QT #116/117, Part 1

- While Leo eavesdrops, Sab begs Mat to give her a portion of the inheritance so she can take her daughter far away from the toxic atmosphere at La Noria. She's afraid Leo will take Angelita away from her. Mat says it's not up to him alone, but he'll consult with his two moms.

- Leo shows up to offer Eva his pesame, and she gives him a really righteous slap. The windup alone is worth rewatching, in slow motion if possible.

- Bere thanks Chacho for being there for her. He says that now that her father is gone, he will take care of her, she can quit her job, and all of their problems will be solved. Bere replies that she doesn't need anyone to take care of her, she likes her job, and she's moving into her own place.

- Leo covers a sleepy Sab & Angelita with a blanket and smiles like a fer-de-lance.

- Eva dozes off in front of the coffin and wakes to Artemio telling her he's alive -- and now she has to fake his burial while he runs back to Santa Rita. Is it a dream? A ghost? Or is Eva losing her marbles, too?
 

QT #116/117, Part 2

- Vicente pressures Luisa about the marriage proposal, and she points out that he's pressuring her. She suggests they take a break.

- Leo slithers up to Sabina and promises her they can be a real family again if she'll just give him another chance, but he's wearing the Pat Hat, so we don't believe him. Sabina obviously wants to so she probably will, the dumb cluck.

- Magdalena teases Tirso about how much fun he has playing with the children, and he tells her she makes him feel 20 years younger.

- Eva giddily tells the girls their father is alive, and they look at her like she's having a psychotic break. But she explains that the governor helped arrange the ruse to protect him from Leo, and eventually they come around. Sandi of course is totally down with the whole plan, while Bere warns her mom that he's taking advantage of her and will not hesitate to throw her under the bus at his earliest convenience.

- Dalia shows up at Guillermo's house with a smell gift and a slightly deranged smile, but Flor tells her he left in the wee hours to fly to the U.S.
 

QT #116/117, Part 3

- Leo catches Minnie slurping down perfume in her room. He starts packing her a bag for la clinica as she slides dramatically to the floor. At least she'll arrive with nice breath.

- The new lawyer tells Val and Mags that Leo is likely to walk away from Nadia's lawsuit, which is an unpleasant surprise for both of them. Will they at least watch her now???

- Carlos closes the restaurant, puts on some Mexican swing, pops the champagne, smiles so wide he exposes an extra set of teeth and asks Esme to marry him. She says yes.

- Min fights Leo tooth & nail as he drags her and her luggage across the terrace. She suddenly starts screaming that she's gone blind, but he thinks she's faking and grapples her waaay too close to the railing...and over she goes, onto the flagstones below. Leo starts howling and everyone runs out of the house. The scene ends there, but apparently she's toasted toast because the next thing we know Mat and Dalia are talking to the kids at breakfast about visiting granny's urn. (No one would want to fake HER death, would they?)
 

QT #116/117, Part 4

- Dalia receives notice that the judge will rule on Leonel's appeal that very afternoon. She and Mat go to inform Leo and find him in Minnie's room, catatonically clasping her ash-box to his chest. He says he wants her buried at La Noria.

- Some random doc we've never seen before reports the autopsy results to Basurto: Min drank perfume, her liver was shot, and her injuries were consistent with an accidental fall. So I guess she really is dead, at least now that she's had her liver out.

- Mat walks up behind Leo while he's target-shooting in the woods, which seems like an extremely bad idea, and suggests that they bury the hatchet before the judge's ruling. Amazingly, there is no punching, shooting, threatening, or even name-calling -- but Leo nevertheless rejects Mat's overtures, saying he has no intention of sharing a penny of HIS inheritance with any of them.

Blue Lass: I see that Minnie got whacked (via Psycho Leo). Not shocked about that one, good riddance to that garbage. One down, several more to go.

"MEPS" Episode 149 (Part LVIII):
729.) Dumbass Santiago (who FINALLY got a haircut & a shave) is having a difficult time accepting he'll be the father to Gullible Aurora's kid: tough luck jackass.

730.) Psycho Barbara telling Daddy Elizalde that Jackass #2 Camilo is the Baby Daddy of Gullible Aurora's kid: we all know DAMN WELL that Dumbass Santiago is the father!

731.) More suffering of Jackass #2 Camilo in jail; GOOD RIDDANCE!

