Just some quick notes today not necessarily in the order broadcast, I just grouped plot points together regardless of airing sequence:
Mariluz’s birthday was fun for all…. Well, except Carloca. My favorite part was Sam giving her his gift all proud and saying it’s the first gift he ever bought! He gave her a teddy bear which was a little odd but in a cute way, everyone was charmed. Mica showed up to the party with Valero because Conchita lied to her that Lupe wanted to see her. Lupe reacts badly at first but Mica points out they have always been the best of friends and she’s always been there for Lupe and Lupe has to admit it’s true. These two hug and make up and Valero even talks Lupe into a group hug and I think he’ll have her fully won over before the end of the party. The best gift of the night (from one point of view anyway) is the gift from Mom and grandma of a plane ticket to Europe to go visit Lisardo!!! LOL Too bad he’s not there, and this explains all the money conversations around buying a simple present.
Carloca makes her cameo at the party because she can’t find Jesus and she’s convinced he’s there, he’s not of course; but she doesn’t learn that until she bursts into Mari’s Birthday party insulting the crap out of her only to discover her with Patty!!! Sigh, Happy Birthday to Mari! Carloca then returns home, answers zero questions from Jesus about where’s she’s been and answers just as many phone calls from ‘Iker’ because she’s tired. The next day however, she’s got a meeting set with ‘Iker’ and Fede just happens to pop by the house and thus can drive her to the meet. It ends up being Fede’s thug friends (the ones he owes money to) that show up thinking they are going to get money from her but they get a gun instead!!! Will Carloca shoot? We will have to wait and see tomorrow.
The only other bad note at the party didn’t actually happen at the party but was related since Domi had to leave the party after getting a call from Emma telling her Gus was hurt and in the hospital. Yep, that snake Rod lured some boy into faking sick at the skatepark as a distraction so that while every eye was on the kid he could mess with Adrian’s skateboard in hopes of hurting Adrian. But after the distraction is over and the kids go back to skating and it’s Gus who grabs Adrian’s board. He falls and is hurt badly!! Adrian checks out his board and sees it’s been messed with, he also sees Rod!!! He runs after him but he must not have caught up because later Adrian and Belen show up at Rod’s house and they make a date to duel at dawn – well not actually dawn but I forget what time they said. They are letting GPS pick a neutral fight sight at the halfway point between their homes and it’s to be a clean fight with no weapons.
Augi enlists Jesus to find help find the Santos brothers!!! LOL He thinks Jesus’s security cameras may have caught an image of the guy leaving the note saying Augi is the real murderer. Jesus agrees to let Augi’s man look at the footage and is clearly relieved when the camera doesn’t catch the guys face but he hides his reaction quickly behind feigned disappointment.
Elisa figures out the Guerreros are her sons!!! It starts with Damian telling her enough about his story of his mom that she realizes he could be talking about her! She brings this new info to Santi and after the requisite protesting he agrees to her plan to go to the shop to check things out. Santi pretends that he has car problems which Valero goes to check on while Elisa pretends she needs to go to the bathroom and snoops instead. It’s actually cute when she asks about the bathroom as Valero gives her directions saying if she opens the left door she will only find the horse! LOL She has to try the door on the right! But Elisa finds the room with the stuff from the ‘where is Elisa’ investigation and her painting of the boys as kids!!! ‘They’re my sons!’ She declares, this time with certainty! We will have to wait til tomorrow to see if she’s caught snooping because the episode ended on this note!
I forgot to mention Selena is now both singing and dancing at the club and she seems a little more comfortable but I shudder to think what is going on behind the performance mask. We didn't see any of that, just the dance....I was bummed to see she still has to perform, I was hoping the guys demanding payment in cash from Fede would mean that Selena was off the hook.
Welcome Candida! It's nice to see your post! I haven't seen Nina amada mia so I can't comment on it but it sounds like an interesting and very eventful show! Hopefully there are others here watching who can discuss with you! I hope you will continue to share! I will enjoy reading even if I am not watching!
Darcy, thanks for the highlights from a fun show. There were a million things going on at Mari’s party. Here are my companion notes.
Sammy Sweetheart was the cutest - charming everyone with that odd teddy bear.
Fashion Alert: Carloca’s shirt was boldly emblazoned with “CELEBRATE DIVERSITY” - I really don’t see her as the poster loon for co-existence. Adrian’s stoopid earring got longer and totally cancelled out his “I’m from the streets; FIGHT OR DIE” street cred. Claire’s Boutique called; your check bounced.
I was laughing at Rodrigo’s:
•Plop plop fizz fizz 6O-second accomplice.
