Los Ricos
También Lloran– PRODUCED BY CARLOS BARDAZANO
Starts Sept. 6th at 9PM
(two-hour Gran Estreno!)
Here we have a remake of the 1979 Los Ricos También Lloran which starred Verónica Castro, Rogelio Guerra, and Rocío Banquells. This new version will have Claudia Martín and Sebastian Rulli as the lead protagonists. It tells the story of Mariana (Claudia), a humble and brave young woman who, after being left alone and helpless, arrives in the life of Don Alberto Salvatierra (Guillermo García Cantu), a business magnate and one of the wealthiest and most powerful men in the country; she makes quite an impression since she saves his life. Mariana will meet Don Alberto’s son, Luis Alberto (Sebastian), one of the most sought after bachelors, who, despite his arrogance and conceit, is struggling with his own pain. But when he meets the beautiful Mariana he will find true and honest love. Their story will be one of passion, turbulence, and much intrique!
The cast for this remake will include Fabiola Guajardo as Soraya (aka El Demonio), the main antagonist, along with Azela Robinson , Alejandro Barros, Victor Gonzalez as León (aka El Trepador), Sergio Reynoso, and Lorena Graniewicz…among many others.

Lolita cried such crocodile tears.
Diego thinks it’s a good idea to get drunk, go to Seb’s and raise a ruckus. Sigh.
Sofia and Ignacio…I was trying to remember if I’ve ever actually seen a TN character ask someone if they are using protection. Very responsible. Glad things went well. Hmmm, did he give a little horse whinny when Sofia hugged him the next morning? 😊
Was Dona Maty pretending to be sleepwalking?
Where does Gladys get her shopping money?
I was hoping Zulema would drop the coffee on Rene’s head. After he hurt her arm, I wish she’d thrown it in his face.
Gonzalo – down boy. Andrea may be his fantasy but he sure isn’t hers.
Luis lying to Rocio. Silly boy.
C’mon Diego. How far are you going to go before you tell Katya?

Confesión y sacrificio
Part 1 of 2
Rafael sought to get rid of Casilda and her daughter so he asked Leonardo to conquer her in exchange for a lot of money. He was very intense on the subject, even telling him he could abandon Casilda and make off with the baby and the money.
Fernando said to his family that if they could find the murder weapon in Roxana's killing he would be in the clear. Carlos was doubtful that they could find it. Marta just wanted to forget the whole thing.
Leonardo called Casilda, who didn't want to talk with him let alone see him. She finally agreed to see him at “the club.”
Isaura revealed to Lucía that she swapped out Casilda's dead baby for her daughter to save her (Lucia). Casilda knew nothing of this. She blamed it all on Rafael, starting with the fact that he was the one to bribe the doctor. She did not admit her own role in this. Lucia cried about being destroyed from within over this. Isaura started crying and begging forgiveness.
Rafael forbade Diego from entering the company. He threatened to make sure he would never work again. Diego – perhaps foolishly – to prove that he killed Roxana. Rafael had him tossed out by hig goons.
Lucia went to Toña to tell her about the baby. Isaura came out of the house and told Lucia to be very careful around Rafael because he was a killer. Lucia looked at her coldly and told her to be careful. Further, that she would follow her orders from then on. Isaura nodded slightly and went back inside. Lucia then interrogated Dominga who at first claimed to know nothing. Lucia did not believe her.
Dominga looked toward the door and then told her sotto voce that Isaura was an addicted gambler and in debt to Heriberto. She finally confessed to Lucía that Isaura was to blame for her father's death and the loss of her house. Lucia demanded to know why she had never told her. Dominga was afraid at Lucia's tone of voice, especially when Lucia ordered her to watch Isaura. She feared Lucia just as Lucia had once feared Heriberto and Rafael. Dominga went into the house. Lucia lost her composure and cried almost until she was sick.
Diego called Fernando to tell him he had broken his deal with Rafael. They talked more about the murder weapon Diego wanted to get into the building at night but Fernando told him not to take the risk.
Chela served coffee to Alejandra who pointed out her years of service to her and asked – in a voice riddled with uncertainty – if she thought her a bad person. Chela looked away without saying a word, which gave Alejandra her answer.

