When love puts you through the fire When love puts you to the test Nothing cures a broken heart Like time, love and tenderness – Diane Warren
El Calamal is in his prison cell with his minions who think they should have forgotten about taking the kid and gone across the border. El Calamal asks what they wanted to go across for …to keep killing and stealing? When one starts being bad, you can’t stop…and this is the place that stops you from doing harm. The only thing he wanted to do was take his kid and leave. His son is the only good thing he has done. El Calamal ugly slobbers “mi JuanDi” as tears stream down his face
Hugo enters with his mother, Catalina. To my delight, it’s Leticia Calderon! Rod sternly says he never thought she would return. Catalina asks to speak with him later. Directing a piercing, steely eyed gaze at Ileana, she adds if his novia doesn’t mind. Ileana returns her stare unflinchingly countering with why would she mind? She is Rod’s “ex” and Ileana was taught that “ex” is part of the past. Hugo does wish to speak with Catalina so Rod tells them he and Ileana have plans and they will see them later. Rod offers his arm to Ileana, and they gracefully arise and leave.
Gabriela and Juventino are surprised with a celebration for the family and the other families. When Gabriela asks what is going on, Ursula explains that they need to live in the present so they will be renewing their vows right now! Efrain is there along with Nico, Victoria, the girls, the babies, Sam, Gus, Domingo and folks whose identities were and still are a mystery.
Hugo tells his mother that he was afraid to forget her face. Catalina thinks he has grown so much but he has the same profound and innocent (viewerville blanches) eyes he’s always had. Hugo comments that he just grew; when she left, he was just a child. Catalina thinks he is reproaching her. Hugo can’t help what he feels; he pretended that everything was alright and did not resent her for many years, but now he thinks he has the right to ask why she abandoned him. She caresses his face with her hand and stares intently.
Diana
Hugo pulls open a wooden gate to reveal a gorgeous, luxurious white home on the ocean with a swimming pool. She asks who lives there and wonders why they are there. Rod asks she go near the beach and her questions will be answered.
Catalina explains that she never wanted to abandon Hugo. When she asks if he really thinks she wanted to leave him, he argues that she still left. While she traveled the world, he asked himself why his mother wasn’t with him. Catalina knows he is right; she went to pursue her career…and the truth is that if she had taken him, she would have taken good care of him. There was never a day that she didn’t miss him! She argues that women are judged more harshly than men. If a man pursues his career, society applauds him. When a father leaves, he is forgiven a thousand times more than a mother who leaves. Hugo thinks she is trying to justify what she did, but Catalina is only trying to explain. She knows it’s hard to understand; had she stayed, she would have been a frustrated and unhappy mother. She regrets not having taken him, but she doesn’t regret leaving.
Ileana sits on one of the couches overlooking the ocean as blue green waves crash on the shore. As Rod walks up, a serenade begins with sweet music emanating from the mariachi band on the balcony. Rod sings “Si Vas a Amarme” looking every inch the smoldering, sexy galan. He sports an embroidered sombrero de charro (wide-brimmed hat), beautiful moño charro (bow tie), decorated chaquetilla (short jacket), matching vest, eye catching belt. He pulls her up and they sway in time with the music as she recalls a few of their earlier moments together, then she turns and looks at the band. Rgv Chick and I both melted at all the hawtness.
Catalina doesn’t want Hugo to doubt her love for him; he is her only son. The day he was born was the happiest day of her life. Hugo thought he was just a bother but Catalina cries that the only thing that bothered her was the mistakes she made. If he had been by her side, she would have fully accomplished everything she wanted in her life. Hugo cries that he never stopped needing his mother…the one who would tuck him in bed and ask him to wiggle his nose…it took him years to learn how to do it. When Catalina tells him that she is so proud of him for moving on, Hugo isn’t proud of himself; he has gone down the wrong path several times and now he is not happy with who he is. Catalina isn’t happy with the road she is on either; she suggests that they follow a path together…why doesn’t he go with her to Paris.
Diana
Ileana is glowing with happiness, wondering why the big surprise. Rod tells her he loves her, and this is only the introduction to the real surprise. He asks her to pick up a seashell from the bowl. A heart shaped container has a set of keys. Yes, he smiles lovingly, these are the keys to her new house!
At the vow renewal, with Domingo officiating, Gabriela wears a simple ring of white flowers around her head that matches Juventino’s boutonniere. Nico tells Juventino that they are more than friends they are family. Victoria comments that they had shown that they have defeated sadness and proven that not even death can separate them. Juventino tells Gabriela that she motivates him to be better every day and that is why he loves her infinitely and asks her to marry him again. Gabriela accepts to marry the man who respected her and accepted that she didn’t want to be the prototype that would stay home. She loves him more than ever and just like their last name…they will take one step at a time and strengthen their love. Domingo pronounces them husband and wife …again.
Ileana is over the moon in disbelief Rod is offering her this huge house! Rod assures her that nothing will ever be too grand for her…now Juan Diego and Hugo can have their own rooms (finally, viewerville mutters). Ahhh, but true to his nature, Rod is far from done. There is another treasure she needs to find. Snugly nestled in a ring box is a sparkling, beautiful diamond. He kneels down and proposes. Ileana feels like she is in a beautiful dream…with her principe azul…and of course she will marry him! Rod is the happiest man on earth! He rises and kisses her hand, picking her up, spinning her around as he jumps, carrying her into the pool where flower petals float gracefully on the surface and lit sparklers line the pool. A very wet, romantic kiss ensues.
Masha asks unsmiling, imaginary little Masha if she is ready for Nico’s party. After little Masha nods, Masha is ready too and she has the perfect costumes for them both.
Time for Nico’s costumed theme birthday party!! Nico is blindfolded and the girls guide Nico and Victoria to the center of the room. Everyone chants “Nico”. What fun – Camila wears a native American outfit while Sofia sports a long red-haired wig, green pants and a purple shirt matching the star in her hair.
Rod wants to take advantage that they are all together to announce that he and Ileana are engaged. Juan Diego is excited! Hugo seems genuinely happy and congratulates them; Rod deserves this. Catalina takes the opportunity to also make her announcement…Hugo is going to live with her in Paris. Rod thinks not! She is not taking his son from him!
Diana
Victoria needs to change into her costume. Nico is bothered by the balloons…he doesn’t want them to say that number (40)! He releases the balloons as Victoria jests that there are so many…that it looks like 400.
Alondra arrives as the imperious queen she is, wearing her crown. She has a huge lavender tulle wrap covering an embellished cream colored slightly off shoulder gown with statement necklace. She inquires if they weren’t going to invite her to Nico’s party. The girls are excited to see her…Nico and Victoria not so much.
Masha is in the babies’ (mercifully empty) room holding a bottle…she promises to love Nico…till death do them part.
Rod chides Catalina for showing up after so many years trying to give orders. Catalina retorts that she won’t discuss the subject when his little novia and stepson are present. Ileana quickly adds that she is not a “little novia,” she is Rod’s future wife! Rod also adds that he loves Juan Diego like a second son and together with Hugo, he plans to form a family. Catalina mocks that they will be a dysfunctional family after all the problems they have had. Rod wonders how she has that gall to mention dysfunctional when it was she who decided to depart, leaving him a single father! He alone raised Hugo! Hugo agrees and appreciates all the sacrifices and love that Rod has given him. When Catalina reminds Hugo that he still went down the wrong path, Hugo argues that he was stupid…he couldn’t understand that Rod had fallen in love with Ileana. Catalina acknowledged all that Rod has done for Hugo, but it is now her turn and wants to compensate for all the years she was away from him. When Rod asks Hugo if he wants to leave, Hugo cries that yes he does! He wants to start a new life. And he wants them to fight for their happiness and realize their dreams. He loves his daddy he states rather childishly. Rod asks Catalina to take care of Hugo. Cat assures him that she will.
Nikolai is at the party sporting a red braid down his back. He assures Nico that he is no longer with Masha…she went way too loca! He asks Nico to trust him; he is on the good side and came to Acapulco only for love…Leona!! Leona admits that they have had a long-distance relationship! Nico thinks Victoria will “whoa” non stop! He congratulates them as viewerville stares at this highly improbable duo.
Diana
Gabriela admires Victoria as a woman, a mother and a professional. Victoria also admires Gabriela and is glad that the families have resolved all their issues.
Victoria as Cleopatra, wore a shoulder length dark haired wig with bangs, covered by a golden, tasseled crocheted cap, huge gold double disc shoulder duster earrings and chunky bracelets and rings. Her cat eyes lined in thick, black kohl and liberally applied eye shadow. Her garments (collar, bra and skirt) are a gold and black striped pattern coordinating with but yet not quite matching Nico.
Sam asks Alexa (Juliet to his Romeo) to be his novia…she agrees! Cute!
Efrain as a pirate sported a black head scarf, thick braided embellishment on his red tasseled tapestry vest and beaded necklaces. His lace-up white shirt with voluminous frilly lace cuffs (the “puffy” shirt was but a pale imitation) needs no further description. Blue, green and red striped pants completed the outfit. No bottle of rum was visible. Viewerville pauses to ask why Marinero, the perfect accessory wasn’t perched on his shoulder?
Masha arrives as a bride with a gold mask. There is a black bag at her waist, with a strap around her neck.
Nico, a Pharoah, wore a Nemes (headcloth) constructed of gold fabric with a black striped pattern adorned with a pale blue insignia on the front. His collar festooned with stones including imitation red agate, blue topaz below which hung the same insignia. His red shendyt (loincloth) was tightened to his waist by a similarly adorned belt. Gladiator sandals completed his look. No wonder he gets “whoa’d!!
When Alondra asks about the hand holding, Sam and Alexa announce that they are novios. More whoas! Alexa is super in love and will defend her love against the world! Alondra tells Gus and Sofia they’d better not even think about falling in love! Sofia assures her they are only best friends….love is boring!
