All Sebas’s loved ones and the doctor are now gathered in his room. Eugenio leans over close to Sebas telling him that parents are supposed to die before their children, but he knows Sebas will be better by his mother’s side. This is not a goodbye because Eugenio is sure that they will find each other again. After Eugenio kisses his forehead and tells Sebas that he loves him, the doctor walks to the other side of the bed. Everyone is in tears and Lupita sobs as the doctor carefully disconnects the respirator. Sebas flatlines! And everyone sobs…
Mac tells Memo that Fausto wants to see Memo dead and three meters under…because it’s not the first time he has tried to kill him. After Mac recounts how Fausto hired Cesar to kill him, he pleads that Memo has to believe him…they forced him to hire the goons who took him so Ursula could kidnap him (and what about all those strikes to Memo’s stomach???) Mac then tells Memo that Fausto was responsible for Gaby being in prison, he ordered Ursula to cut the brakes on Dani’s van. Memo grabs Mac and orders him to tell where that sorry excuse of a man is!!
Everyone is still crying in Sebas’s room. The doctor is checking Sebas’s pupils and Lupita sits by the bedside…when the monitor BEEPS!! But when it stops, the doctor explains that is something that tends to happen. Everyone waits in anticipation and when Sebas squeezes Lupita’s hand, she jumps up! Sebas lifts his arm and his heart starts beating again as he open his eyes!!! Eugenio yells, “Mi hijo!!” as he runs to hug Sebas! When Lupita yells out his name, he turns to her. She kneels beside him crying that he came back; and Sebas looks at her as she strokes his hair.
Fausto is in his hideout cursing Daniela, Isabela and Memo. After he remarks that he won’t lose everything and can still seek revenge, Memo comes charging in (no cape?? Drats!!)! Memo scowls that they will settle things once and for all!
At the restaurant, he family is playing chalupa...
Back at the hideout, Memo sneers that Fausto is finished! Everyone knows the trash he is—a thief, a swindler, a murderer! Fausto speed that the only trash there is Memo; Ursula should have gotten rid of him. Memo retorts that Ursula ended up badly. When Fausto taunts that he and Ursula would plan their vengeance in bed; she would tell him how she would poison his son more…and more. Memo finally has had it and grabs Fausto by his jacket spitting that he is a damned coward!! Fausto pushes him away hard threatening that he will kill Memo with his own hands!
Eugenio et al are now gathered in Eugenio’s study. Lupita gives thanks to the Virgin, Amparo thinks this is a miracle and Eugenio appreciates that God did not abandon his son. JP comments that it wasn’t Sebas’s time and Gaby adds that Sebas returned to make his family smile and to make Lupita the happiest. The doctor strolls in and and tells the family that, surprisingly, Sebas’s vitals are stable! After he confirms that a Sebas will have to be taken to the hospital for tests, he smiles that Sebas does nothing but ask for his novia. Lupita smiles wide as she runs to see her novio!
At the hideout, Memo growls that Fausto is going to pay for having wanted to kill Daniela (and all the others??); she is not alone, she has him! Fausto has no regrets! When he adds that the one he should have killed is Memo’s little bastard, Memo gives him a good strong right hook. As Fausto gets up cleaning off some blood (yes, he actually bleeds! Did he lose a fang?), Memo wonders how he was capable of using Isa who loved him so much. Fausto retorts that he only did it for money; he never cared for that bastard! Memo continues to reproach him for ruining Olivia; and when Fausto calls Olivia a dirty social climber, Memo tries to punch him again. It misses! Fausto jabs him hard in the stomach, pushes him against the wall and starts to choke Memo spewing that he won’t stop until he sees Daniela dead! Fausto continues to choke Memo hoping that he dies until Memo knees sending him to his knees. They get into an all out brawl until Memo pins Fausto down and bashes his face while he hears the sirens and tells Fausto that the cops are coming for him. Fausto tries to smirk as he retorts that they won’t catch him. When Memo tells him that they will arrest him and throw him in prison, Fausto growls that prison won’t stop him; as long as he lives, Memo and Dani will never be happy! Fausto then snarls, “Kill me!” But Memo tells him he isn’t a murderer like he is. The cops then enter, grab Fausto and take him away.
Oh wow, Sebas is sitting up, but has some labored breathing. He tells Lupita that the doctor told him they had been in an accident. She confirms it and adds that he should be remembering everything soon. Sebas tells Lupita that the doctor also told him he has been in a coma for several months. Again, Lupita confirms; they thought he would never wake up, they were very worried….and praying for him. Sebas promises that he will never leave her alone again—his manual has only one rule: keep you word! They will marry and grow old together. Lupita smiles as Sebas professes his love…and kisses her.
Mac is eavesdropping as Amparo tells her father that she made her decision; she can't hold on to resentments, one deserves forgiveness and a bit of help. Mac walks in (as humbly as he can possibly pretend) and tells Amparo and Humberto that he comes with his heart (which is nothing!) in his hands and begging for another chance. He has realized that all he wants is in this house, a marvelous family, beautiful children and most of all, an extraordinary woman…his pretty Amparito. He is very regretful for all the stupid things he did. He then addresses Humberto, as head of the family, and promises to change, to work from sun up to sun down to provide for his children and be a better husband and father. (Would be funny if Amparo puked on him after all this BS LOL). After he pleads that they forgive him, Amparo tells him that, before, she had blinders on and would have believed anything just to have her family together; she would refuse to see the truth. He betrayed her, his children, and he killed all the love that once united them and the affection their children had for him. Max manages to shed some tears saying it really hurts him to hear her say that (do we care?). Amparo tells him that she forgives him, and after she pauses, she tells him it's best he leave and never return! (woohoo, Amparo!!). Mac is confused since he just heard her say that she would forgive him and give another chance; so Amparo clarifies that she wasn't talking about him! In strolls Yolanda from behind Amparo saying that a man who feels nothing about his daughter's death doesn't deserve forgiveness, although she wouldn't be surprised if Amparo does forgive him because she is a great woman. Amparo remarks that she will support Yolanda...who will be working there at the truck stop (giving the trucker's manicures and pedicures??).
Humberto warns Mac not to step foot there again, if he does, Humberto will call the cops and report him for being Fausto's (and Ursula's) accomplice! When Yo tells him that it shouldn't be anything new since he had been locked up for fraud, Amparo looks surprised. With a tear-stained face, Mac reminds them that he told Memo where he could find Fausto and gets on his knees to beg that they don't throw him out. Amparo looks at him pitifully as he vows to change, but Humberto grabs and pulls him up growling that he shouldn't humiliate himself anymore...and hit the road! Mac drops the pity-me mask, fixes his jacket with chin up and leaves, slamming the door behind him.
Mac goes to see Chema and asks if he isn't going to say hello to him. Mac claims he missed him very much. He then tells Chema that his grandfather and mother don't want to see him again; and that's why, if Chema talks to them, he can convince them to give him a job and they can be together. When Chema cries that Mavc is a liar, he saw him kissing another woman and he doesn't love them any more, Mac tries to convince him otherwise but Humberto interrupts and tells Humberto to leave. Mac asks for a hug from Chema, but Meno only cries and refuses.
Memo is now back at the restaurant hugging Dani and assuring her that Fausto has been arrested and will spend a long time in prison, so she and their daughter can relax. Dani wants reassurance that the nightmare is over, and Memo provides that looking hopeful; all they need now to be a family is to get married…and for Isa to have his last name. He then steps back, and Dani gasps as he gets on one knee, puts his hand over his heart and asks her to be his wife! Da I shakes with happiness, stands him up and says, “Of course!” That’s what she has been asking God for—that they can enjoy their children…that they be a united and happy family…that they both deserve. They look at their interlocking fingers and smile as they both say, “Yes!” I love yous and kisses ensue.
There is a passage of time during which--
* Leo is present in the delivery room as Chuchita has their baby boy.
* Memo gets his degree--in what? we never knew!
* Amparo and Eugenio continue cooking in their cute chef scarves.
* Mac carries his box of belongings as he walks on the railroad looking worn, dirty and tired. He hears the whistle of an oncoming train, stops and wipes the perspiration off of his forehead and puts the box down. He looks straight at the train, steps firmly with one foot inside and one foot outside the rail. He takes a coin out of his pocket, he looks dead straight at the train that is getting critically close, and in one last attempt to gamble (his life), flips the coin high!! (Guess he lost huh? but we'll never know because we didn't see the smooshed body.)
* Family and friends watch as JuanP participates in the Special Olympics swimming contest...and wins the gold medal!! and of course Gaby goes up and they kiss.
* Lola and Humberto take Chema and Isa to a park... and they kiss while the children go play.
* Chuchita opens her store and asks Dani to be her "madrina." (("Madrina" can mean godmother, but in this case it means "witness."
*Fausto is cleaning and mopping the filthy restroom at the prison when four handsomely (not!) mean inmates come and push him down, ordering him to clean their shoes. The bigger one tells him to clean his boot; and Fausto does so, but baldie wants him to use his tongue!! One of the others holds Fausto down as he sticks out his very wide tongue and licks the boot! They all laugh telling him what a good pet he is. They then put a rope around his neck and order him to bark; and when he doesn't, they punch and kick him until the idiot gets fed up and tries to fight back...only to be stabbed in the gut and left to die on the bathroom floor. The guards finally come in as mice run around a very dead Fausto (It was expecting the the mice to dance and sing, “Ding-ding, the wicked a$$ is dead…”)
* On a dark, foggy night, a charred-faced, white haired (or rather strands of white hair) Ursula, who is wearing her soot-stained torn wedding dress, walks along the highway calling out for MEMO! She steps onto the road where a truck honks warning her to get out of the way...it gets inches from her...but Ursula once again escapes death. She stumbles over to a tree, crying her (non)heart out.
* Memo and Dani take the kids horse back riding.
Six months later--
Family and friends are sitting in church, smiling as they wait for the much anticipated wedding ceremony. Isabela and Chema walk down the aisle throwing white rose petals on the floor as they walk down the aisle toward a mighty fine looking Memo who is sporting a very nice gray tux with black lapels...and awaiting his bride. As the wedding march plays, Dani who is wearing a simply beautiful sleeveless V-neck wedding dress, is led down the aisle by her brother who is walking on his own. Everyone claps as she reaches the altar and stands facing her beloved Memo who stares happily into her eyes. The priest asks everyone to sit down and starts the wedding vows. Memo and Dani very willingly accept each other one and a million times and till death parts them.
The priest recites the bible passage of "Love is.." (1 Corinthians 13:4-8) as Dani and Memo exchange rings that Eugenio and Amparo handed them, Leo and Chuchita give them the arras, and Humberto and Lola place the lasso on them. The priest then declares them man and wife and they KISS! Isabela comes up and exclaims that that are finally a family!! Memo picks her up to carry her and Amparo brings Martín to Dani. Isabela adds that they will be very happy forever! When they turn, family and friends clap and cheer!
Next we hear 50’s music playing (I was expecting to see poodle skirts and sneakers :-) while we see an over view of the truck stop that has been decorated for the reception. Memo and Dani are in the middle of the dance floor swinging to the music as other couples dancing to the 50s music being played by a “conjunto” (Mexican band). Chuchita asks Leo if he isn’t going up to sing. No, he’s not because his happiness is right there with Chuchita and his son. As they kiss, Chema and Isa tease them.
At another table, Gaby expresses how proud she is of JP, but he is the ine who is proud of his novia who is focusing so much on her studies…and is her personal therapist. They talk about winning is not just getting a medal, but an attitude of life…if you know who you are, you will find your path. As they kiss, Chema and Isa tease them too. Isa exclaims that love defeated the baddies! And now Isa has a new name—Isabela SANTOS Gallardo!
Lola and Humberto are dancing away. Lola thanks him for making her feel loved and giving her a family. Humberto points out that love is sharing; he hopes this happiness will continue…and he will love her till the last moment of his life.
On the other side of the dance floor, Eugenio likes to see Amparo how she is now…complete. Amparo smiles as she looks at Lupita and Sebas who are also dancing. She remarks that there is no greater happiness than to see their children in love…and their families together.
The music stops and everyone sits down. As they stand in front of the stage, a nervous Sebas tells Lupita to trust him. He calls everyone‘s attention; he wants to say a few words. “Familia Santos, I am here to ask with the most supreme respect…for Lupita’s hand. And I want to ask with the deepest respect, for your blessing so we can marry.” Everyone claps and cheers! Amparo yells {of course I give you my daughter’s hand! Humberto adds that he will be glad to accept him as his grandson and of course they have his blessing! After everyone chants “BESO!” Lupita and Sebas oblige and KISS telling each other “I love you!”
The band leader then asks the novios to come to the dance floor so all can dance to the music of the group “Palomo.” The theme song plays as Memo and Dani dance, then they invite everyone to dance. The family then surrounds the novios, place their hands to the middle and shout “Eyyyy, SANTOS!!”
Memo and Dani are sightseeing at a beautifully landscaped park. He picks her up and swirls her around. They then stand on top of his truck. He tells her that she is the love of his life; he traveled a long road to find her. Memo promises that nothing will stop him from making her the happiest woman in the world. She, along with their children, God and the Virgin gave him the best present of all…a family that he promises to lead to truth, good and love. Dani promises to care for and respect him every day of her life. And she will take care of the family she will have with him because she loves him and is completely convinced the her “CAMINO ES AMARTE!” And we end with a long kiss on top of the truck….
FIN!!!!!
The tumultuous ride has ended. I want to thank Diana and Darcy for being so generous with their time and talent. It was a privilege and an honor to be on a team with such gifted writers. And of course a big THANK YOU to all who commented--Urban, Susanlynn, Liz, Montana, Niecie, Steve...and anyone else I may have missed. We were a small patio, but the support, the insights and the camaraderie were enormous and very much appreciated and valued.
I am sure we will "see" each other on another patio...until then, take care, stay safe and healthy, and may there be peace and happiness in your lives.
For now, I await your comments on this FINAL--anvils fell, and we had redemptions and HEAs. Can't wait to see your thoughts and reactions...
Rgv Chick, a brilliant, sparkling beautiful tour de force. Your lyrical words didn’t speak, they sang, allowing us to feel the love and happiness that radiated throughout tonight’s finale. You gave credence to the power of hope and faith as we saw that miracles and happily ever after are indeed possible.
As the machine was unplugged, we teetered on the edge of despair but at the last fleeting seconds, life surged into Sebastian. Seemingly none the less for wear, he and his penguinito are on their way to a lifetime of bliss.
Daniela and Memo have the family they both so desperately wanted. They exchanged vows, she looking lovely in her white dress, gorgeous veil and white sneakers. Isa, surely wearing one of Chuchita’s creations was luminous.
Happiness for Amparo and Eugenio, JP and Gaby, Leo and Chuchita and Humberto and Lola as you related so perfectly in your recap.
Justice for Fausto, Macario and delayed justice for Ursula whose time on this earth has not yet ended. JP noted that “it wasn’t Sebas’s time”. I am a big proponent of that sentiment. Some live and some die. Those that survive do so because of just that reason. Their time will come. Just not now.
You summarized everything so perfectly there is not much to add other than that I really liked the finale. The acting was wonderful, the story (for the most part) well written. You and Darcy have been a joy...The company on this patio has been marvelously supportive and kind. What a journey we’ve all had together.
Finally, proof that love is patient but very, very kind… More tomorrow…
Diana
RGV Chick: Excellent long full-scale recap of tonight's Gran Final. I'll post my thoughts sometime tomorrow!
Steve Boudreaux
Muchas Gracias Rgv Chick, Diana, Urban Anthropologist, and all the rest on the patio that gave beautiful insights to the recaps that those of you that dedicatedly did.
It was a good night of Justice and happy tears for me.
I am sure Ursula is beyond mentally damaged now. Before she could trade on her curves and looks and be insane at the same time, now she is a decrepit she’ll of her former self.
It takes a really good hearted and strong woman like Ampara, to give Yolanda a new start. I hope Yolanda turns out to learn her lesson well and being around the Santos family will be very helpful to her. She is still a young enough woman to try her hand at love again, maybe with a good man who is a widow with a child that she could show love and nurture, as she never did with Grace.
I can only imagine how much of a jerk Fausto was in jail for him to experience the wrath of his own roommate prisoners.
They don’t just kill for no reason.
My guess is he thought and showed them by word and deed that he was above them despite all being jailed, that they were the filth under his feet and I think that’s why they did what they did to him.
Other prisoners go to jail and get college degrees, keep to themselves and leave prison decades later never hurt. Fausto’s haughty ego and his total Narcissistic Elitist mentality with no heart and soul, landed him in jail and killed him because of it.
We got the 1 wedding all novelas are well known for at the end.
Memo looked handsome and Daniela walking down the aisle was like an Angel floating on a cloud. So beautiful and such a stark contrast to the nearly Topless & micro min bondage looking wedding dress Ursula wore with red lips and Memo in that crazy suit. Uggh.
Just tells you a lot about the 2 women.
Night and day.
I wanted to clarify my comment from last night regarding my brother & his coma. Yes, it was 84 days, but when they transferred him to Hospice and disconnected him, he had a breathing tube, but they stopped the feeding tube and the meds, he had pneumonia and a high fever, and when he died 7 days later, it was actually from starvation. So it was not the same as they portrayed Sebastian.
I shared that with you all - only to say that it is a heart wrenching situation to be in and I never want to be in it again - so for me - the Sebas scenes of late were very close to home.
On a better note to say Adios Amigos/Amigas, you are great and intelligent company and I’m so glad I got to meet all of you wonderful people and I’m definitely going to watch another Telenovela— not right away. I need a break.
I’ll be here again when that time comes and hopefully I will have gotten better at my Spanish.
Cariños
Montana
Gracias to the recapping team for this rollercoaster of a novela. You all did excellent work. My hat's off to you!
Most of the writing for this tale was good to excellent although I think drawing out the coma was a bit much. No major fillers; ten years ago this story would have been at least 150 episodes with this number of characters and this number of villains (10!). All the actors did exemplary work. No disappointment about the finale as three main villains bit the dust at the end with a fourth probably doing so within a few weeks after the final curtain.
The wedding was lovely and appropriate and it was a relief to see Fausto finished off as he was. Do prison rest rooms really get that disgusting?
I am somewhat surprised that Memo apparently didn't feel guilt about not rescuing Ursula but after all the things she did no guilt required.
I think Memo may have been at tech school. College graduations are usually larger and in a more formal environment.
The underlying theme of this tale obviously is that money can't buy happiness or love. Also that greed is not good. I do have a few questions:
--- Did Lupita really give up that scholarship? If not I think Sebas would have accompanied her to the US and gotten work. Is that the reason for the time jump?
--- What happened to all the money and company shares that had belonged to Fausto and Karen? Did Eugenio get those back? I see he still has the mansion.
I will probably comment more on this later.
Note to Perdona fans: Due to my schedule this weekend the recaps will be a little later than usual. I have not seen last night's episode yet and I will probably not see tonight's double-header until tomorrow night because I will be at the HD broadcast of Falstaff (Giuseppi Verdi's only comedy). My apologies in advance.
Muchísimas gracias, Rgv Chick. I watched the finale last night, but some scenes were so intense I had to look away at times. You covered it all vividly and I am grateful.
Rgv Chick, Diana, and Darcy, I have enjoyed Camino a lot but honestly I enjoyed your recaps even more. They've been a daily delight and I will miss them. The patio and all the comments gave me new insights and plenty of laughs.
I give the finale a thumbs up. I loved seeing Macario groveling for Amparo and Humberto to take him back and his humiliation that it was Yolanda, not him, that Amparo forgave. Ursula showing up like a macabre scarecrow was a shock. Kudos to those of you who predicted we hadn't seen the last of her! The wedding of Dani and Memo was just what I expected it to be be, perfect. I loved the closing shot of them atop the trailer. And at last, Sebas has a miracle recovery.
Fausto and Karen were so evil and heartless, I knew no punishment would satisfy me. But at least they're no longer around to hurt anyone. I wished Aaron's role had been bigger and that Lola had had another chance to kick some more butt.
Niecie, I could not agree more. Lola was so badass we could have done with another awesome scene of her kicking butt.
A note to Montana that I hope she sees (and other interested parties): Vix.com has lots of great classic novelas going back to the 80s that one can view gratis.. There are comedies and stories that have varying levels of grim and violent content. It includes earlier novelas of some of these actors going back two decades or more and some gorgeous novelas de epoca. Original content and novelas made in the last two or three years will cost something like $7/month.
It also has movies and live channels.
Trivia re Cast of Camino: Ximena Herrera (Karen) and Mark Tacher (Fausto) were married to each other is the grim but gripping novela Mujeres de Negro which we recapped here. That's also free on VIX.
Thanks so much, Rgv Chick, a wonderful recap for the Grand Final. I was so relieved Sebastian had lived. But they really had us losing hope!
These writers(of telenovelas)do know how to have a wedding. All are different but mostly beautiful and fun.
I thought there were 3 letters on Memo’s diploma, that made me think he was getting his GED. I had originally thought he was getting something in horticulture to work with Dani. But Dani hasn’t worked in a long time. I wonder if they will go back to it.
As much as Eugenio wanted to cook with Amparo I picture him running the company with Sebastian. Cooking will be his weekend hobby!
I was glad to see they now seem to be calling the cops when they should. They just need to show up first, but Memo beats them there.
I really thought Mac was going to go to prison for fraud. But also sure he lost that coin toss!
Ursula appearing was a real shock. She needs to be in a mental hospital.
That toilet was disgusting. As were the mice running around Fausto’s body! I would have had to have a double to play my part! If I was ever in a film!!
I thought they did a great job with the ending. The good guys win again! Wish they had announced a pregnancy for Dani! But we can choose what happens next!
Thanks to all who recapped and everyone on the patio that commented. It’s so much more fun to watch these shows together!
Liz
Dear Chickie, thank you for this final ride. You were an excellent driver as we made our way along this long and winding road . As the journey went on , we had to buckle our seatbelts.
I could have done without the scenes of the filthy toilet , literal bootlicking, and rats. I also wish I hadn't seen daranged and now severely damaged Ursula. That will be hard to unsee. I don't like to see anyone suffering . ...even villains.
I was sure Seb was gone , so I was shocked and happy when his eyes suddenly opened . Note that I was wrong about this storyline and Ursula surviving . Well, I warned you That I am always wrong when I make predictions !.
The wedding was lovely . Susana looked elegant and easy , as always. Gabe did a great jib in this show depicting a true galan who protects his loved ones and always puts them first.
I had only seen the actor playing Eugenio in villain roles, but he did an even better job playing a good man.
At the end of the road, in telenovelas as in life , it all comes down to good vs evil. Kindness and gratitude should always win .
As we pull into our parking spot , I am ready for the next adventure . Next !
Thank you Rgv Chick! The finale was great and your recap of it was fantastic!! You captured every triumph as we finally got out happily ever after!
I was surprised Ursa lived but once again thought Sara did a fantastic job walking around more dead than alive screaming out ‘Memo’!! I look forward to seeing her again in the future!
The wedding was beautiful and all the characters looked great. I loved the bridesmaids dresses on Gaby and Lupita! I am happy Sebas lived and that he and Lupita are headed to their own HEA but as a rule I think it’s a no no to propose marriage, ask for someone’s hand, or announce your own engagement at someone else’s wedding! No one seemed to mind though.
Overall I thought Camino was excellent. With so truly outstanding performances and mostly good writing. The finale was satisfying and I so enjoyed the time spent on the patio with all of you!
I was about to post a very long comment with my thanks and responses to your interesting and insightful comments, but once again, my mischievious cat did something and everything was erased! ARGHHHH!
I've run out of time, so I'll try to be back later
How did Ursula survive? I hope someone finds her because it's unsafe for her to wonder the streets like this. What happened to Monica? Why did they just drop that plot line? I mean, am I supposed to think it's OK to invent stuff to become famous?
I was so relieved Sebastian survived. I somehow didn't expect him to say he'd go with her to the U.S. I'm always surprised when men are willing to make this kind of sacrifice. So what happened to that plan? Or did the wedding take place during summer holidays?
We are all thrilled with Rgv Chick's amazing recap. And it seems we all llked the finale! That makes me happy as often, there are elements that sometimes leave us wanting a different outcome. But the villains received their just punishments and that the couples who should be together ended up that way.
We all breathed a sigh of relief when Sebastian opened his eyes, whether or not we expected it.
Urban, I was wondering about Lupita's scholarship as well. I prefer to think she took it and they worked it out, Sebastian accompanying her as you suggested. We won't know definitively about Eugenio's money but I vote that he ended up not losing it.
"I loved seeing Macario groveling for Amparo and Humberto to take him back and his humiliation that it was Yolanda, not him, that Amparo forgave was exactly right and was indeed one of the highlights Niecie. And "Ursula showing up like a macabre scarecrow was a shock" mirrored my thoughts. I keep seeing that vision in my mind. “Sara did a fantastic job walking around more dead than alive screaming out ‘Memo’!!” was spot on Darcy. Her performance excelled as did the other cast members.
Liz, I also was hoping that Dani was going to announce her pregnancy and was holding my breath at the end. It wasn't met to be but she loves her Isa and Martin so much, her heart will be truly happy and fulfilled.
Gabe did a great job in this show depicting a true galan He did Susanlynn! We've had so many flawed galans lately, his turn was most welcome.
Rgv Chick, so sorry you lost your comment – I know your frustration ☹
All of the comments today have been stellar…but that’s par for the course for this incredible group.
Diana
“It takes a really good hearted and strong woman like Ampara, to give Yolanda a new start” is so true Montana! I give her so much credit.
Waterlily, there were so many loose ends to wrap here, a few things fell by the wayside. What happened with Leo’s career in general and Monica in particular is left to our imagination. I think it’s safe to say he will be successful and he certainly is happy with Chuchita and their adorable baby.
Diana
Urban, we are so grateful you are recapping. Please don't apologize; we are happy to see your wonderful summaries whenever you can post them.
Enjoy the opera!
Diana
RGV Chick: Your long detailed recaps were amazing & AWESOME. Now it was beautiful seeing Memo & Daniela getting their happily ever after plus the family they've wanted 😊
UA: That nasty disgusting toilet was completely unnecessary. I mean c'mon 🤢
Diana: Ampara (Monika Sanchez) was amazing throughout this Telenovela. Now what did Gaby go to prison for ?
Darcy: It was rejoicing seeing Karen, Fausto & Mac getting killed off. I'm assuming Ursula likely died off-screen.
Waterlily: The actress who portrayed Lupita looks familiar. Wasn't she recently on "Herencia" ?
Steve Boudreaux
Steve, Gaby went to prison for causing the accident. But, she wasn't negligent, the brakes didn't work because the brake lines were cut by Ursula...When that was (finally) discovered, she was set free.
And yes, Monika was excellent!!

