Mi fortuna es amarte #71 Mon. 6/6/22 Bingo! --OR-- Lady Luck Smiles on Olga

WARNING:  JudyB, and everyone else. You better fasten your seatbelts for tonight's episode or at least parts of it. I had them installed on all of the patio chairs for tonight. I also found a supply of "air sickness bags" behind the grill to use as needed. We have extra beanies if you forgot yours. There will be light snacks and  beverages available but no mezcal tonight. ANY section marked with any number of asterisks will indicate it is a particularly troubling scene  for which you might want to fasten your seatbelt. The more asterisks, the more disturbing the scene.   ; )

This episode takes place during one day: the day that Natalia continues her work on and finishes her huge catering order that Chef Tellez got her.

1. A very stressed Natalia comes home in a rush as everyone is working on the catering order. She explains that Chente is down at the municipal office where he was called to get some information on the running of the fonda. She reminds them that they need get moving because the next thing they have to do is make 150 servings of the matcha cake. They will have to work out of this kitchen and Chole's, too. She encourages them saying they will not give up. Andrea seems to have come around expressing her confidence in her mother and telling her what a super chef she is.

2. Mario and Vale are still smooching. She asks him if he feels the electricity between them. He has to admit that he has never felt anything like it even though they come from such different worlds. She  informs him that sometimes you can't control who you fall in love with. It has nothing to do with social classes. He admits that when he is with her nothing else matters and he needs nothing else to be happy. She asks what is he afraid of. He is afraid of of losing control and  everything else because of this craziness between them. He is afraid of feeling again, needing her and not being who he has always been but he is falling in love with her more each day.  He makes it clear that he doesn't want to hurt her and be sorry later but he cannot take it any more with everything he is feeling. She asks if she can give him a kiss. A smiling Mario tells her she can kiss him all she wants. They kiss.

3. At Chole's, Kim, JuanGa and Olga are working on Natalia's order when Chole gets a call from Natalia to help bake the cakes. She says no problem and she will send Olga over for some cake pans. Olga makes it clear she is only doing it to get out of washing plots.

4. At the hospital, the doctor tells Chente that they were able to remove the bullet and that Adrián was not severely injured. He is out of danger. The only thing is he will really have to be careful about is a fracture in his right shoulder.

5. Back in Natalia's kitchen, she gets a call from Chente updating her on Adrián's condition. She is greatly relieved and thanks Chente. She FINALLY tells Andrea about her father and what happened. Omar  takes Andrea to the hospital to see her father. All Granny Magos can say is that this neighborhood just isn't the same.

6. Chente visits Adrián who wants to know why he is there. Chente tells him very tersely that he is the one who brought him to the hospital. Chente thanks him for defending Natalia. Adrián makes it clear that if he didn't arrive when he did,  Natalia would have ended up hurt. Chente says that isn't necessarily true. He got hit in the head from behind trying to defend Natalia and ended up unconscious. He would give his life for Natalia. Adrián says he need not fool himself and to take a good look at his shoulder. HE is the one who almost gave his life for Natalia.

7. Olga goes to her room and takes out a pregnancy test.

8. Adrián tells Chente he can go now because he doesn't need him.  Chente says that in spite of it all, he is happy that he is well. As he leaves, Adrián tells him to wait. He says that Mario told him that his business was robbed.  He wants Chente to know that he is open to helping him out if he wants. Mario asked him to give  him what he needs on credit.. Chente says he told Mario he was grateful but he refused because he doesn't want to owe Adrián  more than one favor. He leaves. Adrián says he will get rid go him, too, in due time, in due time.

9. Some guy named Tomás comes into Chole's kitchen telling her that Tavo wants to see her in their room. JuanGa says he and Kim have everything under control.

*10. Tavo says he is going to ask Chole a question. If she still has a bit of respect for him, he wants her to tell him the truth. Chole looks confused and asks if he is feeling well because she doesn't have the slightest idea. . . He cuts her off asking who  the father is of that baby she is carrying in her womb. Chole now is shocked.

**11. Olga comes out of the bathroom also in shock thinking back how Simba told her that she took him to the stars and remembers being in bed with Adrián.  She looks again at her POSITIVE  pregnancy test (Jarifa comment: didn't anyone ever tell her that it only takes ONCE?) and starts to panic saying that this cannot be happening to her. She retrieves the bottle of knockout drops from the drawer of the nightstand. She remembers being told that if she uses the correct dosage with Chente, she will be able to do with him whatever she wants.

