Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #59
Part 1 of 3
Gonul is walking past the Fusun/Azize bedroom and overhears Firat demand to know where Azize is. She listens at the semi open door as Firat tells Fusun that he is willing to turn over all the Aslanbey assets to her in exchange for Azize. Why would you do that now, asks Fusun. Because I have questions regarding my past that I need to ask her, he responds, but if you don’t want to help me…he starts to rip up the agreement. No, don’t do that, says Fusun, I don’t know where Azize is but I will find her. He tells her to hurry up, he will wait for her call.
On the way out of the bedroom, he runs into Gonul. She asks what is going on. He gives her little information but does say that Reyyan was expecting twins and did loose one of the babies. Harun and Yaren overhear the conversation. Harun asks Fusun what is going on and where she is going. She just lightly taps his face and walks out.
At the Love Shack, Reyyan wakes up to the sight and sounds of blowing snow. Miran is outside using a small snowmaking machine. She is excited and he is happy to make her happy. She asks why is his doing this and we are taken back to a recent memory where Reyyan wakes up to find Miran making breakfast, did you jump off a magazine cover, she asks him. There is a cute exchange (that I will keep short because I know these cutesy scenes are getting on some patio nerves 😊).
Reyyan thinks that the morning would be complete with her Romeo like husband making breakfast, a fire, drinking hot tea and watching it snow. She tells him about the times she would collect snow and make ice cream as a child. Back to the morning snowmaking, Miran tells her there is nothing he wouldn’t do to make her happy. She says she is happy and knows that the baby can feel that happiness.
Good Grannie is tending to Reyyan’s potted roses outside of Hazar and Zehra’s bedroom. Inside, there is a heated argument going on, with stupid Zehra telling Hazar she overhead the conversation he had with Good Grannie the night before. What exactly did he mean by “things would have been different” if Dilsah was alive? Hazar loses his patience with her and calls her out for spying on his conversation with GG and going through his pockets. When she continues to rant, he asks what the heck she was doing at Mahfuz’s hotel? Are you jealous of a dead woman? He tells her not to besmirch the name of someone who is gone. If Dilsah had lived, then ReyMir would not have suffered at the hands of Azize.
The argument spills out into the patio where GG is watering the plants. Hazar at least says good morning. To Zehra, GG says, my daughter is dead, but know that if she was alive, she would never be a home wrecker!
Back at the cabin, Reyyan is sitting outside enjoying a large breakfast spread. Miran brings her a sweater. He tells her that he plans on keeping his promise to her. She says she knows he will and she also thinks that Azize did not send the poisonous pastry. He says that the culprit will be found. There is more playful banter regarding what baby lentil wants to eat as they enjoy breakfast on the porch surrounded by the snow.
Fusun finds the pouting Cihan in a hotel room and says, I guess the conversation with Nasuh was difficult? Then she asks him where Azize is. He laughs and says he has no clue. Who has her then? My father, he lifts his hand in response, he doesn’t know where she is. I don’t know what happened, Fusun says, but do not let them make you feel worthless. She smiles evilly after saying that and leaves the room.
Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #59
Part 2 of 3
Mahfuz is with a woman wearing a head scarf, it has to be Dilsah. They are leaving the hotel and he tells her not to worry, things will be okay. (Why am I worried then?). He ignores a call from that idiot Zehra, saying it is not going to be as you would like. As he and his passenger drive off, we see a henchman watching what is going on and jumping into a white car to follow. Fusun get a call that her men have found Dilsah. Kill Mahfuz if necessary, but she wants Dilsah alive.
At the Country Casa, Nasuh continues watch over Ayse/Azzie as she sleeps. Her sleep is interrupted by Fusun with a call to Nasuh. Fusun demands to speak with Azize and after listening, Azize tears out of the house, as Fusun snickers in delight.
Back at the cabin, Miran has the snowmaking machine going full blast into the room, making a blizzardy mess. Reyyan has fun with it as they pose for pictures to show the lentil one day. Getting serious, Miran says he has been thinking a lot about what they are going to name their child. This child has done everything to stay alive, light their pathway in the darkness and bring them happiness, maybe the baby’s name should be Umut which is Turkish for Hope. Reyyan likes the idea and the name.
Miran heads outside for an armload of wood and takes the opportunity to check in with Firat. Firat is at the hospital, but does not tell Miran anything about Esma. He reports about his meeting with Fusun and asks about Reyyan. Miran says they are okay and Firat tells him to keep his loved ones close as nothing else matters. The call ends and Miran puts the phone down on the chopping log. Hazar arrives to check on him and Reyyan, he loves the snowy yard and tells Miran how Rey used to sit by the windows praying for snow. Hazar asks Miran to consider moving into the konak, but Miran refuses especially after what occurred with Cihan the night before.
Miran invites him in and as Hazar goes to grab an armload of wood he sees that Fusun is calling Miran and he answers the call, saying nothing. Fusun tells “Miran” that she is not his enemy and will prove it to him. Her guest has arrived so join her on the monastery road, he won’t be disappointed. She tells her man Halit to call Firat and also have him meet at the monastery road with the power of attorney paperwork.
Hazar says hello briefly to Reyyan and hand her Miran’s phone, then he heads out, telling Miran to take care of his family. Miran is suspicious of his father’s sudden haste to leave.
A bloody and injured Mahfuz drags himself up to the road, he is able to pull out his phone but then appears to pass out.
Gonul shows up at the Sadoglu casa and is met by a surprised Azat as he is leaving the konak. She is there to give condolences to ReyMir about the baby, he tells her they are living at the cabin. She says she will go over there he tells her not to because they are in a bad way and her presence would only make if worse. She is offended and they have another heated discussion. They are interrupted by Harun and Yaren (who are holding hands???). Yaren is her nasty self and this make Azat think about what he said to Gonul. He ends up following after her and they have another encounter where he tries to apologize. She tries to leave but he grabs her arm and twirls her around, the stand face to face for a few seconds. No doubt this is the start that will lead them down the pathway of being a couple. (It is Valentine’s Day after all).
Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #59
Part 3 of 3
Azize and Nasuh are speeding along (at least Azize is in the front seat), she is worried that she won’t get there in time. I have to talk to Dilsah first and apologize. She can’t be in front of Miran, because she will not believe it is him. We go to a flashback to the younger Azize telling Dilsah that Miran has been dead for months and she was in coma, she will now live in this house that Azize bought her.
Dilsah goes crazy with grief and has to be sedated. The angry, evil Azize tells her that her own son died because of her and now Dilsah will suffer the same pain she has felt. (The actors used in this timeline confused me. The Mehmet suicide scene has the current Azize actress, but this one has the younger Azize and a different Dilsah). Back in the present, Azize says again, I have to find her and tell her what is going on. Nasuh is trying hard not to be disgusted with her evilness as they speed along.
At the monastery road rendezvous spot, Hazar arrives and walks to road, looking and waiting for Fusun. Soon her car arrives and parks near Hazar’s car. She tells the passenger, go now, you are free. Hazar turns and watches as a woman gets out of the car and starts walking toward the road. She is the same person that was with Mahfuz earlier. It is very dramatic as the woman and Hazar walk very slowly getting closer to each other on the road. Meanwhile, Reyyan continues to play in the snow as Miran puts the snowmaker to good use. ReyMir gaze into each other’s eyes as they stand in the snow.
As the woman approaches Hazar, we see the look on his face as his eyes go wide, he says, Dilsah? FINALLY, we see the woman’s attractive and confused face. Dilsah? Is this true? How? How? Hazar begins to cry (big surprise) and drops to his knees as the episode ends.
Thanks VERY much, VVS, for this excellent recap, complete with some great snark. And as you may have gathered, I appreciate your selectivity in reporting ReyMar's cutesy scenes.
I was somewhat confused about Fusun's intentions re Dilsah. Fusun's flunky is apparently already following Mahfouz's car when he (the flunky) calls to report that they've located her. After Fusun orders him to bring Dilsah to her at once and the call has ended, Fusun says, "There was no need to follow you. You'll come to me like a lamb to the slaughter." After a short pause, she adds, "I will kill two birds with one stone." I assume her first remarks are mentally addressed to Mahfouz. He apparently still thinks he and Fusun are on the same team. But she seems to have no more use for Mahfouz, and I assume he's one of the two birds she's planning to kill. But who is the second bird? I doubt it's Dilsah. Is it Miran, to whom she thinks she's given instructions to meet her on the monastery road? But why would she kill him, after going to considerable effort to help him? The person she really hates most is Azize, but how could she kill these two birds (Mahfouz and Azize) with one stone? Or am I taking "kill" too literally here?
I was quite annoyed with the way the writers broke up the scene where Dilsah walks up the road toward Miran. That was a very compelling scene. The last thing it needed was to be interrupted by brief cutesy views of ReyMar in the "snow."
I'm somewhat unclear about whom Dilsah expected to meet when she left the car and started walking up the road. My wild guess is that Fusun told her Miran was alive, and that's whom she's expecting to meet. Her puzzled expression as she draws closer probably indicates that she realizes the man is not Miran, but I don't think she recognizes Hazar, except perhaps at the very end of the episode. Her face remaines relatively unrevealing, unlike Hazar's. I loved the way his face showed first curiosity, the puzzlement, then shock, disbelief, and recognition. The actor playing Hazar did a terrific job in that scene.
I was also impressed by the scene between Azat and Gonul. Most often, we see a single emotion from Azat, sometimes sadness, but most often rage. But in this scene, when Gonul turns to leave and he grabs her arm and they face each other, Azat's facial expressions reveal a complex mix of anger, distrust, sympathy, and arousal. Again, bravo to the actor playing Azat.
Hi! Did anyone watch last night? I was curious to see what they've come up with, especially since the original is one of my favorite novelas. I'm not so sure about it, I find the younger generation kind of blah for now, but it was nice to see some of my favorite couples back.
Rosario and Juan&Norma's oldest son might make for an interesting scandalous pair. And I'm also curious to find out why Franco left his family.
Not sure if I'll continue watching, though. Anyone else like it?
Adriana: I watched it last night. Safe to say the Body Count will increase in Season 2 very BIGLY!
Steve Boudreaux
Adriana, I haven't watched yet but I am going to! I am in the same boat as you. Excited and scared to find out what they will do with one oy all time favorite novelas. I am worried they will ruin it but I don't think I could look away....I will be watching! Hopefully they do it justice!
I too am dying to know what happened to Franco....I am not at all happy about this idea of him leaving his family...but we will see. It wouldn't be PDG if it wasn't big time drama!
I wish I could watch live but the time slot is just too late for me as I have to be at work by 6am.
Thank You VVS! Greatly enjoyed your recap and yes, those “cutesy” scenes are getting monotonous and irritating. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a LOVE JUNKIE, but enough is enough already! Like, doesn’t Miran have a J-O-B! I know he’s always swearing that he’ll never leave Reyyan’s side, and only seems to when she’s in some kinda danger, lol, but they don’t have to go overboard with it! I could’ve sworn Reyyan kept rubbing off that kiss Miran gave her, hahaha.
I’m also wondering what “two stones” Fusun was talking about too? She only appears to hate Azize, so was she talking about Miran finding Dilsah, and hopefully him killing Azize in a fit of anger because of it?!? Killing Mahfouz cause she’s done with him?!? I hope Mahfouz doesn’t die, I do like him! Like isn’t it stupid funny how all these people talk about killing one another on the regular, yet nobody want’s anybody to become a murderer! They yell and scream not to make their husband, brother, father, friend, etc, etc, etc, a murderer, yet everyone is ready to become a murderer in red hot second! And even if you get someone else to kill someone for you, aren’t you still a murderer? Like how does the karma thing work in this situation????? Azize and Fusun are definitely murderesses! Lol
As for Dilsah, and to Juanita’s point about her maybe thinking that she was going to meet Miran, doesn't she think that Miran is dead? (according to that scene with young evil Azize). I wonder “who” she thought she was going to meet, if that’s the case??? Guess only time will tell…….
