I just finished watching 'La Reina del Sur 3' (Not as good as 1 & 2) and don't know what to watch next. Would love some input from y'all.
I finally found where to watch 'Yo Compro esa Mujer'with Eduardo Yáñez and Leticia Calderon, if interested, just email me.
Just sent you an email.
YCEM is a great classic and it made Eduardo Yanez a star. That it also has the late, great Enrique Rocha is another feather in its cap.
I gave up on Cabo because it is too unbelievable and haven't yet gotten past the opening episode of the new one but I do recommend Perdona. Great cast and good writing.
Victoria, ITA about LRDS3. I did enjoy it, though, and thought it was a good way to END the series.
For me, PERDONA is okay only because of the cast not the plot or production. There are too many things that are supposed to be contemporary but seem to belong to another time and place. I just started AMOR, have seen the first couple episodes and am planning on watching more this weekend. There is something about a well-done tale of revenge I cannot resist. So far so good. I just wish we knew how long these novelas were before we start to watch them.
I am watching " Invencible" and like it very much so far . Great cast .
Would you be willing to get recommendations on KDramas? LRDS3 had such a boring last episode that I could hardly keep my eyes open.
I mostly agree with Urban on Cabo. I have a love/hate relationship with that show. I really hate most of the characters on that show, like there are only 2 or 3 that I actually like. I hate the wardrobe! I find most of the plot lines either frustrating, annoying, or too far fetched but for some reason I can’t pin-point I don’t want to stop watching it either. I will be relieved when it’s over though.

Part 1 of 5
Angela had the gall to taunt Andres after he was unjustly convicted and sentenced. Andres was dragged out continuing to protest his innocence. There was conflict with the judge. [Of a cpurt worthy of contempt.] Silvia quietly told Angela off on her way out.
Padre Reynaldo told Elsa about Angela's false accusation and Aurora's additional perjury. Elsa was outraged. She felt useless for not being in a position to help him and verbally condemned those who did this to him. She asked the padre what she could do. He said nothing except that justice would eventually prevail.
Elena heard echoes of Dr Palacios' questions. She got angry and threw her hairbrush on the floor.
Manuel and another ranch hand came back saying they searched all over and there was no sign of Ivan. Demencia became certain that Nora helped Ivan and accused her. Nora denied any culpability, but Demencia did not believe her and threatened Ivan's life if she found him.
Andres' lawyer told Lamberto that she had recourse for this. She was wi1lling to fight this to the end. Silvia was not optimistic because of Angela's and Aurora's obvious hatred. They left.
Andres was returned to his cell. He cried.
Irene tried to make Elsa feel better, saying that the truth would come to light. She told her she had to take care of herself. Irene was taking her to a medical facility for an ultrasound. Elsa thanked Padre Reynaldo for his words.
Angela was her usual declassée self when she gleefully announced Andres' fate in the office. She said “Eight years. Eight. Too bad is isn't for life.” She grinned at Ingrid and Renzo who were not on the same page about this. She was certain this was wrong while he took his paymasters' side, saying that Andres had fooled them all. Ingrid warned him that the day could come when the boss had no use for him. As she walked away he looked like he might have realized that.
Angela laughingly told Armando about this. She said that was the least he deserved. Armando was satisfied with the eight years, saying this was adequate time to deal with Elsa's situation. Angela asked if he thought Elsa could forget him; she had looked for him after the boarding school. Armando said they will see after eight years. He asked about Lamberto's reaction and she laughed again at Lamberto's disbelief and trying to comfort Silvia. Armando said he couldn't believe that he sank this low.
Silvia was upset and angry with Angela and Aurora. The one thing that had kept her going was getting Andres out. Lamberto reminded her that the lawyer was doing everything possible. Silvia cursed the day that Andres fell in love with Elsa. Antonia tried to tell her that this is not evil' love happens irrespective of social class and Elsa was carrying her first grandchild. She did not feel like going to work. She went into her room. Antonia was worried, never having seen her like this before. However, Antonia went to work while Lamberto stayed with Silvia.

Part 2 of 5
Andres told Oliver what happened. He was upset at not being able to be with her when the baby was born. He knew that this wouldn't have been any easier if he were out.
Irene drove Elsa to the appointment. Elsa was depressed, thinking about all the horrible things that have happened to her and Andres, questioning why they could not be happy. Irene said that true love can survive many things and that motherly love will give her strength to handle the tough things. Irene told her that things should get better.
Antonia told Hector what had happened and why her mother couldn't come to work. She cried.
Elena went to Armando's office. She told him about the therapist appointments that Gerardo insisted she go to regarding “couples' problems.” He asked if they had problems and she answered that she didn't think so, finally asking him about something that happened with she was eight years old and that he was the only witness. She said that when she was eight years old some man had pulled her into her room. She asked him if he remembered this and he shook his head and said No. Armando denied that anything had happened and told her that her shrink was a charlatan putting ideas into her head and that Gerardo was an idiot for taking her to this. [Cue massive nausea among the flies on the wall] She told him that Gerardo was sure she had suffered some trauma about sex. He told her she had not and to forget it. Nothing had happened to her. “Promise me you won't think about this any more.” She did. He said he would always listen to her. She said Gerardo said this was for her good. “And you, do you think so?”
Nora and Manuel talked about Ivan. He told her he had taken Ivan to the old ranch the night before; he could not have stayed. He was sure Demencia would not find him told her not to talk about this again.
Silvia got up and Lamberto said he'd called out for something up something to eat. He had gotten a good job offer from his cousin so no issue about bills.