*12. With tears in her eyes, Chole asks how Tavo can dare ask her something like that. He says he  spent way too many years with Connie for her to treat him like garbage. He demands to know who she is cheating on him with. She says with NOBODY. He asks if Juanga is the father of the baby. She is horrified and says no.  She wants to know why he is doubting her. She never was with JuanGa and hasn't been cheating on him with anyone. She says that he knows exactly who she is. Tavo says he used to know but now he has no idea what kind of woman she is. She insists that she has only been with him and she got pregnant by him. He screams it is a lie. She screams it is HIS! Tavo explains why it cannot be HIS (Jarifa comment: maybe he should have told her the truth before getting engaged) He cannot have children. He is sterile. Chole looks stunned. He says she knows what that means. There is no way he could have gotten her pregnant. Chole cannot take more of this. The baby is his. Tavo denies that saying that the doctors had him take tests and  he has proof of his sterility. Chole is beside herself and just doesn't understand what is going on. Tavo says that he used to love her. He thought she was the best woman on earth but she is worse than Connie beaus she is incapable of telling him the truth. He tells her that she isn't worth ANYTHING. With that,  an overwrought Chole slaps him hard across his face.  That does not stop him. He thinks that she tried to put one over on him.  Fortunately, he was able to open his eyes before he ended up marrying a woman like HER. He looks her up and down with disdain and leaves her sobbing.

13. A joyful Vale and Mario go back to the rooming house where Tavo quickly rains on their parade. Mario wants to know what is wrong. Vale says he looks like a dog that got run over.  Tavo explains  that he and Chole are done. He confronted her and she didn't have the decency to tell him the truth. Mario asks Vale if he can go talk with Tavo and they can have their dinner out another day. She agrees and hopes Tavo is feeling better soon.

14. Vale finds Chole crying in her room and  says she just saw Tavo who was all bent out of shape. What happened? Chole says he is thinking the worst of her. He thinks that she was cheating on him and the baby she is expecting isn't his. Vale asks if she is pregnant. Chole says she is and it made her the happiest she had been in her life and now she is the saddest. She swears that Tavo is the father. Vale asks how he can doubt her. Chole explains that he believes that he cannot have children so the baby cannot be his. Chole assures her that he is wrong.

15. Out at the neighborhood watering hole, Tavo is telling Mario how he cannot believed the Chole did something like that to him since he loved her more than his own life. He explains to Mario what his situation is and how many medical  tests he took. Mario asks him if maybe his condition has reversed itself. Mario cannot see him jumping to conclusions when he might be wrong. Tavo ignores him and goes on to talk about what a hell his marriage to Connie was. He insists that medically speaking it is IMPOSSIBLE for him to be a father. A drunk Claudio joins them but is summarily ignored. No matter what Mario says, Tavo will not change his mind and will NEVER forgive Chole for what she did to him.

16. Andrea arrives with Omar at the hospital. She asks "Don" Chente (she is being respectful??) how her dad is doing. He tells her that he is out of danger and that she can go visit him. Chente leaves to go help Natalia.

17. Claudio has moved on to Connie's  where he gets a call from Tere telling him about the shooting and how Adrián defended Natalia and ended up shot. He tells Connie everything and she can only pray that Adrián was severely enough wounded that he doesn't make it through the night.  Claudio has to disappoint her because he is out of danger. Andrea has gone to visit him.  Connie cannot believe how unwise that was because Andrea has a risky pregnancy. Nobody has good enough sense to care for HER child. She demands to know what hospital Adrián is at and leaves.

18. Adrián visits with her "papi" Adrián. She loves him so much. He explains that what he did is only proof that he would give his life for her, her sister and their mother. They are the most important thing for him. He tells his little princess that without them, life has no meaning. She hugs him.

19. Back at home, Natalia tells a crying Regina that her father is going to be okay and will be released soon.  She encourages Regina to go see him at the hospital but Regina decides to stay and help her instead.

