Thank you, Weirdo and Adriana for the recaps! Weirdo, I really enjoyed your first two, of I hope many, recaps! Those subtitles can be frustrating and we have a couple of mumblers in this novela. I have to use the subtitles to understand most of what Oscar and Juan say.
It is definitely nice to see a kinder, gentler Gabriela. She and Juan are getting along well. We will see how well, now that Demitrio has returned and is sleeping in Don Martin/Juan’s room! I had to laugh when the twins picked up Gabriela and fireman carried her and even pretended to give her nalgadas! (butt smacks).
The motorcycle dude helping Demi told him that someone saw Demi entering the safe house the night the guard was stabbed and turned him in. That is how the police found him so quickly.
I am disgusted by Romina and how she treats Duvan. I have never seen a child mistreated in a TN before and I don’t like it one bit. Granted, I am new to TN watching but I don’t know if I can watch those types of scenes before going to bed.
The creepy guy stalking Norma is full of himself. The nerve of him showing up half dressed to “clean the pool” and then picking up Norma last night. He deserves Romina as Weirdo said! He also deserves a kick in the head from one of Juan’s champion horses.
I liked the singalong with the not so devil twins, JD and Norma. The son’s have done a nice job sticking together and behaving for their parents.
Well, well, well. Albin is gay after all! Like several of you, I was also surprised to see that Andres hasn’t included his family in his lifestyle choice. I don’t get that as everyone seems to know already.
I appreciate the recap dedication! Franco, Franco…where are you Franco? 😊
VVS: Strongly doubt Gabriela's kindler, gentler schtick will last as this Teleserye moves along.

Hercai - #96 – Parte 1 de 3
Well I was wrong when I commented after VVS’s recap that Sukran overhearing Dilsah might be a red herring. Sukran seems to be a LOT stronger than we’ve seen her in the past. She tells her evil offspring about everything Rey has done for her. And that Dilsah would never have even been near her son if it hadn’t been for Reyyan. Dilsah tries to worm her way out, saying her mother misunderstood. Sukran: “You’re going to stop messing with Reyyan or else you’ll find me right there in front of you.”
I can’t even remember what they did to move TN plots along before everyone had cell phones. Fu calls Cihan and wants to meet in an hour. Cihan realizes that, if Fu is alive and kicking, his plan for Miran to kill her went the way of all of his plans…nowhere.
Firat leaves his bride Zeynep to look for Miran. He tells her she’s the woman of the house. She can arrange things anyway she likes, invite whomever she wishes. He apologies to her for the lack of a big wedding and a honeymoon. He says he’ll make it up to her.
Zeynep goes back inside and what Viewerville could see coming from a mile away indeed happens. The Yellow Centipede once known as Zombie Yaren pretends to be friendly with Zeynep and praises Firat for protecting her. She goes on to say that he’s always been like that. Whenever she needs help, he runs to her side. Then she claps her hand over her mouth and pretends she’s let some cat out of the bag about... nosotros. But it was all in the past. When Zeynep abruptly goes inside we see that famous Centipede Smirk.
Asra approaches the Red Menace [Dilsah]. ReyMir come down the stairs together and the Red Menace tries to make nice. Miran first chastises Azra for not telling him about Reyyan’s medical problem and then turns to his mother. “You also knew, right? This is why you told Reyyan you wanted her dead!” Miran is ready to go full ME-ran on Dilsah, but Reyyan lies saying that Dilsah just found out. [Sheesh, Reyyan! Miran needs to know how dangerous the RM is.]
Miran calls sort of a family meeting with Azra and Reyyan. He asks Azra, as a doctor, to tell him everything. She tries to tell him something, but he interrupts her over and over again. Neither Reyyan nor Azra try to strangle him, showing amazing forbearance. He announces that he told Reyyan everything would be OK. Finally Azra speaks. “There is a guy, but he’s disappeared for over a year.”
The Red Menace listens at the porous door and says out loud: “Even though you defended me from my son’s anger, I won’t have any pity. Miran won’t know about it, but I’ll never stop fighting against you!” She turns away and gets one of those good, old Midyat slaps from Sukran. “Who are you? You’re not my Dilsah. Why do you hate Reyyan so much?” RM starts to say her usual incoherent thing: “because she took my son and my daughter, she and Azize…”
Sukran: “Shut up! You ought to be ashamed. You aren’t staying here. You’re going far from Reyyan and back to the village with me.” Dilsah says that will be over her dead body. Sukran: “Even if you don’t’ die, you will be dead to me.”
Hercai - #96 – Parte 2 de 3
Azra tells ReyMir she heard about this doctor in medical school. She’s not sure if he’s crazy or a genius, but he’s a legend because of the lives he’s saved. But he stopped practicing medicine, and no one knows where he is. His name is Duran Avdenis.
Hazard walks in on this discussion and insists that Miran come with him. After Hazard says he’ll wait outside, Reyyan begs Miran not to tell him.
Looks like Miran’s threat of her death the minute Umut is born made an impression on the Old Gasbag [thanks Carmella]. She’s met Cihan somewhere.
Cihan tells her it’s almost spring and calls her consuegra. [I wish we had this word in English. I have to say the father of my daughter-in-law and the mother of my daughter-in-law when describing Bob and Phyllis to someone.] Cihan tells Fusun that the topic of Azat is closed. She tells him he knows what the meeting is about [his siccing Miran on her]. She wants his help. He laughs when she asks him to get Miran off her back. “Why would I help you” She offers to let Yaren go and puts her hand out to shake on a deal.
Hazard lights into his son, saying it was too shameful to say it in front of the others. “I don’t recognize you!” He reminds Miran that he said Azize was dead to him. Miran is justifiably irritated that Hazard followed him. Miran just flat out tells him he went to Azize because he wanted to embrace her. He needed it. Hazard does a Sadoglu meltdown. Miran says that he wanted the woman who held him as a child to tell him everything would be all right.
Hazard keeps on raving. Miran tells him that she raised him and Cihan was right…I’m her grandchild. SLAP! After that Miran just blurts it out: “Reyyan is going to die when she gives birth.”
Azra talks with Reyyan about the mystery doctor, but they don’t get much time because Hazard charges in. “Why didn’t you tell me?” He takes his daughter in his arms and tells her not to have negative thoughts. [Like that’s going to fix things. Reyyan needs to seek out Mahfuz, who will comfort her instead of her having to comfort the Sadoglu babies.]
Cihan refuses to help Fusun. “The enemy of my enemy isn’t always my friend. I won’t help you against Miran, nor will I oppose you. He almost leaves and then turns back: “If you try something with my daughter because I refused you, you know what will happen. [Azra I assume}
Hazard moans and curses fate… yada yada yada. Zehra enters and Reyyan is embraced by them both.
Miran tells Azra the Police Chief [the guy who supervises all those invisible, inept Midyat police] will help find the magic doctor. Azra advises him that, even when they find him, he’s refused to practice even though he was found innocent of what happened.
Azra gets a call from Fusun, and Miran gets huffy, saying he won’t permit anyone who lives in his house to have anything to do with Fusun. The Red Menace is listening. She says to herself that, now she’s free of Fusun [Azra’s bio mother], she just needs to get rid of Reyyan.
Hercai - #96 – Parte 3 de 3
At the Aslanbey konak Firat gives Yaren a cell and tells her he’s put her family’s phone numbers in there. He also tells her she can visit them whenever she likes. Yaren thanks him effusively and Zeynep looks sad. Yaren: “I’m happy you came to live here…(long pause) that you both came to live here."
Reyyan tells Hazard that he told her in the past that God doesn’t give us more than we can bear. When Hazar tells her he’d do whatever she needed, she looks at him seriously and tells him he knows what she wants.
Back in their bedroom Firat notices that Zeynep isn’t that happy. At first she won’t say what’s wrong, but then she says that it’s about his “history with Yaren”. “Why didn’t you tell me?” Firat: “Was it Yaren who told you this?” He goes on to say that he didn’t think it made sense to tell her because there was nothing to it.
