Recap will be up late tomorrow morning.
Café Con Aroma de Mujer:
Thank you Miky for the heads up on the Gran Estreno! I hope we have a lot of folks watching and commenting.
Part 1
We start with a kinder, gentler Rox, telling Rafa that she knows he loves Loli and he has her approval get Loli back. Rafa says he never has Loli’s approval for anything and the he is happy with his girlfriend. Rox presses that he might like Karen, but it is obvious he loves Loli. Write it down in your little black book Rox say, so you don’t forget.
Meanwhile, Karen is listening through non-sound blocking office window glass and looks like she is about to hyperventilate.
Octavio is waiting for Sam outside of her school when the Protesting Pastor (PP for short, who is indeed Joaquin’s dad) walks by. Octavio immediately thinks he is following him and they start to argue about the incident with the Pastors wife passing out at Hunky Bar. Kino walks up and overhears that his mom passed out at the bar and wants to know what happened? How is his mom? Sam is right behind Kino asking Octavio, “Kino’s mom passed out at your bar Octavio?” In true caballero fashion, Octavio says that the mom was waking by, outside the bar and fainted, he just helped her.
“Thank you” all around, with PP taking Kino with him. Sam declares that she can’t stand Kino’s dad because he is super strict. Octavio says, his mom, not so much. 😊
At the doctor’s office with the worlds silliest couple for a baby ultrasound, we discover that not only is Mel carrying one baby, but she is going to have triplets! Apparently, triplets run in her family, as a cousin also has triplets. Of course, the first thought is we couldn’t afford one baby, but now three? Carol is not at all happy, calls her mom old and says they cannot have another cent of the reward money. Bruno stays up all night trying to concoct ridiculous schemes to make money including a baby naming raffle. Mel says it is time for Norita to give them the house in Mexico. (Whew, okay I piled in all the most perinate stuff of the storyline here).
Octavio and Sam spring Gabriel out for a game of basketball with a group of like aged teens. Sam shows off her basketball skills until unfortunately she becomes short of breath and has to sit the rest of the game out. (I was very concerned with the scene, I hope Mariana’s heart issue were not congenital and passed on to Sam).
A determined Paulina meets with Rafa at his apartment and tells him that Karen is playing both sides working for Global Radio but also helping Chente with the demise of the company. Pau lets him know that Chente and Karen are in constant contact and Karen is planning on working for Chente at the new station he is launching. Plus, Karen was the one who helped bring in Salvador to cause chaos and collapse the company and ensuring an internal ally for Chente. Rafa is skeptical and Paulina says she just wants to help not hurt him. (For a change, I actually am starting to believe her).
Part 2
Rox answers her apartment door to Cesar only to slam the door in his face when he announces that he is officially divorced and ready to move in with her!
Mati and Art are having a nice dinner when they hear a loud knock on the door and the police demanding to be allowed in. Poor Dona Selma is having an episode, called the police claiming she was being held against her will by these “young men.” The next morning Jack tells them both at breakfast that the episode was serious and could get worse, Art needs to speak with her doctor. Mati and Art decide that Selma is most important and they will have to drop the plan to foster Gabriel and Christe.
Octavio and Apolo are in the apartment looking for more Hunky Bar calendars to hand out and arguing like an old married couple. Nosy Nellie Apolo starts going through the mail and discovers a postcard from Octavio’s parents, Antonio and Ramona. Apparently, they now live in California (Rosita?) and own a bed and breakfast. The post card only has their names “From Antonio and Ramona” and nothing else.
Apolo immediately starts in on Octavio telling him to find out why his parents are looking for him now after so many years and what did happen with your parents anyway? In an Octavio hissy fit (that we have all grown accustomed to) he claims he wants NOTHING to do with his parents because the abandoned him at the age of 10! For good measure he rips up the post card in front of Apolo’s face.
Rafa and Karen are going to spend the evening together with a picnic basket of wine. She asks if everything is ok? He says yes. As she walks away to a get the cork screw, Rafa sees her cell phone screen light up with a call from Vicente. Rafa comments that he hates lies and has something awful to tell her but it can wait until later. (This call definitely lends credence to Paulina’s earlier discussion with Rafa).
