TELEMUNDO Y MÁS (#1): La Suerte de Loli, Buscando a Frida, y más: Week of April 26, 2021

Welcome to Page #1 (Monday edition) of the Telemundo y Más page, issued twice a week: Mondays and Thursdays at 8:00 PM.

Here are the current evening telenovelas (all times are Eastern Daylight Time):

• 9-10PM—La Suerte de Loli**
• 10-11PM—Buscando a Frida

**There's some question about whether La Suerte de Loli will be shown on Wednesday, April 28. Zap2It says it will be shown. Telemundo's website, however, shows Mensaje a la nación at 9 pm. President Biden is set to address a joint session of Congress on April 28, so perhaps Telemundo is planning to air that address instead of Loli. Both Telemundo and Zap2It show Buscando a Frida as airing as usual on Wednesday.

Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation. Since discussions of all the Telemundo novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post, so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for.

By common agreement, this group DOES NOT discuss previews, trailers, or any other plot information not found in a current or past episode of the current production. Spoilers WILL be removed by the admin. This includes reference to earlier productions of the story, and even the original novel. Thanks for your cooperation!

Loli

Hi All! Working on the recap to this rather serious and pivotal episode. It will be up later this morning.

The best made plans to get this out early was completely destroyed by a wind storm and power failure this morning. I have been patiently waiting for the power and internet to return. Finally, here we go!

Loli – Episode # 64
Part 1

Loli walks in on Rafa saying to Don Rogelio “you have to tell Loli you are her dad.” Loli, very surprised, says what? What do you mean? Looking annoyed, Don Rogelio tells her, I am your dad, we have a lot to talk about. In disbelief and anger, Loli tells him that she doesn’t want to know and orders both he and Rafa out of her house.

As Loli is herding them out, Norita comes down the stairs. Loli tells her, do you know what this man just told me? He says he is my father! Norita, also surprised, says so you are the one Rocio fell in love with? Loli wants to know how her mom knew Don R? Does her papa Domingo know that Don R. is her real dad? No? Then don’t any one of your mention it to him!

Don Rogelio tries to explain that Loli’s mom, Rocio, told him on her deathbed that he was her dad. It then dawns on Loli: So you hired me at Global Radio because of this? Me and Vicente are brother and sister?

Loli then turns on Rafa shouting at him that it was his responsibility to tell her! She trusted him! How long had he known this truth? Rafa says he just found out. Loli is not buying any of their respective BS and heads upstairs in a huff. Norita also lets Don R have it saying that all these years he has lied to all of the them. She never wants to see him again!

Octavio comes down from Nicky’s room, witnesses part of the dust up and asks what is up? Don R, just shakes his head and leaves, Rafa tells Octavio that if Nicky doesn’t find out what happened to his DNA dad, then this scene in destined to repeat in the future.

Norita is talking to Domingo. She doesn’t mince words and discovers that Domingo always did know that Rogelio (I am a bit ticked at him right now so dropping the “Don”) was Loli’s dad. Rocio apparently was Rogelio’s secretary and fell in love with him. Domingo is not happy that Rogelio did tell Loli this long held, painful secret. Norita shares that Rogelio protected Domingo and never let on that Domingo also knew the truth. She also recommends that Domingo not tell Loli he always knew the truth. (This conversation was hard to watch as I really felt very sorry for Domingo’s heartbreaking situation).

Loli – Episode #64
Part 2

Paulina and Vicente arrive back from the concert (or theater?) they attended. Both pouring flowers over each other about how the media wouldn’t leave them alone because they are the perfect power couple (huge eye roll). Chente tells her that he thought about the prenup and will sign it, no problems, as he has waited his whole life for the moment. They both “agree” it is just a piece of paper. Without a kiss or hug, Chente leaves Pau to rest, saying on his way out that he loves her. She smiles and says “I know.”

At Mati and Art’s, we see another uncomfortable scene at the dinner table. No one is talking and Mati is trying to get a conversation going asking if Gabe and Christi enjoyed the pasta he made for dinner. Gabe immediately says yes, the pasta is good and has to encourage Christi to respond. She also says that the dinner is good and thanks Mati for being so friendly and nice, a clear poke at grumpy Art sitting at the head of the table. Selma is watching everything and says she is going to be watch her novela and reminds the sullen Art to have the kids get to bed early. Christi excuses herself from the table and Art leaves saying he has some emails to respond to.

