"ULTIMO REY":

RGV Chick: Was that Sonya Smith I recognized in this miniseries ?

I noticed BPN from "ESDLC" is in this miniseries too.

Steve Boudreaux

Mexicana. Diego was right that Sebastian's lying to Katya about Diego's being gay was a really stupid idea.

Mexicana

SpanProf, I am not yet caught up with this novela. I was put off by the first episode and didn't know if watching this would be worthwhile. A couple of episodes later and I was hooked.

I will be all caught up this week sometime   :-)

I don't understand Sebastián. I can only judge by telenovelas, but being gay does not seem to be such a big deal in today's Mexico.

Andy

Mexicana. Andy, from what I have seen, Sebastian's parents are very traditional and anti-gay and he doesn't want to do anything to alienate them. Btw, 10 down and only 117 episodes to go. How are they going to fill them all without some very strong deviations from the basic plot?

Mexicana

SpanProf, Wait! There's a plot?   :-)

OK, yeah, there's a plot, but I don't really care that much. I am just enjoying this collection of misfit characters and Andrea's efforts to herd them along.

My fave, at least for the moment, is Matilde, who is so much fun. A trio of (a new word for me) vejestorios: Matilde, Jaime, and his car.

This is what I hope they can continue to do well.

Andy

Andy...ha...there are a lot of Spanish terms for "ladies of the evening" as they used to be gently known as. I remember that " zorra" was used a lot in telenovelas when I first started watching . Abuelita seems to know lots of words to let Olga know what she is.

MEXICANA

SpanProf, Wait! There's a plot? :-)

Andy, thank you for my morning laugh!

Embajador S3 #26 part 1

Yayha goes to the hospital in Aydin. He checks in with Huseyin, the guy who informed Necdet. There is no record of Dudu as a patient there. Yahya thinks it could mean Dudu was telling the truth, she was there for Ela. Huseyin asks for the friend’s name so he can check her. Ela’s name does not come up in the system. Uh, oh. Yahya storms out of the hospital.

Mavi calls Bora. She asks for the day off. He says it’s okay but he’s a little concerned. She tells him it’s nothing important, she just has to take care of a few things. Bora doesn’t quite buy that and wants more of an explanation. Does it have to do with that guy who showed up here? Mavi only answers with, don’t worry about me. But Bora worries, tell me who he was. He’s my ex-husband, Ekim’s father, Mavi replies.
Why did he come, Bora asks, was it a bad break up or what? Mavi says that her ex thinks she belongs to him. He says I owe him, but I paid my debts, she tells Bora and adds, you don’t want to know how. I thought I could start over. I was so sure, that I said yes to Sancar. Wait, wait, Bora exclaims, you two…?

Mavi confirms and Bora congratulates. He thinks it strange that she delivered this news over the phone, but they can celebrate this later, when her ex disappears. He advises Mavi to tell Sancar about the ex. You are starting a new life together and he needs to know this. Mavi says she won’t tell. [big mistake] I’ve started over with Sancar, she tells Bora, I have to keep him far from Sedat. I’ll finish it with that man. Bora doesn’t agree but he knows that’s Mavi’s decision. He tells her to think about it.

Sancar is in the grove office looking at a diamond ring the jeweler has brought. He tells the jeweler, [Turkish] Fate smiled at me, master. I am its happy slave. I met someone who I understand and who understands me. She is my soul mate. The jeweler replies, may Allah make you happy. May He grant you a happy life with your children. And you said it well, to understand and to be understood is very important.

Sancar tells him this has to stay between them. We don’t want to hurt anyone, especially my family. The jeweler says not to worry. [Turkish] I put the stone on the ring while praying for you. You help all those that who are in trouble. You’ve done a lot for me. May you grow old on one pillow. Sancar tries to pay for the ring but the jeweler says it is his gift. Sancar insists. But the man will not take the money.

