Hercai 2 - #71 – Parte 1 de 3
After threatening Nasuh, she’ll have him killed as well as Azize, Fusun jumps into the back seat of her car and leaves. Nasuh freezes up when he should have stayed tough and insisted Azize didn’t kill Harun. Firat tells Nasuh he’ll put his whole family in danger if he goes for revenge. After Firat leaves Nasuh says: Oh, Ayse! I think he’s figured out how dangerous Fusun is.
Miran gets on my last nerve refusing to accept Azra’s giving him an IV with suero (saline). [Is there a book somewhere laying down the rules of masculinity…one of them being never paying attention to doctors? The actuarial tables about women living longer seem to attest to the existence of this book.] After Reyyan insists, he leaves the IV in.
Azra tells ReyMir that she saw a miracle. It was Reyyan calling Miran back from el más allá. Reyyan asks Miran how many times they’re going to be hurt. [I predict a few more.] Miran lies to her about the crash having only been an accident. He tells her that he heard her call him back. He was dreaming of Reyyan, his son, and their daughter. Tearing up, Reyyan asks him if it was a girl (presumably the twin that she lost). “That’s what I saw, he replies.” [At first I thought he meant the fetus, but then decided he meant the rather large girl urging him into the afterlife.] “Stay with me, papá, she said; but you didn’t let me go.”
Dilsah comes in and asks to speak with Miran alone. Reyyan leaves and Dilsah gets a bit hysterical, saying that Azize arranged the accident. Then she tells him she made a pact with Azize. She’d stay a captive in exchange for a good life for Azra. Miran says that Azra thinks Azize is a good person.
Rey comes out to talk with Azra. Azra says she fell in love. But then goes on to say she fell in love with Mesopotamia. Azra is astounded by the relationship between ReyMir. She states that Reyyan brought him back. When she wonders about it, Reyyan gets a dreamy look on her face and comes up with a soliloquy.
“It’s a miracle that began with a swing in the sky, a miracle that’s been put to the test many times and only gets stronger. You know what they say: Todos llevamos nuestros sogas en esta vida. Siempre ponen estos sogas en nuestros cuellos. (We carry our own nooses in this life. They always put these nooses on our necks.] But we take them and make swings out of them and balance ourself sobre el acantillado (over the cliff). We (she and Miran) trust each other. If one of us falls, the other will hold them up. And if we can’t hold each other up, we’ll fall together. We’ve become as one.”
Azra doesn’t believe in love. She gets a call and tells someone she’ll be there at the weekend. Reyyan is worried about Dilsah should Azra leave. Reyyan gets a call and hints to Azra that she go make herself comfortable. It’s Azize, who’s called to ask about Miran. She tells Reyyan to leave everything in her hands. She’ll send guards to protect them. Dilsah turns up, looking angry. “It wasn’t an accident. My son and daughter were in the car, and it wasn’t an accident. My son told you clearly to never talk to that woman.”
Hercai 2 - #71 – Parte 2 de 3
Of course Zehra is lurking on HER patio and immediately calls Reyyan asking if Dilsah is treating her badly. Rey denies it.
Hazar is outside the Sadoglu konak and talking with Azat. Hazar tells him that Miran is hiding what happened in the accident. Miran calls someone asking for 10 tough guys to be ready for tomorrow. He sees Hazar and Azat in the street. [This living next door gives a LOT more opportunities for snooping.] Azat promises he’ll do what needs to be done. Miran asks Azat to keep this between the two of them. [I am really enjoying these two getting along so well.]
Miran gets into bed and puts the IV back in. The next day the guy who couldn’t follow doctor’s orders wakes up with an extremely high fever. [Come on, writers! You can’t expect us to fall for another threat to his life, can you?] We get more words of undying love. Blah. Blah. Blah. [Thanks, Nett!]
Azat comes to see Yaren at the Aslanbey konak. Seyda tells him how crazy Yaren is behaving and that she’s seeing Harun’s ghost. There’s confusion between Seyda and Azat about which room Yaren is in, and Azat walks in on Gonul in her nightgown. He babbles some apologies, and she runs for a robe. They are definitely making Viewerville wait for anything to blossom between these two.
Yep, they’re going with the new cook at Hope House stuttering a lot. He’s preparing breakfast and doesn’t want Dilsah to make her daughter’s food. Miran comes in, very pleased to be having breakfast with his family. Dilsah calls him “Miran, hijo” and he gets very emotional. They embrace. “How many years longing for her? If anyone would have told me this would happen, I wouldn’t have believed it. What have I done to deserve all this happiness?”
Dilsah doesn’t want to take the bread basket from Reyyan. [Really?] Miran seems to think this is because his mother loves him so much. Azra senses something is off with Dilsah and Reyyan. Reyyan tells Miran that Azra is an obstetrician. Miran smiles and says that’s just what they need now. Azra suggests an activity for the day, visiting Tía Azize and sees some frozen faces. Miran manages to bite his tongue and say nothing.
We see a young woman hanging laundry. Fusun’s version of Mahmoud tells her that this is the girl. Fusun calls to her after rolling down the car window: “Gunes?” She replies that there must be a mistake; she’s Hazli. We see Fusun’s face soften.
There’s a flashback to Mahmoud telling Azize that he did as she asked. Fusun’s guy was informed about what Azize wanted him to know. Azize: “You wanted to know the truth, Fusun. Now you know.” Mahmoud gives her a bullet that was from Harun’s gun. He tells her the gun was fired twice. Mahmoud also saw the autopsy report. Cihan was at home at the time of his death. So he’s protecting the killer, opines Azize. [Mahmoud having one of those bullets seems to back up dondi's theory that Fusun put down three bullets just to terrorize the roaches, not that they were necessarily the ones from the corpse.]
Hercai 2 - #71 – Parte 3 de 3
Nazli tells Fusun that her mother died when she was small. And two years ago her father died in Germany. “I don’t have anyone. I came here because my father left me this house. I had a brother, but we didn’t have the same mother. That’s what my father told me.” Fusun presses her for more details, but Nazli says that her father didn’t talk much about these things. As Fusun is about to leave, Nazli says that they sent him to an orphanage. She was very little when this happened. She doesn’t know the name of the orphanage, but believes it was in Kars. Fusun gets an angry look on her face and stalks off.
Miran gets dressed gingerly. He’s on the phone with Firat who tells him he found out about the truck driver. He’s just a poor truck driver, and it was an accident. Miran doesn’t really buy this and puts down the phone. He tells himself he’ll have to take care of this himself. He’s in a snit and leaves his phone on the table in the bedroom.
We see that Firat has the truck driver on the ground, snarling that he’s making sure his brother doesn’t become a killer. He puts the gun in the guy’s mouth, which convinces the guy to say it was Fusun Aslanbey. He says he’s afraid Fusun will kill him. Firat kicks him some and says he’ll let him live. [Also because the good guys never kill anyone in cold blood.] He makes the guy promise to never come back to the area or he’ll blow his brains out.
But the guy manages to escape. [Firat, Firat, you should have thought of those childproof locks on car doors.]
Reyyan comes into their bedroom and sees Miran’s phone. It pings and she sees a text photo of the truck driver. In a flashback Reyyan remembers the face. It was the guy who brought the poisoned sweets, saying they were from Hazar. Reyyan: “It was Fusun. Her son died and she wanted to kill Miran. And she’s guilty of the death of my child because Aslan died.” Reyyan deletes the photograph from Miran's phone.
Miran comes back for his phone. He notices she’s upset about something, but she blames it on being emotional because her belly is starting to grow. He tells her that Umut is giving them strength. Reyyan’s face sets and she says their daughter could also be here. Miran answers his phone. It’s Azat. Miran says that he hasn’t received any photo.
Gunther notices that Muriel and Andres are together at the bar and tells Rosario about it. Rosario seems even more worried than before. She’s afraid of a possible confrontation with her daughter.
Felix and Matis arrive at the uncle’s house; and yes, they find him DEAD. The police is called and their first stop is the Reyes house. Juan and Norma are very upset that every time something bad happens in the pueblo, the cops just assume it was one of the twins. JD is taking it even worse, calling it an abuse of power, especially since his innocent brothers are in their beds sleeping. Are they thought??
Yes! They come down with Quintina, who goes off on the police, too. Juan finally manages to convince the cops to leave. They try to apologize, saying they are only doing their jobs, but since the new dead guy is related to the last dead guy… you know… routine police work.
Watching the police cars drive away Juan and Norma express their worry. They wonder how the twins can be involved in something so nasty. And where were they when all of this was happening? Yeah!!
At the Bar, Rosario is doing her performance with Muriel looking on. She seems to like what she’s seeing, is she proud of her momma (highly unlikely) or is her artistic souls waking up, too? More on that later.
For now Gunther speaks with Muriel and tells her that he can’t believe that Rosario would actually enjoy singing and dancing for these lowlifes.
After the show is over Rosario wonders what to do with her daughter. She reluctantly asks her to stay the night, even as Muriel says she can sleep elsewhere. Gunther offers to prepare one of the studies, are we to assume the house only has Rosario’s boudoir and Gunther’s creepy sleeping cave (how I imagine it)?
Rosario and Muriel decide on a truce for the night and Muriel dozes off on the couch, while Gunther is preparing her room.
Then an odd thing happens. Just as Muriel wakes up startled from what we can assume is a nightmare, Don Martin is having a bad dream, too. He’s on a horse, following a little girl, dressed in white and running, while the sky is filled with flying crows. In the dream Don M. is trying to save the girl and in real life he wakes up kicking and screaming that he needs to save her, to Gabriela’s utter desperation.
The scenes between Don M and Muriel switch a few times, leading us to believe there is a connection here. Hmmm…
The next day Juan and Norma go to speak with the Chief of Police about the way their family is being treated. The man says this is just normal procedure, since the twins are involved in one of the brothers’ deaths. Juan demands for a resolution and for their family to be left alone, just as Felix and Matis show up. Norma expresses her sympathy for what Felix is going through, he says he is very scared that something awful has happened to his sister, too.