Mati apologizes to Gabe for the awkward weekend. Gabe is gracious and thanks Mati but says that if Art didn’t want them there Mati should not have insisted. Gabe doesn’t mind the cold shoulder from Art, but he won’t let his sister suffer.

At the Sunday morning breakfast table, Nicky is teasing Sam about her visit from Gabriel the day before saying that Gabo isn’t her friend but her boyfriend and they are sure to be married. Sam, who is eating and looks good, tells him not to be chismoso, Norita gets a good laugh at Nicky’s antics and comments. Domingo joins them to Nicky’s delight, hugs all around, glad he is feeling better. Domingo asks for Loli. According to Nicky, she has a stomach ache and should probably be given some pink medicine. Norita says all Loli needs is some space. Domingo says he is heading out but will be back shortly.

Chente is working out by his fabulous pool and get a call from Rufino the inside traitor to inform him that Rogelio is making plans to change his will and add another person to the inheritance. Chente cannot believe this, Rufino tells Chente to find out who this person is. Chente rants that no one will take away his inheritance!

Loli – Episode #64
Part 3

Rogelio is sitting at the conference room at Global Radio (gratefully we are spared any Sunday Lupe sightings!) remembering the conversation years before when Rocio, on her deathbed, told him that Loli was his daughter. Domingo (wearing the exact same bolo tie he wears in current day) overhears her last confession. She explains that this wasn’t the way she wanted to tell them but time was running out. Domingo is furious and tells Rogelio that he (Domingo) will ALWAYS be Loli’s father!

Back to current day, Domingo comes into the conference room furious that Rogelio broke their contract of silence. Rogelio says it was an accident but Domingo is not hearing any of it. He lets Rogelio have it for sure (I had a hard time understanding the conversation so any help would be great!) telling him that Rocio rip his heart out when she disclosed this secret and he doesn’t want to hear any of Rogelio’s half-hearted attempts to make excuses. Rogelio says he is just trying to correct his many life errors and Domingo tells him that his rich life has meant nothing and Rogelio isn’t as important as he believes that he is.

Loli, in a robe and pj’s is channel surfing in the living room. Nicky asks if she is feeling better and if not, he could give her some of the pink stuff for her stomach. Loli says all she needs is to hug him and does. The doorbell rings, Nicky runs to answer the door for Rafa who says he is there to visit with Loli. Loli tells Nicky, tell him I am not here. Nicky confides to Rafa that she has a stomach ache and seems to be a bit sad. Rafa tells Nicky he is just going to talk to Loli. Nicky runs upstairs. Loli ignores Rafa as he tells her that he did not lie to her or betray her and that the fact Rogelio is her dad was not his secret to tell.

Loli is not having any of his self-distancing talk and says that he should have told her about Rogelio! She proceeds to say that just as she is opening up to the possibility of being with him, he does something to put a wedge between them. First not telling her about being appointed president, then the whole Pauline sponsorship and now this! She just can’t trust him! Rafa wants to know what Loli wants. She says she knows what she doesn’t want and that is continue in a relationship with him. She continues to tell him that he always manages to tell half-truths and skirts the issues so he comes out unscathed and looking the hero. (She has point there).

Loli – Episode #64
Part 4

Rafa cannot believe she is shutting him out so easily once again. She demands that he leaves. On his way out, he tells Nicky to take care of Loli. (Viewerville all look at our phones to call Octavio and give him the heads up that the road is now Rafa free!!).

Norita brings Loli a tray of food to her bedroom. Norita tells Loli that usually she does not agree with her on many things, but in this case, she completely understands why Loli is so down. Domingo comes in to check on Loli saying they need to talk, but Norita jumps in telling Loli, you need to tell him the truth. Loli tells Domingo that she discovered Rogelio is her dad. Domingo doesn’t do a very good job of covering, but eventually, Loli is fooled enough by his reaction to tell him how sorry she is that they were both victims of the lies from her mom and Rogelio.

