Imperio de Mentiras 12/29/20 #64: Chaos, Criminals, And Co-Depency Reign Or I've Got Your Number

[This was done without the benefit of CC and perfect audio.  Please correct what I have incorrectly interpreted.--edit.]

Elisa is remanded back to prison to await her sentence for trafficking artworks and money-laundering.  It will be upwards of 25 years.  Leonardo goes berserk and quite loudly calls into question the judge's...er... lack of insight and moderation in sentencing guidelines.   To make matters worse, Fabricio and Victoria are the first to blame him for Elisa's conviction.  He's won and gotten what he'd always wanted from associating with her! Renata reminds her mother that Leo has been the only one trying to clear her name and begs him to get to the bottom of this injustice so El will eventually go free.

At the same time, Eugenio's lead henchman denies he or his gang had anything to do with Dario's escape.  Ewwy demands his henchmen find out then who did help Dario to break out of the prison van.  He is offering them $1 million US as a reward to whoever hands Dario over to him that by that evening.

Back at the fiscalia, Adriana hints broadly that Leo's beginning to sound like a broken record, always griping that Ewwy needs to be in jail instead of El.  He needs to start concentrating on finding Dario so the two-timing crook can retract the charges against El instead.  Just then Christina comes out of her office and Leo insists on having a bidnez chat immediately.  He takes over his brother's office; he accuses her of getting payoffs to put and/or keep Elisa in prison and him from being able to visit her.  She denies this, of course, so Leo takes it up a notch by threatening her not to mess with Elisa or else.....  He bites his tongue (unfortunately) before actually stating the "or else." (Weak move, dude.)  She (Mother of Mindgames) tells him he's becoming more violent and it was she who gave him back his badge and gun.  It's been up to her to keep him from hurting his career.  She has tried to give him a few clues to resolve El's case also.  Remember her telling him to look around him at the people in the fiscalia?  People close to him are involved.  And, BTW, it couldn't hurt to get a bit more therapy along the way.  He politely, if somewhat oafishly, steps over her intended POS double-entendre here.

Back in the courtroom, Ren overhears the attorney and Sr. Curly-Locks explaining to Vicki that Dario's flight put El in a most unsympathetic light.  She yells at Fab to tell Ewwy he needs to take responsibility for what his son's done.  Ren cannot believe it!  No puede ser! Dario, El Cobra is Tio Ewwy's son????!!!  She tries confirming it with Fabricating Fab who denies Daddy has any other kiddies but himself.   She must be upset and has heard incorrectly, etc.  Just then the housekeeper calls Ren complaining that Majo is out of control and might hurt herself.  Ren tells her to keep her sister locked up. Ren herself then goes non compos mentis cuz her pill bottle's empty.

At the fiscalia again, Jose Luis tells Adri that his kid brother doesn't realize that his career is totally in Chrissie's hands.  In fact, everyone's there depends on staying in that bitch-witch's good graces.  Adri asks if she threatened JL or not.  He avoids an answer and says he's got to attend to Lelie right now, but he'll come over to her place this evening to discuss something with her.  Adri says no.  Bad idea as she's not ready for another one of his shaming and/or guilt trips.  He tells her he's coming over this evening and that's that.

Ren has gone into the district attorney's--the Mexican equivalent's--office to make a rather disjointed statement about her mother, uncle, Dario, and her dad.  See, they're all the ones who are guilty and not her sister.  Vicki races with a world-class save.  She explains to the D.A. that Renutty is upset right now due to being off her schizophrenia meds.  Thus, Ren doesn't have any idea what she's saying right now.  Ren is told the DA has heard and will open an investigation... so she and Vicki may leave his office--and finally leave the busy officer of the court alone!

⦁      Adri learns from Leo that Chrissie hasn't changed where he's concerned--meaning that she essentially wants him in his birthday suit and standing at attention or else.   (I'd say that's cause for a sexual harassment suit, but what do I know?)  Adri says not to feel alone.  She has his back.  (Yeah, I feel really safe knowing that.  Anybody else??)  The first order of business is to find out why he cannot see Elisa, he tells her.

