Camino – Capitulo 89 – Part 1 of 5

Falso and Karen enjoy a quiet wedding meal. I mean I guess they enjoyed it, Falso basically talked to her like an incubator and warned her that he doesn’t want her to lose another baby, but she loves him for some reason so, shrug. Karen does kiss Falso with her eyes wide open which is probably a good rule of thumb for dealing with her new husband.

JP gets his new prosthetic leg and the doctor tries to be as encouraging and hopeful as possible. This is met with non-stop doom and gloom from JP. He even looks unpleasant.

Gaby, Amparo and Memo discuss her sentencing as Memo and Amparo visit Gaby in jail. She was sentenced to 5 years and Memo says they will find a way to resolve this, Gaby doesn’t care how long she has to be there she just wishes JP didn’t hate her so much. Amparo tries to tell her that JP doesn’t hate her but she says that he definitely does, he wouldn’t even listen to her or believe her when she said the breaks weren’t working!!! Yep, that’s right five minutes AFTER she’s convicted and sentenced for the crime is when she brings up the faulty breaks!!! Sigh. Memo definitely looks like he’s hearing this for the first time and he flashes back to Dani’s flat tire and Ursa’s offer to fix Dani’s car prior to the accident. He finally mentions what should have been mentioned from the beginning – though to be fair he does admit this should have occurred to him before – and he tells the ladies that Ursa was working on the car earlier the day of the accident. Gaby says that’s true, she and JP saw her drop off the car but this wasn’t mentioned at trial. Memo now jumps to the right conclusion that Ursa was trying to hurt Dani, and he’s going to ask the lawyer to check the breaks NOW. If he’s right, Gaby may be able to get out of jail!!! (oh boy!)

Ursa fixes more poison for poor Martin because as she puts it, Memo has to learn that when he leaves Martin alone that’s when he gets sick…

Chuchita and Isa are chatting when Karen arrives and for some reason Isa is still thrilled to see her the wicked witch. But it doesn’t last long, Karen just came to brag out her marriage to Falso, and as soon as Isa overhears this the smile is gone!

Amparo is crying about Gaby being sentenced and stupid Falso shows up to make her day worse. He has a court order to force her to abide by the deal she made with him, he wants her out TODAY! Falso is taking possession tomorrow morning!

Memo gets home to a sleeping Ursa and goes to talk to Martin. He can’t wake him though and he wakes Ursa to tell her Martin isn’t moving!!! He’s dead, Ursa screams out in feigned panic!

Karen wants Isa to consider the news ‘super duper’ but she definitely does not!! She yells out her displeasure and I can’t tell you what she said because I couldn’t make out the words between the screams, Karen talking on top of her, and Dani saying ‘calm down’ over and over on top of that. Karen for her part asks why Isa doesn’t like the idea, her parents are divorced and her dad is free. Besides, daddy never loved mommy, he was always in love with me and now we can be together!! Dani begs Karen to stop spilling her poison. But Karen isn’t done, she tells Isa she should be happy that daddy isn’t going to be alone! He has Karen AND the baby they are expecting!! Both Dani and Isa are unpleasantly shocked. Karen is thrilled with herself.

Falso says it’s been three months since Amparo signed the contract and it’s time, she honors it so he filed a complaint with the judge. Everyone is looking very unhappy with this but Eugenio comes charging in (sans white horse) and says ‘NO, Falso!! I will not allow this!’

 

Camino – Capitulo 89 – Part 2 of 6

More fake hysterics from Ursa and she says it’s Memo’s fault that Martin is sick because he’s never there to take care of him and Memo argues that he is not a bad father – this is all well and good but while your son isn’t responsive isn’t the time to fight, they should be half way to the hospital by now! Memo prays and Martin wakes up and Memo has to yell at Ursa to call an ambulance (again, not to beat the horse but that ambulance should have already been called)

Isa runs to Chuchita crying. Chuchita wants to know what’s wrong and thinks Isa is hurt but she tells Chuchita she’s crying because her dad married her godmother and they are going to have a baby. And now her dad won’t love her because he’s going to have a real child!!! Chuchita hugs her tight.

More bragging from Karen and all her yapping about giving Falso a child with his own blood, the one thing Dani couldn’t do, starts to bring back memories for Dani…

Eugenio wants to come to an agreement with Falso but before they can get much further, they are interrupted by sirens and Memo rushing to take Martin to the ambulance. Eugenio tells Memo to take the baby to the hospital that operated on Humberto, they have specialists there and he will pay for it!! Memo thanks him and Falso goes back to threatening and talking about wanting his stupid property before the sick child is even out of the room! I would call him a heartless jackass but it’s just redundant at this point, sadly.

Falso goes to leave and we see that Ursa didn’t even go with Memo and the baby!!! She’s still hanging back and able to chat with Satan. Satan asks if the baby is really that sick and Ursa admits she doesn’t know, she might have given him too much on accident. He says in that case we may have to cancel our plan for today but Isa says no, don’t worry, I’ll take care of it. She stalks off toward her truck.

Memories come rushing back to a traumatized Dani and we see the flashback of Karen admitting she caused her miscarriages!!! Karen asks what’s wrong and why she’s looking at her like that. Dani smacks her GOOD!!! She tells her to NEVER lay another foot inside of her house, if she does, she will regret it! You killed my children! Dani’s accusation is confirmation to Karen that she remembers it all!

Eugenio says Falso took advantage of Amparo’s vulnerability and he questions what kind of man takes advantage of someone’s pain? It’s not fair! Amparo tells Eugenio about Gaby’s sentence and he says he’s sincerely sorry for this but there are programs that Gaby could be eligible for that will reduce her sentence or even get her out of bail(?). Amparo says that Memo wanted to look into the possibility of mechanical failure causing the accident but now with Martin so sick she doesn’t want to pressure him. Eugenio says not to worry, he’ll take care of it himself TODAY. And if there really was a mechanical failure it could really help Gaby!