Diana
Adrian comes in as a turtle. He is happy about his friends news – it’s about time! The sight of sweet Adrian is diminished a bit as we see he is flanked by two adults. Are they his abusive parents???
Rod cries (and I want to go hug him). Ileana assures him that Hugo will be fine…being away will help him value many things…and change and strengthen his inner being. Rod laments he will miss him very much, but he knows this is best for Hugo. Ileana will save mucho dinero so they can go visit Hugo. Juan Diego is excited that they will live in that huge house!! Not to be completely outdone, Ileana has a big surprise herself…she was accepted to law school! Juan Diego admires her and Rod wants to help her with half the tuition but Ileana wants to pay for her own education. She knows they will be married but she still wants to be independent. Juan Diego enthuses that they are finally happen and puts his head on his father’s shoulder.
Alondra and the girls walk the beach. Camila knows that they have had many arguments and confrontations but now that she is eighteen, she understands everything Alondra has done for them. When Alondra tells them that grandparents sometimes feel that they are a bother, Alexa tells her she will never be a bother! When their parents left, they only had her and their uncle Nico….and sometimes grandparents take the place of the parents. Alexa adds that when their parents died, she felt very alone and didn’t know what would happen to them. Camila interjects that they knew that the only one who could fill that void was her (Alondra). And now she loves her just as much as she loves her mother. They will always need her to guide them, to spoil them but more importantly to gift them with her experience. Alondra swears that she would give her life for them…her beautiful granddaughters! Sofia asks what about Nico? Camila replies that he is like their second father. They see visions of Antonio and Cristina in the sky.
The emcee announces that they are there to celebrate Nico’s birthday #…Nico shushes her. It’s bad manners to say a man’s age! The party shall begin! Ileana and Rod (Wilma and Fred Flintstone) arrive…they can’t start without them.
Diana
El Calamal writes to Juan Diego, telling him he could easily escape but he won’t. He regrets not being the father Juan Diego wanted, but he swears that he has loved him more than anything in the world. El Calamal doesn’t know if he will ever be the father Juan Diego wanted, but Juan Diego is the son he always dreamed of and he promises that they will see each other again. He signs it “Your father” and bribes the guard to mail it.
In a scene that makes little sense, (or “nunsense” – forgive me Father), Mother Superior’s sister sidekick (who has not uttered one word previously) paces back and forth telling everyone that she became a sister because she wants to change the world and become a Mother Superior…and for kids that are into social media…she wants to save them and the world! Because love is her only salvation!
The emcee them introduces the singing duo, Elidían! They thank everyone, Victoria in particular, for inviting them to the party. They sing and dance.
Nico goes to join Victoria as the bride with the gold Phantom of the Opera mask and massive black bag flies into view. Masha, the bride from hell grabs Alexa roughly by the neck and asks why they didn’t invite Masha. She orders them to stay back, or she will kill Alexa! She asks Victoria if she thinks her wedding dress looks better on her. Nico should have married her, but it doesn’t matter because she has the best birthday present for him.
Masha announces she has acid…don’t they just love it!? She tells Alexa that her face will look precious. Nico pleads that she let his daughter go! Masha warns that she will burn whoever gets close; she will have no mercy because life had no mercy on her. There is a collective scream from the party goers. Victoria points out the obvious; she is surrounded and won’t get away. When Masha thinks it’s time to give them her present, Nico asks what she wants…he will do whatever she wants just as long as she releases Alexa. Masha wants what she has always wanted…a last kiss to seal the marriage in front of everyone. Nico agrees and asks her to keep calm. Nico walks up to her and manages to grab acid. Alexa assures Nico she is all right as Masha runs away…Efrain runs after her as do Nico and Victoria. Efrain screams for Masha but it is in vain. It is time to end all the pain and Masha holds out her arm, smiling as she follows her imaginary younger self into the waves that eventually envelop her, finally disappearing from view. A prostrate Efrain is comforted by Ursula.
Diana
Juventino missed working with Gabriela; they are a great team! They kiss in full view of everyone in the hotel lobby.
Cami and Juan Diego are teaching a class. Holding El Calamal’s letter in his hand, Juan Diego tells Camila he can’t believe that, after inflicting so much harm, his father asked for his forgiveness. Camila tells him that the important thing is that he continues being the wonderful guy he always has been. Juan Diego agrees. They are giving these kids some opportunities, which isn’t much in and of itself, but they are doing it. Camila points out the beach is made of many grains of sand…together they will change the world.
We see a newspaper with El Calamal’s picture with the headline that he hung himself.
Back at a happier venue, on the beach with the two babies hoisted high in matching strollers, Alondra is ordering that the food be placed in a certain spot and tells the kids to behave. When Victoria sides with her, Nico asks if she is feeling alright! Alondra then wants to give them all her rules. Nico and Victoria see some family photos and reflect gratefully, thinking they are very fortunate. Three beach babes approach Nico asking if he is single; Victoria quickly tells them no! When Nico tells the women is father to five, they quickly scurry off. Victoria then asks Nico if he misses his single life. Nico assures them he doesn’t because he is nothing without them…his family. They agree on “Puro Power” as they hug and kiss, their foundation as rock solid as their love and deep devotion to each other.
After the episode ends, pictures of the family accompany the closing credits.
FIN
Diana
What an adventure this has been! Hidden in the guise of a family friendly comedy, there were unexpected deep, dark twists and turns including infant mortality, child abuse and murder. Prejudice, class consciousness and unholy alliances conspired yet in the end, evil and insanity were vanquished. A testament to love, hope, faith and friendship. Family forever!
As a tortured soul, Masha’s ending seemed fitting as did El Calamal’s. I loved Leticia Calderon as Hugo’s mother and Rod’s beautiful proposal! Much sweetness to savor.
To my partner Rgv Chick, you provided and illuminated the fast, free flowing dialog with wit and wisdom. You created these sumptuous feasts; I added but a sprinkling of seasoning to bring out the already created rich and aromatic texture. I am so grateful for your always intuitive sense of exactly what I missed and most of all for your generous time. Darcy and Doris, you rounded out our Dream Team. Your recaps were riveting, wry and wonderful. I am in awe of your talent and writing skills. It has been an honor and a pleasure. Without you, this would not have been possible, and I cannot thank you all enough.
Thank you to all those whose comments kept us going, including Urban, SpanProf, Liz, Niecie, Judy, Susanlynn. Your kind, staunch support and intuitive comments was the wind beneath our wings.
Diana
Great work, Diana. All of you did a great job on this series.
While I expected severe consequences for El Calamal and Masha, I didn't expect him to commit suicide. No matter; his death frees Ileana and Juan Diego from future anxieties.
Not so sure about Masha since we didn't actually see her die. That is my one complaint here.
Oh, and Marinero should have been at the party.
Diana – thank you for your wonderful recap of our Gran Final!!!
And thank you for carrying the heaviest load of writing the majority of recaps for this ‘novela! That was a LOT of work and time and I appreciate it.
Juventino finally shaved off that stupid scruff and he looks at least ten years younger and mucho better.
Rodleana as Fred & Wilma cracked me up.
I really liked Alondra's fairy godmother costume. (First out fit of hers that I liked) But when she walked along the beach with the girls and that hem was dragging in the wet sand, all I could think was, "Is that thing machine washable?" LOL
Was Masha hanging out in her hidey-hole ever since Coral saved the baby from her? No police surveillance to try to capture her? QTH? Or was that a different lair? Beanie hat time!
In a typical Rodrigo move, he buys Ileana a house without consulting her about her tastes or preferences, or even telling her. It’s a good thing Ileana liked the house.
Nikolai & Leona = Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Who saw that coming? (lol)
re: ADRIAN – I assumed those were his parents. Which was interesting, because neither was stick thin, for parents who abused him for being overweight. The dad looked quite well-fed.
Diana, "Nunsense" was perfect for that scene. It made absolutely no sense, at all, unless the actress is related to Juan Osorio. ;-)
It took me a while to figure out Masha was holding the broken end of a wine bottle to Alexa’s neck. Yikes.
Hubby was walking through the room as Masha was walking into the ocean. He asked, “aren’t any of those people going to stop her? save her?” LOL! It really made no sense, since she wasn’t even in waist high water yet, and they all just stood there watching her, like bad rubbish washing out to sea. Maybe the costume rental place wasn't going to refund their deposits if they got them wet.
The photo of El Calamal hanging on his noose could have been left out, since this was a “family” show. But, whatever…
Diana: Howdy from the Alamo City. Good Job on the recap of last night's Gran Final.
I wasn't shocked about EC & Masha killing themselves.
Assuming Coral still in prison for her complicity in multiple crimes against humanity ?
UA: Ileana & JD are free from turmoil & living happily ever after with Rodrigo. Good news is that Hugo FINALLY left with Buji Catalina.
I'll post my personal thoughts on the Gran Final later this morning.
Steve Boudreaux
Urban, thank you. So glad you were on this ride with us!
Yes, mercifully Ileana and Juan Diego will not need to spend the rest of their lives looking over their shoulders. When EC said he could escape if he wished, that was frightening but I didn't doubt it for a minute. Juan Diego now has Rod and both will fill the void for each other very nicely.
And Marinero missing last night was just wrong!!
Diana
doris, thank you so much! This was a true team effort start to finish.
I SO appreciate your comment on Adrian's parents. To be honest, I stopped for a minute, trying to process what I was seeing, not believing they would be so bold as to show up. And your smart observation that his parents were not reed thin was spot on! "Well fed" is perfect.
I did not realize that Masha was holding a broken bottle to Alexa's neck. I thought it was the acid! Thank you for pointing that out.
The costumes were the best part of the show and I wish they'd shown them in more detail.
Nikolai and Leona must have been an idea that the writers came up with after a 20 hour day. Absurd, but it did make me smile...
