Fatmagul #57 part 1

Resat discovers that Erdo and Selim have left the house. Resat tries to contact Selim. Selim has his phone on him and Erdo calls him an idiot. He gets rid of the sim card, maybe the entire phone? Resat calls Erdo. Erdo’s phone rings in the house. Did they run away? Yep. Selim left a note for his parents—we had no choice. This is best for everyone. Pray for us.

Erdo berates Selim for his stupid moves.

Slight cut at the start: Fatma comes out of her room. No one is upstairs. They are downstairs getting to know the new bodyguard, Mirzat. His family emigrated from Yugoslavia and he lost his parents in the Gölcük earthquake. Fatma comes downstairs. She meets Mirzat. He will be with her wherever she goes. Mirzat leaves the house to watch outside. Fatma asks if there is any news. No. Wow, those unhappy looks Fatma and Kerim give to each other.

Musto sleeps in some abandoned building while his “rescuers” look at a newspaper article about him. The rescuers think he will bring them trouble. They talk of turning him in for a reward but then they worry about getting busted for helping him.

Musto wakes and wants to see the paper. He tells them not to let anyone know he’s there. He will give them money. He asks them to get him a telephone. The old man with the kids says what Musto needs is a doctor. One of the kids has a phone and hands it over.
Munir covers their tracks on the shoe factory confession incident. Now they have to find the boys.

Musto calls Munir. He steps out of the room to take the call. We heard, he tells Musto, everyone knows. Musto asks for help. No one can help you now, Munir replies. We see cops listening in on the call. I’m dying, Musto says. Munir asks, where are you? Near Riva, please hide me. Munir says there is no safe place for you now. We did all we could for you, but that’s it. Musto threatens, then I’ll make sure there is no safe place for you either. Munir is angry—save your own butt before you threaten anyone else. If you don’t help me, you will regret it, Musto says. Rot in hell, is Munir’s response.

Peri enters the room. That was Mustafa—he threatened you, right? He’s going to kill our children? No, Munir replies. Peri cries.

The cops are going to send a copy of the convo to the prosecutor.

Musto throws the phone in a fire. He tells them he will buy them a new one.
The old man, Bahri, is concerned about Musto’s condition. He manages to get him up to bring him somewhere for better treatment.

The two rotten ricos continue their road trip avoiding the highway and cameras.

Bahri wheels Musto in a cart used to pick up cardboard for recycling. [did anyone see the movie “Paper Lives” on Netflix?] Musto has his gun aimed at the guy.

Ender’s run into a little trouble. The other partners are not happy about being connected to rapists and murderers. One calls Ender out about using them for revenge against the Yasarans. Meltem says, you knew about our connection to the Yasarans. Yes, he replies, but we thought this would be about business only.

Mustafa Nalcali was hired by you, he says. What are his qualifications? What does he do other than intimidate the Yasarans? Ender says her husband trusted this man. But we were wrong. The man says they were fooled into taking this partnership. Our reputation will be ruined for your revenge. We are terminating the agreements. Good luck. The lawyers will talk.

Cut: Kerim can’t stay and wait at the house. He gets his coat. Muka catches him. He tells her he’s going to the police station. She tells him Fatma will be upset. She can’t stop him. Fahr talks to Deniz who’s heard the news. He assures her everyone is fine, it’s not as bad as she’s heard and he’s staying to help Kerim set up a new business.

Fatmagul #57 part 2

Sami has brought Fahr to see Hacer. He cautions Fahr to go easy on her. She’s like a sister to me, Sami says. Fahr smiles, don’t worry and adds, you’re a good guy. Hacer is not in the apartment. Sami’s neighbor tells him she left with some kids. Did they take her by force? He doesn’t know. Fahr thinks they work for Munir.

Fahr calls Kerim and tells him they took Hacer from Sami’s apartment, and they don’t know where she is. We see the cops listening in. Kerim says the Yasarans took her because they don’t want her to talk. Fahr asks Kerim where are you? He says he’s going to buy stuff for the restaurant. Fahr tells him he’s heading to the police station.

Yasar is let go. Omer objects saying he admitted he helped Mustafa and that explains that the Yasarans are involved. The cop tells him they are following the orders of the prosecutor. Omer continues to argue his case but loses.

Cut: Kadir calls Omer and says he has big news. Come to the office.

Cut: Neziye has made a house call to Fatma. Session has ended. Muka invites her to sit and have tea. Rahmi asks Fatma if she is okay. She nods slowly. She asks for Kerim. He went to the police station, Rahmi replies. She asks Muka. He left in haste, I couldn’t stop him. Fatma looks out her window and reporters’ cameras immediately start clicking below.

Fatma is worried and Rahmi makes a call to Kerim, who has pulled over. Fatma wants to know where you are, he says. I’m going to the police station, he replies, I thought I’d go to see if there’s any news. Fatma shakes her head in disbelief. Rahmi asks if he is telling the truth. I will be very upset if you do something on your own. Fatma wants him to come home. Kerim says he’s driving, he will inquire, then come home. Don’t worry. end cut.

Resat’s got Ender over a barrel. You can’t break the agreement, he tells her. We won’t give any money back and will take legal action. Blah, blah, blah. There’s more if you want to discuss, be my guest.

Kerim BS’s his way into development where Yasarans live. He keeps watch.
Some old woman treats Musto. He’s not doing well. Cut: Musto gives the woman the key to his car and tells her to sell it and keep the money in return for helping him. Save me, he begs her.

Peri calls Yadigar. It’s time to use what I gave you. The Turaner evidence.
It’s evening and Fatma worries by the window. No one has returned home. She thinks something happened and they are hiding it from her. Fahr returns home. Fatma hurries to open the door. She asks, where is Kerim. He tells Fatma to put on her coat, he’s taking her someplace. It’s a surprise. He asks Meryem to come, too. Meryem asks about Kadir. He’s waiting, Fahr replies. Hurry we will be late.

We see Yadigar leaving the police station. She tells Peri she did what was asked. The cops are listening in. Anything else, Yadi asks? No.

Hilmiye tells Resat she thinks someone is downstairs in the house. Meanwhile Peri has a bag packed and walks out of her room. Resat checks out the downstairs with Munir and comes face to face with Kerim.

They cut some more of the two idiots on the run in a fleabag hotel.

Cut: the old woman gives Musto some trotter soup. Prolly lamb or beef. They don’t eat pork. He makes a face as he eats. The woman asks him why he is on the run. Enemies, Musto replies. The woman says, maybe you are the enemy. He tells her we will see which one I am.

Back to Kerim at the Yasarans. Munir says he’s calling the cops. Go ahead, Kerim tells him, I want to hear from you what Hacer told the police. Explain to me why you took Mustafa to the shoe factory and why you kept silent after finding out he was a murderer. Everything you did will come to light. Resat orders Kerim to leave. I’ll go, Kerim replies, but I won’t go alone. Where are the little snakes, Erdo and Selim? At the company, Resat replies.

Fatmagul #57 part 3

Munir calls Yasar. Good, call everyone you manipulated with your disgusting hands, Kerim says. I am not afraid, it’s time to settle accounts. Who are you to call me into account, Resat answers, as if you were not the one who took money from us. Kerim admits his mistake. None of us would have suffered if you had kept your mouth shut, he tells Kerim.

Kerim says, you gave that man a gun to kill me. You knew if I died, Fatma would be alone, and you’d be able to silence her. Mustafa told me everything. You can’t prove anything, Resat says. Munir jumps in, Musto is a lunatic, and you are no better than him. Then let me give you the good news, Kerim says, the police have all the evidence they need to incriminate you. Right, Perihan Hanım? All eyes on Peri.

The doorbell rings. Kerim says that must be Selim and Erdo. Let’s open the door. Kerim leads the way.

The cops arrive at the Yasarans and so does the car with Fatma and family.

The cops arrest Resat. We get a flashback. Kadir calls Kerim. Please don’t go and do anything stupid on your own. Our phones have been tapped. The cops know exactly where you are. Wait for their call, continue with the instructions they give you. okay? Hacer told the cops about Mustafa and the Yasarans. End flash.

Resat is cuffed. He is read his rights. Peri hands him the packed bag. He is taken away. Fatma and Meryem are there to see it. They cut the end. Kerim and Fatma smile at each other and embrace. This was the end of Turkish ep 65

Erdo and Selim are eating in a café and see the news report. Their names are mentioned. They hightail it out of there.

Resat gives his side of the story. It’s a conspiracy, blah, blah, blah. The prosecutor says it was your wife that made the accusations. Resat tries to shift blame onto Erdo.

Munir is questioned. Why didn’t you tell the police about the call from Mustafa? Munir replies, Mustafa is a murderer, and he had a gun. I was afraid. We heard your recorded conversations, the prosecutor says. You spoke about joint activities. This case will be merged with Fatmagul’s case. You got Mustafa to confess to Vural’s murder and you hid it from us. Nothing to explain, Munir answers, I didn’t do it. Where are Erdogan and Selim? No idea. The prosecutor warns Munir he can be disbarred [whatever that Turkish equivalent is] if found guilty and he will never practice law again. [a good thing]

Ender and Meltem see Yasemin being brought in. You will get what you deserve, Ender tells her. My only crime is responding to his love, Yasemin replies.

Peri is called to see the prosecutor. Kadir wants a minute. He asks Peri to tell about the Fatma’s case. The cases will be merged, and you’ve come this far. The truth will eventually come out. It’s important that you talk. Kadir walks away and Hilmiye begs her not to tell all. Peri would rather the boys get caught before Musto can get to them. Hilmiye says don’t mention Fatmagul.

Resat walks out of the office and tells Peri we will divorce. You stabbed me in the back.
The Bahri and woman talk about selling the car.

Mustafa dreams about Fatma pointing a gun at him while he holds an ax over Kerim. You can’t kill me, he says. Tell me you don’t love him, tell me you love me. Fatma drops the gun and says, I love you Mustafa. I love you so much. He hugs her. I’ve always loved you. Let’s go. Kerim is left behind, he picks up the gun and shouts for Fatma. Musto wakes up. The old lady gives Musto some medicine.

Cut: Erdo buys a new phone.

Fatmagul #57 part 4

Erdo calls his mother. He asks what’s the deal with the arrests. Hilmiye tells him you are wanted, too. Peri gave evidence on the Turaner case. And Mustafa’s wife talked. She said Mustafa killed Vural and the Yasarans knew. She tells them to stay away. Mustafa is on the loose as well. Erdo says, this is my new phone don’t give anyone the number and don’t call unless you have to. Erdo keeps telling her not to worry, they are innocent. The cops are listening to all of this. Erdo shares the info with Selim.

Hacer and Sami leave the prosecutor’s building and she spots her husband from Germany. He found me, Sami! Sami checks him out. Hacer tells Sami he will kill me. Meltem walks by an eavesdrops. Hacer wants Sami to leave. No way is Sami leaving her. Meltem goes outside and looks at the guy.

Rose Kitchen is busy. The customers are very interested in Fatma and her case. They want to take pictures to post online to show they were at Fatma’s restaurant. They mention Mustafa and hope he’s caught soon. It’s like a tourist attraction.

Kerim and Fahr are with the cops in a cemetery. The cops say they tracked Musto through here. Fahr says there’s not much here, they should go, and they get in the car. We see the kids who found Musto lurking. Fahr spots them, so they get out of the car. The kids start running. Kerim heads them off. They say, we did nothing, we know nothing. Fahr tells them to calm down, we are not police. Kerim says they just have some questions.

Cut: Fatma is home with Muka, who can’t resist shooting off her mouth. Is Neziye coming today? Yes. Good, Muka says, if there’s anyone who can help you, you and Kerim, it’s her. God knows how you two were affected by the kidnapping. It even was hard for us. God knows how difficult it was for you. Experiencing all the old memories and fears again. And it’s put some distance between you and Kerim. Fatma says that’s not true, we are fine. I hope so, Muka replies, I wish the best for both of you. You worked so hard to get this close. Fatma says there is no problem between us. Muka knocks on wood and leaves.

Sami says the husband is gone. Hacer is still in a panic. Sami asks if she wants to file a complaint. She doesn’t want to.

Kadir comes over to Hacer. He tells her the judge wants to hear her testimony. Just tell them what you said to the police and the prosecutor. Sami tells Kadir there’s another problem. Hacer reluctantly fills Kadir in on the not quite ex-husband. She cries. What do I do? Looks like Kadir is willing to help her somehow.

