TELEMUNDO Y MÁS (#1): Todo Por Mi Hija, Falsa Identidad 2, y más: Week of October 12, 2020

Welcome to Page #1 (Monday edition) of the Telemundo y Más page, issued twice a week: Mondays and Thursdays at 8:00 PM. Here are the current evening telenovelas (all times are Eastern Daylight Time):

• 9-10PM—Todo Por Mi Hija**
• 10-11PM—Falsa Identidad 2**

**[UPDATE!] On Monday, Todo Por Mi Hija will be preempted by the end of Exatlón's gran final. Falsa Identidad 2 will be shown at 10 PM as usual. The regular schedule will return for Tuesday and Wednesday. However, Telemundo has now changed its website to show both novelas at their regular time on Thursday. Zap2It agrees that Todo por mi hija will be shown at 9 PM, but at 10 PM Zap2It shows a special program: Trump o Biden: los latinos piden (Trump or Biden: Latinos ask). I think Zap2It is probably correct.

Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation. Since discussions of all the Telemundo novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post, so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for. By common agreement, this group DOES NOT discuss previews, trailers, or any other plot information not found in a current or past episode of the current production. Spoilers WILL be removed by the admin. This includes reference to earlier productions of the story, and even the original novel. Thanks for your cooperation!

Todo por mi hija - #28 - p 1 de 3

Wow, I don't know who was more surprised with this episode, Oyku or me?

The episode starts where the previous one left off, with Candan and Demir having a close, sad moment. She tells him that she'll be there to support him. She says, "You're a great father, and you're Oyku's hero. That's why I'm sure you'll make the best decision for her." They give each other meaningful looks again, and Candan says she should go. Demir point out that she hasn't had her coffee yet. She replies, "Let's save the coffee for another time. I'm not going anywhere." They hug each other, and we (but not Demir) see that Candan has a smile on her face as they hug.

The next morning, Oyku is taking more pains and more time getting ready for school. Demir wants to know why she's doing this. She tells him that today's the day they're picking the princess. But then she confesses, "Papa, I'm afraid. What if I forget my lines?" Demir looks at her and says, "There's no problem if you forget your lines. You don't need to prove that you're a princess. You're a heroine and the princess of my life." [At that moment, I could have kissed Demir, scruffy beard and all.] Demir then lightens the mood a bit by going on to say that it would be better if she forgot her lines, since that would get rid of Mercan.

As they're about to leave, Demir says he has something to tell Oyku. "One of my friends will pick you up from school today. Asu." Oyku expresses surprise. She thought Demir didn't like Asu. He tells her that he and Asu made up. Oyku isn't pleased. "I'd prefer Ugur," she says. Demir tells her that Ugur, too, is busy. Oyku is disappointed. "I don't want her to do it." Demir promises her it will be just this once.

After dropping Oyku off at school, Demir meets Ugur at a cafe. Ugur asks him whether it's true that he hit a client last night. Demir admits he did, and Ugur informs him that the owner of the taxi has fired him. Demir says he's got to find another job. The waiter overhears him and says he has a friend who is a real estate agent and is looking for help.

At school, the teacher announces that Oyku and Ilayda will each perform the role of the princess, and then the class will vote on who should get the role. Ilayda goes first. Her performance is full of hammy emotion. Then it's Oyku's turn. She starts, "Oh hunters, oh hunters...." and then she stops. Oops. But then she recalls what Demir said to her, and she starts again and gives a very good performance. The class votes, and Oyku wins. Sevgi tells Ilayda not to be sad, she can have the role of the evil queen!

Demir and Ugur go to see the real estate agent about a job. Ugur assures the guy that they know lots of people in the neighborhood, including rich people, lawyers, veterinarians, hospital owners, even casino owners. The guy explains that they'll get paid on commission, there's no salary. Ugur asks why no salary, and the guy explains "If you sell a house that costs a trillion [yes, he really said "trillion"!], you'd get a commission based on that price." Demir isn't convinced. He doesn't want a job that doesn't pay a salary. He gets up to leave. Ugur tells the guy that they'll think it over and get back to him.

