Urban, you're the one who's recapping yesterday's episode, right?
Ah, Los Ricos También Lloran. I haven't watched the original and I'm not planning on watching this too. I'm waiting for La Mujer de mi Vida on Telemundo and I honestly need a small break in-between telenovelas.
¿La Muerte de Roxana?
Part 1 of 3
Alejandra threatened Michelle with making her disappear if she reveals her secret. She was to be on her best behaviour. She stuck the knife in deeper by telling her she would have made a great prostitute.
Alfredo showed up at the cocktail party to annoy Lucia; Fernando told him off quietly, saying that the only thing that excused his presence was that he was Michelle's novio.
Lucía witnessed Leonardo's humiliation of Casilda. She re[roached him, saying that he was no gentleman.
Alejandra drank a toast to Lucía who thanked her for being at an important moment for her. She then spoke of how she met Fernando and how much she loved him. He said similar things. Alejandra looked sincere for a change.
Paulina was at an outdoor table of a bistro with Nestor. She was thinking about the future. She later said that Michelle still had not seen that Alfredo was a no-goodnik.
Michelle made a very insincere speech wishing Lucia well. Neither Lucia nor Fernando were fooled. When he said they wanted to get married next week Alejandra asked if Lucia was pregnant. Lucia replied she was not, but it wouldn't be a bad thing. Alejandra said she didn't feel quite ready to be a grandmother. Isaura laughed, and Marta spoke of her eagerness to be a grandmother.
Lucia thanked Isaura and Alejandra for making her who she is now [I personally think that her father was who made her the good person she is]. Alejandra (reluctantly, by her body language} accepted that Isaura continue living with her.
Michelle was about to have an argument with Alfredo when Alejandra entered the room and told him that if he wants to continue living in Mexico he had better stay away from Lucia.
Casilda asked Isaura if she found out anything about her mother. This conversation ended when Isaura told her to change because that dress made her even uglier. After she left Pilar asked about this but before they could talk about it Roxana arrived with Carlos.
¿La Muerte de Roxana?
Part 2 of 3
Alejandra confronted her and indicated she was not welcome. She looked at her with disdain, saying that despite Rafael's money she still has no refinement. Marta, Fernando, and Lucia entered the room, Marta wondering what Roxana was doing there. Fernando told Roxana she was not welcome. She told him she was there to collect the money he owed her. He told her that was neither the time nor place. She then announced to Lucia that he had been boinking both of them at the same time. Fernando said this was a lie and Marta told her to leave. Roxana tried to elaborate on this lie, but Lucía did not believe her. Carlos told her they should leave and finally they did.
Michelle seemed to have realized Alfredo's obsession with Lucia and told him to leave.
Marta was still shocked at Roxana's obsession and finally realized that she had been wrong about Lucia. After they left Lucia told Michelle she saw through her lies. She told her to open her eyes and realize that Alfredo is not a good person. She did not expect that she and Michelle would become friends, but only asked her to not cause more issues for their families.
In court Lucía's lawyer showed the video of Heriberto blackmailing the house out of Jacobo, which provoked his heart attack. Heriberto denied knowing that Jacobo was in poor health. The judge wanted a witness, but was told she had not yet arrived. Heriberto's lawyer argued that the video is inadmissible because it was captured by a hidden camera, a violation of privacy. The judge ruled that they did not have testimony from whoever set up the camera. Heriberto smirked through all of this.
Fernando signed the papers giving Rafael his share of the business. Paulina handed in her resignation.
Lucia finally told the judge that Heriberto tried to abuse her on multiple occasions. She had been looking for justice all this time. Heriberto smirked to himself.
When Lucia left the courtroom Alejandra and Casilda arrived outside the building. She said that the judge accepted the evidence (?) and she had the deed to the house bur this was not enough. She was about to explain when Isaura showed up with lame excuses regarding her absence. Alejandra said to accept this for now; sooner or later the law would catch up with this creep. They were taking her shopping for her wedding dress.
Roxana threatened Carlos with sending him back to jail... unless he kills Lucia. He seemed to agree and she called him an imbecile.