Elsa had the ultrasound done. She chose not to know the sex of the baby, otherwise so far, so good.
Angela was at her computer when Lamberto showed up in her office. She gloated over what happened to his “bastardo.” She said something about him comforting his “wife” followed by a mocking question about him becoming the champion of the lower classes. Lamberto told her that she is the one who should be locked up. She tried to dismiss this and get him to leave. He got up and told her she will someday pay for all the evil she has done. Her expression on his departure showed that she had no conscience.
Elsa was happy that her baby was alright. Irene suggested they send photos of the ultrasound to Estela and Andres. Further she would speak to Demencia about Elsa's need for monthly doctors' visits. Elsa was sure she would not comply, but Irene was adamant. She then suggested they go shopping for the baby things.
Over the phone Antonia told Gerardo the bad news. He said he'd come over when he got off work.

Part 3 of 5
Elsa showed the ultrasound photo to Nora and explained it to her. Nora told her she was worried about Ivan. Nora told her what happened, which didn't sound like a compete plan. Irene came in to ask if they wanted to go to the river to watch the baptisms.
Carlos showed Aurora the plans for their new house. She was not really in the mood. Angela arrived, looked at the plans, and had the nerve to say that he would be the ideal husband for herself. He left the room to get her a drink. She then told Aurora she was proud of her for helping the conviction. Aurora said she hated Andres but felt bad for ruining his life. Angela told her not to because “he destroyed the family” and for that must be punished. Aurora wasn't having it. She said they were responsible for him being in prison. She only lied to keep her mother's skanky butt out of prison, and did not want to talk about this again. She changed the subject and told her about Carlos' plans for the house and that Horacio had left and that this was the last time they would ever talk about this. Angela agreed to this but went on as though to get another two pesos' word about it. Horacio called and asked why she didn't come. He went on about how they belonged together, SSDD. Carlos came in and asked who is on the phone. Angela whispered she didn't know, and Aurora faked signal trouble and ended the call. Carlos saw Horacio's name on Aurora's screen and asked if it was him. Aurora pretended she heard nothing other than him saying he had a bad signal. Angela then had them sit down and Carlos explain the blueprints.
Padre Reynaldo baptized the children while they all stood in the river while Irene, Elsa, and Flor watched from the riverbank.
Andres wrote to Elsa. Another prisoner told him he should probably forget her because eight years is a long time. He had been through this himself. His wife had visited him every week and he ultimately found out that she had found another man on the outside. He was then called to the tailler and Andres read what he had written thus far.
Gerardo went to see Antonia. She told him it was difficult to talk about this because of how angry she was with Angela and Aurora. He understood how she felt and did not like what his mother and sister had done. He said he would be there for her. She said his father had been an angel and the lawyer was at work. However, she didn't know how long Andres was going to be stuck there. They hugged. Antonia was facing the entrance [as we all hope Elena was nowhere near].
Lamberto brought a pizza to Silvia's house. She loved gestures like this because they had not had these moments when they were younger.

Part 4 of 5
Gerardo entered Armando's study. Armando said he was very disillusioned about his marriage tp Elena. Armando took Elena's side about the therapy, saying that this was charlantry. Gerardo disagreed, “If I asked her to come to therapy it's because we have problems.” “my daughter doesn't have problems.” “Yes, yes, she does have problems. And has her husband I have the right to take her to therapy – ” “The only problem here is you. You're a doctor; I thought you were more intelligent but I was mistaken [???]” Gerardo answered that she has suffered some trauma when she was a child; someone had molested her. Armando paused for two seconds and told Gerardo that he had no right to dig up the past. “All you've done is disturb her.” “Yes, if something happened.” Armando turned away for a moment and said “A boy tried to molest her.” [We're hoping Gerardo takes note that Armando isn't looking him in the eye.]
To all of our shock Irene told Elsa she had to get back because she could not leave Estela alone with Armando much longer. She said there was no good reason Elsa had to stay there; if she was concerned about it she (Irene herself) could handle Armando. Elsa said she would feel better not being near him for now. He'd had her locked up before this and would likely have her under surveillance with Andres in prison. Demencia had told her that she would make sure that Elsa went to the OB/GYN. [We'll believe that when we see it.] They hugged and Irene looked worried.

Part 5 of 5
Armando claimed that the molester was a former worker and it happened near work, Elena had been upset. He took her home and gave her a treat [How familiar does this sound?]. He thought it best that Elena not remember this. He never looked Gerardo in the eye. Gerardo disagreed with him, saying that Elena is an adult and needed to remember this so she could get past it. Gerardo said “With all due respect, this isn't your decision.” Armando got more aggressive, saying that she is his daughter and always will be. “I forbid you to mention this to her again. And more, to take her to this 'therapist.' Do you understand?” “I'm sorry, but you can't forbid me anything.” “If you say anything to Elena I will go to the police and tell them all about Fuentes.” “I did it to save my mother.” “Oh, please. I'll do that to save my daughter.” [For what?] “If you insist on digging up the past your mother's secrets won't help you. I will tell the police everything.” “/you don't know what I'm capable of.” “For my daughter I'm capable of many things.” “You aren't defending her; you're condemning her to live with her trauma.” Armando didn't want to hear any more. “I don't want to hear any more about this matter.” He opened the door. “Very well,” said Gerardo as he left. Armando closed the door, sat back on the couch, and looked like he was thinking.
When Gerardo got to the hospital his colleague asked about Armando. He told him that Armando's case was more serious than they thought. They went to review the test results.
Irene and Padre Reynaldo left. Demencia watched the farewells between them, Elsa, and Flor. Nora looked worried.