Fahr and Kerim talk to the kids. Fahr starts, you may have seen someone and helped them out of kindness. That’s normal, it’s not a crime. Now that you know this man is guilty, Kerim adds, you will be considered guilty as well. Fahr says if you tell us the truth, we won’t tell the cops about you. They stick with the story, they know nothing. Fahr says they know he (Musto) made a call from around here. The kids look at each other.

Kerim tells them this man killed someone and injured me. One kid says we know, we read it in the newspaper. You knew, Kerim asks, did he come here and ask you for help? The other kid comes clean, he told us if you help me, I’ll give you a lot of money. He didn’t give us any. Fahr gives them money and says now tell me. The kids talk. They tell him about Bahri taking Musto. Where did he take him, Kerim asks?

We see Bahri talking to a mechanic. What if I have a car that I want stripped and sold for parts? The mechanic says he knows nothing about that stuff. Bahri is certain he does. But the mechanic tells him to leave.

Cut: Erdo ditches his phone in a truck.

Fatmagul #57 part 5

The one of the kids take Fahr and Kerim to where a recycling place is. Kerim gets out to investigate. The kid takes off. Kerim asks some guys there if they know Bahri. They don’t know. People bring the recyclables here, it’s just business. Kerim says Bahri has a cart… but the guy motions to a whole bunch of other carts just like Bahri’s.

The old woman comes out of her house next door. She sees Fahr across the street and Kerim talking to the recyclers. She goes back in the house and tells Musto the cops are outside. Musto looks out the window and sees Fahr.

Fahr wants to question the woman. Maybe she knows Bahri. Fahr knocks on the door and the woman hides Musto as best as she can. We are looking for a man named Bahri, Fahr says. She doesn’t know who that is. The boys at the coffeehouse said he stays here, he tells her. Why would I let a man I don’t know in my house, the woman asks? Maybe he is a friend, Fahr asks? I live alone, she replies. The woman gets offended and goes on and on. I’m not like the women you know, she tells him.

Kerim is ready to tell his father let’s go, when he sees the car key hanging on hook inside. Kerim takes a quick peek inside and then tells Fahr lets go. He apologizes to the woman. Don’t come back, she says.

Kerim tells Fahr that Musto is in that house. I saw his car keys. Let’s call the police.
Kerim calls Kadir, we found Musto in a house near Riva. Kadir says don’t do anything stupid. Don’t worry, we’ll call the police. Give me the address, Kadir says. Hacer hears Kadir say they found Musto. Kadir shares this info with the prosecutor.

Cut: Muka tries to get a very depressed looking Fatma interested in talking about the wedding and looking at bridal magazines. Fatma starts crying. Muka quickly takes the books away. Fatma can’t stop sobbing. Muka calls Meryem, but she’s busy at the restaurant.

Munir tells Resat nothing is going to happen. Resat says, we were arrested, how can you say nothing is going to happen? Munir says we will deny the accusations. You won’t give me away. We will repeat the same testimony we gave here. Be careful, the smallest mistake and we’re done. Munir says he had nothing to do with the Turaner incident. Resat counters, just like I had nothing to do with Musto’s confession.

Stake out at the old woman’s house. She wheels a cart out to the street the cops grab her. Is Musto in the cart? Nope. The cops question her and search her house. You won’t find anything, she says. Kerim comes in and asks where is the car key? She plays dumb, what key? A cop finds a bloody bandage. You’re coming with us a cop tells the woman.

She protests, I didn’t do anything wrong. He had a gun. He entered my house by force and then he left. I don’t know where he went. I’m an old woman, I was scared. I had to hide him.

Musto is in the back seat of a car. Some guy is driving and Bahri is a passenger. Somehow they rescued Musto just in time. They have a police radio in the car and hear about the police blocking roads in and out of Riva. This man isn’t helping them out of kindness. He wants Musto’s car. Musto says there are probably police around it now. The guy says just tell me where it is and leave it to me. Bahri wants his share, too.

Fatma doesn’t feel like talking to Neziye today. Neziye says she knows it will help. Fatma thinks it will hurt more if she puts it into words. Neziye won’t pressure her. Fatma says she has no desire to do anything. Neziye says that’s natural after all you’ve been through. You had a new trauma, you experienced violence again.

Fatmagul #57 part 6

He asked me what would hurt Kerim the most, Fatma says. He was going to put me through the same torture just to hurt Kerim. He told me I had married one of them. I told him Kerim wasn’t one of them and he shouted that he was. Do you agree with him, Neziye asks? No, but he tortured me by reminding me of that night.

Did you tell Kerim how you felt, Neziye asks? No. Has this incident affected your relationship with Kerim? I don’t know, Fatma replies, but I want to keep moving forward with Kerim. I don’t want to go backward. So is this how you felt after what happened with Mustafa? Like you were going backwards? Fatma doesn’t want to talk anymore. Neziye says that’s okay.

The cops take the old woman. Fatma calls Kerim. Why are you still following Musto? Let the police do it. Don’t scare me like this. Don’t worry, he says. Don’t you remember what happened the last time, she asks? You know this is dangerous. Kerim tells Fatma that Musto got away. Fatma really wants Kerim to come home. He says he’s on his way.

The car guy stops on some dirt road in the middle of nowhere. He asks Musto, where is your car? Musto says in some parking garage. He can barely speak. Car guy thinks that Musto is dying and doesn’t want him dying in his car. Musto begs for help. Bahri says maybe we can drop him at a hospital. The car guy isn’t interested in saving Musto, he just wants the car. He drags Musto out of the car and leaves him on the ground. Bahri doesn’t like this, but he gets in the car with the guy and they drive away.

Musto thinks of Fatma. She asks him to come with her.

Selim thinks of happier times—the day of his engagement before they destroyed it all. He gets sad then angry. The best day of my life. You ruined it all, he blames Erdo. You gave us booze and drugs. Yeah, but you were willing Selim and Erdo reminds him of it. Selim blames Erdo’s jealousy. He wanted to sabotage his night.

Erdo stops the car and tells Selim to get out. As if I did everything on my own, Erdo shouts, wasn’t Kerim there? Vural, too? I’m the only one to blame? I’m jealous? Of who? You? If that was so, I wouldn’t take you with me. Get out! Every man for himself! Selim cries.

The cops stop the truck with Erdo’s phone. They ask the driver where he stopped. Binistri and a restaurant in Kirkaga. They let the truck driver go.

Lale is at the Yasarans. She tells Hilmiye, we are not just partners, but Peri must not know what I told you. And of course, Peri walks in on that. Peri says now I am forbidden to hear certain things. Hilmiye replies, I wonder why. Lale is sorry for what they are going through. Hilmiye says someone destroyed our family.

The doorbell rings. It’s Munir. He yells at Yadigar to leave the house. He tells Peri, unfortunately, you couldn’t lock me up.

Kadir and tells the folks at home that Munir was freed but Resat was arrested. We see Resat in his cell as Kadir explains the first trial is in a month and the court will decide to keep him in jail until then. Muka doesn’t understand why they let Munir go. Kerim says they needed someone on the outside to take care of the business.

Fatma asks wasn’t Munir’s phone tapped? Yes, Kadir says, but they denied everything. When they heard Munir, he refused to help Musto and that made him look clean. And his name is not connected to the Turaner case. Any word on Musto, Rahmi asks? No, he’s still free, Fahr says.

And we are out.

Fatmagul

Thank you Dondi for this fantastic recount of all the mounting tension! It's getting kinda of bleak everywhere in this episode.

I was totally confused by the guys taking Hacer from Sami's apartment and then she is just at the prosecutor's office? What happened? Who took her? Was it the cops? Somehow in the hoping around the timeline I lost track of that, unless it's not reconciled yet.

As horrible as Muka is and as much as she seems to hate Fatma sometimes there are other times like in this episode where you have to sort of wonder if she does actually care about Fatma....in her own really screwed up super manipulative unhealthy way.

Sami does seem like a good guy as others have pointed out, but I even as he is being his sweetest to Hacer I remember him beating and threatening her from early episodes and I wonder how they could possibly end up the closest of buddies, or possibly more which seems to be what Sami wants... this show sure is fond of exploring relationships in the unlikeliest of circumstances.

I loved, 'They cut some more of the two idiots on the run in a fleabag hotel.'

So Mustafa is full on hallucinating now? Can't say as I am surprised. He's been delusional since day 1 in was a matter of time. Have I mentioned I hope he dies?

'The gray Mafia' I like it! Fahr is certainly a good investigator and it's fun seeing him and Kerim would together!

Resat in jail!!! LMAO, love it!

Hercai - #47 – Parte 1 de 2

As I mentioned, this will not be a long recap. Telemundo, I hate you. I recorded the 6PM showing. 7 minutes of ads at the beginning and then something at the end was cut off. No clue and I’m not staying up to watch the ending at 11PM CA time.

We again see Aslan write a letter addressed to the Sadoglu konak but not the addressee. Later, after he’s been locked up by Bad Grannie, we see a flashback of his mailing it.

Firat comes to give Miran the Power of Attorney. Miran keeps begging him to stay and help him solve the puzzles. First he asks him to look into a burial.

Mahfuz comes home and finds that Aslan is not there.

We see 5 or 6 guys stuff Aslan into a room…somewhere. The HAG tells him it’s for his own good. He’ll find peace here.

Reyyan arrives to where Firat and Miran have been speaking. He tells her the olive trees are hers and also a tale about the legend of the olive tree surviving “The Flood”. There’s a lot of Miran going on and on saying sappy things to Reyyan. [Actually they’re a bit better than his usual stuff.] He says they’ll build a house here for the weekend.

Hazar is in an older car with a tape player in the middle of nowhere. He listens to Dilsuh and Ayla. She talks about the pressure of Mehmet and especially that of Azize. Dilsuh says that she went to see Azize and told her everything!

Reymir ride horses near the new property. Clearly she’s a better rider than he is. The way he bounces in the saddle, I fear for the avocados and future children.

Hazar gets out of the car to mope and weep, thus missing Dilsuh’s voice saying that she’s pregnant with his child.

Looks like Hanife is buried in the middle of nowhere. Azize plants the spindliest plant I’ve ever seen. She tells Nasuh that his grandson, Miran, is braver. He won’t let Reyyan go. There’s a flashback to some ceremony with Young Nasuh and Ayse/Azize. I still can’t figure out Turkish weddings. Looks like some words were said, maybe in Arabic. She wore a sort of veil, but they talk about getting married later.

Cihan finds an old photo of, I think, Hanife, taken at the Sadoglu farm while searching her room. When he’s caught at it by Azat, eventually he tells both Hazar and Azat that Miran wants to kill Nasuh. [He’s just assuming this because he overheard that Nasuh say he killed Mehmet.]

Miran brings Reyyan to the cabin. It’s very romantic inside, with some rose petals on the floor. [The interior of this cabin gets fancier every time they show it; now there’s a marble fireplace face!] Miran gives Reyyan a document that is her apparent enrollment in college. He’s prepared dinner.

Aslan, definitely off his meds, thinks Reyyan is there to let him out. And then he thinks that Miran has shown up to menace him.

Hercai - #47 – Parte 2 de 2

Wordlessly Reyyan conveys to Miran that she’s ready. THEY DO THE DEED!!! Dizi style, of course, very subtly and without much skin. The next morning we first see Reyyan’s face with a Scarlett O’Hara smile on it.

ReyMir come back to the konak. Esma greets them warmly, while HAG glares from above.

Sultana is packing. Azize comes in without knocking and ruins her plans. She tells here that Aslan is locked up because his love for Reyyan puts him in danger.

Firat and Miran have dug up a grave. Miran makes a lot of quick mental jumps and comes up with the empty grave meaning Aslan is not buried there as an infant. “It all began with Reyyan’s kidnapping and the note she was given.” He tells Firat that he found the crumpled drafts of notes in Aslan’s office. The notes were all accusing Azize of things. He tells Firat about seeing Aslan and Azize together. He’s certain Aslan came for revenge against Azize. Miran then says that Aslan wants his life…including Reyyan.

Reyyan starts playing house at the Aslanbey konak, asking the guards to help her. She says that she ordered some things for Sukran and she’d like to be advised when they arrive. HAG of course confronts her about daring to do anything she hasn’t approved. Reyyan lets her have it. But it’s a bit over the top the things she says to such a dangerous person. She says AA is dried up. She says no one will listen to her ever again.