Lupita visits Gaby in jail and they hug and visit. They do more crying than anything about how everything is horrible. Sebas is still in a coma and Gaby is in jail! Lupita really wants to find a way to help Gaby but she hasn’t been able to and Sebas needs her! Gaby tells her about the newly remembered brake issue that might make a difference and Lupita hopes that it does. Gaby says being in jail is horrible and she’s learned there are so many innocent women behind bars that need help. Lupita hopes that when she becomes a lawyer, she can dedicate her career to helping women and Gaby is sure she will succeed.

The doctor continues to try to encourage JP to learn to walk again and he continues to be pessimistic. He does manage to stand and even take a step or two which earns a smile and even a laugh but a couple more steps and JP falls. All optimism is gone as he yells that it won’t work and he’s doomed to spend his life in a wheelchair. He throws the prosthetic away from him.

 

Camino – Capitulo 89 – Part 3 of 6

Chuchita tries to convince Isa to cheer up. She should go find Dani, Chuchita is sure she will make her feel better. Isa cries that she doesn’t understand adults! First, they tell you that doing something is bad and then they do it!! (Preach little sister!) Chuchita hugs Isa close again and Dani runs into the room to comfort her daughter as well. Dani tells her she understands her sadness and that she must be confused. Isa wants to know why they got married and a very generous Dani tells Isa that she’s a very bright girl and she knows that she can understand that she and her father are no longer together, so Falso and Karen have the right to be happy too. And even if we can’t understand it, we should wish them well. Isa asks mommy to promise her that she can always live with her, she doesn’t want to live with Karen and Falso! Dani promises and the patio crosses our fingers in hopes that Dani will be able to keep her promise.

Grumpy JP is taken to meet some other patients who have lost limbs and learned to thrive in their new realities. A patient, Natalia, catches his eye as it’s clear that she has taken her life back and has confidence. JP wants to be like that and the doc says it just takes hard work and discipline.

Dani is coming down the stairs and more of her memory is returning as she slowly descends a look of shock and pain on her face. She flashes back to the actual accident and as her brain finally fills in the last pieces, she realizes that Karen pushed her! Karen tried to kill her!

Humberto is taking his turn visiting Gaby and he tells her that the lawyer is looking into the possible mechanical failure and she may be out of here soon. Gaby says she can’t wait to get out so she can help JP, even if he doesn’t love her anymore, she isn’t going to abandon him. Humberto knows that Gaby adores JP and he’s sure that she will be a big help to him because she’s always had a talent for helping others. Humberto is very proud of her. (Just an aside, watching this it struck me again how beautiful Karla is, the fresh-faced look really works for her)

JP is introduced to Natalia who is full of life and cheer! For the first time in way too long JP behaves like a normal human being instead of an angry invalid. He comments about how comfortable and confident Natalie looks with her prosthetic and he tells her about how he was only able to take a couple of steps and then he fell. She tells him that it’s just a matter of getting used to it and he will learn. Natalia tells JP all about her story. She too was injured in a car accident. She was in a coma for several days and the doctors didn’t think she would live. When she woke up and realized she lost a leg she didn’t think she’d ever be able to do the things she loved again, but look at her now? She learned how to move on and enjoy life and JP can too. But he has to accept that this is his new reality and look forward instead of backwards!

 

Camino – Capitulo 89 – Part 4 of 6

Eugenio learns the bad news that Karen and Falso are married and says he can’t believe they got married without telling anyone! Karen says it’s a moment they wanted to enjoy alone and without the presence of others who would only be pretending to be happy for them. That’s true, isn’t it? She asks dad, or is she wrong and he is happy for his daughter. Eugenio says he can’t possibly be after learning of the way they carried on an affair for so many years lying to everyone! Eugenio next wants to talk about the project that Falso is trying to start using Amparo’s property. He wants to kill the project thus killing Falso’s reason for buying the land, but Karen reminds him that he gave her lots of shares of the company a few months ago and now that she and Falso are married, THEY are now the majority share holders in the company and daddy has no say in the matter. Falso says, ‘see why I married your daughter?’ All of viewerville says yep! For majority interest in the company, but Falso claims it is because she is fierce! Eugenio doesn’t waste any time and says this is the end of the road. Our partnership is over, I quit.

Memo and Ursa are waiting at the hospital with Ursa trying to create connection by rubbing his arm. Memo ignores her and Dani arrives to see how Martin is doing. Ursa isn’t playing nice today and she asks why Dani is there, SHE is Martin’s mom and Dani should leave. Memo tries to get Ursa to calm down but Ursa says Dani is a hypocrite!! She accuses Dani of being happy that Martin is sick, suggesting that this is beneficial to Dani because if Martin dies Dani can get rid of her and Martin for ever and have Memo to herself!!! (no sweetheart, normal healthy people don’t wish death on defenseless infants!) Dani says she won’t respond the way Ursa deserves because she can understand the pain Ursa must be feeling as a mother – smack the hell out of her Dani, she isn’t in pain! Ursa says she’s leaving and she won’t come back until this woman is gone! Memo says nothing and Dani tells him not to worry about the evil sea witch, the only thing that’s important right now is Martin!

Eugenio gives evil and eviler a lecture about what’s truly important in life but it’s lost on these vultures. He says he isn’t going to stay around to see what they will do with this company but he does have one final proposal for Falso, he will sell him all his shares in the company for the price of Amparo’s land – all of it!! Falso says it’s a deal, they can find another location for their project. He goes to shake Eugenio’s hand but Eugenio refuses. He says his notary will be in touch, now get out!! Falso and Karen leave as ordered.

