La herencia #29 Wednesday 8/24/22 Sobre advertencia, no hay engaño/ If You Have Been Warned, There is No Deception

 1. The brothers talk in the  office at home. Pedro sarcastically announces that Simón's mother-in-law is alive and is just another one of their father's lovers. Simón tells him to put that topic to rest and that next weekend he is marrying Paloma. Pedro cannot resist making things as bad as he can and asks what proof does Simón have that  Paloma isn't  his sister.  Simón remembers his father Severiano insisting that he end his relationship with Paloma without giving him a good reason  except he didn't want him to suffer. Juan is sick of Pedro and his sarcasm. Pedro acknowledges "Saint" Juan's concern and jokingly tells his little brother that  it was just a joke. Juan talks about the seriousness of getting married and if Simón has made that decision, Juan supports him and congratulates him. Lucas is taken aback that Juan isn't going to oppose the wedding.  Juan says he would never oppose something that made his brothers happy.  Pedro takes umbrage with that saying that Juan has always supported his brothers that don't share a drop of his blood, but he, who does, is a different story.  He kicks him in the rear any time he can. Juan tells him not to try to manipulate his brothers and that he is just as important as their other brothers are to him. However, if he is talking about getting sole custody of Tadeo, he knows how he feels and he will support him  in the legal process only. They cannot play with the law. Simón brings the topic of the wedding back into focus saying that he is going to ask Modesto and Agustín to organize it.  He cannot wait until Paloma comes to live with him. That infuriates Lucas. Pedro asks what is going on between Lucas and Simón. Lucas says nothing but then informs Juan that Agustín  cannot do a thing to help with the wedding because  Pedro fired him. That is news to Juan. Pedro says he must have forgotten to tell them but the old man doesn't work there anymore and he won't be returning.

2. Adela arrives home late apologizing that she couldn't fix any food. She tells them all that something very ugly happened out at the hacienda and  asks Jessica to not share what she is going to tell them.  She witnessed Simón throw Sara out  of the hacienda, push her into the mud  and say such very  terrible things to her. Brayan is surprised because Sara seems to be a good woman. Snarky Jessica says that is because he doesn't know her very well. Adela cannot help but feel bad for Sara as does Agustín who thinks that Sara has the same rights as the brothers. He blames it on the huge hurt that Simón carries in his heart.

3. Juan asks how did Agustín end up fired. Pedro says he is also an owner of the hacienda and as such,  he can fire whoever he wants, too.  Lucas is put off because Agustín was so special to their father.  Pedro will not back down. Juan talks about Agustín being like a father to Severiano. He is a senior citizen!  Pedro refuses to argue about a decrepit old man nor is he in favor that an old man like Modesto help plan the wedding either. Are they planning on turning the hacienda into an old folks' home? Juan shouts that  he has had enough. It is impossible to not argue in their house.  Juan asks that they live in peace as before for the sake of their father's memory.  Pedro tells Juan he is blind because they never were the perfect family he thought they were.  They are not joined by the same blood. The only thing that they all share is that they were all forgotten bits and pieces gathered by the Del Monte's. That is why he feels like hating them all. He detests where they came from. Juan says that they may not be related by blood but their souls are related which is stronger than anything. Sara tells Pedro that she wishes she had the great love that they have between them and not to waste it. Pedro understands how it wasn't easy for Sara not being recognized by their father but he asks  her to imagine how he feels being adopted and not being loved in the first place. Simón declares Pedro to be is a state crisis from his traumas. Pedro puts Simón in his place telling him that he knows nothing of his traumas.  He has  no idea where he has  been or where he came from. Juan tries to shut Pedro up but Pedro refuses because the time has come for them to all know the truth. With tears in his eyes he declares that he and Juan are the sons of a prostitute. Everyone is quiet.

4. Rude awakening! Jessica tells Brayan that her tuition for school is 15,000 pesos a month. What to do? He explains that he cannot come up with that kind of money since he is paying the tuition for his little brother, expenses at the house and his grandfather's medicine. As they talk,  the roof is leaking on Jessica's head. He has high hopes for the future getting his administrative degree and believing that  nothing is impossible if you want it enough. Jessica has a great idea. If they go live at her mother's house, he won't have all of theses expenses and will be able to save.