Part 2 of 2
Leonardo gave it a serious try, but Casilda did not fall for it. Casilda finally told Leonardo that Valentina is not his daughter since her baby died at birth. He did not believe it at first, then she told him that Isaura handed Valentina to her. She ordered him to leave and he did.
Carlos and Claudia had a disagreement about Diego.
Diego and Fernando managed to enter Rafael's office in search of evidence. A cell phone on the desk sounded an alarm and they ducked out of sight as Rafael came in to retrieve the phone.
Alejandra looked for Casilda to ask for a chance and advised her to put the club in order.
Isaura received a gift – the same sort of bowling pin figure received by Alfredo and the others in the same black box – but Dominga assured her that it was bad luck.
Paulina canceled her engagement to Fernando, telling him he should be with the one he truly loved: Lucia. Paulina told him he needed to be free to be happy with Lucia. After some tears on both their parts she took off the engagement ring and left. Fernando called Lucia.
Isaura got desperate.
Rafael went home and told the servant he was not hungry. He asked about Lucia, but the maid had not seen her. He left a message on Lucia's voicemail.
She was meeting with Fernando who said he was sure she had moved on after telling him that their daughter was dead. Lucía told him that their daughter was alive and is Valentina, she tells him that Isaura was Rafael's accomplice. She had to repeat this a few times and tell him that Casilda did not know that Valentina was their daughter. He realized that Rafael's obsession would have been the driver of this action.
Rafael stood in his place and handled his pistol. The servant told him that Leonard was there to see him. He said to show him in.
Fernando calmed down, he and Lucia kissed, and told him where Casilda and Valentina were.
I think this is my last recap for this series. It's been a fascinating study of greed and cold-blooded evil. I will be taking a break from recapping for a while but will be back to comment on the upcoming series.
Finally, Lucía knows that her baby is alive! Was there a baby-swap plot in Amarte es mi Pecado, Mujer de Nadie's original?
"It's been a fascinating study of greed and cold-blooded evil." Indeed. Tomorrow will be my last recap. Only 2 episodes to go!
Weirdo, I believe there was a baby swap but they did not find out until the baby was much older than Valentina.
"Too bad his love interest isn't someone nicer than dog in the manger Sofia" had me smiling away SpanProf! They say the love of a good woman can work miracles, now we will see if the opposite is true! I don't see Sofia softening but...
Luis is making a fool of himself exceptionally well on his own, does he really need Rocio's help?? :)
Missed Marcia last night.
Wholeheartedly agree Zulema should leave. Rene is getting nastier with each passing episode.
Diana
Juju, thanks a lot. It's interesting to see how and how much the new writers change the originals...
UA: Thank you very much for the recap of last night's episode. I enjoyed your full in-depth analysis of the cast of characters.
Weirdo: Isaura won't be long for this world. Sooner or later: the Chickens will come home to roost!
Steve Boudreaux
Urban, thank you for this recap and all the other recalls you have provided . I am glad that things are being resolved quickly instead of being dragged out .
Maybe we will get a wedding and HEA for the longsuffering couple .
Is the bordello still operating ?
Isaura is doomed , but Ale may be redeemed because she helped Fernando get out of jail . I hope Casilde finds some happiness . At least she has Lucia and Pilar.
Diana and SpanProf, thank you for your comments. Busy day yesterday at chez Andy and I am just now watching Thursday's episode, and your comments are a great road map.
Andrea was funny staking her claim to Tyler in front of Erika.
I almost felt sorry for Lolita, crying like that, but she sure recovered fast :-)
I'm going to try to finish watching the episode before the new one starts. It's set up to record so if I have to go out all should be fine.
Later.
Andy
I'm anxious to see Andrea speaking up and telling Katya Diego's secret right in front of him.
I mean...she will, won't she??
Diana
Helena looks lovely but Gonzalo doesn’t even notice. Obviously pushed to her limit, Helena cries out what, rather who the issue is – Andrea! I could not follow their conversation, but Gonzalo must have stuck his foot in his mouth like the cad that he is. Whatever it was, it had to have been significant to make Helena cry and storm out. I wanted her to keep going and was disappointed she was waylaid by the random bar guy when she is at her most vulnerable. I wish Marcia had just let her cry on her shoulder and hadn’t pushed her. Why do I think this will backfire?