Back home the twins are talking about this new very strange death and how it could get them into more trouble. They wonder who killed Pascal, the uncle, at one point they even thought he was the one calling them.
Oscar arrives to give Romina the child support for the month. She invites him inside, even if Duvan is at school, but Oscar is not at all tempted. The fact that they had a few nights (!!!) together doesn’t mean anything – they never really knew each other.
Oscar leaves, not before telling Romina to think about finding someone else, rebuild her life. Romina is fuming, tries to play the Duvan card, but Oscar says he will always take care of his kid (just as long as nobody else knows about it, right, Oscar?)
So their fling was not just a drunken night of idiotic behavior from Oscar, it actually happened more than once. I don’t see how Jimena could move past this.
Later Romina tells the madrina that she’s getting bored with this life, always being locked up. Madrina mentions how Romina always knew how to handle men. And, odd thing, there is this guy, Duran, who has had a tryst with Romina. The house she lives in… looks like she’s been living there a long time, he tells to another guy.
Rosario is having breakfast. Her daughter tries to escape her, but Rosario sees her and asks her to sit down at the table. She mentions Muriel leaving again, but the girl says she plans on spending a while in the pueblo. Rosario is not happy, Muriel insists her mom needs to come back home and mentions her father. We are led to believe that this guy is no joke and Muriel implies that he’s on his way to the pueblo, too.
Andres and Sara talk about Muriel. He kind of seems smitten, thinks she’s great, she’s interested in music, too. Sara is surprised to hear her son talk like this. She’s doing something funny, that I didn’t get, wrapping some food in a napkin and putting it in her bag. Then she tells her son about the new murder and that she’s going to see Norma. But she’ll stop over to say hello to the vaqueros first.
Gabriela and Demetrio talk about the murder, too. Those poor kids being involved in something so bad – Gabriela says about her grandkids. Don M passes by, in one of his screaming rants and before he can be taken outside Demetrio has an eyeful. He looks shocked and disgusted, asks Gabriela why she’s not putting her father into a home. She is startled, says she could never dare (not she could never actually DO it), how can this not remind her of her criminal ex who was trying to do the exact same thing?
JD tracks down the twins and they share a moment. He tells them they can always count on him, they are family and whatnot. The twins reluctantly accept this proof of brotherly love.
Sarita is riding to Norma’s ranch. On her way there she spots Romina just strolling through a vineyard (or was it an orchard?). When she gets to Norma’s house they talk about the troubles the family has and how Norma is starting to struggle with all of this. Sarita loves these lands, but sometimes she thinks about moving away, starting over with her kids. Norma says she could never live elsewhere, all her life and happy moments happened here.
They start talking about the vaqueros, both wondering how many there could be in the area. Some of these talks surprise me, it almost looks like these people have lived in golden cages, unaware of anything happening around them. Jimena had no clue a house on her property was occupied. Sarita didn’t think to stop the woman who was just walking on their lands and has no clue about the cowboys living nearby?
Which reminds me of something else: how do the Reyes make their money? Crops, horses, cows?
Rosario is upset to see that Gunther has prepared a very nice room for Muriel. Why all the effort, she asks, since she’ll be gone soon? Gunther says he could never allow for Miss Muriel to sleep God know where, she is the daughter of such a great, powerful man. Rosario is unimpressed.
Later she finds Muriel dancing with the other girls and she is furious! She suggests to her daughter to visit the pueblo, but Muriel would rather dance, it helps keep up with her exercise. Besides, she has been training for this – Rosario is surprised because she never paid for Muriel to have any artistic lessons of the kind.
Later she tells Panchita this could destroy her plans, having Muriel here is too big a risk to her. Panchita doesn’t understand why, but Rosario is worried she won’t be able to handle JD when he finally arrives, if her daughter is here. Panchita wonders why Rosario sees Muriel with such bad eyes, Rosario mentions how her husband could always manipulate her and how miserable she was while living with him.
Gunther and Muriel talk about the unseen Mr. Caballero, too, and Muriel says that she can’t leave her mother alone. And she’s sure her father won’t like what he finds when he gets here. Seeing how he’s played by Sergio Goyri, master villain, I don’t have any doubts that will be the case.
Ok, this is it.
I had a hard time understanding some of the talking, these people have very poor diction.
Also, I realized there is not one character I truly root for. The story is too dark (the twins, Felix, Demetrio, Gunther, some of Oscar's behaviour, Nino, Don M's nightmares and so on), Norma and Juan have become secondary characters, Jimena is hardly on, Oscar has become very unlikable and Sarita has lost her spunk. The young generation is OK, but as decent as JD is, he can't carry the whole show. Rosario's story is taking center stage, which I don't dislike, but it's a shame she's basically the same person she was 20 years ago. Only 20 years older and in a rivarly with her daughetr. Speaking of, if Muriel is supposed to have an important role, make her more likable.
All I care about right now is Franco. WHERE is Franco??
Thank you Adriana for a great recap and your thoughtful comments! I have to agree with you regarding the show’s direction (Rosario) and how dark this drama is! The only characters/ character the I like right now is Juan Sr. He’s the only one, imo, who appears to have any sense, and keeps calm with a level head. Norma is so Milque-toast, while both Sarita and Jimena appear to be shadows of what they once were. They have no real storyline right now, and seem to be nothing more than supporting cast. There’s no “fun” so far, and characters like Gunter, Romina and spooky Madrina only add to the darkness. Gabriela is still obtuse and Don Martin also borders on half crazy, as likable as he is. I do like Panchita, too, but she’s also only characterized as Rosario’s support person.
I hope things pick up with the “main” cast, and other storylines add depth to our once favorite characters. The offspring are okay so far too, except for those twins, and they seemed to do a 360 with Muriel’s character last night. Her and her Mom obviously have a strained relationship, and while Muriel acts all tough and mean, she’s obviously hurt by her mom’s attitude toward her.
Maybe the writers are just setting the stage for much more than we’ve been given———-I certainly hope so! I also want Franco’s appearance asap, but if they can turn down the volume on all the other characters, they can definitely do so with him too……..sigh
Thanks again for your recap Adriana! Well done!
I agree about Juan, I remembered him as a bit of a hothead, but he matured quite well. He especially won me over during the so called intervention at Gabriela's house when Andres first started working for Rosario. He barely said a few sentences while the others screamed or yelled, but he made his presence felt. If he can't handle those dastardly twins, than it must be that they're really rotten.
I do have some simpathy for Muriel because Rosario seems to truly despise her. Could be that she was used as a pawn in the war between her parents and when she took her father's side, her mom became hateful.
I saw some spoiler pictures about Franco. I don't want to reveal anything, but all I can say is that I believe he'll fit right in.
Adriana Noek
Sigh...at this point I bet we're all just waiting for darling Franco to show up. I was excited to see Muriel but now that she's here the last thing we need now is an Andres-Muriel-Juan David love triangle cos the only one who will get hurt is my Andres and I don't want that...he's too sweet of a guy to be hurt by anyone...history please do not repeat yourself
On another note...am I the only one who loves listening to Andres talk?? His voice and accent is just so yummy...I could listen to him talk all day and never get bored.
So Rosario now sees Muriel as competition?? Her own flesh and blood?? Makes me question whether she ever wanted to be a mother in the first place
Oscar...you slept with Romina not once but a few times???!! Wtf man!! We were all rooting for you even when we thought you did it just once but a few times??!! Oh c'mon man!!!
Looks like the late Fernando wasn't much of a lesson to Gabriela cos Demetrio is definitely here to give her an encore
And that Duran fellow is really feeding my suspicion on Duval's true paternity...I had a hunch all along that the little one may not actually be Oscar's...DNA tests can be faked after all
MANY thanks, novelera, for this excellent recap. I enjoyed it considerably more than the episode.
I'm glad to know Miran is getting on your nerves. Mine are worn to a frazzle. I can't decide whether the blame lies primarily with the actor or with the writers. Miran has such a limited repertoire. Primarily, we see screaming/puffing/fire-breathing Miran, supplemented at times by "I adore you blah blah blah" Miran and "don't worry I'll protect you" Miran, over and over again. Yawn.
I'm still confused about Miran's dream. It was bad enough that we had to scratch our heads over it in the previous episode, but Miran mentions it again in this one. He may be all in white because he's dead or about to die, but why would Reyyan and their son also be all in white? And how is the girl calling to him supposed to be the dead twin when she looks several years older than the boy? What I find even more absurd is that Miran would be in the least tempted to join the girl rather than the woman he claims repeatedly to love and adore and blah blah blah. Reyyan has to beg him on her hands and knees to come back to her in order for him to do so!
I'm not sure what to make of the scene with the girl hanging laundry. She is supposedly Fusun's daughter? And there's also a brother other than the dead Harun? Did Fusun deliberately call her Gunes so that the girl will say her name is Nazli? Or had Fusun named her Gunes at birth and later someone else changed it to Nazli? I confess, I'm so ready for this dizi to be over, and instead it keeps adding new characters. Sigh.
Thanks very much for clarifying the flashback of Reyyan receiving the poisoned sweets that were supposedly from Hazar. I didn't realize that she recognized the photo of the truck driver as being the poisoned sweets delivery guy.
I'm always pleased when you highlight some Spanish. In this case, thanks for including and translating part of Reyyan's monologue about the swing in the sky.
I should mention that I very much enjoyed your side comments and also wording such as "Fusun’s version of Mahmoud."
Again, thanks very much, novelera. I greatly enjoyed your recap.
Thank you Adriana! I just love hearing your perspective! I read this morning but I wanted to watch before commenting! I agree with you that this story is too dark. I also agree about Rosario, I wouldn't mind the focus so much if there was some character growth 20 years later, but nope...she is just more pathetic.
