Mi Fortuna es Amarte #29 Wed. 4/6/22

1. Connie makes it clear to Samia that an abortion isn't in the cards for her niece.

2. At his office in the garage, Tavo is expressing his regrets to Chole that Connie will not give him a divorce. Chole says they knew it was never going to be easy with Connie. Tavo also has something to tell Chole before they take the first step. He only hopes that after he is honest, that she won't cut him out of he life. Before he can say anymore, he is interrupted by noise from the garage.

3. JuanGa is fighting with Simba and Tavo breaks them up.  Evidently Simba was telling them all about what  he had going on with Olga once upon a time before JuanGa. Olga denies it all and tries to attack Simba, too. One of the other workers starts to complain about how lazy and dishonest Simba is.  Tavo has had it with Simba and fires him on the spot. Simba threatens him with telling Connie about Chole. Tavo refuses to be intimidated.

4. Connie goes to see William at the club demanding to know how much money he wants now. He tries to embrace her and she warns him not to touch her. He forces himself on her saying he wants to make love to her. She angrily pushes him away. He says he was thinking about old times with her. She lets him know he will never put his disgusting hands on her again. He wants to see her tonight at the apartment that she bought for him. If she doesn't show, her video just might end up on the internet. He gives her a quick kiss on the way out to make his point.

5. Granny Magos isn't feeling well and finally makes it up to her bed to sit down. Chente comes in after her. He is upset because Natalie and her daughters are moving out of the house. She tells him to sit down next to her. She asks if he has had a fight with that woman who seems like a saint.  He explains that since Andrea is expecting, she wants to take her girls to live somewhere better.  Granny gives him some advice. Everything can be fixed in this life except death. She tells him not to make a mistake and let such a wonderful woman like Natalia go.  He asks what he can do. He even offered to remove the wall to make things look better but that didn't do it. Granny Magos says he and Natalia  also have a wall on the inside, around their souls. He knows they have those walls to protect their hearts. Granny Magos reminds him that they found each other when they most needed each other. She is sure that Lucía herself sent Natalia to him.

6. Natalia is at the club manager's office where he is telling her that they will no longer be needing her desserts. He lies saying that there were a lot of complaints so they are going with the previous supplier. She is angry and doesn't understand since he himself tried them and told her they were delicious. It isn't fair. He is sorry but there is nothing he can do.

7. Olga attends to the wounds on JuanGa's face from the fight. He says he did it to defend her. That is what happens when you go out with the most beautiful girl in the neighborhood. She admits it made her feel good that he defended her against the bad things that Simba was saying about her. She never expected it from him. It was a surprise. He is behaving super cool with her. He pledges himself to her and they kiss.

8. Natalia comes back to Chente's and finds Granny Magos unconscious seated on the stairs. She drops her belongings and runs to try to help her.  Chente quickly comes down the stairs to see what is going on. They both try to get her  to wake up. Natalia apologizes to Chente for not having told him  that Granny Magos is very ill and only has a short time to live but Granny Magos made her promise not to.  They continue to try to awaken Granny Magos.

9. Simba is waiting for Connie when she arrives home. He has to remind her that he is Nestor one of the mechanics at her husband's shop. He explains that Tavo just fired him. She doesn't care and tells hm to leave. He asks if she also doesn't care that her husband is cheating on her with the owner of the beauty salon. He can help her out.  He could give Chole a good scare so she would leave Tavo alone. Connie is  interested in his services. She will take care of Chole herself but she has another job for him. She can pay him very well and make sure that Tavo gives him his job back. She only needs to know how far is he willing to go. He says it is just a matter of her telling him how far that is. She explains that a man is hurting her and she needs him to disappear permanently from her life. He asks where he can find him. he will do what she wants. Connie smiles.

10. Granny Magos finally comes to and asks what happened.  Chente tells her that she fainted. Natalia asks how she is feeling. Granny Magos thinks she fainted because of  low blood sugar. She wants tea with honey. Chente wants to take her to the hospital.  Granny Magos doesn't want to be bothered with doctors. She is fine. Things like this happen when you get old. Natalia sends Chente to the kitchen to make the tea.