20. Connie confronts Omar at the hospital calling him stupid for dealing with Andrea's high risk pregnancy like he is. He is putting the baby at risk. Doesn't he understand what the baby means to HER? In  no uncertain terms, Omar  reminds her that the  that the baby is NOT hers. (Jarifa comment: YAY! FINALLY  somebody has the chutzpah to shut her up)The baby belongs to him and Andrea. She says he will be medically responsible if smoothing happens to Andrea or the baby. He tells her he wants her to stay away from Andrea because of her obsession with their baby. Connie says she wouldn't be around  if she saw that Andrea was caring for her pregnancy properly. He realizes that her real motivation is to be the baby's godmother and  to buy his child as if it were a thing. He tells her to forget  any idea that she has about  being around his baby when it is born.

21. Andrea is still with Adrián.  She asks if he needs a nurse. He says no because the pain that he has is here. He points to his heart. He misses her mother so much at times like these. Andrea explains that Natalia has a lot of work to do. She has a very large contract and has to deliver it tomorrow. Adrián sees that only as an excuse because deep down he knows that she hates him. Andrea disagrees and  assures him that she is really busy cooking. He sends Andrea on her way.

22. Chente comes home and tells Natalia that Adrián is fine and that she has nothing to worry about.  He dons his apron and is ready to help out in the kitchen. He kisses Natalia. Ben applauds. The three of them hug.

23. Vale joins JuanGa, Kim and Olga to fill in for Chole in the kitchen.  Olga is silent and pensive.

24. That same evening at Natalia's, the matcha cake is finished. All items are packed,  boxed and ready to be picked up. Natalia thanks them all and reminds them that they did it as a family. Chente recognizes God's blessing as being part of the equation. They give a cheer to their family.

*25. A concerned but tentative Natalia goes to visit Adrián. He smiles when he sees that she came to see him. She asks how he feels. He says he feels like you do when you get shot. She starts to explain why she came so late but he tells her not to worry because Andrea already explained it all to him. He asks if she already is finished with the order. She says she is but with such a short deadline and with it being for so many people,  it was a great challenge. He smiles and says that there is nothing in this world she cannot achieve. In tears, Natalia acknowledges that she has no idea what would have happened if he had not appeared at the moment of the assault like he did so she wants to thank him so very much. Adrián smiles smugly.

*****26. We see Olga  preparing a group of shots of mezcal.  She has her handy dandy knock out drops and the dropper is ready in her hand. As she is putting drops in Chente's glass, she is whispering to herself. One drop is for Chente's kisses to always be hers; two drops are for his caresses to never stray from her; three drops for her to be the only woman in his life;  four drops for him to love her madly; and five because she is the biggest  B---- around and she deserves him.  Finished with the drops,  she puts them away and pours the shots of mezcal.

*****27. Chente and his brothers are sitting at the dining room table. Chente says he is worn out but satisfied that  it came from a job well-done. He is also so happy that JuanGa has found his vocation. Olga comes in  with the mezcal shots for Chente, JuanGa and her to relax with and do a toast. She makes sure that Chente gets the glass with the knockout drops. Chente toasts to health and the success of his pretty Natalia's business. They all drink the shot. Immediately, Chente mentions how the shot is burning his throat. Olga smiles and says she is going up to her room to rest. Chente first tells her how he appreciated how much she did for Natalia. He never expected it of her. He tells her that without her help they never would have finished on time. Olga says he has nothing to thank her for. She is grateful that they gave  her a job. She finally leaves and Chente is still feeling the burn of the "mezcal."

28. 2XJosé leaves the table. Chente notices JuanGa looking longingly after Olga. JuanGa admits he has had to realize she is never going to love him the way he wants her to. He pours him and Chente another shot. He doesn't know if he will be able to get her out of his heart but he is trying to. Chente asks if he is doing that with Kim. Juanga says no, but by cooking!  They laugh and toast.

*29. Still taking advantage of his victim status, Adrián  has to mention that Regina never came to see him. Natalia explains how worn out she was after today and tomorrow she has classes but she still sent him a kiss and was so happy that he was doing well. He asks Natalia if someday Regina will forgive him and love him like before. Natalia says he is her father. He needs to give her time. Next, he has the temerity to ask Natalia if she still needs more time. Natalia explains that it is different with her because she no longer loves him. Adrián surprises Natalia by saying he is going to sign the divorce papers. Natalia has a hard time believing that.  He says he has come to realize that their marriage is over and that he is the only one responsible for that. She agrees.  Starting to turn on the water works, he continues saying that from the bottom of his heart, he wants her to be happy  because she deserves it. Natalia starts to cry as he says  he is willing to put  aside the great pain that the divorce is causing him. She thanks him and leaves. He looks annoyed.