Yup, Gonul is changing into probably who she already was, like Azize is morphing back into Ayse. This whole situation made Gonul ugly and half crazy, full of revenge and ire like her grandma. Her and Azat are now at that “awareness” stage, noticing that they feel something for one another, but not sure how or even why they’re on one another’s radar. I agree Juanita about the actor playing Azat. His facial expressions are more varied now with feeling, and I’m liking it a lot!
How bout Firat straight up ignoring Yaren’s azz! Lol! She tried to get even a teensy bit of his attention and he physically ghosted her without so much as the bat of an eye! Harun noticed something was off there, too. I’m still confused about Harun though. Seems like no one in this dizi is who they appear to be? I really thought Harun was going to make Yaren’s life at least a little miserable! Maybe strong women are his kryptonite, cause he can’t seem to do anything with his mother either. I don’t like Fusun, and not because she’s probably worse than Azize, but because her threats and acting leaves me flat. Hope she gets an early retirement too, lol.
Thanks again VVS! and thank you dondi356 356 for your stellar weekend recap!
I’ll be watching too, and hoping with fingers crossed that it will be good in it’s own right! And yes, 10pm is late for me too, so I’ll be watching most episode the next day! Caught some of it, and it was nice to see the old gang. The cinematography is AWESOME!
Thank you Juanita and carmella for the morning comments and great questions. I just want complain that Telemundo moved scenes around and made the flow of the episode rather choppy. The episode was shorter because of more commercials and promos for the new show Pasión de Gavilanes.
You both noticed it in the Dilsah/Hazar reencounter. The original Turkish version is smooth and very, very dramatic. The way Telemundo showed it, Dilsah and her state of mind are a complete mystery and the contrasting scenes with ReyMir and Hazar/Dilsah are completely cut out. It was a shame, as we have been waiting so long for this reveal!
I don’t know who Fusun was talking about other than Azize when she planned on killing two birds with her one stone. I hope that Mahfuz is okay.
carmella, I am glad you brought up the Firat diss of Yaren. I missed it last night but when I rewatched it this morning on Peacock, Yaren is all smiles in seeing Firat and then busts into tears when he leaves without even a glance. Harun is definitely an onion with many layers.
I am just not that into the Gonul/Azat relationship. I am still upset about how Azat treated poor Elif.
Regarding the cutesy scenes, I am the sap on the Patio and enjoy the interactions with ReyMir. I know it is a bit much, but I had a different expectation watching my first dizi and was rudely awakened with the lack of loving, romantic scenes for the first 40+ episodes. I am good with any FF you all want to do. I will enjoy and keep my comments to myself, lol.
VVS,thank you for another excellent recap .
I hope Maf doesn't die because he is one of the few characters I like.
Fusen and her ratty fur coat and huge earrings running around puppteering.
What is going on between Yaren and Harun ?
It sure seems like the writers are trying to make Zehra unlikable to clear the way for Hacer to be with Dilsah. Yikes How can Azz be redeemed after we saw that awful flashback of young Azz and Dilsah.
And after all the mayhem of the last few episodes, we get Mir making it snow for Rey . Whatever.
If you like the actor playing Azat ,you would love the sweet character be plays in Kara Para Ask (Black Money Love) on Netf!ix.
Unknown, I can put up some highlights if no one else does but it won't be until later tonight because I can't watch until I get off work this evening.

Another wonderful recap, VVS! Why should you censor your love for ReyMir scenes? I might not watch them in their entirety, but I’d read your recounting. Thanks for letting us know about the Telemundo editing. This is why I prefer to watch dizis in their original versions.
Yaren wants to be the next wicked Lady Aslanbey. I doubt she loves Harun or ever will. Harun is a loser if he falls in love with her. I’m disappointed in Harun. I hoped he would tame Yaren but it looks like she’s got his avocados in her shopping bag.
That Azize/Dilsah flashback was horrible. I’m sorry, I can’t automatically forgive Azize.
I not sure about the two birds either. I’m thinking along the same lines as carmella. Wasn’t Fusun working with Cihan? She wants Azize to suffer, and he wants Miran out of the way. I guess she has to get rid of Mahfuz, too, since he’s got a separate agenda now.
I hope Mahfuz survives. If Azize can be forgiven, Mahfuz can, too.
Firat better steer clear of Yaren.
I like the actor who plays Azat and I’m glad they will be giving him more to do than mope or threaten to shoot someone. He was very good in KPA.
I can’t wait to see Dilsah and Hazar tonight. I agree the actor did a good job with that.
We had no volunteers to recap Pasión de Gavilanes. The activity on Caray Caray depends on volunteers putting something up. We have said many times that really detailed recaps are not required. We think that sometimes people get overwhelmed by the idea of writing a very long description of what happens in an episode.
I will watch one or two episodes to see what I think, but I'd rather drink a pint of castor oil than watch Mario Cimarro, so there's that.
It would be great if some of you fans of the first time this was shown decided to put up at least something.
I needed to be in the office today, VVS, so haven't had time to comment. I do agree 100% with those who HATED the interruption of the Dilsah reveal with ReyMir and the fake snow. I was holding my breath thinking they were never even going to show Hazar seeing her.
I now have a 3PM appointment, so must run off. But I did read your recap, VVS, and thought it was terrific!
Thanks so much deb! Still watching Osman Bey? I’m watching Destan now and enjoying it.
I’m looking forward to LRDS 3! Interesting cast for La Mujer de Mi Vida. And I suppose there will be a lot of Carayers wanting to see Fernando Colunga again.
ESDLC is coming back for an 8th season… I guess it was a matter of time. Rafael Amaya? Aurelio kicked the bucket in 7. Maybe he’s returning in flashbacks. If they bring him back from the dead, that’s too much. They finished 7 with a hell of a cliffhanger, most of the characters were dying of a fentanyl overdose and there was not enough naloxone to go around.
On a related note:
novelera, I’m proclaiming you as the author of one of my all-time favorite snarky comments: “El Señor de los Depends”. I could never remember who said it. I was looking through old Fatmagul recaps, and I found out!
Centauro
I am way behind on this one, but it's better than the run of the mill narconovela. I suspect they're showing the últimos capitulos thing because they've been running promos for another El Señor de los Cielos. Sheesh! I'm wondering if they'll do El Señor de los Depends at some point.

Centauro (not really)
Novelera, my husband in another room wanted to know what I was laughing at so loudly. It was your marvelous "Sheesh! I'm wondering if they'll do El Señor de los Depends at some point." Perfect!

Many thanks, deb, for all this information about Telemundo's upcoming offerings. I was especially glad to see that La Reina del Sur 3 is still scheduled for sometime this year. Seasons 1 and 2 were the best telenovela I've ever seen.
I was also happy to see that we'll finally get to see Fernando Colunga. I so missed him in Malverde. He would have made a tremendous difference. As it was, I finally gave up on it.
One or two of the other offerings also look somewhat promising. But no, I'll pass on El Señor de los Depends.
Excellent comments Susanlynn, dondi356 and novelera.
Susanlynn, I don’t think any of us are Zehra fans, but the writers sure are trying to make her look worse than usual. If she gets so upset with a letter, what is going to happen now that Dilsah is alive? Fusun and her ratty coat and large earrings made me laugh!
Yaren does indeed have Harun’s avocados in a shopping bag, dondi356! That avocado reference never gets old! 😊 I am with you about forgiving Azize, that is going to be a huge leap for everyone.
I am also looking forward to the Dilsah and Hazar continuation. The one hour epi is so much easier to recap and digest!
Thanks so much for the pat on the back, dondi! Yep, that Señor thing just went on waaay too long. IIRC I watched the first and the second, but that was it for me.
I am one of the Colunga groupies and look forward to seeing him again. There's just something about the guy. He's gorgeous, of course, but he almost seems to be having a laugh at all the fuss about him. I never have gotten the impression that he's got a swollen head. I read somewhere that the started with Televisa as a stunt double, doing all the difficult things the other pretty galanes weren't up for. And when he used to appear on those Cristina shows after a novela starring him had finished, he was SO personable, so pleased and grateful for the applause from the audience, and so generous with the other actors.
Theme music (same theme from 20 years ago) plays as Juan and Norma ride up on horseback to their hacienda. (This is not the same hacienda, it’s much bigger and on a grander scale) Norma comments that Juan is still following her even after 20 years. Juan helps her down and kisses her passionately. He would follow her to the eye of the world. Norma says he and her sons are the miracles of her life and he says that she is the miracle of his. This is why he has worked with his hands for 20 years to demonstrate to her what a humble man is willing to do for a woman like her. She still drives him crazy. More kissing and it’s clear they are still madly in love.
Norma reminds Juan he has an appointment. Yes, that’s right when the most honest, disciplined and honorable child! Juan sounds proud but Norma says sometimes she wishes Juan David were more like his brothers Leon and Erik, that he would have more fun and enjoy life more. Juan doesn’t want to hear that. The twins (Leon and Erik) are like demons, they are so wild he’s sure they are his punishment for something he’s done. Norma laughs and says it’s his fault because they are just like all the Reyes’, passionate and rebellious. Juan assures her they are so much like her that no matter what they did he could never stop loving them.
Elsewhere we hear a man saying ‘The day has come. I knew this day would come. I can hear the shrieking birds announcing a terrible storm. There goes all the days of peace we’ve had in this family. They are going to ruin it. Those bad seeds, those good for nothings…’ We see it’s Don Martin (now played by German Quintero)yelling in his bed.
Police are swarming a desolate area and we see teams searching the water. A couple of men get out of a police car. They don’t like this at all. The police officer asks are you sure about this? And a young man answers we are sure Matias. The search continues and divers find a body!
Don Martin shoots up in bed ‘NO!!!’ Gabriela comes running and calling Dominga for help. They try to calm him down and convince him he was only having a nightmare but he disagrees. He saw it, it’s probably happening right now.
A young man is asleep in bed, his telephone rings. He reaches for it only half opening his eyes. The voice on the phone is clearly disguised. A man says ‘How are you, Mr. Reyes’. ‘Who is this?’ It’s the same man who told you and your brother what would happen if you didn’t do what I said. The young Reyes wants his caller to take his threats and go to hell but the voice assures him it’s no longer a threat. The police have found his victim they know who you killed. We’ll see how you are going to get out of this one Mr. Reyes.
Cut to the police pulling the body out of the lake. The young man who spoke to the officer earlier is crying out papa.
The young Mr. Reyes (must be Leon since he is calling out for Erik) is racing off on his horse to find his brother fishing. He tells Erik about the phone call. The guy who was threatening them…Leon is freaked out but Erik seems unimpressed. He tries to calm his brother down but Leon says he knows about Genaro Carreno! They found him! Out by the old school! We are screwed. Erik does seem impacted by that. He runs off, Leon follows.
Back at the river, Matias is trying to comfort the young man who lost his dad and we learn his name is Felix. Felix says his dad was killed like a dog, this can’t go unpunished. Matias says they will find proof and figure out who did this. Felix wants to know how much proof is needed. They got an anonymous call saying Erik and Leon Reyes did this! Matias says an anonymous call isn’t proof, it isn’t enough to file charges and especially not against a family as influential as the Reyes.
Back at her ranch, Norma is very upset with the idea of the police entering her property by force and without a warrant. Quintina is there with her. The cop says he has his orders and asks her not to get in the way of them doing their jobs. Norma says the boys aren’t there, she’s not lying, why don’t they believe her!