Later, Norita asks Domingo what happened? Explains that he overheard Rocio telling Rogelio that Loli was his child. The agreement he and Rogelio came to was that Domingo would always be Loli’s recognized father and Rogelio would take care of her by offering her a job at Global Radio. (Thanks a lot Rogelio, Loli started as secretary and worked her way up while Chente lived a life of spoiled luxury!).

Domingo never wanted to tell Loli about her mother’s mistakes because Loli adored her mom and he didn’t want to ruin that image of her.

Speaking of spoiled brats, Chente is working at home and talking to Rufino to get more information about the change in Rogelio’s will and grousing about how his dad has no right to make changes to anything. Rogelio shows up at Chente’s doorstep. He tells Chente that they need to talk. Rogelio is planning on completing a living inheritance. Chente tells him to do it, as he is the only heir. No, says Rogelio, you are not. I am letting you know that the inheritance will be split with your sister. My sister? (Chente’s face begins to contort) Yes, your half-sister. Loli has all the same rights as you do to my inheritance. Loli? (more face contortions) Loli? Loli is my sister? Chente spits out. How can that be?

Chente rants on about how Loli is just an employee and doesn’t deserve the inheritance. He mocks Rogelio’s perfect dad and business owner image saying that he is 1000% better than Rogelio.

Loli - #64
Part 5

Chente says he hasn’t lived a lie like his father, this is who he is and he is not going to give up one penny of his inheritance to anyone, especially Loli! Rogelio says he isn’t going to continue lying about Loli and she has every right to half of everything. Chente continue to sputter on, looking like he sucked a bag of lemons. (So worth it to wait 64 episodes to see Chente like this!).

Later, Chente is scheming up some plan with Rufino to take down Rogelio. He gloats that the demise of his father will certainly cause Loli’s fall as well.

Rox is looking through Cesar’s pant and shirt pockets trying to figure out who he is seeing behind her back.

Mati and selfish Art get into a huge fight after Mati dropped off Gabe and Christi. Jack comes in and breaks up the fight telling Mati that he needs to go out for some air and Jack will join him. Selma comes in and sadly tells Art not to fight with Mati.

Octavio and Divina come over to visit and check on Domingo. Divina is wearing a sports jacket that looks a lot like the suit Nicky was wearing an episode or two back. There is a great conversation of how everyone but Norita knows Divina. (this was the only cute, semi funny scene in this episode).

Loli is visiting Mariana at the cemetery. Seeking guidance, she finds a video of Mariana and the kids at a park in the middle of the week. Mariana has called in to work and took the kids out of school just to have fun! She encourages Loli to always follow her heart.

Loli is at her office clearly writing out notes to her friends as she has decided to leave Global Radio. As she writes guidance to Rox about how wonderful she can be when not being impulsive, we see that Rox is looking through the restaurant window with Dulce and Cesar obviously having a good time together as they lock up the restaurant. Rox, assuming the worst, storms off.

Loli continues her writing and to Mati tells him how proud she is of his professional growth and thanks him for really being a great friend. Their friendship will continue, she is sure of that. She tells where all the information is to complete the music festival. As she is typing away, we see Mati in bed and as he looks over to the pillow next to him, we see Jack sleeping peacefully.

The next morning, Loli is in her office as movers are carrying out several large boxes. The last thing she boxes up is her picture of “The Girls” with her and Mariana. Rogelio comes into her office and looks around, the reality dawning on his face. Loli hands him an envelope. What is this he asks? My resignation from Global Radio Loli responds.

loli

Wow, VVS, you got a episode loaded with events and knocked it out of the park. [Sorry about the baseball metaphors. The Giants scored 12 runs last night!] Terrific descriptions and asides.

Does Chente think Rogelio is going to die soon? He behaves like the inheritance is almost in his bank account and he's lost out on it. Well, novelas do exaggerate; it's what they do.

Speaking of exaggeration, Rafa just found out about Loli's father being Rogelio and was in the process of urging him to 'fess up when Loli walked in. She behaved as if he'd kept a secret from her for years. '

I'm predicting Rox and Loli will be knocking back some shots of tequila soon.

I can understand Loli's resignation. A big part of her self esteem was believing that she'd worked her way up in GR by being good at her job and hardworking. Well, she was always that, but now feels it was nepotism.

