La herencia, #47 #48 Tuesday "Santa Catalina under fire"

Pedro tells Tadeo killing is very bad, nobody has to right to take another person’s life. Tadeo starts telling him about what he heard when Sara interrupts with the news that Lucas’ mother is feeling bad and they need to get to the ranch. Bohoo!

Juan and Mateo wonder if Lucas’ mom wouldn’t have been better in the hospital. Lucas is compatible for a transplant, but in her state, it would be too little, too late. Mateo asks Juan how he would react if he saw his mom again. Juan can’t even think about it, he’d hate to have to deal with her ever again. Mateo thinks they should tell Simon what is happening, he’ll get upset if he’s not aware.

Amado and Lucas with their dying mom, she wants to talk to Lucas in private. She is sorry he lost his inheritance because of her (he doesn’t care), she apologizes for abandoning him, she’s hoped to get him back for so many years, but there was never enough money. And she knew he will be OK with this family. Lucas understands her, he has a family who loves him, but he still needs her, that’s why he wanted to take care of her, too. She gave him life and for that he thanks her. And for having tried to come back for him. He would have liked to have had more time with her, always prayed to God to protect her. And then she dies.

Alone in a bedroom (is it a hotel room?) Dante is upset Deb was Prospi’s lover. Yeah, but Deb only loves him and she’s been faithfully waiting for him for years, while he was married; she only slept with Prospi for the money and soon enough she will get her hands on his company, too. How come? Because Rosa never read the contract she signed, and there is a clause that will help her get her hands on the company whenever she decides kit’s the right time.

Dante is very worried because Pedro plans to use Sara to get his hands on the company. He will eventually manage to win against Juan. Deb asks about the charities, and Dante says he is handling this. He is also handling the paperwork for Lucas’ money… a lot of millions. They fall on the bed, kissing.

Later, once they’re done, Deb asks what Dante’s plans with Aurora are. Dante is not yet sure what he will be doing with her, does say she is retired from her “work”. Deb urges him to be careful, then remembers Pedro asking her to see the DNA documents that prove Sara is a Del Monte. She doesn’t tell Dante what she’s thinking about, though.

Pedro and Sara arrive to talk to Juan and Mateo. They all decide to be united for Lucas. Group hug. Then they go inside the room and try to do their best to comfort him, while he sobs on his mother’s chest. They all encourage him and promise to be by his side.

Julieta wants to confront Deb over her accusation against Rosa, but her mom thinks they should say nothing, Lucas is more important for Juan now. And she needs to take care of her baby. Juli agrees. Rosa promises always to protect her.

Juan tells Lucas he will handle everything about the funeral. When Mateo tells him Simon is coming back from his honeymoon to be there for him, too, Lucas explodes, he can handle everything on his own. Sara explains they only want to help, but Lucas gets even madder, pushes Pedro, and screams at Juan – that’s why he’s still a child, because of their constant need to protect him. Sara says they all know he can handle it alone, they only want to help because they love him. Lucas starts crying and asks them to forgive him, he’s acting like an idiot. Another group hug.

Rosa tells Juli she needs to go support Lucas, it’s her duty as Juan’s future wife. Juli doesn’t feel like it, Rosa teaches her how to be her best hypocrite self (it’s gonna be a short lesson, Juli is already an A+ student).

Modesto and Bertha talk about Lucas and his pain. Then Modesto mentions his dead wife, who has been gone for many years. He still misses her.

Sara wants to fix Lucas some tea and Pedro offers to help. She is happy with him for buying that house for Tadeo and Bea, he proved what a swell guy he is. Pedro says he’s made many mistakes, but he’s doing his best to improve. And yeah, he’s trying to change for Tadeo, too, he always felt a connection to him, even when he didn’t know they were the same blood. And he is so frightened he might not be there for his son on the long run (uh, oh, foreshadowing!). Sara asks Pedro to stop confronting Cornelio, it’s for everyone’s good.

Bea arrives to interrupt them, she came to comfort Lucas. And no, Tadeo is not alone, he’s with Dulce and Salvador. When Bea leaves, Pedro makes sure Sara is aware he and Bea are done!

Lucas plans to take his mother’s body to San Luis Potosi, to be with his other brothers. Mateo asks if he plans to stay there, but Lucas is not sure yet. Juan says no matter what happened with the inheritance, Santa Catalina will always be his home.

