Imperio de Mentiras 47, 12/01/20: The Truth Will Always Out Or The Great Escape...Not

Faithful ol' dawg that Leonardo is, he now admits to Elisa that he was wrong to set the federal accountants on her businesses just to get at the bottom of her Daddy's dirty dealin's.  He asks her to run away with him and escape the long arm of the law because he knows she'll have to be the one to answer once they find what they are sure to find.  She tells him no, she cannot ask him to sacrifice his life, his family, and (most of all) his career just to protect her and their luhhhhvvv.  (Wait, wait!  This is a definite 180.  Viewerville cannot stop rubbernecking the turn is so sudden.)  In fact, she finally blurts out all the money laundering that Cobra has forced her to do on the sly.  Yup.  Those perritos (auditors) will find this out.  "--So, now do you still want to run away with me?"  (This man has got to be as dumb as a box o' rocks; it begs the question: how can such an award-winning police pro prove to be such a pea brain putz????  Ah, the lower brain at work.....)

Meanwhile, speaking of pea brains, Fabricio has listened to Cobra's mama tell him the gawd's honest truth about how she became forever chained to a wheelchair courtesy of Papi Eugenio's sadistically savage personality.  (Has Fabby nary a single memory of Ewwy's outbursts during his childhood?  Viewerville's inquiring minds want to know....)  Darth Dario, listening behind a convenient door, walks into the room once Fab has left.  Mama reminds her darling Dario that it ain't gonna be a cakewalk convincing Curley Locks that Pops is and always was a pitiless barbaric brute.

Across town, Victoria is conflicted.  Ewwy is pressuring her to agree to tell the "kids" that she and he are definitely an item these days.  He tries shaming her over her feeling her daughters' opinions of their relationship is more important than the relationship itself.  She's ticked off because he won't kick Sonia to the curb once and for all.  She ain't buyin' his reasons for keeping her in the house while she's preggers.  Could be women's intuition or possibly once bitten, twice shy, but she stubbornly holds her ground and, to top things off, upstairs we have Majo tempting an apparently (and obligatory?) lesbian Clara (Who knew???) with a playful kiss.  Clara complains that Majo is a selfish spoiled witch who is now playing with Clara's feelings. (We suppose for Majo, right?)  Majo was only trying to help Clara get in touch with her feelings, she giggles.

Outside on the lawn again, Leo and E-lies-a kiss and make up cuz she finally told him the truth.  (Yuppers.  It's definitely a real turn on for Leo.)

And in another part of Uptown, a down in the dumps Fernanda has invited Jose Luis to her apartment to ask his help in locating her son and mother.  Who does she suspect took them?  Why, Eugenio Serrano, of course.  He told her so.  JL, for his part, is too impressed with the sexratary's digs to seriously want to work a crappy missing persons case.  She doesn't care to discuss motive or to make out a police report.  She wants JL to skirt around this and tell Ewwy to give the kid and his gramma back to her.  He tells her he's a simple policeman, not some avenging angel type.  And, without some kind of formal written complaint, he cain't and he ain't.  Period.  Snicker, snicker.  "--So, then you aren't going to help me?"  He snarls his upper lip and stares over at her from the doorway.....

Back in Vicki's living room,  Ewwy complains that she's putting him off because she doesn't want sex with him.  She tells him at their age sex isn't a priority any longer; dinner out, a movie, traveling together are more what she expects out of a marriage.  He pretends to be shattered.  Then, Ewwy finally walks out on her and says it's quits.

Leo still wants to run away.  E-lies-a puts her proverbial foot down and says she's got a company and employees, and a family to support.  She cannot do such an irresponsible thing as running away from the ever so long arm of the law.  No.  He counters that he, Mario, and Adriana all can vouch for her as being threatened and intimidated to the point of acquiescing.  He insists it would buy time at least until they could develop her defense somehow.  No, his profession and their responsibilities toward others come first, says El. She won't accept anything else and walks back into the manse to underscore the score.  (Doncha just hate a gal with a real stick up her posterior?  Maybe Leo should.)

