Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #68
Part 1 of 5

A sleeping Gul is awakened by shouts from Azat to Miran. What are you doing here? She is my wife, don’t get involved! More voices are added, Cihan and Handan, GT, all yelling at Miran. Gul opens the bedroom door, listens for a moment, closes the door and puts her hands over her ears (and we do too) to drown out the shouting. After a quick memory of Melike teaching her how to use the phone to call her mother, Gul sees Melike’s phone on a dresser and calls Zerah. She tells her that Miran is there and everyone is yelling at him. Gul says she is scared.

Zerah tells her to get back under to covers and talk to her while she heads back to the konak. Hazar attempts to pull out his IV line so he can go as well, a nurse stops him, as does Zerah.

In the kitchen, getting a midnight snack, Firat hears his phone and smiles when he sees that Yaren is calling him. Hearing the background commotion, he realizes it is not a pleasure call. Yaren tells him Miran is there and will be killed by Azat or GT if he doesn’t come to rescue him immediately. Yaren fakes being very upset, I guess she still has hopes that Miran is going to glance over in her direction one day. Firat rushes out to once again save Miran.

HAG is taking her daily dose of Evil Pills and hears Firat call for the cars and guards. The cockroaches, including Elif, have already gathered in the courtyard. Azize demands to know, where is Miran? Conducting a raid at the Sadoglu konak, says Firat. Elif begs HAG to do something so Miran isn’t killed. Firat and posse head out. Gonul turns away to head back to her bedroom. Sultana demands to know why she is going? Gonul says, clearly Miran didn’t raid the konak, he is only there to get Reyyan. Disgusted and jealous, she stomps away.

We finally see the full noisy fight as Azat pushes Miran out of Reyyan’s bedroom, Miran continues to yell that Reyyan is his wife, Cihan is trying to pull Azat off Miran and Reyyan is pleading with Miran to just leave. Handan and Yaren are there just making noise. Melike finally remembers poor Gul and heads upstairs. GT pulls a gun and aims it at Miran. Everyone begs him to put the gun down. Reyyan jumps in front of GT and Miran, demanding that GT shoot her (I think we have seen this happen at least three times before) as she no longer has any strength to deal with the drama. Cihan pulls her away.

GT gives a speech about how no one in his family is a killer, but Miran is and now he will pay. GT places the gun directly over Miran’s heart and threatens to shoot. Miran tells Reyyan not to be afraid as he calmly tells GT that he (Nasuh) is indeed a murder because Hazar and he have both systematically killed Reyyan.

Reyyan once again gets involved, pushes the gun and GT away from Miran and gives them both a proper scolding. Instead of being grateful Hazar is alive, GT wants to spill more blood. Talking to Miran, she says, this revenge thing is going to end up killing me or you. We will die because of your hatred and vengeance. She says a lot of the same things we have heard before, the most important is that she wants to live and doesn’t want him to show his face again. She tells him to leave. Just when things are calmer, Miran refuses to leave her. All heck breaks out again with GT shoving the gun back onto Miran’s chest. Firat and his posse arrive, guns drawn, calling out to GT. Firat says, Miran is not a murderer, in fact why would he have given the blood that saved Hazar’s life, if he had tried to kill him?

Part 2 of 5

Shocked looks go around as Miran tries to shush Firat from sharing this information. If Hazar Sadoglu is alive today, it is because Miran’s blood flows in his veins, says Firat. With that tidbit of information, Miran is able to make a graceful exit. Firat and the posse back out and down the stairs, of course, guns drawn. Firat chases Miran down the lane outside of the konak. Miran is angry that Firat shared the blood transfusion information with the Sadoglu. Firat tells him, Nasuh was threating to kill you for something you didn’t do. I had to do something; I wasn’t going to watch you die for something you didn’t do. Would you rather have died? I am already dead, spits Miran. Look at my state and situation, I am like the living dead.

Firat tells him that dying like that isn’t worth it. As along as Miran has life, he has hope. He encourages his friend to get a grip and continue to fight for Reyyan. Miran responds, there is no hope as long as Reyyan believes her father. She doesn’t believe that I do want to find the truth but some letter isn’t going to expose the truth. What letter? asks Firat. A letter that my mother supposedly wrote to Hazar, he came to the konak to give it to us and now it is no where to be found. Reyyan thinks I took the letter so her father wouldn’t be correct. I don’t understand any of this, says Firat. I don’t either, says Miran, that is why I am going crazy. After Hazar’s slanderous lie about me, I think it is another one of his games, but then I cannot explain why he came to the konak in the middle of the night and then, nearly dying in the ambulance, he was asking for the letter. I cannot figure it out! Firat says, what if there really is a letter? If that letter exists, says Miran, I need to find out who has it and what it says.

In the Aslanbey courtyard, the vigil for Miran is in full swing. Esma is trying to contact Firat for an update. Firat finally calls Azize to let her know that Miran is fine and they are heading back. Everyone, especially Elif, is relived. HAG orders everyone to bed, but holds Sultana back asking her why Gonul isn’t sharing any concern for Miran. Is Sultana giving her more bad advice? Now is not the time for her to be in the corner, we need to be united as a family. Sultana snaps back, you put her in that corner Azize, now you are asking for an account? Gonul will appear when she is good and ready, not when you order her to. Sultana walks away as Azize grits her teeth.