Once back on the street, Ugur admits to Demir that he doesn't really know lots of people, he just said it to convince the guy to give them the job. Demir says they should look for something else, but what? Ugur suddenly suggests security work, perhaps with uniforms. Demir points out that they wouldn't be hired for that kind of work, since they have criminal records. Ugur then suggests delivery via a motorcycle. Demir nixes that, too--they don'thave moto licenses.
They're both out of ideas.

Todo por mi hija - #28 - p 2 de 3

School is letting out. Oyku walks down the stairs and looks around, not seeing anyone. Llayda and her friends come by, and Llayda asks, "Are you leaving alone again, Oyku? I hope you don't forget the stations." Ilayda starts reciting them. Oyku interrupts her, saying that she's not interested in listening to Ilayda. Ilayda then looks down at Oyku's feet with disdain and asks, "Are you going to be the princess in those boots?" Oyku asks, "Are you doing this because you didn't get the role?" Asu and another woman arrive as Ilayda is belittling Oyku. Asu recalls a similar episode from her childhood. Addressing Ilayda, Asu says, "Apparently you don't know that these boots are the latest thing. It's not Oyku's fault if you're not up on fashion." A stunned Oyku then leaves with Asu.

Oyku asks Asu where they're going. Asu has no idea. Oyku suggests the park, but Asu says it's too cold for the park. She tells Oyku to get into the car. Oyku does so. Out of sight, Ugur has been watching, and he reports by phone to Demir. Oyku asks Asu whether this is her car. No, it's a friend's. Oyku says she likes it. Asu is about to start driving when Oyku reminds her to put on her seat belt. They then drive off. Ugur follows in a taxi. They wind up at a shopping mall. Oyku is puzzled. "What are we doing here?" "Buying things," replies Asu. Oyku tells her that she doesn't like to go shopping. Asu suggests another pair of boots. Oyku says she likes her boots. Asu asks her what she'd like. Oyku can't think of anything.

Oyku winds up having an ice cream sundae. She licks the straw, and Asu tells her not to do that. Another long silence. Then Oyku says, "I like your eyes because they're so large." She uses her hands to hold her own eyes wide open. She tells Asu she'd like to have eyes like hers. Oyku then asks Asu, "Are you friends with my fatner? Where did you meet him?" Asu replies, "At an orphanage." Oyku is surprised. "At an orphanage?" Asu explains that her mother was dead, but she had a father. Oyku exclaims, "Same with me!" Asu asks whether she loves her father. Oyku replies, "Yes, a lot!" She goes on, "I never met my mother. I don't even have a photo of her."

Demir walks by a construction site. He asks one of the workmen "Who's in charge of hiring?" The workman looks at him dismissively and says, "Don't waste my time." Demir persists, and the workman calls someone named Hilmi and says that there's someone here looking for a job. Hilmi is willing to see him, and the workman tells Demir to go see Hlilmi on the 3rd floor. He's the boss. When Demir finds Hilmi, Hilmi asks him whether he has experience. "No," replies Demir, "but I need a job. I'm a fast learner." Hilmi then asks, "Do you have children?" Demir's face brightens, and he replies that yes, he has a daughter. "God bless you" says Hilmi. "Come tomorrow morning."

Asu is at a loss for what else to do with Oyku, who tells her she doesn't need anything. Then Oyku asks her what she does for a living. "Many things," replies Asu. "What do you do for money?" asks Oyku. Asu is becoming impatient. "So many questions!" she says. She then offers Oyku one of her bracelets. Oyku is reluctant to take it, thinking that Demir won't like it. Asu assures her that she'll tell Demir she gave it to her. Oyku then holds out her arm, and Asu eventually realizes that Oyku wants her to put it on her.

Todo por mi hija - #28 - p 3 de 3

Oyku and Asu are again in the car, and Ugur is still watching. Demir calls Asu to tell her he's now at home. Asu tells Oyku she's in luck, her father is home. Oyku tells her that she's not bored, and she asks whether Asu was bored with her. The car pulls up outside the house. Demir is standing there, waiting for them. Oyku opens the door and rushes into Demir's arms, with lots of kisses. Asu says "bye" and drives off.

Once inside the house, Demir asks Oyku how her day was. Oyku says they went to a cafe. Asu didn't seem to know what to do. Oyku reported that at first, she didn't like Asu, but after a while, she did. She decided that Asu is a good person. Only after she has said all this does she report that she is going to be the princess! Demir is thrilled. "Let's celebrate! What would you like to eat?"