I can't believe I missed Mati and Jack in bed together. I must have been in a coma.

Melissa opened the envelope with the paycheck in it and was aghast. But Bruno lied that he'd be making big bucks on commissions going forward. I am SO sick of these two.

I appreciated Nora being so kind to Loli after all their differences.

Nicky and Divina are just so heartwarming together.

Sorry, guys. I think Loli and Rafa are going to end up together at the end.

loli

Thank you VERY much, VVS, for this splendid recap. I think you captured just about everything worth capturing. You expressed everything so well. I was especially impressed by "Without a kiss or hug, Chente leaves Pau to rest, saying on his way out that he loves her. She smiles and says “I know.”" Your details say it all!

And I appreciated the "Bruno FF>>" that appeared in invisible ink :-).

I LOVED your asides! Needless to say, one of my favorites was "(Viewerville all look at our phones to call Octavio and give him the heads up that the road is now Rafa free!!)." YES! Another winner was "(So worth it to wait 64 episodes to see Chente like this!)." YES, again! I confess I do wonder what Ruffino said to Chente about something he (Ruffino) had found. He asks Chente whether he's sure he wants to do this, making it clear that "it's war."

I had a hard time keeping track of all the accounts of Rocio's telling Rogelio that he's the father. Even the flashback they showed didn't seem to agree with the flashback they showed weeks ago. Then, the room was quite dark, Domingo enters as Rocio is telling Rogelio that he's Loli's father, it's not even clear whether they see that Domingo has entered the room. Last night's flashback was well lit, and the two men seemed to be standing next to each other. Oh well, if they keep ofering more accounts of the incident in tonight's episode, I think I'll FF>>. ¡Ya basta!

Indeed, given all the things I'm getting tired of, I think I should put ¡Ya basta! on my clipboard and just keep pasting it in. :-)

I wonder what Loli envisioned as her next job when she handed Rogelio her resignation letter. Did she feel she could afford to quit because, ironically, she was about to get a bundle from Rogelio? She does have to think about these mundane concerns, since she has responsibility for two growing children. Or did she just act out of spontaneous anger, just as, at one time or another, she spontaneously jumped into the arms of Salvador, Octavio, and Rafa?

Tonight's episode should be interesting.

loli

novelera, I didn't see your comment until I'd posted mine. What's this about Mati and Jack in bed together? I don't think VVS said that, and I don't remember it happening. I do remember Mati in bed, but I'm pretty sure it was Art lying next to him.

I fear you're right about Loli and Rafa winding up together. Sigh. For some time now, I've been on Team Octavio. And still am.

loli

"As she is typing away, we see Mati in bed and as he looks over to the pillow next to him, we see Jack sleeping peacefully." From next to last paragraph in Part 5 of VVS's recap.

loli

One of the things I'm not clear about is whether those shares of Varela Industries are Loli's after Don R's demise or would be received before his death. I don't think Loli is counting on anything from Don R. but it does seem a bit feckless to quit her job with all those people depending on her.

I suppose she could sell the house she owns and never visits (unless, as VVS mentioned, that is where she and Rafa talked after the "gala"), assuming there's equity in it above the mortgage balance to get by until she finds another job. But...when have telenovela writers ever engaged in logic!

Loli

Hi novelera and Juanita for your terrific comments. I watched the last 5 minutes several times to make sure that it was indeed Jack in the Sack with Mati!

I just cannot recap the silly Bruno scenes, especially since I don’t even watch them. I appreciate you all adding a few comments for content.

I also thought the retelling of Rocio’s reveal discussion had a lot of different vantage points and was bit confusing.

I understood that Rogelio was doing a “living” inheritance so my guess is Loli (and Chente) would receive the goods up front, before Don R passed away.

I am not sure what Loli plans on doing to maintain her current lifestyle without a job on the horizon. Maybe she, Divina and Octavio can orchestrate a fun remodel of the Hunky Bar! 😊

loli

I just read VVS's statement about Mati and Jack. I guess my mind was playing tricks on me last night. In terms of the plot, it does make sense for Mati to be fed up enough with Art to go to bed with Jack, but where is this taking place? Not in Mati and Art's place, I hope.