Back to Fern's problems.  JL says it's not about money, it's about her asking him to do something totally illegal--and for what?  Some vengeful play because she had Cantu's illegitimate kid and Serrano is upset about it or something?  After being Cantu's mistress, what is there possibly now between her and Serrano?  Unless she 'fesses up he's not lifting a finger.  She finally admits that Ewwy is the boy's abuelo and Fabricio is the father.  Ewwy sent Fab to London and so he never found out and doesn't suspect she had a kid, let alone his kid.  She provides for them and now that her mother is in the final stages of cancer it's important that she find the two of them.  JL finally agrees to help.

Dario and Mama are having a serious discussion about Majo.  He is still in love with her but it's going nowhere.  Mama begs him to reconsider following the same path as his daddy's.  He admits he simply cannot back out now.  He says he blew it trying to turn his life around and so the only thing left is his need for revenge.  Mama says forget that; his papi will eventually fall of his own dead weight.  Dario is more interested in making sure Ewwy pays for every blow, every beating done to Mama.

Back at the Cantu manse, the new psychiatrist is giving El instructions which she agrees to follow to the letter.  Afterward, El visits Renata and tells her she'll probably be away for a long while, but Ren will be properly cared for.  She won't go into the details.  (At least, I think so.)

That evening Clara mentions to Leslie that she's in love but doesn't tell her who the lucky person might be...

Fab drops by Fern's.  She makes up some excuse why Mama and Juanito aren't there any longer.  He will stop the nurses from coming then.   Suddenly, he asks Fern if she really loves him and she says but of course.  He says then please tell him everything she knows about his papi.  She is surprised, to say the least and we assume that is exactly how much she does say.....

Back at los Velasco, Theresa gets a text from Reynaldo that he'll take her tomorrow to the lawyer's appointment.  Terry's been packing her bags.  JL walks into the bedroom right after and they argue about arguing all the time.  He's tired of her playing the victim to Leslie so often.  He warns her that if she leaves, she leaves with nothing and Leslie stays with him.  She tells him Leslie knows perfectly well how abusive he is towards her; anyway,  she's not frightened so skedaddle.  She continues her packing and walks out of the bedroom.  He sneaks to the dresser and picks up her phone then checks it for messages or phone calls.  He sees Rey's text but doesn't let on.

Next morning Terry's is up and dressed and ready to leave.  Leslie wakes and begins giving her mama the 3rd degree.  Terry says she's got a divorce attorney appointment early and a male friend is picking her up and is paying for the lawyer.  "--I am afraid of your father so don't say a word to him.  Terry leaves.

Leslie looks at her bruised/abused belly and cries.

Over at the gallery where Dario's dirty dealings are supposed to be evaluated and authenticated (?) El is getting things positioned.  They grouse over the deal she made with him to get through this.  She tells him to stop badgering and let her do her job.  "--So, are you having 2nd thoughts about this agreement of ours?" (Hell yeah! Who in their right mind wouldn't???)  No, she's not backing out of the deal as long as he keeps away from her family.  He dares to ask how "she" is doing.  El turns around and asks instead, "--You really expect me to answer that?"  Yeah, she got him good, that time.

Cobra answers a call from Fab asking for a meet asap.  Cobra and posse head out for the appointed location.  It would seem as we beam over to Fern's apartment that Fab was calling from there and still hasn't changed from his birthday suit.  He's going in later and has an errand or two first he informs his lady love....She gets on her high horse and he gripes back again that she's not been telling him everything she knows about Papi.  (Viewerville wonders what gave him the first clue.)  She asks who's been laying this load o' crapola on him.  He insists she's working for Pops and wants to know what that's all about.  She denies it and leaves.

Rey rushes Terry to get into the car for her legal appointment.  They rush off with lurking Jose Luis unbeknownst in hot pursuit.

At los Cantu, Ren has decided she's going downstairs for a change.  She's had enough of being locked in her bedroom despite the maid's desperate insistence to the contrary.  Mama Victoria has commanded and Ren refuses to obey.  Could be a tough tongue lashing is in store for the maid.