Loli comes home from a long day of festival planning (because her little helper Salvador is worthless) and finds Domingo and Nicky watching a soccer game. Domingo asks Nicky to leave them alone to talk. Without much preface, Domingo tells Loli that he is not her dad. Loli is speechless and goes upstairs without a word.
Loli cries and talks to Mariana’s photo saying how ironic it is that here she is try help Nicky and Sam find their respective dad’s and now she is in the same situation. Domingo knocks on the bedroom door to talk to Loli, but she does not respond.
The next morning, Loli leaves for work very early as Domingo laments to Norita that he never should have told Loli the truth. Norita disagrees and thinks that Loli will come around and forgive him.
Loli is furiously working on the festival information and presentation while Salvador watches her work. She asks for the list of guests, his only project, he doesn’t have it ready. Loli yells and sends him out to work on it while yelling at Rafa, who graces her door, that she will be ready for the meeting!
Part 3
It is dance rehearsal a Hunky Bar (YES!). Apolo asks Octavio if he has thought more about “it?” Octavio has yet another melt down saying he is not going to seek out his parents. Apolo says, I was asking about modeling for the new calendar and you getting back on the stage to dance again like the other night! Octavio says “no” to both, but then that he will think about it as Apolo reminds him what a great attraction Octavio is for the clients and money maker for the bar.
In walks the PP who wants to “talk.” With the Hunk Bar dance line as witnesses, PP first thanks Octavio for not saying anything to Joaquin about his mom fainting inside the bar. PP says he didn’t know Octavio was Sam’s dad (Juanita and I are still thinking he is) but Octavio says he doesn’t have kids and is just friends with Sam’s madrina, he didn’t think that Kino needed to hear the whole story.
Octavio goes on to say that it isn’t Kino’s fault that he has a troglodyte for a dad for not allowing him to participate in the drama club. PP can’t keep it civil and says, I am sure you would love to see my son dancing in this kind of a degenerate club. Insults are tossed back and forth (I had a hard time understanding the dialogue) and Octavio tells PP to leave, PP threatens Octavio once again with making sure Hunky Bar gets shut down.
Norita is visiting Loli at Chisme HQ and runs into Don Rogelio who tells her that he does want to tell Loli they are dating. Lupe (dang I was hoping to get through the episode without her!) saunters over and lets Don R know that they are waiting for him in the conference room. Norita says she will see him later at the house for coffee and sweet rolls, none of the looks or flirting get past this chimosa! Don R, give her a stern “Lupe” and she locks her lips with her fingers (like that will work).
Bruno interrupts the afternoon coffee and sweet rolls to give Norita the news that Mel is having triplets. While Bruno makes her a tea to relax, Norita shares the sob story that is her son with Don R. He of course wants to help by offering Bruno a job and even though Nora says not too, he does. Bruno says Don R is worth his weight in gold.
Octavio is at Global talking to Mati and Art only to find out they cannot foster Gabe and Christi. He is upset but understands.
Gabe is waiting for Sam after school with a bouquet of flowers. (It sounded like he escaped for a few hours). He takes her to Octavio’s apartment as she protests that he should not have left. But Gabe misses Sam and just want to see had kiss her.
Paulina is attempting her podcast but cannot get the words just right with Chente the stalker sitting right there. He gets a call from one of his ex-wives asking for more money to pay a counselor because of the damage he did by cheating on her. In true jerk form he says no to more money and comments on how he isn’t going to cheat on Paulina like he did on her. Paulina is listening to the conversation. (One more nail in Chente’s coffin).
Karen gets a call from Chente who is mad that she didn’t answer the night before. He needs her help and warns her to be ready to jump ship fast! He needs her and she agrees to meet him later that day.
Apparently, the festival presentation did not go well. Loli is upset, Salvador is trying to figure out what is really going on. Loli says she doesn’t know who she is, her life is all a lie and a mess, she used the wrong presentation, nothing is going right!
Sal moves to hug her, only to be busted by both Octavio and Rafa tripping on each other in the doorway of Loli’s office. Let the impromptu meeting of the Ex’s of Loli Club begin!
Thanks SO much, VVS, for a fantastic recap. Your sarcasm was in top form and echoed my own thoughts.
Egad...triplets! Is no one ever going to call Carol on her verging on sociopathic behavior? I suppose it's meant to be part of the "comedy" but, as a mother, I am always appalled by her total lack of concern for anyone else.
