Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #116: It Finally is the Grand Final!

(I followed the Turkish final episode to write this recap, some dialogue and scenes might be a bit different than the Telemundo version).

Part 1 of 7

The director of the orphanage thanks ReyMir for allowing the kids to dream. Rey asks the director for the name of the quiet, introverted girl. Her name is Melek (Angel). She came to the orphanage when she was very young and still remembers the trauma of her mother’s death and her father being sent to prison for domestic abuse. Several families have tried to foster her but apparently Melek is very naughty and has been returned.

Reyyan is shocked and Miran looks very uncomfortable, as he perhaps reminisces about his lonely childhood. The director says that sometimes kids act out in this manner so as not to get too attached to a family and then again be abandoned. One of the boys comes up to ask when his wish will come true? Miran asks him to show him his wish (the kid wants a car, lol) while the director tells Reyyan she is sorry if the stories of these children, particularly Melek, upset her.

Reyyan looks at Melek and says that her eyes are so beautiful, but so sad. She asks if there is anything she can do for the child. The director says that all these kids want is to be loved and accepted. Melek suddenly runs up to the board and places a blank piece of colored paper next to Miran’s wish to have a daughter. She runs off as ReyMir watch her.

ReyMir with Umut arrive at the not so Sad anymore konak. Miran is nervous seeing all the family gathered together saying with their family, one never knows what is going to happen. He notices that Reyyan has a look in her eyes and she tells him she cannot stop thinking about Melek. Apparently, he can’t either. He promises they will talk later.

They enter the sitting room where what is left of the family is gathered. Reyyan is happy to see Ayse has returned and tells Umut to let his Great-Grandmother know not to leave again. Ayse smiles and says that from here on out she will no longer be Azize or Ayse. She will only be a grandmother.

Miran says he is glad to have her back. Nasuh, with a bit of a spring in his moustache, grabs Ayse’s hand and announces that he has proposed to her and she accepted. Everyone is very happy and excited for them. Nasuh says they don’t want to waste time and will marry soon with just a small family gathering. Miran, with the support of his Uncle Cihan say that the Sadoglu’s always do things properly and now that they have taken this big step, the marriage planning will proceed as it should with great care and preparation.

Because it is unclear who belongs to the bride’s family and to the groom’s family, Miran decides that Cihan, Handan and Zehra will represent the groom and he will Reyyan will represent the bride. There is excited discussion about wedding dresses and party planning but Ayse and Nasuh look less than excited. They don’t want people making fun of them for making such a fuss at their age.

Esma visits with Ayse and asks her not to be upset that she told Cihan where to find her. Ayse is actually appreciative and tells her that Cihan said the nicest things to her. They both smile when Ayse reminds her not to call her Azize anymore. Nasuh joins them as Esma congratulates both of them. Nasuh tells her they wanted something simple but Miran is insisting on going through the whole process.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #116: It Finally is the Grand Final!
Part 2 of 7

Seyda arrives with coffee and attempts a sly tug of Nasuh’s earlobe. The old Walrus comes out and he smacks away Seyda’s hand demanding to know what the heck Seyda is doing? Seyda says that it is a custom in his village to pull the ear of the groom for good luck. Nasuh yells for him to leave as Ayse and Esma try not to double over in laughter.

ReyMir sit on the swing drinking tea. Reyyan says that Melek’s eyes reminder her of Hazar. She can relate to Melek being all alone even if she is with other children. Miran says her story touched his heart as well. Just then, he gets a call from the Security department at the Foundation. Someone is there and will not leave until they speak with ReyMir. Who is it? Miran asks.

They arrive at the Foundation to find that Melek has escaped from the orphanage. Reyyan reminds her that doing something like this is very dangerous. The security guard tells them he did contact the orphanage and let them know Melek was there. The director was going crazy trying to find her. Miran asks Melek, I know you came far to be here and you wanted to speak with us? Yes, says Melek, I know what my dream is and I put it on the board. She points to a picture of 4 stick figures. Two adults, Reyyan and Miran, plus a smaller child, Melek and a baby, Umut. ReyMir lock gazes as Reyyan hugs the very smart girl.

The next morning ReyMir still cannot stop thinking about Melek. In true Miran fashion, he takes charge and tells Reyyan to get ready. They are going to do something to rectify her situation.

Cihan meets with Nasuh who is still grousing about the fuss Miran is making regarding the wedding protocols. Cihan reminds him that ReyMir are working hard to bring the family back together. Cihan has brought his dad a black tie to wear when he properly asks for Ayse’s hand in marriage. It sounded like this is the same type of tie Nasuh gave Cihan to wear when he asked to marry Handan. Nasuh says, are you trying to get some revenge on me? Cihan says, let’s not use the word revenge anymore please. They both laugh and decide to use rematch of wills instead. Nasuh hugs Cihan on his way out and tells him that he can die happy knowing that the family is safe with Cihan.

At the orphanage, the director tells ReyMir that she explained Melek’s situation to them already. She is an antisocial child due to the trauma she has experienced. As many on the patio predicted, ReyMir express their desire to adopt her. The director gives a PSA on Turkish adoption process that requires time, health assessments and paperwork. Although initially disappointed that they couldn’t just walk out with Melek, ReyMir accept the timetable. Both are very excited.