And yes, "living inheritance" is the term I was trying to think of to describe Rogelio's plans. Thanks, VVS. In spite of my earlier statement, I don't really think that Loli was depending on Rogelio's bequest when she decided to quit, but I'm also not sure she has given a lot of thought to how she can afford to do that. She often tends to jump first and think afterward. :-)

Loli

I’m sorry I don’t have more time to comment. I’m working overtime tonight to meet a deadline. VVS, I want to take time on my dinner break to praise your outstanding recap! Simply fabulous! Extremely helpful! And you finished in spite of the power outage.

This was some episode.

Not worried about Loli because it will work out for her and yeah, she will end up with Rafa. Really bummed about her ending up with Rafa.

What the hell? Mati and Jack?!?

Back to work.

dondi356

Hi dondi356! Thank you for taking the time to comment even if you are super busy! We are all bummed that Loli will end up with Rafa, but we can still have fun (with Octavio) until that happens.

It was only a matter of time before Mati hopped in the sack with Jack especially the way Art acts. He is very self-centered in my opinion. Juanita, I think the bedroom in question might be Jack's since he was quick to take Mati out for some "fresh air" to calm down from the fight with Art.

I am curious to find our what Chente has cooked up in his demented mind to destroy his papa.

Loli

No additional comments here, except that I love how everyone, including Domingo, has accepted Divina as a part of their lives. "Gay cross-dresser that Loli met in prison who now works in a stripper bar? Family!" When he and Octavio are done fixing Domingo, send them over to Art and Mati. Show therapists seem to be their role here even though they both deserve better.

La Suerte de Loli - #65 - p 1 de 3

We again see Loli giving Don Rogelio her letter of resignation. He asks her not to resign. She tells him he should have told her that he was her father a long time ago. There were any number of times when he might have done so. He reminds her that Global Radio is her place, it's where she built her career. He pleads with her not to leave. He has always believed in her, believed that she had the talent and skills to succeed. She remains unsure why he hired her, she feels her career was built on a lie, and she doesn't feel comfortable. He assures her he just wants her to be OK. "I'll be OK," she assures him.

After spending the night with Jack, Mati is back home with Art. Art mentions that Mati didn't come home that night. Mati said he stayed at a hotel, because he didn't want to come home angry. Art asks forgiveness for anything he said that upset Mati. Mati insists he's the one who should ask forgiveness...for bringing Gabriel and Cristie without Art's agreement. Now Art is upset because he has to get to work and Jack hasn't yet arrived. Mati assures him that Jack will be there soon. Art looks at him strangely. Mati clarifies, Jack is never late.

We then see Rox, Mati, and Rafa read the messages Loli left for them at the end of last night's episode. Rox is clearly upset. Cesar asks if something is the matter. Rox tells him, "My friend, confidante, sister resigned from Global Radio. You think you know someone, and you find you don't." Cesar asks, "We're talking about Loli, right?" Rox tells him we'll talk later.

Paulina notices that Vicente seems tense. She asks him about it. He tells her "It has to do with Loli and me." [I can just imagine what she may be thinking. She then has to wait until several minutes of commercials run before she finds out more.]

Octavio tells Domingo he'll be by to take him to a therapy session.

Bruno calls Altimio to ask why he hasn't brought Bruno's boss's car back. Altimio assures him all is well and he'll do so soon.

Vicente tells Pau about Rogelio's being Loli's father and including her in his will. Pau thinks it's like something straight out of a novela. She asks Vicente who Loli's mother is. Vicente tells he he has no idea, and he doesn't care. What bothers him most is that Rogelio is going to include Loli in his will. " He's giving her shares in Global Radio. Can you believe it? I won't permit it!" Pau urges him not to let anger get the better of him. Vicente replies that he's not going to sit back and do nothing.

Octavio takes Domingo to a therapy session in the park. A group of people are doing exercise. Domingo says "it looks like slow-motion karate, not therapy." Octavio insists that it's a kind of therapy, and that it works on your mind, too.

Bruno manages to get to Global Radio without Don Rogelio's car. Lupe asks about the car. Bruno tells her he took it to a different agency. They're slower, but they do excellent work. Lupe warns him that if anything happens to Don Rogelio's favorite car, Bruno won't be able to work enough overtime to pay for it.

