TELEMUNDO Y MÁS (#1): El Señor de los Cielos 8, Juego de Mentiras, y más: Week of March 27, 2023
Here are the current telenovelas (all times are Eastern Daylight Time):
9 - 10PM - El Señor de los Cielos 8**
10 - 11PM - Juego de Mentiras**
**Zap2It indicates that this week both novelas will start about 5 minutes later than scheduled. I'm not sure we can count on the delay being a full 5 minutes. I noticed that last week the last couple of episodes were slightly delayed--a minute or two. Telemundo's Program Guide is so screwed up that there's almost no point in consulting it. For example, it currently lists no program in the 9 pm slot for 4 days out of 5! I find Zap2It usually more reliable than Telemundo.
Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation. Since discussions of all the novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post, so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for.
By common agreement, this group DOES NOT discuss previews, trailers, or any other plot information not found in a current or past episode of the current production. Spoilers WILL be removed by the admin. This includes reference to earlier productions of the story, and even the original novel. Thanks for your cooperation!
Labels: juego, señor8, telemundo
Howdy from the Alamo City folks. I will be posting the recap of last night's episode sometime today, so be on the lookout for it.

Novelera: I meant to say Episode #1205. Apologies for the screwup.

Just some quick highlights please fill in what I missed:
Heartless Renata threatens Cesar with jail and taking away his daughter if he does not get the heck away from Camila immediately. She wants him to break Cami’s heart and disappear forever. FJ enters the study and finally makes the connection of who Cesar/the carpintero really is.
Cami talks to Chuy and cannot believe that Cesar would quit his pergola job, move out of servants quarters and leave without saying goodbye.
Abuela is frantically looking for Noelia and leaving Cesar messages about her disappearance. She ends up going to the police HQ to ask Detective Marquez for help.
We discover that MAD deposited the $1 million of “go away” money from Renata into Ines’ back account and Ines is in contact with MAD via email/chat. MAD writes that Ines should not be concerned about Cesar, but Tomas cannot be trusted.
FJ, GumChew and Detective Marquez speculate that perhaps Ines killed MAD and kept the money as there is no sign that MAD has used her credit cards or money since she disappeared.
Noelia shows up at casa Del Rio looking for her Papi. Renata is just awful with the poor little girl but Camila is kind and calls Cesar to let him know Noelia is okay. He is going to pick her up but Camila says she will take Noelia back to San Clemente so they can talk face to face. Much to Detective Marquez’s surprise (and Camila), Cesar tells Camila that he does not want to see her again. Cami is sure it is because of her mother. Cesar says he does not want anything to do with her or her family.
A highlight for me was seeing Chuy, without a shirt, trimming shrubs!
Pasqual is disgusted that Renata is once again manipulating the life of his children. He has escaped to Eva’s for an afternoon delight in the bathtub. Eva says she is willing to help him kill Renata.
On the drive to San Clemente, Noelia is very cold with Camila because she knows Camila likes her Papi. Noelia tells Cami she cannot be with her Papi because her mom is alive.
After Cami brings Noelia home, Following the requirements set by Renata, Cesar breaks Cami’s heart by telling her that his wife is still alive, she is in the house and Cami was just a fling for him.
VVS, thank for an excellent report on all the mysteries .
So... Ines was deeply involved with MAD, and we learn that MAD is alive and communicating with Ines ! However, is it MAD communicating with Ines or the person who killed her. The plot thickens .
The writers really want to please the viewers by featuring Chuy eye candy in every episode . It must be in his contract .
Hi Susanlynn! If MAD has not used any credit cards or money, is she dead or does she have an accomplice? According to Rocio, Adriana would never hang around responding to emails from people, she was a turn the page and move on kind of girl.
I am totally okay with Chuy having eye candy responsibilities in his contract. I was also glad he shut down Alejandra, at least a bit, refusing to be her eye candy plaything.
excellent summary VVS !!!
there was such a flurry of reveals, wow, I was stunned.
how did Noelia Know about the del Rio's place, and why was Rocio in on looking for her, she seems to be the go-to for insights into Adriana.
I was looking for more of a reaction from Pascual in meeting Noelia, but not ready for Eva's "accepto" to his murder proposal, he went to glee, is it because he found a chump to do his dirty works.
loved Renata's conclusion that she should have sent Father, Mother, and Daughter off to a desert island somewhere.
