novelera, I agree with you about Bruno. I don't really hate him as much as I hate his unrelenting stupidity. Like you, I dislike Melissa more than I dislike Bruno, but he keeps agreeing with and encouraging her. When she says they need two new cars, and poor deprived Carol pipes up claiming she needs one too, idiot Bruno tells them not to worry, he'll soon be able to buy three cars. He knows he's just Don Rogelio's flunky and not a well-paid marketing director, but instead of being honest with Melissa and Carol, he encourages and enables their mercenary expectations. I can't decide whether he's more a fool than a coward or vice versa. Either way, he gets on my nerves.

La Suerte de Loli - #62 – Parte 1 de 3

From Wednesday: Loli walks in overhearing Rafa say to Pau: “No one can know that you put up the $2 million for the Music Festival!”

Loli is furious about Pau and the $2 million. “You are the competition. Does Vicente know?” Rafa tells Loli that he found out about this when he was about to sign the contract. [that contract between GR and a company named after the place Pau and Rafa spent their honeymoon was how he figured it out]. Loli storms out of the room telling Rafa to stay with Pau. Pau offers Rafa one of the most fake apologies I’ve ever seen.

Octavio confides in Apolo about going to see his mother in Rosarito. He says it was very weird; they were like two strangers. She kept trying to force him to remember things from his childhood and also to force him to call her mamá. His father was cremated before the funeral. His mother gave him the ashes. He scattered them in the ocean, as his father had wished.

All I can say is…TOO MUCH BRUNO AND MELISSA. I’m taking one for the team here. Bruno comes home tired because the limo died on him again, he had to push it and then take the bus (poor baby). Melissa has a surprise for him. She bought back her engagement ring from the pawnshop, using the money meant to pay the mortgage. She’s sure he’ll make that up with his first paycheck. The nut case goes on to tell her to go ahead and buy back everything she hocked!

Jack, Selma’s caregiver, advises Mati to tell Art about his agreeing to foster Gabriel and Christi.

MORE idiocies! Even though Carol isn’t graduating this year, she has her eye on a graduation ring. Bruno weakly tries to talk them out of it…mentioning a tablet and a trip somewhere for Carol, later…much later. But Melissa says Carol will get all three. Later we find out that the ring is $5,000. The two harpies decide it would be nice to get one for Sam, too, a much cheaper one, of course.

Cesar is back working at the restaurant he gave Dulce. It feels like we may have missed a scene because maybe he was supposed to go to the Nova gala with Rox and he’s stood her up. She calls and he doesn't pick up. Dulce gives a feeble apology for so many diners; there were less last week. [Could it be because the one who CAN cook is back?] She tells him he’s happy here in the restaurant. He agrees; maybe she’d like to give it back to him? She won’t do that, but she wants to hire him to replace the cook who quit.

Chente has brought Pau home and is chortling with glee about what a great impression Pau made on the guests, especially how she looked in that red dress. When she says she’s tired and ready for bed, he wants to come with. She pleads Jessica being there and being really tired. [I think she’s getting really tired of Chente.]

La Suerte de Loli - #62 – Parte 2 de 3

I think Loli and Rafa are somehow still at the event, in a hallway or something. She tells him she came to the gala because she wanted to talk with him about something. She says she’s confused about whether their relationship is right. Rafa is not happy and leaves her there. But she follows him and throws herself into his arms, while their theme song plays. Kiss. Kiss.

Mati is telling Arturo about agreeing to foster Gabe and Christi. He is not happy and more or less orders Mati to call and cancel the weekend visit. He doesn’t care how Mati does it; just fix it.

Cesar comes home but Rox, in bed already, tells him to sleep on the sofa.

The next day Rafi and Loli are smooching in the supply room at GR when first Lupe and then Salvador try to get into the room. They eventually come out, looking guilty and holding some stationery supplies as a cover for being in there.

Rogelio tells Rufino he wants to retire and also that he needs Rufino to (I think) refer an attorney. He needs to add someone to his will, someone he trusts completely.