Don R phones Nora. She answers and tells him the only reason she answered was to tell him she doesn't want anything more to do with him. Don R tells her Loli has resigned, and he needs a chance to explain things to Nora. "I need you," he tells her. "Forget about me," replies a furious Nora. Bruno has heard part of Don R's end of the conversation. Very upset, Bruno asks, "Did you and my mother break up?" Not waiting for an answer, Bruno continues, "I'll tell you how to win her back. I'll give you tips. And I'll keep calling you Papa while you work things out." "No," Don R replies, "I'm your boss." He leaves.

La Suerte de Loli - #65 - p 2 de 3

Pau and Angie talk on the phone. Pau asks, "How come Loli quit Global Radio? It was her world." Angie replies that no one seems to know. Loli didnt even quit in person. She sent notes to people and then left. Angie's convinced there must be more to it. Don Rogelio looks devastated. Pau observes, "He treated her as if she were his daughter." Angie notes that Rafa, too, is unhappy. Vicente, on the other hand, will surely be happy, since he wanted Loli out of Global Radio.

Vicente comes by as Pau ends the phone call. He assures her, "Don't worry, everything is under control."

Octavio and Domingo return from the outdoor therapy session. Domingo didn't like it and doesn't want to go again. He asks Octavio how he is after going to see his mother. Octavio replies that he thought he'd hate her, but he doesn't. "She's my mother, and she's on her own," he says, somewhat compassionately.
Domingo then explains to Octavio that the reason his hand trembled is that he was very tense because Loli found out who her bio father is and talked to him. It's Don Rogelio. Loli quit her job. "No wonder everyone is so tense," says Octavio.

Don R comes to see Nora and Loli. Nora answers the door and again makes it clear she wants nothing more to do with Don R. "Perhaps Loli will want to talk to you, but I don't." Loli is willing to talk with him. When they're alone, she asks him, "Did you love my mother?" "Yes, very much." "Why didn't you get divorced?" she asks. "We didn't want to hurt Domingo. And then Rocio became ill." He continues, "I can't do anything about the past. But I want to make amends." He hands her a document. He tells her he's giving her 30% of Global Radio's shares, the same as he's giving Vicente. Loli tells him, "Keep it. It's yours and your son's. I'll manage on my own." Don R urges her to read over the document he's given her. "It's the right thing to do," he says, and then he leaves. Loli tells Nora, "He wants to make up for what he did with money."

Domingo is still at Octavio's place. Octavio tells him that he's always welcome there. Divina comes into the room and greets Domingo warmly. S/he suggests that they bring Nora there, let her see a show or two, it might warm her up. Domingo can't imagine Nora there. Suddenly, Rafa arrives. He and Domingo are surprised to see each other there. Rafa says he'd like speak with Octavio alone. Domingo and Divina leave. Rafa then asks Octavio, "What do you know about Nicky's father?" "He's dead," Octavio replies, "that's all I know." Rafa wants to know how Octavio knows this. Octavio tells him he went to the sperm bank and got the information from them. "How? Did you steal it?" asked Rafa. Octavio is understandably put off by Rafa's question. He tells him that he asked Apolo to find out. If Rafa wants more information, he should talk to Apolo.

Sam is in her room texting and laughing. Nicky comes in. He's worried because Loli is out of work. "How will she support us? What if she stays poor?" Sam tries to assure him that both Loli and their grandmother have savings. Nicky says he has figured out a way for Sam and him to make money. "We could work. You would make videos, and I could sell newspapers." He demonstrates his sales technique. Sam bursts his balloon by telling him that newspapers are digitized now.

Rafa comes to see Apolo. He asks Apolo how he found out about Nicky's father. He claims that Apolo stole the papers from the sperm bank. Apolo says Nicky's father's wife told him that her husband fell from a scaffold and was then run over by a steamroller. Rafa is skeptical. "It sounds like a cartoon." Apolo adds, "like coyote and the roadrunner."

