Que tal, Peeps! Prayers and Peace to everyone! Glad to be back to the MÉDICOS Patio! As always, let’s hear your voice! By now, you know I give short shrift to what I consider yucky and amplify the yummy: but what do YOU think? Real life doesn’t often have a lot of it, but here on the Patio, we can make our own fun! Vamanos!

Free Rafa! It’s the bright, sunny morning after the benefit dinner. Rafa has been trying to call Cinthia but keeps getting voice mail. Humberto stops by and asks how it went. Well, not as he expected: Remember his special friend, Cinthia? She had a serious problem and he wasn’t able to help her. Rafa felt weak and impotent, not to mention there was some rando (JuanPa) there she supposedly grew up with that Cinthia had never mentioned to him. Rafa has to think for a minute if he was jealous. Well, he felt somewhat vulnerable. Humberto declares that this is what they have been working towards; that he faced a serious problem and it did not awaken in him the desire to use! Use? It truly did not cross Rafa’s mind! The only thing he felt was worry about Cinthia and, ok, yes somewhat jealous! Humberto asks Rafa if he knows what this means? No. Ya puedes regresar al Instituto! You are ready to go back to the Instituto! This was a great step facing a complicated problem and thinking of the impact on his friend rather than trying to escape through using! Rafa is to continue once weekly group therapy sessions and suggests he find some other healthy activity like exercise, meditation or yoga to help deal with anxiety. Rafa is grateful and will follow Humberto’s directive. Humberto follows through with his promise and calls Gonzalo to tell him Rafa is clean and ready to return to work! Before Rafa leaves Carmen approaches him, still trembling and smoking, and wishes him well and invites her to look him up if she ever needs help. Phew!

Cinthia, reluctant Golden Child. The Castillos shamelessly work the Guerreros. Rene catches Cinthia in the hallway of the Instituto and honestly states his interest that, as Daughter of a Patronato, she have anything she needs! After several repetitions that she is fine, she has no needs and just wants to be treated like any other Doctor; Rene finally seems to comprehend it, having to actually repeat this to himself. Nevertheless, he has orders from Coni and extends his offer again: Cinthia is to let him know whatever she needs. At this very moment Coni and Patricia are having breakfast and oooing and ahhhing over the society pages. Coni notes that Patricia doesn’t seem quite as excited as she should be: The Guerreros were wonderful and Cinthia is precious! After a little resistance and fake expressions of not wanting to pry, Coni gets her new amiga to open up: All the problems in the family started when Cinthia decided to go into medicine instead of the family construction business. We leave Patricia pouring out her heart. At least Regina, a true friend, offers Cinthia a listening ear over coffee to update her on the favorable result of the benefit dinner and the complicated crisis Gonzalo is facing.

MÉDICOS #55, 10-1-20

That evening, Cinthia is winding down from the day’s work when she is surprised by a voluptuous arrangement of red roses from a mystery admirer. Oh. It’s from JuanPa who follows the gesture up with a phone call to Cinthia the next morning which she receives lukewarmly, especially being called “Cindi.” She thanks him for the flowers but declines his invitation to go out to eat because of crazy work hours. He lets her know he is on call if she wants to just hang out to get away from medical stuff all the time. Bye JuanPa! Cinthia’s run is done and she’s at the Instituto when Rafa saunters in, his cool vibe firmly intact and Cinthia’s face lights up, “Dr. Calderon, how good to have you back!” Well, she wouldn’t answer his calls, so he had to come in and return to work! That means he’s ok? Yes. After a few seconds of teasing him that she didn’t miss him and enjoyed being able to work in peace, Cinthia runs to Rafa’s arms! They enjoy a long and warm hug, “How good it is to have you back!” Cinthia opens up about how bugged she is about her Parents springing themselves and JuanPa on her and NO, he is not competition for Rafa! Cinthia can’t commit to hanging out tonight due to work but it’s clear, the Rafmeister is back! Cinthia almost skips off to her next task as Rafa surveys his workplace with a “welcome back” to himself.

Reprehensible René finds out the reason for Gonzalo’s having left the benefit dinner early and seems genuinely surprised and sorry for Gonzalo. Gonzalo wants Aurora to be treated like any other patient. We know that for Gonzalo that means quality care but no favoritism. René sits down and acknowledges that this will be long haul for Gonzalo’s family. While he offers his support, he embeds within it the suggestion that Gonzalo concentrate on his family and let René take over more duties of the Director. The next morning René finds Marta in Gonzalo’s office. There is a funny scene in which he asks her if Gonzalo is there. She mockingly looks to the side and in front of the desk and declares he is not. René eyes the files Marta is handling, stating that he needs urgent authorization of a process related to a donation. He asks that Marta let him know when Gonzalo gets in. Then, just as he is about to leave, René asks Marta to pass any calls for Gonzalo to him: he just wants to help Gonzalo during this difficult time; no need to burden him. No, that won’t be necessary, Dr. Olmedo told her he would be working throughout this period and she expects no less of him. Marta punctuates her declaration with a firm gaze, clutching the files protectively.

Backing up a bit, René goes to smooth things over with Miryea after having secured a possible angle for more power in the direction of the Instituto, exploiting Gonzalo’s crisis. Well, René has got skilz, which he works with astounding ease. Although Miryea refuses to get close to Aurora to feed René anything he can use in this dirty game, it is not a strong refusal. Miryea was horribly humiliated by Coni and the next time anything like that happens, she is going to spill the beans on their whole affair! Miryea wants the place in his life she deserves and not Coni’s contempt and degradation! The question of what would exposure gain her slows Miryea’s roll. René seems to convince Miryea that SHE is the real, honest partner in his life; SHE is the one that understands him. Why doesn’t he leave Coni? Because it’s convenient for him; for the contacts he has through her and nothing more! René asserts Coni is the one that’s being used! Miryea weakly protests again that she does not have the place in his life she deserves. René insists that Miryea is THE important position in his life and silences her protests with slime.

Before we get to what I know y’all are waiting for we note that Elena and Daniel are keeping Paco from exerting himself too much but encourages him to do the useful task of monitoring the shop’s daily accounting. Regina, aided by Fantastic Voyage type graphics, explains to a woman the process of plaque buildup in the circulatory system which led to the blockage that nearly threatened her husband’s life. In the evening of this day, Art listens to Luis bemoan Susana’s continued refusal to even speak to him, how it’s tearing him apart. This triggers verbal diarrhea from Art about how his blood boils to see Regina and David together! Luis knew that David and Ana had a fling back in the day, but that’s behind them! Not for Ana! She’s hurt and he’s going to make sure David doesn’t do the same to Regina! Art ignores Luis, who thinks this attitude isn’t necessary or worthy of Art: he shouldn’t meddle in their lives. Nope! Art’s going to be Regina’s shadow! He’s going to be there when Regina needs him! We’ll see what Art was up to the next morning but as for Luis, he’s a shadow of himself as he sees patients with Marco whom he asks to cover some patients for him. Luis gets and ignores a call from Paulina.

Gracious Gonzalo Aurora is a bit less insufferable and actually greets Gonzalo with a hello and thanks him for the pain relief meds. She is more accepting of treatment but insists she is only doing it for Felipe and Gonzalo shouldn’t feel like he has to be so attentive to her because Javier abandoned her. This seems to sting Gonzalo a bit but he persists in his gracious, loving sincerity that he is there for her for the duration; that he is there for them both and will NOT abandon them.

Hilo Rojo by Río Roma
Peeps, click on that link which is the music and lyrics of the song that serenades Regina, David and us in the upcoming scenes. It also contains the emotional theme of the dawning of David’s love for Regina. (According to this ancient legend, “the two people united by the red thread are destined to be loved by each other, regardless of the time, place or circumstance. Therefore, this magic cord can be stretched or tangled, but it can never break.” Wikipedia.)

David is catching up on his charting in the common room when Regina comes in. She greets him with a “hey,” and gently grasps his face in her hands, planting a kiss and a brilliant smile. She sits down, “Are you finished?” He’s almost finished, just a few more notes to make but Regina now has his full attention. The both look furtively at the door as they broach the subject of what’s on tap for their date tonight. “What do you have in mind?” she asks. “Whatever you want; you’re the boss inside and outside the Instituto!” “Very good, Dr. Paredes!” Regina’s smile is a bit mischievous. She dials it back a bit and says, “Ok, something calm; I’m tired.” “Ok, how about this,” he says, “near my house there’s a very good restaurant; we can do take out and in my house I have a bottle of wine………y rico.” “Excellent idea, Doctor! Just what I need!” David decides he’s done charting and with a “WHOO!” he jumps up, grabs his white coat and follows the grinning Regina nearly running out the door! [Those crazy kids!]

