Hercai 2 - #62 – Parte 1 de 2
Of course there’s no Mother and Son Reunion by the water. Dilsah overhears ReyMir and that Miran has made his ringtone the baby’s heartbeat.
[Is this actor playing Dilsah the same one we saw as a ghost when Miran was outside Sukran’s house all those weeks ago? She looks different to me.] Having heard ReyMir just makes Dilsah feel worse. She remembers her pregnancy and mourns the loss of Miran.
Ayse tells Firat that he’s an Aslanbey. He replies that he’s the product of a rape. He’s refusing to go back to the Aslanbey konak. She tells him that his always protecting Gonul and having been a brother to Miran has made them family. Firat tells her that she kept his mother silent all these long years. Ayse asks if he knows why she put all the properties and money in his hands. It’s so he’d receive justice.
Firat tells Ayse that her justice is as painful as her anger. She tells him that Esma would never have left her. Nihat was a dog, but Firat has nothing to be ashamed of.
Hazar “waterworks” Sadoglu is in his car swearing he’ll never abandon Dilsah.
Dilsah: “Every life has an end. If I had told you (Hazar) we were going to have a child, perhaps all would have turned out differently." Flashback to just after birth. Baby Miran is shown…how else, bellowing with rage.
Hazar talks to Dilsah in the car, saying he knows that she’s there. We see Hazar arrive at the place he thinks Dilsah has gone. He walks through the same bare trees. We see Dilsah take off her shoes, planning to join her mother and her son. She walks into the water. Hazar arrives and finds the shoes. He shouts: No! No! He sees something floating in the water, but it’s not clear to me what it is.
Zehra is back home at the Sad konak. Her remorse lasted about an hour. She’s telling herself she was right to do it. She had to do it for her family.
We get a silly scene of Reyyan putting salt on her head and then wanting to choose between a knife and a scissors to find out the sex of her baby. >>>FF They’ve turned Reyyan into an idiot.
We see some guys looking into an empty grave, mentioning Dilsah Aslanbey. Some papers will be sent to the family.
Miran has told Reyyan it’s a boy. Assume he found out the one who died was identical and a boy, so…
She thought it was a girl, seeing how happy he was. He asks her why she always wanted a boy. She replies that it’s not for the usual reason woman want sons… for the lineage. She wanted a boy who would know how to love. Most boys learn anger. They think that intimidation is power. She wants to create a man with beauty in his soul.
When Miran hears all her dreams for their son, the Sadoglu waterworks show up. Reyyan says he’ll be a bit like her father and a bit like Miran. Miran tells Reyyan that she’s the greatest richness life has ever given him. He gets a call to come to the police station (the real one).
Hercai 2 - #62 – Parte 2 de 2
After Miran leaves, Nasuh and Ayse show up. Reyyan doesn’t want to listen. [Ayda Aksel is fantastic in this scene with Reyyan. What a fabulous actor!] Ayse tells Reyyan that Hazar is her son. She reminds Reyyan how awful it is to lose a child. Unlike Reyyan, she saw Hazar’s face, nursed him, loved him. Reyyan: “How could you hurt others that way?” She replies that it was because her child burned up. We can see Reyyan being moved by this. Ayse says she suffered so; she begged God to take her. “Help me! Let me be Ayse again. Let me fix this. Let me hear my son call me mother only once before I die."
Reyyan asks how she can give Miran back his childhood. She took the woman Reyyan’s father loved from him. She took Miran’s mother. You can’t revive the dead! [Oh, yes, you can.] Reyyan thinks that her father will never forgive Ayse. Ayse asks her to help. Reyyan storms off and Nasuh comforts Ayse.
Miran is in the police station. He’s been waiting a long while and Reyyan calls him. She asks to stay on the line to find out what’s going on. The commander tells him that there was un derrumbe (collapse) in the Aslanbey plot. The tomb that was for Dilsah Aslanbey is empty. Shocked, Miran drops the phone. Reyyan gets upset. She thinks the bull will come back. She says there’s no way to stop him. She thinks he’ll kill his grandmother.
Firat and Ayse arrive at the Aslanbey konak and Ayse shouts for Fusun. Gonul embraces Esma, happy to see her back. Harun and Yaren look on, surprised. Fusun comes to the top of the balcony where Azize used to glare down and smirks. “Don’t you have anything better to do than come here to see the transfer? Why did you come. You behave as if you’re going to stay” Ayse: “Don’t worry, Fusun. We’ll get you another bedroom.” Firat hands Fusun a document and says it’s all signed and certified.
Fusun leafts through the papers. ¿Me estás tomando el pelo? (Are you mocking me…making fun of me?) She says his name is everywhere. Firat replies that he promised her the property of the Aslanbey would remain with the Aslanbey. And he’s complied. Ayse smiles. “Firat is the son of your brother Nihat that he had with Esma…Firat Aslanbey. You are an Aslanbey, but you can only stay here with his authorization.” [How sweet it is to see that smirk wiped off Fusun’s face!]
Zehra appeals to Nasuh. She asks him if Hazar might have come home angry and then left again. She begs him to find Hazar. He asks her if there’s something going on he should know, and of course she lies again.
Yaren tells Harun she can’t live in the same house with “them”. [the ones who know what a snake she is] When he asks if she had something with Firat, she slaps him. He reminds her that they’re only married on paper and it’s not as if he didn’t divorce her because he loves her. Looking very pleased Yaren tells herself that he’s fallen in love.
At the Sadoglu konak Hazar comes in. As Nasuh and Zehra look on, he addresses Sukran. “Señora Sukran, at last I’ve brought you your daughter. We see Dilsah (not even looking wet) and Sukran look at each other. And we see Zehra’s astonished face.
NOVELERA..
THANKS A BUNCH.PERFECT RECAP.. AS WE HEAD into the HOMESTRETCH!!
How the heck did Azie think she is entitled to forgiveness.....!!Reyyan... was on point and correct...'EFF-BOTH-OF-YALL'!!
The tomb...finally being found. IS REAL REAL BAD!!!...it's beyond 'Haram' /sinful...desecration and punishable by death...
.... as we know the perfumed body is put in place in earth most likey ..with only a SHROUD...AND ATTAR/OUM OILS and not a box /optional/as this is the Middle East/but Turkey?/may depend on ethnic group? shrouded body placed in the earth/Mazar. I notice some$$$ money marble enclosure?? .
Miran is OVER Justified to kill MadMutt and Azize for Impeding a faithful's JUDGEMENT DAY/RESURRECTION preparations for the afterlife.. [body must in tack...mandatory] ...VIOLATIONS: Interference in a Believers sanctity. Azize is GONNA DIE!! FATWA: EXECUTION based on religious violations...
I HAD TO LAUGH... at you cold bust of FUSUN... did you notice how Firat walked in with his CHEST PUFF/PUSHED OUT!!!!
DILSAH..!! VAYA.VAYA! VAYA...WELL! WELL! WELL! MAS-ALLAH! MAS-ALLAH...MAS-ALLAH!!
Great recap novelera! I love how you make fun of these folks, and honestly, a lot of the things they say and do are so laughable! “Waterworks” lol——-EXACTLY! I swear Hazar reminds me of “Doc” in Back to the Future, when he isn’t crying that is, lol! It’s like he’s always going in circles and scratching his head! Only difference between them is that under all of that quirky confused state, Doc was brilliant. Hazar, not so much, lol. What does Hazar do anyway?????
Zehra has never been a favorite of mine ( sorry Halimacandy) but what she did to Dilsah is also unforgivable. It was selfish, pure and simple, with a SUPER big dose of insecurity shown. How is she any different from someone who would intentionally keep a mother from her child? Zehra hasn’t learned anything from all the pain that this family has been through, and her moment of remorse was a joke. Personally, I think Dilsah will also prove crazy as a loon-a-tic, but she does have every right to be reunited with her mother and son. I also think that Hazar’s words from the previous episode about him being dead and/or dying just sealed his fate, plus this will be both Nasuh and Ayse’s karmic destiny for all the pain that they’ve both doled out over the years——- as Reyyan so soulfully reiterated. Reyyan is getting on my nerves with all these emotionally charged moments she’s been having as of late, but I tolerate these moments because she’s right and shouldn’t carry them around anymore. Her baby, though, will probably be depressed for a year! It’s “TEWWWW” much for lil lentil to feel all this angst!