Alejandra last night said she was a U.S. Senator, I thought I heard her say earlier she was a State Senator, maybe she just plays for the Washington Senators, loved Chuy turning things on her by not going for the fling tease
still more clues that Adriana is dead/alive, I didn't see the million going to Ines and left unspent, the emailer appears to be a puppet master and somehow staying current with the action, interesting that Ines' attention is shifted away from Cesar and pointed at Tomas.
also Ines brings life to the fact Cesar may have killed Estella, of course this was in L.A. so the San Clemente's finest aren't tracking that, but didn't Marquez somehow lift the restraining order against Cesar going home?
Cesar did stun Cami with his wife is home now, but she is still clutching to the "secret", what is the secret you were going to tell me?
I guess Chuy just doesn't have the skills for the pergola, he didn't even have the smarts to take his final exams and be gone, let me help you with your shirt.
Howdy Caray Caray family. Here's a very SHORT mini-recap of last night's episode & I do mean SHORT because I was flipping back & forth between this Telenovela & "Perry Mason" on FETV.
*Psycho Jaime officially launching his campaign for the Presidency in the 2024 elections. Let's see if his campaign will be successful.....
*Aurelio has flashbacks of stabbing Monica; choking to death Connie (Ivonne Montero) & La Gober; ordering the assassination of Leonor.
*Memo to Mecha: I wouldn't be shocked if you get whacked before the end of Season 8 because if you get in deep with Aurelio: you're DEAD.
*Tata & Ishmael & Co., still at the nightclub.
*Laura eye-googling her kid on her bed at the Casillas Family Ranch.
*Gullible Diana still with Creepy Aguirre: I wonder how long before she figures out this dude is up to no good ?
*Castillo & Colon still at the hospital discussing something.
*Dahlila fighting off some weird creep. I wonder if the dude was trying to kill her on the order s of Psycho Jaime or Alvaro.
*Roberta (the girl with the annoying thing around her throat) is being given the 73+ questions from Felina & Co.,
*More of Aurelio & Mecha: Fast Forward.
*How long before we see Ritula getting into bed with Creepy Aguirre ?
*Karla attending the campaign launch of Psycho Jaime in Cancun & asked him pointed questions.
*Hoping that Corina wakes up & remembers that Crazy Tracy was the one, who shot her.
*Speaking of Crazy Tracy: she just finished having sex with her DEA Lackey AGAIN: this girl is horny or what!
*Crazy Tracy wearing that red wig: she needs to just use hair dye to make it red permanently if she wants to avoid being revealed as a DEA agent.
*I think one of the previews shows Artemia getting shot at Mecha's restaurant in Mexicali CRAP!
"Alejandra last night said she was a U.S. Senator, I thought I heard her say earlier she was a State Senator, maybe she just plays for the Washington Senators" Hahaha! Good one deb!
How did Noelia know the address of casa Del Rio? Very good question! I think I heard Rocio tell Cesar she came right over after he texted asking if Noelia was with her.
These reveals just gave me more questions last night.
Wow, VVS! Thanks for this wonderfully concise and helpful recap. And I also appreciated Susanlynn's and deb's astute additions.
Here are a few thoughts I'll add:
Alejandra becomes more obnoxious each time we see her. Last night she had the nerve to suggest to Cami that César may have disappeared because he got what he came for--you know, some men are like that (snicker, snicker).
How did Noelia manage to get to the del Rio estate? Where did she get the money for the bus and for whatever she took to get from the bus stop (which was likely quite far) to the estate? And how did she know where it is? How did she even know the name del Rio?
So just as Ale seems increasingly [fill in the blank with whatever negative word fits her best], FJ seems increasingly a good guy with a heart. We see him send an email to MAD (not his first, but he has received no replies) saying "You're not dead. Your plan failed. Iknow my mother gave you money to go far away. What you did hurt me a lot. I'm writing now because you have a daughter, an innocent who is suffering. If you come back, I'll arrange for you to keep the money, but at least say goodbye to your daughter." I hope FJ has the good sense NOT to go through with a wedding with Ale.
Yes, I too was delighted with Chuy as eye candy last night. I wish the shirtless scene had been longer. I was also delighted that when Ale was coming on to him, Chuy had the good sense to say, "Stop throwing yourself at me." He may even have enjoyed the slap she gave him.
Renata complains to Pascual that "the little girl ruined our plan!" He looks genuinely mystified and asks "What plan?" That was my question as well.