732.) Redhead confirms to her dumbass young brother that Jackass #2 Camilo was the one who was with Gullible Aurora on that fateful night inside the Elizalde Mansion & predictably he freaks out.

733.) Over at the Astorga's: Clingy Erika arguing with her parents about moving up the wedding date & other details: Fast Forward.

734.) Dumbass Santiago determined to kill Jackass #2 Camilo & Redhead of course, tells him to chill out.

735.) Franco/Eduardo planning his assault mission on Bravo HQ while Martina informs him that Don Silvestre's surgery was successful & he tells Martina on what happened to the Loveable Gringo Steve Norton, Jr.,

736.) More nagging from Jackass #2 Camilo to both Psycho Barbara & Daddy Elizalde: Fast Forward!

737.) Franco/Eduardo telling his Gringo sidekick about the wedding with Clingy Erika being moved up; Steve, Jr., rolls his eyes & I agree with him too: rolling my eyes because this is going to blow up in Franco/Eduardo's face.

738.) Worst pathetic fake farewell performance between Redhead & Dumbass Santiago: OMG.

739.) Colegio Buena Esperanza: Psycho Barbara visits Gullible Aurora once again & we get to see flashbacks of a young Psycho Barbara (AKA Rebecca Sanchez) from back in the day burning down the house with her parents inside of it & we get Psycho Barbara's version of events on how Artemio stole the baby from her after giving birth, etc., Maury Povich reveal says YOU ARE MY DAUGHTER & Gullible Aurora is muy impactada!

740.) Redhead with that great hat speaking with Dumbass Santiago via cell phone.

741.) Bravo HQ: Artemio continuing to threaten & scolding Liliana demanding that she tell the truth about the real identity of Franco Santorro & says since she's an Elizalde, she's as bad as all of them. She cries non-stop. In the meantime over at the hotel, Redhead gives the diary of Ana Gregoria to Dumbass Santiago & she tells him who Artemio Bravo is & how he's related to them.

After Leo told Min a day or so ago he wanted nothing to do with her, now he's deeply stricken with grief.

742.) When we last left off yesterday afternoon at Colegio Buena Esperanza, Gullible Aurora wouldn't leave the convent with Psycho Barbara until she meets with her biological father, Artemio Bravo face-to-face.

743.) Arguing between Dumbass Santiago & Redhead (with the pimp hat) over Dumbass Santiago seeing Gullible Aurora (who's PREGGERS with HIS baby).

744.) Back inside Gullible Aurora's room at Colegio Buena Esperanza: Psycho Barbara gets all agitated over Gullible Aurora's refusal & hesitancy of leaving the convent. We got a steady of the blah-blah-blah: Fast Forward.

745.) Nagging Gardenia (this EXPLETIVE has all but ruined the revenge mission of Franco/Eduardo) returns to Grupo Lactos after dropping the bombshell to Clingy Erika about Franco/Eduardo & Redhead earlier.

746.) Franco/Eduardo telling Steve, Jr., Venus, Martina about his upcoming marriage to Clingy Erika on Saturday. After a weird explanation of stuff & leaving for the US, etc., we can tell both Venus & Martina are both worried about what's really going on based on their body language.

747.) Back to Grupo Lactos: Quite obvious Florecita does NOT buy Nagging Gardenia's "story" about going to the pharmacy. Just as I predicted, Nagging Gardenia said she spilled the beans to Clingy Erika about Franco/Eduardo & Redhead, etc., just as the conversation gets more intriguing, Redhead with the pimp hat shows up in the kitchen to wonder what truth is Nagging Gardenia referring to....

748.) Over at Colegio Buena Esperanza: More of Psycho Barbara's Oscar-worthy performance to Gullible Aurora: BLAH-BLAH-BLAH Fast Forward.

749.) Gullible Aurora having dinner with the nuns, where she tells both Mother Superior & Sister Helena (I think that's her name) about finding her biological mother, Barbara Greco (AKA Rebecca Sanchez).

750.) Redhead with the Pimp-Hat demands an explanation on what Nagging Gardenia is bragging about the truth. Of course, Nagging Gardenia & her BIGLY breasts won't tell & leave. Florecita tells Redhead the truth: Nagging Gardenia told Clingy Erika about Franco/Eduardo & Redhead being in love & Redhead is shocked!