Fernando and Paulina packed up their stuff. Nestor led the other employees to wish them well. Rafael and Diego saw this. Diego did nothing; Rafael did a sarcastic slow applause.
Roxana told Fernando over the phone that she refused to allow him to transfer the money to her. HE was to bring it to her in cash. She would tell him where. She ended the all and Rafael entered the room, telling her it would be alright. He kissed her.
Fernando and Lucia began painting the interior of her house. They stopped to pay homage to Venus.
¿La Muerte de Roxana?
Part 3 of 3
A week later Roxana called Fernando to tell him where to deliver the money, telling him that Rafael will be waiting in the street in case of trouble. She then said she was most bothered with how quickly he wanted her out of his life. He was to go to the cabaña they used to go to. He didn't like the idea but she asked for this for the last time they would see each other.
Casilda took a second pregnancy test and confirmed that she was expecting Leonardo's child. Casilda was shocked, saying “I am going to have Leonardo's baby!” Neither she nor Lucia knew that Isaura was eavesdropping right outside the door.
Fernando arrives at the cabin to give Roxana the money; he was seen by the manager whom he told he would be leaving shortly. He entered with the big envelope and she opened a bottle of wine. With her back turned toward him she drugged the glass she intended for him before pouring in the wine. When she handed it to him he sniffed the wine but did not drink it. She said that was an insult. He told her he had brought her money, saying he had no ill will. HE told her he hoped she would find happiness, then put the glass on the table. She put hers down, followed him to the door, and grabbed him into a kiss. He pushed her away, saying “How many times do I have to tell you that I don't want anything to do with you anymore?” She pulled her desperation act once more, scratching his chest with her claws in the process. He told her he wanted her to disappear from his life and made it out the door. She came out and yelled after him as he went to his car. When he had pulled out and was on his way she went back inside and drank the rest of her glass. When she turned around she went “No, no,” as a man in black whose face we do not see shot her, hitting her near the bottom of her rib cage.
I didn't see that coming so soon! We still have 16 more episodes so the other evil ones will ramp up their evil to pick up any slack.
I think Rafael shot her and that he was wearing a balaclava to avoid being identifiable by anyone else.
Urban, such a fantastic recap. I'm glad I didn't watch this, the episode itself must have been pretty meh, except from the ending. Again, the recap was great.
The whole court thing was weird. At first it seemed as if Heri was winning and then Lucía suddenly could have her house back? Or not? Odd. I'm still scratching my head. This is not properly explained yet.
Oh no, I hope they don't make Casi and Leo end up together. This relationship would be wrong on so many levels. Also, Casi should have gone to a gynaecologist to check if she's pregnant, not just do random pregnancy tests.
"Roxana threatened Carlos with sending him back to jail... unless he kills Lucia." WTF! Rox is one part sly, two parts annoying and two parts dangerous, making her the perfect annoying villan. Classic. I definitely did NOT expect her to die already.
Speaking of already, we are in Últimas Semanas! What? When did this happen? Only 16 episodes to go...
Also, "I think Rafael shot her and that he was wearing a balaclava to avoid being identifiable by anyone else." ITA.
Third comment in a row, but oh, well...
This one starts in México in August 15, I have no clue when this is coming to Univisión.
It sounds very interesting and I'll definitely watch it (so maybe I won't actually have a break... Lol.)
The plot which I copy-pasted from Wikipedia and added the actors' names:
Marcia Cisneros (Aracely Arámbula) is accused of a crime she did not commit and is sentenced to 35 years in prison. Esteban Lombardo (Andrés Palacios), her husband, considers her not only a murderer but an adulteress who killed her lover to cover up her betrayal, so he abandons her and files for divorce. Marcia is certain that she is innocent and that among her ex-husband's friends is the murderer, so she studies law while in prison to reopen her case.
Twenty years later, a lawyer manages to get her early release and she returns to Mexico to clear her name and be reunited with her children, but they believe her dead. Lucrecia (Marisol del Olmo), Esteban's older sister, placed a portrait of an unknown woman in their home and the children grew up adoring the woman in the portrait. Marcia summons all the suspects, who are shocked to see her, but to win over her children and investigate each of the suspects, she changes her name and introduces herself as Marisa Jones. Marcia forces Esteban to break up with his fiancée in order to marry her, thus becoming the stepmother to her own children.
