#40 – Parte 1 de 3

Chuy asks Alejandra where she’s been. He called her all day. She doesn’t explain. She gets close to him and says he has to say they were together. ¡Tienes que ser me coartada! (You have to be my alibi.) “I need you to protect me." [OK. Fine body and all, I’m over Chuy. He must have inhaled too many pesticides working in the Del Rio garden. He doesn’t ask her WHY she needs an alibi?]

César comes home looking destroyed. He doesn’t tell Elvira nor Noelia where he was all day. He embraces his mother and asks her to pray.

A cop at the amusement park asks FJ if he’s Adriana’s husband. He says he’s not, nor a family member. He gives his name and politely says he has to make a call. He calls Camila and asks her to let César know that Adriana just died.

César remembers a recent time with Adriana when she told him she hated his reproachful looks. She tells him that he never knew her. She’s someone he invented as a mother, as a wife. “You never took the time to really know me. I had to die for you to “see” me!”

Renata begins her favorite pastime, nagging Pascual for not picking up her calls. He says that he got a massage from someone who wouldn’t stab him in the back. He also tells her that women don’t leave him; he leaves them. “You tried to poison me, but still stayed with me. And Eva just now tried to get me back.” He tells her that he can always find someone, while she has three children who can’t stand her. He says that only one lives with her and that’s because he’s under house arrest.

FJ calls his father to tell him that Adriana died.

Inés, smiling into her laptop, tells Tomás she has appointments to prepare for the implantation. Cami approaches Inés (and Tomás, who’s on Facetime with Inés) that Adriana was murdered.

Ale continues working Chuy for the alibi. Olga comes in and tells the perra that Chuy is on the clock for his job, and she should leave.

Another flashback to a scene we saw before. Adriana tells Cesar which dress she insists on being buried in. And that she knows she’ll die first because she doesn’t want to get old.

Linda comes to tell Cesar that the San Diego police told them that Adriana was murdered.

#40 – Parte 2 de 3

Alejandra (más perra que nunca) asks Tomás who killed “her”. He tells her that her nephew is going to be the child of Adriana Molina. Another flashback. We see Adriana having a tequila shot after she just had her eggs extracted. She laughs and says she deserves a drink. But she doesn’t let him have one. We see how he got that necklace that Cesar found in Tomás’ bedroom. Adriana gave it to Tomás. Then she moves into the bar and talks flirtatiously with FJ.

FJ comes home and screams at Ale that she killed Adriana Molina.

Cami comes to see César. Linda looks on sourly as they embrace. Linda asks how she knew about the killing, and Cami says that her brother was there. Linda keeps giving Cami the side eye, while César says he doesn’t know how to tell Noelia.

Back to the Zoo. FJ again yells that Ale killed her and Renata and Pascual come in.

César breaks the news to Noelia. He tells her that Linda gave him some sad news. Mamita ya no está. Se fue al Cielo.. Once again Noelia behaves oddly. While her father talks about angels in heaven, the kid’s face is frozen.

FJ says that Ale killed Adriana because she was going to denounce her for kidnapping. Ale fires back that he was in love with that perra when he married her. He fires back that there’s no reporters here to see her show. She tells him that that woman only despised him and left him for money. Chuy jumps in before FJ can get to her.

Linda talks with Cami. Cami says that Adriana told her she had to escape when she saw her at the foundation. Elvira seems to look a bit guilty, maybe for not saying César was away all day.

Noelia asks her father for a doll that looks like her mother, with the same hair.

juego

#40 – Parte 3 de 3

Chuy rags on FJ for not respecting his wife. FJ tells his mother that she ought to be happy now that Adriana is dead. FJ and Ale shoot barbs at each other. La perra asks if his shirt has “her” blood on it. He offers to lend it to her to show to the press. She can tell them she tried to save her once again. “Maybe you’ll rise some more in the polls.”

Eva insists on personally cleaning up Pascual’s office and finds the amusement park ticket in Pascual’s wastebasket.

César tells Elvira, Cami, and Linda that Noelia is behaving oddly. Linda tells him he has to come with her, as the husband of the victim.

Cami talks with Noelia. This kid is so odd. She coolly asks if her father went to get a coffin. She prefers that her mother be put in the sea, so she could go to Spain.

Vero jumped on the first thing smoking to arrive at the San Diego amusement park and get in front of a camera.

César sees Adriana’s body. He’s quite broken up. He asks why she had to lie to him. Why she had to cause Noelia such pain. “I loved you very much.”

Days Later

Noelia refuses to leave her room for the memorial being held at César’s house. She’s holding onto the barbie doll that she addresses as “Mamita”. FJ comes and tells César he’s very sorry about what happened. They both are very civil.