At the hospital, Leslie has another treatment.  The doctor has no specific answer about her chances for JL.  FF>>FF>>

At the prison, Fab is trying to earn points with El again.  When he leaves the guard complains about how risky it is to let him in to see her.  He mentions he pays her well enough it should be worth the risk.

Adri and Leo arrive just as Fab is leaving.  Fab gets another chance to rub Leo's nose in it, reminding him that Elisa's facing a 25-year sentence and he's trying to save her company from bankruptcy all because of an investigation that Leo started.  So, ol' Leo might as well sit on it and twirl, doncha know.

Back at los Cantu, Vicki gives Ren hell for what she tried to pull at the courthouse.(Hey, her heart was in the right place, at least even if her brains are still scrambled eggs.)  Vicki's determined to call the old psychiatrist back to handle Ren.  As for Majo, she cannot believe that Ren locked Majo in her bedroom just to keep her from drinking.  She heads upstairs to listen to Majo's side of things.

At the gang's garage a bit later, Fab and Dario face the fact that they both inherited the worst qualities of their father: destroying what they love most. And Fab loves El as much as Dario loves Majo.  Dario supposedly says if Ewwy goes to jail then that is the end of their bidnez (I think).  So, Dario's got no intention of getting El out of jail just yet.  (If this is wrong let me know.)

El, with so much free time on her hands, thinks back to the most romantic times spent with Leo.  Adri comes for a visit but El won't explain in real terms why she doesn't allow Leo to visit.  El says only it really is a bad match; they only got together because it was a bad time for both of them having just lost somebody dear to them.  Adri says if it has anything to do with Christina, then not to pay attention to her; she's got a power/control obsession and has always been a pain in the backside for Leo.  He's totally devastated by this whole situation and really needs El with him.

When Adri comes out of the lockups, she tells Leo she did all she could to convince Elisa to speak to him, but she simply doesn't want to.

Vicki chats with Majo and says she's seriously thinking of committing Ren again since without Elisa she cannot be controlled. And, as for Elisa, she's not getting out and will probably be in jail for the next 25 years.  "--So you see now?  The man you say is in love with you has ruined our lives.  You're turning into an alcoholic. Your sister is in prison.  How do I control Renata, help you, and get Elisa out of prison?"

And speaking of troublesome kids, Fernanda's got her hands full with Juanito.  All he wants to do is lie around in bed till his father shows up.  Suddenly then he's animated.  Fab tells Fern to go order pizza and then slips out the door with him.

Meanwhile, Dario (the real schizo in this pile o' poo) calls Majo to meet him again so he can see her a final time before he turns himself in;  she must give him the courage to do that.  She weeps continually.  However, she does meet with him and won't anytime soon.

Vicki returns to Ewwy's manse to complain that her family life is a total train wreck, past, present and future; she's got to move back in to take charge of things again.  Ewwy shows his utter frustration (as he doesn't take mouthy women well) and tells her that's ridiculous; the girls are both adults and should learn to face life and handle responsibility as such.  She defends her decision against clinging to somebody who doesn't know how to fulfill his promises. (And the point is...snicker, snicker.)  Ewwy insists he did all in his power to get Elisa released.   "--Until you have handed over your son so that Elisa gets released, I don't want to see you again.  And, there's something else to tell you: tomorrow morning I am taking over control of Grupo Cantu. (Oh, noes!  Say it ain't so, Victoria!)  Ewwy plays the hurt puppy dog card.  Why is she insisting on treating him like the enemy?  She says well, she's finally realized the real reason he wants to marry her.  "--It's for the company, right?  Or what other motive would you have to be with me?"

Dario stops in to speak with his mother.  She is totally disgusted with him.  "--You lied to both Majo and me."  He tells her he means to help Elisa but there are still things he has to accomplish first.  Said like the slippery fish bait he is.  Piedad doesn't want to hear it.  "--I swear it--"  "--No!  Don't swear anything!  Just do it.  Otherwise, if you cannot change your life around, I'd rather see you dead."  Just then the doorbell rings.  "--That's Majo."  He races out to the front gate to meet her, full of passionate kisses.