The ladies are dressed up as Esma makes coffee for Ayse to serve while Nasuh’s “family” asks for her hand in marriage. Ayse is in disbelief that she has to do this at her age but Esma is firm and says Nasuh is even wearing a tie! There is some cute banter back and forth with Seyda hoping he will also find the love of his life just like Lutfu/Ayise and Ayse/Nasuh. Esma adds a ton of sugar to one of the cups of coffee at the end of the tray and tells Ayse to make sure Nasuh gets that cup.

In the sitting room of the Hope house, the rest of the family is gathered, waiting for the bride to bring in the coffee. The coffee is served, not by Ayse and of course Seyda messes up and he ends up with the coffee full of sugar. Miran and Cihan have fun offering and accepting the wedding proposal and giving their blessing. It is a very funny and lighthearted scene.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #116: It Finally is the Grand Final!
Part 3 of 7

Without any dialogue, we watch Ayse getting dressed. Nasuh removes her black head scarf and gives her a light blue on that matches her outfit. In an outdoor wedding at the Hope house, we see the long-lost lovers finally get married. The family gathered smiles and claps in happiness for the two teary-eyed, former tyrants.

One month has passed and now ReyMir are sitting in the director’s office waiting for Melek. The director tells Reyyan that this last stage of adoption is similar to actually giving birth because of all the emotions. Melek comes into the office and asks sweetly if they are there to visit her again? Reyyan and Miran remind her that they asked if she wanted to come and live with them, to be their daughter. She says, yes, she remembers. Miran asks if this is still her wish? Yes, she responds. Then my princess, lets go home, he says. Melek asks, can my mother (referring to Reyyan) come too? They both hug and kiss her in response. (I had to cry a bit here).

At the Hope house, the whole family is gathered to meet Melek. This is another nice, heartwarming scene with a PSA for fostering or adopting kids tossed in for good measure. Everyone is so happy to meet the newest addition to the Sadoglu family. The girl with the eyes of Hazar.

Later that evening, Miran finds Reyyan holding a sleeping Umut and Melek sleeping in her lap. He tries to carry Melek to bed but she gets a bit concerned thinking that he is taking her back to the orphanage. Nope, she gets to sleep in her own room. Melek calls both of them Mom and Dad and decides she will sleep with Umut and Miran will read them fairy tales.

Once the kids are put to sleep, ReyMir talk about how blessed they are to have another child and to give her a life to grow and be strong. They talk about raising children who will know how to love. Miran talks about how awesome a father he will be to Melek and in the end says that he will always tell their children to turn to their mother, who is strong, brave, with a huge heart (and crazy for putting up with his ass for 69 Turkish episodes!). He names this the “Reyyan Effect.”

Reyyan wonders when he changed so much? His words and actions now mean so much more to her. She thanks him for realizing he had to change to keep his family together. He takes two glass frames down off the wall that has all their memories. He wants to go down memory lane and turns to the camera and tells us to join them. The History of Reyyan and Miran is shown with clips from the previous episodes when we were all younger (thanks Susanlynn):

The first engagement ring where Rey says he touched her hand for the first time, the swing in the sky where Reyyan fell in love, the butterfly hair clip that a more handsome, bangless, Miran found the first time he saw her and he fell in love, the compact mirror he gave her before the wedding, the stone she tripped on and told the story of rocks having memories, there is the time Miran taught her to ride a bike, the Romeo/Miran rose he put in her hair, he teases that she also left him roses in his room too, we see a picture of them on horseback and that really hot kiss Reyyan gave the bangless Miran on the bridge. (Are you still with me Patio friends? It was A LOT of sappiness).

He teases that she never kissed him like that ever again. She says they have come a long way, from darkness into the light. She believed and dreamed of a love like theirs and he did too.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #116: It Finally is the Grand Final!
Part 4 of 7

She turns off the bedroom lights and romantically tells him she wants to kiss him again like that day on the bridge. Miran is happy to comply as he lays her down on the bed.

A magic wand of time is waved, five years have passed and suddenly a young Umut and Melek come running into the bedroom where ReyMir are trying to sleep. As predicted, Umut is a question asking, bit of a brat. Melek, who seems to be about 9 or 10, tries to calm down 5-year-old Umut (this is the same Umut we saw in all of those woo woo dreams where everyone was wearing white). Try as they might, ReyMir cannot pretend to be upset with Umut and the encounter ends with a family pillow fight.

It appears that today is Reyyan’s first day of school so they are all excited for her. Miran takes the two kids out to get them ready and make sure breakfast is ready as well. Reyyan looks at the calendar on her phone and counts a few days on her fingers, saying, today is the first day of the rest of my life.
In the kitchen, things seem to be going well for Lutfu and Ayise as they kiss and make breakfast and pack lunch for Reyyan. There are flowers that have been delivered from Uncle Azat for Reyyan. Melek helps Ayise pack lunch while Umut barrages Miran with a million random questions. Miran sends him off next door to ask his grandmother for bread with honey and to answer his questions while he calls Azat. It appears that he and Gonul have a new baby.

At the Sadoglu house next door, Ayse is fussing over the breakfast table with Seyda. She wants everything perfect as Handan and Cihan are arriving home after a long trip. She also wants the cheese platter that Zehra likes so much. Nasuh tells her to calm down, everything looks great. Don’t forget Umut’s bread with honey, she tells Seyda. Right on cue, here comes Umut running up the staircase yelling for his grandmother Ayse.