In the Sadoglu courtyard, Nasuh is berating Cihan for not finding another blood donor and allowing that the “bloodless” Miran give the lifesaving blood to Hazar. Cihan says, who cares that it was Miran, at least my brother is alive. Even Azat jumps in saying, he gave another name, so even he didn’t want us to know he donated his blood to save Hazar. Nasuh is having none of the rational responses saying that clearly Azize, the puppet master, is just using this ploy in an effort to cover Miran’s efforts to kill Hazar.

GT moves on to his favorite target, Reyyan. You clearly knew, how could you allow the blood of that bastard to be in your father? Reyyan says that she found out after the surgery and agrees with her uncle. Who cares? Hazar is alive. GT starts with his same old, “Reyyan you are the problem speech” but she cuts him off and demands to know what happened in the past that GT is not telling them about? Why is he hiding the real reason of the hostility between he and Azize? What really happened the night Dilsah died?

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #68
Part 3 of 5

This shuts the old walrus (thank you dondi356) up. GT shoots a guilty look over to Yusuf and then heads up the stairs. Reyyan warns him, I have no intention of letting this go and will prove my father’s innocence. If I find out you had anything to do with this, you will have to deal with God and then me. With his back to Reyyan and the family, GT has a very, very suspicious look on his face as he heads up the stairs.

In the Aslanbey kitchen, Esma is cleaning lentils when Firat enters the room. Esma jumps up asking, How is Miran? Did they do anything to him? He is fine, says Firat. He went for a walk to clear his head. Doesn’t Miran value his life, asks Esma, why does he put himself in constant danger? Miran feels like he is dead, responds Firat, Reyyan won’t even look at him and he is devastated.

Mother, I need to ask you something, says Firat. How was the relationship between Mehmet and Dilsah? Did they have problems or issues that you were aware of? This question transports us back to an Esma memory of her standing outside of what is now Miran’s room, listening to Dilsah’s cries as Mehmet beats the crap out of her. She can see the shadow of Mehmet slapping and grabbling Dilsah by the hair as she begs him to stop. The young Esma is clearly distressed but does nothing and heads down stairs as the lights in Azize’s room are turned off. Esma is honest with Firat and tells him that Mehmet was an angry person and he used to beat Dilsah. Why are you asking me this now Firat?

Firat explains that apparently Dilsah wrote Hazar a letter asking for his help to be rescued from the abuse. Hazar had that letter the night of the incident and now the letter is missing. Miran isn’t sure if the letter is real or not, but he wants to learn the truth of what happened that night and find this letter. Very directly, he asks if Esma knows anything about the letter, reminding her that he knows she was close to Dilsah and Hazar. Esma hears Dilsah’s voice in her head, saying that she would write a letter to Hazar to rescue her because Mehmet was going to kill her. To Firat, Esma denies the existence of the letter and says that Midyat is a small place. She knew both Dilsah and Hazar back in the day, but nothing about any relationship. Firat does not look convinced.

Reyyan is soothing the traumatized Gul who continues to tremble even in her sleep. Melike says, she was so scared and wanted to know why everyone was yelling at Miran. Melike asks, do you really believe that Miran did this to your father? Reyyan sighs saying, Oh Melike, if anyone but my father said it, I would not believe them. Melike says, she doesn’t understand why Miran would donate his blood after trying to kill Hazar. Just then, we hear the sound of a siren right outside the konak. Frightened, Reyyan asks Melike to stay with Gul as she, with all the other cockroaches, scurry out of rooms to see what is going on.

An ambulance, carrying Hazar and Zerah, has arrived. Everyone is of course up in arms about why Hazar is there. He only speaks to Reyyan asking, are you okay? Then to GT saying, why didn’t you tell me Miran was here? Guilty, no one responds to that question, they all go help lift the gurney up the many flights of stairs. Next scene, Hazar is now in his own bed, in pain, but at least home. He demands to know why no one told him about Miran coming to the mansion that night. How did you find out? GT wants to know. (I had to think back into the recesses of my brain and remembered that Gul called Zerah at the hospital because she was scared when she heard all the yelling). That doesn’t matter, says Hazar. What would you do from your sick bed brother, says Cihan. We are capable of handling things.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #68
Part 4 of 5

Hazar asks Reyyan again if she is okay. She says she is and that Miran will not come back to the konak again. She asks Hazar if he should really be out of the hospital (I ask the same question) but Hazar says he couldn’t be there knowing what was going on here and he wanted to be near her. Zerah leaves to get Hazar’s medication and Hazar indicates to Reyyan that she should also leave the room.

Hazar wants to know what happened. GT says that had Reyyan not jumped in front of the gun, he would have killed Miran. Hazar says, if Reyyan did that, it was because she listens to me, I told you not to do anything drastic, no blood would be spilled. GT says, no way Azize and Miran getting away with this. The guilty Hazar pleads for all of them to let him handle everything. Cihan and GT hint around that they have a plan to destroy the Aslanbey (the marriage to Elif) without shedding any blood. Zerah and Reyyan return with water and medication. Zerah tells them Hazar needs to rest and sleep. GT and the boys agree to continue the discussion when Hazar is better. They leave Reyyan and Zerah to tend to Hazar.