Rod does take over but he is beyond romantic! The moral of the story is never, ever, refuse a gift from Rodrigo Montero!!
Your hub is right of course in that there wasn't a plunge into the water from the shore to be seen. At least her torturous mind is finally at rest.
Diana
Hey, what is coming next in this time slot.
Last night's episode of Rey is not yet On Demand, which annoys me. I may have to leave my game when it airs. Grrrr.
Yes, that was a broken bottle. Leave it to Masha to think of such a thing. The fact that she wasn't captured in all this time is probably a subtle dig at the police department. Coral knew that location, so shouldn't she have led them there?
I will cut Rod some slack over the house because he had to have known by then that Ileana loved the sea and its gifts (seashells, which I have a great fondness for). Who wouldn't love that house? And considering the level of romance he is capable of, why weren't he and Ileana dressed as Gomez and Morticia Addams for the party? Or should that have been Juventino and Gabriela?
Yes, Adrian's father definitely looked a big too stout. The abuse they heaped on him could have been based in self-hatred.
Urban, Gomez and Morticia Adams. Gotta love it. Hmmm, I think Gabriela and Juventino would have worn it best.
Your insightful comment on Adrian's parents that "the abuse they heaped on him could have been based in self-hatred" was beyond. Thank you.
Susanlynn, La mexicana y el güero starts tonight.
Diana
" The abuse they heaped on him could have been based in self-hatred."
UrbanA - Spot on. This probably happens more often than we realize.
Carmina telling Hugo that the world is harder on a mother who puts career first (over a father who does) made a good point. However, we saw the toll it took on Hugo. Being absent for years(?) makes it hard to swallow. Not all women are cut out for being a SAHM. I have a neighbor who tried being a SAHM for a year and she was miserable, so she went back to work and I couldn't blame her. She had always traveled for her work and still does, but she was and still is always home on weekends, and often for many weeks at a time. Their son did not suffer for it, either; she was probably a better mother because she was being true to her own self. There is a balance that is necessary. Hugo missed out on that and felt abandoned; it is probably the driving force behind all his bad behaviors.
La mexicana y el güero
Is anyone going to watch this? I'm going to give it a try. If they speak clearly enough that I don't need CCs and is somewhat watchable, I might stick with it. I do like Juan Soler, ever since Reina de Corazones. ☺
Thanks, Diana and RGV Chick for filling in details and adding to the enjoyment of this telenovela. Marsha’s walk into the sea was a perfect ending for her torment. And they did show her body being washed up to shore. I wanted EC to rot in jail but I guess with his end everyone can live happily ever after.
Distance must make the heart grow fonder as the girls were so loving to Alondra, but I remember how she was. And now the two girls are not with who she had planned for them.
They really put tons of effort into their parties in this show. Fun to watch.
Great ending with Nico being approached by the three young women!
Thanks to everyone’s comments and recaps. A fun way to watch the show.
Liz
Thanks Liz! I didn't see Masha's body washing ashore so thank you for mentioning that.
I guess time heals some hurts quicker than others, thus the all is forgiven for Alondra!
We did have fun on this, thanks for being a part...
Diana
On my way to visit my friend of 50 years, a breast cancer survivor who is home after undergoing (hopefully successful) colon cancer surgery. For some who have endured much, real life is often way too unfair.
Will check back later. Thank you for all your comments.
Diana
Diana, thank you for this amazing recap of the Gran Final and all your other amazing, insightful, wonderful recaps of this show. Doris is right you carried the Lion's share of the work on this and you did it flawlessly! I love how your heart and compassion for all the characters just flows off the page!!
'Catalina thinks he is reproaching her.' Does she really expect to not be reproached? I can respect her view on having a career and not being a SAHM. But there's a world of difference between leaving the house to go to work and abandoning your son completely!!!
Once again Masha goes for Alexa! There's gotta be something in her psyche causing her to hate Alexa for loving her or something, otherwise why target the only person who consistently showed you love and kindness? Even forgiving and hugging you in the hospital. I knew I wouldn't have let her hug Masha! The whole going off into the ocean and drowning thing was a little silly but I can see how it might be a very satisfying ending artistically.
Niko and Leona, you know I would actually watch that spinoff (if it existed) I bet those two would be entertaining.
I think the whole magical reunion with Mommy is beyond a beenie moment but Hugo needed to leave so I guess...
Rod's big romantic gestures! Couldn't have had a finale without them! I agree it was HAWT!
This was a fun ride and I enjoyed sharing it with you all!! Thanks again Diana and you too RGV Chick!!
doris, I totally agree with your comment.
There is a world of difference between a stay at home mother and an absent mother.
I can't blame Hugo for feeling abandoned, but I feel he got out of what he did scot free. Further, Paris? What a hellish punishment :)
Diana
Darcy, thank you for your always kind words and support.
"Once again Masha goes for Alexa! There's gotta be something in her psyche causing her to hate Alexa for loving her or something, otherwise why target the only person who consistently showed you love and kindness?" YES!!! What an inspired and absolutely spot on observation! Masha isn't able to hurt the ones she loves because she loves no one. But she certainly hurt the one who loved her. Alexa surely bore the brunt of her wrath.
"...there's a world of difference between leaving the house to go to work and abandoning your son completely!!!" I see great minds think as that is what I noted above.
I think if I had been able to watch Rey, Pablo Montero would have me in a puddle on the floor. How did I not notice how utterly attractive he is? Whew. Where is my fan???
Thanks again Darcy...
Diana
SpanProf, thank you for these and all of your kind words.
Yes, I remember you predicted little Masha would indeed lead adult Masha to her demise!! How right you were!
Our group of recappers and commenters was such a special one.
Diana
1.) Diana: I would like to thank you very much for your hardworking efforts in keeping us informed on what was a wild, entertaining & intriguing Telenovela. Although I'm still bothered by the flashbacks of seeing poor Ileana being violently beaten by EC.
2.) SpanProf: You called it: Little Masha leading Adult Masha to her demise. I figured out she was heading towards a deadly end from the get-go.
3.) I am also curious as to why Masha kept going after Alexa & for what ? She seemed to be obsessed of targeting her.
4.) Once again: Glad to see that Hugo is GONE forever & moving to Paris, never to be heard from again. Scumbag instigated the violent beating of Ileana & other crimes.
5.) Buji Catalina showing up at the last minute & justifying leaving Hugo, etc., tells me she & Hugo needed to go to Paris & NEVER come back. Thank God. PS: I knew that I recognized Leticia Calderon from somewhere & noticed her hairstyle was different.
6.) Ileana & Rodrigo including JD living happily ever after: AWWW.
7.) Did anyone noticed Vicky cringed when Masha punched her in the stomach ?
8.) I was surprised about Leona & Nikolai being a couple: I agree with the rest of Viewerville because I didn't see that one coming.
9.) Juventino & Gabriela renewing their vows: AWWWW.
10.) I didn't know that Efrain was in the Mexican Navy when I saw the opening credits. He should've done a better job of raising Masha from going complete psycho & murdering folks.
11.) It was nice seeing Camila, Alexa, Sofia walking the beach with their Buji Grandmother Alondra.
12.) Nico, Vicky, Camila, Alexa, Sofia & the 2 babies are one big happy family: HORRAY!
Doris, Diana, SpanProf, Darcy, Liz, Carmella & Co.,: Are y'all planning on watching the upcoming Telenovela "Mujer de Nadie" staring Livia Brito & Marcus Ornellas ?
The Efeoglu ladies prepare for the social services visit with Halise barking orders at everyone. She warns Elvan that Yahya will be there, too, so don’t do anything to dishonor the family. Elvan assures she will be on her best behavior. You all must behave like Efeoglu women, Halise instructs.
Zehra enters and Halise questions, where did you go last night? Zehra readily answers, Kavruk and I went to watch for Melek. Nothing happened, but I felt anxious. Halise gives her daughter a big pinch on the arm. Zehra jumps up. Halise warns her to respect her elders. You are not to go out at night again without my knowledge, especially with Kavruk, or we will have problems.
Are you threatening me, Zehra asks? I’m just saying to be careful, Halise replies, better not try my patience. I don’t care if you are a successful businesswoman. You will come back to the house and sit with me. I’d love for Sancar to hear this, Zehra says. This is what you worry about and not your granddaughter?
If you listen to me, Halise tells her, there will be no problem. Let your brother hear, but first he has to return. We are trying to get Melek back, meanwhile he has disappeared with that woman. What are we going to do if someone sees them together?! Zehra thinks that’s ridiculous. What do you want from my brother? What do you want from Mavi?
Halise replies, what do I want?! What I want is for my son to come back home to help his family get his daughter back. What I don’t want is for him to disappear with some strange woman. He was already destroyed when Nare left, and I don’t want the same thing to happen if he loses his daughter.
Is that what you really want, Zehra asks? My brother is not a statue. He feels pain. He is a human being. Doesn’t he deserve to love or be loved? Nare made her decision and left here. He has every right to start over again. What do you expect him to do? You know he adores his daughter. He would do anything for her. He doesn’t have to prove it to you. Halise takes exception. That’s not what I’m saying!
Zehra asks for the truth. Why do you hate Mavi? Melek isn’t here. Her grandfather took her. What does it matter if my brother is here or not? Let him find a little peace. He still needs to recuperate. There’s going to be a long war. Let my brother prepare. Halise goes to see if Sancar has returned yet. And here he comes, through the gate as Halise heads outside.
Good morning, he tells his mother. It’s not a good one for me, Halise replies, just the opposite. I was so worried that I didn’t sleep. We ask you for help and support, but you disappear. I don’t have much time, he replies, I have to shower and the lawyer is coming to give instructions. He starts walking. Halise follows, will they ask questions about that woman? What should we tell them? Don’t answer, Sancar replies, that’s all.