5. Juan is upset saying that what Pedro told them was their private business. Pedro says it was time, no matter how much it hurt Juan, that everyone knew the truth already. Juan doesn't like the truth out in public after all their parents did for them. Pedro says they didn't do anything for him. Simón tells him not to go acting all high and mighty. Sara reminds them that her father abandoned her, too. She didn't have a father to adopt her like they did no matter how much she needed him. Simón cannot help but accuse Sara of acting like the vicim as she always does. Thye all have their own traumas to deal with. Lucas states that you don't get to choose your family, you accept it and the six of them are siblings. Simón CORRECTS him saying there are  only FIVE of them. It is better that the five of them talk among themselves and not in front of outsiders. Lucas reminds them they all have to respect Sara not only because she is a woman (so men do not have to respect each other?) but because she is their sister. Juan says they cannot live in the past but their pain can make them stronger. He tells Pedro he knows what he feels. He does not agree with him and adds that he never did anything to take their parents' love away from him.

6. Mateo has shown up drunk at Juli's house and is spouting off from his perch on the couch. Juli  wants him to call up Juan to come and get him. He tells her to do whatever so he can wake up in a rehab center. . . . Prospi comes out and asks what is going on. Rosa says Mateo arrived a little drunk and that Juli can take him home.  Mateo passes out on the couch. Juli tries to rouse him to get him to leave. He grabs her and smiles as Prospi and Rosa look on in horror.

7. Jessica says that living there with his family is like they are  not really living at all. Brayan sees his life as full of love and that married couples have to get used to solving  problems that pop up. She tries to explain that this is not the life she is used to, not with water leaking through the roof. Brayan says it isn't forever. He asks her if she can put up with him or not.

8. At the supper table, without the presence of Pedro, Juan says he got a note from Adela who is worried about her father now that he no longer has a job. It is decided that Simón will talk to Agustín and rehire him. Lucas thinks that it would be better for Juan to go because he is less aggressive. Juan wants to know what is going on between Simón and Lucas.  Lucas  thinks it is better to just have supper. Simón  states that tomorrow he will go and see Agustín and to to the packaging plant as Juan ordered him to do.

9. Juli has escaped Mateo's embrace and Prospi tries to awaken the passed out Mateo. He threatens to talk to Juan and the police if he doesn't leave.  Mateo says he only came to see Juli and tries to hug her. Prospi grabs him and tells him to leave his daughter in peace as he pushes him to the door. Rosa tries to intercede telling  Prospi he doesn't have to be so mean. Little Mateo is a Del Monte after all! Prospi lets Mateo go and turns on Rosa roaring in her face that he has had ENOUGH. She takes a few steps back as he grabs Mateo and asks her if she didn't want him to act like a man. Well, that is what he is doing.  He is the head of his household! He takes Mateo out. Berta likes what she is seeing.  Rosa doesn't understand why Juli wouldn't be interested in Mateo.

10. Simón cannot let sleeping dogs lie and has to ask if Juan is analyzing him and Lucas.  Juan says there is no need because he  knows them well enough to know there is something going on between them. Lucas makes excuses says they are all really nervous about the business, Henry, what Pedro said about their birth mother, and having to deal with Mateo.  Juan agrees that they have to do something about Mateo. Juan is very sorry but it seems they have  no other choice other than to put  Mateo in a rehab center.  Simón assures Juan that neither he or Lucas will judge him about what Pedro told them about his birth mother. (So why would Juan and Pedro have anything to be embarrassed about or feel responsible for if their mother was a sex worker??) Simón thinks it is time to put the past to behind them because if they don't, they will have no room for the present. Juan insists that all he is concerned about is his future with his brothers and adds that he hopes that  Simón  will be very happy at Paloma's side. Simón doesn't miss the chance to antagonize Juan by saying that  he is sorry he cannot say the same to him about Sara.  Juan tells him not to start. All Simón is asking is that Juan  think really hard about his relationship with Sara and not let his feelings take over. He knows that Juan is smart. Lucas would rather that they return to  discussing  Simón's future wedding. Inspire of what Simón said,  Juan tells him that he can count on him for everything. He knows that Simón knows what he is doing and  that he and Paloma will be successful. Simón thanks him for his confidence. Simón wants Modesto by his side since he has had so much experience in this kinds of things. Juan agrees that he has been like  father to all of them. Simón adds that it is Juan  who he wants to  accompany him to the altar  as if he were his father. Juan accepts and they hug.