At Aslan’s house Miran breaks in and finds the secret room. There’s one picture of Reyyan left and some large printing on the wall: “Your downfall will be at my hands, grandmother.” While searching Miran finds the deed for, I think, the house Aslan bought that he thought he’d live in with Reyyan.

Zehra reminds Hazar that Miran gave blood when Hazar was in the hospital. She tells him the donor might have been a close relative. Hazar says he’ll talk with the doctor.

There’s a confusing scene at the end and my recording cut off. We think Miran has found Aslan, but then see he’s at Aslan’s new house. Some random guys show up where Aslan is imprisoned and tell the guy guarding him that Azize sent them. There’s been an accident.

herc

Wow, novelera, in spite of being ill, you've done an excellent job. You've captured just about everything, and even manage some snark.

I LOVED your comment about Miran's less impressive horseback-riding skills: "The way he bounces in the saddle, I fear for the avocados and future children."

I'm not wholly sure where HAG stuffed Aslan, but I think it may have been in the house she bought. At one point, we see a flashback of Firat telling someone that no, he did not purchase a house, and it was probably Azize. So my guess is that she bought the house to hide him away. The problem is that I think what we saw of where Aslan was imprisoned was much more primitive than the house in which Miran searches for Aslan. I'm also totally confused about the person who knocks at the door and tells the guy who answers the knock (who seems to be the guy Azize put in charge of guarding Aslan) that there was an accident and he has to see Mr. Aslan. Huh? Was that somehow a ruse created by Miran? Is that how he freed Aslan at the end of the episode?

Another thing that confused me was what Hazar heard and/or didn't hear on the cassette. I thought that when he got out of the car after hearing Dilsah and Ayla talking, he turned off the cassette. So I was very puzzled when I heard Dilsah talk about Miran being her son. I wondered whether Telemundo had done a bad job of cutting. Also, we do hear Dilsah or Ayla say that she had pressed the wrong button, so it's unlikely that they would have continued to talk after they realized their conversation was being recorded. Nonetheless, like you, I had the impression that somehow the cassette kept playing after Hazar got out of the car and the two women kept talking even after they realized that they had accidentally pressed the record button.

Yes, ReyMir finally DO THE DEED! The only way I was really sure is that we see that Reyyan apparently isn't wearing her nightgown in the morning (though we see little more than her bare shoulder) and we see that Miran isn't wearing the top of his pajamas. Sigh.

Like you, I thought Reyyan was dangerously foolish in being so openly contemptuous of Azize. Apparently doing the deed has damaged her common sense.

Miran, too, seemed to act unwisely after doing the deed, but in his case, that's nothing new. Still, I was puzzled and annoyed when he went to Aslan's house looking for him, encountered Mahfouz, and with no provocation head-butted him in the nose.

After Miran seems to leave, Mahfouz calls Asiye to tell her that Miran was looking for Aslan and Aslan had disappeared. I was interested to hear Asiye say that "we must inform the lady at once." So there's another mention of the mysterious lady who seems to be the person in charge.

We don't see Miran actually freeing Aslan, but in the episode's last scene, Miran arrives at the Aslanbey konak as Sultana is about to leave. Miran tells Azize that he has brought Gonul with him. In walks Gonul. Miran then tells Azize that he wanted to bring one more person...her grandson, Sultana's son, Aslan Aslanbey. Aslan enters and slowly strides up to Azize, who seems to be trying hard not to show how stunned and displeased she is. "Hola, abuela," says Aslan. The camera then focuses in turn on the faces of all the others present, and the episode ends.

Thanks VERY much, novelera, for providing a helpful and informative recap of what seemed to me a rather confusing episode.

Fatmagul

Thank you, dondi356.

Things are going downhill for the bad guys. Good. I wouldn't mind some cuts of the two idiots on the run.

Fatmagul is clinging to the hope of a happy life with Kerim. She just needs to recover from the recent events. Maybe Kerim could help her more, like playing a card game with her. It is social, light and distracts from negative thoughts.

Kerim and then Fatmagul showing up at Yasarens - theatrical. Just to increase their humiliation.

HELLOOO, Telemundo Patio!!

It's been a while, but just want to let you know that though you don't "see" me. I'm always present and read (or try to read) all the recaps and comments. I am in total awe at the detail in the recaps despite illnesses and other setback (i.e., RL); and the comments are top-notch with so much insight and thought-provoking comments. Special kudos to those who are providing additional info and the numerous scenes that Telemundo is cutting, especially to "Fatmagul." I can relate to your frustration!

HERC

Novelera, on the previous page you commented on the "new" house Sukran is living in. IIRC, the ground level home with the blue door burned down...and again, IIRC, it burned down when Sukran rushed out and knocked over a candle (I don't recall the specific details, sorry). Maybe someone can elaborate :-)

Keep up the wonderful discussions! You all ROCK!!!

Dear Chickie....Hey, you rock!!! I have been reading the old recaps on Amor Eterno. Thanks !! I hope you get around to watching Fatmagul someday . I know that you will love it.

Hercai

Novelera, thank you for a great recap of all the ....stuff that happened in this episode . I hope that you are feeling better today .

Aslan seems to be as nutty as his mother and sister. Que lastima.

Bad Gram imprisons him to "protect" him since he is her " for realz" nieto. Did Azz always believe that Mir wasn't her real nieto? I am getting so confused.

On a brighter note (?) , Rey and Mir do their usual mating dance ....but this time ....yes. For me, the rose petals and Mir's s!y grin gave me the signal...that and Math pawing the ground with his hoofs. Turkish dizis are very discreet , so viewers are often unsure...did they , or didn't they ? Will this create a new clearheaded, patient Mir?

Hazar is wandering around listening to that old tape . Wow, I am amazed he found a car with a tape player . My 3 year old car has a CD player , but many new cars don't even have them anymore . I bought a small Studebaker radio a couple years ago that has a tape player. Technology moves fast .

FATMA

Susanlynn, already watched it and LOVED it! :-)

Herc

Thank you, novelera.

"Wordlessly Reyyan conveys to Miran that she’s ready." In the original, it took Reyyan several minutes longer to send the signals to Miran that she was ready and for Miran to decipher them.
With the romantic day before, the inspirational encouragement from Miran and the night of passion, Reyyan is flying high.

Thank you novelera! You managed to condense those 2 hrs into a good and satisfying recap! Am I glad that Miran brought the romance through some very sweet gestures——Yes! Am I glad that they finally did the deed, although they could’ve given us just a little bit more kissing and “discreet” foreplay——Yes! Still I found Reyyan way too timid in the emoting department, and that “playful” pushing him away was so unwifely after everything they’ve been through. I understand Turkish dizi’s are more about the feelings involved, but I have seen more kissing and normal adult play post lovemaking in a couple of other dizi’s I’ve seen. Maybe the whole Covid thing has added more necessary caution with those types of scenes.

Yup, Aslan is nuttier than a jar of peanut butter, and being off his meds can only serve to make matters worse. Miran came up with a lot of conclusions at Dilsah’s grave, and even though he’s right, it was just too neat a package. This tells me that more than a few things are about to come to a head cause Miran is no longer running around like a chicken with his head cut off. He’s actually thinking for once! But what is it with Azize and locking people up! Like how long is he supposed to sit in that room with a bed, no TV, no video games, and no creature comforts to speak of? She could’ve at least gave him a beautifully decorated palatial room!
He is, after all, her “beloved” grandson!

And yes I agree with you! Miran needs to stay off horses! The family jewels are at stake!! Lol…. Thanks again novelera!

Whatever I've got, it's not COVID. My PCR test came back negative. I wasn't worried about being a lot sicker. I worried because Monday is my one in-person day at the office, and I sat very close with my compañera and all-around fantastic payroll admin, Graciela, to work on a tax filing together. She's also the one I try out some odd Spanish phrasing on to see if I've got it right.

Thanks so much, Juanita, for filling in the last scene showing Aslan having gotten free. I sort of inferred that Azize hadn't sent those two guys with a thin story about an accident. And, if Miran got him out, he's definitely playing the long game. Pre-sex Miran would have either left him there or gone there to tear him limb from limb.

Maybe I'll watch that last scene online. I am feeling a bit better today, especially with the good news about my test.

Susanlynn, I loved your comment about Reyyan's horse (Mafi?) pawing the ground sending a message. Carmella, nuttier than a jar of peanut butter! Yes!

And I also didn't see a toilet in that room. But then these people never need one.

RGV, thanks for the mention of the house with the blue door burning down. I do remember seeing that candle tip over but the rest is gone from the memory banks.

Caray has functioned as it always does. The Patio fills in the blanks. I'm grateful for you all.

Herc

Thank you, novelera, for carrying out the mission, in spite of being under the weather. Glad your test was negative and I hope you are feeling better very soon. Geçmiş olsun.

There was a soccer game that cut into Hercai time last night.

I got a laugh out of “I fear for the avocados and future children”, although Miran has proven to be indestructible.

Nasuh and Ayse had a religious wedding. At least they didn’t try to dub that into Spanish! Civil marriage is the legal one in Turkey. That’s why they said they would get married later.

I felt bad for Aslan when I saw that phone go off with the medication reminder “ilaç” and he answered, “hello”?

I fear Aslan will have a bad end. Azize is cursed. So many relatives have died. Miran is better off being a Sadoglu, hopefully he will make it to the end and have an HEA with Rey.

Finally, ReyMir! Wonder if she will get pregnant immediately. I also wonder about that cabin, no running water, no toilet? Is there a pot under the bed? I try not to think about these kind of things but…

Great to see you here, Rgv Chick!

I’m giving everyone a heads up. I plan to recap but we have a nor’easter headed our way tonight. Heavy snow and high winds are expected. Don’t know if this will affect my TV reception or knock out power. And I’ll have to spend a good part of my Saturday digging out of my driveway before we head into a deep freeze. If you don’t hear from me tomorrow, you’ll know why.

herc

Thanks very much, dondi356, for explaining what the ceremony was that Nasuh and Ayse had and that the wedding that would come later (or not come, in this case) would be a civil ceremony that counted as the legal one. Thanks to for indicating that “ilaç” was a reminder for Aslan to take his medication.

I too have wondered about the cabin's lack of amenities. Given that lack and the cabin's painful history, I'm surprised that ReyMir have converted it into their lovenest.

Good luck with the nor'easter!

Thanks, dondi, for explaining the way Turks get married. I've seen a similar thing in Mexican novelas. There's a scene where they sign some sort of register, but then later have a big wedding with a priest. A man I used to work with got married 3 times. He married at San Francisco City Hall to get on his wife's health plan. [Although CA now allows domestic partners to add their SOs.] Our company has a health plan, but the wife worked at Stanford and had a fantastic one. Then he had a tiny wedding in a church in Argentina. And lastly he had a big deal wedding at a ranch in Argentina, where he's from. He told us the church there would not marry them at the ranch; it had to be done inside a church. I was invited and still want to kick myself for not going. I thought I had too much work!

I watched the soccer game (recorded) since it was the US and El Salvador. Since I record everything, I didn't realize it would have cut into Hercai. Of course I FFed through a lot of the soccer game. Once I saw the US score my interest piqued. It would be SO humiliating if we missed the World Cup two times in a row.

Fatmagul

So sorry, I’ve fallen behind again. I haven’t been able to watch Thursday’s show yet. If you want to go ahead and comment, please do so. Hopefully, if the weather doesn’t derail me, I will be able to catch up over the weekend and comment on Thursday and do a recap of the Friday show.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I enjoy reading them.

Yes, Darcy, the “young men in jeans” taking Hacer was confusing, I didn’t see anything cut. I don’t remember if that will be explained or not. But we did see Kadir taking Hacer aside when he found out about her husband trouble.

The cut fleabag hotel scene was rather funny. Erdo could have had a career as a comedian if he wasn’t a vile rapist. His jabs at Selim are “çok komik”.

novelera asked about the birds. Those are likely just another symbol of Istanbul, just like we always see the Maiden’s Tower and the Bosphorus Bridge in the interstitial shots.

So glad you LOVED Fatmagul, Rgv Chick! Now you need to see Kara Para Aşk. It's good preparation for season 3 of Embajador.

OT
Dondi, we are supposed to get some snow tonight , but supposedly not the amount that appears to be headed for the coast . We have had very cold weather this winter , but not as much snow as we usually get . I remember having many snow days off from school. Winter, bah.

AYSE AND NASUL??? ENGAGMENT PRAYER??so,They had WITNESSES , BUT later she was PRESUMED DEAD AFTER the fire.!??