751.) Over at Las Animas: Franco/Eduardo back from another workout invites Redhead inside the house, where she says Nagging Gardenia told Clingy Erika that Franco/Eduardo & Redhead are in love.

752.) Over at J&Ms: Nagging Gardenia is all cackling non-stop while eating breakfast with Jacinto & Mags when Florecita comes over to go off on her BIG MOUTH ratting cousin for being a coward & she tells both Jacinto & Mags what Nagging Gardenia did. Right on cue, both Jacinto & Mags yell at Nagging Gardenia. Jacinto has every right to be worried if Clingy Erika knows about Franco's real identity as Eduardo Juarez & Florecita says Nagging Gardenia plans on exposing that dirty little secret to Redhead (UH-OH Franco/Eduardo).

753.) Over at the Elizalde Mansion: Tomasa cries when Commander Loyoza mentions to Daddy Elizalde that law enforcement found the body of Macario. In the meantime over at the jail, Mooching Damain meets up with Lucio (whom I suspect will be sprung out of jail to wreak havoc on Tomasa once again).

754.) The wedding between Franco/Eduardo & Clingy Erika occurs & we see everyone else in attendance looking like "This wedding will NOT end well" while Nagging Gardenia is determined to barge into the church to expose Franco's identity as Eduardo Juarez OMG.

Graciaa, Blue Lass. This is missing so much detail and build-up. From 116:

--- Flavio agreed to help ID the person who tried to kill Matt
--- Dalia and Esme speculated about Sandy and Leo being in cahoots about killing Matt. Also about Dalia, since Sandy had handled her medications.
--- Nadia had freaked out over the idea of a different lawyer handling her case against Leo.
--- Sab realized that Matt was a decent and noble man and said she wanted him to get half the inheritance. He made her see her maternal defects.
--- Sab also wanted to get away from Leo because he might take Angelita away. Matt told her about the $4MM in Esme's custody and Leo heard this.
--- Tito was feeling bad at not mourning Art despite him not being a good person. Val hugged him.
--- Vicente had offered to escort Luisa to Art's velorio but she did not want to go.
--- In the morning Art put on some working class clothes and left Eva's house. He had to go back to Santa Rita for the moment. He told her she could tell their daughters but no one else.
--- The funeral for the empty coffin took place with all the graveyard rituals. Art talked to the governor about getting even with Leo.
--- Sab had her first civil conversation with Magdalena while both watched Tirso with the kids.
--- Nadia saw that Val loved Matt and told her not to give up hope.
--- Dalia told Matt about G's move. Tito heard this and ha a guilty look.
--- Minnie searched her room for money, then went to Ange's room. Ange caught her. She had the shakes and said she was looking for misplaced medications or she would have to buy more. She apologized to Ange and said she loved her.
 

QT #116/117

From 117:

--- Minnie took some cash from the kitchen and was caught by Corina. She pulled the Senora card before throwing the money on to the floor and walking out
--- Carlo told Sab Leo was worthless. She said she feared being alone.
--- Eva and Berenice argued without Sandy being there. Berenice tried to get Eva to understand that Art is corrupt. Eva said that he was "a great man" and accused Berenice of being selfish since she started working for Avon.
--- Berenice went back to the community house, which Chacho misinterpreted. She told him she had a big fight with her mother and had to get a place on her own.
--- Val called the Padre, who said he could see her the next afternoon.
--- Right after Minnie fell Leo went down to the courtyard and cradled her, crying out "Mama! Mama!" until everyone came out.
--- Victor came to the hacienda with questions. Everyone's stories matched.
--- Matt and Dalia had to tell the kids about Minnie's death. Corina came in with the envelope with the court summons. Matt and Dalia left her in charge of the kids.
--- Leo sat in Minnie's room embracing the box with her ashes, looking like he was in a trance. Matt and Dalia asked why he didn't ask them to go with him to the cremation. He asked "Why?" and Matt said that nobody should have to do this alone. Did he want to put the ashes in his father's grave? Leo said he wanted them kept in the house. "It's what she would have wanted." Matt and Dalia left and Leo cried.
--- Val entered the room later asking if she could do anything for him. He asked her to embrace him but it creeped her out so he told her to leave.
--- Matt told Dalia that while Leo is traumatized by Minnie's death he will not change, having forced Val into marriage. Dalia insisted that Matt should think of Leo because they are brothers.
--- Berenice looked or an apartment as Val arrived and Chacho handed some food bills to her fo the center. She said she would get Corina to look them over. He told her about his issues with Berenice.
--- Dalia saw Esme's engagement ring and was happy for her.
 