He is greeted by both Nasuh and Ayse. Ayse tells him he is the spitting image of Miran at that age tearing into the konak yelling grandmother, grandmother and asking a million questions. He is even dressed like Miran. Umut tattles that he saw his dad kiss his mom for a long time. Nasuh tells him they don’t discuss private things that happen inside of the house. Umut clarifies that it was outside on the swing. Both Nasuh and Ayse laugh and play along. One of his girl cousins/nieces/whatever welcomes him and he tells her that they are celebrating his mom’s first day of school.

Back at the Hope house, Reyyan is dressed in a business suit. Miran enters the bedroom and wolf-whistles at her appearance. She is so nervous. He has two gifts. One is a bound notebook with her name engraved and a family photo to keep her from getting too nervous. The second is a beautiful pen similar to the one he gave her in Istanbul a few years before. (He looks so much more handsome in that memory). He is so proud of her for never giving up and completing yet another one of her dreams.

She thanks him for always supporting her and being by her side so she can accomplish her dreams. She has a surprise for him as well but he will have to wait to get it. He moves in for a kiss but is interrupted by the kids yelling for Reyyan.

Back at the Sadoglu breakfast table, Umut is glad to see Cihan and Handan. They have arrived back from seeing Azat and Gonul in Istanbul. They have a new baby. Umut continues with his million questions (this kid is getting more annoying each scene) as Cihan tells Nasuh how awesome it is to be a real grandfather and Handan shows pictures and laughs at how the new parents freak out about everything.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #116: It Finally is the Grand Final!
Part 5 of 7

At the Hope house kitchen, the little brat, uh, Umut, has made it back to the that kitchen with his family. He and Melek fight a bit, calling each other fat, but Miran stops that quickly. Reyyan says she is so full and hasn’t eaten that much since she was pregnant with Umut (huh, might this be the surprise she has for Miran?).

He reminds her about all the stuff she did eat when she was pregnant: Chocolate, strawberries, liver. Melek and Ayise have made a breakfast congratulatory cake of cheese for Reyyan. ReyMir and the two kids make a wish and blow out the candle. Miran asks her to dance, not sure why, but let’s just throw the kitchen sink of random happiness into this final episode why don’t we?

The rest of the family meet Reyyan outside the respective konaks to wish her well. We get one last good look at Mahfuz. Everyone is proud of her. Umut wants to ride to school with his mom and Melek with her dad. Ayse reminds Reyyan to meet them at the forest picnic area right after school. They will all be waiting to celebrate with her.

Miran hops in the car with his princess, Melek. She complains about how much her brother talks. Miran tries to get her to spill the beans about her mother’s surprise. She tells him that it is something he wished for and there is still a memory of that at the Foundation. We see the flashback of the young Melek placing her blank note next to Miran’s wish to have a daughter just like Reyyan. I am not sure if Miran catches on, but he tells Melek that she is confusing him and had it been her brother, he would have definitely spilled the frijoles.

Zehra is a praying at Hazar’s grave. She tells him that in 5 years since he died a lot has happened including Reyyan starting school today. She misses him and knows that time does not heal the pain, it just covers it up. Her talk is interrupted by a teenage Gul who brings a flat of flowers to plant on her father’s grave. She seems to really enjoy horticulture and has taught the woman at the garden center a thing or two about flowers. They both hug and Zehra continues to tell Hazar about Gul’s accomplishments.

ReyMir and the kids arrive at a school and are greeted by Firat, Zeynep and their son. Umut runs past Firat not bothering to hug him and Firat teases Miran that Umut’s should have been named something different, like windstorm or hurricane. Miran greets ZeyFir’s son warmly, as does Reyyan.

The recapper finally figures out that Reyyan is actually not going to school but is going to be a teacher at a school. The whole famdamily waves to her again and wishes her luck. She takes a deep breath and enters the classroom full of first graders. She introduces herself and looks to the window to see Miran, with Umut on his shoulders and Melek all waving into the classroom. Her first lesson to the children to about love. How to love everything about life and how love will bring light into darkness.

We see Reyyan in a beautiful summer dress entering the Hope konak. She walks through the house saying, love will bring you strength and make you brave. This is the Hope House. Our family has grown here (she is greeted by the kids), I was born twice, the second time was in this konak (we see Miran, dressed in white, greet her in the bedroom) because he was here. I was waiting for a miracle. I prayed for one everyday (she hugs Miran and pulls him down into the courtyard where the kids are watering plants with a hose).

herc
Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #116: It Finally is the Grand Final!
Part 6 of 7

Reyyan continues, a miracle was born for me when he came and found me (they move in to surprise the kids). Life has given me back more than what it tried to take away from me. Now I have a garden paradise of life. Our Umut, our Melek, our loved ones all around us. We are all together. Our belief in miracles has never ceased and we have always been rewarded. My dreams, our dreams have come true. ReyMir join the kids in the courtyard and start playing with the water, twirling and laughing as we get an overhead shot of the fun and happiness.

We are at the park where a beautiful picnic is well on its way (looks like Juanita was right about how this dizi will end). The family has gathered with the current cast and a few teenage children, Gul and Bahar, I guess. I don’t see Good Grannie Sukran, Dilsah, Azat, Gonul or Melike and there doesn’t seem to be a gun or Mahmut insight. Nasuh and Ayse arrive holding hands and looking lovingly at each other with big smiles. There is a bike, a swing and Firat takes out a soccer ball for some fun family sports. Lutfu is grilling up something and Ayise sets the table. She is later sitting at the table holding an adorable yorkie.

