novelera and dondi356, belated thanks for your excellent comments. It's been one of those days, and I wasn't able to respond until now.

novelera, I agree that Ugur did lots of useful and supportive things in last night's episode, though I was annoyed with him toward the end when he asked Demir whether he's OK, and a rather surly Demir responded with a brief yes, and Ugur cheerily says something like OK, great everything is OK. He seems to take everything at face value. As for Mu-rat, I think you're right that he tells Candan about Oyku because he wants to break up her relationship with Demir and Oyku and have her all for himself.

dondi356, I was intrigued by your saying that if they do a DNA test, "We will find out who’s the real dad. What will Cemal and Asu do when they find out?" Are you assuming that Cemal is really Oyku's father? If so, why? Asu told the woman who she was about to pay for taking care of Oyku that Demir was the father, and apparently Asu loved Demir (and perhaps still does?). Why would she lie? You've been right over and over again about this telenovela, and you may be right here as well, but I'm curious about your reasoning.

Hija

Juanita, I think, ok I really hope, that Demir is Oyku's dad. But since there has been no conclusive evidence, I think the paternity issue could come into play again. Just a thought.

Recap coming shortly.

Hija #22 part 1

Demir is on his phone looking up info on Niemann-Pick Type C. Oyku is looking for her hairbrush. Demir mentions she should get a haircut. No way says Oyku. She still can’t find the brush. Ah, I think I left it at Candan’s. She knocks on her door; Candan’s not home. Demir notes it is late; the clinic would have been closed a few hours already. He tells Oyku to get ready for bed.

Cemal pulls up in his car and he sees Candan sitting outside the clinic. He notices she is upset. He asks if she’s ok. Candan says she is fine. Cemal doesn’t think so. She wanted to take Gece out for a walk but then she sat down. He says he will stay with her. Candan doesn’t want to be a bother but then she says ok. They start walking.

Oyku come out of the bath and trips. Demir panics and rushes to her side. Oyku! Oyku! What happened? (I guess he is worried it’s the illness.) She tripped on her boot! He’s annoyed. How many times have I told you, don’t leave your things around! He asks if hurts much and he blows on it (a sweet parental remedy). Oyku asks if it is bleeding. No. Demir helps her into bed. Does it still hurt? A little—it’s better now. Demir is still standing over her. Oyku asks, why don’t you go to bed? Are you standing all night? Demir says he’s not sleepy.

Candan and Cemal are walking Gece. She says that the walk helped. Cemal says, I don’t know what’s wrong, but you can tell me if you want. Candan tells him that she got bad news today. Someone she loves is sick. He hopes it’s not serious. It is. She cries. Cemal says let’s sit.

She’s sorry she is bothering him with her personal problems. Cemal says it’s ok and whoever it is must be special. He empathizes, it’s horrible seeing a loved one suffer because you would do anything to protect them. He knows what it feels like. Candan wishes she could do something, but she doesn’t know what. Cemal continues, sometimes you can’t change fate so one should come to terms with that first. Why do anything if it won’t change anything in the end. He knows, you feel pain and then you get used to it, slowly. (He’s thinking about Asu and talking about himself. I think this is sincere advice.) Thanks, you helped me says Candan. No problem. Call if you need me. They head back.

Demir is still awake. Oyku is restless. He tells her to sleep, she has school tomorrow. She wants him to read The Little Prince. No, he doesn’t want to read. He doesn’t like that weird kid. Only 5 pages please, begs Oyku. Please, don’t say no to your daughter. Demir gives in—fine, get the book. He starts to read. “It is the time I have wasted for my rose.” “Men have forgotten this truth”, said the fox,” but you must not forget it.” “You become responsible forever for what you have tamed. You are responsible for your rose.” “I am responsible for my rose”, the prince repeated, so he would be sure to remember. Demir seems affected by this.

Demir buys simit (Turkish version of a bagel) and a juice for Oyku on the way to school. He doesn’t have enough for cheese, but that is not important to Oyku. He warns her to do as the teacher says and don’t wander away from school. And don’t run, you will sweat. If you sweat, don’t drink cold water and hey, be careful on the steps and hold the railing.

Asu shows up at the bar. She talks to Ergenc. She’s looking for work. She needs the money. Ok, he will buy her a drink if she needs one. No, Asu tells him she’s saving up to move back to Berlin. She’s bored in this city. He lets her work behind the bar. (the fox guarding the hen house). He warns her not to drink or else. So, what does she do as soon as he leaves? She opens a beer.

