I will be doing a short mini-recap of tonight's episode. On the carelessness of the Casillas family again: OMG can they be this incompetent ?
Let's hope Aurelio can figure out that Psycho Tracy is exposed as the FAKE Redhead.
I check Caray from time to time to see if there is anything interesting upcoming. I went to Wikipedia for a little info on Juego de Mentiras. No real spoilers there yet, but I did notice something interesting in the references. There was an article from People en Espanol that mentioned trailers.
I went there and watched both trailers, Juego de Mentiras and El Conde, and they both had English language subtitles. If the aired episodes have them it could be really helpful if you can manage to avoid reading them all the time rather than watching the telenovela :-)
Do Telemundo novelas usually have English subtitles?
Personally, I don't have that much interest in Juego de Mentiras, but El Conde looks more interesting and has Ana Brenda to boot :-)
I have no idea when it will start airing though.
Andy
Andy, I don't know about English subtitles. I use the Spanish ones pretty regularly, especially for a novela I'm recapping. There may be English subtitles. My TV is not that new. I can only get closed captions on CC2. I seem to recall other people mentioning being able, on Telemundo and perhaps also on Univision, to choose CC3, which is where the English captions were when people mentioned them here on Caray. Who knows, maybe TVs are so smart now that none of those names for captions are even needed anymore.
Prime time novelas on Telemundo have English captions on CC3. They show it in the corner of the screen at the beginning of a show. I think it's smart to have them available. I've talked people into watching who have less understanding of Spanish than I do. I remember a brief time when Uni had shows with English caps available, but not so much now.
Wow!! They made a massive edit to the Turkish original that completely changed the ending into an HEA! The original had a terrible ending. Changed ending or not, I thought the show wasn't that good.
Dondi, I'd love to know what Telemundo chose to cut. I was gnashing my teeth for the last few episodes because I was rooting for Asiye to end up with Mahir. Of course, Zuhal's pregnancy made me doubt this; but I wondered if they'd be "modern" and have Mahir just parent the twins and not marry her. The last episode stunk. Almost no tension, just weddings and smiles. I was also pretty sick of Nergis' adoration of her father. She almost bulldozed her mother in to re-marrying him.
What a surprise - a happy ending! I almost couldn't watch last night, expecting that something bad would happen. That was plenty of tension for me. So glad we didn't get the original ending, although I am curious to know what it was.

Novelera, Dondi356, Andy, Carmella, SpanProf & Co.,: Here's a short mini-recap of tonight's episode:
*DEA Boss goes off on the other DEA agents, who are being scolded because Corina took classified information from DEA Headquarters LOL.
*The stupidity of the Casillas family continues as they're falling into huge traps OMG. We see Aurelio & Ishmael meeting with Crazy Tracy & her Lackey, both of whom masquerading as drug trafficking business partners.
*Colon & Castillo arrest some Venezuelan Senator I think at the airport. That Senator is taken to DEA Headquarters for questioning.
*Psycho Jaime takes Dahlila to dinner. What does he have planned for her 🤔 ?
*Ritula & Mecha are taking drinks at Mecha's restaurant in Mexicali.
*Flashbacks showing Mecha & Aurelio getting their freak on.
*Isturiz, Computer Hacker Dude, Diana, Ishmael's Mommy (I forgot her name), Berenice are discussing strategy.
*No appearance from Karla eh 🤔
*Corina going rogue as usual. Can Telemundo give this woman a spin-off TV Show please ?
*Colon & Castillo interrogating some Venezuelan Senator at DEA Headquarters again: Fast Forward.
*Is it possible Isturiz & Berenice become a couple ?
*Crazy Tracy has flashbacks of her groping Aurelio's body. She's a bloody freak OMG.
*Creepy Old Man with the hat & his possee planning something along with Creey Aguirre.
*Laura speaks with Diana at the hospital over something quite intriguing.