Sedat sends a message to Mavi with a snap of her marriage certificate. She calls him. You entered my house? He denies this and says he was walking and found an open door. What do you want from me, Mavi asks. Sedat replies, does your husband Sancar know who you really are? Mavi responds, get out of here or we are going to have problems. Look, I’m an honest person by profession, he tells her, lawyers help people, and it makes me uncomfortable to know that you are fooling a poor man that you presumably love.

Mavi warns him to stay away. Sedat tells her he doesn’t like talking over the phone and asks to meet with her. Or, he says, I will find your dear Sancar and tell him what I know. Mavi gives in. You don’t know how excited I am to see you again, Sedat says. He sends a kiss and hangs up. Mavi leaves the house.

Sancar puts the ring in his pocket and gets ready to leave. He tries calling Mavi and she doesn’t pick up. Well, well, we are married two days and she doesn’t answer, he says. Sancar gets a text that stuns him. We don’t see it, but we see him run.

Embajador S3 #26 part 2

Cut to Sedat sitting outside sipping his drink. Mavi shows up. She starts, Sedat, I’ve built a new life here. Go back to Istanbul. Do the same as me. You will find a woman who will love you. Poor Mavi, he replies, you want me to go now? I just got here. Let me enjoy this place. You’re not the only person who suffered a loss. Tell me why you came, she pleads, why? What do you want from me?

Sedat tosses the marriage certificate to her. Did you seriously think you could start over? Do you think you can leave me behind? I will never permit it. She threatens to get a restraining order. Go ahead, he replies, report me, but I’m not leaving. Why not, she demands to know. I dreamed of this moment when I was in the hospital for months with half of my body broken. I wanted you to give me an explanation. But I see you have made your dreams come true with Sancar. He has a little daughter. Are you happy? Has she taken the place of Ekim? Mavi raises her voice. Who are you to ask for explanations?! Who do you think you are?

Sancar arrives at the scene. Mavi tells Sedat, you ruined my life, you destroyed me, you tortured me, and I lost my only daughter. Sancar finds Mavi and Sedat and hears her say, I lost my daughter because of you, because you are crazy. You cannot hurt me anymore, do you hear me?!

Sedat smiles and says, look, your husband is here. He arrived just in time. Leave him alone, Mavi tells Sedat. Sancar asks, Mavi, who is this guy? Sedat stands and says, you thought I was dead, no? You listened to her jokes. He holds out his hand to Sancar, I am Mavi’s husband. [Turkish] Do not immediately assign yourself status just because you signed a piece of paper. I was here before you. Sancar shouts and steps towards Sedat, what are you talking about?! Mavi holds him back, calm down, don’t do this. This is what he wants.

Sancar stops and Sedat continues, [Turkish] Don’t talk to me like that or you will end up at my feet, Efe. Come here, Sancar responds, I’ll show you Efe now. Mavi pulls Sancar back. What other lies did she tell you, Sedat asks, did you know our daughter died because of her? Did she mention she went to trial for another murder? Of course not. Sancar gives Mavi a startled look.

Mavi shouts for Sedat to shut up. He doesn’t and tells Sancar, you see stupid, see how well you know your wife? This time Mavi isn’t close enough to hold Sancar back. He gives Sedat a head butt and a punch in the mouth. Sedat absorbs them without going down. Men rush to restrain Sancar as he shouts for Sedat to keep his mouth shut. Sedat mocks, hey, that’s the real Efe? Is that all?

Sancar breaks away from the guys holding him. He warns Sedat to go back where he came from. If you come near me or Mavi again, I won’t have mercy. You don’t want to meet me. Sancar grabs Mavi’s hand and pulls her away with him.

Ahmet meets with Guven, who thanks him for coming. Look, I told your assistant that I didn’t want to file a lawsuit, Ahmet says. Don’t tell me you didn’t even occur to you, Guven replies, then why are you collecting medical files? Who gave you this document, Ahmet asks? Guven assures him he is in good hands. We are just trying to help you. I know you have problems with the Efeoglus, Ahmet says, but my family doesn’t have anything to do with this. I’m still married and if my wife finds out, I will lose a lot of money in the divorce and I won’t be able to look my family in the face.