Yes we heard the FATIHA [which is recited at the First/1st part of EVERY daily prayer [5’x a day if you are able]

…when I saw the Imam /cleric say: BISMILAH NIR RAHMAN NIR RAHIM [In the name of Allah- I was thinking..OKAY!!..we about about to get down to Real Business[ we can Commence from here]

And then he recites the El Fatihah...okay..!!.I was ..WHOH!! This is the engagement ceremony or compromiso..Okay!! dude was serious…!

..'However, this was not binding???!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Poor Ms. Ayşe……

..'None of the rulings of the marriage contract come into effect as a consequence of reciting al-Fatihah. Reciting al-Fatihah does not mean that the marriage contract has been completed; rather ,what matters is the proposal and acceptance with the ‘Wali’ (woman’s guardian) and witnesses. ..'The Sunnah is to recite khutbah al-haajah at the time of the marriage contract.

Hadith tradition said:
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) taught us Khutbah al-Haajah, (to be said) at weddings and on other occasions:

This is the first part of all salat prayers………Okay..!!.its was nice to heard it on spanish television and in Arabic..!!Lovey presentation ..and she was able to be present too!! To accept his proposal..!!!

Poor Ayşe. Who is that man??

Arabic to English:
“Inna al-hamada ---etc.--… Wa ashhadu an laa ilaaha ill-Allah wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa rasooluhu (Verily, all praise is to Allah, we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with Him from the evil of our own souls. Whomsoever Allah guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever Allah leaves astray, no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger).

Telemundo family ..you just said your daily /salat prayers. On the Quick tip!!.!!
Works for me!!

This compromiso was taken to heart by Ms. Azize....She SNAPPED!!!

I actually don't remember what happened on Thursday! Lol I searched my memory and came up with ??? I did watch it but so much has happened since then I am not sure....was that the day Mustafa was captured? Or was that Weds?

Anyway, wish I could be more helpful. I was traveling back home all day yesterday and I am so tired. I haven't watched Friday yet but I will today.

Fatmagul

I really don't know the last episode Unimas showed because I don't have Unimas . I don't want to spoil anything by mentioning something that hasn't been shown yet.

I guess I am safe in saying that things are unfolding and the good are supporting and helping each other while the ship is starting to sink for the rotten ricos. Sami has turned over a new leaf thanks to that money the Hacer gave to him. A sign that one good deed deserves another. Muka doesn't seem to understand this concept .These telenovelas and dizis truly are morality plays.

Kerim and Fatmagul have certainly had to face one trauma after another . They have learned to turn to each other for support and comfort.

Herc

Thank you very much, Halimacandy, for sharing what is happening during the ceremony.

I've seen this often enough on the dizis I watch. All I can says is the man and woman on the show consider themselves married. I've also seen this done when the woman is underage. So from what you say, it seems like a promise to make it legal (in Turkey, anyway) at some point.

If the relationship is consummated, it usually leads to a pregnancy and the usual drama ensues. We saw this recently on "Embajador".

I've also seen the husband say “Boş ol” three times, to divorce. I've heard that referred to as triple talaq. Maybe Halimacandy can explain.

My Friday recap will be up soon. Thanks for your patience.

Fatmagul

Thursday, 1/27 notes.

* Erdo and Selim arrived at the lighthouse. Someone knocked on the door, scaring them. It's a woman, their smuggler.
* Kerim tried to distract Fatmagul with some talk. Then he asked her if Mustafa did more to her than what she said. She said no and she didn't want to talk about bad things. Kerim gave her a long hug that even Muka's snooping and commenting on could not break.
* Late night phone call. Mustafa was caught.
* Fahr and his crew followed Musta's car and found the last people who saw him and they led police to Mustafa who was in bad shape, dreaming of Fatmagul.
* Hacer's ex husband was harassing her.
* Meryem, Fatmagul and Muka were making dolmas when Meryem laughed and remembered her wedding night in a hotel with Kadir, where the dinner was also dolmas, which she was tired making the day before. Muka started asking inappropriate questions and Meryem answered about love and being loved. How love makes you rich, you share the calm of the night, happiness, peace. Fatmagul was listening dreamily. Muka asked Fatmagul about her plans for their honeymoon. "Will you come back as happy as Meryem?" Fatmagul smiled. And here Kerim called: "Fatmagul!" and entered the kitchen. Fatmagul blushed and got nervous. Her mind was wondering. Kerim got confused. "Something happened?" Muka: "Just girl-talk about romanticism."
* Kadir was helping Hacer, she was staying in his work office.
* Resat continued in prison arguing with his cellmate.
* Some this and that with Meltem, Ender, Munir, Perihan, Hilmiye, Lale.
* Fatmagul and Kerim went for a walk in the evening. Cats were around them. He took her hand and they walked holding hands. Kerim said he was afraid when she avoided looking at him. They talked about the need to communicate. Fatmagul said "Now I know what I feel. I am confident in what I feel for you. I want to form a family with you. I want to forget all by your side. I want to be very happy. This is just the beginning. I know we will lead a beautiful life together." Kerim promised he would make her very happy. They kissed.
* Hilmiye called Erdo. Erdo and Selim were fighting. The woman smuggler threw a rock and hit Erdo in the head. She confiscated his phone. They boarded a cargo ship going to Malta.
* During Vural's murder trial Kerim is absolved and Mustafa gets 10 years for murder, 9 years for attempted murder and 3 years for kidnaping, 22 years total. In his last word Mustafa said he loved Fatmagul and asked for her forgiveness.
* Fahr, Kerim and Fatmagul talked by video call with Australia - Deniz and her mother. Fatmagul invited them to her wedding.
* Sami visited Hacer. She is waiting for an authorization to visit Mustafa.

Fatmagul

I'm going to watch Thursday and Friday today. I'll try to put up the highlights. I won't be going anywhere except to go out to shovel snow.

Fatmagul

Thanks, Lucio, for getting us started! I'll be back later.

Herc S2 #48 part 1

Miran asks, doesn’t anyone have anything to say? Aunt? Grandmother? Gonul says, you knew my brother was alive.

Azize stares at Miran and thinks, once again you ruined the game, Miran. You diverted me from my path.

Meanwhile, Gonul wants nothing to do with Aslan—he’s not my brother. Sutlana begs her not to say this and adds, I was about to tell you.

Gonul starts, my grandmother took everything from me and now, so did my mother. I sacrificed everything for my brother, mom. Desperate Sultana says, we were going to tell you, we’ll never hide anything from you again.

Azize continues to give Miran the death stare. And Miran stares right back, thinking, this house is full of children longing for their parents. Why grandmother? Why did you turn this into the Aslanbey orphanage?

Azize shouts—Enough! You are right, grandmother, Miran agrees, enough of this. I said Azize Aslanbey couldn’t be this cruel. [we told you Miran, but you didn’t listen] I was wrong. You were heartless enough to separate a baby from his mother. It wasn’t me! It wasn’t me! I didn’t separate them! Azize denies. Then who was it? Do you really think I’d be cruel enough to separate a mother from her child, HAG asks? [show of hands?] I didn’t separate them. Sultana cries.

Flashback of truth? Azize narrates the flash: when the doctor called me that night and told me my grandson would only live a few hours, I died inside. Sultana was in the operating room. I thought if my grandson smelled his mother’s scent… maybe… but they couldn’t find him anywhere. Someone took him. A woman pretended to be Azize Aslanbey. It was Fusun Aslanbey, your grandfather’s younger sister. End flash.

Gonul shouts, liar! That didn’t happen! Why would I lie, Azize asks? [no comment] I’m not deranged enough to keep my grandson away from his mother. It was Fusun who did it!
Miran asks a good question, why would she steal a dying baby? Because she didn’t know the baby was dying, Azize replies. She thought if she put Aslan against you, she’d finally have all of the Aslanbey’s power. She thought she could take all I had. That woman hated me. She never wanted me to marry your grandfather.

Azize continues, I searched for years. All I wanted was to find my grandson. I swear I never stopped searching for you, she tells Aslan. I searched until Fusun got in touch with me. She kept you alive, but she was dying. If that’s not divine justice… You were only three, when she put you in my arms. I was alone in the world with small orphans, Azize laments. What could I do? I was caught in a middle of a revenge. How would I protect Aslan? How could I expose my grandson?

Miran realizes, so while you prepared me to carry out your revenge, you kept another Aslanbey safe, securing your lineage. HAG nods yes. I did the same thing today that I did back then, she admits. I protected my lineage.

Aslan asks, you never feared having to pay for what you had done? Azize replies, if you are all going to blame me, go ahead. But blame me for the right things. I didn’t take you from your mother.

There’s always a story, Gonul says. My grandma lied to me about my brother, but you mom? You did the same thing. You hid my brother, too. Gonul looks at Aslan… and you? You agreed. Aslan wants to explain but Gonul doesn’t want to hear it. I went to your house and spoke to you and let me leave like I was a stranger. I’m not your sister. I have a brother, but you are not him. Gonul turns to Firat, please take me to the hotel. They leave. Sultana is in tears. I begged you Aslan…

Herc S2 #48 part 2

You wanted to protect me, grandmother, Aslan says, but you couldn’t. You hurt me worse than the people you call your enemies. He turns to leave. Sultana begs him to stay. The Sadoglus will get you. Sultana wants Miran to do something. He’s your cousin. Rey gives Mir a look, too.

Azize calls out to Aslan. He turns and says, this is your house, not mine, grandmother. I’m a stranger to everyone here, thanks to you. Aslan leaves the konak. Sultana sobs.

Miran comes to see Azize in her room. If there was anything left unsaid downstairs, now is the time to say it. Because if I find out…. Azize interrupts, what do you want to know? Miran looks at the pictures of her sons when they were little boys that she has displayed. He picks one up. I don’t understand what you’re hiding, he says.

I told you everything I’d been hiding over the years, Azize replies. Miran sits opposite her on the bed. He says, Fusun Aslanbey… Azize tells him she’s rotting underground with her evil deeds and sins. May she burn in hell. Aren’t you worried about the same thing being said about you, Miran asks? I’d been burned in my youth, Azize answers, I’m not afraid of what’s waiting for me underground.

So since you haven’t fulfilled your revenge, Miran reasons, it’s only because of that you didn’t let Aslan be with his mother and sister. How can you live with this? Don’t you have any regret for the things you’ve done for your revenge?

Azize touches the pic of her son. This isn’t only revenge, it’s justice. You don’t hear me. In your head, everything you do is right, and you don’t apologize to anyone, correct? Why should I apologize? Yesterday’s truth cannot be today’s mistake. You need to look forward from today. I made a choice about the past. Miran responds, the decisions you made then are hurting us today. Try to understand. I won’t allow anyone to get hurt by this again. If there is anything else you want to say, now is the time.

Azize doesn’t answer that. Miran gets up to go. She calls him. Are you upset because I kept you with me and protected Aslan? Miran thinks for a moment, did you kidnap Aslan now to protect him from the revenge? Why else, she replies. Miran doesn’t know. But if you have another reason, I’ll find out, he tells her.

Miran enters his bedroom. Rey is anxious to know about his convo with Azize. He looks around the room and notices the big changes Rey made. She wanted to make things cozier, but does it matter with what’s going on? She was picking out beds when he was out risking himself. Miran is happy she is trying to make this a home for them. He likes that a lot.

Miran says that Azize only repeated what she said downstairs. That doesn’t matter, he tells Rey, only what we find out. She asks how he found Aslan. Flashback. Miran holds a gun to Aslan’s jailer and says, if you don’t want to swallow those pills, open the door now. Miran knocks him out, while Firat holds on to another guy. Miran gets the keys and opens the door. He finds a catatonic Aslan inside.

Aslan snaps out of it and starts panicking. Get me out of here! Get me out of here! Miran calms him. We came to save you. Don’t worry. Aslan is totally freaked out. end flash

Rey asks, did they give him drugs? Miran’s not sure, but Aslan seemed confused. It was strange, he looked entranced. Rey asks, did he tell you anything? Flashback. Aslan’s gone quiet again. Firat gives him water. Miran asks, why didn’t you find me and tell me everything? I’m your cousin. She wanted it this way, Aslan replies. Who? The person who gave me the information I put in those notes. I don’t know who she is either. [money’s on Fusun] She always sent someone or called on the phone. But I also wanted it this way, Aslan adds. I wanted grandma to pay for keeping me away from my family.

