Mexicana. I'm here, Diana. I was just incredibly busy yesterday, though I did take the time to watch the novela episode. Diego and Sebastian just had their usual argument, in which Diego denies that he has feelings or Katya, but says that he does want to do the right thing and take responsibility for his "baby." Sebastian rather creepily and selfishly tell Diego that he would rather have Diego just walk away from the whole pregnancy business. And whoa! Olinka is truly evil! Not only does she want to kill Tyler so that Andrea will get all his money, but then she has plans to kill both Rene and Andrea so that she will end up with everything. How she will handle that inheritance-wise is kind of a mystery. I think it's lovely how well Melody and Gladys are hitting it off. Gladys can be a very comforting person.

You convey so much so beautifully in just a few well chosen words. I knew Sebastian wasn't being terribly supportive but I didn't realize "Sebastian rather creepily and selfishly tell Diego that he would rather have Diego just walk away from the whole pregnancy business." I keep hoping he will be a better person but that hope is evaporating up in smoke.

So Olinka is planning a blood bath?? She is really ruthless. And yes, "Gladys can be a very comforting person". Thank you so much for the important information you shared.

I have been trying to do a few summaries while I can as one of my brothers and his girlfriend are coming for Thanksgiving so I won't be able to watch or comment next Thursday or Friday (not sure about Wednesday either). I will plan on doing something today, unless of course anyone would else would like to? I feel the more the merrier, but that's just me.

Luis is ascending the stair, arms flailing wildly as Tyler puts Rodrigo into a car to follow him…

Sebastian and Lolita get into another heated discussion, his father is mentioned. They end up hugging each other as Ignacio comes in. I gather he is going to see Erika at the bank.

Luis lands “home”, munching on bread as Diego tries to keep from laughing. The two friends go back into Luis house as Rodrigo observes, unsure what all this means. Tyler recalls hearing Andrea through the door saying he is not her brother. Andrea, in the flesh enters. He folds his arms and doesn’t seem exactly happy to see her. She approaches him with love in her eyes, but he moves back and moves away. I love you she says. Answer me she begs. There is a world of difference between you and Olinka Tyler says. She is not my sister! Andrea leaves, in tears behind the door. I love you she repeats.

Gladys calls Sofia telling her Melody is with her. Sofia rushes out like a madwoman. She runs into the room and tries to pull Melody out of the bed. Mario holds onto her and eventually the tug of war ends. I am Melody’s father he says, indicating he has rights (which he does). Melody does not want to leave. Sofia stalks out, livid and we get a chill and know there will be a significant fallout.

Olinka is falling all over Dona Maty. After a few pleasantries, Andrea comes in followed by Marcia. Olinka walks up a very steep staircase and runs into Katya. Olinka drops her purse purposely and when Katya bends down to pick it up, Olinka deliberately pushes Katya down the stairs!!

Olinka goes down and bends over Katya then screams for help. Rodrigo carries Katya and puts her on the bed. Tyler says she should go to the hospital. Andrea rouses her. Her arm hurts but otherwise, she seems OK. Andrea tells Katya this is the perfect opportunity to pretend to have lost the (non-existent) baby (which was just cringeworthy). Katya gives an Oscar-winning performance, screaming at the top of her lungs as the (fake) doctor is called. Olinka is happy Katya lost the baby. Gonzalo and Gladys show up. Dona Maty is upset, poor thing. She goes on about her grandchild as Tyler and Rodrigo look at each other. What about the father Maty asks? The doctor comes out. Gonzalo is searching Andrea’s rom again, picking the bed up, going through doors…Uh oh, he finds a gun in her bottom drawer and takes it! Katya and Andrea have their stories straight. She pays the doctor off as he smiles. Katya tells her mother the fall wasn’t an accident – Olinka pushed her!

Someone called Diego as he shows up. The doctor tells him Katya lost the baby. Diego cries, devastated. Maty and Gladys are both crying. Katya is young and she will recover Tyler tells Katya. Rodrigo looks upset also. Diego wants to see Katya, but Andrea says no. But she takes Tyler in! Tyler tells Katya how sorry he is. Tyler tells Andrea Katya wants to see Diego. He goes in, crying. Diego, she says. Who told you she asks? Marcia he responds (are we surprised, no). He wants her to talk to him, but she tells him to leave. He offers words of comfort as he does just that. Katya does seem upset and later voices a bit of regret to Chabela. I am sorry Diego tells Andrea; Katya is very upset. Andrea gives Chabela a prescription to fill. Andrea will show Olinka out. She accosts Olinka who weakly says it was an accident. Andrea slaps her twice. Olinka taunts her about Tyler. Diego arrives home in tears.