ReyMir walk into the picnic area and take note of the family scene. Reyyan says, we set up that big happy family table we always dreamed of. I remember you telling me how remote this dream might be, responds Miran. Thanks to you, I now believe in miracles. Reyyan is gracious as always saying, thanks to us, I could not have done this without you. The kids see their parents and rush over to say hi. Miran jumps into the soccer game.

Mahfuz (Yay! We get to see him again!) asks Reyyan how her first day at school went. She tells him it was great! He tells her how proud he is of her. Rey sits at the table with Zehra, Gul and Bahar. Ayse and Nasuh tell everyone to come to the table. It takes a bit to herd the cats. Once at the table, Melek announces she has a gift for her mother. She has a framed a picture sketching of the first day ReyMir brought her home. She says, this is the best gift I could give my parents who believed in me when no one else would. Miran (who is sweaty and doesn’t have too many bangs) shows the picture to the family. Everyone claps at her thoughtful gift.

While she has everyone’s attention, Reyyan has as surprise for the family. She says it is a real miracle that she did not think could happen. We see the camera pan around to everyone waiting for the news. She is indeed pregnant and tells Miran he will be a father again. Everyone is happy. Then she drops the real big news, not only is she pregnant, but she is pregnant with twins!

Miran makes the happy moment all about himself and says, did you hear that grandfather, grandmother, uncle? I am going to be a father again and a father to twins! He picks Reyyan up and twirls her around saying she is the miracle. We see more happy moments at the table as Miran motions to Rey to walk with him.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #116: It Finally is the Grand Final!
Part 7 of 7

Hand in hand they walk and sit by the river. We hear Miran start a story for all of us: It is said that two flowers fell in love with each other and decided to live the winters alone and out of sight. Reyyan takes over the story saying, one of the flowers ignored the cold and decided to poke his head out in the snow. He waited for the flower he loved to join him but she did not. He thought there must be a reason, so he waited with hope but she did not join him. The flower turned black and sad looking.

Miran continues the story as we see ReyMir hugging each other while watching the family they have helped save. There is a snowflake on this sad flower, continues the voice of Miran, I was that sad flower and Reyyan was the snowflake waiting for me in the snow. (I don’t think I understood this flower story very well in Spanish, Turkish or English).

Rey moves Miran’s hand to her belly. Together, Reyyan continues, we changed the story that has been known in Turkey for centuries. We wrote a new ending (I wish I could have written a new ending). We leave a new love story that will be remembered for centuries to come for everyone who has love in their heart.

We end the Grand Final with Reyyan and Miran staring lovingly into each other’s eyes.

Thank you to the dedicated recappers of this very long and sometimes frustrating dizi. The ending was very happy and I am glad. I actually thought this was how the dizi was going to play out initially so it was hard to be excited with how things ended after all the drama and loose ends.

Juanita, novelera, Nett and dondi356, your recaps were amazing! I appreciate the dedicated comments from carmella, Susanlynn and HalimaCandy. I know there are a few more of you lurking out there so thanks for reading the recaps.

VVS, you did a marvellous job with this recap, as you have with all your others. Many many thanks!

I wish I felt that this gran final deserved all the careful attention you gave it. Alas, I found the gran final extremely disappointing. Almost the entire two hours were focused on ReyMir, with very little that was new or interesting except for their very predictable adoption of Melek at the start and the news of Reyyan's pregnancy with twins at the end. Everything was drawn out far longer than it needed to be. When Miran decided to go down memory lane and dredge up for us scenes we've seen several times before, I almost turned off the TV. The only saving grace of these scenes was that a couple of them showed a much better-looking Miran without his angry bangs.

Thanks for mentioning that the girl who brings flowers to Hazar's grave was Gul, now a teenager. Thanks too for letting me know that I'm not the only one who didn't really understand Miran's flower story.

Like you, VVS, I thought for quite a while that Reyyan was starting her first day as a student, not a teacher. She really seemed more like a nervous 5-year-old starting her first day at kindergarten.

I also found it somewhat absurd that so many family members came to cheer Reyyan on and wish her luck, and that we saw no other students or teachers coming or going outside the school.

I had hoped that we'd get to see or at least to learn what happened to so many other characters, such as those you mentioned--Good Granny Sukran, Dilsah, and Melike--as well as Sultana and Azra. Indeed, I had hoped to see some of them, and also Azat and Gonul, at the hail, hail, the gang's all here lunch. Oh well, at least there are no more episodes. That's about the most positive thing I can say.

Hasta la Plata nos Separe/plata (+ Pasión)

Re-pasting this. I posted it yesterday, but not many people are active on Mondays. So, here it goes!

Hasta la Plata nos Separe starts on Tuesday, May 10 (today).

Who are going to be the recappers for this one?

I'll probably watch the Gran Estreño tomorrow (timezone difference) and I offer to recap 1 episode per week (but not the Gran Estreño, if possible, I'm still scared of recapping anything that starts with "Gran" lol) after the first week (this one).

If I do end up recapping plata, I'll only be able to recap once a week for Pasión instead of two. When Pasión ends, I'll be able to recap twice a week for plata.

To sum it up, because I confused things up:

Current situation: I'm recapping twice a week for Pasión.
When plata (the tag, Juanita wrote it yesterday) starts (tomorrow): I am going to recap once a week for Pasión and once a week for plata, starting from 16/5.
When Pasión ends: I will recap twice a week for plata.