Fuentes visited Armando in hospital and told him “a deal is a deal”. Armando said “I will talk to her; trust me.” “Of course I trust you,” he replied. “I don't play games. Besides, you must have other secrets you guard.” He told him about Irene's visit to the station and her filing a missing persons report. Armando claimed surprise as he said that Estela had “mental health issues” and he had put her in a psychiatric hospital that she later escaped from. Fuentes asked him why he didn't see fit to report it and Armando said “That was my decision, not yours.” [A lame answer which makes it obvious that he didn't care.] Fuentes told him he was mistaken because now that there is an official report it is very much his business. “I don't want any more surprises like Olmos' corpse in the river.” “Don't waste your time. Better think about your Caribbean vacation and the night you will spend with Angela.” “All in its own time, right? Good night.” He left. Armando looked like he had to think of a next step.
Irene brought Padre Reynaldo to Estela's hotel room and left them alone to talk. She did not remember seeing him at the cuckoo's nest but then told him everything. How she had found Armando in bed with Angela and the shock caused the car accident and how she was almost immediately locked up in the cuckoo's nest. This was Armando's pretext for locking her up in there but the real motive was to silence her. She ware grateful to Hector for his help because she couldn't walk. The padre promised his silence and his help. He could not understand her marrying a man who would treat her this way and cheat on her with someone like Angela. She told him it wasn't always that way. When he had arrived in San Juan he was easy-going and straightforward with a good sense of humor and was a good worker. Good with people, etc., all of this had impressed Estela's father. He didn't get this way until some time after they were married and he got control over her fortune. She feared for her children. “See how he treated Elsa!” The padre agreed that this has taken over vs the love he should feel for them. Estela worried about him being alone with the children. She asked the padre to try to be closer to them. He agreed. She thanked him as he was a regular visitor, Irene was almost a stranger, and Elena doesn't want her around. She felt more at peace for talking to him. He said to count on her.
That peace was unlikely to last much longer as Armando went through the bag that held the clothes he was wearing upon admission. The nurse came in just as he had found his trousers and he said he was looking for his watch. She said she would get a relative to take care of his things but he said that was not necessary. She left him alone and he put on his trousers. She came back a few seconds later [Maybe she had previous patients who tried to escape?] and asked why he was dressing. He told her he was going home because he could not sleep there. She told him very plainly that he could not leave until his doctor released him. He tried to say that his doctor was alright with this. He tried to hand her money but she said “Keep your money; you can't make me break the rules.” She waved a signal to the orderlies in the corridor. He apologized but could not convince her to let him leave. She told him he was an irresponsible patient who is in because he had a heart attack. When the orderlies came in she told them to put this patient back to bed as he had just tried to escape. They flanked the bed and he got back into it. The nurse took the bag holding his clothes and told him they would b returned to him when he was released. She requested that he remove his trousers. He complied, probably in the knowledge that he wouldn't be left alone if he didn't.

