Imperio de Mentiras Lunes 12/21820, Chapter 63: Mind Games

Hitchcock couldn't think of psychos worse than these.

In the midst of a conversation about Elisa, Dario put Fabricio in a headlock from which he managed to escape. They talked about working together to bring Eugenio down. Fabricio said he needed a week to gain the old creep's confidence. Dario probably took that under advisement, as he said nothing in return.

Victoria tried to order Fernanda out of “her” house. Eugenio said he had two things he needed to discuss with her, which provoked another insult out of Victoria about Fernanda's lack of morals. This succeeded in getting Fernanda to leave, telling Eugenio she was willing to talk to him later if he could “control his woman.” This provoked an argument with Victoria that brought out the bile in both of them. He even threatened her by saying that Fernanda knew too much about how Augusto involved her and her daughters in his dirty business. Victoria left the room looking unfazed by this, leaving him to have a silent tantrum.

Christina tried to stop Leo from walking out by saying “We have to talk about us”; he pointed out that there was no “us.” She then suggested that they talk about someone who was in danger, he took this to mean Elisa and she said she would see him at her favorite restaurant.

José Luis told Adriana that Sonia could not be counted upon to testify because of the stress it would put on her health and her pregnancy, so it would not help Leo. He tried to then get her out of his office but she wanted to talk about their relationship. He said that it would be best if they stopped seeing each other. “For a while.” This was about his sense of guilt and what was going on with his family... despite his claim that he loved Adriana. She didn't buy this and walked out.

Leo went to the Cantú mansion to tell Majo and Renata that Dario had escaped. This would make Elisa's situation worse. Majo became upset and ran up the stairs. Leo then explained to Renata that Sonia had also disappeared after failing to give a statement. He speculated – based on what he had heard – that she was in hospital. Renata wondered whether she had returned to Fernanda's apartment, which surprised Leo. Renata told him that Fernanda had fooled everyone. He told her not to leave Majo alone because Dario was likely to look for her.

Clara was hanging out with Leslie when Majo called her to come over. She was nearly hysterical as she told her that Dario had escaped. Clara told her she was afraid of him and couldn't comply with her request. She ended the call, which sent Majo to looking for a bottle of booze that was not in its usual hiding place.

Elisa had heard of the escape and called Fabricio because she was worried about Majo. He played the concerned one, telling her that he would get more security around the house and he was doing all he could to get her out. The hypocrite then told her to trust her lawyer. She wanted to see him the next day and he said “If they let me” as the lame implication that he might not be there. Right after he ended the call Eugenio entered his office demaning to know who helped Dario escape. Fabricio named Dario's lawyer.

José Luis went home and had to face Leo's questions about Sonia, which he didn't like. He left the room shouting that he didn't torture her.

Majo confronted the maid about the liquor and Renata had told her to lock it all up. Renata tried to tell her that she gave the order for her own good. She could not understand how Majo could even care about Dario after what he had done to them all. Majo could not have been in her right mind when she accused Renata of not being in hers. She finally picked up her purse and ran out.

Fabricio feigned ignorance of Dario's escape and expressed concern about the current inability to get him to change his statement. Eugenio closed the office door and told him that Dario was their enemy. Fabricio asked if there were “issues with your fiancée.” Eugenio was more worried about Fernanda and warned him that she knew too much. He was to persuade her to leave the company. Fabricio knew that this came from a conflict with Victoria and needled him a little. Eugenio didn't rise to this and told him that he was to get Fenanda to trust him again and at the right moment ditch her and take her son.

Teresa found José Luis preparing to sleep on the couch and said he could come back to the bedroom with her. He told her in no uncertain terms that he would not and more, that he never wanted to touch her again for the rest of his life. She went back up the stairs, ignoring his request to turn out the light.

Dario found Majo at her watering hole. Despite his attempt at persuading her he would change his statement she did not want to deal with him. He told her there was a change of plan and they would go away together. She tried to tell him off. She took out her phone and started to call Leo but he grabbed her hand to drag her out. She shouted to the other customers that he had threatened to kill her.