11. Sara is talking to her father  telling him  that she thought that her brothers would be different. They will never understand that she was only looking for his love but after tonight, she doesn't care if they understand or not.

12. Lucas goes to find Pedro and ask if he is coming down to eat.  Pedro  isn't coming down but wants to talk to Lucas. Pedro apologizes to Lucas for having hit him. He knows that Juan is most interested in the t brothers being united. Lucas  tries to explain that the four of them serve as his role models. It really throws him off when they all become aggressive and rude. That is not what their parents taught them. Pedro has to smile saying that they might have been  "taught" to be kind and but their temperament runs in their blood. Lucas says that he never imagined what Pedro's mother would be like.  Truth be told, he knows nothing about his own mother and she could be even worse. Pedro insists that  he doesn't regret telling them all where he and Juan came from. Lucas thinks that Pedro isn't the only one who is suffering because of his past. They say that alcoholism is all that Mateo's parents left him and Mateo's love for Juli is a curse. Everyone has some opinion about his life. Pedro apologizes for having dragged Lucas  and his other brothers into the issues he has with Juan. Lucas  says of all the times times life has "struck" them, it was surely a "lucky strike" when it  made them all brothers.   The brothers love each other a lot and hug.

13. Back at the supper table, Simón is asking Juan if he knows that Pedro likes Sara. Juan answers that he doesn't give it much importance because with Pedro it is all about the competition. Simón asks him if he thinks that  Sara came on to Pedro. Juan tells Simón that is a very serious accusation with no foundation. He reminds Simón that Sara is his partner and that he has to respect her just like he respects his relationship with Paloma. Simón starts lecturing his brother on how at the start of a relationship,  you are presented with a lot of information. He is just asking Juan to think hard about his relationship with Sara, not to get more involved, not to make a mistake. Juan thanks him for his concern but makes it clear that Sara is the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with. He is certain that she would not be putting the moves on Pedro or anyone. Her behavior is impeccable. As for Pedro's interest, Juan has concluded that  Pedro wants to take Sara  away from him like he wants  take the presidency away from him.  For Pedro, Sara is just a trophy. Juan doesn't want to have to fight anymore with his brothers about  the love he feels for Sara. He is only asking that they support him as he has  always supported them.  Simón gets up having decided that  he has  to tell Juan something.  After all of the drama of the moment, he tells Juan that having them all as his brothers is the best thing that ever happened to him and he will fight with them against whoever  threatens them. Juan and Simón hug.

14. In tears, Mateo has found his way to the chapel where he apologizes to and tells his father that he is failing. He isn't anybody. He caresses the urn holding Severiano's ashes and sobs  over his love for Juli. He blames his damn alcoholism for all of his problems.  He cannot control it. He doesn't know what to do. He swears to God he is going  to stop drinking.

15. Sara has concluded that she feels very much alone but that is  not a new feeling. She has always felt like that and has been able to go on ahead. The time has arrived to take control.

16. Paloma and Bea are talking.  What is happening to Paloma  hurts Bea a lot.  Paloma says it was hard for her to hide her love for Simón all that time.  Her father saw her cry so many  times over her mother and never told her the truth. Bea tells her that it hasn't been easy for her father having to face what he had to so she needs to be strong for him, too. Bea says she is talking from experience. What it comes down to is that Paloma cannot tolerate the fact that her father lied to her. Bea tries to console her. No matter what,  she has her father and her mother is alive. Paloma doesn't know if she will ever be able to forgive her. A mother never abandons her child.