Part 2 of 5
Of course Elena lied to the younger kids, saying that their father would be in hospital for a couple of days and that it was nothing serious. She was obviously irritated at their perfectly normal questions.
After the nurse left his immediate vicinity Armando sneaked out and went down to the locker room area.
Estela and Irene talked about the former's meeting with Padre Reynaldo. Estela told her it went well and that “he, you, Silvia, and Hector are my guardian angels.” Irene echoed that they all were fighting Armando.
Who at that moment just managed to steal a dark blue uniform and tried to leave the hospital as though he were a surgeon getting off the night shift. He ran into a security guard requesting his ID so he could be checked out. He gave another lame excuse that he had accidentally left it at home and the guard said “No problem.” However, when he went to the exit door he could not get it open because without its security code. The guard – who was watching him – asked for his name. He looked at the list on the screen and said “Ricardo Miranda.” Of course there was nobody on the list with that name and Armando was detained when he tried to get to the hospital cafeteria to escape. The security guard requested help to prevent a patient from escaping. [Aha; foiled again!]
Clemencia barged into her daughter's room to force her out of bed and on to work. Elsa aid it was early but Clemencia made it clear that ranch work begins early. Further she forcefully said that pregnant women work at least up to the eighth month. When Elsa said she was willing to but knew nothing about working on a ranch Clemencia said her father ordered her to discipline her and that she will do. Elsa sarcastically said she agreed. Clemencia stepped out of the room and Elsa tried to get Nora to get up. Clemencia returned with a basin of cold water which she splashed onto Nora, with some spilling on the pillow and the mattress. Nora got up and called her mother a savage! Elsa was shocked. Clemencia ordered her out and followed her. Nora sat in bed in shock.
Carlos woke up to find Aurora missing. He called her on the phone and she was at the airport with her suitcase. She told him “There is nothing for me to do here” and ended the call saying her flight was being called.
Gerardo asked Elena how Dr Leonidas could record that her father was there for stress. Elena aid she was told this had nothing to do with the heart. Gerardo said this was barbaric, saying “You yourself saw he was gasping for air, the chest pain, and the arm immobility. Anyone could see this is more than a heart attack. This was irresponsible of Leonidas.” “I don't want to worry that my father is in danger from a bad diagnosis.” “Of course. Your father went into the hospital on a stretcher. This is very serious.” “Please I'm asking you to get all the necessary tests done at the hospital. Why doesn't Dr Leonidas think the same way as you?” “I don't like this but I don't think your father authorized all those tests that are needed. He doesn't value my opinion.” “I will ask him to see this. I have to calm down.” “Very well. After you talk I hope he will do this.” [Probably when hell freezes over.]