The post card was from Rosarito, which is a beach resort in Mexico.
I'm also worried about Sam and the possibility that these writers will go to their usual place and have her in the hospital. And with Loli outside in the corridor and a doctor saying Es grave, muy grave. Of course grave usually means the person will participate in a foot race one or two episodes later.
I'm glad Rafa saw that "Vicente" on Karen's phone.
I think you got an interesting episode, VVS, and I wish I had more time to comment. But I have an appointment I need to leave for.
I don't want Sam to be muy grave. I did think it might be an opportunity for Octavio to give blood or an organ and we find out he is Sam's dad!
I think Pau and Rafa are finally on to their current love interests shenanigan's!
Appreciate your comments and help with that Octavio/Apolo conversation.
Thanks VERY much, VVS, for this excellent recap. Once again, I found the recap much better than the episode.
Oy, Triplets! These two misfits couldn't even manage to raise one decent child, and now they're confronted with the possibility of three more? I was hoping for a miscarriage from the moment Mel learned she was pregnant. Now, I'm hoping three times as strongly. Mel and Bruno have neither the mental nor the financial resources to deal with triplets. And perhaps not the physical strength, either.
Rox is such a confusing (and confused) character. One minute she can give compassionate and sensible advice, and the next moment she's an emotional train wreck. I hope she can pull herself together in time to save the relationship with Cesar.
I was surprised and disappointed when Domingo said to Loli that he's not her father. I think he could and should have said that he isn't her biological father. I think that sounds both more accurate and less extreme. Whether or not he provided the sperm, he raised her for some time and was the only father she knew. That makes him her father, IMHO, even though he's not her bio dad.
Like you, I'm worried about Sam, and the possibility that Mariana's heart condition is an inheritable trait. Arrgh, not all that long ago I watched months of a novela featuring an adorable 9-year-old girl with a supposedly incurable illness (Oyku in Todo por mi hija). I'm not ready for more of this.
Make that a double YES!! for the dance rehearsal at Hunky Bar! I sometimes wonder whether I would continue to watch La Suerte de Loli if it didn't include Octavio and the Hunky Bar crew.
Hi again. I didn't read your comment to novelera before I posted mine, but I really like your idea of Sam possibly needing a blood transfusion (hopefully not an organ) and that Octavio turns out to be the one who can provide it. Because....
Also, in my earlier posting, I had meant to say that I loved the way you ended your recap, but I was pressed for time and forgot. Since I'll be recapping tonight, perhaps the episode will begin with "the impromptu meeting of the Ex's of Loli Club."
Thanks so much VVS. Loved your recap, well done. Not much to add to the great comments.
I’ll bet Sam will be ok. Whatever her illness or condition is, it will lead us to her father, who we hope will be Octavio.
Speaking of Octavio, if his parents enter the story, that means we will get more story for him.
And since Mati and Art can’t take the kids, there’s still a chance that Octavio will end up with them.
Yeah, looks like Pau is on her way to redemption.
Triplets… my heart sank. It means triple the absurdity.
dondi356
Thank you Juanita for the double comments! I agree that Rox is a tough character to consistently like and cheer for. She is kind to Mati so I keep trying to really like her.
In my book, Octavio has to be Sam's dad! I like those Hunky Bar meetings, maybe the next Ex's of Loli Club session can be held there once more! Looking forward to your recap tonight!
Thanks, Miky, for the info on Café Con Aroma de Mujer. I’m very disappointed it’s at 10p.
I really want to watch this but I’m committed to watching and recapping Embajador at 10 on Uni.
I’ll watch Café, but I will always be at least a day behind.

Loli is an emotional wreck after Domingo's revelation. Salvador is comforting her, which of course is the signal for Rafa and Octavio to appear. Oops. Rafa quickly tells her that the meeting was a success, and he hurries out. Octavio says he'd wanted to talk with her about Nicky, but they can do that later. He too leaves. Sal convinces her to come with him. [No, Loli, NO!]
Cesar is speaking with the employees of the restaurant that he's giving to Dulce. He tells them to be happy, not sad. He claims that he's happy because he knows that they'll do a good job. Suddenly, Rox appears. The employees leave Cesar and Rox to be alone. Cesar has a stern, stubborn look on his face. Rox tells him that she's here for some of the cheesecake she had a few days ago. She knows that the restaurant is changing hands, and she's afraid the new owner may change the recipe. Cesar yells for Pachuco to bring one order of cheesecake. Only one? asks Rox? She wants Cesar to eat it with her. Cesar orders a second cheesecake.