I don’t know why you can’t see the problem, Halise asks, what don’t you understand? Melek was honest with her (Mavi). She asked her to leave. Why do you follow that woman? Answer! I don’t want her to go, Sancar replies. I was with her because I needed her. Are you satisfied? Now, if you allow me, I will prepare to get my daughter back. And you should concentrate on that, please. That’s all. Sancar walks.
Dudu makes a call. We have to meet. I’ll send you the location. Let’s finish this quickly. She heads out but doesn’t see Nedim following her.
Faruk gives the family their instructions for the visit. Don’t lie. If you misrepresent the facts to give a good impression, the judge will use that against you. Guven’s got an army of lawyers working for him. They will be attentive to any mistakes. Halise wants to make sure those instructions are clear to everyone. Elvan says, why would we lie? She shoots a look over to Yahya. Lol.
Sancar asks what will social services try to find? What will they ask? Faruk says they will want to assure that Melek lives in a healthy family environment. It’s very important that you don’t argue or fight. Sancar turns to his brother, did you hear that? Behave. I understand, Yahya replies. I lost control because they were taking my niece. That won’t happen again, Sancar tells him.
What else are they going to look for, Sancar asks? They will want to assure that Melek is treated well. Why wouldn’t we treat her well, Elvan asks? We all love her. That may be true, Faruk answers, but Melek ran away in the middle of the night to go to her grandfather. And her illness wasn’t discovered for quite a while. That doesn’t speak well. Gulsiye looks very guilty.
Elvan says this time we have to impress them. That’s why we’re meeting. Yes, Faruk replies, this is our objective. I know Melek is fortunate to have a family that adores her so much. And that’s what we must show social services. I’ll take care of the rest. Gulsiye asks if they should just act normal. The answer is yes. Sancar is feeling better about his chances now. Guven doesn’t love my daughter like you all do. Ha, Sancar mentions everyone except Yahya. And her uncle, Yahya asks? Ah, yes her uncle, too, Sancar adds after the fact.
Dudu meets with Ahmet at a café. What do you want, she asks? Stop looking for me. I’m not interested. Calm down, he says, have something to drink. Dudu doesn’t want anything. Did you believe I wanted to come here to chat? You called me to meet, he replies. I’m desperate, she tells him, if Yahya finds out you’re looking for me, the Efeoglus will break your bones.
He doesn’t seem too worried. And what will they do to you, he asks? They can’t do anything to me, she replies, I’m carrying Yahya Efeoglu’s baby. But you will suffer, I have no doubt. She gets up from the table and he grabs her wrist. What’s the rush? You just got here. Don’t touch me, she pulls away. What do you want from me? Tell me now. You say you’re having your husband’s baby, he replies, but I know it’s mine. I want a test.
Dudu sits back down. Who the hell do you think you are? I suppose I’m the father of the baby of your dear Yahya Efeoglu. Dudu slaps the test results on the table. Neither me nor my baby have anything to do with you. Why don’t you go back to your wife? I’m engaged! Know what, Ahmet says, I think your relationship is also false, just like these results. He accuses her of falsifying them. Dudu is frustrated. Ahmet is wise to Dudu’s ways. You told me all is fair in love and war. Did you forget?
Dudu tells him he is wrong. The test was done under the supervision of Halise Efeoglu. Nevertheless, Ahmet wants another test. The timing is right. Dudu begs him to leave her alone. Ahmet presses for another test. Come with me to the hospital. If the baby isn’t mine, I promise I’ll go. Dudu thinks he’s crazy, she can’t go with him. She shouldn’t even be meeting him. I don’t know where they are but Ahmet says no one knows the Efeoglus around there so it should be safe. Dudu accepts so she can get this over with once and for all. Nedim is watching and following.
Sancar is interviewed and he starts off with an apology for what happened yesterday. If you have children, you would understand, he says. The worker says she’s learned not to take things personally. We want what’s best for the girl, that’s all.
Guven has his visit. He admits the best thing for Melek would be to grow up with her parents. But Nare escaped from the psychological torture that Sancar caused her and she abandoned her daughter. This should give you an idea of what kind of man Sancar is. The worker notes that Guven has admitted that Nare asked Sancar to take care of Melek. Why would she trust him if she didn’t think he’d be a good father?
Back to Sancar’s interview. He says that Nare trusted him. I’m the girl’s father. You don’t have any idea how much I love Melek. Everything I do is for her wellbeing. She’s everything to me. When her mother left, my daughter didn’t want to tell me that her hair was falling out so I wouldn’t be upset. I found out very late. In the Turkish he says, I should have understood this, and I don’t forgive myself.
The worker tells Guven that they (the Efeoglus) didn’t notice Melek’s condition at first, but they took measures when they found out. Guven says [Turkish] we must not forget why Melek got sick. The worker says it’s common for psychological illnesses to occur among abandoned children. Guven questions if she thinks it’s just because Melek’s mother left. The whole family lives together in that house. Everyone has a different opinion. Melek is overwhelmed because she doesn’t know who to please. She’s stressed out.
Halise is interviewed. Everyone in this house adores Melek, she says, but she learns everything from her grandmother. [Turkish] What she does, how to behave, how she grows up, it’s all up to me. [heaven help the child if that’s so] Halise adds that Zehra, Elvan and Gulsiye know that they have to follow her orders, too. They always respect me. The worker asks about Melek’s schooling. She’s missed a lot of school. We don’t hear Halise’s answer.
Madame Lenore is questioned. She says that it’s necessary to have discipline, but it seems that Melek lacks it. My job is to show her how to be a lady. But what about affection, the worker asks, isn’t that important for a child’s growth? Yes, Madame agrees, Melek’s grandfather loves her very much. But I am here to educate, not to love. Understand?
It’s Elvan’s turn. I grew up without a mother, she says, that’s why I know how she feels. And that’s why I sympathize a lot with Melek. We’ve done everything possible for her not to feel the absence of her mother. We don’t want to see her sad, especially Sancar. His world revolves around Melek. The worker asks about Elvan’s divorce and why she continues to live in the mansion. We don’t get the answer from Elvan.
Back to Guven. They (Efeoglus) have an old-fashioned way of things. Like Elvan’s situation. You know, Yahya’s ex. They divorced but she’s not allowed to leave the mansion because she could fall in love with someone else and that would stain the reputation of their great family. Unbelievable. I don’t want my granddaughter to grow up with such a primitive mentality. Or am I wrong?
Yahya is up next. I was very stressed, he explains, that’s why I lost control. You don’t know how many problems we deal with. That man (Guven) ruined my brother’s life and Nare’s. So when I saw him standing there and lying, I became furious and attacked him. The worker asks [Turkish] I’m asking about you and Sancar Bey, is there recurring violence in this family?
Guven answers that question. Of course, there is. You know that Melek ran away and came to me. I took her for a drive to calm her, but that ruffian Sancar blocked our way and beat my driver and assistant. They filed a complaint against him. But worse, he choked me, Melek’s grandfather, in front of her. The worker says that Sancar insists that you intended to kidnap Melek.
Sancar picks up from there. Yes, I was furious because he wanted to kidnap my daughter. But in this house, no one mistreats Melek. You can ask her. If you don’t trust me, talk to her. If my daughter states that I mistreat her in any way, I’ll give up this fight. The worker asks about Melek’s routine. What time does she go to sleep and wake up?
Madame takes this one. She gets up at 7. First she washes up and comes down for breakfast. After she has music lessons and then physical exercise until lunch. Then she takes a nap. Sleep is important. We continue with Math and French classes. But she needs to be in bed by 9 at night. Do you play with the girl, the worker asks? Madame doesn’t understand the question, she scoffs.
Zehra tells the worker that Melek loves to play with blocks she builds amazing things with them. She asked me for help building a cabin and I was impressed. Personally, I’ve learned a lot from Melek. She is very creative and has the soul of an artist. What are some of Melek’s favorite toys, the worker asks.
Guven doesn’t know the answer to that. Her room is full of toys that I bought, he says. She can play with what she wants, that’s her decision. Guven tries to peek when he sees the worker writing notes. He asks, when do you think you will have the report ready?
The worker is finished at the Efeoglus. She tells them the report will be ready soon. We will hand it over to the judge and we will wait for the verdict. Sancar says, that’s a month away. I can’t live without seeing my daughter. Please, I have a right to see her. The worker tells him the judge doesn’t have the best opinion of him. He will be able to see Melek but under supervision, on Saturdays. Then she has to go back to her grandfather.
Sancar has no choice but to accept this arrangement. He tells the worker that his lawyers feel optimistic. Her mother left. I should have custody of my own daughter. The worker says that’s the judge’s decision. All she will do is file the report. All they can do is wait.
Guven and Melek see the worker out. Guven tells her that they are planning a small celebration in the evening for Melek, so she can make new friends and get used to her new home. He invites the social worker and adds that Melek will also play the violin for everyone. What?! Melek interjects, I haven’t played in a long time. I forgot how. The important thing is that you try, Guven tells her. I will be at your side. When we are together, nothing can stop us. The worker accepts the invite and leaves.
Guven tells Melek he doesn’t want her to say a single word to contradict him. Respect your grandfather. If I say you will play the violin, you will do it. You better make the effort. He calls for Madame to start the classes at once and walks away. Melek is feeling cheated. He made a promise, he said he would take me to the mansion…
Dudu and Ahmet wait at a clinic. Dudu worries about getting home before evening. She raises a fuss. Ahmet gets up to try and speed things along. They take him in. Dudu gets a call from Yahya and she starts to panic. He’s calling to check in and see if she needs anything. No, she doesn’t. He hears a PA announcement in the background. You’re in the hospital, he asks, did something happen to my son?