At the Serrano's, Ewwy is staring at Sophia.  She wakes and he's ready to make nice.  Even brought juice and early a.m. snacks.  He just wants to know why the keen interest in cell phones of late, in particular Victoria Cantu's.  (Let me guess.  Being kept incognito 24/7 might have a bit to do with it.  Reaching Leo may have even more, though.)  He tells her she brings out the worst in him and he chooses not to be violent, but if she goes after Victoria's things again he won't hold back.  And another thing, he's kicking her out of their bedroom.  She gets the teensy guest room at the end of the hall now.

Downstairs at the Cantu manse, Vicki jumps on Ren for coming down.  Ren says she's going to take advantage of fewer drugs in her bloodstream; she wants to talk clearly.  When hasn't Mama ever done so, right?  Does Mama hate her because of her illness or because of Tio E's great affection towards Ren?  Like the huge beating Mama gave her after reading an immoral letter from Tio.  (If I heard right.)  Well, Ren will never forget.

So, Terry and Rey (sly devil) are in a hotel room (?WTQ?) post appointed meeting with the attorney(?)  Terry decides to have a last fling with Rey there.  (Caution, Will Robinson!)

Ren accuses Mama of being jealous.  Sly glances for forever and a day between Tio Ewwy and Mama hadn't gone unnoticed.   Vicki took advantage of Ren's illness, made her out to be crazy so that nobody would believe anything she'd said.  Vicki denies, but Ren insists even her daddy knew.  Victoria says there was never anything illicit between her and Ewwy.  Now, why did Ren return home?  Why did she have to...Ren says to get the last laugh essentially at having overcome it all.  Mama left Ren without a child or a husband, anything.  "--What do you want?"  Ren says to be left alone and to become invisible to her witch of a mother.  Ren races outdoors to catch up with Majo.  Where's El been all this time?  Not just here but traveling to N.Y. and so on.  Majo admits that Darth Dario has been forcing her to do illegal things for him.  Majo stresses that no, she's not gone back to be with him.  Suddenly there's a commotion at the gate and Ren races over.  Mauricio is all a dither.  He's got important news for Renata and it cannot wait so he escaped to deliver the huge 411.

⦁Fern has a change of heart and suddenly decides to admit her lies about her mother and her great embarrassment about her origins in the vecindad to Elisa.  After getting her scholarship and entering the school, she decided to hide her background from El and all their friends.   Sorry for the big lie, blah blah.....

Back at Motel Seis, Adri and team are checking into a dead body lying in bed.  The receptionist reports that the couple came in and were there for 15 minutes or so and then the woman began appealing for help.  JL suddenly walks into the room and asks for details.  The man wasn't alone.  He was there with a woman.  "--Hooker or lover?"  Dunno yet.  She is there hiding in the bathroom.  The camera pulls back and said dead dude is no other than Reynaldo in the graying flesh.  He's got a huge red stain chest high on his undershirt.  Have they questioned the woman yet?  Nopers.  Adri and the other cop are looking very sheepish about now.  JL yells at them.  "--What's your problem?  Get her out of there and start interrogating her!!"  Adri bangs on the door and pretty much says come out or they'll be coming in and dragging her out.  Lo and behold it is a terrified Theresa now facing none-other-than an angry-looking and oh so shocked and hurt Jose Luis.  Ruh-roh.  (Viewerville is anxious to know if and what she must have heard when the kill was going down.)

⦁Meanwhile, Fabricio arrives at Cobra Central and is shocked, shocked at the surroundings while he's being patted down by a couple of the many gun-toting goons.  "--Welcome to the real world, Little Bro."  "--What is this place???"  "--This is Operations Central of Eugenio Serrano.  We give, shall we say, preferential treatment to his clients here."  "--So then you were the ones who kidnapped Majo and forced Elisa to money launder for reasons of illegal art trafficking."  Smart dude.  There's a reason Papi paid for your expensive education and Dario says as much.  "--Amazing your powers of deduction.  Did you learn that at the university?"  "--Answer me!  Did my father give you the orders or not??"  "--Surprised?  Welcome to the real world, bro.  Eugenio Serrano is the one who manipulates our lives, that of Elisa and her family and yours...and mine."

Thank you Jardinera, you filled in some blanks with this fabulous, snarky, clever recap!

I thought that something iffy was going on with Tio and Renata way back. There was this icky hug (more like a huuuuggggg) that he gave her one time that got me to wondering. So that's why Vicky hates Renata so much!