*Gut feeling we'll be seeing Cabo again as Season 8 goes along.
*Super Javi, Felina & Co., flying either back to the outskirts of Mexico City or somewhere at the Casillas family ranch in some secluded hideout.

#1 – Parte 1 de 5
San Clemente, California – 60 miles south of Los Angeles
We begin with some people singing Las Mañanitas, the Latinamerican version of the Happy Birthday song. A child brings a cake forward with the number 30 on top, with each digit being a candle.
Elvira Gómez, the mother of César Ferrar is speaking softly to her son. “How your wife has changed since the two of you got married. You do so much for her, and she doesn’t even thank you. It looks like she doesn’t even want to be here.”
Flashback to the wedding of César Ferrer and Adriana Molina. It’s on the beach, beside the Pacific, and with only the two of them and a priest.
César tells his mother that maybe his marriage isn’t perfect, but he loves his wife. When their child, Noelia – 8 years old, tells Adriana that she loves her, Adriana tells her that she (Noelia) loves her father more. While Adriana leans forward to blow out her candles, Noelia asks her mother to make a wish. Viewerville can hear her unspoken thoughts:
“Salir de esta miseria en que todos me odian. Que Noelia me perdone algún día por no saber ser una buena madre y que César encuentre una mujer que lo sepa amar de verdad.” [I wish that I could get away from this poverty where everyone hates me. That Noelia could someday forgive me for not knowing how to be a good mother and that César would find a woman who knows how to truly love him.]
Los Angeles, California
Camila del Rio is orchestrating an auction of art works. Some friends off to the side say that it’s a shame that such a fine person is still single. Camila announces that, with the funds raised at the auction, the Del Rio Foundation will open a third kindergarten for disadvantaged children. Camila thanks her team for all their hard work. Some kids, presumably beneficiaries of the foundation, come out and sing Cielito Lindo for Camila.
In San Clemente Adriana looks at a framed photo of she and César. She gripes that she’s not the most important person in his life; now it’s his daughter. She tells César that the guests at her party only came to gossip about her and eat cake. She yells loudly that she feels suffocated “here” She asks him what happened to them. “You used to be unpredictable, adventurous, crazy. We were crazy in love!” César says that they aren’t kids any more and one of the two of them had to mature.
Adriana tells César that they were the happiest and most in love couple in the world…until his daughter arrived. He tells her not to insert his daughter into this. “It’s not her fault that her mother isn’t happy with her life." We see the two of them in the same bed, back to back and not touching.
#1 – Parte 2 de 5
First Day of the Disappearance In the morning César writes an excuse for Noelia arriving late to school. He rushes her out the door, telling her that her mother has a headache when she wants to say goodbye. César stops in front of the school, and the two play an apparently frequent game of who loves who the most. After she gets out of the truck, he notices spilled cereal and bends over the passenger seat. He finds a business card of Renata del Rio on the carpet of his truck.
The next scene is of that very woman outside her mansion in Los Angeles. She’s giving orders to someone, maybe a caterer, about the details of a party that night for her wedding anniversary. When Camila del Rio approaches her mother, Renata tells the caterer that her daughter should be having children, not working for underprivileged ones. Renata then insists that a guy named Chuy do some work in preparation for the party. He pleads with her, saying he has an important exam. But she won’t let him leave for it.
Renata’s son, Tomás, tells her that Paco urgently needs her in the office. There’s a problem with the gas report.
Pascual del Rio (Big Ed Yáñez) arrives at the office and hustles his assistant, Eva Rojas, into an office and closes the blinds. She tries to escape him, smiling. She mentions needing to send that gas report. And, if it isn’t done, all their flights could be stopped. She’s bought his wife Renata’s anniversary present. She says it needed armed guards to deliver it. The elder son, Francisco, comes in and is shown the necklace. Pascual says it cost him un ojo de la cara. Francisco is impressed and says that, to get something like that, any woman would figure out a way to put up with his father for 35 years.