Luis sporting a purple apron, peeks out and sees Rodrigo at the door. He invites him in. Rodrigo sees Luis and Marcia’s wedding pic and takes a snap!

The show ends with Katya and Andrea, Chabela comes in, I believe she says the police have been called.

Diana, thank you for another great, and quick!, recap.

I haven't had a chance to watch the show just yet, but you have already cleared up one thing for me. I thought that Tyler still didn't know for sure that Andrea was not his sister. I thought he might have had some doubts as he's now aware there is a scam going on, but he knows more than I thought.

And, as always, your recap was a fun read.

Don't worry about the episodes around Thanksgiving. I can do a couple of the infamous "andycaps" as I will be here next week.
I got an invitation from my sister, and I love my sister, but it's a long trip and I don't like turkey anyway.

I told her I was concerned about Covid and she accepted that. I didn't tell her I also worry about giant meteors wiping out most life on Earth again, or any of my other worries. I thought it might make Covid look like a smaller issue.

I have had Covid already, but it was no big deal because I was vaccinated and boosted. My doctor said that's what the vaccinations and boosters were for, to take a possibly very serious illness and make it a minor one.

SpanProf, it's nice to see you back. Jan, you too!

I'm glad we are all here, but this novela really deserved a larger audience.

Mexicana. It was horrible the way Olinka shoved Katya. She could have died! I felt sorry for all those kind people--especially Diego--standing outside Katya's door who truly believed she had had a miscarriage. And a corrupt doctor? Oh nos! But of course if anyone knew of a corrupt doctor it would be Andrea and Katya. Sofia is behaving so irrationally that I suspect that Melody will be in physical danger if she goes back to live with her.

After traveling many hours over decades to go "home," I am not quite as willing to get in the car and go.... Like you, I miss family but have been relieved that over the last year or so, they have come here...

Am relieved you survived COVID because a world without Andycaps is one I can't even begin to imagine (or want to)!

SpanProf, I've been uneasy with all the subterfuge but never as much as today. Watching "...all those kind people - especially Diego.." suffer for something that never happened was just terrible.

I completely agree that Sofia must be taken from Sofia until and if she is able to become and stay sober. Miracles do happen and she might become a "fit" mother but she is not one now. She needs to be with Mario and Gladys.

VENCER LA AUSENCIA # 17 Part 1

Notes from the Couch . . .

I had some extra time tonight so there are more "notes" than usual. Events are not in order. Feel free to add anything I did not include. My only question for tonight: Are we sure Flavia is not Claudia's daughter? Maybe Flavia and Ester were switched at birth!
Ha! Ha!

-Flashback: we find out that in order for Margarita to get the loan from Flavia she had to get her friends to sign a contract taking full responsibility for paying back the loan as well as give Flavia a blank promissory note/IOU. Flavia said she would draw up the papers herself. Margarita knew that Ester would never borrow money from Flavia so she devises a plan where Celeste will sign first which will help Julia and Ester sign with never asking who the lender is. Margarita says if they find out after the truck is bought and the business is operational, it will be a different story. Julia arrives and Margarita gives her the spiel about this personal loan being the only one she could get. Celeste has her doubts about violating the trust of her friends.

-The police from Matahuala call Julia with two addresses where Misael was known to be in Querétero. Rodolfo and the family are desperate to find Danny. Yes, we were all right. Danny was hiding in the dirty laundry. He gets out when Julia and Angel make their first "Misael was here" stop which turns out to be a coffee shop. The owner never saw Misael. Julia gets a call that Danny is missing and he magically appears trying to get into the SUV. Angel explains that Danny only wanted to find out what happened to his father. The second place is a hardware company that does business with Funes trucking. Misael looks familiar to a guy woking there but he cannot place him. Angel calls Braulio and asks for a list of the last times they did business with the hardware company. It turns out that Funes delivered a package from Laredo to the hardware company that just happened to coincide with the date of the accident. The hardware guy says that there was a large package inside of which was a smaller one that they didn't order. He gives Angel the small package. Inside is Misael's cellphone. Angel thinks they should turn it over to the police. Julia thinks maybe they should look at it first themselves? Danny has a fever and is ill. Angel takes him to the hospital.