Asu is driving. Suddenly, she turns the car around. She calls Cemal. She reported that she and Oyku just walked and went shopping. "I'm now going back to her house. I want her. And I want to do this as soon as possible. Then we will get the money. I'll call you later." She parks near the house and knocks at the door, as Demir and Oyku are eating and celebrating her triumph at school. Demir opens the door. "Why did you come back?" he asks. Asu replies, "I have something to say to Oyku." Demir stares at her with a threatening look on his face. Apparently, looks can't kill, because Asu remains alive and says to Oyku, "Oyku, I'm your mother. I've come to take you" (llevarte) Oyku looks at her silently, and then asks, "Are you my mother? My mother is dead." "No," replies Asu, 'I'm not dead. I'm here." "You're lying!" She turns to Demir and asks, "She's lying, isn't she?" "I'm telling you the truth." Oyku keeps looking from Asu to Demir. She now stares at Demir. "Oyku," he says, but she doesn't wait to hear more. She turns and runs into her room and shuts the door. Demir angrily asks Asu, "Why did you do this? We had an agreement." Asu replies, "She's entitled to know the truth."

Oyku takes off the bracelet Asu gave her and throws it on the floor. She's in tears. Demir and Asu fight. "Leave my daughter alone!" he demands/pleads. "Calm down," says Asu. In a rage, Demir pulls the tablecloth off the table, spilling what's there. "Get out of our house!" "Calm down." "Get out!!" She leaves, with that wide-eyed look that makes her seem almost in a trance. She gets into the car and drives off quickly. (Sometimes, when someone drivves off quickly, it signals the prelude to an accident, but I suspect that won't be true here. (Que lástima) )

Demir and Oyku are on opposite sides of the closed door to Oyku's room. He asks her to open the door. "Please open the door, honey. If you don't, I'll have to break it open to hug you." The door remains closed. "Why did you lie to me?" she asks. We made a promise not to lie to each other." He says, "I just found out very recently." She stands with her back to the closed door, with tears on her cheeks, as the episode ends.

Hija

What a beautifully crafted recap, Juanita! All the emotions captured. Thanks so much. I have nothing to add.

Yes, the smile on Candan’s face. Maybe she’s happy she stuck around but does she have feelings for Demir beyond friendship? We know he’s been attracted to her since first sight. He’s been a gentleman about it.

One of those moments I love: “… You don't need to prove that you're a princess. You're a heroine and the princess of my life." Agree with your comment, [At that moment, I could have kissed Demir, scruffy beard and all.] You have to get in line in back of me, Juanita.

We knew the taxista gig wouldn’t last long.

That’s what I call typecasting: Ilayda as the Evil Queen.

Glad to see Asu stick up for Oyku, but that’s about all I like. Can’t believe Oyku commented on Asu’s eyes.

So Asu decides after about an hour in the mall, that wasn’t so bad, and she is ready to be a mom to Oyku? Cemal warned her about moving too fast. Good grief. She must have brain damage from too much alcohol. Then I remembered how Demir was such a jerk in the beginning and now he’s “father of the year”. Maybe there’s hope for Asu? For the record, I’m on Team Candan. I would not want Demir to end up with Asu.

Oh boy, I get to recap the fall out tonight.

HIJA

Juanita, I think it's a 3 way tie for who was the most surprised. Despite the shocking drama, you did an amazing job at capturing the emotions and all the sordid events. Thank you!

Asu blurting out that she is Oyku's mother is going to be the talk of the patio, I'm sure. What a heartless beyotch! She was with Oyku for one very short afternoon and she thinks she can win her over easily??? The woman is not only delusional but has no clue about children. Considering what she went through, you'd think she'd be a bit more compassionate and understanding. Pure selfishness!!

The only bright spots in this episode were Candan telling Demir that she will be there to support him and Demir telling Oyku that she is the heroine and princess in his life.