Great seeing Fusun’s “smirk” fade to black! I’m glad everything is Firat’s by right, and Fusun is left to eat dirt. I know she’s not down and out though, cause she’s a nasty old bitty with tricks up her sleeve, but it’s wonderful seeing her knocked off guard! It threw Yaren for a loop ,too, cause her plans to be lady of the mansion have just died. Bet she’s kicking herself that she didn’t truly give Firat a chance. Part of me does believe that she really liked him.
Okay foristas, put on your body armor and keep those earplugs handy, cause it looks like we’re going to get some more repulsive “Miran madness” coming our way! Yikes!!
Thank you Juanita, VVS, Nett for great recaps that I wasn’t able to respond to. Hopefully work will get better soon. Thanks again novelera!
Thanks VERY much, novelera, for this terrific recap, complete with some great asides and even some useful Spanish. (I especially appreciated tomando el pelo).
I was hoping that Dilsah would hear Reyyan when she finally called Miran by name, but apparently she didn't. Silly me, how could I not realize that hearing him called Miran would perhaps interfere with the obligatory seeming suicide?
I LOVED "Hazar 'waterworks' Sadoglu" and "Baby Miran is shown…how else, bellowing with rage." When Reyyan thinks her son will be a bit like her father and a bit like Miran, I thought "Oh, the poor kid will spend his days crying and raging."
I'm glad you FF>> through the silliness with Reyyan using absurd "tests" to determine the baby's sex. I thought we had more than enough of that in an earlier episode. As you say, the writers are really making her look like an idiot.
One thing that interested me about the police officer's statement about Dilsah's empty grave was his saying that apparently it had never contained a body. That would make it clear to Miran that this isn't a case of someone stealing a body from the grave or mutilating a gravesite that had contained a body.
The scene with Yaren and Harun confused me somewhat. Harun tells her they're married only on paper, and when she asks him why he hadn't divorced her, he replies that it certainly wasn't because he had fallen in love with her. I took that to mean that he still doesn't love her, but Yaren seems very happy, feeling that Harun has finally fallen in love. Huh?
I thought the actor playing Hazar did an impressive job of gradually changing his facial expression from serious to gentle when he addressed Sukran. And, like you, I was surprised that neither Dilsah nor Hazar (who I assumed jumped in to rescue her, though I too couldn't make out what he had seen in the water) showed any sign of being wet. Hmmm...
Thanks again, novelera, for this excellent, concise, and delightful recap!
Terrific recap novelera! Except for the last couple of scenes, it felt like a “filler” episode and you still managed to make it a very entertaining read!
During my travels in the miliary, I found that many cultures have customs/rituals similar to what Reyyan did to determine the sex of an unborn baby. I am not surprised that Turkey would be similar. Reyyan has always demonstrated she is a bit superstitious and I found it funny that it was Melike’s grandmother who shared the traditions.
What I didn’t understand was why Dilsah’s grave had collapsed? I know Azize had the headstone destroyed, but what caused the cave in? So now Miran will go all raging bull again to kill Azize? That is definitely getting old.
I am glad Sukran will finally be reunited with Dilsah. Thank you novelera!
Novelera, I was especially grateful for your excellent recap because I was unable to watch this episode.
Glad that Firat is large and in charge .
Poor Dilsah held captive all those years. How can anyone forgive Azz for that ?
Sorry everyone, I fell behind again. Thank you Juanita, Nett and novelera for great recaps and helping me stay on track.
I can't forgive Azize yet, and I don't know if I ever will. I'm not calling her Ayse, she doesn't deserve it. That would be total crap if they sacrifice Hazar to redeem Azize.
Not sure why Reyyan is blaming Nasuh for Azize's revenge. He believed she was dead. How was he supposed to look for her? Anyway, I thought Rey forgave GT for mistreating her.
Zehra is unwatchable for me.
Liking Firat more and more.
That dope Harun fell for Yaren. I think Yaren correctly sensed it from his denial.
There were people in my family who had "ways" of determining gender of an unborn baby. But we are not Turkish.
I'll second carmella's comment:
"Okay foristas, put on your body armor and keep those earplugs handy, cause it looks like we’re going to get some more repulsive “Miran madness” coming our way! Yikes!!"
I assure you I will do the recap for tonight's show, in spite of Miran and Zehra. It will be up tomorrow.
Am I the only one who re-reads my recaps and beats myself up a little bit for not having said things in a MUCH better way.
I should have said: "No Mother and Child Reunion". I was trying to do a callback to Paul Simon but I blew it.
Dondi, I think you answered Juanita's question. I listened to that scene with Yaren and Harun over and over again. He DID say it's not as if he wouldn't divorce her because he DIDN'T love her. He was protesting too much and Yaren saw through it. I still wish he'd pushed her around a little bit, the way they hinted he might at the beginning. It's hard to tell if she's delighted because she may be beginning to feel something herself or if she thinks this gives her an edge. I know she's worried about living with Firat and Ayse. Firat caught on to her games. And she gave Ayse something in the car, forged divorce papers supposedly signed by Reyyan - to cause trouble.
Season 2 Episode 4 part 1
Juan David predictably wins over Rosario and she agrees to talk to the boys. They come in and give the most pathetic half-hearted apologies you could possibly imagine. They more blame her than apologize. Rosario isn’t stupid enough to accept that, she shows her bruises and calls them cynical. Juan David has to intervene again, the situation escalates until Juan David tells his brothers that if they don’t apologize for real, like real people with respect then he will support Rosario in reporting them to the police. This finally changes the twins tunes and they apologize for real. They even offer to sell her a horse if that’s what she wants. But Rosario says she only wants to deal with Juan David (can’t blame her there). He smiles charmingly and graciously offers to help her with anything she wants or needs, she looks like she can’t wait to take him up on that offer. Long lingering looks as they shake hands.
Juan is seen looking for the twins, Quintina tells him they went out with Juan David, he doesn’t look pleased. He looks downright worried. Later Juan and Norma are talking they are worried, but Norma thinks they should trust Juan David. Juan has a bad feeling they are in danger (good instincts).
As the boys leave, the twins are back to calling Rosario names and Juan David defends her and says his brothers are animals they should be ashamed of how they treated her (yep). There’s some jesting and teasing about whether or not that lady has Juan David under her spell. Juan David is just glad the issue is settled and he begs his brothers to not get into more trouble.
Rosario lets Gunter have it for not telling her Juan David was there with his brothers. He says he knew how much she wanted to see him so he decided to surprise her, lol. Gunter thinks the encounter should have proven to her that he’s just an ordinary young man, nothing special. Rosario whole heartedly disagrees, he is a very special young man. So special just the thought of seeing him again makes her nervous.
Jimena has come to see Norma who is staring at Juan. She shares with Jimena they had a serious fight last night. She tells her about the encounter with that woman. Jimena shares her own husband trouble. Oscar is being weird. He’s almost never home, he leaves and says nothing, she doesn’t know where he goes.
Oscar is out in a field on a horse. We see him approach a young boy – Duvan. He greets him with a hug and talks about how big he is. Jimena had said to Norma that Oscar knew no one in the country but apparently she’s wrong. He gives the young boy a horseback ride and an expensive present – a chain. He asks him whatever he wants and promises him a bike. He asks how is everything, does he need anything? The little boy wants to see him more often. Oscar says he will. An angry woman comes storming out of the home they have arrived at and demands Duvan go back inside.
Now inside the woman is interrogating Oscar. Complaining about it being too long since he’s been there. He says she has no reason to complain he sends money all the time. She wants more than money, she wants attention for the boy, and herself too! She starts to strip telling him she needs him. She is the mother of his son! They fight over whether or not she gets conjugal privileges. She brings up Jimena but Oscar says not to mention her. He only came to see Duvan, now he’s seen him and he’s leaving. She makes a comment about not waiting another three months before seeing him. Duval walks in on their argument. Oscar tells his son he loves him and leaves without giving the woman what she wants.
Season 2 Episode 4 part 2
Norma and Jimena are trying to get Juan to eat. He’s too worried but the boys return quickly and he can see for themselves that they are fine. They say they will tell their parents everything.