*****30. Olga has arrived in Chente's room in  her sexy night clothes.  She continues her preparation for her assault by adding a little of Natalia's perfume  and turns off the lights as she positions herself to wait on his bed.

31. JuanGa and Chente are still drinking but Chente has had enough.  He is really feeling the effects from the mezcal. It must be from him having worked so hard but he admits the first couple shots hit him exceptionally hard. JuanGa says he is ready to go to bed. Chente has a hard time getting up and starts to stagger as he approaches the stairs.  Everything is suddenly blurry. He manages to stumble up the stairs.

********** 32. Chente stumbles into his bedroom holding his head as Olga sits on the bed. Olga approaches him and all that Chente can see in the dark is a blurry woman with dark hair approaching him. He addresses her as "his pretty one" because he imagines that he is seeing Natalia when he closes his eyes. He snuggles with her saying that she put on the perfume that he likes. Olga agrees with an "uh huh." She asks if he is okay. He says he had some shots with Juanga and they didn't go down very well. She whispers that she will help him and guides him to the bed. She kisses him on the way whispering "Chente" and telling him she loves him. He answers that he loves her, too and kisses her neck. She helps him take off his shirt as he only sees Natalia. She helps him take off his tee shirt next; then starts to unbuckle his belt. For a second,  Chente doesn't know who she is and pushes her away. He asks who she is. He sees Natalia in his mind as Olga whispers "It is me, my love." She continues to help him remove his pants  as he whispers "Natalia".  Next she gets him in bed as she caresses and strokes his chest.  She joins him in bed and starts to kiss him and he kisses her  back.

33. Tere is at Connie's and wants to know why Connie went to the hospital. Connie explains that she went because of Andrea. Nobody seems to realize how at risk her pregnancy is.  Tere assures her that she is being taken care of. Connie finds that hard to believe when Andrea  was working at the fonda and is living in a disgusting room in the neighborhood.  When Andrea was living with her she had all of the conveniences and attention she needed. Tere gets up and says they all now know what the price for that was.  Connie says that everyone seems to forget the Andrea wanted an abortion.  Tere will not take her bringing that up to play the "heroine." Connie doesn't understand how she became a monster because she wanted to adopt a baby that her niece didn't want. Tere tells Connie that she is worried about her. Her desire to become a mother is turning into something really sick. If she had just adopted when she was with Tavo, her life would have been very different. Maybe she would have  been happy. Tere leaves.

34. Mario has  brought a drunk Tavo to his office at the  repair shop to sleep. No, Tavo doesn't want to go to Mario's apartment. He wants to be left alone.  He tells Mario to give his a chance to sleep and just leave. Mario finally agrees but makes him promise that he will call him if he needs anything. Tavo agrees and Mario leaves. Tavo sobs all by himself.

35. Natalia comes tiptoeing into the house so as not to awaken anybody. She sees the she glasses and the mezcal on the table.  She stops there  and takes off her heels. She clears the table.

*******36. Olga and Chente are still kissing but are in bed. She is telling him how delicious he is. She asks him to make her his. He smiles and sees Natalia  telling her how much he loves her.  Olga says she is his! For a second, he is not sure if she is Natalia but Olga shushes him and starts kissing him again. She says it is always her the woman who loves him the most out of  anyone. Chente is smiling and calls her his"pretty one" again. He says that she isn't Natalia. Olga agrees that she is who she is, that she has always loved him and tells him to kiss her. Next, she straddles him and removes her night clothes. She goes back to kissing him.

37. Natalia has finished cleaning up the dining room and turns the lights out downstairs. She goes upstairs to her room.

**********38. Chente is kissing and  caressing a naked Olga on top of him when Natalia comes in. Chente is telling Olga that she is driving him crazy. Natalia is surprised and  appalled by what is occurring right in front of her eyes. Olga smiles knowing that Natalia saw her. She hears Olga tell Chente that he is hers, all hers. Chente is still seeing Natalia in his mind and agrees saying he is hers and she is his. He loves her. Natalia drops her shoes she was carrying at the doorway and leaves as Olga continues her assault.