QT #116/117

Eva is seriously blind when it comes to Art. What happened that made her want him back after originally ditching him over his philandering however long ago? Does she fear being alone? She seemed to accept that Berenice had the right to a sex life when she saw her with Chacho so how does she come off calling her selfish in this context? Big non-sequiter here.

The edits in this fractured episode lost lots of great acting by Luz Maria Jerez and Victor Gonzales. The build-up to Minnie's accident and the aftermath were great scenes.
 

ECDLP #50

- Magdalena wonders why Ricardo came back to Puebla after 24 years. He wants her forgiveness. She doesn’t want to see or talk to him. He is dead to her. Ricardo gives her his contact information and leaves.
- Teresa tells Lucia that a man called looking for Magdalena. Lucia wonders who it could be. Lucia tells Marcelo that Magdalena was also left at the altar years ago.
- Rebeca asks Nora how it went with the psychiatrist. She doesn’t agree with Nora working at the factory. Alonso won’t like it if she comes in between Lucia and Marcelo.
- Lucia knows that Nora just wants to be close to Marcelo by working at the factory. She doesn’t trust her.
- Mario arrives to pick up Magdalena. She tells him that Ricardo was there. Mario thinks she should see Ricardo again to sort out her feelings. He leaves.
- Sergio takes Leti home from work. He asks her again about her interest in Mario. He thinks she’s just looking for a father figure.
- Amador wonders why Brigida didn’t tell him before that Daniela is Marcelo’s ex girlfriend. Amador says Rodrigo isn’t dating Daniela or anyone.
- Brigida asks Amador if Trini’s killer has been identified yet. He says no.
- Nazario finds Magdalena crying in her room. She tells him about Ricardo showing up.
- Ricardo is looking at a photo of a young Rebeca. He calls Casa Gaxiola but hangs up when Alonso answers.
- After talking to her dad, Lucia eventually agrees to support his decision to hire Nora.
- Sara tells Leti that Mario proposed to Magdalena. She realizes that Leti likes Mario. She tells Leti to quit her job immediately otherwise she (S) will go talk to Mario.
- Milagros wants Rafaela to work for her again. Rafaela knows that Milagros wants her to keep secrets for her. Marcelo overhears and wants to know what these secrets are.
- Milagros tells Marcelo that his father wasn’t the great man Marcelo thought he was. He cheated on her then later died suddenly. Marcelo thinks there’s something more.
- Leti tells Sergio that her mom wants her to quit her job. They both notice that Mario is in a bad mood.
- Marcelo wants to know the name of the woman his dad cheated on his mom with. Rafaela doesn’t reveal it.
- Lalo tells Amador that Nazario will not go through with his client’s order.
- Alonso gives some basic tasks for Nora to do at the factory. She’s not thrilled about it.
- Amador tells Alonso that Nazario won’t fulfill his client’s order. Alonso agrees to talk to Nazario.
- Milagros tells Lucia that she wants to get along with her for Marcelo’s sake.
- Rebeca asks Lucia what Milagros wanted then leaves.
- Ricardo calls Casa Gaxiola asking for Rebeca. Lucia answers but he doesn’t give his name.
- Magdalena tells Sara that she had an unpleasant visit from Ricardo Marquez. Sara quickly walks away after hearing this.
- Nora asks Marcelo for help but he tells her to ask Normita. Lucia walks in and tells Nora to let Marcelo work.
- Marcelo doesn’t think his mom really wants to get along with Lucia.
- Rebeca goes to meet Dr. Andrade. She wanted to meet him formally and tells him that Nora just needs patience. When she leaves, Roman seems to have a better understanding of Nora’s problems.
- Lucia tells Nora to stay away from Marcelo. She basically says Nora doesn’t know what she (L) is capable of.
- Nazario thinks the quality of their work will suffer with this contract Amador has. Alonso trusted Amador but the contract was closed when both Alonso and Nazario were not present.
- Nazario tells Alonso that Ricardo Marquez is back in Puebla.
- Ricardo goes to Casa Gaxiola as Rebeca is on her way out. She recognizes him immediately and wonders why he’s back in town. He says they need to talk. He wonders how she married Alonso. Clearly no one else knows why he left Magdalena. The only one who knew was Adriana who died shortly after finding out. What did Rebeca do to Adriana and how did she marry Adriana’s husband?