11. When alone, Natalia apologizes to Granny Magos for having to tell Chente the truth about her medical condition when they found her unconscious. Granny Magos is disappointed because Natalia promised her she wouldn't tell.  She cannot have Chente knowing  she has one foot in the grave.  Chente brings Granny Magos the tea. Natalia gives the tea to Granny Magos spoonful by spoonful. All Chente can say is  what a scare Granny Magos gave them.

12. Vale talks to Mario about his job interviews. He hasn't had any luck so far because nobody trusts him. She is confident that something will come his way soon.

13. One of the mechanics lets Vale know what went down with Simba.

14. Connie gives Simba the full name: William Gutiérrez. He knows he works as a trainer at the gym. Connie warns him to be careful because William is very strong. Simba makes it clear that he cut his teeth on beating up  guys like him. Simba wants to know what she is asking for: a quick once over or a more extensive job?  Connie wants him to disappear and will give Simba 20,000 ($1, 011.13) pesos in cash.  Simba is pleased with the amount.

15. Simba  tells Connie  he will see her at the burial and to bring flowers. He leaves as a cab pulls up with Regina and 2XJosé. Regina is there to see her sister. Connie says fine but her "cat" AKA 2XJosé will have to wait outside. 2XJosé says he will wait for her. As she escorts Regina inside, Connie tells him no need to wait for Regina because she will drive her home. As 2XJosé leaves, he tries to warn Simba off of Connie. Simba doesn't take  him seriously.

16. Chente gets Granny Magos all comfy in her bed and takes off her shoes. He asks if she wants her pills that help with her nausea. Granny Magos thinks they are the pink ones among all of the different medicine the doctor has prescribed for her. Chente tells her that she has a lot of medicine for a person who isn't sick. Granny Magos insists they are only vitamins.  She wants to know if he has spoken to Natalia like she told him to do. He says that has been the last thing on his mind. She warns him that he cannot allow her to leave the house with her daughters. He asks how can he think about anything else if he has to worry about her fainting. Granny Magos reminds him that she has already told him that these are things that just come with age. She informs him that if he lets Natalia leave neither she nor Ben will ever forgive him.

17.  Regina tells Andrea that she was really worried about the baby and her. Andrea is feeling better but tells Regina that  her pinky promise isn't worth a thing. Regina asks what was she supposed to do with her aunt pulling away in her car and her mom being super worried. She cannot be like their father and hide the truth. She reminds Andrea she isn't the only one who matters. That is not what Andrea wants to hear. It seems that Auntie Connie is the only one she can trust.

18. Chente comes into the kitchen and is confused seeing Natalia putting her desserts back in their refrigerated cases.  In tears, she tells him that the club does not want them any more.  He doesn't understand because her desserts are the best in the world. She thanks him and bemoans the fact that now  she will have to put her plans to move out on hold. Chente is sorry for her situation but makes it clear that she and her daughters can stay as long as they want. Natalia is overwhelmed and in tears as she tells Chente that she feels like she just doesn't know how much more she can take. He takes her in his arms and comforts her as she cries.

19. Andrea explains to her sister how she doesn't know what to think about Omar. He was supposed to come and see her but never showed up.  Regina asks Andrea if she wants her to call him to see if he will answer. Regina calls and finds out that the number is no longer in service. Andrea is convinced that Omar has eliminated her from his life. Regina tells her she is suffering just like her mother is because Andrea doesn't want to live with them. Andrea makes it clear that she will never move back. It is a very different experience crying into silk sheets rather than being in the maid's quarters.  Regina thinks that their mother needs Andrea and Andrea needs her even if she doesn't know it. Andrea makes it clear that she has all that she needs at Connie's. She needs to pay doctors, buy cute clothes when her tummy grows,  get pretty things for her baby. . . so very much! Regina asks her if she is letting herself be "bought" by their aunt just because their mother cannot pay for all of that. Andrea gets on her high horse and says that her parents never accustomed her to being poor so she would rather, ten to one,  deal with her "pain" of an aunt than deal with poverty.