I enjoyed the scene between Noelia and Cami in the car. Noelia tells her that her mother probably found out that Cami likes her dad, and "that's why she got angry." And her saying this, of course, leads to Cami's hearing that MAD isn't dead, she's alive, "so even if you wanted to," Noelia tells her, "you couldn't marry my dad."
Renata is a conniving piece of work, but she may be well matched with Big Ed. Tomás recalls that every Sunday, Big Ed would take him with him to several of his lovers and prostitutes, and that Renata wasn't suspicious because he took Tomás.
Susanlynn, I loved your question, "is it MAD communicating with Ines or the person who killed her. The plot thickens ." And deb, yes, Marquez informed GumChew that it seemed clear that César was not a criminal, and so she had the restraining order lifted so he could be with Noelia. I also liked your suggestion that the writer of the email seemed to be a puppet master, and your calling attention to the fact that he/she/they has managed to shift attention from César to Tomás.
Excellent fill in the gap comments Juanita! Thank you! I agree with you on FJ becoming more likeable especially how he has shown concern for Noelia. I also skipped over the part where Tomas told Ines why it is so easy for him to lie. I appreciate you providing the full dialogue between Noelia and Cami in the car.
I have not been fan of Alejandra and last night sealed the deal for me. Yes, I do think Chuy enjoyed that slap a bit too much!
Thanks so much, VVS, for the great short recap. It's a real lesson in how to do one!
And thanks also to Juanita, deb, and Susanlynn for chiming in with some terrific comments. I have been sort of MIA a lot lately. I'm in the process of trying to retire from my very long-term job. Training people to do what you've done for years is more time consuming than keeping on doing it yourself!
Yes, that was a big surprise that Inés is the one who got the $1 million. It's a bit odd in that she went through that whole sad story, including flashback, of being ripped off by Mariana when she's apparently tight enough with her to caretake those big bucks. IIRC Camila either made a loan or an outright gift to fix that big credit card debt for Inés.
I kinda knew it was coming but I had a small hope that César would NOT break Cami's heart. Of course that's a cardinal TN rule, coming up with a way to separate the two madly in love protagonists.
I cheered when Márquez said she lifted the restraining order. I was surprised that Barros, alias Gumchew, didn't object more.
I doubt Big Ed and Eva will successfully bump off Renata.
I'm glad that Mariana or whoever warned Inés about Tomás. She's spilled a couple of things in front of him and she needs to stop trusting him.
LOVED Chuy's shutting Alejandra down. I think he's half in love with her, but he's not willing to be a boy toy. After last night, I want someone else for him. Maybe Inés?
Howdy from the Alamo City folks. I'll post the recap of tonight's episode sometime tomorrow 😎
Be patient!

#16 – Parte 1 de 2
We see the rest of the awful scene where César tells Camila that his wife is inside. She tells him she’d never have gone to bed with him if she’d known he was married. We see her at home, very sad and remembering their kisses and later their making love.
Noelia tells her father she’s going to forget all about her mother. She says that her mother never loved her.
Renata tries to comfort her daughter for the pain she herself caused.
Cesar and his mother talk about the emails Noelia has been getting, especially the cruel one where she said she’d never come back. César suspects someone else. He thinks Adriana wouldn’t look back that way.
Francisco Javier comes to see César at home, wanting them to work together. When FJ says the baby might be his (César’s), César gives a bitter laugh and says that it’s not his. Adriana probably planned to give a rich guy an heir. César gives FJ Adriana's laptop if he wants to keep searching; he's done.
FJ comes to see Rocío at the bar. He tells her about the transferred money (to Inés) and that the cops say DAMA hasn’t taken a flight anywhere. Rocío tells him she should have left the country because she’s been involved with some dangerous people.
Jacinta eavesdropped on some of this conversation and comes up to FJ offering a hint about Carita Sucia (Dirty Face). She’s squeezing money out of FC for information.
Noelia and her father are in the bedroom. She wants her father to donate all of her mother’s clothes. [Presume this is because of the email saying she’d never come back.] They find a suitcase with the expensive clothes inside that belonged to “Mariana”. César holds up a blue dress, not one of the ones in the suitcase, and remembers that Adriana told him she wanted to be buried in it. She then tells him she wants to die before she gets old.