Rosario and Pancha are talking to the mayor and he’s falling all over himself to help her reopen the bar Alcala! They talk about forms and right tape and getting things up and going. He wants to be called by his name not Mr. Mayor. We see he is leaving Gabriela and Sarita waiting while drooling over Rosario. They are upset they have been waiting so long. They figure it must be someone very important. They are surprised to see Rosario and Panchita walk out. Rosario and Panchita both say 'Buenos Dias'. Sarita responds with, ‘Buenos Dias Panchita.’ Gabriela speaks to Rosario. She isn’t exactly rude but she isn’t walm and welcoming either. They learn Rosario is planning to stay in town indefinitely.
The family is having a meal and the ladies are relived the situation is resolved. Juan has his doubts. He doesn’t think it would be so easily solved. Juan David says it wasn’t easy. He goes on (with a straight face) to say however, that his brothers comporting themselves as such gentlemen with such sincerity and manners that she forgave them. (The look on Norma’s face says she knows her sons too well to believe this) Juan is also too smart to buy this. They finally get dad to feel a little better about this until it's finally revealed just who this woman was – Rosario Montes! And the table goes quiet as all the adults look at each other uncomfortably. Juan David noticed, not sure the twins did.
Later Juan and Norma are discussing the issue. Juan can’t believe Rosario Montes was there fighting with their little devils (his words not mine) right under their noses and they didn’t know it. Norma tells him she knew she was back in town because she saw her in town the day the twins were released, but she had no idea she was involved with the incident in the stables. As is becoming the norm, Juan is suspicious about this supposed ‘coincidence’ but Norma thinks he is paranoid and it’s probably nothing.
Sara and Gabriela get home still talking about Rosario. They talk about how much money it must be costing her to rebuild Bar Alcala in the spot she chose and they wonder how she got the money. She left town a penniless failed singer. Sara says it’s been 20 years and anything could have happened. She doesn’t have any hard feelings toward Rosario, she wishes her well but she wishes she was far away. She doesn’t want to see her it brings back horrible memories! Andres was raised well because he comes out to greet his mom and grandma with kisses on their cheeks and he takes their bags from them to carry inside. He mentions Gaby is still at school before going back in. Gabriela declines to stay for coffee, she worries if she leaves Don Martin alone for too long even if Dominga is there.
Juan David is washing down his horse with his shirt off (because God loves me – check out those abs!) he thinks back to Rosario pulling a gun on him and then later taking his hand. He gets so worked up he has to run off and tell one of the employees to finish the horse.
Elsewhere Rosario is also too busy obsessing about that meeting to listen to Panchita. She can’t stop thinking about him. What is he doing, feeling, is he thinking about her too? Is he feeling what she’s feeling. Panchita thinks is a bad, very bad.
Juan David corners Panchita to get the 4-1-1 on Rosario Montes but she doesn’t want to talk. She doesn’t like talking about people behind their backs and she didn’t know Rosario well. She thinks someone else in the family would be better suited to tell him about her (I agree here. I am shocked that Juan and Norma didn’t tell all three of the boys exactly who she was at the table). Juan David lets her off the hook and says he knows exactly who in the family he can ask! He kisses her on the cheek says ‘Gracias Quintina) and runs off like a man on a mission!
Season 2 Episode 4 part 3
Juan David rides up to a thrilled Don Martin who can’t believe his luck at getting a visitor. I was actually thinking that he chose the perfect person to go to for all the gossip!!! But it turns out he was hoping to find Gabriela? (I guess… she definitely likes to give her opinion) Don Martin is undaunted. He wants to celebrate the visit with Rum! LOL Juan David keeps saying no but he does stay to chat with his great-grandpa. Martin asks what Juan David wanted to talk to Gabriela about (he calls her bruja, which is throwback to season 1 before Gabriela started playing nice Don Martin always called her a bruja) and he admits he wanted to talk about Rosario Montes. Of course, Don Martin knows her! He starts describing what she is like physically – a very hilarious and flattering (mostly) description. Juan David laughs and says he meant he wanted to know what kind of person she was inside (have I mentioned I love him?). Martin is a total gentleman and simply says that although she was involved in some unpleasant things and horrible people, he can’t judge whether or not she was a good or bad person because people make mistakes. He says the only thing he can tell Juan David is to draw his own conclusions, which sounds all well and good but I think he should have at least told him Rosario is his uncle Franco’s ex, that seems like an important detail. Don Martin thinks he earned his rum, Juan David gives in.
Sarita is worried because Gaby hasn’t come home yet. Andres says she probably hasn’t found a ride home yet. Her phones off. Sara doesn’t understand why Gaby won’t learn to drive – she would buy her a car. Andres says she wants a motorcycle and Sara says over her dead body, Gaby is too crazy. She worries and says the area is more dangerous than ever.
At the school, we see Gaby’s friend Nino standing by a car with a dead body in it. It’s unclear whether the car crashed or not. He looks nervous, cagy. Gaby comes up and wants to know what’s going on. He claims not to know. She asks what’s wrong but he claims he is just not used to seeing dead bodies. Apparently, the guy was shot Nino heard the shots. Gaby asks for a ride but Nino can’t. He’s um….in a hurry, he can’t even walk her. She keeps asking what’s wrong he insists nothing, but he looks terrified.
Gunter is singing the same this town sucks song as he tells Rosario about how the guy got shot to death in his car just three blocks away during a simple theft. Rosario is unimpressed. There are dangers and risks everywhere, she’s staying he can’t scare her into leaving. She returned for a reason… She leaves him with her half full drink, he drinks it.
Oscar’s side-chick(?) is alone in the shack with her godmother. Smoking pot or a cigar. She discusses with her daughter how to take advantage of the fact that Oscar’s back. The chick claims he’s tried many times to pressure Oscar with Duval it never works. The godmother thinks she should be happy he pays all her bills but this chick wants more – she wants Jimena’s place, to be always with Oscar enjoying his fortune. This gets a laugh and the godmother says don’t hold your breathe. Jimena is a supermodel who keeps herself looking young. Ms. Side chick thinks she can compete and her godmother says she will help her win Oscar over.
Gaby can’t find a taxi so she is walking home. A man in a car is following her and pulls over. He offers her a ride several times but she refuses adamantly! He watches her walk off and another car pulls up we don’t see who it is but Gaby looks impacted by the arrival. Definitely nervous, maybe scared?
And we won’t find out until tomorrow.
Thank you so much Darcy for your recap! So appreciate the time and effort put in to produce a darn good one! I’ve just caught up and so far, this novela is moving along pretty well. I just can’t believe that Oscar stepped out on his beloved Jimena, and I can only imagine what her reaction will be when she discovers that he has an outside child——if the boy is indeed his child. He seems to believe that the boy is, so I guess that’s all that matters. Still, I don’t think it’ll be so much the boy that matters to Jimena than the betrayal.
I’m not feeling Juan David and Rosario at all. There are no sparks igniting for me, and it seems like, right now, that Rosario is a cougar that has done this type of thing before…..and before…..and before…… I’m hoping that like his Uncle Franco, his very own “Sarita” will show up. Rosario and Gunter who is a her friend? sidekick? servant ? bird man or whatever? have the strangest relationship! Is he a loyal enemy, or just a pitiful shell of a man who adores her from afar, but knows he can never have her ? The plot, I’m sure will thicken.
Those twins are the devil’s spawns, and their antics aren’t just boys being boys. I don’t like them, and Norma is a MEGA enabler! If her and Juan go through any kind breakup in this novela, it will be because of those imps who need a serious beatdown! Hopefully her and Juan are solid as a rock.
Gabriela has seemed to only change a little bit, and is also an “enabler.” She seems to still be quick to place blame. Don Martin just seems mental at this point, and I hope he won’t be relegated to just a crazy old man who makes eerie but accurate predictions. He’s refreshing though, in his own way!
Thanks again Darcy Buchanan for a great recap!
Thank you Carmella! I agree with you. Not felling the Juan David and Rosario connection either. At the very beginning I was intrigued to find out how much Rosario might have changed. I also kind of agreed with Don Martin's description of her in season 1. She definitely made bad choices but she also went through a lot of abuse. I thought maybe if they redeemed the character it might be interesting to see who Rosario is now. But she doesn't seem to have changed much. Maybe still not a bad person necessarily but still living a dangerous and mysterious life. Remember the husband who is going to drag her home alive or dead one of these days??? Plus, she is Juan David's uncle's ex. I don't know how much men care about stuff like that but from my perspective, yuck!