Reyyan moves to Hazar’s bedside. He looks anguished at her miserable look. My daughter he begins, I am not comfortable, your mother and I…he cannot finish his confession because Zerah jumps in saying, Hazar, you need to rest. We can talk later. Reyyan is also devastated and tired, we all are. Let’s rest and talk tomorrow. Hazar pleads briefly with Zerah, but Reyyan says, mother is right, you rest. Hazar can’t even look at Zerah as Reyyan leaves the room.

Back in her own room, Reyyan leans up against the door in tears. Miran, in his room, is in the exact same place, with tears, envisioning Reyyan sitting in the chair/bed smiling at him. He thinks, what will I do without you Reyyan? How will I live? Reyyan thinks, our lives will be so different now apart from each other. I said everything would be okay if you gave up this revenge, good days would come, but you have left a huge hole in my heart that will not heal. You killed my hope Miran. Miran opens the Reyyan box of treasures and finds the repaired seashell. He thinks, there is hope, Reyyan, there is always hope, I won’t let you forget. Looking into the mirror he continues, my wounds crusted over with your help, but by not believing in me, those wounds are reopened and inside of me. Even with this, I still have hope and the wounds will heal again.

Reyyan cries, thinking, how does a person heal wounds when they don’t know how? I have tried everything. We are not good for each other Miran. I put our love first, praying that something like this would not happen. I made a mistake, a huge mistake. Miran, sits on the floor against the footboard of the bed, wondering, how will we live now? I cannot even breath without you here by my side, he touches the arm of the chair. Reyyan thinks, we will have to learn how to live like this. As long as you want to kill my family, I cannot be with you. Miran thinks, I was with you even knowing that your father took my loved ones from me. I have put our love first, ahead of everything.

Grabbing her chest, Reyyan tells her heart to be quiet and stop hurting her so much. Her love for Miran will have to stay trapped in her heart. She cries on her bed. Miran holds the seashell to his heart, saying don’t ever stop, don’t be quiet. Even if my heart is in pieces, keep on, don’t let it be quiet. If there is no Reyyan, Miran does not exist. (It is a poignant, sad and beautifully done love scene).

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #68
Part 5 of 5

Morning arrives in Midyat. There is kitchen banter as Handan is stuffing her face with pastry made by Nigar. They tease Nigar that she is going to go back to the farm as Yousef’s wife and Melike needs to learn how to make the pastry for Handan. Reyyan comes into the kitchen and is greeted with vinegar from Handan, but everyone else is kind and help her prepare breakfast for Hazar.

Zerah looks pathetically out the window as Hazar worries that she did not sleep all night long. She says that as long as Reyyan is married to Miran, he will not leave her alone, they must get them divorced as soon as possible. Incredibly, Hazar agrees with her. Zerah has already contacted the company lawyer and he has already sent over the divorce paperwork for Reyyan to sign. Now Hazar gets a bit upset saying that they should at least consult Reyyan first. He doesn’t like what they are doing (neither do I). Zerah pushes the point saying that there is no other choice but to have Reyyan get the divorce. Miran will never leave her alone until that happens. Reyyan knocks on the bedroom door to bring breakfast, as Zerah shoves her daughter’s life into her ugly sweater pocket.

Zerah breaks the news to Reyyan that she already has the divorce papers ready for signature, Hazar makes a half-hearted attempt to approve, but cannot look Reyyan in the eye. Reyyan takes the envelope and heads out of the konak to the stables. She tells herself that the divorce is the best thing to do as Miran did try to kill her father. She greets Blue and talks to him about how she wishes she could just ride far away and never look back. She saddles him up for a ride. Exiting the stables, Miran watches her, saying to himself, I know where you will ride Reyyan.

In a beautiful overhead shot, we see Reyyan and Blue galloping over the Turkish countryside. Sheep and goats are in the fields as she rides. Quickly, Miran on his white horse, catches up to her. She stops and angrily dismounts accusing him of following her. Yes, he says, that is the only way I can see you. We need to talk. I have already said everything I need to say, she snaps. Besides, I am tired of saying the same things and tired of listening to you say the same things. We are not we anymore! There is no such thing as us.

Miran tells her, how do you know I will say the same thing if you haven’t listened to me? She responds, what you say has no meaning anymore, there is no such thing as me and you, no more us! She turns Blue away in an attempt to remount. Miran cleverly says, wait Reyyan, you what are you doing to this horse? You have the bridle on wrong. In her confusion, as she checks the bridle, Miran manages to scare off the both horses. Reyyan attempts to call Blue back and is furious with Miran. How will I get back home now? I did it so we can be alone and away from everyone, he responds. Well, I don’t want to talk to you ever again, says Reyyan.

She heads up the hillside with Miran calling after her, Reyyan, Reyyan! Stop, you are going to fall. Leave me alone! she shouts, her back to him, climbing the hill. She hears Miran make a groaning sound as he slips and disappears behind a rock. Miran? says a concerned sounding Reyyan, turning around, as the episode ends.

Thanks very much, VVS, for this superb recap. It's so detailed that I think I could have skipped the episode and gotten just as much from simply reading your account. And yours has the advantage of some terrific asides, not to mention no commercials.

Though I loved your recap, I was somewhat disappointed in the episode. So much of it was just more of the same. Very little new happened. Miran comes to the Sadoglu konak to try to get Reyyan to come back with him (again). GT draws his gun and tries to stop Miran (again). Reyyan puts herself between GT and Miran and tells GT to kill her (again). Reyyan tells Miran that it's over and he should leave (again). The Aslanbey testosterone squad squad arrive to save Miran (again). Etc. etc. etc.