Herc S2 #48 part 3

Aslan continues, on the day you shot Azat, I took that vengeance from her. You were suspicious from first you saw me. What did you want me to say? I’m Aslan, the cousin you thought was dead? You sent the notes, Miran replies, you could have tried. I didn’t know you, Aslan says, if it were me, I wouldn’t believe something like this. [in diziland, anything is possible] Miran tells Firat to get Gonul and they will all go to the konak.

Aslan objects. My grandma knows something and that’s why she kidnapped me. She knows our mission or knows about the notes. She’s hiding something. I can’t go there, or she will make my mother and sister pay for it. Miran tells him she can’t make anyone pay if he’s there. She will have to account in front of everyone for how she made you suffer. Isn’t that what you want? He nods, but… Miran replies, we will do as I said. We will go with a plan. We don’t hear the plan. End flash.

We will figure it out together, he tells Rey. I’ll be patient and continue by keeping Aslan close. I have to know who dictated the notes. Rey senses something strange about Aslan. There’s something dark hiding behind his eyes and blank stare. He scares me, she says. Don’t be afraid, Miran tells her, your husband is more careful than ever. Rey says she’s not scared for them, he let his sister suffer for months. Who does that? She’s afraid of what Aslan is capable of. Miran says Aslan is just another who has been destroyed by my grandmother.

Aslan returns home and he’s on the phone with someone. We only hear his side. He says that after Miran confronted Azize, she said Fusun Aslanbey was the one who took me from my mother. What do you say about that? It’s a lie? That didn’t happen? My sister was right when she said my grandmother has a story for every circumstance. She’s distracted us with her lies. But this time we have a big surprise for her, don’t we? Fusun Aslanbey is alive. I want to tell her first. I’d love to see her face. Okay, okay. It will be as you wish. I won’t rush. Talk soon. Then to the absent HAG, you said the dead can’t come back to life, right, grandmother? But this time they have.

Azize enters Sultana’s room. You don’t stop, Sultana says. No one believed you. Everyone knows but they don’t have the nerve to slap you. I’m not here for your stupid accusations, Azize replies. But you were scared, Sultana says, and you are here looking for allies. We’re not fighting on the same front. Sultana is determined to give her kids what they deserve and then leave. Azize says, it will happen because that’s exactly what she wants. Sultana threatens to tell all to everyone—I know Miran is Hazar Sadoglu’s son. You have 3 days to give us what’s ours. Sultana leaves and Azize says, three days… let it be three days.

Mahfuz is still trying to reach Aslan and is surprised to find him sitting at home. Aslan fills him in on the kidnapping. Miran rescued him. One ruins the work of the other, he says. He tells Mahfuz to pack his things, I won’t continue to live in this house. I’ll live in the Aslanbey konak. Did Azize ask you? Yes, but only because she had to. I didn’t accept, Aslan says. That’s not how I’ll return. Miran will invite me. Mahfuz is not so sure about that.

Aslan says he has a plan. Mahfuz thinks Aslan shouldn’t go, it’s too dangerous. It’s dangerous for my grandmother, Aslan replies. She can’t do anything. He leaves the room. Mahfuz says, if I can’t keep you out of there, I’ll get Miran and Reyyan out.
Aslan flushes his meds down the toilet. I wanted to keep your secret safe, he says to his reflection, and I’ll take Reyyan without touching anything else, grandmother. But now I will destroy you before taking Reyyan and leaving.

Herc S2 #48 part 4

At the hotel, Gonul drops in on Azat. She tells him the brother she thought was dead is alive. It turns out Aslan is my brother. Azat is shocked. Gonul says, the man who saved your life, ruined mine. Azat tries to process this—he was here looking for his family, one of the oldest in Midyat… it’s true… Gonul says he wasn’t looking, he already knew. He came here knowing. Miran revealed the truth.

Azat asks why the secrecy? Why didn’t he identify himself? Why do you want to know, Gonul asks? What will it change? So Azat wants to know why she is telling him this. Because you are a good person, she says. You know everything but stay away. And you, he asks? I have to drain my grandmother’s swamp. I can’t go.

Azat calls Cihan. Cihan is driving to Derik. He’s looking for Nasuh and can’t talk. Azat tries to get a word in but Cihan shuts him down. We’ll talk later. I can’t find your grandfather. Aren’t you worried? Yes, but… Cihan interrupts, there’s nothing more important now than your grandfather. If he’s dead or hurt, I have to find him. Bye.

Azize finds Sukran in the kitchen. Both can’t sleep but Sukran says it’s Azize’s deeds that keep her up. How could you keep a child away from their mother? Have you no conscience? I only did my duty, Azize replies. Sukran has no doubt but says, those days are long gone. Now they have their grandmother’s [referring to herself] support. I’m not going anywhere. Azize says, Miran and Reyyan are very close now. If you don’t feel comfortable here, maybe I should send you back.

Sukran scoffs, you want me to leave. You reached your objective so you have no interest in me. But I’ve decided to stay here forever. Because I want to witness when your glass house falls. Look, one by one, everyone’s suffering comes back to you. But it’s not my turn yet. I’m still waiting for your downfall. Sukran leaves. There’s still a long road to my suffering, Azize says, your suffering doesn’t compare.

How nice Rey cooks brekkie for Mir. He pours the tea. Weird to have a quiet normal breakfast in the Aslanbey konak? But Rey is still worried about Aslan being so close. She wants Mir to find another way. What if we fall into a trap again? You almost died, she tells him. I couldn’t live without you. Miran reassures her he’s being careful. Sooner or later justice will be served. Miran says, Aslan trusts me, but I don’t trust him. What if he comes to live in the konak, Rey asks? Mir says he won’t allow it.

Miran’s main concern is finding the person who wrote the notes. [person who’s really behind the note writing?] Miran thinks revenge isn’t the only reason Aslan was sent here. There must be something else. In the meantime, Miran will not allow Aslan to get close to her or hurt them.

Sultana tells Aslan she told Cihan that Hanife is Azize’s sister. He’s not happy about her going behind his back like Azize. She was just trying to help. He wants her to be patient. Sultana is tired of being patient. Aslan says give me a few more days. I’ll detonate the bomb that will reveal everything. He promises. The explosion will be huge, he says once Sultana leaves, but we’ll be the only ones who survive… and Reyyan.

Firat drives to the olive grove and there’s a woman walking who is blocking his way. And there’s a snarky confrontation. [And I get the sense that we will see this woman again and this could become a match for Firat.]

Handan announces to Yaren and Harun that today is the day they will bury Huma’s umbilical cord. Ha, she has it and places it on the breakfast table. She makes sure that Harun sits and stays to listen to details. Handan says there was debat on where it should be buried. Yaren suggests it could be buried next to hers. Handan says we couldn’t bury yours, it was lost. Maybe that’s why you are this way. Melike giggles.

Herc S2 #48 part 5

Handan says she has made the decision to bury the cord in the garden of Seymus. Melike comments that’s where those who can’t have children go to pray for them. Yes, Handan says, those without children want them, those who have no money want money, those without mental health want that too. Suddenly a cat jumps on the table and snatches the cord! A chase ensues. The cat and the cord are gone. Handan is distraught.

Cihan returns to the konak and Azat is outside waiting. Azat drops the bomb, Aslan is an Aslanbey. He is Sultana’s son, the one we thought was dead. Azize hid him. You were right, that man tricked us. Cihan asks if Azat has told anyone. No. Azat says he wants to talk to that liar first. They will see what I’m capable of. Cihan tells him not to do anything and not to say anything. Azat is pissed. He wants to teach that liar a lesson and put a knife to his throat. Azat says he already went looking for Aslan and he wasn’t home, but he will find him.

Cihan shifts the subject. I went to Derik and couldn’t find your grandfather. You search for your grandfather, and I will go after Aslan. Cihan tells him to call Yusuf, maybe he knows something.

As soon as Cihan leaves, Azat calls his grandfather! We only hear his side. Tell me why you are not answering your phone? You were right. Aslan is one of Azize’s men, not only that, he is her grandson. Dad went after him. What could I do? You weren’t answering your phone! I had to tell him. When are you coming back? Dad went to Derik and didn’t find you there. Okay, it’s a big secret. Alright, fine. end call.

Hazar drives and recalls making an appointment to see Dr. Yan. The assistant says he’s in Diyarbakir for a surgery. Hazar asks which hospital? So Hazar is on his way there. Mahfuz is tailing Hazar wondering what’s his hurry.

Mahfuz calls Asiye. Aslan is planning to live in the mansion. We have to stop him. He can’t live under the same roof as my daughter. I’m following Hazar, I’m going to tell him everything. Does Hanımefendi know what’s going on, she asks? Mahfuz says she is incapable of being impartial. She perceives the slightest action to be a threat to Aslan. She wouldn’t approve but I have to do this. What if Hazar ruins everything? He won’t, Mahfuz replies. I’ll find a way to handle it.

Hazar waits for Dr. Yan and finds out that the blood transfusion reaction could have one of two things, a subgroup disparity, or a close relative. Dr. Yan thinks the donor wasn’t a relative, so he concludes it was a disparity. Hazar knows otherwise and thanks Dr. Yan with a big hug.

Hazar is overcome with emotion. Dilsah… he is our son.

Firat meets with ReyMir at the olive grove. They talk about running the place. They will build a cabin for Reyyan. Maybe an office. Rey has some ideas, too. They could bring tourists from the hotel. We could prepare local dishes. Big plans. Everyone’s excited.

Miran says he spoke to an agriculture expert who’s very good. Firat asks why, when he could handle it. Miran makes a call to her. [have any ideas who this agricultural expert might be?]

Hazar is still processing the discovery that Miran is his son, when Mahfuz appears. Hazar Sadoglu! Hazar recognizes he works for Aslan. Are you following me? What do you want? I want to talk. Hazar is in no mood to talk to him. Tell Aslan to stay away from us, he warns Mahfuz.

Hazar turns to leave and Mahfuz calls out, I saw Dilsah’s letter. Hazar is angry. Tell me where that letter is or as God is my witness… Mahfuz interrupts, I have no idea where the letter is, but Miran is your son. Azize wants your own son to kill you.

Herc S2 #48 part 6

What are you after, Hazar asks, you followed me to tell me this? What do you want? I don’t want anything, Mahfuz replies, I only care about my daughter’s life. I only live for her now. Just like you. Hazar is puzzled, who is your daughter? Mahfuz answers, Reyyan. I am her father. No… Hazar replies, I am Reyyan’s father.

Okay, we were right. The agricultural expert is Zeynep, the one who Firat encountered on the road. They don’t let on that they already met but it is clear to us and ReyMir that something happened and is happening between them. Reyyan and Zeynep head off together. Firat asks Miran if he checked Zeynep out. Her attitude and manner of speaking are arrogant. She’s difficult. Miran doesn’t get it, he thinks she’s the opposite of what Firat says. Also she’s from this region and she’ll get along well with Reyyan.

Back to other business. Miran calls Aslan. Let’s meet someplace we can’t be seen. Why in secret, Aslan wants to know. We are cousins, we can meet anywhere. He suggests he can come to the konak tonight. Is that a problem? It’s also my father’s house. But I want your permission to go there. I can’t even go to my own house with out an invitation. Miran thinks they won’t be able to have a calm convo at the konak.

Aslan asks him to understand why he is hesitant to talk behind closed doors. Everyone should know what I know. Aslan says he wants to see the panic grannie’s face when he walks through the door and sits at his parents’ table. It’s the house I need an invite to, while you come and go as you please. Is that too much to ask? Miran relents. Tonight, dinner at the konak. End call. Aslan says, you’re going to regret this Miran.

Firat can’t believe Miran invited Aslan to the konak. He invited himself, Miran replies. But he’s right, it is his father’s house. Firat says this will end badly. Aslan has something planned. Miran plays it off.

Rey and Zeynep chat. Zeynep tells her she graduated from an agricultural school in Istanbul. But her family is here. That’s why she returned. Her dreams are here. Rey mentions she didn’t go to college, she got married. Zeynep says she knows. Rey gets uncomfortable. Zeynep apologizes. A small town, the Sadoglus and Aslanbeys are well known. People talk. Don’t worry, Rey says. Zeynep is even more embarrassed. Will you forgive me? Nothing to forgive, Rey replies.

Azize is before her mirror. Looks like she’s preparing for battle, she’s got her lion pin and she’s applying her war paint. We hear Aslan’s voice. Good morning, grandmother. Did you sleep well? I doubt it. You know we have to meet, but not a different place this time. We’ll bravely meet in front of everyone because I am an Aslanbey, too. One of the few who carries the blood you’re so proud of. I’ll be waiting for you. Azize says, the moment of truth has come, grandson.