"PLATA":

Weirdo: I'll be watching this Telenovela with Carmen Villalobos.

Steve Boudreaux

VVS,thank you for an excellent, detailed recap of tbe finale and for all the recaps you provided despite your busy work schedule .

Thanks to all tbe devoted recappers who made it possible for me to keep up with this story even though I haven't had access to Telemundo since April 14

Dondi, a big thank you for encouraging me to watch " hercai." I didn't even know that I had the Telemundo channel. I am addicted to dizis.

I have now watched 7 dizis and have learned a lot about Turkish culture...swings, cabins, vendettas, coffee....

That's great, Steve! Will you also be recapping it?

Thanks for this and all the other wonderful recaps you’ve done throughout, VVS. You sort of summed the final up for me: “but let’s just throw the kitchen sink of random happiness into this final episode why don’t we?” “(Are you still with me Patio friends? It was A LOT of sappiness)”

Small clarification. Esma put salt in Nasuh’s coffee. The tradition is the bride makes and serves the coffee to show she has the proper skills to be a wife, but salt is put into the groom’s coffee. The groom is supposed to drink the salty coffee without letting on, to show that he is a real man who is worthy of the bride. I really would have liked it if Nasuh got the salty coffee. I think Seyda said, “I wish Melike was here”. Me, too and I wish I knew why she wasn’t.

“(and [Rey is] crazy for putting up with his [Miran’s] ass for 69 Turkish episodes!)” I think viewerville deserves an award for the same.

Bahar and Gul are back as older versions. Little Umut is very cute, but his nonstop questioning and hyperactivity was way too much.

At least they mentioned Azat and Gonul and we know Azat and Cihan have made peace.

I surprised myself for the emotion I felt when Zehra was at Hazar’s grave. I think it stinks that Hazar isn’t there for the Final Feliz.

Rey’s first lesson is about love? Really? Um…okay…

Yes, it’s nice the picnic dream came true. But I couldn’t help but think about all those missing for no reason family and friends. No seat at the table for Mahmut? They did say that Azat & family would be coming soon.

No mention of Crispy and Sultana.

Did we ever find out the outcome for the Yellow Centipede?

The flower story is what gives the dizi the name of “Hercai”, a type of pansy, and it can refer to a capricious lover. Two flowers were in love and made an agreement to bloom in the winter so they could always be together. But one of the flowers decided not to bloom. The one that bloomed in the winter died of heartbreak. So in our story, the bloomer that became the snowdrop (a symbol of hope) was Rey and the betraying pansy was Miran. ReyMir “rewrote” the story with their HEA. And good grief, it only took 69 Turkish eps!

“(I wish I could have written a new ending)” But you wrote a perfect recap, VVS! Thanks so much!

Thanks again to my brilliant recapping partners, VVS, Juanita, Nett, novelera, and the consistently supportive, delightfully snarky commenters, Susanlynn, carmella and HalimaCandy.

Lol, sorry, if I encouraged you to watch Hercai, Susanlynn. I don’t totally regret watching this, but it was far from one of the best dizis I’ve seen.

Is anyone going to watch Plata or Amor Valiente? I’m currently recapping Embajador every night. But maybe I can still do a Friday at Telemundo if we pick a show.

plata/Dondi356

Me and Steve will be watching plata. I will recap it once a week, maybe more if needed. I don't know if Steve will be recapping it. I would be glad if you recap plata with me!

herc

I appreciate your comments Juanita and Susanlynn. Put a fork in us, I think we were all just done.

dondi356, thank you so much for clarifying and explaining all my errors! It seemed the Turkish translation in English was so different than it normally had been and the Telemundo Spanish translations were even worse to follow. I had no idea what that flower story was all about and after watching all the marriage proposals, I never caught on that it was salt in the coffee! It didn’t help that the salt shaker Esma used looked exactly like a diner type sugar dispenser. Like you, there were just too many loose ends about where people ended up, including the Yellow Centipede and Crispy Aslan. What did happen to Melike? Anyway, I did enjoy learning about the Turkish culture and at some point, will try watching some of the top dizis you and Susanlynn have recommended.

Dondi, I will give Amor Valiente a try because Tuba is in it.

I enjoyed the comaderie of the patio watching "Hercai." Years ago, the creator of our caray patio Melinama ( Jane) told me that the worse The telenovela, the more fun . Miran has made me appreciate true galans played by Engin and Burak.

P.s. I am loving La Hija and love your recaps.

plata

I am not sure if I will watch this one. Weirdo, I appreciate you are willing to recap two TN’s! I plan on getting caught back up with Pasion and comment on the great recaps, but for now, I am recapped out.

Hasta Que La Plata

I saw the original Colombian novela twice, I think, and if I am remembering it correctly:

There were no rapes, no torture, no murders.

There were also no inappropriately dressed characters (women wearing tight dresses with deep necklines more appropriate for dinner and dancing at a fancy hotel)and no sexy bedroom scenes (I'm sorry, but I am so tired of the way young actors and actresses are expected to engage in simulated sex in every other episode).

I suspect the latter will no longer be true, but I am hopeful about the lack of violence.

It was a warm, funny, enjoyable novela.

Standing ovation in California for such a terrific gran final recap, VVS! There were so many great asides in what you wrote.

Nasuh with "spring in his moustache"; "teary eyed former tyrants", "herding the cats" for the big family picnic.