 

VENCER Part 2

-Rayo is getting hysterical not knowing where she is going to go. She is packing up as much as she can. Teo agrees to delay his mother's and the owner's arrival. He goes home and plays sick until he is sure they will be coming later. He warns Rayo.

-Flavia cannot see the connection between the money that Ester owes her and the apartment. Claudia reminds her of how good Ester was with her when she had her problems. Flavia will think about it.

-Claudia talked to a friend from Guadalajara who can get Ester a job at a counseling service for victims of domestic violence. The only thing is that Ester will have to go to Guadalajara for the interview. Ester is apprehensive about leaving the apartment. Ester decides to call the friend to find out more about the job and finds out her mother was lying. There was no job. She asks her mother if she is the reason that Flavia made her the offer. Claudia says she just wanted to help her by getting her out of the apartment. She tells her mother that she has until tomorrow to leave.

-Flavia asks Celeste to be a witness as they inspect Margarita's apartment. Flavia is appalled by how messy it is. Celeste notices some food in the garbage that is still fresh. She hides it in the washer. Ester appears and asks if this apartment will be up for rent soon. The owner says as soon as they can get it in shape and would be happy if she had somebody in mind to rent it. Later, Flavia wants to know why Ester was interested in this apt. She reminds Ester she will be moving soon. Ester tells her that she is staying. She was only asking on behalf of a person who is looking for a place to live. Flavia has a deal for Ester. If she returns the apartment to Max, she will forgive her debt for the truck. Ester is not interested. She doubts she can get her out legally. Flavia tells her to just wait and see what she can do. As they are talking, Rayo and Mati are hiding under a table.

-Ester tells Celeste off for her and Margarita lying to them about who was giving them the loan. Celeste asks Flavia for the keys to Margarita's apartment to see if Rayo forgot some photos or items of her mother she might want some day. Flavia says no problem.

-Ester tells her mother how Margarita deceived them about Flavia lending them the money. She put them in Flavia's hands. She could sue them. Now more than ever, she wants to pay off that debt. She tells Claudia about the "deal" Flavia was willing to make. Claudia tells her it is a good way to make a fresh start.

-Rayo and Mati emerge from their hiding place. Rayo cannot believe that her mother lied to her friends about the loan. Mati says her mother was an expert first class liar. Rayo wants to know what the plan is. Mati says she can still live there by hiding in one part of the apartment or another. Lots of people do it.


 

VENCER Part 3

-Jero throws a fit when he learns that Donato who took EVERYTHING from him is going to move into HIS house. His solution is to sell the property and split the profit. (Sounds right to me) Lerna does not agree. She tells him he is just as immature and stupid as before. That does nothing to change his mind. Ebe tells him to calm down and think about what is best for everyone. (I ask if that includes what is best also for Jero. Somehow I doubt it. ) Ester calls him to tell him that Margarita's apartment will be up for rent soon. He wants to come by and see it. She will make sure they know he is coming.

-The neurologist tells Celeste that everything she is experiencing is normal for a pregnant patient with MS. The pregnancy will support her immune system but they still have to be concerned about the first trimester. The doctor explains that Celeste needs to be careful to notice any new symptom or the worsening of an already present symptom. Later, the doctor tells Braulio that she sees that Celeste is not accepting her MS diagnosis. She suggests that Celeste get some professional counseling. He says he knows he-is wife and she won't go for it. He is the best person to help her.

-Armando tries to get info from Homero. He isn't talking.

-Braulio calls Flavia to tell he that he deposited his wife's payment.

-Flavia is waiting on some documents so she can start her new business.

-Celeste goes to Rayo's apartment and looks around. She finds Rayo's backpack and knows that Rayo was recently there.

-The engagement shindig is going strong but where is Angel? Ana Sofi texts him. He tells her he had an emergency and will call her. Julia feels bad about him being there. Angel says Danny's health comes first. The doctor says that Danny has meningitis. They need to get his temperature down and keep him under observation. They cannot move him today.

-Angel calls Ana Sofi and she lets him have it. Where is he and when is he coming??? He says he is very sorry that he is not there but HE TOLD HER that he had to go to Querétero and HE WENT to Querétero. (Like there was no other day to schedule the engagement shindig?? Guess that Ana Sofí wants what she wants when she wants it!!) )She demands to know who he is with when she hears Julia talking to Angel. Who is that woman??
 