In a more elegant establishment with no smoke in the air Christina sat waiting for the reluctant Leo. When he arrived she said to sit, indicating the chair to her right. He deliberately sat in the one opposite her instead, telling her he was not staying for dinner. She said they were going to have a toast and signaled the waiter to pour champagne. She touched his glass; he did not return the gesture. He got up and told her he wasn't going to play her game. She said “Think of it this way; this dinner will save a life. It could be yours.”

Dario tried to convince Majo that he would help Elisa. He would need only five days. She didn't believe him, said so, and ran out. He didn't try to stop her.

Leo told Christina he knew she was working against him. Christina kept up her mind games. He got up to leave without consuming any of the champagne and this praying mantis said they would be together again. He walked out.

Mario arrived at Adriana's place at her summons. This was to talk about how too many things had been going south for Leo, starting with Sonia. Mario pointed out, confused though he was about this, that Julia's murderer is likely to be a member of Elisa's family, so if Leo found this out he would lose her.

Renata woke Majo out of her stupor the next morning and Majo told her about her conversation with Dario. Renata asked her why she didn't call Leo and she said that Dario needed time. Renata said that Elisa needed to be in court that day and she was going. Majo tried to get out of bed, Renata shoved her back and closed the door on her way out. She called for Marta to come with the key.

Leo went to Fernanda's apartment to look for Sonia. Fernanda denied that she had ever been there but Leo knew better. She continued to lie about this but Leo pointed out that he knew that Eugenio was behind this and that he would fall sooner or later, and all his accomplices with him. Juanito looked from around the doorjamb and Leo pointed out that Fernanda would not want to leave him without a mother.

Fabricio and Victoria arrived at the lockup. He tried to explain to her that Elisa's lawyer would make sure that her situation was presented appropriately.

Adriana asked Leo how his dinner date went and he told her that it was not. What he was sure of was that someone in the precinct had betrayed him. Adriana told him that the only people who knew Elisa would be turning herself in were herself and Mario, so it was neither of them. José Luis' name came up regarding Sonia; both Leo and Adriana suspected that something had gone sideways with that interrogation. Adriana's phone rang. It was Garcia, saying that Elisa would be before the judge in half an hour. As they walked out she talked about how the testimony would contradict Dario's earlier statement.

Elisa was taken to the prisoner's dock in the courtroom. She saw that Renata and Victoria were there.

Eugenio went back to playing mind games with Fernanda, saying he wanted Renata and Majo out of Groupo Cantú. Victoria would remain. He then said she should be able to handle Fabricio and get him back so he would forget Elisa. Further he wanted her to find out whether Fabricio helped Dario escape. She asked him why and he said that he needed to know whether he was their enemy.

Elisa's lawyer pointed out that the arrest warrant against Elisa was drawn up only on the word of the known delinquent, Dario Ramirez.

Christina entered José Luis' office, closed the door and tried to blackmail him into terminating Adriana's employment. If he failed to do so she would investigate the allegations of an improper relationship between him and Adriana.

Elisa's lawyer spoke about her being a blackmail victim of a ring of art smugglers and money launderers. Further, that she was working with the police to end this. The prosecution said that all the bank deposits of the laundered money happened after Majo's kidnapping.

Victoria started getting worried.

José Luis called this extortion, but Christina pointed out that this is part of the investigation that began after Tapia was found dead. There were a lot of millionaire accounts found. He told her that if she had anything on him to reveal it. She said she wanted to negotiate but he wouldn't. He had suspended a number of cops who were suspected of corruption. He asked if any of them were looking for revenge. She tried to change the turn of this conversation, finally asking him if he had five million pesos in the bank. He said he had been savong money for his daughter, but she went on about how an honest cop didn't earn enough to save that much. She threatened to continue investigating it and Leo would not like what she will find if he didn't agree to her offer. He said he could not fire Adriana for no good reason. She said to convince her to resign and say that it was “in the name of our love”. She would then stop investigating their relationship and forget about his suspicious bank account. “I want her out of this precinct. Fast.” Women like this preying mantis always know that another woman can spot them more easily than men can.