20. Chente tells Natalia that tomorrow he is going to remove the wall so they can make the house  real cute so her daughter will see it differently. Natalia sadly tells  him that with or without a wall, Andrea will always prefer her sister's house. She has everything she could want with her. Chente says she doesn't have her mother's love. Natalia admits that things are more important to Andrea than her love. Natalia changes the topic to Granny Magos and how she broke her promise to her. Chente knows she did it out of affection for her but he knows that there is something serious going on with Granny Magos. He needs to talk to her doctor. There must be something they can do to save her life. Natalia has no idea who her doctor is or what her diagnosis is. Granny Magos didn't want to show her her tests, either. Chente asks Natalia to help him out since Granny Magos trusts her. Maybe she could get her to go for a second opinion. Natalia promises him that she will  do whatever she can to help.

21. Connie asks if she can come in as she is coming  in. Regina calls her on it and tells her she was already in. Connie tells her to watch herself not because of her but because of Andrea. In a most obnoxious way, Connie says they all have to pull together so Andrea's pregnancy is pleasant. Doesn't she agree?  With a big fake smile, Regina agrees saying that is why she came. Andrea has bad news for Connie. Regina tried calling Omar but his number is out of service. Andrea complains that she hasn't been able to find her phone. No worries! Auntie Connie has bought her the newest and best phone. Andrea is overjoyed. Connie wants to take  Regina home and  pick up Andrea's belongings, too. Regina tells her to think about it.  Andrea doesn't have to think and she thanks a beaming Auntie Connie for bringing over her belongings.

22. Natalia checks on Granny Magos who is feeling much better after the tea. Granny Magos is sure it must have been low blood sugar. Natalia checks that she is following a doctor's treatment plan. Granny Magos says of course unless she forgets.  Natalia tells her how important it is for her to keep with the program. Granny Magos says the treatment is only going to take her to the cemetery and she prefers to spend her last days happy instead of in a hospital. Natalia suggests she get a second opinion. Granny Magos makes it very clear. She has a tumor and pretty soon flowers will be springing from her navel. Granny Magos refuses to give in as Natalia thinks that maybe a specialist could remove her tumor. Granny  Magos makes it clear that she is not going under the knife with any doctor.  Natalia asks that she do it for her grandsons and for Ben. She can't give up. She has to fight. Granny Magos finally gives in to stubborn Natalia and agrees to  get a second opinion. Granny Magos makes her promise not to tell anyone about their little talk.

23. JuanGa brings Olga some flowers at the salon and flirts with her. She likes the flowers but wishes that he should use more of his imagination like taking her out dancing, strolling, etc. . . JuanGa says he gets it and will take her out to a club to dance tonight. Olga "looks"  pleased but still teases him: No kiss for him now and nothing more than that until she is married.  He looks forward to getting her kisses tonight. She throws the flowers in the trash as soon as he is gone.

24. Chente wants Natalia to tell him what Granny Magos said. She tells him that Granny Magos agreed to get a second opinion. She has a tumor. He presumes it is cancer. She tells him not to speculate. She will talk to Fernanda and see if she can recommend a doctor. Chente is worried about how expensive some of the hospitals are.  Natalia tells him not to think about that for now. He thanks her for all she has done and is doing. Natalia says she is merely paying him back for all he did for her. She grabs his hand and tells him they are going to have faith and together they will solve their problems.

25. Natalia calls Fernanda who is at the club.   No, Natalia is not coming to the club. We can tell that she tells Fernanda why. They make plans to meet at the usual cafe.

26. At the club, Samia appears. No, Fernanda cannot stay and chat with Samia. She is going to go meet with Natalia. She asks Fernanda if she had heard that the club was no longer buying Natalia's dessert. Samia thinks that is good news. The desserts left a lot to be desired. Fernanda asks her what she is talking about. They were delicious. Fernanda reminds Sami that she has influence with the club manager.  Maybe she could change her mind. Natalia is their friend and they have to support her. Her son and Andrea are engaged right? A jubilant Samia says she is behind on the news!!!! Omar regained his senses  and cancelled the wedding. Last night, he flew  back to London to complete his studies.   Fernanda looks shocked.

