Thanks, FEV and novelera, for your helpful comments about last night's episode. I have a question about the paintings. How would someone be able to make convincing copies of the paintings without having the originals in front of him/her to look at? Also, IIRC Suhan took note of the fact that Rifat was carrying on his shoulder a container just like the one Cesur had. Cesur claimed that his contained diagrams of the house he was building. She more or less accepted that explanation--but then Rifat shows up with an identical container. Oops.

IIRC, Suhan told Cesur that her father was away doing his military service when the fire occurred that killed her grandmother and drove her grandfather to kill himself. But in the flashbacks (I think they were Tahsin's flashbacks), we see a younger Tahsin watching as the house burns, and he ignores the cries for help.

Tahsin is upset that everything stolen in the robbery (I'm not sure where) was recovered except the picture of the "grandparents." He asks someone on the police force (the chief?) whether any Karahasanoglus have been seen in the area lately. The guy says "No. We investigated them several years ago. Six years after the death of Hasan Karahasanoglu (I think that's Cesur's father), his wife and son went to Sweden. She had a serious accident there." He offers to make some calls to find out if there's anything more. He and Tahsin agree that Tahsin rewards information very generously. I'm trying to put this together with what Cesur's mother said earlier (in a flashback) about their returning to Switzerland (Geneva). I often confuse the Spanish names for Switzerland (Suiza) and Sweden (Suecia). I'm wondering whether something like that has happened here in the translation from the Turkish, or whether they really did go to Sweden.

I'm also a bit confused about the doctor's murder. We do see Hulya/Ayse burn what seem to be the doctor's clothes, but she also says to Cahide, "I am not an assassin." Of course, she could be lying, but is it possible that she's telling the truth?

The gossipy staff who took a video of Cesur and Suhan kissing are fired by Sirin.

This is my second dizi with a galan with a beard. Is this what Turkish women go for?

Banu plays games, setting up Cesur’s hotel room to look like she spent the night with him.

Bulent tells his mother he doesn’t care a rat’s patootie about Suhan but he’s going to win her to get vengeance on Tahsin.

Looks like Adalet, Tahsin’s lover was an orphan at one time. She was bullied and had her hair cut off. It is mentioned, I think, that her brother is in prison and Bulent’s mother (Mehribar?) wants to visit him. This freaks Tahsin out.

Bulent’s smirk is getting on my last nerve.

Cesur has a plan to get Tahsin and the family to invest. Because she’s jealous Suhan is against the plan.

The woman who ran the orphanage is in the same hospital as Cesur’s mother. Adalet sees him there and gets very upset. She alerts Tahsin.

Cesar tells a bedtime story to Banu’s son. He says that a man named Hasan (Cesar’s father) was a very talented painter. He wanted to sell some paintings to buy land, but his father wanted to keep them. Hasan is making copies of his own paintings and plans to sell the originals for money, having his parents see the copies and think all is well.

Some soldier in the same outfit as Hasan (doubtless Tahsin) is friendly with Hasan and finds out where the real paintings are hidden. He steals them. I’m still a bit confused. Was it the copies that burned up along with Hasan’s parents, or did everyone think the originals burned up?

Suhan is investigating Cesur. She comes to Rifat’s garage and almost opens those tubes that had the original paintings in them (maybe) when Rifat comes in.

When Suhan says something about the hotel room, Cesar figures out what happened. He confronts Banu at the airport (not forcefully enough for me) letting her know he knows she faked their sleeping together.

So far I can’t tell if the big investment is going to be a horrible loss or just a loss leader to get Tahsin to invest even more.

Tahsin has his number one flunky kill the poor old woman who ran the orphanage fearing she’ll say something.

Novelera, thank you very much . You cleared a lot up for me.

I was confused about Tahsin's girlfriend . I don't understand how she ,the orphanage woman , and Caesar's mother are connected to the story. The whole thing about the original paintings and copies id confusing . If the original artist copied them, are they copies ? Huh?

The SIL and surrogate story that Bulent (meh) is somehow part of is also weird. I would have thought they would have made Caesar's rival for stunning Suhan a little more attractivo.

Who is the young girl with the ponytail who hangs around with Suhan? Is she a servant or a pal. She is dating the dark haired young guy who was doing chores and taking care of a horse.

We can see Banu as the woman who wants the galan. There's always one of those lurking.