Hija #22 part 2

Demir goes into the pharmacy. He has the script that Ihsan gave him. He remembers Ihsan telling him the meds are very important, buy them as soon as possible. Demir asks the pharmacist about the meds; how much will they cost? It’s obvious he can’t afford them, so he tells the pharmacist he forgot something and will be back later. Outside the pharmacy, he makes a quick call to Ugur. Meet me.

Demir meets Ugur at the tea garden. Ugur asks, how are you? How’s Oyku? Demir answers fine to both but it’s clear to Ugur that’s not the case. Demir asks Ugur to call Korkmaz. What? You want me to call? Are you ok? What changed your mind? Demir gets annoyed, can’t I change my mind? He yells at Ugur to call Korkmaz now and then he gets up and walks away. Ugur makes the call. Do you have anything for us? It’s urgent. We need a job quick. Ok be patient, says Korkmaz who hangs up and immediately calls Cemal.

Ugur called begging for work. Great, says Cemal, I have a job for them. He wanted to wait a bit but since they are desperate, he will go ahead now. Cemal will be in touch later.

The class is working with watercolor. Oyku’s paints are almost gone. Teacher Sevgi says, didn’t I tell you to buy new paints? Use your friend’s for today. Oyku tries to share but the classmate moves them away. Oyku goes back to using what she has left of hers.

Candan is outside the clinic when Demir shows up. He hopes he’s not bothering her. They sit. Demir tells her, we were worried because we didn’t see you last night. Are you ok? Candan responds, yes, I was late, that’s all. Demir tells her that Oyku couldn’t find her brush and she thought she left it in your room. Just then, Cemal shows up. Hola, Candan. Demir stands up, shocked.

Cemal is sorry for interrupting. No, it’s ok says Candan. Cemal tells her he was worried about last night and that why he wanted to see how she was doing. She takes this opportunity not to answer but to introduce Cemal to Demir. They shake hands without letting on they know each other. Candan asks Cemal to have a seat. So, is she feeling better? Yes, she answers this time. Demir asks what happened? Cemal answers for her—Candan wasn’t feeling well last night. Candan tells Demir it’s nothing important. Cemal continues, don’t forget what we talked about last night. Candan goes to make coffee.

Once she leaves, Demir questions Cemal. What the hell are you doing here? Cemal informs him they are neighbors. He lives in this apartment building. Demir reminds Cemal to stay away from Candan. Whoa, are you jealous, Demir? Demir asks what is Cemal trying to do. Demir warns, I could tell her who you are. Well then, Cemal will tell Candan that Demir tried to scam her. We’ll see what’s worse. Demir says, the problem is between us; leave her alone. Cemal won’t and Demir threatens to kill him. If anyone had the English caps on, Cemal tells Demir BTW, Candan “is a nice piece of ass.” (I was a surprised to see this translation. The audio wasn’t clear for me so I don't know if he actually said this.) Luckily, Candan returns with the coffee before things explode.

There is an attempt at polite conversation. Demir asks Cemal what he does for a living. He’s a financial advisor and gives Demir his card. And what about you, Demir? He’s an art expert. How admirable! Cemal says he likes art, too. Really? Demir crushes Cemal’s card in his hand. Suddenly, Cemal remembers a meeting and he must leave.

dondi356

Hija #22 part 3

Demir tells Candan he has to leave, too. He just wanted to make sure she was ok. He asks her to stop by their room later because Oyku was worried and misses her. She makes an excuse, she’s been very busy lately. He understands and goes. As Demir walks past the building, he remembers that’s where he saw Asu.

Candan gets a call. Hello, Aylin?

Oyku is in the classroom all alone. Teacher Sevgi comes over to ask why she didn’t go out. She doesn’t feel like it. Sevgi wants to know what’s wrong. Will Oyku tell her? Oyku just shakes her head. Sevgi imagines it must be something that’s difficult to talk about. Sevgi suggests Oyku keep a diary. She has one. She writes what she thinks, how she feels. Writing things down is sort of like talking to someone. It might make you feel better.

