Thank you Deb for the link and update to the novelas coming soon. Definitely will watch Café Con Aroma de Mujer. If dondi356 does the recapping for Hercai, I might even try my first Turkish novela.
Part 1
We return to Loli and Rafa both midway in their very important discovery calls. Loli is listening to the venomous Chente informing her that their “papa” has put both Sam and Nicky in his living will. Loli is dumbfounded by this news and Chente tells her not to play the stupid card. He demands to know what she did to brainwash Don Rogelio. He also informs her that he is not going to just sit back and let his dad throw away “Chente’s” money. He ends the call after his rant.
Rafa is talking to Gonzalo the sometimes marriage counselor/attorney. He has found that Nicky’s DNA dad, Raul Acuña is on death row, scheduled to be executed in a week.
Loli tells Rafa what Vicente shared. Rafa wants to know if Chente was excluded from the will (I want to know that detail too, it wasn’t very clear) Loli cannot understand why Don R is doing this. Rafa tells her that she needs to think about this as security for the kid future. Loli is very uncertain about how to feel, what to do and who to trust.
Rafa then lets the daddy bomb off before Loli can even assimilate the convo with Chente. She can’t believe that Octavio lied to her, but Rafa immediately corrects that Octavio only believed what Apolo told him. Rafa says he never believed the “got run over by a steamroller story” and did some investigation. Nicky’s dad is in jail for murder, but Rafa insists he must be innocent and that they need to go talk to him. (I have no idea why Rafa feels this guy is innocent right from the get go).
Loli again is overwhelmed by this new life-changing news and doesn’t know what she should do. Rafa backs off for a minute and says he will do whatever she thinks is best for Nicky regarding Acuña. Loli says she had no idea what is best for anyone, including herself.
The mean girls, Paulina and Angie are drinking wine as Paulina shows Angie a list of all the bad things Loli has done since she met her. Angie feels that it is a bit overboard to head down this path, but the vindictive Paulina says that Loli destroyed the small expectation of saving her marriage with Rafa. Angie reminds her that she was indeed sleeping with Rafa’s best friend and is now marrying him so why does she care? Paulina states that the millionth time, she is only marrying Chente to improve both of their professional images. She claims that everyone will forgive anything if a marriage is involved because it proves the love is serious and not just an affair. She will go from Paulina the Suffering to Paulina the Exciting and Triumphant! (I say she is Paulina the Self-Centered and Evil). Angie tells her that going down this pathway to destroy Loli, Pau is playing with fire. Pauline states: Who says I don’t love Fire? (hope you enjoy Hades, girl on fire). Later in the episode, Angie finds out that Loli never visited Domingo in the rehab center he was in. According to the mean girls, this proves what a horrible person Loli is.
Part 2
Very quickly: As predicted by several of you on the patio, Gema the mooch, doesn’t have a penny to her name and of course Melissa makes the offer to allow her and the baby Melissa to stay as long as they need to since Bruno is an executive making a ton of money. The baby cries constantly and is only quieted by the stolen car’s La Cucaracha horn that keeps blaring almost non-stop. (Please make this story line stop!). Gema makes herself way too much at home, ignores the baby and demands that Melissa or Carol change the baby’s smelly diaper while she sits on the couch eating popcorn and surfing on her phone. Of course, Marcelino doesn’t answer anyone’s calls.
Also very quickly: Rox and Dulce continue their conversation after Dulce’s big reveal about being pregnant. She explains that it happened before Cesar left her and she has no plans to tells him. Rox says that Cesar needs to know, deserves to know. She angsts about how she feels about the whole situation saying she really cares about Cesar, but she understands now why Dulce asked him to come help at the restaurant. Rox says it can’t be easy for Dulce, especially pregnant. (the surprised look on Dulce’s face says otherwise). Dulce thanks Rox for not be angry with her. Rox says she has to leave to think about everything, but ultimately the baby is most important. As she leaves, Dulce has a sly, interesting look of success on her face.
The next day, Rox and Cesar are having breakfast. Rox asks him if he has thought about have a real child and not just Tomas the dog. Cesar says that he never thought to have children but it is something she and he could discuss if she wanted kids. Rox springs from the table, claiming to have to go to work. Cesar thinks that Rox does indeed want kids. Rox ends up back a the restaurant telling Dulce that she is willing to help out, cutting onions or whatever to make the pregnancy easier on Dulce but Cesar cannot know Rox is there helping her. Dulce looks concerned. (liars usually do).