Elisa testified that she discovered the illegal activities after her father's death and that Dario had forced her into this after kidnapping Majo. She had tried to escape from it but could not. The prosecutor wanted to interrupt but the judge shut him up. She had helped Leo who later arrested Dario and Dario's accusation against her was part of his revenge. The judge asked why she didn't make this accusation when she was arrested. She told him it was fear because he had connexions in and out of the prison. She feared for her family. The prosecutor accused Elisa of having a power struggle for control of the criminal organization. Elisa's lawyer said he could not make these accusations without proof. If there was no proof, his client must be set free.

Victoria and Renata asked the lawyer if they could talk to Elisa. He told them they would have a chance after these proceedings were over. Leo arrived. Renata tried to talk to him but Victoria stopped her. However, the judge decided that Elisa's failure to report the crimes was complicity, so she would remain incarcerated.

Leo got to the window and told her he would do everything possible to get her free.

Thank you Urban. The one gem which really stood out to me was

"Women like this preying mantis always know that another woman can spot them more easily than men can." WOW how true. Very insightful Urban. And too, she has her side deal with Super Mario.

Mario and Adri (even a blind hog finds an occasional acorn) are beginning to see what has been slapping them in the face, that SOMEBODY, SOMEWHERE in the popo is dirty. Ummm...who oh who?

Old Ewww is playing everyone against everyone. Well, almost everyone else is also. Nobody knows who their friend or enemy is. I am having to take notes just to keep current on who double crossed who.

Poor, poor little E-LIES-a behind bars at the hearing in her GAP hooded sweat shirt looking for all the world like a homeless little twelve year old.

Thanks again.

Outstanding Urban. From the title, to the screen shots, the relating of the story - all was infinitely better than the episode itself.

Ewwww "brought out the bile" - absolutely. So many lies spewed to so many.

His "silent treatment" truly will not last long. His patience with Vicky is likely already waning and I cannot wait until his fury is unleashed, unabated.

"In a more elegant establishment with no smoke in the air", the hunter fails to bag her prey.

"Leo...speculated – based on what he had heard – that she was in hospital". Is he so obtuse he actually thinks that is the case??? And if he really considers that a possibility, why isn't he moving heaven and earth to find Sonia?

It's obvious JLouse has addled Adri's brain although the alarm bells should be screaming loud and clear. And Crisbitch knows some if not, all...

"He told her in no uncertain terms that he would not and more, that he never wanted to touch her again for the rest of his life" Tere finally lucks out. But, her making the offer shows she has learned little.

"Mario pointed out, confused though he was about this, that Julia's murderer is likely to be a member of Elisa's family". He's not the only one confused. Julia's murder seems so very long ago yet is at the crux of this still unraveling mystery.

Does Fab really think he can stay one step ahead of his father??

Seeing Icky Vicky and Renata together at the jail seemed surreal.

Thank you Urban!

Diana

At the very opening, as Fab gets out of the headlock, FabraDoodle talks about bringing down their Father. The possibly only bright spot in this episode, but Dario did not wholeheartedly agree. Actually he said nothing, and I thought it a tad strange, as his whole reason for life, before MoJo, was revenge against the man.

That teamwork would be a welcome relief even though both working together still might not be enough positive to overcome the tremendous evil of Ewwww.

Boy the bloom is sure off the rose in the Ewww Vic mutual admiration society. Good!

Thank you, Urban! The recap and screenshots are as impressive as ever!

It started out that Fer was the one playing everyone against each other and now it's Ewww; are they taking turns? And, of course, the baddies don't trust each other and are out only for themselves; so , so there is no communicating or trying to work together to come out of the mess they have made for themselves. I've completely given up on Dar and/or Fab getting together with Leo to bring down Ewww.