Part 3 of 5
Flor told Elsa that Nora was their only chance to get a message to anyone in San Juan. Flor said something about sending a message to Armando but Elsa said that since her father sent them there the objective was to make them suffer. Elsa was grateful that Flor came with her but suggested that she escape. Flor refused to leave her alone with that bruja of an aunt who was coming out of the stables behind them. Clemencia told Elsa she was coming with them and yelled at Ivan to bring her a horse. Elsa told her she had no previous riding experience and besides, she was pregnant. Clemencia dismissed this as being only in stories “I rode almost until I was in labor,” Flor replied that “You were used to this. Elsa could get hurt. If you want her to mount a horse – ” Clemencia threw her weight around as usual saying she was not to interfere. Elsa stepped in between Flor and Clemencia's riding crop and shouted not to touch her. “She was only taking care of me, that's all.” Flor added “Her father sent me to take care of her. It's his orders for me to take care of her here. In no way will I permit anyone to lay hands on her.” Clemencia threatened to get her sent back to San Juan. Elsa quietly told Flor to back off; she could put up with her aunt. Flor walked away from this and Nora stepped forward to take care of this situation by saying she and Elsa will walk to their destination. Clemencia looked at them with an expression of pure hatred.
The padre went to the Quiroga house where he saw that the kids were disinformed about their father's condition. They told him that they had been searching for their mother. They asked if he could help and he said he could. They all went out, Domingo still on his crutches.
Angela was sitting in the kitchen with a glass of water. She asked Rocio to make her some coffee and Rocio told her that Aurora was in the living room. Angela went straight to her and Aurora told her that she and Carlos had a fight about him flirting with an old girlfriend. “On my honeymoon! Imagine that!” When she finished Angela gave her a version of “I told you so.” which she finished with “You are in love with Horacio.” Aurora evaded that which led to more of the “I know you” stuff from Angela which ended with “You aren't here because you had a fight with Carlos. You came here as an excuse to end your marriage.” Aurora's expression without an immediate verbal response meant that Angela had hit home.
Elena and Gerardo visited Armando. She revealed that they knew about his escape attempt. He lied, saying he was only going to come home to sleep because he couldn't sleep in the hospital with people going in and out of his room all the time and that Leonidas okayed this. Gerardo said he didn't know why Leonidas would say this and that they were there to see to the tests. Elena repeated that they didn't want hi in danger because of a bad diagnosis. Armando said to stop being dramatic because he was alright. He just wanted to be at home. He asked Gerardo to get him discharged. He said he would see about it and left the room. Elena said to him that the only thing they were looking to do was to see to it that he would be alright. “If anything happened it would kill me.” Armando told her that this would not happen. He was too strong for that. [Famous last words.]
As Martin went into a building alone to ask questions Padre Reynaldo stepped away from the others to call Irene. He updated her on what he found out and kept his word about Estela's current condition and whereabouts. The whole idea behind this plan was for all of San Juan to know that Estela was missing. After she ended the call she told Estela about this and that her photo would be all over the town.

Part 4 of 5
Martin had gone into his father's office and persuaded the secretary to allow him to use the printer.
Carlos returned in a cab and encountered Meche. She realized that something was wrong and they hugged.
Elsa and Nora went over to the lake on the edge of the property. Nora told her that it was her favorite place; she would go there to get away from her mother. Elsa told Nora that she and Andres would go to the lake near their town to avoid being seen by others. They talked about the lack of a cell phone signal in this area [Really, or was that only what Clemencia wanted Nora to think?] Elsa asked for help in getting a message to San Juan and Nora finally said she had friends whom she could trust. A male voice called to her and she grinned.
Martin thanked the secretary as he held flyers about Estela's disappearance. She told him to send her greetings to his father and the wish he would get well soon. Martin left but not before Renzo recognized him. The secretary told him that Armando was in hospital and Renzo called him immediately. Armando expressed his frustration at not being able to just get up and leave : “I'm fine but these quacks won't let me leave. When you get out of work we'll talk about something else.”
“Alright, boss. Should I bring you anything?” “No, only what I ask. Till I see you.”
Andres was in the San Miguel prison yard and being sized up as prey. Just as his cellmate was about to start something a correctional officer called Andres' name and told him he had visitors. He entered the visiting room – which at least was clean – to find his parents. When Silvia hugged him a guard said “No contact” and she took her seat. He sat down and told them he hadn't had any problems yet. Lamberto carefully slipped him some survival cash. Andres was worried about losing his job in Mexico City. Silvia said she would call his boss and explain. Lamberto told him the lay of the land regarding the false charges and told him to remain calm. Andres told them he wanted to be with Elsa when their baby is born. Lamberto was just hearing this for the first time while Silvia tried not to cry.
Carlos told Meche what happened and Meche told him he needed to talk to Aurora ASAP before this got any worse. Horacio walked in on this but Carlos didn't want to talk. Meche got Horacio out of the room.
Andres explained the fallout from Armando's knowledge of the situation up to where Elsa was sent. He was arrested the night they were to have escaped. He was determined to get out of the prison. He told Lamberto he would sign the documents accepting his name.
Just as Angela asked Aurora if she wanted to stay married to Carlos the doorbell rang. Angela asked again and Aurora said she didn't know. Same conversation as before, with Angela telling Aurora that a loveless marriage will not make her happy. Rocio told them it was Carlos at the door and Aurora did not want to see him. Angela sent her to her room and confronted Carlos about Aurora coming home in tears. He told her Aurora became jealous when a former friend of his turned up and they had been fighting. He loved Aurora and saw no reason for her jealousy. He was completely sincere [and equally clueless] and said he needed to talk to Aurora but Angela stood Aurora's ground, telling him she was in her room and not wanting to talk to anyone. She finally persuaded him to leave, telling him that Aurora is confused and needed time to think. He said he'd be back the next day.