I do hope Demir does well in that new construction job, but he is going through so much that he may not be able to concentrate. Will he even show up the next day??? It'll take all of his inner strength.

hija

Thanks VERY much, dondi356 and Rgv Chick, for your wonderful comments. I was really taken aback by Asu's making the revelation so soon. And if her conversation with Cemal is to be believed, she did it not because she was suddenly overcome with maternal feelings for an adorable girl, but because she's eager to speed up the process of getting the money. Arrgh!

dondi, like you, I was very happy to see Asu stand up for Oyku, and I think her feelings at that point were genuine--they came from her remembering a similar incident in her own life when she was a child. But there's no doubt that I too am on team Candan. And yes, I do think that the smile on Candan's face suggested (at least to me) something more than just friendship.

Rgv Chick, you're so right in saying that Asu is "delusional" and "has no clue about children." One can learn about children, but I'm not sure much can be done about being delusional. However, I would add one more bright spot to the two you mentioned, namely, Asu's standing up for Oyku in the confrontation with Ilayda. Actually, Oyku was doing much better than I'd expected even before Asu stepped in. Oyku was far more composed than she'd been during other encounters, and when Ilayda started mocking her by reciting the stations, Oyku tells her she's simply not interested in listening to her. And when Ilayda continues, Oyku asks, "Are you doing this because you didn't get the princess role?" Wow! Very impressive for an 8-year-old!

It looks as if Hija will be shown at 9 pm on Thursday as usual. Both Telemundo and Zap2It agree (though they disagree about what follows at 10). I'm willing to put something together about the episode, but it may not be a real recap, since I have to get up early Friday morning and so I don't want to be up late on Thursday. But even if it's just a "here are some things that happened," it should provide others with the opportunity to add/correct/elaborate, etc.

hija

Juanita, let me join the chorus of praise for your terrific recap! It was a great episode and you nailed it.

I do think Asu may have some brain damage from alcohol. As a child she was timid, at least in the flashbacks they showed. But she makes impulsive decisions and seems unable to even act in her own best interests. Cemal gave her good advice, to win Oyku over slowly. But she's unable to contain her desire to get her hands on the money. While I can't exactly quote what Asu said, the gist for me was that, after spending an afternoon with Oyku and finding the child pleasant, she thought being her mother would not be so bad. And, let's get the money rolling. Too bad Oyku didn't behave like a brat!

Oyku appears to be mostly upset thinking that Demir lied to her. I liked that she threw the bracelet on the floor.

Oyku was definitely better in the audition for the role of the princess, but I also suspect that there might have been other kids in the class bullied by Ilayda. Thus, only one kid voted for her.

Wow! That rotten guy who tried to get off without paying Demir had the gall to report him.

I'm late to the party because Wednesday is my Zoom Spanish class in the afternoon. I also have to get ready for Zoom. Being somewhat vain, I have to put on a bit of makeup so as not to look like a zombie to my classmates.

Hija #29 part 1

Demir is at Oyku’s door. He apologizes. He’s so sorry. He was just trying to protect her, but he ruined it. He begs her, please open the door sweetheart. She opens the door and they are face to face, with tears in their eyes. Oyku asks Demir if Asu is really her mom. She doesn’t want her to be. She won’t tear us apart, will she? “Never”, Demir shakes his head. But she said she would take me away. Demir says, she can’t. He will never allow it. Oyku asks, if she was really my mother why didn’t she show up before? Demir doesn’t know. Oyku wants to know if Demir will leave her. He can’t even speak, just shakes his head no and hugs her tight. He finally manages to say, never, I’ll never leave you. No one will ever separate us. Never, never.

Asu is driving and she almost collides with another car. Her phone rings, it’s Cemal. She doesn’t answer and pulls over to side of the road. Flashback. Asu is at a doctor’s office. She has an ultrasound pic in her hand and says, what do you mean you can’t? You have to. The doctor tells her she’s at 15 weeks and it’s too risky. She insists; she’ll pay double. Just do it! He refuses and threatens to call security. She storms out. Asu snaps out of it and starts driving again.

Oyku and Demir are on her bed. He is holding her in his arms on his lap. He starts, Asu and I grew up in the same orphanage but one day she suddenly disappeared. I didn’t know anything about you. If I had known, I never would have abandoned you. I didn’t know your mother was Asu or that she was alive. I found out very recently. Please forgive me.