Kirby, "Mario and Adri (even a blind hog finds an occasional acorn) are beginning to see what has been slapping them in the face, that SOMEBODY, SOMEWHERE in the popo is dirty." True, but Adri is blinded when it comes to JLuis; so Mario bringing up that Sonia had shut down after JLuis went in to the interrogation room was useless. Adri would rather suspect Mario than her big hairy ogre.

Diana, "Does Fab really think he can stay one step ahead of his father??" Stoopid, isn't he? Fab is barely on training wheels and he wants to go up against a pro.

Kirby, " FabraDoodle talks about bringing down their Father. The possibly only bright spot in this episode, but Dario did not wholeheartedly agree." I think Dario hesitated because he wants his own type of revenge against Ewww...and that's probably to maim him for life, if not kill him. Dario would probably prefer Ewww dead rather than share a prison cell...or even an entire prison, with Ewwww.

Kirby, the way this has twisted and turned, I don't think Fab and Dario by themselves are enough to vanquish Ewwww.

Dario only has the limited power Ewwww is willing to "give" him. And Rgv as you point out "Fab is barely on training wheels". Indeed, Eugenio already senses Fab is betraying him. His radar senses any bit of treachery, even if unconfirmed.

I think a wild card is needed. But who? Leo needs to be eliminated as he can't even find persecuted, pregnant Sonia. Adri is too besotted with JL and Mario is always on the periphery.

Could JLouse finally grow a conscience and turn? Otherwise, I'm out of speculation and ideas.

Diana

Diana: Girl Power! Renata will finally figure it all out. She has absolutely nothing to lose. When you are at the bottom, the only way to go is UP.

She already knows far better than anyone that her Mom and Eww Tio Rug are evil to the core. Mom for sure, and we don't know yet exactly what her story is with Ewww, but any guess is unsavory.

Her mom took away her ability to have loving children, Ewww killed her husband. Her mom drugged her and pretended she was insane for DECADES, she has only remnants of a relationship with her two dysfunctional sisters. Renata has little if nothing to lose. It is people like her who go out in a blaze of glory. Or, we can hope, undo great evil and find redemption and happiness.

" But who? Leo needs to be eliminated as he can't even find persecuted, pregnant Sonia."

Yeah, how does he spend his time? Exactly WHAT does Leo do all day? Spend most of the day in the bathroom thinking about E-Lies-a? :-)

Urban, thank you for reporting all the various and sundry crazy going on in last night's episode. The photos were also great.

Last night , as we went from scene to scene , I just kept thinking .. " Wait? what? " All the innocents are dense and so easily manipulated by the evil, crazy folks. Then , we have semi evil Fab who doesn't seem to know what he is now, but has no problem keeping his one true love Eliesa in that dirty, depressing jail cell .

The evil is so blatant in these characters, but none of the good folks can find a clue.

What exactly is CrazyCrissy's endgame ? At this point, has it occurred to her that she will have to drug and tie down Lazy Leo to have her way with him . "No" means" no", girl . And yet, she has that sarcastic tone in her voice and arrogant look on her face like she's got this . Watching her try to manipulate Neanderthal JL was interesting . Two nasty souls without scruples or morals sitting down taking each other's measure .

Leo looks constantly dazed and confused as he just wanders from place to place telling people the obvious . Captain Leo Obvious reporting for duty , Bro. WHere, oh, where is Sonia ? Hey, maybe try actually Checking hospitals for her !

Speaking of JL, wow...Tere offers to welcome him back into the bedroom ( yuck) ....an offer he quickly refuses . Then, he breaks up with Adriana . Really , writers, are we supposed to buy JL's mystical magnetism with these two women ? Really ?

Maybe the most unbelievable scene last night was Icky putting her arm around Renata' s waist while witnessing Eliesa 's fate...and Ren allowing her despised mother to do so. I expected a loud " Don't touch me! "

And the three sisters trifecfa...1) Drunk, 2) crazy,3) incarcerated .

What can insightful recap Urban, thank you.

I'm very confused about Fabricio's character. Please help—is he a good guy, bad guy, or both???