One more quickie: At Mati and Art’s, Mati is teleworking taking care of Selma. Jack comes over to pick up a couple of books he forgot. Jack apologizes for leaving so abruptly. Mati interrupts and says it fine and what happened between them was a mistake. Jack touches Mati’s face and says he does not think the same way. Just at that moment, Selma walks in and asks “are you messing around on your husband, my son, Arturo?’ To a stunned Mati, she says, that is not right. Later that evening, Art comes home from work. He and Mati hug and kiss. Mati tells him that Selma had a good day. Selma comes into the room and tells Art that she needs to tell him something very serious and delicate about Mati. Art looks surprised, Mati looks terrified.
Part 3
Rafa is searching the internet regarding the trial of Raul Acuña. He was arrested, tried and convicted after the homeowner whose husband was shot and killed during a burglary attempt identified him as the killer. Apparently, Raul was working as a gardener a few houses down during the incident. Without proof of a murder weapon and a very quick trial, Raul was sentenced with the death penalty. Rafa calls Loli and tells her that he thinks Raul might be innocent!
Octavio and his lawyer are meeting to discuss another attempt to gain custody of Gabriel and Christi. The lawyer says it is an effort in futility, but Octavio (kind hearted, stubborn soul that he is) says he doesn’t care what they need to do or how much it will cost, get it done! Loli calls him and asks if he can talk. He explains he is with his lawyer, she says, are you going to sue me for breaking your nose? He tells her that he refuses to allow anyone else to foster or adopt Gabe and Christe. Loli tells him she is calling about Nicky’s DNA dad.
Of course, Octavio is surprised and angry to learn that Apolo lied to him. Loli informs him that she and Rafa are going to meeting with an attorney to find out more about the situation but she wanted him to know as Octavio is an integral part of Nicky’s life. Octavio hangs up with Loli and looks absolutely stunned.
Gonzalo has managed to get a copy of Raul’s trial file and is reviewing it with Loli and Rafa. He says there are many irregularities in the case especially the fact that no weapon was ever found and there was only one witness, the very upset wife of the dead homeowner. The wife initially identified the killer as a short, dark-haired guy, but the picture of Raul shows a blonde, tall (very handsome) guy (who Nicky looks exactly like. Dang!! There go our Octavio hopes out the window!) who she later identified as the killer.
Both Rafa and Loli want to speak to the judge but Gonzo says it is too late for that. Loli says so what, now we just have to get on it and investigate? A silent look between she and Rafa indicate that yes, that is exactly what will happen.
Paulina is on the phone with Angie attempting to stalk Rafa, Angie informs her that Rafa has not been in the office all day long. Paulina tells her that she gets very jealous when she can’t find him. Chente walks over and overhears the jealous part, Paulina plays if off as if she were speaking with a conference organizer. She hangs up and lies to Chente that she is being contracted to conduct a seminar on “jealousy” in San Francisco. He thinks it is a splendid idea and wants to travel with her for a mini break. He walks away as Pauline tries to figure out where she is going to find a conference sponsor. Wheels turning, she calls Rafa’s cell phone. He responds, telling her he can’t talk because he is about to board a plane, claiming to be working for Global Radio (isn’t this guy the President responsible for the upcoming festival?) Not to be ignored, Pau calls Loli’s cell. Instead of allowing it to go to voicemail, Loli answers saying she doesn’t have time to talk and will call her back. It is not hard for Paulina to discern that these two are together.
Part 4
After a quick flight, we are at San Quentin prison. Gonzalo has apparently been able to secure a visit with Raul for Loli and Rafa. Gonzo explains that he is indeed an attorney and not to be confused with a marriage counselor. Gonzo tells Raul that he has reviewed his case and found many irregularities. Raul says that other lawyers have also been interested in his case, but his is going to be killed in a week anyway, so it doesn’t matter anymore. Rafa tells him that they believe he is innocent and was unjustly convicted. Raul says that the justice system is not just and this happens a lot and why do they care anyway?
Loli askes him if he is sperm donor #whatever? She rambles on to say that her best friend chose him to be the DNA donor of her son Nicky. Now that Loli sees him in person, she can tell that he is indeed Nicky’s dad, as Nicky looks just like him. Raul confirms that he must have a lot of kids running around out there because he was indeed a sperm donor. He says how crazy that I am going to be killed in a week and now I have a kid who wants to meet me. Loli, very beautifully explains that Nicky isn’t just some kid. She highlights Nicky’s wonderful qualities (that we all have grown to love). After her Nicky story, Raul seems very moved and says to tell Nicky that he would have loved to meet him but it is too late. Rafa says, if Raul will allow them to help him, it may not be too late and he could meet Nicky. (I was crying through most of this scene so please add any details I missed).