27. After her last card reading appointment of the day, Chole talks with Tere. Chole tells her how popular her readings are in the neighborhood. Tere cannot complain. Tere asks if she would like her cards read. Chole says no. She has told her already that things like that make her nervous even afraid. Tere asks what makes her afraid. Could it be that the angels are telling her about what a big mistake she is making? Tere continues telling  her that getting involved with a married man is always a mistake. Tere admits that she has lived that experience and had to learn the hard way.  Tere adds that she notices a lot of  things and asks Chole if she is going to deny that she is her son-in-law's lover.

28. Tavo is alone getting drunk on beer  at a local watering hole when Claudio invites himself to join him having brought his own bottle of liquor along. Claudio thinks that drinking is a good way to distract oneself from one's troubles. He tells Tavo that his situation with Connie doesn't have a solution. He tells  Tavo that he can count on him as a friend. He admits that he is not an exemplary man but he does value friendship. He can depend on him for what he needs. Tavo is grateful for that. He admits that he loves Chole like a madman. Claudio says that Tere has already  figured it out and if Connie finds out, he will have to forgive him for being disloyal.  Tavo informs him that Connie already knows. Claudio is surprised he is still alive. Tavo says that he asked her for a divorce and she refused threatening to take away his shop and suggesting they could save their marriage by adopting a child. Tavo has to laugh at that. Claudio hates to say it but Tavo is doing a bad thing putting his marriage at risk for a woman. Tavo isn't laughing anymore.

29. Chole asks Tere not to judge her before hearing her story. Tere is ready to listen to her. Chole says that she promised to never fall in love again after her Pancho was assaulted and killed. He was her first love and her fiancé. Tere offers her sympathy.   She was all alone and she moved to this boarding house. Connie gave her a job and she became friends with Tavo. He told her about the problems he was having with his wife. Tere agrees that Tavo has put up with so much. Chole says years went by and she forgot about her promise to her Pancho. She fell in love but she always respected her daughter's marriage. Marriage is sacred. Tere asks how could that be??? Chole explains that she and Tavo  only admitted their love for each other a short  time ago. Due to the circumstances, he wants to be free to go on with his life. Tere says she has always told her daughter that sooner or later  Tavo would go looking for a woman who would love and respect him like she hadn't done. Chole hopes she understands her. Tere says she understands more than she thinks. It hurts Tere  that both of her daughters failed in their marriages and now she wonders about the model she gave them with her own story. Chole says it was never her intention to fall in love with Tavo. She asks Tere to please forgive her. Tere grabs her hand and says she has nothing to pardon her for. She needs to make her decisions but needs to know that life puts everyone in their place.

30. Tavo cannot take living in his nightmare of a marriage any longer. Claudio suggests he make a list of the benefits he has obtained being with Connie. For example, he kept his shop. Tavo isn't happy hearing that from him, too. Claudio insists he isn't criticizing him. You have to be practical in life. He suggests they adopt a child. Tavo cannot see that helping anything. Claudio suggests he use his imagination. Connie is afraid of being alone.  If Connie had a baby, it would be the center of her attention and Tavo would move to second place. After helping her fulfill her dream, maybe she would be more open to fulfilling his by granting him a divorce. Tavo can only shake his head.

31. Regina packs up the "princess'" belongings as and is snarky to Connie as she observes from the doorway. Connie warns her about what she says. Regina laughs it off saying everyone knows how Connie is. Connie thinks that Regina is just like her mother. Is she going to accuse her of gaining something from what she did for Andrea? Her mother should be grateful because she is taking charge of what she  is incapable of handling. Regina tells her not to talk about her mother that way and if Connie has set Andrea up only to dash her hopes, she will have to deal with her.

32. Natalia meets with Fernanda at a café. She tells Fernanda that she is surviving the storm. Fernanda finds it incredible that the club has refused to buy her desserts. Fernanda is going to get her an appointment with the supervisor of the hospitals' kitchens. She tells Natalia that she would have to make a much larger quantity than  what she is used to. Natalia says that is no problem because she wants to work. Fernanda cannot believe that Omar called off the wedding and left the country knowing that Andrea was expecting a baby. Natalia is shocked. nobody told her that Omar left the country. Fernanda explains he went back to London to continue his studies.