Juan drives up and rushes to his wife. The very handsome Juan David is with him and he clearly didn’t inherit his dad’s short temper because he’s quick to try to calm Juan down when he immediately goes all hot-headed over the fact that the police would dare to accuse his sons of being involved in a murder. The family goes into the house the cops follow.
Gabriela is outside her home (again not the same home) looking at some handsome horses she wants them prepared for the next fair. Sarita drives up, she has come to see her mom and grandpa on the way to the Association because she has to request some transfer certificates. Gabriela tells Sarita that Don Martin has been yelling and upset all night. He didn’t sleep, Gabriela didn’t sleep, Dominga didn’t sleep. She tells Sarita that he keeps getting worse, she’s afraid she will have to put him in an old folk’s home. Sara laughs! No way, you’ve been saying it for 20 years and you just aren’t capable of it. Gaby shrugs. Let’s go get coffee instead. They are interrupted by Dominga telling them something serious is happening at Norma’s house.
Norma leads the police into Erik’s room, she spots his phone and quickly hides it. Juan is being sarcastic about the police looking under the bed. Juan David points out their search is illegal without a warrant. The police are not amused.
Leon and Erik apparently knew exactly where the dead guy was because they have taking themselves to the spot where the body was found. No mistaking it now. The police must be looking for them. Leon is trembling and crying and looks terrified. Erik is calm, collected, and clear-headed. Leon says the guy on the phone knows everything but Erik says he knows nothing, just like you and I know nothing. Leon says something about being forced to confess and they are going to take advantage of us. Erik says they won’t take advantage of anything because they won’t find us. They are going to hide at Dixie’s house. They sneak back down the hill.
Juan and Juan David are looking for the boys. Juan is grumbling about what does he have to do to keep those two busy and out of trouble. Juan David (did I mention he’s very handsome?) says his dad doesn’t have to do anything, he’s set an example. He’s backed them up. Juan is amazed at their ability to cause problems but this isn’t just any problem. Juan doesn’t believe the boys are capable of being involved in a murder.
The boys (Leon and Erik) have their horses but Erik realizes he doesn’t have his phone. He can’t call Dixie. Leon offers his phone, but of course, Erik doesn’t know the number they will just have to show up. Leon gets a call from Eric’s phone, he wants to answer thinking it could be his mom but Eric thinks it could be anyone. Leon doesn’t answer. Erik hopes no one goes through his phone for evidence.
It was Norma calling her son. She called from Erik’s phone and from hers, no answer. Quintina tries to reassure her with the same refrain everyone has said so far, the twins are a handful but they aren’t criminals they would never be involved in the murder. This is a nightmare
In Milan
We are at a fashion show. Models come out two by two. Then one woman alone, it’s Jimena!! She waves and bows. Oscar is there to give her flowers and a kiss. These two haven’t missed a beat either. They are all over each other just like Norma and Juan, clearly still in love. Jimena gives an interview, she is retiring from runways but not from fashion. She is going to start a new line with her husband, who is also her partner and manager. We see Dominga is watching this on TV and Martin is sleeping. He wakes up hearing Jimena’s voice and wants to see her. Dominga has to explain it’s just the TV. Don Martin misses Jimena a lot! And hopes she comes home soon.
The boys are still riding – taking the long way to get to Dixie’s hoping not to get caught going to town.
A convertible mustang drives up to what looks like an abandoned shopping strip. Rosario Montes gets out. She can’t believe she’s back, after all, this time, she thought she’d never be back. Her (assistant?) Gunter, asks if she’s happy? She doesn’t know she has mixed feelings. They go outside and Rosario thinks back to performing. Gunter asked her plans, can she actually settle down. She doesn’t know, it’s too soon to promise but for now, she’s going to bring back the Bar Alcala! She assures this isn’t just a whim. She needs to feel alive! She needs to prove if she can recover her freedom or if she is just making the worse mistake of her life. She will confront whatever she has to.
The boys are still riding but running out of steam. Leon doesn’t feel good. He notices Norma is texting. Erik wonders if she will check his phone. Erik tells his brother even if they incriminate us with all the proof in the world, we say nothing. Admit nothing, confess nothing. We’re innocent. Repeat after me, we are innocent. We don’t know anything about what happened to that nasty professor. All we remember is the abuse he put us through. Leon tells him to stop, he doesn’t want to remember. Erik says toughen up, you’re my brother, you’re a Reyes.
Gabriela is upset that her grandsons were accused of such a horrible crime! What’s the matter with Juan, how can he allow it? (LOL) Norma says he’s not allowing anything. He’s with them now so he can make sure nothing happens with they find the boys. He has to make sure they don’t get aggressive with the police. They talk about where and how the professor was found. It’s a solitary place, why would he be there? They discuss how miserable and unhappy the man was and how he was always very abusive toward Erik and Leon. He would punish them in horrible ways.
The boys have been riding for two hours but they are caught now. They try to make a run for it but they are trapped. Luckily Juan and Juan David are there too, they step in front of their son and brother. The boys are arrested without further trouble. On the ride back to the station Juan is actually upset that they made the boys ride in a cop car. Juan David thinks with us or with the cops it’s the same result. They discuss who could have possibly accused Erik and Leon. Juan David thinks it must have been a family member of the professor. Juan says whoever it is will have to answer for it!
Sarita arrives to a very nice-looking ranch house surrounded by property and is greeted with ‘You’re finally home, mom.’ Her son and daughter are there to greet her. They want to know want is going on. She will tell him inside.
Rosario is drinking alone because Gunter doesn’t want to. Gunter doesn’t like the place but this place and Rosario does. This is where she was rejected because of her behavior. She was used by men because they had the money. But it was also the place where she spent the best years of her life, she was admired as a woman, dancer, and singer. She should have dedicated herself to her career. Gunter said she’s had it all, a powerful husband, a beautiful daughter, and substantial fortune. Rosario says her husband was controlling, possessive and unbearable (I guess she has a type) and her daughter hates her. She chose her dad. Rosario needs to compare herself with the people she both loved and hated, to show them who she is and how she measures up. Gunter tells her he is her loyal friend wherever they go.
Sarita tells her kids about the accusations. They are the same as everyone. The cousins are crazy but incapable of this. They may have fought with kids but not with adults. Brother and sister (they haven’t been named yet) agree family is family and they will support their cousins.
Rosario is checking out her new room when the noise starts outside. They go out to see what’s going on. The police are bringing in the murder suspects and it’s a big scandal because they are from a very good family, her maid tells her. The sons of the Reyes. Rosario looks on intently but says nothing. The boys are dragged into the station, Juan and Juan David following. Juan is on the phone with his lawyer telling him to come immediately (should have made that phone call when they were still searching so he’d be there waiting by now) Juan tells the officers they can’t detain his sons without a warrant. They say they are just questioning them, you don’t know the procedures. Maybe, Juan says, but I know my sons and I won’t let you mistreat them. Juan David tries to reassure his dad. Norma shows up with Sarita and her kids. Sara says this has to be a mistake, this makes no sense. Juan David tells his aunt they are all in the dark, none of them have any idea what is going on.
The boys are questioned. They stick to the story they don’t know anything. The man was just their teacher they have nothing to do with it. He hated them but they don’t know why. When the officer asks Leon about the death of the professor we see him picturing the man being drowned in water but he keeps quiet. Erik is asked what he was doing on the day the teacher was killed and he very wisely replies ‘I don’t know, what day was he killed?’ (This one is astute!)
Sarita’s son is concerned they are being questioned without a lawyer. They are not respecting their rights. Juan David says the lawyer has been called. The comment is made who could have accused them. Felix speaks up, it was me. He introduces himself as Felix Carreno the victim’s son, he tells them he received an anonymous call informing him where his father was and that Erik and Leon had kidnapped his father and kept him at the old school. Norma calls him an idiot and says doesn’t he realize the guy on the phone could be a killer. He says he knows very well they hated his dad. Arguing briefly ensues (I mean if it were me I’d be more concerned with why someone was trying to accuse my sons ie. The caller, then I’d be with trying to argue with an obviously traumatized and grieving son who just lost his father, but shrug)
The family is back home still talking about how unfair it is the boys were accused without proof and they couldn’t even see them. Juan is upset. They shouldn’t have left them there. Juan David is the handsome voice of reason, we can’t beat everyone up. Gabriela wants to call the mayor. They have to stick together. Oscar and Jimena will put their stuff on hold. Juan says he knows his brother, if Franco finds out about this he will turn up. Sarita’s son asks his uncle to please not mention his papa (I disagree, where is Franco?? Viewerville wants to know!!)
The boys are cold and miserable but resolute. They will say nothing. Erik tells his brother he already told him everything. Leon feels horrible thinking about the death of that man, it must have been terrible. Erik tells him not to think about it. He tells his brother to never show fear even in his lowest moments. He’s proud of him.
Juan dreams about his sons they are walking to him but the crowd gets in the way he can’t get to them. He wakes up, Norma isn’t in bed (there are 3 or 4 pillows on Juan’s side of the bed and only 1 for Norma)Juan finds Norma on the balcony. She can’t sleep thinking about them. Juan jokes it’s not the first time they slept away from the house, we almost never know where they are! Juan comforts his wife and assures her they will get through this. They have to believe in their son’s innocence.
Gunter gets a secret call. It’s Muriel, Rosario’s daughter. She wants to help her dad find her mom. Gunter won’t help. Muriel warns it’s dangerous to defy her dad. She will do anything to avoid a fight between her parents. She is going to find her mom and bring her home.
The next morning the whole family goes to talk to the Mayor. There are comments about being questioned without a lawyer and comments about getting special favor because of being a Reyes. Felix wants justice, the Reyes want their son’s rights protected. The boys are ultimately to be released but they can’t go anywhere. Norma and Juan demand that Felix respects them and not question their honor, he’s done enough damage with his alleged anonymous phone call.
Juan David is waiting outside with his mom and Tia Sara when his eyes meet with Rosario’s!!! It’s definitely 'lust at first sight'. He is looking at Rosario exactly the way that his Uncle Franco looked at her when they first met. She passes by and says ‘Buenos Dias’, he returns the greeting. Norma and Sarita hear the familiar voice and look up, shocked! Juan David none the wiser, says ‘What’s wrong you look like you’ve seen a ghost’
And there the episode ends.
Okay, so maybe it's more than just highlights this time. I am willing to contribute to recapping if we have enough interest and other volunteers and want to do it as a team! :) But I can't recap every day and I can't commit to any certain timeliness since this is shown in the 10pm timeslot and I can't stay up late enough to watch it the day of, nor can I write a recap during the day when I am at work.
I do love this show! And if we don't get full recaps I will definitely be willing to comment or mention highlights, etc after I've watched.
It was an interesting first episode. You probably couldn't tell but I think I might have fallen in love with that actor who plays Juan David (he's not too young, he's not too young, he's not...he's definitely too young for me! LOL)
It drives me crazy when two parties are clearly being manipulated by a third party and are too busy arguing with each other to ask themselves 'who is the third party and WTH are they up to???' Stop fighting over 'how dare you accuse my family!' and start figuring out who the mystery caller is, please!!
Darsy Buchanan Thank you very much for the detailed recaps.
Inlove with this show already.
hi Dondi, always good to hear from you! wow! you have been really cranking out the recaps.
the 4 dizi's I'm interested in all started a new season this year so I went with the first to start, "Barbaroslar ", but they had a covid shut down so I got caught up.
It's an interesting history, as Ertugrul swept through the middle east, setting the stage for the Ottoman Empire, Barbaroslar then swept through the Mediterranean, and as there were Janissars, paid soldiers, there were also ""akıncı." unpaid they lived and operated as raiders on the frontiers of the Ottoman Empire, subsisting on plunder."
so I started watching "Destan", yes, this is a really good story and well put together, except that the plots got a little shaky around the time brother Balamir took the throne, but now it looks like Temur's chinese bride can pour a fine cup of evil.
love the balbals (grave markers).
btw, my site of choice at this time is,
https://ardirilisertugrul.net/episode/Destan-episode-1
Thank you, Daisy, that was quite the BRIEF recap haha!