One of the episode's few interesting scenes was between Esma and Firat, where we see Esma's recollection of Mehmet's mistreatment of Dilsah, followed by Esma's lying to Firat about there having been anything between Dilsah and Hazar and about the existence of a letter. I confess I was disappointed in Esma for lying and in Hazar for not confessing to Reyyan that he lied about Miran pushing him down the stairs.

It was hard to tell just what happened at the very end of the episode. My impression is that Miran pretended to trip or fall so that Reyyan would come see what had happened. I suppose it's possible that he actually did accidentally slip and hurt himself. I'm not anxiously holding my breath.

Café

This is one of the best telenovelas I’ve ever seen. The acting was beyond amazing – wonderful performances! Gorgeous movie-quality production, great story. I’m puzzled that it didn’t attract much interest here on Caray.

I’d like to call out all the excellent actors, but there were so many. My tip-top favorites were the fellows who played Ivan and Carlos Mario, and the actress playing Gaviota’s mother. Not so outstanding was William Levy who mostly just knit his brow male-model style and sometimes twitched his lips a little. He did smile a few times.

Did anybody else watch? Can anybody tell me who did the singing?

Café

Maggie, the singing was done by Laura Londoño. She was also the lead actress, Gaviota, in this one.
I loved it too.

"CAFE":

Maggie: I watched the Gran Final last night. It was awesome seeing Sebastian & Gaviota getting their happy ending.

I think Sebastian's BFF & what's her face got together too including having a kid.

Steve Boudreaux.

"CAFE":

MwendwaE: I enjoyed last night's Gran Final. I had no idea Laura Londono is a singer.

Cafe
Fe
This telenovela was amazing on so many levels The cast was superb. The acting real and natural. The well written script dealt with contemporary issues; classicism, racism, gay relationships, women’s choice. Many lessons were learned, prejudices overcome. Acceptance, forgiveness, teamwork were prominent themes. Not the typical telenovela.
When Cafe began, I posted comments for discussion but there was very little response.
Monday was the final episode. I will miss it.

VVS, thank you so much for another excellent recap. I especially appreciate it because I missed this episode .

And so it goes...together ...apart....together ...apart ........

herc

Thank you, Juanita and Susanlynn for your comments.

Juanita, I think that the writers were definitely playing us at the end. I think Miran fake fell just to get Reyyan to turn back around. I am hoping that the repeats are soon replaced with reveals. Who wrote the notes to HAG? Where is the Dilsah letter? Will Esma give Hazar the other Dilsah letter? We have to get some sort of movement this week.

“The Aslanbey testosterone squad” very funny, Juanita. I hope you get a more exciting episode to recap tonight.

Herc

Thank you, VVS. Wonderful recap.

Zehra didn't waste time and got the divorce papers ready. I hope Reyyan doesn't speak to her for months.
"In a beautiful overhead shot, we see Reyyan and Blue galloping over the Turkish countryside. Sheep and goats are in the fields as she rides." I love those outdoor scenes.

Cafe

I enjoyed this one too even if the difficult Colombian accents made it harder to understand. Julia’s coming around to acceptance of the various choices her kids made was nice to see, and glad Paula got some redemption because Arthur is adorable and needs a girlfriend. (I assume they’ll be together- this is still a novella after all). But it was nice to see women rescuing their own danged selves and wanting to stand on their own. Sebas/ Wm Levy was fine in this but really more of a side character to all the women and Ivan. I did think Carlos Mario was fun until he ruined it by hitting Marcia. No excuse for that. And Bernies story was one not often seen. Plus, the show didn’t drag the bad parts out for too long, which I liked because that just makes the story drag. Excellent work all around and if another Colombia show comes up, we’ll all be more prepared. ;)

Not sure I can make Malverde, but will check out the upcoming and see what looks good. Enjoy the rest of Hercai and maybe get Reyna a job in the coffee finca. Seems like she needs out of Turkey.

herc

Hey there Lucio! I was thinking about how much you enjoy the overhead cinematography in this dizi as I watch Reyyan galloping away last night. I really enjoy the outdoor scenery and bed linens!

Reyyan is such a kind person, but I hope she gets really, really upset with both Hazar and Zerah.

herc

VVS, thanks VERY much for your response to my comments. Needless to say, I'm 100% in agreement that we need reveals, not repeats. And, of course, answers to the questions you raised: "Who wrote the notes to HAG? Where is the Dilsah letter? Will Esma give Hazar the other Dilsah letter?" Not to mention what is Nasuh hiding in his past? What's the relationship between Nasuh and Azize? What role did Hanife play? And where's the short, fat, pock-marked groom for Yaren? :-)

Hercai: #69 - p. 1 of 3
As the episode starts, Reyyan is hurrying away from Miran. Suddenly, he cries out. Reyyan turns back to see whether he is hurt. He's not. He just wants her to listen to what he has to say. She refuses. By now, we all know the script. FF>> Finally, Reyyan reluctantly agrees to hear him out. He tells her that he was in the kitchen when he heard a noise. He went to investigate and found Hazar lying at the bottom the the stairs. "You came and saw me there. If I'd have pushed him, I'd be at the top of the stairs. I called an ambulance. I never wanted your father to die." Reyyan insists, "My father never lied to me." Miran asks for a second chance. Reyyan replies, "Your hate destroyed that chance." She takes out her phone and calls Azat, asking him to come get her.