As Bea waits for Lucas, Rosa scolds her for not arriving at an opportune moment. Lucas comes from the study and Bea hugs him. Then it’s Juli’s turn to give her condolence, but then she grabs Juan’s hand to say that as one life ends, another one begins. And she shows Juan a video of her sonogram, and we can hear the baby’s heart beat, their little Severiano del Monte (Ugh, I hope it’s a girl and she will be called Matea). Juan is smiling, but everyone else is very somber looking, talk about bad timing.

The next day Simon and Paloma are back home. Tadeo greets them, Lucas thinks they shouldn’t have come, but Simon hugs him tight, he wanted to be with him in these hard moments.

A few days later…

Salvador is checking his cash register, some money is missing. Lucas and Amado arrive, Lucas says he’s decided to stay in town. He will send Amado and his brothers money, he cares about them a lot. Amado tells Lucas about his debts. If he doesn’t pay, they are both in mortal danger. He says he needed the money for their mother’s treatments and some other shady stuff he can’t talk about… The nasty guys arrive at the Bar, calling for Amado to join them. Lucas remembers the night of the attack.

One of the guys comes to talk to Lucas, tells him he needs to pay Amado’s debts. Lucas says he’s not paying anything. The guy punches him, Lucas hits back, but he seems to have the odds stacked against him.

Over breakfast Sara tells Julieta that she doesn’t agree to her sitting place at the table (to Juan’s left), she doesn’t belong in that chair. Juli strongly disagrees, reminds Sara she wanted to “hurt” her. Juan tries to stop them, but then things get really good when Paloma arrives with a tray of food, and Simon asks her to sit, adding that if they are talking about who has the right to the best chair at the table, that should be Paloma, his wife. Juli says how come, since she’s doing a servant’s job, which (you guessed it) upsets Simon, but Rosa and Deb’s reactions are the best. Simon asks Julieta to respect his wife and nastily scolds Paloma for helping in the kitchen, never again! He asks her to sit, again and has to help her sit by his side, at the overcrowded table.

Dulce says goodbye to Brandon and his family… ffw

Juan and Simon talk about Lucas, who is still part of the company and needs money to help his brothers. He adds that he didn’t like how he talked to Paloma (true!), but Simon shuts him up, because he himself can’t control his two women (truer!).

As Simon leaves, Sara comes to inform Juan they are signing an important contract today, he should act professional about it. This coming from someone who goes to work wearing skin tight clothes and an exposed torso.

Mateo tells Pedro he will be late to work because he’s going to say goodbye to Dulce. But Pedro thinks he can say bye bye through video, the company is more important.

Brandon is preparing his bag, counting his money, he’s up to no good…ffw

Sara arrives to work and Bea tells her someone is waiting in her office Who is that? Aurora, Juan and Pedro’s mom, she introduces herself. She wants Sara to help her get close to her kids. Sara says that’s not her job, Aurora should talk to them. Aurora says she is sorry for all the pain she caused, but Sara knows she has been a crappy mother, and even as she thinks everyone deserves a second chance, this is not her place to meddle. She wants to know why Aurora came to her for help. Aurora says she didn’t have an easy life, raising two kids alone, with no money, she had so much rage, why did it have to happen to her? Sara is sorry, but she can’t help, she has to do this on her own, without using any type of manipulations. Aurora agrees, leaves Sara a note with her phone number.

Alone at home, it’s still not over between Paloma and Julieta (I really hope these two are sisters!). Juli asks Paloma more coffee, wants to pull rank, saying she is the lady of the house. Stupid Paloma doesn’t fight back, she actually serves coffee to Julieta and Rosa, she wants to avoid problems for Simon. But she is his wife and Julieta has to respect her. Rosa reminds Paloma about her mom sleeping with Sev, Paloma says she’s not looking for a fight, but Juli is making a mistake. Juli resents that, she is the lady of Santa Catalina!

Deb and Bertha arrive at the boutique, Deb plans to hire someone to tale Bea’s place, Bertha offers to help just for a little while. Deb rightfully notices the shop is very antiquated, starts searching through the drawers and finds a box.

The meeting is about to start, but the brothers are not at work yet. Sara tells Bea who the woman visiting her was, but she doesn’t plan to interfere. She calls Juan, but the call goes to voice message.