I do have a favorite character to root for, I am sure who can't guess who it is, but I loved the scene where the cops came to check on the twins, (which was a good and reasonable call I'm sorry but I would have too) and JD was all righteously indignant until Quintina got a little too worked up and he immediately switched to trying to calm her down and take care of her. It was cute.
I also like Juan, Andres and even Gaby. And I agree about Andres' accent. I feel like Nino has the potential of being a very interesting character when we get to know him better.
I actually thought Don Martin's dream was really interesting because even though they kept moving back and forth between Muriel and Martin and definitely gave the impression that Muriel was the one that needed to be saved, Don Martin said 'It could have been Jimena or Norma', could be a red herring and but could something be coming for Jimena or Norma?
Does Rosario see Muriel as competition? Or just as an obstacle? I got the impression that what she was worried about was the optics. Like what JD might think when he learned she had a daughter in town determined to bring her home to her husband, or what Muriel might tell said husband when she finds out mom has a JD obsession.
Every day we make it to the end of another episode without JD going to seek out Rosario, I cheer!
I officially crossed over to the Felix is dirty camp with this episode! I now fully believe he is involved in these murders and/or the murderer? I thought the way he initially told Matis not to come and then changed his mind and said come with me was suspicious and now that we know they found him dead I am convinced he purposely brought Matis to divert suspicion from himself. Pure speculation.
I rewound and replayed several times because I doubted myself and thought I missing something but I heard Oscar say that he and Romina had only been together one time. That's also what the CC said so I am thinking this was a one night stand that produced the baby, maybe? Definitely at the doubting the parentage table.
I think Sara was wrapping food and putting it in her fanny pack because she was preparing to ride to Norma's on horseback, they are neighbors but they all have sprawling Ranches and plenty of property - so maybe it takes awhile to get from homestead to homestead on horseback? If it was a couple hours ride she might want to eat on the way?? I am not sure but that's what it looked like. Also with Norma, Sara was asking specifically about those living on their lands, ie. there own employees. With all the workers they have on the ranch, do they even know who all they are and how many people they actually have working for them? If there was a stranger on the lands, would they even notice? Or we they just assume it was another employee? I think it's a very good question considering Romina has probably been living there all Duvan's life and no one has noticed until now. And also considering they could be harboring their own horse thief.
Absolutely sitting at the waiting for Franco to show up table!! :) He can't arrive soon enough but I am sort of intrigued by the overall story. I feel like some episodes I really enjoy and then others are blah.
NOVELERA.. RECAP MAGIC....the recaps are better than the show..this show is driving me crazy..

Miracle Macho Man Mir cheats death once again .
I understood that scene in white . When a parent loses a child, he\she still feels the desire to care for the child . One hopes to be reunited with that child in the afterlife, so I understood that in his near death experience , Mir was torn between staying with Rey and their son or joining their daughter to be with her. You sometimes hear of near death experiences in which people say they were torn between going toward the light to loved ones who have passed but then deciding to stay with their loved ones still here on earth.
Juanita, Mr. Google tells me something that might clarify the scene with Miran in white and deciding whether to go with his daughter or remain alive.
The idea of purgatory is that it is a place where people go after death that holds punishment and purification for those who are not fit to enter Paradise just yet. People who are in this place do not have enough sins to warrant their entrance into Hell, but they do not have enough good deeds to go to Paradise. This is a temporary place, like barzakh.
Because they have this in common, some believe that they are the same idea or concept.
Barzakh is actually closer to the idea of limbo, a place that is between life and the true afterlife.
In this place, people await their final judgment, much like in barzakh. The Quranic idea of aʿrāf or “heights” is closer to that of Christian purgatory. Aʿrāf is also thought of as a place where souls go whose good and bad deeds are too evenly matched to go directly to Paradise or the Fire.
Thanks very much, Susanlynn and novelera, for trying to help me make sense of Miran's dream.
Susanlynn, I can understand someone's wanting to be reunited with a person they've known and loved for a long time. But that's not Miran's situation. He has never met his "daughter," he has never even seen her. She died when she was a tiny embryo. I cannot imagine that he would choose her over the woman he has loved and adored for years and who is bearing (or has borne) his son.
And novelera, what you say is interesting, but for me the issue is not Heaven vs. Purgatory/Limbo. I cannot imagine why a young man like Miran would want to die so young and go to either of these places if he has the choice of remaining alive with Reyyan (and, in his dream, Umut). I'm not trying to make light of theological issues. I'm simply trying to deal with the characters as they have been presented in this dizi.
Thanks novelera for your recap. I had "a week" and did not get a chance to watch the episode yet, so I when I do, I will come back and comment. I am sure your recap is fabulous!
Great snarky recap, novelera and I agree with Juanita that it was much better than the ep. Thanks for the extra info on purgatory.
I’m with Susanlynn on the dream in white scene. That’s a good explanation. He was drawn to his daughter but his love for Rey ultimately brought him back. I wouldn’t have minded if Miran went with the girl. I'm not wasting any more brain cells on it. I've lost enough watching already.
A little more interesting was how Azize and Mahmut set up Fusun. Maybe it’s to distract her from revenge for a while. I’m almost sure Nazli is not Fusun’s daughter, but she told enough of a “story” to make it seem like she could be. I think the brother Nazli referred to was supposed to be Harun. Güneş (meaning, sun) is probably the birth name of Fusun’s daughter. Azra must be Fusun’s daughter.
“Miran asks Azat to keep this between the two of them. [I am really enjoying these two getting along so well.]” I agree with this.
Uh oh, the bread basket. Dilsah definitely does not like or trust Reyyan. Rey better watch out. Really crappy if they brought Dilsah back just to be a baddie.
“[Come on, writers! You can’t expect us to fall for another threat to his life, can you?] We get more words of undying love. Blah. Blah. Blah. [Thanks, Nett!]” I have a big problem with these writers. I’m gonna think twice before watching any thing they write again. I also have a problem with some of the acting (looking at you, Akın) and the directing.
I’m agreeing with what Nett wrote on the previous page, that they decided to drag this out. The ratings in Turkey crashed in the third season but they probably kept it going because this dizi was already sold to a lot of other countries. That’s how the Turkish entertainment industry makes the big bucks.
Thank you for your recap novelera. I was disappointed that Nasuh let Fusun chump him. He had no retort for her comments and backed off way too quickly. He should’ve thought of something to say back to her——-anything!
It’s apparent that Dilsah is going to be a problem. Reyyan will take her crap though, for Miran’s sake. I’m so over the “let’s pick on Reyyan thing.” I’m also so over this dizi at this point. There’s really only a few more loose ends to tie up, but they’re stretching the string as long and as far as they can. This is the story that never ends, sigh…..
I also like the bonding of Azat and Miran. It was a long time coming. As far as Miran being torn about going with his daughter, or staying with the love of his life, there’s so much more in the spirit world that human beings are not allowed to see. I bet “love” is on a totally different spectrum and larger than we can even imagine, not just contained to human love as we know it. Just like Sam Wheat’s final words to Molly in the movie Ghost “ It’s amazing Molly. The love inside, you take it with you.” So whether Miran left or stayed, I guess the love would still be there? That’s my 2 cents, lol…….
Thanks again novelera
What an episode! I was able to actually stay up and watch it live since it's Friday and wow, what a ride! Parts of it I hated, parts of it I enjoyed, parts of it made me sad (sorry Andres and MaameAdwoa), and parts of it made me laugh so hard. Then we ended with intrigue...
I will post a recap sometime tomorrow. I was awake enough to watch but not at all awake enough to write.
HALIMACANDY: Welcome Back! I am watching this because of Danna Garcia, Paola Rey & Natasha Strauss.

Season 2 Episode 14 Part 1
We come back to Gunter and Muriel chatting about the danger Samuel poses to them all. Gunter think Muriel should talk her father out of coming after Rosario and Muriel thinks Gunter should talk her mom into returning home. We learn nothing surprising but Muriel declares her parents have an unhealthy relationship and try as she might she can’t talk her dad out of his obsession with her mom. She has confused and disjointed feelings on the subject (or maybe both her parents are just horrible) because she clearly acknowledges her father’s obsession is sick but then in the next breath, she blames her mom for provoking him. Muriel doesn’t know what to do, she has two days to resolve a situation that is unresolvable! (It appears Muriel doesn’t support her dad as much as she just wants mom to come home to prevent a tragedy)
Oscar looks straight up creepy walking down the street in some yellow sunglasses, tipping his hat at people and making a point of being seen by Felix at his uncle’s funeral (Dude, just no! Have some respect. I mean I now believe the guy is guilty as hell but there’s still common decency). He later tells Jimena he was about to comfort Felix but he didn’t in deference to his grief. Jimena thinks Oscar should stop investigating to avoid problems with the authorities and the family, but he won’t! No one will stop him from investigating what is going on with his nephews! He asks about Gaby next (because maybe he’ll look into that after lunch) but Jimena says that too is now a closed subject. She has a great idea and she suggests they focus on themselves – she shuts the doors and gets friendly with her husband.
Rosario is watching Muriel practice chorography with the dancers when Andres comes in, he walks over and she asks about his cousins. She says she’s asking because of the new dead Carreno and concern over Erik and Leon but I’m pretty sure she really wanted to know about Juan David. Andres says it’s nothing but rumors and the twins have nothing to do with it, Rosario expresses relieve. Andres asks about the new dance routine and whether Muriel will be the new chorographer, Rosario gives Andres the news that Muriel will be gone in two days. She walks off nervous and upset. Is she thinking about her daughter? Nope, the only thing she cares about is Juan David as she tells Pancha. She is upset that she hasn’t seen him, but maybe that’s good because this way he won’t see Muriel. JD will stay away for two more days and everything will be fine! (Sounds like a money back guarantee that he’ll be at the bar by the end of the day to me!)