#16 – Parte 2 de 2
Jacinta tells FJ about overhearing “Diana” on a phone call and that she seemed nervous. She told the caller that she needed more time. She called him or her carita sucia and said that FJ is getting suspicious. Pluto interrupts this and tells FJ to leave. It looks like Jacinta may have written her phone number on a piece of paper to give him.
Tomás has come to César to apologize for having told his mother about his relationship with Camila. Tomás insists he wasn’t sleeping with Mariana; they were only friends. He vehemently says that the baby isn’t his. Tomás tries to give César money since he isn’t working at Casa del Rio any more, and is soundly refused. César tells him that poor Camila’s family are total garbage.
Pascual puts some white powder in the coffee that’s on a breakfast tray for Renata.
Noelia gets another email. This one is from either her mother or someone else and wishes her a happy birthday.
FJ comes to see Inés and addresses her as Carita Sucia. He says she’s DAMA’s accomplice. He tells her he knows about the $1 million transferred into her account. Inés resists saying anything, but FJ tells her he’ll talk to the police about it.
Pascual brings Renata the breakfast tray. She looks aghast and wonders if it’s poisoned! He laughs and tells her that, since they are staying together, they ought to try to get along better. He even kisses her a couple of times.
César types a reply to whoever has been sending emails to Noelia. Noelia and Elvira look on. He writes: “You left us and so you have lost all your rights as a mother.” Noelia approves, but asks her father to add that, if she decides to return, they’ll be here waiting.
Pascual tells Eva over the phone that the poison will take several doses to kill her. So when she dies everyone will think it’s of natural causes. [Ha! Everyone in LA knew what a skirt chaser he was. And won’t there be an autopsy? He should arrange for a hit and run.]
Chuy tells Camila that César left his tools there, and Cami calls to tell him to pick them up. She won’t be there when he does.
Alejandra shows up with her brother Ray, who’s come for the wedding.
Linda Márquez brings a birthday gift for Noelia. When she leaves the room, César tells Linda about the emails Noelia has been receiving.
FJ brings Inés to face Camila. He tells his sister that maybe Inés will tell HER where Mariana is. Suddenly Camila tries to hush him. He goes right on. He orders Inés to tell Camila that Mariana didn’t leave the country and that she’s expecting his child.
Whoops! Alejandra has come up, with her brother, behind FJ’s back. She gives him the voice she probably uses on the U.S. Senate floor. “Repeat what you just said!” Renata looks like she’s going to be sick to her stomach.
Novelera: Good Job on the recap of last night's episode. What sinister cutthroat scheme does Alejandra plans on using in the United States Senate ?
Plus does she plan on using the United States Senate as a stepping stone for the White House ?
Steve Boudreaux
Ugh, I've been inactive again.
Thank you so much, VVS and Novelera, for the great recaps!
I don't really think it's DAMA sending those emails. Even if she is alive, didn't she say in the first episode that she wants to get out of there? Why would she be sending emails if she wants people to think she's dead?
So, Pasqual is actually (slowly) killing Renata. But this is a telenovela, so I assume she won't die in the next episodes. Her first thought was that he poisoned her, what?! I guess she knows him well lol.
"César tells him that poor Camila’s family are total garbage." YES, CÉSAR, YES!
Oh and for last episode: "Tomás recalls that every Sunday, Big Ed would take him with him to several of his lovers and prostitutes, and that Renata wasn't suspicious because he took Tomás." Um, WHAT? How old was Tomás at the time? This is just creepy!
Renata is also horrible! I guess she and Pasqual are tal para cual...
Thanks again, VVS and novelera!
Thank you novelera for the terrific recap! I really appreciate you taking the time to put it together. Congratulations on your retirement!
I went back to the episode where Rocio talked to Noelia about her mother's life at the orphanage. She clearly says Adriana’s best friend was Cara Sucio. Last night, suddenly it is Carita Sucia. There was even speculation that Dirty Face might be Elvis, the gum chewing policia. Ines definitely has a back story, but I do not think she is Dirty Face.
I laughed when Renata immediately said she thought her breakfast might be poisoned. Not sure what kind of poison Pasqual is using but he claims it would make it look like Renate died of natural causes. At least he did not make Eva do the dirty work.
Rocio sure got nervous about MAD still potentially being in the country.
The scenes with Cesar/Cami then Cesar/Noelia were heartbreaking.
Any points FJ won over with me were stripped away with his high born/low born you are not good enough for my sister discussion with Cesar.