Renata rants to Tomás about 2 of her 3 children being at Adriana’s memorial. Tomás replies that he’d obviously be there if it weren’t for the house arrest. Tomás picks up on her mention of his father having been away the day it happened.

Eva lords it over Pascual with the amusement park ticket in her hand. She tells him she found it in his wastebasket. Whoops!

I miss DAMAS. The scenes with her in them were all fantastic.

Thanks a lot, VVS and Novelera, for the amazing recaps. I have zero time these weeks, but I thought I should comment.

Chuy is getting VERY annoying each episode. I mean, seriously, he didn't even ask Ale why she wanted an alibi? He's either stupid or he knows something/is involved somehow. "Fine body and all, I’m over Chuy. He must have inhaled too many pesticides working in the Del Rio garden" was exactly right novelera!

Speaking of Ale, "más perra que nunca" was perfect.

I also loved "Back to the Zoo."

I'm SO over Renata and Pasqual. They deserve each other.

I also think Pasqual's ticket is a red herring. We know the writers; they just want to confuse us more

I also think Noelia's behavior is very odd. Is there a chance DAMAS isn't dead, planned this to leave again and told Noelia that she shouldn't tell anyone? Okay, a stretch, but...

I just thought of something that could explain Noelia's odd behavior, especially the scene with the doll which was kind of creepy. Maybe DAMAS had some sort of disorder or schizophrenia or something and Noelia inherited it? Someone here had mentioned that maybe DAMAS had multiple personality disorder. Noelia could have easily inherited it. This kid is creeping me out sometimes.

Thanks again!

Juego

Novelera, thank you for a great review of the continuing angst and woe.

I feel so sorry for that little girl . She needs to talk to a therapist. The adults are having trouble dealing with all the crazy chaos that DAMAS has generated far and wide. Noelia is in shock . She was just reunited with her Missing mother , and now she is told that she has gone to the sky. Missing again ? That poor child is traumatized .

As for the adults,... whatever. Ale continues her hateful campaign while holding Chuy charmed at her feet. I like that Olga is not intimidated by the senator and sees her for what she is and knows that she is using Olga's son as a boytoy\ bodyguard\partner in crime . Go , Olga. Call that phony bologny out.

I cannot imagine being married to someone you despise. That sounds like agony .

The body count is up to 4 , right? I think it will rise. So many unhappy people.

Terrific recap novelera! Your asides were spot on to what I was thinking during the episode. This was the first episode that made me cry.

"Más perra que nunca" fits how Ale was acting last night. I wish I could have seen Chuy’s shoes, that would help me determine if he was in that bunny suit.

Cesar is about to be in big trouble. He and his mom didn’t even get their stories straight before talking to Detective Linda. It is only a matter of time before some security camera footage puts him at the scene. Hopefully is also catches the chase of the bunny.

I actually felt sorry for FJ last night. He after all was the only one who really knew DAMAS and I do think she cared about him. I cheered FJ on as he called out Ale and all her phoniness. She only cares about the election polls.

Poor Noelia has been brainwashed to be stoic by Adriana her whole life. I also felt a bit creeped out in her reaction to her mother’s death. The little girl playing the role is doing a great job.

I hope everyone can enjoy a shot of tequila or a margarita on this Cinco de Mayo!

Thanks for the recap, Steve.

Emotional episode. Even though we expected it, I’m very upset about El Super Javi, QEPD. Where was that ambulance? La DEA let him die like a dog in the street! He was one of the best ESLDC characters and I’ll miss him. He wanted to go out on his own terms and wanted to protect Rutila till the end. Too bad he didn’t take Manzano with him.

Juego

thanks so much novelera for another wonderful recap! It's so nice when you lay out the story as it fills in the holes.

loving how big Ed is taking over, women don't leave him even when he poisons them.

Linda is pretty sharp, Elvira said Cesar was shopping with her, Cami said Cesar told her he had to go to the police station.

yes, I'll miss Adriana too, plus with Rocio also gone, will we ever get her back story? (but will there be a funeral at the club)

the actress playing Noelia does her parts so well, I too think that Adriana primed her for her death, so she wants a doll with Adriana's hair that she can dress real nice like Mariana, and in the end she tells the doll,

"don't worry mommy, I won't leave you here alone"

Juego

I just watched the Bad Bugs Bunny scene again. So funny when Bugs turned to see Cesar staring at him. What's up, Doc? It looked like an athletic young man by the way he ran. Maybe jealous Ale did talk Chuy into shooting DAMAS.

I'm very sorry, novelera, to have come so late to the party and to your superb recap. Alas, I can do little more than echo the points and the praise others have already expressed.