Piedad sees Dario's packed duffle bag on the floor.  She retrieves the card Leo left her and begins dialing her cell.

At the same time across town, JL arrives at Adriana's.  He's nervous and says it will be brief.  She says she wasn't expecting roses and romance from him this time so spit it out already.  "--I want you to resign.  I do need you to do this to save myself."  "--What are you saying? How could you want me to resign?"  "--I promise to find you another job as good as this one at another fiscalia.  But I cannot say anything more.  Don't ask."  Adri realizes it's got to be Chrissie behind this demand.  "--What's she threatened you with?  What's she got on you?  Tell me."   Male chauvinist that he is, JL tells her that he put her there and he can get rid of her just as easily.  She tells him no way, Jose!  "--I earned that promotion!  I am not resigning!" (10 pts. to Team Adri!  You go, girl!!)  He tells her to either resign or get fired and then leaves.  Once he's gone Chrissie comes out of the other room where she was purposely listening.  "--I told you he'd ask you to resign.  We're so close to catching him."  "--You want to tell me what you're accusing him of?"  "--Sure, sure.  First I want you to agree to help us catch him."  "--He's your collar, not mine."  "--Oh, but when you find out what he's done you'll want to consider him your collar also, believe me."

Back at Fern's, Fab is giving his ex hell for having slept around and then blaming everything nasty that she's done as somebody else's fault.  Also, he reminds her that she is treating the kid like an object when what he really needs is to be shown true affection.  All she wants, in the end, is money, right?  "The kid is useless as a means of extortion.  So how much will it cost for her to simply disappear from our lives --Juanito included?"  She tells him to get out and stay out.

Back at Adri's, Chrissie explains that since Tapia's death so many strange things have been occurring that are not able to be explained away.  And, JL's answer is that he just doesn't know, doesn't have a clue or an explanation.  Adri tells her she cannot just go pointing fingers at everyone and branding them as corrupt just because.  Besides, Chrissie doesn't have that kind of power.  "--Oh, yes, but I do!  I just want you to be aware of the kind of man you love."  Adri needs to realize as well, she adds, that her promotion was to keep her at JL's side, as a 'close contact'.  She was just to be an easy alibi.  Adri insists she got the promotion due to her own hard work.  Chrissie in the end tells her to open her eyes and investigate what she's telling her; then she'll realize she was right.

Back at Piedad's, Majo and Dario have finished doing something together upstairs (more packing...of one sort or another?)  She's got to leave, but he begs her to stay a bit longer and they start locking lips.  Suddenly out of nowhere, Leo appears with a gun aimed at Dario's brainstem.  "--Don't move!"  But of course Dario does move and grabs for Leo's gun. (Ok. Leo apparently stinks at Chess so is piss poor at long-term strategy.)  The two fight for control of the pistol till suddenly it goes off.  It remains a question as to who took it in the gut.....

Jardinera: OMG Leo really isn't that good in long-term strategies.

I hope Elisa isn't in prison for 25+ years.

Woo Hoo Jardinera, fun fun. Thanks.

OK so everyone can exhale, ole Dar was gut shot once before and was back shagging MoJo in a couple days, so take it easy.

I THINK Evil Chris was brought in to undo JLouse. Or at least to shake up the stagnant circle the show is in. It is obvio by now that she suspects or already knows JL is the dirty one, IE: 'Since Tapia's death..." etc. I do not see her as hateful and crazy as I did initially, in that maybe there is a method to her madness. Maybe we do not know the full story on nutless Leo yet. The way he wiggs out over a chick he hardly knows and just met, really, is mind-numbing. Man up little fellow.

And as we have become more and more disgruntled / disinterested in this story they dribble out ...drop...drop...drop just big enough tidbits to keep us addicted. Adri is almost seeing the true JL. Vic almost sees the true Ewww. Pie tells it like it is to her son. Fab does the same to FerNasty.