Gaby is running out the door for school and Sara stops her to give her a tablet. Gaby thinks her mom, she doesn’t know where her head has been. Sarita knows, Nino! She asks if Gaby has talked to him about the job and Gaby says not yet. She’s called him but he hasn’t answered or called back yet. Sara asks the obvious question, are you sure he wants your help? But Gaby says of course he does. If he hasn’t called yet it’s because he’s busy and he can’t; it’s not for lack of interest. He’ll show up sooner than later and then we’ll talk, you’ll see. (This is one young lady with healthy self-esteem and I like it!) She says she’ll bring him by to meet her mom soon.
Season 2 Episode 14 – Part 2
Andres and Muriel are talking and they seem pretty close even holding hands. They clearly enjoying each other’s company but Andres is quiet and Muriel asks why. He says he’s sad she’s leaving so soon and she confirms she’s is, in two days. He asks why she can’t stay and she explains she’s stuck between two parents in an unhappy marriage that use their daughter as a puppet. Andres asks the question I had, which is, they aren’t divorced? Muriel fills us in, they are not legally divorce. Rosario wants the divorce but Samuel refuses to give it to her! She asks about Andres’ parents and he fills her in that they’ve been divorced for three years. Muriel wants to forget the drama and have fun, she asks what they can do but Andres sees Gunter approaching and says from the look of it very little (LOL). Gunter tells Muriel her mom is looking for her and Muriel starts to refuse to go, but ever respectful Andres encourages her to go ahead. If Rosario sent Gunter to look for her it must be important she should go to her mother. She reluctantly does and finds out Rosario wants her to go to some stuffy dinner with her friends and even the mayor! Muriel doesn’t like the sound of it but Rosario insists and Gunter encourages her to humor her mom.
Unfortunately, we have to go to dinner with Rosario too, and she is surrounded by very important people; including the mayor, his wife and the oh so distinguished Demetrio Jurado (I hate this guy more and more every day). They all fawn over Muriel and the mayor’s wife wants her to come to their house and meet their children and get to know the whole region. Andres and the band walk in and Muriel escapes as fast as she can. She approaches Andres and he tells her she looks very beautiful (there’s a definite flirtation here), she thanks him and tells him her mom is in a very boring dinner and she needs to escape. Tomorrow is her last day and she wants to go somewhere! To breath fresh air and get out of this place. Andres is happy to oblige, he will take her on a tour of his lands and she can’t meet his family!! She happily agrees and they decide to go eat ice cream instead of Muriel returning to the dinner.
Another morning and I was wrong about JD appearing at the bar last night but we know Muriel is off to meet Andres’ family today so Rosario isn’t home free yet. But before we can get to that adventure, we have to discuss the horrible! (I hated this scene!!! Really? Are the writers really recreating a season 1 plot in a near perfect replica? If you don’t know, there was a time in season 1 where a horrible man tried to convince Gabriela to have her father committed in an institution and he nearly succeeded) This particular morning, Don Martin is having one of his episodes, and a horrible man is looking on with disgust, yes, it’s Demetrio Jurado. Why is this meddling idiot at Gabriela’s house every single day? He tells Gabriela that Martin is dangerous and that she needs to commit him for his safety and hers, or at least have him evaluated, and of course she doesn’t have to tell anyone else in the family about it, here we go again…
On to more pleasant happenings, Andres is driving Muriel out to his house and showing her all the beautiful scenery and it’s clear by the mile wide smiles on both their faces that they are having a wonderful time. At the same time, we see Juan and all three of his boys out in the fields enjoying this beautiful day and commenting on how they love days like this, not too warm or too cold and peaceful. JD predicts that today will be a very special day (and viewerville wonders just how special and how soon these two parties will cross paths).
Rosario is having less fun. She hasn’t seen Muriel anywhere and no one else has either! Apparently, it’s own thing to insist your fully grown adult daughter get the hell out of town and leave you alone where presumably you’d have no idea where she was or what she was doing; but she can’t go for an outing IN town without asking for mommy’s permission.
Season 2 Episode 14 – Part 3
Muriel and Andres have arrived at his house and Andres adorably protests Muriel opening her own car door because he wants to do it for her! Muriel loves the house and says his home is amazing! They spot Sara and Andres is quick to introduce Muriel to his mom like the gentleman he is. Sara is impressively warm and welcoming of Muriel even after learning that she is Rosario Montes’ daughter! (I was so impressed Andres told his mother right upfront who Muriel was. He knows there’s an issue between Sarita and Rosario and he is hiding nothing, he is so respectful) We find out Muriel loves horseback riding and they decide to go for a horseback ride on this beautiful and potentially very special (if JD is correct) day.
Rosario is still throwing a fit trying to figure out where Muriel could have gone. Gunter doesn’t understand the confusion, you don’t have to be a genius to figure out that she must be with Andres Reyes. Rosario later calls Muriel who surprisingly answers and confirms that yes, she is with Andres but she can’t talk because they are in a concert! (Andres overheard this lie and he didn’t look very comfortable with it but he didn’t say anything) Rosario thinks that is odd at this time of day but Gunter thinks you can expect anything in this town. LOL Rosario is worried that Andres seems very interested in Muriel but Gunter doesn’t think that’s a problem. She’s safe with him. Stop worrying and let her enjoy her last day in town!
Sara, Andres and Muriel predictability decide to take their ride further, all the way to Juan and Norma’s terrain, perhaps they will run into them!
Gabriela is pursuing the stupidity and is going to have Don Martin evaluated this very afternoon. The doctor gives her a strong sedative to make Martin manageable for the trip to the asylum! She later orders Dominga to give it to him but she doesn’t, she recognizes this madness and she isn’t going to be an accomplice to it.
The four Reyes men are still out on their ride, and who should they bump into? (I bet you can’t guess) They see them from a little off and Leon asks who is over there? Erik identifies his aunt and cousin and says he can’t pinpoint the third person. JD says nothing but he’s looking at Muriel and he already looks pretty impacted even though he probably can’t see her very well from that distance. Juan suggests riding over and saying hello.
Juan is the perfect picture of charming host as he greets his nephew and kisses his sister-in-law on the cheek. Andres actually greets his uncle and all his cousins with a handshake which would have seemed kind of formal if it wasn’t for the obvious affection in their tones. Juan tells them how happy he is to see them and is all smiles as Sara introduces Muriel as Andres’ friend and tells him that she invited her to go for a ride and see their beautiful lands since Muriel is unfamiliar with the area. Juan welcomes her and says they are happy to have her there. The devil twins even manage to be respectful(ish) as they introduce themselves and say hello. But JD? He stands off to the side and doesn’t join the welcome or even look at her! He says nothing at all until Muriel actually asks who he is. (This is shocking because JD has never been the slightest bit rude to anyone and it’s a clear indication of just how affected he is). He finally steps forward and offers his hand introducing himself as Juan David, Muriel takes his hand and gives her name and that look says it all! (Sorry Andres)
Season 2 Episode 14 – Part 4
I can’t write anymore about Rosario’s ridiculous fit over Muriel leaving the house without telling her so I will just tell you that her rant to Pancha turns into a little confab about Demetrio. Pancha isn’t impressed with that man one bit! He meddles in everything and always claims to be buying lands and doing business but he never actually does anything (hmm). Rosario thinks it would be good for her to have a man like him on her side providing either that: she has no idea what is good for her, or she understands all too well and needs a shady ally when push comes to shove. She mentions the upcoming attack from Samuel so I am guessing it’s the second one.
The Reyes’ are still walking around showing Muriel the lands and telling her about running a horse ranch. Every member of the family except JD participates in this discussion and finally Sara suggests they need to leave because it’s getting late but the twins think they should come to the house and stay longer. Juan agrees and even offers them lunch. Everyone is in and Andres checks in with Muriel but she’s good she’s having fun. JD is silent and very watchful the look on his face is very serious and hard to read, Muriel threw a few glances his way too. He’s especially watching her interactions with Andres maybe not jealous exactly, but definitely pensive. Andres may have noticed this interaction because when he asks Muriel if she is okay and she says she is having a blast he answers with ‘I’m sure’.
The party arrive at the ranch and there are more looks between Muriel and JD and Juan definitely notices! (JD is so cute when he notices that Juan caught him starring, he looks so nervous and shy). Norma greets them and gives her nephew a warm welcome. He introduces Muriel and Norma greets her with the same warmth as the family and tells her ‘this is your home!’ The family all walks in with Juan and JD hanging back. Juan asks JD if something is wrong. He plays dumb. Juan says he’s been too quiet and it seems like meeting Andres’ friend affected him somehow (yep!). He asks if there’s a problem with her. JD finally smiles and says no, of course not! I just met her. I barely even greeted her. (Yeah, we noticed that is what is weird hun)
The family is having lunch and asking Muriel how long she has been in town. Muriel says less than a week and one of the twins ask how it’s been, how has she been treated. Muriel looks right at JD and says it’s very interesting, he stares right back. She says for example, they are a very special group. Andres shares how she is a very talented artist and Erik asks if she too will be performing at Bar Alcala, but no that’s a definitely not. Juan assumes she’s part of the band but Andres says no, even though she just got here Muriel is staying very little time she leaves tomorrow. This opens an alarmed looking JD’s mouth and he says ‘You’re leaving tomorrow?’ Everyone wants to know why she is leaving so soon and Sara drops the bomb, she only came to visit her mother. She’s the daughter of Rosario Montes! For the first-time all-day JD isn’t the looking person looking uncomfortable…
JD apparently couldn’t take anymore as he is now alone on the balcony thinking (Oh, to be a fly in his head and hear what he must be thinking realizing this girl who affected him so much is the daughter of the last woman to spin his head around!) Quintina approaches and tells him Norma wants him to come say goodbye because Muriel is leaving but he asks her to make his excuses for him, he’s tired. Quintina leaves and JD lets out a big sigh, but he doesn’t leave the balcony where he watches his family say goodbye. Everyone else tells her they are sorry she’s leaving so soon and they hope she will come back again soon. Muriel thanks them all for their hospitality as her gaze keeps drifting to the balcony.