Chuchita is talking to Leo on the phone, trading wishes to be together and expressions of how much they miss each other. Leo wishes he could come home but work comes first… Chuchita tells him he’s going to have to start working even harder! Leo is confused and nervous at his declaration and Chuchita says she wanted to wait until he was home to tell him but he’s been gone too long and she wants to tell him now – I’m pregnant, you’re going to be a dad!! Leo is thrilled and he promises he’s going to work so hard and that she and their child are never going to want for anything. Also, they are going to be a united family very soon!

Dani tells Memo that Falso and Karen are now married and also that she remembered what happened the day of the accident! Karen pushed her!!! That’s right, she tried to kill me, Dani reveals. Before Memo can even process that, the doctor arrives with more bad news. Studies show Martin was being given high doses of antihistamines for quite a long period of time and that is what has been causing his symptoms. Memo says that’s weird because they haven’t been giving Martin any meds but the doctor says somebody close to the baby has been drugging him. They are treating him now but the doctor has to warn them the next few hours are going to be crucial in saving Martin’s life. Memo is devastated and Dani hugs him close sharing his pain.

 

Camino – Capitulo 89 – Part 5 of 6

Memo begs the doctor to save his son! He’s innocent and he doesn’t deserve this. The doctor says they are doing everything they can but Martin is in God’s hands and frankly he needs a miracle! Although he does look sympathetic and like he might believe Memo, the doctor also informs him that they have to follow protocol and inform the authorities of what’s happening here. He asks Memo not to leave the waiting area. The doctor leaves and a destroyed Memo jumps to the only logical conclusion – it was Ursula!!! His own mother was poisoning him! She did this right under my nose and I didn’t realize it! It was Ursa!!! Shock and fear take over as Memo holds his head and cries.

JP is all upset and atwitter because no matter how much anger he has toward Gaby, seeing her brought up so many emotions. He’s telling his struggle to comatose Sebas and he admits that despite all of his anger it was hard seeing Gaby like that, in prison. I know she’s responsible for all of this, he tells Sebas, but I’m still in love with the woman who destroyed our lives!!! (Boo hoo)

Dani and Memo are now sitting in the café and Dani can’t wrap her head around the idea that Ursa was harming her own son but Memo is sure she’s capable of anything. She rejected Martin since the minute he was born and Memo feels responsible because he actually believed that she had recovered. Dani says it’s not his fault and Memo swears he’s going to see that Ursa is held responsible. He won’t have any compassion on her at all! Dani says he’s right but first; they have to confirm that it was her. They need proof! Memo says she’s right.

Memo calls Amparo to tell her what’s going on. Amparo can’t believe it and Memo says he’s sure it was Ursa. He wants to press charges against her and get a restraining order to keep her away from Martin but he needs proof! Amparo says she will find it!

JP next tells Sebas about Natalia. Seeing her gave him hope that he can walk again, he says he knows Sebas can hear him and he promises he’s going to do everything to learn to walk, he’s going to overcome but Sebas needs to fight too! They will fight together and neither of them are going to give up!

Amparo and Nelida search and search and at first, they find nothing but then it’s Eureka!!! Amparo finds – and touches with all her fingerprints – all the bottles of medicine hidden in Ursa’s room. Next, Nelida touches all the bottles too!!! (This probably won’t be a problem because it’s novelaland, but really?? Then again, we saw from the car accident conviction with no investigation just how well the police investigate anyway) Amparo calls Memo and they have proof and Memo tells her to detain Ursa if she returns and not let her escape! Amparo assures she will, between her and Humberto they will make sure she can’t escape! Memo is upset at himself all over again after receiving confirmation that Ursa poisoned his son right in front of him while he was none the wiser.

Aw, cute little Martin is in an incubator and Memo is by his side cheering him on and telling him how they still will have a long road to travel together and he’ll always be there for him but he has to fight, he can do this! Dani is there too gowned up in the background praying (this is a cute scene, but realistically the doctors probably shouldn’t let anyone in that room until the police have solid proof of who was responsible for poisoning that child!)

JP is still in a pleasant mood and he is happy for Chuchita that Leo was happy to hear about the pregnancy news! Chuchita was nervous but Leo was excited and he’s going to finish his tour and come home ASAP.

 

Camino – Capitulo 89 – Part 6 of 6

Eugenio has come to see Amparo and Lola and Chema come in too! Chema wants to go to the movies with Grandpa and Lola and they go to do just that after a short discussion about whether or not it can be a scary movie. Grandpa says no, Chema says monoman is scared of nothing and Lola suggests a superhero movie! They all agree. Amparo must have already forgotten dad was needed for Ursa watch because she says nothing to prevent him from leaving again for the movies. After they take off, Amparo asks if Eugenio was able to fix things with Falso and he tells her yes. She’s getting all her property back! Amparo is thrilled but overwhelmed when she learned Eugenio sold his company to get her business back. She doesn’t feel like she deserves it, but Eugenio says maybe Amparo will hire him to work there in the kitchen! Amparo laughs but Eugenio is serious. He’s always been fascinated by cooking and he’s realizing now that he wants to spend his time doing the things he loves with the woman he loves!! A thrilled Amparo goes in for the reconciliation kiss which Eugenio returns enthusiastically and these two are back on!

Karen is calling Falso. She’s waiting for him to come home. They have reservations for dinner!!! Falso says he’s caught up at work and not to wait for him. It’s our wedding night a distraught Karen says. Falso deflects, work is work, he tells her. She knows how that is, they can celebrate tomorrow! Falso has to go, I love you he says quickly before hanging up on a very unpleasantly shocked Karen!