Francisco tells his father he wants to break off with his fiancé. Pascual replies that both his mother and he himself feel that it’s not a good time to end things with Alejandra Edwards. “She’s powerful, and it suits them to have her on their side.”
In San Clemente César is at work. It looks like he owns a furniture making facility. He gets a call from the school. Adriana hasn’t picked up Noelia at the end of the school day. When César picks her up, she’s worried about her mother. César calls Adriana’s place of work. Some rude guy tells him that she quit 3 months ago!
That evening Noelia suggests that her father look at her mother’s “Lifebook”. [Guess Mark Zuckerberg didn’t let them use the name.] César says that Noelia’s mother hated social media. The child replies that her mother had a Likebook account. We see a flashback to Noelia surprising Adriana on that site. After the child is in bed, César tries to get into Adriana’s laptop. The third password try, Noelia1993, finally works. He finds car rental information, fancy clothes purchases, and a ticket from Los Angeles to Madrid. He also finds a web site for Marina del Molino, who is really Adriana Molino. After we see César’s appalled face, we also see a flashback of Adriana ranting to him about how bad social media is, especially for children.
#1 – Parte 3 de 5
Scrolling away on her web site, César finds a photo of “Marina” with Francisco del Rio, who has a champagne flute in his hand. He remembers the business card of Renata del Rio, with the company shown as JetAir. “Who are these people?”
At the big anniversary party Renata gives a short speech. When Pascual begins to say something she tells him, under her breath, not to bore the people with one of his long speeches. Alejandra, Francisco’s fiancée, shows up and greets Chuy and his mother Olga in a very friendly manner. Olga remarks to her son that she’s worked there since the del Rios were married. Chuy looks a bit interested in Alejandra.
Alejandra seems to be running for Senator, whether U.S. Senator or State Senator isn’t said. Also Renata says something to the younger son, Tomás, about his not drinking, and he replies that he’s 27 days sober. [Why do I think this won’t last?]
Eva Rojas, Pascual’s assistant, goes into a bathroom, and Pascual follows her in. He kisses her some and then says he just wants un rapidito. He’s put her up beside the sink when his daughter, Camila, suddenly opens the bathroom doors and sees what’s almost happening. She gives him a withering look and rushes away.
Camila goes to her bedroom, appalled, and her father walks right in. She tells him he’s trying to be unfaithful to her mother in the middle of their anniversary celebration! He tries to wiggle out of it, saying there’s no intimacy any more between his mother and him.
Second Day of the Disappearance César wakes up, alone. Then he goes to the police station where he encounters a wannabe Colombo to whom he tries to report that his wife is missing. This guy is beyond unsympathetic. He chews bubble gum while César runs over some possible reasons why she’s not at home: having drowned because she swims often in the ocean, she’s been assaulted during a robbery.
In Los Angeles Pascual greets his 3 children at breakfast. Camila gets away from him fast. Her mother tells her that she’s hung over.
Wikipedia tells me that the poor excuse for a cop is called Elvis Barros. He’s come to César’s house. He wanders around like he owns the place and then kind of gives a lustful look at a picture of Adriana. César is starting to be SO over this guy. He asks him why they aren’t out in the streets looking for his wife. He tells Barros that he suspects Adriana didn’t tell him she’d quit her job because the boss was sexually harassing her.
#1 – Parte 4 de 5
César brings Noelia to stay with his mother for the day. He’s planning on some detecting of his own.
He has come to his furniture shop to show the laptop to his assistant, who’s apparently quite tech savvy. He tells the guy that the web site is like it’s for another person. The younger guy gets into her emails. There’s one from Francisco del Rio. César recognizes the name from “Likebook”. Francisco’s email says that “things have changed. Let’s get together at the Princesas del Diablo.”