Demir was afraid of hurting Oyku and that’s why he said Asu was a friend. He didn’t want her to find out suddenly. He realizes that was a mistake. He continues, we promised we wouldn’t lie to each other again, but I broke the promise.

Oyku tells Demir, she’s nothing like me. I don’t think she’s my mother. Oyku thinks Asu might be lying. Demir says, she is your mother but don’t worry. Nothing will change and you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do. Oyku just wants her dad and Demir just wants Oyku, too. He assures her they will always be together.

Oyku wants to know if she has to love Asu and if she has to call her mom. Demir repeats, you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do. I’ll be here for you. Your dad will scare away all the bad guys. He asks, will you forgive me? Oyku responds, you are forgiven.

Cemal is still trying to reach Asu when she shows up at his door. Where have you been? He’s been calling all day. He asks about Oyku and she wants him to stop pestering her. He asks if she’s been drinking. So, Asu says she told Oyku and now they are screwed. The girl started crying and Demir went crazy. I told you so, says Cemal. Didn’t I tell you to wait? You scared her away! They argue. Cemal is worried that if Oyku stays with Demir, they will lose everything (meaning money and revenge I suppose). He tells Asu to find a way for Oyku to forget Demir.

Ugur visits casa Gokturk. Hes dying to know what happened today. Demir recounts, Asu came and told Oyku she is her mom. I opened the door and she blurted it out, without shame or remorse. Ugur is shocked. Demir says it ruined the day. How was Oyku? Ugur asks. She was devastated, of course. Ugur can’t believe this. He says that woman is insane.

dondi356

Hija #29 part 2

Demir thinks Asu is not insane and that is the problem. He is suspicious. Something must be up if after 8 years Asu suddenly shows up and wants to be a mother. Demir remembers her saying her father left her money. They need to find the father. Ugur will take the case. He will contact people from the orphanage and look into any relatives. Cemal is involved somehow, right? Of course he is—he’s trouble. A terrible thought crosses Demir’s mind and he asks Ugur, they can’t take Oyku from me, can they? After all, Asu is the mother. Ugur doesn’t think so. He gives Demir a pep talk--this won’t happen. They can’t take her away from us. Don’t worry, it won’t happen. I’m here for you.

Demir asks Ugur to pick up Oyku from school tomorrow. He found a job at a construction site. Ugur gives it two days. If Demir lasts longer than that, Ugur will shave.

Oyku is not in bed when the alarm goes off next morning. Demir calls for Oyku to get dressed. Her bookbag is on the floor, her books are all over the table. Demir calls out again, why didn’t you put your stuff away? Oyku? Oyku? Demir walks around the house and realizes Oyku is gone; her room is empty. He starts shouting for her. Thank goodness, it’s only a bad dream. Oyku wakes him but Demir is really shaken. Oyku does her best to calm him and tells him everything will be ok. Demir keeps repeating, don’t leave me. Oyku assures him she won’t leave. Tell me what happened, dad. He says he doesn’t remember, and he holds on to her tightly. It was just a bad dream.

Breakfast at Mufide’s. Oyku tells Ugur she has play practice after school today so come later. Ugur says he loves the theater. Some time ago he played the part of a tree. They all have a little fun with that.

Mufide has lunch ready for Oyku. Demir thanks her. She’s glad to do it. Ugur chimes in that his mom has lost hope of being a grandma so she’s giving her love to Oyku. Shame, says Mufide, she will live long enough to see Ugur married and she will cook for her grandchildren. Demir says don’t forget what we talked about, Ugur, and Oyku asks right way what it’s about. Adult stuff, never mind. Then Mufide gets in the act and wants to know. It’s just work stuff mom, Ugur answers.

On the way to school, Oyku asks again what Demir and Ugur are planning. Were you talking about Asu? Demir changes the subject quickly. They go over the daily rules.

Dr Ihsan calls Demir about Oyku’s treatment. He has more prescriptions. Demir is on his way. At the office, Ihsan asks if Oyku is taking her meds. Yes, every day. Demir asks if these meds might be covered by insurance. Demir mentions he tells Oyku the meds are vitamins. He hasn’t been able to admit to Oyku he knows about her illness. Ihsan thinks it’s best to tell her as soon as possible.

The class is practicing the play. Oyku gets her costume. Mercan says she looks great and that she will be just as beautiful when she grows up. Ilayda is green with envy.