Azat brings her back to the Sadoglu konak. She gets out of the car and sees the little rose bush, now apparently dead. She speaks to it, saying "I sang beautiful songs to you, and I watered you, but I couldn't keep you alive. They wouldn't let me take care of you. Now you're dead." It's clear she's talking not just about the rose bush but about her love for Miran. Crying, she takes out the divorce papers Zehra had given her. Zehra sees her and she too cries.

The scene shifts to Esma, who is clearly upset. She remembers Miran's questions about the past, and she remembers Dilsah's saying "If I can't save myself, let me at least save Miran." Esma takes out what I assume is the remaining letter, the one where Dilsah tells Hazar that Miran is his son. Esma is tormented. She asks God what path she should take. On one side, there's Miran. On the other side, my son. And there's also Hazar. What am I going to do?

Firat came to get Miran and bring him back to the Aslanbey konak. Miran doesn't want to go in. He tells Firat, "Hazar Sadoglu and his lies took Reyyan from me. Her father keeps blaming me." Firat urges Miran to persist. Miran tells Firat he's not ready to go inside. He'll go for a walk.

Esna reads the letter (but not aloud, and I don't know Turkish) and then puts it away. A few seconds later, Firat comes in and asks her what she's doing up so late. She tells him she's about to go to bed. He asks her to please not hide things from him. She tells him she has nothing to tell him. Firat says he sees how Azize is watching her. Esma claims that sometimes, she and Azize don't agree, such as how to treat Reyyan or even Gonul. She hasn't said anything to Azize, but she knows that Azize sees it in her eyes. She then asks Firat why he's so interested in this issue now. Firat tells her that everyone is suffering. "There has always been hate, but in Kars,, we were happy together. Here, everyone is miserable. We were raised in the Aslanbey orphanage, without fathers and you without your husband. But we were together. Not now. I wish I could end this hate. This damned venganza is destroying Miran.. He thought his love would be enought, but it wasn't. He almost got killed yesterday. In spite of the risks, he went to the Sadoglu konak to get Reyyan, and Nasuh almost shot him. Miran won't stop until he has proved Hazar wrong. And then what? Either Miran or I will die because of this." Esma is clearly upset by what Firat has said. She suggests that they could go far away. Firat says no. He doesn't want to abandon the others. "They're family. The problems will continue, but I won't be here to protect people." After Firat leaves Esma's room, she says, "I had no right. I sacrificed you, my son."

Hercai: #69 - p. 2 of 3

Nasuh tells Yusuf that he has promised Hazar that he will not use guns against the Aslanbey. Yusuf is pleased to hear this. He tells Nasuh, "It's time your family lived in peace. Put an end to this dispute." Gul comes by, sees a rose plant, and says she wants to bring one to her father, along with a cake that she'll bake (??). After she leaves, Nasuh stares enigmatically at the rose plant.

At the Aslanbey konak, Sultana orders Sehriyah to remove all Reyyan's clothes. Sehriyah isn't sure this is the right thing to do. She says that Miran is her boss. Sultana tells her he may be Sehriyah's boss, but she, Sultana, is the lady of the house, and her wishes must be obeyed. Sultana leaves, and Sehriyah very grudgingly starts to carry out her orders, muttering how much she dislikes the high and mighty Sultana. Sehriyah brings out a pile of clothes just as Miran arrives. "What are you doing?" he asks. Sultana explains that "the girl left the house," so there's no need to keep her clothes. Miran is furious. He insists that Reyyan will be back, and all the clothes should be put back. From now on, no one is to enter his room without his permission. Moreover, Sultana has crossed the line. He tells her she must leave for Kars. He then storms out. After he has left, sultana tells Azize that she's not going to Kars. Azize tells her to go for 4 or 5 days, Get some rest. Then she'll send someone to bring her back. Sultana replies, "If I go to Kars, we all have to go." Azize asks why she says this. Sultana whispers something in Azize's ear. Azize looks quite troubled.

Miran is on the balcony looking out over the city. Elif comes and asks whether he's OK. "No, Elif, not at all. It looks like Reyyan renounced me, but I haven't renounced her. I can't reach her. I feel desperate. I know her father is lying, but..." Looking very unhappy, Elif suggests, "Maybe Reyyan will listen to me." Miran thanks her but says no one can help. Elif replies, "Trust me, everything will be OK. She will look at you the way she used to."

Hazar and Zehra are talking. He says that if going far away will give Zehra peace, then perhaps they should do that. "But what would we do?" he asks. "And what would happen after we die? We leave not just land and property, we also leave the legacy of our lives. What will our children and grandchildren be told about us? That their father was a murderer who dishonored an innocent girl. I didn't do it, but my poor children will have to live with the shame. If we leave now, we'll never rid ourselves of the false accusations, not even in death." Reyyan has been outside the room, whose door is slightly open, and she hears the entire conversation. She says under her breath, "I promise you, papa, I won't let anyone say anything bad about you ever again."

We see Esma walking on the street outside the konak. As she walks, she remembers the conversation she had with Firat. After a while, she seems not to be feeling well. I half expected her to collapse, but she didn't.