Instead of Andrea trying to talk Katya out of her “faux” marriage scheme, she approves of the deception wholeheartedly. I’m very uneasy with this entire premise. Katya realizes this is not real. Right?
Sofia had no right to put her hands on Mario. Love the actress, trying to like the character but can’t quite get there. At least Ignacio has.
Spanish comprehension unnecessary for the Zulema/Rene scene. That image burned my corneas. Ack.
Rocio is pushing the “joke” too far.
Paulina confides her love for Sebastian to Lolita. So…
In the last scene, did Katya tell Rene the wedding will be real???
Diana
Diana, "Sofia had no right to put her hands on Mario. Love the actress, trying to like the character but can’t quite get there. At least Ignacio has."
Oh, naughty, naughty! :-)
This had me laughing for quite a while.
Well, for better or worse the couples have rearranged themselves. It's now Sofía and Ignacio, Gladys and Mario.
What in the world does Zulema see in René? What he sees in her is quite obvious. And Zulema actually seems like a sweetheart, one who shouldn't be throwing herself at the likes of René.
I am truly disappointed in Gonzalo. Early in the show I thought he was a nice guy, but lately he has just been an incredible jerk.
And he just keeps making it worse. Poor Helena!
Does Bonifacio have suspicions about Rocio?
It looks like Lolita and Paulina are allies now, but I think they are going to be disappointed.
Katya has sold the idea of her fake marriage to both René and Andrea on the premise that it will make Tyler really happy and eager to open his wallet for wedding gifts, including big ticket items like a place for Katya and Diego to live. Andrea wants a cut, and Rene seems to also believe this would be a lucrative scam.
But at the end of the episode Katya tells René that she doesn't want the wedding to be fake, she wants a real wedding, and she wants to keep this a secret from Andrea.
I suppose secret from Diego as well. This should not be a valid wedding, but the laws in Telenovelandia can be very different from what we are used to.
Andy
Weirdo: You're doing the recap of last night's episode today ?
I'll post my full in-depth analysis later this afternoon.
Steve Boudreaux
Hey Steve. Yes, I'm recapping today. I decided to do this one instead of Tuesday's. I'm almost done.
Andy, "Zulema actually seems like a sweetheart, one who shouldn't be throwing herself at the likes of René" is exactly right. And a total mystery...
Speaking of, where is Gladys getting the beaucoup bucks? I have no idea what her background is, but could she actually be from a wealthy family or have some type of inheritance? You can only do high-end ticket shopping so many times before a credit card is maxed out. Or is she doing her own scam?
I like Andrea but her maternal not her grifter instinct about the "wedding" should have kicked in. She has taught Katya all too well.
Diana
On Thursday night, I thought I saw a very quick blurb that Mexicana was moving to 3 pm ET...I saw nothing to that effect last night.
I thought it was odd there were no previews and looking at next week's Univision schedule on Comcast, Mexicana is showing as airing at 3 ET starting Monday. Sadly, Uni's moving primetime shows to daytime is not uncommon but I thought there would have been more notice.
Not sure if anyone knows something I don't?
Diana
A small recap because I was busy:
Leonardo is whining that Casi used a fake baby to keep him. Raf says that he was with her for money anyway and Leo whines again that he lost his job and all his money. Raf proposes to work with him if he needs the money so much. He needs the contacts Leo has made when he was working for Alejandra. Leo accepts, Raf informs him that Isa is hiding in San Jacinto. He then calls another guy and proceeds to announce the plan (we don't hear it of course).
Fer holds Valentina (the baby), who keeps looking at the ceiling by the way, and he and Lucía discuss what they'll do. Lucía says that she and Val will return to Raf's house, otherwise it will be suspicious. Everyone is telling her to report it to the police, Fer included, which is weird considering how police handed his case, but Lucía says that she'll tell Isaura to report it(???) Fer says that she won't agree and that they found some bullets on Raf's office that match the ones that were used to kill Rox. They will have to collect the evidence so Raf pays too.
Lucía calls Dominga and asks her about Isaura. Isaura is there and shows (with funny body movements) Dominga to say that she left. Dominga makes a super fake story and Lucía believes it(???) She hangs up and tells Fer. When she hangs up, Dominga tells Isa that she can't do this anymore and that she must leave her house tomorrow. Isa finally has the face of defeat.