MÉDICOS #55, 10-1-20

Regina and David have picked up their take-out and arrived at David’s house. After welcomes and cheerfully declined offers of help, David pours two glasses of wine. Regina looks around, “David what a beautiful home you have!” “Well, it’s your home and you’re welcome anytime!” He and Regina face each other and David proposes a toast to her, to them and to her returning often. With a salud they taste the wine. Muy rico, Regina declares. Still holding the glasses and still in their jackets, David moves in and they taste the wine anew in little, ever-deepening kisses. Regina holds David’s chin with her right hand. She strokes his beard and moves back to look at him for a second with the unsmiling gaze of rising passion, then closes her eyes and returns to his lips for more. Finally stopping to breathe, she whispers, she whispers, “let’s have dinner.” “Oh, yeah, the food!” David chuckles.

Their meal done, David and Regina face each other on the sofa. The lighting is soft; the mood is warm and casual. Both have an arm resting on the white faux fur throw over the back of his sofa, Regina’s right hand rests lightly on David’s forearm. She tells him that the more she gets to know him, the more he surprises her. What does she mean? Well, very, very, very, very deep down, he is a lot of fun. David laughs and asks her please not to tell anybody. It’s a deal! Regina leans in, more serious now. “David, I love being with you; I like your company.” David sighs deeply and rests his head on his right arm and listens intently. “I like how you are with me. You are good in your work but outside the Instituto you just enchant me with your way of being. I like that we are just like this,” Regina gestures, indicating the two of them.” David says he feels the same, even more. “May I confess something?” Cuenta la leyenda que hay un hilo rojo que tenemos todos…. “I’ve never felt this way about anybody. And sincerely, I’m loving what I feel.” “So do I.” Regina whispers with a nod. David moves toward Regina and is drawn almost magnetically in for kisses that steadily intensify. Regina yields very subtly and they begin to lose themselves in each other as their song builds in the background. Y hagas lo que hagas el destino ya está escrito en oro..Bendito Tesoro…Me encontraste y te encontré… David moves in even more closely when Regina pulls back just a bit and stops his advance by touching his left arm. David stops immediately and splays his hand, acknowledging her signal. He backs up, takes her hand in his and asks, “Is everything all right?” “Yes,” Regina says simply, then rises. “Totally fine,” she says, smoothing her scrub pants and stepping away from the sofa. Crestfallen, David expels a heavy sigh and looks down. “Come, come,” Regina beckons and reaches out her right hand to take his left. David looks up in surprise, stands and steps into a quick kiss. Regina casts her eyes and gestures to the second floor. David smiles his relief and they head up the stairs, hand in hand, Regina leading, smiling back at him.

MÉDICOS #55, 10-1-20

Once at the top of the stairs, Regina’s expression is slightly tentative, no doubt thinking about the meaning of this literal and figurative move to the next level with David. Passion pulls her through any hesitancy as she faces David and they begin kissing even more deeply; he grasps her face in his hands; she backs him toward the bed. They finally break the kiss as Regina gently pushes him to sit down and he looks up at her with awe filled adoration. She leans forward and kisses him and then straightens up to begin undoing her scrubs. Each holds the other’s gaze fast. David pulls his scrub top over his head; his broad muscled torso neatly narrows into the bottoms. Still standing, Regina bends to resume the compelling caressing of their lips. She then stands and removes her scrub top, baring her breasts to David’s almost worshipful eyes. Like the red thread, the lovers indulge themselves in delicious twists and tangles in this inaugural sharing of love. Modesty will only permit me to note that each initiates and submits; their tightly clasped hands symbolize the intensity and bliss of their union.

Regina and David face each other discreetly wrapped in sheets and get to know each other through new lenses. “You are beautiful,” he tells her. Regina strokes his face, “You are perfect.” “No, you are perfect and I must have done something really good to deserve you.” “Of course you do good things,” she offers. “David, every day you fight to save people that come to you!” “It’s my job and I do it because it’s my passion but to be with a woman like is something I never imagined possible. Regina, I grew up crafting a very tough personality for myself and I’m sure I alienated people who really cared for me, but with you….” What?” “You disarm me. (I can let my guard down). Regina, I love you.” After a long silence with her eyes fixed on his she cups his face in her hands; they begin chain kissing, deeply and tenderly.

Allowing our fevered imaginations to run wild, they have changed positions now and are dreamily drowsy. Regina’s back is to David; we see he has a red thread around is left ankle. Not quite spooning, his head rests on her left shoulder. David says, “You know what, I admire your way of being very much. He kisses her shoulder, “You enchant me. I love you.” Regina opens her eyes and her dreamy smile fades slightly. “I’m also beginning to have very strong feelings for you, David, but I’m so afraid.” David rouses with a worried expression, “Why?” “Well, because I feel, I feel so good here with you…and now that I’ve had the chance to get to know you better, I realize the great person you are, but I’m afraid.” “No, you don’t have anything to be afraid of with me, Regina.” “I’m also falling in love, David but after everything that has happened to me it’s not…” “Yah, yah,” he puts his arm around her and kisses the side of her face, “I promise you we will be all right.” He holds her close, her arm around his shoulder but her face recalls a not yet distant pain. She says, “You haven’t been through the same thing I’ve been through. It’s just that…it’s very hard to think about everything that happens when a relationship ends. “I understand but we don’t have to be like everybody else. Every relationship is different. Regina, I promise that I will love you, I will take care of you and respect you always, I want to be with you. David punctuates his professions with little kisses to her shoulder and cheek and the pain starts to dissolve as Regina turns to David, caressing his face; they lace their arms and imbibe nascent wine of love, each from the other’s lips over and over…

MÉDICOS #55, 10-1-20 END

Morning finds David having prepared some sandwiches and coffee for breakfast. He’s whipped together something they can eat rapidly! Regina approves. David breaks the chit chat, “You make me so happy.” “And you make me happy,” she replies. Regina has a sudden thought with a cling of her fork, “David Paredes, I’m going to issue you a warning. If you keep on like this, I’m going to get used to it, just warning you!” “Just what I want!” He walks over to her side of his gorgeous marble bar. He puts his arms around her tiny waist, she rest her arms on his shoulders; he pulls her close. “Having you here, in my humble home, close to me, I feel something I’ve never felt before.” “Like what?” “With you I feel at peace and deeply happy.” “And so do I.” More sweet kisses. Finally, at the Instituto, David and Regina dismount from his bike. Regina says it was a wonderful night; she had a great time but next time she’ll buy the food and whip something up. She quickly runs through the day’s routine ending with when they’ll next see each other. Before parting they share another round of the kisses they’ve come to enjoy so much.

Art is watching from a distance and is NOT enjoying their kisses. He frowns nastily. [Just to rub it in, I remind you that while Art was pissing and moaning about Regina and David being together to Luis, they were, indeed, together in the most delish way. NA NA NA BOO BOO!!]

“It’s my job and I do it because it’s my passion but to be with a woman like you is something I never imagined possible....

Come on, y'all! Come out of the shadows, lurkers! It's all about our LOVERS! They followed up on the promise in the coffee shop to "spoil each other" and I love David's sexy little proposal of "a nice little bottle of wine . . . y rico!"

YAH BABY!!!! Take THAT, ART! You can lie and pick a fight with David if you want, but the red thread can be stretched and tangled, but never broken!

MEDICOS

Lila, I found this episode to be dark and depressing. But as usual, your pearls of wisdom and bright humor parted the grey clouds and made the sun shine.

“Cinthia, reluctant Golden Child” and “voluptuous arrangement” were favorites of far too many to mention
.
While I have no sympathy for Art’s “verbal diarrhea”, I am very concerned for Luis who is in the depths of depression. While Susana is understandably devastated, it is sad that she has wrapped herself in an isolating cocoon, unwilling to let anyone in. Her refusal to even speak to Luis is heart breaking. I suspect the door is more than ajar for Paulina to waltz through.

Far, far too much of “reprehensible Rene” who insidiously slithered his way back into Miryea’s questionable graces. His machinations to offer to “help” Gonzalo was cloaked in his obvious nefarious intent. The one bright spot was watching Marta authoritatively thwart him at every turn. The one person he simply cannot get the best of.