Lupe is online looking at houses when Bruno approaches. She insults him some and then tells him more or less that the truth will out when his paycheck arrives by mail at his house.

Loli has a talk with Salvador. This is a good scene. She tells him that, despite how much he hurt her 10 years ago, she needs to thank him now. If he hadn’t re-appeared, she would not have been so clear about what she wants. She apologizes if she confused him with the mixed messages at first. But she knows that they were never on the same path. She says that, from her heart, she hopes he’ll find that woman he’s looking for…someone free, like he’s free.

Sal asks if she has found that person. She replies that she’s found herself. Sal: “Well, then you found a great woman, one that I love as much as my freedom. I’m sure you’ll find the man that you deserve so much.” They agree to be friends and he’ll continue working at GR.

Mati brings Gabriel and Christi home and introduces them to Art. He tells Art that they’re spending the weekend, with or without him.

Nicky, Octavio and Domingo are talking together about Nicky going to do a dance. Not sure if this is a school thing or if he’s going to be one of the acts at Hunky Bar! Saint Octavio notices Domingo’s hands shaking. Domingo says he gets this when he doesn’t use cards. Octavio says he’ll take him to a therapist.

La Suerte de Loli - #62 – Parte 3 de 3

Melissa calls Bruno at work to tell him his paycheck has arrived. Lupe gets a laugh out of this. Bruno panics, telling her they need to open it together, as a celebration.

Selma confuses Gabriel and Christi with her own children. [Selma! Gabriel is MUCH better looking than Arturo.]

Pau is on the phone with Angie complaining about the style and size of her logo on the festival poster. She has a lot of other suggestions. Chente arrives and has discovered her sponsorship of GR’s music festival. He wants to know if she did it for Rafa. She gets right in his face and says she’ll do what she likes with her money. “Can you live with this or are you going to fire me (as President of Nova)? Or sue me for breach of contract?”

Loli comes home and finds Octavio and Domingo together. Nicky comes downstairs in an ill-fitting suit made for him by Divina. It’s neon blue!

We move to the “family dinner” at Mati and Art’s place. Selma thinks Christi is her daughter and tells her not to chew with her mouth full. Gabriel, trying to make conversation at an awkward dinner, compliments Art on the décor. Art actually warms up one or two degrees.

Paulina tells Vicente she agreed to sponsor the music festival before signing her contract with Nova.

Rogelio is in his GR office speaking on the phone with Domingo. He tells Domingo it’s not limosnas (charity, alms). He’s talking about justice. “It’s right to include Loli in my will. And I’m giving her a lot of acciones en la empresa (shares in the company). He’s blindado por el future (shielded for the future; kind of an odd way to say it). We hear Domingo saying that Rogelio solves all his problems with money, but he should be careful in irte de jeta con mí Loli (be face to face with Loli).

Rogelio: “I didn’t do it before, and I’m not going to do it now. We have to decide this between the two of us (Domingo and Rogelio have to decide). It’s time that Loli knows that I’m her father!”

Rafa walks in and hears this.

Many thanks, novelera, for this excellent and very helpful recap. And yes, you certainly got far more than your share of Cowardly Idiot and Mercenary Idiot (aka Bruno and Melissa). Special thanks for taking one for the team!

I ranted yesterday about how infuriating I find Bruno and Melissa. I doubt I could have recapped this episode without putting in language inappropriate for the patio. You cite one perfect example of what drives me crazy about Bruno: an ecstatic Melissa greets her exhausted husband with the news that she got her engagement ring out of pawn, and instead of warning her that they can't afford this, he cheerily tells her to buy back everything else that she has pawned. I think you were generous to refer to him merely as a nut case.

Wow, Paulina is definitely insisting from the start on her independence. She more or less admits that she had an ulterior motive in giving GR the $2 million for the festival, and she tells Vicente that how she spends her money is none of his business (no es asunto tuyo). Apparently she'd rather break off with him unless she can marry him on her terms. I think she's still hoping somehow to get Rafa back.