Bea adds that she and Cornelio are about to meet to talk here, at the company.

As Lucas is down on the floor, all his brothers show up and start beating the crap out of the bad guys. It’s a beautiful scene really, four men wearing business attire teaching a lesson to the town thugs! Lucas is feeling very bad, though, that first guy managed to punch him good. Sal calls for the police.

One of the thugs pulls out a gun and directs it at Juan, who manages to disarm him. Simon says they will press charges against them, the leader of the gang threatens them. When the thugs leave, Salvador is upset the Bar has been ruined. Juan promises to pay for the damages. Lucas is still shaken up, Juan and Pedro ask why did they try to beat him? Lucas says these are the guys who attacked him before. Pedro and Mateo think they should have finished them off, Juan wants to tell the cops. Both Juan and Pedro remember the day in town when they saw two of the men in close vicinity to Lucas.

Idiot Sal is blaming the brothers for messing up his Bar, Juan apologizes, but Pedro rightfully points out the guys were attacking Lucas, they were only defending them. Juan asks Simon to call Dante. He will handle the meeting at the company.

Paloma is in a hurry to go say goodbye to Dulce, but eventually shares with Modesto how Julieta is bothering her, saying she is the lady of the house. But Simon can’t know about it. Modesto thinks he should know, but Paloma wants to keep silent, avoid conflict.

Bertha doesn’t think Deb should break open the box, but this is Deb, she couldn’t care less! And she finds Rosa’s Love Letters to Severiano Del Monte!!! Yey for Deb being a meddler!

Juli is afraid Paloma will unite with Sara to make her life a living hell, that’s why she needed to make clear who was in charge. Rosa is ashamed to go outside, people might realize she and Prospi are separated, but Julieta wants her to go buy her basinet.

Bea and Cornelio talk about Tadeo, with a guard looking over, at Sara’s demand. Cornelio only wanted to tell her they have to leave the house, but he plans to keep the money for Tadeo. And Sal could help them, give them a room for now. Bea asks if he knows who bought the house, Corni doesn’t, so Bea says it’s Pedro. Corni gets mad, thinks this was planned by Pedro and Bea together, to humiliate him, show him that Pedro has more money than he does. He’s never been in more pain than when his mother died, but he will never forgive such betrayal. How could they? And he places his wedding ring in Bea’s hand. Good riddance!

Juan finally answers Sara, tells her he talked to their business partner guy, signing of the contract will be done another day. When Sara protests, Juan finally tells her why he had to postpone, Lucas is going to be checked up by a doctor at the ranch and Simon went to press charges with Dante. Sara runs home, too.

Dante and Aurora talk. Dante is upset her sons have caused a mess again and he has to go to the Bar. Asking how things went with Sara, Aurora says she is a tough woman. Dante almost proudly says Sara is no sentimental flower, nothing like Juan and Pedro. Aurora begs Dante for help with her sons. Pedro is calling Dante and he asks Aurora if she wants to talk to him. Pedro wants to talk about the man he hired to kill Cornelio.

Augusto thinks he should have been part of the fight, too, but Sal is more worried about who is going to clean up everything. Simon and Paloma are there, too, Simon is still upset with Augie over what he said about Sev’s accident. Amado wants to talk to Simon. Victorio and the others are traffickers, they shot him that time, but their target was Cornelio. The problem is they have no proof, but Victorio is very dangerous. Simon and Paloma run to the ranch, tell what they just found out to everyone else.

Juli admires the ranch, daydreaming about all of this belonging to her son one day. Rosa is hungry, Paloma should have prepared them some food. Prospi arrives, wanting to talk to Rosa. He admits he made a mistake, but if Rosa won’t forgive him, then they need to get a divorce. Rosa thinks he’s crazy, but Prospi doesn’t want to stay together just for appearances. She has always cared more about what other people think, he might have cheated, but she wasn’t the greatest wife, either. Rosa offends him by saying he was never able to satisfy her as a woman. Prospi is sorry he couldn’t be the perfect man for her, but he won’t stand this humiliation. She can keep thinking she is right about everything, he is done!

Sara arrives to see Lucas, who is in his bed, feeling very bad. She notices all the brothers are ruffled, they explain they all fought to defend their brother. Sara and Juan ask Lucas what happened the night he was attacked. Lucas says the guys wanted to rape him! What? Caras impactadas all over!