17. Lucas goes looking for Mateo and he isn't in his room. He tries calling him.

18. Prospi is in bed when Rosa comes in and asks him of he is going to eat supper. He says that having to deal with that drunk Mateo killed his appetite. She is waiting for Deb so she can talk to her. She reminds him how hard this is for her. She gets no pity from Prospi who reminds  her that she was the one  who invited Deb  to stay, so now it is her job to get her out. Rosa reminds him he just said he was the man of the house. Prospi accuses her of  only wanting  him to be the man of the house when it suits her.  He also has news for Rosa that  will change everything. He is going to sell the fabric store.

19. Juan goes knocking on Sara's door. She opens the door and they agree that they need each other. He will never let her go! After the initial kissing, Sara warns him not to betray her. She feels that all of the problems in the family always end up on her plate and she is tired.  Juan says that is how he feels, too, because those problems are his.  They undress and have a fine old time.  (A RECAPPER BREAK of  90 seconds!)

20. Rosa tries to talk  Prospi out of selling the store.  She predicts he will cause their ruin. She reminds him of the embarrassment he caused her when her credit card was  declined. She doesn't know why they have to change their lifestyle because of his inability to manage their money.  Prospi insists he is doing it for their family. She says if he is really interested in doing something for the family he should arrange for Juli to marry Mateo. He tells her he would never do anything like that. Rosa says she doesn't care where he finds money but the store will not be sold.

21. Sara and Juan are still in bed. For him it was love at first sight knowing she would be the love of his life. Juan  has never stopped thinking about  her since that first moment. He loves everything about her. Sara is also so very happy at his side, too! They love everything about each other!! Suddenly there's a knock at the door. Without waiting for Sara to  answer, Pedro barges in asking if she is there and gets an eyeful of Juan with only his pants on and of Sara who is dressed only in Juan's shirt.

22. Rosa is suddenly yelling for Juli and Alondra. Prospi doesn't get what is going on. Rosa tells her daughters that their father is crazy because he wants to sell the store.  Juli sounding concerned asks why??Are things that bad? Alondra thinks it could be the best decision so they could get rid of that Deb woman.  Rosa asks what does she have against her friend. Prospi says Deb is way too much involved  here and at the store. Juli think that getting rid of the fabric store is drastic. Rosa says that the store is hers and she will not allow it to be sold. She blames their current financial situation on their father's bad administrative skills. The store is the only thing they have to keep supporting them. Alondra puts Prospi on the  spot asking  if he wants to sell the store because of the money or because he wants to get rid of Deb.  He says it is because of Deb.

23. Pedro is still standing in the doorway just looking at both of them. Sara tells him that he cannot just come into her room any time he wants. Juan says it is a lack of respect. Pedros forces a smile and  says he will see Sara  in the office.  He leaves. Sara says that the way Pedro looks scares her some times.  Juan tells her not to worry. He tries to bring up a work topic but Sara reminds him that they cannot mix work life and their personal life. Juan smiles. They kiss some more.

24. Lucas runs into Pedro in the hall telling him that they need to find Mateo. Pedro informs  him that Juan can't help. He is being entertained by Sara in her room. Lucas asks alone?  The answer is yes. Lucas acceptingly nods but before they can get into more conversation about Juan, Mateo comes stumbling down the hall. Mateo mumbles something and Pedro tells him is it always the same with him. It is such a pity. Mateo laughs as he clings to the wall. He tells Pedro how much he loves him and  hugs him along with Lucas. Mateo asks them to say nothing to Juan  so he doesn't send him to rehab. Pedro informs him that patience has its limits. Sooner or later, Juan will have to make a decision concerning him. Lucas grabs Mateo and supports him walking down the hall to get him a bath and some coffee.

25. Rosa demands to know what Deb has done so they hate her so much. Rosa asks Prospi what has Deb  ever done to him. Alondra pipes up saying that her father is going to tell her. Juli asks what is going on between Deb and him. Prospi thinks for a second and then says that nothing is going on between him and Deb. Deb is going out with Salvador. Alondra says that isn't the truth. Deb has another lover. That piques Rosa's interest. She tells Prospi to tell her everything he knows. Prospi says yes, Deb has another lover by the name of Dante, the Del Monte's lawyer. Alondra is not pleased that Prospi didn't come clean.