Count me as another former admirer now deserting a sinking Chuy. Yes, perhaps he has indeed inhaled too many pesticides from the Del Rio garden. What else could prevent him from asking Ale WHY they need an alibi. Unless, of course, he or she was the murderous bunny. As besotted as he is with la perra, I can't really see him willing to commit murder for her. And he claims he's been trying to reach her without success all day. That, too, would seem to rule him out as the bunny. As for Ale, I'd believe almost any bad thing about her, but I don't see her as the bunny either. Perhaps because she always moves so stiffly--it's thus hard for me to picture her moving with the bunny's speed. Also, how would either of them know about and have access to the backpack?

With half the novela still to come (if indeed it has 80 episodes), it would seem strange to solve the major mystery so soon.

I too am creeped out at Noelia's change. The actor playing her does creepy very skillfully, but I'm hoping she doesn't drag this on much longer.

I can't control the show, but I can prevent my remarks from dragging on any longer. It's almost time for the next episode. Again, novelera, MANY MANY thanks!

#41

Eva threatens Pascual about the ticket she found. She wants the car of her dreams

Linda tries to convince GumChew about Ale’s possibly killing Adriana, but he only goes after vulnerable suspects.

Cami gives Noelia the party line about her mother watching her from heaven, but not as a ghost on earth.

FJ moves back home while Renata, of course, thinks he should stay with Ale.

Cami and Cesar talk about the ceremony to throw DAMAS’ ashes in the sea. Linda arrives to show Cesar the security camera picture of him we’ve all known would come. She behaves more like a scorned girlfriend than a cop about his lying. He tells her what happened.

Big Ed apologizes to Tomas, and they embrace.

At some ceremony Noelia talks more with Cami about her mother. Barros brings a letter that was found with Adriana. Cami reads it, and Noelia finally breaks down sobbing while Elvira and Cami comfort her.

Cesar comes to Pluto to get fake passports for he and Noelia.

Tomas brings Ines, his surrogate, to dinner to explain what will happen to his dysfunctional family. Renata, of course, insults her.

Cesar tells Elvira he’s leaving the country with Cami, but he doesn’t tell Cami.

Pluto comes to threaten Ale. [How did he know where she lives?] He’d also like some sex while he’s at it. She eventually agrees to cover up some of his crimes.

Chuy smiles when Olga tells him about FJ moving back home. He gets a call from Ale: “I’ve got him!”

Ale and Pluto have cooked up something, and Pluto insists FJ meet him somewhere.

OT/"SENOR 8":

Susanlynn: Thank you for the birthday wishes.

I've got a bad feeling that Roberta & Mecha will get whacked by Crazy Tracy on "SENOR 8". Considering Mecha is pregnant, I'm afraid she'll lose the baby too.

juego

Thanks VERY much, novelera, for this concise and skillfully on target recap.

I love (and agree with) your calling Cami's account to Noelia "the party line."

I couldn't believe that César wouldn't/didn't tell Cami he planned to leave and why. My guess is that she would have been willing to go with him. If he really disappears without telling her, we're likely to have umpteen episodes of a very hurt Cami wanting nothing more to do with him. I do wonder whether she'll wind up pregnant, and that will be how he returns (if, indeed, he leaves).

GumChew almost never says or does anything I agree with, but I did agree with him when he told Linda that whoever killed Adriana was a pro. Not just the accuracy of the shots but also the bunny outfit (so no danger of being caught on a security camera) and planting the backpack. Who would even know about the backpack or have access to it? I think that leaves out just about all the characters we've seen, even Ale and Chuy. Or does it?

Speaking of the bunny outfit, why in the world doesn't César mention this to Linda after she's told him he (César) has been caught on camera? He also should have told her he tried to catch the bunny but failed. His silence about this makes no sense to me.

So Ale and Pluto are now in cahoots. Sigh. I wonder what they've cooked up that will cause FJ to "have to swallow his words."

Again, MANY THANKS!!

Juego

Novelera, thank you for the recap of the drama and continuing mystery.

Ale has a tiger by the tail now that she is conspiring wth smarmy Pluto . I was amazed that she was strong enough to fight him off. Ale seems to be of pretty hardy , tough stock. She is scary large and in charge. Chuy is pathetic letting this witch manipulate him . After watching Big Bugs Bunny again, it sure seemed like a very fit, athletic guy the way it hopped , jumped, and ran .Who fits that description ...except Chuy.

Juego

****I accidentally posted this on the previous page and I'm copying here:

I'm finally catching up this afternoon. There are 100 other things I SHOULD be doing but I'm out of steam...thank you all for all the recent recaps! All the twists keep twisting and the turns get sharper!!!