Firat tells his wife that he never speaks this way about the people in his life…but Yaren… He doesn’t do a great job of explaining, something about Yaren having plans instead of emotions. But he does say that when she knows Yaren better, she’ll understand. “Nothing happened between us.” [except for her treating you like a rented mule, Firat.] “Don’t let her bother you.” He says that it’s his job to protect everyone here from the garras (claws) of Fusun.
Firat also tells Zeynep that Miran thinks he’s in cahoots with Fusun and he feels badly about it.
Miran cries over the photo album, realizing it wasn’t only for Umut to remember her by. Rey enters and they decide to again sleep on the floor, looking at the projected stars and moon. Rey tells him that, now that he knows, he makes her feel stronger. He asks her not to try to make him imagine a life without her. She says that she’s beginning to believe in miracles. He asks her to sing and she does. She has a lovely voice. But nearly all the songs I’ve heard in dizis seem to be in a minor key and somewhat sad. While she sings, we see other cast members looking at pictures and Handan re-reading Azat’s letter.
Miran is almost asleep, but he gets a call from the Police Chief to say he’s found the man. But the guy has changed his identity and refuses to help anyone. Apparently his own daughter died while he was operating on her.
Azra comes to see Fusun. Fu calls her Gunes and wonders why she hasn’t returned her calls. Azra says she hasn’t been sleeping well because of knowing what Fusun had done. “I know everything; but what I don’t know is how to live with this shame. Miran asked me to decide, either the murderer of babies or the Sadoglu family. Don’t even think I came here to talk for Miran. I came to tell you what I think. I wanted to know from others their opinion of you. You’ve left me without a mother twice, and there won’t be a third time. You are not my mother. I refuse to have a mother like you!” She stalks out.
Fusun immediately tells the Head Goon to get ready to go teach those two what happens to meddlers. "Miran and Cihan will suffer for what just happened."
Cihan and Handan are pleased about Firat’s helping Yaren. Cihan says he’ll give Firat his support on the board. Handan says that now she only has Yaren and Huma. Cihan tells her she wanted it this way (by insisting he not go after Azat). Handan replies that her son wanted it this way.
Azize comes out of Esma’s house, probably on the way to the board meeting and finds Hazar there. “My son…”
Back to the fight. Juan punches Demetrio and disarms him in under two seconds.
Next scene we have Dominga tending to Demetrio’s face wound, while Gabriela scolds Juan for hurting her friend. So what if the guy had a knife? Juan says he almost stabbed him. Demetrio explains he wanted to defend himself, seeing that shadow. Juan points out that Dimi was all prepared, armed with that knife and Dominga confirms that she never allowed him to stay in Don Martin’s room. Dimi says it was his fault to dare go inside, thinking nobody would be sleeping in the room. Gabriela introduces Juan to Dimi, Dimi doesn’t waste the opportunity to try to flatter Juan. But Juan is NOT impressed.
Dimi asks Gabriela for a moment alone, Gabriela says he can talk in front of Juan. But Juan says it’s OK –he’s going to sleep. Gabriela is more than happy to reassure him that this is HIS house and Juan asks Dominga to change the sheets before he can go back to bed LOL.
Alone with Gabriela , Demetrio starts spinning his tangled web of lies: a pipe broke at his house and there is water everywhere. None of his employees explained or helped himfix the problem, those worthless ingrates. Can he stay at her place for a couple of days in the meantime? Sure! No questions asked about not warning her and instead just breaking and entering because Gabriela is THAT gullible.
Juan is having a nightmare about killing Andres and Albin when Dimi wakes him up with a knock at the door. He’s come retrieve his bag and personal stuff, but when Dominga walks in saying someone is here, he goes into defensive mode: “Don’t tell anyone I’m here, don’t open the door! “ Juan asks him to calm down, who’s looking for him? Just some friends who want to see him. Dominga says Juan is the one being asked for, but Dimi still wants to go check.
I thought Norma had come, but it was Andres. She is waiting for Juan sitting at a table, is a plaza. Juan arrives with Andres and goes to see Norma. She asks him to come back home, because she needs him. What about his Rosario mistake? She doesn’t care about that, all she cares about is the two of them! He takes her into his arms and they kiss. All it took was four entire second for these two to reconcile. Glad we didn’t need another 10 episodes to get here.
Andres approaches and Juan reassures him that he loves him just as much as always and to send his apology to Albin. Andres says he loves him like a father. Then Juan and Norma leave.
Don M was happy at the party, he doesn’t want to sleep yet. He’s worried about Norma and Juan, but Quintina tells him Juan called to say they are together, just let them be.
Juan has taken Norma to a romantic setting, prepared by him and his allies in advance. This could only be Andres and Albin, but they must have moved at lightning speed because two scenes ago Juan was in his bed trying to sleep, not preparing romantic love nests. And this place is everything! The flowers, the twinkly lights, the candles, a Jacuzzi! And there is an indoors, too, that got the same treatment.
But for now Norma and Juan are sipping champagne and kissing in the hot water! Later they are inside and it’s ON – making everyone remember THEY are what started the Pasion de Gavilanes frenzy 20 years ago.
It’s early morning and the workers are cleaning the mess of last night’s party. JD is worried about his parents, but Quintina reassures him – Juan said they were reconciling.
Gabriela and Dimi are having breakfast and she ask about his house, she can help clean the water with her workers. But no, Dimi says she’s already done too much, maybe she’s bothered by his presence? No, certainly not, but what happened to his face, it looks like a scratch! Oh, it was his mom’s cat. Gabriela looks disturbed by this explanation and the filming of the scene make it even creepier (like every other scene in this so called telenovela). Dimi would like to visit Sarita one of these days, Gabriela just smiles, is she getting scared of him, finally?? One can only wish…
Adan is working when he spots Juan and Norma come back home together, holding hands, kissing and it’s the best image ever – for us, because he’s furious.
He tells his friend that the infeliz patron is back and together with his Normita, he didn’t even allow him the time to put his plan in motion. What plan? He can’t say yet!
JD greets his parents and hugs them both, saying he loves them! Then he calls for his brothers to share the good news.
Jimena is in bed remembering her last talk with Duvan and how he got upset over her accusations. Bertha wants to bring her breakfast, Jimena says no and asks for Oscar. But he left early on his horse.
Oscar has come to see Romina, asking her to move out. They start getting violent, but Duvan comes out and asks them to stop fighting. Oscar asks Romina not to scare the child, she accuses him of wanting to throw them out. Oscar asks Duvan if he would like to live in a nicer place, with a better school and friends. Romina says she wants a ranch, like his. Duvan asks them to stop fighting again and Oscar asks him to go to his room.
Then he tells Romina he will get her the house she wants, but she can’t keep living here. Romina dares him to throw her out. And he can even tell Jimena the truth if he wants. Oscar says that he will, Romina is the only one who will lose everything on the long run.
Then he wants to leave, but Madrina arrives to smooth things over. She tells Romina she should listen to Oscar’s offer of a new house and then tries to convince him not to get to upset because of Romina’s stubbornness. Oscar asks her to mind her own business. Madrina says she knows everything and agrees with him – she can convince Romina, but she needs time. She will help him, keep him up to date on everything that is happening.
After Oscar is gone Madrina goes back to Romina who is pouting on her bed. She tells her that a house in San Marcos and a fixed income for Duvan are not such a bad deal, she should take it. But Romina only wants to be the lady of the big house.
Norma comes with coffee for Juan, but he’s napping on their bed. So she calls Jimena, happy to tell her that she and Juan are back together and she just lived the greatest night of her life with him. Jimena is happy for her sister, but confused by Oscar’s behavior. He’d said he wanted to rest today, but disappeared early in the morning.
At the breakfast table, Don M is happy Juan is back where he belongs. Juan is happy Norma saved him, too, especially seeing who lives at Gabriela’s now. Don M is upset over the whole thing and Juan doesn’t trust Dimi, either. And here comes Gabriela with Juan’s clothes. Don M remarks that now the room Juan was sleeping in must be for Dimi, who she likes so much. Gabriela admits this much, she’s helping her dear friend while his house is under water.
Dimi is happy, telling Roman on the phone he’s doing great at Gabriela’s place. But it’s temporary, until the danger disappears.
Rosario is searching for Muriel in her room, but the girl has gone to meet JD in town. They kiss hello and decide to go somewhere to be alone. Their secret place? Vamos!