Season 2 Episode 14 Part 5
Gaby has tracked Nino down and she gives him money and tells him about the job. He is very appreciative of the job offer but he doesn’t know what he could do on the ranch. He doesn’t know anything about ranching and he’s concerned he would disappoint her mom. Gaby is sure it will all work out he can learn! At least come meet my mom, I promised you would don’t make me into a liar! Nino reluctantly agrees.
JD is racing down the steps hat in hand and I was pretty sure he was finally going to go to the bar (to see Muriel not Rosario) but instead he gets downstairs to find his mom in a panic! Dominga has called and told her about Gabriela’s plan for Don Martin. Norma has to go and intervene, she encourages her son to go meet up with his dad and brothers but nothing doing, grandpa is more important and they take off for Gabriela’s!
Yes, we really are doing this again (eyes rolling to the sky)! Gabriela is trying to get Martin on the stretcher and in the van and has locked the doors. Martin fights with all he has. Norma and JD arrive and pound on the door. Gabriela orders Dominga not to open but she does. They rush to Martin and try in vain to reason with Gabriela. She claims that she is just trying to take her dad to the hospital because he is unwell but JD says a hospital or a sanitorium?
JD gets very authoritative and says no way, grandpa is staying here! He orders them to take him back to his room but Gabriela says no, he has to go. Okay, JD counters no problem, he will go but to our house! He tries to unstrap Martin and when the orderly tries to stop him he straight up punches him out! (I am not a violent person, neither do I condone violence but I gotta admit watching him deck that guy was kind of fun! The take charge JD is very appealing, just like all the other JDs we’ve seen!) Speaking of fun, JD literally carries his grandpa to the truck piggy back style! And as much as I hate this little plot point as a whole watching Don Martin declare his freedom while riding out of the hacienda on JD’s back was a hoot! Gabriela threatens to call the cops and accuse them to kidnapping but a finally fiery Norma tells her mom the only thing she is going to do is go inside and pack grandpa’s bags because he is coming to stay with them! This is not a suggestion my friends, it’s an order!
Headed back to San Marcos, Andres comments that Muriel was so happy that morning and now she seems sad. She is sad that she has to leave, she’s suddenly decided she’d like to get to know more of San Marcos. Andres knew she would like it and Muriel comments that maybe Rosario is right in wanting to stay. Andres asks if she liked his family and she says they were wonderful, everyone was very sweet to her, well except JD of course. Muriel says he didn’t seem to like her but she doesn’t know why. Andres claims he didn’t notice (honey, I adore you, but are you blind?) Muriel says no one noticed except her and him and that was enough, and the smile on her face made me wonder if Muriel understands men just as well as her mom does. The look on Andres’ face made me wonder if he noticed more than he admits.
They return to the bar and there encounter Rosario. Muriel knows what’s coming and she avoids it simply telling mom if you are wondering yes, I enjoyed my last day in San Marcos very much and I’m very grateful to Andres for keeping me company. She excuses herself. Rosario starts in telling Andres he crossed the line taking Muriel out without her permission. Andres says he’s sorry he thought Muriel was an adult? Rosario asks where they went and Andres says he took her to very safe and quiet places and not to worry he’s not one to hang out in seedy places. Andres says if Rosario thinks he abused her trust she can fire him at any time but Rosario back pedals quickly. No, of course not! (Apparently Andres is the one exaggerating things?) It’s not that big of a deal, you know I adore you I am not going to fire you. She apologizes for reproaching him and thanks him for taking care of Muriel.
Season 2 Episode 14 – Part 6
Norma and JD bring Martin to the ranch and everyone is happy to see him. Norma and Jimena talk about grandpa being at the ranch and how happy he is. Jimena assures her sister that when it’s her turn she has it all worked out for how to take care of their grandpa. Norma says no hurry, they love having him at the ranch. Jimena wonders what happens when mom starts to miss him and Norma says she doesn’t know but she won’t let him go back unless Martin himself wants to. The conversation once again turns to the mystery house that everyone seems to be a little interested in but not interested enough to actually investigate until now. Norma heads home and Jimena promises not to go alone but she goes to take a look anyway.
Jimena approaches the house and Romina is cooking lunch. Jimena looks around and calls out but Romina doesn’t answer. She squats behind the counter and eventually grabs a knife for good measure. She can see Jimena but I am not sure if she knows who she is or not. Jimena knocks at the doors and windows and continues to ask if anyone is home. She finally notices a door open a crack and peeks in opening it a bit more. Romina readies herself with the knife…
And there we end.
And there you have it, the good, the bad and the ugly! I recap itself is full of my own opinions so I won't go on and on again about how stupid I think the Don Martin/Sanatorium story line is.
I will say I thought Bernando Flores did a fantastic job in this episode! From start to finish he nailed it! It really stood out to me the way he portrayed the JD's impact on meeting Muriel distinctive from how he was impacted meeting Rosario. You didn't get just a repeat of the same star struck look he had when meeting Rosario, instead this was a whole different kind of knocked off his orbit, just as impactful if not more so but an a different way and he did it so well! I kind of like that he was so thrown he couldn't even be charming! It was unexpected but gives another depth to the character. This isn't the typical gorgeous popular guy who knows how to get the ladies, this is the shy sensitive dude who gets embarrassed when dad notices that he notices a girl! It's too cute.
I really enjoyed seeing more of Andres in this episode. This character is more and more impressive all the time. I love his mannerisms, I love the way he treats EVERYONE, I love that he can be respectful without being a doormat and that he can and does stand up for himself calmly and simply without being hostile. He has nothing to prove and he seems completely comfortable with himself. I am sorry, but not surprised about Muriel but I have hope that it won't hit him too hard. It's clear he likes Muriel but he doesn't seem like head over heels smitten and I think he's smart enough to see the writing on the wall so hopefully he won't get hurt too badly.
I wouldn't have guessed Juan would be such an enthusiastic and charming host! Not that I'd expect him to be rude, just less outgoing and more reserved. I really enjoyed the scenes of Muriel's visit and just seeing the family have a warm relaxing happy day for a change. It was really nice how they all treated Muriel so warmly even after finding out she was Rosario's daughter. I loved Norma telling her this is your house, come back soon (foreshadowing?)
Reyyan can’t stop Miran from leaving. He tells her nothing will happen to him, “baba sözü” (father’s word/promise) and exits the bedroom. Before he leaves the konak, he stops to see Dilsah. He tells her if she needs anything let Rey know. She’s worried about him and thinks he should stay and rest. I will, he says, I’ll take care of something and come right back. He plans to spend a lot of time with his mom, his wife and his sister.
Azra enters the room. She says she is going out, but he should stay home. He kids that now he has a doctor at home. [Ha, ha, ha] He says he would give her a ride, but he is in a rush. One of the men can do it. But Azra declines the offer saying she is not ready to go yet. Miran leaves. Azra tries to get Dilsah to go out with her, but Dilsah thinks it’s best to stay home.
Rey comes to see Dilsah as Azra leaves. Dilsah’s demeanor immediately changes as Rey asks her, did Miran leave? She looks away and doesn’t answer.
Miran exits the konak. We see him tuck a gun in his waistband. He gives an order to the guards outside—I’m going alone. Keep an eye out. Miran gets in his car and Hazar stands in the way. At the same time, Cihan comes out and notices.
Miran gets out of the car and asks Hazar to step aside and let him go. I heard you talking to Azat, Hazar says, I’m not letting you go alone. Either you run me over or you let me go with you. Hazar gets in the car and father and son drive off. Cihan gets in his car, too. Is he going to follow them?
Reyyan exits Hope Mansion and hurries off, charging through the streets, huffing and puffing with her hand on Umut. She encounters Azize. Rey asks her, it was Fusun, wasn’t it? My grandfather lied to me, too. Those sweets weren’t sent by the company. Fusun killed my baby. Miran didn’t have an accident. Fusun tried to kill him, right?
Azize starts to speak but Rey cuts her off. The man who crashed into Miran and the man who delivered the sweets are the same person. Azize replies, it’s my fault. Fusun thinks I killed Harun and that’s why she’s seeking revenge. Rey is angry, you said you’d protect us, that you wouldn’t allow this. That this garbage wouldn’t affect us. Azize promises she will protect them this time. Don’t make promises you can’t keep, Rey snaps back, we all end up hurt.
Azize tells Rey she is right about everything, but this time she will fix it. Rey is resolute, I’ll do what it takes and I’ll do it without expecting anything from anyone else. Azize pleads with her to stay out of it. Rey responds, my husband stopped breathing last night. His heart stopped and I waited by his side to see him come back to life. From now on, others will need protection from any problems. You know what revenge could force him to do. You raised Miran, you know him. Do you think he’s going to stop? Now get out of my way. Rey takes off again.
Fusun arrives home. She’s greeted by Seyda who calls her Fusun Bey, then quickly corrects himself—Fusun Hanım. She gives him a withering look and sends him to make coffee.
Fusun gets a call. The voice says, I sent a picture of the document to your phone. Your daughter was taken from the orphanage. Fusun views the doc and her eyebrows raise. My daughter… So it’s true, Azize, she says, you really have my daughter. Fusun makes a call telling someone to wait for her call back.
Gonul heads out to the patio and asks a shaken Fusun if she is alright. There’s no time for Fusun to answer because Reyyan storms the Aslanbey konak and calls out for Fusun. Time for all roaches to assemble.
Fusun asks, why have you come to confront me? Rey answers, you did it. What did I do? Rey unloads, your friendship is a lie. You are a ruthless murderer. A cruel woman. How dare you talk to me like that, Fusun replies. I speak like this because of your underhanded hostility. What kind of woman are you?! Yaren wanders out and observes this.
Rey continues, what kind of mother are you?! You tried to kill Miran and it was you who killed my baby. Have you no fear of God? Fusun plays dumb, why would I do something like that? Rey replies, you don’t deny it, do you? Those sweets you sent were delivered by the same man who tried to kill Miran. The roaches react to this news.