Good luck with your transition to retirement novelera and thank again for the recap!
thanks so much novelera, always a pleasure to read your recaps !!!
I was hoping Adriana wouldn't be a psycho but here again another burst from the past, this time a death dress rant, I'm surprised Cesar's furniture isn't all made from twisted wood.
the story is moving along as I suspected, that Adriana walked into something that was bigger than she could handle, Rocio sure fears for her life if she didn't manage to run for it.
is that a target I see appearing on Jacinta's back?
Pluto and his gun is much to hyper to be running a girly joint, but we have yet to hear what he knows.
Yvonne is once again knocking on Cesar's door.
and who is Gaby, a friend of Noelias?
Ines sure is a picture of innocence, I could almost believe that she didn't know about the million even after FJ got her to admit it, so much for her invisible world when he drags her before the del Rio court of law, demanding to know where her partner Mariana, the mother of his baby is...
and once again, Alejandra, interrupo algo?
Thanks VERY much, novelera, for this superb recap! You've captured just about everything with the right amount of detail and some great asides. I especially enjoyed " [Ha! Everyone in LA knew what a skirt chaser he was. And won’t there be an autopsy? He should arrange for a hit and run.]" I too doubt that Pascual's plan will succeed. Renata seems to be a lot more shrewd than he is. I suspect she would have opted for the hit and run.
I was a bit surprised that Noelia has suddenly decided that her mother never loved her. I thought Adriana's coolness toward Noelia was obvious from the little that we saw of their interactions in the novela's early episodes. I was thus surprised when Noelia kept insisting that her mother loved her. I guess her overhearing that Adriana was well-paid to leave changed her mind. Then again, it looks as if Noelia would welcome her back with open arms. I suppose this ambivalence is realistic, but Noelia's sudden strong rejection of Adriana seemed a bit abrupt.
As soon as Alejandra [hiss here] introduced her brother to Camila, I feared I saw where that might go: a very hurt Camila seeks comfort on the rebound from tall, dark, somewhat handsome Ray. Ugh. My expectation is that Camila and César will be together at the end, but the writers have got to do something to fill 80 episodes.
I agree, novelera, that at the end of the episode, Renate looked as if she was sick to her stomach. I couldn't decide whether her feeling sick was caused by seeing Alejandra overhear FJ talk about Mariana, or whether Pascual's white powder was beginning to have an effect. In addition to looking sick, Renata also seemed to be having trouble focusing her eyes. First one person, and then another, were blurry.
I'm glad VVS reminded us of the earlier mention of Cara Sucia, Adriana's best and perhaps only friend at the orphanage.. I have this vague recollection (or mis-recollection) that Cara Sucia was a boy. Am I remembering correctly?
Again, MANY thanks, novelera, for this superlative recap!
Howdy from the Alamo City folks. Here's a very short mini-recap of last night's episode:
*Artemia & Co., get shot at Mecha's restaurant in Mexicali. Sounds like Mecha is being targeted for a reason 🤔
*More of Aurelio & Mecha OMG. You two need a freaking hotel room!
*Isturiz speaks with Karla in Cancun.
*Dahlila looks freaking HOT in that kinky outfit. Can Telemundo give her a spin-off please 😃
*Psycho Jaime & Berenice are basically BPN 2.0 & Bizzaro Gaviota 2.0 LOL 😂
*Creepy Aguirre & Ritula make out. SuperJavi: You might want to move on buddy!
Steve Boudreaux
Excellent comments and detective work from everyone today! Thanks, VVS, for remembering the Cara Sucia remark from Rocío's talk with Noelia.
Weirdo, I also thought that was disgusting of Pascual to have taken Tomás along as a defensive move from Renata on his "adventures".
deb, your sharp eyes are at work again. Thanks for reminding us that Yvonne is still trying to butter up Noelia in her campaign for the role as the kid's stepmother.
Juanita, ITA about Noelia's rather odd behavior. In the very beginning I was surprised she didn't notice that her mother was "off". She seemed jealous of her own child's strong affection for her father. Wow, Ray as competition for Camila hadn't occurred to me. I suspect you're right. Also, I did not notice Renata's blurred vision. And I wasn't thinking of the poisoning when she clutched her stomach, just her dismay at her plans to be related to a U.S. Senator going down the drain.
I recognized the actor playing Ray and remembered one role he had. He was the boyfriend or fiancé of Patty O'Farrell in the very first La Reina del Sur. IIRC he was killed because of cheating some drug dealers or something like that.