Angela went to see Armando in his office. He didn't look like he was in the mood to desecrate his office furniture but she didn't give up. They were kissing when Gerardo walked in on them.
Will get to the next episode later.
I still think that Irene should have taken Elsa far away from Demencia, even into the US. It shocks me that Elsa isn't the fighter we thought she was 15 episodes ago. This tempts me to look at the original.
Armando is looking more and more guilty regarding Elena but if this is coming from a story originally set in the 1950s almost anything about sex was considered shameful. Could Armando be innocent of incest and instead have killed whomever molested Elena? In either case I'm sure Estela doesn't know.
I loved seeing Gerardo finally discover Angela's adultery although I'm not sure he can hold this over her head.
Thanks, Urban. Your recaps are super. I'm so glad you're doing Perdona.
Elsa not leaving with Irene is just nuts. But then Elsa, though she does have some fight in her, grew up with an overpowering tyrant of a dad and mother who put up with his controlling ways far too long. Elsa is still getting her sea legs in fighting back. Or, come hell or high water, the writers just want Elsa to give birth to her baby out in the boonies with Demencia! ;>
Maybe there is hope for Elena. That was a big step for her to admit to herself that "something" happened when she was 8 years old. And a big step to ask Armando about it. We know he's lying and covering up to save his own a$$. I'm guessing that was the beginning of him cutting Elena off from bonding with her mom and sister. IIRC Elsa says "something" happened in her room, while Armando says some guy tried to rape Elena at a construction site.
What is up with Padre Reynaldo? There is no reason for him to honor his agreement with Armando. Why isn't he blabbing to Irene and Estela so they can safeguard the baby after it's born.
At last Gerardo knows that his mom is a piece of crap.
Thanks, Urban, another great informative recap.
I thought there was something fishy about Armando not wanting Elena to have thereby. Thanks for pointing out not meeting eyes. Sometimes I miss stuff as I try to read close captions. It had never occurred to me Armando might have been the one who began to molest her. But I did think he would use what he knew about Gerardo and Fuentes against Gerardo. I just thought it would happen if he tried to leave Elena.
Hopefully Gerardo is realizing what his mother is like, and will mend fences with his dad.
I also can’t believe Irene is leaving Elsa there with Demencia. That woman would easily murder someone. Although I was surprised she didn’t beat Nora too.
Urban, I really appreciate your regular recaps. I am away this weekend and will be behind so may not be able to comment but please know how much I appreciate your recaps and will comment when I catch up.
Liz
Here are some very sketchy highlights--
So David and Leona kiss quite passionately (so when did Leona start having those types of feelings for David??) Then he confesses to Leona that he went to work at the Torrenegro ((torre=tower/negro=black, so Blacktower!) house to avenge her death; and she confirms that they both have the same goal. After he kisses her, she makes it clear that she has no time to think about love, but David counters that love is not something to think about, it's something that's felt (how deep!!...is your love ¶ :-).
Lola uploads some sexy pics (trying to make money) and Calixto happens on to her site and is intrigued...etc.
Leona gets Itxel and Teo to help her meet Kika and AnuJu. Kika$$ is her normal obnoxious insulting; Ana Ju greets Leona and notices her tattoo, so Leona she (partially) shares the meaning of it.
Josefa forbids Oliver to be medicated and takes away Columba's authority as a mother (can she really do that??). Obvio no, because Columba helps Manuel (who BTW is Gael's personal consultant, not a doctor, but he carries with him medications) force Oliver to take a pill.
Sweet moment and the slow mo strategy really helps make it more dramatic-- Leona runs into her children at the same time and the three of them should have a special connection, but I didn't see it.
While Leona visits that BlackTower house, Oliver has a bad reaction to to meds. Super Leona (who is not a doctor herself) immediately takes action, tells everyone that Oliver is having an allergic reaction, takes out an epi shot and injects him! Leona saves the day! Gael learns that Manuel gave Oliver the medication with Columba's authorization, starts to beat him up but David pulls him back. Gael fired Manuel; so Leona now has a chance!
Calixto makes me sick 🤮 Apparently Camila is in a wheelchair because of an accident; and from the comment Cal-louse made after she asked him to help her into bed (“be careful because you might have another accident”) I would not doubt that he may have caused the accident!
Camila described her father as cold and dry…and he hasn’t even talked to her since he returned. Can you imagine what she would say if she knew how evil he truly is?
One of the things that puzzles me is how all the kids are in the same classes. The twins are at least 2 years younger than Teo (dark-haired boy and Itzel’s bro) and at least 1 year younger than Itzel (short haired girl). And Kika must be at least a couple of years younger than the twins!
Uh-oh Camila is falling for David! 😬
Dolores (Pains---very appropriate name!) needs more slaps—she doesn’t want her mother, Jacinta, to talk to her at school because Pains doesn’t want anyone to know she is her mother; and if Jacinta insists on talking to her, Pains will leave the house (show her the door, Jacinta!).
Add as you please, I know I didn't get everything!
More sketchy highlights---
Ramsés tells Columba if she messes with his family (referring to giving Oliver meds), then he will mess with her...and not in a good way!
Leona presents her plan for helping Gael improve not only professionally but physically, mentally and socially, including the family. He ends up giving Leona the position as a personal advisor/consultant.
Gael asks Columba for a divorce. Gael told her that she only married him for convenience…and that she got pregnant to force him to marry her.
BUT...Ramses is not allowing Gael to divorce because in their dynasty, divorce is not an option. And Ramses doesn't want to make waves with Columba's family (who also seem to have a dynasty). Ramses reminded Gael that when he got married, he (Ramses) told him that it would be forever…till death parts them. Is this an omen???