Juan thinks they should let the Police handle this, but Mateo and Pedro want to do things differently. Lucas was ashamed to talk about it, and he couldn’t even defend himself. He tells his siblings what exactly happened, remembers the men spanking him, calling him names…

Sara doesn’t think he should continue, and Lucas can’t stand talking about it anymore. She promises to always be by his side. Juan and Pedro are both furious.

Julieta has made a frame of her pregnant picture. She thinks she looks lovely, Modesto points out she is less beautiful when she makes Paloma feel bad. He knows this is about her fight with Sara, but he doesn’t want to go against her, he hopes her son will be a blessing for the family. Juli agrees, her son will be a better Del Monte, because unlike Tadeo, he will be a legitimate heir. Modesto warns her to leave the kids out of this and she should stay away from Paloma, too.

Deb arrives, she noticed Prospi outside, looking so sad. She wants to know where ridiculous Rosa is, calls for her singing. Modesto looks amused.

Dante arrives at the Bar, Sal is still whining.

Alone with Lucas, Sara and Juan think he was very brave to talk about what happened. They apologize for not being aware of what was going on with him, even as they realized he wasn’t doing OK.

Cornelio is helping Victorio get into Santa Catalina in exchange for getting the guy who ordered his assassination. Then Corni calls Modesto to ask him to join him to go pick up Tadeo from school.

Simon and Paloma run inside the house and tell the others the man who attacked Lucas was the same guy who shot Amado. They all go to the study, and Simon says the guy was supposed to shot Cornelio. Pedro is not happy with how this conversation is going, Lucas knows Amado owes them a lot of money. Juan thinks they need proof, Paloma insists they are very dangerous. They all decide to go talk to the Police.

Rosa asks Deb to get out of Juli’s room. But Deb wants to talk about Sev, how long have they been involved? Rosa threatens her, but Deb says she has the love letters for Severiano, so she should be scared of her. Is she afraid the letters will come to light? Or that Juli might be Sev’s daughter, too? NOBODY will ever take Sara’s place, so Rosa should be careful!

Prospi, Adela, Modesto and Bertha are in the kitchen, talking about Prospi getting a divorce. Modesto says he had to go see Corni, but he ca go later, if Prospi needs to talk about it.

Brandon ran away from home…

Julieta finds out what has been happening, but she is worried about Juan, says she is waiting for him to come back home for dinner. The baby has started kicking, would tia Sara want to be the first the feel the kicks? Sara admits not knowing much about pregnancy, Juli offends her saying she will most likely never have the joy of being pregnant… this is all so random and idiotic, seeing what they are all dealing with right now. Sara says they are all in a hurry, Juli puts Juan’s hand on her belly, with Sara and Mateo looking.

Cornelio is still calling Modesto, asking him to come over, but Modesto is busy, they can see each other later.

The thugs arrive at the ranch. They start shooting the guards and get inside the property. The Del Montes hear the shots and go in defense mode. Modesto starts locking all the doors and windows. Somehow idiot Brandon runs inside and manages to get through the main doors before Pedro and Mateo lock them. Shots are being fired all over, as Simon and Mateo call the cops. The Del Montes are all locked up in the house, staying away from the windows, while the thugs have taken control of the outside and are trying to get in. Juan asks Modesto to take all the women to his room. But Sara wants to stay, protect the house. Prospi stays with the women upstairs.

Now in the study, Juan gives everyone guns. Sara wants one, too, Modesto grabs two. Adela wants to fight, too, so she gets an weapon.

Rosa, Deb, Juli, Paloma and Brandon are in the room with Prospi when Modesto arrives with two guns. He hands one to Prospi, asks the women to keep quiet.

The shots are reaching inside the house. Simon and Pedro leave together, Mateo defends the front entry. Adela tells Sara to stay in the study, but she wants to go defend her brothers.

Juan and Lucas are now outside, they start fighting with three thugs (use your guns!). Pedro and Simon are outside, too, firing at some other guys, while Adela, Mateo and Sara are still inside. Mateo starts fighting with a guy, while two others go upstairs.

Juan and Lucas manage to disarm their opponents. Sara and Adela come outside and Sara shoots one of the guys, while Juan gets another one. Pedro and Simon are disarmed, but they start fighting and come up on top. They see Victorio and go after him.