The writers for this novela are terrible. Stupid side plots, e.g. Teresa killing Raymundo, Leslie.

I'm going to be really pleased off if this novela ends badly. But with GG as the producer, I should anticipate the worst. If it wasn't for AB, I probably would not have begun watching this telenovela. Hopefully, 'Café con aroma a mujer' and 300+ episodes of 'Criminal Minds' will keep my mind otherwise occupied.

ITA with everyone's comment.

"And the three sisters trifecta...1) Drunk, 2) crazy, 3) Incarcerated."

So obvious, but seeing it in print is just downright funeeeeee. :-) :-) <:-)

Kirby, thank you for the jolt bringing me back to "reality".

I momentarily failed to recognize another possibility: the most honest, ingenious and thoughtful "person" here - Renata. Superwoman will likely have to do it herself as Majo is lapping the liquor bottle while Elisa pouts prettily in prison.

And Leo is off his game and just off kilter. I've never seen a galan so utterly lost. All high hopes are evaporated.

Victoria, I think Fab is good at the core. He's had way too much to contend with and if he weren't obsessed with Elisa think he might be acting differently. Unfortunately....I like AB too but this Tess True heart character has been a disappointment. She deserves so much better.

Susanlynn, yes, seeing Vicky and Renata side by side without Icky screaming, insulting or assaulting Renata as hard to take.

Diana

I think the writers are intentionally confusing the audience. I am finding this quite irritating.

During YNCELH we had characters telling different lies to different people about the same thing. This was very difficult to keep track of. Everyone in this story lies for a variety of motives and you guys are dumping on Elisa whose only motive was to protect her severely dysfunctional family of which she was the Golden Child and not because she wanted or tried to be. Her shock at her father's illicit activities was normal. It was also normal for her to doubt the early accusations against Eugenio. The evidence of his criminality is now coming to light one thing at a time, but due to other issues we don't have a SWAT team of Leo, Fabricio, and Dario to go after him.

I personally think that Fabricio might be looking for Eugenio's fortune to use it as a lure to get Elisa (who is nothing like her mother) while Dario primarily wants the satisfaction of being the one to bring Eugenio down. He is the only one of the three to have the stomach for murder. I personally think that making them cellmates in prison would be the vest fate for Eugenio.

Mexico is now up to episode 77, which puts us 13 episodes behind due to more pre-emptions.

I have no idea where this story is going or where it will ultimately end up. What I want is a large and in charge galan, but current tekenovelas seem to prefer to portray a strong leading lady who saves herself and the day . Perhaps it is a sign of the times and the newly favored female gaze in tv shows and movies that the newer galans are depicted as sensitive, often flawed guys . In real life, true loves make their way through life together both trying to rescue each other and their love. Real life soulmates are teammates protecting each other and the loved ones in their orbit. I am sure of this. I lived it. I would like to see that in tv shows and movies. I

Kirby..just call me Ms. Obvious .

Urban, thank you for another stellar recap. ITA with your last comment, too, Elisa might be a bit clueless, but she's not evil, and she's been sheltered all her life - having her turn into superwoman would have been entertaining, but unrealistic.

Diana, I also agree with you on Leo's inability to act, react or enact anything remotely interesting. The highlight of his life recently has been going away with Elisa for half a minute and fighting with Cristina. The first time Sonia disappeared on him he forgot all about her, how long before he forgets again?

Kirby, yes, Renata could be the key to turning things in the good guys'favor, but I'm still hoping Adriana wakes up from her lust induced blindeness and sees the writing on the wall when it comes to JL. She's witnessed several of his questionable actions, she just doesn't want to acknowledge what is going on.

Chickie, I was smirking watching Eww try to play Fab and Fer against one another. Fab working with Dario is good, but what if they brought Fer to their team, too? If they compare notes, they will find all the hidden bodies and then some.

Susanlynn, I'm also wondering about Cristina, still. Take away her character and nothing is lost, her presence is just a nuissance, they've made Leo too smitten with Elisa to actually believe that hysterical Cristina could be a serious rival.