Aslan leaves his house. He locks the door, then he goes back. Did he unlock it? He gets in his truck and heads off.

Miran and Firat have tea in the grove. We live the destinies that are imposed on us, Firat says. Buried under stone walls. They laugh. Anyway, the setting, the tea, there’s nothing better than this. And every moment like this has an end, Firat says as he sees Zeynep returning with Reyyan.

Miran asks Rey if she’s getting along with Zeynep. Yes, you chose well. We will get along fine. Miran agrees but adds that Firat is a little uncomfortable. Firat says Zeynep is arrogant. Miran says Firat is imagining the worst, but they will get along well. Zeynep comes over with tea for herself and Rey. [Did you spot that look between Zeynep and Firat?]

Herc S2 #48 part 7

Miran asks Zeynep how she will get to work. She’ll figure it out. Rey blurts, Firat can pick you up. He quickly answers, Zeynep said she would figure it out. Zeynep says don’t worry there’s a bus at the end of the road and I can walk from there. Miran thinks it’s too far and insists that she call Firat when she gets to the entry road. Firat is rude. He makes a sly reference to their first meeting.

Rey offers, let’s just enjoy the view. Firat says there must be a story behind all this. Zeynep tells a story about some lonely guy who didn’t want people on his land. He was always angry. One day he saw a girl who got in his way and started to shout. [You know where this is going] Firat inserts himself into the story telling and defends this man. What happened to this woman, he asks? Nothing happened to her, Zeynep replies, but since this man was aggressive and anxious, he left this world way too soon. Aggression is bad for the heart.

Zeynep gets up to get more tea. She’s arrogant, Firat says. She hears. Miran says stop being aggressive. Remember what she said? It’s bad for the heart. [if so, this would have surely killed Miran already] ReyMir laugh. Firat is caught smiling in Zeynep’s direction. [I think he’s toast]

Cihan intercepts Aslan and gives him a bofetada. He grabs Aslan by the collar. Who are you?! Aslan Aslanbey, is his response, which earns another bofetada. You pretended to save Azat so Azize could sneak you into my family?! Your mother says that Hanife is Azize’s sister. What’s your plan?

Aslan says he’s after his own revenge. One that he will take on his grandmother. I didn’t save your son by coincidence. I saved him on purpose. I ruined her plan. My goal isn’t to save one person, but to save us all.

Cihan doesn’t buy it. Do you think I’m stupid? On the contrary, Aslan replies, I think you’re the wisest one in the Sadoglu family [Aslan always knows exactly what to say] You might not believe it, but what I’ve gathered in this short time, you’re the only one who wants peace. And? I’ll put an end to the great revenge. I’ll destroy my grandmother’s reign. If you will help me, of course. Aslan puts out his hand.

Cihan wants to know how this will happen. Only a miracle could cause Azize to give up her revenge. A miracle will happen, Aslan replies. Miran is not a real Aslanbey like me. He is an orphan my grandmother raised to carry out her revenge. Miran Aslanbey does not exist. Cihan is baffled. Miran is not an Aslanbey? He’s nothing to them, Aslan answers.

Aslan continues, I will reveal this secret and put an end to this revenge. Then we will live in peace. Do you accept? Aslan holds out his hand again. Cihan warns, if this goes wrong… Nothing will go wrong, Aslan says, trust me. No one hates Azize Aslanbey more than I do. Cihan grips Aslan’s hand and cautions, if you betray me, I’ll do the same to you and all the Aslanbeys. Do what you want after I take Reyyan and leave this place, Aslan says after Cihan drives off.

We see letters being sorted and there’s the one that Aslan mailed to the Sadoglu konak.
Miran decides to teach Reyyan how to drive. She’s reluctant but somehow he talks her into getting behind the wheel. She’s scared stiff but she drives a very short distance. Ha, she doesn’t know what to do at a stop sign. He laughs.

Aslan and Azize meet in a restaurant. All he wants is Reyyan. He asks why do you want me to leave so badly. Are you afraid I’ll put an end to your revenge? I’m the only one who can end my revenge, she replies. He laughs. She says, I’m very patient, especially with my grandchildren. But my patience has a limit. Yes, Aslan says, but you can’t lock me up anymore. Miran would go after you. You need me now. From now on, you will do as I say. Are you done, she asks?

Herc S2 #48 part 8

I’ll get to the topic that makes tonight so important, Aslan says. There’s that story you mentioned in front of everyone the other day. Aunt Fusun kidnapped me and returned me before she died. That Aunt Fusun…she’s alive. He laughs and Azize tries to suppress a reaction. Listen to some advice, he tells Azize. From now on keep both eyes open when you sleep. This won’t be my last surprise for you. With that, Aslan leaves. Azize panics, Fusun… Fusun is not dead.

Hazar drives and thinks about what Mahfuz told him: I didn’t come here to confront Reyyan. But when I heard what happened to my daughter, I couldn’t help myself. I found Aslan. Azize had kidnapped him and was keeping him away from his family. She told them he had died. When Aslan found out, he decided to take revenge and get justice for everyone. I came with him. Aslan doesn’t know who I really am.

We see ReyMir in the konak and they come to the dinner table. Mahfuz’ voiceover continues, Aslan has strayed from his goal because he has an obsession for Reyyan. He’s even more dangerous because he has a mental illness. I just found out and he hasn’t taken his meds for a while. He’s got a plan to live in the mansion. Reyyan and Miran are in danger. Go get your children out of there. Unless Miran learns you are his father, this danger will not end.

Azize comes down and asks Esma why the table was prepared down on the patio. Because we have a dinner guest, Esma replies. Miran informed me. Who is it, Azize asks? The konak door swings open and Aslan walks through it.

Aslan greets everyone. Azize is stunned. Miran comes over to greet him. Aslan has a bag and says I brought dessert. Esma takes it. Azize asks what’s going on. What brings you here? Don’t you know, Aslan replies. I am having dinner at my family’s house, as a guest of course. Miran apologizes for not letting everyone know. Azize gives Miran a stare. And they all sit at the table. Sultana is so pleased as she takes a seat beside her son.

Awkward silence. Miran prompts Azize. She tells Aslan he’s always welcomed here. Afiyet olsun. Aslan speaks up. There’s something I’d like to say before we start. After discovering who I was, I always dreamed of being with my family in this mansion. It’s late but here I am making my dream come true. Thank you for the invite, Miran. Miran acknowledges it with a slight nod.

Aslan continues, they say that what’s already happened is irreparable. But I don’t want to lose hope. It’s the only thing that’s kept me alive. He takes something out of his bag and places it on the table. Thank you, grandmother. [A box? A book? Not sure.]

And we are out of a pretty eventful episode.

Thank you novelera for the recap on Thursday and I am glad you feel better. My recording was the same, cut off the last 7 minutes because of stupid commercials. Short, snarky and savvy is the best way to describe your recap!

Thank you Juanita for filling in the gaps of the last few minutes, clearly a lot happened. Miran is a pretty good detective, I hope he can keep all the deception in focus with HAG and now Aslan.

I was glad to see a calmer Miran, more horseback riding (yes, Miran needs to protect those avocados, lol) and FINALLY, a marriage consummation that keeps Miran in the beautiful bed sheets with a relieved Reyyan. The olive grove gift and the college application for Rey was pretty cool. Rey even got a driving lesson!

Nasuh and Ayse/Azize are sort of married? That was interesting. I appreciated the culture lesson HalimaCandy! Aslan is definitely mentally ill. I kept wondering who was calling him, but it was the reminder to take his medication.

Thank you dondi356 for your fabulous recap of last night’s very fast-moving episode!

I am liking the new Miran, bangs and all. Looks like Firat has found the woman of his dreams! Zeynep seems to be perfect for him.

I don’t know if to believe Azize about Tia Fusun or not? Did she really steal Aslan? Is she the note master, master mind? I agree with you dondi356, she must be.

Loved that Reyyan redid the bedroom and made breakfast.

What is Nasuh up too? He seemed to be keeping only Azat in the loop. Cihan and Aslan alliance cannot be a good thing.

Hazar knows Miran is his son and Mahfuz is Reyyan’s dad. What does he do with all that info? At least Mahfuz gave Hazar the 411 on crazy Aslan.

It is hard to keep up with everything! Thank you Nett, novelera and dondi356 for the great end of week recaps!

herc

Thank you so much, dondi, for this really terrific recap. Your asides were priceless!

Gonul, still partially delusional, tells the Aslanbey roaches that she sacrificed everything. She means she divorced a man who never loved her. Big sacrifice.

Miran is figuring out quite a few things. The remark HAG made about preserving her "lineage" is a definitely clue that he's not part of it and instead is a sacrificial pawn in her revenge.

One thing HAG has been successful at is creating mass hysteria. All the Aslanbeys seem convinced that the Sadoglu are their enemies and might murder them at the drop of a hat.

I didn't understand the flashback scene where the grey-haired guard of Aslan has a bottle of pills and something is said about forcing him to take them. Did Azize find out Aslan needs those pills to stay "normal"?

The actor portraying Aslan is a good one. He does a great job with those obsessive stares and evil half smiles.

Everyone keeps coming right out and threatening HAG: Miran, Reyyan, and Aslan. Have they forgotten she has The Robot and 5 or 6 other guys willing to do...anything?

Yep, I was on the same page when we saw the woman on the road. And it even follows the rom-com blueprint. Two people meet, hate each other, and then fall into love together.

What was that umbilical cord crap in there for? It sent me down a google rabbit hole looking for the tradition. But it didn't move our plot along.

I think you mentioned, dondi, that the actor portraying Nasuh may have come down with COVID. This would explain his only presence being unseen in a phone call.

Interesting. In both dizis, Fatmagul and Hercai, the galan is teaching a naive young woman to drive. I liked Kerim's teaching better. Miran's being his usual self-satisfied self, almost smirking at Reyyan's mistakes.

Mahfuz telling Hazar Reyyan is his bio-daughter surprised me. And I'm glad. Hazar is often such a bull in a china shop, I expect him to rush into the Aslanbey konak to "save" Reyyan.

Fatmagul

Lucio, thank you for the recap . I think that I now know where we are in the story.

Sami is on his hero's journey as he supports Hacer while Mustafa is falling deeper and deeper into despair .

Hercai

Dondi, thank you for another great recap .

Well, everyone has a plan .Aslan has an asplan which we now learn has been cooked up in his mixed Up mind.

Aslan's comment about his "fathers house " made me remember something. I used to have out workbooks to use with small groups of students . I told them not to write in the books as we did grammar exercises together , but one guy kept forgetting and writing in the book. I kept telling him not to, and finally , his friend said something to him in Arabic . I asked him what he said , and he replied , " I told him ' That's not your father's book." I guess that expression means if something belongs to your father, it belongs to you.

Thanks VERY much, dondi356, for another extraordinary recap, complete with lots of insightful and enjoyable side comments. Last night's episode certainly had some useful revealing moments, but I sometimes found myself scratchng my head in confusion.

For example, when Hazar goes to see Dr. Yan, the doctor tells him that the seizures were caused by one of two things: either "sub-group disparity" (whatever that is) or donation by a close relative. Since Hazar had told him that he didn't have any close relative donating blood, Dr. Yan has concluded that the seizures were caused by sub-group disparity. Hazar is delighted to hear this and hugs the doctor in gratitude. But Hazar and Zehra had had a conversation not long before Hazar went to see the doctor in which Zehra told him the same thing that the doctor did! So why was Hazar so seemingly overcome by emotion when the doctor said it?

I have no idea whether Fusun Aslanbey stole the baby from the hospital. One possibility--she did, and Azize finally tracked her down and stole the baby (now three years old) back from her. In other words, Fusun didn't ask her to take Aslan because she was dying. Rather, Aslan was taken from her by Azize and hidden away so that he would survive and carry on the Aslanbey blood line. But that's just a guess, prompted by Aslan's being told that Fusun is not dead. (Ironically, Fusun has Aslanbey blood but Azize does not.)

I was really surprised when Azat reached Nasuh by phone very easily, whereas Cihan could do so neither on the phone nor in person. Is Nasuh screening his calls and accepting only those from Azat? If so, why? And where is Nasuh? I wonder whether his absence has anything to do with what happened umpteen years ago with Ayse/Azize.