“Aurora is a bit less insufferable”. A bit, but the thaw is slow…

“the two people united by the red thread are destined to be loved by each other, regardless of the time, place or circumstance. Therefore, this magic cord can be stretched or tangled, but it can never break” was lovely.

Your depiction of the Regina/David love scene was masterful and as much as I enjoyed it I liked” I remind you that while Art was pissing and moaning about Regina and David being together to Luis, they were, indeed, together in the most delish way. NA NA NA BOO BOO!!]” even more.

“Rafa saunters in, his cool vibe firmly intact” did signal “the Rafmeister is back!”. Clean and sober in a matter of days! But, no matter, we (and Cinthia) are delighted. Still “Before Rafa leaves Carmen approaches him, still trembling and smoking, and wishes him well and invites her to look him up if she ever needs help” was not a good foreshadowing.

Lila, you have raised the bar yet again. Wonderful.

Diana

MÉDICOS #55, 10-1-20

Oh, dear Diana! I'm glad my little offering lifted you up some. I guess I'm so used to the background drama, I was just glad to see Regina and David rise above it and LOVE each other!!! I know Regina's worry, even in the midst of afterglow, is foreshadowing, but I want to enjoy their tasteful yet detailed lovemaking for now.

But yah, the other drama is there and looks like "they" are heading toward Paulina "comforting" Luis who is double-shocked by his son's untimely death and the withdrawal of his beloved Susana, who blames him FOR that death! YIKES!

There are lots of rocks ahead for everybody, even David and Regina, I just hope the writers give us lots of LOVE to make it past those rocks!

Thank you, Diana; you always make my laboring over these recaps so, so worth it!

Lila, the sun is shining in my part of the world, but you made my day brighter. Thank you!

Aurora is still being a pain and throwing her little daggers, but at least she is coming around (somewhat) and allowing herself to be treated. I know that Gonzalo wasn't physically present as much as she whould have liked when they were together, but geez-louise, those looks he gives her speak volumes for how much he feels her. How could she not see that.

Art is really starting to get creepy; if looks could kill, David would be dead. How long will it take him to really go off the deep end?

Lila, I just love an dlook forward to your descriptions of Regina's and David's encounters. ...and doncha just melt when David says, "que rico." Sizzlin' hawt!!

I am so relieved that Rafalicious is BACK!! ..and so is Cinthia though she makes every effort not to show it. The way they tease each other...pure love :-)

I thought some of Mireya's neurons had finally gotten on track, but Ren-auseating managed to mess them up again. Any scene with Ren-auseating is totally disgusting. Diana, "The one bright spot was watching Marta authoritatively thwart him at every turn." Just love Marta!

Lila, "looks like "they" are heading toward Paulina "comforting" Luis" Run, Luis, run!! If he truly loves Susana, he will resist.

MEDICOS

Oops, forgot to put "MEDICOS" up above and...

Forgot the thank you for that link to the song, Lila. I had heard about the red thread legend, but had never heard the song till this TN. Beautiful song!

MEDICOS

Good Lord LILA!!! I think my computer burst into flames just now. Your description of our sweet lovers was even hotter than the filmed episode. Wowza lady. No need to turn on the heat in our house, not this morning anyway.

And so wonderful to have that link to the song and an explanation of why the camera lingered on the scarlet cord around David's manly ankle.

Like Diana, I got a kick out of "when Rafa saunters in, his cool vibe firmly intact.... and...the Rafameister is back! Just delicious. And he really did look good. Not raggedy ass and pale like usual.

So disappointed that Mireya with Renyuck didn't hold her ground, but "silences her protests with slime" was perfect. As was the scene with wee Marta (the woman looks to be 4'11" tops) defying him in every way possible.

Now, this is awful, but I'm beginning to sympathize with Aurora's husband who fled, while saying her real problem was her pride. The woman is about as unlikable and ungrateful as any character I've ever seen portrayed. Was just gnashing my teeth in annoyance during her whiny, bitter scenes.

But who cares? We got a great love scene and a super duper recap of every minute. You shine, sweet LILA, you really shine.

MÉDICOS #55, 10-1-20

Rgv Chick!! Gracias, de verdad!!!

Rgv Chick, Art has made one of the most dramatic character turns I've seen in a looong time! It is amazing how that brilliant smile and kind eyes have turned into weapons of mass destruction! YIKES!! I repeat, I don't think Regina is safe, either!

Oh, yes, "take out, a little bottle of wine....y RICO!" Yes, Baby, RICO!!! Yah, he's HAWT, all right! Bye, Octavio!!!

Oh, Rgv Chick! I didn't realize you thought my Rafa was "Rafalicious!" Yes, I think he is buu-tiful! I'm so glad he's healthy. Yep, it's too quick, but let's roll with it!! Like a true novela voyeur, I'm looking forward to his and Cinthia's consumation!

"Ren-nauseating!" JAJAJAJAJAJAJA!!!! LOVE IT!!! And yes, Luis, I'd rather see you and Art get together than to go back to Paulina! Yes, RUNNN!!!!

Hilo Rojo is stuck in my head. It is sooooo beautiful!

Thank you, Rgv Chick!!!

Medicos. Another sublime recap, Lila! The Rafmeister! Reprehensible Rene! Love it. You do have a knack for epithets. And let me fan myself. Oh, the passion, the passion! Incredible description of David and Regina's lovemaking, Lila. You're the best!

MÉDICOS #55, 10-1-20

Oh, JudyB! Girl, I love your reaction! I wrote this for you, for me, for all "Ladies of a Certain Age" and anyone who loves LOVE! It was my pleasure.

OMGosh! How do those actors remain professional? How many people are in the room during these scenes? How do they avoid embarrasing naturual physiological events? I'm not one who likes to know about the actors' personal lives, I like to think of them as the character they portray, but GOOD GOOGAH MOOGAH!!! that lovin' looks right real to me and I wonder how they pull it off! LAWDY!!!

And so wonderful to have that link to the song and an explanation of why the camera lingered on the scarlet cord around David's manly ankle.

Juuuuudy!!!! Man yams on tap! Love those legs, GRACIOUS!!

"Renyuck!" JAJAJAJAJAJAJA! Keep 'em comin'!

Hon, I'm at the table with you on that. She evokes not only ZERO, but NEGATIVE sympathy! Jeezopete! Put a sock in it, broad!

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, JudyB! Is it silly that I'm actually happy that two fictional people are falling in and made declicious love! Ahhhhh, beats "the news" and a good chunk of real life everyday!

SpanProf Thank you, Girl! Having fun! Loves me some novela LOVE. See above and the questions I raise about how these actors pull these off!

See y'all later!

MEDICOS

Had to come back for a mid-afternoon pick me up. And elevated further I now am.

"Ren-auseating" and "Renyuck" made me laugh out loud Rgv Chick and Judy!

"doncha just melt when David says, "que rico." Sizzlin' hawt!!". That and tingling Rgv Chick!

Judy, could not agree more with your take on Aurora in "gnashing my teeth in annoyance during her whiny, bitter scenes". She must have been terribly insecure to resent time her husband spent at the hospital.

Gonzalo is slavishly devoted to his patients and from what we have seen, he had eyes only for Aurora. It appears it's not enough for some to have another's complete devotion. They must have all their time and their souls as well.

"Like a true novela voyeur, I'm looking forward to his and Cinthia's consumation!" Lila, I am right there with you! Rafa left me with a tepid first impression but I'm now firmly ensconsed at his table on the patio :)

Thank you everyone.

Diana

MEDICOS

Thanks Lila! I missed the scene when Rafa returns to the instituto and surprises Cinthia but other than that I saw everything else.

Rene gets more insufferable by the episode. I hope Mireya means what she says about not giving into him. I’m not too worried about Cinthia. She can clearly hold her own. She is not fooled by people like Rene and even her parents. Her parents are doing this for business purposes not to understand why Cinthia chose her career.

I agree with Diana, you perfectly depicted the romantic scenes between David and Regina in this episode.

Ana and Art’s little scheme and whining is not the same as what Luis is going through. Neither Luis nor Susana is trying to move on with someone else. Susana is too consumed in her sorrow that she’s pushing Luis away instead of looking to him for comfort while Luis is trying to make her see that she’s not the only one who is suffering.

Dear Lila, bless you for bringing some light and fun to us . You know things are grim when a telenovela recap an getting your teeth cleaned are the bright spots in the day.