Rafa drives near Vicente's place and sees Karen enter. He calls her on the phone and tells her he was just thinking of her and wondering how she is. And how's your friend Bere doing? Karen tells him Bere is fine, and she's with Bere right now. Bere sends her regards. Rafa sends his, and then suggests he could come by and say hi in person. Karen gets a terrified look on her face.
Bruno arrives home wearing a really ridiculous suit. Black with white horizontal and vertical lines running through it. It looks like a gangster suit, but I think even a gangster would find it embarrassing. Mel criticizes him for spending money on it. Bruno claims that the suit is not an expense, it's an investment. He has a meeting tomorrow. With the Chinese mafia? Mel asks. Bruno announces triumphantly that it's with Don Rogelio. Before she can stop herself, Mel asks what someone like Don Rogelio would want with someone like..... Like me? Bruno asks. He explains that he and Don R are now colleagues. He proclaims, "I'll show you who Bruno Tadeo Torres Tovar really is!"
Gabe and Sam are kissing passionately and headed for more when suddenly Sam gets dizzy and collapses.
Loli apparently goes back to Salvador's place. She recognizes something from the past. Sal is pleased she remembers it, they got it in Nepal. He sees that something is troubling Loli. She breaks down and tells him "My father isn't my father." Sal says he's sorry, and they kiss.
Vicente asks Karen whether she's sure Rafa doesn't suspect anything. She's sure, especially since there's no reason for suspicion. Vicente asks, "What do you say we give him a reason?"
Gabriel calls Octavio about Sam. Octavio tells him to call an ambulance.
Loli pushes Sal away, saying she shouldn't be there. And then, with her usual firm resolve, she says, "OK, just for a bit." Fortunately, at that very moment, her phone rings. It's Octavio, telling her about Sam and that they're taking her to the hospital.
Cesar admits to Rox that he's going to miss the restaurant. He compares it to losing a lover. You have to lose the old lover to get a new one. This makes Rox nervous again. "Cesar, are you sure about this?" she asks. She tells him she has defects. She can be grouchy. She lists some other defects. Cesar tells her, "We love someone in spite of their defects." This seems to calm her down. She asks whether he's going to finish his cheesecake, and when he says no, she takes it and starts eating.
Rafa decides to confront Vicente and Karen. He comes to the door, and says he was just in the neighborhood. "How's Bere?" he asks Karen. "Are she and her novio better?" Rafa then turns to Vicente. "First Paulina, now Karen." Karen tells him there's nothing going on between Vicente and her. Rafa asks Vicente, "Are you sleeping with her? Or is she for your 'new project'?" Rafa leaves. Karen is upset. She tells Vicente, "I did all this for love. But what do you know about that? Rafa is right."
Loli arrives at the hospital. She has about a minute with Sam before they come to take her away. No one tells her anything about what they're going to do. [This scene is immediately followed by a cheery one with Nicky and Sam in the kitchen. It's an ad for Royal Prestige cookware!]
Gradually, just about everyone turns up at the hospital. Sam is in surgery. They're trying to figure out what's wrong. It seems to be something involving her heart. Nora is distraught. "I lost my daughter, I can't lose my graddaughter, too."
Karen says to Vicente, "He wasn't supposed to know." Vicente assures her that Rafa will understand as soon as he calms down. In disbelief, Karen replies, "He'll understand that I tried to sabotage Global Radio?" She tells Vicente she doesn't want to do this any more. Nice guy Vicente warns her, "Don't make an enemy of me, especially now."
Rafa goes to the hospital. He's told Sam is having heart surgery. Rafa says, "She's young. She'll be OK." Salvador is also there.
Bruno is upset that no one believes in him. Mel points out that everything they try has turned out badly. She says, "If we had a circus, the dwarfs would suddenly have a growth spurt." Echoing an earlier episode, there appears a man in a wheelchair bandaged head to toe. He tells them that the nurse has left him there, but he has to go to the bathroom. Can one of them help him? Melissa, Bruno, and Carol quickly go away, supposedly to find someone to help the guy.