I'm not sure what to think about Aslan's mental state. When Miran rescues him from the locked cell Azize has put him in, Aslan at first seemed completely out of it--your "catatonic" describes him well. So I assumed he was suffering from a lack of meds. But he pretty quickly snapped out of his catatonic state and seemed OK. Later, we see him dump his meds down the toilet, but he doesn't seem to suffer a relapse. But Mahfouz warns Hazar about Aslan's mental state and says he's taking meds. And, of course, Aslan had his phone set to remind him when to take them, suggesting that taking them was important. So, since he isn't taking his meds, I'm surprised that we haven't seen him again in a more out-of-it state.

Like you, dondi356, I wondered why Aslan locked the door to his house and then went back and did something else to the door, perhaps unlocking it. My only question is why he would bother to unlock it. At least three people have succeeded in opening the locked door.

One thing that did not confuse me was the interaction between Firat and Zeynep. As novelera has pointed out, it's straight out of the rom-com playbook. I'm happy that Firat has found someone, even if he doesn't know it yet.

Fatmagul

I'll have a Friday recap up a little later today. Thanks for your patience.

Fatmagul # 59 part 1

Sweet opener with Fatma caring for Elif in her room. Kerim comes in to say goodnight. The three of them look so nice together. A sign of things to come? Cut to miserable Musto curled up on his prison bed.

Busy start at Rose Kitchen. Kerim and Fatma bought supplies at the market and took Lodos to the vet for vaccinations. Rahmi says Fahr had stopped in to talk to Kerim. All he said was he would be back later. Meryem and Kadir were waiting for Fatma to come before they leave for Kadir’s doctor appointment.

Lots of letters are waiting on the table for Fatma. Ozge sent a letter. She’s “trying” to be fine. Thinking of returning to school. Her mother and sister have jobs. Kids are in nursery school.

Interesting note: a mention of Darüşşafaka Society was cut. They provide an education to orphaned/fatherless children. This is a charity that Engin Akyürek supports. He donates the proceeds of his book “Sessizlik” (Silence). BTW, the book is available in Spanish,“Silencio”. No English translation yet.

Kadir gives Kerim an update on the idiots on the run—they fled abroad. Kerim shares this with Fatma.

Ayce tells her story to Selim. Her father got her into this business. Her mother died when she was young. Erdo apologizes for relieving himself in their living space. [remember he peed in Kadir’s basement?] Ayce continues her story. Her father made the business like a game for her, and she was a useful cover when the Coast Guard came by. He would say he was fishing with his daughter. Now he is in prison.

Resat reads about Mustafa’s trial and sentencing. He calls a guard and wants to see his lawyer. The guard calls out to the sleeping cellmate. He doesn’t respond. The cellmate has died in his sleep. Resat panics, I didn’t do anything.

Peri and Hilmiye talk to Muge. She hasn’t heard from Erdo in a while. This silly girl believes that Erdo and Selim will clear their names and justice will be served. And she actually thinks that she has a future with Erdo. She mentioned this to her parents! Dumbfounded and guilty looks from both mothers. Meltem walks by and sees the three together. Muge worries Meltem and Ender will get suspicious. [too late, Muge]

Lale shows up at the company with Munir. Ender says she knows that woman from somewhere but can’t place her. [I noticed Lale looking at Ender, then quickly looking away.] Lale and Munir just closed an important deal. Munir thanks her, she looks like she’s in a hurry to get out of there. She obviously wants to avoid Ender.

Munir is taken with Lale, he tells Peri and Hilmiye she is an amazing woman. Peri notes that Munir is enjoying running things while Resat is away and hasn’t been to see him in the prison. Munir just wants to take care of business so he can bring Resat good news. Munir and Lale are having dinner later.

Fatma serves an older couple. They cut the beginning of this scene. The older couple show some affection for each other. Fatma and Kerim notice and smile. The couple voice their respect and support for Fatma. The woman notices Kerim looking at Fatma with “lots of love”. You can see the happiness in his eyes, she says.

Kerim comes over to the table. The woman wishes them happiness. The man tells them, you realize the importance of the hand you are holding, when you are walking on the same road. The greatest treasure is having your partner (yol arkadaşin) walking on the same road with you. The woman tells them, never let go of each other’s hand. Kerim takes Fatma’s hand, he doesn’t intend to leave it.

Cut: The runaways fantasize about lavish meals and good times. Erdo can’t see Ayce dressed any other way than she is now. But Selim pictures her dressed to kill. Ayce tells them I will you were different. For a moment I dreamed you were decent, honorable men.

Fatmagul # 59 part 2

Hacer is trying to get permission to visit Musto. She stops at a store window and sees ex-hub, Demir, in the window’s reflection. He grabs her. We are still married, he says. Hacer says their marriage is not valid here. Does your husband who you sent to prison know you are married to me, he asks? No. Demir blames her for sending him to prison, too. You sold me, she replies. Yes, and after you ran from me, you sold yourself again, he tells her.

He wants compensation—money, and then he will leave her alone. Your parents must have found out about you since you are in the news. Hacer says she’s got nothing left to lose. What about the child you are carrying, Demir asks? Give me money. Hacer says she doesn’t have any. Find it, he tells her, I won’t leave you alone until then.

The old couple leave Fatma and Kerim with nice words: against all evil, love each other. Never lose hope. Your wounds will heal with love. Listen to the wisdom of the old. We know what we are talking about. We are still together. Later, Fatma and Kerim tell Rahmi and Muka about them. Fatma says their love hasn’t diminished. Kerim says hopefully we will be just like them. We’ll see, the awful Muka interjects.

There’s talk at the dinner table about Kadir’s hand. Fatma asks how did this happen? Disgusting Muka says Meryem sat on it and it went snap. Fatma shoots Muka a look and whispers, it’s not funny. Kadir says it’s not a big deal. He will have an operation. Fatma and Kerim had no idea. Meryem mentions it will take 4 or 5 weeks to recover. Kadir says he doesn’t care as long as Meryem is with him. You are my hands, he says and gives her a kiss. You make me happy. Smiles from Kerim and Fatma.

Musto mopes in prison, thinking back to Resat offering him a better life than the one in Ildir.

Sami wants to kill Demir. Hacer does not want him to get mixed up in this. She just has to give Demir money. Sami says Demir will just want more, it will never end. Hacer says she gave him the power of attorney to divorce. She feels she has no option but to trust Demir.

Omer calls Hacer. She has permission to visit Musto. Sami’s not too happy about that either.

Fahr arrives at the house. Kerim and Fatma meet him at the door. He asks them to sit, he has something to tell them. Curiosity is piqued. Fahr begins, Kerim will be mad at me for doing things on my own, but I won’t accept any objections. I sold the forest house. I thought no one would want to go there after what happened. Now, that money… Kerim interrupts, no dad… Let me finish, Fahr says. I want to use that money to buy another property—a house for you.

You don’t have to do that, Kerim says. Whether necessary or not, I want you to have your own house, Fahr replies. Fatma says thank you but it’s not necessary. Fahr tells them he was out with Mumtaz looking at houses. He wants them all to go together to see them. See them before rejecting. We’ll talk after, he says, I’m going to buy a house anyway. It’s up to you if you want to live in it. Kerim looks uncertain.

Ender looks a school yearbook. She realizes she went to the same school as Lale. Lale was a year younger. Ender notes that her name was Civan Lale then. Lale is her last name. Meltem says maybe Gozal is her married name. Ender did some research, and all the results are under Lale Gozal. And these go back 8 years to when she created her public relations firm. Nothing before that. Ender wonders why she would hide her identity. She’s going to find out.

Lale and Munir at dinner. Lale asks if Resat knows what they are doing with the business. Munir says Resat trusts him. Lale says trust is important. Munir trusts Lale. You’re like a miracle, he says. I’m going to keep creating miracles for the Yasarans, she replies. Munir is interested. You won’t have to wait long, Lale says.

Fatmagul # 59 part 3

Resat is being monitored for high blood pressure. He’s upset over what happened with his cellmate, who died of a heart attack. Resat comments how the guy seemed healthy, he did tai chi and yoga. Being in prison weakens you, Resat says, it gnaws at you from within. Resat asks the guard again if they have heard from his lawyer. Nope. Resat gets riled up.

Erdo gets claustrophobic and wants to go out and some air. Ayce argues with him, and something falls and makes a noise. They have to hide. The guy who was helping him comes down with another guy. There’s a comment about the horrible smell. The helper guy is told to clean up.

Kadir is dismayed that Fatma and Kerim might be moving out. Fahr says they are looking at places that are not far from Kadir’s. Kerim smiles and says, see, you can’t escape us. Kadir says, we had no complaints, right Meryem? Meryem reserves comment and says, I think it would be good for you to be alone together, but… Muka interrupts, what about Rahmi and me? We can go back to Ildir.

Meryem asks, is that what I was talking about? What will we do, Muka asks, live in your house like parasites? Kadir will pretend he didn’t hear that. Rahmi says they can find a place near Fatma. We’re not going yet, Fatma states. Fahr says the houses he’s looking at are big, they can live as a family. Kadir says they can live here like a family.
[Seems Kadir really doesn’t want anyone to go, he will even continue to put up with Muka] Kerim notes that the houses are very expensive. He doesn’t want his father to spend this much. We’re just looking, Fahr replies.

Muka tells Rahmi they should start looking for a house in Ildir. They won’t be able to afford rent here. Fatma says no one is going anywhere. Fahr points out another house, but Kerim says that is also too expensive. Fahr says he will buy it for himself as an investment and they can pay rent to him. You will look after my house, and I will have a place to stay when I come to Istanbul. That’s why I’m looking for a big one. But we are just looking, we have plenty of time.

Meryem and Kadir talk as they get ready for bed. She says Fahr heard what I said about Hacer, that’s why he’s looking for a house. Kadir thinks he just wants to help his son and it’s not a bad idea. He adds, I don’t want Kerim and Fatma to leave us but…now that they actually decided to become a family, they need to have their own house. Kadir says that Rahmi and Muka can stay. We can fix up the bungalow so they can live there comfortably, or they can live here. But it’s better that the kids are alone.

Fatma and Kerim sit outside. My father was so happy we said okay to moving, he tells Fatma. Yes, and we could convince Muka, she replies. Kerim says, maybe we could live alone at the beginning until we get used to the house, [Turkish] and get used to each other. Fatma shyly nods. We’ve never been alone, this will be the first time being alone, you and me.

Kerim puts his hand on her face. Our story will begin when we are done with those evil people. I promise. It will be a beautiful story. She knows. Here comes the kiss. Fatma spots Muka spying from the balcony. She gets flustered and wants to go inside. Why are you embarrassed, he asks, we are married. I know, she replies, but I’m very cold. She gets up and hurries inside. She feels the heat of her flushed cheeks. A little smile. [They need their own place!]

Muka is upstairs waiting to comment on the lovebirds singing to each other. Best you finish that wedding dress quickly, no? Don’t you see your man is on fire? Don’t let him burn. It’s the right time. Fatma closes her bedroom door on Muka. They cut the end. Fatma’s got her hands on her cheeks again and she’s smiling. Kerim stays outside, probably to cool off! He laughs softly.

Fatmagul # 59 part 4

House hunting takes place. Unfortunately, Muka is with them, too. They’ve seen 8 houses. It seems like the price is the sticking point for Fatma and Kerim. They really want something more reasonable.

Cut: The fugitives have to leave the hiding place so it can be cleaned. They are discovered by another sailor. This dialog is in English. Ayce’s helper begs him not to snitch. Erdo steps forward and tells the guy who found them, I’ll give you $5,000 (Erdo says dollars) to keep your mouth shut. The guy says 5,000 for each. Erdo says he doesn’t have that much money. The guy turns to go and Erdo says okay. Half now and the rest when they dock [I must say, Erdo speaks fairly decent English] Selim objects in Turkish, and Erdo says we have no choice. The guy agrees to hide them in a better place.

Hacer and Omer visit Musto. He asks for time alone with Hacer. Why are you crying, he asks? I deserved this. I’m angry at you but even angrier at myself. She tries to speak and he tells her he will be the one speaking and she will listen. He says it was a coincidence that they met. She chose him, she came to him. You got in my way as I was running from Fatmagul and myself. You were my first woman. The first woman I shared a bed with. The first woman I slept with.

Musto continues, one day when we were fighting, you said I was with you to punish myself. You were right. After that disaster that happened to Fatma, I wanted to punish myself for turning my back on her. I was with you despite knowing what you did for a living, just to hurt myself. I wish I could be the man you want me to be. One who protects you. One who is crazy in love with you. But I’m not that man. I wish I could be the father of this baby. Everything that I have, will be your son’s. I am very angry that you testified against me, and I will take my revenge with this one sentence: I have only loved Fatmagul. Hacer cries silent tears.