I called Clara being a lesbian a few weeks ago! There were some vibes in some of the scenes between her and Majo earlier in, and then the scene where she, Leslie and Majo were chatting and Leslie asked Clara if she liked any "chavos o chavas" that made me suspect that a reveal was imminent.

Wow, talk about a sudden transition with Reynaldo being killed. I was like, "Is there a scene that was cut out here?" Wow, weird.

I'm starting to feel sorry for Fernanda now, and I never thought that would happen.

Thanks again for your fab recap!

Jardinera, thank you so much for that bouncy recap.

Yikes , all of sudden we see Rey all bloody in a bed . No redemption possible for Cromagnon man JL now. He has turned into a true monster now .

Thanks, Jardinera, I loved your zingers !

I agree with Elisa, running is not the answer, Leo must be out of his mind to even suggest it.

So JLow killed Rey while Tere was in the bathroom ? Is this what we're supposed to believe ?

Black cats, I do remember that hug between Ren and Eww, it was nauseating.
So Eww had the hots for a very young Ren (maybe younger than Leslie), Icky noticed and started making up stuff about Ren, finding the right doctors to turn her mad... Good old Vick did have her eye set on Eww all along. To think she acted so shy with him at the beginning... Maybe she did kill Augie after all.

Jardinera! Thanks again. Great snark. So Eewwww is panting to get down with Vic who we learned, has lusted after HIM all these years and which was ratted out to Auggie by Ren. So that's why she has been 'cray cray' all these years. Supposedly.

No wonder they always show Vid full front. From the side, she looks like my water heater! Ewww wants to roll around with THAT! Go for it big boy.

Cop Cats: Feel sorry for FerNasty? Ha! She has worked overtime to earn what she is reaping.
More later, coffee calls.

Mr. Folger's say hello to the patio. OK so they can check off the 'pedophile' box on their bingo sheet. And what is it called when a parent hates her offspring, well, whatever it is, the writers have that Bingo square covered too.Thank God there are no pets in this show, I can only imagine what they would dream up for poor Fido.

Leo's MENTION, nay, even THOUGHT, much less pleas to E-lies-a about running away is grounds for no loyalty from the entire patio. Doofuss, Numbnuts, pantywaist, little boy, talk about not letting your personal life affect your job! I have never actually seen a grown man get P-Whipped in only two applications, but I'm told it could happen. Isn't that almost like gay, once removed?

So Clara wants to know how a girl can decipher if she is in Luuuurve? Oh My! Clara may be better for Majo than Dario, but Majo might not be better for Clara than ...um...anybody. Is Katy Perry single right now? "I kissed a girl..and I liked it"

Don't you just love it how these people all, like to 'tell all' when it will benefit them, and they (Fer?) have so many secrets that they can spill their guts and look like they are coming clean while saving the worst secrets.

Kudos to JL. He solved a number of problems, but why didn't he get Frog while he was at it and really clean things up? Now Rey's wife is not supporting a no good cheating husband who can not afford to leave her. Frog might think twice before she finds a new boyfriend, but Leslie would prolly actually be better off without her. It's a TN, right? Think about Ren and Vic.

"Ah, the lower brain at work.....)". Most excellent.

Jardinera, your cleverness and wit were on full display. I love your recaps.

I'm still trying to absorb everything we learned last night. I have no doubt Fab is doing the same.

Elvira and Adriana Noel, I also remember Ewww's cringe worthy hug of Renata early on. As incomprehensible and as stomach churning as Renata's accusations were, everything she said rang true. Trying to process why she murdered her daughter's child and ensured she would bear no others is now gruesomely transparent. Hate at an unparalleled level. We knew Icky hated her daughter but the monstrous depths to which she sank is unfathomable.

And poor Mauricio who, without thought to any consequences for himself, risked everything to scurry and tell Renata the truth.

"Good old Vick did have her eye set on Eww all along... Maybe she did kill Augie after all" is entirely possible Adriana Noel.

Leo's ill advised begging to Elisa to leave with him disappointed and disenchanted.