Falso hung up for a familiar reason – he’s spending his wedding night with another woman! He walks into a bedroom complaining about how they just got married and already Karen is hounding him. We see the bed and he runs his fingers lingeringly up URSA’S leg!!! Ursa is in a red teddy and she comments that Falso must have strange tastes if he’s with a woman like Karen. She can’t believe he married that serpent and Falso says she knows things about him which are better off not coming to light. Ursa approaches and says it’s funny how they ended up here. Falso has always hated Memo and now he’s with his woman, who is very beautiful of course but not in his social class. Falso says he likes curvy dangerous women and Ursa says their mutual hatred for the Santos family brings them together. It’s good too, because they are stronger together! Falso agrees, together they are going to destroy that family. The talking ends and the making out begins…. Yuck!


Martin is hanging on and now Dani has joined Memo at the head of the bed, they talk about their commitment to their children as they hope together. Dani bends down and tells Martin to fight, they need him and they want him with them! They are going to be with him, Memo adds that he has his sister Isa too! Dani says a mom doesn’t have to have his blood and if he lets her, she wants to be his mom! He will grow up with his sister, his father and her. They will be a happy family! As Dani continues to talk, Martin’s heart reacts getting stronger and stronger. The nurse comes in and quickly leaves again calling the doctor as the machine begins to beep. Dani is afraid something is wrong and she tells the doctor that she was just touching him and talking to him but the doc says everything is okay, he’s stabilizing!!! It’s a miracle Dani exclaims turning to a shunned Memo, they hug as tears of joy slide down their cheeks!

 

Camino

This is my last recap for Camino! I have so enjoyed recapping this show and the lively discussions with the patio!

Thank you Diana and Rgv Chick for all your hard work, all the encouragement, all the laughter and most especially for your friendship. I've so enjoyed working with you both in recapping this crazy Camino! It's been a fun ride!

Thank you to all the patio for your comments, reactions, encouragements and feedback. There's no place like a Carey patio! It's such a joy to have a place to come to every day to share the silliness on screen of course, but also our laughter, theories, confusion, appreciation and all the other things. Camino has definitely given us plenty of fodder for all of the above!

Darcy, tonight’s events were a tidal wave of potential disaster which you captured with your ever present wit, warmth and wisdom. You waded through the treacherous water and relayed every heart stopping moment with clarity, sensitivity, and heart. Your sharp insight and ability to perfectly analyze the characters and their motivations has been a bright light through the anger and angst.

I loved “Eugenio comes charging in (sans white horse)” and “evil and eviler”.

Tonight, the tide started to turn and mercifully, there was much to give thanks for.

“the doc says everything is okay, he’s stabilizing!!! It’s a miracle Dani exclaims turning to a stunned Memo, they hug as tears of joy slide down their cheeks!” is proof positive. Dear Martin will be closely protected and his torment from Ursula will now end.

“A thrilled Amparo goes in for the reconciliation kiss which Eugenio returns enthusiastically and these two are back on!” The land and restaurant will stay with Amparo and she will stay with Eugenio.

Memo “wakes” to the dawning of realization of Ursula’s murderous intent. Toward her own son and Daniela.

Finally, Memo and Gaby are talking about the “the faulty brakes”. Late but not too late.

Leo’s joyous reaction to Chuchita’s news.

And yet, there is much to mourn.

Daniela’s painful recollection of Karen ensuring her children were never born and that she tried to kill her. Isabela’s fear her father won’t love her “because he’s going to have a real child”. My dear child, he never loved you at all.

Fausto still alive.

Ursula running rampant, injuring, hurting.

Sebastian still in a coma.

I’m not even going to comment on JuanPa. I’d rather focus on fierce, positive and dignified Natalia who emphasizes ability, not limitations.

I hope against hope Karen finds Fausto with Ursula! A spoonful of just desserts which will be most welcome.

Darcy, you saved the best for last; thank you for all of your amazing contributions. It was an honor being on this team with you and Rgv Chick. And we’re not done yet!

Rgv Chick - you did some truly spectacular reporting this week.

I can’t recall who said what but Karen is absolutely heartless to me & I think if she were to have a baby w Satan— neither would look at it twice, it would be raised by the Nanny etc.

As to Ursula, she must have had so much abuse and manipulation in her own life, that is all she knows. On a deep level she is aware that Memo is a good person, not like the other men in her life ie. Mac the Rat & Cesar, and in her absolute desperation to keep him - will do anything, even to harm her own child. She has showed zero remorse over what happened to Sebas, JuanPa & Gaby due to her brake job.

I agree w all the comments & after this TN I’ll take a summer break. I really found this to be darker and more twisted than I could imagine.

Gracias, Darcy, for a great recap. You got it all together.

Somehow I had the feeling through this story that Eugenio would ultimately lose his fortune. While he seems accepting of the situation I still feel that Satan and Countess Bathory are getting away with this. If those two aren't dead at the end I will be angry with these writers.

This also prompts me to wonder how many shares of the company are held in trust for Isabela. Daniela has the authority over those now.

Sebastian needs to live. Eugenio doesn't deserve to lose him, too.

I wonder whether the writers are also planning for Natalia to get JP.

Ursula deserves to die. She is too dangerous even if locked up in an asylum.

Perdona viewers: That recap will be written later when I am more awake. Expect it sometime tonight.

Thanks so much Darcy. An excellent recap of an episode that is finally giving us some hope. The bad guys are now on thin ice, although they don’t know it. I can’t wait to see their downfall.

I am in disbelief that Fausto is spending his wedding night with Ursula! How fitting that Karen has quickly become the neglected wife. The phrase “be careful what you wish for”. Is so true in this instance. It’s really hard to believe that Ursula has so little feelings for her own baby-make that no feelings.