VENCER

Jarifa, an excellent and insightful recap. Some previously hidden information on a few of our main characters was revealed, and none of it pretty.

The two biggest looming questions were Danny and Angel. Thankfully, Danny has reappeared and is safe, if not well. Angel never making his engagement party surprised no one, except perhaps Elle Woods, err, Ana Sofi.

Unwanted, unwelcomed Jero lingers still at “the house”. He rages about Donato, but the truth is that Jero must shoulder most of the blame. I had to smile at your clever “Ebe tells him to calm down and think about what is best for everyone. (I ask if that includes what is best also for Jero. Somehow, I doubt it)”. Me too, Jarifa. Me too.

I shook my head at “Braulio…knows his wife and she won't go for it (counseling). He is the best person to help her”. Yes, of course he is viewerville mocks as we group eye roll and stare in disgust.

“Margarita knew that Ester would never borrow money from Flavia so she devises a plan where Celeste will sign first which will help Julia and Ester sign with never asking who the lender is” and “Celeste has her doubts about violating the trust of her friends” were pivotal. Margarita concocted quite a devious plan, lying to and taking advantage of her friends. The worst result is that Rayo is the one suffering. Celeste knew what they were doing was wrong and yet she went along with it.

On the positive side, Angel is a good man and is being a real friend to Julia. Ester is digging her heels in, refusing to move. Hopefully, Jero will leave his hornets’ nest shortly and move into Margarita’s house. I don’t know where that leaves Rayo unless Braulio relents which he doesn’t seem prone to.

A few things like stood out for me from the episode:


The adorable: The episodes starts right back up on the precious little Isabella storming to mommy's defense and forming a little pint size wall between Daniela and Memo with her arms stretched out to keep Memo away!! It was so cute and the fire arrows shooting from her eyes to Memo while he was trying to look harmless and innocent was again precious. Memo worrying later about Isa being mad at her was cute too. These two definitely light up the screen together. Later when Memo bribed back Isa's friendship with a telescope it was equally endearing.

The reprehensible: Karen goes to me Fausto at the hotel and asks if he still has energy sufficient to be with the woman he really wants.....she also gets the opportunity to pick up her camera but she doesn't grab it until AFTER their morning trist is captured on video!!! We hear more about the details of Fausto's inheritance and how he has to stay married until Isa is 18. Karen wants a marriage now....I didn't really care but they did mention how no one in the office suspects them because they act like they hate each other and it reminded me of how Fausto pretended to Daniela that he hated the fact Karen was visiting their house.....yawn, these two are pathetic I'm so not interested.

Amparo catches her husband - is it Marcario? - on the phone sweet talking we don't yet know who but looks like this guy is a cheater no surprise there. He covers though and later we learn he's giving money to the mystery caller. Is it the same money missing from their daughter's fund? Amparo gets flowers from Eugenio Zambrano as an apology for Sabastian getting her daughters in trouble the day before. Even the man himself admits that flowers are a little over the top but Amparo just hopes Marcario does get a little jealous, maybe then she'll get flowers from him once in awhile. Not sure if we're seeing interest from Eugenio to Amparo or if he's just an old school gentleman but these two were semi-cute together.

Daniela is getting glimpses of what it would be like to have the support of a husband as memo tends to all her needs, actually listens to her talk, steps in to help her find a cheaper mechanic when the guy who has car tries to charge her a arm and an leg and finally agrees to attend her client dinner with her! Too bad she also got a glimpse of Ursula greeting her man with a full frontal assault (ie. marking my territory in an unmistakable way) kiss!!! She runs and jumps at him and then starts full on making out with him when she arrives to pick up the car and finds him with Dani. It was extreme!!! But it made me laugh....

So since the beginning of this Sebastian, Juanpa, Lupita and Gaby double dating I figured the more outgoing Gaby and Sebastian would get together and the quiet Lupita and Juanpa would end up drawn to each other, but Sebastian sure does seem taken with Lupita so maybe we'll get the whole 'the good girl causes the wild bad boy to change his ways' story. Juanpa seems in absolute awe of Gaby, it's almost cute, but mostly corny. Juanpa did warn Sebastian to be careful with Lupita because it's obvious she's super innocent....hopefully that isn't foreshadowing something awful. Sebastian doesn't seem like a bad guy yet, just a young spoiled kid who likes to have fun. I hope they don't turn him into something worse than Karen!!! Karen is bad enough for sure.