She thinks fast. No, I would have told you if something was wrong. So what’s with the voice I heard, Yahya asks? I came with Ela. She had a bad migraine. I took her to the hospital. Yahya says she should have called him and he would have come. I didn’t want to bother you, she replies, I knew you were very busy. Dudu asks Yahya not to say anything about this. It’s not really a migraine, it’s a gynecological problem. [yeah, only it’s Dudu’s gynecological problem]
Ahmet comes out to the lobby and sees Dudu on the phone. Dudu tells Yahya that Ela will be embarrassed if she finds out she told. Yahya says ok. End call. Ahmet smirks, the most important thing in a healthy relationship is honesty. Dudu fires back, idiot, I’m in this mess because of you. Don’t you dare make fun. She warns he’s playing with fire. I lie because I don’t want Yayha to dirty his hands with your disgusting blood. [where have we heard this one before?] I don’t want you near me or Yahya.
Nedim reports to Halise. They are at the hospital in Aydin, getting a paternity test. Is that woman crazy, Halise exclaims, she’s about to ruin everything! I don’t know, Nedim replies, Dudu said they will be back before evening. He waits for his next orders. She tells Nedim to intercept Ahmet after he drops off Dudu and bring him to the warehouse. He and I have a lot to talk about. He thought my son’s future wife was on her own, but he was wrong.
Mavi’s rented herself a jeep. Bora admires it. She would have rather gotten a moto but she doesn’t know how to ride. Bora says he could teach her. Do you know how to ride a bicycle? Good, he replies, it will be much easier to learn then. He asks her if she looked at the house for rent. Yep and she didn’t like it so she will keep looking. She imagined a nice peaceful beachfront place.
Elvan walks up and sees Bora and Mavi chatting. Mavi asks how the social services visit went. Elvan’s looking down. She says, let’s see if they choose the French nanny and a rich man or a home filled with love for the girl. I’m afraid that the bad people always end up with their heads held up high.
Mavi shifts the subject to Elvan’s store. When is the opening? Elvan isn’t in the mood to work. Bora jumps in and says Mavi is right, you have to continue to move ahead. Don’t worry, we will help you. We are your neighbors. You need advertising. We will help you open the store. Are you part of the team, Elvan? He puts his hand in. Then Mavi does. Elvan hesitantly adds hers. Do we agree? Anlaşmastik mi?
Elvan agrees but first she’d like to get Melek back. Mavi asks about Sancar. He’s sad, Elvan replies. He tries to see his daughter and went to Guven’s house. He went to Guven’s, Mavi asks? Elvan nods. Mavi is not pleased and drives off. Bora tells Elvan that Mavi fell in love. With who, Elvan asks? Don’t you see, he says, it’s obvious she’s in love with your BIL.
Elvan breaks into a big smile. Really?! Then Elvan says, I don’t know what to tell you. I don’t know what love is. It’s Bora’s turn to smile. Come, he says. Where, Elvan asks? My café. Bora is ready to write the word of the day on the board. It’s your turn, he says to Elvan. Elvan has no idea about stuff like this.
He tells her, write this: “Love is not visible to the eyes, but to the heart. Only by feeling will you know.” Go ahead, write it. She stares at him. He gives her the chalk. Elvan starts writing. She asks how to spell a word. Then she misspells “to the heart”, “galbe” instead of “kalbe”. But she’s spelling it using local pronunciation. [who says dizis aren’t as educational as TNs?] Bora corrects her saying, don’t write in Bodrum, write in Turkish. We speak Turkish in Bodrum, she replies. Not exactly he says. She finishes and he tells her to draw a heart. They cut Elvan objecting to the heart. She stomps off, Bora smiles.
Ahmet drops off Dudu. More snarky stuff between the two. Wait till we get the results, Ahmet tells her. Dudu has no doubt about the results. Dudu goes inside and Nedim gets out of a van parked nearby. He calls to Ahmet and asks if he can help him move some heavy furniture. Sure, why not, Ahmet says, I’m in a good mood. I’m getting my woman back. Don’t be so sure, Nedim replies as he knocks Ahmet out with a metal bar and loads him in the van.
Yahya is finished with work and checks in with Dudu. He’s on his way home. Necdet spots Yahya leaving and walks over to him. Necdet tells him that Huseyin told him that he saw Dudu at the hospital and he hopes it’s nothing bad. Yahya explains it was Dudu’s friend that wasn’t well. Ah, Necdet says, that explains why she was in Aydin. She was visiting her friend. Aydin, Yayha asks, she went to a hospital in another town? That’s what Huseyin said, Necdet replies.
Yayha thinks this is strange. But the friend had a gynecological problem and maybe that’s why. Necdet says he doesn’t think it was that kink of problem. Huseyin said she was with a man. I thought that man was you. Yahya speeds off. Uh oh… Necdet says people will start rumors.
Bora visits Elvan’s store. He tells her she needs to plan a grand opening. You know what we could do? We will take beautiful pictures and create a social media account. He hands Elvan a jar and asks her about it. She starts to explain and he starts to record. She realizes he’s recording her and gets upset. Erase that! Nope. He hands her another jar. Tell me about this one.
Elvan pulls a couple of markers off the shelf. Stop recording! These are Melek’s. Elvan is sad. I wonder what my beautiful girl is doing now? I want to see my Melek. My MIL is right, she tells Bora, I was so busy here, that I completely ignored the girl. I let my family down! Why are you blaming yourself, he asks? I’ve seen with my own eyes how you take care of the store and Melek at the same time. Bora says, let’s go. She asks, where? Let’s go to my house.
Really? You’re inviting me to your house? Yes, he replies, I’ll take you to my house. Elvan exclaims, “tövbe, tövbe” literally, “repent”, in response to Bora saying a bad/shameful thing. He doesn’t think it’s bad. I’ll post your video on the internet, he tells her and I’ll ruin you, he jokes as he walks out. She shouts after him, come back here! Don’t you dare humiliate me! She chases him.
And we are out.
SpanProf, your original comment has been reposted by Rgv Chick where you originally posted it.
Yes, Efrain was naturally devastated by Masha's death. While he will likely never recover completely, at least he has his five grandchildren, Victoria and Nico and of course Ursula...
Thank you for all of your kind words, they are greatly appreciated. We had so much fun...
Diana
Thanks, Diana, Rgv Chick, Darcy, and Doris. I’ve enjoyed Soltero a lot, but what I enjoyed the most were your recaps of this colorful tale. Muchisimas gracias for covering this TN!
Super coverage of the finale, Diana and Rgv Chick. Loved all the detail on the costumes.
El Calamal has a conversion in prison. And then commits suicide? Seems to me he would've wanted to keep living to write JuanDi and follow his achievements from afar. Maybe his fellow prisoners got sick of him and made it look like suicide.
Yep, that was some s l o w running by everyone to catch up with Masha. Oh well, she would've always been a threat...
Love all the couples' endings. Nice to see some mature ones for a change. Nikolai was a surprise with the social work, but I get a kick out of him so I'm just glad they brought him back.
Biggest disappointment: Padre Domingo's dancing. They should've made him a really good dancer or a really lousy, jerky dancer, but it was meh.
Niecie, thank you so much.
"s l o w running" had me smiling away.
I've thought about EC a bit today (not that I wanted to), but I am starting to think he was murdered. His fellow prisoners were in jail because of him and perhaps his rather cheery repentance was a constant irritant. Something to consider.
I'll miss our group and hope we will all be watching together sometime soon.
Diana
Diana: I will be tuning in on the upcoming Telenovela "Mujer de Naide" with Livia Brito & Marcus Ornellas which I assume will be replacing "Mi Fortuna Es Amarte".
Dear Dondi, thank you so much for giving us every detail , including missing Turkish dialogue . I have been watching "Kurulus" in Turkish with Turkish subtitles and seeing and hearing " hadi. " I assumed it means " Let's go" or " hurry. "
This episode was so hard to watch. All those questions, and Guven and Halize both trying to run the show and be large and in charge . We didn't get much of San or Mav. ( Why does Mav always look like she is working on a fishing boat or about to hike the Appalachian Trail?)
My heart breaks, for Melek and Sancar. Hey, ask Melek who she wants to live with .
I like Bora. He is just what Elvan needs . She needs, someone to give her confidence and acceptance . It was interesting learning that Bodrum has a regional accent kind of like the Delco accent in " Mare of Easttown " ( which sounds like my BIL, nieces and nephews , Kevin Bacon, and Bradley Cooper.)
Thanks, Susanlynn.
We know that Sancar won’t give up. And now he has Mavi by his side.
They are always using the word “hadi” I think it’s really supposed to be spelled “haydi’. It means “come on” or “let’s go”. I’ve heard hadi be and “hadi gel” used that way, too. Also, hadi ya - oh, really, hadi bakalım – we’ll see, hadi çık - get out! Çabuk means “hurry”. End today’s Turkish lesson.
Dondi, thanks for the Turkish lesson . It is a fascinating language , and I have heard a lot of different languages over the years.
Dondi thanks so much for the recap..
As for Mavi dressing like that; I just assumed she had stacks of Turkish Lands End gift certificates. No really in her flashbacks she was dressed much more business woman. So probably escaping the prior life.
I am glad Sanjar is latching on to Mavi, she is so much more mature than Nare. Not to slam Nare cause she was so damaged.
Also that guy that does everything for Halise. He is her Igor to her Dr. Frankenstein.
FEV
Thanks, Dondi, I enjoyed reading the recap! Poor Malek looks like a different child the way they dress her and do her hair. And she is not happy or loved. Her teacher didn’t even know what play was!
When Halise wanted Nediun to bring Ahmet to her I thought he would just ask him, not knock him out and throw him in the back of the van!
I enjoyed the back and forth with the social worker, but hate to hear Guven’s lies.
Don’t really care what happens with Yaya and Dudu. But it seems like Halise doesn’t want Dudu to find out that Yaya’s not the father. I thought she would hold it over her and make her life miserable!