Young innocent, devastatingly handsome Juan David needs a different kind of woman entirely as you said, his own Sarita.
I have so many questions about Oscar stepping out on Jimena...something smells fishy in all that but I am reserving opinion for the minute. I do like Gabriela's non-change change. I think it's really realistic. She is softer in some ways, she acknowledges her mistakes but she still struggles against her own nature. She is definitely an enabler and Norma seems to have inherited that from her mom! It's definitely an interesting family dynamic...
The twins seem awful to me too. They were way out of line with Rosario! Way way out of line. Norma should have let Juan beat some sense into them. It cracks me up how they are with Juan David though. They definitely are trying to capture some of that three brothers fighting and playing with each other magic from season 1.
Mild spoilers for anyone who has not watched last night’s episode……
Ok, so what is Oscar’s deal? I agree with you Darcy that something smells “fishy.” Why is he playing detective all in the name of helping the twins? And why would he cheat on Jimena in the first place? Was that love scene with baby mama recent, or when it first happened between them? Jimena will be devastated and I don’t know if their marriage will survive? I don’t question that he loves Jimena, I believe he does without a doubt, but there would be no child if there was no betrayal in the first place. I know that the story may be deeper than what we’re seeing now, but I’m still disappointed in Oscar. Things happen in peoples lives though, and if Jimena forgives him this transgression, who am I?
Second, what is Rosario’s deal? She was hell bent on pursuing this “connection” that she has with Juan David, but looks pretty interested in Andres, especially after his reveal that he is Franco and Sarita’s son. What kind of game is Rosario going to play? I’m not really interested in why she returned to San Marcos, but it’s a major part of the plot right now. I would’ve liked to see redemption in her too, but attempting to engage with young men half her age is not a redemptive characteristic. Still, it’s too early to make a judgment call. Gunter is downright scary! He must have something on Rosario, lol.
Gaby is another one who seems kinda reckless. Why hasn’t she learned to drive if she’s going to be galavanting around at all hours of the night? Obviously Sarita can’t control her, and I wonder if Franco’s absence has a lot to do with her rebellious nature? I do hope we get to see more of Franco——even if it’s in little bits and pieces.
Juan is still a little wooden, lol……guess some things never change……..
Season 2 Episode 5 Part 1
Back to Gaby walking down the street and fortunately, it’s Tio Oscar pulling up. He gives her a ride home. The creepy guy still watching is rubbing his fingers back and forth on the steering wheel, and staring after Oscar’s car.
Family dinner at Casa de Juan and no one is talking. Juan David is thinking back on what Don Martin said about Rosario. Erik complains it is too quiet and tries to leave, Juan orders him to sit. Norma asks Juan David where he disappeared to and he tells her about visiting Martin. They talk about how he is slipping and says crazier things all the time. Norma says it’s normal for his age. Juan brings up they have to make statements tomorrow and Oscar has to go too. He doesn’t know what Oscar has to do with this. Erik says at least now they are having a family discussion.
Jimena and Oscar get into an argument when Oscar comes home. She wants to know what he is up to. He accuses her of being controlling. She accuses him of pretending she doesn’t exist. She tells him about the incident with the twins and Rosario Montes. She’s surprised he didn’t know since his excuse is being involved in the twins’ problems. Jimena feels like he is distancing himself from her. She tells him that she loves him but if he doesn’t want her anymore and wants something else he should leave. Oscar tries to tell her he loves her but she’s not listening, she doesn’t believe him; she knows he’s hiding something. She refuses to sleep in the same room as him that night.
Alone in bed, Oscar flashes back having sex with the other woman. He tells her he likes her but he’s a married man and he really loves his wife. He does not enjoy the memory; he sits up in bed agitated.
The next morning, Oscar wakes Jimena to tell her he’s off to give his statement. He wanted to make sure she was okay. He assures her what she said last night was not true. He loves her with all his soul, she is the love of his life. He is still completely in love with her. She tells him she doesn’t know if she should believe him, she is unsure. He says he will prove it to her. He swears his life is with her and asks her to believe him.
Oscar, Juan, the Twins, Felix Carreno, and a bunch of investigators are in the meeting. They accuse Oscar of interfering in the investigation. They bring up his going to Felix’s bar to intimidate him. Juan is surprised Oscar did that. Oscar brings up that it’s odd Adela has disappeared and he thinks they should look for her. The officers say that’s their job, not his. They suggest Oscar is obstructing justice and probably sent the Twins to Felix’s bar as well (this is news to Juan). Erik admits they went but Oscar had nothing to do with it, he wasn’t even in the country when that happened. Oscar is forbidden to get further involved. He is forbidden to go near Felix or his business. Juan stays oddly silent throughout this whole encounter, even when Oscar suggests the twins are like HIS sons.
Gaby and Sarita are arguing because Sarita is in a hurry and Gabby is always running late and leaving things till the last minute. They also argue about her coming in so late last night and what could have happened if Uncle Oscar hadn’t happened to run into her and bring her home. Andres comes down and asks why they are fighting. He is carrying his guitar and can’t pick Gaby up at school because he is rehearsing all day, the band has a gig this weekend. He starts to head outside and Sara asks where he’s going. He says he’s just putting things in the car, he has to leave in an hour and he wants to get everything ready. (I guess we know which kid doesn’t leave things until the last minute! Lol)
Season 2 Episode 5 Part 2
The Reyes’ are leaving the police station and Oscar is complaining about his rights being violated but Juan thinks he should be grateful he wasn’t punished. Oscar thinks Juan is taking their side and Juan thinks his little brother should butt out. Take care of your business, your boutique, and your wife! He walks off, the Twins say it’s better if Oscar doesn’t fight with dad. Leon wants him to leave Adela out of it too! Things are bad enough without getting women involved in this. Speaking of women, Oscar asks about the issue with Rosario. Juan is impatient and tells the boys to come. The boys say they will tell their uncle later. They do mention where Rosario lives before they leave.
Oscar takes off to scout it out. He sees the Bar Alcala sign and looks around. If he actually goes in we don’t see it.
Gaby arrives to talk to Juan David. She asks about him coming to see her yesterday. They start to talk about Rosario. Juan David claims he only asked because of the issue with the twins. Gaby’s version is less diplomatic but she still doesn’t just come out and say what happened between Franco and Rosario! (Why? Maybe no one except the twins has noticed that Juan David is clearly infatuated?)She declares they will have a family meeting to talk about that woman!
Rosario is rehearsing with some dancers preparing to open the bar. It’s not right though. They need a choreographer and a director of music, stat! Gunter is looking (creepily) too close at Rosario. He thinks maybe she does have it as a dancer and he’s surprised. He is hoping this will distract her from her obsession but she assures him it won’t. He doesn’t think Juan David will come back looking for her but she doesn’t care. If he doesn’t search her out she will go look for him. She has an open invitation to come to see about a horse!
Gabriela has her family meeting and she is complaining they are hiding things from her. Juan looks semi-amused by this show and Gabriela is just saying the same things she was saying to Sara about how strange it is Rosario has so much money and how her presence could mean problems for the family. Juan David pretends to be bored until he hears Rosario married a multi-million. He pipes up with ‘She’s married?’ but no, she’s divorced. Gabriela keeps going on about Rosario’s plans. Norma gets up and asks Juan David what is wrong, he’s too quiet. He claims he is just bored, he’s going to the stables that Senora isn’t important. (Uh-huh)
Sara is still complaining to Gaby about her behavior. She is messy and she has changed in the last few months. She doesn’t pay attention, she’s rebellious. Gaby isn’t listening she’s on her phone. Once Sara finally gets Gaby’s attention she suggests her mom find a boyfriend and get married again because loneness is killing her. Sarita isn’t interested in replacing Franco, she had one husband and that’s it for her. Sara would prefer Gaby’s silence to talking about this!
Oscar is spending time with Jimena. He tells her about Bar Alcala. They are close to Juan’s house and Jimena finds it suspicious that Oscar doesn’t want to visit. He says he just doesn’t want to show up unannounced but she points out that they never announce their visits. Oscar just says he’s been thinking about butting out. Concentrating on her and their businesses, Jimena likes that idea. They kiss.