With the cut brakes and medicine we can see Ursula’s finish. But for Karen it’s just Dani’s word against hers. Meanwhile, Karen has some proof against Fausto. Doris will have to turn up again.

I’m glad JP seems to be ready to restart his life. Hopefully Sebastian will wake up.

If Fausto and Karen are locked up I guess Isa ends up owning the company!

I hope there’s more than one episode left to accomplish all this! They never give us enough time to enjoy everyone being happy!

Darcy, I was finally able to watch this episode and read your detailed, spellbinding recap. You never miss a beat. I want to thank you for all your recaps . I remember your first post at caray , and the ups and downs you have faced since then while consistently giving us outstanding recaps of several novelas and interesting comments . Caray is a lovely place to " meet" people, and I am happy to have "met" you.

Well, it seems that this is the episode in which the writers have decided to turn a corner and let the good folks walk out of the gloomy doom and into the sunshine . ( I am writing this as the dismal day of rain continues here.)

I got a kick out of the actress playing Nelida really enjoying her scene by handling those vials and holding them up to gaze at them .

Eugenio continues to be the senior galan who is not bothered at all about losing his business . He is ready to put on an apron and join the love of his life in the kitchen . After seeing this actor play villains in several shows, I loved seeing him as a good guy and feel this is his real personna. Sebas must awaken because Eugenio deserves to have it all...his son, his love and her close, Loving, extended family. I believe in love . I believe in family . I believe good wins over evil .

JP has been detestable , but he is showing compassion for his friend Seb and getting help with his prothesis. He will come around and rehabilitate. I have always been around a lot of athletes , and they know how to cone back after an injury . I have often seen it . They know about determination and effort. He and Gaby will get their HEA as will Seb and faithful Lupita. As long as you have breath, you have hope.

We were never made aware of what kind of childhood Ursula had; come to think of it we were never made aware of Fausto's and Karen's upbringings either. The one that puzzles me the most is Karen--how can she be so different from Sebas; they grew up withthe same parents. Sometimes, I think that people can jus tbe innately MEAN and HEARTLESS!

Urban, "Somehow I had the feeling through this story that Eugenio would ultimately lose his fortune." Like Diana, that had never crossed my mind!" I can't believe he traded his shares for Amparo's entire property! I would think his shares would be much more valuable than that!

I can't believe this is going until next THURSDAY!! "See" y'all next week for the final episodes! Have a glorious week-end!

Susanlynn, "I got a kick out of the actress playing Nelida really enjoying her scene by handling those vials and holding them up to gaze at them ." Yes, but I kept shouting "why aren't you wearing gloves!?" They really messed up any good fingerprints those vials might have had.

Gracias, Darcy. I hung on every word. You weaved a fine recap as the tides start to turn in this tale. My favorite of many lines: "Eugenio gives evil and eviler a lecture about what’s truly important in life but it’s lost on these vultures."

I'm amazed that the SUV is still salvaged somewhere just waiting for its brakes to be examined after all this time.

Color me shocked that Fausto and Ursula are getting it on. I guess Fausto just has to cheat with some body. Anyhoo, hopefully we'll get to see Karen floored by this. She thinks she's the smartest person in this TN.

Whatever ultimate punishment is meted out to Ursula, I must first see someone throttle her and I hope it's Amparo and or Nelida doing it. Dani gave Karen a good slap, but she's too sensitive to give the beatdown I want.

JP, the clock is ticking. Make up with Gaby BEFORE the truth of the brakes comes out.

Vows, Lies, and Appearances: Dialogue as Needed Edition
Part 1 of 6

The padre continued his argument for his plan including the usual Catholic pitch for saving a baby. Armando listened and asked questions such as “Are you sure that the couple will live far away from here and that Elsa will not marry Andres?” The padre said Yes. Armando demanded that the couple not be from Mexico city and he would see to that. Their meeting ended when Armando realized that the padre would be the officiant of Aurora and Carlos' wedding.

Andres came to the hotel to ask Antonia to help him and Elsa during the wedding. He was going to enter the church and hide in one of the confessional booths. She was to tell Elsa where she could find him. She was afraid, but finally agreed.

Flor entered Armando's study where he told her that he was not going to put Elsa's life at risk. He was going to allow her to have the baby. Flor was thrilled and went on about how he would never regret this because the grandchild would bring pure happiness. He paused her and said she was to pack her bags and accompany Elsa to Sonora to Clemencia's ranch. Flor was shocked, as Clemencia was like a drill sergeant. “That is what Elsa needs,” he said. (Didn't get the next couple of lines) While Flor was not happy with what being there with Clemencia meant she was glad to be taking care of Elsa and the baby. Armando did not waver from his hatred of Andres and said that under no circumstances were any of the Martinez name find out or go near Elsa again. She agreed, but was not able to fully convince him. As she was about to exit he said that she as not to speak of this to anyone. When she spoke of the joy that this new baby would bring to the family, he made a fake smile that completely disappeared as soon as she had closed the door behind her.

Elsa had been told of the plan [Whose version?] and when Armando entered her room he told her she would need to pack her things because she would be going to Sonora in the morning. He asked if she wanted to go to the wedding and when she said Yes he told her she would go with him and her sister and she had better behave. She was never to encounter Andres and the birth of her baby is to be an absolute secret. She nodded, but he made her promise verbally. She did.

Padre Reynaldo was preparing his sermon when Guillermina entered. He took off his glasses as she asked if he needed help with the sermon. He told her he had Artemio for that. She actually ad the gall to ask how long he was going to be angry with her. “Don Armando has the right to know what is going on with his daughter. I only did what any good Christian would have done. When you said to do good I did the next time.” He asked what debt she owed Armando that she did this and she denied having any. “I only did what I consider correct although you think differently. Excuse me.” As she went into the chapel the bells began ringing.