33. Connie sees Regina as a victim of her father who left her so hurt that she doesn't trust anyone. Connie says Regina is wrong about her. Regina hopes so because she doesn't want to see her sister hurt. Connie tells her to understand she is only looking for the best for Andrea. Regina and her mother are welcome anytime they want to come and visit her. She hopes that Regina changes her attitude so the baby can be welcomed with love and harmony. Connie leaves with Andrea's things.

34. William is receiving another payment from a woman the club parking lot. She passes him an envelope of cash and tells him this is the last payment. If her husband finds out he is extorting her, he will kill him. He smiles not believing her and gets in his car.

35. Fernanda says she got the news about Omar from Samia who seemed pleased about how it all turned out. Natalia breaks down saying that Andrea doesn't deserve this kind of pain. Fernanda says there are free public services to hold Omar accountable for his child. Natalia  wishes Andrea were with her but has to admit that Andrea is living with her sister  because of the  things Natalia cannot afford to giver her. Fernanda tells her to relax. The tie that unites them is unbreakable.

36. It was apparent that William didn't unlock his car when he got in so we can assume  it was never locked. William  discovers an unexpected and unwanted companion as he is driving along when Simba pops up from the back seat and holds a knife to his throat. SURPRISE!

37. 2XJosé notices that Chente looks upset. First of all,  he tells him about Granny Magos and her fainting episode. Then there is Natalia who lost her account for her desserts. So she has all the desserts but no money. Regina overhears and cannot believe it. What to do with the desserts so they do not go to waste? Ben seems to have an idea. Through pantomime he suggests that they go out and sell them on the street. They all agree that it is a great idea.

38. William soon finds out that Simba doesn't want money or his car.  He finds out that somebody wants him  dead and gone. Simba tells him to keep driving.

39. Chente and the kids sell Natalia's desserts out in front of their house and are successful.

40. Natalia tells Fernanda about Chente's grandmother. They found a tumor and at her age she is resigned to dying rather than having surgery. Fernanda concludes  she needs another doctor to do she tests. Natalia agrees. She doesn't want her grandsons to know and she doesn't have any money. Fernanda says the hospital has a program that deals with the elderly who have limited resources.  Under that program, she will be able to see the best specialist. She cannot wait until Chente finds out. Fernanda has noticed that he has been very attentive to her and her daughters. Natalia agrees and admits that he is a great guy. After being widowed,  he has pushed himself so hard to support his son.  He truly doesn't deserve another tragedy in his life. Fernanda  smiles and says she has  noticed that whenever Natalia talks about Chente, her eyes sparkle. Natalia disagrees. Fernanda  laughs. Natalia says that Chente is just a good friend and her heart isn't ready to love again. Fernanda grins and asks really ???

41. The dessert sales are going well when Mario arrives on the scene. Chente is less that happy to see him. Regina hugs Mario and  tells him how her mother lost the dessert contract at the club. Mario joins in on the selling when a man comes up asking what a certain cake is and how it tastes. Mario gives him the French name of the cake which means nothing to the man.  Chente jumps in  with a small cake for him to taste. He adds that the man doesn't have to pay if he doesn't like it. The man loves it. Chente is pleased and lets him take it without paying. Mario is critical saying that they will never make money for Natalia by giving her desserts away. Chente tells Mario that sometimes you have to lose in order to win and that Mario is not familiar with how you sell things in this neighborhood. Chente schools him then and there.

Jarifa, a masterful, all encompassing read. It is as if you truly see deep into the minds and souls of both our loving and reprehensible characters.

My favorite of many was “Chente schools him then and there”.

Carmen Salinas is extraordinary and while I felt she seemed unwell last night it might have been her prowess as an actress. She has quickly become the heart of this story.

“Natalia is shocked”. And unfortunately, always several steps behind. It seems not only the fates but others’ evil machinations have conspired to keep her in the dark.

“If Connie had a baby, it would be the center of her attention and Tavo would move to second place. After helping her fulfill her dream, maybe she would be more open to fulfilling his by granting him a divorce. Tavo can only shake his head.” Can Simba please do a “two fer”?