Embajador S3 #26 part 3

Guven says that money won’t be a problem. You have a textile business? Yes, Ahmet replies, I have a workshop. Guven says he’s been thinking of investing in textiles. Maybe you and I could become partners, 60% for me and the rest for you. What do you think? Is a 1 million dollar investment enough to start? Ahmet thinks that’s a great proposal, but he says, I can’t expose my family, please understand.

Don’t worry, I understand, Guven answers, you made a decision and I must respect that because we are civilized people… at least you and me. But before anything, speak with Sedat Bey. He’s a very professional lawyer. Make an appointment to talk to him. You won’t regret it. Ahmet agrees to that. Smug laugh from Guven.

Gulsiye comes to visit Elvan at her store and admires how nice everything is. She’s also brought Elvan’s favorite pastry and segues that into, have you thought about coming back to the mansion? Don’t get angry, but I heard you talking to Halise this morning. I won’t come back, Elvan says. I don’t know what to say, Gulsiye tells her, I couldn’t stop her. My sister destroyed your family and now she will live with us. I can’t stay in that house. What am I going to do? I’ll have to leave there forever.

Calm down, don’t exaggerate, Elvan replies, Dudu is your sister, and the mansion is your home. That’s life. Bora is right, if Halise hadn’t pressured me, I wouldn’t have reacted. You know what? I lost so much time, standing like an ornament, waiting for someone to pay attention to me. It’s time to live my life. That’s what I want to hear, Bora say upon entering, you ought to take advantage of your life.

Elvan introduces Bora to Gulsiye, she’s like a sister to me. And she sheepishly introduces Bora as her neighbor. Bora tells Elvan he’s going shopping and asks if she would like anything special for tonight. Oooh… Gulsiye gives Bora a closer look. No, I don’t need anything from the store, Elvan replies and I think she’s a little embarrassed. With that, Bora tells Gulsiye it was nice to meet her, Gulsiye returns the sentiment and he leaves.

Gulsiye gives Elvan a tap and laughs, [Turkish] Elvan, he’s very sweet! Do you have plans for tonight? No, Elvan denies and launches into an explanation, I told him that I wouldn’t stay at the mansion and he offered me his van, but he’s going to stay here. He said he would bring me and come back to the café.

Calm down, Gulsiye says, you deserve to live your life, you only have one. You are a very fortunate woman. You rarely find someone like him. Take advantage of the opportunity. Elvan thinks it over and puts her hands up, well, he’s also a fortunate one! Exactly, Gulsiye exclaims and gives Elvan a hug and a kiss. Enough, Elvan says, customers will come. They share a pastry.

Time for Mavi to become accountable. Sancar asks, why did you lie to me? You told me he was dead. I never said he was, Mavi replies. You didn’t say he was alive either, Sancar accuses. For me he is dead, Mavi says, including before the accident. Come on, Mavi, Sancar replies, that bastard said a lot of things about you. I need to know if they are true. You saw him, Mavi responds, you want me to explain his nonsense?

Sancar says that’s enough. If I knew he was alive I would have taken precautions. He sent me a message. [Turkish] He wrote: “if you want to know about your wife, come to this address.” My heart almost stopped! Do you understand the situation I’m in?! Mavi asks if Sancar understands her. What did we talk about before the wedding, he reminds her, people will talk about us. And you said you didn’t care, Mavi reminds him. Did you lie, she asks? That’s not the same, he replies. But she thinks it is. They argue that point.

Embajador S3 #26 part 4

Sancar continues, you destroyed everything today. She asks, tell me what I destroyed? You decided to lie, Sancar answers. I didn’t lie, Mavi says. Look, he’s dead to me. I don’t even want to say his name. You didn’t tell me the truth, Sancar says. You are doing exactly what Sedat wants, she says, you let him manipulate you. You are judging me from his point of view, but remember that I am Mavi, the woman who woke up by your side.

I don’t know the woman in front of me, Sancar replies. Trust me if you want, she tells him, it’s your decision. [Turkish] Just as your past doesn’t concern me, my past shouldn’t concern you. My past made me this person. She says, I didn’t judge you for your past [ah, but you did at first], I supported you. And I expected the same from you. Forget the past. The woman in front of you is the woman you love.