It would be great to recap another show with you, we've had so much fun with La desalmada; but just like you, I don't have much time on my hands, so I might do brief highlights when I'm not working.
I'm dying to know what happened to Franco. I know they had to do things this way because Michel Brown didn't want to be part of the show at first. He came around eventually - but he won't be on for the first capitulos (not a spoiler, since it's in all the press surrounding the show).
Unknown, put a name to your writing, makes it easier to chat :)
Novelera, I'd like to give recapping a try, but the last time I did this with CAFE I gave up because there was not enough interest. I guess we'll see if this time around we have more luck gathering people.
Oh, and Darcy, you might think you're too old for Juan David, but Rosario sure seems to think otherwise. Lol! What a mess this will be - and you know I love a good mess.

Hercai2: #60 - p 1 of 3
As the episode starts, we again see an astonished Hazar exclaim to Dilsah, "You're alive!" Dilsah's hand is shaking as she hesitantly touches Hazar's face. "Hazar, it's you?" "It's me," Hazar assures her. Over and over again. Both are shedding tears. Dilsah says, "Our son, our baby died." Hazar tries to tell her that Miran is alive, but Dilsah doesn't believe him. "She told me everything. He died," insists Dilsah.
OMG! This highly charged scene is suddenly interrupted by--you guessed it--playful ReyMir. Arrgh. "When you cry, your nose becomes red like Rudolph's," Miran says. [I'm ready to throw something at the TV] The writers finally decide to make a connection to the preceding scene, so they have Miran say that he has a dream that can't come true: "I wish my mother had met you." He goes on to say that for the first time in a long time, he has dreamed of his mother. Reyyan tells him, "I never met her, but she's always in my prayers."
We then return to Hazar and Dilsah. Dilsah is still insisting that Miran is dead. She then asks to go to her mother, "so she won't be as heartbroken as I am." Hazar agrees to take Dilsah to her pueblo.
Back to ReyMir. Miran makes hot chocolate for Reyyan. She tastes it and objects to the way it's made. "This is just milk with some cocoa powder." Miran protests that it's called hot chocolate all over the world, and it's made sometimes with milk and sometimes with water. He then tells Reyyan he's glad she chased after him. He asks Lentil Umut, "Would you like to know how your mother chased after me?" FF>> Suddenly, Miran receives a phone call. He's told, "We have the man." Miran tells the caller, "Take him to the Sadoglu konak. I'll meet you there."
Hazar tells the clearly troubled Dilsah to rest, and then he'll take her back to her pueblo. He then approaches Fusun and asks how Fusun did this (I assume he means found and brought Dilsah.) Fusun tells him that the how and the why aren't important. "What's important is that I found her and brought her to you. If I hadn't found her, she'd have spent her entire life as Azize's prisoner. I told her I was bringing her to her son. That didn't make her happy, as I had thought it would." Hazar replies, "She thinks Miran died." He then asks, "Azize kept her as a prisoner?" Fusun nods her head yes. Hazar tells Fusun, "I need to prepare Dilsah and Miran to hear this truth. Please don't say anything to anyone. For now, let this be our secret." Fusun asks something of Hazar as well. "Tell your father I am not his enemy. I'm the person who will defeat his enemy and will reveal the secrets she has kept from you. You'll only benefit from my help. My intentions are good." [But if Fusun knows all the secrets, why does she refer to Azize as Nasuh's enemy?]
Presumably Hazar drives away with Dilsah, since in the next scene we see Azize drive up to where Fusun is waiting. Azize grabs Fusun by the neck and demands to know where Dilsah is. Fusun asks how she can answer when Azize is choking her. Azize backs off a bit. Fusun tells her that she called her for this, pointing to a car that was approaching. "I'll hand you over to him, and he'll give me what belongs to me" she says. Azize thinks to herself, "She doesn't have Dilsah. But who does?" The approaching car stops. Firat gets out and walks toward Fusun. Fusun tells him, "here is Azize. I've kept my word. Keep your word, Firat." Firat assures her, "I will take everything to the mansion tonight. The Aslanbey assets will remain with them" [I assume "them" means the Aslanbey family].
Hercai2: #60 - p 2 of 3
Fusun then asks Firat how he could make an arrangement with Azize. Firat, having grown some avocados, replies, "I will ask the questions and you will answer. Why did Cihan want to kidnap Miran? And did you poison Reyyan?"
We don't see Fusun answer or refuse to answer. Instead, we move to a different road, where we see a car carrying Zehra drive up and stop. Zehra has spotted Mahfouz lying on the road. Zehra seems genuinely concerned. (Hmmm) The guy she's with (her driver?) tells her that the injuries don't look all that serious. He just was beaten up. A dazed Mahfouz asks, "How did you know where to find me?" Zehra replies, "You told me I'd find you on the road to Batman. What happened?" Mahfouz tells her, "Señora Dilsah was taken." A stunned and shaken Zehra calls Hazar. His cellphone ring startles and frightens Dilsah. She's afraid they're after her again. Hazar tries to comfort her. He assures her that he won't permit anyone to take her or hurt her. Zehra hears both Hazar and Dilsah. "He found her," she says. She looks angrily at Mahfouz.
Firat is now talking with Azize and Nasuh, who has accompanied her to the meeting with Fusun. Fusun has left. Firat is trying to sort things out. He says to Azize, "You say Fusun sent Reyyan the poisoned sweets. You made a truce with the enemy after years of fighting. Is that right?" "Yes," replies Azize. Firat then asks, "How can I believe you. You've lied to me so many times." "I only lied to you once," replies Azize, "and it was to protect you." Firat responds, "That lie was enough to turn my life upside down. You've taken everything from me. I made a deal with Fusun in order to reach you." He wants to call Miran. Azize urges him not to call Miran. Calling him will make him want to kill Fusun, it will turn him into an assassin. Nasuh too urges Firat not to call Miran, at least not now. Firat asks, "Señor Nasuh, why are you an ally of this woman?" Nasuh claims it has nothing to do with Azize, "I'm protecting my grandson so he won't become an assassin and so Reyyan and her baby won't be left all alone." At that moment, Nasuh's phone rings. Miran is calling to ask him to come to the konak.
The scene shifts to the cabin. Reyyan asks Miran whether he's sure he wants to do this. Miran says it's important that we know everything, no more secrets. The two of them leave to go to the Sadoglu konak.
We see Azat and Nasuh at the konak. Both are mystified about what's happening. Then Miran and Reyyan arrive. A short time later, two other people arrive. Both are fairly young men. Miran points to one of the men and asks the assembled Sadoglus, "Do you know this man? Cihan Sadoglu can tell us who he is." Cihan tells Miran to just come out with it. Miran looks at Cihan and says, "He is one of the false police you hired to abduct me." Nasuh asks the man whether that's true. The man says it is. Miran then says, "You tried to abduct me so that Azize would be blamed." Looking at Cihan, he says "It was you who poisoned my wife." Reyyan looks at Cihan and says, "You were going to kill him." Nasuh announces that Cihan didn't send the poisoned sweets to Reyyan. The sweets were sent to everyone. A company sent them. That's why they were sent in Hazar's name. He reminds everyone that the doctor said there was no trace of poison in Reyyan's body. Sometimes strange things happen during pregnancy.
Cihan returns to the accusation that he set out to kill Miran. "Why would I kidnap him if I were going to kill him? I just wanted to teach him his place. And he shot Azat and still hasn't paid for that." At this point, Azat gives his father an exasperated "Oh, come on" look, and he says, "Miran shot me in order to save me. I believe in Miran." Cihan admits that at one time, he did want to kill Miran. But after learning that Miran was Hazar's son, he abandoned that idea. He will never hug Miran, but he doesn't want to kill him. He then says, "While we're talking about secrets, if you want to understand the situation, look to your grandfather. He and Azize had a romance. Do you know they even had a son. And their son...." Nasuh stares at Cihan. (Oops, time for the commercials.)
After the commercials, Cihan tells the story of Nasuh's love for Ayse, the fire, Nasuh's thinking that Ayse was dead, and his never asking again for Ayse. "All this is the reason behind Azize's pain and her wish for venganza. It's the reason my daughter-in-law died, the reason you, Reyyan, were left in the plaza, the reason Azat was shot, the reason my brother was slandered for years as an assassin. I've told you all I know." He doesn't come back to the identity of the son. Perhaps Nasuh's stares still have power. Cihan leaves.
Hazar has brought Dilsah to Sukran's house and has summoned a doctor to examine her. The doctor tells Hazar that Dilsah's condition is fragile, especially her mental state. He advises Hazar to consult a specialist. Zehra, who heard Dilsah say that she wanted to go back to her pueblo, has arrived at Sukran's house. She sneaks around the outside and hears the doctor's comments about Dilsah's fragile health.
Inside, Dilsah says, "I know this place. I feel as if it were yesterday." (By "this place," I assume she means the pueblo, not the house, since Sukran moved to this house long after Dilsah was gone.) Dilsah also recalls her relationship with Hazar. She asks him, "Why didn't you call when you came back from the army? Why didn't you call for 25 years?" Hazar replies, "I was told you were dead. All I had was a grave to which I brought flowers." Dilsah tells him, "I loved you so much, Hazar, but you didn't really love me." Hazar protests, "I loved you with all my heart. And still..." Zehra, standing near an open window, hears it all.
The conversation continues. Hazar asks, "Why did you hide my son from me?" "So you wouldn't die," replies Dilsah. She then asks, "Did you ever see Miran? What did he look like? Where is he buried?" Hazar tells her that he will tell her all, from the beginning. "She lied to you. Our son is alive." "Don't lie," says Dilsah. Our son is dead. Where is my mother?" Hazar tells her "Your mother lives with me." "I miss her scent," says Dilsah. "Could you take me to her? She must be heartbroken, not knowing what happened to me."
Zehra has been outside all this time, listening. She hears the front door open and quickly disappears.
Hazar stands outside the front door and thinks, "Your time will soon be up, Azize. There's no room for both of us in this world." He apparently leaves. And we see Zehra sneakily return as the episode ends.
Adriana, 'I'm dying to know what happened to Franco.' Right there with you!!! I kind of hate this turn of events but I am curious how/if Michel Brown can redeem Franco after he shows up. He's an excellent actor and he and Natasha Klauss always had great chemistry so we will see...
You have an interesting point about Rosario and age! Hehe. I read that and I thought, hmm, minus the possessive, controlling and unbearable part she always did have a thing for good looking men! I wonder what her husband looks like?
I would love to recap with you again Adriana, or highlight with you, or whatever it looks like. I will email you!

Hi Juanita! I was concerned that you might get stuck with some more of the Telemundo scene switching and you definitely did. If they had just kept the Turkish version intact, the flow would have made sense and not seemed so disjointed. I would have been the one recapping most of the ReyMir scenes on Monday, but unfortunately for you, that didn’t happen.
Even though you were annoyed, the recap is wonderful! What Azize has done to Dilsah is unforgivable. I just don’t see redemption for Azize unless she jumps in front of a bullet and dies to save Hazar or something similar.
Zehra should have just stayed with poor Mahfuz and talked to Hazar later. Unfortunately, I think she is going to do something very, very stupid.
I am surprised how far Nasuh is going to “keep Miran safe” and lying about who poisoned Reyyan. They should all go over there and kick Fusun butt.
Firat is impressing me more and more every episode. I hope he and Azize concoct a great plan to get one over on Fusun.
Thank you Juanita. I always enjoy your recaps!