I found a couple of Don Rogelio's statements in this episode a bit puzzling. First is his telling Rufino he's looking for a lawyer. Huh? I would have thought that as a wealthy man and the head of GR, Don R would know several lawyers he could trust with the change he wants to make to his will. I also would have thought that by now he'd recognize that Rufino is not a person he should confide in. I was also somewhat unclear about the phone discussion at the end with Domingo. Actually, I was a little surprised that Domingo does know that Don R is Loli's bio dad. I wasn't sure, based on the scene as Roccio was dying. But what puzzles me about the current scene is Don R's first saying "I haven't told her before and I'm not going to do it now," and then, a few seconds later, saying that "it's time Loli knew that I'm her father." I at first thought that that's what he was talking about when he said he hadn't told her and wasn't going to. So is he instead talking about not telling her what he's leaving to her in his will? And is he merely increasing what he's already left her in his will?

Finally, thanks very much for the Spanish! I had been confused about blindado and the irte... expression.

I wasn't able to watch the show last night. I'm going to catch up later this afternoon.

Now here is a recap we can all LOVE novelera! Such great insight and descriptions, thank you!

I appreciate you taking one for the team in going through the Bruno/Mel/Carol locura, even Lupe looked sane next to these three!

I think Rafa and Loli were in Loli’s apartment. This is the place I think Mati should move in to and foster Gabe and Christi. I have never been an Art fan and he continues to be a very selfish person in my opinion.

I have no idea what Paulina is trying to do. She does indeed look ready to kick Chente to the curb if necessary.

Cesar needs to stop enabling his ex. I also felt like a scene or two was left out novelera, as it appeared Rox was in a fancy outfit for the gala event. I saw this actor dressed up for the Latin Grammys, last week, she looked great!

I am also a bit confused with the discussion that Don R and Domingo were having. I was pretty sure that Domingo did indeed know who Loli’s dad really was and now we all do too! I am very curious to know why Don R kept it quiet for so long, we have never heard anything about Chente’s mom. It is funny that he and Loli are siblings!

Nicky modeling the blue suit Divina made was too funny. Octavio’s laugh sounded genuine plus it was contagious and made me laugh out loud too! 😊

Thanks again novelera for always added those extra Spanish lessons!

dondi356, I really enjoyed the article too! Thank you!

Loli

Thanks, novelera, for taking one for the team. I needed your recap to help make some sense of this ep but I’m beginning to think it’s impossible to make any sense of this show.

I am glad that Loli finally told Sal and he finally accepted it’s over.

Why is Octavio’s family drama happening off camera? Is this going anywhere?

How long is Rafa going to keep Don R’s secret?

I’m scheduled to do the recap tonight but I’m getting spotty reception of Telemundo today. I might have to wait for the ep to be posted online tomorrow and that means the recap will be late.

dondi356

Thanks for the kind remarks! I was thinking they put in Rogelio asking Rufino for a legal contact to change his will was so that it would get back to Chente, who I'd enjoy seeing going purple with rage. Doesn't sound like he's disinheriting Vicente; but, if he adds Loli there's less of a pie to split up. And, yes, other than what I just wrote, I can't imagine why Rogelio wouldn't have a lot of lawyers on speed dial, including the one who wrote his will in the first place.

loli

dondi356, your recaps are well worth the wait. Don't fret.

novelera, I love your idea that Don R is talking to Rufino so that Don R's intentions will get back to Chente!

Loli #63 part 1

You heard my conversation, Don R asks? That’s not the point, Rafa replies. Don R shuts the door. Yep, it’s true, he tells Rafa, but Loli doesn’t know. Rafa asks if Domingo knows. Yes, we are the only ones, Rogelio replies. Rafa is floored. He says Loli has looked to you as a mentor all these years. Do you know what this means? Yes, and that’s why Rogelio is getting his affairs in order before leaving the radio station.