I went down the rabbit hole of cast members of La Reina del Sur and came up with the name of the actor playing Ray. It's Ezequiel Montalt, and he's a Spaniard. Wiki is showing his current role in Juego already.
I posted it in the Univisión page, but I think I should post it here too.
As I said before, Televisa is making a remake of Telemundo's La Patrona (I think it will be called "La Minera").
The protagonist was going to be Ariadne Díaz, but she rejected it last minute, so they're searching for someone else.
The galán is going to be Osvaldo de León and the antagonist is going to be Cynthia Klitbo. (Tbh, I don't think anyone can be better than Christian Bach as Antonia Guerra. Just saying.)
I have mixed feelings about this remake. I'm happy, but I don't really think it's needed. What do you guys say?
Hi all! I am working on a quick recap for the episode last night. I will try to post it quickly.
Yes, Steve, it may be a flop.
I got happy mostly because La Patrona was the first telenovela I watched, so nostalgia I guess.
I also don't really think it'll work well. It's unnecessary too. La Patrona is only 10 years old.
#17 part 1 of 2
FJ tells a furious Alejandra that he loves her and the only reason he is still looking for Mariana is because she might be expecting his child. Ale and her brother leave the house, chased by Renata. Out in the driveway, Renata tries damage control and Raymundo says he hopes all of this is a misunderstanding. Renata grabs her belly saying her kids are giving her gastrointestinal problems. (More like the poison in her coffee).
Back inside the house, FJ tells Cami that Ines is Mariana’s accomplice because the million dollars is now sitting in her account. After a long-winded story (as FJ plucks lint balls off the plaid shirt Ines is wearing) Mariana convinced Ines to hide the money for her because some guy in Miami was blackmailing her and she needed a person she can trust.
Ines says that Mariana made her feel like a visible, real person and in turn she became someone Mariana trusted. Ines says she is waiting for Mariana to contact her with a new back account to retransfer the money but she has not heard from her. (We know that is not true). All the while, Renata, looking concerned, listens as Ines says that Mariana has not touched the money since she disappeared.
At Cesar’s house, Detective Marquez (Linda) is decorating for Noelia’s birthday party. Yvonne, the nosy neighbor, is there as well telling Linda that it is a conflict of interest for her to be there as Cesar is still a suspect. Linda is quick to point out that Cesar is no longer a suspect but Yvonne is well known for her alliance with FJ and wanting Adriana out of the picture. Yvonne tries to outsmart our smart detective saying that it has already been demonstrated that Adriana is alive so she cannot be a suspect. Linda tells her that Adriana has not touched a cent of the money and guess what? Dead people do not spend money. Linda heads back to decorating as Yvonne looks concerned or just stupid, I cannot discern which.
On the golf course, Pasqual is trying to reconnect and reestablish a relationship with Tomas. He teases Tomas about Ines being his girlfriend. Tomas unloads on his dad, clarifying that he is not gay but completely tainted against women because of the Sunday trysts Pasqual dragged him on as 6-year-old kid. Tomas says his dad turned him into a creep by leaving him in the car when they supposedly were at the movies or getting a haircut or golfing. Tomas reminds him that every Sunday he had to return home and lie to his mom about the good time he had with his dad. Pasqual is stunned and clearly impacted that Tomas remembers all those details from childhood and how it has now affected his life.
Back at casa Del Rio, Cami tells Ines she does not trust her anymore and she needs to leave her house and resign from the foundation. Cami cannot believe that Ines let her investigate Mariana like a crazy person and kept those million dollars a secret from her. Ines says that Cami is right, she is not a very loyal person. On her way out, as a good will gesture, she tells Cami that the only reason Cesar left her was because Renata threatened to take away his daughter if he did not. (How does Ines know this? Did Tomas tell her?).
In the living room, Renata berates FJ for being an idiot and he tells her he will marry Alejandra but will not stop investigating until he finds out the truth about Mariana and his maybe baby. He pulls out the paper Jacinta put in his jacket and calls her to set up a meeting after she gets out of work.
Episode #17 part 2 of 2
Noelia’s birthday party is in full swing including a mean girl who questions her why her mom is not there. Cesar breaks the tension as the cake is brought in and Las Mananitas is sung. Noelia wishes out loud that her dad is always by her side, she gets an A in math and that her Momita comes home.