Reyyan, too, is walking. She hears what her father has told her and what Miran has told her. Thinking of her father, she declares, "No one will sepak ill of you again. I'm going to prove your innocnece, first to Miran, then to the world."

It seems to be Worried Women's Walking Day. Elif, too, is walking on the street. As she walks, she remembers Miran's expressions of frustration.

Miran comes into Reyyan's room. He finds the compact he gave her (to replace the one that was damaged?). He opens it, looks in the mirror, and sees her smiling. "Don't leave me, Reyyan. Say that you won't give up." He hears a voice say "Please don't despair. This too shall pass." No, it's not Reyyan, it's Azize, who always manages to turn up at key moments.

Zehra has found Gul sitting outside the konuk and has her go inside. While Zehra is still outside, someone calls to her. It's Esma. She reaches into her clothes and pulls out what I assume is Dilsah's second letter. She hands it to Zehra and says, "It's a request from Dilsah. It's time that Hazar learned the truth. Give him this letter. Tell him Esma had to go far away, and she took her son with her. Tell him not to search for us. Tell him this will clear his name so that he can save his daughter...and his son." On this dramatic note, the episode ends.

Excellent recap Juanita! Finally, we get a reveal, or at least Zerah does, to move the story along. I am glad Esma, after listening to Firat talk about his childhood prayers and the fact that either he or Miran were going to get killed, decided to do the right thing. Although, I wish she would have given the letter to Hazar or Reyyan directly. I don’t trust Zerah with this information.

Until we start hearing some different conversations, I am good FF through the repetitive dialogue. The scene where Reyyan was talking and the background singing to the dead rose bush, was done well. I liked the back and forth between her talking and Miran walking down the road. At least Telemundo kept part of the Turkish song in that scene. It is shameful that Zerah can stand there watching her poor daughter suffer like that.

“It seems to be Worried Women's Walking Day” very clever Juanita. I had to watch the Turkish version of this part of the episode because is seemed very disjointed and I assumed that Telemundo cut out key parts, but nope, it was exactly the same as what we watched last night. At least now we know where Esma was going. Guess we have to wait and see where Reyyan and Elif are going.

“He finds the compact he gave her (to replace the one that was damaged?).” I think Miran fixed the original one that was damaged when Reyyan was kidnapped. I remember Reyyan seeing it on the night stand and being happy that Miran had fixed it, until she saw HAG, standing behind her, in the mirror.

Thank you Juanita! I enjoyed the recap!

Steve, not sure who you are referring to as Sebastian’s best friend? Aurelio? Aurelio’s love/ partner is Maracucha, one of Gaviotas BF. Maracucha has a son, pre teen, from a previous relationship that came with her to the finca.

Thanks very much, VVS, for your insightful and helpful comments. I too would MUCH rather Esma had given the letter to Hazar or Reyyan. I don't trust Zehra, and I fear that Esma's having given the letter to Zehra will result in more obstacles. But, as you say, at least the episode had some reveals (or, at least, potential reveals). And perhaps also one new mystery: what did Sultana whisper to Azize that clearly unsettled her?

As I was writing the recap, I wondered about the compact. I was sure that the original one had been broken in the kidnapping, and I thought I remembered Miran somehow fixing it, but I wasn't at all sure. Thanks for making clear that it was the same one.

I have to confess, I had a terrible time with the recap last night. Or, rather, with one program on my computer--the one in which I write the recaps and then paste them into the box. Twice, I had started to write the recap, only to have the program stop working part-way through and close down. I finally had to switch to my husband's computer to write the recap, and then return to my computer to post the three parts. I haven't yet had the courage to see whether the glitch still exists.

“I absolutely hate it when my boring real life thinks it's more important than my TFL, my Telenovela Fantasy Life.” -- Andy Banda Thanks, Andy, ITA.

Sorry, I had to catch up. Thanks so much, VVS, for another snarky Monday special. “puts her hands over her ears (and we do too)” “HAG is taking her daily dose of Evil Pills”.

“Zerah shoves her daughter’s life into her ugly sweater pocket.” I really hate Zehra.

I really liked Reyyan turning the tables on GT by asking what went on between him and HAG and what happened with Dilsah. “Dilsah” is the magic word.

Great Tuesday recap, Juanita. Thank you carrying on in spite of technical difficulties.

I read what I could in the letter. My Turkish isn’t very good. Dilsah wasn’t sure she should write, but it’s hell. And she’s afraid (of something). I also saw, “Miran senin oğlun Hazar” – Miran is your son. Yep, it’s that letter. I will be very shocked if Zehra willingly hands it over to Hazar. I just hope it doesn’t get destroyed. What the heck happened to the other letter?

I’d love to know what Sultana whispered to Azize.

Thanks very much, dondi356, for confirming that the letter is indeed the one in which Dilsah tells Hazar that Miran is his son. And yes, I definitely share your apprehensions about the letter's fate in Zehra's hands.

Loved your "Lather, rinse, repeat… we are running out of telenovela shampoo." I hope that the danger of running out will prompt more intelligent use of the shampoo that remains...not wasting it on the same old same old.

We missed you yesterday dondi356! Thank you for always providing the Turkish translations and music links! I also wonder what Sultana whispered to Azize. "Lather, rinse, repeat… we are running out of telenovela shampoo." Too funny and yes, we are.

I really dispose Zerah.

I did not watch dondi356. It didn't really appeal to me in any way. If you did, I would be interested in your first impression.