That night, Ugur is walking down the street looking at his phone and not looking where he is going. He literally runs into Sevgi, knocking all her packages to the ground, spilling the contents. He apologizes profusely and starts helping to pick up her items. She just wants to pick up her stuff and go. He just won’t let her leave. He babbles on like a fool. She can’t wait to get away from him. Mr. Ugur, good night! And she finally makes her getaway. Ugur talks to himself. Way to go Ugur! Of all the people in the world, I run into her. God is testing him.

Oyku is starting her diary. I’m worried. I can’t forget what the doctor said about my meds. Dad doesn’t have much money. He won’t be able to take care of me if he knows I’m sick. He doesn’t even have enough money to buy me watercolors. It’s best if I go to the orphanage. Dad was upset about what I said at the inspection, but that’s not what I wanted. I don’t want him to feel bad. I don’t know what to do. Oyku starts to cry but she wipes her tears before Demir can see.

Dad? Can I watch TV? Am I still punished? Demir gives the ok, but no cartoons because they give him a headache and only for 30 minutes. She pulls out a bag of chips. (they look like Doritos) Seems this was a plan to watch TV together. And she wants to ask Candan over, too. Demir says not to bother her, she must be busy. Oyku goes to knock on her door anyway.

Candan is in a café. She meets a woman. This must be Aylin who was on the phone earlier. They haven’t seen each other for a while. She heard that Candan’s father died and tried calling but she didn’t answer. Yes, Candan admits things were rough for a while and she didn’t feel like seeing anyone.

Oyku says that Candan is not home, so Demir and Oyku settle down to watch TV together. This show doesn’t seem appropriate for an eight year old. Like a Jerry Springer or Maury Povitch show where guests attack each other verbally and physically.

Aylin has been in Bulgaria for a while and she’s decided to relocate permanently. She’s come to offer Candan a job. She has a new horse ranch and she needs a vet. It’s in Bulgaria? Yes, what do you say? It hasn’t been easy for Aylin to find someone as good as Candan. Candan asks for time to think it over. Aylin will be here for a week and then she is going back to Bulgaria.

Cemal goes to see Korkmaz. The trap is set. There’s an antique book that’s very valuable. Cemal hands Korkmaz the details. Call them and tell them you have a job. And we’ll call the police on them again. Carry this out and you will be rewarded, he tells Korkmaz. They shake on it.

Cemal gets a call from Arif. Cemal says, you found him? Where is he?

Cemal arrives at a hospital. He asks for Sezer Ihan. Are you a relative? No, a family friend. The nurse thought that Sezer had no one. She tells Cemal that visiting is over. Cemal says it’s been a long trip, please let me see him. Ok, but not for long. Cemal goes into the room. We see a man in bed. He doesn’t seem to have much of a reaction to Cemal. Cemal says, hello Mr. Sezer. I have news about your daughter.

And we are out.

Another terrific recap, dondi!

Again, I could do without the whole Cemal plot line. And, I'm fairly sure Demir is not going to jail. Not so sure about Ugur. But I suppose we'll see another way Cemal is foiled.

Also not liking Candan avoiding Oyku, but I understand they are trying to say it's trauma from what happened with her sister, close to the same age.

The best scenes are with Demir and Oyku as she continues to wind him around her little finger.

I'm a bit surprised that teacher, while seeming to be a very kind person, hasn't managed to figure out: 1)Iladya's bulling and 2) that Demir probably doesn't have enough money to provide school supplies.

hija

Thanks very much, dondi356, for another superb recap. One of the many things I appreciate about your recaps is your knowledge of Turkey and Turkish culture. I was interested to learn that Turkey has simit, a Turkish version of the bagel.

And I loved your description of Ugur's literally running into the teacher on the street. Ugur has some endearing qualities, but increasingly I just want him to go away, or at least shut up. I think you captured the scene perfectly when you wrote, "He babbles on like a fool. She can’t wait to get away from him. Mr. Ugur, good night! And she finally makes her getaway."