I have to say, Fab is a more loving parent than Fer ever was/is. He finally has her number for sure.

Thanks, guys, but I just wasn’t feeling it this epi. Maybe cuz my chest cold blocked the creativity brain cells. At least it is mostly understandable .😷🤧

I thought there was a prior relationship according to what Christie told El and what Leo comments to Adriana. I could be wrong.

Kirby: Let's hope Adriana doesn't lose her job.

You'd never know you were not 100 percent from reading the 'cap, it was great.

That last convo between Cris and Adri where she had Cris hiding while JLouse visited made me think maybe Cris is more than just a psycho ex girlfriend of Leo. Cris does seem to be playing everyone against everyone, but I smell a rat. In reality, a cop on a case involving someone he is openly dating would send even the most sane 'Internal Affairs' into orbit, or more likely get said cop fired or at the least transferred to Siberia.

Piedad is about the closest we have to a trusty loveable dog in this isn't she?

Steve. Well she needs to find another precinct to work in. The ever popular 'Banging Boss' is still a no no even in 2020.

Jardinera, smart and sassy. I'm sorry you aren't feeling well but you captured everything perfectly nevertheless.

The most frustrating and saddest moment for me was "Vicki races with a world-class save". To see Renata, whom I've always touted as the savior here, ranting and stumbling over her words in an incoherent, babbling fashion was almost unbearable. And here I thought Ewwww was the only omnipresent scum here.

The most startling was Piedad's "Just do it. Otherwise, if you cannot change your life around, I'd rather see you dead." Really?? Surely this was an overstatement germinated by fear and frustration that her son is now irredeemable.

So Chris is going to be the one to bring JLouse down? How disappointing.

"...ole Dar was gut shot once before and was back shagging MoJo in a couple days, so take it easy". I'm smiling Kirby as that is an excellent point and I'm sure you are spot on.

Will Icky actually unseat Ewww? Will the seat of power change from hellishly hot to icy cold? As evil and imperious as Icky is, she s no match for Eugenio. Finally, trouble in paradise is quickly spilling, like lava down a volcano.

Oh and I guess I should mention Elisa languishing in jail. She seems to be in a better place than most so perhaps she should stay put.

Jardinera, always a pleasure. Thank you!

Diana

Thank you, Jardinera, sick or not, your recap was very entertaining.

Seeing Cris come out of hiding at Adriana's place made me hope that there is some method to all this maddness. But if they make Leo twisted, too, then what was the point of watching ?

Adriana Noel, you pose an interesting question.

I have always felt there was going to be some sort of twisted ending involving Leo. But I change my mind every day as to what it might be. Is his rage a quiet one that when pushed erupts like a volcano?

I can't recall a galan ever being so distracted, so seemingly besotted by a woman as to cloud his actions and judgement to the point he is ineffective.

Diana

Jardinera,I hope you feel better soon . I thank you for providing us with a great recap despite being under the weather .

Well, I still have no idea where these characters are going . The traditional good vs evil is not here . ..just bad people going about their evil ways with those around them lost and confused. Who are we supposed to cheer for ?

Another wrestling match with a gun between the good? (Leo) and the bad(?) ContrarioDario. Deja vue all over again .

Little Miss Muffet sitting alone in her cell.

CrazyCrissy who suddenly dropped out of the sky into this story acting like a boss manipulating everyone and acting like she is the puppet master of all these folks .

Everybody wants to rule the world.

Oh, I forgot to mention, Jardinera - you make an excellent point about Cristina accusing people of being dirty, menacing with suspension and whatnot, all the while she's sexually harassing a cop. Glass houses...

.....or where was moma piedad when
That gun went off?

Lovely action packed episode, and
A bit funny with the snark. Good
Recap Jardinera.

I wish ren could get agood hold of herself and dont have those brain
Freezes. She was loosing it when she couldnt find her pill she may or may not have dropped. And then
Vick comes in to take control. Hate
To see her controlling ren, she'd just pump her full of knockout dope
And lock her away. I see to much potential for smartness there If she can stay away from icky and
that wacky psych doctor who loves popping pills at Vicky's request, she can probly have a some What normal life. We can only hope.