Juanita, thanks for bringing us every frustrating moment .

Maybe Sultana told Az that she got that letter and knows what's in it.

Epi 70 , Part1

We open where we left off, Esma entrusting Zehra with the 2nd letter written by Dilsah to Hazar. Zehra can’t believe it when Esma states the letter will not only clear Hazar but will save both his daughter and son, pointing out the Hazar is Miran’s true father. This revelation leaves Zehra stunned.

Back in the ReyMir room… Azzie pretends to care about Miran and his desire to win back Reyan. To save herself (from Sultana), Azzie suggests to Miran that he allow Sultana to stay on at the mansion but he’s not having it. Azzie pretends she’s concerned about the family being separated and at risk and this angle finally sways him.

When Azzie takes her leave, Reyan appears in the court yard calling for Miran. He’s happy at her arrival and does not see the sternness in her. He finally glances down at her hand holding the divorce papers but still looks hopeful….until she explains she’s not there to reconcile. She’s there for her father and she will clear his name with the missing letter. Miran still doesn’t get it, going on about all he will do to please her. She finally leads him out of the courtyard onto the street.

Back on the other street Zehra tries to wish the letter and it’s truths away by telling Esma it’s a lie…it can’t be…Miran is not Hazar’s son. Esma tells her Azzie knows everything…not only that Hazar is Miran’s bio dad but she knows Hazar is not Reyan’s real father…she’s planned it all. She leaves Zehra on the street worried, trembling and reading the letter in which Dilsah apologizes to Hazar for having not told him the truth. Dislah’s life is hellish but Miran is Hazar’s son and if something happens to her, he should come and get their son.

(I don’t know about the patio but I’m willing to bet Zehra doesn’t turn that letter over because it will force her to reveal the truth to Reyan about her real dad, and to accept Miran….and I think she’s too selfish to do that. Rats…Esma should have given Hazar that particular letter first). Oh well..Esma continues her walk home reliving the conversation she had with Firat about the letter…Miran and one of them dying. She leaves it up to God to protect her sons.

Elif is walking down the street mumbling to herself that Reyan will know the truth. But she runs into Esma who stops her wondering why she’s not back at home. Elif explains she needs to tell Reyan that Miran is innocent but Emsa deters her explaining it’s too dangerous. She begs Esma to let her continue on to Reyan but Esma successfully redirects her home.

With Sultana following behind her with her usual smug look, Gonul walks up to Azzie asking her what’s so important about the letter and if she knew about it. Sultana provides speculative commentary while Firat looks on from below. Azzie relives Reyan’s words regarding the missing letter and then calls Firat to meet her in her room. He doesn’t take the time to respond to Gonul so she goes over to her mother wondering why she’s looking so relaxed with the letter floating around. She reminds her mom that she once told her the marriage between ReyMir would be scandalous but a smug Sultana informs her that they will soon part and go their respective way.

Epi 70, part 2

Azzie questions Firat over the letter so he explains Miran doesn’t believe the letter exists and that’s why he didn’t report it to Azzie. When he leaves her room, she worries that the same person who’s been sending her notes is behind the letter. Who could it be…and what do they want from her.

Outside the hospital ReyMir are sitting on the bench discussing the letter. She is anxious about the letter but Miran is anxious about her and their relationship. She is determined to find it but he cautions her not to act as if her life depends on some letter. She reminds him it is important because it proves her father’s innocence. He pulls her to him reminding her that are married whether she likes it or not and she should stop treating him like some criminal…..he’s on her side. As they go inside the hospital, we see someone watching them from a car.

Zehra walks inside with the letter in hand, reliving her hospital discussion with Hazar about the other letter. She wonders if Hazar read the letter she has and starts to fret about what Hazar would do if he knew the truth about Miran. She rereads the part about Miran being Hazar’s son. She doesn’t want to believe wondering what to do. (the patio knows it won’t be the right thing for ReyMir)

Esma and a distraught Elif return home only to run into Sultana in the courtyard. She gives them the 3rd degree so Elif explains she intended to see Reyan so Sultana drags her to her room and interrogates her even more. Elif cries and explains she didn’t get to see her and she’s said nothing to anyone. But she does intend to tell Reyan the truth. She has a mini breakdown but Sultana tells her she knows she’s good person but if she speaks, it will only make things worse and it will endanger Miran. It’s over because Reyan is home now but Elif is still torn. Sultana suggests to Elif that she wouldn’t want to be responsible for Miran’ s death. This agonizes Elif even more and at this moment, Azzie burst in the room wanting to know what’s happening. Sultana spins a story and leaves, satisfied that she’s maintained control over the situation.

Back in her room, Esma frets over the letter, asking God for help. She pulls out her phone about to dial but tosses it aside, crying. Zehra goes to Hazar who is still rehabbing but can tell something is wrong with her and it frightens him. She finally sits and starts with the ‘how bad she feels’ for what they’re doing to ReyMir. He agrees that while their intentions were good, they were wrong. She eyes the 2nd letter and then spins her web…asking Hazar what he thinks Miran would do if he knew the truth about his fall. He’d never forgive them and would only hate more. Hazar thinks about asking Miran for forgiveness since he’s Dislah’s orphaned son. It was the reason he agreed to the marriage so he could look out for him. But he realizes how deep the hate has been planted in Miran and they should keep the families separated. This conversation makes Zehra realize that the letter she has in hand, is not the same letter that Hazar lost because he doesn’t know he’s Miran’s dad.