The love scenes were tasteful but sizzling . I believe in the red string. I met the love of My life when I was 17 . It was love at first sight , but I was amazed that I loved him more as our life went on. Even as a teen I believed Robert Brownings' words " Grow old along with me , the best is yet to be, the last of life for which the first was made.

In Kababla, the belief is that soulmates are one soul in two bodies. When they meet, they complete each other .

It's important to look for the positive and the good and the fun each day . The recaps and comments are are welcome escape from reality. I appreciate the recaps and the comments .

Lila, romance novelist extraordinaire! It's a good thing I'm working at home cause your prose on David and Regina had me blushing. You go, mujer!

Yep, Art is crazed by the green-eyed monster. Poor Luis, even in deep depression, he knows Art is talking like a fool.

the Rafmeister is back

Yay, Rafa's got his swagger back. So sweet that he felt impotent to help Cinthia at the gala. Just that he thinks deeply about "her" problems is enough. He's a keeper.

Oh. My. Goodness! SPEECHLESS, and yet so much to say haha

Thank you Lila! Wonderful recap, especially your descriptions of the David and Regina scenes. Seriously, it’s amazing. I could keep reading and re-reading them!

The lovemaking was everything I had hoped for ¡y hasta más! There was a part of me that thought Univision wouldn’t give us half of what they did because.. well.. they’re Univision lol. But I’m very glad they did!

David is the sweetest!! And they were both cute practically running out of the hospital lol. At David’s when Regina got up from the couch I actually said “What?!” Out loud. Thankfully, she just wanted to “move to the next level” haha.

Right before they go up the stairs Regina says something I couldn’t understand, did anyone catch what she said?

Lila, you’re right about all this looking “very real” and some of it definitely was lol. When they’re kissing right after they get wine, that was no telenovela kiss- that was a KISS. With tongue and everything lol. When Regina says “vamos a comer” that genuinely looked like it got David out of the zone he was in and maybe it did for Daniel, the actor. After that, I was wondering how much of all of this was scripted and how much of it was just them “letting go”. Either way it was wonderful 😊

Hi, y'all! Let me catch up!

Welcome to Rafa's table, Diana! Glad you're feeling better! I think the baddies are going to have enough action that we need all the lovin' we can get!

Thanks, TF! I had big hopes in Miryea at first, but Rene has REALLY got her number!

ITA about Luis and Susana's pain. How absolutely excruciating what those two are living through! It's hard to look at Luis! He was so evidently raw with pain in that scene, I wonder if a short in-patient psych stay might be indicated. I mean that seriously within the context of the show and in real life. That kind of grief is debilitating!

As for Art and Ana, we are all getting increasingly freaked out by his sense of entitlement and outrage.

Susanlynn! Sweetheart, this cracks me up, but I feel you:

You know things are grim when a telenovela recap an getting your teeth cleaned are the bright spots in the day.

Those sentiments about soul mates are so touching, Susanlynn!

Yes, I surely believe in looking for the good and the positive and the fun. I'm happy to share it with you all in this little digital haven! Bless you!

Niecie! Hey, Girl! What can I say? Loves me some LOVE! David and Regina were brining it!!

YES! This is so true! Thank you for bringing this out:

Poor Luis, even in deep depression, he knows Art is talking like a fool.

I'm getting so scared for David and Regina! Art is a nut job!

Niecie. This is fun. I am clinging to this novela and even though this aired a long time ago, and no matter what drama certain actors may be going through in their lives or what others think of them, these two young people are brining some much needed LOVE to the screen!

UnOp! My Girl and fellow David Freak!!!

Ahhhh, UnOp, LOVED the love scenes. Girl, did you pick up on that sexy "Boss Lady" dynamic they had running? At least it seemed so to me, but it wasn't cheap, it wasn't comedic. I loved how when Regina backed away a bit on the sofa he immediately stopped and asked if she was okay. Then, poor baby, when she got up from the sofa, he heaved this biggest sigh and looked down, thinking he had blown it. When she beckoned to him to "come, come," he looked so innocently surprised and expectant! That was SO SWEET!!! Then, she said something I didn't quite get, looked and motioned upstairs and he LIT UP! And then, she leads him up his own stairs and is the one that guides him, lips locked, backwards, to land gently on the bed! The way he looked at her, like, "is this real? She's and Angel!" It was amazing!

Okay, UnOp, you feel me about the reality of this. I know we're not making comments about these peoples lives and NO, I'm not inviting such, but they are flesh and blood. Yes. The wine kiss told me this was going to be good. After the first couple of kisses, Regina moved just a bit and looked at him, and it was just as I described, it was NOT a goofy, smiling, "I'm bout to get some!" kind of smile; it was a "who are you and I like what you're doing to me" non-smiling look!

UnOp, and all my Patio friends, this medium is awesome! These people communicated perfectly the most powerful life force there is: LOVE, and I enjoyed describing it! THANK YOU!!

Woohoooo, Lila!! You made it to the top! 🍾🎊🎉CONGRATS 🎊🎉🍾

Yes! I completely understand what you mean about Regina, she “took charge” so to speak lol. I liked that though, because we won’t have to wonder if Regina felt pressured to do something she wasn’t ready for. There is NO doubt that she wanted this to happen! LOL! David was, in every sense, enchanted with Regina. I loved it, it was very fitting. David said he had never felt like this about anyone before so, in a sense, it’s all new to him. It’s definitely not his usual behavior to let his guard down. Ohhh by the way, when he said “Regina, tu me desarmas” I LOVED THAT!!! I had never heard that phrase before, but it’s a great phrase!

OT

What do you mean, Rgv Chick? Thank you, though!

MEDICOS

Oh, yeah! I like that it was clear she was totally into what was happening! No! They planned it! In the coffee shop when he said, "If you let me, I'd like to spoil you" and she repeated it. They're grown folks, they knew what they were talking about. And his sexy..."Rico", oh yeah! But you're right, there was no force and no deception. Period.

Do you have better English for, "me encantas tu forma de ser."

OH! I see it, Rgv Chick!!!! WHOO HOOO!!! Thanks! Awwwwww! I'm up there with Sweet Anita!

THANK Y'ALL!

Que tal, Peeps! I wish strength, peace and good vibes to you and everyone you love and a favorable resolution of whatever challenges you face as you read this! Well, this was not a warm and fuzzy episode, so I’m going to be brief, but, we can get through this! Vamanos!

Aaaahhh, we begin with a quick reprise of David and Regina sharing sweet, see-you-later-kisses in front of the Instituto. [Breathe that in, Peeps! Exhale!] Evil green eyes watch them both enter for their days work.

I come out of the brackets to say that, as a Parent, even this fictional grief is tremendously painful. The loss of a child, regardless of age, but especially a young child, is excruciating physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. If you haven’t been through it, you fear to even think about it too much. This actor is so tremendously effective in transmitting this pain, I’m going to just summarize his story line and allow you all to contribute in comments whatever you wish.

Luis is crying in the common room when Paulina enters and launches a simultaneous effort to support and reclaim Luis. She says she was worried when he didn’t answer her calls. Luis describes the depth of his distress; Susana’s blaming him for Gabriel’s death and refusal to even talk to him. Paulina assures him he is not responsible for Gabriel’s death and understands why he wants to continue to work: he is a good man, that’s why she fell in love with him! If she could, she would have given her life in place of Gabriel, out of love for him! She tells Luis she is there for him and to please call if he needs to, parting with a prolonged kiss to the side of Luis’ neck. Despite a valiant effort to get back to work, Luis just cannot do it. Regina asks for a consultation on Jacobo, the patient with a heart blockage, a condition that responds favorably to dietary and other lifestyle changes. Characteristically composed Luis lambasts the patient for being negligent with his health and the gift of life while others die, never having the chance he has! Daniel and Tania ask Luis to see the little boy who fainted at home and is admitted to the ICU for observation of his worrisome tachycardia (abnormally rapid heart rate.) Luis understandably melts down when he sees the little boy is in the same room where Gabriel died!

MÉDICOS #56, 10-2-20

Luis flees the hospital and calls Paulina; he confesses she was right, he can’t work. She will wait for him in the restaurant where they always used to meet. Whether he comes or not, she will understand and is with him. Luis takes her advice and goes to see Gonzalo who encourages Luis to embrace the memory of Gabriel and fully confront and express his grief and look for Susana when he has gotten through this most painful first step. He gives Luis an open-ended bereavement leave. Later in the evening, Luis staggers to his and Paulina’s old haunt; Paulina runs outside to meet him and embraces him. Inside Luis describes the depth of his despair and his feeling of uselessness in life. Along with her encouragement to take this difficult passage step by step, Paulina strategically reminds the weeping Luis of the long talks they used to have back in the day. She promises him he will come through this.