Urban, thanks for offering to switch Thursday for Friday with me next week.

And, thanks for giving us the fill-in bits as we move toward the end. Surprising that Sab is beginning to see a future that might not include Leo. Some characters are treating one another with more civility.

I agree that Minnie and Leo's final scene together was super and very intense. Rather than an escaleracide, we had a railing drop.

Minnie was an unsympathetic character in many ways, yet she tugged at my heart just a little.

The drop was unexpected. I was thinking she would suicide.

If you saw Luz Maria Jerez in YNCELH as a cancer patient, I'd say this performance matches it. If Victor Gonzales could sing opera he'd make a great Scarpia.

QT #118 Part 1 of 3

Leonel told Mateo he had no intention of sharing the inheritance with him or his mother. As Matt walked away he pointed his pistol at his back, but did not shoot.

Dalia was happy at Esmeralda's news, but told her that Guillermo was gone. She was sure he had another woman in Miami and blamed herself for her own expectations.

Eva ad Artemio talked Next Steps. She was going to see Vicente playing the grieving widow. She asked the name of the man Leo was accused of killing (Raúl Martinez) whose widow accused him. Art was hiding out in a “4th rate hotel” but still had enough dinero to pay for personal services.

Valeria placed a framed picture of Minerva near the altar as Leo entered with the ashes box. Apart from them only Dalia, Sabina, and Matt were present. Padre G began reading the service. Leo interrupted and demanded “Where was God when my mother died? Where was he when my father died? If God is so good look how badly he has treated me!” Padre G pleaded with him not to blaspheme. Val tried to get him to calm down and he trash-talked her and the others present. Padre G tried once more but Leo shouted at everyone to leave.

Later Tirso said to Sabina that Leo's behavior was abnormal. What if he knew she had killed Amara and stole and hidden the pistol, which was still missing? And was she going to allow Leo to have custody of Angelita? She should arrange for himself, Matt, or Dalia to assume responsibility for her. Sab looked worried. She didn't want to think about this.

Matt was petting La Chula when Val came out. He talked about Leo's behavior and how the hatred he expressed in the church belied the marriage. Val said that he was just out of his mind with grief. Matt tried again to get to the truth. She denied having said anything in the hospital room.She tried to walk away, saying “I don't love you” but began crying. That forced her admission, but ony once. He kissed her but she walked away saying no more.

Eva went into the café and told Vicente that Servando killed Art, whom he betrayed on Leo's behalf. She was sure that Leo had ordered the hit.

Leo was drinking shots. Sab checked on him. He was rude, then apologized. She told hi she was concerned about her being revealed as a killer. He said not to worry. She begged him to consider going away with her and Ange to be a family. His reaction was nasty and deliberate, saying that he would not divorce Val, who was his for life. He had no use for her (Sab) except as a warm body. He would manage Ange's money and have all the rest. Sab had the courage – or foolishness – to say that wanting it all could lead to having nothing. He got worse, called her a golfa, and hit her. The noise summoned Ange who got between them, yelling at him not to hit her mother. Leo tried apologizing to her, but when she backed up into Sab's lap he did a sudden about-face and tried to grab her, scaring her. Sab yelled “No more! No more! Get out!” which shocked him into backing up. He picked up his father's hat, put it on, and left the study. Ange hugged her mother.

Dalia's new lawyer did not show up in court. Guillermo did, though. Leo's shark (Noel) said over the phone he was on his way. Guillermo told Dalia that he was not sure he could face her after hearing about her and Aaron.
 

QT #118 Part 2 of 3

Victor met Magdalena in a restaurant. She asked him to help in the case against Leo. Victor knew that he had killed Raúl Martinez and confessed that Leo had bought his silence. Magda was incredulous.

Dalia did not get this. She and Aaron were only ever friends. Guillermo admitted he loved her and they went into court. Leo requested a delay because his lawyer was late, but the clerk said “No, the judge is very punctual.” Leo paced and looked at his watch.