Liz
A Mexican con-artist (Itatí Cantoral) dedicated to cons like trying to sell the head of Pancho Villa to a Japanese business man but then deciding to pull one over on a grief stricken rich man from the USA (Juan Soler) but ends up finding him . . . attractive . . . what is not to like? If I only had time to watch . . . This looks like fun.
Jarifa, I watched last night .The actors seemed to be struggling with the English. I wil see if it holds my interest . I noticed some familiar faces.

Part 1 of 3
1968, Mexico City: Vicente and Felipe walked over toward the Palacio de Bellas Artes in a state of inebriation. Vicente wished his mother were alive so he could tell her all about it. Felipe reminded him he had a wife. They talked about eventually performing there. They were arrested while relieving themselves near the building's gate.
1998: Gerardo caught Rodrigo in his study, touching a foot-tall stack of banknotes. He chased him out of his study, then put the cash in the safe. He was hostile and aggressive about it with some hurtful words.
1968: Vicente and Felipe were put in a cell with a third man, Federico, who had been arrested for “a problem with a young woman's husband.” They laughed, agreeing that women were their perdition.
1998: Refugio took a walk outside with Gerardo. Gerardo complained about the boy's behavior, asking why his father insisting on him being there. He referred to him (Rodrigo's) as a snot-nosed brat and called his mother a whore. Refugio looked bothered by this.
1968: Vicente was unable to sleep in the cell. He talked about his mother. Federico told him to not get bogged down in memories. He handed him a song he wrote: “Hoy platique con mi gallo.” Vicente and Felipe began singing. The fourth man in the cell woke up, not annoyed. The cops stopped over to listen during their coffee break.
1998: V.Sr and Alejandro had an argument about how to handle the press and its enquiries. Alejandro wanted to be more open with them and was critical about how Refugio has been virtually silenced. He told his father he will do as he thinks best, telling him that this was his life and his career and that he would prefer to be dead than to be like him, which provoked V.Sr to hit his son. Hard. Refugio ran in, telling him he should not hit his son. V.Sr said that Alejandro was disrespectful. Alejandro told him that if he is ashamed of him, that's how it is. From that day forward his life and career will be “far away from you.” He then walked out. Refugio went to Vicente and said “He is a good bo and he loves you.” She left the room. Vicente looked out the window, knowing he had been reproached. He looked sad.
2020: Dalia sang along with music playing on her cell. Refugio came by and they went to the living room. Dalia poured two glasses of wine. Refugio tried to decline “I don't drink. Vicente doesn't like it.” Dalia asked if she had never done anything that annoyed him. Refugio shook her head. Dalia suggested they drink to her right to speak. They drank some wine; Refugio needed encouragement to do so. She finally said “I live in my husband's shadow. I always helped him. I endured that. Now that Vicente and I are coming to the end of our lives I feel like I didn't make much of mine. I have no achievements. and the worst of this is that I feel happy and I don't think I ever was.” She began to cry.

1968: At the recording studio the executive told Vicente people are talking about him. He had bailed him out of jail and told him he needed to straighten up. Radio stations were asking why Vicente hadn't recorded a disc. He said that now they will. Vicente and Felipe were all for it. He told Vicente he will be a success, but he needed to find his own style.
1998: Alejandro and Refugio talked about his difficulties with his father. He told her that since he was a child his father had tried to make a carbon copy of himself in him. He was not on board with that. She told him that this was a generational thing, he came from older times. But that was Alejandro's entire point. They had different ideas about what it means to be a man. He had no need to swagger about on that and didn't understand why that was such a big deal. She told him she loved him and speculated that he sometimes provoked V.Sr but he said No. He preferred to go his own way rather than spend his life being controlled.
2020: Refugio felt better. Dalia told her that since her childhood her wings had been clipped. She said that Japanese husbands say “Fish cannot fly.” Refugio felt that she had too many things to forgive and that her husband was not grateful enough for her sacrifices. Dalia asked if Rodrigo was among that list of things. Refugio flashed back to Gerardo's objection to the attempt at adopting him because “he was not family” and he didn't want to give up any of his future inheritance. When she told him that Alejandra was very unhappy at his behavior he said “Alejandra is not my sister.” Refugio insisted that she was, which provoked Gerardo to say that if she is the daughter of his father, that meant he cheated on her. She left the study in disgust. He shouted “The only children of my father are Vicente, Alejandro, and I. Los tres potrillos,” before downing another shot of tequila.
Dalia told Refugio that caring for the hijo natural of her husband had to have been very difficult. She didn't want to think about it, but Refugio admitted that it was.
Gerardo was also trying to talk his father into entering a hospital. Don Vicente refused, saying he wanted to be home when going over his past and other issues and to face his past mistakes. He had contacted Dalia for this purpose and to record all this. Gerardo continued to object to the interview, saying that this won't keep him from purgatory. Don Vicente told him to leave him to his way of dealing with it.
Dalia tried to get Refugio to confront the same. There was so much she had never done and wanted to do, like learning English. She had never had the courage to do any of this. Dalia told her that the fish could fly freely. They clinked glasses saying “Cheers.” Dalia raised the issue of Mexican men thinking of their wives as escopeta. This led into a conversation about machismo and Dalia telling her that this is not how it is now. Dalia encouraged Refugio to let go and they danced to something that sounded very 60s.
Alejandro performed in the same palenque as his father, dedicating his performance to his father. He credited him for bringing him to music so he could please the audience and get smiles from all the beautiful women. He introduced his children, including Alex and his first grandchild. He and Alex sang together.

1968: Vicente had recorded Federico's song, but the producer said “Nobody wants to hear songs about roosters.” He was handed a new song to record but was told that his style and persona don't just come naturally and that it needed effort. He was doubtful at first, but finally accepted this.
Felipe and Federico told him that he needed to differentiate himself from Pedro Infante, Javier Solis, and the others. Lucha Villa came in to help and he remembered the first time he had heard her sing. She had them follow her into a palenque and talked about connecting with the audience and that “Music is loved because it transports your dreams and memories.” He then thought about his father's words “We are earth.” He then decided to return to Guadalajara despite the other guys' advice against it. “To become the artist I want to, I have to go home.” Lucha watched him exit and nodded.
Refugio was definitely resenting their long separations. He had his work and she had the children. It was like they were not part of each other's lives. She still loved him. Even as he said she would not concern herself with what happened outside of her home. He told her they should live in the present. They kissed and looked as though they were going to desecrate the kitchen counter.
2020: Refugio thanked Dalia. She actually looked happy. The two hugged.
1968: Vicente felt alone trying to figure himself out. He and the other guys walked over old ground. They asked about his parents and he had no real wish to have his father back. He talked about how he had abandoned the family. They came to a ruin and he remembered his father telling him to “feel the song.” He visited his old home, the house where his mother died. Now vacant with sheets draped over everything except the bed. He thought about his mother. His friends left him alone to think. He began uncovering furniture and found a children's book. He remembered his father reading it to him. He then found and read an old letter from him telling him to not become like him. Not to share his vices. He then allowed the letter to drop into the pond.
My apologies, amigos, but as of now #9 was not posted either on Univision's site or on Spectrum. If it turns up in the next day or so I will watch it and provide bullet points of events.
More later.
Been catching up (I'm on Ep 7) and want to thank you VERY VERY MUCH for the dated segments.
I must say, even with the dates, it's been incredibly confusing to watch and I don't understand why the writers decided to do it this way.
I watched it and was amused. We can hear the bad English accents, but this was made for a Mexican audience so the people who watch telenovela can't tell the difference. I have seen American actors speaking Spanish and my husband will always laugh cause he can tell.
Only other complaint is 99 DNA share. He should know better, she is a fraternal twin so it would be 50 share. Of course it is fake but he should know better
#9 is still not posted. We went through a two week period of no On Demand updates from Univision and that drove me BSC. Considering the note on which #8 ended this is really annoying me. I guess I will have to leave my Codenames games at 10PM for the rest of this series just in case in order to keep providing the recaps for this. Fortunately, there are only 30 episodes total.
I have to watch them twice to catch everything.
The later segments of this episode seem to be mostly in 2020. The dates should have been on screen, but I looked up a few things in order to assign them. Alejandro Sr became a grandfather at the young age of 50. I guess that's why he's now allowing his hair to be white rather than dyeing it back to black.
I am wondering whether the actor playing the mature Alejandro is actually singing. Apart from that the entire cast is doing very well.
I just watched last night's episode , and I am anxious to read Dondi's recap and Her reactions.
Mavi seems much more pragmatic than Nare, probably due to her successful career in business. She is a problem solver and takes action instead of stewing and fretting . Sanjar needs someone like Mavi. I think they could help each other heal and survive their heartaches . Injured souls seem out each other .
"I live in my husband's shadow. I always helped him. I endured that. Now that Vicente and I are coming to the end of our lives I feel like I didn't make much of mine. I have no achievements. and the worst of this is that I feel happy and I don't think I ever was.” She began to cry".
So powerful Urban. So devastating.
So well written.

Mavi finds Sancar on a stakeout at Guven’s house. What are you doing here, he asks. Same as you, she replies. Sancar is frustrated. He tells Mavi [Turkish] the devil is telling me, “break in. Take your daughter. We will rent a boat and sail wherever she wants.” Don’t be stupid, Mavi says. Why not, Sancar counters, everyone else leaves when they feel like it. Don’t I have a right? Is that bad?
Don’t say this nonsense, Mavi replies, you have a chance to get custody of your daughter, understand? Don’t waste it. You will lose if you enter there. Sancar just wants to see his daughter. I hoped she would come out into the garden, he says. I’m very worried about her. I just want to know she is okay.
Mavi opens the door and Sancar asks where she’s going. Didn’t you say you wanted to see Melek, she asks? I’m going to get closer, maybe I can see her from a distance. What if that psycho sees you, Sancar asks? What can he do, Mavi replies, I have nothing to lose.