Moving on, Rafa returns to the Instituto to get the formal okay to return to work. We Rafistas note his brown leather jacket matches his long, soft locks which are gathered up in a ponytail. On the way to Gonzalo’s, he runs into René who tries, without success, to intimidate him about his convenient absence after the illness of his patient in the OPC. He threatens Rafa with a blood test. Unfazed, Rafa smiles and leaves with a con permiso, coolly continuing on his way to Gonzalo’s office. Gonzalo congratulates him for the successful completion of his therapy. Rafa says it was difficult, but what sustained him was his desire to return to his passion and his desire to help others. Rafa asks and Gonzalo okays his return to work. René’s threats? Fuggetaboutit! Rafa asks about Aurora; Gonzalo updates him on her status.

Coni and Patricia make a surprise visit to the Instituto. Coni has weaponized Patricia after hearing her side of Cinthia’s rift with her Parents. Patricia interrupts Cinthia giving patient instructions and is all clucky and mother-henly to Cinthia’s embarrassment. Coni volunteered to tour Patricia, new Patronata, around the Instituto, knowing how busy Cinthia is! Coni reinforces the Guerreros line that this is all to support her and be close to her. Cinthia manages this latest ambush with a little more grace than at the benefit dinner. Meanwhile, Gonzalo goes to see René who informs him he took care of a little administrative matter concerning a donation, signing some checks. Is that OK? Yes. He asks how Aurora is and again offers any support Gonzalo needs. Gonzalo thanks René and informs him he will continue to work as usual. As soon as Gonzalo leaves, he calls for Miryea to come to his office. Once there he asks about Gonzalo’s involvement in Aurora’s care and concludes that Gonzalo is leaving the Director’s job unattended. He asks Miryea to document each and every piece of equipment used in Aurora’s care. Miryea is resistant and asks why. Well, Gonzalo is distracted by the care of his ex-wife: all he needs is one mistake Gonzalo has made and the Directorship is his! Miryea leaves, skirting René’s attempt at some dirty office dalliance. Miryea opens the door and there is Coni and Patricia!

MÉDICOS #56, 10-2-20

Coni notes through a grimace/smile Mireya’s presence again. You can cut the tension with a knife as René awkwardly introduces Mireya as Head Nurse to Patricia who wonders if she had seen her at the gala. Miryea says no, careful to look at Coni, that she was too busy to attend and beats a hasty retreat as René asks her to get that “information” he asked for. Patricia and Coni sit down; they tell him about the planned tour of the Instituto. Patricia reiterates her desire to be close to Cinthia but declines René’s offer to call her, laughing that Cinthia “would kill her,” besides, they already saw her. Patricia would like to meet Gonzalo; Rene tells her about the family crisis so they decide to move on. After Patricia leaves, Coni gives Rene a meaningful glare and mild slap to the face. He follows the two ladies out the door.

It’s as busy day at the Instituto. Rafa gets back to work right away as the Anesthesiologist in care of Andrea’s breast biopsy. Art welcomes Rafa back and takes little prompting to report that Regina and David are going out and it takes a lot out of him to be able to stand it. We can see Rafa’s surprised eyes over his surgical mask. The surgery is a success and we get a PSA for traditional cancer treatment. I understand that there is internationally-sought alternative care for cancer in Mexico. Art visits Andrea and her husband after the surgery and in an eerie, too-chipper presentation, Art tells her yes, it was cancer and they got it all as well as the affected lymph nodes. She must carefully follow the course of radiation and chemotherapy he prescribes and she will be fine. Maybe it’s because of Art’s self-declared entitlement to Regina’s love and right to stalk her, his once reassuring, brilliant smile looks scary! [What do y’all think about this segment?] Andrea’s husband totally supports and is grateful for Art’s guidance.

Let’s see what the other half of the “Destroy David and Regina’s Love” is up to. Ana finds Regina getting coffee in the common room and harangues her on the dangers of dating David. She knows, she was in a relationship with him; he doesn’t take relationships seriously, so good luck with that. Regina is caught off guard and stunned. She defends David not telling her because it must not have been that important. Regina even confronts Ana, asking her what her angle is. With a look combined with honest concern, cool detachment and a determination to dismember all at once, Ana attacks David with the same old charges: he’s selfish; he’s impulsive; he’s insensitive, she’s just trying to warn Regina to not get her hopes up about David so she won’t be hurt. Regina asks if she’s finished, tells Ana she’s willing to take the risk, wishes her a good day and leaves. Ana looks satisfied, Regina is visibly shaken and concerned; she carries a wooden, professional demeanor throughout the rest of the day. David has been busy as well, consulting with Daniel on the little boy with tachycardia. He asks Daniel how things are going with the loan shark. Daniel’s got the money and is going to pay the dude. Daniel at firsts declines and then accepts David’s offer to go with him to make the payment. [No, Baby! Don’t go, David!!!]

MÉDICOS #56, 10-2-20

Regina is looking for David and approaches Cinthia in the staff area of the ER. Regina asks Cinthia if she knew that David and Ana used to go together. She did not! Neither did Regina; Ana just told her. Twin tempests, Coni and Patricia descend again upon Cinthia, along with Rene, who introduces Patricia to Regina. Regina gives an accurate and glowing description of Cinthia’s work as a Resident at the Instituto. She describes the ER as not only receiving traumas from around the city and region, but patients from all over the country who need consultation or specialized treatment. As do all new Resident, Cinthia began covering all kinds of patients under the direction of senior Physicians, but as they gain experience, they see patients related to their specialty. (Cinthia is a Senior Resident in Trauma medicine, specializing in Orthopedics.) Regina accurately presents Cinthia as an important and integral part of the ER Team in the Instituto. Cinthia smiles gratefully but nervously; Patricia seems genuinely impressed and announces her determination to get more funds for the ER! Regina thanks Patricia for her interest. Coni notices Miryea absorbing the scene and gives her a look; Miryea retreats to her desk. Coni turns and shoots daggers into Rene’s beady eyes! Patricia fussily kisses her “little girl” as they prepare to move on. Coni lays a big, prolonged beso right on Rene’s pie hole. Miryea leaves in a huff. Ooops! Kiss wasn’t necessary! Rene, Coni and Patricia head off for the next leg of their tour but it had its intended effect as Miryea goes off and barks and yaps at Lili about something she was already doing. Regina checks in with Cinthia after the trying trio leave. Regina says it seems Patricia is really interested in the Instituto. Yes, she is and it’s good that her Parents want to support the Instituto, but this is not the way! Regina digs deeper; what’s wrong, Cin? Cinthia tells her that all during her medical school years, her Parents didn’t support her at all because they wanted her to stay in Guadalajara and work with her Dad in the construction business! They are using money, as usual, just to get close to and control her! Cinthia insists that is her Parents motivation and it really bugs her!

MÉDICOS #56, 10-2-20 END

David continues his supervision of Daniel and Tania on the case of the little boy in the ICU that Luis couldn’t bear to see. They consult with Gonzalo, who agrees to go see the little boy. Later, Gonzola checks in with Aurora and Felipe. Prior to his entering the room, Aurora and Felipe talked about how Javier had, as promised, disappeared in a puff of smoke. Aurora wonders what she did to deserve being abandoned in her hour of need. Felipe assures her she did nothing and to forget the creep. Earlier, Gonzalo had consulted with an Oncology Center and will be sending Aurora’s medical information to them. He lets them know Aurora is stable enough for surgery which is scheduled for first thing in the morning, followed soon thereafter by a course of chemotherapy. Yes, it will be hard, but Aurora is a strong woman and will pull through!