Victor admitted he had stopped the investigation but said that since meeting her he became a different person. She pulled away. He told her he wanted to see Leo fall and pay for everything he had ever done. Cipriano called to tell him that the test results came in. Victor said he would be there. Although Magda would not look at him he told her to denounce Leo if she wanted and he would protect her and Val.

The judge came in. He read off the list of Don Patricio/s assets which included vacation properties and businesses we didn't hear about. Total value of the estate was $100MM US. Now to be in the control of Dalia and administered by Matt. Sab said nothing, Leo was shocked [and I'm not because I suspected that Noel kept the briefcase of dinero].

The fingerprints on the needle and the vial fingered Sandy. The vial contained potassium chloride which could cause a heart attack at a high dosage. Cipriano came in with an arrest warrant for Sandy.

The judge read that Dalia and Matt were the only decision makers over the estate. Leo took this as badly as expected, accused the judge of corruption, and demanded to know how much “those servants” paid him. A cop dragged him out.

Leo refused Matt's olive branch, insisting he would get it all because Matt was only a bastard and a peón. Sab went after Leo quietly as Matt left with the others.

Vicente's old boss – Pepe – came to see him, saying it was important.

Val met with Padre G and made him promise not to repeat this to anyone. She then told him why she married Leo. She had been present when he killed Surem and Remi. He had been threatening Remi's life ever since Remi realized that Magda was her mother and Nadia was in the manicomio. Leo had shot Remi, Surem was taking care of him and Leo had followed her when she rode to the cabin. Leo later threatened to kill Dalia, Matt, and Magda if she didn't marry him. Matt was just outside the door and heard every word. She had not denounced Leo out of fear because he was looking for any pretext to kill Matt. Padre G asked her to tell him everything. Matt started to cry through his anger.

Pepe confessed to Vicente that he took money in the name of ambition and destroyed himself in the process. He wanted Vicente to take over the paper and the radio station. Vicente was adamant that he would not print lies for Leo's bribes. Pepe was preparing to leave town and was leaving him with a major headline: Artemio is alive.

Padre G told Val she had to denounce Leo, but she said she couldn't. Matt could not take any more and came in, angry that she had concealed this from him. She said she did this to save his life He said Leo had to pay and went out. Val and Padre G followed him.
 

QT #118 Part 3 of 3

Vicente demanded to know about this WTF. Pepe reminded him of the informant confidentiality and said that his source was very reliable. He said to publish the story because it would begin to rectify the wrongs.

Victor handed the arrest warrant to Dalia. Sandy was not at home, having gone to the doctor's office. Corina went to get the address. Dalia was relieved and Victor asked how she came to suspect Sandy. Dalia told him about how obsessed Sandy had been about the inheritance and the idea that she would get Matt's inheritance if he died. Also because she would not see any other doctor she suspected that Uriel was her accomplice.

Matt went to the municipal office and past Cipriano, who ran after him. Leo was not in the office. Matt demanded he get out of the way., When he did and Matt left the idiot took out his phone.

Leo was trying to see Noel, but the landlord stood in his way. His phone rang. He saw Cipriano's name on the screen but did not answer. He asked where Noel was. The landlord only knew that he was not coming back. He had turned the keys in to him that morning. Leo went inside and saw empty bookshelves. The landlord told him that the lease had expired over six months before. He had paid the rent in full before leaving. He only knew that there had been several international phone calls so Noel was likely to be out of the country. Leo realized he had been scammed.
 

QT #119 Part 1 of 3

Noel gave the money – still in its briefcase – to Esmeralda. He had known her years previously when she had intervened to prevent Don Patricio from killing his father. Leo had no knowledge of this and was not living in the area at the time. All he had to do to get the money was tell Leo that the judge could be bribed. Now he was on his way to join his sister's business in the US. Esme didn't want the money but he said he was sure she would find a good use for it. He said goodbye and left. Esme laughed, imagining Leo's face.

Val and Padre G did not find either Leo or Matt at the mayor's office. Cipriano – the traitor – said he did not know where Leo was and speculated that Matt had gone back to La Noria.

Victor pulled up in front of Uriel's office where Sandy was, telling him she was feeling weak. She was worried about the investigation. He told her the stress was not doing her any good. She was hoping there was a negative result on the fingerprint test. He mentioned a DNA test on the baby. The doorbell rang. Uriel looked out the window and saw Victor and the police car. He told her to go into the bathroom and he would take caare of it, but... she had a sudden contraction. He showed her into the bathroom and she probably locked the door.