•Sabotaging a skateboard in broad daylight across from no fewer than 6 witnesses.
•Agreeing to duel. Its Silver Spoons meets West Side Story. Must.See.Novela.
I’ve joked about Mariluz being unaccustomed and/or allergic to good, wholesome, honest guys. At the party, Patty-Cake spelled out what a perfect catch he is (thoughtful, family-driven, loves his mom, etc.). This scene was great (I’m totally biased), but the background was just as entertaining. We see Domis teaching Sam to dance and the actors all appear to be having a wonderful time.
I’m glad Mica & Lupe made up. It was overdue. Once again, the actors in the background are dancing and seemingly having a blast. At the end of the group hug, Sam, Patricio, and Doménica are all doing some sort of cute choreography.
And it happens yet again! When Villalba is asking Mari & Conchita for Lupe’s hand (indoors), Valero & Mica are in the background dancing and mugging like gangbusters.
Patriluz was having a very sweet and tender moment when Carloca burst in. At least no fires were started and no shots were fired. Celebrate diversity!
Selena has taken to her new assignment like a duck to water - singing AND dancing. It’s a shame she’s performing under duress. Our hero Sam needs to rescue her stat. Fede wants her back, but I’m hoping his anvil comes first!
I cheered when Carloca pulled the gun on Fede’s two-bit thugs. Please let her be happy tomorrow…TRIGGER HAPPY!!!
The ending was a true landmark. It’s now confirmed Elisa’s sons are doing business as Los Guerrero. Now if we can just clear up those pesky murder and abandonment issues.
O.S. thank you for your companion notes!! Man, I need to start rewatching the show at least once to just watch and then re-watching to recap so I don't miss so much - I can't believe I didn't see Domi teaching Samu to dance!!! I'm going to go back to rewatch that! I did see Mica and Valero boogying during the asking of Lupe's hand which I forgot to mention in my notes - thanks for adding that!!!
Once again, you crack me up with: 'Now if we can just clear up those pesky murder and abandonment issues!' LOL such minor details.
I hope Carloca isn't trigger happy because as bad as the thugs are they are just the peons the bullet needs to find Fede!!!
This is just extra but reading about Domi teaching Sam to dance reminding me of my one complaint with the novela Medicos. It aired on Uni a couple years ago and I most loved it and the galan in that one was such a breath of fresh air because he was good and kind and all the things you want prince charming to be - instead of lying, gaslighting, looking for revenge, and marrying other women because they are pregnant like our fair Jesus!
Anyway, my one minor complaint with that character happened around a dance scene! LOL In the plot, the character supposedly couldn't dance but he was willing to learn because his lady love loved to dance. So they did the whole teaching him to dance scene and he was awkward for like 2 mins and then he was having a blast and it was obvious that the actor was a very good dancer!!!! It was a cute scene but you couldn't believe for 2 seconds that that guy didn't know how to dance and was just learning! I was watching yelling at the screen Cut!!! Cut!!! Somebody teach this guy how to not know how to dance!!!!
The full name of the novela was: Medicos, linea de vida, and I believe it's on Vix. If anyone is looking for a recommendation for a show to watch where you can actually crush on the galan from beginning to end, I highly recommend it!
We start with Jesùs mechanic-ing and then hopping on RE3NCUENTROS to read a message from Mariluz. The latter thanks him for the thoughtful gift and says they will see each other soon. Ruh oh. She’s traveling to Paris.
Elisa is at Ground Zero. Finally. She’s found her sons. She realizes her sons saved her from previous peril, but she can’t reveal herself until she can prove her innocence. She prays for help and Opera Man rushes her back to reality/safety.
Carloca is about to shoot and demands to know how Dumb & Dumber know about Iker. She owns her craziness, but stoopid Fede intervenes and the goons get the gun.
Jesús is in the hot seat - he must think of a way to keep Mariluz from going to Paris. Elisa sneaks out while he’s contemplating.
The tables have turned. The goons now want their ransom by tomorrow. Fede plays along.
Carlota squirms.
Uh oh. Jesús returns to the Rasta wig. He needs to stop Mari from traveling. Why is this happening? Once again he’ll be hurting her. Why is this happening?
Fede offers to help Carloca facilitate the blackmailers’ demands. He advises it’s best to do what they say.
Elisa reunites with Opera Man and 86’s the DNA mission. It’s moot. She has no doubt Los Guerrero are her sons.
Doménica approaches Augi and asks him to help with a dilapidated adult school in the name of the foundation. He agrees, and she foolishly thinks she has her old dad back.