26. Juan calls Dante to tell him to come to breakfast at the hacienda and that  he wants him to attend the meeting with the other investors at the company. Juan also wants to know how his research into using Sara's inheritance  to reimburse their losses due to the fertilizer debacle  is going. Dante says isn't easy because they are going to have to try to hide the fact that the money is coming out of the rainy day fund  and his brothers are not fools. He doesn't like to fool anyone and doesn't like that Juan is asking him to be dishonest. Juan knows but he has to have things go as planned. Dante smiles and say he will do it for him and the great love he has for Sara. Juan will protect her with his own life it it comes to that. Juan has one more question. He asks Dante if he knows anything about his real mother. Dante  says he knows nothing about his birth mother. Juan then tells him to forget about it. He doesn't know why he asked.

27. Sara visits Pedro in the office. She starts to explain and he cuts her off.  He tells her that sex is nothing to be afraid of.  She agrees and says that isn't the point she is making.  She doesn't want him opening  the door to her room. He agrees and he asks if they can concentrate on the upcoming meeting. She agrees and doesn't lose her cool.

28. Juli is surprised because Dante is married. Prospi says that is  why they are not going to say anything because he saw them kissing in a restaurant. Rosa cannot believe it. Juli thinks that Juan has to know about that because Dante's position is very sensitive. Alondra comments that Deb likes married men. Prospi asks Juli to say nothing because he is the only one who knows. Prospi leaves to make a call. Juli still cannot believe it.

29. Prospi is in another room calling himself a damn coward when Alondra appears telling him that Deb has to disappear from the house and his life. He has gotten involved in something very sensitive. Jessica told her everything.  She knows everything!

30. Sara and Pedro talk business. Things seem to be  on the upswing. She asks if Henry will cause any more problems. He says no. He and Juan put him in his place. At the same time, Henry is calling him on his cell phone. Sara notices that as he declines the call. She asks why Henry would be calling. He says to continue threatening them after what just happened at his office. Pedro asks if she talked to  Juan about the embezzlement. She says no. He warns her to be careful with the words and caresses of a "don Juan"  like Juan. She asks what he is referring to. He insists that she understands what he is saying and adds a popular saying: "Sobre advertencia, no hay engaño" (If you have been warned, there is no deception)

Hmmm . . If Henry is no longer a threat, according to Pedro, why is he still calling????

Too bad, Simón wasn’t the one to enter Sara’s room. He probably would have imploded and disintegrated on the spot sort of like the Wicked Witch of the West. If only we were so lucky . . .

Prospi really did well tap dancing through the mine field in reference to his dalliance with Deb.

More mañana.

Jarifa - thank you for your recap. And it is up as soon as the episode ended! These actors speak so fast sometimes that I miss half the conversation and CCs can't even keep up. Recaps help so much! ♥ Millones de gracias!

"Rosa doesn't understand why Juli wouldn't be interested in Mateo."
Rosa turns my stomach over this. Who wants to be saddled to a lifetime with a chronic drunk? No amount of money is worth that. Rosa's values are so sadly twisted.

Mateo obviously never heard of AA or a treatment center? Please. He doesn't quite yet have the gift of desperation to actually do something about his drinking; he only wants to whine and feel sorry for himself. Ya basta.

I was worried Mateo was going to drop Sev's wooden urn/box and ashes would go all over the floor.

Doesn't the door to Sara's bedroom have a lock? With all the people who live there? Good grief.

"Sobre advertencia, no hay engaño" --- I had to look that one up. There is one web site that equated to our English version "forwarned is forearmed" although the original Spanish version they used is "aviso". Maybe it is the same thing?

Jarifa, you could not have chosen a more fitting title for this action packed, pivotal episode that you relayed flawlessly. You are a consummate writer.

I was genuinely taken aback that the brothers did not know Juan and Pedro’s mother was a prostitute. In all their years together, most would have shared their secrets, the deepest roots of their origins. Juan clearly wanted this truth buried. Yet, once revealed, Pedro’s expression mirrored how grievous this wound was and still is. I have had no pity for Pedro, especially recently, but did so here. Briefly.