Outside the gate Victor told Uriel he had an arrest warrant for Sandy on attempted murder. He insisted on entering the office.

Ange told Tito she was afraid of Leo. She wanted Sab to find a novio who would make her happy. They had tried but Carlo wasn't the one. Sab and Tirso heard this. She said she didn't want her parents to be together because Leo frightens her. She wanted Tirso to be her dad. Tito wished that Matt was his father rather than Art. Ange wished that Val, Magda, or Dalia was her mother. Tito and Sab were outside the door and heardd everything. Sab was in shock at this last revelation.

Uriel said Sandy left a half hour ago. Victor asked whether he was familiar with potassium chloride and Uriel answered that he was. Victor asked if he knew what an overdose would do and Uriel almost flippantly replied “I suppose so. But now anyone can find that out on the internet. Why, Inspector? Don't tell me you think I had anything to do with it?”
“Maybe.”
“Of course not.”
“Hmm. Do you have any of that drug in your office?”
“No, Inspector. If you are going to accuse me of something, do it. But don't think you can accuse me without proof.”
“You know that pharmaceutical suppliers have purchase records.”
“So?”
“I'm having lists sent to me. And I hope for your own good that you're being honest with me.”
Victor told the other cops it was only a matter of time. He pulled out slowly from the parking space. Uriel watched but then Sandy had another contraction.

Matt drove the red truck thinking of the recent encounters with Val. He called Leo, who did not answer. He left a message that was clearly threatening. Not smart of him.

Esme met Aaron in a restaurant. He said he thought he wold never see her again.

Nadia took a document a letter opener and a document from Leo's study.

Chacho eavesdropped on Berenice and Luisa talking about their issues with men. Berenice said she loved him but his jealousy was too much. She also could not deal with her attempts at controlling her. Luisa talked about seeing a shrink. Berenice went upstairs to pack. Chacho passed her on the stairs. Luisa suggested he see Val's shrink.

Aaron met with Esme and he sounded like he was saying goodbye to the world. Esme forgave him and they hugged.

Matt charged in the hacienda demanding to know where Leo was. Corina said he was not in.

Uriel gave Sandy an injection for her anaemia and something to stop the contractions so she could leave. She refused to leave without him; he was her accomplice./ She pulled the “My father is Artemio Cabrera” card. When he replied “Don't talk nonsense; your father is dead” she – very stupidly – told him that Art was alive and had faked his death to get revenge on Leo. He gave in but looked resentful.

Aaron thanked Esme and saw her enagement ring. He said he was happy for her but that he could not die in peace until he found his sister's killer.

Matt went home and took his pistol. Before he left Dalia tried to tell him about Sandy.

Leo went to his municipal office where Cipriano ratted Matt out. Leo listened to Matt's message, which was a threat to kill him for what he did to Val. He took a pistol out of the desk drawer and left the office. Cipriano called Victor immediately and Victor called Saldivar who was watching for Sandy.

Uriel should have his license revoked; he had Sandy climbing over the rear wall behind his office. Saldivar saw them. As she hit the ground she was hit with a contraction. Saldivar chaed them as they went to Uriel's car. He stood in front of her. Saldivar yelled to Sandy to think of her child. Uriel punched Saldivar, but ended up on the pavement. Saldivar cuffed him as Sandy began running away.. He radioed Victor.

Dalia was worried. She knew that Victor was looking for both brothers. She started to call Val but she ran in with the Padre. Nadia had seen Leo leave armed and Tito had seen Matt arm himself. Val told Dalia what Matt overheard but would not give the details for the moment. Sab came in with Juan and Justino. Everyone left except for Magda and Nadia who were left to watch the children.

Sandy began to haemmorhage.

Both Matt and Leo checked their weapons as they drove. Leo began looking more and more demonic.

Faccundo bought the café from Luisa and asked Camila to be his partner. Both ways. They kissed just as Sandy collapsed in the doorway. They called for help.

Leo's jeep and Matt's pickup came to a stop amid clouds of dust, like in an old western movie. Both came out armed and aiming at each other. The others arrived before any shots were fired.

Esme and Carlo talked about the new situation. He asked what she was going to do with the money. No answer yet.