Part 5 of 5
Aurora had been eavesdropping. She did look confused.
Two guys were running toward Nora, the two she had previously spoken of [Didn't get their names]. She presented Elsa to them and said she needed to send a message to someone. They were happy to help and Elsa gave them Antonia's name and work phone number. [I don't like how the other guy grabbed it from the handsome one].
Irene met up with Padre Reynaldo and the kids. Martin had flyers with Elsa's photo on them. Irene suggested she and Sofie go to the market. The boys stayed with the padre,
Armando's secretary found one that had fallen on the floor in the office. She had never known about this.
Carlos went home to Father, whom Meche had talked to when she got home. When Carlos took a bottle out of the closet Hector told him that drinking solves nothing. No, he had not spoken to Aurora. He began telling the whole story. Horacio said nothing but listened.
Angela tried talking to Aurora, suggesting that she get an annulment. Aurora wasn't read for this decision. The doorbell rang so Angela looked outside the window and saw Horacio. Aurora went down to ask him if Carlos sent him. He told her No, he just left the house after finding out. She told him she did not love Carlos and never could. She had been confused and she blamed him for this. She was confused and didn't want to hurt Carlos or him. He said the same. Finally also that they needed to forget what they feel for each other. They agreed and Angela told Horacio to leave. There were sirens not far away. Angela looked around and ordered Aurora to come back in the house or everyone would see them together. Aurora went inside and Angela basically told Horacio she had his number. She then took out car keys and drove away.
Armando chewed out Leonidas about the release and Leonidas told him that hospitals all have protocols for this. Further, that since Armando's tests show he had a full-blown heart attack nobody would release him. The doctor who could release him will not be back on that morning. He was determined to see that doctor and not be there one more day.
A little later Angela came to see him and he said he was fed up with being there. He told her nothing was wrong but Fuentes dropped in the night before. He had said that if he didn't get his money he would reject her and Aurora's statements. He had tried to escape the night before but can't get the money if he's stuck in hospital. Angela suggested he send Renzo but Armando didn't like that suggestion. Angela then said the only person who could do this was herself. [Okay, slut, how many times did this man say he didn't love you?] Armando said she was not to do this; they needed to prepare for the consequences. “What about my daughter?”
Thanks, Urban! Entertaining episode and a more entertaining recap! Great comment: “Okay, slut, how many times did this man say he didn’t love you?”
Disappointment: Armando recovered way too quickly.
Positive: Andrés taking his father’s name.
Weak: Armando being kept like a prisoner in a hospital. Not going to happen.
Urban, thank you for every detail .
I am happy that Estela has several allies....padre, Hector, Gerardo, Irene, Sylvia .
It is also great to see the young children being proactive in trying to find their mother.
Clemencia is a witch .
Armando, Fuentes, and Angela make up a sordid triangle .
Aurora is a clueless, spoiled brat who has no idea what she wants. Basta.
Urban, thank you for your sharp and savvy recap.
“He was completely sincere (and equally clueless)” is so right! The TN staple of a love triangle is usually a great plot line, just not here. have to admit I don’t care at all for or about Aurora, Carlos or Horacio. Hector is an entirely different matter 😊.
Armando’s not so great escape had me grinning. From the nurse who had his number to his being thwarted by security, he ended up right back at square one. So he had a “full blown heart attack” yet it hasn’t dulled him spewing his vindictive venom.
“If anything happened it would kill me.” Is this to be Elena’s daily lament?
At least Elsa has Flor and Nora. Andres has no one on the inside and the inmate population looks none too friendly.
Diana
"Armando, Fuentes, and Angela make up a sordid triangle". Yes Susanlynn you're right and far more dastardly than the one I mentioned.
Diana
Actually, Armando is not recovering. He had a full-blown heart attack which is very likely caused by the stress of so many lies told to different people about the same things. Not to mention whatever secrets he has. That hospital staff will keep him in that bed by whatever means necessary.
Nobody else seems to know that this is his second one, so this one is worse due to lack of treatment. This is a time bomb waiting to explode. During This episode I was watching Jorge's facial expressions to determine whether Armando is in denial to himself or just lying about his condition to others. I finally decided it was the latter. He knows.
He's rather like a lion (No surprise, as JS is a Leo). He refuses to show weakness to a possible enemy, present or future. Of course it's also about his ego.
If he dies it won't be until the finale. If Elena is still alive by then she will likely suicide because of all her claims that she would die if anything happens to her father. She feels completely lost without him and has not prioritized her marriage. This makes me question Armando's and Estela's parenting of her. He will be furious when he gets out of hospital and finds out that the whole town knows about Estela's "disappearance"
It works for the plot that Armando is stuck at the hospital but in reality patients can refuse treatment and leave so I am still not buying it. Of course, he isn’t “cured” but he has recovered enough to be able to try to get out. He seems to be going for broke which is A-okay with me.
Thanks Urban, you’re doing a great job on these recaps night after night.
When Elsa gave the paper to the two cowhands my only thought was she needed to tell them to burn it after they sent the message. I’m sure Armando is going to find out she sent it.
Susanlynn, I agree, Aurora is a spoiled brat. So different from her brother. Who I will soon be calling a saint, or a fool, if he doesn’t leave his wife.
Great to see everyone helping Estela. The whole town will be surprised to learn she’s missing.
Not sure why Angela is insisting Aurora loves Horacio. But it looks like she’s right.
Armando doesn’t respect his son-in-law. I would have thought he pushed for her to marry a doctor. He seems to prefer that she run his house.
I’m late to the two hour episode so better go. Thank goodness for smart tvs!
Liz
Liz, that's a great point. I'll bet those two guys are wondering whether Antonia is as pretty as Elsa is. Obviously Elsa has never seen Mission Impossible. I do miss that show.
Armando's thoughts about Elena are likely along these lines. This is probably the first time she has challenged him about anything. Elsa does challenge him which would make her a better candidate for running the company when he no longer can. Most people who come up from poverty don't want to see their children marry down, but up. What Armando refuses to see is that Andres is a better version of himself.
Gerardo would be regarded by anyone as a catch: He's a doctor, he's handsome, healthy, considerate of others, ethical, and he has a wealthy father. We have previously speculated on whether the marriage was arranged but it's equally likely that Elena was programmed to marry because "It's the right time and people will talk if you aren't married by the time you're 25." Not a modern attitude, but this is a small town.
We also don't know when Estela's father died, but I suspect it was before Elena was old enough to form any real memories of him. Armando probably changed within a year or two of his father-in-law's death during which time he assumed control over all the money after first taking full control of the family business.
Armando doesn't respect Gerardo because he challenges him about his health. He even argued with Leonidas who tried to explain that hospitals have rules about patients leaving without being properly discharged.
You can't tell Armando things he doesn't want to hear or know. He has painted a beautiful portrait of his life and his family but without thinking of the depths behind what people see. Kind of like a bride who can't tolerate overweight bridesmaids or an ugly flower girl (which is a huge epidemic these days). It's all about the picture people can see. The difference is that this is a life-long thing for Armando, not just a single day or weekend of photos. He is paranoid about someone throwing paint on his creation.
Recaps for the double header may not be posted until tomorrow as I have yet to view the episodes and I will be at the opera this afternoon.
Thanks, Urban. Fine recap.
Aurora is a mess and ITA this triangle is a snooze, but with her coming back early maybe her dad or brother can convince her to recant about Andres.
I don't like that guy snatching the note from the other guy either. Way too anxious. Elsa needs to be careful of him.
Flor is worth her weight in gold staying to watch over Elsa even though Elsa suggested she (Flor) escape.
I enjoyed watching Armando trying to escape, walking around in his hospital gown, and being foiled.
Urban, whenever you have time to do the recaps is more than we can ask for. As Diana previously said, we are grateful to you for writing recaps for this novela.
On my end, we had an evening of almost constant weather reports because of tornado watches/warnings, so I saw very little of either episode. I hope to a watch them sometime this weekend.
I'm going to try this again, hopeofully this time my cat won't delete everything.
My sincere thanks to Diana and Darcy who made this ride so much easier to share with this patio. It was an honor and a privilege to be part of a team with such gifted writers. And those who commented are just as talented in expressing your thoughts, your astute insights and humor. This was a small patio yet the conversations and camaraderie were enormous and greatly appreciated. THANK YOU so much for brightening my days and for being the "motor" that propelled me as I wrote the recaps and the dialogue.
I wasn't sure I would like this TN, but it was surprisingly well written for the most part and the actors' performances were outstanding.
Diana, "As the machine was unplugged, we teetered on the edge of despair but at the last fleeting seconds, life surged into Sebastian. Seemingly none the less for wear, he and his penguinito are on their way to a lifetime of bliss." Beautifully written! I just wish that, as Urban stated, the coma was drawn out a bit too much.
Montana, "It takes a really good hearted and strong woman like Amparo, to give Yolanda a new start." I'm not so sure I would have been as forgiving; and I still wonder what Yolanda, who is a beautician, will do at the reastaurant, is she going to wait on tables? AND "I can only imagine how much of a jerk Fausto was in jail for him to experience the wrath of his own roommate prisoners. They don’t just kill for no reason...Fausto’s haughty ego and his total Narcissistic Elitist mentality with no heart and soul, landed him in jail and killed him." Villains getting killed in prison is pretty much a staple in TNs., but you made a gret point. I'm sure Fausto looked down on the inmates and berated them.
Niecie, "Ursula showing up like a macabre scarecrow was a shock." Yes, it was!! And I have the same question as Waterlily--how did she survive? And who helped her? She had to have gotten some medical treatment.
Liz, "I thought there were 3 letters on Memo’s diploma, that made me think he was getting his GED." What a keen eye you have; you are probably right! AND "I was glad to see they now seem to be calling the cops when they should." It wzs good to see that this finally happened in a TN; though the use of lawyers and the legal system were lacking....everything was off screen...and th investigations were...uhmmm....crappy!
Susanlynn, "I had only seen the actor playing Eugenio in villain roles, but he did an even better job playing a good man." Yes, he did!! I had only seen him as a villain too; his most impressive performances were playing the grieving and disappointed father.
Waterlily, "What happened to Monica?" THey never did say, but given that Leo returned so dedicated to his family, I am hoping that he finally kicked her and Max to the curb.
Steve, "That nasty disgusting toilet was completely unnecessary." Couldn't agree with you more! Mopping of the floors would have been more than enough.
Jarifa, I am glad you are safe!
I don't believe I've ever lived through a tornado warning which much truly be frightening.
My heart goes out to those who have perished and their families. And to those who have lost everything, especially treasured pictures and personal momentos that are irreplaceable.
Diana
Diana, thanks for your kind thoughts. It seems like the weather up here is worse every year. It never used to be like this. Many of us could say the same about the weather where they live I am sure. My heart also goes out to those who lost so much so quickly in the recent tornadoes. What tragedies!
HELLO ONE AND ALL,
Just thought I would peek in; I joined the novela very late.
I looked up CONATO and the definition is an ATTEMPT; my good friend
from Mexico told me that a conato infarto is not a full blown heart attack.
It is a WARNING.
Well, I think that Lamberto, the father of Andres, was
once married to the villainess and now murderess (Angela)?
Not good with all the names yet.
I am gathering that Lamberto was a social conscious snob at one point and
could not marry the mother of Andres, but he seems to be improving.
I am guessing at this.
I recognize many names on CARAY, but I seldom check in.
Glad you are still at it -- As the old Fabulous song says, STILL HAVIN FUN!
Well, we have come to end of the road , and I will miss my traveling companions so much . I hope we will join up again for another telenovela. The outstanding recaps and interesting comments were something that I looked forward to everyday.
Floridia, so great to see your post. It's been a long time!
I hope you are doing well. We are still here and yes, having fun...
Lamberto, Andres' father is actually still married to Angela, although hopefully not for long. Lamberto seems like a good guy. My memory isn't good but I think he may have asked Silvia to marry him and she said no, but I'm not sure.
Wishing you the best and hope you check in again soon.
Diana

Part 1 of 5
Angela finally said she would boink Fuentes rather than go to prison. Armando told her she was very brave. She asked about the money and Armando told her it was in his office safe. She cried and he said he admired here. [She was probably not in a state of mind to ask herself whether he really meant that.]
Irene told Estela about what she and the kids had done. She was aching to see them again. Irene was trying to keep their spirits up,
Renzo visited Armando who said he was fed up and wanting to get out of there. Renzo put the cookie tin on the table and answered Armando's questions about Sonora. He delivered a note to him from Flor which said “We arrived safe and well. Doña Clemencia of the many demons treats Elsa like crap. Awaiting instructions.” He crumpled the paper and handed it back to Renzo, telling him he wil prepare a reply. “We need to be careful. I don't want any mistakes.”
Lamberto visited Aurora. She said she had problems with Carlos but didn't want to talk about it. Lamberto told her about Andres being sent to the prison facility. “He is there because you lied.” She replied “I thought you were thinking about me but you always thought more about him than me.” Lamberto denied that and said it was important to ask her to retract the statement. The consequence would be a conscience bothering her about this for the rest of her life. She refused to talk about this again and ended up leaving the room. [She may already be beyond redemption.]
Nora tried on the dress Elsa gifted her and was thrilled to pieces. She was going out and Elsa called to someone but Clemencia barged in, Nora getting into the closet and closing the door just in time. Elsa told her she went out a little while previously to finish a task. Clemencia left without another word and closed the door. Nora and Elsa laughed as quietly as they could.
Angela met with Fuentes, who offered her a drink in anticipation of better things. She refused it and gave him the large envelope of cash, saying “I'd be crazy to stay here with you” and reached for her purse. He was on her like a vulture on a corpse. He demanded that she get naked and she asked if he planned to drug her as he had done before. This only got worse until he put his hands around her throat as he had done the previous time.
Gerardo got a call as he was driving.
Horacio drank and talked with one of his besties in the bar telling him that things that were none of his business.
Elsa told Flor that one good thing about being there is seeing the stars in the sky. She then told Flor in secrecy that she had seen her mother before they left. Flor was happy to hear that Estela had escaped the manicomio and was recovering. However Ivan was passing by, saying he was en route to a party. She was surprised to see him alone, but then told him to have a good time.

Another Death with Complications: Dialogue as Needed Edition
Part 2 of 5
Gerardo entered the cabin to fund him and Angela fighting. Fuentes threw her onto the bed with intent to rape, Gerardo punched him, this turned into what looked like a bar fight, and Angela found Fuentes' pistol and aimed it at him. She ordered him not to move. Gerardo told her to put it down. [Really?] He told her she shouldn't make any mistakes. She told him what Fuentes had done to her before. Gerardo said he would denounce him for rape and he would end up in prison. He then made an error himself: he left the room to look for (a security camera?). Fuentes tried taunting Angela, asking her what she would say if other cops ask her why she was there with him. That she was there with him because he had made a deal with Armando? “Yo have too much to lose,” he said. “Like the gun with which Quiroga killed Olmos. If we're in prison together I could tell your son that this wasn't the first time we saw each other. In this very house thanks to his father-in-law.” “You damned – ” she got out before the bullet left the gun.
Gerardo was two rooms away and he ran in to find Fuentes on the floor in a pool of blood. “Mother, what did you do?” He felt for a pulse, then turned Fuentes over. Based on the appearance of the blood stain the bullet had entered his heart. Gerardo touched the jugular vein, then shook his head. “He's dead, Mother.” Angela said nothing. She looked like she was tired and in shock at the same time.
Estela told Hector and Irene it was time for her to appear and take back her life. Hector told her he understood but that it was very risky. Who knew what Armando would do? She was determined to fake it with Armando for the sake of her children [Hasn't she read anything by experts that confirms that this doesn't work?] Irene said she agreed with Estela and would be sure she isn't alone in this. Estela said she had a plan.
Elsa went to the stables and saw Nora kissing Ivan.
Angela said that Fuentes tried to take the pistol from her [Reminder: We didn't see that.] Gerardo said they should call the police and Angela begged him not to. “Fuentes tried to rape you, you defended yourself. This was self-defense.” Angela was almost hysterical. “Nobody would believe this. We have no proof that this cop did this.” Gerardo demanded to hear everything. “...and I don't want an more of your lies.” “He threatened me. He threatened with the statement Andres made against me.” she finally said. “He was obsessed with me. He said if I boinked him he would make Andres' accusation disappear so he would remain in prison.” She went on to say she came to negotiate with him. She begged him not to call the police. “Promise me you won't let this ruin our lives. We don't have any other option.” [Bitch, you already did that. “Do you realize what position you put me into?”
Padre Reynaldo entered a small restaurant to find the owner sweeping her floor. He asked whether she could help a woman who had suffered domestic violence.
Gerardo asked if she knew she was making an accomplice of him. He asked who owned the house and she told him it was Armando. She had asked to use this place to negotiate with Fuentes. She told Gerardo that Armando lent her the money. They started talking and then he attacked her. Gerardo asked why she didn't tell him. They could have denounced him and had him arrested. She didn't have the courage. She wanted to call Armando but Gerardo said not to. “This is between you and me, Mother.” “We can rely on him. He can help. He would not want to –” “Why would he help conceal a crime?” he said. “We are not calling anybody. We will solve this ourselves. Do you understand?” She nodded.