A shadowy figure is responding to the email Cesar and Noelia sent to Adriana. The response reads “Even if I never return, you will always be in my heart, I will always love you, Mama.” Later in the episode, Cesar tells Detective Marquez about the email response. He does not think it is Adriana because she despised be called “mama” and that is why Noelia always called her “Mamita.” Detective M wants Cesar to bring the tablet to police HQ to be reviewed.
A knock on the door and Cesar finds Cami there. She has brought his tool box as a pretext but tells him she heard that Renata chased him away by threatening him. She wants to know if it is true and if so, they can fight her together. Linda walks up to tell Cesar that his mom needs help with the pinata. Cesar thinks back to the threats of Renata and ends up introducing Linda as his wife. I give Linda credit; she did not bat an eye. Poor Cami leaves, disillusioned once again.
At FJ’s house, he is leaving Ale a message that he loves her regardless of the situation with Mariana. Tomas shows up, tells the tale of his great golfing date with his dad and starts drinking.
At Alejandra’s house, Chuy has followed her because he saw how upset she was. Long story short, he cannot resist her and they end up in bed together. She of course says it was a mistake but he still seems very twitterpated. (Why Chuy? Why?).
At the foundation, a drunk Tomas finds Ines packing out her things. He is angry that she is leaving because of Camila. He promises to talk to his mom to get Ines to stay. The more Ines says no, the more aggressive Tomas gets. He wants to protect her and says he is her “secret protector.” Angrily, she pushes him away and out of the foundation. Later Escobar shows up to help her pack her things out. He tells her that Tomas is bad news and he knows Tomas had a relationship with Estela. Tomas considered himself her “secret protector.” Escobar also saw Tomas with Mariana. He thinks Tomas was obsessed with the woman working at the foundation. Yikes!
Tomas comes home and demands Renata reinstate Ines at the foundation. Renata is too busy trying to convince Alejandra that everything is okay and grabbing her ailing stomach.
Jacinta leaves the pole dancing bar and in the parking lot a large vehicle turns on its lights and chases her down the road. She manages to escape and get home, calling FJ to bring money for her information because someone just tried to kill her.
Ines gets home, thinking about everything Tomas and Escobar told her. She opens up her laptop and goes back to the girlie page Tomas was looking at. She sees Jacinta’s face and remembers her stranded on the road with her car. Her profile is inactive but then Jacinta goes live welcoming her subscribers. Just as she starts to tell people about almost getting killed, someone in black and wearing black gloves starts to strangle her. Ines is horrified as the episode ends.

One more thing! I totally forgot to add the scene where Cesar shows Detective M the suitcase with expensive, designer clothes. In the suitcase she finds a picture of a mansion on a seaside hill from a magazine. Written on the back of the photo is a note from Carita Sucia saying that house can be theirs with the million dollars.
Howdy from the Alamo City (San Antonio, TX) Caray Caray family. Here's a very SHORT mini-recap of last night's episode.
*Felina notifies Aurelio about Artemia & Co., getting shot at Mecha's restaurant in Mexicali.
*Diana & Laura in their pajamas & both are freaking SEXY, SEXY, SEXY especially the lovely Isabella Castillo (Diana Amuhada), who might need her own spin-off someday ASAP. C'mon Telemundo: let's get Diana a spin-off.
*SuperJavi has one night stand sex with some Bartender Chick.
*Creepy Aguirre & Ritula engage in sexual escapade. This dude must be rolling stone, but I want to see the look on Ritula & Co's faces when it's revealed that Creepy Aguirre was one of the co-conspirators who was involved in the attack on the Casillas family back from Season 7 that resulted in Luzma's death.
*Aurelio & Mecha arrive at the hospital.
*Psycho Jaime AKA BPN 2.0 & Berenice AKA Bizarro Gaviota 2.0 are well.... interesting. I do agree with Weirdo or Dondi356 that the women (Dahlila, Ritula, Laura, Diana, Berenice, Corina, etc.,)of this Telenovela are carrying this show.
wow, what an excellent recap VVS, and sprinkled with little details tying things together!
yes, cute, FJ picking lint off Ines shirt as he accuses her of being Mariana's accomplice.
the actress playing Ines is so so good that I see nothing but an innocent bystander, even as the evidence mounts against her, and yes, didn't a recent email warn her about Tomas.
in the english caps didn't Renata called Ines "mop top".
with everyone using the name Adriana, Noelia showing up at the mansion, etc., am I missing something, Cami has not made the connection that Adriana/Mariana/Ana is Cesar's wife, Tomas even threatened Renata with telling Cami about that.
interesting, Cami must have remembered when Cesar showed up with Marquez and hugged her in the driveway, I don't think Linda minds being Cesar's wife.