Leona sees Ramses as she walks down the stairs. In her mind, she tells him she wants to kill him and wants to destroy him. Ramses thanks her for saving his grandson.
Columba warns Gael that if he sees any strange behavior/attraction with Leona, she will do all she can to get Leona out of their lives.
Leona bumps into AnaJu and Kika as she is leaving. Kika wonders if Leona was spying on them at school as a means to get a job with her dad. Leona explains that her (not really) niece and nephew go to the same prepa and she just happened to see them.
Leona reveals to Consuelo that her twins are alive. Later, Leona tells Jacinta that she would like to know more about her family now that she knows that Adrián is David, Jacinta asks her to be discreet since her children do not know about David's past.
Ramses wasn’t too pleased that AnaJu is researching and writing an article on the disappearance (trafficking) of young girls…she can’t believe there are people who are so cruel (you're looking at one, girl!). Ramses tried to dissuade her from continuing…since it could be dangerous. I wonder how far he would go to stop her 🤔
Yikes, Kika got jealous when she saw Gael and Oliver having fun and now she is asking a friend about getting drugs 😬
Scumbag Jeremias (Jacinta's husband) overhears Jacinta tell Clara (her mom) that Leona is Benja's bio-mom.
I don’t see why Itxel was so upset about her haircut…it’s not that different from what she had…
Again, add as you please, I know I didn't get everything!
Lamberto definitely needs to move along that divorce and get a bit more starch in his spine.
Angela is so beyond despicable and it truly burns my tail to see her get away with her actions... and brag about them. I fail to understand how anyone could describe her as being a lady. She is the epitome of the social climber type she claims to despise; she needs a good, sound kick in the tuchas. She doesn't give a flying damn about her children's mental health. If anything were to happen to either of them I doubt she'd cry any real tears. It would not surprise me if she and Armando would be at each other's throats in the final weeks.
We still need follow-up on Guillermina. As for backstory on Demencia we only know just enough: She is the poor relation of Estela and Irene who envies their wealth and position.
Hector needs to know about Aurora's perjury, too. That could really shake things up.
Urban, simply superb. Each of your incredible short stories truly shine.
I kept telling myself that as terrible as Armando has been, there is a line he wouldn’t cross…but reading what actually occurred in the episode regarding Elena, my stomach is roiling. You might be right Urban in that someone else committed the crime and Armando avenged it but it appears exactly what happened will remain hidden for now as Armando has pulled an ace out of his sleeve. I KNEW his finding out that Gerardo helped Angela cover up the murder would come back to hurt Gerardo, and now it has.
“Elsa not leaving with Irene is just nuts” is right Niecie! Why Isabel didn’t put Elsa in the car and drive off is amazing to me.. And the good padre better do the right thing and protect Elsa. I’m not liking what I’m seeing.
It also appears Andres is in dire straits.
“When Gerardo got to the hospital his colleague asked about Armando. He told him that Armando's case was more serious than they thought”. We live in hope Urban; we live in hope.
Thank you so much.
Diana
Rgv Chick, thank you for all of these very important details, many of which I didn’t understand. This was excellent!
I especially loved “Torrenegro ((torre=tower/negro=black, so Blacktower!) house” – perfect!
Yes, Leona kissing David so passionately was a very quick departure from the friend zone. Initially, I think she may have just been delighted to find him again and her emotions took over from rationale. But it does seem as though she cares very deeply for him, perhaps more so knowing her children are alive. But then there is Gael…
Yes, “Cal-louse” is scrum and the theory he might have caused Camila’s accident has sad merit. Even though David told Camila while he isn’t married, he made it clear he loves someone very much. Still, it’s impossible not to see the moondoggie eyes she gives him.
Leona was so sweet and kind with Oliver. My heart broke a bit seeing Gael watching them together. How different he and his life would have been had Ramses not been his father. Still, Ramses to me is truly terrifying.
I had absolutely no idea AnaJu was writing a paper on human trafficking! And here she has an expert right under her roof!!
Diana
Thank you, Urban. The recap covered it all. ITA with your hypotheses about Elena and the sexual abuse. It would be interesting to track down the original versionifthe novela and see how much of this was played.
I also do not understand why Irene didn't remove Elsa from the ranch and put her in her own version of protective custody. It makes no sense.
If Father Reynaldo goes along with his plan to “save the baby” as promised to Armando, that will not ring true to me especially with Irene on the scene.
This plot is like Swiss cheese with all the illogical holes but it is still worth the watch!
Invencible
I can never understand why in these telenovelas there are always mothers who put up with their teenage kids' tantrums. Why would Jasinta agree to pretend she didn't know her own child? This is just stupid.
Poor Camila. She is a good person. For her it's even worse with such a husband. No wonder she fancies David.
This telenovela has a bit too much of that good vs bad brother/sister thing going on. I somehow dislike the actor playing Benjamin. How old is he? He has this role of a good son, but to me it feels over the top.
I wonder if Ramses would kill his own grandaughter if she got too close to the truth. How Josefa ended up with someone like him is a mystery to me. It's really not a life when you live with a man who controls you the way Ramses does. How did she not fall into depression? I'd have ended up in a mental hospital.
Dear Chickie , thank you thank you for your recap which cleared up a lot of questions I had .
I think that kiss between Leona and David was the result of Leona suddenly discovering that her teen friend was actually alive . I would do the same thing even if we hadn't dated. I have fond memories of the kids i grew up with .