Thanks Jarifa, I loved your comment about Claudia and Flavio, they are two of a kind. I’m glad Ester was smart enough to call about the job! She apparently knows her mom!

Angel is much too good for AnaSofia. He could have dropped them at a hospital and gone , but he chose to stay.

I hope Jero moves into the apartment. Feel that will stir up some things. Also think he should sell the house, why give it to your cheating wife and her lover!

I’m relieved that Celeste knows about Rayo but doubt that Braulio will let Celeste help her. I also doubt he’ll even tell Celeste what the doctor said

The phone being mailed the day of the accident seems very strange. Did Misael mail it or someone else?

Loved the “adorable” especially “forming a little pint size wall”. A sweet, gentle little girl but definitely a force to be reckoned with! Top tier galans seem to bond with the children they work with and that is definitely happening here. Memo looks so earnestly hopeful!

Macario is a sleaze which Alberto Estrella does oh so well. I was surprised but I really liked Ampario and Eugenio together, what an interesting potential match.

I now know who Gaby is and who Lupita is, I wasn’t sure.

I’m enjoying every minute of this and am so grateful for all your wise and sharp observations Darcy!

I don’t think anyone could go lower than Karen. Right? Just the thought makes me shiver.

I keep forgeting how much I disliked Leenar. So she just wants her husband to move out when he helped pay for the house? Does that woman even think about anyone that isn't herself? I'd quite like to know why Geronimo fell in love with her as selfishness is usually pretty obvious. It was so hard to watch people not caring one bit about Geronimo. It does seem that everyone just take advantage if you are doing the right thing.
I always raise my eyebrows at the 'I know my wife wouldn't want this/what is best for her.' The problem is that my eyebrows might not have where to rise anymore if Braulio keeps this up. I actually find such men scary because of how trapped and trusting their wives seem. It takes a lot to open their eyes I imagine.
I'm not quite sure why Ana Sofi didn't find someone else after dating Angel for a while. It's not like she can't find someone who is both as rich and as annoying as she is. What do those two even talk about? And Julia apparently is against anything that involves the police. She is somehow the only character who doesn't cause me any strong feelings most of the time. I'm frustrated with her, but there's just something that leaves me feeling a bit indifferent about her. Maybe it's because we barely saw that husband of hers or maybe it's her refrain 'he might be innocent'. Ana Sofi, on the other hand, irritates me a bit too much.

Thanks, Darcy, I appreciate your insight. I enjoy The scenes with Memo and Isabella too. Add in Daniela and you have a nice family. Maybe that will happen at the end. Meanwhile we have to get through things like Karen and Fausto. It sure didn’t make Fausto curious when Karen showed up pretty soon after Daniela left. And what’s she going to do with the video? It would make Daniela divorce Fausto. But does Karen know she’s not the first “other woman”
And has Fausto cooled towards his daughter now that she’s not his biological child?

Ursula makes me cringe, she’s going to be trouble!

Why did Fausto choose Daniela specifically? He can't stand her and it's apparently been like this from the start, so why couldn't he have married Karen? But they really should change the way they write these ievil women. It's another one 'I'm after this man and will get him at any cost'. It's getting old. Karen is the biggest creep I've seen, though. And for all her 'I'm so much better than Daniela' claims, she must have pretty low self-esteem to follow Fausto like a dog and be fine with the scraps he gives her. Fausto's love for his daughter also seems to have switched off after he learnt the truth. What a dispicable guy.
I somehow can't stand scenes with Macario and his wife because I find his behaviour repulsive and just want to slap him.
How old is Lupita? I now think that she will still end up with Juanpa. I could be wrong, but he already gave his brother 'don't hurt this girl' lecture and he barely knows her.
Diana, which actors you've seen being able to connect well with children in telenovelas?

Liz, I also wondered about the video...I can only assume Karen will show it to Daniela at some point. Karen is just despicable, isn't she? I can't remember how Fausto reacted to Isabella after he found out she isn't his. I will have to watch for that, thank you.

Wow, now we have learned that Margarita was a lying liar who lied . I was confused about something . They talked about the owner of Margarita's apartment. Are the apartments in this building actually what we in the U.S. call condominiums (apartments that you own )? So , Max owns the apartment he lives in and Esters? Jero will probably only be able to buy Margarita's apartment if he sells his house.Lenar and the boys can isgo live in her lover's hotel. Is she stupid thinking Jero should just move out and let her lover move in?