Demir shows up at the construction site. The boss is impressed he showed up. Demir asks about the medical insurance.

Asu makes a hospital visit to dad. So, you’re still alive, she says to him. Relax, it’s a joke, she’s not there to fight. She’s been thinking and has made a decision. She will accept the conditions. She will take care of the girl, but she wants a copy of the will. Seems dad has been thinking, too. He has one last request. He wants to meet Oyku, even if it’s just once. What? Why would she agree to come? Asu is concerned he might tell her about the money. Dad says, if you don’t bring her, then our deal is off. I will leave you out of the will. She gets angry. How do I know any of this is for real? Dad says, call my lawyer. Tell him to show you the will. He will explain since you don’t believe me. Bring me my granddaughter. That’s all I ask.

Hija #29 part 3

Ugur meets with his contact. He hasn’t been able to find anything about Asu’s father. Ugur is determined to continue the search and get what he wants.

Asu’s dad calls the nurse. He needs a favor—a pen and paper. He asks for help to write a letter.

Ugur tells Demir he found nothing, but he has some ideas. We see Ugur walking up to Cemal’s building.

Cemal answers his door. Ugur? what do you want? We need to talk. Cemal asks him to come in, sit. Ugur will make this quick. Where is Asu’s father? You know where he is. Cemal laughs, do you think I’d tell you? Ugur says, none of this is good for Asu. What are you trying to do? Years ago, Asu got between you and Demir. Now she wants to take his daughter and you are helping her. Don’t you have a heart? You are separating a father and daughter. Why? Cemal thinks Ugur is crossing the line. Ugur continues, don’t let Asu fool you. We were friends once. Don’t let Asu use you. Cemal says that Ugur should leave before he gets hurt. Ugur tries one last time to get info. Cemal’s not budging. As he leaves, Ugur tells Cemal he won’t let him take Oyku from Demir. (I like this version of Ugur very much)

Cemal calls Asu. Where were you? She went to see her dad. He asked to see Oyku as his final wish. Why? She guesses because he’s dying. Cemal says to bring Oyku. Sure, that will be so easy, counters Asu. What if he tells her she’s inheriting money? Cemal says to keep it brief and there will be no problem. He warns her not to do anything on her own. How do I convince Demir?

The construction boss can sign Demir up for overtime if he wants it. Demir calls Candan. Can you watch Oyku tonight? Of course. He signs off with a beso, then wonders why he did that.

Cemal walks up behind Candan as she hangs up with Demir. He greets her and says he thought she was leaving. Well, she changed her mind. He’s glad. It was hard to see her leaving. Uh, he means, good neighbors are hard to come by. So, how’s your relative? The same, but I’m going to stay, Candan says, and help her. She offers coffee but he doesn’t have time now.

Cemal meets with Asu. He wants to know about her dad. Asu says he is obsessed with Oyku and insists on seeing her. Cemal says so let him see her. Asu feels her dad has no right. She doesn’t want to reward his abandonment. Cemal says, who cares. The only thing to worry about are his decisions. He onIy led her to her father for the money. He wants Asu to understand he worries about her. She is all that he has. if anyone tries to come between us, they will get hurt. (Cemal sounds pretty pathetic)

Cemal says, here’s the plan: once we leave, go to Demir’s. She doesn’t want to go, Demir kicked her out. Good he says, show you are not giving up. Get stronger. Stand up for your rights. Take the kid for a walk or something. See what Demir says. Don’t forget, you are the mother. Don’t give up. Go to his house and take her with you.

And we are out

Hija

I don't know how I managed to do it but I posted my part 2, twice. I can't delete it. Can someone delete it for me? Thanks!

dondi356

hija

dondi356, the first thing I saw when I came here tonight was your request about removing the duplicate part 2. So I did that and then read your superb recap. Wow, you covered everything and even mentioned some details I missed, such as Ugur's saying that if Demir lasts more than 2 days at the construction job, he will shave.

I'm usually pretty savvy when it comes to characters having nightmares, but I got fooled this time. I really feared that Oyku had vanished. No, it didn't make any sense, seeing how loving Oyku and Demir were with each other, but I was nonetheless worried, and then of course, relieved.