Shocked Gonul asks Rey, what are you saying? All I am saying is true, Rey answers. She turns back to Fusun, I’m warning you, Fusun Aslanbey, you have to stop this. You lost a son. Maybe Harun paid for what you did, but I lost a child, too. Cut to Yaren who is starting to panic.
Rey continues, you took my baby from me. Even so, I have buried my pain. Know why? Because I don’t want other mothers to lose their children. I don’t want anyone else to get hurt. Rey moves in close, you’ll have to accept it and end the quest for revenge.
What lovely words, Fusun replies. You say I suffered the pain of losing a child and you lost one, too. Do you know the difference? Your child was yet to be born. I lost my 30 year old son. You ask me to end the war and put a stop to the revenge. I will, I can do that. But do you know how? Only if Azize returns what she took from me.
Are you certain that Azize killed your son, Rey asks? I’m not talking about my son, Fusun replies. She (Azize) knows exactly who I’m talking about. Go tell her she has only three hours. I won’t wait longer. Let’s see who burns most in this fire. Fusun calls a man to escort Rey out. She leaves.
Gonul questions Fusun. Did you kill Reyyan’s baby and try to kill Miran? Fusun answers, you’re the last person who should be questioning me. Gonul issues a useless threat, you are not to touch Reyyan, Miran or their baby, understand? Or you will have to answer to me. Try your best, dear niece, Fusun disses, even if you were an inferno, you couldn’t burn anyone. Fusun walks away.
Miran and Hazar pull up to a truck yard and find the driver working on the truck in the accident. Miran starts to question him and gives him a knock down punch. The guy plays innocent. Miran accuses him of causing the accident that nearly killed him. Then the guy says he doesn’t remember anything. He was very drunk. He knew he crashed into a car but only remembered it later. I didn’t have bad intentions, he says, I didn’t do it on purpose. Miran pulls out his gun and says, now you are going to tell us who ordered you to do this, or I’ll blow your brains out.
The guy says he’ll talk. Please, I have three children. Miran seems affected by this statement. But the man has no time to talk because shots are fired from a distance and the guy goes down. Miran turns and shouts and starts firing his gun in the direction of the shots. Then he pauses and looks. Did he see and recognize who shot?
Reyyan and Azize talk out on the street again. [Does Azize hang out waiting for people to walk by?] I’ll asks one last time, Rey demands, what does Fusun want from you? What does she want you to return?! No answer from Azize. Rey is pissed and realizes, not even if Miran was fighting for survival or the Angel of Death (Azrael) is standing over my father... you won’t give her what she wants.
I can’t, Azize replies. Seasons change, the land changes but people are people, Rey says. I thought you changed. I believed you were remorseful but you’re still the same Azize. Azize denies this. You are what you are, Rey replies, but understand this. I changed. From now on, if a loved one of mine suffers the slightest harm, I’ll never forgive it. Remember that.
Rey walks and Azize stops her. She (Fusun) wants her daughter, Azize says. Did you take a daughter from her, too, a shocked Rey asks? Did you not suffer the loss of your sons? How could you do this to someone else? Return Fusun’s daughter to her, Rey says. I lost my child that was still in my womb and the pain hasn’t gone away. Don’t use someone’s children to punish them. Even if it’s an enemy, Give Fusun her daughter, Rey tells her.
Sorry, I can’t, Azize replies. Rey is adamant, if you want my forgiveness, then you’ll return her daughter. Azize starts, Reyyan…. Rey interrupts, don’t speak my name again. Whatever you touch is stained with sin. You know the worst part? The only way to be rid of someone like you is when you are in the grave. With that, Rey walks off. How can I return her daughter, Azize asks herself, how can I risk Miran’s life again? if I’m asked how I could go so far, what will I say? How do I return her?
Mahmut appears and brings Azize her phone. She’s received several calls and the phone is ringing now. Azize says, every one of the sins I’ve committed will haunt me to my death. [good!] She takes the ringing phone from Mahmut. It’s Azra calling. She tells Mahmut to get the car and answers the call. I’m waiting for you, Azize Teyze (aunt). Azize is too emotional to answer right away. Azize Teyze? Azize composes herself, yes, dear, I’ll be right there. End call. Azize cries.
Azize receives another call. This one is from Nasuh. He’s been trying to reach her since last night. What did you do, he asks? She tearfully answers she can’t talk now and will call him back later.
Asiye is calling Mahfuz with an update. The house is in chaos. Reyyan came to the mansion…. A hand grabs onto Asiye’s and she gasps, Fusun Hanım! Mahfuz is alarmed…Asiye? Fusun cracks Asiye’s phone with her high heeled boot. She has a strong grip on Asiye’s hand. Do I have to go hunting in my own home, she asks, can’t we trust anyone anymore? Asiye cowers.
Fusun demands an answer and says, don’t you know that Mahfuz and I took different paths? Asiye knows. Fusun wonders what to do with Asiye. When it looks like she might take an apology and a promise to never do it again, we see a boiling pot on the stove. Yep, she did it. Fusun sticks Asiye’s hand in the pot. Asiye screams and Seyda enters the kitchen to witness this horror.
Fusun stops in front of Seyda with a warning he will get the same treatment if he turns out to be a spy like Asiye. He is terrified and assures her he wouldn’t do such a thing. Fusun says good and she reaches out, swipes at his hair and tells him to get it cut. She leaves.
Azize meets with Azra. It’s a happy reunion. We see Dilsah lurking at a distance, and she’s clearly distressed by this. Azize is happy that Azra is doing well and that she’s a doctor. Azra tells her, you said my mother died when I was born, and I told you I was going to be a doctor and here I am. Azra asks, how did you talk Dilsah into going out? She looks very good. Azize falters [is the guilt too much?] and Azra helps her to a chair.
Miran and Hazar return to the konaklar. Hazar tells his son, whatever happens from now on, whoever attempts to take your life or hurt you, will have to deal with not just you, but me too. You will not do this, he tells Miran. You can’t go out there by yourself, understand?
Azat comes outside and Hazar enters the Sad konak. Azat wants to know what happened. Miran tells him they killed the truck driver before he could spill. Azat is alarmed and asks, did you see who shot? Miran says he saw him. Azat asks for the deets. Miran hesitates to answer. Do we know him, Azat asks? Miran gives a slight nod and says, we know him. Azat wants to know and make the person pay. Miran is reluctant to say [could it be Cihan?] Azat gets a call from Gonul informing him that Reyyan came to the mansion and made a scene. Miran takes off.
Reyyan is sitting in a field and replaying her convo with Fusun. Miran calls her and she tells him she’s at the stone hill.
Meanwhile Yaren is on the verge of another breakdown and talking to herself. She killed Reyyan’s baby and tried to kill Miran. She’s going to kill me, too. I’m dead. She won’t let me breathe, she cries, I’m going to die here!
Seyda bursts into Yaren’s room. He asks her why she changed rooms. He tells her that woman with the cane is going to kill us. She plunged Asiye’s hand into boiling water and called her a traitorous spy. She burned her! That woman has lost her mind! He curses the day he came to the Aslanbey konak.
Yaren yells at him to get out, Seyda says that’s what he wants. Let’s get out of here, he tells her. Ask Handan Hanım to come for us. You’re not well either. Fusun is going to kill us, he pleads, she will kill us! Yaren shouts, shut up! Everything that’s happening is my fault, don’t you understand?! She pushes the pleading Seyda out the door and locks it. Yaren wails and strips the sheets from her bed. She goes for her phone.
Handan is trying to get baby Huma to sleep when the frantic Yaren calls. Help me, please save me, mom! She’s going to kill us all. Handan tells her she’s coming right away, stay in the room. Yaren cries, she killed Reyyan’s baby… she also caused Miran’s accident. Handan’s jaw drops. Yaren is besides herself, she will kill me, too, mom. She’ll kill us all! Even if she doesn’t I can’t take it anymore. I can’t live like this! I see Harun everywhere! Whenever I close my eyes, I see him! I’m losing my mind, she begs, please help me, mom! Yaren hangs up and Handan shouts for her daughter.
Cihan enters and wonders what the shouting is about. Handan relays that it was Fusun who tried to kill Miran. It wasn’t an accident. She turns on Cihan, you tried to blame Azize and it didn’t work. What else could I do, Cihan answers, reveal everything and turn Fusun against us? Handan snaps back, didn’t you think that whoever would hurt Miran could hurt Yaren?
Cihan says that’s why they are in this situation. We are protecting our daughter. If you had a better idea, you should have said something. He says he feels trapped between his daughter and his brother and asks Handan to give him a break. Melike comes in to watch the baby and the parents take off.
Nasuh and Azize meet in their secluded place. He is very upset with her. How could you tear a baby away from her own mother, Nasuh asks? Okay, you’d lost Hazar and were reborn as Azize, but how could you cause another mother the same pain? She hangs her head. He continues, I know you were angry, I understand. Miran was your enemy’s blood, I get that, too. What did you want from Fusun? [inquiring minds…] What did you want from that baby?
Nasuh continues, despite all the sins you’ve committed and lives you’ve hurt, I was still on your side because Ayse meant a lot to me, and you had the right. But then he adds, I don’t have the strength to defend Azize’s sins. Tell me, he says, how do I stand in front of Fusun to protect you, my children and my grandchildren? How can I talk to a mother, Ayse? At least answer me that. What do I do now?
Are you turning your back on me, too, Azize asks? You want to cover up a sin you committed with another sin, he replies. Why? Why didn’t you say anything until now? Why would you punish a woman like that? Azize shoots back, because she was going to kill Miran! I had no choice. This war won’t end until she has her daughter. She gave me only three hours.