OT...Alborada was my first telenovela , too. I was channel surfing and saw a tall, dark, handsome longhaired guy (Fernando Colunga) in period costume carrying a sword and was fascinated even though I didnt understand what people were saying . I found Melinama's Pratie Place where she was translating the show to English. Next , I watched Amor Real , and I loved that one, too. I had a lot of Spanish students , so I sometimes wrote out words phonetically and asked them what they meant. A lot of folks have come and gone from this site since then . We both could throw out familiar names .

Amor Val

Thank you novelera for clearing up a few things for me too. I didn’t catch the exchange between Suhan and Cesur at the very end, but it seemed important by the way they looked at each other? I’m still very confused by this dizi. Everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE seems to have an ulterior motive, plan or agenda. I can’t tell who’s real and who’s not save Sonny -boy ( who only appears to want Mean daddy’s approval, and Suhan’s BF-servant, who seems to just want what’s best for Suhan. She obviously knows that Bulent is not the man for Suhan, but she also doesn’t want Cesur to “play” her BF either. Everyone else, is suspect.

Even Suhan, who comes off as this smart, astute business person, isn’t really a good judge of character. Look at everyone she’s surrounded by. But she does have reason to suspect Cesur’s intentions, even though he’s a diamond in comparison to this cesspool! And is Adalet supposed to come off as this “sympathetic “ character now? Is she also a real enemy of Mean daddy and using him to get revenge too??

I’m also wondering if there was a sexual relationship between Bulent and the murderous surrogate??? Could he be baby daddy?? Lol. My imagination is running away with me, but I wouldn’t put anything past this group of miscreants……

Pasión de Gavilanes 2

What happened to Muriel's disturbing flashbacks, with a man in a towel? Did they cut that part off or did the writers totally forget about it?

Amor Val

Carmella, I will keep watching this show if only to see what Suhan will wear next . Plus , it is always interesting to watch the lengths that the woman who wants the galan will go to . Banu looks like she is focused and persistent. Do we know who the father of her kid is?

I am also fascinated by Suhan's ponytailed servant\friend and her beau. It must be awkward to ask your bff to iron your dress and tidy up your room .

Also, Thor seems like a big, strong, easygoing forest ranger for now. I am getting used to watching galans in Turkish dizis doing a lot of head butting\yelling\scowling\fuming . Miran\Sancar\Kamal\Kamran\Bali Bey\Osman looking right at you . Cesar always looks like he is ready to go on a nice long hike through the woods .

Amor Val

Hahaha Susalynn! Suhan is a stylish fashionista! Have to give her that! And that “red carpet,” “model runway” walk of hers! Completely opposite from nature boy, whom you also so aptly described, lol……

Amor Val

Carmella, If nothing else, these shows are a nice distraction .In Kara Para Ask , Tuba (Suhan) was opposite rigid Egin Akyurek who was a cop. These dizis seem to like the dynamic of the rich girl and the hunky, down to earth guy .

OT...my mother's family all lived in NJ when I was a kid ...Summit, Westfield , Fanwood, Springfield , Martinsville, Tom's River, Manahawkin ,so I used to be in NJ often as a kid and down the shore as an adult ..Cape May, Avalon, Stone Harbor .

OT

All places I’m familiar with Susalynn! I live in Central NJ in Franklin township…… I’m a Philly girl though, born and raised, and all my family still hails there, lol. I lived in California for about 6 yrs, between Sacramento and San Francisco in both Fairfield and Stockton……ahhh memories, lol……still, and always will have a fondness for California…….

OT...Carmella, have you watched "Mare of Easttown" ....the Delco accent sounds like Philly to me ( Bradley Cooper, Kevin Bacon)

OT

I did Susalynn! Loved it!! Well, as much as you can love those types of dramas, lol. And yes, those were PA accents. I’m a die hard “ROMANTIC” though, and I really enjoy the extremes! Either full of angst at one end, and comedy at the other. I have quite a few romantic dramas to watch on my list, and am slowly getting to them. Currently enjoying Erkenci Kus, or Daydreamer, which has both the angst, and is quite funny too……..

Pasión

Weirdo, they dropped the storyline completely never did follow up on Muriel's flashbacks.

OT...carmella, you should watch "Magnificent Century " , "Calikusa" and " Kurulus Osman all historical dizi s starring Burak (Great Hair):Ozcivit from Amor Eterno. " La Hija del Embajador" which is currently on Unimas at 11 p.m. And Dondi is recapping. It's romantic and good. Great acting and scenery.

amor-val

First some OT. I also watched Mare of Easttown. Kate Winslet is just a wonderful actor! Her progression from her youthful role in Titanic and the rather weather-beaten, middle-aged woman is very interesting.