Okay, Sancar says, we will talk in the mansion. Pack your things. She says she’s not leaving. Sancar insists. I can’t let you stay here alone while that bastard is free. We will stay in the mansion until he disappears. Mavi shakes her head no. I didn’t marry this man (meaning how Sancar is acting now). My ex would give me orders, she explains, I am looking for something different. I don’t want another man like that.

Do you want me to leave here, Sancar asks? There’s a pause, then Mavi answers, if you don’t change your attitude, yes, go, do it. Sancar leaves. Outside, he calls Kavruk. I need you, it’s urgent. Gather the boys and come to Mavi’s.

Yahya returns to the mansion and interrupts a wedding planning session between Dudu and Halise. [They cut Halise praising Dudu’s selections and knocking Elvan’s sense of style. Dudu presents Halise with a scarf. What disgusting women.] Yayha has a deadly serious look when he tells Dudu to leave because he has to speak with his mother. What happened, Dudu asks with worry. He responds, I told you to leave! She looks at Halise and she signals for Dudu to leave.

What happened, Halise asks, why are you yelling at your wife? You did it, Yahya answers, why, mother, why? What did I do now, Halise asks in reply. I went to Aydin to investigate, he tells her. I spoke to the doctor. Do not deny it. You told him to say I had no problem. You forced the doctor you chose to give us a false test result.

Yes, Halise says, and so what if I did? Answer me, mother, he asks, why? What did you want from me? At first you didn’t want Dudu, you despised her. Why did you change the test results? [Turkish] You wanted to be a father and you are about to be one thanks to your mother, Halise replies. Why are you complaining? Yahya shouts, you’re making me lose my mind! Are you aware of what you have done?! I dreamed of having children, but your decisions ruined my life once again! Have mercy on your son!

Halise asks, I don’t have mercy? Listen to me, I love you so much that I was ready to accept the son of another as my own grandson. I took care of catching Dudu’s lover and I threatened him so he would never come back. And do you know who did all this for?

That’s enough, Yahya shouts, tell me who asked for your help, because I didn’t! Don’t involve yourself in our lives. My brother lost the woman he loved because of you. He had the fortune to find a good woman and you insist on getting rid of her even though he loves her. And what about Zehra? She can’t start her life with the man she loves because of you! Elvan and I separated. he poor woman doesn’t know what to do.

Embajador S3 #26 part 5

Yahya asks, do you know why I chose Dudu? Just because I know how much you dislike her. I said, I will make my own decisions because I am a grown man! What did you do to me? You interfered and like always, you ruined it! Enough! Leave us alone! Don’t involve yourself in our lives! Don’t ruin your own children’s lives just because you don’t have one! [Bravo, Yahya! I hope the patio is giving him a standing ovation!]

Halise asks, I ruined your life and the lives of your siblings? I am the reason you suffer? The doctor said you couldn’t have children. There was no possibility. But you came to me and said you had a dream that you would become a father. I never forgot that. I am giving you what you want, Yahya. Maybe Sancar has the right to reproach me [ya think?] and yes, Zehra too. However, you don’t.

You’re not going to get away with it this time, Yahya says. I’m going to call my brother and tell him everything that you have done. The time has come to stop you, that’s enough. Yahya takes out his phone. Call your brother, Halise dares, I’m going to tell him about the second doctor you went to. Tell him you knew about your problem and how you decided not to tell Elvan. Tell him how many times she cried for you. Go ahead, tell him and see how Sancar responds. Yahya stops.

Halise says, the past is not important. You are about to have a son and the Efeoglu legacy will continue. If you are not satisfied with Dudu, divorce her when the baby is born. You are doing it for this, he asks, if the baby Dudu was having wasn’t a boy, you would have rejected her immediately, right? That’s enough, Halise says, stop crying, control yourself. Tomorrow is your wedding. Yahya storms off. Halise takes a sip of tea and a deep breath.