Octavio and Apolo have that conversation I was dreading all episode. Apolo claims that he lied about Raul being dead to protect Octavio. Apolo says that he knows Octavio so well that certainly he would have taken Nicky by the hand to the prison to introduce him to his DNA dad. Apolo claimed it was better for all to allow everyone to think that Raul was dead, but thanks to Rafa that is no longer the case.
Octavio visibly upset and hurt by Apolo’s deception, telling him that he crossed well over the line. Apolo almost sneers and says so what, now you are going to punish me? Without missing a beat, Octavio tells Apolo he is fired. Apolo is stunned and angry, claiming that after all they have been through suddenly a woman comes between them and changes everything! Octavio tells him that he has heard and learned nothing about the gravity of this situation. The realization hits Apolo that he has indeed been fired. Octavio tells him to take his things and leave immediately.
Apolo with all his gear says good bye to the Romeo, Adan and Divina. None of them can believe what has happened to change things so drastically. Apolo blames it on “women” and doesn’t tell the truth about lying. Adan and Romeo later try to talk to Octavio about who will help them put together the choreography and show line up now that Apolo is gone. Octavio assures them that he is more than capable of handling all those details. Domingo walks in, hears that Apolo is gone and is hired on the spot by Octavio.
Part 5
Don R and Rufino are discussing the slip in Global Radio stock, Rufino blames Loli and Don R defends her. Rufino claims he wants to know who is behind all of this just as much as Don R. Loli shows up and Rufino (satan’s little helper) leaves. Loli wants to understand what Don R is trying to accomplish by putting the kids in his will? He says he is trying to right his wrongs. She tells him that she just can’t accept him throwing money at problems. He agrees and says what he did all these years made him a coward. She begs him to understand that the kids are not just objects to buy. He really should try to get know them for who they really are. He agrees. (This was another beautiful conversation that I just didn’t have time to do justice with).
Pauline, satan’s mistress, is autographing a book to her biggest fan, the nosy nellie social worker (does she even have a name?). Pauline askes if everything she is about to share confidential? She is just trying to protect those kids from Loli. The social worker thanks her for the book and tells her that she is sure the judge will be very interested in what someone of Paulina’s stature has to say in this custody case!
We end this crazy episode with Loli, leaving Don R’s office in a rush, crashes into a very handsome stranger spilling his drink. After some curious questioning/flirting, Rafa comes around the corner and is surprised by the handsome stranger, introducing him to Loli as his brother, Leonardo, a stranger no longer!
Isn't Apolo a dancer/stripper? And Octavio is replacing him with Domingo? I don't get it. I think Octavio has a brain tumor. He should check out Leonardo! I was. Votes on whether Leo is a good guy (will help expose Paulina's dumb plans to get Rafa back) or bad guy (will help Pau)? I vote good. And also secretly Sam's birth father, because why not? It'd be nice if Octavio had a biological connection to the group, but he's a good person and is already family, regardless.
Kelly
Wow! VVS, your snarkiness was in fine form. Excellent recap and your asides echoed my own feelings exactly.
Sigh. I've reached the point where I just let all the craziness roll over me. It's a vain pursuit trying to figure out why these people do what they do.
Perfect description of Chente: venomous. And, how in the heck does he immediately know about the change to his father's will? And, if only the will is involved, which is what they kind of said, wouldn't Don R. have to die for Sam and Nicky to get that fine education?
For the first time ever Angie wasn't her usual suckup. She actually called Pau on her nastiness. And...how in the heck would refusing to visit a father who'd repeatedly let her down by gambling make her a bad choice for custody.
I do find the introduction of Rafa's brother interesting. Not sure where they'll go with this, but it appears he and Rafa are on good terms, judging by the embrace.
And...how would Paulina know where to find the ghastly social worker?
I was glad Octavio fired Apolo. I've been fed up with his constant hectoring of Octavio on his social life outside of the bar. And, Octavio knew exactly what was going on. Apolo wants him to be The King of the Night (remember how he goaded him into dancing that one time?) and only having the bar in his life. And it IS selfish. I just hope the dancers don't turn against him.
Domingo is not going to dance or choreograph. IIRC Octavio wants him to manage the bookkeeping and ordering of supplies, the same thing he thought Loli would be good at. We can only hope Domingo (who Divina calls Sunday) is well enough along in recovery that he doesn't embezzle money with which to gamble.
Gema...pfft! I really did enjoy that Melissa stuck her with the baby.
And Carol's behavior at the school was disgusting. She's still bent out of shape because Jess's boyfriend (sorry, forgot his name) gave Sam a big hug and pretty much ignored Carol. And, when she said she hadn't visited Sam in the hospital because of doing so much homework...well...
How in the world could Loli affect the stock prices of GR? Please, writers, come up with some really bad outcome for Rufino.