Selma says something to Mati and Art about how she's looking forward to their adopting the kids. Mati tells her they've decided to wait until they have their own house, so the kids can each have a room. Selma tells them that she and her husband didn't have a house, but they really wanted a baby. She advises Mati and Art that if they want to adopt, do it. Everything will work out.
A loudspeaker announcement summons Sam's family to the front desk. They're told that the surgery was successful. However, Sam suffers from congenital cardiopathy. Nora says that's what Mariana had. "Then you know what that means," the nurse says. Loli says, "She'll need a transplant."
Sam has a dream. She's back in her own bed, although she may still be wearing a hospital gown. She catches sight of her mother. She gets up out of bed and goes to her. They hug. Sam starts apologizing, since the last time she saw Mariana she was very rude to her. Mariana tells her that's not important. She asks Sam how she feels. Sam admits that she's scared. Mariana tells her "All will be well. It's not your time yet." Mariana then tells Sam, "Don't scare Loli like that again." Sam asks her who her father is. Mariana tells her to ask Loli, she can help you. Sam wakes up.
Jess is worried about Sam's surgery. Paulina tells her that tomorrow they'll go to the hospital to see her.
Nicky and Domingo are home alone. Domingo is discouraged at how badly he does at video games. Now if it were cards....Nicky tells him he's been told not to play cards. Nicky then asks where Sam, Loli, and Grandma are. Domingo tells him to stop asking questions and don't worry. "Now I'm really worried," replies Nicky. "That's what they said to me when they took my mother to the hospital."
Domingo talks to Loli. He says he realizes it must have been terrible for her to hear what he told her out of the blue. She asks him how he found out. Loli's mother told him before she died. Loli then asks about her bio father. Domingo says he doesn't know who he is, Roccio took the secret to the grave. "How could she deceive us both?" asks Loli. Domingo urges her to focus on the good: "She loved you with all she had." Domingo talks about moving out, and Loli assures him he doesn't have to do so. "It wasn't your fault." Salvador appears, and Domingo threatens that "if you hurt Loli again, I'll break your face."
Karen and Rafa talk. She admits that "What Vicente and I did was dishonest and unprofessional. That's why I've decided to leave Global Radio. And you're still in love with Loli." Rafa tries to deny that. Karen insists. Rafa asks whether she's planning to work with Vicente. "No," she replies, "that's not who I am. I don't know what pushed me to do what I did. I loved you." In leaving, she says to tell Jess if there are any tickets she wants, she should let Karen know. "Also, don't forget, focus on the presidency. And if you love Loli as much as you seem, go after her now, before Salvador gets her back."
Bruno is at Global Radio rehearsing what he'll say to Don Rogelio. Lupe comes to ask him to be quieter, since he prevented her from hearing a choice piece of gossip. Just then, Don Rogelio appears and immediately asks, "What happened to the granddaughter of Nora?" He then calls Nora and tells her that he'll head to the hospital after he's done at Global Radio.
Don Rogelio then meets with Bruno. He asks about Bruno's work experience. Bruno says he's had a lot--it would take him all day to list everything. He mentions working in transportation (his driving the limo) and in the food industry, dealing with avocados and cupcakes. He even includes some of his illegal ventures, though of course he doesn't call them that. At some point, Don Rogelio tells him, "You shouldn't be here. You should be with your mother and your family. Your family needs you." He tells Bruno they can talk about opportunities later. After Don Rogelio leaves, Bruno says, What my family needs is for me to get a job."
Sam is awake. Rafa and Loli are with her. They tell her that Gabriel was at the hospital until just a short time ago. She tells Loli, "I need you to find my father. My mother said you could help me." Rafa says, "We'll do it!" Loli turns and looks at him. Her expression says, "Huh?" On that note, the episode ends.
Great recap Juanita! I appreciated all the dialogue inclusion because I didn’t catch a lot of the details. Your side comments are perfect! “No. Loli NO!” Salvador is just a dog. Poor Loli is crying in his arms with the shock of a lifetime and he goes in for the romantic attack!
I liked the Karen demise. So glad Rafa just busted her and Chente (more slimy than normal in this episode) in person. He didn’t make a scene, just called it like it was. Also glad Karen self-reflected and is leaving completely to start anew. Adios Karen. Now we just need to get rid of Salvador.