Part 3 of 5
Martin was awakened by Domingo who asked if they will ever see their mother again [SOSO]
Andres seemed to get a new cellmate and the guy seemed reasonable. He asked Andres why he was in and Andres told him. He advised him not to repeat that or things will get very bad for him. Andres thanked him and asked why he was in there.
Gerardo took a shovel to the earth by the headlights of his car while Angela scrubbed the blood off the floor on her knees like a charwoman. At the same time Aurora got the message that Carlos was outside her house and wanted to talk to her. She let him in and the argument started all over again from the beginning. She put on the same decisive act as before the wedding, then said “I can't. I can't” and left the room.
Gerardo returned after burying Fuentes. He had also disposed of Fuentes' car. He told her they would be difficult to find. She asked him to forgive her for involving him in this. He said nothing except “Let's go.” She took her purse and the two manila envelopes of cash and they left. The place looked in order.
Elsa was in bed when Nora returned. She sat up immediately, telling Nora she could not sleep. She asked Nora where she had gone and she said she was in the stables. People from Don Romoldo's were there and invited her to a bonfire. Of course this led to the enquiry about whether her novio was there and Nora answered Yes but decided never to reveal his name. Elsa said “I know why. He's your mother's husband.” Nora looked afraid.
Later Angela noticed that Gerardo had put on his father's robe. She asked why and he asked – a bit sarcastically – whether she'd prefer him to wear clothes that were stained and dirty. This almost became an argument. She was crying and tried to embrace her son but he backed away from her, frowning. He left her alone in her room.
Elsa told Nora she saw them kissing. Nora began denying it and left the room angry.
Gerardo disposed of his stained clothes by burning them in a metal garbage can far away from his parents' house. He was very disturbed by all this.
The following morning (?) the nurse who had confiscated Armando's clothes returned them to him and told him he was being released. He was satisfied to get out of “this prison” and she told him that hospitals are not prisons [I guess she never worked in a manicomio]. She told him that if he doesn't want to end up in hospital again he has to follow doctors' orders. He yessed her until she said “The most important is rest.” He wanted privacy to dress and she left the room.

Part 4 of 5
Renzo found one of the Missing Persons flyers posted on a wall near the office.
Gerardo went “home” and told Elena he had had an emergency at the hospital. She knew he was lying because she had called the hospital and was told he was not on duty. She also recognized that he wasn't wearing his own clothes. He said there was an injury and he borrowed some clean clothes. He then asked why she was interrogating him. The maid knocked and told her that her father was home. She went right downstairs to greet him. He was trying to behave like any normal father. Elena asked whether he had a special diet. He said yes butnit didn't sound like his breakfast request was in line with doctor's orders. Gerardo came downstairs and Horacio asked him what was wrong. He just said he had a bad night. When Elena returned to the dining room he said he had to go to work. His shift for the day did not change.
Silvia delivered Estela's breakfast and Estela thanked her for her help and told them that she would be going home to her children. Happy thoughts exchanged and bonding over the future mutual grandchild until Silvia told her that Andres was in prison. Since Estela had not known any of this Silvia had to explain the whole thing to her.
Rocio set the table for breakfast in the Montero house. Angela came down the stairs and took a large vegetable out of the shopping bag and found a copy of the Missing Person flyer. They were being distributed by the market.
Carlos told Meche he had gone to see Aurora the night before. As they prepared breakfast they came to the conclusion that Aurora was immature. Carlos said he couldn't understand why she had married him.
Elena asked Armando whether any special care needed to be taken and he said he was fine and wanted to be treated normally. Domingo said they were worried he was going to die and he tried reassuring him he wasn't [Perhaps reassuring himself as well]. The doorbell rang and a maid let Irene in. She commented on Armando being home and he said “I'm fine; those doctors were exaggerating.” Irene said “Good, because I have great news. Estela has been found.” Armando stopped chewing. The younger kids became excited. Armando forced himself to look happy and asked how she found out. She said the police had called her. The woman who had called them said Estela was with her. Armando asked about this and Irene said that the woman's name was Miriam and she runs a foundation outside of San Juan. He asked how this woman knew and Irene said there were flyers all over town with Estela's photo. The kids proudly claimed credit for this. Armando laughed almost like a normal husband and father while Elena has a very fake smile.
Silvia called Luis to tell him what happened to Andres. He was shocked, asked all the good questions, and told Silvia to call if she needed help.
Elsa found Nora swimming in the lake and reassured her she wouldn't tell anyone about her and Ivan. She asked if she was in love with him and she said she was. Elsa told her to be very careful about this.

Part 5 of 5
Outside the house Armando asked Irene how this woman found Estela. Irene told him she had found Estela on the highway, very disoriented. And in her hospital gown. Didn't even know her own name. “Is she that disoriented now?” he asked. “She didn't say and I didn't ask. I want to visit her as soon as possible.” “And the police. Why did they call you?” “Because I reported her disappearance. Isn't it odd that you did not report this long before I did?” “Yes, yes, it is. Let's go.” They got into Armando's car. He in the shotgun seat, her in the back, and the chauffeur who had followed her in the driver's seat.
Antonia got the call from Sonora; this was like a verbal telegram. They read Elsa's note and she replied that Andres was alright. She asked for a number to call back and it was given.
Meche went up to Aurora's room where she had unpacked and hung up her clothes. Meche told her she was there as her friend, not as Carlos' sister. She probably took the best approach in getting her to think about giving Carlos another chance.
Andres' new cellmate [We still don't know his name] went into the yard where he took him to his “gang” and he said he was there due to robbery. [Not sure what the bald guy said]. Another one seemed to talk about breaking out of there. They told him to get used to the place.
Gerardo heard a patient talk about having nightmares. His mind flashed back to the night before as this patient talked about medication that didn't agree with him. Gerardo did not look like himself.
Irene and Armando walked into Miriam's facility. Irene introduced herself and Armando and Miriam repeated everything Irene had told Armando. She told them to have a seat and she would get Estela.
Aurora and Carlos met. They got into his car.
Estela entered the public room looking as though she was in a trance. Armando looked shocked. He asked her if she recognized him and told her he was her husband.
Thanks, Urban. Very enjoyable!
I feel sorry for Gerardo being dragged into becoming involved in his crazy mother Angela’s sordid life with her shooting Fuentes and him burying the body. Has he not ever heard of the term “accessory”? That being said, it was pretty stupid for him to go off to find something to tie Fuentes up with in the first place and leave his mother alone with the gun and Fuentes. He should have sent her and he should have stayed knowing how unstable she is.
Gerardo has a crazy mother and married an equally crazy woman. He needs a divorce and some therapy.
Father Reynaldo did a good job creating a backstory for what happened to Estela after her stay at Dr. Leonidas’ torture chamber.
That is all for now.
Gracias, Jarifa.
I too feel for Gerardo. He is now his mother's victim just as much as Aurora is. I feel worse for him than for Aurora because he has a conscience. I'm betting that he will talk to the padre shortly. He might advise Gerardo to see a shrink and it sure as hell will not be Leonidas. I totally agree about the divorce as well.
He will also have to get over Angela's having committed a crime. She needs to get arrested for this one and whatever the outcome of the investigation she will have to be forced to admit having stabbed Andres. He can't be in prison until the finale.
Fuentes' death not only saves Armando millions of pesos it effectively frees him from any suspicion about Olmos' death unless he actually stashed the murder weapon and other evidence as he implied to Angela before she killed him.
I will get to Episode 28 a bit later. I need to go to the pharmacy.
Urban, this is so fast and furious that if you miss a scene, you miss much Thanks to your sharp eye, we miss nothing. Just wonderful.
“He was on her like a vulture on a corpse” could not have recalled that loathsome image more perfectly.
Fuentes received what he deserved and I’m only sorry at the timing with Gerardo now involved. Watching Gerardo dig the grave gave me chills. We know this will all come to light at some point but in the interim, he will truly suffer.
I'm so sick of looking at Elena's sour, pinched face.
Nora and Ivan? Next.
So who is Andres’ enigmatic cell mate? Will Luis come to the rescue?
If Aurora can’t summon up the courage to end her marriage that was over before it began, Carlos needs to do so.
“Father Reynaldo did a good job creating a backstory for what happened to Estela after her stay at Dr. Leonidas’ torture chamber” – Jarifa I thought so too! Loved the posters the kids put up.
What a fantastic job you are doing Urban, thank you! Can't wait to read your next recap.
Diana
Thanks, Urban, another great recap. Now Angela has put both her children in positions where they can get sent to jail. I wonder if she feels any guilt. I know she doesn’t for Aurora, she really made her do it. I doubt she does for Geraldo either. I can’t figure out why he went to the cabin. He didn’t know who owned it so probably had never been there before. But I hate that Fuentes is dead because he’s the only one that knows the truth about Andres, Armando and Angela. I hope Estela can pull this off. Armando wants her back in that place so she could disappear again.
As
Elena did not look happy to see her mother. Apparently only Daddy brings happiness into her life.
They did a great job with the story of Estela appearing. Armando was not happy.
I don’t see how Andres will get out of prison. Not anytime soon anyway. But hopefully Elsa will find out where he is.
Don’t know why Nora is having a thing with her stepfather. It will be interesting when her mom finds out.
Liz
As I said before the isolation and probably lack of transportation are factors here are part of Nora's problem. However since that post I also think this is a way to stick it to her nasty mother. Give Nora a better-looking guy with a decent car and paycheck and she will be outta there.
Elena is unhappy because she could lose her privilege to abuse her younger siblings.
Angela does not give a damn. She may also be under the delusion that her social status makes her above the law. She is too mentally ill to realize that she may be getting off on sabotaging her children's lives. And what will people say if Aurora goes to prison for perjuryand Gerardo for accessory after the fact? Nothing she will like. Whom will she blame? Andres of course.
Urban, thank you for capturing every stomach turning twist.
Yikes ...Fuentes was a disgusting animal as he attacked Angela . As soon as I saw Gerardo arrive , I figured he would Fuentes would end up dead as Gerardo came to his toxic mother's aid. Ugh. I had to tighten my beanie when normally smart , savvy Gerardo left his wacky mother alone with the guy who was just trying very hard to viciously rape her. Really ? Cold as ice Armando had no problem sending Angela to that cottage alone to meet FuEntes.
Now good guy Gerardo is accessory to murder . Poor hombre carries two burdens dealing with his cold fish elitist wife . and his hot mess mother. Yikes.
I hope nothing happens to Irene . Armando doesn't like people getting between him and his victim Estela.