The long day is over; Regina is in the common room at her locker. David is feeing tricky and sneaks up on her. “How anxious I have been for this day to be over!” he exclaims. Regina’s back is to him, but we see her blank face. David buries his face in her hair and kisses her through her midnight locks. He immediately notices her rigidity and failure to return the kisses he’s already become accustomed to. “Is everything ok? Did something happen?” She finally turns to face him. “We have to talk, David.” “What happened?” he asks with concern. “Why didn’t you tell me you had a relationship with Ana?” “The truth is, I didn’t think it was anything important.” “You know the problems that I’ve had with her. I would have preferred a million times over to have heard it from you.” David says, “You are absolutely right. Please, excuse me.” Regina’s face remains a bit stern, “I don’t like to get these kinds of surprises, David. David answers, “Listen, my “relationship” with Ana was when were interns, it ended and we both went our own way. That’s the truth.” Regina listens, but continues, “After learning about this, I understand many, many things. I sincerely think Ana has not forgotten you. That is why she was in your room when we were at the congress.” David alerts a bit, “No, no, just a moment. You have to believe me that on that day, nothing happened.” “Yes, I believe you, I believe you. I have sufficient maturity to deal with any number of things but if you hide something like this from me, we will not have good communication; to have this just as we are getting started, is not going to work.”

Another marvel Lila.

One of the many reasons I so savor your recaps is your incredible ability to capture the true essence of the characters words and emotions. Although uttered with impassioned supposed sincerity, there is often a darker motivation remaining beneath the surface.

“Luis is crying in the common room when Paulina enters and launches a simultaneous effort to support and reclaim Luis” cut to the heart of the intent of the woman who is cunningly and stealthily planning to usurp Susana’s place. “If she could, she would have given her life in place of Gabriel, out of love for him!” was below the belt. Will there be resistance to “Paulina strategically reminds the weeping Luis of the long talks they used to have back in the day”? It is taking all of Luis’ strength to deal with Gabe’s death. His heart is under assault by one who is determined to seize it while his wife continues to break it, continuing in depressed isolation.

“Ana…harangues her on the dangers of dating David. She knows, she was in a relationship with him; he doesn’t take relationships seriously, so good luck with that. Regina is caught off guard and stunned”. A halfway truth, peppered with lies. But of course the true sting was that David never told Regina. The timeline is irrelevant. Regina saw Ana and David together at the conference and was already uncomfortable and uncertain as to what their relationship was. The fact he was with her years ago is irrelevant. His answer was unbelievable and insensitive “The truth is, I didn’t think it was anything important”. Trouble in paradise just as it began.

Your description of Patricia’s “clucky and mother-henly” manner was spot on and in her own way, very overbearing. I’m growing a bit tired of “Twin tempests” ,Patricia and Connie. I take no joy in Connie’s verbal decimation of Miryea. I would like them to leave and take Rene with them.

“Art visits Andrea and her husband after the surgery and in an eerie, too-chipper presentation” was very troublesome. Is he falling into some kind of psychosis? He is a bit frightening.

And on a final bright note "We Rafistas note his brown leather jacket matches his long, soft locks..." made me smile. I think we are all glad he is back!

Lila, thank you, thank you.

Diana! Thank you, de verdad! I LOVE how you express this: Although uttered with impassioned supposed sincerity, there is often a darker motivation remaining beneath the surface.

Oh, Diana! This is what I feared, and I know I wasn't alone! I have no evidence she purposely neglected to do all she could for Gabriel or, God forbid, that she did anything actively to bring about his demise, but if the writers wanted to present a story of an old love who returned to Luis' life after the tragic death of his son and the abandonment of his wife in grief; they could have done that. From the beginning Paulina made plays for Luis...anyway, I don't want to get into that again. She is an odious character and her motives were thinly veiled. Just the fact that she saw from the beginning and is now taking advantage of an opportunity to get Luis back is disgusting.

Yes, I didn't mention it, but Luis kept saying he was confused, that he didn't know who he was, or where he was or what to do, etc. He truly needs some inpatient care for this grief crisis! You aptly note here:

It is taking all of Luis’ strength to deal with Gabe’s death. His heart is under assault by one who is determined to seize it while his wife continues to break it, continuing in depressed isolation.

Lordy, on my David and Regina, I hear you: His answer was unbelievable and insensitive “The truth is, I didn’t think it was anything important”. Trouble in paradise just as it began.

Yikes! What's next, Random Chick? Is she going to be waiting for David at his apartment one day when he and Regina arrives? But then, RC, or Jacky, or whatever her name is, has always been upfront with him that she just wanted to "work out" with him and knew his heart belongs to Regina, I don't expect that kind of drama. People have needs and that's how my man chose to fulfill his, as he has a right to do.

Girl, Art's talk with that patient, I know, was not supposed to come off the way I took it. I take responsibility for that but, I think the actor is so excellent in his stalky behavior, it's overwashing into kindly and skilled surgeon, Art. Double yikes!

Yes, my Rafa is back!!! Thank YOU, Diana! GRACIAS, AMIGA!!

LILA, dang it, couldn't the writers have left us a few more episodes of Love in Bloom before T.R.O.U.B.L.E.!? Oh well, pretty down episode after our pink cloud, but such is life in Telenovela World.

[Paulina] "...parting with a prolonged kiss to the side of Luis' neck." Yes, our erstwhile lover has moved in very effectively, offering warm touch and a sympathetic listening ear to a devastated man. Should be 100% effective. But it must be said, Luis' "ended" his marriage when he had the affair. What remained was a tentative, untrusting, day-to-day partnership for the sake of Gabriel. So it's not surprising that now Susana is unable to offer him the warm bosom of consolation for the shared loss of their son. Underneath the Happy Families facade, she ALREADY felt alone. And now that's all she wants. Sad. Tragic even. But understandable, given the consequences of his affair and breaking of trust.

Art's chirpiness-- That scene bothered me too. Because for one thing, removal of lymph nodes, radiation and chemotherapy all have consequences of their own. And not all rosy. I had two friends, whose arms became swollen and never regained normalcy after removal of lymph nodes. And I now have several friends suffering heart problems and thyroid cancer as a result of previous chemo and radiation for an earlier cancer. So the current, accepted treatment of cancer is not all sunshine and rainbows. But if it was meant to be a PSA for accepted medical treatment versus some of the weird stuff going on, I understand.

Loved "trying trio". Yep. René, Constanza and Cinthia's Mom (with Mireya lurking in background) is about as toxic as you can get. Loved your "clucking like a mother hen" description also. A bit of a smother mother. And at work no less! Exhausting.

And poor David. I read somewhere that "We have to talk" are the words a man dreads most. Even worse than "Some assembly required." And our adorable man-child did make a huge blunder. Guess we'll just have to wait patiently while our lovers work this out. But dang!!!!

LILA, you're still the Queen of Romance, even if the writers have thrown a spanner in the works. Keep the faith lady. We're all enjoying the heck out of these juicy recaps, even when the actual episode is a downer.

Hi, Susanlynn! Yah, this Luis storyline is very difficult. That's all I can say. Bless you and thank you for always tuning in. In terms of the novela story arc, I think I may rewind the first kiss and the moving the sofa episodes.

Weekends are slow on our Patio and that's good. Means people are doing stuff and having fun!

MÉDICOS #56, 10-2-20

Yes, JudyB! darn it all! Couldn't they have ended the weekend with passionate, stolen kisses in the common room! Sheesh!

Wow, JudyB! What an impactful statement! I never thought of it like this:

But it must be said, Luis' "ended" his marriage when he had the affair. What remained was a tentative, untrusting, day-to-day partnership for the sake of Gabriel.

I think the rest of your paragraph will help me through what I am sure will be a rekindling of whatever that was that Luis and Paulina had. Be assured, though, if they get graphic, it will NOT get David and Regina level coverage!

Yikes, your stories of cancer treatment survival are scary but appreciated. Just my opinion that it's a PSA. Makes sense to me, though, since the thrust of this novela has been medical/health education and advocacy. Don't think I've ever seen a novela like it.

And poor David. I read somewhere that "We have to talk" are the words a man dreads most. Even worse than "Some assembly required."

That is HILARIOUS!!! Yes, our poor David! Regina IS gun shy and she told him she was scared!

Queen of Romance! I rather like that! YAAAAY! I think of you and all our regular buds when I write these. I know I often call for others to come out of the shadows, but you know what, you all true blue commenters from when I, myself, dropped out of the blue to "comment" on this story are more than good enough for me! I appreciate ya!

Thanks, Hon!

Added to my long list of "I wish I'd said that":

Thanks a ton, Lila!

I had the same thought as you when David offered to accompany Daniel to pay the loan shark. Nothing may have happened the first time but I just have this feeling something may go awry this time.