The two guys who went upstairs try to break the door of the bedroom and start fighting with Prospi and Modesto. One of them overpowers Prospi and comes inside, but Mateo hits him, saving the women. Juli runs to him.

Cornelio comes running to the ranch, only to find a bunch of guards dead on the ground; he remembers his father’s words about loving him, just like Modesto is fighting with a thug, who is about  to kill him. Corni gets upstairs, just as the guy shoots Modesto. He punches the guy, but Modesto isn’t waking up. Is he dead?

Fantastic recaps, Adriana! Love the title!

My favourite quotes were: "it’s gonna be a short lesson, Juli is already an A+ student", "Ugh, I hope it’s a girl and she will be called Matea" and "This [being professional] coming from someone who goes to work wearing skin tight clothes and an exposed torso."

"she only slept with Prospi for the money". Well, Deb, this has a name, you know.

Did Amado seriously ask Lucas to pay money to the thugs? "Hey, brother that I met three days ago, I've screwed up. Care to pay for it?"

"Stupid Paloma doesn’t fight back, she actually serves coffee to Julieta and Rosa," What. I wonder what's her reasoning... "she wants to avoid problems for Simon." I've lost my faith in humanity.

"Idiot Sal is blaming the brothers for messing up his Bar" Makes sense that the people who defended their brother are responsible for the attack and the messing up. I think that Sal IS Paloma's father after all lol.

"Lucas says the guys wanted to rape him!" Well that was unexpected!

"Julieta has made a frame of her pregnant picture." Julieta is the definition of self-centred.

Bingo

I'll add "Gun Fired" to my bingos. You guys have that already but I don't.

Cher Adriana, merci for get another fantastic account of a bubbling episode .

I hope Modesto survives .

It was great seeing the cavalry arrive to save Lucas from those thugs. The brothers were kicking it and taking names.Sal was stupid and useless. I hope Adela doesn't end up with Sal. She and Prospi are a better match.

I suspected that something more traumatic than a beating happened to Lucas becAuse he was so distraught . Just wait until it is revealed that Pedro started this whole chain of events by having Dante hire someone to kill Corny.

I am confused about Aurora.Did she just suddenly come to Dante? I thought that Dante might have found her to upset Pedro and Juan.

Juli is her own biggest fan . She wasted no time framing that photo of herself and putting it in the living room . Rosa has raised her to feel entitled and egotistical . if Rosa suspects Juli is Sev's daughter , unexplained why Rosa has been so adamant about Juli marrying Juan and becoming queen of the castle. Juli is completely focused on using this baby to secure her place at the ranch , and insipid Juan just let's her keep putting his hand on her bump.

It was weird that the brothers decided to go out of The hacienda to confront the attackers .Then, instead of using guns, everyone was doing hand to hand combat .QTH??

Does Pedro somehow suspect that Sara is not Sev's daughter? He asked Deb for proof. Why does he suddenly have this suspicion? I don't think Pedro will survive. I think he will die to save either Juan or Sara.

Loved the recap! Adriana, you did such an excellent job with so much going on. Thank you!

Weirdo, I need to look at my bingo cards today. Thanks for reminding me. : )

Susanlynn, you and I were on the same wavelength. After seeing how shook Lucas was after the initial attack by the thugs, I suspected he was raped but couldn’t admit it to anyone let alone his bros.

The invasion of the hacienda was a nice touch of action. It sure perked up the episodes and the novela. The hand to hand fighting was great. It took them long enough to get to their firearms. At least Sara grabbed a gun.

Whoops..just noticed " unexplained "= "it explains " I missed that.

Jarifa, the pot is bubbling with all these folks bumping into each other in the hacienda. That table is getting crowded .

Adriana - Great recap of an action-packed episode. Thank you!

I did not realize that Corni gave his wedding band to Bea. I was watching on a smaller TV and thought it was the key to their house, so thank you for the clarification.

I always wonder how people like Deb have saved the old love letters they sent someone. How did they get the back?

That really was weird when Lucas said the thugs tried to rape him during the first mugging. QTH?

I agree, it was weird to see guns AND hand to hand fighting.

Lucas' recently found mother died in his bed, and how many days later he is in it, himself? I haven't had either of those experiences but it would creep me out just a little.