It was interesting to see the role reversal when Demir kept pleading with Oyku not to leave him, and Oyku acted like the parent assuring her child that he just had a nightmare, it's over now, and she won't leave. It's certainly not the only time Oyku has seemed to be more mature than the adults.

I wonder what Asu's father said in the note he asked the nurse to help him write.

I too liked the way Ugur doggedly set about trying to help Demir, and some of what Ugur said to Cemal. But I still wouldn't want to put Ugur in charge of anything I cared about. I don't think he knows when to stop talking. To be fair, I did think he performed better this time than at any time in the past.

I'm not sure I understand what Cemal's feelings are for Asu. In this episode, he claimed he worries about her, she's all he has, and he'll hurt anyone who tries to come between them. But at other times, he seems to disparage her and to be interested in her only because she's going to inherit money.

I wonder whether Asu's insistence on having an abortion could possibly be used against her. It was only 9 years ago, so it's quite possible that the doctor who refused to perform the abortion in spite of Asu's offer to pay him double is still in Istanbul. I'm not sure that it could be used as an argument against her gaining custody, but the fact that we've seen her recollection suggests it may turn out to be important.

hija

Terrific recap, dondi! You do such a good job of putting in the dialog.

So...did Demir lie to Oyku once again. He said they grew up in the same orphanage and then she suddenly disappeared. Obviously something more than that happened for him to be Oyku's father. But he certainly didn't mention throwing her out, shown in the flashbacks.

Demir used one of my favorite expressions: sin anestesia to describe how Asu told Oyku she was her mother.

Ugur's telling Demir over and over that Asu can't take Oyku reminds me of a phrase in English: whistling through the graveyard.

I caught on to Demir having a nightmare pretty quickly.

Demir also lied to Candan, telling her he had some sort of night art evaluation work. This is not good. Working construction for his daughter is an honorable thing and he should tell Candan the truth.

As soon as I watched the episode I googled "abortion in Turkey". It's been legal since 1983 in the first 10 weeks. Before that women were doing it secretly, with very bad outcomes. So...the doctor telling her she was 15 weeks was in line with the law. And, it's just like Asu to not notice or procrastinate until it's too late. I also suspect this might come up against her in a custody battle. But, being pro-choice, this gives me a mental confict. Anything that prevents her getting custody is good, but that's not the way I'd like it to happen.

I do not understand why Ugur gave Cemal a heads up that they were trying to find Asu's father.

HIJA

Dondi, your recap is quite impressive. I especially appreciate the dialogue since sometimes, when they mumble or speak softly, I miss part of it.

The fallout wasn't too bad; in fact it was one of many toughing moments between father and daughter.

I was fooled by Demir's dream too until I saw the empty room. Then I figured it was a bit too much.

Juanita, "It was interesting to see the role reversal when Demir kept pleading with Oyku not to leave him, and Oyku acted like the parent assuring her child that he just had a nightmare, it's over now, and she won't leave." It certainly was; thanks for putting my thoughts into words.

I too am wondering what Asu's father will be dictating...and who he is writing it to. I'm hoping it's to Oyku so that when and if Asu does bring Oyku to visit him, he can slip it to her.

I'm impressed with how Demir is thinking ahead and ensuring he gets a job that offers health insurance. I'm sure we'll be seeing Ugur clean-shaven :-) From what the doctor said, Demir will have to reveal to Oyku that he knows about her illness...looking forward to how he handles that.

novelera, I'm glad you expressed your mental conflict about the abortion issue possibly being used as an argument against Asu's getting custody of Oyku. I felt the same conflict when I raised the issue. I totally agree with your saying "Anything that prevents her getting custody is good, but that's not the way I'd like it to happen."

I also share your dismay that Ugur gave Cemal a heads up that they were trying to find Asu's father. His doing that was one of the things I had in mind when I wrote that I "wouldn't want to put Ugur in charge of anything I cared about. I don't think he knows when to stop talking."

Rgv Chick, I'm not sure I want to see Asu's father try to slip a note to Oyku. My guess is that Asu will watch her father like a hawk if/when she brings Oyku to see him. I'd rather he give/send the note to his lawyer (assuming his lawyer isn't being paid by Cemal, who seems to have a hand in almost everything).