Mavi makes her way into the yard. She follows the sound of a violin. Melek is practicing by the open window. Her psycho grandfather starts shouting, critizicing her technique. He’s very harsh.
Mavi takes this in and it triggers a flashback. Sedat is drinking and is getting irate over a football match on TV. Ekim wants to play her flute for him but he has no interest. He gets angry at her interruption, grabs the flute and throws it. The poor girl is crushed. Mavi asks Ekim to come play for her. End flash.Mavi continues to listen to Guven berate Melek. She wipes her face, then runs off.
Sancar is pacing outside the truck. Sancar anxiously asks if she saw Melek. Is she okay? Mavi fibs to prevent Sancar from exploding. She reports she saw Melek, she’s okay and she’s playing the violin. “çok şükür”, Sancar responds. [Translates to thank goodness, or thank God -“Allah'a çok şükür”] Ok then, if you are feeling better, we should go, Mavi says, better if they don’t see you.
Sancar tells Mavi that he found out about the party Guven is having for Melek. He’s upset he has to leave Melek with that damn psycho. Mavi tells him to go to work and keep her informed. Sancar moves in a little closer and smiles, thank you, thank you for everything.
Slight cut at the beginning: Bora takes Elvan to his “house” via moped. Allah, Allah, Allah, she exclaims as they drive up. She attempts a shaky dismount. Bismillah, bismillah, bismillah! Bora grabs to steady her and helps her off with the helmet. They are on a deserted stretch of sandy shore on a big lake. Where are we, Elvan asks? You’ve never been here before, Bora replies? No, she says as she admires the view. They say a person doesn’t travel around in the places they live, he tells her, and you are just like that.
I guess that’s so, Elvan answers, I was born and raised here but I’ve never heard of this beautiful place. Bora offers to take her on a walk around. There are lots of beautiful places you will love. Elvan gets shy. Bora asks, what do you think of my house? Bora lives in a van, down by the lake! [lol, made me think of Matt Foley, who lived in a van down by the river! Notice that Bora is wearing a Rick and Morty t-shirt?]
Bora says this is his modest home. He slides the door open for Elvan to get inside. Ha, ha, no way she’s getting in there. Bora tells her not to be afraid, I won’t bite. Elvan slowly approaches and peeks inside. It’s small, she notes. But it’s nice, Bora says, should we enter, yes? Help me prepare dinner. He starts to take folding chairs out. Elvan tells him she should go. Why, he says, you can go after dinner. Relax. He places the chairs side by side and takes out a folding table. He invites Elvan to sit and enjoy the scenery. Elvan smiles.
And Elvan’s smile continues into the night. Dinner is done and Bora brings out a plate of fruit. He offers her more wine. I don’t want it, she responds, you said one glass but I already drank two. [I think she’s buzzed.] Elvan notes the time and says she has to go. Bora objects, she hasn’t even had any fruit yet. Is it a sin to enjoy your day? Elvan chuckles and answers, no. Then she looks concerned. They must be worried, she says.
Bora asks her to sit. He has a question. Why do you continue living with them? What are you saying, she asks in reply. Bora wonders why she is so surprised at the question because she is divorced. Why do you live in that guy’s house? Isn’t it strange for you? Isn’t it better to have your own home? Or do you plan on living in that mansion the rest of your life? What can I do, Elvan says, it’s impossible for me to go.
Nothing is impossible, Bora tells her. You’re a strong woman. You have your own store. You don’t need them to get ahead but you haven’t realized it. And what should I do, Elvan jokes, buy a van like yours and come to live on the shore? They laugh. Why not, Bora answers, we will be neighbors. Neighbors at the store and neighbors here. They laugh some more. It would be nice, Bora says. Elvan stops laughing. It would, she asks? Yes of course, Bora replies. Come on, let’s drink a little more. Elvan downs the wine in her glass and Bora pours more. [Hmm… Elvan may be ready to consider her possibilities]
Dudu sets the dinner table. Yahya quietly enters the house. She welcomes him, all smiles. How is Ela, he asks, is she okay? Yes, Dudu replies, they gave her a shot. Yahya asks why she left Ela alone and didn’t invite her over. Dudu claims she suggested it but Ela didn’t want to come. Yahya grabs a plate out of Dudu’s hand and smashes it on the floor. Stop lying, he shouts, don’t fool me! [he’s channeling Sancar] I’m not an idiot, Dudu! She is stunned. Tell me, why were you with a man at the hospital in Aydin?! What the hell were you doing with him?!
Back to Bora’s happy home. He’s got a fire going on the beach. Elvan sings along to the radio. [Do you think she had enough to drink? ] Bora puts a blanket around her because it’s getting chilly. She’s startled. You know something, she admits, I’m afraid of you. Why would you be afraid of me, he asks? She tells him, you will break my heart. Bora smiles, and how do you know that? Because I know, Elvan replies, I can see the future in my crystal ball. They laugh.
The laughs stop and Elvan looks sad. He bends next to her chair and fixes her blanket. But you haven’t left yet, he notes, you’re still here. They are very close, face to face. Elvan tells him, I don’t know how to leave if they don’t ask me to go. Bora moves in and gives her a tiny kiss on the lips. Elvan is like a deer in the headlights. “Gitme”, Bora says (don’t go). Elvan is frozen. Bora smiles and waits for his answer.
Ahmet is tied to a chair at the warehouse. He wakes and looks around. Who the hell are you, he asks, what do you want? No one answers. He tries to break free. Nedim is outside waiting for Halise. He tells her that Ahmet is inside as ordered. Ahmet is still shouting questions as Halise enters. You’re asking the wrong people, Halise tells him. My men only follow my orders. Who are you, Ahmet asks, what do you want from me?
Halise turns to Nedim. I told you he wouldn’t have any idea. This shameless one doesn’t know whose family he’s messing with. [Turkish] if he had known, he wouldn’t have bothered my DIL without first uttering the Shahada (Islamic profession of faith. If able, a person will say it before dying.)
Ahmet understands now. If the problem is Dudu, then listen to me, he says. It’s important info. Dudu and I have… Halise shuts him up. I didn’t give you permission to speak. Did she trick you, too, Ahmet asks? Halise turns to Nedim, didn’t I tell him not to talk? Nedim belts Ahmet. Halise gives Nedim permission to break Ahmet’s face if he interrupts again.
Halise tells Ahmet, you don’t know Dudu and she doesn’t know you. Forget you went to Aydin to have a paternity test done. It’s better that you forget about her forever. If you don’t believe me, go to the hospital tomorrow and check if they have the samples. You will get a big surprise. Now you are going to return to Aydin immediately and never contact Dudu again. Understand? Ahmet understands. And to make sure he does, Halise orders Nedim to beat the crap out of Ahmet before dropping him off. Wow, Halise even stops to listen to the beating before she walks out the door. Halise has gone gangster grannie.
It’s party time! And what the heck is Melek wearing? She sits on the couch while guests mingle. Guven’s new best friend, Muge, goes over to her. Melek tells her she misses her father. Is he in the mansion, could you speak with him? Muge assures Melek that her father is alright and that he misses her a lot, too. I promise you will see him soon.
Melek says she knows it’s her fault her father is sad. I only wanted to see my mother, she explains, that’s why I ran away. None of this is your fault, Muge replies. Your mom and dad are adults. You’re wellbeing is what’s most important. Melek says she knows what’s going on. I know my mother is not coming back. I don’t have a mother and now I lost my father. You’re wrong, Muge tells her, your father will never abandon you.
The scene switches to outside, where guards are checking guests at the entrance. A costumed figure walks up. It’s Harley Quinn, aka Mavi. [I have to question Harley Quinn’s appropriateness for this party, but, okay]
Sancar shows up at Elvan’s store. It’s dark and locked. He wonders where everyone is. [they cut him going to Bora’s café first.] Sancar takes out his phone.
Elvan stands by a tree and dreams, while Bora watches her. Elvan’s phone rings, it’s Sancar Abi. Elvan panics. She shouts at Bora. Shut the music! Shut it! What happened, he asks? Shut the radio, Sancar is calling! Elvan answers and lies, I went shopping. We hear her say, they are closed, too? What a coincidence. I don’t know where Bora and Mavi are [only partially true] They could have gone to deliver orders. Bora smiles as he listens to Elvan fib. I know it’s late, Elvan says apologetically, I’ll come home quickly.
Mavi enters the party. She manages to avoid Guven but not Madame, who tells her it’s not time yet and asks her to leave the room. Guven, with the social worker by his side, announces to the guests that Melek is going to play something on the violin. Applause.
Sancar calls Kavruk. Mavi has disappeared. So did Bora and Elvan. Kavruk says something we don’t hear. Allah, Allah, Sancar replies, I’ll go to Guven’s house.
Melek goes to her room. Harley Quinn has been waiting there for her. Who are you, Melek asks? As Mavi comes closer and Melek recognizes her. Mavi? Mavi shushes her with her hand. Why did you come dressed like this, Melek asks? I did it for you, Mavi replies. But I told you to leave, Melek says, what are you doing here? Where are you going to take me?
I think you are very sad in this house, Mavi says. Melek confirms and says she’s depressed. I don’t want to stay here. But if I go with you, my grandfather will be angry. He changes a lot when he gets upset. I’m not afraid of anyone, Mavi tells her, if you want to leave here, now’s the time. How? Sly smile on Mavi.
Here’s the plan. We see Mavi come down the stairs with Melek, who has changed her party clothes and has her face painted. They sneak away.
Tahsin tells Guven he found a lot of dirt on Mavi. She has a dark past. He hands over a folder. Guven takes a look and likes what he sees.
Mavi and Melek make it out to the yard and over a short wall.
Guven goes to Melek’s room and sees she’s not there. He shouts for Madame. A frantic search for Melek begins.