During the gunfight I truly laughed out loud when Rosa asked Prospi "When did you learn to use a gun?" and he said, "Five minutes ago."

Hopefully Modesto will survive his GSW.

One more thing: I absolutely loved Deb aggravating Juli and Rosa. I dislike them more than her.

Juli and Paloma have the same exact hair color, so it would not surprise me if they both are bio-daughters of Sev.

I also think those scenes of Juli having Paloma serve her might be a harbinger of the tables becoming turned with the same idea they are sisters, and Paloma might be older. Just a Crockpot Theory©️, so who knows?!?

Adriana, thank you for the back to back double episode recaps! Full of your amazing wit And humor as always!! Matea! I love it!!

I haven’t watched at all yet this week but I hope to catch up today and tomorrow.

I think I am sitting alone at the Paloma is not Sev’s daughter table but sit I shall. I am still wondering what was up with that odd look from mommy at the vague suggestion that Paloma might look like Modesto.

My Sev parentage theories are that Sev is the bio dad of at least one adopted son - Juan seems the obvious choice because of the favoritism but maybe Mateo. Sev might be the bio dad of Juli. Sev is not bio-dad to Sara or Paloma.

"Just wait until it is revealed that Pedro started this whole chain of events by having Dante hire someone to kill Corny." I thought about that too, Susanlynn!

Darcy, you're not sitting alone. I also don't think Paloma is Sev's. I also agree what he's not Sara's father either.

Adriana, you did a sensational job. Perfect title. I was on the edge of my seat the entire episode. Non-stop action and head snapping drama. A gunfight, intimidation, backstabbing and threats as razor sharp as the bullets themselves.

It was difficult enough to catch everything that transpired but you went above and beyond packing your recap with gems my favorite being “Rosa teaches her how to be her best hypocrite self (it’s gonna be a short lesson, Juli is already an A+ student)” which was beyond.

Watching Lucas, the kindest and gentlest lose his mother as he bore the brunt of hatred and cruelty was hard to watch. Jarifa, I also fear Lucas was raped - he was so traumatized it seemed more than fright.

Despite all hell breaking out, Deb was continuing to start and stoke fires everywhere. She has virtually destroyed Rosa and Prospi’s marriage (although it wasn’t much to begin with), taken their money and business and exposed Rosa’s past. When Dante accuses her of cheating with Prospi she throws Dante’s wife in his face. Along with you Jarifa “ I absolutely loved Deb aggravating Juli and Rosa. I dislike them more than her,” You just can’t keep a bad girl down.

Interesting that Rosa had her own love letters. I was wondering the same thing as you doris – did Sev give them back?

Poor Paloma thinks she is keeping the peace by waiting on Juli and Rosa but this will turn into disaster once Simon sees it for himself.

Bea did not look happy when she saw Pedro with Sara.

I have a question. Who was walking back and forth in the background looking very concerned in the scene where Cornelio was confronting Bea about Pedro buying the house? Juan’s assistant was clearly smitten with Bea but it didn’t look like him.

A sad and longing musing from Modesto on his wife, the first we’ve heard. Now he will be fighting for his life.

Adriana, just wonderful. Thank you!

Diana

Diana and doris, I am also wondering about those love letters.

One thing I have to say is that this novela keeps me guessing. Exasperating at times but entertaining.

Great work, <Adriana.

One has to wonder how many takes they needed for those fight scenes. It looked like all the del Monte men took martial arts lessons.

Should be on the sidebar: Rosa tells Juli she needs to go support Lucas, it’s her duty as Juan’s future wife. Juli doesn’t feel like it, Rosa teaches her how to be her best hypocrite self (it’s gonna be a short lesson, Juli is already an A+ student).

Juli just gets more despicable all the time. There is no good reason for her not to be at the office. She is getting off on playing the Pregnant Damsel in Need of Protection for Juan while being a nasty bitch to Sara and Paloma, both of whom should tell her off but good. She is worse than her mother.

Why would Rosa have her letters to Severiano? Did he even have them in the first place? Who would have returned them to her if he had had them? The envelopes were too new-looking to have been handled much. I am guessing she wrote them, then locked them in that box after losing her nerve to send them.

Considering where Modesto was hit I think he will survive but have a long recovery.

More later.