Does Celeste finally realize that Cuca is gone and Rayo is alone? Come on , Celeste , you want to be a mother , and Rayo needs mother. Despierta!!!

I agree that Memo and Isabella a!ready have a sweet chemistry, a call of the blood, for sure .Gabe Soto is doing a good job of playing a good, down to earth everyman.

Alberto ( Macario) is so talented that he can play many different shades of smarmy evil .He is very different from the role he played in Desalmada, as lackey to Big Bad.I dont think Ive ever see him with his head shaven.I also think he looks bigger and more pumped up.I think Ampara will end up with her admirer. ...an upgrade.

Diana,I agree that some galans are great at relating to the young actors. One of the best was TBLMOE .

SpanProf, I think you are being a little harsh with the good doctor. Consider that when Andrea told Katya that el doctor Ramón had been called, she said he was a really good guy and had helped her in the past. And, of course, he went along this time with Katya's 'losing the baby'.
Also, some Spanish equivalents to our English slang are hilarious while oftentimes on point accurate. A "quack" or "quack doctor" in Spanish is un "matasanos", one who kills the healthy. I laughed and laughed when I first learned that one. You probably know a lot of these.

Anyway, better el buen doctor Ramón make a living writing prescriptions for placebos and covering up embarrassing family secrets rather than harming real patients   :-)

Diana, thanks once again, you are the great "organizer" for our tiny patio. Your recaps are a great help in organizing our thoughts about episodes and very often provide a springboard for discussions.
About holidays and family: I speak with my sister at least once a week, usually. Holidays are different. Aside from my being a bit of a grinch, holidays are not a good time to catch up. She is busy, and there are often other people, some of whom I like and others..., all taking up time and distracting us.

Jan, I'm glad you're still with us. Diana and I both love learning Spanish vocabulary when we can, and your other comments are also enjoyable!

Back to the telenovela: it looks like the credits were not trying to fool us, that Rodrigo and Katya are going to get together. I hope he is up to it, Katya can be a 'bit' obsessive.

Susanlynn, I’ve seen the first week or so. I couldn’t keep up with three telenovelas at the same time. but I’m recording them to watch eventually. I think the husband, or ex looks strange. His face almost looks plastic. And she has a hard look about her. So I haven’t gotten attached to any characters yet!

Liz, yes, it is a very weird show but oddly fascinating . I gave up on it, but I recorded the Friday episode . The lead actress seems to have a lot of guys in love with her. She just remarried the ex hub who looks like a deer caught in the headligbts. I have seen him in other shows where he was better. I love the actor playing the priest . He has played many roles , as a good or bad guy. A guy died . I don't know who he was , but a poor guys seems to have inherited money from him. I don't understand the dialogue so I just go by the visual.

Waterlily, the folks here at caray used to refer to Fernando Colunga as TBLMOE...the best looking man on earth .

Oh no , Diana, I think you insulted Elle Woods by comparing her to Ana Sofí! 🤣 Talk about vapid. She knew that he was going out of town when she scheduled the engagement shindig. I wonder how daddy dearest will take that his future son-in-law couldn't make it to his own engagement shindig to his beloved daughter. Next topic. You know, maybe Jero wasn't the best father in everyone's eyes but he did what he thought was best for his family and they profited financially from his breaking his back as he always says. Lenar was complicit in the arrangement and now wants to have her cake and eat it too. Why should he walk away from the marriage with nothing? I thought that selling the house and splitting the profit was a fair thing to do.The kids should have no right to say as to what their inheritance might be some day. That always annoys me. It is as if they are looking ahead toothier parents' death.

Liz, I, also, was happy that Ester made the call foiling Claudia's plans. The question now is: Has Claudia given up getting Ester out of the apartment? Could Jero move in with Ester to share expenses or might she move in with him in Margarita's apartment? It would be a great way to save money. Braulio is an odd duck in this one. On one hand, he seems like a great husband; but on the other hand, like with Rayo, he seems like a real jerk.

waterlily, I, too, find the Ana Sofi/Angel pairing strange in that he is clearly not as rich or from the same social class as she and those things are of upmost importance to her. Maybe it is all about the "chemistry." Both should know better at their ages. Lenar is aggravating to me because she was never honest with Jero and just let him keep sending those checks as Donato was romancing her. Talk about being a hypocrite.

susanlynn, your bet is as good as mine when it comes to the "apartments". It does seem like a condo situation where some inhabited by the owners and others are being rented out by the owners. Flavia seems to be manager of some sort at least for the Margarita apartment. Maybe she manages more. Yes, Max owns two apartments. Margarita's apartment seems to be up for rent. She was renting it. It seems that Celeste realizes that Rayo is somewhere. Now, will she be able to help her with Braulio in the picture???