I frankly enjoyed the sugar overdose of all the happy family scenes. The writers didn't seem to dwell too much on each scene of deep, deep love, at least I didn't find it so.

A long, long time ago I saw something on the internet with a picture of ReyMir with a boy and a girl child. I kept my lip zipped the whole way through, and wouldn't have guessed that the girl would be an adoptee.

I wish they'd had Azat and Gonul at the picnic, but I guess the two actors were either on a really extended honeymoon or they didn't want to spring for so many actors to appear in the gran final. They did satisfy our wishes that Mahfuz not be stuck with Zehra as his wife. And I thought I noticed that they'd put some, or maybe a bit more, grey in Mahfuz's beard.

It was a bit confusing how many kids were running around. I noticed Gul and Bahar. But did we see Umma (was that her name?) Cihan and Handan's baby as a 5 or 6 year old?

And we certainly did often spin straw into gold. Many, many thanks to my fellow recappers: Juanita, Nett, dondi356, and VVS. It was a true pleasure to read each and every one of your recaps, sprinkled with Grade A snark. Also thanks to Carmella, Susanlynn and Halimacandy for adding spice to their comments on our recaps.

I often like to recap the first episode of a novela as a challenge. But I see that Telemundo has decided to have it be two hours long. I set it to record and, if inspired, might put up something. But 2 hours just completely dampens my desire to do this. And, as a general rule, I'm not a fan of telenovela comedies.

I am glad you enjoyed the recap and agree novelera, the happy stuff was fun. I was okay with the Nasuh and Ayse family moments. The family engagement gathering really made me laugh. Cihan and Miran were pretty funny giving Nasuh a hard time. I think Firat even got in the act by asking about the honeymoon and Umut asking if Nasuh and Ayse ever kissed.

I was also glad that Mahfuz stayed clear of Zehra. I don’t remember the daughter’s name that Handan and Cihan had, but I think she was at the picnic. As I said before, too many loose ends with stories and people. I wonder how much effect the pandemic had on the overall outcome and storyline.

A two hour recap is very draining, so if you decide to recap plata, I might just watch.

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent recap VVS! You gave it much more than the justice it deserved! There were some moments that I enjoyed, mostly Nasuh and Azize/Ayse. It was also nice to see the children growing up. Umut talked a mile a minute, lol, which isn’t unusual for a child his age. It was also nice to hear of news regarding Azat and Gonul and their new addition. It would’ve been even better seeing them.

There was a lot of “sap” coming out that maple tree, and I found myself nodding off with what seemed liked endless flashbacks of Reymir, lol. There may have not been as many as I thought, but I was still driven to yawn. I’m also glad that there was no “reunion” of sorts between Mahfouz and Zehra. There was no chemistry between them at all, imo, and I suspect that Zehra——deep down inside—-probably would never let him live down the fact that he wanted her to get rid of Reyyan. Zehra and the ghost of Hazar make a fine couple, lol.

Zeynep looked “really” young in this final episode. Like a teenage girl even! Their son was a cutie too, but I was surprised that Zeynep and Firat didn’t at least have two kids, or Zeynep wasn’t pregnant or something.

All in all, I, too, wish that there weren’t still so many loose ends. I guess Azize/Ayse really did forget about Hanife, never once visiting her grave or mentioning her again. I hated Sultana, but it would’ve been nice to know what happened to her and the “Crisper.” Hopefully Gonul is keeping in touch with them, cause I know Sultana would be over the moon having a grandchild! Yes, what did happen to Melike????

I really, really appreciate all you recappers, Juanita, Nett, dondi356, VVS, Novelera! You were simply fabulous, and I’m so happy that I got to share this dizi with all of you and the this patio. Yes, we persevered through the good, the bad, the ugly and the utterly ridiculous! We’ve endured angry bangs, gasbags, hired killers, the mentally unstable, helpless victims, and guns and crybabies for days!! But you great patio participants made me laugh and gave me much food for thought! I will miss that! Halimacandy thank you for all the “tradition” help and for your one of a kind “attitude,” and Susalynn I loved your gentle snark, such pretty words for the messiest of messes, lol.

Not sure I will watch Hasta, but I will check out Amor Valiente. I wish it came on earlier though!

dondi356, your Friday recap was stellar! Work kept me away for a few days though. I hope to see you guys again

Hercai

One more thought before I head off to dreamland .I absolutely loved sharing this crazy show with all of you and hope it won't be long before we share another ride. We were a small but logal, fun, and feisty group, and even Fu couldn't get us down.

Dondi is currently recapping tbe third season of " La Hija" on Unimas. So far, I like the show very much , and even if you didn't see the first two seasons , we can fill in the beginning of tbe story for you, inc!uding that time the writers decided it would be a good idea to put the tall, dark, handsome, galan into an old cow hide......

herc

carmella, it was so much fun having you on the patio! I remember the first time you commented! You summed it all up with this latest comment: “We’ve endured angry bangs, gasbags, hired killers, the mentally unstable, helpless victims, and guns and crybabies for days!! But you great patio participants made me laugh and gave me much food for thought!”

I also hope we can meet again during another TN or dizi!

Susanlynn, thanks for the invite to watch La Hija, I have read several of dondi356's recaps in the previous season and the cowhide one was very interesting for sure!