Gaby and Sarita arrive at school. Sarita says she will try to get back to pick her up. Gaby thinks her mom is very busy and shouldn’t worry about it. Sara says it’s her time and she knows how to manage it. When she mentions going by the bank, Gaby says to be careful because there’s been a lot of muggings lately.
Season 2 Episode 5 Part 3
Rosario and Panchita are in their new dressing room. Pancha is fussing over how great everything is, Rosario is thinking about Juan David and not listening again. Pancha warns obsessions are not good but Rosario says her obsessions are the only thing that shake her out of her apathy and give her a reason to live. She is going to go seek out Juan David today! Gunter is listening… Pancha thinks this is a very bad idea.
Gunter goes to get an object (some tool) from the garage. He looks ominously at Rosario’s car. (Seriously this guy gets creepier every episode)Rosario leaves a bit later and Gunter watches her go. He checks his watch.
Oscar is apparently done concentrating on Jimena because he’s browsing a bike store. Sarita spots him as she’s driving by (I don’t know how she managed that) they decide to go get a coffee since they haven’t talked in a while.
More Gunter and Pancha sizing each other up, the only notable thing in this is that Pancha too has noticed how Gunter is a little too intense and possessive.
Rosario is driving toward the Reyes Ranch and her car breaks down (can you believe it?) she is annoyed and perplexed, but not enough to ask Gunter for assistance when he calls right on schedule. She tries to flag down assistance. The first car passes but the second stops, it’s Andres Reyes (but she doesn’t know that yet). She does look like she likes what she sees.
Andres tries to help, but mechanics clearly isn’t his thing cuz it’s a no-go. He's exhausted his knowledge. Rosario is confused it’s a practically new car she doesn’t know what is wrong. Andres apologizes that he can’t help but offers to call a mechanic he knows. Rosario appreciates him trying and asks what she owes her. Andres says no way I didn’t even fix it and even if I had I couldn’t charge you this isn’t my job (Looks like there’s more than one gentleman in the newest generation of Reyes’) Andres gets a call, the band is upset he’s late but he says they have to wait. Rosario apologizes for causing him problems but he says not to worry she isn’t causing him any problems. You don’t abandon a woman who is in need of help. (aw, and I don’t even think he’s hitting on her just being sincere)
Oscar and Sara are walking in the park and talking about Oscar going back to the boutique. Sara asks about the bike again but Oscar says he was looking for himself because he likes bikes. There were kids’ bikes outside but adult bikes inside where he was looking. They also discuss Gaby and Andres and how Gaby is so independent and Sara needs to look out for her because these streets are getting nervous. Oscar tells her about the death in the car. Sara makes a comment about worrying about Andres too, but he’s more careful and she doesn’t think he will get into trouble (little does she know he’s looking at trouble as she speaks)
Rosario tells Andres he can go since he did what he could, she tells him she will call her assistant to come help. But he says no need, he can call the mechanic he knows to take care of the car and then he can take her to her house or wherever she was going. She mentions she was headed to the Reyes hacienda to look at a horse. Andres asks if she means the ranch of Juan Reyes and Rosario perks up. Do you know them? Very well, Andres replies, I am a Reyes too, Andres Reyes he introduces himself. He clarifies he is the son of Franco Reyes and Sarita Elizondo. Rosario seems very intrigued by running into Franco’s son (will she abandon her pursuit of Juan David now that she is face to face with Franco’s son?) – she will at least for today, she states she doesn’t even need to go to the ranch anymore, another day, you can take me back to San Marco.
This episode ends the same way the episode ended a couple days ago with Juan David except this time it is to Andres Reyes that Rosario extends her hand and says ‘I am Rosario Montes’
And there you have it, it was an eventful first week! Friday's episode was definitely impactful! They built a lot of intrigues already. I can't wait til Adriana joins me next week in recapping! :)
Carmella, I agree with you 100%! I don't think Rosario will actually abandon her obsession with Juan David, even though I did mention the possibility in the recap and she did seem intrigued by the idea of knowing Franco's son. She was very obsessed with Franco and I am sure there is still some residue of that. Andres is a cute kid, but he's not exactly in his cousin's league. Juan David she is genuinely attracted to, well wholeheartedly obsessed with....she will give five minutes to the pursuit of getting to know Andres, and then she will be right back to her obsession over Juan David.
Something still seems off about Oscar cheating on Jimena. I am guessing that wasn't recent memory but the memory of how Duval was conceived. The godmother had said something about helping that chick trap Oscar once. I am wondering if there is more to this than just the typical stepping out, but it's too soon to say. He definitely didn't seem like he was relishing that memory, more like tortured by it.
I agree something is up with Gaby. Could have to do with Franco's absence, but I am also wondering what happened a few months ago since Sara said Gaby had changed in just that last few months. Plus her friend Nino is sketchy as hell. It's interesting.
Yeah, Juan is wooden, and oddly very quiet just sitting back and observing. It's hard to believe he is actually this passive 20 years later. I am expecting this to be the calm before the storm, but we will see.
I like that Andres seems like a good guy with good values. The twins seem like complete jackasses, I think I have probably said enough about what I think about Juan David, lo. We have two good gentlemen to balance out the two devil children...so far.
Thanks for your recap Darcy! Stellar! It has been a good and eventful opening week, and I’m sure there will be more and more layers to be revealed. Have to ditto you on Juan David! He is definitely eye candy with morals and values to boot! I also have to agree with you regarding Rosario’s obsession, plus he’s a bit taken with her too. I’m wondering if we’ll get shades of the movie “The Graduate,” where Rosario is Juan David’s “Mrs. Robinson,” but he eventually falls in love with her daughter???? That would be an interesting plot!
Andres is a good guy, and handsome too. He and JD do balance the awful Erik and Leon. I don’t know which twin is worse! Erik is openly arrogant and defiant while Leon is sneaky and goes along with whatever Erik wants to do. It’s hard to like either one of them.
Thanks again Darcy! I hope this novela will be as good as it’s potential!
No, Sukran, that is not a ghost. It is your daughter, Dilsah. I’m alive, mother, she tells Sukran, I came to you. Dilsah weeps and embraces her mother who is in a state of shock. Zehra’s eyes dart over to Hazar, who is fixed on the reunion. The others on the patio are stunned.
Sukran finally realizes this is not a dream and dissolves into tears and into Dilsah’s arms. She feels faint and needs to be supported. They told me you were dead, Sukran says, I yearned for the scent of my baby. She asks the big question, where have you been? Dilsah gives a slight turn of the head in Zehra’s direction and says, the wicked ones… they are everywhere. After so many years…they still… Dilsah is overcome with memory and emotion and faints. Hazar catches her and carries her up to Reyyan’s room.
Zehra starts to follow but Handan stops her. See, what did I tell you? I’ll repeat it for you—either send this woman away, or it won’t be long before you are out on the street.
Cut to the Aslanbey konak. Azize asks, why the disappointed face, Fusun? You were out there talking about your lineage with everyone. Look, your lineage continues, your brother’s son is here. Fusun answers, even if this story is true, will you live in this mansion under the protection of the man you sacrificed all these years?
I have a great sense of justice… in my own way, Azize replies. You should be thankful. If I wanted, I could take away everything that you have and leave you yearning for your father’s house. But I didn’t do it. He (Firat) is your brother’s heir. One left and the other arrived. Fusun figures that Azize had this all worked out beforehand. Smug smile from Azize. Fusun continues, sure, after Miran, you needed new victims like Firat. Don’t mix Miran up in this matter, Azize says.
¡Hablando del Rey de Roma, por la [konak] puerta asoma!
Azize Aslanbey! Miran approaches Azize, with his gun aimed. Patio roaches plead, don’t do this and he warns them to back off. Miran asks Azize, you think I can’t kill you, right? You don’t think I will pull the trigger to end all the suffering you have caused? You prepared the perfect plan to avenge your son and you didn’t think about playing with the mind of a small child. You thought, “I’ll burn them all”, and that it would never touch you.
Miran continues, you thought right. I can’t be your murderer for this. But…for my mother, the woman I love, and for my son, I’m going to pull this trigger without hesitation and will not look back. Fusun is enjoying this. Firat tries to reason with Miran. He ignores him and keeps his gun on Azize.