Rosario is upset Muriel left without warning, and she knows who she’s with. She won’t allow it, she’s going to the Reyes ranch immediately. Gunther asks her to be good, she will get into trouble with those people. Rosario is not very concerned, she thinks Juan is still away. She will talk to Norma, start her battle against her only daughter. She only has one card left to play and she will.
Juan thanks Gabriela for welcoming him. Gabriela was happy to be there for him, they love each other a lot. Juan says he’s worried because of Dimi’s presence, she thinks he’s allowing Don M to influence him. But no, Juan asks her to listen to him! That man pretends to be normal, but he’s weird. Could he be aggressive? He did have a knife on him! Gabriela thinks the poor guy had just woken up, it was self-defense. And what about his reaction when Norma came to search for him, saying that people are following him. Gabriela thinks Juan is being unjust.
Madrina is still trying to convince Romina to forget about being with Oscar. She could have helped her, but with the way she is behaving, she will never be able to get a man, any man. And be careful, she can also lose Duvan, Oscar will take him away one of these days. Romina throws Madrina out, Madrina says she will go back to her house in San Marcos – her grandchild Pedro is back and has money, he will help her. Romina warns Madrina not to give up on her witching job and don’t trust this Pedro too much.
Adan doesn’t want to go drink with his friends, he has things to do around the ranch. He mounts a horse and is about to leave when Rosario arrives in her sparkling red car. She parks in front of the stables, like she usually does and Adan asks her what she’s doing here, where she’s not welcomed. She says she’s not here to fight or look for JD or for Juan. She wants to talk to Norma.
Norma is with the twins at the table when Adan asks her to talk to him in private. Rosario is back, he has no clue what she wants, can she receive her?
Dominga is moving around furniture in the room, Demetrio asked her to change the room again, with things found in a different place. Gabriela doesn’t get why he’s doing this, but she’d not bothered by it, since nobody is using those things (Geez!!). Dominga is upset she has to do it all alone, she didn’t even have the time to prepare food. Gabriela is upset Dominga is not faster, she appears to be a bit thrown off by Dimi’s behavior, but it’s not for this that she will do anything to put him in his place. Dominga adds that he has a lot of dirty clothes to wash. Gabriela thinks they need to help him, it’s normal his clothes were dirty because of the problems at his house. Dominga insists he’s just too much work, Gabriela asks her to respect Dimi, he’s a good man and a gentleman. And hurry with the furniture. Whatever good will Gabriela was winning the last few days, she’s lost in this one scene.
Norma, followed by Adan, has come to see Rosario, how dare she come back? Rosario wants some privacy, Norma has no problem going to the stables, Rosario’s favorite visiting place. Hehe!
JD and Muriel are by the lake. Muriel is happy his parents are back together, he says they love one another a lot. They’re kissing when a guy from the ranch asks them to come to lunch.
Norma asks Rosario what is her purpose? She fought with her husband and her kids, what now? Rosario says she didn’t want to cause problems. Norma points out they were all doing fine before she came around with her demands and whims. Rosario says JD is not a whim for her. Why is Norma so bothered by their relationship? Norma says JD doesn’t love her, SHE is the one harassing him. Rosario says even so, nobody can stop her from fighting for his love, especially since he’s involved with someone who is forbidden for him. Norma doesn’t get what she’s talking about, Rosario accuses her of covering for JD – where is he and his latest conquest?
Juan and the twins arrive to confront Rosario, too. She’s not impressed with the big united family, but notices someone is missing. Yeah, Juan says, JD is with the woman HE chose for himself. Yeah, but that woman is my daughter, Rosario blurts out!
Honestly at this point between Rosario,Romina,Adan and Demetrio I don’t whose craziness is out of this world...I’m exhausted.
Gabriela’s gullibility has me feeling so sorry for her. She’s doing the same thing she did with Fernando who wasn’t even a psychopath with demented Demetrio!!! Seriously how can one’s sense of judgement be so clouded.
And Romina...chick is just a lazy and bitter woman, wanting to reap where she hasn’t sown. You want to be like Jimena so badly?? Get a job, be kind to people, work hard...how about that? I totally agree with her Madrina on how she behaves around men...how will any man be attracted to such behavior.
I had a real WTF moment seeing Rosario at the Reyes asking for JD...wtf!!!! Rosario!!! How dare she come to the family of the guy she’s obviously sexually harassing and hounding and demand to see him??? Who does that??!!! I don’t believe in violence but at this point I just wished somebody could slap some sense into her head. Where is Samuel Caballero when you need him...he better head to San Marcos and check his wife.
Now based on her attitude I feel she doesn’t really love Muriel...having her was just to secure her husband’s money...idk if I’m wrong here but that’s how it looks like to me.
Guess we can all agree I was super right last week when I predicted a reconciliation between Juan and Norma pretty soon and we had the pleasure of witnessing in this episode...yaaaaayyyyyy
Also how long will it take for Norma to fire Adan...dude is dangerous.
Thank you for your amazing recap, Adriana!
I was happy to see Norma and Juan reconciling, but I think the writers would have built it better. It seemed as if Norma randomly changed her mind about the whole thing. What I think they should have done is make Norma change her mind about LISTENING what Juan had to say and make Juan persuade her to let him come back.
Gabriela is SO ANNOYING! She should open her eyes a bit and see who Demetrio really is!
Rosario is just... I have no words.
MaameAdwoa (and the other person who said this in a previous post), I agree, Norma should just fire Adán. What is she waiting for?
Adriana, another fun episode and another fantastic recap! I love reading your reactions mixed in with the retelling and I love 'Dimi'! Instead of being short for Demetrio it's long for dim! I am totally adopting that one!!!!
I think the romantic getaway was a 'glamping' site. It's like camping but with all the luxuries like a furnished 'tent' instead of the typical tent you have to pitch to sleep on the floor and a steamy Jacuzzi! That was definitely a romantic reunion!
Did anyone notice how Juan was wearing all black when he was separated and the day he comes home he puts on white??? LOL It probably doesn't mean anything but I noticed and thought it was funny.
I think Gabriela might have little nuggets of doubt about Dimi. She looked like she was considering Juan's words, and like you said, you looked down right uncomfortable with the cat story. I think she was also considering Dominga's words more than she was willing to admit. She is just too damn prideful to actually admit she might be wrong!!!! Which I totally don't get, because as I've said many times if I had made the mistakes in judgment Gabriela has made in my past, I'd be afraid to buy a pair of shoes without getting someone else's opinion!!!
This episode continued the mismatch in weather appropriate clothing. Is it cold there? Or is it hot??? Enquiring minds want to know! Adan is outside chopping wood with his shirt off and 2 seconds later JD is bounding down the stairs in his down jacket (or maybe fur-lined? I am not sure what the right description is). Later JD is still in said pretty heavy looking jacket, when Muriel arrives in very thin looking skin baring shirt and pants with no coat or jacket... It drives me crazy and it probably shouldn't because I know for the most part they are keeping the actors scantily clad to appeal to the audience but if you are going to do that, don't have conversations about it being so cold you could freeze to death and don't put some of the cast in heavy coats while the rest of the cast is half undressed! Speaking of, I really hope it is actually warm there and those poor people aren't freezing during filming.
MaameAdwoa - I actually do think Rosario loves Muriel. It's just in a very sick way because this is one very sick woman. She isn't a mentally healthy clicking on all cylinders and choosing to oppose her own daughter villain. She's a mentally broken, sickly obsessed, crazy, irrational and desperate woman who is badly in need of help!
And I still think that's sad. Weirdo said it awhile ago and I agree, Rosario would have been a much better character if she'd come back on top of her game instead of slowly unraveling. If she'd been redeemed and healthy and kind or at least not crazy! It'd be a lot more interesting to get to know the woman who'd made plenty of mistakes in her past but had overcome them and matured than it is to see the once a villain now an even sicker villain cliché. But that's what we have been given, so, sigh.