Gael's face is a study in sadness ,regret, and hopelessness. One wonders what these years have been like for him in Ramses frightening , violent shadow. He is a tragic figure in this tale. The look on that face when he first saw Leona was one of disbelief and maybe hope . Daniel is the master of the side eye. His eyes are always darting around .
David , on the other hand, is good as gold with a beautiful, loving smile. Pure love and goodness. I love good guys .
I knew that Ramses was concerned about whatever AJ was looking at on her computer , but I thank you for explaining that it was about human trafficking . uh oh . I think this is the most disturbing storyline that I have seen. It was also a storyline in the Turkish dizi " Kara Para Ask" ( Black Money Love ) on Netflix . That was a very good story with great performances .
I agree that the haircut didn't look like any hair had been cut !!! Que???
I was wondering if that weasly guy was David's brother or brother in law . Another guy on the bad guys side of this equation.
The glass house is amazing . ....people who live in glass houses ....shouldn't .
Cantu is playing his most evil, vile villain in this show. He knows how to bring the darkness. What a face .
Thanks, RgvChick. Loved your “sketchy highlights”. I finally caught up last night! It looks like I better make a list of the characters to keep them all straight. ; ) This is so much better than what I was expecting. It looks like it is going to be a real ethical/emotional mine field for Leona considering the love her children have for the parents/families who raised them and the love bonds those adults have with them. At this point, both “David” and Gael are both between a rock and a hard place.
Urban, thank you for a great retelling of everything that happened .
Like everyone else, I can't believe Irene and padre left Elsa there with crazy Demenicia . Why?
Irene always acts large and in charge, but I wonder how long Armando will tolerate her before he gets tired of her interfering and tries to eliminate her.
I wonder where this is going with Elena and Armando. . Armando is trying to control everyone in his orbit . I think he is the most joyless villain I have ever seen. . His facial expressions are grim and scary .
Angela is despicable , a hot mess, and a loose canon.
Poor Gerardo is trying his best to deal with Elena, Angela, and Armando . I wish he would team up with Lamberto and Hector to uncover how evil both Armando and his mother are .
I hope Gerardo and Antonia end up together ....two nice, uncomplicated souls .
I think Aurora will be redeemed by the end. ....but I don't care.
On a lighter note, Carlos's beard really bothers me ...ugh. Shave it or change it...maybe you can save your marriage ....or find a nicer girl.
"It looks like it is going to be a real ethical/emotional mine field for Leona considering the love her children have for the parents/families who raised them and the love bonds those adults have with them".
Well said as always Jarifa, "mine field" is exactly right!
Diana
Thanks, Rgv Chick. Your recap is much appreciated as I try to get the lay of the land.
I'm glad ya'll discussed the kiss between David and Leona. I was surprised too. But the look on Leona's face when she first saw Gael after all this time makes me think she's still in love with him despite everything.
Now I'm wondering if Gael has a revenge plan of his own against Ramses.
I wasn't expecting so many teens. I'm assuming they'll get their own triangle. Maybe Ixtel is mad about the haircut, which is cute, because she gets googly feelings when she's around Benjamin?
Lola looks too young to be running her own peek-a-boo site. Calixto is disgusting. I had to check out during this scene.
Josefa may be evil herself, but I enjoy her dissing Columba.
Luz María Jerez (Clara) looks great with gray hair.
Just checked the latest photos of FC and am shocked.
JS has looked a bit haggard in Perdona, but that has to be at least partly about lighting and how severely his hair is slicked back.
Perdona
I have yet to write the recap for Friday, but that should be up by tonight.
Regarding an alternate theory about Elena, I had a thought last night about when Armando killed Olmos. He told him that he was killing him not about the blackmail but about hurting his daughter.
Could this be why he is so controlling?
This is only Jorge Salinas' second villain role but there was an element of pathos in his first. This could be one for Armando.
Thank you RGVChick for writing the highlights and to the rest for the comments.
I will recap Monday's episode.
Diana, regarding the kiss... "I think she may have just been delighted to find him again and her emotions took over from rationale. But it does seem as though she cares very deeply for him, perhaps more so knowing her children are alive. But then there is Gael…" You may be right, I just thought it was a little over the top since it was quite long a kiss and Leona was really into it. (Maybe Angelique was the one enjoying it! LOL) And "My heart broke a bit seeing Gael watching them together. How different he and his life would have been had Ramses not been his father." ITA, Gael seems to be quite the opposite of his father. I was surprised he asked Columba for a divorce! Is Gael finally going to "do the right thing" despite his father's demands? I thought of writing "father's wishes" but Ramses doesn't ask or suggest, he expects total obedience, no questions asked!)
Waterlily, Emiliano González (Benja) is actually 20 years old. He is playing the role of a 16 year old. Isabella Tena (Ana Ju) just turned 16 recently. Karla Gaytan (Itzel)and Abril Michel (kika) are also 16; and Lukas Urkijo (Teo) is 15.
Susanlynn, "Gael's face is a study in sadness ,regret, and hopelessness." perfect description of Gael!! I so pity the character; I can't imagine someone actually living with a father like Ramses.
Jarifa, " It looks like it is going to be a real ethical/emotional mine field for Leona considering the love her children have for the parents/families who raised them and the love bonds those adults have with them." Spot on! I just hope Leona or any of the "good guys" don't get scathed. I do worry about Gael though, with a father like Ramses and a wife like Columba, either one could easily destroy him, if not kill him.
Niecie, "Calixto is disgusting. I had to check out during this scene." ITA! I should have checked out too. Victor Gonzalez must like playing this type of character. He was disgusting in "Los Ricos Tambien Lloran" too.