I don't think Dulce is pregnant at all. But, if she is, it would be by some other guy than Cesar.
I'm positive that the fine legal minds of Loli and Rafa, plus the divorce lawyer, are going to get Raúl off death row in one week.
Muchas gracias, VVS, for another winning recap! As always, I loved your asides, especially "(I say she is Paulina the Self-Centered and Evil)", "(hope you enjoy Hades, girl on fire)," and "(Please make this story line stop!)."
My moment of most disbelief was when Gema is sitting on the sofa and asks/orders Melissa or Carol to change the baby's smelly diaper. I can believe that Gema could say such a thing. What I cannot believe is that neither Melissa nor Carol (especially Carol) doesn't immediately tell her to get her fat, lazy ass off the couch and change it herself.
I was perplexed when I saw Raul. According to the lawyer's account, the victim's wife described the killer as a short, dark-haired guy, but apprently Raul is tall and blond. Huh? Admittedly, I was tired last night as I watched the episode, but the guy sitting at the table with the lawyer, Rafa, and Loli did not seem tall, and his hair seemed a mix of dark and gray. Is my TV playing tricks on me? Am I playing tricks on my TV?
BTW, though Rafa's interest in helping Raul seems a bit stronger than I would have expected, I don't find it strange that Rafa's learning no murder weapon was found and there was a quick trial immediately leads him to suspect that Raul is innocent. Especially in a capital murder case. (No, I'm not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV.)
Though I understand Octavio's anger at Apolo's lying to him, I think there's something to be said in favor of what Apolo did. Nicky would probably be a lot better off growing up thinking his father was a good man who died young rather than that he was a convicted murderer who was executed.
So it seems pretty clear from all her knowing smiles that Dulce is not pregnant with Cesar's child. I'm not sure whether she's pregnant at all. If she's not, what's the point of claiming she is? Just to throw a temporary monkey wrench in Cesar's relationship with Rox?
I'm almost ready to give up on Paulina's being redeemed. Right now, I'd love to see her ("Satan's mistress") and the sadistic social worker (is her name Bertha?) enjoy the fires of Hades together. Along with Vicente, of course. And Marcelino.
Thank you Kelly, novelera and Juanita for reading and commenting on the recap. Looks like we all had some outstanding questions and theories moving forward.
Kelly, I should have been clearer that Domingo was hired to do the administrative work Apolo was doing like ordering and keeping up with the distributors. I never meant that he would literally replace Apolo as a dancer, lol. I agree that Leo is a cutie and I hope he is on the good side!
novelera, I thought Rufino was “helping” Don R with the will issue so that is how Chente found out so quickly about the change. He does need a worthy demise!
Gema did need some get off your ass language from Melissa. I was hoping Carol would have just plopped that kid, messy diaper and all right into Gema’s lap. Regarding Raul’s misidentification, there was a photo of him in his file and his hair was much more blond and he did look slim and tall. The lawyer also explained that the witness couldn’t have been able to ID Raul from several house yards away.
I am a bit torn about the tiff with Octavio and Apolo. I do think Apolo should have been straight about the Raul situation and let Octavio and Loli decide what to tell Nicky. I am starting to think that novelera’s theory that Apolo is attracted to Octavio and just wanted to keep him for himself might be more realistic. I am sure they will reconcile at some point.
At this rate, the kids won't be minors and will be able to take care of themselves.
Again, as Im not watching this train wreck, I profusely thank the recappers to help me through the end.
The whole Nicky's bio Dad being is jail, probably won't be the last stupid sideline these dumbass writers put in.
I'm so glad I'm concentrating on 'Te acuerdas de mi'. It's great.
Rafa greets Leonardo, his "baby brother," warmly. He explains to Loli that Leo has lived in Spain for quite a while. Leo informs that him he's no longer in Spain, he had moved to Miami to be with his novia. But then the novia dumped him. "OK," says Rafa, "you're here because you need someplace to stay." Loli starts to leave, saying to Leo "it was a pleasure to meet you." Leo replies, "The pleasure was all mine, guapa." Loli leaves and Rafa quickly tells Leo, "She's my novia--don't mess with her."
We then see the meeting between Pauline and the insufferable Bertha. Pauline has told Bertha that Loli never went to see her father, Domingo, when he was in the rehabilitation center. Not once. Pauline then assures Bertha, "I don't want to hurt Loli. I admire her! I don't know whether I could have done what she has done, taking charge of those two kids." Fan girl Bertha claims, "Of course you could! You're Paulina Castro! You're so capable, noble, transparent." [Recapper's expletives deleted] Pauline smugly mentions her three million fans on social media.