Andres came in to talk to the padre.

The wedding guests were starting to enter. Domingo was formally dressed despite his condition but was managing well on his crutches. Angela was wearing a low neckline blue dress that was not entirely slutty. She approached Armando who mentioned that he was there to keep his eyes on Elsa.
She tried to say something that should not be overheard but he cut her off and went to exchange the usual pleasantries with someone else. Antonia came out and told Elsa that Andres was waiting in the confessional booth. She went inside but it was obvious that some of her friends had heard this.

Part 2 of 6

Andres opened the confessional screen, they kissed, and Elsa told him everything. They started talking about escaping in the early hours where she would need to climb out of her window. They had no other option. She had to get back to her family because the wedding would begin shortly. They kissed, he closed the confessional screen.

Aurora was crying in her room. Her dress was a lovely modern one-shoulder number and her veil did not cover her face. Meche came in wearing a nice pale blue summery dress. Neither wore any flashy jewelry. Aurora stopped crying and put on her best face which lasted until Meche handed the bouquet to her and left, saying that the car was waiting.

Andres' phone pinged as he entered his home. He was in the middle of texting a reply when Fuentes arrived, saying that his case had become more complicated. He was under arrest for the attempted rape of Aurora Montero. He was cuffed by two uniformed cops and dragged out to the police car under protest. Fuentes reminded him to be silent because his words could be used against him. He was driven back in an official police car while Fuentes left the scene in his unmarked vehicle.

Aurora and Meche arrived in a restored vintage car. She was met by Gerardo who escorted her inside. Horacio said something that got the attention of one of their good buddies and he had to say “No, I just said she's pretty.” All the guests were inside as Gerardo escorted Aurora down the aisle. Armando looked sad that he was not the one escorting her. At the altar Gerardo wished his sister a happy life [He certainly knows the alternative.] He exchanged a bro-hug with Carlos and the ceremony began.

Silvia knocked on Estela's door, but got no answer. She entered with he key and discovered Estela was not there.

As the ceremony began Estela entered the rear of the church dressed like a Greek widow and wearing dark glasses. She ducked out of sight but a second too late; Angela spotted her. She told Armando “Estela is here,” and he turned around to look. Everyone stood for a prayer and Estela slipped out. Armando looked toward the rear exit but he missed her. Elena was doing a reading.

Estela made it back to the hotel and was noticed by Antonia. Silvia sent Antonia down to reception and went to Estela's room. Once inside Estela told her she had to see her children. She hurt when she saw Domingo with his crutches. Silvia reminded her that this had been an accident. It had happened when she had caught Armando and Angela en flagrante delicto. She said they were responsible for this and she would make them pay. [We are itching to see you become seriously badass!]

As the padre continued the ceremony and got to the part of “till death do us part” Aurora managed to smile until she saw Horacio's sad face and his tie not at full attention. She turned back to Carlos, smiled, and they both said Yes. Angela whispered to Armando about whether he saw Estela but he said she slipped out.

Estela talked to Silvia about her situation. Armando would be causing trouble. Estela knew that most of her children want her back in their lives except for Elena who favored her father. She believed that Armando had always been able to manipulate her. She was hoping that once Elena knew the truth she would come to reason. [We have our doubts about that.] Silvia felt that time would take care of that.

The ceremony ended without interruption. Carlos and Aurora were married. They exited the church amid applause by the guests except for Horacio, who slipped out on the side aisle.

Andres was forced into a cell at the police station. Fuentes chuckled then asked “Trying to rape your own sister. Did you do that for revenge or pleasure?” Andres denied this without losing his cool. Fuentes said that Aurora testified that he was trying to remove her clothes. He replied that she was protecting her mother and that woman was crazy. Fuentes got angry, saying he would not permit him to talk that way about Angela, saying “This woman is a lady. You had better prepare yourself. Nobody will save you. You are going to prison.” Andres' expression was between confusion and analytical. “And don't expect any good will from other prisoners.”

Carlos and Aurora danced first. It ended in a dip and a kiss. Applause from the guests, to be followed by Meche dancing with Carlos, who then called Horacio up to the floor to dance with his new sister-in-law. Horacio could not resist saying that he wished she had married him instead of Carlos. Horacio had to dance with Angela, which was not to either's liking, but they agreed that appearances must be maintained. Which Angela didn't not think was successful, as Lamberto didn't even speak to her. The ink wasn't dry on the decree. He suggested she dance with Armando and she demurred, saying they were strictly business and Armando was still upset about Domingo's accident. Hector mentioned a piece of gossip which caused her to say “What are you talking about? Estela is my best friend! I've never in my life hurt her.” Gerardo came over to remind her not to overdo and they left the dance floor. Elsa then approached Hector and asked about her mother. He didn't want to risk talking about her there and said “Tomorrow is better.” She told him that she was being taken back to the Magdalene asylum in the morning. They left the dance floor.

A boy (Ephrain) delivered an envelope to Doña Clemencia who told her godson that it was from Armando who was her sobrino politico. She said she would need help. “He was sending his no-good daughter to her to get straightened out. Who knows what she's done? What happened with that girl?” She sent Ephrain back to the house to advise his mother of this.

Armando got a drink from the bar and congratulated Lamberto on Aurora's wedding. Lamberto was in no mood to hear any pretense of friendship from him. Armando denied that anything had happened between himself and Angela but Lamberto would not be gaslit. He told him that he had filed for divorce and Angela would be free to be with anyone else....”now that you have Estela in that clinic.” Armando disavowed any responsibility for Lamberto's issues with Angela and suggested he get therapy for his insecurities. Lamberto told him to go to hell. Both had enough self-control for this not to become violent.