La Suerte de Loli - #65 - p 3 de 3

Vicente shows up at Global Radio (I think at a board meeting). He asks Lupe to get him some coffee. Don R enters and tells Vicente that he's not at Nova Radio, and he shouldn't give orders to his (Don R's) employees. He then asks Vicente why he's there. Vicente replies, "To fulfill my position as the only owner of Global Radio. I won't hand over my company just because you feel guilty." Don R tells the others at the meeting that he'd like to talk with his son alone. The others leave. Vicente tells Don R, "You cheated on my mother." Don R tells him, "You'll still have shares." Vicente tells Don R "You kicked me out and now you're taking away my shares. You'll give away my inheritance over my dead body." [All in favor, say Aye.]

Melissa calls Bruno. Altimio didn't return the same car. The one he returned is a mess, with a horn that blares "La Cucaracha"! She berates Bruno for giving the car to Altimio. When she gets off the phone with Bruno, she gets a call from the woman Marcelino made pregnant (I don't remember her name). "You have a sister!" the woman tells Melissa.

Octavio leaves Domingo alone for a short time in Octavio's apartment. Domingo starts searching and finds what he's looking for--presumably the report from the sperm bank. He immediately calls Rafa and, in a whisper, asks whether he's still interested in Nicky's father. He gives Rafa an address and the name Raul Acuña.

Vicente comes to see Loli. "We need to talk, hermanita."

Pau comes to see Rafa. "I heard Loli quit. I came to see whether you're OK." She continues, "I can't help thinking about her. Poor thing. And you, too, you were close." Rafa replies coldly, "She'll be missed at the office." Pau lets him know, "You can count on me."

Selma has apparently disappeared. Jack tells Mati, "I went to the bathroom, and when I got out, she was gone." Mati tells him that what happened between them the other night shouldn't have happened. "You're right," Jack replies.

The woman on the phone tells Melissa that the baby has been named Leona Melissa, in part after Melissa. She also tells Melissa that she hasn't heard from Marcelino in several weeks. He's not answering his phone or his messages.
[Raise your hand if you're surprised.] Melissa tells her she doesn't know where her father is. She continues, "You took advantage of us and betrayed us."

Loli tells Vicente that she won't take the money from Don Rogelio. Vicente is amused that she still calls him Don Rogelio, rather than Papá. She asks Vicente if he has come to blackmail her. He admits that originally he thought of doing so, but he has changed his mind. "We've both been hurt by Rogelio," he tells her.
"I'd like to destroy him," he says. "How about you?"

We will have to wait until Thursday to hear Loli's answer. La Suerte de Loli will be pre-empted on Wednesday by President Biden's address to Congress.

Loli

I really enjoy your recaps Juanita! Thank you! I liked this comment about Paulina: [I can just imagine what she may be thinking. She then has to wait until several minutes of commercials run before she finds out more.] There are sure a lot of commercials! I definitely think Paulina “went there” for a few seconds.

I also really enjoyed:
“You'll give away my inheritance over my dead body." [All in favor, say Aye.] I vote Aye too!

I like the outdoorsy therapy that Octavio helps people with. First Gabriel with basketball and now Domingo (Saturday, as Divina called him 😊) with Tai Chi.

So why would Apolo lie to Octavio about finding out that Nicky’s bio dad is dead? Is super hero Rafa going to discover something different? I was also confused by Domingo snooping through Octavio’s things to find the sperm bank data. I thought he might be looking for Octavio’s mom’s phone number for some reason to help connect the two. What do I know about these crazy plot lines.

Loli might be upset with Don R but she is certainly not going to join forces with Chente, he is loco to even think that! I know that Don R is trying to make amends, but he should have waited a bit to “throw” money at Loli like that.

I am still surprised that Mati and Jack actually “got some air.” I thought Jack was pretty respectful of Art and Mati’s marriage, but I guess not. I wasn’t even sure Jack was gay but I guess so!

If we have to have a show pre-empted, Wednesday is the best night for it!

Thanks very much, VVS, for your great comments. I too was confused about why Domingo would go snooping through Octavio's things. And your suggestion about the mother is a very plausible one. I loved your "What do I know about these crazy plot lines." Actually, the less we understand about the plot lines, the more sane and sensible we are!

Needless to say, I vote Aye as well! :-)

And yes, pre-empting on Wednesday works well for our recap schedule.

Thanks so much, Juanita. Terrific recap! And a lot happened.

Don R is a widower so Vicente can't marry his mother in order to do a full Oedipus, but he sure seems like his pulse wouldn't quicken if he killed his father. The actor is doing a great job portraying someone close to a sociopath.