A pissed Sancar paces outside of Mavi’s house and waits. Kavruk arrives with the guys and Sancar orders them to watch the house. No one can enter without our consent. What happened, Kavruk asks, are you going to tell us? Sancar just gives more orders and tells Kavruk to follow Mavi wherever she goes. Be her shadow, understand? Understood, Kavruk replies. Sancar heads to his truck. Kavruk asks for an explanation again. Not now, Sancar replies, I have to talk to someone.

Dudu reappears. Tell me what happened? Nothing, Halise replies, it’s none of your business. But what was wrong, Dudu asks, do you know why was he so upset? Did he find out the truth? I told you it was nothing, Halise repeats. You should go home, your wedding is tomorrow, and the bride must appear at her best for the guests. Go home. You need to rest. Dudu looks very uneasy.

Sancar shows up at the place Sedat is staying. He asks an employee to call Sedat and tell him he’s here to see him. The guy says Sedat isn’t there. Don’t worry, Sancar says, I just want to talk to him. The guy says Sedat isn’t here, he packed and left. Sancar asks if he knows where Sedat went. No, he answers, but he looked pale, and I suppose he ran away. Inshallah, Sancar says, I hope he never returns. Sancar leaves.

Ahmet meets with Sedat. Sedat looks over the evidence. He says we can get an agreement of confidentiality on the case so no one will know. Ahmet worries, if my family finds out, they will disown me, it will be a disaster. Listen Ahmet, Guven says, your family lives in Denizli. Sedat will get the confidentiality agreement, how could they find out? Ahmet is not so sure. My family wouldn’t want to be involved in this. For my father, reputation comes first.

Embajador S3 #26 part 6

Excuse me, Sedat asks, what about your reputation? Her name is Dudu, right? She’s carrying your baby. But that’s not important. They kidnapped you and gave you a beating. You have to deal with that. Sedat shows him a picture from that night. I don’t know what that woman told you or how she threatened you. If it were me, I’d be humiliated. The last thing I’d care about was my father. I read the medical report. It was a prolonged beating. It lasted at least an hour and 45 minutes. This poor man was tortured. What I wonder is… if Halise Efeoglu saw them beating you or did they drag you to her afterwards. Tell me the truth.

Ahmet stands up and tells Guven, I didn’t expect this. I didn’t come to hear insults. Excuse me if I offended you, Sedat says, remember that I didn’t kidnap you or beat you. You’re afraid of your own father. I think you don’t have guts. Ahmet complains again to Guven. Okay, okay, you’re scared, Sedat says. You’re a coward, you say you don’t want revenge. Because you’re scared, because you’re not a man.

This gets to Ahmet and he sits back down. Sedat tells Ahmet, all you have to do is accept this, nothing more. I can fix your problems, I will get revenge in your name. This woman will wish she hadn’t messed with you. All you have to do is tell me you accept. Ahmet struggles with an answer.

Bora takes Elvan to his van. Welcome, he says, it’s not the most luxurious in the world, but I believe you won’t lack anything. Even a person of my size can be comfortable here. So Bora sits in the doorway and hits his head on the frame. If I can fit, you can fit, too. She laughs, I’m not worried about that. Only there’s no one here, it’s empty. And I’m not confident in that lock. Are you scared to spend the night alone, he asks? That’s why you never left the mansion? No, Elvan says, you’re wrong. I think she said she won’t be able to fall asleep.

Bora suggest they have dinner first. And so she doesn’t worry, he will wait in the car until she falls asleep. Then he will go back to the café. Don’t bother, she tells him, I think I will feel safer inside. Better you don’t waste time here. If you prepare the food, I’ll forgive you, he says, what do you think? Okay, it’s a deal.

Gulsiye sighs as she tidies up the kitchen. Halise enters and asks what’s wrong. Nothing, Gulsiye replies unconvincingly. Halise guesses that she’s upset because Dudu is getting married before she is. She asks, would you like us to organize a wedding for you and Necdet? Gulsiye pulls her ear and knocks on the table. God forbid, don’t even mention that, she responds, no, thanks. I’m happy as I am. Halise asks if she knows anything about Elvan. I told her to leave, but not today. She didn’t go to Feride Efe and she’s not answering calls. She disappeared. It seems she was looking for an excuse to escape and I gave it to her. Do you know where she went?