Cesar goes to this place and finds out it’s a strip club. And…one of the posters on the wall is of his wife. The poster says it’s of Diana de Nadie. He’s shocked, but goes inside. Two women are pole dancing. Cesar approaches one of them asking about Francisco. Her name is Rocío (Aylin Mújica). Some guy named Pluto, the one who told him to go inside, puts a gun to his head. César wrests it away and runs to his truck. Nasty Pluto grabs a gun from another guy and fires at the truck.
Francisco del Rio looks at his phone. “What happened to you, my love?” Fernanda shows up. She says she’ll now be able to help them with the issue of the toxic gases. She’ll take that career risk because he’s her future husband. Just then he gets a call. It’s from the awful Pluto, who’s reporting that some idiot came there asking about Francisco, one César Ferrer.
Renata talks with her daughter. She guesses what’s bothering Camila and tells her she’s always known about Pascual’s infidelities. She tries to justify staying with him because of her children needing a father.
The female cop comes to César’s door and tells him that he needs to come with her. The next scene is César in Barros’ office. The guy is talking about an affair. It’s hard to tell which one he means, but after a while the gist is that he’s talked to the neighbors about Adriana. Barros tells him to wake up…his wife wanted a divorce. He goes on to ask if it’s true he threatened his wife with taking her child away if she left him. César’s jaw drops. Barros tells him he’s beginning to suspect that he killed her. “When a woman disappears, the husband is always the prime suspect.”
Barros tells César to cooperate. When César says he’s doing just that, the jerk says he wants to interrogate Noelia. César is furious and tells him he’d need a court order to do that.
Third Day of the Disappearance Francisco tells his mother he wants to break it off with Alejandra now that the deal is closed. He means the certification of the emission of gases, something Alejandra has done for his family and for him. He tells Renata he’s in love with another woman.
César calls his mother and asks her to take Noelia somewhere. He doesn’t want the police to find her.
#1 – Parte 5 de 5
Barros “interviews” the young woman who was at Adriana’s birthday party. He hints that she could be killed by a murderer who has already killed his wife. She looks at him like something she scraped off her shoe and says that César isn’t a killer and that she isn’t César’s lover. She tells him to question some more reliable witnesses. He asks her if she had a fight with Adriana. She looks surprised. And we get another flashback:
Adriana catches up to this woman and slaps her across the face, hard. ¡Te lo regalo! [I give him to you!] Because I don’t like traitors. The woman tells Barros about this, and that Adriana was a bad woman. He questions her about the use of the past tense. She says that she knows César would never give her a second glance, so they are not lovers. And she also tells him that Adriana never loved her daughter.
In Los Angeles César is outside of the del Rio mansion. He calls Noelia. Then the high-tech carpenter’s assistant calls. He reports that the family del Rio owns an aviation company. He discovered that Renata’s daughter is running the family foundation. He sends César a picture of Camila.
The female cop, Márquez, shows Barros a street camera video of César’s truck at 4 AM on the night of the disappearance. She says that César lied; they didn’t stay asleep all night like he said.
César comes into the entryway of what I think is the Del Rio mansion. He speaks to Camila’s assistant, Ines. He says he’s come to ask about a person who works here.
Barros sends the whole squad out to look for César. He’s sure that the video showed him on the way to bury his wife’s corpse.
Francisco is talking to Alejandra who’s asking him for a good date for their wedding. He gets a call. It’s one of those computer altered voices telling him that Marina de Molina lied to him. She’s not a millionaire, and she’s married. Her husband is going to kill her if he hasn’t already done so. “Find her before he does!”
César asks Ines if there’s a person here working as a volunteer named Marina de Molina. Ines recognizes the name. Camila shouts for Ines in a frightened voice. César follows Ines. There’s a bloody body inside a room. César says…not out loud but to himself…”Adriana”
Gran final edits part 1
Are you sure you want to know, novelera and Beth S.? They only showed half of the Turkish final. There was about 1 hour and 10 minutes’ worth of show after the wedding scene.