Fer tells Lucía that he won't let her go to Raf's house alone. She repeats that he'll realize something is wrong if she doesn't. They kiss.
Fer goes to his mom's. All his family is there (Carlos included). He tells them that he and Paulina aren't getting married, she found his diary and gave it to Lucía because she realized how much he loved her. He also tells them that his daughter is alive and everyone is shocked and muy feliz. Even Michelle hugs her brother.
Lucía is now at Raf's. He sees Val and Lucía tells him that Casilda confessed to her that Val is not her daughter (I think Lucía also told Raf that Val is her daughter). She adds that Casi didn't tell her who made the swap. Raf says that now she has another name to add to her revenge list and Lucía responds "one or many". She wants to adopt Val and Raf pretends to be supportive. He holds Val and says that she'll give her his last name(!) Lucía tells him that they're going to be a family, they and their daughter. Raf says that this is what he always wanted.
It's a new day. Toña is on the phone with Lucía and tells her that she saw Isa on the street. A big black van comes and some men (Raf's men) come out. The drag the "disguised" Isa in the truck as she's screaming. Toña is still on the phone and tells Lucía what happened.
Raf is also on the phone with one of his guys, they tell him they caught Isa and Raf says that they know what to do.
Lucía tells Raf that she's going to see Casi and he stops her, tells her that he feels she's more distant. She says no and that she found out who made the swap. It was Isa. Raf pretends to be shocked and asks her who told her that. Lucía says that it was Ale. The conversation shifts to Val, Raf says that she and Lucía are the most important thing for him (🤮). Lucía wants him to bring Isa to her and he asks her what's in it for him? She says that she'll be in his life as much as he wants (and the way he wants, I think?) and Raf tries to kiss Lucía. She doesn't move at all, so he can't kiss her. She tells him to bring her Isaura.
Lucía is in her car and promises to her baby that this nightmare will end soon. She calls Fer and tells him about Isa and that she suspects it was Raf. Fer wants her out of Raf's house and she tells him she's going to go to Casi's. Fer is currently driving, he's going to Paulina's, she's got worse.
In the next scene, Fer is at Pau's. Diego says that he wants to help his sister and that she doesn't have much time left. She suddenly says her brother's name and they both go to where she is. Makeup department did a good job, she looks so sick.
Lucía tells Casi that Val is her baby and Casi says that she didn't know, she would have never agreed if she knew it was Lucía's, they told her that the baby's mom died and e.t.c. Ale says that she did all this to keep Leo and Lucía says "And who are you to judge her?" (I mean, lying to everyone about a random kid being your daughter TO "KEEP" A NOVIO is a stupid reason to do it.) Lucía then asks Ale why didn't she say something when she found out, Ale tries to explain and then stops. Casi asks "then, my daughter is in that grave?" Lucía confirms it.
Pau's scene with Fer and Diego is very sad. Fer tells her about his daughter and she says that life gave him a second opportunity, he should take advantage of it because no one really knows how much time they have left. Fer is crying and thanks Pau for everything.
Michelle, Marta and Carlos look at a building that I assume will be their company? Claudia comes and they tell Carlos that she's their nueva socia! Michelle and Marta leave them alone for a bit. Carlos asks Claudia if she has forgiven him, she says "We'll see" or something like that and kisses him. Michelle and Marta watch them and smile.
Lucía is with Casi at Casi's daughter's grave. Casi apologizes both to Lucía and to Valentina, but Lucía says that she's not to blame. Casi wants to be left alone with her baby and Lucía leaves with Val.
Casi is crying and asks her daughter for forgiveness, she did all of this for Leonardo, but she truly loves her, always did and always will. Ale is meters away, watching.
Raf's men take Isa to Raf, who tells her that Lucía wanted him to hand her (Isa) over to her. His men take her to the stables. Please tape her mouth shut or something. Please.
Ale approaches Casi and asks her to forgive her. She doesn't want anything, all the money is Casi's. She just wants her to forgive her. Ale adds that Casi didn't deserve how she treated her, didn't deserve that life. Casi says she forgives her, but still looks pretty angry. Ale thanks her. (Meh, since they wanted to redeem Ale, they really should have written her less evil. Now this looks weird.)
Michelle and Néstor visit Diego. Diego admits that he was an imbecile with his sister. Not just with your sister, pal. Not just with your sister. Nothing important here.