39. Natalia makes her way down the stairs in a state of shock. She falls to her knees next to the coffee table to catch her breath and process what she just saw. She immediately thinks back to what Adrián told her about Chente and Olga's  supposed "relationship" that went on for years. She grabs her cell phone.

40. Regina is giving  2XJosé notes from the classes he has missed. he tells her that his intention is to squeeze all he can out of his scholarship.  He is planning on ignoring Lorenzo.  She asks him to try to be friends with Lorenzo. He isn't too sure because he really doesn't trust him. She asks him to do it for her. He agrees maybe they can have a truce but is not pleased to find out that Lorenzo is going to be one of her chambelanes (guys in her honor court).  Regina gets a call from her mother who is upset and tells her she is coming right over to the  boarding house to see her. Natalia takes her keys and purse and gets out of there.

I had to bring some humor to this frustrating but excellent episode.Tavo was such a hateful idiot as well as Adrián. Who will save Ben? It sure looks like Olga isn’t going anywhere soon. A life lesson: if the mezcal burns more than it should going down, stop drinking it! ; )

Jarifa, thanks for your latest excellent recap, and for the asterisks.

Telenovelas have a certain reputation with some people. There was a time I would defend them, but it would be really hard to do that after these last two episodes. Adrián let Simba shoot him with a real bullet? Tavo goes off the deep end thinking Chole (Chole!) has been cheating on him? Olga uses Magic Drops to seduce Chente which Natalia takes at face value? (Well, OK, this last one did look suspicious :-)

Well, at least not-so-terrible Mario is finally making a real connection with Valentina, but why did she look like she had bags under her eyes? And what now for Fernanda?

Constanza and Claudio seem to getting along better. No more kissing her feet or ankles?

They have announced "últimas semanas". I did not shed a tear on hearing that.

Jarifa, thanks again. I think you took a bullet like Adrián did, but you took one for the patio.

Andy

My God, what a disturbing episode.

I did not think that Olga could stoop lower than the child abuse, false claims of rape, and attempted murder (for hire) that she is already guilty of, but she is now a rapist as well. There is no other word for it- what she has done to Chente is rape, pure and simple.

The deepest pit of hell for her.

Adrian is such scum, and Tavo was reprehensible in this episode... Chole- WHY???? You can do SO MUCH BETTER!!!

I guess the heart wants what it wants. Love is not only blind, it is deaf and stupid too.

Speaking of "you can do so much better"- I love Omar. And I still hate Andrea. Baby or not, she does NOT warrant a "Feliz para siempre", I don't care if they LOBOTOMIZE the character in order to redeem her.

WHERE is Veronica??????

Thank you for this recap. I loved the asterisks!!! And YES, they DID help prepare me.... lol

Best wishes from Santa Fe, everyone. :-)

This episode made me sick. Jarifa, you really took one for the patio this time.

I can't imagine the next one if somebody doesn't figure out how all these recent things happened at virtually the same time:

-- Vicente's shop being looted
-- Natalia's restaurant getting shut down
-- Adrian conveniently being there when Natalia was about to get robbed... or worse
-- Vulga raping Vicente

Juanga might figure out about Vulga if he talks to Magos, who may be the only person who could be objective enough at the moment to figure this out. Mario would need to put those other pieces together.

I had been hoping that Vicente would just pass out, but the dice rolled snake eyes at that and the viper got her way. If this had happened earlier he would end up marrying her for the baby's sake and later figuring out that it couldn't be his but I don't see there being enough time for this plot turn now. We have four weeks to go to the end.

Tavo has really sunk to nothing in this one. I am willing to believe that if he actually got tested way back before the curtain went up Constanza bribed somebody for falsified test results specifically to be able to blame him for her failure to get pregnant. This is a woman who really likes hitting below the belt [pun intended]. And may Soledad end up with Juanga, who would never have treated her this way.

It is a very good thing that both Teresa and Andrea see Constanza's obsession and that Omar is catching on. However, I still don't think Andrea deserves him.

AS for Veronica, I think this is a writing fail. It would not surprise me, though, if she showed up within the next two or three episodes to get revenge on Adrian, who doesn't love Natalia no matter what he says. He wants the $20MM he thinks she has. We haven't seen Elias for a few episodes but I think he is using that as bait. I'm not sure it's real at this point. Both of these very corrupt men think she is an idiot and both need to pay for that.