Flashback--Helin overhears that Asiye and Cemal are getting married. On the day of the wedding, she sits outside their home in her car, getting drunk. She sneaks into the house and confronts Asiye in her bedroom, and locks them in. Helin blames Asiye for ruining her life… yada… yada… yada… and then she pulls a gun on her.
Meanwhile, Mahir notices that Helin’s car is parked outside, and he rushes to warn Cemal. Cemal rushes up to the bedroom.
Asiye pleads with Helin to put the gun down. Helin says she will give Asiye a wedding present she will never forget… a guilty conscience for the rest of her life. “I will pull the trigger, but you are the one who killed me.” Helin turns the gun on herself, placing it under her chin.
Cemal makes it to the locked door and calls out to Asiye. He tries in vain to get in. Helin answers him that she’s with Asiye and she’s shaking with fear. Cemal pleads with her to calm down and open the door so they can talk. She tells him she has a gun. He starts shouting and warns her not to do anything she will regret.
Asiye tries to reason with Helin, telling her to remember her son…” don’t ruin his life just to punish us. Don’t leave him without a mother.” Helin blames Asiye for taking her son away, too. Asiye reaches for the gun and a struggle ensues. There’s a shot. Cemal is stunned for a second. The wedding guests outside hear the shot as well.
Cemal breaks down the door and a wounded Asiye falls into his arms, blood staining her white dress. Everyone rushes to the bedroom. Panic, shouting and crying. Nergis is especially hysterical. Asiye is unconscious.
To the hospital--- more crying and Nergis hysterics. Surprisingly, Cemal stays relatively calm, trying to reassure his kids that their mom will be alright.
Crazy Helin has the nerve to show up at the hospital. She tells everyone it was an accident, she was really trying to kill herself. The cops take her to the station to give her statement.
Zuhal calls Raci to give him the news. The Demirhans are stunned. [Yes, Nedret, your daughter did this.]
Hospital tropes: Asiye is in the ICU, it’s critical, the doctors are doing all they can, prepare for the worst. Everyone sobs. The poor kids are distraught. Cemal walks down the hall so he can cry out of sight. Mahir tries to comfort him.
Gran final edits part 2
The Demirhans go to the police station. The cops have all the facts. The lawyer says Helin’s fate depends on what happens to Asiye. If Asiye dies, Helin could be charged with manslaughter by negligence.
Typical vigil at the hospital. Suddenly Cemal feels a pain in his chest just as Asiye flatlines. They try to revive her. Everyone bangs on the ICU window and shouts and cries for Asiye. Asiye is pronounced dead.
Cemal and the kids burst into the ICU. They scream and cry at Asiye’s bedside. Cemal channels Miran. He and Nergis collapse to the floor in grief. Ugur climbs in bed with his mom. He kisses her and asks her to open her eyes. [that was sad]
Funeral services at the mosque and at the cemetery. More sadness.
Cemal and the kids go home. There are pictures and other reminders of Asiye all around. More tears.
A year later, Nergis is tending to Asiye’s grave. She tells her mother what’s happening with everyone. She’s applying to college. Helin wasn’t charged because it was ruled an accident. She got psychological help. She’s living with her guilt and her mother in a tiny seaside town. Cemal got custody of Ahmet.
I think we saw the others: Mahir married Zuhal, they have twin girls. Meral is with Raci.
Cemal is doing his best to take care of the kids. He cooks and bakes. But there’s always a sadness in his eyes.
When Nergis takes the boys to the movies, Cemal looks at the wedding video that Nergis took. He sees that Asiye filmed her own message to him at the end. “Don’t watch this part with the kids, she advises, so they don’t make fun of me saying that I love you. Today I start a new life with you. I never loved anyone but you. You always said we were destined to be together. I always believed that. You left when it was raining, but you came back on a sunny morning. I can’t say my feelings as loud as you, but I am saying it now. Are you ready? “Seni çok seviyorum”, I love you very much. I always did, and I’ll love you forever”.