Lucía's phone rings; it's Raf. He tells her that he has Isa, he completed his part of the deal. Lucía hangs up and leaves Val to Alejandra. Ale doesn't want her to go alone, she wants to come with her. Lucía says that Fer's coming too and Ale tells her "hija, cuidate". Lucía leaves.
Diego, Michelle and Néstor go to Pau's room, where she and Fer are. She tells Fer that she loves him and asks her brother to promise that he won't be alone. He promises and Pau asks Fer to not leave her brother alone. Fer promises that he won't. She thanks everyone for coming. Nobody can hold their tears back. Pau smiles and just like that, she dies. When they realize it, everyone starts crying even more than before. At least she died smiling, she didn't suffer...
Isaura is badly hurt in the stables. One of them keeps asking her what did she say to Lucía, she insists that she didn't say anything. He puts a gun in her head and she finally shuts up.
Lucía is outside of Raf's house. She sends an audio message (or whatever it's called) to Fer, telling him that she went to Raf's and he should go to Ale's when he can to take care of Valentina. When she sends it, she opens the car's case thing and gets a GUN!
Lucía gets in the house and Raf asks her where Val is. Lucía says that she's with a person that will take care of her and asks where Isaura is. Raf says that she's in a safe place and that he fulfilled his part of the deal, when will she fulfill hers? He tries to kiss her but she goes away LOL. He tells her that he's losing his patience, when will she be his? A house employee comes in and says that she brought what she asked her to. She leaves, Lucía says that it's a gift for him. He opens the box and -surprise- it's the same creepy doll-thing that Lucía's enemy got. Lucía gets her gun out and tells him that she knows he swapped the babies.
Lucía tells him that she knows that he was behind everything, not Isa. Raf says that it was Isa the one who looked for him, not the opposite. He tells her that if she shoots him, she'll end up in prison for the rest of her life and never see her daughter again. He "did everything for love", that baby would remind her of Fernando. QTH? He tells her about 100 times that she should shoot him. She lowers her gun and says that he'll rot in prison. Just shoot him already! He says that if she talks with Isaura, he'll kill(?) her daughter, she knows exactly where she is and with who. She tells him that if he hurts her daughter, she'll kill him.
Isaura is still with Raf's men, she's mumbling and crying at the same time, so I didn't understand anything apart from "tengo dinero", "Pedro" and "bebé".
Raf repeats that his men are with Val. Lucía doesn't believe him, so he video-calls his men. They show us his men at Alejandra's, going upstairs. Raf turns his phone and shows Lucía the baby's room and his men and hangs up. Lucía tells him to get them out of there and Raf says that they can negotiate now. He tells her to give him the gun.
Fer is driving to Raf's and is on the phone with Ale. The baby isn't at Ale's, fortunately, since Ale says that the baby is in a safe place and Ale's in a car. She tells him to rescue Lucía.
Now Lucía is on the phone with someone, still having the gun in her hands. She suddenly shoots at a plant and I almost had a heart attack. Anyway, she tells Raf to call his men to leave and he gets his phone. Raf didn't do it to stop the attack on Val of course, he saw Leo at the reflection of the window behind Lucía. Speaking of butthole of the year, Leo grabs Lucía's gun and some other of Raf's men grabbed Lucía. He tells her that she'll loose Valentina forever (+ Fer) and thar they're going to be happy, mi amor, in the creepiest way possible.
And with Lucía' tears and Raf's creepy look, we have the Fin del Capítulo.
Good stuff, Weirdo. I was hoping to see Lucia toughen up for real, but
..
Rafael is a criminal mastermind but doesn't stop creeping me out. This actor has done a brilliant job so far.
Leonardo could end up dead along with the others who have bitten the dust. I do think that Lucia would be better off with Rafael dead vs him being in prison. Who knows what stri gs he could still pull from a prison cell.
Paulina's death was very sad. Much too young to die. I hope this actress gets more work soon.
Weirdo: Thank you very much for the recap of last night's episode. Lucia OMG! WTH was she thinking going in there by herself ?
Leonardo will get his Karma Anvil sooner or later.
UA: Paulina's death scene was emotional.
My personal thoughts:
*THE CRAZY: Psycho Rafael plotting more evilness non-stop.