Rafa has a horrifying thought, Vicente and Loli are siblings. When will you tell them? Rogelio will take care of that and he asks Rafa to keep quiet. This is not a secret Rafa wants to keep but he will. Rogelio gives his word he will reveal all soon. Rafa gets a text from Loli and he shows Rogelio. Rafa is upset, he tells Rogelio, I don’t want to be your accomplice. Please tell her ASAP. He leaves.

Rafa sits in his office and tries to process this revelation. Loli is Rogelio’s daughter and Vicente’s sister. He mentions Star Wars [lol]. Loli calls him. I won’t say anything, Rafa readies himself. Loli asks when will they see each other. Rafa says he’s stuck at work so tonight won’t happen. Loli gets cute, I can come help you, we can fix the storage door… Rafa would love to “fix the door” but he can’t. He closes the call quickly with some ridiculous stuff about the kids and eating vegetables and whatever. Loli’s puzzled.

That night she talks to Mari about Rafa. She wanted to see him but the poor thing is working so hard. She can’t stop thinking about Rafa, she’s crazy about him. She plays a video. Mari says, I would love to see you in love, with a partner. I know you enjoy being free, but wouldn’t you like to sleep with your arms wrapped around him all warm and cozy? Loli would rather he put out her fire. Mari continues, when you find Mr. Right, go for it. Let yourself fall in love and let yourself be loved. Mari says, I haven’t been lucky, but you are going to be a different story. Nora knocks at the door. Someone is here to see you, she says. Nora looks serious.

Bruno comes home and immediately looks through the mail. Mel says, are you looking for this? She waves the paycheck. She’s so excited. It’s time to find out. Bruno tries to manage her expectations. Lupe said there was a problem with the payroll and this might not be correct. Carol comes running in and thanks her dad for buying her a car. Mel is surprised, you bought a car without me? Bruno clears this up. Don R gave me the keys to his car.

The two idiots jump to conclusions. Carol shouts, my new grandpa gave me a car?! They don’t give Bruno a chance to speak and run out see the car. Mel says the best part is they didn’t have to pay a cent. He follows them out.

Dinner at Pau’s and Joaquin is the guest. They are laughing and having a good time. Then Vic shows up. Pau didn’t expect him so early. The kids leave the table so the adults can talk. Vic asks if Jess will ever like him or at least respect him. Pau doesn’t know. Not if he keeps treating everything like business. She offers him salad but he takes some water. Things are chilly between them.

Sal is Loli’s visitor. He has brought a TV to replace the one Nicky broke. He also has something to tell her. He submitted his resignation to Don R. Why? What about the festival? Don’t go, she says. Let’s not kid ourselves, he tells her, I came to Global to be close to you.

dondi356

Loli #63 part 2

I wished I could be by your side, but that won’t happen, Sal says. I wanted the chance to make up for what happened 10 years ago. It was selfish and you deserve more. We have to live with what was and what never was. Loli doesn’t know what to say. He thanks her. He has to find himself like she found herself. What’s your plan, she asks? He doesn’t have one. He’s teary, he knows whatever it is, he has to be far from her. He takes her face in his hands and wishes her all the happiness and luck in the world. He gives her a big hug. He goes. [please let this be for good]

Bruno’s idiots admire the “new” car. Mel hops in, she wants the keys. [I hate these people] Carol hops in the passenger seat. Carol wants her mom to teach her to drive. No, no, no, Bruno says, not in this car! Let’s go inside, he says. Mel grabs the paycheck and starts the car. Bruno jumps in the back seat.

Cesar and Rox have a candlelit dinner. Rox tells him if you think candles, flower and wine will get my forgiveness, you’re wrong. But the dinner is delicious and Rox says, why do I always forgive you so quickly? He explains how he cooks the meat and tells her that it’s like a good relationship, it takes attention, care and love and above all, fire. Seems like a romantic moment until she tells him in her Rox-y way, stop screwing up, dummy! I’m warning you. He promises. He gets a call from Dulce. He doesn’t answer. He doesn’t want anything to interrupt their special night.