Speaking of the teacher, I was pleased when she suggested to Oyku that if there are things she can't tak about, she consider putting them in a diary. But that was offset a bit by her surprising obtuseness about Oyku's financial situation. Of course, she's not the only person who seems unaware of others' financial difficulties. I'm thinking of the doctor, who happily writes out a bunch of prescriptions that are VERY important for Oyku to take, with no thought about whether her scruffy looking father will be able to pay for them. [OK, OK, end of rant. :-)]

So Aylin invites Candad to join her in Bulgaria. In some ways, it's a tempting proposal, both professionally (Aylin has an entire horse farm that needs a vet) and personally (Candad can escape from Oyku's painful situation, and perhaps from Demir as well, without having to seem as if she doesn't want to see them). But Bulgaria? Admittedly, it's right next to Turkey geographically, but as far as I know, the language--both spoken and written--is quite different. Perhaps I'm mistaken, and/or perhaps I'm thinking of how reluctant I would feel to move to a country whose language I could neither speak nor read. I'll be surprised if Candan actually moves there (even if initially she agrees to go--adding a seeming complication to the novela's plot).

And poor Oyku and Damir, as Oyku thinks "It’s best if I go to the orphanage." Arrgh.

hija

I'll do some sort of recap of tonight's episode.

HIJA

Dondi, thank you for such a splendid recap!

Novelera, "The best scenes are with Demir and Oyku as she continues to wind him around her little finger." DITTO!! That's what keeps me watching :-)

I have to agree with Juanita, Dondi, your description of Ugur's babbling exchange with the teacher was spot on. Well done! And I also agree that he just needs to go away and SHUT UP!

I could do without the Cemal storyline too, Novelera, but I was really glad that Demir remembered seeing Asu leaving the place. Also, I'm wondering when Cemal will find out about Oyku; and when he does, will he give up his vendetta against Demir? and maybe actually help him out? Cemal finding Asu's father has to fit in somehow...is the father well-off? Inquiring minds need to know!

I also agree about the teacher's AND NSEDoc's obtuseness and not taking into consideration Demir's financial challenges. IIRC, Oyku did tell NSEDoc that her father would not be able to afford the meds and treatment. And (good) teachers always know about their students and the homes they come from. I'm very disappointed in Ms. Teacher; she seems to know nothing about Oyku.

I have my fingers crossed that they will revert to the original music. The ranchera music just don't cut it.

Hija

Thanks, everyone, for your kind words and great comments.

We all agree, a little bit of Ugur goes a long way.

I don’t mind Cemal and his storyline so much because I think he’s going to have a change of heart. I just wish he would hurry up and see the light. I think Oyku’s illness could be the catalyst.

I’m more annoyed at the teacher Sevgi than Dr. Ihsan.

Juanita, the Ottomans were in Bulgaria for centuries and I think there is a minority of Turks still living there. Since these countries are neighbors, perhaps Bulgarian is a minority language in Turkey and some people are bilingual. Like you, I can’t imagine moving somewhere you can’t read, write or speak the language.

Yes, RGV Chick, the new theme song is so out of place. The original soundtrack for this show is lovely.

Todo por mi hija - #23 - p 1 de 3

As the episode opens, Asu is working as a substitute bartender at the club. She seems to be providing one drink for the customer, one drink for herself. Her boss comes by and cautions her. She tells him she's just drinking the customers' leftovers. She then asks some some evil-looking guy at the bar what he wants. He tells her to offer him something. He suggests they leave and go somewhere elsewhere for some fun. She tells him she's working. He claims he can pay her more than she's making, indeed, three times as much. She tells him to get lost. They get into a physical fight. Someone (the boss?) hands her her jacket. She leaves.

Demir stares at a sleeping Oyku. He then looks at the things on her desk. Her school books, and then, oops, her diary. He reads what she has written, about how he has very little money, not even enough for a new set of watercolors. She thinks it's probably best if she goes to the orphanage. She doesn't want to upset him. She doesn't know what to do. Demir starts to cry.

In the morning, Demir shouts into his phone, loud enough to wake Oyku. He pretends to tell Gunzu "I don't believe it! I'm going to be rich?" Oyku wakes up as this is happening. Demir tells her about his phone call: his father owned land, and now they're rich! "You can ask for anything you want. What would you like?" Oyku replies "I don't want anything." She kisses him. He then gets a call from Ugur, who tells him they have a job. Demir then asks Oyku again, what would you like? She replies, "A house. I don't like living at the hostel. Do we have enough for a house?" Demir tells her she should go to school, and he'll go to the bank to see whether the money has been deposited. Oyku then asks for one more thing: new watercolors.