Weirdo, thanks for taking on Monday. I really don't have the time (or energy) to recap this TN; I need a break, but when I see that nothing has been posted, I can't help myself. This TN is turning out to be so much better than I thought...it deserves some recognition and discussion. I do want to ask that others step up to provide highlights, notes, or anything....it doesn't have to be extensive or all inclusive...just something to start up the discussion.
Niecie, “I wasn’t expecting so many teens.” That is the only thing I don’t like about this novela so far.
"Ramses doesn't ask or suggest, he expects total obedience, no questions asked!" is chilling Rgv Chick and you nailed Ramses' evil essence. Leona knows exactly who he is and what he is capable of. I was on edge during their entire conversation. Does she really think she will keep her true identity from him? A man in his position can take no chances and I'm sure everyone who "works" in his house is thoroughly investigated. Ditto for David.
Josefa also frightens me. What a cold, steely stare!!
I agree about all the teens Niecie. In Camino, all the love stories were riveting (granted they were young adults and older couples, not youngsters). Here it's more puppy dog love so meh...
Not looking forward to seeing anything further from Calixto. Ack.
The story has really drawn me in, primarily from the three leads but Cantu even more so.
Diana
Diana, “A man in his position can take no chances and I'm sure everyone who "works" in his house is thoroughly investigated. Ditto for David.” You hit that nail right on the head. Ramses already ordered Calixto to do a thorough investigation on Leona. I can’t believe Leona wouldn’t thinking that; I hope she covered her tracks thoroughly.
Diana, I agree that the three leads and Cantu have me very intrigued with this story. Cantu is always excellent ...and terrifyibg when he plays the villain.
I think the idea of the teen storylines is an attempt to make the show appealing to younger people.
Can't wait to see how this story unfolds.

Part 1 of 5
Gerardo said “I don't believe this; where is the shame?” as he deliberately slammed the office door. Angela looked at him as though he was hallucinating and said “Nothing is happening here.” Gerardo commented “I catch you kissing and you call it nothing? Please, Mother, what nerve. How shameful.” Armando tried to divert Gerardo, saying they didn't owe him any explanation, “Your mother and I are good friends.” “Yes, such good friends you're in bed any time you can.” He looked athis mother “You are a slut, Mother”. She slapped him hard. Armando got up. “Respect your mother!” he said. “Respect is the last thing I owe you,” he said to her. “Now I understand what was up with Fuentes.” Angela tried to deny that any of this was related, merely that Armando needed to be told. “Now I know that your lover is more important than I am. Did you tell him that you dragged me into this?” Armando looked shocked for a second, then asked why he was there. Gerardo handed him the file and advised him of his medical condition. Armando looked at it, saying that these doctors exaggerated, then started saying “My doctor –” “Your doctor only tells you what you want to hear, If you don't take are your heart will not sustain another attack.” Angela looked back at Armando.
Silvia decided to go to work and tough it out. Antonia tambien.
Gerardo said he had no feelings about Armando's reaction but told Armando he needed to. Atmando accused him for interfering and Gerardo told him this was a medical duty on his part. Armando then forbade him from telling this to anyone, especially his family. Gerardo riposted with forbidding him from interfering in his marriage. When Armando laughed at him Gerardo reminded hi that if he dared to say anything to the police he would denounce his mother and Armando would be dragged into this as well. Angela asked Armando to let her talk to Gerardo. He did so, with a sarcastic tone inplying that this would fail.
After Armando left them alone in his office Angela called her son crazy and pleaded with him that Armando was their only hope to avoid being out in the streets. Gerardo advised her not to depend on Armando. Angela reminded hi that Elena values her father a hundred times more than him. She tried to get hi to persuade Armando to see a cardiologist “for me.” Gerardo shook his head. This was all too much. She asked to defer that conversation to another time. She just wanted him to get Armando to a specialist.
Antonia visited Andres. SSDD on alternating between hope and despair. He slipped a letter for Elsa for Antonia to give to Elsa. Neither knew that she already knew where he was.
Meche was on her way back for exams. Carlos and Aurora said encouraging things to her and she got into Hector's car.
Lamberto met with his divorce lawyer who said there was unlikely to be a problem.
Elsa and Nora talked about Andres and everyone else involved. Nora told Elsa she will miss her when she leaves.

Four Months Later
It must be rainy season; Nora was bored with the thunder, lightning, and rain. Elsa told her and Flor her due date was in fifteen days. Flor said it looked like it would be sooner.
At the Quiroga house Estela told the other kids she was going to see Elsa and Elsa would be coming back with her and a surprise. They tried to get her to spill but she would not. [WTF???]
Gerardo went back to his mother's house and found her unconscious at the foot of the stairs. [Pity she didn't buy the farm during the title credits]. She woke up in her bed, Gerardo having put her there. She didn't remember anything because she was inebriated. Gerardo told her to stop lying; she had consumed almost a full bottle. She was in denial. Gerardo told her the alcohol was killing her. She had been having hallucinations about Fuentes. She had also fired Rocio and she had received the divorce papers. He made her get up.
Meche came back having missed her friends and still without a novio [School is segregated].
Armando called Padre Reynaldo to tell him that he and Estela were going to Santa Ramona. The Padre looked nervous as he told Armando that the Sotomayor family was informed that the baby was due shortly. Armando said that was perfect and they will see each other at the airport that afternoon. The background chant as he ended the call sounded rather ominous.