Dulce leaves her message. You said you were going to the ATM. What happened?
Mati is helping Gabriel and Christi settle in. He suggests a movie. Christi says no. Mati says he will make something to eat. Gabe says he will help, come on Christi. Christi says she’s staying put. Gabe says not to mind her. Art comes in. Christi tells him, I don’t bite. Just a joke she says, do you want to sit? No, he’s just getting water. He knows she doesn’t bite. She knows he didn’t want them here. Relax, she says, we’ll be gone in a couple days. He walks away.

Loli shows up at Rafa’s with a bottle of wine. He’s making excuses but she starts kissing him.

Pau wants to go shopping with Jess. She begs off. Are you going to see your dad, she asks. No, Jess hasn’t heard from him. He must be busy. [he’s busy alright] She’s going to visit Sam. She asks her mom about her plans with Vicente. Oh, she’s got some super fun planned with him, she jokes.

Pau calls Rafa and leaves a message. She’s calling about Sam’s thing. It’s not important. Call whenever.

Rafa and Loli make love. Afterwards, Loli says that Rafa has been acting strange. What is it? Loli mentions her father and Rafa is on pins and needles. She tells him that Domingo isn’t her father. He tries to play it cool, no way… she explains what Dom told her and how she felt. Are you ok, Rafa asks. What can I do, she replies. She says she’s like Nicky now, without a father. Rafa asks if she knows who her father is. No. She just wants to have some fun right now. Let’s open the wine.

Gabe watches his sister sleep. He texts Octavio. “What’s up. Everything is fine here.” Octavio texts back, “I’m happy for you. Behave and eat your veggies. “ Mati comes in. He has some ideas for what they can do today. It all sound awesome to Gabe but he’d like to go see Sam. Mati thinks that’s great and he will take him.

Christi wakes up. She says she thought she was dreaming. We are together. Brother and sister hug and Mati smiles. Art comes in. Mati smiles at him but Art isn’t smiling.

dondi356

Loli #63 part 3

Tomas wakes Rox. Where’s your dad, she asks. He licks all over her face. [Maybe she tastes like last night’s dinner?] She calls Cesar and jumps out of bed. Cesar's on the phone with Dulce. He’s helped her once and that’s it. Rox walks in on the call and listens. Find one online, Cesar says or steal one from another restaurant. But be nice to them so they don’t quit and you don’t call me again. Rox thinks Cesar is cheating on her!

Domingo comes to Hunky Bar. Domingo meets Divina. She greets him with kisses. Poor guy doesn’t know what to think. Octavio tells Dom, Divina doesn’t bite. She only bites boys who aren’t nice to her and sometimes those who are nice, depending on the situation.
Divina tells Octavio the electricians are here and Octavio leaves Divina and Dom alone. Dom is very nervous. He complements Divina’s hair. She tells him the hair and the boobies aren’t real, but they do look natural. She moves in, do you want to touch them? Dom is horrified.

Mel can’t resist and tries to open the paycheck. Carol interrupts and she throws the envelope backwards. Carol tells her she dreamed of driving her car and wearing her class ring, it was perfect. Carol brings up the driving lessons again. Mel is reluctant. She’s not the best driver and she doesn’t want Bruno to get upset. Carol flatters her mother into giving her lessons. Let’s go.

Cesar wants to make plans for the day but Rox tells him she’s taking Tomas to the dog spa. Cesar asks, I’m not invited? Rox says she thought he had a better way of spending his Saturday. Cesar wants to know what’s going on. She leaves with Tomas.

Sam thinks Nora is knocking at her door but it’s Mati. She gives him a hug. Gabe and Christi walk in. She’s so happy to see them. Sam asks how Mati is treating them. Great, Gabe says, both Mati and Art are great. Sam asks if Arturo will teach them to paddleboard. Christi is surprised to learn Art paddle boards. [I guess that means he will teach her eventually] Christi has brought Sam a gift of a water globe so she can look at the ocean without leaving her room.

Dom looks unwell. He’s fanning himself with his hat. Octavio comes back. Dom tries to get up and he gets dizzy. He asks to go home. He tells Divina it was nice to meet her, and Octavio helps him out.