Terrific recap, Juanita. We are definitely on the same page about the on-and-on, toothache inducing scenes with ReyMir. They were more interesting all those episodes where he was begging her forgiveness for leaving her at that cabin.
I was completely baffled by Nasuh saying everyone got those sweets and something about their coming from "the copany". Or to "the company". Maybe there were cuts. I only saw the guy arrive and give them to Reyyan, saying they were from Hazar.
They haven't explained why Cihan is back in the konak. Of course he needed to be there to be confronted with arranging the false arrest for Miran. Handan actually looked shocked. I guess there might be a limit for low-rent Lady Macbeth.
And Nasuh just stood there and watched for most of it. Why isn't he throwing Cihan and his poisonous wife out on the medieval streets?
Yep, I have a bad feeling about Zehra entering the house where Dilsah is now. And why did Hazar leave her there? Couldn't he have picked up the phone and had one of the ubiquitous drivers bring Sukran?
I think Firat believed Ayse. Of course it's way too soon to forgive everything. Please, please, don't let him give everything to Fusun. He needs to think about Gonul. Don't think Fusun would give her any part of the Aslanbey $$.
Thanks very much, Halimacandy and VVS, for your supportive and insightful comments.
Halimacandy, I loved your referring to ReyMir as "two yapping puppies"! YES! I also enjoyed your description of where we are in this dizi as "we are sliding into Home base." I hope you're right, and that the dizi doesn't get bogged down and get tagged out. As for the house, I'm confused. Since Sukran had all Dilsah's things in the first house we saw, and spoke of Dilsah as living there (I think), that would seem to suggest that that was Dilsah's grandfather's house. But Sukran had to leave that house and move to the house we saw last night long after Dilsah was gone. So how would Dilsah have memories of the second house? As for Dilsah's comment about scent, I remember dondi356 talking about how important scent is in Turkish culture/experience. I think she said this while we were watching an earlier dizi, but ever since then, I've been struck by how often characters in dizis mention scent. Are you suggesting that scent is important not just in Turkish cultures but in Islamic culture more broadly? I didn't know this.
VVS, thanks very much for letting me know that it was Telemundo rather than the dizi writers who made everything seem so disjointed. And I too wish that Zehra had stayed with Mahfouz rather than calling Hazar when she did. Actually, I was struck by the concern on her face when she saw Mahfouz lying on the road. I began to wonder whether she may still have some feelings for him, and whether that may be a way of working Dilsah into the story without killing off Zehra or Dilsah. I don't think this would have occurred to me had I not seen the look of concern on Zehra's face as she hurried to his side. It's quite likely that I'm making too much of that. I guess we'll see. Also, I agree with you about Azize being unredeemable except through dying to save someone good (which, of course, is far from unheard of in dizi land). And I remain confused about the poisoned postre. IIRC, it seemed quite clear at the time that Fusun sent the poisoned goodies to Reyyan. But how much of what Nasuh says is true? Did other members of the Sadoglu clan receive postre supposedly sent by Hazar? Also, I don't remember the doctor saying that there was no sign of poison in Reyyan's body. Is Nasuh making all this up to protect Cihan? Or is all this just a way of further confusing viewers?
This was probably explained long ago, but why does Firat have control of the Aslanbey assets? It has only recently been revealed that he is an Aslanbey.
Thanks very much, novelera, for your terrific comments. I loved your referring to "toothache inducing scenes." I hope someone from Telemundo is reading our Telemundo y Más discussions, especially your phrase, and Halimacandy's "two yapping puppies," and VVS's pointing out that Telemundo's editing screwed up what would have been a much clearer and less disjointed episode. Oh well....
I'm glad that you, too, were baffled by Nasuh's account of the postres.
As for Nasuh's just standing there as Cihan airs all Nasuh's dirty laundry, my guess is Nasuh was quiet in part because he felt guilty (as well he should).
And yes! I too was surprised and very uneasy when Hazar left Dilsah alone and went to get Sukran. True, he didn't know that Zehra was lurking and ready to cause trouble, but just Dilsah's very fragile mental and physical state should have prevented Hazar from leaving her alone. However, I do understand that he was in a bind. He wanted to prepare Sukran for the news that Dilsah was alive AND that she was in a very fragile state. So just calling on one of his flunkies to bring her wouldn't have been wise.
I agree that Firat shouldn't turn over all the Aslanbey assets to Fusun. She, too, seems evil to the core. Why else would she be willing to try to poison Reyyan (not to mention a pregnant Reyyan)? How else explain her telling her flunky that it would be OK if he kills Mahfouz, as long as he brings Dilsah alive? It's not clear she feels love or respect for anyone, not even for her son.
Azize and Nasuh agreed that they wouldn’t tell Miran about the poison dessert coming from Fusun so I do think he made up the whole “it came from the company with Hazar’s name on it story.” I also do not remember the doctor saying anything about there not being any poison in Reyyan’s system, but she did say that there were traces of an herb that helped stop the hemorrhaging and save Baby Lentil/Umut.
Hugo, Firat has always been the director of the Aslanbey assets and now we learned that was because he truly is an Aslanbey and not a mere servant. Sultana has always had issue with the fact Firat has all the dinero. She can’t complain now.
Hello, I don't have Telemundo but I can stream it in Peacock. I didn't see season 1. Will I be able to follow season 2 or do I need to know the characters history?
Thank you
Jean
Highlights:
The twins are released to their waiting family and they go home. Rosario watches them leave. She tells Gunter she knows the Elizondo sisters very well by denies looking at Juan David with any special interest. Gunter disagrees.
The boys are at home (in Juan’s office?) with their parents, grandma and Juan David. There’s talk about whether or not they are being interrogated in their own home or if they are simply having a family discussion. It’s clear there is some animosity between Gabriela and Juan regarding how to treat the boys. Grandma is overbearing as always. The boys deny knowing anything about the Professor’s death. Gabriela says Juan knows nothing about how they were treated because he was always so busy. Apparently it was so bad they went to live with grandma for a while. Juan remembers very well Gabriela got so used to it she almost didn’t let the boys come back home. Juan wants answers. Gaby wants the boys to be able to rest, shower, have breakfast. Juan David says maybe grandma is right trying to reason with Juan, Gaby wins. Norma sees the boys out, she gives Erik his phone back.
Gaby goes outside and finds Sarita is still there. She decided to stay she wanted to interrupt but she decided it was better not to. Gabriela admits maybe she shouldn’t have either. She has a lot of affection for Juan but they have very different ideas of how to run a household and they always end up arguing. Gaby suggests they leave together, but Sara wants to wait to say goodbye to the boys.
Norma comes outside and asks Sara what’s wrong, she tries to deny anything is wrong but doesn’t pull it off. The sisters go to talk. Sarita admits she’s been trying to pretend she’s okay with her separation from Franco but she’s not. She can’t get over him. Sometimes she thinks he will reconsider and come home, she even waits for him; then other times she thinks she’s an idiot for believing in that fantasy or a weak-willed woman who can’t survive the loss of her husband. She just doesn’t understand. They were happy! He said he loved her and then he just disappeared from one day to the next with no explanation!! They are apparently not just separated but officially divorced now. Sara has always thought maybe he was with another woman, not just any woman, but ‘her’. Norma asks what her, Rosario Montes, of course! But seeing her the other day it appears he is not, or maybe he is? Norma warns her sister not to go crazy and not to let her mind trick her into believing things.
Rosario is excitedly chatting on the phone to someone she has to see NOW! She can’t wait any longer. She doesn’t care if they are working she will come there!
Juan is talking to his handsomest son (Juan David) about the how grandma treats his brothers like kids and not adults. It devolves into another story about how the twins are demons. Apparently they were setting school fires even when they were little boys in school. Juan complains that every time he tried to discipline his children Gabriela was always right there to interfere. Juan David (wise as well as handsome) points out it only happened because Juan allowed it to. Juan acknowledges this and says he shouldn’t have. They talk about how Juan David never got into trouble and he says he’s no angel! Talk turns to whether or not he has a girlfriend. Nope, he’s dated a lot of woman but hasn’t yet met anyone special. He’s thinking back to seeing Rosario on the street. Juan says he feel in love with his mom at first sight.
Don Martin is dreaming about the boys again. He fell asleep at dinner. He prefers to eat in his room but Gabriela is tired of eating alone. They talk about the boys. Grandpa wants them to come to see him now! Gaby thinks they need to be patient the boys are in serious trouble they need to be at home right now. It becomes clear that Martin’s mind is slipping as he starts to talk about them as little boys and Gaby has to first remind him they are adults and then remind him who they are talking about.
Rosario is unpacking and setting up (costumes?) and talking to Gunter about setting up the bar. They have another question about setting up business vs. leaving town. Rosario is tired, her decision is final. Gunter seems shaken up by last nights’ phone call and is worried that Mr. Samuel (Rosario’s husband) will be here eventually to take her back. Rosario is fed up and says she’s leaving to meet something, she doesn’t need company.
Leon is cleaning up in the stables, he sees a whip and thinks back to being whipped in a classroom as a child. He thinks about a man tied to a chair begging to be let go. He gets another call from the mystery caller who is demanding money, saying he can prove the twins are guilty and send them to jail. Erik shows up and they discuss. Erik says how could he know anything, Leon says it must be someone they know well. Someone close, an employee? Erik doesn’t think so. He wants to go see their enemy, show him they aren’t scared. They don’t belong in jail.
Rosario changed her mind though because she arrives at a bar with Gunter. He hates it, it’s very Alcala-like and she loves it. We meet Rosario’s contact, Panchita! (I can’t tell if it’s the same actress, it doesn’t look like her but it sounds like her) Rosario tells Panchita she wants to reopen the bar, she wants her to be her assistant and she can perform in the new bar too, of course, she will be a star!
The twins are in town looking for the enemy, the owner of the voice. Leon thinks they are just walking in circles but Erik says no, we are going to Felix Carreno’s bar! He wants to know what that idiot knows. Leon wants to know if Felix is the extortionist. Felix tries to kick the boys out of his bar but they talk instead. The twins ask who the caller was, was it you? Are you extorting us? Felix says everyone knows how much they hated his dad and Erik says you hated your father too, he had a reputation for being violent even with his kids (Ooh) Felix thinks it sounds like they hated him more. Felix tries to deny it but Erik says he her his sister Adela say it. Matias arrives, the twins leave reluctantly.
Gunter might be as possessive as any other man in Rosario’s life because he seems jealous of the idea that Panchita might know Rosario better than him and become her assistant.
The boys come home and Juan and Norma are pissed they went out and told no one where they were going. They claim they just went out to get some air and it was no big deal. Juan says to Norma, I told you they would go get into more trouble. Oddly Leon has the bravado he has otherwise been missing all along while standing up to Papa. Juan yells, Norma hugs, parents leave. The boys talk about wanting to be independent. Leon loves living at home, Erik wants his own place to live. He wants the freedom to do whatever he wants. Leon thinks even if they are more rebellious they would be doomed without their dad. Erik agrees family is everything. He misses Uncle Oscar.
Speaking of, Oscar and Jimena are still in Milan but not for long because Gabriela is meddling again, telling Oscar exactly what is going on. Jimena takes the phone and Oscar answers a knock at the door. Flowers for Jimena. Card says, ‘You haven’t left and I miss you already.’ Signed Javier. Oscar is clearly jealous he wants to leave right away! Jimena agrees but there’s the going away party… Oscar says family is first, Jimena agrees and says she will work it out. Oscar tells her if she needs to say a special goodbye to someone to let him know, he gestures to the card. Jimena reads it and rolls her eyes at her husband.