“After everything that's happened you have to give her time,” said Irene. Armando looked back ar her and said “She doesn't understand; she doesn't recognize me.” Behind him Estela said “Yes, yes. I recognize you. My love/” She embraced him and then exchanged looks with Irene.
Renzo was in the office showing the flyer to the secretary. She asked where he found it and he told her. She commented on how strange this was that Estela had disappeared and they didn't know. Who could have done this? Both seemed genuinely confused and more than a little worried.
Estela and Irene put on a good show, pretending to have forgotten much more. Armando guided her out and Irene stayed back long enough to thank Miriam for her assistance.
Carlos drove her to an open area where he wanted to build them a house. He had bought this before the wedding. [How far away is this from town?]
Irene, Estela, and Armando entered the house; the children were not there. Estela asked for them. She remembered all their names and their interests which Armando told her had changed. “Domingo is eight years old now. Elena and Elsa aren't little girls anymore.” The manicomio came up and Armando asked how she got out. She said she didn't remember; she remembered walking for along time and kept saying she wanted to see her children. Irene suggested that she change her clothes and Estela looked around asking where her room was. Armando asked to show her to her room. Irene waited downstairs.
Meche and Horacio talked about Aurora and her hope that Aurora would come to her senses. She wanted them to reconcile but Horacio did not look as though he agreed.
Armando told her to do him a favor and be careful when talking to or in front of the children. They may not be ready for the details. She continued to act confused and said “”How difficult it must have been for you alone with them.” He told her that Elena helped quite a lot. She asked why she had been in hospital and he said “You had a nervous breakdown. It was severe. After the accident you provoked on Domingo.” “I? What did I do to my son?” He approached her slowly with a penetrative look. “Do you really not remember anything?” Before she could answer Sofie entered the room and yelled “Mama!” Estela turned around and embraced her. Armando watched with an air of suspicion.
The Martin was practicing fútbol on the front lawn when Estela came down. Martin hugged her, Elena said “We missed you” in a flat tone, and Estela went over to Domingo, hugged him, and started crying. Armando crouched down behind her and said to calm down. “For Domingo this was not easy.” Estela stood up and looked at Elena who asked her “How are you, Mama?” in a very flat tone. Elena barely embraced her back. “I'm happy to be back home. Where is Elsa?” Armando told her she was in a boarding school to complete her studies. Estela approached Armando asking “Will you help me communicate with her?” “We'll see,” Armando finally said. “It's a bit complicated.”

Part 2 of 6
Antonia brought Andres a sandwich which he enjoyed because “the food here is very bad” and told him she'd bring him something different every time. He told her just to bring whatever she could. She told him Elsa was in an area where there were no telephones or signals. She had said she was alright. Antonia gave him the contact number she had.
Estela's younger children sat with her and Domingo asked whether she remembered them. Armando told them to go easy on their mother because she didn't remember much. The younger kids promised to help her remember everything. Domingo pleaded with her to never leave them alone again and she promised him that much. They hugged her. Elena did not.
Aurora and Carlos ate in a nearby restaurant where she apologized and acted as though nothing bad was going on with her. She talked about the shock of her father's infidelity with Silvia [Again, that was not an infidelity 20+ years ago] and the unexpected arrival of Mariel and she was freaked out. She promised this would not happen again. [She is fooling herself.]
Elena told her father she thought Estela was much better than when she visited her in hospital. She had not remembered anything. Armando said there were more memories to forget this time. Remember when you and Elsa were little girls? He then said he was going to ask Leonidas to come to see her. Elena said this could recall bad memories and might be counter productive. “Why don't we get another doctor?” He said no, and said he was going to work. She said he was just out of hopital and had to rest. He said he had pending matters to attend and to stay close to her mother and watch her. “If anything happens, call me.”
He went over to the couch to tell the children he was going to work and then asked Estela to talk with him inside. They went into the study and he told her would soon be working from home. He didn't want her exerting herself in managing the house. She needed rest and should let Elena do more. She suggested they begin by pretending they just met and she said No. He said he was working for her father, she seemed very distant with her long blonde hair. Eventually they were near each other and began talking. There was more conversation and then he and she kissed and they were in love and were married a short time later. [The smart money says this was not the case]. Something this didn't sound right to her and she asked what happened since then. Estela looked confused and concerned at the same time. She said that when they were met earlier she felt like he was very distant, like he didn't want to see her. “Don't say that. Of course I wanted to see you; why wouldn't I? It sounds weird because you don't remember.” “I remember that you are my husband. I could never forget that” “That pleases me, but you forget important things like Domingo's accident.” “It hurt me so much when I saw him on crutches. What happened? Tell me.”
Meche visited Antonia at work and showed her the brochure from the university in Guanajuato she will be attending. Antonia congratulated he and said she would be studying industrial design. Andres' name came up and Meche apologized for that. Antonia told her that once Andres is proven innocent he will be out of prison and can resume his studies. Carlos and Aurora came in looking happy and that made Meche happy.

Of course Armando lied about how Domingo's accident happened, completely omitting what provoked Estela's emotional state on that day. He told her he wanted to get him there to examine her and she refused, saying the only thing she needed was to be there with him and their children. Irene came in and sat down on the couch with Estela as Armando kissed his wife, saying he was going to the office. When he was out the door Estela Estela said this was insane having to fake this. Irene said she was doing well but why the shouting? Estela told her that he wanted to bring Leonidas in again. Irene told her that she should not worry and can't allow this.
Meche told Carlos and Aurora of her plans and he congratulated her. Hector came in and was happy to see Carlos and Aurora reconciled. Love is the reason we resolve our problems (or words to that effect). “That's why we're together,” Carlos said, putting his arm around Aurora. “Because we love each other. Horacio looked completely defeated. Aurora, however, still looked less than thrilled.
Antonia tried sending a message to Elsa through the third party number she got hers but the operator she had spoken to did not have an ID to reply to and therefore would not be able to deliver the message. [Author's Note: I can't believe that anything this antiquated is still needed.] Antonia hung up.
Armando went to the office and was not pleased that his secretary knew he had been in hospital. When he asked how she knew she said that a nurse in that hospital is a cousin of hers. He paused a moment and whispered to her that nobody else was to know about this. She agreed to keep quiet [but must be wondering why] and exchanged looks with Renzo behind his back as he motioned for Renzo to follow him into his office. Once inside he paid Renzo his “bonus” and Angela entered just as Renzo was leaving. She closed the door behind him and locked it. Armando looked up and asked “What happened with Fuentes? Did you give him the money?” “No. Fuentes is dead.” He looked at her in shock, then stood up. “What happened?”
Angela angrily accused him of lying to her when he told her she would not have to have another night of brutal sex with Fuentes, which was the price of imprisoning Andres and letting her off scott free. He said he hadn't lied to her and tried to touch her face. She pulled back and asked why he had sent Gerardo. He said it was for her protection but Gerardo must have gotten there late. She told him what happened, that when Gerardo left the room to get a weapon Fuentes tried to take the gun away from her and she shot him. “I threatened to call the police on him. He said that if he went to prison we all would, too. He has the weapon you used to kill Olmos.” “No, he lied. He lied to upset you so you wouldn't call the police.” “No. If I had he would have talked about us. Gerardo would know the truth. So, yes. I killed Fuentes in cold blood.” Armando asked about Gerardo. Angela told him what happened. Armando thought a moment and realized that sooner or later they would be looking for Fuentes just as they had looked for Olmos. Angela had to see to it that Gerardo tells no one about this or he will be dragged into this as an accomplice. “We have enough problems as it is, including Estela's reappearance.” Angela was shocked and Armando explained how that happened. She asked whether Estela remembered catching them in the act. He said Estela appears to not have remembered that. When he suggested to Angela to visit her to see if that was true she refused on the grounds that it could jog Estela's memory and then what? He continued to talk this up and implied they would grab some nooky later at the casa de campo [i.e., the scene of the crime.] Angela left Armando's office and he took the bag she left on his desk. It contained the money meant to pay off Fuentes.

Aurora told Carlos she was going to her parents' house to get her things. He offered to help but she told him she needed to do this alone.
Gerardo went back to the Quiroga house and was pleased to see Estela.
Silvia went to Armando's office to see him. When the secretary – Ingrid – alerted him he thought for a second and told her to send her in. After she closed the door Silvia said “I'm here to talk about our grandchild. Don't tell me you didn't know.”
Estela had told Gerardo of her plan. “I understand your plan but you have to be very careful so that Armando doesn't realize you're faking.” “I know and Elena can't find out either so please don't tell anyone.” Gerardo agreed and told her she could count on him as well as Hector who helped her escape. Elena came in, which may mean that she heard some of this. Elena started talking about Acapulco, some past vacation. Elena was still stone-faced until Gerardo said how great it was to have her mother back. Fake smile and an insincere comment later Domingo came into the room on his crutches. Estela helped him up the stairs. Gerardo wanted to catch a few zzz's himself but Elena held him back demanding to know where he had been all night. She was still determined to believe he was cheating on her. When he denied it she said “Don't talk as if I were crazy,” [Which all we flies on the wall know she is]. She accused him of lying when he said he was at the hospital and said he was fed up with her damned jealousy. “God, leave me alone!” were his last words as he went upstairs.
“Since leaving the Monteros' service you have been very impertinent,” Armando said to Silvia. “I have learned to say what I think,” she replied. “but apart from that time, you and I will soon have a grandchild. For that child's good his father should not be in prison for a crime he didn't commit. You have the power to get him set free.” “No, I don't. That's up to the justice system. No matter what happens with that you have to understand this: Andres will never marry my daughter. We will never be family.” Angela then walked in without knocking and asked “What are you doing here?” She then asked an insulting rhetorical question and Silvia replied “No, Señora, I am not that sort of person. I am here on a family matter.” She looked at Armando and asked “You haven't told your friend you will be a grandfather? That Elsa is having Andres' baby?” “Is that what she is telling you?” Angela asked. “Yes. Unfortunately, yes.” Angela laughed saying “So the story repeats itself. Your bastard son is having a bastard.” Silvia said “No. This baby has a father who is in prison because you intend to ruin his life. I'm not taking this lying down.” She looked at Armando. “I came to you but that was useless. Good afternoon.” When she closed the door Armando raised his hand toward Angela to indicate he didn't want to talk about this.