Selma, Mati, and Arturo are at the table. Selma can't remember what she wanted to tell Art. She remembers only that it was something important. Just as Mati is feeling a bit of relief, she says she remembers. She looks at Mati and says "Jack came to see you. He came to see his novio." At first, Arturo thinks that's more sign that she's confused. Then she adds, to Mati: "He almost kissed you." Art assumes this is a sign of Selma's increasing dementia, and Mati doesn't enlighten him.
Rafa brings Leo to his office. Leo comments that it's bigger than his apartment. He asks Rafa about Global Radio.
Loli is clearly troubled by the fact that Rafa never told her he has a brother. She consults with Mariana's photo, as always. "He has a brother!! And he didn't tell me!!" We then see a flashback to a talk she had with Mariana. Mariana complains that Loli always talks about work. "Tell me about the guy you slept with yesterday." Loli asks how she knew. I could be wrong, but I think Loli said she was texting while.... She then assures Mariana that if he were more important, she'd have told Mariana about him.
Leo and Rafa are talking. Leo asks Rafa how much money he makes. Rafa doesn't respond. Leo then asks "Are you and Paulina really through? I liked her. She's very hot." Rafa assures Leo that yes, he and Paulina are getting divorced. He then observes to Leo, "You only show up when you need help." Perhaps recognizing that that's not the warmest way to greet somene, Rafa follows with "I'm glad you're here." But then, "What's your plan?" Leo tells him he has no plan, no novia, no job. "Mi casa es tu casa," Rafa assures Leo. "Welcome." Suddenly, Leo says, "What happened was an accident." "I know," says Rafa, "I was there." [At last, something important. But what? Viewerville will apparently have to wait until a later episode.]
Art tells Mati that he has visited several places that specialize in caring for Alzheimers patients. The places were attractive, but Selma would be on her own all week. Art still wants to call Jack and offer him more money to continue to work for them.
Cesar and Rox are having breakfast. Cesar says, "I lied to you. I'm working at a restaurant [long pause] of my friends." Rox replies, "I hate mild salsa and liars." She gets up and leaves. Cesar is angry with himself for lying.
Leo tells Rafa, "Maybe I'm a disaster because you always rescued me. I want to look for a job." Rafa asks whether he'd like to work at Global Radio. Leo replies, "My brother and my boss? I don't think so."
Gema is on the phone. I'm not sure who she's talking to. She tells him, "I had so much fun with you, too. I was exhausted. I needed a break." I'm assuming that it's Marcelino, but twice I thought I heard her refer to him as Papa. Is that what she calls him? Anyway, Bruno overhears her and asks whether she was talking to Marcelino. She angrily asks him "Are you trying to rub in my face the fact that he abandoned me?" Of course, I don't believe a thing she says, so it's quite possible that it is Marcelino. At any rate, Melissa assures her that no one will reject her and she can stay as long as she wants. Melissa then invites her to help make cupcakes.
As they're working on the cupcakes, Melissa says "Would you believe that my mother-in-law broke up with her millionaire boyfriend?" Gema asks, "You mean he's single?" When Melissa says he is, Gema says, "Perhaps I can help you by talking to him." (So perhaps Gema isn't so sure about Marcelino and is looking to find a more promising rich man?) At any rate, Melissa thanks Gema but tells her it's not necessary, she's hoping her magical cupcakes will do the trick.
Loli and Rafa talk about Leo. Rafa tells her that he and his brother have a complex relationship. She is clearly bothered that Rafa never mentioned that he had a brother.
Loli and Rafael are joined by Octavio, and the three discuss plans for saving Raul Acuña. Rafa reports that he has called several organizations and is meeting with two of them today about the radio campaign. Octavio has put up posters about Raul's innocence. Suddenly, Bertha arrives. She tells Loli that she heard Loli never visited her father when he was at the rehabilitation center. Loli starts to explain, but Bertha goes on about Loli's leaking private information about Don Rogelio. Loli insists she didn't do that. And what does that have to do with the custody issue? Bertha tells her that "any sign of instability is important in deciding custody cases." At this point, Rafa intervenes to say that they're working on a case of an innocent person condemned to death, and they need Loli, she's leading the effort. Bertha says OK, but she'll follow up later.
Vicente asks Paulina how she can devote herself so fully to a kid she doesn't care about? Paulina looks at him with a perplexed look on her face. She claims she does care. Vicente then tells her fine, she should focus on helping the girl. It will look good and bring lots of sponsorships. [I'm about to put Chente at the center of my dart board.]
Sam and Juaquín are with Jess when Leo arrives. Jess is surprised and thrilled to see him. she introduces him to Sam and Juaquín. Sam says, "I'm very glad to meet you, señor." Leo is disconcerted by her calling him "señor." He asks her to call him Leo. Sam tells Jess she didn't know that Jess had an uncle. Jess tells her that he lives in Spain, so we don't see him much.