Teary Cemal replies to the screen, me too. I will love only you. Asiye places her hand to her lips and gives a kiss and Cemal reciprocates. He reaches out to touch the screen as Asiye reaches out to touch the camera. Asiye can’t shut the camera and it keeps recording as Cemal enters the bedroom. “I’m supposed to marry the most beautiful woman in the world, he tells her. They walk out arm in arm. There are flashbacks to the beginning of their story. The dizi ends there.
Nergis was mostly unwatchable. The two little boys were very cute. Zahide was just as aggravating as Mukaddes was in Fatmagul. The actress is great with these types of characters. I also wanted Asiye and Mahir together. It should have been their HEA. Unbelievable that Asiye could still love and forgive Cemal. If they had to kill someone, it should have been him. I felt the same disgust for him as I felt for Miran. Or maybe it’s just the Akın factor.
Novelera, thank you for that amazing recap. I was going to watch earlier but I had a busy day, so I'm glad you wrote a recap about it. I'll watch the actual episode later.
So, quite a lot of characters in the first episode
This is what I like about Telemundo telenovelas. Things are happening fast.
I did NOT expect the strip club plot twist. I have feeling this Rocío character will play an important role later...
That cop sure is awful. Yes, he has to investigate the possibility of César being the killer, but he just like the story and stuck with it without looking at the other possibilities.
Here's my attempt at the family trees (please correct me if I make a mistake):
César Ferrer was married to Adriana/Mariana Molina and they have a daughter, Noelia. César's mother is Elvira Gómez.
Renata del Río is married to Pascual del Río and they have 3 kids, Camila, Tomás and Fransisco. Pascual is cheating on Renata with his assistant, Eva Rojas. Fransisco is engaged to Alejandra Edwards and he's staying with her because she has power, even though he loves someone else. Inés is Camila's assistant.
There's also a dude called Chuy and his mom Olga, who are working for the del Ríos. Oh and Rocío in the strip club and Pluto who works for del Ríos also. Oh, and the cops, Elvis Barros and this Márques woman.
I have a headache...
Wow! Thanks VERY much, novelera, for this wonderfully detailed and helpful recap of the opening episode. I definitely needed it to put things together and keep the characters straight.
I don't have much to add to what you and Weirdo have said. Though occasionally the seeming good guy turns out to be the killer, I don't think that will be the case here with Cesar. That's about as far as I've gotten in figuring out the plot. :-)
One question. In part 4 of your recap, you mention someone named Fernanda. I don't recall a Fernanda. Did you mean Alejandra?
And thanks, too, to Weirdo. I very much appreciated your organizing the characters into families.
I might add that I will not be able to recap this novela, though I expect to be able to comment. I do hope enough people will volunteer to recap.
Thanks so much novelera for the detailed, terrific recap. I always have a hard time getting into a new novela but you helped me so much.
I like the actors in this, “Cesar” also played an intense role in Buscando Frieda, a few years ago and he does brooding/mystery well. I always like Big Ed in anything he does and also the actor playing Camila.
I was a bit confused with the first epi so the recap helped. Thanks Weirdo for the family tree history as well!
I will watch a few episodes to see if I can follow along. Thanks again novelera!
wow, spectacular job novelera smoothing out all the wrinkles, but really, can we believe anything that was said?
I'm somewhat disappointed to see Cesar steer his daughter away from Adriana's bedroom on the morning she disappeared, is caught lying to the cops, and possibly has a girl on the side, this is the good guy?
Fine estreno recap, novelera. Thanks. Great job of giving us the who’s who, delivering it all with a sprinkle of Spanish vocab and snark. Thanks for the helpful comments, Weirdo.
Cesar looked panicked when Noelia insisted on saying goodbye to mommy before they left for school. He kept staring at the bedroom door. What was that about?
Conveniently, there are no locks on the del Rio bathroom doors.