What are you going to tell me now, Azize Aslanbey, Miran asks, why is my mother’s grave empty?! Azize rushes to answer, Miran, there is something I must tell you… Miran shouts back, answer my question! Please let me speak, Azize begs. Miran wants no games, just the answer. Why is my mother’s grave empty?! Tell me!
Azize obliges, because your mother is still alive. This echoes in Miran’s head. His aim falters. Reyyan appears at the konak door. Roaches are stunned. Miran short circuits and starts his puffing and panting. What are you saying, he asks? How is my mother alive? I’ll kill you, Azize Aslanbey. How is my mother alive? Answer!
Fusun speaks up, you heard right, boy. Dilsah is alive. I was going to turn her over to you, but when your father showed up I turned her over to him. But don’t worry, she’s safe now. Miran cries and looks lost. He drops the gun and runs off, shouting for his mother. Rey starts to run after him but gets a pain. Firat and Gonul help her out of the konak.
Fusun turns her attention to Azize. The acrobat let go of the rope, she says. You’re not going to follow Miran? You don’t want to see your finished work? I’m going to go, she tells Azize. I’m going to tell the Sadoglus who is their friend and who is their enemy. Let me tell them what Dilsah went through all this time.
Harun tries to order his mother not to go anywhere. You gave Dilsah to Hazar. He asks, what are you going to do there now? Leave them alone let them live their pain and their joy. Fusun lets Harun know he’s crossing the line. He answers that he and Aslan wanted to end this rage. That rage took him and we lost him. We didn’t lose Aslan, Fusun shoots back, they did it. Who are they, Harun asks, Reyyan and Miran? No matter how you try to hide it, you blame them.
Fusun denies it. Then show me, Harun says, don’t go. But if you do, I’m leaving this konak. Fusun reminds Harun that she is his mother, and he is not to speak to her this way. She warns him not to get involved in this matter. She starts walking and Harun issues his own warning—if you go, you will lose me. [does she really care about her son?] She walks.
Firat, Reyyan and Gonul hop in a car to go chase down Miran. Fusun gets in her car, too. Harun orders Yaren to get ready to leave. He wants to stay at the hotel. Surprisingly, she doesn’t give him a hard time with that.
Azize and Esma step outside the konak. Esma’s got questions. Dilsah is alive? How could you do this? How could your conscience be at peace with this? I was overcome by my rage, Azize replies. Why didn’t you tell me, Esma asks? You hid it from me and made me believe she was dead. If you knew, Azize answers, I wouldn’t have been able to stop you. What to we do now, Esma asks, how do we explain this? Azize replies, this is the first time in my life I don’t know what to do.
We see Miran running full speed through the streets calling for his mother, with Azize’s revelation ringing in his head.
Dilsah is resting on Reyyan’s bed. She asks for her mother and Hazar says she’s downstairs. When she saw you, she got excited. [Does Nasuh catch Zehra’s guilty look? Maybe they are both feeling guilty.] Hazar tells Dilsah to rest and asks for some dry clothes for her. Zehra volunteers to give some of Rey’s things. Hazar thanks her, and if he only knew…. Hazar and Nasuh leave the room and Zehra asks Melike to make some soup for Dilsah.
Hazar hasn’t gone very far. He’s sitting outside the bedroom door. Zehra dares to reach out to Dilsah, who is facing away from her. Dilsah flinches and Zehra recoils. I know you are upset with me, Zehra starts, you’re right. Seems Hazar can hear through the door and he’s about to get an earful!
Zehra continues, believe me, what I did wasn’t for an evil reason, but out of fear of losing Hazar. I did it because he would have been confused with your presence here. Zehra asks, did you try to take your own life? But believe me, I came back to look for you. I regretted what I did and that’s why I returned. I didn’t find you. All I did, I did for my husband and for my daughters.
Zehra has the unmitigated gall to ask, please don’t tell Hazar [!] If he knows that I told you your mother was dead (Hazar rises from his seat), he will know I was the one who made you run, and he will never forgive me. My home will be destroyed. I beg you Dilsah. Zehra puts her hand on Dilsah’s shoulder and Dilsah turns to look at her. Don’t tell him, Zehra begs and cries, don’t tell anyone, please.
Hazar has his head in his hands. What did you do? What did you do, Zehra? He goes up the stairs.
The search for Miran continues. What fate is this, Gonul asks, how could something like this happen? Rey says she doesn’t know what happened or how it happened, but this is not fate. The more I think about it, the crazier I get. Miran longed for his mother all his life. He kissed the tombstone, he spoke to her at her grave. What unscrupulousness to separate a boy from his mother for all these years?
Gonul tells Rey to keep calm. Miran needs your help more than ever. Rey thinks she’s right, but she can’t help it. Should I be happy they found each other? Should I be upset because they were separated all these years? Why did she never come? What happened? Firat says, let them reunite and we will learn it all.
Azat is about to arrive home on foot. He takes out his phone and thinks about calling Gonul. He stops himself, what were you going to say? I wanted to hear your voice? Just then, Miran comes running by. Azat slows Miran down, asking, what happened? Miran breathlessly answers, annem (my mother), and rushes inside the konak. Azat is WTH? Your mother? Next, Firat’s car comes screeching up, and the occupants hurry out past Azat who gets no answer as to what is happening. Azat follows them inside.
Miran asks Sukran if it is true. Sukran struggles with the words. Miran asks, my mother…is alive? Hazar shows up on the patio. Papa? Dilsah descends the stairs. Miran’s mouth gapes, he can’t speak. Stunned silence on the patio.
Dilsah nears Sukran, and as she calls out to her mother, Miran tearfully calls out to her—annem! Dilsah is taken aback. Who are you? My son is dead, she says. Hazar tells her it’s Miran… our son. Dilsah is confused, she believes her son is dead. Miran speaks up, but… mom… I’m not dead. I’m here, I’m your son. He reaches out for Dilsah. She withdraws and becomes agitated. No, no… take your hands off me, don’t touch me… my son is dead. I don’t know who you are.
Sukran assures her it’s Miran, your son, my grandson. Dilsah thinks she’s lying. She begs her mother not to lie. I finally accepted the truth, she says, my son is dead. Hazar tries to get her to listen. He swears this is their son, Miran.
Dilsah refuses to listen or accept their truth. She thinks they are lying to her. My son is dead, she repeats. He is not my son. Miran was a little boy when he died, she sobs. She wants Miran to leave. He asks her a stupid question: who told you that I was dead?
We see the culprit lurking at the door—Azize. And Fusun walks up behind her and pushes the doors wide open. Everyone turns. Fusun says, who else could it be? It’s Azize. Dilsah is panic-stricken. Both Miran and Hazar have to be held back. They threaten to kill Azize.
Fusun continues, she kept her locked up like a prisoner all these years. Who knows for what insidious plan she separated a boy from his mother? I ripped her away from those tyrannical hands. I saved her. Let Dilsah say this herself. Dilsah is cowering, unable to speak. Fusun comments, look at poor Dilsah! Miran tries another run at Azize, but he’s stopped.
Fusun tells Miran she didn’t know who she would find when she entered that house, but she realized it was a game. Look, I reunited you with your mother. And Azize made her believe that her son was dead. Miran turns to his mother and asks, did she tell you that? Did Azize tell you I was dead?
Dilsah stutters that Miran should leave. She wants Azize to leave, too. She says all she has is her mother. Miran asks, where do you want me to go? He turns to Azize, you did this? She replies, no matter what I do now, you’re not going to forgive me, right?
Miran shouts at her, how do you talk of forgiveness?! How can you keep talking about forgiveness?! Don’t you have any shame?! A little dignity? You stole my mother from me. You stole my mother and my father from me. You stole who I was, my family, my childhood! I would kill you right here, but you don’t even deserve to die! Do you know what you deserve?
I know, she replies and turns to walk out of the konak. Where are you going, Miran shouts after her, come back! You have to answer for this. Come here!
Azize walks down the street. She shouts, everyone out! Everyone out of your houses! Mahmut tries to stop her, she warns him to step aside. No matter what happens, don’t stop me. Everyone files out of the konak and follows Azize as she heads down the streets, shouting and banging on doors for everyone to come out. There will be no more tricks, she cries out, now you will know the whole truth. Finally, tonight, we will be accountable! Everything will end!