Jarifa, a big thank you for your bravery in recapping a stomach turning episode . I wrote a long comment , and then my tablet fell over , and I lost it. @#&@&

Where to begin? W ell, I have noticed that each "good" character has been assigned his\her own , private demon.

Watching cold, calchkating, despicable Olga spinning her web in the bedroom as Chente sat drinking with Juanga was beyond frustrating . How does Olga perform regular daily functions with those talons ? I feared oblivious Chente might get poked in the eye during this disgusting seduction .

I was never a fan of Tavo , but last night sealed the deal. Also...worst crier ever .

I have to mull this whole mess over while I self medicate with coffee and the season's first strawberries from my neighbors berry farm . Later, gators.

P.s thanks for the asterisk warnings which were very thoughtful and clever of you ...but they didn't help ease my sinking feeling of despair . I am wondering what the writers were thinking " Okay , what else can we do to these poor , victimized people ? Do they have a Wheel of Bad Things " they spin as they crank out each episode?

Okay, I need strawberries ,also blueberries...and coffee.

OT..Hello, Judy....love,hugs, prayers . I miss your wise , insightful comments .

When I first started watching novelas nearly ten years ago, I started to realize what a “novel” art form they were. It seems that no matter how happy slappy the theme song is, it does not assure you of anything. Touches of the grotesque like Olga’s assault of Chente are just another part of the formula. Another facet of the same is Olga’s terrorizing little Ben. What surprised me was that the Olga bedroom scenes were some of the most explicit sex scenes I have seen in novelas. They are usually more discreet leaving us wanting more but not this time when we could have done with much less. Last night seemed heavier than normal in commercials but that could be because they actually did cut a final Olga sex scene and a couple of scenes of Natalia arriving at Chole’s. That being said, I think they did an excellent job of telling a very disturbing tale. I just wish they didn’t have that bouncy joyful theme song for a story that is anything but.

Thanks, Jarifa, what a disturbing episode. I woke up thinking about it. I was worried that Adrian would have Simba and his friends break in and still all the prepared food. Which I guess could still happen. Why do they share stuff with Adrian?!!
But what happened was so much worse! I’m hoping Omar will figure out what happened to Chente.

Meanwhile, just a couple of episodes ago I was enjoying the simple, uncomplicated love of Tavo and Chole. Well, Chole will have her baby and I don’t care if she gets back with Tavo.

Olga and Adrian deserve any evil that happens to them. Maybe Veronica will come back and get them. She knows Olga hired someone to kill Natalia.

Poor Benja, I hope he goes with Natalia.

Ready for this to be over!
Liz

I think the most recent dearth of sex scenes is about Covid. I have missed some of the ones of the past between the main couples because they are such a breath of fresh air after all the locker-room titters or Victorian cringing of US TV sex scenes.

There also are actors who do such scenes better than others.

As for the music, I like the opening song of this one but not the closing one. It isn't appropriate to the tone of the series. This is not a comedy.

Jarifa, you captured all the action and the malevolence of this disturbing episode masterfully. The asterisks were inspired.

Thank you for “A drunk Claudio joins them but is summarily ignored” which was really the only halfway humorous scene of the evening.

The hits just kept coming. Brutal and violent.

Natalia cannot deny what she saw in oh, all too graphic detail. Her retinas surely suffered terribly, the image of Chente and Olga seared in her brain. Urban, I really thought Chente would pass out too, or that his “performance” might be impaired due to the drugs. This seems irreparable, especially since Olga is pregnant. What a sickening side twist.
“Tavo was such a hateful idiot as well as Adrián”. Perfect. No need to add anything further except perhaps Susanlynn’s comment “worst crier ever” 😊.

I see zero chemistry between Mario and Vale. I’ll echo Andy’s what happens to Fernanda?
All of the comments were exceptional today. “I guess the heart wants what it wants. Love is not only blind, it is deaf and stupid too” was spot on Eliete.

I’m worried for Benja as well Liz but I can’t see him leaving with Natalia, unfortunately. Thank God we know it’s only a story (as our Judy always reminds us) so we know Olga will be banished. Eventually.

Jarifa, as Andy noted “…you took a bullet like Adrián did, but you took one for the patio.
I’m still in shock. Too much to process.

Jarifa, you are the best. I cannot thank you enough.