*THE CHICKENS COMING HOME TO ROOST: Isaura. You should've fled to Brazil.
*THE STUPID: Lucia. You should've brought backup with you when you drove back to Rafael's mansion.
*THE LOVEBIRDS: Carlos & Claudia: Awww.
*THE EMOTIONAL FORGIVENESS: Casilda apologizing to Lucia & Valentina especially Valentina.
*THE SADNESS: RIP Paulina. I liked jer alot in this Teleserye. Has anyone noticed that Juana Arias (who portrayed Paulina) has been killed off in I think the 2nd Telenovela: She was killed off in Season 6 of "ESDLC".
Steve Boudreaux
SpanProf, thank you for confirming Mario asked Gladys to return the items (which seemed to be mostly or all for him). He did look hot in that leather jacket though!
At least for the next two weeks, looks like La Herencia is airing from 8-10 Eastern...
Diana
Weirdo, thank you for that excellent ,detailed account of last note guys episode.
The scene of Paul in a dying was so sad , but she mercifully passed quickly with her loved ones around her. ?
What business is Marta starting?
TBE been is adorable and Livia( Lucia) seems very at ease holding her and carrying her around .
We are nearing the end . I wonder what anvils are hanging over Rafe and Isa....death or jail.
Then, we get a redeemed abuela Ale. I agree that if the writers intended to reform her, they shouldn't have made her so vicious and cruel to Casi. How many times did she sneer at Casi and tell her how ugly and worthless she was...too many !
I guess will get the white wedding with Valentin in attendance .
Excellent comments by the patio as always.
Pau's death was one of the saddest I have ever seen. Ok, fine, I did start watching telenovelas in 2020, but anyway. I am hoping to see Juana Arias more too, Urban.
Steve, I laughed out loud at "The Stupid". She really should have brought back-up. Rafael isn't an easy target; he wouldn't be where he was if he was one.
Susan, I was wondering about Marta's business too. I don't think the writers ever mentioned it before. Odd.
Two things that were weird (in my opinion):
1) I wasn't expecting Claudia to end up with Carlos. They saw each other like 3 times before they got together. I thought she was going to end up with Diego. Since they redeemed him, I find it weird that they didn't end up together. I hated them when Diego was, well, Diego, but now it would make sense for them to be juntos.
2) Why would the writers show us signs of Michelle ending up with Néstor and then make him gay? That was really weird. Either make them a couple at the end or don't show relationship hints. Maybe the writers changed their mind halfway through or something? Am I the only one that thinks it's weird?
Marta is a good baker and all of her kids have been telling her she should go into business. I believe there have been a couple of mentions of her "filling orders," probably for friends and neighbors, so maybe she's starting a cupcake shop?
First, let me thank you, Diana and SpanProf, because I never noticed anything about a time change for Mexicana. There are days when I would like to just drop a bomb on Unicrap.
It seems it is moving to 3 PM ET, the 8 PM slot going to La herencia. But also note that on Tuesday Mexicana airs at 12:50 PM because of fútbol. Sheesh!
I guess Mexicana is not an outrageous success at night.
I hope I can keep the DVR programmed OK to record the shows now. One thing I will miss is that Mexicana will now not be rebroadcast at 2 AM ET, which was my backup if something went wrong with the DVR.
Yeah, Gladys is a compulsive shopper like doña Maty is a compulsive gambler. Luckily for Gladys the urge is not constant, only when she is anxious or upset. That Mario recognizes this and is willing to go with her to return her purchases predicts good things about them as a couple. Gladys has no money of her own other than her salary from Andrea, she was a roomie with Erika and Paulina, and in financial distress when Andrea recruited her. All Andrea's recruits were in financial distress which is why they signed on.
Rocio has a (slightly) evil side :-)
I have to wonder how many babies are going to be delivered by the show's end. Gladys has several times mentioned that her great desire is to become a mother. Our long-suffering Marcia said something about it was a disappointment that she never got pregnant.
Hopefully Unicrap will let us find out.
Andy
Andy, a decade plus ago, Un Gauccho al corazon (with an amazing cast) aired during the evening for about 190 of its 220 episodes. Inexplicably "Unicrap" (laughing out loud) moved it to 2 p.m. Not long after, in their infinite wisdom, they moved Corazon Salvaje 2009 to midnight after only a few weeks. I was still working but was so invested watched it anyway, with little sleep.