Poor Sam, the dream with Mariana was just sad. I hope her heart condition isn’t as serious as they are claiming.
Bruno and the zoot suit? Que the Heck with this guy! Don Rogelio wasn’t even listening to his vast experience in avocado and cupcake marketing!
So I am confused. Domingo does indeed know who Loli’s dad is right? We think it is Don Rogelio, but I vaguely remember a memory scene at a hospital where Roccio confessed to “the other” man that Loli was his daughter and that was when Domingo walked in. Maybe I am just making this up, forgive me. 😊
I think Rafa is smart to weasel his way back with Loli by helping her find Sam’s dad. Lazy Salvador would never do that!
Thank you Juanita! I really enjoyed the recap!
Fantastic recap, Juanita! As VVS said, you got some details that went right past me.
I had an awful thought, and I'm sure you faithful recappers and commenters will forgive me. It was: Carol gets hit by a bus and Sam gets her heart. And that is one low-mileage heart!
Vicente is SO going to end up alone. IIRC Pau overheard him telling his ex that his being unfaithful was no big deal. [OTOH I don't think, other than being abusive, there is any reason for a divorced mother to curtail visitation with the guy's children. That's a very important relationship.] For once in a novela, the eavesdropping served a good purpose.
If Cesar were to start a new restaurant, I'm certain Dulce would be left with few employees and fewer customers. It was cute when Rox said that David told her she snores, and he said he snores like a bear!
I wish they hadn't gone with Sam having a heart condition. I suppose they'll somehow come up with a transplant before the end, but I find this story line distasteful.
Karen managed her final words with Rafa with dignity. He tried to deny he still loves Loli, but it was pretty feeble.
I'm skeptical about Octavio being Sam's father, but I'll get on the bandwagon with the rest of you and hope that's true. Surely the father will be revealed, probably in the next to the last episode.
VVS, I remember the scene with the guy who was Loli's mother's lover in shadow so we could not see him. But I thought Domingo had left the room. I think that, if Domingo knew it was Rogelio, he would have told Loli. However, there was some unexplained hostility when those two encountered each other again. It could be just Rogelio's anger at Domingo for disappearing. But then why was Domingo also hostile?
Thanks very much, VVS and novelera, for your insightful comments.
VVS, I too was happy that Karen is disappearing. At least, I think she is. And novelera, I agree, she departed with dignity.
I too, of course, hope that Sam's condition isn't as serious as it seems. If she does need a heart transplant, I vote for your suggestion, novelera. And I loved your comment, "And that is one low-mileage heart!"
As for what Domingo knows or doesn't know, I too am confused. I think he had already arrived in the room when Roccio told the man in the shadows that he, not Domingo, is Loli's father. What I don't know is whether Domingo could see who that man was. The room was very dark. So it's possible that shadow man (very likely Don R) knows that Domingo is not the bio father, but it's not clear whether Domingo knows who the bio father is. I've tended to think that he doesn't, but as novelera says, that doesn't explain the hostility he seems to have shown toward Don R.
Gotta run. Thanks again to both of you!
Thank you so much, Juanita, for another excellent recap. I appreciate the detail, as my mind wanders from time to time. Comments were great, too.
Why did Loli go with Sal? She begs for trouble.
The Karen-Rafa break up was well done.
I think that Domingo knows Rogelio is Loli’s father. They seem to be setting us up for it.
This made my day, novelera, “I had an awful thought, and I'm sure you faithful recappers and commenters will forgive me. It was: Carol gets hit by a bus and Sam gets her heart. And that is one low-mileage heart!” I’d rather this happen than they kill off a character I like to give Sam a heart.
novelera, it’s not so much that I’m 100% sure that Octavio is Sam’s dad, it’s that I’m 100% hoping that he is.
dondi356
Thanks very much, dondi356, for your supportive comments. I know what you mean about your mind wandering. It happens to me, too, sometimes even on my recap night!
You may be right about Domingo knowing Don R is Loli's father. I hadn't thought so, but you, novelera, and VVS are making me reconsider.
La Suerte de Loli #57
Just a few lines to stimulate conversation.
Octavio is taking care of Nicky while everyone is at the hospital. These two are so cute together.
Rogelio shows up at the hospital when Domingo is just embracing Nora to comfort her.