Estela sat on the foot of Domingo's bed to talk to him. When he asked her about the accident she said she didn't remember it happening. She started crying as she begged him to forgive her because she never wanted to harm him. He told her not to cry because it was an accident and he knew she would never have wanted to hurt him. He had prayed every night and thought she would never return. She said that was never in her mind. He begged her never to leave again and she promised him that.
In the prison yard Andres called his cellmate – Oliver – over but he was grabbed by other inmates. Andres went to his defense and a fight broke out. Guards intervened quickly and forced all the prisoners to their knees. [All will probably lose visitation rights for the foreseeable future.]
Silvia went to Lamberto's room in tears, telling him about her futile visit to Armando's office.
Aurora had finished packing her things when Angela returned home. She told her mother she had reconciled with Carlos and was going back to him. Angela had not changed her opinion of the situation, implying that Aurora will cheat on Carlos with his brother under their roof. Aurora was fed up with this and walked out without even an Adios.
Antonia visited Andres and saw bruises. She asked what happened and was upset that he had gotten into a fight. He asked about Elsa and Antonia explained why she couldn't send a message. Andres only had a vague memory of the name in Elsa's message so he asked her to ask this operator again.
That night Padre Reynaldo was at the Quiroga house when Armando came back from the office. His youngest kids had not been told why he had been in hospital, but Martin knew the reason. Estela faked ignorance. The padre was there to introduce their new housekeeper. They went into the kitchen and Armando asked the standard questions, then told Sonia to explain the household routine, etc.
Ivan asked how Clemencia was related to Elsa and she explained that her mother was Elsa's grandmother, so she is a cousin of Elsa's mother. Despite being first cousins they had very different lives [Clemencia is a poor relation]. Estela had been born to money and had the good fortune to marry Armando. Elsa stopped eating long enough to say “My father is a very special man.” Clemenia then agreed, saying that Estela was lucky and describing Armando as smart, handsome, affectionate, and a great worker. “...and that is what any woman wants at her side, like you, mi amor.” she said to Ivan. He kissed her hand. Elsa managed to maintain a poker face.
Elena came down for dinner, telling everyone that Gerardo wanted to sleep and would not be joining them. Estela said she would like to go to the boarding school to see Elsa which put Armando in a bad position when Sofie and Domingo added that Elsa wanted to be home for their mother's return. Estela said that if they're worried about her going alone, the padre could accompany her. He agreed immediately, which caught Armando's attention. He changed the subject and said he wanted everyone to meet their new cook, Lily, who came into the dining room with a plate.

Part 6 of 6
At that moment Flor was telling Elsa that Nora was not well spoken of in the nearby town. That people said she was a bit balmy and would think that of her if she hung out with her. Elsa was surprised and annoyed with metiches. Flor was concerned about the risk of Nora being a bad influence. Nora heard this on her way in and said emphatically that they say this because they envy her. She is the only straight-forward person and not a hypocrite. She is more right than all these people who are holding rocks in their hands. Nora told her to calm down. She is not concerned with what others say about her. Nora asked Flor what her problem was with her. Elsa asked Flor to leave them alone to talk and Flor left the room. Elsa apologized on Flor's behalf and Nora told her it was nothing. She went to get the dress Elsa gave her and asked if Elsa would help with her makeup.
The younger Quiroga kids were playing or practicing something and Elena scolded them. Estela told Elena that she appreciated her help but she is in charge now. Elena had the nerve to tell her that it was her fault that these children are such spoiled brats. She said Goodnight to the younger kids who then went upstairs. She then told Elena “That is the last time you will talk to me like that.” Elena replied “What happened is you don't remember what you provoked. You had better return to the psych ward and continue your treatment.” “I have never understood why you resent me so much.” “No; it's not resentment. It's that I am tired and fed up with having to be in charge of this house and minding my siblings because you are sick in the head.” Estela was fed up. “Shut up. You don't have the right to offend me.” Elena gave her a contemptuous look and got up without another word. Padre Reynaldo – who had been sitting between them all through this exchange – excused himself. Armando asked to speak to him for a few minutes in the study before he left. Once there he directed the padre to close the door. He then asked how he could volunteer to escort Estela to the boarding school. He replied that he couldn't refuse and reminded him of Estela's need to see her daughter. Armando said he understood but “Be careful. And I am not sure of what she remembers.” “And what she might gain if she is faking?” “Exactly. I am trying to find out and I need your help.” “And I will, but wouldn't it be better if she knew where Elsa is? If you don't tell her she could find out from another source.” Armando said nothing.
Angela came over and Lily let her in. Estela greeted her as if she were still her best friend, even hugging her. Armando and the padre came out of the study and were surprised at the sight. Fortunately Estela's back was to them and none of the others saw her facial expression.
Okay, now the heat is on!
This situation can't go on too long because Armando will need to be even more on the ball than usual. Estela has been doing alright so far but she can't maintain this pretense forever. What if she has to have sex with him?
Oddly, Erica Buenfil played his suegra in Te Doy la Vida.
Elena is also at the breaking point. Can anyone recall any scenes of her interacting with Estela much prior to her wedding day (Episode 4) or between that and Estela being shanghaied to Leonidas' cuckoo's nest (Episode 10)? I honestly think that Elena is incapable of loving anyone. She will also continue to make Gerardo's life a living hell.
I also see the padre having a crisis of faith with all this going on around him.
Thanks, Urban. I'm shocked Gerardo is now caught up in his mom's crimes. I never saw that coming. I agree with all said on how foolish to leave Angela in the room with her attacker. Poor Gerardo faces prison and being barred from being a physician. Angela gives not a twit.
Now onto to read the recap for #28. Urban, thanks a bunch for your double effort for these two episodes.
Niecie, I never saw that coming either. He still has to find out that his mother was sweating up the sheets with his suegro.
Elena has no trouble concealing that from Gerardo but it really isn't her news to tell. Either way it will be a huge log on their next fiery argument.
Thanks so much Urban. I don’t know how you do it but it is very much appreciated. I miss so much with my low level of Spanish and it’s great to know everything that’s going on.
Elena gets worse with each episode. I was trying to remember how she was earlier but just remember how mad she was at Elsa. I think she feels the same way about her mother and Elsa. But at least Elena was against her mom seeing Leónidas. I wish Gerardo would end his marriage, but then I think things might be safer for Estela with him in the house.
I do feel sorry for Carlos. Aurora definitely doesn’t love him. And his brother is not going to go quietly into the night.
I wonder how Angela can have so little concern for what she’s doing to her kids. I think she’s just out for herself and would think nothing of them taking the blame for her actions.
I can’t remember if Estela knows where Elsa really is. I feel like Elsa told her before she had to go.
Armando is no dummy and I hope Estela can keep fooling him but I feel he’s already suspicious. I think Flor is more needed at home than at the ranch.

Estela knows. What I am not sure about is whether Estela knows how much Clemencia hates her and why.
Angela is a classic narcissist. She doesn't give a damn about anyone but herself. One of the most irritating things she's done through this entire story so far is accuse Lamberto of adultery when the relationship with Silvia happened before they were married. This is not adultery and it's nothing about her.
The problem is that -- like any other narcissist -- she makes everything about herself.
Elsa can probably hold her own in Sonora but since she can't call anyone in San Juan she needs witnesses to anything that is done to her. It sounds like the surrounding area is filled with very narrow-minded people who would throw stones at Elsa for her "disobedience."
Thank you so much for the second recap! Those double headers are tedious to write and to watch.
Just a couple of thoughts:
Where Carlos wants to build a house seemed to be in the middle of no where. What is that about?
Elena cannot seem to decide what she wants except for no sex with her husband. Of course, she blames her mother for everything.
It was interesting hearing Armando’s version of his love story with Estela.
Great cat and mouse game between Armando and Estela.
Urban, excellent as always. Your details are incredible and dialog translations so, so helpful! I so look forward to your sharp and savvy summaries.
“Armando watched with an air of suspicion” was exactly right. I think there is the tiniest thread of doubt; we can only hope it doesn’t get unraveled.
Armando’s smarmy little smile after Angela left his office conveyed volumes. Fuentes dead? Problem solved. But now he knows Gerardo was involved.
Elena is cold. Ice cold. Her distaste for her mother is obvious as is her lack of interest in anyone in her family. Except Armando.
Carlos believed Aurora loved him; she had agreed to marry him and then right before the wedding everything changed. Or should I say Horacio reappeared and everything changed. He isn’t entirely responsible (it takes two) but she seemed fairly happy, not ecstatic, but happy until that point. Carlos only mistake seems to be falling in love with Aurora. He seems very nice and if he has been cruel, or even unkind to Aurora, I missed it.
Erika is such an excellent actor. I may be wrong but it seems quite a few recent TNs have more age appropriate couples. She is a good foil for Jorge Salinas here. “Great cat and mouse game between Armando and Estela” is exactly right Jarifa!

Urban, thank you so much for all the time and talent you put into two episodes .
To me, Armando looks suspicious of Estela's story. She has put back in the house with him, and it I am worried about that.
When I watched that scene of Carlos showing pouty , snotty Aurora that property, I wondered if was the sane place Gerardo buried Fuentes's body .
Elena is a joyless, uptight enigma .
Gracias, Urban. The plot keeps thickening and I appreciate your coverage of all the angles.
Yippee, Estela has a plan and is madly working it. But I fear (since she doesn't know what we know) that she doesn't fathom how Armando will go to get what he wants.
I'm surprised Elena (rightfully) advised against bringing Leonidas back on the case. Could she possibly break with Armando by el fin?
The Padre needs to tell Estela about Armando's plan for her grandkid.
I also worry about the isolation of that piece of land. I don't think Aurora would like living far away from restaurants, movie theatres, bistros, shopping, and friends. And if this is where Gerardo buried Fuentes -- great point, Susanlynn! -- that is another mystery that must be solved.
Since the previous version of this was set in the 1950s, I wonder whether it had a film noir feel to it. Most of these actors would look great in the clothes of that time, especially JS, CE, and almost all the women.
Leonidas would creep out Count Dracula.
What I am not getting right now (though it might seem minor to others) is if Armando, Hector, and Lamberto are the three richest men in town why are their homes so small compared to mansions we've seen in other novelas? The Quirogas have at least five full-time servants but their dining room is claustrophobic compared to ones we've seen before. All the bedrooms also look substantially smaller, too.
Urban Anthropologist- Thank you so much! I will definitely check that site out.
I came to read through all the comments that were done after mine & saw your note. All of you are so very kind and generous.