I don't have a DVR and not sure how often I'll be able to watch Mexicana at the new time but will try to when I can.
I appreciate the info on Gladys. You can never be sure, she might have been a wealthy heirless looking for kicks. But I could recommend almost any other situation rather than this hornet's nest!
I hope both Gladys and Marcia have the children they want. I am NOT 100% convinced Mario and Sofia are done with each other. I'm not worried, I'm always wrong.
Diana
Diana, you have me worried, "I am NOT 100% convinced Mario and Sofia are done with each other. I'm not worried, I'm always wrong."
First, for Mario's sake I hope that they are done with each other.
Second, if you are always wrong, and I am always wrong, if we disagree on something is that like the "an irresistible force meeting an immovable object" dilemma?
Ay, Caray!
I don't know if I would watch any television if I didn't have my $35 DVR/PVR. Some years back, after I lost someone, I stopped watching TV completely for a number of years. Then, hoping to recover the little Spanish I had had, I started watching telenovelas again. During commercials I would go get coffee or channel surf (I don't have cable, so it's only "30 channels and nothing on" :-)
I drank a lot of coffee but only got to see half an episode of the telenovela which made it even harder to follow.
Getting my external DVR and a couple of thumb drives made it possible for me to watch telenovelas once again.
Unless Rgv Chick revives the daytime novelas page I suppose we will continue commenting here.
Diana, don't make yourself crazy trying to watch. I think it's a great telenovela, but it's just a telenovela, another television show. Not something that can't be missed.
Andy
"If we disagree on something is that like the "an irresistible force meeting an immovable object" dilemma?" Andy, I don't have an answer I say laughingly. Mario was so devastated when an enraged Sofia threw his rings back at him. Her subsequent behavior has been cruel at best. I'm making no excuses for her but when she is hurt (spying Gladys even though she was with Ignacio), she lashes out in anger. And then some. At first, I think Gladys was initially Mario's "love the one you're with" but thankfully, it has evolved into something much deeper.
As far as "it's only 30 channels and nothing on", I have triple that amount and can still find little to watch! 😊
I am very sorry for your loss. I am glad you came back to novelas and more so that you joined Caray, Caray. Your "voice" here is so appreciated as is your presence.
This story is a good one but like any tale, it's the company you keep that makes sharing opinions, laughing at silly dialog and/or events, etc. so much fun.
Bring on the wedding! Like most of the storylines here, it may not be "legal" but it should be highly entertaining.
Diana
Diana and Andy, I agree that there is very little on tv that I want to watch. Growing up we had 3 channels . Now I have cable and get so many channels , but I would rather watch Telenovelas which have pretty crazy storylines, but at least they are stories about people and have a beginning ,a midd!e, and an end. I also watch reruns of old shows like The Match Game and Password and Tattle tales and old sitcoms . They really make me see how much life has changed .
Susanlynn, yes, I also grew up with NBC, CBS and ABC. I believe PBS came a bit later. It always seemed as though there was something worthwhile on.
I can't imagine life without any telenovelas. Like you, I enjoy that each unique story can be followed from beginning to completion unlike typical "soaps" which I haven't watched in years (are they still on?)
I do watch quite a bit of PBS and Animal Planet.
Diana
Diana, "Bring on the wedding! Like most of the storylines here, it may not be "legal" but it should be highly entertaining."
I'm with you on this! My only disappointment is that Katya told Diego, I think it was Diego, that it would be a civil ceremony, no church wedding. I do love me a grand telenovela church wedding with a beautiful bride wearing a beautiful wedding gown! And if the bride runs away rather than going through with it, fine by me, that's great fun too!
But now that Katya has told René that she doesn't want the wedding to be fake, but for real, I don't know if he will go along with it. He's still hoping to win fair Andrea and this would not help him with that. Not that I think he has a real shot with Andrea; more likely he will wind up with Zulema -- whom he does not deserve at all!
But if that does happen I hope she makes him pay and pay for every slight he ever made. But she's probably too nice.
As far as TV, the only thing I watch these days is telenovelas, preferably just one at a time. Back some years ago I used to watch various British imports on PBS, such as "Hercule Poirot", "Sherlock Holmes", etc. And "Sesame Street", not as a child, my childhood was pre-Sesame Street, but as an adult. Loved it.