Their conversation is interrupted when Gul comes in to cheer dad up by doing artwork with him. Zehra looks guilt ridden when Gul mentions a conversation she had with Reyan where Reyan praised her parents. (Zehra will have this guilty look for the rest of the show).

Miran drops Reyan back at home and tries one last appeal but she doesn’t give in. He follows her from the car but she tells him there is no “us” without the truth reminding him his actions and hate destroyed their relationship. He tells her she’s not being fair so she reminds him he’s been very unfair to her father….asking him how does it feel to be innocent while everyone calls him a killer. He asks her how she can judge him when her father is lying. She doesn’t answer him but walks away saying
to herself that her father never lies (whew…she is in for a rude and painful awakening).

Epi 70, Part 3

When she goes inside, she is greeted by Azat who can tell something is wrong. When she doesn’t answer, he takes a quick look onto the street so she tells him she was at the hospital searching for the missing letter. Azat too doesn’t think the letter is real telling her not to waste her time. She will continue her search. They sit and Azat questions why the letter is so important so she explains Dislah wrote the letter to her father asking for help and it proves her fathers innocence. She wonders if Azat’s dad has the letter but Azat assures her he doesn’t and wouldn’t hold back something so important to the family. She then speculates it could be Yaren but Azat tries to deter her again telling her she’s barking up the wrong tree. She asks him to put himself in her shoes trying to defend his dad…would he stop fighting. She takes offense with Azat’s line of thinking and assumption that she only wants the letter so she can get back with Miran. He asks her if it will be that simple so she tells him his opinion is not important and goes to see Yaren. When Yaren doesn’t answer, she goes into her room to search but is busted with Yaren walks in on her.

Thanks VERY much, Nett, for another excellent Wednesday recap! You've captured everything important, including one major thing that I missed. I don't know where my brain was, but I missed Gonul's reminding Sultana that she once told her the marriage between ReyMir would be scandalous. Wow! Does this mean Sultana knows that Miran is Hazar's son, not Mehmet's? Sultana thus assumes the marriage is scandalous because she thinks Reyyan and Miran are sister and brother.

And yes, I'm sure you're right in assuming the patio have no confidence that Zehra will do the right thing. And I enjoyed your prediction that "(Zehra will have this guilty look for the rest of the show)."

I wonder who Esma was about to call. Could it have been Hazar?

I hate Azize, but she certainly knows how to stay calm and in control. She manages to get an angry Miran to let Sultana stay, and of course she has her spies watching Miran and keeping her posted, as we saw with the guy who called her.

Was anyone in Viewerville surprised when Yaren came back to discover Reyyan searching through her things? Anyone? No, I didn't think so. Of course, it echoes a much earlier episode, when Reyyan discovered Yaren in her room tearing up her wedding gown.

Again, many thanks, Nett! You've got a real gift for recapping.

Thank you Nett for this splendid Wednesday recap! So descriptively written. It looks like the search for one letter is definitely on with Reyyan. I agree with you that Zerah was the wrong person to receive the “Miran is your son” letter. I am sure she will not show it to Hazar. I just hope it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.

I was a bit confused as to why Reyyan had the divorce papers in her hand. Was her plan to have Miran sign if he didn’t agree to join forces with her? I wasn’t sure if he really knew what she had in her hand. I would have expected a total meltdown if he did see it was divorce papers.

I thought it was funny that all the Aslanbey cockroaches (carmella we miss you!) thought it was okay to listen in on ReyMir’s conversation in the courtyard. Sultana even took a load off and sat down.

So now someone is having ReyMir followed. It didn’t seem to be Mahmoud, Azize lead henchman. Could it be one of Nasuh’s hired killers?

“She doesn’t answer him but walks away saying to herself that her father never lies (whew…she is in for a rude and painful awakening).” Reyyan is going to be devasted and if she finds out at the same time that Hazar isn’t her bio dad (I wonder who is?) I am not sure she will forgive him, ever.
I am pretty sure Yaren has the first Dilsah letter. Like you Juanita, I was not at all surprised that Yaren busted Reyyan searching through her things. I am sure there will be some fireworks tonight! Reyyan is in a mood, so Yaren best keep clear.

Nett, thank you again. The Wednesday Nett Special is terrific!

Excellent recap, Nett. Thanks so much.

This ep wasn’t so bad.

Yes, too bad Esma couldn’t put the letter in Hazar’s hand. There was no way she could enter the konak. She might have been able to sneak into the hospital.

I don’t know what’s worse, Zehra’s guilty look or her hysterical look. Similarly irritating.

I hope Esma is phoning Dilsah to come back from the dead. I’d like to see Hazar be with his true love. And let’s resurrect Zehra’s husband, too, and have him take her far, far away.

Azize is hateful, but she’s a great villain and Ayda Aksel plays the part so well.

Dondi, maybe we will get a new look from Zehra ....hysterically guilty.

As for Az, I mostly look forward to what color her next hoodie will be . Last night's majenta was a flattering color on her . The eye makeup is intense . Neither of my grandmothers ever wore makeup , but AZ really trowels on that eyeliner .

OT. ..Dondi ..I am around Episode 137 in KPA. I still love it but wonder what more the writers can do to the poor , long suffering , Star crossed lovers. Uff