Miran wonders what Azize is plotting now. People begin to come out of their houses and join the march. Azize shouts out, it’s necessary for everyone to know. They think it’s all my fault but there are things in this story that no one knows. That is why it is time for the truth! She wants everyone to witness this truth.
Miran shouts for Azize to stop the show. What are you plotting?! You must account to me, Azize Hanım! Azize tells him to have patience and she will. The procession continues through the streets. God has his own time, but now the time has come for the truth. Fusun trails behind. She wonders, what are you doing, Azize? What is this show about? Like a lot of scenes in this dizi, it goes on and on.
Dilsah and Sukran are in the bedroom. Dilsah asks if everyone is gone. She asks if Azize is going to take her away again. Sukran promises that no one will ever take her away again. She won’t permit it, Hazar won’t permit it and Miran won’t permit it. Don’t be afraid.
Dilsah plays that broken record again, Miran is dead, my son is dead. Everything would have been alright. If I had known how to take care of him, none of this would have happened. The accident wouldn’t have happened. What accident, Sukran asks? A car ran him over, Dilsah replies. She cries, my baby died. Once again, Sukran tries to convince her that Miran is alive and again Dilsah refuses to believe it. Dilsah explains she couldn’t escape to be with her son. Azize kept her locked up like a prisoner all those years.
We see Zehra and Melike have been listening outside the door. Zehra thinks to herself, what did you do to this poor woman?
And here comes Handan, who stops to look at Zehra and then walks by. She hides herself and calls Cihan. Where are you, she asks? All hell is breaking loose here, you can’t imagine. Dilsah is resurrected from the dead and she’s at the mansion now. Miran will kill Azize. Azize took everyone with her. Cihan asks, Dilsah is alive? He heads off somewhere.
Azize leads everyone to the town square. This is where we stay, she tells everyone, because I deserve to be here. Some time ago, I threw Reyyan out on this plaza. She was wearing her wedding gown. She was innocent, she had no sin. But I had no mercy. She begged me but I was cruel. Rey says “enough” under her breath.
Azize continues, I tricked Miran over the years. I tricked him with lies. I tried to intentionally make him his father’s enemy. I had no mercy. I separated Dilsah from Hazar. It was for my revenge. Nasuh tries to stop her, but she can’t be stopped.
Everything I did was for my stupid revenge, she cries out. I hurt people, I destroyed homes. Do you understand? I made many people cry. I destroyed their lives, she tells the crowd. Look….look…. I am Azize Aslanbey! I committed many sins, I am guilty! Yell at me! Curse me! Get angry! Say something! I am a sinner, it’s true. I told Miran his mother was dead and she believed her son and her mother were dead.
Not only them, Azize wails, but I hurt my whole family. I tortured everyone. She faces Gonul and says, I put my own DIL in a manicomio and I stole her son, Aslan. I did it. Firat comforts Gonul but Azat looks like he wanted to do it.
I hurt so many people, Azize confesses, and I never cared if I destroyed their lives. I hurt people without mercy. But you more than anyone else, she says to ReyMir. She asks them to say something, get angry, curse her. She’s ready to hear it.
People in the crowd begin to speak out. “These lands have never seen anyone like you.” “Shame on you!” “Disgraceful woman!” “Get out of here!” “Don’t you fear God?” “Repent!” “How could anyone do this to another person.” [you get the idea]
Handan enters the kitchen. This is too much! After all these years, this is the first time I think Yaren is right. The drama and suffering never end in this house. Not even sage or pouring of lead will help. Handan asks Melike to make her a coffee. First, she has to make chamomile tea for Zehra. Handan replies, you should give her something to wake her up because here comes the second wife. She needs to keep her eyes open. Handan laughs.
Melike cries and Handan mocks that she’s worried about all the work she will have to do with a third DIL around. She also says that Melike is no fun to gossip with and that Hanife should be here now. [when is Azize going to come clean about that?]
Melike asks Handan if, as the mother of daughters, she cares at all about what has happened. Zehra walks in and hears. Handan calls Melike naïve. Think, girl. Why did my BIL decide to bring that woman here? Zehra makes her presence known—don’t you have any shame, she asks Handan. You never are ashamed to laugh at the pain of others. Aren’t you part of this family?
I behaved like a member of this family, Handan replies, I warned you about this at the start. And the result is obvious. If I were in your place, I’d listen to what I say. You should feel a little fearful of the ashes that remain of an unfinished love. Melike tells Zehra not to listen. Zehra takes her tea and leaves.
Back to the town square. Miran asks Azize, what do you think you’re doing? I’m giving myself the punishment that you won’t give me, she replies, I deserve to be punished by the people. Rey flashes back to being dumped in her wedding dress. People in the crowd talk: “Miran is a Sadoglu, he is Nasuh Ağa’s grandson.” More insults are thrown at Azize.
I know you will never forgive me, Azize tells Miran. You think by doing this I will forgive you, he replies. Do you think that you will be able to forgive yourself like this? Never. Forget it. You stole my mother from me, you stole everything. Whatever I had you stretched out your hand and took it from me.
Miran continues, I thought you were my grandmother. I loved you, did you know? I believed you. How many nights did I seek refuge in you? How many nights did I sleep by your side so I could feel the scent of my mother? I was a boy. Didn’t you have pity when you told me my mother died? When you decided to snatch her away from me? Didn’t your conscience hurt? And I have a father…. and a mother. Haven’t you ever felt shame? You never felt fear of your sins while you raised me as an orphan? More crowd insults are hurled at Azize.
Azize says she is repentant. Miran doesn’t think so because she is Azize Aslanbey and she is never sorry for anything. She never shows mercy, she never forgives. She doesn’t care. And now you come here in front of the whole world, he says, to humiliate yourself and ask forgiveness? You didn’t clean any of your sins. Even if you were thrown into this square a thousand times, you can’t give me back what you took from me! From Reyyan, from my father, from my mother, you can’t give back what you took. You hear me?
Azize gives a slight nod. Miran, I know the price of my sins and I know how you can find the peace you need. He shakes his head and clicks his tongue. She continues, I know this world is not for the both of us. Azize makes a sudden move and grabs Mahmut’s gun! She holds it to her temple!
There are gasps. Gonul cries out for her grandmother. Nasuh begs, Ayse…Ayse don’t do it. Miran looks okay with it. Rey looks alarmed.
Azize tells Miran her sin is too big, but her pain is bigger. Pain doesn’t make people grow, it dominates them. It seizes their mind. If your heart allows, don’t remember me as bad. Remember me as a woman who lost her head over the pain of her son.
Azize is ready to end it when Rey lunges and grabs onto the gun. Miran and Azat jump in, and a struggle for control ensues. We hear a gunshot. We get a scan of the crowd and then we see the stunned faces of Rey, Azize, Miran, Azat, Hazar, Nasuh. Firat and Gonul hold onto each other. We end on Reyyan’s closeup.
Who was shot? We will have to wait until Monday because we are out!
I enjoyed the recap dondi356, thank you! I really enjoyed: “¡Hablando del Rey de Roma, por la [konak] puerta asoma!” Miran wasn’t as crazed as I though he might become.
Fusun is good at playing the good witch to Azize’s bad witch.
Azat was a bit funny trying to decide to call Gonul when all heck broke loose and everyone just streamed past him into the konak.
Dilsah has every right to think everyone is working for Azize, Zehra didn’t help herself at all did she? Those porous doors are a menace.
Finally, someone mentioned poor, dead Hanife. Too bad it was Handan.
The Midyat square scenes were well done and acted even by Miran. Who is shooting who? The cinematography was similar to the Hanife/Robot/Azize shooting scene as well. I don’t think anyone will die though.
Many thanks, dondi356, for another excellent recap.
I hadn't expected that Dilsah would refuse to believe that Miran is alive. An interesting development. However, with scent being so important, couldn't Miran simply get close enough to Dilsah so that she can smell his scent, a scent she would remember from several years of raising him?
I too noticed Nasuh looking oddly at Zehra as her face has a guilty look. I'm not sure that will prove important, however. Thanks to the porous door (thanks VVS), Hazaar already knows what Zehra has done.