Tere and Chloe’s conversation proved Tere is a wise woman able to see others’ struggles but refuses to extricate herself from the quicksand of a marriage she is mired in.

We could all use a friend like Fernanda.

I missed the ending and can’t wait to watch the bake sale.

Thank you Jarifa! A marvelous summary to end the day.

Diana

Jarifa: Super enjoyed your deep long thorough recap of last night's episode. It was AWESOME!

Diana: Big question is whether Connie will have an abortion ?

Steve Boudreaux

When I said Simba should do a "two fer" I was of course referring to Claudio, not Tavo!

Diana

Hey, Jarifa! This was a great read. I totally appreciated your giving us the gist of much of the barrio slang. At times, it is truly hard to follow - like Simba and Connie's conversation. I got a chuckle from:

"Simba pops up from the back seat and holds a knife to his throat. SURPRISE!"

Diana: ITA, LOL. Clod and Willie--a twofer.

Steve: Any lists for us yet?

Jarifa, thank you for another great recap of all the action and inaction.

I feel for the actress portraying Abuela as life reflects art , and Carmen deals with her own ilness. Amazing what people can do, isn't it? This part is a tribute for this actress's long career.

Yikes ...knives out last night ...Simba threatens Will and on Hercai a woman held a knife to an awful woman who harmed her daughter . Yikes.

Vulgar the virgin ?? Juan is kind of sweet in a vulnerable kind of way.

Chente, take down that stupid , useless , intrusive wall.

OT....judyb, amiga, I am here waving to you and continuing sending you Good vibrations )))))))))

Thanks, Jarifa, enjoyed the detailed recap.

Claudio is not the one to give Tavo advice. He will make sure he benefits from the outcome.

Glad Natalia has one good friend and hope Fernanda is wise to Sami’s ways. It looks like she will help with the desserts and Grandma.

Loved Ben’s idea and the scene of them selling the cakes.

And hope William isn’t killed, he needs to expose Connie! And soon enough so that Andrea has to crawl home to her mom and ask to stay there. Although she and Connie are so much alike. I think Connie wants her baby. Poor kid!

Thanks for stopping by the patio.

Diana, “Can Simba please do a ‘two fer?’ ” I got a good laugh. If only . . .

Jardinera, I got another good laugh out of Simba popping up. William isn’t as slick or smart as he thinks.

Susanlynn, yikes! Two knife threats in a row!

Liz, Fernanda has been a breath of fresh air. Natalia has to have a friend somewhere to trust.

Jarifa, as always, you gave us another great recap. Thank you! I'm sending you a virtual bouquet of roses (not yellow)!   :-)

Diana, Re: Can Simba please do a “two fer”? and "I was of course referring to Claudio, not Tavo!"
Maybe we can convince him to do a "three fer". I am really tired of forever moping Tavo. Nice guy, but sometimes that's not enough.

Maybe I'm a "little" dense, but did Constanza actually hire Simba (some Simba) to kill William?

Susanlynn, "Chente, take down that stupid , useless , intrusive wall." I had a flashback to a former president, but nonetheless I agree.

Fernanda is quite the "fixer".

Vulga is terrible, but she also makes me laugh sometimes. Like with the flowers; tread softly, Vulga.

Andy

Well done, Jarifa.

Natalia has to find out that it was her own sister who sabotaged her. I was hoping that the club president was going to double-cross her, but he's too chicken. He could have asked Nat for different recipes for the next shipment.

I hope that the barrio residents paid enough to at least make Natalia break even.

Chente is right: Giving away samples is very effective!

Andy, thank you for the virtual “non-yellow” roses! ¡Ja! ¡Ja! As for Connie, she hired Simba to permanently disappear William which I took as sending him subterranean as in six feet under. It will be interesting.

Urban, nothing like free samples to sweeten a future purchase.

"Diana, Re: Can Simba please do a “two fer”? and "I was of course referring to Claudio, not Tavo!" Maybe we can convince him to do a "three fer". I am really tired of forever moping Tavo ".

That and your comment about the wall had me laughing out loud Andy. Thank you - I needed that!

Diana

Jardinera: Not yet.
