Vino. Oh my goodness! Vino el amor is set in Napa, CA, which is where I'm from The vineyards are mostly upvalley, and it looks very likely that those scenes were filmed there. The hills that surround most of the valley seem quite authentic. Of course the writers etc., then blow it by making the nearest town Sonoma, which is actually on the other side of the hills in Sonoma County. The relevant towns near the vineyards in Napa County would be Yountville, St. Helena or Calistoga. Maybe the writers thought the town of Sonoma is more picturesque, or maybe it was easier to get permission to film there. I'm sure I'm 1 of the few people who noticed, but it did make me wish they'd set it someplace else. :)

SpanProf - yep. I was reading the original recap of the first showing of Vino and they said it was filmed in Sonoma County even though it was billed as Napa. My family lives in Crescent City which is further north but it's definitely a beautiful area of the country!

It's interesting Cynthia Klitbo playing a good character. I guess she has done both but I've only ever seen her in villain roles so that's different for me. I still think it's going to difficult to watch Christian de la Campa play the bad boy, but I'm willing to give it a shot. I started watching this when it originally aired - it was actually the first novela I ever commented on on Carey, but I think I only commented once. I gave up on it the first time, mostly because it didn't have English subtitles and my Spanish wasn't as good back then, it was hard to follow. Made easier by the recaps, but still I got discouraged. We'll see how it goes this time.

Speaking of recaps, for anyone who is watching and wants to read the original recaps to follow along, you can find Vino el Amor listed on the right hand side of the blog homepage and it links to an index of the former recaps. I plan to read there and then comment and discuss here.

Vino

Looks like it got pre-empted today because of Trump's court appearance.

I watched today, it was a hard episode to watch. All the cartel guys going after the little girl to sell her, disgusting. I hope this is spoiler but I think it's well known about the plot that the majority of this show takes place after Luciana (the little girl) grows up so I'm hoping the time jump happens quickly because I would like to not watch cartel guys go after little girls.

One thing that they commented on on the original recap of this episode is that Christian sounds like he speaks English very well and it reminded me of something that made me laugh in Tierra de Reyes (another show he did) it was in a scene where his character was on a date, but they were in the background while the actors in the foreground were doing the actual talking. You could just seeing them acting all lovey-dovey while the others looked on, Christian's mic probably should have been off but it wasn't and you can hear him teasing his costar as he goes to kiss her hand and saying 'I'm going to bite you' in English! It's extremely softly spoken and the other actors were in the middle of conversation so I'm pretty sure that audio wasn't supposed to be there especially since the characters never spoke to each other in English any other time. Either way, I'd say he's probably bi-lingual, if Wiki can be trusted he was born in Texas.

Not much I actually want to say about the episode. It was a lot of everyone reacting to the deportation. Marta and son being devestated, Lilian being smug, David trying to find a way to help, Juan pretending he was trying to help. Marcos trying to figure out what to do while the cartel was eyeing Luciana.

Vino. I hope the coyote doesn't succeed in kidnapping and selling Luciana! The attempt itself would probably be traumatic.