Asu hears a knock at her door. It's Cemal. He sees her hand is bandaged and asks what happened. Nothing, an accident. Cemal wants to go out, but she says she's too tired. He then tells her, "Asu, I've found your father." Asu doesn't know what to think. She threatens him, don't mess with me again. He insists he's serious. She says, "I have no father. First Demir, then Oyku, and now my father." Cemal says her father just wants to see her one last time. He (Cemal) doesn't give a damn about her father. "Then why are you doing this?" Asu asks. Cemal replies, "He's rich, Asu. You have no idea how rich. He wants you to inherit everything." [Demir pretended that his father left him rich, and now Cemal may be using Asu and her father to actually become rich. Hmm]

And then we move to another way to become rich. Ugur and Demir meet with Korkmaz. The job is simple. They just have to deliver a book. The buyers are foreigners. All Demir and Ugur have to do is deliver the package. Details are in the folder. Read it. Demir asks about the book. Korkmaz tells him it's none of his business. He then offers Demir and Ugur a substantial advance. Ugur is delighted, Demir is wary. 'You're being very generous, Korkmaz. You never gave us money in advance before." Korkmaz tells him, "If you don't want it, don't take it." Ugur assures him they'll take it, they were just surprised by the amount. "Make sure you succeed this time," warns Korkmaz.

Demir and Ugur leave. Ugur is just grinning ear to ear; Demir is solemn. Ugur suggests that Demir call Candan to watch Oyku that night until they get back. Somewhat hesitantly, Demir calls Candan. She tells him that she won't be at the hostel tonight. Ugur then suggests that his mother can watch Oyku. Demir finally tells Ugur about seeing Cemal with Candan, and Candan's being less warm to Demir than usual. He's afraid that Cemal won't leave them alone. He doesn't want Cemal to hurt Candan.

Todo por mi hija - #23 - p 2 de 3

At school, the teacher, Sevgi, puts a math problem on the blackboard. She calls on Oyku, whose hand is eagerly raised, to explain it. Oyku comes to the board and goes through the steps, writing as she goes. Sevgi is very pleased. Suddenly, Oyku can't get her hand to write. She drops the chalk, turns to the teacher, claims that she has to go to the bathroom, and races out the door. As soon as she's out of the classroom, she tells herself "It will pass, it will pass, stay calm." She sits on the stairs and starts reciting the train stations. Another teacher comes by and asks her why she's there. She tells him she had to go to the bathroom, and she's about to return to class. He seems satisfied and continues on his way. Oyku then goes down the stairs to the bathroom, still urging herself to stay calm, it will pass. Suddenly Sevgi comes into the bathroom. She asks whether Oyku is OK. Oyku assures her she feels much better, her stomach doesn't hurt any more. She's ready to go back to the classroom. Sevgi asks whether she wants to go to the infirmary. No, she feels fine, she'll go back to class.

Demir goes to the pharmacy and buys the drugs for Oyku that he wasn't able to afford the day before.

Asu is sitting on the floor in her apartment, drinking. Cemal comes in. He asks whether she's feeling better. She doesn't believe what Cemal has told her about her father, and she tells him, "If you're messing with me, I'll kill you." Cemal tells her that her father looked for her but couldn't find her. She asks him, "Are you saying that I have a father and a daughter after all?" Cemal tells her to look at herself, living in a disgusting pigsty. She'll probably die in the street, and no one will care about her death. No one will care about her dumb pride. "The only person who cares about you is me," Cemal tells her. "So you'll do what I say from now on. You'll take everything your father offers you."

Going up the stairs at the hostel, Oyku learns that she'll spend the evening at Ugur's mother's house. She's pleased. She likes Ugur's mother. "She reads to me, she brushes my hair, she makes my braids." Demir says that first they have to stop at their room so that Oyku can get ready. Oyku opens the door and stops. She sees a wrapped package. "What's this?" she asks. Demir shrugs and tells her to open it. Demir helps her. When Oyku sees it's a set of watercolors, she's ecstatic. "Not even Ilayda has one like this!" Demir points to the shade Sunshine Yellow, the one Oyku said she liked best.

Demir then holds out a pill and tells her to take it. He claims it's a vitamin. She asks why she needs to take it. He tells her that he doesn't want her to get sick, he doesn't want to deal with her snot (mocos). He tells her to open her mouth, and he checks to see that she has swallowed it. She'll be taking one each day.

Oyku asks where Demir and Ugur are going. "To see the lawyer," replies Demir. "At night?" asks Sherlock Oyku. Demir claims that it's Ugur's lawyer, and this was a good time to see him.