Carmella, I'm pretty sure Bulent isn't the baby daddy. As I recall, the surrogate was lying to the evil SIL over the phone about being tucked up in bed. I think this is before the creepy video thing that came a bit later. [Does she watch her in the bathroom?] She went to a bar and I could hardly recognize her. She looked quite glamorous. So she and Bulent had an "across a crowded room" moment and ended up in bed together. She had to hustle him out of there when SIL showed up at her door. I think it's just a coincidence that Bulent met her.

amor-val

One of the things I find interesting about this dizi is that not everyone is completely bad. Well, maybe Tahsin. But he has vulnerabilities. And it almost seems like he may have known Adalet in the orphanage. She definitely knows who he really is and immediately told him about seeing Cesur in the old woman's room, which sealed the poor creature's fate. Of course, he seems a LOT older than she is, but that could just be how they cast it.

Bulent is a jerk, but he loves his mother and wants to help her with the revenge. They said right off the bat that Tahsin left Mehribar at the altar (literally?). One thinks that Korhan and Suhan's mother was a better catch or had more money.

I really disliked Korhan until that scene in the bar. This is another example of having sympathy for a character. It is odd that he dislikes his son so much and favors his daughter. Although...at one point Cesar, spying on Suhan in that mechanic's shop, mused that she's just like daddy dearest.

Even Evil SIL gets a bit of sympathy from me. She was living in fear because of not producing the "heir".

Thanks for the answer!

Amor Val

You make some good points novelera, and no one is all good or all bad. I did notice that Bulent said to Suhan that “It’s always been like this between us, since we were kids.” So they might’ve ended up brother and sister if not for Mean daddy backing out of the wedding……Bulent, though……setting a fire to intentionally kill someone? Not a good person no matter how much he loves his mother……..I don’t agree with DIL’s way of doing things, but I do understand what led her to this point of desperation………

Amor val

Is it possible that Korhan is not Tahsin's biological son? Do we know when and how Suhan's mother died ?

What does the woman in the hospital have to do with Cesar ?

AMOR VAL

Thanks to everyone who helped explain some of this.

Wasn't that Adalet lady in prison or something at the beginning?

Okay so was Cesur dad like world class famous painter? How did he end up in the army..or shouldn't he have been in something different? Like when Elvis was in? I can see copying already famous painting. That happens all the time and sold to some stupid conned collector. But copying your own work?

Cesur is the Magyver of Turkey in his kit with every tool.

It seems like a fairly high percent of these people have been highly medicated for decades.

Bff pony tail girl, except I have to clean your room, draw your bath etc...I think she is suhans milk sister. I don't know what happened to Suhans mother and formula was available at that time..but Tashin well a penny saved..

amor-val

Thanks VERY much, novelera, for your admirably concise and helpful recap. I'm still rather confused, but not nearly as much as I was before I read it. The only thing in the recap that I question is your saying that Suhan almost opened the container with the painting, but she was interrupted by Rifat's arrival. I haven't gone back to take another look, but I thought she actually had opened the container and put her hand down it and, perhaps, found nothing. That's when Rifat enters.

I groaned when Bulent assured his mother that he'd get revenge for all that Tahsin had taken from them, and that getting Suhan to marry him is part of his plan.Yikes, did the actor accidentally pick up the script for Cesur?? :-) Just what we need, TWO guys determined to get venganza via pretended amor. Will Hercai never leave us?

So it turns out that Rifat was fired from the police force because of theft. I wonder what he stole. Or whether he was framed.

Several people have said they were wondering just what relationship Sirin has with/to Suhan. At first, I assumed they were sisters, but now it seems that Suhan's only sibling is her brother, Korhan. So I'm still not sure about Sirin's relationship to Suhan. Also, I too began to feel a little more sympathy for Korhan after the scene in the bar with his father (one or two episodes ago). Or perhaps it wasn't so much sympathy as gratitude for letting Viewerville know about Tahsin's having been in an orphanage, and that almost everything Tahsin has claimed about his history is a lie.

I confess that I'm still quite confused about all the financial dealings. Where does Cesur get his money? What are we to make of the fact that the company Cesur is urging Tahsin to invest in is losing lots of money, and that Cesur is apparently involved in some way with the company? I hope perhaps all this will become clearer in tonight's episode (prefereably in the first half. I'm finding it hard to stay awake, let alone alert, during the second half).