Domingo now home and is resting on the couch. Loli comes with Rafa and she rushes to Dom. Octavio says the doctor came and gave Dom a sedative. The doctor called it Gambling Withdrawal Syndrome. He had extreme anxiety and a twitch in his hand. Nora and Rogelio come. What happened? Rafa says it was a panic attack. While the others worry over Dom, Rafa tells Rogelio, we know what’s going on here. You should tell her the truth. Don R nods.

We knew this would happen. Carol and Mel had an accident with Don R’s car. Bruno walks in and hears. What? You crashed Rogelio’s car? The two idiots blame each other. Relax, it’s just a scratch, Mel says. Bruno runs to check the damage.

Octavio and Rafa talk. Octavio knew Dom didn’t look well and he told him he gets anxious when he doesn’t gamble. Rafa thought Dom was in counseling. Octavio says don’t tell Loli, her father wasn’t going. Octavio was willing to take him. He senses there was something else that was bothering him, too.

Octavio asks Rafa if he is dating Loli because they showed up together. We were working, he replies. On a Saturday? Yes, you’re not the only one who works on a Saturday, Rafa says.

Bruno talks to Rogelio’s car. He will have him fixed up better than new. It hurts me more than it hurts you , he says. Don’t tell Rogelio anything. Mel and Carol come out he reprimands them, not enough to my liking. Mel says at least she didn’t open the envelope. She has the paycheck stuck in her cleavage and she gives it to Bruno. And I’ve had just about enough of this awful family.

dondi356

Loli #63 part 4

Dom wakes up and Loli rushes to him. She was scared. Maybe he should go back to rehab. He doesn’t want to go but he doesn’t want to cause her problems either. Dom tells Loli that Octavio is a good guy, he stayed with him all day. Loli and Octavio help Dom up to his room. Rafa asks Nora if he can speak with Rogelio alone, it’s about work. On a Saturday? Yes. She leaves them.

Rogelio knows what Rafa’s going to say. Domingo’s not well, Loli is worried and I’m not comfortable keeping this secret Rafa tells him. Please, please tell her the truth, he begs.

Pau is getting ready to meet Vic at the theater when he shows up. Vic mentions how things have been stressful, maybe they deserve a break. And he doesn’t mean tonight or the benefit gala. Maybe they can go on a trip? Pau laughs. You just launched your station and you want to travel? So what, he says, I’m the owner and you’re the president. Let me get ready, she says, and we will talk about it later, okay? Pau hands him some reading material. His eyes bug out. It’s a prenup!

Pau tells him don’t read or sign now. Just look it over later. She has no ulterior motives and she doesn’t need his money. She’s Paulina Castro. He reminds her he is Vicente Varela, sole heir of the Varela empire [uh,oh] and shareholder in Global and Nova. If anyone needs a prenup, it’s him. Exactly, Pau says, it would be terrible if two rich people fought over money. He’s ticked. My lawyers will contact your lawyers, he says. She’s ready to go.

Bruno tries to fix Don R’s car with a plunger. Lupe calls him. Did you take Don R’s car to the shop? Yes, they are looking at it. She tells him the car better be ready by Monday. Mel and Carol come out and I can’t, FF>>>> if you want to talk about it, discuss.

Rox returns from dog spa day. Cesar gets a text. He tells Rox, remember my friend who was opening a restaurant, I’m going to go help him for a bit. Rox says she will change and go with. No, he says, they aren’t opening today. Huh? Why are you going? He says yes, but no, he’s helping with salsas, he struggles for an answer that sounds good. It’s obvious to Rox, he’s hiding something. Dulce texts him again “are you coming?” He’s gotta go, he will talk to her later. He goes to kiss her, and she turns away. She tells Tomas, your father is lying to me!

Rogelio understands Rafa but this isn’t the time. When will it be time, Rafa asks, it’s been 30 years. Are you scared? It’s not that simple, Rogelio replies. No, but put yourself in Loli’s place, Rafa says. With everything that’s going on, you have to tell her you are her father. And Loli walks right in on that. I beg your pardon, she says, did I hear correctly? You said “tell her you’re her father?” Rogelio says, I am your father.