Oyku isn't the only one asking questions. Ugur is waiting for Demir and Oyku to arrive at his mother's house. Mufide asks, "Where are you going?" And she follows that with "Why haven't you taken me to see the store yet?" Ugur is saved by the arrival of Demir and Oyku. He tells Demir not to go in, his mother is asking questions. So they send Oyku in by herself and wave goodbye from the door.

Todo por mi hija - #23 - p 3 de 3

Cemal and Asu are in Cemal's car. She has a flashback to her childhood. She is with her mother at a cafe. Some strange man (perhaps her father? or her mother's lover? or a total stranger?) is looking at her mother, and her mother is looking back. Asu asks her mother where he father is, and why doesn't he live with them. Her mother responds, "He doesn't love us. Finish your food." Cemal brings Asu back from her flashback, asking her whether she's OK. "No," she responds.

Demir and Ugur are in the car Korkmaz provided, and they're looking for the address where they're supposed to deliver the package. Demir pulls over; he's thirsty and he wants to buy some water. He leaves, and Ugur starts singing (out of nervousness?). Suddenly a police car pulls up. Uh oh. The cop tells Ugur he can't park there. Ugur explains that his friend just stopped for a minute to buy some water. Sure enough, Demir arrives, the cop is content and drives off, and Ugur gives a sigh of relief.

Korkmaz tells one of his men to make the call to the police. The guy calls to report that someone is smuggling antiques, and here's the license plate number.

Mufide brings Oyku some fruit. Oyku tells her it's delicious. Mufide is happy to see Oyku in better spirits. She tells Oyku she was sad to see her cry the other day. "You know what people say," Mufide tells Oyku. "Even a father's shadow can make you feel at home."

Demir parks the car. Immediately, a police car arrives. The police order Demir and Ugur to get out of the car, put their hands on the car, and spread their legs. "Someone reported you," one cop informs them. The police find a backpack in the car. Inside are some books. "Oh well, it was good while it lasted," Ugur says softly to Demir, who just glares back at him. "What are these books?" the cop asks Demir. "They're ny daughter's schoolbooks," Demir replies. The cop then asks where they're going. Demir says he was just giving his friend a ride home before returning to his house. The cop tells them they can leave. Ugur gets into the car and Demir drives off. Ugur looks inside the backpack. "Where is the book?" he asks, astonished. Demir just keeps driving.

Cemal is taking Asu to see her father. She is very nervous. She asks for a minute to compose herself. They enter the building and arrive at her father's room. Cemal assures Asu that he'll be waiting right outside the door. She seems frozen. "If you don't want to go in..." Asu opens the door and enters very slowly. She stares. Her father sees her. And the episode ends.

Thank you, Dondi, great recap!

It's heart-wrenching to see Demir crying. To think that this is the man who initially wanted to get rid of Oyku ASAP....what a transformation. And he even called her "cariño"!

And now it is clear that Oyku doesn't know that Demir knows her secret. What I don't like about this is that they promised each other "no more secrets" and this is forcing them to continue the lies..and it's forcing Demir to do what he has been trying so hard not to do--steal and defraud others.

It was obvious that Demir was very suspicious of Korkmaz. Tha man has a brain! but he only uses it sparingly, though at perfect times :-)

So Asu's father IS rich. Wouldn't it be nice if Asu continued to refuse the money, but tells her father that he has a granddaughter? He could leave all that money to Oyku...wishful thinking, huh? Cemal will probably find a way to snatch that money from Asu.

Sevgi is still lacking as a teacher. There was a long pause between the time Oyku started having trouble with her hand and telling the teacher that she needed to go to the bathroom. Sevgi should have noticed something was amiss.

I was expecting the cops to take Ugur and Demir in for questioning again. I suppose the fact that they were wearing the appropriate attire (this time) had much to do with it. I hope Demir now figures out that it's Korkmaz that is (helping in) setting him up. If they are successful at completing the job, will Korkmaz have the money to pay them??? We shall see Monday.

I like Mufide, but I can't believe that she accepts every word out of Ugur's mouth. I was expecting that she would mention the excuse Ugur gave her for going out to Oyku; it would have alerted Oyku to the fact that Demir was lying.

Candan still disappoints; how long will she be able to stay away? I really don't think she will go to Bulgaria.