Aylin Mújica as a pole dancer? Sorry.
Was that Adriana’s blood-soaked body on the floor? I couldn’t tell. It doesn’t look like the type of clothing she would wear. But what do I know?
I’ll miss your recaps, Juanita but I’m glad you will be able to comment. I’m not sure about recapping yet. I’m somewhat overloaded with a few currently running dizis.
dondi356 - thank you for posting the Turkish finale. The pre-wedding video where everyone was talking about how wonderful she was seemed like a foreshadowing of her death. That made me so sad.
I much prefer the edited, HEA ending we had on Telemundo, even with Asiye & Cemal together. Once Zuhal got pregnant, and with twins, there was no way she wouldn't be with Mahir.
I don't understand the attraction of a downbeat ending in some dizis. Even destiny gives people a break...sometimes.
Thanks again. I hope soon there will be another dizi to enjoy on t.v.
Beth S
Thanks SO much, dondi, for what Telemundo chose to cut. I guess Telemundo thinks we who live in the US and immigrants to this country aren't as tough as the Turks. Apparently they thought we weren't up to seeing Asiye die.
We must have been separated at birth. I had the exact same reaction to Nergis. The last few weeks when she was constantly pressuring her mother to take Cemal back, she'd have been in danger of a good ole telenovela slap from yours truly if I'd been in Istanbul. And we agreed on who would be a better life partner, the kind, sensitive Mahir.
I am surprised they killed Asiye off. Helin would have made more sense. Akin had done a good enough job in making the Cemal character sympathetic at the end that I stopped disliking him so much. But I'd have liked him to just be a father to the children and not a husband to Asiye. And Akin really hammed it up toward the end with the overacted affection for his two children with Asiye. I also liked Ugur better when he preferred Mahir as his father!
I agree that the actor who portrayed both Mukaddes and Zahide has a true knack for portraying someone you could not BEAR to live with.
hmm, tonight's show was better, since novelera got us all oriented.
I really like María Elisa Camargo (Adriana) ever since she played the gangbanger girl in "Bajo el mismo cielo", I hope she sticks around. what? it was Estella that got shot and claims it was Mariana's (Adriana) husband, I'm wondering if maybe Adriana has more than one husband.
the daughter Noelia sure is cute.
did Camila's mom tell Pascual that Mariana won't be back, she erased her. I'm interested to hear what Pascual's connection to Mariana is.
the younger brother, Tomás del Río, he was Carlos Ponce's son in "Silvana Sin Lana".
and older brother Francisco pops in on the neighbor girl that says she loves Cesar.
Weirdo, Novelera, Deb, Dondi356, VVS & Co.,: Howdy from the Alamo City folks. Here's a very short mini-recap of last night's episode because I wasn't able to catch most of it:
*Corina gets kidnapped by Crazy Tracy & her Lackey because it sounds like DEA Boss wants her DEAD.
*Diana, Ishmael, Aurelio, Computer Hacker Dude & Co., get concerned about not hearing from Corina.
*Corina is tied up & gagged in an undisclosed location.
Steve Boudreaux
Haven't watched this yet, so I can't really comment on the episodes, but thank you Novelera, for getting us started and Weirdo for the family trees.
Tomorrow I'm off, so I'll try to binge a little, see if I like what I see. Then I'll be back with more chatting :)
I'm almost always at a loss during the first few episodes of a novela, and this one was no exception. So mostly what I have right now are questions. Of course, the question the novela writers are pushing most is "did César really kill Adriana?" I'm almost sure the answer is NO, but why is he so evasive in his discussion with Yvonne? Hell, he asks her to lie for him to the police, but when she asks him whether he killed his wife and where was he that night, he's anything but reassuring. Yes, he claims he's not a murderer, but his evasiveness is really weird.
And why does Estela claim that "Mariana's husband tried to kill me!" ? She seems to know a good deal about "Mariana," such as the fact that she's lied about almost everything, including her name. I like deb's suggestion that perhaps Adriana had more than one husband.