One of my favorite things about this novela is Leo's firm stance on not being Christina. The only other telenovela where I remember this happening was FC's character, Ricardo de Salamanca y Almonte/"El Antillano", in Pasión.

A telenovela where the galán doesn't fall into the clutches of the antagonist, seems to be rare.

Susanlynn
I so agree with you:
Real life soulmates are teammates protecting each other and the loved ones in their orbit.

That's suppose to be 'bedding', not 'being'.

Victoria, Leo ain't out of the woods yet. Elisa has only been 'Out of Service' for a few days. If Chris shows up with blonde hair and wearing a little Mermaid jacket, cross your fingers. <:-)

Oh Urban this was a live one. All the liars and manipulators are on shaky ground. These dogs fixin to turn on each other. I'm shocked to see trolboo yell at his new and im-
Proved honeypot.
And who the hell does she think she is talkin about frenanda's lack of morals. She moves her butt into another womans house and tells the husband to get rid of the wife(now I know the wife has had a long and questionable past)but I like Sonia better than I do this overbearing
Mom pants wearing self centered and
Self righteous "I am an upstanding
Woman" bitch.

I dont like poodleboy. The writers
Should put him with crazy chris.
Elisa dont want you, ya got to much hair.
Did he pay the lawyer to blow her case? Since she's been remanded to the poky for the foreseeable future

And speaking of crazy chris, this
Chick is on loco overdrive."We'll be back Together again". Really? I dont think so.
Dario is...what can I say? Dario is
Dreaming of a white christmas and dancing in the snow.He is a patient man to put up with majo in her mess
Of a drunken stupor. He loves her.

How will joselooser ever bring his
Large self to fire his mattress pal
To leave the job he promoted her to
To get in her pants? And will he go
Back to his marriage bed with tere?
No that wont happen, he'll probly
Land in the poky or dead for being a dirty cop.
Maybe it's not a bad thing for him to fire Adriana, then her and Leo can get together with the new guy
Mario and bring the whole kaboose
Down.

Troll actually looks scared that stuff is about to crumble around them. I hope so. Come on tn gods give us a new years blessing. Let something go right in this place.

Very encouraging words leo spoke to his lady love, now if he can just Pull. It. Off.

Thank you Urban. Happy new year yall. And I hope it will be.

Adriana Noel, " Fab working with Dario is good, but what if they brought Fer to their team, too? If they compare notes, they will find all the hidden bodies and then some." The only problem with these three trying to bring down Ewww (and by bring down, I mean to make sure he goes to prison), is that all three are Ewww's accomplices in one way or another. If Ewww goes down, then all of them SHOULD go down right after him. I emphasize "should" because, the way these writer's are throwing crap around, anything is possible...they could even make Dario a deep-in-s**t undercover cop if they so choose to! UGHHH!

Hey....look out the window at the great big, full moon.

I just hope Fernanda is writing down (or, fine, typing into a computer and saving on a flash drive) everything she knows and putting it in a safe place. Just in case she goes the way of Sonia who may never be heard from again until she gives birth and (I assume) dies/gets murdered. Whatever happened to Sonia's mom? Maybe if Fer gets herself out of this, she can adopt Sonia's mom since Sonia can't possibly survive this thing and Fer is in need of a babysitter. But most important, if Fer really knows everything she needs to make sure it gets into someone else's hands, preferably Renata's, as a backup.

Kelly

I don't think fab is all that good. He'd rather keep elisa in prison than to see her with leo. I think that's abit of daddy ewww showing. I dont like anybody keeping the love birds apart. And fab is being
Mean and vindictive. Hes got this "If I can't have you leo wont either". Thats where he is right now, unless he thinks he is keeping her out of harms way. I dont know yall its a toss up. Does any of these people know what the hell they're doing?

SusyQ that moon is beautiful. Wish
I could have seen it come up over the ocean. I'm about 6 blocks from there. It's even more beautiful with the clouds around it. This time last week we getting ready for
20s degree weather. We'll be 82° friday. Florida weather, go figure.