I think the finale airs tonight in Mexico.
If Casilda can get whatever money was in her mother's will she will not need Leonardo.
La Madrastra
I don't know if I will watch this because I despise Aracely Arambula. I usually can't watch a series if I strongly dislike either of its stars. Interestingly, Juan Carlos Baretto will be playing a priest.
Thank you SpanProf! I haven't been able to watch this as I'd hoped but I did see the Diego/Katya scene just prior to and after their "night" togegther. I can see that Diego's resistance did make Katya's heart fonder but I'm not sure how she can ignore the red flashing lights and fire alarms.
I saw a snippet of the scene where Gonzalo was professing his undying love for Adrea which really made me cringe. I haven't seen anything to indicate why a lovely woman like Helena puts up with him but surely there is much that I missed.
Diana
Urban, interestingly enough, my opinion on Arámbula is the opposite of yours. I agree that it's unbearable to watch a telenovela where one or both of the leads are actors that I don't like, though.
UA: Why do you despise Aracely Arambula so much ? I sense deep hostility here.
"MUJER DE NADIE" Episode #29
Weirdo: I did NOT expect Crazy Roxana to get shot like that. I know it was Rafael who pulled the trigger & we all know what's likely going to happen next: Fernando gets framed for Roxana's shooting.
UA: It's quite obvious Rafael was the shooter!
Steve Boudreaux
Urban, I'll copy-paste the Wikipedia summary now. If you want to do a recap, I'll delete both my comments.
Copy-paste from Wikipedia:
• Gabino asks Pilar for a chance.
• Casilda begs Isaura not to say anything about her pregnancy to her godmother.
• Nestor refuses to be with Michelle so that she forgets Alfredo and assures her that he is in love with her.
• Rafael makes a loan to Diego to pay off Claudia's debt.
• Diego has an outburst of jealousy with Claudia, Paulina tries to defend her and learns that she is a prostitute.
• Alejandra gives Lucía a pearl necklace, but when she puts it on it breaks. Toña assures her that it is bad luck.
• Casilda reveals to Leonardo that she is expecting his child, Alejandra refuses to let the baby be born.
• Martha asks Alfredo to leave after Fernando's ceremony is over.
• Isaura assures Leonardo that Casilda is the owner of everything Alejandra has so it is in his best interest to accept the baby.
• Lucía asks Alejandra to be the one to give her away to Fernando, however, during the wedding, Fernando is arrested for his alleged responsibility in Roxana's murder.
This seems like a very good episode! I might watch it later.
Your comments will stand, Weirdo. I haven't had a chance to watch this episode yet. I will catch up with it before the end of the day.
Thank you so much for posting this Weirdo!
I only saw bits and pieces of the original and oh what a cast! Ruffo, Evora, Casados and Cantu among others. It looked campy and fun...
I am also wondering when the new version is coming and where and when it will air. I have good intentions in wanting to watch more than one TN at a time but currently don't seem to be able to do that.
I only saw Aracely Arámbula in CS 2009 and I thought she did an amazing job. Andres and Marisol are excellent.
Diana
Weirdo: We're now in Ultimos Capitulos. 15 episodes left.
UA: Not shocked Fernando got framed for Roxana's murder.
Steve Boudreaux
Wow, I was surprised that Roxana was killed off so soon . She added a lot of spice to the show . Rafael is scary with that smile and sauve facade . He is determined to get Lucia and thought that Roxy could pull Fernando away from her . I guess he is getting impatient and decided to kill her and frame Fernando to clear his way to Lucia. What does he plan to do with Ale to clear his path to the lovely , innocent Lucia ?
I cannot stand nosy, sneaky, conniving , arrogant Isaura. I am hoping for a huge anvil for her. Lucia doesn't have a clue about the evil natures of her mother and stepmother . Ale hates Isaura , but she has to endure her because they are both deceiving Lucia and know all about each other's secrets .