Camila asks César "Why did Estrela try to kill herself?" Why does she think Estrela tried to kill herself? Or did I misunderstand (always a likely possibility)?
What was the notebook/addressbook/diary that Tomás found in the car and started to photograph? What was on the pages that he tore out? Why is he doing this?
Was the pink bra/top of swim suit that the police found identified as Adriana's? And was it left there on purpose?
And why in the world was the door to César's house left unlocked?? Francisco was able to walk right in!
As I said, right now I have lots of questions but few if any answers. I'm hoping some of my fellow patio members can provide some.
Thank you, Steve, for providing recaps for this season. I’m still casually watching.
I thought your comment about giving Corina a spin-off was interesting. I don’t care for Corina very much. On the DEA side, I like Dalila a lot more. But I sort of like the idea of a woman centered “ESDLC”. Hey, LRDS is such a success. The women have become more interesting than the men.
ITA, Isturiz and Berenice might become an item.
I hope we see Cabo again. He’s a favorite of mine.
Computer Hacker Dude is called “Greñas”. I think they called him that because he always had a mop of curly hair. This season he’s got a short haircut. Last night, everyone was bothering him to look up personal info. Tata wanted butt lift info. And if I’m not mistaken, he hit on Diana. LOL.
When is Aurelio going to find out about Mecha’s pregnancy?! Her Dr. friend suggested she go stay with her son for a while.
Dondi356: Tata wanted butt lift information LOL. It will be interesting to see if Isturiz & Berenice (if she doesn't get kidnapped by Psycho Jaime & whacked) become a couple.
Grenas making moves on Diana ? That'll be the day.
I am also wondering if & when Aurelio finds out that Mecha is preggers. You said she had a son ? I wonder when we'll see him & what angle he'll be playing in this Telenovela.
Also understand that you're not a fan of Corina, but I am hoping they don't kill her off because Crazy Tracy is NUTS & way too ambitious. Gotta think that Aurelio & Co., will figure out Crazy Tracy is masquerading as the Redhead woman, whom she killed several episodes back.
Excellent comments all. I usually like to respond back to questions or thoughts that I see in the comments on a recap I've done the day after it airs. But yesterday I was totally beat. Not enough sleep Tuesday night and a busy work day on Wednesday.
Interesting that, after the first episode, several of you thought it suspicious that César didn't want Noelia to go up to say goodbye to her mother before she and César left to take her to school. My thinking was that he knew she was not there, hadn't yet figured out why, and didn't want Noelia to worry.
Yes, Noelia is a sweet child, but maybe not based on a real child's behavior. From what I've gathered, kids have quite the ability to interpret the behaviors of the adults around them. I would think she would have noticed her mother's indifference quite early on and have stopped adoring her so much.
Of course this question can be answered by what we've seen in TNs for practically forever. But, if Alejandra just got re-elected (and that's what I thought was going on), why isn't she doing any work for the State of California. As a taxpayer, I'm not happy! But then people in TNs never really work. They just fuss about their love lives for an hour each night.
I was gobsmacked by César asking Yvonne to lie about his having done something to get her electricity back on. Episode 1 seemed to paint him as an innocent victim of Adriana's scheming. I guess they're going with something like "Clue" where everyone could be involved in her disappearance until we find out the truth.
I think the bikini top will turn out to be Adriana's. Could she have planted it herself as part of her plan to have Adriana disappear so she could be happy and rich with Francisco del Rio?
I have no idea what that journal or calendar of appointments was that Francisco found under her bed. Interesting on the face of it. My box spring wouldn't allow for anything to be stuck under there. Is their bed so old that the springs still show?
Juanita, I'm pretty sure they assumed suicide since she was found with the gun on the floor quite close to her hand. She had to come out of the stereotypical TN "coma" to let Camila know she hadn't done it herself.