VVS....this season three looks so good . Join us!!!! Even if you don't watch , read Dondi's amazing recaps . I think we are going to have a fun ride , and several folks are already gathered on the patio. Some watched the first 2_seasons , and some just jumped on the wagon . We can watch you up if you have any questions .

Plata

I won't be recapping this one. I'm waiting to finish Pasion and then see what Univision airs later in the year.
Good luck with Plata, Weirdo, I hope other people show interest for th3 show, too.

plata

Thank you to everyone for responding.

I was actually expecting more people to recap this, but after hearing it's a telenovela-comedy and all, it's understandable.

If not enough people show interest, I might not recap it. What's the point of recapping if no one is going to see it? Yes, it's a fun hobby and all, but I don't know how this will go forward.

I might put up some recaps, but if nobody will be watching it, I might drop it too. I've also heard it's not a good copy of the original (which I haven't watched, but still) and that the original was much better.

I also thought it was more of a drama-love telenovela (I don't really like mushy things, but all telenovelas have them in some extent), not comedy-love. I thought it would be a bit different.

I'm also having trouble with finding the episodes on YouTube. I found it full but it's full of odd zooms because of copyright and it's hard to watch. It also doesn't have any subtitles.

Anyway, this comment is way too long.

Short Summary:
I will see if other people are interested and decide if I'm going to recap or not. I expected it to be different and I'm having trouble with watching the episodes on YouTube.

plata

I watched the whole two hours and set it up to record all this week. I was feeling a bit "off", probably seasonal allergies and lots of wind we're having in this area. When there's wind, it blows the stuff around I'm allergic to. In short, didn't feel up to recapping the first two-hour show.

The galán's accent is tough. I had to watch his first scene 2 or 3 times to grasp what was going on. I can't tell if he's really speaking that fast or if the Colombian accent (usually not a problem for me) is stumping me. An interesting thing is the apparent versatility of Sebastián Martínez. I'm watching him as a rich, corrupt, upper-class guy in Pálpito on Netflix. He's so different in Plata that I had to google the cast to be sure it was the same guy. In the Netflix show his hair is gelled to perfection. In Plata it stands on end a lot.

Gregorio Pernía plays the guy Carmen Villalobos almost marries. The day before the wedding is the car crash with the Sebastián Martínez character in which Carmen is seriously hurt.

Each protagonist has a very annoying person they're involved with. The galán, Rafael Méndez, a humble guy selling things out of a truck, is involved with one Vicki. This Vicki is easily the person I'd like most to never see again. She's not a cold, calculating other woman, rather a smothering wanna be wife.

Carmen's character, Alejandra Maldonado, is a whiz at selling cars in a family business. There's also a family dairy farm that has some sort of lien on it. They call it a secuestre. Her father, in the early stages of dementia, made some bad decisions. The farm is somehow held by a bank or something. As long as they maintain payments on the debt, it remains their farm. Should they default, it would be seized. If anyone understands this better than I do, chime in.

Carmen somehow got a mortage on the family home to get a short-term loan to pay for a Mediterranean cruise for herself and her groom. Her accident is going to impair the ability to have enough profits to pay this off.

Luciano, the rotten guy she was supposed to marry and, in accordance with TN Rule #1, she never will because she's going to end up with Rafael, is a world-class jerk. Don't have the energy to write everything. But he's lied about his background, saying he went to a school for rich boys, is planning to siphon off the profits from the car business, and has his eye on one of the typical super sexy women we see at a party.

Right at the end we discover that Alejandra will also have enormous medical bills. The gist is that her medical insurance might have paid for where she was first admitted, some sort of government hospital. But Luciano, a complete snob, moved her to a hoity toity place. His decision to do this also put her in an induced coma. The fancy doctor says she should never have been moved.

Can't say right now if I'm up for recaps. And it doesn't seem like we'd have 5 in any case. Not really wanting to do more than one a week.

Plata/OT Novelera

I didn't watch because I don't have time for another novela as previously noted, but I did watch the first two episodes of Pálpito on Netflix. It's pretty interesting. I will probably watch more next week. Something to watch on the plane! :)

Plata

This novela is being shown simultaneously on RCN in Colombia.

https://www.canalrcn.com/hasta-que-la-plata-nos-separe-2022/

The site publishes daily synopses of the episodes and has a section called Novedades which sometimes gives additional information about an episode and other times contains gossip about the actors. The Personajes section has fairly detailed info on all of the characters.

Pasion
Pasión de Gavilanes, Temporada 2, Capítulo 58, Miércoles, May 11, 2022 - Parte 1/2

This is going to be a short recap. I had a busy day!

In my opinion, this is BY FAR the BEST episode yet!

• Romina continues her "Daily Stupidities" show and takes the gun that the police are looking for OUT of it's hiding spot.

• Gaby wants to get Nino and his family out of that neighborhood and is freaking out because of the call she received last episode. Sarita suggests telling Demetrio about it!!! Big mistake. Gaby freaks out more and leaves. Jimena goes with her.

• Muriel asks her mom about the things she told JD, to not visit her e.t.c. Rosi said that he complained and that he might notice her (Rosi) again! Muriel doesn't believe her.

• Óscar asks the twins to help him get Jimena and Gaby out of the neighborhood. The twins agree, but they need weapons. Terencio wants an authorization to give the guns. JD comes and gives him the authorization.

• Sara called the cops but they say they can't do anything and list 1,000 stupid reasons. Some cops do stop Jimena and Gaby and tell them to return. They refuse and a cop tells them that if they go ahead, they will do so in their own risk. They let them pass.