Many thanks, novelera, for this splendid recap! And I greatly enjoyed your snarky comments, such as "the Police Chief [the guy who supervises all those invisible, inept Midyat police]" and "'Nothing happened between us.'[except for her treating you like a rented mule, Firat.]" I agree with you that Firat did a surprisingly lame job of explaining the Yellow Centipede to Zeynep.
And WTF--why is Reyyan lying to Miran about when Dilsah knew? She thinks everything will be fine if she just makes nice? Arrgh!
Perhaps my ears were corrupted by my annoyance with Reyyan, but I didn't care for her singing this time. For one thing, it definitely sounded recorded (which, of course, it was), and IMHO it went on for too long.
It looks as if they've identified the perfect dizi doctor to treat Reyyan, one who can keep everyone on edge about his competence.
I greatly appreciated your "Hazard moans and curses fate… yada yada yada." He has become almost unbearable to watch and listen to. (Even though Miran wasn't raised by Hazar, the two of them share a tendency toward the "Sadoglu meltdown." A genetic trait?) It will be interesting to see whether Hazar responds as usual to Azize's "hijo mio."
Again, thanks VERY much, novelera!
I apologize for not responding to your comment, VVS. Thank you very much! I also hope that I'll do many recaps. I should definitely read one of yours on Hercai some time :)
Terrific recap novelera! I was so entertained with your use of all the nick names and references (porous doors) we have had to come up with for all these crazy people, Yellow Centipede, Old Gas Bag and I loved the Red Menace! Wow, Sukran sure did wallop a good smack on her cray cray daughter.
I was pleasantly surprised that the drama from Miran and Hazar wasn’t as over the top as I was expecting. Give Miran a mission, he is good at getting his way. I am sure he will be able to convince the hermit doctor to come back to medicine and save Reyyan.
Firat has been a pleasant surprise. I like how he really is taking the role of head Aslanbey man (granted, the rest are dead or crispy) to heart. I had to laugh when the guard dude ran to open the car door for him and then proceeded to drive Firat around. How things have changed. Yaren, Yaren, can you be more predictable. I think Zeynep is secure and smart enough to see through the Yellow hazed smoke screen.
Is Hazar there to yell at Azize or is he there to make amends as Reyyan seemed to intimate in their discussion?
Thanks again novelera for making the recap fun! We have to do something to get through to the end.
Adriana-thank you for the detailed recap.
My tv burst into flames when Norma and Juan were making up..lol.
As you said, it did bring back memories of the old days with those two. ;)
Beth S.
I’m caught up and I can get Telemundo where I am at the moment. Thanks to Juanita, VVS and novelera for the excellent Tues, Weds, Thurs recaps.
It was an awful Me-ran meltdown extravaganza. His beloved is dying, and he cries for himself. The Azize/Miran scene was only slightly better for me. A grown man crying like a toddler on his grannie’s lap. I just can’t stand Miran. Akın is outclassed by Ayda Aksel.
novelera, Fusun is the new Wicked Witch of this fairy tale, taking over from Azize. Red Menace Dilsah—LOL.
Susanlynn, I’m with you. Engin Akyürek specializes in playing the flawed galan that you end up loving. Burak Özçivit makes one mighty fine galan, too. There are lots of other handsome and talented Turkish actors out there. In fairness to Akın, I think the writers and director are not helping his performance either.
I’ll do my best to get some sort of recap up for Friday’s show, might only be a quickie.
Seni çok bekledim Sancar Efe! You know I will be there! #SanMel. Since this is on UniMas, where can we recap and comment?
Thank you Adriana for the great recap! I enjoyed the episode and now I see why everyone was so thrilled 20 years ago with the Juan and Norma “interactions.” That was quite the romantic scene. It was nice that Andres was the one who brought them together, or at least drove Norma.
It is unfortunate that Gabriela fell right back into the Demetrio lies. Cat scratch my como se llama! Sounds like she has been gullible all her life. Juan has his number for sure. Poor Dominga! I felt bad that she was having to move furniture around and wash filthy, smelly clothes.
I am confused by summer/winter costumes as well Darcy. That fur lined coat of JD is so out of place with the other outfits or shirtless style.
Rosi cares only about herself. Why else would she leave Muriel and move to San Marcos? Narcissistic people only pretend to love you.
Thanks again Adriana!
Novelera, great job of reporting all the threats and crying.
Goodgranis my fav . After years of grievibv for her wonderful Dilsah , she now has to deal with damaged , crazy, nasty Dilly.
O T..Dondi, Amor Eterno reruns on Uni are almost at the finale, and I have become a big fan of Burak. I only watched some of Kurulus Osman so I will get back to that sometime .
I checked out the new season of La Hija , and it looks pretty good , so I am looking forward to watching it on Unimas. Safe travels, amiga.
I am seeing promos for Cennet, to run in the daytime. I set up a recording and will take a look. I remember dondi and Juanita watching and recapping.
I suppose the replacement for Hercai will be the comedy Hasta que La Plata Nos Separe. Haven't there been several novelas with titles that are similar? I don't think I've seen any of them. Some of them have dinero in place of plata. Mr. Google tells me the one with the latter word was made in Colombia.
Dondi, you singlehandedly recapped Fatmagul, and we had comments here on Telemundo, even though it ran on UniMas. I can't see why we can't do the same here at the Telemundo page, if it won't be featured on the Uni pages.
I think one reason it was appropriate to post recaps and comments about Fatmagül on Telemundo when it was being shown on UniMas is that it had originally been shown on Telemundo. Is that also true of La Hija?
NOVELERA.......MAGIC FINGERS...cause the J.O.B[had me-running-for-a-minute]..thankfully you ,Put-me-down-on-the '411'...!!
YES..MOMMA SUHKRUN ..Slap the -Taste-outta-DiLL-Pickles -mouth!! and pulled her ears..for good measure....

HHAZAR Responded to the Umut news like the true human being he is...it was all ABOUT REYYAN... she her her she and her again...NEVER ABT HIM ONE TIME!!!!!

Season 2 Episode 39 – Friday – Part 1 of 4
Rosi announces that if the Reyes don’t want to have a problem with her, they need to stay away from Muriel! She isn’t going to let JD play them both as if they were puppets!!! (LOL) Norma says they aren’t at all sure JD ever had anything to do with Rosi and if he’s dating Muriel, they don’t know anything about it. Juan chimes in saying but if it is true, we won’t oppose it! Muriel is very charming, the twins (who look very amused by this conversation) say yes very! Norma too says she likes Muriel and she’d be very happy if she was with JD. Rosario is not pleased her plan didn’t work and she says that’s a problem because I completely oppose it and I won’t allow it! Leon says that’s because you are after JD and Eric says you are a very beautiful woman, but isn’t it beneath you to compete with your daughter?
Muriel thanks JD for lunch and he asks about things with her mom. Muriel says it depends on her and mom, things could explode at any moment. JD says we’ll have to be alert then, but Muriel says it’s between her and mom, she doesn’t want to cause him problems. JD doesn’t want to leave her alone in this, he would die if something happened to her! Muriel wants to know what exactly JD is worried about happening and he says he doesn’t know but Rosi is very aggressive she could hurt her.
Rosi thinks her feelings are just as valid as everyone else’s and no one can stop her from fighting for JD’s love, no one! Norma says yes, but that doesn’t give you the right to harass him! You’re harassing my son; don’t you understand that? Rosi comes unglued and grabs and shakes Norma and says ‘You’re the one who doesn’t understand!!!’ Juan immediately steps between the two women and Eric goes ‘whoa whoa whoa’ (It’s less amusing now) Norma says whatever goes on between JD and Muriel it’s their choice to make, they have to decide; it has nothing to do with us. Rosi says that’s not true because when it comes to Muriel her father has the final say (What decade is this??) and she can’t date or get engaged or get married without his approval!! (Weird that she would go straight to engagement and marriage for a relationship that has just begun and she claims is just a whim) Juan has had enough, he asks Rosi nicely to leave and tells her if she doesn’t leave quietly, he will have her barred from entering the ranch. The twins smile broadly and Rosi leaves, but as she goes, she warns that they should keep JD away from Muriel for his own safety!
Rosi approaches Adan and calls him a guard, he corrects her and asks what he can do for her. Rosi offers him lots of money to tell her where JD is. Adan wishes he could help but he has no idea where JD is…Juan walks out and asks if Adan has anything better to do on his day off and Rosi quickly gets in the car and leaves.