I still can’t say how I think the Luis/Susana/Paulina thing will conclude but it wouldn’t hurt for Luis, at least, to take some time off from working. Although the situation was different, it certainly benefited Rafa going to treatment. Obviously in his case he made a mistake on the job that was very serious. Luis maybe has a bit of PTSD and he definitely needs to acknowledge it and find a safe way to handle it. Even if he doesn’t reconcile with Susana I don’t think pursuing anything with Paulina is a good idea.

At least Cinthia has people to vent to, rather then the ones that preferred to gossip. Connie and Patricia are quite the pair together lol and as for Mireya I might have a tiny bit of sympathy for her but I’m not getting ahead of myself just yet. Rene clearly wants her to always do his work. It would be satisfying to see him get thrown out of the instituto or something similar.

MÉDICOS #56, 10-2-20

Hey, TF!!! Buenas noches y gracias!! Oh, TF, like someone else noted, he's a surgeon! His hands are gold! Oh, gosh, I hope they don't go there. It's weird, though, that they're going to visit this story line twice.

On Luis ITA: Luis maybe has a bit of PTSD and he definitely needs to acknowledge it and find a safe way to handle it.

Yes, the writers could make this a storyline for sometimes needing professional help with grief, but alas, I fear that's not "sexy" enough. Paulina's going to have the cure. We'll see, but after what he went through, I don't think Paulina or any other person can keep him from melting down when he will, inevitably, have to take care of a patient in that room!

TF, Rene doesn't miss an opportunity to try to eff Gonzalo over and advance himself! Twice now Miryea has recoiled at the idea of doing his dirty work when a Instituto staff member's family is involved: first, poor Gabe and now Aurora! What a snake! I think Miryea may have had enough at some point, but it's probably still far away!

I am eager to see who will eventally bring Rene down. Mir seems to be waking uo to how unscrupulous he is.

Médicos

Thanks, Lila. Terrific job, even though the romance got doused in frigid water. Your descriptions are spot-on.

Patricia interrupts Cinthia giving patient instructions and is all clucky and mother-henly to Cinthia’s embarrassment.

I'm done with Patricia. Interrupting her daughter while she's with a patient, just plain self-centered.

“Luis is crying in the common room when Paulina enters and launches a simultaneous effort to support and reclaim Luis”

I hope Luis doesn't sleep with Paulina. If he does, he can add self-loathing to his deep depression. Since this is a medical show, it's just beyond the pale that no one thinks to advise Luis and Susanna to seek therapy.

Maybe it’s because of Art’s self-declared entitlement to Regina’s love and right to stalk her, his once reassuring, brilliant smile looks scary! [What do y’all think about this segment?]

Lila, I totally agree with your take. During Art's cheeriness, I was wishing the woman had a female doctor who would at least understand her feelings.

I'm Team Regina, but color me disappointed in her. She knows Ana is an enemy, so why fall into her trap? David and Ana had a small fling like 10 to 15 years ago. Yeah, he could've told Regina about it, but then he and Regina just became a big thing only one night ago, so up till now there was no reason to tell about Ana. I'm with David on this one.

MÉDICOS #56, 10-2-20

Gracias, Niecie! Yes, Girl! They threw cold water on all of us! Danggit!

Niecie, I am so with you on therapy for Susana and Luis! How about a wellness check, for gosh sakes! Susana could be dead by her own hands, for all we know! Even if that hasn't happened, they both need to be evaluated NOW! Guess they couldn't figure out how to make that into a PSA!

Thank you for weighing in on that creepy Art scene with Andrea! Yikes! Okay, it wasn't just me! Man, that Art, we've got to watch him!

Thank you for your perspective on Regina! Excellent points:

I'm Team Regina, but color me disappointed in her. She knows Ana is an enemy, so why fall into her trap? David and Ana had a small fling like 10 to 15 years ago. Yeah, he could've told Regina about it, but then he and Regina just became a big thing only one night ago, so up till now there was no reason to tell about Ana. I'm with David on this one.

Yah, she kind of called him on the carpet like the boss lady! I hope this is not the beginning of a lot of annoying misunderstandings and break ups! I know no relationship is perfect, but I want our lovers to be united for the assaults that I still expect, from Art, from Rene. Regina just needs some more David Magic!😉

Niecie and Lila, yes , that was a rapid turnaround from a blissful interlude with David to being suspicious of his intentions due to Ana's hateful words designed to upset Regina and fill her with doubts about David. Regina gets a very stern look on her face at times that translates to " uh oh, watch out, I am not happy. " We have seen that look before when she was dealing with slimy Sergio . Once burned, twice shy.

Lila, mucho applause and a standing ovation for you! You keep churning these recaps out and make it look so easy, but I know it's not. I bow to you in admiration and appreciation.

There's not much more to say that hasn't already been said, but I do want to make sure that everyone knows that I am in total agreement about Paulina, the harlot! zorra! golfa! mujerzuela! ..and any other word used in Mexico for byotch!

And Regina really needs to take a good look at where her info comes from...Ana...seriously, Regina? Lila, "Regina just needs some more David Magic!😉 Yeah!! Like he needs to use that "wand" of his and hypnotize, mesmerize, and magnetize her LOL I'll stop there JAJAJAJAJA

Good morning, Peeps!

Yes, Susanlynn! I give it to the actress: as soon as Ana spewed her venom, Regina's posture, her face and, I don't know how to describe this, her energy changed. She portrayed perfectly being surprised, stunned, annoyed at Anna and, after she left the room there was fear in her eyes. David told her as they lie in bed that she had, like no one ever before, disamed him. Well, Regina re-armed herself, drawing heavily on the pain and shock of the trashy trio in her marriage bed. Very believeable performance. He felt it immediately when she didn't turn and bestow that loving gaze and kisses upon him. Yah. Ruh Roh!

That said, I think both David and Regina's response are understandable. Regina was right when she said David didn't tell her because he didn't think the "relationship" was important enough. AND, I like Niecie's point above. Remember that David went to talk to Gonzalo to urge him to help Ana in the OPC with getting a dialysis machine because he knew Ana would take her frustration out on Regina. He did it to protect Regina. Protecting her became a new natural instinct for him so, yah, you would expect he'd tell her about Ana but he knew it really wasn't important. Remember how Ana pretended to be all mature and wishing him well at the gala, etc. He truly didn't epect her to go and portray him as a jerk who hurt her. Anyway, they're just getting started, we'll see how the clean up in aisle one goes on Monday!

Rgv Chick! OMGoodness! Really? THANK YOU, MUCHISIMAS GRACIAS!!! That means so much coming from a stalwart novelista and recapper like yourself. I peaked in over the years and yours is one of the names I always saw! This is a bomb community and this Patio is as much an inspiration as the story!

Whoa, Girl! Tell us how you really feel:

I am in total agreement about Paulina, the harlot! zorra! golfa! mujerzuela! ..and any other word used in Mexico for byotch!

I LOVE IT!!! But this next bit even more!

Lila, "Regina just needs some more David Magic!😉 Yeah!! Like he needs to use that "wand" of his and hypnotize, mesmerize, and magnetize her LOL I'll stop there JAJAJAJAJA

WHOA!!!! Yah, Girl! Now you got ME blushing! JAJAJAJAJAJAJA!!!!! Lorty, thank you for simple pleasures like chaste, bordering on soft porn love scenes between beautiful people!!! I'm sorry but I'm with you. "David" is a fiiiiine hunk of hu-MAN-ity and Regina showed her appreciation and I think they appreciated each other so the writers better give us more of "Boss Lady and The Magic Wand," and I'll be a Happy Recapper!

Thank you, Girl!

UnOp! Check in, Girl! It's gettin' hot up in here!😉

MEDICOS

I meant thank goodness for simple pleasures like chaste, bordering on soft porn love scenes between beautiful people!!! ...

MEDICOS

Sweetie, glad you clarified I meant thank goodness for simple pleasures I thought you might have gotten so over-heated that you were hallucinating...not fantasizing, noooooo, just H-A-L-L-U-C-I-N-A-T-I-N-G 😉😂

MEDICOS

🤣🤣😁😁🤣🤣

It's David's fault!

Medicos. Great recap as usual, Lila. Given all the gossip that goes around that hospital, I'm surprised no one seemed to know about Ana's and David's past relationship--even if it was 10 ears ago. Not to mention, it should be pretty obvious, given how Ana has been acting. I could swear that Art told Ana that they took out the lymph nodes nearest her tumor and it turned out they weren't cancerous. In that case I would think they might go for radiation plus a prescription for an aromatase inhibiter--but maybe they're just being super cautious.