It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out. The deserving, the somewhat deserving and the totally undeserving. That said, with few exceptions, most of the characters are very endearing and should have happy endings.

Susanlynn, a deer caught in the headlights is a good description of the husband in La Madrastra. I thought he looked like a Ken doll. Maybe too much Botox! I like the priest. Glad he survived La Herencia, where he wasn’t a priest but had the same personality!!

Sorry I'm so late in getting back. Darcy, I didn't thank you in my first response to your minicap...so THANK YOU!! Reading your 'caps always makes me smile...sometimes chuckle or even gets a belly laugh out of me...you have quite a talent!

Among so many others, I laughed at: Too bad she also got a glimpse of Ursula greeting her man with a full frontal assault (ie. marking my territory in an unmistakable way) kiss!!! And Diana, I'm not sure about the jealousy, but even I would have had that reaction if I saw a woman dressed like that jumping on someone I had recently met :-)

Like Diana, I loved your description of Isabella as "a small pint size wall." The little girl has already won my heart. I'm a bit distracted with her beautiful hair...sometimes it doesn't have as much fluff and curl as other times (and it's supoosed to be the same scene). Trivial, I know, but just one of those things that distracts me LOL

How has Daniela put up with frigid-at-his-convenience Farce-to for as long as she has. It's obvious that she yearns to "rekindle" their romance and I ask "Whyyy?" And yes, Daniela is getting a good taste of what a good husband should be, Darcy!

Liz, " And what’s she going to do with the video? " good question!" Maybe she'll try blackmailing Farse-to into spending more time with her???

Waterlily, you pose another good question: "Why did Fausto choose Daniela specifically?" I am really curious too...could this have been an "arranged" marriage? And I can't stand Macario either! Alberto Estrella always tends to make me feel that way about his "bad" characters; he plays evil and disgusting really well!

Susanlynn, "I think Amparo will end up with her admirer. ...an upgrade." I thought the same thing...that would be a gigantic upgrade!! So far, Eugenio has been shown to be caring and attentive...a good guy; I hope he doesn't have a dark side!

Darcy, "Sebastian sure does seem taken with Lupita so maybe we'll get the whole 'the good girl causes the wild bad boy to change his ways' story." I would not doubt it! And maybe JuanPa will be the good guy that causes the ditsy Gaby to settle down???

Color me disappointed in Margarita and Claudia. Jeez, where is the honesty? I can get withholding info that might hurt another, but these two willfully schemed to deceive.

Ester is right to send Claudia packing, but she sure could use support right now. Jero, hurry up and move in that apartment.

Maybe there's hope that Rayo will be a better influence on Mati than the reverse. Those two hiding under the table was touching.

Late to the party, but I wanted to thank Darcy for her recap and funny interpretation of the triangle that is about to form between Ursula, Memo and Daniela.

I'd guess that Fausto was expected to marry a "respectable" woman and Daniela probably fit the bill. Maybe his father liked her and told him to settled down or else. Or maybe Fausto actually liked her at one point, but then he got bored, they were having a hard time having a child together, he grew resentful because that meant that he couldn't have his precious inheritance... We don't know how long ago Karen came into the picture, but I'd guess it was after Isabella was born.
 

Mexicana #117 Part 1

Scenes are combined and may not be in order. This show continues to surprise and veer off into unexpected territory. Chabela comes running in - the police are here! Sofia called them and is holding Melody tightly against her will as she desperately calls out for her father! Before he is put in the cruiser, Mario puts his hand on his heart and assures her it will be all right. Melody runs to the window and puts her hands on the glass. Alas, the car takes off.

Rodrigo gives Luis some malarky about being in the “international security business.” They talk a bit in front of Luis and Marcia’s wedding picture, but he does call Marcia his ex. Lots of silliness but I’m a huge Luis fan.

Where is my brother going Tyler asks, confused. Tyler comforts Gladys. Andrea hugs her (purely for show I say!). Tyler is going to try and spring Mario, Gonzalo offering to go with him, but he says no.

Looks like Lolita is leavin’. Ignacio is taking her to the airport. Sebastian tells her he loves her; she responds in kind. When she leaves, he looks tormented.