Juan and Sara’s romantic scene was sweet although I have to say that Juan’s plentiful tattoos were very distracting.

Juan finally learns Pedro fired Augustin with the expected outcome. “Pedro refuses to argue about a decrepit old man nor is he in favor that an old man like Modesto help plan the wedding either”. Let’s add ageism to the growing list of Pedro’ prejudices.

Simon doesn’t seem to have any understanding how monstrous his behavior with Sara was. No guilt, no apology. I have to believe Juan will find out somehow.

I loved Lucas’ wise “They say that alcoholism is all that Mateo's parents left him and Mateo's love for Juli is a curse”. Mateo was pathetic but the actor was marvelous tonight. So Juan is only NOW thinking treatment as a course of action for Mateo?? Doris, your “I was worried Mateo was going to drop Sev's wooden urn/box and ashes would go all over the floor” had me smiling away – I thought the same thing!

I am looking forward to how Paloma’s mother will try and explain herself. A wedding next week? Meh. Doubtful…

“Prospi really did well tap dancing through the mine field in reference to his dalliance with Deb” made me laugh Jarifa. He certainly did! His revelation that Dante was Deb’s lover was a total shot in the dark that miraculously found its mark. Well, it has mollified Rosa, at least for the moment although Alondra – not so much.

I expected Jess to break into a rousing rendition of raindrops keep falling on my head. Honestly, I couldn’t blame her for wanting to leave at that point.

Jarifa, a marvelous bed time story. I’ll have visions of villains dancing in my head tonight. Thank you so much.

Diana

Amazing recap, Jarifa!

""Rosa doesn't understand why Juli wouldn't be interested in Mateo."
Rosa turns my stomach over this. Who wants to be saddled to a lifetime with a chronic drunk? No amount of money is worth that. Rosa's values are so sadly twisted." Couldn't agree more, Doris.

I, too, thought that Mateo would drop the ashes.

More later or tomorrow.

Diana, those tats were very distracting for me, too. Reminded me of Adam Levine.

How on earth did Mister Henry know J & P's mother was a prostitute?

Wah! My bingo cards seem to be frozen in time.

Doris, what are you waiting for to Bingo???

Great job, Jarifa.

You can't choose your parents and everyone of the del Montes' boys' generation needs to learn this. I think that is the theme of this story alongside with what greed does to people.

I can definitely understand Juan and Pedro because unless a DNA sweep is possible they will likely never learn who their sperm donors were. I think that they are half-brothers since it is likely that their egg donor got pregnant as an occupational hazard. Her contraception failed her and that is the most likely reason she abused them. She resented their very existence. They can know that intellectually but that doesn't erase the emotional damage they took in childhood. Juan is capable of loving but Pedro may never be without a good shrink to straighten him out and get him to deal with his anger. I think his resentment of Augustin and Modesto is about how much they know about the family.

We know that alcoholism is at least partly heritable and Mateo could have been born with fetal alcohol syndrome. It was eventually discovered that a child of alcoholic parents can probably avoid the curse by abstaining until after age 21. But did Severiano and Catalina get that memo?

We know from Amado that Lucas was given up because of poverty. We do not know what kind of monsters spawned Simon whose memories of his parents are probably deeply buried since he doesn't say anything about them.

Rosa is a nightmare mother: controlling and pretentious at the same time. Juli Stepford seems to finally confront this only to back off; we can expect that for the short term. Add her greed in wanting all of her daughters to marry into the del Monte clan no matter how damaged the guys are is truly toxic.

Deborah does Rosa one worse: She actively tells Sara that love does not exist. Unlike Rosa she has the social skills to manipulate men and she takes great pleasure in doing so. Since she is involved with two married men at the same time and hopes to take them for money she is far more dangerous than Rosa. She also got the ball rolling on the destruction of the del Monte family and we have no guarantee that she will fail in that endeavor.