That's interesting what crazy chris
Said to adri about jl. Its kinda true, but you better know that nuty
Wench got an agenda for herself in
This. Yet she has a point, she will be surprised what he's done and is
Still doing. Shes got imfo that leo
Could use in his quest. But hes got
Tk find out that his brother is a first class crook. With a fat bank account.

Yeah ewwy wants the cantu bidnez. Cuz bbn ue wants everything augy had. I think he was really really
Jealous of augy. He might be about to change his mind about August woman. I dont know why he thought he was getting a prize in that lady anyway. She was a pain in the ass to augy, always wanting the best of everything. Ren knew it, she heard all kinds of arguments growing up in that hell house of repute. If icky vicky hadn't doped her up she
Probly would have nk lost it with M out the help of doc pill popper.

Ok that's it for now. Thank you Jardinera. One more day and 20 is
Outta here. Then what? God help us.

Excellent, Jardinera. I am hoping it is the end of Darío. Love how Victoria is calling the shots with Eugenio who has looked surprised more than once.

I can't believe that we are again waiting to find out who got shot in a scuffle between Leo and HowDariyouo? Really? Couldn't the writers think up another cliffhanger ? Again with Dario getting shot? I am put in mind of La Buoff in Pasion who just kept losing body parts. Dario has become the writers ' punching bag . Why can't they wound somebody else ? Let me help with some posdibilities...Ew, Ick, JL, Crissy, Fern , Fab... I don't think Dario will survive , but I don't know when the writers will land the final blow to end his tragic life. I think Piedad sealed his fate with her announcing that if he doesn 't reform she would rather see him dead. YIkes. Tough love IN The extreme ..his own loving, longsuffering mother said that .

There was discussion as to whether Dario should get to live or die. I vote die, even if it's not just yet. (He still needs to free Elisa since no one else is capable of doing this). But he's still manipulating Majo and it's just all about him and what he wants. Apologies to Piedad but her son is a jerk.

And kill off Fabricio while we're at it. I was done with him when he shushed Fer and waved her out of the room of HER house. He's not parenting better. He's buying pizza and ice cream to a kid that he didn't know about because of his crime boss father and HE KNOWS THIS and still blames Fernanda for everything. Plus, it makes me mad when the woman is called slutty when the man sleeps WITH THE SLUT while trying to take the business from another woman that's he's suddenly in love with even though she told him no. All the men in this show suck. Leo gets to live, and maybe Mario is he makes himself useful. The rest go.

And the women should change their locks while we wait. No reason Fab shoudl get to go into Fer's home whenever he feels like it and definitely JL shouldn't be allowed in Adriana's. Especially now. Maybe change the locks on the mansion too. It may still belong to Victoria but she's not doing any good there. Is Mario handy? Maybe changing locks could be how he earns his way out of this show alive.

Kelly

Kelly...I agree that the men in this show can all go. Leo is ineffective , but he can stay . At least he is trying to help and do the right thing ...he just hasn't been very successful. Leo is so lovesick for Eliesa that he just hasn't noticed what a monster his big brother has become . Changing the locks is an excellent idea. It will e very interesting to see how'd the writers end this story . Do people still want happy endings for the good folks an anvils for the bad ones ?I do.

Pretty generous there Kelly : "Is Mario handy? Maybe changing locks could be how he earns his way out of this show alive." <:-)

Do people still want happy endings for the good folks an anvils for the bad ones ?

NO! Everyone just gets a participation trophy.

I remember the first time I saw a show where the good guy died helpin the Idiots, fools and jackassses out of their troubles. Every since then it appears the good guys have been getting the short end of the stick. And that was over 40 years ago. But you may have a point master kirby:-)

Jardinera sorry to hear you're under the weather🤒,and you've still managed to crank out an amazingly good recap. Girl take care yourself. Yall be careful😷the new strain has hit the shores out west.