And we are out.

loli

I have a lot to say, but about 70% of the time before I post it someone else has posted the exact same insights!

Fantastic recap, dondi. And ITA on all your asides. Especially: "Mel and Carol come out and I can't..." I suppose these "writers" (the quotes are because of all the illogical crap they constantly come up with) think that Bruno and his dysfunctional family are funny. Not to me. In a way it reminds me of when my son was little and moving around in a strange environment. Just waiting for the disaster!

When I said that Don R. telling Rufino might let the cat out of the bag about the changed will, I did not mean he meant for that to happen. Rogelio appears to really love his son; he just sees him for who he is. It's just another example of the stupid things these characters do over and over. And, yes, Chente's comments about how much of his father's empire he owns is definitely foreshadowing

I won't miss Salvador, but what will the station do to replace his program when the fans of El Renegado stop listening. And wasn't he supposed to be lining up all the talent for the music festival?

Another of the writers' tics gets on my nerves. Rox is constantly getting angry at Cesar, but she's portrayed as such a glutton that she forgives him after one bite of one of his creations. ¡Ya basta!

That was one hot love scene with Rafa and Loli. Very convincing. And these two definitely deserved it.

Christi is such a brat sometimes. I suppose we're meant to infer that Gabe might have been equally feral except for his time with Octavio softening him up.

Paulina does want Rafael back. I think she was sincere earlier on about wanting to be with Vicente. Apparently they have some chemistry although I'm glad we're spared any sex scenes. I think the only person Pau really loves is Jess. She may have figured out what a snake she's about to literally get into bed with and is hedging her bets. Or it may be that she just can't stand to let Loli win.

I love Divina and she came up with a great double entendre last night about biting the good boys.

Yes, the two really annoying things in the novela now are Bruno's inability to say No to his grasping wife and daughter and Cesar continuing to let Dulce ruin his relationship with Rox.

loli

What a wonderful recap, dondi356! It was a delight. can't think of a thing you left out, except mercifully on purpose. ¡Muchísimas gracias!

I loved your asides, starting with "[please let this be for good]" when Sal said goodbye to Loli. I said almost exactly the same thing as I was watching the episode. I'm still nervous that with so many episodes to go, we haven't heard the last from Sal.

Nor, alas, have we heard the last from the Idiot Family. After you covered some of their ridiculous behavior, you commented "And I’ve had just about enough of this awful family." As far as I'm concerned, I heard more than enough from them even before the episode started. Bruno has clearly lost the pair of avocados he managed to grow several weeks ago. Not even the pits remain. Though he knows he shouldn't, he makes it possible for incompetent Melissa to drive Don R's car, and then for Mel to teach her golddigger daughter (GDD) how (not) to drive. And after Braindead Bruno (BB) tries to fix the dent with a plunger (!), and after GDD surprisingly offers not to get a class ring so he can pay for the damages, BB assures GDD that of course, she can have a class ring. Arrgh!!

Perhaps the worst thing about Birdbrain Bruno is that apparently his stupidity and cowardice are contagious. Why why why did Cesar agree to help Dulce? And having done so once, why was he about to do so again?

I do have one question about the scene between Cesar and Rox where he's on the phone with Dulce and Rox thinks he's cheating on her. I simply don't understand what gave her that impression. I can't point to anything in what he said to Dulce that could be misinterpreted. I thought perhaps I missed something (it's been known to happen :-) ), but nothing in your recap seems to be incriminating, either. (It didn't seem clear from Cesar's end of the phone call that he's about to see Dulce.)

For me, the best scene in last night's episode is when Pau hands Vicente a prenup to read and sign. She was damn smart to do so, and I loved how calm and cool she was when she handed it to him. And, of course, I snickered when Vicente replied indignantly that he was "the sole heir of the Varela empire!" Oops.