Nasuh says, if you want to go back to being Ayse, here is your chance. Bring her daughter back and pay for your sins. I can’t, Azize replies, I can’t. Nasuh asserts, you must, woman! You must do this so I can protect my children and grandchildren. You will return Fusun’s daughter to her, he insists, and put and end to this hostility! You must do it! He walks away from her.
Azize calls Fusun. Are you returning my daughter or digging your children’s graves, Fusun asks? If Azize were here, she would’ve already dug a grave for you, Azize responds. Eye roll from Fusun. Azize continues, it’s what you deserve, but I won’t do it. I decided to give you your daughter. Come to the location I sent you after the afternoon prayer. I will send your daughter. Fusun warns if this is another game the consequences will be very severe this time. End call.
Miran arrives at the stone hill and asks Rey why she is here. She doesn’t know. He asks her why she went to see Fusun. She doesn’t answer. She can’t even look at him. Is there something you are hiding from me, he asks? What about you, she asks in reply, what are you hiding from me? You said you wouldn’t do anything, but you went after the truck driver.
Miran explains he went because he tried to hurt them and needed to know who he worked for. Did you find out, she asks? Miran doesn’t answer that. He realizes that she is upset because he broke his promise, but he had to do this. [what else is new?] When my family is in danger, and someone is trying to hurt us, you can’t expect me to say, “here I am, come hurt me”, he tells her. He asks, why did you blame Fusun? I only went because I wanted to know the truth, she replies. Miran wonders, what reason would she have to hold a grudge against me? She revealed Azize’s secrets, she gave me back my family after all these years. Why would she want to kill me?
Rey is visibly upset and starts to walk away. Miran grabs her arm and asks, why? She leans into him and sobs. He holds her and tells her it’s okay, they don’t have to talk about it. Let’s go home, he says.
Reyyan says, everything keeps happening again. We were done with this. We fixed it and suddenly it collapsed again. Miran is clueless, nothing has collapsed, he says, why would it? What changed? I’m the same Miran [part of the problem] and you are the same Reyyan, he tells her. We chose the same path.
Rey tries to speak and Miran jumps in. That fiery vengeance burned secrets that had been buried in these lands for years. You said that people had died because of this. You said that’s why we lost all those loved ones. All those secrets cause us suffering and we can’t end up like them. You said it, those were your words, Reyyan. What changed now, he asks her. Tell me. Is there something you’re hiding from me?
She flashes on telling Azize that she can’t make her father forgive her, but even if he doesn’t, she has to tell him [that she is his mother]. Everything that’s happened to us is because you hid the truth, she tells Azize. End flash. Rey wants to tell but can’t say the words and falls into Miran’s arms again and cries.
Cut to the next scene. Mahfuz has brought Asiye to Hope Mansion. Poor woman is there with her suitcase and bandaged hand. Reyyan comes outside. Mahfuz takes Rey aside and explains what happened. He warns that Fusun is very dangerous. She won’t stop coming for you, he cautions. I know everything, he tells Rey, I know you went to see Fusun and defied her. Asiye told me.
Rey wants to know why he’s here. I need to protect you, he replies. She scoffs, at my age? He knows she doesn’t see him as her father and that’s her right. But it is a father’s duty to protect his child. How do you plan on protecting me, she snaps back. He tells her Asiye is the only one he trusts, keep her close. She will protect you with her life, Mahfuz says, you, your family, and your baby. Your lives mean more to me than anything. Even if I can’t be with you, I will take care of you until my dying breath. Don’t ever forget that, kızım. Mahfuz leaves.
Fusun stands on the balcony says, [Turkish] keep your promise, Azize. Otherwise, even a hellish demon like you will be surprised at the kind of hell you fell into. Yaren suddenly appears on the patio below. Fusun Hanım! It was me. Harun… I killed him! I killed your son!
And we are out!
DONDI...YOU BROUGHT IT!!!!!!!!!...FIRE!!!!
DILSAH'S... 'SIDE- EYE' is everything!!!!!!!..LOL..!! LOVE IT..cause Reyyan doesn't have any business ..'Effing'...with Azize..
..if AZIZE REAAALLLYY wants to protect the Family..TAKE THAT BULLET..!!
YA-ALLAHU!! YAREN...God Bless you..!!..you are going to put an end to all of our suffering..!!!!yea!!
Thank you Darcy! Excellent, excellent recap! Yes, last nights episode was a GOOD one! Aside from Rosario’s meltdown, and Gabriela’s ridiculousness, it was near perfect! Guess you gotta have a little bit of angst though.
I just love the lands, the scenery, the freedom of riding horses on a beautiful day! I love the graciousness of Sarita and the kindness of all the Reyes’ toward Muriel! I loved JD getting hit with the proverbial “thunderbolt,” and thought back to a beginning scene where Juan told his son that he knew who the woman was for him the moment he met her—— that being Norma. Juan Sr simply rocks! His character is off the wall cool! And the only reason I think that he’s allowed to let the twins get out of hand is for Norma’s sake. He still looks at Norma like he did 20 yrs ago, so despite their differences where the twins are concerned, it’s obvious that Norma still handles her business and pleases her man.
This Muriel, the one who was experiencing freedom, and kindness and a genuine friend in Andres, is much, much more likable than the Muriel we were introduced too! She fit right in with the family, and aside from JD’s standoffish-ness in trying to figure out why this young lady was affecting him so, the day was pretty awesome. Shame Gaby wasn’t there too. I’m sorry if Andres does indeed have romantic aspirations toward Muriel. I really like Andres and think that he is also the cat’s meow, but it’s obvious that the sparks between JD and Muriel won’t be denied. I’m also very sorry that JD slept with Rosario, cause the ick factor is definitely there. Even though I don’t think JD would’ve slept with Rosario if he was in a completely right state of mind, still there’s that, and we know it will be a factor. Have to give JD props for staying away from Rosario, but will he be able to stay away from Muriel if she decides to stay? And the club?
I’m glad Norma and JD took Don Martin. Why didn’t Gabriela think of that? She’s still such a foolish, foolish woman!
Thanks again for your recap! Stellar!
FABULOUS recap dondi356! I tell you, I’m really at the point of not watching the episode at all and just reading the recaps, lol. These people make me angry, and I’m tired of the meanness and repetitive outrage, crying and innocent people paying for the crimes of others. And yes, they are crimes! What Fusun did to Asiye was an outrage, and no matter if she is the queen of the castle, she would’ve got a serious beatdown and had some charges pressed against her! Just unacceptable! And why does Fusun always get the last word?!?! And why isn’t Harun haunting her azz too?!?! He knew how horrible his mother was! I am glad that Yaren is about to crack, but these people put up with waaaaaay to much from those in power! I know it’s the “western” influence in me talking, but I would’ve been dead already if I had to put up with this nonsense!
And if Dilsah’s dislike for Reyyan stems from her talking to Azize, then she should dislike, Miran, her daughter Azra, and even Granny Sukran! It’s not like Reyyan is inviting her in to dinner, she’s just telling her about herself and all her sins, just like everyone else does. Reyyan needs to tell all these people, including Miran to kiss where she sits and to figure it out on their own!
To top things off. Azize asks Nasuh if he’s going to turn on her too! Well why the hell shouldn’t he! You’ve caused all of this! You let your hate and revenge ruin every good thing that coulda/shoulda been! If Azize was really smart, and wanted to outsmart Fusun, then she should’ve faked her own death and made things right without anyone ever knowing that it was her!
These folks seriously make me want to spit! I am looking forward to A at/ Gonul though, lol……
Thanks so much again Dondi356! What you guys do, even and especially when things get unbearable, is FANTASTIC! Much appreciated!
Dondi, thank you for every gruesome detail of this carousel of horrors.
OMG, Fusion is an overdressed monster. Who is going to stop her in her path of destruction ? Mafmouz?
It's time for this train of trauma and tragedy to finally pull into the station so we can all move on.
Wow! Thanks VERY much, dondi356, for this superlative recap! The episode was far more interesting than some of the other recent ones, but the scene with Fusun holding Asiye's hand in the boiling water really grossed me out. I was under the impression that the 9pm time slot avoided outright torture. Oh well....
So Miran admits he saw the person who shot the truck driver, and the person is someone he and Azat know. I suspect it may have been Firat, since he knows that the truck driver escaped and he also seems to want to do whatever it takes to prevent Miran from being an assassin. I never thought about Cihan until I read your recap. Did Cihan hire the truck driver? If not, what would Cihan's motivation be for shooting him? Is Cihan that intent on protecting Fusun?
As if we needed more proof, Azra says that Azize told her her mother died in childbirth. Yeah, right. Seems to me that Azra is VERY likely Fusun's daughter.
I was surprised when Mahfouz tells Reyyan that Asiye would protect her with her life. Why would she do that? Out of love for Mahfouz?
Well, I guess it was inevitable that Yaren would confess. I so dislike her that her misery hasn't made me feel at all sympathetic.
I agree strongly with other commenters who have expressed the wish that this dizi were over already. I especially enjoyed Susanlynn's "It's time for this train of trauma and tragedy to finally pull into the station so we can all move on."
First of all, kudos to Susanlynn for "train of trauma and tragedy". My excellent middle school English teacher would have applauded you for the fine alliteration.
And, dondi, once again you produced a terrific and thorough recap.
These dizis have a lot of similarities to most English television shows. Notable exceptions were Dezi Arnaz and Don Draper. Those guys went to work. Miran just has men to do his bidding at his beck and call and never seems to earn any money to pay them
How the hell did Fusun's children end up in an orphanage? Nizli said a brother ended up there (Harun?); and, if Azra is her daughter, how did this fearsome woman let the kid end up in an orphanage as well. So that Azize could take her for solace for Dilsah.
And why in blazes won't Reyyan tell Miran about Fusun sending the abortifacient sweets? I suppose we're to believe that she doesn't dare tell the hothead anything.
Fusun is running out of servants. She may have to start learning how to make tea.
I have little hope that Yaren's confession will do anything. Fusun will just think she's nuts and continue to blame Azize.