Elisa tells Santiago she’s found overwhelming proof in the garage (her painting, her scarf, an old picture of her and Augi) that the mechanics are her sons. Ladies & Gentlemen, please welcome our new life-challenged horse: Elisa can’t reveal herself until she proves her innocence.
It’s Sam’s new school that Doménica is helping rebuild. She tells him the school will be like new so he and his classmates can give it their all. He’s super excited (and cute) and tells her she’s the best.
Valero is venting that the Guerrero brothers are so dang lazy…How lazy are they? Instead of washing dishes, they hide them in the oven. Lisardo enters the kitchen (in costume). Valero immediately falls to his knees and asks Jesus for forgiveness for his sins (LOL). When he realizes it’s Chucho, he asks what’s up with the outfit. Jesús isn’t in the mood for explanations so Valero zips it. “Calladito me veo más bonito.” LOL
Mariluz is packing for her trip. Lupe is worried that she may not come back (if Lisardo proposes). She assures Las García that she wouldn’t stay because she has her project, and Lisardo has his own missionary life (LOL).
Valero sets up an elaborate green screen (an old blanket) so that Jesús can he can appear to be anywhere but the garage. Jesús knows the situation is out of hand, and Valero reminds him that any way he slices it, it’s a BIG fat lie. Does Jusús think he can keep lying to her eternally? Preach, Valero! Jesús says this will be the last time he talks to her. Patio, 4 out of 5 doctors recommend a lubricant/artificial tears for eye strain brought on by extreme eye rolls. Lisardo is going on a mission far away, and they can no longer be in contact. This situation ends TODAY.
Carloca is frantic. Where will she get a million pesos (~$55,208.96 USD) by tomorrow?
Fede approaches “Vi” at an outdoor cafe. She’s wearing black and some conspicuously large sunglasses. He tries to get all touchy feely, but she shuts him down. He’s brought Victoriano’s Power of Attorney. She’s taken aback - seeing her father’s signature.
Emma is super worried about Gus’ rehab. Doménica is working with the insurance company to cover it. When Domis says she and Damián are over, Emma says, “Don’t tell me you like Sam now.” Emma is in our Sam Fan Club, and besides, Damián is with some painter now, right?
Diego & Frida meet at a cafe. He can’t believe how well they are getting along. He wants to know all about her. Has she always lived in the city? Does she have children? Flashback to her painting the three young brothers. She says it’s complicated, and she’s not used to sharing personal information. He backs off. She promises someday he’ll know everything about her. She has to leave, but they’ll see each other soon. He wonders why she’s acting so strangely.
Opera Man is talking to his sister via phone and writing in his own Man Diary!!! He wants her to review the Guerreros’ records(?). Only Lisardo was there [This may be the hotel
records - when Damián stayed in Puebla registered as Lisardo.]. She will call him back.
Fede tells “Vi” the documents irrevocably give Augi control over her papi’s beeswax. She says it can’t be. What can she do? A judge told her it could take forever. She’s about to get 2O million pesos. Fede scoffs. He knows Augi, and there is no way he would give up that amount. Money is his weapon. He uses it to dominate. Sorry, Toots. It’s the truth (paraphrased). Timeout: both Fede and Vi look extremely good/glam in this scene. Despite their characters’ flaws, these are really pretty people.
Adrián & Belén are on their way to rumble with Rodrigo. Emma worries.
Vi can’t believe Fede or his paperwork. She thinks he’s trying to manipulate her since Augi gave him the boot. She will not miss out on her millions! Fede says he knows Augi, and he will never give her that money. NEVER! He leaves.
Belén, Sergio, and Adrián are waiting in an alley. Rodrigo and his cronies roll up. Actually they walk up. It’s on! Fists fly. Scuffles ensue. Emma pops in and demands they stop the madness. She goes all Wonder Woman on them and separates all combatants. She delivers an anti-violence PSA. Rat-drigo tells his pal to make sure to record him, and he lunges at Adrian. Sergio and Adrián take him out.
Conchita foolishly asks Villalba what Mari will need for her travels. 99 words ensue which really amount to “sensible shoes.” Don Abel has been to France and recalls the landmarks and wind. Villalba won’t stop talking. Guadalost says she had no idea what Villalba is saying, and the scene ends cutely with both couples kissing.
Mariluz and Lisardo are chatting via RE3NCUENTROS. She thanks him for the birthday gift. He tells her he’s leaving France tomorrow on missionary work. Oh, my. He tells her they are sending him to a remote area with no technology, i.e., internet. He tells her she will always be in his heart and the love of his life. He signs off. Ok, has a telenovela character ever been hit with a truth anvil? Jesús deserves something for these big ass lies! She weeps.