They cut the beginning of this scene. Everyone arrives for the workday at Rose Kitchen. Fatma tells Kerim he did a bad job parking the truck. That’s why she gets in and re-parks it.

Mehmet and Lodos are missing. Mehmet returns and tells them Lodos took off after a cat. He’s been out looking for him. The search for Lodos begins.

Cut: The fugitives dock and sweat a passport check. Erdo hands over the cash but has kept a little out for themselves.

Resat gets released from jail. Reporters flock. Munir handles the questions. Peri meets him to make it look good.

Cut: Fatma and Kerim find Lodos. As they walk, Fatma spots a house. It’s the house they’ve been waiting for. Kerim tells Fatma he will make it into a heaven for her. We don’t see the house. This is the end of Turkish ep 68. We have 12 more Turkish eps to go!

Slight cut: We see Kerim working on the “new” house. He’s got the radio on and he’s singing along. Rahmi starts singing with Kerim. Rahmi comments that his mother had a beautiful singing voice. Kerim says Fatma told him. Rahmi says his mother would sing, Fatma would dance and his father was hypnotized. We were happy back then.

More cut: Rahmi continues, but then they died. And this happened to us. Kerim’s smile leaves. But… I am still happy, Rahmi says. Really, I have a family, too, now. I have kids. Fatma is smiling again. What else could I want? Kerim’s smile is back. Rahmi adds, and you are with us now. You are with her. You stand behind her. That’s why I feel content. I’m not saying this because you are here. I consider you as my brother. Kerim says Rahmi is his “abi”. Rahmi goes on, I can’t describe how I feel about you, but I know you will make Fatmagul very happy. That’s why I love you very much. I trust you. You are an honest man. Kerim has to stop him from going on. Are you hungry, he asks?

Fatmagul # 59 part 5

Kerim calls Fatma. She’s packing food to bring to them. Miss, where’s my order, Kerim asks? And he misses her, too. She will be there soon.

Uh, oh. On her way out, the mailman hands her a letter from Mustafa. She almost tosses it but stuffs it in her pocket instead. We hear Mustafa: Fatmagul, my beloved. Since the day I arrived here, wherever I look I see your face. You are the walls that surround me. You are the sky outside my window, and you will be for many years. You will always be here with me. I might get a reduced sentence with a plea.

But no matter how long I stay in prison, I will endure it with the hope of being with you as long as I know you are waiting for me. I learned my lesson after all that happened and all I made you go through. I can’t forget one thing you said, you said you didn’t give yourself to Kerim. That’s when I realized you still loved me. You deny it because you are angry with me. but I know you love me. From now on, I will live for you. I will change for you and become a different Mustafa. I’ll come to you as a clean man. Just tell me you will wait for me. Fatma almost opens the letter, then she crumples it and tosses it in a trash can.

We see Musto writing more letters, he writes Fatma every day. He’s waiting for a response from her. A guard tells him he has a visitor, a lawyer. It’s Omer. Hacer asked him to come. She wants a divorce, and she won’t make any demands. Musto has no objection. Omer takes the opportunity to speak about Fatma’s trial coming up. He asks Musto to testify for Fatma. There is no reason to be scared or protect the Yasarans. You have nothing to lose. Selim and Erdo are fugitives, but we will catch them. Talk and make sure they get the punishment they deserve. That’s the only apology you owe Fatma.

Fatma brings the food and Kerim senses something is up. Fatma brushes it off. She wants the house painted in blue and white (like the houses in Ildir).

Cut: the three fugitives are working in a kitchen. [oh, how the mighty have fallen!] Another worker comes in and hits on Ayce. This exchange is in English. Erdo tells him to get lost.

The fugitives are trying to work their way to the US. Ayce says she intends to go back to Turkey. The boss comes in and scolds them in English. Keep your hands working rather than your mouth! Erdo tells him to F—k off in Turkish. The boss says, excuse me? Erdo answers, I said, yes, sir in Turkish. Erdo salutes and repeats the Turkish F bomb. The three have a good laugh.

Fahr is on the trail of the fugitives. He’s found out about a girl, whose father is in prison. He can’t get much because the case is confidential. But he’s talked to the local fishermen. Some are protecting the girl. But some gave her name to the police. Fahr will continue to investigate.

Cut: Kerim sneaks up behind Fatma as she paints. He grabs her hand with the brush and guides her strokes, to show her how it’s done. It’s nothing like stuffing vine leaves, he says. You weren’t very good at stuffing the leaves, she retorts, but I didn’t make fun of you. [Susanlynn, this reminded me of the Omer & Elif painting scene in KPA, but this one came first!]

Muka shows up at the new house to disrupt the happiness. They cut some of the negative comments she made. She has nothing nice to say about the house. She calls it a hovel. You chose this house to get rid of me. She wouldn’t live her if they begged her. [Good!!] Kerim leaves the room.

Muka continues, I never had a house of my own. I had to live with you for years as well. I didn’t have a real wedding or marriage. I’ve raised two children. You were 12 when you came to me. I want to have my own house. You’re right, Fatma says.

Fatmagul # 59 part 6

Muka snaps back, we forgot our own lives because of you. From now on everyone goes their own way. [I wish Fatma would throw paint on her] Fatma puts her coat on and wants to go back to Rose Kitchen. Muka swipes at Fatma pushing her responsibilities off on Meryem. I don’t know how Fatma stays so calm.

Lale and Resat catch up on business. I think Resat is unhappy about some of the stuff Munir did while he was away. If you want to talk about it, that’s fine.
Fatma tells Meryem about Musto’s letter and that she got rid of it without reading it. She doesn’t want Kerim to know.

We see Lale with a severely disabled man who is her husband. He can’t move or speak. She tells him they will have their revenge soon.

The Yasarans discuss divorce. Peri says she doesn’t want anything that was obtained after their marriage. All she wants are the lands her father left her. Then she wants to go to Europe for a few months. Hilmiye talks about wanting Erdo to get his share. Resat is ticked and says we are in this mess because of him.

Kerim just finished taking a shower and gets the laptop. He wants to show something to Fatma. Furniture for the house. She looks over his shoulder and gives him a sniff. She tells him “sıhhatler olsun” (may it bring health). This is said after someone takes a shower or has a haircut. Kerim tells her she smells beautiful. I smell like vanilla and pastry cream, she replies, I’ll take a shower after we eat. Kerim says he loves her just like this.

Muka stares at them. She calls them rude and says they are doing this out of spite to provoke envy. Kerim whispers to Fatma to make sure no one tags along on their shopping trip tomorrow. Then they can do something afterwards.

Meryem calls from outside and Kadir calls from downstairs. Emre is here! He’s on a crutch. He was shot in the leg. They have dinner and catch up. Fatma gets anxious when the subject of a wedding date comes up. Meryem suggests the beginning of May. Will the dress be ready, Kerim asks? Maybe, Fatma says. She looks a jumble of emotions.

Kerim is giving Fatma another driving lesson. He mentions the wedding date again and she gets anxious and steps on the gas. Whoa! Kerim laughs. Fatma blushes. Kerim admits he’s anxious too. That’s all for driving today, she says, let’s go shopping. Before they go, Kerim wants to set a definite wedding date. First Saturday in May? Okay.

One last thing, Kerim says. You will think it’s strange, but… do you want to marry me? The circumstances before were different. I want to hear you say yes because you really want to. She says “tamam”, okay. He steals a kiss. They switch places and drive off.

Kadir is working at Rose Kitchen and Meryem worries about his hand. Muka is inside complaining about working on a beautiful day while Fatma is out strolling around. She (Fatma) even has Kadir working with his bad hand.

The mailman leaves some letters for Fatma. Uh, oh. There’s a letter from Mustafa. Muka stuffs it in her shirt. [This is gonna be trouble.] Muka puts on her coat on and says she’s taking the baby out for a walk.

Fatmagul # 59 part 7

When Muka gets far enough away, she carefully opens the letter: Fatmagul, my beloved. One more day has passed and I’m one day closer to be with you. I will count the hours, days, weeks, months and the years will pass. I will write you every day, waiting for you to send me a light of hope. I wait with patience every day for your letter to come.

When that day comes, this will be easier to bear. My hope will give me strength, as you did when I fought against death. You brought me back to life. You flashed before my eyes, when they wanted to close. You wore your white wedding gown. You had the scarf you took from me and saved. You told me you loved me and would wait for me. I was at the point of giving up. Then I came back. I came back to life for you.

And now I’m cursing myself for turning my back on you. I can’t help but wait for the day you forgive me. The slightest hope gives me life. If you love me in the least, give me a sign, Fatmagul. If you wait for me I’ll make myself forgiven. We will heal our wounds and be very happy. I love you very much.

Muka is moved and likely jealous. What a great love, she says. Fatmagul this, Fatmagul that. Everyone wants her, Muka sniffles. She puts the letter back in the envelope, hides it in her dress again, and does the Muka shuffle back to the Rose Kitchen.

And we are out.

Fatmagul

Dondi, thank you for another excellent recounting of every detail as our story spins onward .

Fatmagul and Kerim have fought so hard to overcome every bad thing that has happened to them... All the "slings and arrows of outrageous fortune "
It is so good to see their joy and excitement at finally forging a future life together

I love the way these writers have shown that love and romance is not just reserved for the young . Meryem and Kadir are shown cudd!ing in bed, dancing, and showing PDA. When Kerim and Fatmagul observe the older couple in Rose Kitcgen, they picture themselves after a !ong, happy life together . ( " Grow old along with me; the best is yet to be; the last of life for which the first was made."..Robert Browning to Elizabeth Barrett Browning )

....However, then there is selfish, envious Muk who cannot stand to witness Kerim's increasing love and devotion to Fatmagul . Intercepting Mustafa's letters has brought her nasty nature to a new level. What a jealous , nosy trouble maker .

Watching the bond between Kerim and Rahmi grow is sweet. They are becoming linked by their unconditional love for Fatmagul .

Fatmagul

Thank you Dondi for all the details. I likely would have forgotten as much as Thursday but your fantastic recap brought it back!

'What a great love, she says.' this is clearly Muka's blind spot because where she is spot on so many places she is light years off here, this isn't a great love or any love. It's a sad obsession! Mustafa actually thinks he can ask Fatma to wait 22 years for him after everything?? What a delusional selfish entitled jerk!!!

Farh, Meryem, and Kadir are right, Fatma and Kerim need their own house, Muka needs to get a life....the saddest thing is she has a great life and she doesn't appreciate it because she thinks it should look different, I wonder how often we are all guilty of that.

I just don't care about the Yeserans.

Sorry to see Emre injured!

Fatmagul

Darcy, yes, I felt bad for Emre , who has been a good friend to Kerim and Fatmagul. Kerim gives the best hugs . He totally commits to those warm enbraces.

I also feel sorry for Hacer . I am glad that she Has Sami, who has become a loyal and protective friend.

Herc

Thanks everyone.

VVS, I like the new Miran but I will never like the bangs. Thank goodness Reyyan had sex with him.

novelera, I’m with you on Gonul’s “big sacrifice.” At least her Miran obsession is over. Now she can be with Azat. Will be interesting to watch the real life married couple fall in love on a dizi. And was also confused by the gray haired guard giving pills to Aslan. If we are comparing galans on Fatmagul and Hercai, Kerim wins every category, no contest for me.

Juanita, I can only guess what Dr. Yan had to say confirmed for Hazar that Miran is his son. Great observation: “(Ironically, Fusun has Aslanbey blood but Azize does not.)” I wonder what Aslan’s diagnosis is.

We will have to wait until Fusun shows up to find out who stole and/or hid baby Aslan. Can’t wait to see HAG and Fusun go at each other.

I’m also happy for Firat. And he’s ditched the suits.

Fatmagul

Dondi, Kerim is the king of galans. I think this is the most hopeful show I have ever watched. It is all about resilience, strength, hope, forgiveness, and survival . Watching that family unit form was wonderful and shows how people can help each other heal and thrive after traumatic events.

herc

dondi356, yes, I think what Dr. Yan told Hazar did confirm for him that Miran is his son. What puzzles me is that Zehra had already told Hazar the same thing (about the two possible reasons for Hazar's seizures--information she had gotten from Dr. Yan). So why did Hazar only seem to decide that Miran was his son after getting the same information from Dr. Yan?