Gulsiye answers with a lie, Elvan is… okay, yes, she went away for a couple of days. Do you remember Zuna? Her husband went abroad, and Elvan is staying with her tonight. Halise doesn’t seem to believe this. She says, Elvan and that girl have become very attached lately. Gulsiye affirms but can hardly look Halise in the eyes. Okay, Halise says, we will have information soon enough. I’m sure about that. Halise leaves the kitchen.

Dudu calls Yahya. He’s not picking up. Please don’t do this, she says, I’m begging you. Yahya is out somewhere, drinking.

And we are out.

Embajador
Thanks, Dondi, what a great detailed recap. There was a lot of conversation and I even had trouble keeping up with the closed captions.

It was great to hear Yaya tell his mother off, she deserved it. Not sure why she wants Yaya to raise a child Dudu is trying to pass off as his. And it looks like she’ll have more trouble from Guven, Ahmet and Sedat. But I bet she won’t realize Guven is behind it all. And I don’t think they’re going to worry about Ahmet’s wife and family and reputation.

I know Sedat is everything Mavi said about him but now I’m wondering what else she is hiding. I feel sorry for Sancar. He really needs to give up on love and concentrate on Malek.

I like the Elvan/Bora storyline. But it seems like Sancar would make sure she has a nice apartment. And Bora should be able to afford one, but I think he likes living out there.

Had to laugh when Yaya said he went for Dudu because Halise didn’t like her. Like a defiant teenager!

Part 1 of 2

1980: Refugio looked at herself in the mirror as Vicente looked at the newspaper headline describing him as Mexico's latest idol. She came out of the bathroom with her new hair, saying she thought this would please him more than Patricia.

1999, ranch: Refugio woke up to a mariachi serenade by V.Sr, V.Jr, and Alejandro (already dressed in a black traje de charro). Alejandra appeared on the balcony. V.Sr blew a kiss, Refugio returned it, and Alejandra was first to embrace V.Sr when they went outside. Refugio embraced and kissed her sons first, then her husband who said “There is no Vicente without Cuquita.” Gerardo appeared in civilian clothes, holding a large bouquet of roses. V.Sr delivered an almost convincing speech about Refugio being the love of his life.

2020: Don Vicente talked with his child self, recalling a concert of some 20 years previously. Then he talked about the one on the Plaza Mexico.

Dalia asked Alejandro whether V.Sr was strict with him in his youth. Alejandro recalled a date with his future wife, America, in a public park. He was scolded by both parents about his professional obligations. Alejandro was stubborn, telling them he was out with his novia. The said they needed to go back to the ranch and turned around. Vicente was approached by fans.

He said that he obeyed at times and rebelled at others. Dalia asked him about the conflicts over V.Sr's concept of machismo.

1980, Recording Studio: There was an uncomfortable encounter between V.Sr and Juan Gabriel, who also wanted to sing with him.

2020: Alejandro said that he and his father had personality clashes.

1986: V.Sr was displeased that Alejandro was not exactly like himself. Refugio was displeased with this and made that very clear.

2020: Dalia saw Alejandro as more independent than his brothers. Flashback to Gerardo trying to collect a debt at gunpoint and archival footage of Vicente talking about why he hasn't recorded anything of Juan Gabriel's (don't remember what he said, but I don't think it was anything resembling the truth).

1980: The boys saw Refugio's new hair and told her how beautiful she was “like the actresses in Dad's films.” Then they all went to the movies.

In Jalisco, Vicente bought Patricia an apartment. Felipe and Federico were present when he showed it to her. Felipe seems to have some financial problem. They two guys left, leaving Vicente alone with Patricia.

Part 2 of 2

2020: Dalia started asking about secrets and Alejandro subtly asked whether he should call a cab for her.