Don Rogelio is at Loli's. He says he has come to spend more time getting to know Nicky and Sam. Loli says neither of them is at home now, but as long as Don R is here, she tells him about the efforts she and others are making to save an innocent man from execution. The man is Nicky's biological father. Don R tells her that Global radio is at her disposal. She tells him, "We can't let Nicky's father get that injection!" That, of course, is the signal for Nicky and Nora to enter the house. "What kind of injection does my father have to have?" asks Nicky.
Loli explains to Nicky that his father has to be vaccinated. Don R has brought some gifts for Nicky and Sam. Nicky is pleased with the hat (is it a Global Radio hat?). After he has left the room, Loli tells Rogelio "If you think you're going to win over the kids with gifts, you're wrong." Rogelio asks Loli whether she will forgive him. Loli tells him, "From what I've seen of life, I don't want to hold grudges." Don R reaches out for her hand, but she pulls away. "Give me more time."
We then see Rafa, Octavio, and Rox at work to save Raul Acuña. Rafa is meeting with people to try to get the judge to reopen the case. Octavio is giving speeches and getting signatures on a petition. Rox arranges for the Governor to be on her morning program. She tells him that an innocent man has been incarcerated for 7 years, 3 months, and 5 days, and has been sentenced to be executed. She asks the Governor what he thinks about this. "Rox, we're looking into it," he tells her. She tells him that he's on the air live, and his constituents are hearing him. She asks him to delay the execution while he's analyzing the case. "The life of Raul Acuña depends on your decision." He promises to meet with Loli Aguilar so she can fill him in on the details. Rox is delighted. Meanwhile, Rafa gets a phone call saying that they've got enough evidence to ask the judge to re-open the case.
After gaining lots of signatures on the petition, Octavio and the Hunky Bar employees return to the bar. Domingo praises Octavio. Octavio tells him it wasn't his idea, it was Rafael's. "He did some investigating, and he wasn't stupid enough to believe his best friend's lies." Romeo defends Apolo: "He messed up, but he was trying to help you, to protect you." Romeo adds, "Sometimes I think Apolo was in love with the boss." Octavio snaps at him, "What's that got to do with anything?"
Loli has left the house. Nora comes out and is surprised to see Don R still there. He tells her, "I stayed to talk to you." She tells him, "You can't ruin someone's life and make it up with gifts." He replies, "I want to be with you. I love being with you. I don't want to lose you." Nora replies, "Even if I forgive you, I can't see you as I did before." "I know," Don R replies, "but why don't I get closer...in case you do."
At Hunky Bar, inspectors suddenly arrive for an unexpected health check. Octavio asks everyone to be calm, everything is in order, there's no cause for alarm. Then he gets a text saying "Good luck with the investigation. Augustín."
Rufino is on the phone with Vicente. He tells Chente that Don R has asked him to investigate the email situation. Rogelio is sure Loli didn't do it. Vicente says it's expected that he'd take Loli's side, but the damage has been done. Rufino assures Vicente that no one knows they were the ones who did it. And idiot Bruno has no idea what was on the pen drive. Vicente tells him it's time to move ahead with Plan B. Rufino seems a little reluctant, but Vicente insists.
Leo tells Paulina that school was not his thing, especially not medical school. He's fed up with his parents always comparing him to Rafa. "My novia dropped me, I have no place to live. I thought I could make my brother's life hell." Paulina says "I know you wanted his lifestyle, his things, you even wanted me. If you want to hurt Rafa, you don't have to kiss me. Kiss Loli. She is Rafa's great weakness. If you steal her from him, he'll have nothing."
To Octavio's surprise, the health inspectors find that some of the bottles are not originals, and the methanol level is too high. They ask him, "Do you know what would happen to someone who drank this?" The instpector is keeping one of the bottles for evidence.
The Global Radio Board has apparently demanded a meeting. Don Rogelio doesn't know why. When he arrives, Vicente says that Global Radio stocks are going down, and sponsors are pulling out, and all of this is due to the report that Loli publicized. Vicente claims that people are wondering whether Don Rogelio is fit to run Global Radio. He has done crazy things like name a 16-year-old and an 8-year-old as shareholders. Don R replies angrily, "I could put my dog in my will if I want." Vicente looks pleased. "You see?" he says. "We should vote on whether you are fit to run the company. All who believe Don Rogelio is no longer fit to run the company, raise your hands." The two people we know nothing about raise their hands. After a small delay, so too does Rufino, and then Vicente. "It's unanimous," Vicente announces. "The decision is that you are no longer in charge of Global Radio by reason of being mentally unfit. I'm in charge of the Global Radio Group." Just then, Rafa and Loli arrive. "What's going on?" Rafa asks. Vicente tells him, as the episode ends.