Something had to have been very wrong in Salvador and Irma's marriage for her to cheat on and leave him to raise their daughter alone. He has become controlling but we know he is right about Simon. While Pedro might have been looking to hurt Simon with the implication that Paloma could be their sister in the same way that Sara is this is not out of the realm of possibility.

We still don't know what happened to Modesto's wife.

Ditto about Severiano's ashes and I agree about Simon melting at the sight of Juan and Sara in her room. They should have locked the door knowing the hostile attitudes of Simon, Mateo, and Pedro.

Jarifa, wow, Thank you for that detailed recap as we witness all these characters continue to push each other's buttons.

Well, Augie will get his job back now that Juan has found out that Pedro fired him. What is up with Pedro's lack of respect for his elders ? Is it because they were Sev's loyal workers ? His resentment of Sev is intense , and he doesnt have the love for Catalina that the other boys seem to have which is the one thing that unites the other four brothers.

Every family has a peacemaker , and in this fractured family , it is sweet, innocent Lucas dressed like a skipper on a boat.

I have had enough of watching drunk Mateo. However, in the scene of him in the hallway with Pedro and Lucas, Mateo grabbed Pedro's face , and Daniel ( Pedro) seemed to start laughing . I'll bet that was a fun scene. I can only imagine what is happening behind the scenes between this young cast.

Sarah and Juan finally did the deed, and who knew staid, serious Juan had all those tats under his buttoned up shirt??? Of course, the door is unlocked, and,Pedro gets an eyeful.

Jarifa: Thank you very much for the recap of last night's episode.

Juan & Goldie Locks Sara FINALLY got their freak on. Awww!

All was well until Psycho Pedro barged in the room.

Diana: I'm getting an ugly horrible feeling that a likely confrontation between Psycho Pedro & Agustin is inevitable.

Steve Boudreaux

Urban - excellent observations all around. ITA
" But did Severiano and Catalina get that memo?" Nope, not in Smalltown, Mexico. Sev was too busy seducing all the women of Smalltown, Mexico and Catalina was too busy ignoring it. Sev must have been a sex addict; he just couldn't keep it in his pants.

Do we know what happened to Modesto's wife?

Jarifa - my Bingo cards are all stuck, too. I'm not sure if I can check off "Te lo juro" if the comment was made to plural (Uds vs tú) but it's not a deal maker anyway.
- If protagonista Sara would just get herself engaged to "someone other than galán", I would have a bingo. Does not look like that will happen.
- Or if someone wold end up in a "Coma", I would have a Bingo.

My brain is so fried after watching these episodes that Bingo is often the last thing on my mind. This telenovela is much darker than I anticipated. Which is why I don't watch the 10ET/9CT ones.

Love the comments!

Doris, ITA that Mateo is no where he needs to be thinking that he can overcome his addiction this without appropriate support and treatment. As for the proverb, to me, it is similar to “forewarned is forearmed” . There are so many versions of proverbs from language to language. Some have identical meanings while others are similar but not exactly the same.

Diana, thanks for mentioning the tattoos. They were distracting. It looked like a woman’s face on his arm? They probably should have used some makeup to cover up some of them. Here is hoping that Simón is in Paloma’s rear view mirror by next weekend and she is not in a wedding dress.

Weirdo, yes, Rosa isn’t too swift wanting to condemn her daughter to a life with an alcoholic all for the $$$$.

Urban, now that would be a good twist if Paloma ended up being Severiano’s daughter. Then sicko Simón would have to worry about the inheritance being split among seven of them with the two females not being quite worthy in his eyes because of their mothers.

Susanlynn, good point about what the behind scenes must be like with this young cast. I, too, wonder why Pedro hates Agustín and Modesto like he does. Does it go beyond them being “old”?

Yes, It was surprising that Sev’s ashes didn’t end up on the floor. Too funny.

I was in shock at those tattoos. I am strongly of the opinion that actors should not get them.

Someone in the makeup department covered up Jose Ron's tattoos during the 25-ep Rubi but he didn't have many shirtless scenes in that. I can deal with one tattoo on an upper arm but things are trending to having them all over. That is a fad I would like to see disappear.