"I am still wondering what was up with that odd look from mommy at the vague suggestion that Paloma might look like Modesto"
Darcy - if Sal (Chavito) is truly her father, then Modesto truly is her uncle, and as genetics run, it is entirely possible for someone to favor a relative like an uncle more than their own parent. Wait! I'm using too many brain cells thinking thru all this. :-p
😛

If Modesto survives, will Berta Perfecta be his nurse, use her Reiki skillz, and also get his chakras balanced?

BTW, Deb does not get all the credit for destroying Rosa's marriage. Prospero had a part in that, too. It takes two to tango, whether vertical or horizontal.

This comment has been removed by the author.

Doris, ITA that Próspero played a role in his divorce too. He played the most important one, he was the married one after all.

Rosa had probably been a henpecking bitch as soon as they returned from the honeymoon. Prospero had money when they were married. I thi k she squandered at least half of it if not more.

I think Berta will be very good for Modesto. Just younger enough for other men to envy and someone to add spice to his life.

doris and Weirdo, I didn't mean to imply that Deb singlehandedly destroyed Rosa's marriage. Prospi is certainly guilty but Deb was the catalyst.

doris, "Berta Perfecta" is great!!

Diana

Deb loves to destroy any and all things in her path and sometimes reminds me of a cat that plays with its prey first.
She better have an appropriate anvil or I will be very disappointed.

Doris, ITA one can look like their relative of course. One of my nieces has always reminded me of her dad’s sister; but a simple everyday explanation like that wouldn’t explain the odd look….idk, maybe I am thinking too hard too! Lol I am still staying seated at the Sev is not Paloma’s father table. But this show gets crazier every day, who knows? We will find out

Darcy - the crazy is what keeps me coming back. LOL. Must see TV.

Can you imagine how large the writers' storyboard for this telenovela must be?

I love the idea of Paloma and Juli being sisters. It's obvious that neither is aware of the possibility. That could be the catfight of all time. Not to mention the horror Juli will feel at marrying her brother (if it has come to that by then).

Great comments, everyone. The episode(s) was great to recap, but there was so much going on at the same time, my head was spinning. First the fight scene at the Bar, then the attack on the ranch!! I was like WTF, what's next, a bomb at Avocados R US?

Susanlynn, when ALL the brothers arrived at the Bar I actually clapped and cheered loudly. Talk about making an entrance! I agree that Juli being Sev's daughter perfcetly explains Rosa's obsession with her marrying a Del Monte. Just like I said a few days ago, for Rosa that would be like having her cake and eating it, too - her daughter gets to be lady of the house without Rosa having to tell anyone about her infidelity.

Doris, I was sure Corni gave Bea his wedding band, but now that you mention keys, I'm doubting... both work for dramatic effect. I was shocked to see the good guys use their fists instead of their guns after going outside (WTF!!), but I guess that's why they are the "good" guys, you can't have the protas kill a bunch of thugs even if it's in self defense.

About the love letters: maybe Sev returned them? Or Rosa never had the courage to send them? Either way, Rosa need to pull a Sara, go up the stairs and throw them at the Del Montes sitting in the living room. Whoever ctaches the trashiest letter wins a "true story" like confession from Rosa about her torrid love affair with Sev.

Jarifa and Diana, I LOVE Deb and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Yes, she is a toxic mother and a crappy human being, but atshe is very entertaining, which is why I watch novelas.
The man walking back and forth in the background was the guard Sara asked to keep an eye on Bea during her talk with Corni.

Urban, I agree that Juli is a big "improvement" over her mother. Rosa has no clue gow far her darling daughter is willing to go to become a Del Monte, but then again, if Juli is Sev's daughter, then maybe she'd be more than happy to help Juli sustain her lie.

If we think about it, Sara is the only one biologically a Del Monte because at the time she got pregnant Deb didn't have a husband to trick into believing her child is his. Had Dante been single, Sara would have probably called him "papa" now. If all the girls are Sev's it will be interesting to see Paloma and Sara team up to destroy (and I do mean obliterate) Julieta as soon as little Matea is born. In the meantime, with so many "ladies of the house" I hope one of them thinks about buying a bigger table for that dining room.

About that bar fight... I was wondering where Lucas' bodyguards were. Hel-lo?!?. Apparently the Bros. Del Monte had pulled them off that detail since nothing had happened for a while?