JD asks Muriel to promise to be vigilant and she promises. He says he’ll always be with her and she thinks that would make her the happiest woman in the world.
Poor Dominga is still trying to organize the chaos Dimi created when he walks in with two bouquets of flowers! (Wonder who they are for) He asks if the room is made up how he likes it. She says yes and he asks for Gabriela. Dominga says she’s upstairs and Dimi just looks at her. Oh right, yeah, I’ll go get her (eyes rolling) Dominga goes off in search of Gabriela and Dimi goes to check out his lair. It seems to be passing inspection and then Gabriela shows up and it seems both bouquets are for her! What an unlucky woman! Dimi spews more stupid lies about how impossible it is to fix his nonexistent house and Gabriela gathers she’s not getting rid of him anytime soon; but it’s worse than that, this cad is asking Gabriela for money!!! He’s embarrassed and all that of course, but he needs a loan…poor stupid Gabriela says ‘yes, of course, how much do you need?’
Season 2 Episode 39 – Friday – Part 2 of 4
Adan is riding though the fields (or forest) when he encounters Duvan. He starts asking a bunch of questions about who lives in that cottage but Duvan says nothing and tries to leave. Adan grabs his arm and informs him he is going to answer his questions, the easy way or the hard way! He threatens to take his horse whip and break his ankles!!! Romina does her first (and probably only) good deed of the series and shows up with a gun to defend her son! She tells Duvan to go home and orders Adan to stay away, she doesn’t want to this bastard and his filthy nosy self around them again. If she sees him again, she will shoot him.
Eric and Leon are discussing the Muriel and JD pairing and they are annoyed that JD beat them to Muriel. Leon even suggests JD might have run Muriel over on purpose to get an in! (LOL) But more reasonable Eric says no way, it’s JD, he wouldn’t do that. Eric, however, doesn’t understand what all these women see in his older brother!!! They both admit they are jealous and they can’t imagine having to see Muriel and JD together. Not one to stay on a down note for very long, Eric brightens up and mentions the best part of this is how they found out that scene with Rosi was epic! Unfortunately, the cheer-up is short-lived as Leon’s phone starts ringing…it’s the extortionist. (The look on Leon’s face was so horrified it was almost comical. He looked like he was waiting for his phone to come alive and attack!)
JD and Muriel are leaving their secret getaway and the caretaker tells them to come back soon. He says ‘Congratulations!’ and they don’t know why. JD helps her into the truck and stays starring at her. She asks why he is looking at her like that and he says he doesn’t know but he could stare at her forever. She says she could stay in a place like this forever and JD suggests they live there (He is inviting himself to move into someone else’s house with his girlfriend??) Muriel agrees yes, if we are together. They kiss passionately.
Leon looks like he’s practically in a fugue state and the boys are now in his room waiting for the phone to ring again. It does, and the mystery voice reminds them they only have four days left to give him the money or the video will be all over social media!! Leon wants to know when their nightmare will end and Eric says not until he leaves us in peace, we are in his hands.
Back at Rosi’s nuthouse, Muriel arrives home and Gunter advises her she better say alone to mama, she’s been waiting all day. Muriel runs into Rosi and they have the same conversation about house rules for telling mommy where you are at all times. Rosi says they will have dinner together tonight and Muriel tries to say she isn’t hungry but Rosi doesn’t care, she will see her at dinner!
Romina’s good will is gone!!! She takes advantage of the opportunity to tell Duvan that the man who attacked him was probably sent by Oscar and Jimena!! Duvan doesn’t think his dad would do that but Romina says that witch Jimena probably made him! She continues the daddy is evil and Jimena is evil dialogue until Duvan flees. He doesn’t want to eat, he’s not hungry either; but Romina warns him not to act up! He WILL hate Jimena Elizondo and never visit her again!! (This chick is seriously deranged!! It would be crazy and wrong to hate Jimena this much if she had been the other woman for years and Oscar was stringing her along, but to have this much hatred toward Jimena after a one-night stand is unhinged to the nth degree!!!) She is planning to go visit Jimena and scare the hell out of her!
Season 2 Episode 39 – Friday – Part 3 of 4
Muriel went to dinner but refused to eat. She asks how Rosi’s day was. Boring, Rosi says, she just went for a ride. Muriel says she loves her mom a lot and she’d like to get along better. Rosi says that would be nice but for that you need empathy and need to have consideration for the other person! I wonder if it occurs to her, she has no consideration whatsoever for her own daughter, but she says she does! In Rosi land, Rosi has all the consideration in the world for Muriel but Muriel has none for her!! Muriel asked what she could do better. Rosi grabs Muriel’s hand (that grip looks painful) and tells her she has no idea what she is capable of as a mother. She would face anything for her daughter. Muriel asks her to be more specific and Rosi claims she cares for and protects her daughter without reproaches and admonishments! (LOL LOL LOL) Muriel points out her mom is hurting her and she pretends she didn’t notice, backing off with an apology.
The twins have turned to Tio Oscar again because they are not bright. They first tell him about Rosi’s performance in the stables and then the bad news of the new call. They can’t talk long because Quintina is calling them to dinner and Oscar is with Jimena, but they agree to meet after dinner. Jimena wants to know if Oscar is going out and he says yes, he has to go see them in a neutral place so Juan doesn’t witness him leading them astray. She asks where he was that morning, and he tells her he went to the shack and told them to leave immediately! Jimena is alarmed, she didn’t mean to get Duvan kicked out or his home!!!
At the Juan Reyes dinner table, everyone is gathered, except Don Martin – who’s asleep, and JD – who hasn’t returned home yet. Juan thinks all the long faces are for Rosi’s visit and he doesn’t want them to let that woman affect them. On cue, JD arrives making a joke about how it’s a miracle the ‘senoritas’ (his brothers) are joining us for dinner! I don’t know why he said ‘us’ though, since he claims he isn’t hungry either and isn’t planning to eat. Norma is just happy to see her oldest but the twins can give as good as they get and when JD tries to tell some story about being busy with work all day, they let him know they know exactly who he was busy with; Muriel Cabellero! JD looks a little alarmed even though no one in the family did or said anything to make him think it was a problem. Juan even calls for a bottle of good wine so they can celebrate the good news!!
Duvan asks about Madrina and Romina says she doesn’t think she will be there because she has her grandson now and she’s happy about that, plus she’s mad at Romina! (I personally hope she comes back soon because as weird as she is at least she watches out for Duvan) Romina is getting ready to go out and Duvan tries to ask about it but he gets mom’s wrath and gets sent to bed. Romina is out the door and headed off on foot. (I may or may not have thought that it would be okay if she accidentally ran into Dimi out in the woods and Duvan got a better mother)
Duvan is laying in bed and thinking back on his last conversation with Jimena. He also thinks of Oscar’s fight with Romina and you have to wonder if he’s considering Romina’s words. Jimena is devastated about what Oscar has done and that Duvan is going to think it’s her fault. She wants to run over there right now and talk to them but Berta convinces her to wait for Oscar. Jimena says she is going to talk to Oscar and tell him about her friendship with Duvan and tomorrow first thing she will go to talk to them.
Romina did not run into Dimi, she made it all the way to her goal and she pulls a black cloak out of her bag and slips it over her head. This thing is hooded and she looks creepier than Gunter in it!!! She runs off to break into Jimena’s house again.
Season 2 Episode 39 – Friday – Part 4 of 4
Back at Hacienda de Juan, JD looks way too nervous to knock on his parent’s door considering he’s the golden son, but knock he does, and Norma answers wondering what’s wrong. Something is keeping him awake and it might seem dumb but he didn’t want to ask in front of the twins. He needs to know how they found out about his relationship with Muriel. Norma wonders if he’s upset that they found out and he says no but he’d like to have been the one to tell them. They would have liked that too. Juan tells him Rosario Montes told them and JD is not happy, naturally.
Rosi is drinking and thinking back to that time she basically raped JD, she rushes out of her room in a determined huff.