1980, Ranch: Gloria Abarca arrived for a visit and told Vicente and Refugio that she was pregnant. She exchanged a strange look with Vicente behind Refugio's back.

1985, Recording Studio: Vicente was rehearsing with Federico, who talked about him singing in the Plaza Mexico. He was intimidated about this for a few minutes because of the size of the space, but
finally agreed. All over Mexico City everyone was singing along with his latest song as it played on the radio. While this was going on the hacienda at Los Très Potrillos was being redecorated.

1985, Jalisco: Patricia was listening while she cooked. Vicente arrived and she showed him the chocolate cake she had baked. She wanted to go to the Plaza for the concert but he told her she had to keep her distance from his family. Later he expressed concern to Refugio about how this concert would go. She was sure it would be a huge success. There was an identical chocolate cake on their table.

2020, Ranch: Don Vicente and his child self talked about that concert. Don Vicente confessed that he felt very empty before it actually happened. Archival footage of him talking about how his performance is all about the affection of his audience.

1985: Vicente and Refugio visited the shop of the carpenters who had done the remodeling. He had known the owner for a long time. Food and drink was delivered and a mariachi band arrived. Vicente sang for the crew, shook all their hands, and paid them a bonus. The boss gave Vicente a beautiful cross and he sang “Volver, volver.”

1985, Ranch: Federico and Felipe and a number of others were there to celebrate Vicente's 45th birthday. He sang “Que linda esta mañana.” Gloria arrived with her newborn baby daughter. She was unmarried and asked Refugio and Vicente if they would adopt her baby. Refugio agreed.

2020: To Dalia's obvious question Don Vicente did not admit paternity of Alejandra.

1985: Alejandro sang first at his father's party. Vicente took the mike from him and sang a few lines. This led to an argument with Alejandro telling his father he wanted to sing pop music (Remember that he was not quite 14 at the time). This ended when he told his father he wanted to be known for himself, and not as the son of Vicente Fernandez.

EMBAJADOR

Whoa thanks for the recap from HELL. It was like every bad person was I'll ruin a life and raise you one. Ahmet bad guy in his own right was looking at Sedat like this is one crazy mf'er.

I still feel sorry for Yahya the man is with finless swimmers. While he did lie to Elven forever, probably figuring, Elven woulda been picking olives and cleaning houses if not for him marrying her. Still he is the weakest child and Mama played him and his Mustang realizing his gelding status ran away.

I dunno, if suicide is the one unforgivable sin, Islam as it is in the Catholic church, maybe not since these Turkish Telenovelas seem to have a history of suicides. But nothing stronger than green tea and small bottles of baby Tylenol should be left near Yahya.

Now thank you for my dose of SANJAR headbutting, but Sedat is seriously BSC and while I have no doubt SANJAR could win..Sedat is his Sherman. Sedat will march to the sea and live the earth scourged.

Now MAVI needs to come clean, I hate the long suffering people who carry the unspeakable burdens. That if they woulda just come clean it would have saved the plot and me alot of time. This does not mean people like Guven, Halise or the baddie Akim. No no amount of weeping and wailing can redeem them.

Oh SANJAR I am feeling your Fever

Dear Dondi, thank you for every painful detail and the baddies line up for their attack . Uff

Fever, yes, Ahmet was looking at Sedat like " Wait! What? how did I get in the same living room with this BSC guy. I just wanted to harass Du a bit .

More later. Unfairly I have to do some work now . #poutinglikedodoandyoyo

Work can wait a sec.

When San and Mav were sitting on the floor by the sofa ,and they came together in an embrace and he took off his jacket , I could actually read his mind. He was thinking , " Yeah, you have a lot of baggage including more secrets and a completely crazy ex who might kidnap\ maim\ kill you, me , or both of us , but you are actually having regular sex with me ...who knew ??? Winning .

Then ,San wakes up ( in a jogging suit????...What ???) , and he and we see that Mavi isn't there ,and we all panic. Whew...we find her getting breakfast ready in a RED TEDDY and a comfy long sweater (This outfit represents exactly who Mari is . ..a long, comfy cardigan over sexy lingerie . Forget all her former outfits that made her look like a pirate or a hiker headed for the Appalachian Trail . In fact , I think this is who Tuba is. I have seen her in three dizis now , and I think she wears her own clothes .She definitely has a personal vibe in her style.I am taking notes. San and our heads spinning .