Silvia sneaked Elsa up to Estela's room and left them alone. Elsa told her what happened recently and while Estela was happy to hear she would soon be a grandmother she warned Elsa to be careful around her father “because he has a black heart.” Elsa told her she was being sent to Clemencia's ranch so the people of San Juan don't know about this. She told her that she and Andres were going to escape that night and leave town. They had no other choice. Estela got upset at being a virtual prisoner herself and could not help. Elsa told her she would be alright and not to worry. [Poor girl is going to be in for a horrible shock]. Estela gave her the maternal blessing and said “You're right. You do need to leave. I'm proud that you can face life with so much courage.” She told her about her other siblings. Estela said now was not the time because she needed to recover the strength to deal with Armando.

Andres demanded his right to a phone call.

Armando got his children away from the table to talk to Angela about her having seen Estela. However, Elena came back to the table and asked “What happened with my mother?” Armando said “Nothing” and some other BS and asked about the other kids. Elena had just been with the younger ones but not Elsa. Armando told her to look for her. When she left he continued the disagreement with Angela who had raised her voice a couple of times, cautioning her to be more discreet. She wasn't drunk so she should have known better. He finally gave up and got up from the table.

Elena went to reception to ask if they had seen Elsa. Silvia said No and suggested she check the ladies' room. Silvia left reception and Antonia's phone rang. It was Andres telling her what happened to him. He just managed to tell her to tell their mother before the observing cop ordered him to hang up.

Silvia knocked and told Elsa that Elena was looking for her. Elsa and her mother said their goodbyes and hugged. Silvia went back down to reception and got the bad news about Andres. She told Antonia she would go to the police station. She immediately told Lamberto who insisted on accompanying her.

Elsa came back to the hall and Elena demanded to know where she was. When Elsa answered that she was in the restroom Elena called her a liar. She told Elena “Obviously you didn't search well enough.” Elena did not say anything and Elsa said “I was crying because my sister doesn't love me even a little.” She then mocked Elena by saying she was going to say goodbye to her friends and she would make sure she could see her.

Angela cornered Armando in an adjacent room and he was not pleased that she was looking to get jiggy at such an event. He asked her if she had filed charges against Andres and she said she had. He mocked the situation of her filing charges against her daughter's half-brother after having stabbed him. The attempted homicide charge didn't stick? She said it did not. “I was defending my daughter.” He said he was not making fun of this. She said it was a letter-opener, not a knife. He apologized (perhaps not sincerely) and promised that together they would see that Andres went to prison.

The girls all toasted Aurora to wish her a happy marriage. Elsa actually told Aurora she was pregnant. She wished Aurora a happy marriage. A second later Aurora was exchanging looks with Horacio. A second later than that Elsa walked in on her father and Angela. She called him out on his hypocrisy about her pregnancy vs his adultery with his wife's best friend. Angela tried to gaslight her by the usual “This isn't what it looks like” routine. She replied “I'm misinterpreting nothing. Do you think I'm blind? What do you think my siblings would think to see you kissing this... shameless woman?” “You must respect me” said Angela [Madame, you have more chutzpah than you deserve.]. “I don't have to respect a woman like you.” “You don't talk to me like that – ” Armando put his hand on Angela's shoulder and said “You don't have to create a scandal” then asked Elsa “Nothing happened here. Where were you?” Elsa ignored that and said. “Of course For you it's easy, isn't it? Now I understand. For this one you locked up my mother. It finally occurred to me!” “Don't talk to your father like that!” “I'm glad to be going away from this town. I don't want to deal with your hypocrisy.” She left the room followed by Armando's shouted “Where were you?”

Silvia and Lamberto listened to Fuentes reading out the charge. Lamberto said “They are both my children. Andres would never rape her!” Fuentes said “That isn't what Aurora or her mother said.” Silvia said they both lied and what about the attempted murder charge? Now I need to say my son” Fuentes said that the law decides the charges. When Lamberto pointed out that both Aurora and Angela lied Fuentes said “The judge will decide that, not I.” No bail allowed for a charge like this. All there would be to do is wait for a judgment. Andres would be in solitary confinement for the duration.

At the dinner table Armando told the younger children that Elsa would be returning to the “boarding school.” The younger children protested, saying that Elsa needed to take care of them until their mother returned. He told them that Elena and Gerardo would be staying. Elena was grinning her nasty victory at this. Sofia protested and refused to eat. Elena shot her back with “Sofia...” as though she were about to scold her. Armando played Good Cop to Elena's Bad Cop by asking Sofia to not become rebellious before picking up his fork.

Andres sat in the cell, the sun disappearing through the shaded window outside the cell. Silvia entered the cell block as she was told she had five minutes. He could not have remained quiet about Angela's attempt on his life. She told him that they had to prove his innocence. Lamberto is getting him a lawyer and he was not to refuse this. He only wanted the truth to come out but he doubted that it would because “She hates me.”

Armando went up to Elsa's room. She had not changed for bed nor had she begun packing her suitcase. She was looking to decide what to pack. She asked what he was thinking since she had caught him in the act with Angela. He gave a non-answer, saying that her Tia Clemencia is expecting her. “Your nerve has no limits,” she aid. He left the room.

Hector hugged Carlos and Aurora and told them to have a good time on their honeymoon. Aurora graciously thanked him for the lovely wedding. Her expression changed when Horacio stepped forward to give his good wishes. [He doesn't give up, does he? Horacio watched the car drive away. When it was out of sight one of the friends said to him “Time to look for another girlfriend.” Horacio said “No.” “You can't?” “No, I don't want to.” “You have to forget her. Carlos doesn't deserve this.”