Amor Val

So....was the old woman in the hospital who was talking to Cesar the head of the orphanage where Tahsin grew up. Was she killed ? I am pretty confused .

amor-val

Susanlynn, I think the answers to your questions are yes and yes. The old woman Cesur was talking to was someone called Mother Belkis, or something like that. She was apparently either a worker or, more likely, head of the orphanage, quite probably when Tahsin was there. And yes, she was murdered, again, probably on Tahsin's orders, or conceivably his lover's (Adelet?) orders. IIRC, she was very upset when she saw Cesur there.

Amor Val

Damn shame that worker of Mean daddy’s killed the old woman. That guy who’s always looking scared when Cesur sees him. I would say that he was the one who messed with Suhan’s horse in the beginning, but I don’t think he would do anything against Mean daddy——-unless all he cares about is money——-something DIL seems to throw around without a care. I wonder, too, if she comes from her own family money…………

Anyhoo, the old woman was already close to meeting her maker……what difference did it make if she babbled off about stuff? Dementia at her age is not unusual…………

I don't think anyone is planning to recap the finale and we just had an episode discussion.

A few things I recall from last night's episode:

The investment deal that Cesur recommended to Tahsin apparently was a good one. The price is soaring. Tahsin was advised by his son and by Bulent not to do it, and so he didn't. Much to his regret. He vows that next time....

Cesur comes by and shows everyone some old gold coins that he supposedly found on his land. And, according to him, there are lots more. Tahsin again berates his son, who had sold the land to Cesur.

Suhan overhears Rifat report to Cesur that the children in the orphanage used to refer to the woman in charge as Mother Belkis. Rifat also says that Tahsin was not at that orphanage, but at a different one. Rifat also tells him that there was a body found in the woods on March 5, 1987. Cesur says that that was the same day his father died. So there were two bodies, his father's and someone else. (I'm not yet sure what to make of all this.)

Cesur sees Suhan's car. He worries that she may have heard the discussion between him and Rifat. Meanwhile, Suhan has a flashback from her childhood of her mother slapping her father. Either in this flashback or a slightly later one, her mother accuses Suhan's father of being an assassin.

Suhan asks a guy who works for her father (perhaps the same guy who killed Mother Belkis, I'm not sure) whether he knows someone named Hasan Karahasanoglu (give or take a few letters). He says he doesn't. She goes back to the house and starts looking through files and letters. The guy she asked sees her doing this (through a window). We see another flashback, this one of Hasan and Tahsin, in which Hasan accuses Tahsin of stealing his paintings.

Tahsin and others return to the house and find Suhan in the room with all the files and documents. She says she was trying to find photos of her grandparents.

Cesur has two documents. One says that nothing of value was found on his land. The other says many things of value were found on his land. He says that the latter document will go to Tahsin.

Cesur tells the pharmacist (Adalet) that he wants to move his mother to his house, because he feels the clinic is not secure, especially after Mother Belkis's death. The cameras in MB's room suddenly failed to function. Adalet says she doesn't think MB's death was because of the clinic's negligence. (Not surprising, since she had gone to Tahsin concerned that Cesur was talking to MB, and Tahsin apparently had one of his baddies kill her.)

Adalet tells Tahsin she's worried that after 30 years, all will now come to light. (Whatever "all" referes to isn't yet clear, at least not to me.) Tahsin assures her it won't come to light.

We also learn that Adalet is the sister of someone in prison for murder. She has apparently been his only visitor.

Suhan asks Korhan to tell her about the past, about what she doesn't know. There's a flashback to mother calling father an assassin. Korhan overhears this.
He still tells Suhan he has nothing to tell her. She's doubtful, especially since "mother sent us to boarding school right after that night." Korhan insists she did it just because their father was a womanizer, no other reason.

Cahide and her surrogate learn that her surrogate is expecting a boy. Cahide calls Tahsin with the news that she's expecting a boy. Tahsin is ecstatic. Later, Cahide suggests naming her son Tahsin. Suhan suggests naming after Korshan's grandfather, Muzafer. Tahsin likes this idea (it gives him another tie to his phony past).

There's a lot I left out, and I don't guarantee that what I've said is correct, but....

Amor Val

Juanita, thanks so much. Is Hasan Cesar's father ?

The weirdest scene was Tahsin and Cahide singing their hearts out in the bar .... a villain who likes to sing .

Suhan's signature style is a short skirt and a long overcoat.

Red really wants to reclaim Thor in the worst way. ...or the best....or any way , but the Viking god is just not interested. In the episode where she went to all that trouble to make Suhan think that she and Thor had slept together in that hotel room, I kept thinking that I wouldn't have noticed any of those details and think that . Maybe I am oblivious most of the time . I probably would have thought that she was kind of a messy and liked a glass of wine....or two.

amor-val

Thanks so much, Juanita! The only way I can write even bare bones quasi recaps is to have a pen and some paper on the coffee table in the living room. This is why recaps are so useful. When another person writes a bit or a lot about what happened, the memories come back. Last night..no paper.