Loli remembers that Mariana said Sam's father was a famous musician.
Octavio brings Nicky to Hunky bar and eventually and very gently tells him about Sam.
The bearded snake, Rufino, chats with the clean-shaven snake, Vicente, about Karen leaving. Rufino opines it would have been better for Karen to stay at GR, propose things that he, Rufino, would vote for on the board.
Selma has another episode. She wants to go home.
Cesar tells Rox how difficult it will be to get enough capital to start a new restaurant. Later on Rox, after first being dubious, invites him to move in.
Vicente tells Pau he's signing a contract for his radio station.
Loli finds some post card in her bedroom that mentions Los Galanes de Chihuahua having been in town 17 years before Rafa calls to invite them to be on Rox's show.
Bruno gets terrible advice from Melissa about his job interview with Rogelio.
Some guy comes in to meet with Loli. He's considering sponsoring the Latin Music Festival. Big surprise...Salvador isn't there either. Bruno does the sales job and gets $500K if he gets Los Tucanes de Tijuana to be in the festival. Nasty Angie is chewing Bruno. Bruno gets no credit and no interview with Rogelio.
Pau is starting to get gold feet. She's not happy when Chente only thinks of her image when she wants to fund raise for Sam. And then she meets with his ex, Silvia, who paints an awful picture of him.
There's a long scene where Rafa and Loli work together trying to find out which band member is Sam's father. They decide it's the leader, Lupillo, but he seems to only want to hit on Loli.
Matias comes to tell Gabriel they won't be able to adopt. And ends up saying they'll do it.
Octavio calls Rosarita and his mother, Ramona, answers. He says it's her son.
Thank you novelera for continuing to provide a Wednesday recap! Your “few” lines certainly covered a lot of ground.
I didn’t get the whole band thing. So Loli finds a concert ticket and immediately assumes someone in the band is Sam’s dad just because they have a mustache, a mole on the bum and are “famous?” Octavio has a mustache, I could certainly check to see if he has mole on his bum and maybe he started his career as a singer in Las Vegas! (Okay, I am stretching this hope a bit thin).
So interesting that Paulina had a talk with the EX who didn’t hold back anything. I hope she heeds the warning.
“The bearded snake, Rufino, chats with the clean-shaven snake, Vicente.” What a great description of these two losers! Not sure what Rufino gets out of the demise of Global Radio.
Salvador and Angie show true colors by taking the credit from Bruno for landing that huge sponsor. Bruno should have spoken up! Not a time to be shy.
I really hope Mati can pull off the fostering of Gabe and Christe.
It seemed to me that Octavio actually had that phone number already programed in his phone. His mom, Ramona, did not seem to have an Argentinian accent.
Guess we all have a night off for the Latin Music awards! Thanks again novelera!
Many thanks, novelera, for your short but inclusive mini-cap.
Oy, so Mariana claims that Sam's father was a musician--not just a musician, someone famous and mustached, with a birthmark where the sun doesn't shine. My first thought was...Salvador! I certainly hope he is NOT the father, but as far as we can see, he fits the bill. (As for what we can't see...let it stay hidden.) I then wondered about Octavio--he too has a mustache, but was he ever a musician, let alone someone famous? I hope Loli decides he needs a thorough examination.
Bruno seems so inept to me, I find it very hard to believe that he landed a $500K sponsorship for Global Radio.
I LOVED your description "The bearded snake, Rufino, chats with the clean-shaven snake, Vicente." Perfect!
I also loved Nicky's saying to Octavio that they needed to have a "man-to-man talk." And then he asks an amazingly insightful question: "What are you keeping from me?"
VVS, I really enjoyed your comments. I see you and I are still holding out a little hope that Octavio is Sam's father. Needless to say, I too would happily check for the mole or birthmark or whatever.
Good question about Rufino and what he'd gain from Global Radio's demise. He doesn't strike me as the sort of person who does things simply out of the goodness of his heart.
Yes, Bruno should have spoken up, I guess. It seems very unlike him NOT to speak up. I guess he only speaks up when it's inappropriate. (As you can tell, I'm not a big fan. Indeed, as I said in my comment to novelera, I find it very hard to believe that he could have landed a $500K sponsorship.)
I too would like to see Mati and Art adopt/foster Gabe and his sister.