Andres asked the uniformed cop what time it was. 12:15AM. The cop left the cell block. Andres sank to the floor at the corner of the cell and cried. In her room Elsa sat on the bed looking occasionally at her watch. When the rays of dawn began she closed the curtains.

If anyone as difficulty reading the dialogue, let me know. Indentation on a new line is what I would prefer to do but the comments section makes that very difficult. I also worry about what more blank lines would do.

The dinner table scene near the end of the episode makes me wonder whether Armando's favoring Elena isn't a smoke screen and she is too self-centered to see this. What do you guys think?

No surprises here. Considering the ranch and "legendary" Clemencia, Elsa might be going from the frying pan into the fire.

Are we supposed to feel sorry for Horacio? He acted like a jerk.

Life lesson to be learned by Andrés and Elsa: You got to get going when the going is good.

Seriously, I think that, when push comes to shove, Armando only cares for himself and will do what he wants or needs to maintain his image even if it be only in his own head. I think he feels the same about everyone as he does about Angela. They are only there to serve his needs.

Urban, excellent, just excellent. You always pick just the right conversations to translate. The way you relate the dialog is clear and concise and greatly appreciated.

Like Jarifa, I also enjoyed “We are itching to see you become seriously badass!”

“Fuentes got angry, saying he would not permit him to talk that way about Angela, saying “This woman is a lady”. Really?? That’s rich.

Armando’s ego, entitlement and self-righteousness are nauseating. He had not the slightest bit of embarrassment, shame or guilt when Elsa caught him macking Angela.

“Armando played Good Cop to Elena's Bad Cop”. Something untoward must have happened between him and Elena. She is almost slavish in her devotion. And yes, he is capitalizing on that for all it’s worth.

Aurora made her choice. Horacio should have accepted it instead of acting like a rejected suitor which has not gone unnoticed.

Poor Elsa. Poor Andres. He already in prison, she surely headed for something similar.

Urban, thank you for every detail as the villains continue to relentlessly manipulate the good characters.

Jorge is playing Armando as a grim,joyless,unscrupulous ogre with absolutely no redeeming qualities .

Add delusional Angela and creepy Fuentes to the mix and you get quite a scary trio.

What is in store for Elsa? Who is Clemencia? She seemed harsh and nasty. Will Elsa's time with her make her wish that she was back at that bleak school? Will she have an ally like the one she had at the school?

Estela was foolish to go to the church after Hector finally managed to take her away from the manicomia. Sylvia and Hector are great allies,, but she has to be careful.


How long will Gerardo put up with nasty , elitist Daddy's Girl Elena?

I was so mad at Estela risking everything to sneak into the wedding. I hope nothing more comes of this.

I really thought Elsa catching Armando and Angela would give her some leverage and she could convince her dad to let her stay home. And why didn’t Andre s tell his mom or sister to let Elsa know he was in jail. I don’t have much hope for him with three people wanting him to remain in jail. Does Fuentes really think Angela is a lady. That made me think of that saying, That’s no way to treat a lady”.

Elena doesn’t seem popular with any of her siblings, which is no surprise. And Estela knows she’s easily manipulated by her dad. I hope Estela is plotting a great way to get even!

Is Flor going to stay with Elsa? That’s what it sounded like. So Elsa will have someone to help her. Maybe Elsa’s charm will win over Clemencia!

I'm glad to see the younger kids rising up. I'm guessing (hoping) that Elena won't be able to handle them.

I liked Andres's boss back in Mexico City. I'm wondering if we've seen the last of him since Andres can't get back to work.

It seems to me a district attorney or something would need to press charges and Angela's and Aurora's word are just words with no evidence. Whereas Andres' chest wound and treatment are real evidence. I hope the DA isn't corrupt and that Andres doesn't get "lost" in a holding cell.

Fuentes is slipping. His cray cray is starting to show in daylight.

Aurora marries to get away from home and gives not a twit about what will happen to Andres, and by extension, Elsa.

Jarifa, you are so right about lessons learned. Elsa and Andres should have run the day after Christmas.

Estela needs a break. While we all wanted Hector to get her some clothes that enabled her to leave and risk being seen. He should get her checked into a hotel far away. She knows she is in danger.

Aurora needs to grow up and Angela wasn't allowing her to. That's how it is with narcissistic women when they have daughters.

Diana, I amend my opinion of Fuentes. I am not sure he really knows the difference between a lady and a slut. Angela may dress like a lady but she behaves like a slut. This makes my wonder how much the rest of the town knows about her. She tempts fate every time she lures Armando into nooky anywhere other than their Lust Nest. Fuentes might get off on turning normal women into sluts; he treated her like one on the night he bargained for. He is probably looking for more nooky while knowing that it will be harder to get.

As for what he said to Andres, he is probably playing with his head.

We still wonder how Gerardo is so normal.

Armando does come off as a heartless monster most of the time. The writers thus far seem to be trying to send him in the same direction as Fausto of Camino and this is seriosly unworthy of the actor.

Armando has many things in common with Ernesto of Te Doy la Vida: Son of a servant, did well on a scholarship, effective in business, and has a jealous streak a mile wide. I am guessing he was abused as a child, may have been bullied in school. What we don't know yet is whether he has changed his name either just to disassociate from his past or whether to cover up anything criminal but... it's early yet.

Which poses the question about how easy or difficult it is in Mexico to change your name.

I think he wants his children to love him, but doesn't really know how. Thus far he has not abused his younger children in any obvious way except lying to them about what is up with their mother and older sisters. Did he love Estela on their wedding day? When did the control freak behaviour begin?

We need answers.