Mexicana. It was really tacky of Katya to risk destroying both Paulina's and Sebastian's careers by switching breast implants in those boxes. And all because of Sebastian's lie about neither he nor Diego being gay.

Random thoughts on the wedding that didn't happen . Du said "yes" to the dress, but Yo said "no" to the marriage . Also, did anyone else think that Zehra was beautiful, but that dress seemed dangerously low cut . And, I liked the way Melek wasted no time after Yo said no and Grandma stood up. Melek has great instincts and moved away from the crazy speedyquick and went directly to Dad and sat on his lap.And then , Guven's Sedat\Ahmet tag team show up ,and Grammy gets arrested. San gives his mom major side eye as he tries to do the math ...the police...his mom ...new enemy BSC Sedat...and a guy San doesnt know . Just what San needs . End scene .

Mexicana

SpanProf, unfortunately I am still three episodes behind, I just got busy and couldn't binge watch as much as I had planned to. I may have to FFWD through a couple of less interesting scenes to catch up. But I hate to do that as I am enjoying this novela so much.

Still, we knew almost from the start that Katya would be trouble over her "Guapo" Diego.

I agree that headbutting, San's go to move is not going to work in with Sedat , who is creepycrazy to the max . This guy is more like Akin , and we all know how that played out >>>>falling off the cliff>>>>San as a burrito in the cabin >>>>Nare disappears Wait! what?

I am amazed at the way the new writers have taken the frustrating first two seasons and tried to make characters and storyline make more sense . #stillavoidingwork

REY

Urban, your recaps are amazing.

I particularly enjoyed "the boys saw Refugio's new hair and told her how beautiful she was “like the actresses in Dad's films.” Then they all went to the movies".

I did see Pablo Montero and was shocked how much he looked like Vincente!

Thanks for your comments everyone.

I made the mistake of reading Fev's comments on break at the office. A couple of people asked me what was so funny. They wouldn't understand. Conferring “gelding status” on Yahya, LOL. Sancar and Yahya are opposites in lots of ways.

Akin 2.0, aka Sedat, is a formidable foe. Not too many guys are bigger than Sancar either.
From what I know, suicide is a big sin in Islam. Pretty much the same reasoning as the Catholic Church. Yes, I’ve seen plenty of suicides and attempts in dizis. But I don’t remember anyone detailing the consequences in the afterlife. If the audience is mostly Muslim, I guess there’s no need.

Liz, I was thrilled that Yahya told his mother she didn’t have a life. I think that Halise needs to cover her ass because if Sancar finds out her part in this, she’s in trouble. And Elvan should speak with Sancar. Since Bora quit the rat race, I think he likes the freedom of his new lifestyle. We’ll see if Elvan changes his mind about it.

I'll have the full recap of Weds night's ep up on tonight's new page. It's was a very eventful episode as Susanlynn has hinted.

Thanks, Dondi. I like Bora, but I'm still smiling at your reference a while back to Matt Foley in a van down by the river. ;>

I'm surprised Sedat is a capable lawyer. From the flashback a while ago when he was pouty because their friends were praising Mavi's work, I figured he was a layabout that resented her success. But turns out he's capable with the books and the fists. Uh-oh, Sancar.

Mavi is getting on my nerves with her "you said you would accept me as I am, Sancar." Lady, Sedat is dangerous and Sancar has a little daughter and family to protect. Fess up so he knows what he's dealing with.

Yay Yahya! You go, boy! Stand up to mama. If Halise was a good MIL she would've encouraged Yahya and Elvan to adopt back in the day. I'm guessing they didn't do it because she didn't approve then.

Embajador

Niecie...you made good points .

Since Bora retired from the corporate world, I am hoping that we get the surprise that he is mega wealthy and just chooses to live in a van at the beach because he is a free spirit.