Juanita, you're right that nothing Cesar said was particularly incriminating. It's just that the writers are hell-bent on having Rox act out. I can't remember every detail, but it seemed to me he might have been evasive more than once when she asked him what the calls were about. That's enough to have her, as always, jump to conclusions.

Why Cesar doesn't just tell her he's been cooking for his old restaurant and ask for her help in saying no to Dulce falls into the same black hole as why Bruno can never tell Melissa the truth about anything. I wouldn't shed a tear if they lost their house for not making mortgage payments.

Bruno was so close to actually parenting Carol, but he blew it in a most Bruno-like manner. The lack of honesty between him and Mel is irritating. I just hope Carol gets a lot of Instatiktoktube followers because her parents aren't giving her much else to work with. I do look forward to her and Mel finding out that they're poor. That'll be fun!

At least Cristi has an excuse for being a brat (I assume she's younger than Carol). Arturo may be a stick-in-the-mud, but he'll be good for these two if he ever forgives Mati. Which he will, because telenovela. But I take his side in being annoyed that Mati brought these kids to the home. Even though we know he's wrong (by telenovela rules), that shouldn't have been a unilateral decision. I'm ok with him, and he's still one of the good guys.

On the other hand, is Sal really gone for good? Seems like there should be a catch there somewhere. Like maybe he finds out Luke and Leia are related and comes back? But I hope he stays away. Leaves more time for us to enjoy Vicente finding out he's not the only heir. Hahahahaha suck it, Chente.

Whatever happened to the court case re Loli's guardianship of Nicky and Sam???

Y'all's recaps are awesome and I don't have to put up with watching Bruno and gang.

Happy Sunday all! How fun to see all these great comments for your super-duper recap dondi356! I am perfectly fine excluding many of the dumb Mel/Bruno/Carol scenes in the recaps, so thank you!

I don’t have too much to add to all the other insightful comments from novelera, Juanita, Kelly, Victoria and HALIMACANDY.

Victoria, the court case for custody is still on the horizon for Loli. I think we are waiting for the DNA results from Lupillo, Sam’s “supposed” dad. Loli has proven herself as a good mom, Norita isn’t going to fight her for custody, so hopefully that will all go well.

HALIMACANDY, Karen was pulled to the dark side by Vicente and when she realized her mistake, she made a graceful exit.

I hope Loli can understand and forgive both Domingo and Rogelio. They all need to unite against the evil Chente. Paulina sure was smooth with that prenup!

Juanita, I had to laugh with the Bruno avocados not even being pits! 😊 that reference just doesn’t get old (at least for me).

I hope grumpy Art can work with Mati to help out Gabe and Christi. He and Christi are just as grumpy so that might help. The morning scene with Christi waking to what she thought was a dream was just beautiful.

For me, I need more Hunky Bar storylines, drop the Mel/Bruno crap and focus on these guys for some entertainment!

Great, insightful comments, everyone! Thanks so much!

I thought this ep wasn’t too bad. Bruno & fam are the exception. No Lupe sighting, only a brief phone call to Bruno. I can’t even stand to see this woman’s face.

Love in the time of Coronavirus: novelera, that certainly was a spicy Loli-Rafa love scene! When was the last time we saw something like that? Great point: “It's just that the writers are hell-bent on having Rox act out.” Why, why, why? They are ruining this character and a potentially great storyline.

Juanita, thanks for filling more details on Braindead Bruno and his Idiots. You were brave to do it. LOL— "Bruno has clearly lost the pair of avocados he managed to grow several weeks ago. Not even the pits remain.” Yes, VVS, the avocado jokes don’t spoil.

I’ll agree with Kelly about Arturo. He’s within the realm of redemption. I can see Art and Christi bonding.

Halimacandy, I like Jeimy Osorio a lot, but I’m glad she was freed from her mess of a story.

Victoria, I also want to see Loli with Octavio. He would be a great dad for Mari’s kids.
Can’t figure Pau. Is she supposed to be good or bad now? The prenup was a brilliant move.

We will all enjoy watching Vicente get his comeuppance.