"Don't you just love it how these people all, like to 'tell all' when it will benefit them, and they (Fer?) have so many secrets that they can spill their guts and look like they are coming clean while saving the worst secrets". So true Kirby. Even though Fer is trying to save her skin, there is much in her vault waiting to be revealed.

JL is a cold blooded killer who made the major mistake of having Mario look up info on Rey when he should have done it himself. Rookie error.

Jardinera, thank you for the fabulous recap.

Diana

Jardinera, thanks for bringing me up to date. This wasn’t OnDemand this a.m. As I read your very find recap, I could picture it all in my head. : )

O Jardinera, your turn of phrase is just delightful. I am collecting names for when I start my own band, and I'm having a hard time deciding...

"Daddy's Dirty Dealin's"

"Sadistically Savage"

"Obligatory Lesbian"

"Commotion at the Gate"

"Gun-Toting Goons"

But I think the winner is...

"Underscore the Score"

I was watching without Spanish subtitles and the Blue Lad was talking REALLY LOUD on the phone the whole time, so I had a hard time following two of the conversations:

First, was the inappropriate letter from Eu to Ren or from Ren to Eu? I thought the latter, and that led me to the possibility that she is actually his daughter. That would explain why Victoria freaked at the idea of any possible romance between them (although it seems unlikely that he would not at some point suspect -- unless a night with Vic is truly forgettable.)

Second, when Eu told Sonia she couldn't sleep in that room any longer, I was confused as to whether he was telling her she couldn't share with him and had to sleep on her own or that she couldn't sleep on her own and had to share with him. Frankly, the second option is way scarier.

Thanks Jardinera for a witty and fab recap!
The plot thickens as more truths are revealed.
The writers needed a reason to ensure that Elisa would tell Leo the truth about her involvement with Dario. So they chose the “escape’ idea, putting his love for Elisa before all other considerations! But that was so inconsistent with Leo’s upright character! What a poor choice by the writers!
Is it possible that Renata was sexually abused by Eugenio?
I may not have understood the dialogue correctly but I thought that Victoria had found a love letter that Renata wrote to Eugenio. Eugenio was also in on the decision of sterilizing Renata. Was he trying to show his total support for vicious Victoria?
And JL will be caught for the murder of Reynaldo with the help of Mario, who looked up Reynaldo’s license plate for JL.

Jardinera, you were really rockin' with this one, thank you for the delicious sides.

Well, we all knew something was just not right between the Tio/Renata relationship; and I too remember that icky hug plus the odd looks. It was Ren who sent Ewww a love letter..and Vic must have found out and beat her. So we now get a glimpse of what Ren had to endure as a child--being hidden when visitors were present and some?? beatings. I think Renata has Vic pegged quite well, but I don't think Vic and Ewww had anything going more than "looks" when Auggie was alive.

Blue Lass, Ewww told Sonia to find herself another bedroom because he probably wants his bedroom available for whenever he convinces Vic to join him there.

Kirby, "Kudos to JL. He solved a number of problems, but why didn't he get Frog while he was at it and really clean things up?" If he had killed Frog, then he would have been the prime suspect'; and he's not that stupid. He probably wants Frog to look like scum in the eyes of his mother and daughter. What better way to get his family's pitiful support than to play the scorned husband.

Susanlynn, " No redemption possible for Cromagnon man JL now. He has turned into a true monster now ." ITA now how did he go from loving brother and husband to Cromagnon JLow, quite extreme writers :-?

There are times when I start feeling sorry for Fer, but it's only lasts a nano-second. She has dug her own hole knowing fully well who Ewww really was and what he is capable of doing. I've never really understood her hatred for Eliesa, but that's the excuse she's used to explain her desired to take everything from that Can'tDos...and this includes being a CHBitch toward her mother and son. So nopis, she gets no pity from me.

Thanks for the clarifications, Rgv Chick. My captionlessness has been going really well, but I can only handle one noise source at a time. ;}

Fe, thanks to you also for confirming the who's who of the letter-writing.

OK so if Ren just had a girlish crush and wrote a love note, and she was really young, that is one thing. BUT if she was past puberty and writing something like that to a non blood relative, up the family's ass 24 / 7 pervert like EWWW (He has earned an all Caps EWWWW now) then there is something wery wery wong.

