i.e., “Pájaro”)

What a bang-up debut! I think I filled half my bingo card already: AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT, GUN FIRED, QUE HACES AQUI, GRATUITOUS SHIRTLESSNESS, TE AMO TANTO, DERAILED WEDDING, FISTFIGHT, and NO ME TOQUES, pretty much in that order.
You're right, Blue Lass--all the familiar tropes are here. I really enjoyed this and I'm IN LOVE with the Hacienda. The aerial shots were wonderful, showing all the details. I really like the Spanish style homes with the central courtyard. Planning to keep watching this one.
That felt like a very traditional Televisa production and after all the grim ones recently it was a breath of fresh air.
Victor Gonzales was the leading man of La Candidata four years ago and it feels like he will be the villain of this one.
Michelle Renaud and Danilo Carrera were both in Pasion y Poder.
Enough familiar faces, so this looks good.
Short Recap:
1.) Psycho Barbara's inner thoughts: she's calling Franco stupid & dumb & other derogatory comments.
2.) Franco gets up from the table after a business lunch & thanks Psycho Barbara for the so-called meeting. In reality, Psycho Barbara was really pumping Franco for info.
3.) Over at Casa Santoro, Jackass #2 Camilo & Jacinto break into Franco's house & rampage the office for documents when Jackass #2 Camilo finds the white piece of paper which he smirks & then insults Jacinto before leaving.
4.) During this time, Gardenia nags & nags by banging the door.
5.) Over in Purification, Dominga gets very rough with her abuse of Aurora once again. OMG: can somebody please save our damsel Aurora in distress ?
6.) Santiago's inner thoughts including the inner thoughts of Aurora.
7.) Over at Elizalde HQ: Jackass #1 Annibal & Jackass #2 Camilo still plotting against Franco. These Buji assholes have no idea whom they're trying to mess with....
8.) Psycho Barbara & Daddy Elizalde get into a very intriguing makeout session at his office.
9.) Later that night, Dumb Fernanda researching Stockholm, Sweden's mental institution clinics just as the STUPID Elizalde's plan to send Liliana over to Germany.
10.) Psycho Barbara shows up into Dumb Fernanda's room & spews more lies with "sympathetic" words of comfort, when they hug, Psycho Barbara's body language tells us she's NOT done destroying people's lives yet.
11.) Over at Casa Santoro, Gardenia must've cleaned up Franco's office because I don't think he had any clue Jackass #2 Camilo barged in & took some incriminating documents.
12.) The EVIL Doctor & Psycho Barbara plotting more chaos & upping the ante against Liliana. Big question is whether Martina or someone else will overhear those plans & alert Franco ?
The hacienda is the same from Amor Bravio, they're only using different angles. I agree it has all the funny clichés we love to mock.
Vaya! I didn't know this one had started already. I've set it to record and will see if ON DEMAND has the first two episodes available.
Second epi just as good as the first, and they sure are keeping things moving -- I need catcher's mitts on both hands to catch all the flying cliches. WE HAVE A WINNER.
I am halfway through episode #1 and ... am hooked. Now to find my chair on the Patio.
Blue Lass nailed it: shirtless scene, gunshot fired (although I was more upset about that poor horse than Leo-the-jerk unconscious after the wreck. That poor hooooorrrrrse! Oh noes!!! (He looked like Capricio in FELS)
Other random questions:
- Why didn't the airbags deploy when Leo's car hit the horse?
- Why was Val wandering around the barn, during a thunderstorm, without an umbrella and not a drop of rain on her?
- Where is my telenovela beanie hat?
- Why does Mateo with all that hair and muscles remind me of Big Ed Yañez? #nextgen
- Where is my telenovela beanie hat?
I recognize "Sabina" from "Ciegas". Ooooh, watch out, she's a bad one.
Alexis Ayala is also bringing it as the (probably corrupt) mayor.
I pretty much never care about the main couple, so that's nothing new. But it seems as if there will be a multitude of side-stories. (Who was that lady practically licking the confessional screen? She seems likely to stir up...something.)
I watched both episodes 1 & 2 today on demand and am now caught up. Maybe today's pre-empted episode will be available on demand tomorrow.
Uy, Sabina. She's probably no worse than the rest of that family.
Leo is on my **** list. What a jerk (my polite word). How can Val still be engaged to him after his true colors she has seen in these first two capitulos? #realitycheck
Val recovered from her turned ankle (thanks, broken stiletto heel) rather quickly. In one scene, she finally remembered to limp.
Wasn't Alexis Ayala's used car salesman shirt just excellent?! Probs borrowed from the Hijas wardrobe dept.
Confessional lady was creepy, stroking the wood on that box. Could she have a thing for the good padre?
Is Sabina's daughter Patricio's? It seems not, since she is not mentioned in the will, but I couldn't figure that one out. (see comment about money Esmeralda has below)
All the vultures circling the carcass over that will was a hoot. Mucho drama and intrigue there.
Holy moly, that's a pile of moolah that Esmeralda was entrusted with, which makes me think the little girl is Patricio's. Wasn't that for her? I'm so confused.
And we have the classic telenovela trope of Mat not knowing he and Leo are bros, Esme was told her baby died because, duh. Minerva might have a clue and if not, she will have a hissy fit.
We've had two Val shower scenes and one Mat shirtless scene. It's time for Televisa to catch up on the beefcake views.
Where is Andy Banda? We need him watching this one and his fun commentary.
I'll be doing a short recap on today's episode (unless Univision interrupts it) sometime today.
I'm enjoying this one, too. I wonder how many flashbacks we will get of Don Patricio. BTW, I first saw Manuel Ojeda in the 1993 Corazon Salvaje where he was in the early episodes. He was quite attractive in late 19th-C gentlemen's wear and his character was a good guy.
See this photo of Eugenia Cauduro from 2000 where she was the princess of the first Cinderfella story I saw. Manuel Ojeda was also in that one.
On to the current one:
Lionel is a total AH for what he is up to. I have a gut feeling that he is Angelita's sperm donor, based on a silhouetted flashback of him and Sabina.
Sabina doesn't look like even an ex-model to me. The overblown lips look very declasse, as does her wardrobe so far.
The doctor probably knows all the secrets we're currently speculating on.