Thanks for all of the info SpanProf! I saw Rene in a state but didn't realize what it was about.
I assumed wronngly Gonzalo knew about Helena. And you are right that health care providers and health plans giving information on a patient in the US without their consent, is strictly forbidden according to HIPPA. That is unless provisions are made by the party themselves, usually in the form of written consent. There are of course exceptions...
Diana
So we are rid of Roxana but we didn't see Heriberto get carted off to the slammer so Lucia is still triply in danger.
I agree about Isaura, but Alfredo deserves a worse fate than she does, as now Rafael does.
More tomorrow; I am wiped out.
I got caught up in some "real life" problems and only now did I get a chance to watch Thursday and Friday's shows.
SpanProf, thank you, your comments were very helpful, and Diana, it's nice to see you are still with us.
SpanProf, I am convinced that the show is playing us with Tyler's gullibility. I go back and forth as to whether I can believe he is so clueless, which is exactly what the writers want from us, I suspect.
Anyway, I'm back to the fun now. Poor Andrea was frustrated beyond belief with Gonzalo's wanting a share of the future proceeds from plucking Tyler, but Chabela to the rescue with some ideas. I loved the scene with Andrea in the bubble bath, and then Chabela bringing her some wine. She also put her bare feet in the tub and then just joined Andrea, fully dressed. Girls just wanna have fun.
So Andrea comes on to Gonzalo, with conditions.
And it seems Gonzalo actually bought Andrea's change of heart. Wow! The theory that we believe what we want to believe, confirmed.
Whatever his real feelings Gonzalo needs to behave better and be more affectionate with Helena. She is in crisis now and this is not the time to be thinking of hanky panky with someone else.
Púas! I missed Púas.
That guy interviewing Erika was quite awful!
So Mario and Gladys are going off for a weekend together. I'm not sure exactly what they have planned; after all, Mario has still been sleeping on the floor, but that may change. I'm anxious to see.
Also anxious to see Marcia's reaction to "Dalilah".
In the last couple of minutes of the show Zulema brought an official document to René. He told her to relax, it was just a tax refund, he has a new accountant who is a whiz.
Unfortunately the document accuses him of tax evasion, punishable by imprisonment. Some whiz.
Andy
The pearl necklace thing really bothered me. I make jewelry and nobody who does would string actual pearls like that. Pearls need to be strung on silk beading cord that is knotted between individual pearls. This also protects the nacre. I have also done this with glass pearls to protect the paint.
Unfortunately freshwater pearls are usually bored to narrowly to do this.
Just saw that Denia Agalianou has the role of Paula Ferrer in La Madrastra. I had no clue that a Greek actress is staring in telenovelas! As a Greek, I'm glad to see a Greek in a telenovela! :)
Diana, you probably know that Luis was trying to make Marcia jealous by having a sexy new girlfriend, Dalilah, with whom he was having a great time.
Isis found out and let Marcia know that "Dalilah" was just someone made up by Luis and Bonifacio. Now Marcia is gaming Luis, she wants to meet Dalilah, putting Luis on the spot.
Boni, man about town, is friends with a sexy young waitress who looks just a little like Beyoncé when she played Foxxy Cleopatra in the third Austin Powers movie, Goldmember. She is going to play being Dalilah for Luis.
This should be interesting. I don't know who will come out ahead, Luis or Marcia.
It's probably a good bit away as yet, but I'm also looking forward to Marcia's "transformation". She is supposed to be overweight, and is portrayed as ever so slightly frumpy, wearing clothes that hide her too generous figure.
But Sebastián has her on an exercise program and then possibly a little plastic surgery. I'm hoping that the exercise alone does the trick for her, Sebastián doesn't need the money, and she doesn't really need surgery.
Andy
Weirdo, Denia Agalianou has a track record in novelas. In MFEA she was a villana worthy of a James Bond movie.
Andy, thank you for all the information. I was only able to watch a few minutes the other night so am seriously out of the loop. "Boni, man about town" had me smiling away LOL.