Mavi and Melek make it to the jeep. Melek asks Mavi if she’s going to take her to Sancar. Mavi just smiles at her and tells her to get in the car. [This is the end of Turkish ep 42] They drive and wipe the makeup off. No one is following them. Melek asks, where’s my dad and when will he come? Melek, you father doesn’t know, Mavi says, I didn’t tell him. Why, Melek asks, my father is going to be very worried about me. Please take me back to him. Mavi explains that if her father knew about this he would be in big trouble. Mavi isn’t worried about herself and asks Melek to trust her.
Sancar is by Guven’s house. He hears them searching for Melek. Guven’s men cross his path. What are you doing here, one asks? Sancar wants to know what they are looking for. Guven runs up, shouting for Melek. Where is Melek, he shouts at Sancar. What did you to to Melek? Sancar is in shock and Guven continues to yell for his granddaughter.
Sancar asks, Melek isn’t with you? Guven has no time to answer before Sancar rushes him. Sancar is held back by a couple of guys. How could you lose my daughter?! Where is my daughter?! Sancar tries to break free. Guven says he’s called the police and tells his guys not to let Sancar go until they arrive. Sancar shouts that the police won’t be able to save Guven from what he will do to him.
Muge comes running out. Enough! What are you doing? Why are you wasting time arguing like children when you ought to be looking for Melek? Muge thinks Melek might be heading back to the Efeoglu mansion. Sancar makes a call and Gulsiye answers. Is Melek there, he asks? Gulsiye is confused. Sancar asks to speak to his mother. Gulsiye tells him Halise isn’t home. She asks if something happened to Melek. Sancar tells her to go out and look and let him know if Melek comes to the mansion. Sancar wonders where his daughter could be. Wow, he looks at Guven with such hatred.
The police have arrived and start investigating. The security cameras weren’t working so there’s no video. Sancar accuses Guven of sending Melek abroad. Don’t be ridiculous, Guven fires back, I organized a party. It was going well and I was happy. Guven wants to file a complaint against Sancar, thinking that he or one of his men have kidnapped Melek. Sancar explodes, you dare to say this again?! He has to be held back from attacking Guven. See, Guven says, he’s a violent man. He tried to attack me! You should be thankful I’m showing respect for your age, Sancar responds.
A cop asks why the cameras were off. Guven has no idea. He says he just moved in, but the former owner is here. Muge is on the phone asking a hospital contact to her if Melek is brought in. Muge says that the cameras hadn't been working for a long time and she’s sure Guven did not kidnap Melek. I was here during the party, and I know Guven wouldn’t have had time to plan something like this. Melek probably ran away again.
Sancar is upset and accuses Muge of being on Guven’s side. Don’t be ridiculous, she replies, I’m more interested in finding Melek than choosing sides. She tells the men, do you want to lose time fighting? If he didn’t take my daughter in the first place, Sancar says, this wouldn’t be happening now. Sancar has to be held back yet again. The cop says they have all the information they need now. We will continue this at the station. You better pray I find my daughter, Sancar warns Guven.
Faruk arrives as Sancar is leaving. He asks if Guven did this. Sancar says it doesn’t seem so. Faruk thinks that means Melek will show up soon. Maybe she went to the mansion. Sancar says he called and no one has seen her. Kavruk isn’t around, neither is Mavi or my mother. What is going on, Sancar shouts. Faruk repeats that Melek will be found soon. That’s not enough, Sancar responds, after what happened here, my daughter can’t stay in this house!
And where is Selim, Sancar asks, did he find that man? Faruk says he found the man and is trying to convince him He will be here tomorrow. He should have been here already, Sancar says, if he would have been brought on time, none of this would have happened. Sancar heads off to the police station.
They cut Guven firing Madame. She is to leave immediately.
One of Guven’s guys was lurking and overheard Sancar and Faruk. He warns Guven that Sancar is plotting something. He’s not sure what it is, but he’s bringing a man here. He said the name Selim and Sancar said if he were here, he would get his daughter back. Find out who he is, Guven orders. Guven asks about Mavi. The guy says they’ve been following her. The café is closed and Mavi has left the hostel. Guven gives orders to follow both Sancar and Mavi.
Dudu is trying desperately to explain herself to Yahya. Yahya, I promise, this is nothing like what you are thinking! I know I made a mistake but there’s nothing between me and that man! Ok then, he replies, then what were you doing with this man in Aydin? Explain it! She makes up a whopper of a lie. Ahmet is Ela’s ex. I introduced them to each other. I know I made a mistake, but listen, I didn’t imagine it would come to this. I swear it wasn’t my intention to lie to you.
Yahya wants to know why she was at the hospital. Ela and Ahmet met because of me. Ahmet was married, they slept together, and Ela got pregnant. What Ahmet, he asks, what pregnancy? I swear I’m telling the truth, Dudu whines, why don’t you believe me? We went to Aydin so Ela could abort her baby! While she was in the operating room, Ahmet and I were together. This was a very difficult day! Ela had to give up her baby, meanwhile I carry our son in my womb. And now you accuse me!
Yahya is not totally convinced yet. He wants Dudu’s phone. Call Ela, he demands, tell her to come. And when she comes, she better tell me the exact same story! Dudu objects. This is a secret, she will be ashamed! You told me you hadn’t seen Ahmet since university, Yahya reminds her. When did this happen? He divorced his wife! Why did she have an abortion! Dudu says she kept Ela’s secret so no one would find out. She trusted me and I couldn’t say anything. I don’t have friends and I couldn’t lose Ela, too.
Call Ela right now, Yahya orders, or you will leave out that door and I assure that you are going to lose a lot more! What you’re saying doesn’t make sense! Call now! Dudu calls Ela and asks her to come over. It’s an emergency.
Nedim along with the rest of Halise’s thugs drag Ahmet out of the warehouse. Halise has been waiting in her car. Now you know what you have to do, she tells Ahmet. She instructs Nedim to bring Ahmet back where he came from. Don’t make me come back here, she warns Ahmet, [Turkish] I won’t be so merciful next time. Oooh… we see Guven’s man taking pictures of this. The man calls Guven and informs him that Halise’s men just beat up a guy. Halise threatened him and left. Guven tells him to find that man and bring him.
And we are out.
Dear Dondi, thank you for another excellent recap . I posted a comment last night , but it seems to have disappeared .
I noted that Mavi seemed to be dressed as a pirate at the beginning of the episode when she snuck in to see Melek. . She reminded me of Captain Hook's main swabby Sneed . However , she decided to change into the Harley Quinn costume to crash Guven's bash. I am trying to recall where he got money . Isn't he gambling anymore ?
I have no idea what Mavi's plan is or how it will help Melek's situation . Guven is demented .
Also, on the demented list is Halise who has morphed into a job boss.
I like Bora , and I think that he would be good for Elvan and help her get out from under Halise's thumb and move on with her life.
I noticed that the show was not in when I checked at 1130. Why does Unimas keep moving this show around ?
Thanks, Dondi, another show packed with surprises!
Mavi always was so put together. I don’t know why she kidnapped Malek. My thought is she saw her so unhappy and wanted to rescue her. But what will she do now? And I’m wondering what dark past she has. Makes me think she took Malek for her own reasons. Maybe to replace her own daughter. If she still has her daughters passport she could take her anywhere.
Don’t know what Halise is thinking. Kidnapping Ahmet and having him beat up. She’s really determined to keep Yaya convinced he fathered a child.
I do like Bora and Elvan together. Just wish he had the looks of a leading man! And he is a nice guy.
Susanlynn, I just checked my recordings and don’t have one recorded from last night! I checked the guide for tonight and soccer is on from 9:30 until midnight. Hope the show comes back soon. What a time to leave us hanging!
Liz
Thank you, patio!
Does Mavi have her own agenda in taking Melek? Tune in tonight to find out!
Now Melek has escaped under Guven’s watch. What will social services say about that?
I think Tuba has great style no matter what she’s wearing. She’s a very beautiful woman. And she’s a great partner for Engin.
Guven seems to have kicked his gambling habit. I can’t remember exactly now, but he wormed his way into legit business with Kman. He used some of his foreign connections to get funding.
Bora might not have the looks of a leading man, but he’s very charming, has a cute smile and he’s a great support for Elvan.
Halise disgusts me as much as Guven does. They are cut from the same cloth. Toxic. I wish Sancar never let his mother back in the mansion.
This will be late and probably with some detail missing because Univision and consequently Spectrum have not posted the episode. I will be going out to shop before the rain begins here so I will type my notes when I return. If the episode is posted then I will watch it again to catch what my notes don't have.
My apologies.
I don't think the show is on tonight. I wonder why they keep bouncing this show around . I am enjoying it, but finding it is confusing .
I hope Mavi thought this plan through and it San gets Melek back . What is she up to?
You're right Susanlynn, it looks like futbol is on again tonight. But I think they intend to keep it on at 11p. It's back on Friday night.
Thank you for the great recap.
Yeah Sanjar totally needs to move beyond the Fred Flintstone mind set.
What does he not get that spending the rest of his life in prison does not really benefit his daughter?
I don't know what Mavi's plan is but touring Europe as carnies well not the worst plan. Don't most kids wanna run away and join a circus? Eleven could join them hawking her products. I am seeing a spinoff.
Guven you make me sad. He wants Melek to make him look better. Nare's 18th party was all about drunken adults.
I too am over Halise, Yahya, DuDu and the fetus.
SANJAR Fev
The brightest spot in the last episode was Bora and Elvan at Bora's " home " at the beach.
OT...Dondi, I have started a litt!e dictionary of Turkish words that I capture while I watch Kurulus in Turkish with Turkish subtitles ! I manage to get some of the short , common words. It is not an easy laNguage to understand . Arabic is much easier for me to understand and pronounce because each syllab!e has a strong ending like most Eng!ish words. I would write the words the students taught me phonetically .

Vicente exited to the wings and cried. She said a few words to the audience and brought him back out for the applause. He cried quietly as he took off his hat and bowed.