Back home, Melody is having none of Sofia. She drops her glass of juice on the floor. She calls her mentirosa and tells her she hates her. It’s all her fault! I have to say, the kid is right.

Marcia comforts Gladys. Katya and Vilyeri discuss the situation, Katya feels for Gladys. In jail, Mario is let out just as Tyler is going to talk to the receptionist. Mario vents his frustration to Tyler and thanks him. Andrea runs up to distract him. Sofia’s drinking intensifies and Melody shuts herself in her room with another “I hate you!” Gladys and Mario reunite but Andrea interrupts their reunion – she is furious and reads them the riot act and isn’t interested in their defending themselves.

Mexicana #117 Part 2

Vanessa talks with Ignacio. Do you recognize this she asks showing him a picture of Malacara. He thinks and seems to recall something and whatever it was, Vanessa recalls something Malacara said when they met and she seems very impressed.

I think Vilyeri (along with Chabela) is trying to talk Katya into telling Diego, who has just arrived, the truth. Katya (who doesn’t spontaneously combust) kneel down in church (what a beautiful altar). Diego says a prayer as tears fall down his face. I think Katya FINALLY gets it. Diego, she says, I will tell you the truth. With her head in her hands, she asks him to forgive her. She was never pregnant! Meanwhile Seb has his phone out looking shocked as Paulina came in. He is beside himself (did he just find out Katya lost the baby?). Back to Katya and Diego, she admits she did it out of vengeance. And lo and behold he actually hugs her! What a forgiving man.

Erika sees a lit Sofia and tries fruitlessly to talk rationally to her. She warns her she will lose custody.

Sebastian goes to see Diego and the two hug. Katya tells Chabela and Vilyeri she told Diego the truth. Sebastian wants another opportunity. Tyler and Rodrigo talk. I think Rodrigo says Luis is peculiar? (How dare he?) He shows Tyler Luis and Glady’s wedding picture.

Rodrigo hands Tyler the DNA results. Tyler hesitates to open it…Ad we know, Dona Maty is not his mother. Tyler does not seem terribly surprised but is quite sad.

Brandon is in the midst of a competitive match, the small crowd going wild. Helena, Rocio, Boni, Isis, Luis and others are there. The announcer is whipping the crowd into a frenzy as Brandon collapses on the court. Oh my God Helena screams. Brandon is foaming at the mouth and loses consciousness as Helena runs onto the court screaming for her son. And on this sad, unexpected note, we end for today.

Mexicana. Excellent recap, Diana! Diego is an incredibly good person--almost saint-like! I suspect that if Katya hadn't told him the truth he would have mourned for his "lost child" for the rest of his like. And then he forgives Katya! I'm glad Sebastian finally acknowledges what a selfish jerk he was. I suspect that Sofi called the police to retract her order of protection and have Mario released because any lawyer halfway worth his salt would see that she would lose custody for her drinking and irrational behavior. And what is wrong with Brandon? It looks almost like an epileptic seizure? Also, now we know why the writers kept having Malacara say "Sho, sho, sho." It makes it easy for others to identify him.

Ahhh, "Sho, sho, sho"...I couldn't quite make that out so thank you for explaining Malacarea's little "speech".

I felt so badly for Helena. I will never ask what else will go wrong for her. I've learned my lesson!

Brandon's seizure was a real shocker! What a way to keep us on the edge of our seats...

Slowly but surely Tyler is learning who is a crook (Andrea), and who is probably not, like Mario. Sofía threw it in his face that this 'absurd fantasy' was causing real problems. Tyler is certainly not the sharpest tack in the box, but he is slowly getting at the truth, and now wondering about this "fantasy". It was a real heartbreaker for him to learn that his beloved Mami was not even remotely related.

Detective Vanessa is also doing her part, and linking Malacara to the helicopter incident with his "Sho, sho, sho" was great. I know she'll keep digging and eventually find out that Gonzalo had borrowed money from Malacara at one point.

Diego truly is a good guy! And he deserves better than Sebastián. I don't usually care much who gay men pair up with, or if they do, but in this case it's hard not to. Sebastián will either have to see the light and start acting like a human being or he should find someone else and not make poor Diego crazy.
But do the writers ever listen to me?

Midway through this novela I started worrying about how it would end, and didn't especially want it to end, but we are almost there now and I'm braced and ready for whatever comes.
I think it will be good.