Thank you for the great recap Juanita! I really appreciate the time you put in to translate a lot of those extended dialogues. I really loved: [I'm about to put Chente at the center of my dart board.] Chente, with several others, Bertha, Paulina, Angie, the Bruno crew, would make excellent targets at a shooting range!
Ugh! That whole dialogue with Paulina and Bertha was totally expletive worthy! What an egomaniac Paulina is.
The Leo and Rafa story seems interesting. I realized that other than Paulina and Jessica, we knew nothing about Rafa’s back story. Unfortunately, it does look like Leo is going to easily be pulled over to the dark side. I don’t blame Loli for being a bit bugged that Rafa didn’t tell her about him. If there is something dark in the Rafa/Leo past it is also interesting that Chente never rubbed that in Rafa’s face.
So it appears that we are well on our way to springing Raul in less than a week. I am glad to see that Rox could remain focused long enough to speak seriously with the CA Gov.
I am not happy about the Hunky Bar inspection and potential sabotage of the alcohol. Romeo is right that Apolo does love Octavio more than just in a brotherly way.
Don R is trying to redeem himself. His evil son on the other hand will need a very painful demise.
Thanks Juanita!
Thanks very much, VVS, for your insightful comments. Yes, I too am eager to find out more about the Leo/Rafa story, and the "accident" that Leo mentioned.
And thanks to Poisonous Paulina, I guess we're likely to have to endure several days/weeks of Lustful Leo trying to woo Loli. Sigh.
I'm wondering whether Juaquín will somehow either tame his vengeful father's efforts against the Hunky Bar or else bring about the failure of Augustín's efforts. There's got to be some reason for the writers to make Juaquín Augustín's son. (Oops, silly me, I forgot we were talking about a telenovela.)
I hate to admit it, but the little we've seen of Raul Acuña make him seem like a very decent guy, someone who might indeed be a good father for Nicky. Especially if, as seems likely, Our Heroes are about to rescue him from unjust imprisonment and execution. However, the bond between Nicky and Octavio is now so strong, I would hate to see that weakened or contested by a loving bio dad. Of course, I still haven't completely given up on Octavio, if not for Nicky's paternity then possibly for Sam's. I never liked the bald, lecherous musician as her bio dad. IIRC, we haven't had DNA confirmation of that, have we?
Fantastic recap, Juanita! You got it all and with style. While you were cursing at your screen during Paulina/Berta scene, I had to go to the bathroom to get some of the "pink stuff". Paulina's expression while Berta poured on the adoring adjectives was just about unbearable. Maybe she needed that from Berta since Angie has started to see some cracks in the facade.
Yes, we are all intrigued to know about "the accident" that happened involving Leo and Rafa. Why do I think Leo did something awful? Of course he did.
I find it interesting that Art is more willing to put his mother in a home than Mati. I am still hoping for Mati and Jack as much as many of you are hoping for Octavio and Loli.
I hadn't thought that Gema was speaking to Marcelino, rather that she'd met a new man. But I suppose it would make sense that Marcelino ran through the money from the avocado caper and decided to foist off caring for his girlfriend and his child on Bruno and Melissa.
So...the Berta thing is high on the senseless list of this novela, a real feat. Nora isn't contesting custody of the children. Loli even said she thought things had been decided, although we never got an audience before a judge. So Berta thinks the children would be better off in foster care because Loli didn't visit her neglectful father when he was in rehab?
I think Octavio got signatures on his petition from the protesters outside Hunky Bar.
So...is Agustin Joaquin's father? Or is that Apolo's real name? Someone messed with the alcohol. For a millisecond I wondered if Domingo had fallen off the wagon, somehow sold the real booze and replaced it. But I think the writers have fully reformed Domingo.
My Telemundo has been out Mon & Tues. I'm woefully behind. Your recaps were great, VVS and Juanita. They'll help me FF>> so I can catch up quicker. Wish I could FF>> the commercials, too.

Thanks very much, novelera, for your terrific comments. I enjoyed your saying that perhaps Pau really needed Bertha's adoring comments, since the previous suckup, Angie, seems to be having a change of heart. I've been finding Angie's transformation rather weird, since she seemed to be so very enamored of Paulina. Do we know what has caused her to change?
I'm not at all sure about its being Marcelino on the other end of Gema's phone call. But did you hear her say something like "Papa" twice during the conversation? That could be the way she refers to him, a rather odd pet name, though not all that unreasonable, given their difference in age. Heck, she could probably call him "abuelo"!