MEDICOS

SpanProf! Hey, Kid! You are welcome! Good point about the gossip. Ana and Art have such loose lips about the object of their lust, it's a wonder the patients don't know too! Sheesh!

Yep! And go with what you heard about Andrea's tumor. I was so freaked out by how he looked like he was selling her a new car that I probably heard wrong!

And, all I can think about is how Regina and David better not break up already!

MEDICOS 55-5/64-5

Great work, Lila.

What surprised me the most about these two episodes is that Arturo seems to be going to the dark side. He is still diligent in his work but his off-the-clock time is now open. What will he do with it?

During Andrea's scenes I've been watching her husband more intently because the second thing most women fear about breast cancer is the disfigurement of a mastectomy. I agree that she would have been better off with a female doctor, especially a surgeon.

As for Regina and David, I loved the beautiful consummation but we all know that the shots get fired and wound fairly soon after this. Bummer that it's the following episode, but there are only 22 left and Ana has been the enemy from Day Zero. And there is nothing humble about his abode; I think he has the coolest one in the series. My current concern is what could happen when David faces the loan shark. He could end up in the emergency room on the gurney.

My strongest vitriol today is for Patricia. If I were Cinthia I would disown her, change my name, and leave the country. Patricia comes off as an airhead sometimes but she's also very calculating. She could ruin Cinthia's career with another performance like this.

MÉDICOS #56, 10-2-20

Hey, Urbanita! Good to see you! Yes, Arturo has indeed gone to the dark side. The dramatic tension is awful. I just feel he's going to do more than "be near Regina in case she needs me."

...the shots get fired and wound fairly soon after this. . .

Whoa! You're scaring me, Urban, what you talkin' 'bout?

And, yes, I already thought of this, and the fact that they have him going back to the 'hood makes me fear it even more. Baddies don't like to have their a$$ed whooped in front of boss man, and David did that. They will surely try to get even!

My current concern is what could happen when David faces the loan shark. He could end up in the emergency room on the gurney.

It breaks my heart to think about it, but we know that, if that happens, his beloved friends and the crack Instituto ER team will take good care of him!

And yah, Patricia is not done. Besides everything else you outline, she has sicced JuanPa on Cinthia. That dude is UBER-annoying!

Thanks, Urban!

Wow, only 22 episodes left. There are quite a few storylines that have to be resolved . I am looking forward to Rene's dirty dealings being uncovered . I hope we get some happily ever afters .

MEDICOS

Me too, Susanlynn!

MEDICOS

This was green-lit for a second season, so be prepared for cliffhangers.

Médicos

Thank you Lila! Welp, I was not expecting to get pushed off the clouds so soon after going to heaven.. yes, am living vicariously through Regina, don’t judge me HAHAHAHA

It’s no secret that I like David, but I want to say that it doesn’t mean I am going to blindly support everything David does or says. Now having said that, I don’t think David not saying anything about Ana to Regina was such a big deal. Hear me out..

-these doctors don’t know each other outside the hospital, they don’t know about each other’s personal lives. When Ceci showed up to the hospital, Regina and Cinthia had no idea that Art had a girlfriend. In the same way, there’s no reason for Regina to have known when David did or didn’t date.
-David and Ana had a casual thing- they never had a formal, or serious, relationship.
-David and Regina just started dating. They’re just getting to know each other. They have never sat down to talk about their previous relationships. Imagine their first date when Regina asks David to tell her about himself, if he had started talking about how he dated Ana, that would be weird.

If they had already talked about previous relationships and David never mentioned Ana, then yes, Regina would have every reason to be upset. But as things stand right now, I have hope that Regina saw through Ana’s BS. Regina is a smart woman, and even though I do understand an emotional response at first, hopefully she’ll think things through (quickly) and see that things don’t add up... Regina knows Ana is interested in David. If David really was as terrible as Ana says and had broken her heart, why would she keep trying to get together with him so many years later? Doesn’t make any sense lol

And although it may have seemed that David’s response to Regina was insensitive, I think it was completely honest. To him, whatever happened with Ana never had any importance, so there was no reason to bring it up with someone he just started dating. If there’s one thing that Regina DOES know, it’s that David is blunt and says things like they are, so I hope she doesn’t read too much into the way he responded. Besides, David immediately realized and accepted that Regina was right... so I’m hopeful that this was all a misunderstanding that they’re moving on from and not going to be a huge fight.. *fingers crossed* lol

Come on, David let Regina keep the motorcycle helmet when they went their separate ways at the hospital, she should know he is in the is for the long run!!! Haha

Médicos

I AM worried about David and the loan shark.. him going to see them has been mentioned multiple times now.. and I’m not even sure if I should point this out because no one else mentioned it, but David had a bruise on his left cheek when we saw him making breakfast for Regina at his house. No joke, when I saw it, I thought “well things got a little rough last night” HAHAHAHA 🙈 by the time I was commenting on here I had completely forgotten about it, until now! Because that bruise might be from going to see the loan sharks!! Episodes don’t get filmed in order, so it’s possible they could have recorded the scene with the loan shark and then that scene at his house.. and that whoever is in charge of continuity didn’t take off the bruise-looking makeup off David 😬

UnOp! Hey, Kid! You're welcome!

Thank you Lila! Welp, I was not expecting to get pushed off the clouds so soon after going to heaven.. yes, am living vicariously through Regina, don’t judge me HAHAHAHA

No judgement, Girl, none at all. Haven't you read my ravings about Dr. David Paredes!

Counsel, you have presented a VERY convincing case and I have no objections!

Now, I didn't even notice this! I'm going to have to go back and look:

Come on, David let Regina keep the motorcycle helmet when they went their separate ways at the hospital, she should know he is in the is for the long run!!! Haha

OK FOLK, THIS IS ONLY SPECULATION!!

Yes, UnOP. I saw the bruise, too! Thanks for mentioning it!!

David had a bruise on his left cheek when we saw him making breakfast for Regina at his house. No joke, when I saw it, I thought “well things got a little rough last night” HAHAHAHA

HILARIOUS!!! I think you are right about the sequence of filming! Nice catch!

Y'all know what? There was a book series I was reading a few years ago and the writer was SO GOOD or either I have too vivid a visual/emotional perception when reading. Anyway, one of the beloved characters was in a terrible crisis and I caught myself about to pray for the character! I'm like, Ok, get a grip, "so-and-so" is not even real! I'm not quite there with David but this show is one of my toppandemic/life trials escape mechanisms and I will NOT be happy if they hurt him!

But David freaks, can you imagine the scenes of loving concern and fussing over David from Regina we're going to get?

Gracias, UnOp! I can't wait for tomorrow's show!

MEDICOS

OOOOPs, UnOp your quote was supposed to be italics, not bold. Didn't mean to get loud on ya!

MEDICOS

Good morning, Peeps!

Thanks, everybody that hung out at the Patio this weekend. I had a lot of fun and hope you did, too! When I'm chewing the fat with y'all and cracking jokes and enjoying the beauty, the passion, and even the ugliness of the people in our little drama, it makes the world go away for a little while. I hope you guys have a great day and week and I'll see you in cyberspace, maybe before, but Lord willin', after tonight's show. Can't wait to see how David deals with those dreaded words, "we need to talk!" Thanks, JudyB!

Hi, Lila, your recaps and comments help us Hang in there at this stressful time . Bless you.

MEDICOS

Thanks, Susanlynn! We all need each other! ❤😊❤

Médicos

Thanks again Lila! I love coming here and reading everyone’s take on things. And like you said, escaping the world for a little bit.

Médicos

"Regina just needs some more David Magic!😉 Yeah!! Like he needs to use that "wand" of his and hypnotize, mesmerize, and magnetize her LOL

This had me dying of laughter!!

I was so done with Patricia ever since the gala. When she was calling Cinthia to the podium she was like “ven mija chiquitita mamasita” and all kinds of stuff that you shouldn’t say to a woman in a professional setting. Seriously, how embarrassing!!

Aurora doesn’t know what she did to deserve this? That’s funny.. it’s called karma..

I know she very thing isn’t going to get resolved this season, but I hope the Rene stuff doesn’t drag into next season. I am so tired of him AND his wife!

MEDICOS

Hey, UnOp! Me and Rgv Chick were having fun with a remedy for Regina so quickly believing arch-enemy Ana...that was HILARIOUS!

Just like your noticing the bruise and thinking he ad Regina must've gotten a little rough last night had me howling!

Ah, such fun! Come on 8 o'clock!