Diana

Diana, "brutal and violent" ...yes, these writers are truly beating up these characters... and we who are viewing this show .

I never thought I would miss Jose Ron's shortsleeved pleatber shirts, huffing putting Big Bad with his pointy Toro pendant , and all those unrealistic rolls in the hay ( achoo and ouch)....but that show was a fun, silly ride compared to this hall of horrors . Who knew that Omer would be a bright spot in this spectacle of evil intent? .and I love the cozy house and moments of the family working together . Other than that ......next !

Perhaps Veronica will return , tend her garden , and start sending out bouquets of yellow roses.

I am wondering when the tide will turn , and the good folks start winning .

I hardly watch this but 1) Thank you for the recap 2) Thank you to the script writers for inserting every Trope in this one. 1. The ever popular date rape drug, used on a male. 2. The fantasy scene during the rape. 3. Now as a woman, walking in and seeing your said loved one banging someone else and apparently having the best sex of his life..you don't just wander off doing the sad poor poor pitiful me lady like weeping. You go BSC.

3. Taboo fooled for years over his sterility. Egads did he get a card to carry in his wallet. Swimmers don't swim.

Headache Fevered

What great comments, everyone!

I do not usually comment twice on the sme thread... not out of a lack of interest or desire, but just for the practical fact that websites such as this I can only access on my tablet (my laptop is for work, and they own me... lol) and it is just such a pain-in-the-ass for 46 year old me to pick-and-peck on a tablet, like these young kids can do. Give me a good ol' keyboard ANYDAY!

That being said, there was so much fruit to pick from your various comments, I should, and want to, and WILL thank you all for your contributions. I don't know who on this website first came up with the "patio" metaphor/anology but whoever it was.... they were spot on. What a delightful idea AND place (even if it IS metaphoric)

Regarding the episode, and subsequent commentary.....

I am glad we are talking about Veronica. I can not and will not believe that the writers of this story would leave such a gaping hole. As someone alluded to earlier, Veronica is, really, the ONLY character who not only has her fingers in every proverbial pie, but who also has been privy to EVERYTHING that EVERYONE of our major villains has done, be it Elias or Adrian or Olga (of course, she took care of Tania for us...)

I am wondering, then, if the writers are setting her up to be this ARCH-villain, of sorts. She is definitely a narcissistic megalomaniacal sociopath- she resented her best friend Natalia for what Natalia had that she didn't and as such wanted to claim it for herself so as to assert her absolute superiority.

THEN, when she HAD that (of course, not giving a damn about the pain and chaos she left in her wake doing so... people that she supposedly CARES about), once she realized that Adrian still had feelings for Natalia, they each became Public Enemy #1 for her. Verotica will NEVER be second (in her mind's eye), and if EVER this might come to pass.... then it is "scorched earth" for her.

This, to me, is the only rationale for the character. Knowing her ability, and willingness, to murder at will to achieve her ends, AND that she seems to have no qualms abut the fact that her prize roses are fed on decomposing bodies of her past victims (as she said to Tania's corpse), I can't help but think (/hope???) that in SOME way, Veronica might prove to be some kind of terrible (in the true sense of the word), retributive, 'Nemesis' like character for everyone....

Who better to reveal what Elias has done?
Who better to expose Adrian?
And finally.... what better fate for evil Olga than to become fertilizer for those beautiful roses, once she becomes more of a liability than an asset??

And, PLEASE.... 'Patio' friends- this is JUST me speculating. OK??

That is all. And I look forward to your comments! :-)

Sending love and light from Santa Fe,

Eliete

Thanks, all, for your is insightful comments on last night’s pivotal information.

HeadacheFevered, you and me both with going Natalia not going BSC. I kept wondering why Natalia didn’t pick up a stiletto and turn on the lights as a STARTER since Olga was in Natalia’s bed, too, but we know telenovela female protagonistas usually are loathe to ever take any meaningful action until it is too late so that then they can bemoan the fact of being a victim. “Swimmers don’t swim” was very funny.

Diana and Andy, I think Fernanda dodges a bullet by not being paired up with one of these goofballs. I wouldn’t wish JuanGa in anyone let alone on Vale. He is so immature just like Mario is in his own way.

Diana, “her retinas suffered terribly” was a gem. Yes, “Thank God we know it’s only a story.”