The next morning Juan David greets his less attractive brothers with ‘Good morning ladies! (lol) He knows exactly what they did last night and one thing hasn’t changed from one generation of Reyes brothers to the next as this quickly devolves into a fistfight between Juan David and Erik. It’s clear Erik resents being compared to the perfect Juan David. He eggs his brother on until he hits him, and then it’s on. They go at it pretty good until their mom arrives to break it up. She wants to know who started it this time, they both point to Leon (That was so funny). They insist they were just playing. Juan David goes off to break in the horses after kissing mommy goodbye. Erik sends him off with ‘Ciao hermanito, te quiero’ (Goodbye, dear brother I love you!) (I laughed but Norma didn’t) The twins go back to work. Norma tells them to go visit their grandpa after they are done, he is worried about them.
Panchita visit the space of the new Bar Alcala and planning. Panchita doesn’t like Gunter any more than he likes her. Later Gunter wants to be reassured of his place in Rosario’s life. He says he changed her life by helping her catch Samuel Calle, his advice turned her into his wife instead of just another lover. Rosario assures him he is very important to her (something seems very off about their alliance)
Grandpa tells the boys he knows exactly the trouble they are in, he dreamt it. They laugh and joke and of course torment Dominga with the idea of getting them all drinks. Grandpa tells them they fell into a trap set for them by a hunter and a hyena. Erik says there are no hyenas in the forests but grandpa says there are in my dreams. Grandpa shows them his phone and says these are used to set traps. He says he saw one thrown into the water. We see a phone sinking into the water where the professor died.
A car arrives and Quintina is very excited! It’s Jimena and Oscar! She calls Norma who goes out with Juan David to greet their guests. Happy greetings all around until the twins come out. Tio Oscar assures them he is now here for them for whatever they need, I can’t tell if the boys are happy to see their uncle or not… They say nothing.
At Sarita’s house, her daughter (I think Gaby) has friends over and is playing music, dancing, and having fun at a bonfire. Sara is inside alone her son comes home. She has a headache she tells him. He says she will go and tell them to keep it down and then come eat dinner with his mom.
Back at Juan and Norma’s the family is having dinner. There seems to be some tension between Juan and Oscar. They aren’t arguing exactly, but… Juan seems upset Gabriela interfered but Norma says she did nothing wrong. Juan David tries to break the tension by suggesting they have dinner and relax and then discuss this later. Oddly Oscar isn’t satisfied, he insists he first needs to talk to his nephews alone to figure out what is going on. He tells them to get up and come talk to him. They go, Juan allows this?!
Muriel is either trying to call her mom or Gunter but she gets no answer. Dad interrupts, he doesn’t want her calling her mom. Let her do her thing, she has her timeline if she doesn’t return on her own by then he will go find her and bring her back, dead or alive!
The boys are now alone with Oscar and he says alright spill. They are going to talk about Prof Carreno. This is the same guy from a couple years ago. They say yes. Apparently, something happened a couple years ago that was a secret between just the three of them. No one else knows and they can’t find out downstairs or they will be screwed…
And there the episode ends.
Jean, I think you will be able to follow it just fine not having seen season 1. Season 1 was 20 years ago and the storyline in this is completely different. Season 1 is on Peacock too by the way but it's 180 (ish) episodes and like I said you don't need to have seen it.
Season 1 was about three brothers: Juan, Oscar, and Franco Reyes who learn their sister Libia was fooled by an older man who lied to her about being married and got her pregnant. That man dies before Libia can tell him she's pregnant and when she finds out he is dead she also finds out he had a wife and three daughters. She goes to his family (who knows why but I think probably more shock and grief than any type of logical thinking) but she is humiliated and called a gold digger and a liar. Libia is devastated and she commits suicide. Her brothers are of course devastated over her death and they don't really know exactly what happened but they decide to go to the ranch where that man lived, they will infiltrate it, find out what happened and get revenge.
Their sister's lover was the father of Norma, Sarita, and Jimena Elizondo. To make a very long story short the season is the story of how the three Reyes brothers fall in love with the three Elizondo sisters. There's a lot more - but this is what is most notable for season 2. Gabriela Elizondo - the girls' mother HATED the Reyes in the beginning but they were one big family by the end of season 1.
Characters:
Juan Reyes is married to Norma (Elizondo) Reyes: they have three sons. Juan David, Erik and Leon Reyes. Erik and Leon are twins.
Oscar Reyes is married to Jimena (Elizondo) Reyes: if they have any kids it hasn't been revealed yet.
Franco Reyes married Sarita (Elizondo) Reyes: They have a son and a daughter. Their daughter is Gaby, I still haven't gotten their son's name yet.
Gabriela Elizondo (The girls mother) and Don Martin (The girls grandpa)
The household staff:
In Gabriela's house Dominga has been there since season 1 and takes care of Don Martin.
In Juan and Norma's - Quintina has been there since season 1. Both Dominga and Quintina are like part of the family.
Rosario Montes is also back from season 1. She was a beautiful young singer and the girlfriend of Franco Reyes before he fell in love with Sarita. She had a very jealous, possessive, and dangerous criminal ex, later husband after she ended things with Franco, who died in season 1. And apparently, her tastes didn't change because husband number 2 sounds like a gem too. Panchita was her friend and another singer in season 1, who is also back.
If you have any other questions come up I will be happy to answer but my guess is with everything happening 20 years later this story is going to be pretty stand alone.
Darcy, I'm not sure how everything works, even though I put up pages every other week. But Juanita and I were told to put "tags" on each page. Those tags appear as blue links at the bottom of each new page published Monday and Thursday. The recappers and commenters are to use these tags at the beginning of a recap/comment so people logging on to Caray, Caray in the future might be able to find our recaps and comments.
We were told to use Pasion (with a capital letter) for the new season of Pasión de Gavilanes and for that to appear at the top of each recap and comment. I can't say if using the whole title means future Caray visitors can't find it, but I thought I'd mention it.
Thank you so much for your recaps, Darcy! I have recorded this week's programs so far and may try to watch some on the weekend. I'm still doing a weekly stint on Hercai, so I doubt I'll volunteer for this new novela.
Novelera, thanks for letting me know about the tag. I will use Pasion from now on.
As far as the episode goes, I was dying to know how/why Franco left his family, and now after Sarita's talk with Norma, I have even more questions! So he just disappeared one day with no word, no explanation...does that mean she hasn't spoken to him since? Is she taking it for granted that he just wanted to leave with no warning? Does he talk to his kids? His brothers? Was he involved in the divorce or did she get divorced in his absence - lack a divorce from abandonment? She made it sound like she had no idea where he was! I find this very odd...I know I said above you didn't need to know character background necessarily but I will say these are tight-knit family loyalty type characters. We've heard from several members of the family already 'family is everything'. If Franco simply decided to leave Sara for whatever reason that might be one thing, but if he disappeared and hasn't talked to anyone since it's really odd that no one in the family seems concerned or even angry - except for their son who asked Juan not to mention his father after Juan brought him up with nothing but affection in his voice. So many questions...
I like what they are doing with Gabriela's character so far. She's still very overbearing and controlling, yet she's aware of it - sort of. She has her moments, like acknowledging to Sarita that she probably shouldn't have interfered with Juan and Norma, but then she interferes anyway (Calling Oscar and Jimena) because that's who she is. I like that little struggle because I think it's realistic, you don't just change who you are hard-wired to be overnight.
One thing I meant to mention in the highlights and forgot, even though we hear Samuel Calle's (Rosario's husband) voice when he's talking to his daughter, his face was not shown. We only saw a shadowy profile of the man.
I loved the scene with the brothers fighting. There's clearly some brotherly jealousy and animosity there but there's love too, you can tell. I am so curious to know exactly what it is the twins are hiding. It was an interesting development that Felix too may have hated his dad!!
VVS, thanks very much for explaining Nasuh's odd account of the poisoned postre. I hadn't forgotten that Azize and Nasuh agreed they wouldn't tell Miran that Fusun was responsible for the poisoned postre (so Miran wouldn't become an assassin), but it didn't occur to me to link that to Nasuh's odd account. Your explanation makes good sense. I'm also relieved to know that the doctor didn't say that no poison was found in Reyyan's body. I do remember her saying that there were traces of an herb that kept Baby Lentil alive. Reyyan, of course, recognized that Azize had therefore saved Lentil's life.
Season 2, Epi 61
Part I
Cihan opened a can of worms for Nasuf who now has to fess up to the family…they want answers…did Cihan tell the truth about the great love affair between Nasuf and Azize/Ayse. Tearfully he says yes….Azize/Ayse was the love of his life. He and Ayse were so much in love but his mother separated them with her lies. He was young…and often had to travel for the family business since his father was sick. His plan was to tell his father everything once he returned from a trip. He'll deal with however his father responded…even if it means losing his dad. Unfortunately….when he returned home, he was told both Ayse and their son died in a fire. He’s choking up over all the years but Reyan cuts him off.
All those years were a living hell for them but he kept quiet questions Reyan. He tries to explain that he didn’t know Ayse was Azize. They find it hard to believe so he explains about the facial surgery Ayse had to endure due to her abusive husband. His mother led him to believe the love of his life and son were dead....and Ayse was told that Nasuf didn’t want her…he had another woman and family….this birthed Azize’s hatred and venganza. All this time…he suffered not knowing what his mother had done.
All but Reyan appear sympathetic. She dives in….he kept quiet all those years…believed his mother’s lies without investigation…but Reyan suffered…they all suffered over his great love. “How many times did you beat me because of this love” she asks. “You even tried to kill me. You blamed me for everything but none of it was my fault” she yells. Miran tries to calm her but she’s on a roll. She even calls out Handan for trying to marry her off to an old fart just to get rid of her…for a crime she never committed…why was she chosen to pay. She recalls all the damage…close calls with death .. father labeled a murderer…condemned... nightmares …all because of Nasuf. “how could you do this to your own son” she demands to know. “I’d give my life to fix it if I could” he responds. That’s useless…it won’t change a thing. She stalks off…Miran follows.
Reyan can’t believe it…ReyMir have been paying for sins that were never theirs. She’s off to confront Azize. Yes…she tried to save her pregnancy but it doesn’t erase the harm she’s done. He listen’s patiently but doesn’t want her to go after Azize…don’t break the promise they made to be happy and move on from the past. He thinks they should just ignore Azize and move on. They’ve lost enough…his mother…his childhood....Firat/Gonul/Azat lost as well. She agrees but this …Azize has to account for…and more. He can’t stop her she says. He doesn’t want their baby to suffer … she questions if he’s feeling sorry for Azize. He wants to forget and forgive she questions. No…he just doesn’t want Reyan to turn hateful and vengeful like Azize did. Not to worry…that will never happen but she will confront Azize. She’s full of love…they can talk to Azize together.
Zehra eases her way into Sukran’s shack where an unsuspecting Dilsah is sleeping. In her mind Zehra tells Dilsah she can’t stay and ruin her life…take her family. As she’s having this conversation in her head…she loses her balances, falls against the stove….it wakens Dislah who wants to know who she is. “Don’t worry…I’m Hazar’s wife”. A surprise to Dilsah. Zehra explains not only are they married but heave 3 kids including a newborn. She even shows her pictures on her phone…explaining he adopted Reyan. A worried looking Dislah takes it all in …wonders why Zehra is telling her all that. Zehra kneels before her and tells her she needs to know because her presence will confuse Hazar. Dilsah gets it and tells her that Hazar is not her concern…she just wants to tend to her son’s tomb and see her mom.

Season 2, Epi 61
Part 2
Zehra realizes that she doesn’t know about Miran…and this is where Zehra loses her fan club. She’s so threatened by Dilsah that she tells the heartless lie that Sukran is dead. Dislah doesn’t want to believe it…calls her a liar….Hazar will return with her mother…Even Azize told her Sukran is alive. Zehra…the newborn snake insists that Azize lied to give Dislah something to hope for all the while ….extending her pain. Dilsah breaks down in tears and Zehra pretends to care about her but insists that she leave. Dislah wants to know if her mother suffered …she didn’t…says Zehra…she died in her sleep from the smoke but you have to leave before Hazar returns. Think about my family and leave…you can’t stay here without him. Then Zehra slithers off.