Norma warns JD that he and Muriel won’t have an easy time of it with a psycho like Rosi on the loose. (No, she didn’t call her a psycho, I did) Juan says it will be complicated but not impossible and Norma agrees. If JD and Muriel are in this together and they are both willing to fight for their relationship, if they love each other and want to be together, Norma and Juan will give them all their support. JD thanks her and says yes, they are very serious and committed to fighting for their relationship. Juan (who is reading a magazine very nonchalantly throughout this whole conversation) is surprised they are sure so quickly; they barely know each other. JD asks if his dad doesn’t trust in them and Juan asks if he can be honest, JD agrees. Juan says he’s met a lot of JD’s girlfriends but he would be particularly happy if JD worked things out with Muriel because he’s never met one so charming! He thinks she’s special and suited for JD! JD is very happy to hear it. He isn’t going to let anyone come between them, not Rosi and not that father of Muriel’s that he hasn’t met yet.
Rosi sneaks into a sleeping Muriel’s room and almost grabs her phone but she wakes up. Rosi claims she was just watching her daughter sleep because she’s worried about her. She’s worried she could get hurt by trusting the wrong person. Muriel thanks her, but she knows who to trust. Rosi asks: ‘You aren’t going to leave him?’ and Muriel says ‘No’! Rosi kissed Muriel’s cheek and gets up to leave, pretending to have an afterthought she gives her JD’s college ID and tells her to give it back to him! He might need it! He left it there one of the MANY times he came to visit Rosi!!! (#*%#*%) Muriel looks unsure and concerned…
Creepy hooded Romina is stalking up closer and closer to the house and she quickly digs the keys out and enters. Jimena hears the door shut and thinks it’s Berta but Berta is in her room. Berta convinces her that nerves are getting the best of her and to go to bed.
Oscar and the twins are in a bar, and this discussion has made no progress. Oscar still wants to go to the cops; the boys are still against it. They can’t pay the money because they don’t have it and even if they did the guy could just keep asking for more and more money. They need another solution! They need to figure out who it is so they can confront him! They have to set a trap.
Romina is still stalking around with a knife and she gets to Jimena’s room (Oscar should be at home protecting his wife from this nutcase instead of out having the same pointless discussion with his nephews) Romina goes into the bathroom and pours something out on a rag, but is careless and drops her keys and knife on the floor. This wakes Jimena, who begins a slow walk back to the bathroom door. She opens…and sees nothing! Romina is creeping up behind her and she places the chloroformed (?) rag over Jimena’s mouth and nose. Jimena struggles and tries to scream but the sound is muffled. Romina drags her over to the bed with the rag still firmly in place.
And on that horrifying note, the episode ends.
This will be a short one, so please add where necessary. I took some things directly from the Turkish.
Hazar sits with Azize. She starts the conversation. I know you are here because Reyyan asked. If you want, she says, we will sit and be silent. If you want, then speak. Say whatever is in your heart. I am you mother, and I will accept it. Hazar says, all my life I’ve always followed my heart and not my head. I always weighed, what’s right, what’s wrong. I did the best I could, and you were on the side of evil. It was so hard, and I directed all my hatred and anger towards you. But I’m here now because my children’s wellbeing always come first in my heart.
Yes, I’m here because Reyyan asked me, Hazar admits. And now, if I were to get up, hug you and speak the words I haven’t be able to say, hear from you what I never heard, would it erase everything that happened? So many years. Will they come back? Would the fire in my heart die out? Would I be able to erase the memory of Nazli Sadoglu? If my lips said “mother”, would my heart follow?
Azize is grateful he is even considering it. Hazar says he will continue to try for Reyyan’s sake. I’ll try to see you as my father does, as Ayse, the love of his life. Azize gets up to sit next to her son and reaches out to stroke his hair. I’m starting to believe in miracles, and you should too, she tells him. Reyyan will get better. Hope will keep us strong. That will be our miracle. [for me, this was the best scene in the episode]
Rey wakes up alone and makes a call to her husband. He tells her he didn’t want to wake her. He had a work emergency. Miran gets directions to Dr. Turan’s house.
Out on the patio, Rey confides to Azra that something is going on with Miran and she hopes it’s nothing bad. Sukran comes out with her bag packed. She’s decided to head back to her village. There are too many people and it gives her a headache. [I guess she’s tired of Me-ran’s screaming. And she should take that other headache called Dilsah with her] She makes Rey and Azra promise to visit. And she gives Reyyan her amulet. I hope it keeps you and your baby safe, she says. Good bye, Good Grannie. Hoşça kal.
Miran arrives at Dr Turan’s. He explains his situation and makes his case, telling Turan he knows what happened with his daughter. He asks Turan to come to Midyat. I know if you come with me, my wife and son will be fine. Turan says he can’t help. He starts to walk and Miran shoves Reyyan’s diary into his hands. Read it, Miran implores, and don’t just read it with your eyes. You did everything to save your daughter and now I’m doing the same. Let me save my wife and son. If you choose not to join me, you will be ending three lives. Turan looks affected by Miran’s words. We don’t get an answer.
Hazar arrives at Hopeless Mansion and surprises everyone when Azize gets out of the car. My Ayse, Nasuh laughs. And he is very grateful to Reyyan for facilitating this. May God let you watch your son grow up, he tells her. May God not take you away from us, kızım. Hazar adds, let Him take it from me, and give to my daughter. Don’t say that, Rey replies. [yeah, don’t say that]
Cihan shows up to put a damper on this reconciliation. He accuses them of sheltering the enemy. He won’t forget what Azize has done and he won’t rest until she has paid for it all. You’ll see, he tells them. And with that he heads off to the Sad konak. The rest of the Sadoglus with Azize head through the Hopeless door and there’s the very displeased Red Menace (thanks, novelera) standing on the balcony watching.
Rey is in her room trying to get in touch with Miran and he’s not answering his phone. There’s a knock at the door. It’s Azize. She breaks into a sob as she embraces Reyyan. They sit to talk. Azize acknowledges that Rey has done so many good things, including showing “kindness to someone who has hurt you so much”. You reunited Miran with his mother and reunited me with my beloved son. You have to be with your son, Azize sobs, I’ve been praying for you.
Rey bolsters Azize. Where is the Azize who makes the ground shake when she walks? I’m still that Azize for the wicked ones who mess with my family, the woman formerly known as HAG replies, but for my new granddaughter, I am the weak, tearful Ayse. Rey wipes a tear from Azize’s face. Don’t cry, this will pass too, Rey tells her. It will, Azize smiles hopefully, we will dry our tears soon.
Azize heads down to the dinner table on the patio, where the others are already seated. Rey follows shortly after. She still can’t get through to Miran. She’s getting worried. Hazar wants to try calling but Nasuh calls for calm and wants everyone to start dinner. You don’t know how long I have dreamed of sitting at a table like this one, he tells everyone. Mom, dad, son, DIL, grandchildren. Let’s enjoy our family dinner, he says with a huge smile. [I fear this could be as good as it gets]
The Bad Toupee is complaining to Handan. Hazar was the last sane one, he says, but that’s over now. Azize and Miran have the family eating out of their hands as if nothing ever happened. Handan reasons Azize is Hazar’s mother, who else would he side with? Cihan continues, Miran is to blame for what’s happened. He’s collecting new pawns for his games.
Aren’t you tired, Handan asks, haven’t you had enough? We lost our son because of your hatred and anger. I’d do anything to have him here. It’s all because of your stubbornness. Cihan doesn’t want to hear it, but Handan still has something to say. We lost Azat, let’s protect Yaren and move on. The rest is unimportant. Let Azize and Miran do what they want. Stay out of trouble. I only care about my daughter. Ok, I’ll handle it , Cihan replies, don’t worry. [start worrying]
Hazar shows up at the Sad konak. He invites Cihan to take a walk and have an honest talk. Cihan declines the offer. Hazar tells him there are things he doesn’t know. Come with me, he asks his brother. I know enough, Cihan responds. Miran is your son, Azize is your mother, but they are nothing to me. I only see them as enemies. They started a fire inside me and I will burn them with this fire. I won’t die without getting my revenge. This saddens Hazar and Cihan walks away.
Fusun asks Halit if everything is ready. We’re all set, he replies, just give the word.