Liz, I would love for Vero to come back and even the score once and for all. Adrián has it way too good right now.

Urban, I loved “but the dice rolled snake eyes”. Yep , they sure did and Chente was a goner. I agree with you that Connie probably paid somebody off to falsify the test results. She is too smart to have left that part of her plan to chance.

Susanlynn, “How does Olga perform regular daily functions with those talons ?” It made me laugh but is a good question. “Each ‘good’ character has been assigned his/her own private demon.” You are right and I had not thought of it that way.

Eliete, you are right that Olga is now guilty of rape. There is no other way to describe it. ITA that Andrea does not deserve “a Feliz para siempre.” No mayter now they try to rehab thatcharacter, she is still a goner for me.

Andy, glad you enjoyed the asterisk seatbelt warning plan. I admit that I had great fun recapping this episode but do admit it was one of the most disgusting episodes I have ever recapped. Go figure! So, I will accept that I “took a bullet like Adrián , but ‘I’ took it for the patio.” LOL

OT

To put me in a better telenovela mood, I will be watching “La fea más bella” on Unimás at 4 Central. I think they are on epsiode 7. At least I know there will be a happy ending after don Fernando atones for his sins and cries for about 140 of its 301 episodes. Jaime Camil is anything but an ugly crier. ; ) BTW, there are recaps for this one from Caray’s early days.

Jarifa, thanks again for your great recap. I think you may be out of your doldrums :-)

I have taken off my beanie, I don't need it anymore. I will just accept whatever the telenovela demigoddesses send our way. There is no way I can stop it anyhoo.

Susanlynn, a "Wheel of Bad Things" might actually be what they use!

Diana, yeah, "Natalia cannot deny what she saw in oh, all too graphic detail. Her retinas surely suffered terribly, the image of Chente and Olga seared in her brain."

I definitely have to feel for poor "betrayed" Natalia. She saw and heard them, that's hard to get past. But this being a telenovela... well, what I said above about "I will just accept whatever..." Resistance is futile.

I started out liking Tavo, and I don't dislike him now, but has there ever been a dumber character?

Andy

Jarifa, "To put me in a better telenovela mood, I will be watching “La fea más bella” on Unimás at 4 Central."

"...its 301 episodes."

You are way, way, way tougher than I am.

Andy

Thank you Jarifa for the recap of the horrendous episode.

I have no idea how justice will prevail. But if Iwere the writers this is what would happen: Olga will ruin the relationship between Chente and Natalia until the very end. But Olga, aka Slithereen, will give birth to a child and the daddy of the baby will be Adrian via a DNA test. This will cure the sympathy of Natalia, and her daughters for Adrian. and Natalia will reconcile at the end with Chente. Olga will have to sue Adrian for child support. And that DNA lab needs to get busy with testing Chole's soon to be born baby showing that the miserable Gustavo is the father. But I hope Chole does not marry him. A real sad sack of characters. Oh, the humanity of it all!

I am enjoying the comments as I keep taste testing the big pot of chili I am making. ...really sick of chili at this point. ..but not sick of the comments.

Fev, I thought the same thing when I watched Nat take off her shoes and climb those stairs . She will go epic BSC....because I would definitely go epic BSC. I was sure that those high heels would be launched missile style at Olga's noggin. Nope.Instead , Nat returns downstairs, melts into a puddle, and calls her teen daughter. Que!!? I would have been looking for more missiles to launch at the noggin. . How about a nice icy pitcher of water to throw ?

Anon, “A real sad sack of characters” “Oh the humanity of it all!” Thanks for the laughs. I would love for Olga’s baby to be Adrián’s.

Susanlynn, chili sounds perfect.

Thanks, Jarifa. My word! You most certainly took one for the team last night. TN most foul! I too loved "A drunk Claudio joins them but is summarily ignored." You sure know how to dish out a tale.

I remember when Carayers on the patio would joke about wanting to put a paper bag over their head when a favorite character would do something inexplicable or just plain stupid or embarrassing. I want to put a paper bag over the whole writing team.

I have visions of Olga pretending she's preggers with Chente's kid and torturing Benja with news that this kid will replace him.

Ack, at least in Fuego in la Sangre, the villain only staged fake sex for the heroine to see.

Tavo is quite the fool. Maybe he does deserve Connie after all.

Niecie: What a wonderful use for the humble paper bag! ; )