Note: he didn’t green screen himself into the Champs-Élysées; he just lied through his dientes in front of the green blanket.
OMG! The nominees for Worst Actress = Rodrigo on the gurney being wheeled into Emergency for the “beat down” in the alley. His head hurts. He’s going to die. He’s too young. He thinks he may have a concussion and vows revenge. Kudos to Rodrigo actor; this cracked me up. Emma warns the rumblers that Rodrigo’s parents have a lot of pull in town and they may be in trouble. The rumble video has been posted and has many views. This is dumb because it clearly shows Rodrigo as the aggressor. Adrián cracked me up here-reenacting the choreography of the hit.
Valero is helping Sam with his Mexican History homework - reviewing the Cry of Dolores. Sam cannot concentrate. He’s worried about Selena. He went to check on her, but all he saw was Fede. What if Fede has done something to her?
Selena is killing it at the club - singing and gyrating with aplomb. The goons tell Fede she’s increased business by 30% (paraphrased). Bryan (Goon #1) wields a gun and says he wants to see the cash. Fede tells him he best not get caught with that gun because it’s caused many a death. He tells them they’ll have their monies tomorrow. Fede blows Selena a kiss and leaves.
Selena is not answering her cell so Sam is going to go to her place and confront Fede. Valero says relax. Sam says relax nothing! Fede is going to get a good pau! Go, Sam! Valero urges him to think cooler and be smarter. He will accompany him on this mission!
Emma just knows Rodrigo’s parents are going to take action. Adrián and Serge could wind up in jail. They could lose it all. Oh. This is so unnecessarily dramatic. The only good news: Adrian has finally taken off that stoopid earring.
Mica, Lupe, Villalba, and Conchita are reviewing French magazines. Mari comes crying.
FIN
Thank you O.S.! Another fantastic, humorous recap!
This: 'Conchita foolishly asks Villalba what Mari will need for her travels. 99 words ensue which really amount to “sensible shoes."' and this: 'Guadalost says she had no idea what Villalba is saying' had me chuckling so hard!
One thing that really struck me in this episode was how different Gonzalo Garica Vivanco (Jesus) looked as Lisardo! I kept thinking it could actually be a different actor under all that hair! Or a stand-in. It's surprising to me because I'm used to disguises where the actor looks basically the same and somehow others don't recognize them - like Elisa disguising herself with a scarf or Fede wearing all black to sneak into the garage....Jesus really didn't look like Jesus at all! That said, I agree his ruse is creepy and wrong. If you wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt (and I am not sure I do) there is some merit to what he told Valero, which is he did this because he didn't want Mari to get in trouble with someone else pretending to be Lisardo - remember the near kidnapping the first time she got 'kidnapped'? But even if he did have goodish intentions in the beginning he blurred them with his own feelings and wants and flirting over the internet. He could have told her he was Lisardo and he was married with 3 kids and not interested...but no, he flirted and called her 'my Mari'.
Speaking of, if you are Patricio, how do you feel about Mari taking off to Paris to meet some guy from childhood after you've declared your feelings and told her you'd wait. That would be a major red flag to me because it's flighty! Mari's story to him thus far has been 'I was in love with Jesus but he married Carloca and now I am not ready to even think about love' but 4 minutes later she wants to fly to Paris and meet some dude she hasn't seen his childhood based on one Video call and a few emails??? I hate to say it, but if Patricio is the good guy he seems to be, he deserves better than Mari.
I find this whole Rod fight plot annoying...First, we don't need Rod! Go away!!! Second it's incongruent, first Em fights with Rod (self-defense) and Adrian voices concern over the fact that Emma seems so aggressive (thank Laura for that) and then Adrian goes to go Rod a beat down and Em shows up to give the anti-violence PSA??? And now of course, Rod the bully is Rod the victim and I'm sure his parents will find a way to make life miserable for Adrian.
I want less of the brawling in the bronx and more of Elisa and her sons, more Valero, more anything that has anything to do with Sam - especially if he goes and rescues Selena!!! I'm worried about her, she seems comfortable enough on the stage but what's going on behind stage??
I hope they won't kill off Patrichio because this would be just plaiin cruel and stupid. Maybe they have some nice girl for him. But I sure hope he won't die trying to save Mari Luz. How is it possible to write such unapealling male protagonist and sucha good secondary character?
Didn't Mica say she got those magazines from Carlota's room?
It irritated me that Mari now is all upset and that she cares more about a guy she hasn't seen for years than about getting to see another country. What will happen with that ticket?