Hi Rgv Chick. I love your idea of Asu continuing to refuse her father's money, so he wills it instead to his granddaughter, Oyku! But alas, I think you're right that Cemal would find a way to thwart that.

I wasn't troubled by Sevgi's taking some time before intervening when Oyku was unable to continue to write on the blackboard. I assumed that Sevgi didn't realize that there was a physical problem but thought that Oyku was just stuck mentally and was trying to work it out. She wanted to give Oyku time to do so.

I too was sure that the game was up for Ugur and Demir. I'm not exactly sure how/when Demir hid/got rid of the book Korkmaz had hired them to deliver. Frankly, it seemed VERY strange that Korkmaz needed to hire someone simply to drop off a book, and especially to pay them partly in advance for their services. Demir seemed somewhat suspicious of the deal as well, and perhaps he made the swap well in advance, bringing along his daughter's schoolbooks.

Just for the record, dondi356 did Thursday's recap and I did Friday's.

Oh, so sorry, Juanita, mil disculpas! That’s what I get for rushing with the comment.

The reason I think that Sevgi took too long was because Oyku gave her the answer orally and then hesitated to write the response. I suppose the teacher in me is coming out; I would have questioned her hesitation since she had already demonstrated that she knew the answer.

Good point, Rgv Chick. I guess the teacher in me has been out of the classroom for too many years. Not that I'd want to be back--especially not now.

Hija

I wish I could take credit for Friday’s fine recap, but the credit goes to Juanita. Thank you so much Juanita.

I like your comments and analysis, RGV Chick. “appropriate attire (this time)” lol

The recent episodes have been particularly heartbreaking and unfortunately, we will be in for more before this is over. I'm just hoping for a happy ending.

Yes, Candan still disappoints us all. I agree something will keep her from leaving at the last minute.

Sevgi, please buy a clue.

I think Cemal is going to convince Asu to go for the money. I can’t figure out if he really cares for her or not. He rescues her but then he uses her for revenge.

I do believe that Demir is on to Korkmaz and hopefully Cemal, too. I thought it was strange how he stopped at the store to get water in the middle of a caper. Did he hide the book somewhere in the store? Or perhaps as Juanita suggested, he did something with the book earlier. Anyway, it’s a good thing he didn’t tell Ugur about his plan; he probably would have blabbed and tipped off the cops.

Loved your recap, Juanita! Especially Sherlock Oyku.

Something still isn't adding up for me. I recall the very brief mention by Asu to Zendep (Yay! I remembered her name; hope I got the right vowels in the right place). When she was, IIRC, trying to convince Zendep to take the baby (or perhaps continue to care for the child), she mentioned being able to afford the monthly sums because "he" was very rich.

But, when Cemal tells her about her father, she seems stunned and never to have known she had a rich father. So...is this an oversight by the writers or is there another "he"?

Demir definitely smells a rat about Korkmaz and his unusual generosity. Even knowing Cemal is behind it, I was wondering why Cemal gave Korkmaz so much as an advance.

So this time Cemal walked right into Asu's apartment without even knocking. And, even though he tells her it's an awful place, it doesn't look that bad to me!

So Demir paid for the medicines, but I remember there being at least three kinds the pharmacist mentioned. Why is Demir only giving her one?

Juanita, your recap clarified something for me. Sometimes I slow down for the details and re-watch; other times I let them roll right on by. I thought the caper was the same as before. And that Korkmaz described a rare book that they were to go steal. Apparently Korkmaz gave them the item only to deliver. This made Demir's clever evasion of the police trap even better.

Thanks very much, dondi356 and novelera, for your excellent commentary.

You're so right, dondi356, about its being a good thing Demir didn't tell Ugur about his plan. It's bad enough that Ugur said "Well, it was good while it lasted" when the cops stopped them. He'd definitely have blown the whole plan, however unintentionally, had he known about it.

novelera, you've put your finger on a very puzzling and so far unresolved discrepancy concerning Asu's assurance to Zeynep about money. It's not clear that this will ever be explained.

novelera, so often your recaps help me with something I've missed or misunderstood, so I'm delighted that for once I was able to be helpful to you. Yes, Korkmaz told Demir and Ugur that all they had to do was deliver the book. I think he said they'd be couriers. I remember being very puzzled as to why he would need to pay people a substantial amount of money simply for dropping off a book. Perhaps this is part of what made Demir suspicious.