I kept wondering why Octavio didn't just say Tai Chi when he took Domingo to that group exercise event. Mr. Google tells me that the exercise has mental benefits as well as physical ones. I tried it a few times but tend to prefer the sort of things involving cardio work.

I suppose if I could summon up even a giggle at the Bruno/Melissa disaster it might have been the sight of that "ghetto" car playing La Cucaracha. Bruno desperately trying to get his mother and Don R's relationship back on track was SO awful. I simply don't have enough imagination to conjure up a scenario where Bruno and Melissa reform.

Marcelino's paramour was apparently abandoned in Mexico and is looking for a handout. It wouldn't surprise me if she moved in with them.

I can't quite figure out Chente's plan. He only has Rufino on his side on the Board, so I don't see how he could do any damage. He might go for declaring Rogelio senile, but that doesn't appear likely.

It's my understanding that novelas are not necessarily filmed sequentially. So they might have had more details of Mati and Jack that were intended for later filming and omitted because of pandemic restrictions. It was sort of abrupt and odd. I have wanted Mati to jump ship on Art for a long time, but the writers haven't given us many signs of a warming trend between Mati and Jack.

Paulina appears to be trying to worm her way back into Rafa's affections by putting on the supportive friend act.

Many thanks, novelera, for your wonderful comments.

Enjoyed your Oedipal associations. I confess I see Chente more as Sourpuss than Oedipus.

I almost wrote "tai chi" in the recap, but I wasn'treally sure, and besides, I loved Domingo's "slow-motion karate," so I decided to leave it at that.

Common sense would dictate that Marcelino's paramour will not wind up living with Bruno and Melissa. Which means she very well may!

And yes, Paulina is certainly trying to get Rafa back. I'm hoping he's not as pathetically vulnerable as he sometimes seems. But with 35 more episodes to go, I'm not confident. The writers have got to come up with something to keep the plot moving.

I'm also confused about Apolo and whether or not what he told Octavio about Nicky's bio Dad is true or not.

Could he have lied to Octavio because of his own interest in the Hunky Bar?

Victoria, when Rafa and Apolo had that conversation, I thought maybe Apolo had lied about the bio dad being dead so Octavio and Nicky would continue to be close. Apolo is meddlesome, but I think he really cares about Octavio.

Juanita, LOVED the play on words of Oedipus and Sourpuss!

Thanks, Juanita, for another excellent recap.

These past few episodes have been an improvement. And the Wednesday break was good for me.

LOL--“[I can just imagine what she may be thinking. She then has to wait until several minutes of commercials run before she finds out more.]”

“Pau thinks it's like something straight out of a novela.” I always love these little winks to viewerville.

Vicente: “[All in favor, say Aye.]” Ay, Ay, AYE!

What’s up with Rafa’s sudden interest in Nicky’s father? Did he ever make a donation to this sperm bank? Good grief, I hope they don’t go there! And what is Apolo hiding? Does this mean there is still a chance Octavio is Nicky’s dad?

They keep mentioning Octavio’s parents. What’s the point? Are we ever going to meet his mother?

I would have liked it better if Mati didn’t become a cheater. Now he’s no better than Art.

Thanks muchly, dondi356, for your very interesting comments.

Good questions about the issue of Nicky's father. I assumed that Rafa's interest was prompted by his interest in Loli. It never occurred to me that he might have donated to the sperm bank in years past. Like you, I hope they don't go there. Even though it seems increasingly likely that Rafa and Loli will wind up together, I don't want to see him turn out to be Nicky's bio dad. And yes, Apolo's possibly hiding something does seem to leave open a small possibility that Octavio will turn out to be Nicky's bio dad. ¡Ojalá!

I too was somewhat disappointed that Matt cheated on Art. Come to think of it, almost every important character in the novela has cheated on his/her partner or love interest at one time (or two or three or four) or another. Off hand, the only ones I can think of who didn't cheat (at least sexually) were the Deadbrain Duo: Bruno and Melissa. What does that say about cheating? That it takes at least some minimal intelligence?? (Hmmm... Perhaps Nora, too, hasn't cheated. Of course, we know very little about her history.)