Chuy seemed true to respecting Ale's vulnerability, until the "slap", yes Chuy, the unforgettable needs to be forgotten, good luck with that.
Tomas looked like he knows his way around a golf course, Pascual didn't even remember the early times he was talking about, always the victim to his family but quick to play the money/power card to everyone else, with a drink the plot thickens.
yes Jaci, when you are being chased by a car run down the center of the street.
let's see, who knew about Jaci's connection to FJ, Rocio... and he told his dad, anyone else?
I don't trust Escobar (Ines co-worker), something about the way he cruises in and out of the story.
Wow, VVS, you've created yet another amazing recap! It's admirably concise, and so complete that I have very little to add, except more praise.
I was glad you asked how Ines knew that Renata had threatened to take away César's daughter. I too wondered about that. Like you, I decided it must have been Tomás who told her.
I was surprised when Noelia made 3 wishes and said them aloud. Is that the convention among the Latinx community? I always thought you get one wish and (most important) you DON'T let anyone know what it is.
César's explanation to Marquez about why he pretended to Cami that Marquez is his wife really moved me: "It was the only way I could think of to let the best woman in the world go." And though I agree with deb that Marquez may have liked the thought of being César's wife, his explanation pretty much puts the kibosh on that thought.
The scene of Jacinta running away from the car that was trying to run her down had me yelling, "You idiot, why don't you run on the sidewalk and weave in between the parked cars?" I see deb too picked up on the stupidity of Jacinta's running away down the middle of the street.
Thanks again, VVS, for this terrific recap!
Thank you deb and Juanita for the great comments and fill ins of what I missed. There was a lot to unpack from this episode.
Like to two of you, I was yelling at Jacinta to get off the road! I guess the director wanted to show off her very in shape attributes.
deb, Renata called Ines a “grenuda.” In my home, according to my abuela, that meant, unkept, unruly hair and it was not a compliment. “Mop top” also fits but I think Renata wanted to be mean about it. I also have some questions about Escobar. He does appear to be too innocently handy with information.
Juanita, thank you for adding that one very important comment Cesar made to Detective M regarding Camila. It certainly did put up a very strong boundary that I do not think she would try to cross over, unlike Yvonne.
Wow! Absolutely terrific recap, VVS. ITA about the "mean girl" at Noelia's birthday party. Why do the mean girls have to always be blonde? I also liked "maybe baby". Whether DAMA is really pregnant is up in the air. Inés getting into the gyno assistant's computer showed she had been there. A woman can see a gyno for other things than pregnancy. Did what Inés brought up on that computer say Tomás was the one accompanying her? It's hard to remember all the stuff they throw at the wall.
Come on. I'm not buying that witnessing his father's flagrant affairs completely turned him off to having sex with a woman. He did say he wasn't able to "love" a woman. Unclear whether he's able to perform or not.
Well, everyone had the same thought. Jacinta, you dope, get out of the middle of the street. She finally did. I expected one more scene with FJ and was gob smacked by the person showing up to strangle her. What I noticed in the scenes showing a shadowy figure is that the figure could be male or female. It's not a large figure. Tomás?
I haven't liked Inés from the beginning and was happy to see Cami fire her. It's possible Cami may reconsider. But, having heard that the last recipient of Tomás' "secret protection" ended up dead (Estela), she may stay away.
I'm pretty sure César is going to end up with Cami, but Linda Márquez would make a great match for him. After so many years of watching TN's, it's 99.9% that the person with whom the protagonist shares that starry-eyed look upon first meeting is the one they end up with.
Big Ed is doing a great job in this. We can't really hate him that much for being un mujeriego because Renata is so awful. He definitely loves each and every one of his children and hates Renata's manipulation. I enjoyed his scene with FJ last night where the son is protective of his father, telling him to stop drinking and he'd be back soon for them to talk.
Novelera: Alicia Machado is amazing in this Telenovela.
Where have I've seen Maria Laura Quintero (Linda Marquez) before in a previous Telenovela ? Because she looks quite familiar but not sure where though.