Armando told Estela they needed to get to the airport. She was ready and eager to see Elsa and meet their first grandchild. He closed the door and told her the padre would be coming with them so he can baptize the baby, saying he knew she and Elsa would like that. Estela faked enthusiasm and Armando took her suitcase. As she watched his exit her room it was evident that she had her guard up.

Part 3 of 5
Metche visited her dad at his office and found Irene there as Hector's personal assistant.
As Angela tried to eat something Gerardo was removing all the booze from the house. Angela started to panic and Gerardo told her that if she can't resist it she was going to go into rehab. She put on her Crying Bitch Face and shaking her head, denying that she was an alcoholic. He went into all rooms and removed bottles from shelves, drawers, and closets. She followed him into the kitchen and he asked how many days had she locked herself in the house. She didn't remember, saying it must have been three or four. Gerardo told her that her isolation is all about distancing herself from friends and because of her sick passion for Armando. She said he was the only person who cared about her [That delusion may never die] and Gerardo pointed out that he was now with his family and happy. “Open your eyes, Mother.” “Why don't you stop hurting me? Why?”
Lamberto gave Andres his new birth certificate. They hugged only to be scolded by a guard.
Gerardo handed Angela her purse and he took her to work.
The rain poured in Sonora as Elsa and Nora played Chinese checkers. Demencia scolded them for not working and Nora pointed out that one can't work the land in the rain. Demencia insisted that she go into town to pick up the equine medications while Nora said that the roads would be bogged down. Despite that Demencia insisted she go immediately.
The next morning Lamberto told Silvia how things had gone, telling her that when he left Andres had said “Adios, Papa.” Hector called her about some important guests he was expecting and since Carlos wasn't available he wanted her to pick up the special sheets he needed for this. He was driving her.
Elsa told Flor that Nora was going to the pharmacy for the equine meds and Flor was shocked because of the weather and road conditions. The servants were almost in a panic. A car horn sounded. Flor opened the door and said “It's your Mama!” Elsa got to her feet with difficulty and was disconcerted when she saw her father. When he kissed and embraced her she put up her hands to puch him back. She was happy to see the padre. She called for Demencia who was uncharacteristically pleasant [Obviously or she wouldn't be bleeding Armando for dinero]. When she said she and Estela hadn't seen each other since they were children Armando commented about Estela's memory. He then mentioned to Demencia that Estela had some memory issues. Demencia then suggested they eat; she would make a great barbacoa and went off to the kitchen. Flor went to show them their accommodations. Armando and the padre were in the room alone. The padre said he was much anguished with the grave sin they were about to commit. “Doesn't this bother your conscience?” Armando said “No. It's better this way. The abortion didn't happen.”
Angela was in her office at the computer when she reached back for her purse which – of course – contained the flask. She took a sip and quickly closed it when someone knocked on the door. She stashed the flask behind some books and put her purse on the shelf above. Ingrid stepped in saying there was someone there to pick something up and Angela said alright. Once the door was closed again she took out her flask again. Another sip later she returned it to the lower bookshelf and came out of her office to find Silvia in the reception area.

Part 4 of 5
She was beyond rude to Silvia, going so far as “When you worked for me you weren't so efficient.” and refusing to hand anything over to her – or even to Hector since one is judged by the company they keep. Silvia refused to allow herself to be provoked but when Angela ordered her to leave Silvia asked Ingrid to bring a Coke because “this woman is being rude because she's had too much alcohol.” Angela then shoved her out the door and pushed her into the street. Fortunately Lamberto was there and he wasn't fooled by Angela's accusation that Silvia had come to provoke her. He sent Silvia to the car while he dealt with his nasty ex. He knew about Gerardo finding her at the foot of the stairs. Angela accused him of sending Silvia to her office to embarrass her. Lamberto pointed out that she had been cheating on him with Armando all along and now they were divorced. The bitch insisted that she was never to see him with her again. “Don't worry; it won't be for long. I have a job in the Capital and Silvia will be coming with me.” That shut her up very effectively.
Armando poured a couple of shots and handed one to the padre who put it on a side table. The padre asked him if he would retract his intentions; it would be a generous act. Armando laughed and told him he was going to fulfill his obligation to take the baby to the adoptive parents. Padre Reynaldo asked whether Elsa meant anything to him. She was very eager about the baby. Armando was still going to take away the baby and asked him “The adoptive are good people, aren't they? And we're doing the baby a favor and myself as well at least.” The padre asked if he thought Estela would permit this. Armando said he would handle this. She will have to get used to the idea that the baby will be born and not stay with us.” The padre said she would not consent. “She will not be asked. She will be informed. If you are thinking about warning her...She will be surprised. You can't ruin this. ”
Neither of the men realized that Elsa was just outside the door and heard this. She asked what was being ruined.
Angela thought she could laugh at this but Lamberto's cousin ran a similar business and he will have a coveted position at the company. She half-sneered at the prospect of Lamberto supporting Silvia. Lamberto told her he had a chance for a good life and all Angela could answer was “at the side of a woman who had been our servant.” There was more in this vein. She laughed again and Lamberto told her he didn't care what she thought. He was getting thoroughly fed up with her and said he was going far away so he would never have to see her again. He then went inside to pick up the sheets.

Part 5 of 5
Elsa asked “What are you supposed to be ruining?” The padre answered “Your child's baptism. Estela wanted it in San Juan and your father here.” “I prefer it be here. It's more discreet.” “And you didn't think to ask me?” Elsa said. “It's my baby.” “It's not about that. It's better for you,” Armando said. “Or for you,” she answered. “It's always about you. When you get to San Juan with my baby there will be no secret that Andres is the father. There will be the usual discretion, no more.” Armando looked like he was having a headache. “I don't want to hear more repeats of this.” “It's better that you get used to this, Papa. That is the reality and if it's that important that I'm not married well, let me marry Andres. What's the problem?” “If you girls provoke me one more time –” The padre said “Why don't we all calm down?”