Yes, that right-hand guy of Tahsin does ALL his dirty work. And, based on last night's episode, he's also Sirin's father, something I hadn't really grasped. When Tahsin had the unmitigated gall to send him (Sahil?) to dig a huge hole on Cesur's property and Kemal caught him at it. Kemal then addressed him as suegro. Also the gold coins that were found and declared to be worth 5 times what the land itself were some kind of ancient, historical coins. Another kind of really over-the-top part of Cesur's vengeance plan. And that guy also killed the elderly woman in the nursing home.

So...it certain cultures, as always, a boy is the prize. If nothing else, I'll hang around to see how the hell Cahide manages to gradually grow a belly. She isn't all bad. She appeared pretty shocked at the surrogate's callousness about the doctor having been murdered. The surrogate didn't quite cop to having done it, but alluded to the fact that the people he owed money to having killed him kind of suited their purpose. To me, it would have been more advantageous to keep using him to create ever larger sonograms.

The thing that surprised me was Suhan finding out her father was a fraud so early. She doesn't know all of it, but she heard the part about him growing up in an orphanage.

It's already fading away, but Cesur took Suhan to some apartment building to back up a story about someone living there (his mother?). Then they showed a greyed-out scene of Rifat putting a name on the mailbox and somehow having mail in that name on a table (??)

Amor Val

Thank you Juanita. I like this drama, but many things still have me confused, but I’m sure the pieces will eventually fall into place. The “singing villians” scene was quite funny, but it seemed all enjoyed themselves except for Cesur. Maintaining his composure around Mean daddy is getting more and more difficult. It’s obvious that Mean daddy has some kind of dissociative personality disorder going on. To be able to steal another’s existence, and continue to cover your tracks without a care about who is affected takes nerve and the ability to distance oneself……..He knows that Hasan has a family, so he must be waiting for the ball to drop sometime????

amor-val

Thanks, all, for your insights and additions. Susanlynn, yes, Hasan is/was Cesur's father. And when Suhan suggests that they name her father's grandson-to-be Muzafer, Cesur looks very troubled. That's no surprise, since I'm pretty sure Muzafer is his grandfather, not Tahsin's (though Suhan doesn't know this--she's been brought up to think that the couple in the painting (the man's name was Muzafer) were her grandparents, her father's parents).

amor-val

Novelera, I think Cesur tries to show Suhan where Rifat's ex-wife lives so that Suhan will stop suspecting that Rifat was involved in some theft. When she goes over the camera footage of the crime scene with some investigator, she recognizes Rifat and sees that he was in the vicinity of the crime when it was committed. Cesur tells her that it was normal for Rifat to be there, because his ex-wife lives there, and his son used to live there, too, and still gets mail addressed to him there. As you point out, we see that Rifat has simply pasted his last name on the entry buttons, and apparently he and/or Cesur added some appropirate mail that Cesur was able to show Suhan. I'm not sure what the robbery was that Suhan is investigating, but it's quite possible, even likely, that Rifat was involved. It may have involved stealing stuff (back?) from the Korludags.

I'm still having a hard time keeping all the details straight. Like Camella, I'm fairly confident that things will eventually fall into place. Well, somewhat confident. :-)

Thank you Steve. I still wish they’d completed the remaining episodes for a more satisfying ending. Still, it was nice to see everyone again. Guess we’ll never know who sent the final letters, unless Telemundo tries this again. I also think that the 10pm time slot didn’t help with viewership here on the east coast……

Thanks to everyone for trying to straighten out this tale of confusion. I had a problem telling Rifat from Salih (Igor to Tashin's Dr. Frankenstein).

So it looks like Tashin, whacked all of Hassan's family then kinda assumed the identity. I don't really get it? How did no one in the area remember the original family? Wow so Salih is the father of that tribe that lives at the manse?

FEV

amor-val

Hi FEV. My guess is that Tahsin may have set the fire that killed Cesur's grandmother and, ultimately, caused his grandfather to kill himself out of grief. Tahsin may also have killed Hasan, Cesur's father. But none of this is absolutely certain yet, just strongly suggested in flashbacks. What does seem clear is that Tahsin is a very nasty piece of work. Of course, his daughter, Suhan, adores him, but she's gradually finding out that he's not the man she thought he was.