Fusun is on the rooftop surveying her domain when her invited guest Cihan arrives. He has something to tell her and she can do with it what she likes he says. Then he drops the bomb that Hazar is the lovechild of Nasuf and Azize. Whatever happens...Hazar is not to be harmed…he doesn’t care about the others. Fusun is left to ponder this revelation. She chuckles...now she’s got Azize.
Hazar hustles back to Sukran’s shack with supplies…but there’s no Dislah. Beats himself up knowing he shouldn’t have left her alone…runs out looking for her. Meanwhile Zehra is in a taxi talking to herself…the driver listens to her mumble. She questions how could she have done what she just did to Dislah….hasn’t she learned anything from the past. NOW..…she asks for God’s help? Guess he answered cause she decides she needs to go back and tell Dislah everything. Of course it’s too late. The damage is done. Even if she finds Dislah…she tortured this lady with the death of her mother. She’s lost again ...what pain she must feel. Locked up and drugged for 30 years…son dead…freed only to learn your mother just died. How desolate and alone.
As you’d guess….Dislah is somewhere in the village walking aimless thinking she’s got nothing or no one left in this world. She’s hopeless….why is she still alive. Zehra rushes back into the shack realizing her error...decides Mahfuz is the one person who can help her. He doesn’t answer his phone so she rushes out to look for Dislah herself.
ReyMir meet up with Azize. Mahmut is told to stand down. Immediately, Reyan rips into Azize. As Reyan talks… Miran looks on….Azize cries…she’s sorry…she’s changed. Reyan’s not buying…she’s the same ole cruel person she’s always been. Azize wants to fix things….she’ll find away if they give her a chance. Forget it yells Reyan. She’s only facing her for the sake of her child and to show her she will never be like her. Reyan tells her never to cross their path again and takes off. Miran consigns everything Reyan said adds that Reyan forgot one thing “you are dead to us”. Azize cries to God to give her one more chance. Mahmut escorts her to the car.
Elsewhere Hazar is frantically searching for Dislah when Zehra calls…he doesn’t have time and tells her he’ll call her back. She can hear the panic in his voice but tries to get him to talk….he hangs up on her.
“My god…you’ve sentenced that poor woman to death” she thinks. She prays again…calls Mahfuz again. No answer. “don’t do anything stupid” she prays for Dislah…I have to find her...she thinks.

Part 3
ReyMir are in the car….Reyan is still ranting….and upset. She thought she’d feel some relief after confronting Azize but apparently she doesn’t. Miran tries to calm her. They decide to go to the park.
Zenep tends to Firat as they wait for Esma to wake up. He’s taken with Zenep’s thoughtfulness. It’s no big deal she thinks. He’s very thankful…she was glad to help….takes off.
Nasuf is on his balcony…thinking. Cihan was right…they all suffered because of his past. There’s no need to hide anything else..confess all. He calls Azize who has just returned to Esma’s. They update each other …Nasuf is ready to reveal everything…to everyone. No she panics…she’s not ready…she needs more time. She hangs up thinking there’s only one person who needs to know everything …Dislah? At this moment…Zenep exits. Azize wants to know who the heck she is. Zenep greats her and keeps it moving.
Hazar is still driving…panicking…wondering where Dislah could be…she doesn’t know anyone. Finally…he thinks back to one of the moments he read one of her letters under their tree. She’s got to be there he thinks.
Azize comes inside…Esma is still sleeping so she asks Firat to talk. She tells him he needs to stop Fusun. It's time for him to become an Aslanbey and standup for what’s his. “I’m not an Aslanbey” he replies. He doesn’t care what she and Fusun do as long as it doesn’t affect Gonul.
Elsewhere…having calmed down…ReyMir take a walk in the park. Dislah has walked to a river’s edge…thinking back to meeting Hazar there years ago. Is it the same park? Dislah thinks back to her last visit there. Hazar promised…once he completes his military service….they will never be separated. They will get married right there by the river…his father doesn’t matter. In the present…..she thinks she can’t stay there. Her son is dead…her mother dead…she has nothing to live for. She walks rapidly down the river bank away from an approaching couple…its’ ReyMir. She hides behind a tree. Miran guides Reyan toward the water. They kneel at the river’s edge…Miran plays in the water…splashing it in their faces. He teases Reyan. He got what he wanted…for her to smile. More promise to each other and the baby. Dislah looks on…they spot her…Reyan calls out to the strange lady…she doesn’t look good….maybe she needs help. Dislah doesn’t answer….Reyan edges closer.
The end.

Nett, I haven't read your recap yet, but I saw your message and have now retrieved the missing Part 2. For some reason, it went into Spam. It's now back where it belongs.
Thanks very much, Nett, for this very fine recap. I especially loved your treatment of Zehra's nastiness to Dilsah: "this is where Zehra loses her fan club," followed by "Zehra…the newborn snake," and "Then Zehra slithers off." She really is a piece of work, isn't she? I'm not a member of the Zehra fan club. I wish I were, so I could resign.
I can't decide whether Cihan was sincere when he told Fusun that his brother Hazar was the lovechild of Nasuh and Azize and no matter what else happens, Hazar is not to be hurt. At first, I thought he really meant it. But then I realized that by telling Fusun about his brother's parentage, Cihan is giving her a way to hurt Azize. Fusun's delighted, laughing response as she thinks about what she's just learned indicates that she recognizes how she can hurt Azize--by hurting Hazar, the lovechild. Was that Cihan's motive all along? I'm beginning to think it was.
I was struck by how similarly unreasonable Reyyan and Dilsah have been shown to be in these last episodes. When Reyyan berates Nasuh at the Sadoglu konak, she doesn't understand why he didn't go look for Ayse after the fire. Nasuh tells her that his mother told him that both Ayse and the baby died in the fire. Why wouldn't Nasuh believe what she has told him? Similarly, Dilsah berates Hazar for not looking for her. He tries to tell her that when he got out of the hospital, he was told that Dilsah was dead. He sees her grave, next to Mehmet's. Dilsah apparently thinks he should have ignored what he was told and what he saw. ???
So Beyazu was the place in which Dilsah finds a little solace, and it apparently works that way for ReyMir as well. I was waiting for Reyyan to call to Miran by name within the hearing of Dilsah, but it didn't happen. At least, not yet.
Thanks again, Nett. You've done a great job with an important episode.
NETT:
YES..YES!! GREAT RECAPP... WE ARE IN THE HOME STRETCH...!!
FIRE!! FIRE-UP-PON-THEIR -HEADS...BURN THEM !!...LORD...LET- US- WATCH them all ..'COOK' each other
Reyyan ..' COOKED' AZIZE....Moron let Rey, have at it... because she is able to articulate feelings and can use her words!!....
Firat... 'COOKED' .. FUSUN... and but Azize's.. BullSyt.. on 'Pause' for once
Thank you, Darcy, this has been very entertaining to read. Already showibg favorites, right? Juan David is kind of handsome, that's true.
Things that made me go huh... Oscar being close tobthe twins and Juan allowing it, just like he allows Gabriela to interfere. This is not like him at all, but I guess they had to cause conflict one way or the other.
A much better mystery would have been "where is Franco?" I couldn't care less about who killed this teacher and the twins mean nothing to long time viewers for now.
Jean, you haven't watched the first series, whya do you think so far? Darcy and I are highly subjective, because we've known these characters for a lot years (I actually watched and liked all the remakes they made ever since the first Pasion ended, so the story is still fresh in my head).
Adriana Noel
Thanks so much, Nett. Like Juanita, I really loved your takedown of Zehra. I feared just that when they ended Tuesday's episode with her still there and watching Hazar leave. I barely restrained myself from throwing a shoe through my TV when she said Sukran had died. OK, writers, she better not end up with Hazar. Mahfuz is too good for her.
The actor playing Reyyan does sad and deeply in love better than anger. For some reason her rant at Nasuh didn't really move me.
Fusun is one evil witch. I didn't really think about her harming Hazar to hurt Ayse. I guess I just thought she'd use the secret some other way.
I can't remember how Cihan learned Hazar was Ayse's son.
I'm sure Dilsah is not going to succeed in killing herself. I also doubt they'll have her find out that Miran is her son so quickly. They love to drag out secrets.
Thank you Jean and Adriana! And Jean I second what Adriana said, I am very curious to know what you think as a first time watcher!!
Adriana, 'This is not like him at all, but I guess they had to cause conflict one way or the other.' I agree! I will have to keep this in mind. But I have been shocked so far with some of the things Juan has allowed. I am trying to tell myself to just let the story develop, just let the story develop.
I agree where is Franco is the most intriguing mystery so far. It's hard to believe he could just be gone with no word and no one in the family raises so much as an eyebrow over that, but I am sure we will learn more (soon hopefully). Maybe he has been in touch some and we just haven't learned it yet.
Favorites, who me?? Lol
I will have highlights up from last night's episode a little later tonight. We finally learned the name of Sarita's son it's Andres!
Thank you Nett for another great Wednesday recap! What a bunch of craziness! I knew Zehra was an idiot, but she took the cake last night. Why was she calling Mahfuz? The poor guy was severely injured hours before, did she forget that? I was never in the fan club and plan to stay out.
Reyyan was on a terror last night and I don’t blame her, especially to GT who deserved every word of her anger. I seriously don’t know how Azize thinks anyone can forgive her. It’s a bit late to be praying to Dios for help. Azize sure did clean up quick after her night in the poso.
novelera, I think Cihan learned everything from the Hanife letter Fusun gave him. Poor Hanife, no one even asks about her.
I don’t think Dilsah will die, I do think Zehra will have some explaining to do.
Juanita...I don't think Cihan is truly concerned about Hazar. He only pretended. He is jealous of Hazar and if something happens to him...it opens the door for Cihan and his lineage. If something happens to Nasuf...and not Hazar...Hazar becomes the family head.
Yes...I knew Zehra would act weakly and selfishly...it's her natural instinct. She only shows remorse after doing something horrible...and always late to try to fix it.
I would hate that something happens to Dilsah after all those years of being drugged and locked up. What a miserable life. There is absolutely no redemption for Azize regardless of why she turned into a horrible witch. She left a trail of damage...mostly irreparable...for years. She doesn't deserve redemption. If Nasuf takes her back...so be it but if I were one of the casualties of her venganza...forget about it. Unfortunately...I think she's going to get an undeserved redemption.

Episode 3 part 1 Highlights
The episode opens on a flashback with both Erik and Leon sharing an intimate encounter with Adele Carreno. They are caught by Prof Carreno who apparently nearly killed them trying to chase them off. The boys may have been drunk because Erik is telling the story to Uncle Oscar and he says what little bit of it he can remember he is ashamed of. Leon adds that they were stupid kids who knew nothing but they didn’t force Adele to do anything, she was a willing participant. Oscar says it’s a good thing they told him and not Juan because Juan would have killed them. Oscar reveals he paid off Carreno to keep him quiet after the incident. The boys didn’t know their uncle had done that. Oscar asks if they had seen Adele every again after that and they say no. They wouldn’t even recognize her if they did probably, surely she’s changed. He asks if they ever saw the Prof again and Leon looks to Erik who gives a barely perceptible shake of his head. Leon said they say him from time to time but they purposely avoided him. They tell Oscar about the calls.
In the dinning room, Jimena tries to apologize for Oscar. She calls the boys Oscar’s favorite nephews right in front of Juan David who doesn’t seem particularly concerned. Juan thinks Oscar is stubborn and thinks he can solve everyone’s problems.