Yes, the whole Bertha absurdity is high up on the senseless list, outranked only by just about everything having to do with Bruno and Melissa.
I'm pretty sure that Augustín is Juaquín's father. They have the same last name and we've even seen them together.
dondi356, I'm really sorry you've been having problems receiving Telemundo. Am I right that they're weather-related? That must be so frustrating, especially since you're so active on CarayCaray. I do hope your reception returns soon!
So Leo=bad guy. He could just be a dumb jerk but we already have one of those. Speaking of Bruno, he'd probably be better off in jail. If some big-hearted strippers and a radio talk show can get a guy out of jail in a week, how fast could they get Bruno back in? He'd be better off. Guy needs a break. I was sorry, though, not to see Carol go all Carol-y on that baby. I expected her to say "ewww" and put it down on the floor. It's probably just as safe there as with any of that family. Can Mati and Art adopt it along with the 2 older kids?
I'm surprised to see Paulina turning so evil when she knows how this will affect Jess, who is the one person outside herself she seems to like without getting something in return. The writers couldn't squeeze out enough evil from Chente and Augustin?

At Global Radio Loli and Rafa find out about Vicente stabbing his father in the back and that Rogelio is out.
Rafa resigns, but Loli and Don R. talk him out of it.
Gema continues to do nada. She’s disappointed Rogelio and Norita might resume.
Hunky Bar is closed because of the adulterated alcohol and a bad fire extinguisher. We find out that Joaquin’s father Agustín paid off the inspectors.
Cesar keeps lying to Rox and she’s not happy with him.
Rafa is giving a pep talk to the GR employees when Vicente and Pau walk in applauding. Vicente says they’re merging GR and Nova. Pau is going to be president of both.
Bruno gets rid of the La Cucaracha car.
Leo is going to work at GR. Of course he is.
Pau asks Leo to help Sam with saying something for the heart donor event.
Berta is apparently the only social worker in LA. She’s come to see Octavio about his petition to be a foster parent. And also to rag on him about not giving her the DNA test.
Rox shows up at Cesar’s restaurant and tells Dulce to tell Cesar about her pregnancy or she will tell him.
One Victoria Martínez shows up at Hunky Bar. She says Octavio was HER sperm donor 10 years ago!
Wow novelera! Thank you for the recap for last night! I really appreciate it with my morning coffee.
The evil Chente continues his rampage disguised as business against Don R. Does he not realized that bringing Paulina back to co-president with Rafa may actually start his demise? Paulina in Loli’s old office was no surprise and when she told Loli she was planning on remolding it and removing the clutter, Loli was quick with a good comeback of “you mean empty” I think the Spanish word for empty, “vacia,” is much more appropriate.
Thank goodness Octavio has his attorney on speed-dial. I had to laugh novelera because I thought the same thing about Berta. Is she really the only social worker in LA? No surprise that Augustin paid off the inspectors.
Since that sperm bank did such a terrible job maintaining confidentiality, I am not surprised that another “recipient” shows up at Octavio’s door.
So now we know that Rafa and Leo lost their parents in an “accident.” Should be interesting to find that out.
Thank you for doing double duty novelera!
VVS, that wasn't exactly double duty. At the end of the week it will be more like 1.05 duty!
So Machiavellian Chente maneuvered his father off the board using poor performance at GR as an excuse. And then he decides to merge the two.
I can hardly wait to see what happens with Octavio's new child. I think it will be a girl.
Loved the expression on Pau's face after Loli told her the re-decorating of her former office would not be "minimalist" but empty!
I'm going to SCREAM if the Rox confronting Dulce event of last night doesn't result in Cesar's being outed as working at his former restaurant and, as Rox said, FOR FREE!
I didn't mention the accident with Rafa's parents in my micro-mini recap, but presumably, Loli having overheard, we'll find out tonight.
Oh, and what was said in the big, black SUV was that some güeras (blondes) were, I suppose, paid to sabotage Hunky Bar.
Thanks very much, novelera, for this fine minicap. And thanks too to VVS for her perceptive comments. I don't have anything much to add. IIRC, we learned that two blonde chicas were responsible for the Hunky Bar sabotage. One was in charge of the phony fire extingisher tag, the other the dangerous methanol in the "non-original" bottle.
I had a feeling as soon as Leo mentioned the "accident" to Rafa that it was going to involve their parents. I didn't trust my crystal ball enough to put the prediction in Tuesday's recap, and the crystal ball is apparently annoyed with me, and so it isn't telling me anything more.
How long it will take for Juaquín to find out about his father's nasty, illegal action toward the Hunky Bar?
I agree about Rox and Cesar. ¡Ya basta! with the lies.