Gerardo was having lunch or whatever with Antonia and took out some brochures for a weekend trip [What the –?] which sounded great until Antonia said that it has been difficult for her to see him every day. Their friendship was in danger. She apologized and told him she was in love with him. He looked shocked.
At the dinner table Armando and Demencia were talking about tractors and other related things when Elsa suddenly became nauseous. Elsa excused herself and started getting up. Flor helped her and a few steps away from the table her water broke.
Thank you, Urban, for your dedication and on a holiday none the less. What a wonderful title as well as recap!
My only new comment: I appreciated the time jump. Thank goodness for montages! My other comment contained my concerns about Padre Reynaldo still playing along with Armando for no good reason.
BTW: I found the 2017 Chilean original of this novela set in the 1950’s online and watched parts of a couple of episodes. First of all, they used a nice VARIETY of names: MARÍA Elsa, Estela and Isabel (Elena.) The novela was done up in the utmost 1950’s style with plenty of fedoras, the bulbous cars of the day, intricate costume jewelry and the “Elsa” and “Elena” sisters having hair pulling fights in their oh so proper!cotton full-skirted dresses. It was well worth the look.
Urban, a stellar job!"Parenthood and Other Hells" was perfect.
Gerardo told Armando "If you don't take are your heart will not sustain another attack" and his mother that "the alcohol was killing her". Both, especially Armando's heath are in grave peril but sadly just not fatal enough!
"The padre said he was much anguished with the grave sin they were about to commit". Really?? Estela is there but will she be able to help Elsa or will she be powerless against the unholy alliance of Armando and Padre Reynaldo? I'm shaking my head in pure disgust that the priest is "still playing along with Armando for no good reason" (which was excellent Jarifa).
I was surprised Antonia told Gerardo how she felt. That said, she should keep her distance and he should ensure she does so. He has to unload a lot of baggage, and her name is Elena.
I'm no Kreskin, but this is not boding well for anything. Or anyone.
Thank you for conveying all of the action so vividly Urban!
Diana
Thanks. This episode was so important that I had a lot of :30 instant replays to getting it right.
The first novela I ever recapped that had this many layers of lies being told to so many people was YNCELH. This one is compounded with secrets. Getting this all in the recaps is the key to keeping it straight and being able to figure out the characters' motives.
Jarifa, where does the Chilean version take place? I will check it out after I catch up on our new series. I wonder whether the small-town setting of this version is meant to compensate for the current-time update. Many people in small towns have very small minds.
Now it is looking like the padre is counting on Estela to help fight Armando about the baby. Since Elsa is now a legal adult Armando has no legal right to interfere. There are those who would say "His house, his rules" but forcing an adult daughter to give up her baby would not go over well for him.
Antonia seemed to have hit her breaking point. If she is planning on going to the capital with Silvia and Lamberto this confession will not matter to her situation. However, it is very likely that something will prevent this move.
So in addition to Elena's toxic rivalry with Elsa for their parents' attention we can add that Elsa had never been molested.
I think Gerardo's warnings to the adulterous ones are the predictions to their final fates. Whether either will confess their sins at that time I can't fully predict. The only guarantee I have is that if Armando dies in the finale it will be quite operatic.
Urban, thank you for that excellent recap that reported every dark, dastardly deed.
Angela is a mess, her own worst enemy . She is quickly spiraling down a slippery slope.
Was that trip that Gerardo talking to Antonia about for her or for the two of them ? If it was a trip for two.....QTH? Did Gerardo forget that he is married to that albatross around his neck?
Perhaps Padre is just playing along with crazy , delusional , controlling Armando . Perhaps padre has another plan in mind .
Gracias, Urban. Stellar recap. Yay, Gerardo said all the things to his mom that needed to be said. Thanks for that dialogue.
Poor Gerardo acquiescing to Armando's demand that Elena stop therapy. Elena will remain unlikable and there will be no sex, punto.
I want to slap Padre Reynaldo. Is he stupid or what? What's the worst Armando could do to him if he doesn't steal Elsa's baby for adoption? This is not only immoral, but criminal.
Maybe Gerardo meant for Antonia to use the two tickets for herself and a friend of her choosing, but she misunderstood it as a date for the two of them?
Lovely scene of Andres teaching the elder convict how to read.
Niecie, my favorite scenes are good hearted Andres tutoring the prisoner . He and Gerardo are a welcome contrast to the despicable characters in this show . They represent goodness and kindness .
So, so sad ... Julian Figueroa who played Leonardo in Mi Camino - has passed away. Only 27.
Condolences to his family. He left a young wife and child. RIP
Such sad news about Julian Figueroa - tragic and heartbreaking. Thank you for letting us know Anon.
Every moment of life is so precious. His family must be inconsolable. Death is always hard but especially for those taken far too soon and the grieving family left behind who never had the chance to say goodbye.
Diana
"I want to slap Padre Reynaldo. Is he stupid or what? What's the worst Armando could do to him if he doesn't steal Elsa's baby for adoption? This is not only immoral, but criminal".
Yes, totally confounding Niecie. I hope he does the right thing tonight and ensurses the birth goes smoothly and that Elsa's baby stays with her.
Diana
Plus, I can watch at my own pace which is usually binge-watching. I tried Perdona, but it didn't interest me; however, I've watched 3 episodes of Amor Invencible and like it so far.