Thank you for this impressive recap, you didn't miss a detail... good thing you had that 90 seconds recapper break, I'm sure it made a difference :)) And speaking of, now we've seen 4 of the 5 Del Monte brothers in a state of semi nakedness. I was surprised to see all those tattos, too, I think I even saw some on his legs when the camera angle allowed it. I'm not againts them, but it seemed like a bit much.
The love scene was OK, but it happened at a time when both characters were feeling down, especially Sara; to me it felt more like an escape, not exactly the "edge of your seat" fulfilment of a lifetime.

Sara wanting to keep Simon's agression hidden from Juan makes novela sense, but shouldn't she tell her good friend Paloma that she's marrying an agressive man? What will Simon do if Paloma decides to stay friends with Sara after the wedding, kick her out of the house?

I am not against tatoos. A couple years ago, our older daughter suggested that she, her sister , and I should get matching tatoos..something tiny , but we never followed through . I have considered getting a tiny one on my wrist ...but haven't so far although I dropped by the local tattoo parlor to get info. Even tiny ones are expensive .

Adriana, it did ,indeed ,seem as though some sexual healing ( shout out to Sam Cook) was taking place since both Sara and Juan are surrounded by problems and disfunction. An escape from the madness swirling around them from The Brothers Grim .....and others .

"Sexual Healing" was by Marvin Gaye.

Thanks, Jarifa. Super recap. Always amazed at how you make things so clear and so quickly. And this was a talky episode with much convo to cover. I'm glad you caught a wee break with Juan and Sara getting it on.

Pedro refuses to argue about a decrepit old man nor is he in favor that an old man like Modesto help plan the wedding either. Are they planning on turning the hacienda into an old folks' home?

Yes, please! I would happily watch a show with Modesto and Augustin as wedding planners.

Simón declares Pedro to be is a state crisis from his traumas.

Pot --> kettle

I guess makeup couldn't be bothered covering up Matías Novoa's tattoos. Too much for my taste. I remember a big one of a cartoon woman's face and a big rocket-like thing on his back. All the other Del Monte boy's are tattoo-less, so Juan must've had a wild summer off by himself to get those tats. And Pedro didn't even try to best him. Go figure.

Anonymous...whoops ...yes, Marvin Gaye. I was a fan of both of them.

I am relieved that Daniel Elbittar never went that route. He has a beautiful physique.

We don't know much about the teen years of these brothers' lives but I think that they must have sewn a few wild oats and Severiano would not have been too critical of that. Modestoight have lectured th individually on taking precautions.

Tonight is episode 30 out of 80 so if Severiano did as much tomcatting as we are led to believe we will see more results.

It should at some point occure to the guys that if Sara had been a boy instead their own situations might be substantially worse.

"Yes, please! I would happily watch a show with Modesto and Augustin as wedding planners". HA! Me too Niecie, me too!!! That would be hysterical.

Susanlynn, A few tats are fine with me too. But not only were there too many, none of them were at all appealing, especially that huge skull. I honestly couldn't make out what most of them were and I didn't want to! :).

Urban, too bad they didn't check with Jose Ron to find out what could have been done to lessen the sting. Let's face it, Juan isn't exactly bad to the bone. It just took away from their love scene which you captured so well Adriana "...it felt more like an escape, not exactly the "edge of your seat" fulfilment of a lifetime".

Diana

Niecie, yes! The pot calling the kettle black. They are both so despicable.

Man, do I hate typing on my phone. When I go to the next line I can't see mistakes half the time.

They definitely should have consulted the makeup department from Rubi about this. Not only were those tats very distracting, they don't jive with this character. If he had married Juli Stepford I can only imagine her shock at them. More amusingly, Rosa would faint for real at the first pool party.

Urban, exactly . One wouldn't expect serious, conservative, responsible Juan to have those tattoos . They would be much more in character with Pedro, the wild, bitter rebel...yes. Maybe they wanted to give us a "still waters run wild..don't judge a book by its cover " vibe. Hey, look how wild and crazy this quiet, stkic, steady guy really is . shhhh

Susanlynn: Get used to seeing the villains keep winning for awhile.