Sometimes lies take on a life of their own. I'm glad that Luis has been found out. Now this revenge scheme sounds like fun! The player will get played. Count me in!!
Love a good makeover! I am kind of smiling as Marcia is a beautiful woman whose looks they have toned down along with camouflaging with very unattrative and "frumpy" clothes as you pointed out. Some becoming clothing and a visit to a hair stylist would do wonders. Something to look forward to.
I have missed much but have seen nothing that makes Gonzalo in the least bit deserving of Helena.
Diana
I was shocked that Roxanna got killed! I was expecting her a Rafael to be like Rosario and Armando from the first season of Pasión de Gavilanes- plotting mutual destruction until they found themselves falling in love again and ending up together.
I am also shocked and confused at how short this show is! Are they setting it up as a series? Did it bomb for Televisa? Was it cut short when some genius decided to make La desalmada 2???
Televisa has been experimenting with different lengths for novelas, possibly because of the shorter attention spans of younger viewers. La Madrastra will be 25 episodes, like the most recent versions of La Usurpadora, Cuna de Lobos, Rubi. Originally Los Ricos Tambien Lloran was on the list for that treatment but they decided to make that a full-length series.
La Desalmada is not yet in production according to its Wiki and IMDb pages.
Urban, I checked some sites and they all said that La Madrastra is going to be 50 episodes long. I hope they're right and it's 50 and not 25. I don't know about the rest of you, but I personally want a telenovela with 90 episodes or more, fewer just ruin the telenovela feeling. Funnily enough, the first telenovelas had few episodes.
I have high hopes for this. I haven't watched the original one, so I'm not aware of secondary characters, their plot lines or anything like that.
I assume this is coming to Univisión right after Mujer de Nadie ends? This is how it happened in Televisa...
Ah, Rubí. The telenovela that has been remade a hundred times and will probably continue being remade.
I am curious about this show . Hmmm is it about rich people also crying ? I think I saw Rulli in the promos.
Good Morning!! I was noticing the conversation regarding the "remakes" and wanted to add my two cents. In 2019, Patricio Wills developed the Mexican franchise and anthology television series which is produced by Televisa; it was then called Fábrica de Sueños and is now referred to as La Colección. The intent was to remake/reboot (and shorten) 12 telenovela classics from the 1980s-90s. As Urban noted, the first three did have 25, but maybe they noticed that viewers were not too pleased with how they condensed the originals because they have increased the number of episodes in the upcoming TNs. Los Ricos También Lloran has 60 episodes; and Weirdo, I too read that La Madrastra has 50 episodes. Corona de Lagrimas 2 is part of the series and will also soon start airing in Mexico. Yet to come are Colorina, Rosa Salvaje, El Privilegio de Amar, El Maleficio, Quinceañera and Corazón Salvaje
Weirdo, yes, Los Ricos will replace Mujer; and Sebastian Rulli and Claudia Martin are the protags.
Monday, August 15, 2022 at 10:16:00 AM EDT
Thank you, RGVChick, for the information.
Since Los Ricos También Lloran will replace Mujer, will La Madrastra replace La Mexicana y el Güero?
Many novelas don't need to be remade. I loved Rubí, with Barbara Mori, S. Rulli and Eduardo Santamarina and thought that Teresa, with A .Boyer & Rulli was not up to that level.
I think Rubi was a remake of an earlier novela, Teresa, with Salma Hayek. I'd like to have seen that.
So, I guess not all remakes (Rubi) are inferior.
I'd like to see totally new novelas, however. I almost never like remakes.
That's why I watch Turkish dizis.
Beth S.
Dondi turned me on to Turkish dizis , and I have enjoyed several . My favorite telenovela\dizi is "Fatmagul."
Have you seen Pajaro Soñador? It's one of my favorite dizis. Great chemistry between the two leads. It's more of a comedy, so a nice change from the usual novelas & dizis. And the galan is wonderful (Can Yaman). I've also seen Todo Por Mi Hija, Amor Eterno, Fatmagul, Kosem, & Hija del Embajador. Currently watching Infiel and, for second time, Pajaro S. I recommend all!