• Nino's abuelo, Sebila and her brother are hiding. Nino begs Gaby (on the phone) to go back to her house and that he loves her. People with guns find Nino and one of them takes off his mask. It's Dimi! DIMI KILLED NINO! And he's SMILING! Abuelo got enraged, got out of the hiding spot and Dimi KILLED HIM too! Dimi also found Sebila and the kid and calls her "regalo" while smiling creepily. Gaby and Jimena have arrived. Dimi hears Gaby's voice and her crying and puts his mask on. Sebila and the kid are temporarily saved. Dimi's men have guns out, right next to Gaby and Jimena, but Dimi blocks them. He looks directly at Gaby's eyes.
I think she recognised him even with his mask on. Dimi's men grab Jimena.

Pasion
Pasión de Gavilanes, Temporada 2, Capítulo 58, Miércoles, May 11, 2022, Parte 2/2

• The twins and the rest have arrived and are fighting Dimi's men. Óscar finds Jimena being held by one Masked Man (MM, basically Dimi's men), who obviously has a gun. Óscar manages to disarm him and the twins find them. They manage to knock out the MM and Jimena is crying while hugging Óscar.

• Nino and his abuelo are dead for sure. Gaby is still crying (the actress is talented, I really like the way she played her parts). Érik goes to search for Sebila. He finds her and him, Jimena and Óscar try to convince her to come with them. She is suspicious of them at first, but agrees afterwards. She doesn't really have a choice.

• The police decide that they want to help NOW. They want to remove the bodies and help the people who live in that neighborhood. Óscar gets upset that they decided to help NOW and everyone (Jimena, Óscar, Érik, León, Gabriela) agrees that they are personally going to help the people who live there.

• Jimena and Óscar get Sebila to Óscar's. Jimena tells him that she doesn't plan to move here again. Óscar tries to convince her but she doesn't change her mind. When Sebila comes downstairs, she tries to initiate a conversation with her.

• Gaby goes to her room, remembering what Nino told her on the phone right before he died. She's crying.

• The next day, everybody went to Nino's funeral. Everybody except Gabriela and Dimi. I guess Romina has a special guest to her stupidity show, because Gabriela tells Dimi that her grandchildren rescued two people from that house!

• Dimi went to Sarita's and expresses his condolences for Nino's death! Gaby calls him a hypocrite, because he hated Nino! She then says that she feels terror every time she looks into his murderous eyes and remembers masked Dimi from earlier, when he looked at her, so we know for sure she knows it's him!

And we have the Fin del Capítulo.

P.S. 1: The trailer said that we're going to see Pasión again on Friday, won't it be on today? I think they said it's because of football?

P.S. 2: I'll be having some busy weeks and I will be able to recap once per week (Monday's episodes).

Thanks, Anonymous Wed at 11:18PM for the link to Hasta la Plata nos Separe information.

I watched again last night. I found the relationships and the accents easier to comprehend the second day.

Luciano (Gregorio Pernía) is SO despicable. He has a fetish about beauty. Since Alejandra now has a big scar on her chest near her collarbone, he's lost interest in her physically.

The latest development is that, while being a humble home, the house owned by Rafael's mother sits on a valuable lot near a commercial district. The sketchy guy that Luciano uses as his "inside man" in Alejandra's company has discovered this. Somehow the profits from the month before of the company are taken by this guy. Luciano gets the lion's share of the money, while his puppet gets a small amount. He's assured by Luciano that he's getting a better deal because it will be every month, not dependent on rise or fall of earnings.

Alejandra finds out that Rafael went down an embankment to save her life, but she still gets bullied by Luciano into asking for Rafael's mother's house to help pay the debt.

The "salespersons" of the auto company aren't working now that Alejandra isn't there to get them to work. Instead they're throwing back shots.

I finally figured out why two cast members looked familiar. Alejandra's father is Alejandro Tomassi, Luis' sidekick in Alborada. And Laura Flores is in the cast, not sure if she's Alejandra's step-mother or real mother. I remember her from En Nombre del Amor and En Otra Piel. She looks very different to me, probably because her hair is not as blonde as before.

Pasión

Thank you Weirdo for your very entertaining recap! I haven't had a chance to watch yet and I have so much to do still tonight but I will get caught up by Friday. I didn't realize we were preempted tonight but I guess so I just checked and the schedule says Fútbol

I am looking forward to seeing the best episode so far!! And who knows, we may see Franco by Friday!

Pasion

Thank you Weirdo for your quick and enjoyable recap! It was a good episode! Sad and satisfying——in a way. Demetrio is lower than a diseased roach, sicker than h your average psychopath, and more disgusting than a load of green vomit! Not only is Gaby intuned to his evilness, but Sibila is a witness to it! It’ll be very interesting to see how this plays out! And to watch Sarita around Demetrio, at thi s point, makes my eyes hurt! Seeing her take his side and defer to him as some possible savior is way more than I can stand!

Nino wasn’t my favorite, but I didn’t expect this——nor his grandpa either. I truly hope revenge will be SUPER SWEET for Demetrio!

Glad Muriel put Rosario in her place! So who’s the mature one out of the two????? Muriel!

I guess Franco and Sam will show up the last couple of episodes at this rate!?!?!

Romina is too stupid to live! Somebody please get the bug spray and OFF her and Demetrio! And Adan while you’re at it!