Val tried to stop the “duel” Tirso tried, then Padre G. Leo accused Matt of sealing everything “the love of my father, the love of my wife, and my inheritance.” Matt conter-accused Leo of taking he lives of Surem and Remi. Matt said he had to kill Leo so he could not escape justice. Val got between them. Matt dropped his pistol. A few seconds later Leo did and this became an ugly fistfight. Matt knocked Leo down and landed several blows that drew blood. Victor arrived just in time. Matt shouted that Leo killed Remi and Surem. Val echoed this, adding that he also set the cabin on fire. Leo called her a liar. She told Victor the rest. Leo then ordered Victor to arrest Matt.

Saldivar accompanied Sandy to the hospital. Dr Flavio said the baby's life was in danger. Saldivar said the police need access because they were in the process of arresting her when this happened. Eva and Berenice came in . Eva looked ready to faint when Saldivar explained the charge.

Victor wanted proof. Val said she was an eyewitness and that Servando was Leo's accomplice. Victor said to accompany him to file the charges and the fire will be investigated. Leo threatened Val that she would pay. Matt yelled at him that he lost his chance for them managing La Noria together as brothers.
“Brothers? You could never be my brother, you fifth-rate peón.”
“From this moment you can't set foot on La Nora. One step in and I will kill you.”
“I will be your shadow every day of your life. And I will get you right between the eyes.”
Leo actually picked up his hat and drove away. Victor must have telepathy; when did he get this call? He told Matt that Sandy was in hospital after trying to escape the police.

Night,

Dr Flavio told Matt et al that Sandy's anaemia provoked a premature labor. They had to do an emergency C-section. The baby's lungs were not fully formed yet. Matt realized the baby was too small for Sandy to have been pregnant at the wedding. He asked Eva if she had known. She hung her head in shame. Everything possible was being done. Sandy was still unconscious from the anaesthesia so she didn't know yet. The good doctor said they would tell her when she wakes up. Her prognosis wasn't good either because of the severity of the anaemia.

Sandy woke up cuffed to the bed. She realized she was no longer pregnant. Dr Flavio told her what happened. She became hysterical.

This series -- especially at this stage -- has provided the answer I was looking for about the shortness of scenes in the last 10 years: This makes it easier to chop up episodes in this manner. I hate to think of how badly other networks could be doing this.

The cluelessness of fathers in telenovelas never ceases to amaze me. Alonso is dreaming big at any intention of Nora to be anything but the bane of Lucia's existence. To have the gall to come on to a sister's novio right in front of her is about as low as it gets.

If Lucia committed suicide in front of her Nora would laugh.

Leti is foolish, but that is out of naivete.

WOWWOWWOW. Having read your exciting coverage, UA, it will be interesting to see how Univision chops this up. I can't imagine how anyone could have followed all of that action without seeing everything. I'm still worried that some of the characters will just disappear without resolution, but fortunately you'll be able to explain that, too. You're going to need a long vacation after this wraps.

This is why I object so strongly to the editing out of scenes. So far we haven't missed any serious information but a lot of nuance in things like Minnie's alcoholism and Leo'a descent into the maelstrom of madness.

If he is still alive at the end he will be in a manicomio for the criminally insane. Then the good padre should have no problem getting Valeria an annulment. I have not read any spoilers so I really hope this has the happy ending she deserves.

Since Art is alive, what do you think should happen to him? I would like to see him in a prison that isn't Club Fed.

Let's hope the governor doesn't pardon Art. Maybe Art can teach other prisoners literacy skills.

Loved seeing Sandy chained to the hospital bed. Yes, I know that's not charitable.

I think Esme should be the next alcalde. She has the skills for it.

Sandy is clearly one of the most selfish people in this story, exceeded only by Leonel. Ut would be just if they ended up killing each other, but I somehow doubt that it will playy out that way.

While I was initially angry with Victor at the scene of the duel, he was going by the book. The book he can now throw at Sandy because they have the needle with her fingerprints on it, the potassium chloride left in the needle when she dropped it, the eyewitness who recognized her, and the fact that the needle was a different brand from what the hospital stocks.

No shots were fired at the scene of the duel. All Victor actually has are accusations. It shocked me that nobody had checked for accellerant at the scene of the fire. That would prove arson, which would be an obvious cover-up for murder.