Years before that I went through a phase of reading a lot of Brit novels from Dickens to A.C. Doyle to H. Rider Haggard to Agatha Christie. More modern stuff, American or Brit, largely does not appeal to me, maybe a little John Grisham.
Andy
Will both the bride and groom both show up? Will Katya proceed with her plan, deliberately deceiving Diego? Will anyone object? Will everyone object? Question upon question.
Rene will do only what benefits Rene. I'm not sure he would go out of his way to do much of anything for Andrea. He seems to tether her to him now by threats. He treats her as though she were property. Zulema just deserves SO much better. Smart woman, foolish choice.
My earlier PBS favorites were Fawlty Towers and Monty Python. Later, Poirot and Prime Suspect. I used to read all the time which I can't now but I still enjoy it.
Will they or won't they? I'm hoping they won't. But we should find out tomorrow!
Diana
But sort of ON topic considering our earlier discussion of television.
A friend who sends me jokes and humorous jpegs, etc., sent several today.
One that stood out was:
"You think you know stress??
When I was a kid if you missed a TV show, you just missed it... FOREVER."
Thank God for DVRs!

GRAN FINAL:
Weirdo: You're doing the recap for tonight's Gran Final ?
Steve Boudreaux
So does Helena call Marsha, which would be the logical thing to do? Nopis. I’m not sure how anyone could take the simpering fool in the flowered dressing robe seriously, but I digress. For loathsome, cheating Gonzalo, who inexplicably brought Brandon along, this was the perfect opportunity to turn everything on its head. Seeing Helena on her knees begging a haranguing Gonzalo for forgiveness was sickening. Now he has an “excuse” for the separation he himself so badly wants. Oh no, excuse me. He tells the kids it’s divorce! I didn’t get the little speech about infidelity, but I sense it’s just as well. Brandon tells Helena she is no longer his mother? Beyond vicious. At least Rocio goes to comfort her mother.
Sofia sure seems to like Ignacio. Let’s see what she does the first time he ticks her off.
Did Mario tell Sofia he was suing for all or partial custody of Melody?? Erika sure got an eyeful of Sofia’s on the edge anger and behavioral issues.
Lolita is turning up the heat, how much longer is Sebastian going to stay quiet??
Finally, Gonzalo scurries to tell Andrea his marriage is over. As Judy always says “it’s only a story” but this was totally depressing and dispiriting.
Diana
"disgusting hypocrite" is spot on SpanProf!! It was so obvious nothing happened and while little surprises me where Gonzalo is concerned, I felt ill Brandon treated his mother so cruelly. Helena is a recent cancer survivor - does no one remember that?
Why does everyone think they can flounce into Andrea's bedroom whenever they'd like?? Gonzalo is a dog in heat and needs to be fixed.
SpanProf, Sofia was so angry I assumed Mario brought up custody. Thanks for noting he hadn't. Why is she so out of control??? Yes, she wants Ignacio but doesn't want to give up Mario, you are exactly right. Good luck with that. Ack.

Helena actually looked like she was enjoying her conversation with Juan Carlos, but she is almost as gullible as Tyler...
She never should have gone to his room, but Gonzalo and Brandon saved the day, although that should have been unnecessary.
"Come on up to see my etchings, bird pictures, whatever" is as old as dirt, but at the first sign that Helena was freaking out that jerk should have apologized and just let her out with a million more apologies. Jerk. Good for Gonzalo, there; later, not so much.
Brandon? Brandon is such a moral exemplar that he can judge his mother like this?
Sofía is Bat Guano Crazy. Mario owes her something for the years they were together, but that "something" should involve a psychiatrist or other counselor. One who can write for meds because I think she needs some. Alcohol won't do. Erika looked a little scared.
Have we seen Sofía smoke before? The world has changed. There was a time when everybody smoked on TV, now it's just bad guys and nut cases.
Gonzalo with Andrea was almost as bad as Juan Carlos. "I'm now a free man." As if Andrea should swoon and fall into his arms.
Univision's schedule page still shows Tuesday's airing of Mexicana at 12:50 PM ET because of fútbol.
I sure hope we get back to the fun stuff soon.