And why in the world does Dilsah say, " If I had known how to take care of [Miran], none of this would have happened." Huh? How does a car supposedly running over Miran have anything to do with Dilsah's supposedly not knowing how to take care of him? Is this just a sign that Dilsah is even more crazed than we thought?
You ask when Azize is going to come clean about who Hanife was and what happened to her. Does that really matter any more in terms of the plot?
Yes, I too found it odd that Azat wanted to call Gonul amidst all the chaos. I don't know that it made any sense, except to point out what is already pretty obvious--he's attractd to her.
The lengthy final scene of Azize trying frantically to confess her sins to the world somehow didn't work for me. There have been times when I've felt somewhat sorry for Azize/Ayse, but this final scene seemed too repetitive of earlier ones in this and other episodes and thus simply tedious. What you said about a different scene seems to apply very well to this one, too: "Like a lot of scenes in this dizi, it goes on and on."
Terrific recap, dondi! Thanks for the full hablando del Rey de Roma, I had never heard the puerta asoma added to the phrase.
I noticed that, when Azize showed up at the Sadoglu konak the major black eye makeup was back. I had enjoyed seeing her more normal eyes.
I think Viewerville, certainly this one, enjoy more restrained galanes. We were all dreading Miran's huffing and puffing. And he pays no attention to the pregnant wife he's so concerned about that he won't let her go back and forth on a swing. But he subjects her to one of his meltdowns.
I am kind of over Dilsah saying her son is dead. She knows what kind of evil witch her MIL has been to her. Why won't she believe she's cruel enough to tell her a lie about her son being dead? I guess they're going with her being a bit deranged.
Loved "Miran short circuits"! Perfect!
I can't tell if it's the actor or the role, but I just can't stand Fusun.
OK, this is modern-day Turkey. They drive around in fancy cars. Is there any truth to this portrayal of only the male line mattering? Ayse told Fusun she could only live in her family home if Firat said it was all right. OK, I loathe Fusun, but this is presented as perfectly plausible that a daughter of a family is subject to her nephew.
I got a kick out of Gonul putting out her hand in the car and Reyyan holding it. "Ok, ok, you tried to smother me in my bed, but now I accept you."
Where is Mahfuz?
I suppose some of the weeks to come will deal with Aslan rising from his bed with Sultana's help. Dare we hope the flames scorched the obsession for Reyyan out of his head?
Again, thanks so much for your recap, dondi. Very well written indeed.
Excellent, excellent recap dondi356! Perfect! Yes Miran also surprised me a little bit with his less than usual histrionics, lol, but he’s still a hot head who doesn’t give a fried egg about anyone’s feelings when he explodes, much less Reyyan’s. I know Reyyan hasn’t had the opportunity to tell him the whole truth about his true parentage also including Azize, and if she decides to withhold it (for Miran’s own good of course) he will blow up like he always does when he finds our, and make no doubt about it, he will find out!
Dilsah is also OTT! No wonder Miran is a neurotic blowhard! I’m not excusing Azize’s part in all this, but Miran appears to have some effed up emotional genes inherited from both Hazar and Dilsah. Zehra looked guiltier than ever, and I wonder how soon it will be before Hazar confronts her?
As much as I hate all the evil things that Azize has done, I can’t hate her anymore. I don’t feel sorry for her in the least, but I’m not experiencing as much joy at her comeuppance as I thought I would. I look at it like this, if she works as hard to redeem her past actions as much as she partook in them, then maybe she does deserve the chance to right the wrongs that she’s able to. She will ALWAYS have to live with the consequences of what she’s done, including and especially the disdain of her loved one’s. How simply this all could’ve been resolved if she’d just confronted Nasuh a long time ago.
I’m with you novelera regarding Fusun. I think this part went to the wrong actress! And yes! Where is Mahfouz? And where’s the sulkmaster Cihan during this latest drama? As for Handan ( Hateful instigator that she is) she needs to go and stick that nasty tongue of hers in an electrical socket!
Bet you it was Azize that got shot——- cause they wouldn’t do that to Reyyan! At least I hope not!
Thanks again dondi356! So glad I was able to comment too!
Dondi, thank you for all the details of all the drama and trauma.
Azz and Fus have managed to stir up a lot of trouble. Too bad all that energy wasn't channeled into something useful.
Is Dilsuh here but not here, or will she at some point believe that Miran is alive and heal? I don't see how Azz can ever be forgiven for imprisoning her all these years .
We have t seen Gul and the baby in awhile .
I have no idea how this show will end, but I dont expect many HEAs.
DONDI,

Darcy and Adriana sorry I'm just getting back to you. I really enjoyed episode 1 but Peacock teased me. If I want to continue watching, I have to upgrade. It won't be shown on the free app. Thank you both for taking the time to answer by question.
Jean
Thanks all! I thought this was a good episode. As always, the comments are great and add so much to the enjoyment of the show.
VVS, “Those porous doors are a menace.” gave me a chuckle.
About the square scene: I’ll give you that Akın was good there. Other than that, it was his same old Miran. And I thought it was on the verge of continuing too long.
I liked the brief Azat scene outside the konak. At that point, he had no idea what was going down.
About Hanife: I liked her. I liked how she stuck it to Handan and Yaren. Juanita, I think you are right that she doesn’t “really matter any more in terms of the plot” But what Azize did to her was egregious and she needs to confess it. Did the woman even have a decent burial?
Juanita, you asked about Dilsah saying “if I had known how to take care of [Miran]…” It didn’t make sense to me either, but that’s what I thought it said in Spanish. My Spanish is far from perfect. I checked the Turkish and Dilsah said she should have been there to take care of Miran, but she couldn’t because she was kept a prisoner. Then the accident wouldn’t have happened. That makes more sense. So that was a bad translation either on my part or Telemundo’s.
Yes, novelera, I noticed Azize had her war paint on again. I meant to mention that and I’m glad you did! And you asked a good question: where is Mahfuz? LOL about Rey and Gonul: “Ok, ok, you tried to smother me in my bed, but now I accept you." I am so hoping that Sultan and Aslan stay away from Midyat.
IMHO, Fusun comes across much better in the Turkish. Same with Dilsah. Don’t like the dubbing for them.
carmella, I want to know where Cihan was going. What is he up to now? You are a better person than I am because I can’t forgive Azize. She deserves to suffer for at least as long as she made others suffer. There’s not enough time left in the show. (Maybe that’s a good thing!) Great comment on Handan: “she needs to go and stick that nasty tongue of hers in an electrical socket!
Susanlynn, Covid really affected the shooting of the show. I read that the parents of the Gul actress were concerned and took her out of the series. And maybe that’s why we haven’t seen the babies either.
Always love your comments, Halimacandy. I can’t remember if Hazar and Dilsah had a religious marriage or not. Yes, then Zehra would really be wife #2. I’m with you on this: “Ummah/community of Midyat...Can Ya'll bring back 'STONING' ...?'Mash-Allah'” LOL: “and boil some Hash-Shi-Shi in that cuppa-a-tea...”
Who got shot? I was all for another bullet hole in Miran, but then I thought that would lead to more awful ReyMir scenes. So, no.
Thanks very much, dondi356, for letting us know what Dilsah said in the Turkish version. I agree, that made a lot more sense. It seems clear that the fault was Telemundo's, not yours.
Thanks too for the info about why we haven't seen Gul lately. I guess if that actress were my child, I might have made the same decision to pull her out because of the pandemic, but I'm still sorry she's no longer in the show.
I am loving Handaani's and Zehranni's post-partum Talismans [Fatiha/'Allahu']...
.Wow..!! diamond necklaces. Both Identical white gold/Platinum with Pave diamonds! Awesome!!!!!!
I see it's a Turkish Icon...the same tulip Dalis is at the Aslan bay's wall decor... and at the Hagia Sophia Mosque/Masjid...
I notice its everywhere. That enclosed teardrop with Dua/prayer/one of God's qualities or attribute [ 'Allah' written in Arabic inscription/calligraphy]
.. ..a REALLY ,very nice... 'JUST -HAD- A -NEW -BABY PRESENT!!!..AT LEAST the SADoglu men are not cheap!!!!!just a hot mess..!!
Thought I saw old Blue Eyes from Amar a Muerte and though I'd check in. Yikes ! Whole bunch of supermodels and bunch of fellows who you are sure have STDs. Is this the new normal?