I do think of all the options we've seen so far Chuy is the most bunny like - but I don't think he was THE bunny. It's a large jump from amante to cold blooded murder and he's always been so quick to push FJ at DAMAS because he clearly wanted DAMAS to break up FJ and Ale, I don't think he could have been convinced to her DAMAS instead overnight. I suspect the bunny is someone we haven't met yet, or a hired gun for someone we do know.

I still suspect Ray as Cara Sucia!!! I know that the established family and well off background doesn't fit - but I think Ale's picture perfect family is as fake as the rest of her life and manufactured for the political career??? I don't know....I'm probably wrong but it's staying at the top of my crockpot theories.

There's a couple of things I noticed that I haven't seen mentioned I wanted to comment on:

First, when around was running away and Cesar dropped the fake passport and the girl picked it up and gave it back to him and told him he needed to leave, the camera purposefully zeroed in on her name tag - it has to be important later....right?! LOL Her name is Bernice Lopez.

Second, 'Mariana' didn't seem to recognize FJ at the Park or respond to his calling her, or respond to the name 'Mariana'. Even once she was looking at him she didn't show any recognition in her face or any response to him. We see 'DAMAS' earlier running into the fashion designer and claiming she didn't know him or have any idea what he was talking about. DAMAS is capable of feigning all sorts of things of course, but what if that truly wasn't her? It's back to the twin theory, but for now at least I am not convinced that was DAMAS that was shot....what is DAMAS was in the bunny suit???

Juego

It's weird though that Ale needs an alibi....if she isn't somehow involved what does she need an alibi for? This brings me back to my suspicion of Ray, because if Ray did it, he could have told his sis! But then Ray was at the foundation with Cami, but he could have had a hired gun do it.

Juego

once again, thank you very much for the recap novelera, you were working overtime this week.

wow, so FJ gets married and now he is out of a house.

interesting watching big Ed's face after the person he is talking to leaves.

not sure what GumChew was doing showing everyone his necklace.

I've gotten the idea rich people don't kill people (except each other) because of the liability, etc, but they could have someone else do the deed. As far as Pascual being guilty, I'm waiting to see what happens to Eva, I'm not seeing her driving around in a new car.

a sticking point for me is I don't think Ale kidnapped Adriana, Luisa spoke of a man (maybe that computer voice that called FJ early on) I think Ale was just using the situation and that there was another person involved.

also Adriana's strategy is to leave Cesar out of it so he can take care of Noelia, so there is the part of who is setting him up. And earlier, who (and why) set up Tomas for Jacinta's killing.

and then there is the gran amor, Cesar and Camila, Cami snuggles with everyone and Cesar's first impulse is to lie to her. I'm thinking Linda might be a better match, (but then what would Noelia have to say).

juego

Thanks, all, for the kind words on the recaps. I must say these writers are doing a really good job of mystifying us.

Deb, how I loved “What’s up, doc?” And, Juanita, I also loved the metaphor of Viewerville leaving a “sinking Chuy”.

ITA about those wondering why Chuy would so desperately ask Ale where she’d been if he were inside the bunny suit. Also I didn’t notice the bunny having wide shoulders.

Eva’s asking for the car of her dreams is definitely an LA stereotype. Believe the photo Pascual got was of a sports car, convertible of course.

I really enjoyed Tomás and his father’s reconciliation. And I don’t really think Pascual killed DAMAS. I’m just leaning toward DAMAS having seduced him for some benefit she got. He has said, twice I believe, that she was the worst thing that ever happened to him.

Anyone else think Barras was coming with the security camera printouts when it was actually something kind (surprising) bringing the letter for Noelia?

I believe we can rule out FJ and César as the killers since we saw both of them at the amusement park at a distance from DAMAS, and then César chased Bunny Suit.

Darcy, ITA about Adriana assuming the Mariana personality when she arrived at the hotel in San Diego. Presumably she used Renata’s money for that. Although, if it were me, I’d stay in a cheaper place to let the money last longer! And I also noticed the blank look that the person who was shot gave to FJ. So…multiple personality disorder and she’s really dead, or a twin? “Someone” called FJ to ask him to meet her at the park. And they STILL haven’t explained who she was supposed to have dinner with the night before “someone” died. I can’t imagine that the scene of her dying while the hospital personnel tried to resuscitate her could have been faked.

Anyway, it’s been fun!

Juego

I loved the "what's up doc" too!
but that was Susanlynn.

Juego

I'm super late, but thanks, novelera for the amazing recap!

So the first things Eva does when she finds that ticket is ask for a car? Huh. So except from a almost-killer she is also a blackmailer.

Could the hired assassin that was hired to kill Adriana in the first place, Luisa, be the bunny?

Amazing comments and discussion, everyone! I really loved hearing -well, reading- your point of view!