Doris, actually it was Lucas who asked Juan to remove them because he could defend himself... Ha! Now we have a better understanding of why his behavior has been so odd recently and why he turned down Alondra the other day, but still, that was a rash decision.

Adriana - thank you for cleaning up my misunderstanding about Lucas' bodyguards. I missed that part.

It is interesting that Lucas is the only heir, out of all the siblings, who really does not care about the inheritance and the money. He truly is a good soul. If I was his Telenovela fairy godmother, I would give it all to him by the end of this show

Juli and Paloma are legally the daughters of Prospero and Salvador respectively, due to presumptive paternity. They were also raised by them. It will be interesting to see if Juli will be consistent after the scream at the guys that "She is not your sister!" Will she reject Prospero with "You are not my father!"?

Paloma would not do that to Salvador.

If Sara is proven not to be Severiano's daughter -- most of ys think that Dante is her sperm donor -- she will be furious with Deborah for putting her through this only to be thoroughly humiliated. Severiano was cremated, so where would there be any DNA to compare to?

My theory on Rosa's letters:

Sev gave her a mercy "couch experience" and he was one and done. Idiot that she is, she fell hopelessly in love with him so she sent him all those love letters. Maybe he got the first one, then gave instructions to his staff to "return to sender" any that might follow?

Anin 3:15, “Mercy ‘couch experience’ “ was perfection!

Thanks, Adriana. Snarkilicious recap, with all the deets I needed. Everybody already cited my fave, but here it goes again: Rosa teaches her how to be her best hypocrite self (it’s gonna be a short lesson, Juli is already an A+ student).

Juli and Rosa together are more than anyone should have to bear. Love Deb sticking it to them.

I too started wondering if Lucas had been raped. I’ll give it to the writers, the signs were there, plus Amado had said these thugs were mucho worse than ordinary thugs, but I didn’t believe this TN would go there.

If not for Sara, I don't think Lucas would've told them. Hopefully now he can start to heal emotionally. I really wanted him to get the chance to shoot the ringleader.

The way the brothers fanned out makes a lot of sense (at least in TN world). Juan, the sharpest shooter/fighter paired with Lucas, the novice. Pedro, the badass/calculator, paired with Simon, all in but hotheaded (I laughed when Simon said, in the middle of the battle, that he was dying to check that Paloma was okay and Pedro told him to stop talking stupid (estupideces). Last, Mateo, a thinker when he's sober, in the house blocking for the womenfolk. I love that both Sara and Adela took up arms too. As a single, abandoned mom for so many years, maybe this isn't Adela's first time taking care of business.

Dante is not yet sure what he will be doing with her [Aurora], does say she is retired from her “work”.

I’m gonna guess Aurora was laid off from her "work" before she willingly retired. Dang, age discrimination!

Soccer replaces the show tonight. I can't wait to see that Modesto is okay (I hope). Yay!
Our fearless, intrepid recappers catch a break!

Niecie, I liked your analyses of the bros. I had forgotten all about Simón wanting to run to check on his wifey during the onslaught. Juan’s response was a good one.

Adriana: Good Job on the recap of last night's episode. It was in-depth & lots of shocking twists.

First things first RIP Lucas' biological mother.

Jarifa: I was shocked about the revelations of the thugs wanting to rape Lucas. I was like "WTF ?"

Niecie: I agree with you on the strange turn of events in this Telenovela with the traumatic flashbacks of what might've happened to Lucas. At least Goldie Locks Sara was there to listen to his backstory.

UA: Something tells me Psycho Pedro will figure out Dante the Looter is Goldie Locks Sara's biological father & that Buji Julieta or one of her two sisters could be Scumbag Seve's biological daughter.

"I’m gonna guess Aurora was laid off from her "work" before she willingly retired. Dang, age discrimination!"

OMG Niecie - too too funny!

Also liked "As a single, abandoned mom for so many years, maybe this isn't Adela's first time taking care of business". Yes, absolutely. No flies on her.

Diana

The brothers all rushed to defend Lucas and then to defend the hacienda. I hope that means that they are forgetting their differences and banding together. Now we need Pedro to develop a conscience and warn Juan about Dante working against him. Will that happen ?

"I’m gonna guess Aurora was laid off from her "work" before she willingly retired. Dang, age discrimination!" made my laugh! Thanks Niecie, that was amazing!