Oscar doesn’t like the sound of the anonymous caller. He doesn’t believe the story that Felix received a call, he’s going to investigate. The boys think they should wait for the lawyers but Oscar isn’t going to sit around with his arms crossed. They can’t talk him out of getting involved.
Gaby is still having her party, apparently Andres wasn’t successful in running the kids off so Sarita comes out and does it herself.
Juan and Norma now alone in their room discuss the situation. Norma thinks Oscar is harmless and has good intentions, he loves the boys. Juan is worried. He thinks his brother is reckless and aggressive, he hasn’t changed at all in all these years. He’s worried he’ll be a bad influence on the twins and get them in more trouble. Norma trusts Oscar, it’s clear husband and wife on not on the same page at all.
Jimena might be closer to team Juan, because as she and Oscar drive home Oscar is asking why she doubts him. She says she doesn’t but she looks like she does. Jimena thinks her husband oversteps his bounds, but Oscar thinks Juan is crazy and the boys are adults. They need a friend; someone they can count on. Jimena and Oscar are almost run down by a car full of rowdy teens who aren’t the least bit sorry and instead shout ‘Watch out old timer!’. Jimena notes that it looks like the car came from Sarita’s property.
Don Martin is dreaming about a huge flock of birds in a tree and mumbling in his sleep ‘They are coming, so many birds they look like they are one’. Domingo is woken by him screaming no and tries to wake him. He just says they are here, on our lands, the threats are here.
Highlights episode 3 part 2
Panchita and Rosario are at in outdoor café. Panchita is going on and on about the plans for the new bar but Rosario isn’t listening because Juan David has just walked in and she can’t take her eyes off him. When Pancha realizes she has no audience she questions her friend and Rosario asks if she knows that guy. Pancha knows him of course, everyone knows him. He’s Juan David Reyes. Rosario is worried that he's Franco’s son (I mean the JUAN David probably should have been a clue) but Pancha assures her he’s Juan’s son. Rosario says she doesn’t understand why she is so drawn to him. Panchita assures her it’s the same reason every woman in town is drawn to him! (Wise woman) He’s so handsome – look at that face, that smile, those eyes. She says all the Reyes are very good looking but Juan David is in a class by himself (See, I am not the only one who noticed!)
Pancha tells her he’s a vet and he lives on this own land like all the Reyes, not in town so Rosario is going to have to start praying if she is hoping to see him again. (For those who haven’t seen season 1 Rosario doesn’t have a good relationship at all with the Reyes brothers that is why Pancha is saying to pray because she couldn’t just go visit him at the ranch very easily)
Next morning Gaby Reyes stops her brother Andres as he is leaving for town, she needs a ride to school. They talk about the gathering last night and Andres mentions he got a bad feeling from the guy his sister was dancing with. He seemed like a lunatic and not at all like the normal college kid. Gaby names him as Nino and says he doesn’t go to school. She thinks he’s the most authentic person she knows. Andres wants to know where she met him and she says she forgot but we see she met him while he was being chased and hiding from the cops (At least I think it’s was the cops)
Rosario is still distracted thinking about Juan David. Gunter tries to engage her in conversation but she is determined to go for a drive, alone! She heads directly to the Reyes ranch – so much for Pancha’s warning. She arrives and no one is around. She enters the stables and finds Leon and Erik. Not knowing they are Reyes’ she treats them like employees and makes up some story about looking for the son of the owner to buy a horse. The boys, having no idea she just wants their brother for personal reasons, are suspicious of her lies and her timing and think she was sent by someone to trick them. They drag her into a stall demanding to know who she is and what she is doing there. And their intentions may not have been horrible but this whole scene looks bad, real BAD! She is on the ground and they are practically on top of her holding her down.
Panchita and Gunter square off again. Panchita wants to organize stuff for the bar. Gunter wants her to leave since Rosario isn’t home.
Fortunately, Quintina comes up on the scene in the stables and gets the boys off Rosario. They didn’t actually try to abuse her, but they were definitely too aggressive in that interrogation. Quintina calms everyone down and says she knows Rosario. Rosario demands to see the Reyes and she wants to report the boys until she finds out they are Reyes’ then she changes her mind and just leaves. (I don’t know why she definitely still had a right to complain) Alone again, the boys talk about how hot Rosario was, although clearly up to no good.
Episode 3 highlights part 3
Jimena and Sarita meet up on horseback, they are thrilled to see each other, they missed each other too much. Jimena thought Gaby and Andres would be with their mom but they are in San Marcos. Sara thought Oscar would be with Jimena, but she tells her sister he is acting very weird, he left very early and didn’t tell her where he was going. The sisters talk about life. Jimena tells Sara she quit the runaways because her marriage was falling apart. She still loves Oscar but sometimes she can’t stand him! He’s so possessive and insecure. Jimena says she thinks part of the problem is that they never had kids. She feels like kids really unite a couple. The irony is not lost on Sarita who had two children with her now absent husband, she assures her sister that kids aren’t a guarantee of happily ever after.
We see Oscar enter Felix’s bar. They know and remember each other and don’t like each other. Oscar reveals Felix was a witness to his interactions with his father. Flashbacks show the Professor treated his son like crap. Oscar claims that Mr. Carreno was abusive of both Felix and his sister Adela. He was a demon and had lots of enemies. Oscar thinks Felix knows very well the twins didn’t kill his father. He demands answers but Felix refuses. Oscar wants to tell to Adele but Felix claims she disappeared months ago and he doesn’t know where she is.
Gunter is trying to check on Rosario but she doesn’t want to talk. She says she doesn’t like him messing with Panchita. He asks what happened but she doesn’t tell him anything. He thinks something happened on the drive but she denies it.
Juan walks up on the employees talking shit about the twins encounter earlier and hits at least two of them. He assures them his sons are not along, if you mess with them you mess with him. He won’t let them talk about his sons in his own house. The very handsome Juan David arrives on the scene and tries to break it up. Norma and Quintina show up too. Norma convinces Juan to leave before he can do more beating. Juan David uses his words instead of his fists, and finds out about what happened. The employees admit it looked to them like his brothers had that woman in the stables because they were going to rape her.
Rosario is telling Panchita about what happened. She admits she can’t stop thinking about Juan David she couldn't resist trying to find him. She is shaken by Leon and Erik, they were horrible. She thinks they probably did kill that professor. They are savages. She isn’t going to report them though. Gunter overhears.
Erik and Leon are trying to explain what happened as if it’s nothing. They are downplaying it and saying see was very suspicious. Juan isn’t pacified and he wants to know exactly what they did to her. Did you touch her? They continue to downplay and Juan gets up from the desk, what he hears is it was two men vs one woman, right? He grabs his son’s and shakes them telling them not to mistreat a women. (100% team Juan here, they need it) Norma however says he is saying crazy things (nope that’s what happened) and she tries to get him to calm down. Juan doesn’t want her to interfere and asks her to leave. Norma refuses and when he tells her to leave again she actually slaps him! Juan leaves without saying a word. Norma runs out after him.
Juan goes to his room closing the doors and windows and refusing to speak to Norma. Juan says for the sake of their relationship it’s best he not talk to Norma right now.
Highlights episode 3 part 4
Juan David who was quiet the whole scene up til then tells his brothers their parents and now fighting because of them. He is going to fix this mess and they are going to help whether they like it or not. Tomorrow first thing they better get dressed up all nice and handsome because they are going to find that woman and apologize. Erik and Leon don’t have to do anything of the sort but Juan David tells them not to be stupid they can’t afford more problems they are already accused of murder. They need her to not press charges, they have to convince her. It’s amusing in this scene, that we see just how well Leon knows his oldest brother, Erik can push only so far and Leon knows exactly when to count (and does) 1, 2, 3, before Juan David turns aggressive. (I believe yesterday he also counted 1,2,3 before Juan David hit Erik in the fight)
Rosario is checking out her bruises, remembering the attack when Gunter enters without knocking. It quickly becomes obvious he was spying on her conversation with Pancha. He knows Rosario well. He knows she likes them young and she has helped her with her little adventures before, he can help hook her up with Juan David the same as the others.
Juan comes back into the office and Juan David is there to serve him a tequila. He tries to assure Dad he will take care of his brothers. Juan thinks it’s his job to put the twins in their place and get them to behave. Juan David says he knows but he doesn’t think they will respond to Juan because they are scared of him (not nearly scared enough in my opinion) and he thinks he can get through to them. He is their brother they feel more comfortable. Juan thinks that is the problem, they feel more secure and they will go back to doing stupid things. Juan David says no, he seems very certain he can handle this. Juan looks less sure, but he doesn’t say anything else.
Late night, Norma is in bed alone. She gets up and finds Juan in his office (?) by a fire, she tries to wake him up but he says he isn’t sleeping. She tries to get him to come to bed but he says he isn’t willing to sleep with a woman who could actually slap him in front of his children! Norma swears she didn’t mean to, that it was just an impulse and it surprised even her. She begs him to forgive her. He still refuses to leave and she says fine I won’t leave either. She sits down on her husband’s lap and starts kissing him, she doesn’t respond for a minute but then he finally puts his arms around her.
The boys are riding into town early the next morning, all three side by side by side in Juan David’s pickup truck (this is likely a nostalgia throwback to season 1 when Juan, Oscar and Franco went everywhere in Juan’s truck side by side by side). They argue about whether or not they can find her. Juan David knows who she is, Rosario Montes, Quintina knew her. He’ll be able to find her. Erik says his brother has no idea what kind of woman they are dealing with – a snake. She’s hot but a total witch! Juan David slams on the breaks and yells at his brothers telling them they are going to apologize, he doesn’t care what kind of woman she is they are going to do it, period! Are we clear? (Again, like so many times Juan slammed on the breaks to order his brothers to behave in season 1.) We are definitely learning which brother is the comedic relief as Leon puts his arm around Erik and says, ‘Hey between us, Juan David is an idiot but don’t tell anyone!’ Juan David smacks him (He’s handsome when he’s glaring too….just saying)
Episode 3 highlights part 5
The brothers arrive and walk toward Rosario’s so apparently, they did find out where it is. Erik is nervous seeing how close she lives to the police station. He suggests this could be a trap, he calls his older brother Samson (this isn’t the first time he’s called Juan David ‘Samson’) and whacks him on the back of the head. Leon says 1,2,3 again, but I don’t think Juan David actually struck this time, it was hard to tell because the motion was so fast but I think Erik just mock-ducked I didn’t see Juan David do anything except turn around. The twins are laughing….Juan David is sort of half smiling.
Gunter wakes Rosario up because she has visitors. She doesn’t want to see anyone at this hour but Gunter thinks she should. He tells her the Reyes brothers are here but makes her believe it’s just the twins. She wants to call the police; he says she shouldn’t. She finally decides she will go, and she does, with a gun! She tells Gunter not to interfere no matter what. But of course, she just finds herself holding a gun on a very surprised Juan David when she gets down the stairs.
She asks what she is doing there and he tells her if she drops the gun he will explain. She does and he introduces himself. He says his brothers want to apologize but Rosario says no, I will talk to you but not them. She doesn’t talk to animals. Juan David tries to make excuses for them but Rosario isn’t convinced, frankly I don’t think she even cares anymore now that she has him right in front of her like she wanted in the first place. He steps closer and says please, he begs her not to judge them off a first impression. She offers him her hand and says her name is Rosario Montes. He takes her hand and says ‘Please, Rosario’ she doesn’t say anything but I don’t think that smile has anything to do with changing her mind about Leon or Erik.
And there the episode ends
Nett, I'm sorry to repond so late to your comment. I agree with you about Cihan's feelings re Hazar. And you make an excellent point about how Cihan would benefit if something did happen to Hazar.