But Vic-ious' approach is like checking the oil wher you have a flat.

From what I understood Ren's problems started when she was very young, I can't remember what age they mentioned. But it does look like it was a girlish crush that her mother turned into a sin.

Loved the recap and the comments, too. Brightens rea!ity.

My question is why would anyone ever have a crush on Ewww no matter the age ? Can't imagine it. Likewise JL.

Eww and Icky have had the hots for each other through the years ????. Have at it , but don't make me watch it. Does Icky own jammies or does she just wear those slacks, and blouses to Bed, too? And I dont even want to think about Eww in his night wear.

Blue Lass, I think you should go with "Commotion at the Gate." I always get a " commotion" vibe when I am enjoying your recaps .

Jardinera654, good writing girl. It
Is refreshing to see the plot is thickening up and moving right along.

Leo can't quit get into the groove cuz his own family drama is on the rocks rollin. He may have to either arrest his twisted brother or kill his crazyass brother.Cuz I Think he killed reynoldo.

He comes waltzing in there like he
Don't know what's going on and he just murdered his wife's lover. She
Should have been more careful. And now she is scard sh**less. JLower
Is worst than his ol man was.
Leo won't get in on it tilhe starts to see the blackness from hell in his Own family. Cuz right now he's in Lala love land. He really needs to snap out of it cuz stuff fixen to fly.

I was watching the convo between ren and the bitchmomma and the look in vicious eyes and thelook on Her face, that woman hates her daughter
But I'm glad ren didnt let her get the best of her this time, and she
Had the last word too, good for you
Renata. Man to night is gonna be a
Doozy of a fight.

The two brothers that got stuck wit
Rug's DNA might be a force to be reckoned with.

Whats up with fernasty? She is now growing a conscience? Might be to late, but time shall tell. Will lil
Juanito grownup without momito in
The highlands of england with the little prince of whales as a play pal or Mexico where stuff happens?
Time will tell.

I thought the rug was gonna strangle Sonia. Sonia did too. She
Probly needed to go to the bathroom after that encounter. What is he trying to do playin as nice as he can, cuz he thinks he's gonna get
Giggy with vicky master bedroom? Wonder If he put her in the guest room the Closest to where she was so she could hear horrific sex noises from Him and vicious? We just had the presidential election from hell we don't Need to be subjected to any more mental trauma. Ok that's it for now gotta go.

Thank Jardinera. Stay safe yall.

Susanlynn, that was my second choice. ;}

Nina, yes,the look on Icky's face when Ren was speaking truth to her was frightening. As they say, if looks could kill. Icky absolutely hates Ren.

Yes, the expressions were priceless. Now we know the source of Vicky's hatred. What a toxic woman.

The actress who plays Vicky is so beautiful, and while not as slender as she once was, hey, she's middle aged. She just needs to dress a little more carefully. Yet they chose the WORST wardrobe for her.

She should never wear those pants again. They are waaay to tight. And
The body is not cooperating no more . Wardrobe help on stage 3. Pronto!

Nina, "The body is not cooperating no more" was perfect! :)

The waist is not most middle aged women's friend. Ick needs to wear loose the pants. Tthe tucked in shirt is a no no. Dresses without a defined waistline would be better.

Two Black and White Cats, I agree that Leticia Calderone is very pretty, but as you and Susanlynn noted, her face, twisted with hate toward her daughter was so disturbing.

Rgv Chick, I'm immune to feeling any pity for Fer as well. At least for now. Those "I wish you'd disappear" looks she always gave her son had me shiver.

Diana

If I were Vic-ious, I would not be caught DEAD in those hip waders with El prancing around in her sprayed on jeans.

"The body is not cooperating no more," Nina , girl, you speak the truth . I appreciate the giggle that gave me.

Jardinera: Thank you very much for the detailed recap. It was AWESOME.

UA: Leslie's abused & bruised belly ? WTH ? I hope she wasn't violently beaten.

Kirby: Majo giggling while kissing Clara. What's next: making out with Leslie.

I'm getting a feeling Univision will do a lesbian Telenovela in the future 😎

Susanlynn: Big question is who'll out Leslie as a lesbian to the public ?