I'm not on the Hate Azize train so much. In her favor was not hurting Dilsah physically, only mentally. And she didn't have to give her a child to heal some of her wounds.
I am with the rest of you in being very tired of Dilsah's behavior toward Reyyan. And why doesn't she just tell Reyyan why she's gone off her. And why doesn't Reyyan get the reason out of her. Reyyan was the reason Dilsah ended up accepting the reality of her son being alive.
I think they pretty much ruined the dizi with the introduction of Fusun. They could have just played out Azize repenting for her sins and being recognized as Hazar's mother and Miran's grandmother.
Thank you Carmella! And thank you for mentioning: 'I loved JD getting hit with the proverbial “thunderbolt,” and thought back to a beginning scene where Juan told his son that he knew who the woman was for him the moment he met her' I had totally forgotten about that!!! Very interesting.
I totally agree with you that JD probably wouldn't have slept with Rosario if he had been in his right state of mind. I think all of his behavior before and after that night might it pretty clear he wouldn't have. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
I went back and re-watched the scenes in the fields and the lunch so I could watch while not distracted by recapping and I am even more convinced Andres caught on to exactly what was going on between Muriel and JD, he gave both of them several knowing looks. I am glad because I'd hate to think of him being blind sighted by it later.
I also totally agree that the Muriel we saw out at the ranch was very different and much more likable!!
“I think they pretty much ruined the dizi with the introduction of Fusun”. ABSOLUTELY! And Dilsah too, imho……..
Yes, they could have saved so much money on wardrobe if they hadn't written Fusan into this tale.
I would have preferred just having Dilsah as the sad, wronged love of Hazar's life .
And what is up with all the missing babies ?
I thought things were really looking up when Gorgeouscreep suddenly appeared out of nowhere , but then that whole storyline fizzled out with whimper instead of a bang . well, actus!my there was a bang and then a firey explosion. Did the actor get another job offer?
Harun seemed to be a mysterious stranger who was going to tame that shrew Yaren, but he was suddenly shot and stayed dead unlike Miraclemiran. These writers insert characters and start storylines but never bring them to conclusions. They leave us hanging over and iver.
There is so much that doesn't make sense in this show.
Thank you, Darcy, your love for the show shines through. And the recap was outstanding, as always.
Carmella, I'm loving Juan, too, he is such à powerful présence, someone who doesn't need to scream to make a point. I do have to Wonder about he and Norma, though. There was à talk à while back between the sisters and Norma kind of said that things aren't the same anymore. And she did refuse a night of nookie a few nights ago. But there is obvious love there and the actors do a great job making us believe thèse two have been together the Last 20 years.
I'm going to play Devil's advocate here, but what if the abuelo really needs à pshich évaluation? He must be pushing 90 by now, it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for him to have some kind of mental illness. Why else would they choose to bring the character back if not to créate some real drama? Don M.'s antics were fun 20 years ago, now I personally find him tiring and a waste of airtime. We've already seen this play out once, why show us again that Gabriela is an idiot who never learns?
I'm not yet sure about liking the ideea of Muriel with JD, I kind of like Andres better for her - the conflict could come from the fact that her father will hate the Franco connection.
I did like Muriel better with the Reyes, though...
Thanks, everyone, for reading and commenting and hanging in there! And thank you, Juanita, for restoring my recap.
I hear you, carmella. If it wasn’t for the patio and my Friday recap duties, I would have started half watching this. I gave this a pass when it originally aired, but when it popped up on Telemundo, I figured I’d give it a try.
“…people paying for the crimes of others. And yes, they are crimes!” No one ever calls the police. It was surprising that we saw them investigating Harun’s death. And that was botched and called a suicide. Or maybe someone was bribed into concluding that. Who knows?
“I know it’s the “western” influence in me talking…” Southeastern Turkish dizis are a culture shock for most of us. Of course, they take dramatic license but still, it’s a different world.
“…she [Azize] should’ve faked her own death and made things right without anyone ever knowing that it was her!” That just might have made a better storyline, carmella.
I suspect Fusun would need to have a shred of conscience in order to be haunted by Harun. This woman is inhuman.
Susanlynn, I have no idea who can stop the “overdressed monster”…lol Your guess of Mahfuz is a possibility. It would be a shame if they will sacrifice him in the bargain.
Juanita, Firat did cross my mind as the shooter. But Cihan saw Miran and Hazar drive off and then he drove off in his car, too. He could have followed them. Then, Miran was very reluctant to tell Azat who he saw. That made me think it could have been Cihan. Still, it only places Cihan at the scene. There could have been a Fusun henchie that fired the shot.
I laughed when Mahfuz said Asiye would protect Rey with her life. She couldn’t even protect her hand from being boiled.
And I’m not very sympathetic to Yaren either.
“How the hell did Fusun's children end up in an orphanage?” I’d like to know this and more, novelera. This is the last great mystery for me. Whatever her agenda was/is, children probably were a hinderance so she ditched them. I don’t think Azize took Azra so much as a comfort to Dilsah, but as something to use against Fusun. These two harpies were/are playing the long game. Decades long.
Rey and Firat know Miran too well. They know that Miran can’t be stopped if they tell him who did what. So yes, we are to believe they won’t “dare tell the hothead anything”. I can’t figure out why they love this guy so much.
I agree that they ruined things by introducing Fusun. I suspected that Dilsah was still alive, and I was open to it, but what they are doing with her is a total disaster. This dizi should have ended by now.
Just saw your post, Susanlynn. We need to remember that they don’t write and film dizis like American shows. They write and film as they go along each week. Great attention is paid to weekly ratings and audience reactions. Adjustments are made. If ratings are bad and if there is no international interest, series get canceled, often with a rushed, terrible ending or even no ending at all!
Everyone has a contract for a specific number of eps. If a show is renewed for more eps, sometimes contracts are renewed, sometimes not, for whatever reasons. When it’s a change in writers and/or cast, we often get abrupt changes to the storyline.
Covid also threw a wrench into shows that aired during the past couple of years. Turkey had shutdowns and actors and crews tested positive.
Sefirin Kızı (La Hija del Embajador) is another example of a show that was impacted by changes in cast, writers and Covid.
I was very sorry that they decided to kill Harun to up the revenge factor instead of taming the shrew, Yaren. I had hopes for Aslan Aslanbey, too.
Wow! Seems like an awful lot of trouble to go to, writing, rewriting and filming as they go along! Seems like it would make more sense to stick with the main story and secondary characters, and producing a cohesive story instead of continually adding new characters who just muck up the pot of stew. Many times, in watching novelas and Asian dramas, you end up rooting for secondary characters who have a good storyline too. Aslan and Harun were two such characters, along with Elif who’s early and senseless demise probably lost some viewers. Even Yaren should’ve been redeemed. Not only because she’s young and beautiful, but because there’s been no real explanation on why she’s so hateful.
And why did characters like Melike and Mahmoud only have such a one dimensional storyline. Why couldn’t Melike and Mahmoud fall in love or something? Lol. Then you have those characters that disappeared without a trace without a reasonable explanation like puppy eyes and Miran’s ex GF. What happened to puppy eye’s Mom too? I don’t remember. Although they gave an explanation for Sultana leaving ( and I’m glad she did, lol) it was still half-azz.
I know many don’t care for Azat/ Gonul pairing, but I need some “fresh” love, lol! I really like Firat/Zeynep too! It should’ve been Reyyan and Yaren healing their relationship and finding a new respect for one another, not Reyyan and Gonul. They didn’t have to become best buds, but it would’ve been nice to see them come to an understanding.
ITA with you dondi356 and many others on the turn this dizi has taken……..
Not all dizis become disasters like this one. I’ve seen some outstanding ones, like Fatmagul, which we just finished here and many others that were good enough to be enjoyable. I’ve also dropped many after a few eps, like Akın’s new show. I kept seeing Miran in his performance.
I agree with you, carmella, on the importance of secondary characters and the dangers of one dimensional writing.
Bad translations and/or dialog changes are pet peeves of mine when watching a dizi translated into Spanish or even English.
Sometimes the stars align for a hit and sometimes they don’t. And they have to know when to go out on that high note. Same with American TV, TNs, and K-dramas.
I’m fine with Gonul and Azat. Kind of get a kick out of it since I know they are together IRL. Still, I wish they made Elif and Azat work out. And I’m all for Firat and Zeynep.
IIRC, there was a worker at the Sad konak, Riza, who seemed to be sweet on Melike but he disappeared like Puppy Eyes did. Puppy’s mom went off with Zehra to care for her mom but never came back. LOL--- Melike and Mahmut. BTW, Mahmut’s last name is listed as “Kim”, which means “who” in Turkish.
Hello herc Patio! I am so, so late to the party and have really enjoyed reading all the great comments. novelera and dondi356 your recaps were terrific, as usual. I am grateful everyone is hanging in to watch this dizi, even if you are not liking the story the comments are so good! I think I am only one really enjoying it, even with all the crazies and craziness!
carmella, I had to laugh at the Melike/Mahmut pairing! Gonul and Azat are growing on me. I hope Firat can make things work with Zeynep and she isn't another long lost Aslanbey baby!
The Azra/Fusun mystery is so interesting.
dondi356, thank you for the extra explanations of the making of a dizi and how COVID affected some of the more recent ones. I cant wait to find some time to watch the dizi's you and Susanlynn have recommended. I agree with you that the translation from Turkish to Spanish or English just isn't the same. I have found myself watching the Turkish version more and more. Fusun is much better voice wise in the Turkish.
Well, looks like I get to recap what happens to the crazy yellow centipede on Monday. Thanks again recappers!
I don't even remember Puppyeyes and his mother.
I am still trying to figure out why the two new cooks were introduced.
I am ready to move on to the next dizi. Does anyone know what is replacing Hercai?
Currently I am watching Amor Eterna and reading the old recaps here at caray. Beautiful people suffering. I am impatiently waiting for the second season of "La Hija. "