Hazar returns and adds more hopelessness to the Hopeless Mansion. Cihan refused to listen to him.
Miran arrives home. He greets everyone and goes to wash up. Rey follows and asks if anything is wrong. No, he says, I’m just a little tired. He gives Rey a little kiss on the cheek, and she gets embarrassed because someone might notice. [Good grief, you’re married!] Don’t know for sure but it seems Turan turned Miran down.
Later, teary Miran is sitting out by the rooftop swing, thinking back to ReyMir’s the recent visit to the bridge and Rey asking him to “save us.” There’s only one way to save your lives, he says out loud to himself. Rey comes up to see him. He tells her, Reyyan… we have to go through with the abortion. She’s shocked and upset. You promised you’d do everything so we could have our baby, she tells him. [she still believes in Miran’s promises?]
I’d give my heart so we could have our son, but… I can’t give you up. She pushes him away and shouts, this isn’t an abortion! It’s murder! Call it what it is! Don’t do this, he pleads. Rey can’t understand why he is giving up on their son. We can get through anything together, she says. You made a promise, you’ll find a way. She takes his hand and places it on her stomach. Can you feel him, she asks? Our son is moving. I haven’t given up and he hasn’t either. We can’t give up, she cries.
Cut to Fusun setting fire to the Umut Foundation.
Asiye and Lutfu rush to alert ReyMir. There is a tragedy! The Foundation building is burning! Rey wants to go with Miran but he makes her stay behind. Not much anyone can do, the building seems like a total loss. The cops [yes, there are police in Midyat!] find an empty gas can nearby and pronounce it’s arson. Do you have enemies, a cop asks, is anyone out to get you? [lol] Hazar thinks back to Cihan’s “I’ll burn them” vow. Miran thinks back to Cihan conferring enemy status on him.
And here it comes, Caraymates. Miran bursts into the Sad konak shouting for Cihan and Cihan walks right into a Miran knuckle sandwich.
Firat gets a call about the Foundation and heads off, leaving a gloating Fusun out on the patio. The bigger fire will occur in the Sadoglu family, she smirks.
Back to the Miran – Cihan slugfest. Roaches from both konaks come rushing in to break up the fight. Miran shouts arson accusations at Cihan, which he vehemently denies. Nasuh and Hazar pile it on Cihan as well. There’s a lot of shouting back and forth. Cihan says if he was the one who set fire to the building, he would have made sure Miran was inside. That earns a slap from Nasuh. Azize pleads with Nasuh to stop and listen to his son. Cihan storms off. Handan shouts, you should be ashamed!
Rey holds an icepack on Miran’s bruised face. He’s still riled up and in revenge mode, threatening to kill Cihan. Rey tries in vain to calm her husband. Who else could have done it, he asks? Rey thinks if Cihan did it he would have admitted it. What will you do, Rey asks, challenge him to a duel? [hmm… we haven’t seen one of those yet]
Rey tries to get Miran back on track to what is really important. My life is in danger! What about our son? She reminds him of his promise to save Umut. You can’t keep getting into fistfights. You can’t go on thinking an eye for an eye. Put an end to this for our son, for me, for us. He pulls her into a hug and tells her she is right. He makes another promise he likely won’t keep—from now on I’ll focus on you and our son. And we will rebuild the Foundation together.
The rest of the family plus Azra, Firat and Zeynep sit around discussing the fire. Hazar is still blaming Cihan. Cihan is innocent, Azize pipes up. How can you be sure, Nasuh asks? He’s also sure Cihan did it. Azra asks, who could be responsible then? [fitting that Azra asks, no?] We need to find that out, Azize replies. [I’ll bet she knows where to look]
Meanwhile, Cihan is at the Aslanbey konak. Don’t waste your breath with excuses, he tells Fusun. I know you set the Foundation fire. She plays innocent. Cihan knows she did it because everyone would blame him. Fusun plays into his weakness. It must be very sad not to have your family’s support, she tells him. It hurts that my loved ones blame me for their misfortunes, he says. But that fire you caused hurts me more.
Fusun says, fortunately I don’t have to go through these things. Only for now, Cihan warns her before leaving. Fusun thinks she’s got the upper hand. Miran will be in charge of taking care of Cihan, she tells Halit, and I’ll get my daughter back. After all, I’m innocent. She will have to forgive me.
ReyMir come down to join the others on the patio. The family gives their support to help rebuild the Foundation. Firat assures Miran he will always be by his side. May God help us and keep the family together, Azize says. All is hopeful until the Red Menace shows up and is all sweetness and light towards Reyyan. The family starts casting annoyed and suspicious looks in her direction.
And we are out.
And there you have it! This episode was disturbing! I never imagined Romina would go so far with Jimena!!! What happened to the good old fashioned novela face-off with lots of slapping and hair pulling?? This is next level...
Everything about this dark production is next level darkness. Rosi and Romina aren't just garden variety evil their insane. Adan isn't just too fond of the boss's wife he's capable to threatening small children with horse whips and broken ankles! Dimi exists and Gunter is whatever ghoulish life form he is. Actually Gunter no longer seems that bad, which I find so disturbing, there are so many other worse people in this show that I'm half tempted to call him huggable! (Maybe that's his problem? Maybe Gunter could just use a good hug!)
Not enough of the family in this episode. I missed Sara and her kids. We need FRANCO!!! I like Jimena, but I wish they would give her more to do than looking scared and nervous all the time. I wish we had gotten more happy family time with Juan back at home and the family reunited before Rosi came and brought more drama.
Not to mention the stupid extortionist and the reminder that somewhere buried deep down, this show is still about who killed Prof Carreno... I have theorized that it was Adela - possibly in cahoots with Felix - and that she was extorting the twins for the money to escape and start a new life away from the horrible childhood her father gave her. But I have a second theory brewing. I am wondering if maybe Dimi did it. He could have been off in that abandoned spot trying to get rid of one of his bodies (remember the police also found the body of a girl not long after they found Carreno) and he stumbles upon the twins with the Prof. Seeing his opportunity he records their confrontation and then after the twins leave he kills the Prof - I mean what does he care he kills people easily - He can now use the video to scare Eric and Leon into financing the country gentleman life that up until now he has just pretended to have!! Just a theory of course, but we are learning more and more everyday of just how ruthless Dimi is and whereas I could never account for why Adela and Felix would have happened to be in that abandoned place, there's a good reason why Dimi may have been.
To answer Juanita, the first two seasons of La Hija del Embajador were on Univision. My recaps can be found there. For some reason they moved it to UniMas for the third and final season. If there is enough interest and we get an approved space, I will be there to recap, wearing my cowhide beanie!
I am interested! I saw season 1 but not season 2, but I will read your recaps before May 2nd and be ready to dive right in to Season 3 on UniMas!
Darcy, your recap was outstanding! I haven't had the time to watch, yet, but your writing is so vivid and full of interesting details.
I was going to mention Gunther, too. When he first appeared, we thought he was going to be a big baddy. As it turns out he's Rosario's version or Quintina - goulish looking, but showing quite a lot of common sense - which is not hard when compared with Rosario. Speaking of, she used to be a handfull when she was younger, but now she's gone completely bonkers!!!
Your theory about Dimi being the killer of the Prof (the mystery that everyone forgot and nobody ever cared about) is very good. I mean, killing an SOB like Carreno would actually be a good deed, if Dimi ever seeks redemption, he should start with this LOL
I have to admit I'm a bit surprised the Reyes family like Muriel so much. I might have watched too many novelas (which I have), but they are all so opposed to Rosario and yet seem to like Muriel, her daughter, so much. Sure, it's great they're not judging the daughter for the mother's sins, but surely they realize Muriel will cause a lot of troubles for their golden boy, right?
I totally dislike Jimena's story - isolated from her family, stupid Oscar away doing God knows what...
And WHERE is Franco? Shouldn't be long now, right?
DONDE:

Thanks so much, dondi. Fine recap, as always. I got a kick out of "formerly known as HAG".
It still drives me crazy that NO ONE ever mentions that there would be no Umut if Azize hadn't fed Reyyan those herbs. Someone should especially tell Hazar.
Yep, Sukran was not as tough as we'd have hoped. She didn't drag the Red Menace back to the village. But, of course the writers needed Dilsah to keep the plot limping along. I thought it was odd that, when they were all seated at dinner fussing over Miran's absence, Dilsah wasn't with them. Reyyan covered for her so Miran, you would think, would expect his mother to be at a family dinner.
I haven't read "knuckle sandwich" for a very long time and laughed out loud upon finding it here. Ye Gods, Miran keeps saying over and over that he's going to change for Reyyan. He's supposedly devastated by her delicate condition. But he goes right into major Angry Bangs right away.
I have mentally written a really good scene, maybe cribbed a bit from Wile E. Coyote and The Roadrunner. I see Fusun and Cihan fighting on a cliff. They start to scratch each other's eyes out, they wrestle, and then they fall off the cliff. Unlike the cartoon they are both Wile E. Coyote and are smashed flat when they land.
Dondi, thank you again spinning straw into gold.I always especially appreciate your parenthetical comments .
Where in the world is my last bright spot in this hot mess..Mafouz ?
Like Novelera, I enjoyed " knuckle sandwich ." Roflmao.
Azz...now as good as bread. Who knew?
Who ever expected harpy Handan to be the voice of reason ? Even she has had enough of Cihan the Barbarian . I am guessing that we will never see a dizi entitled " Let's Forgive and Forget."
Fu decides that burning down the new foundation designed to help people is her next great revenge plan. Yeah. No. That will win Azra over for sure when she finds out....and we know she will . I wish the writers would sic Fu on Dil . I cannot believe that Goodgran didn't drag Dil to the village with her now that she knows she hates Rey. I am disappointed in you Skukrun. No thank you.
Meanwhile , Azat and Gonul are blissfully honeymooning . ha. Someone got out of this Twilight Zone of vengeance .
Thanks very much, dondi356, for another excellent recap. It includes everything important and lots of great side comments. I especially enjoyed " [I guess she’s tired of Me-ran’s screaming. And she should take that other headache called Dilsah with her]" Amen to that!
It's true that we don't get an answer from Turan, but I'm under the impression that Miran may have left Reyyan's diary with him to read and then to make a decision. But frankly, even if Turan at first turns Miran down, I think something will make him change his mind. I feel strongly that both Reyyan and Umut will survive.
I don't really understand Cihan's thirst for vengeance against Azize and, especially Miran. Didn't Miran thwart Azize's command by deliberately shooting Azat in a way that would not kill him? Azat and Miran are now on very good terms, so why is Cihan over-the-top enraged?
Dondi, you say about the Sadoglu family dinner, "[I fear this could be as good as it gets]." You may be right, but I've been assuming that the final episode will include the scene that Reyyan saw in her dream, where everyone was getting along well with everyone else, including former enemies. [Hmmm...is it by accident that HAPPY and SAPPY rhyme?]
I liked the way Handan stood up to Cihan and pointed out that they've lost Azat because of Cihan's hatred and anger. However, she goes on to say "We lost Azat, let's protect Yaren." Yikes. Protect the Yellow Centipede??
And why does Fusun think that her ordering the burning of the Umut Foundation will result in her getting her daughter back? Azra already knows that her mother poisoned Reyyan and caused the death of one of Reyyan's fetuses. She has told her bio-mom that she's NOT her mother. What would make Azra change her very negative feelings about Frightful Fusun?
What an amazing recap, Darcy!
Lol, instead of "not that father of Muriel’s that..." I read "not that father of Muriel's hat" xD
Great minds think alike! I was JUST thinking that Gunther is actually likable compared to the rest of the baddies in this!
I think that Romina defended Duvan because if he died, she wouldn't have anything to blackmail Óscar. So even her good deed isn't actually good...
Couldn't Romina accidentally fire her gun? Nobody would miss Adán anyway and the guy is just... Cringe.
Rosario is nuts.
I also thought the killer (and the extortionist) might be Adela. I like Darcy's theory that it might have been Dimi. Is it possible that maybe Adela killed him, but Dimi is the extortionist? It doesn't have to be the same person, right?
Romina attacking Jimena was something that I hadn't seen coming. Will she finally find out the truth?
Lastly, since they're around 80 episodes in this, as someone commented, I expect Franco to turn up soon. Just a guess, around episode 50?
Adriana, I agree with you totally about Muriel but I kind of like it....it's like this weird magical pull that Muriel has over all things Reyes. They are instantly smitten with her! It started with Andres, then Sara and then all of Juan's family especially JD of course. Then Gaby and Jimena and Oscar. Has Gabriela met her yet? I think it will be interesting to see that meet! I would expect more wariness like you but in this weird twisted pitch black tale I am oddly charmed by this little nonsensical detail.
Weirdo - yes it could absolutely be two people. But unless Adele and Dimi are working together that would mean both Dimi and Adela happened to be at that abandoned locale at the same time the twins just happened to come with the Prof. Eric and Leon had their interaction with the Prof and left without seeing Dimi or Adela, then Adela killed the Prof and left without seeing Dimi, and Dimi filmed the whole thing and left last (probably) without being seen by anyone or killing Adela (which is sadly the hardest part of the theory.....the creep probably would have killed Adela, she kind of looks similar to Gaby too) Of course they could be in cahoots, and thus he let her live? Maybe we are wrong and the Prof wasn't the father of the baby and it's Dimi, he could be Adela's mystery boyfriend. Hell, Dimi might be killing people who look like Adela instead of people who look like Gaby as it seems. This is such a convoluted mess.
I have no idea when Franco is going to come back but I am hoping Adriana is right and it's sooner than later. I really hope it's not one of those times where 'special participation' means he's only in the last three episodes and a few random flashbacks!!!! This show could use in infusion of Michel Brown, stat!
Any guesses as to how the writers will end this show? Will they give out some anvils and some HEAs? I guess Azat and Gonul made it out of the web of revenge , so they are long gone and got their HEA.
I think there are huge anvils hanging over Fu and Cihan since the writers are painting them more and more evil while showing Azz as the sweet soul she once was before Nasuh's evil mother did her wrong and she turned into Azz , The avenger .
I think Mir, Rey, and Umut will get a HEA....but then I have watched other Turkish dizis that had brutal endings .
Thank you for the terrific recap dondi356, especially since you are traveling. I think you covered my thoughts exactly in every spot-on side comment.
It almost feels like “who is going to make it to the end?” in some of the character comments. Hazar has said a few things lately that cause me concern. Could it be the writers are setting us up for main character death? It can’t be Reyyan or Umut (I hope at least). Will Hazar jump in front of a bullet to save his mother, Ayse? I think Cihan is too selfish to jump in front of a bullet for Hazar. Not sure where all of this going.
Appreciate the recap dond356!
Thanks everyone for the kind words and great comments. I’ve been watching eps this week with people who have never watched. They laughed. My mom witnessed a Miran meltdown and said, “what’s wrong with this guy? His overacting makes him quite unattractive.”
Yep, Susanlynn, looks like Azat and Gonul “…got out of this Twilight Zone of vengeance”. I hope they stay far away.
Every once in a while Cihan’s insecurities bubble over into a hot mess. Why is he still shouting about Miran taking his thirtysomething son from him? Even Handan correctly pointed out Cihan is to blame! Halimacandy has a point though, there’s no shame in his game, he stands by his work. He would have admitted if he set that fire.
I like the Wile E. Coyote scenario, novelera. Does Acme Co. ship to Midyat? Yes, Azize helped Rey and Umut. That was quickly glossed over and no one seemed to care—just like no one cares where Hanife went!
I’m thinking like you, Juanita. Turan might come around after reading Rey’s diary and show up later.
And I would love to see the ending that Rey dreamed about, but I think there will be someone missing. Like VVS mentioned, there has been foreshadowing. Some possibilities: Hazar, Cihan, Azize, Yaren, maybe even Miran. I think Rey has a good chance of surviving because they are making such a big deal. A lot of times a devastating death occurs suddenly when and where you least expect it.
Fusun is trying to push all her sins off on Cihan. I don’t think she’s done yet. She certainly deserves a giant anvil or maybe a just a bucket of water to melt her. What a world…. What a world.
