ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS #21/22 Page One

Highlights from the couch . . .

Things really were moving tonight!

ROGELIO has a calm talk with Erika. She reminds him to make sure that Paula gets all of the tests she has prescribed. Neither is comfortable with her having attended to Paula. They agree that they need to tell Lucas and Paula who is who/the truth but Rogelio just wants a bit more time (really?)until Paula is feeling better. Erika understand but it needs to be done SOON. Later, Paula asks Erika to be her doctor. Erika tries to get out of it but when Lucas whines enough, she gives in.

ERIKA still has it bad for Rogelio.

PAULA goes for her blood tests but finds out that her pregnancy might have some issues. The blood tests showed that there could be a chromosomal abnormality which could result in birth defects fro the baby. She needs an amniocentesis.

MARTINA is having a hard time keeping everything and everyone under control. She goes to see Erika to ask to be a part of Lucas' life. Erika says no way. She wants no part of her in Lucas' life and tells Rogelio the same later. While she is at Erika's, Martina loses her butterfly pin that Lucas later returns to her when he and his mother are invited to supper by Paula. When Erika and Lucas are at supper, Paula notices that there is an odd vibe going on. Martina slips up and actually calls Marco Lucas' uncle at one point. Later, Rogelio tells Martina to stay out of his life one more time.

BLANCA goes to group therapy and back to school. She makes a friend named Tamarawho has experienced most of what she has on her first day.

IMELDA is pregnant.

ERIKA's tests show that her cancer status has not changed since leaving the USA. That is good news. Her doctor says now is the time for immunotherapy.

LEONARDO is still working with Ignacio. Ignacio invites him and Imelda over for supper. Fernando remarks that the dish that Irma prepared was his father's favorite. Ignacio adds it was his father's favorite, too.

IMELDA is still up to no good. When at Ignacio's house with Fernando, Irma catches her snooping but not before Imelda gets a look of a photo of a man and a boy. (Could it be Hipólito and Ignacio? )Also, Imelda hasn't given up on showing Paula the photo of Erika and Rogelio and is going to Paula's new house to do it.

FELIPA and Melitón go to the fertility clinic. Melitón has a hard time with the blood tests and has no idea how they count sperm.

EVERYONE is moving. Imelda and Fernando are going to have their own place and Rogelio announces he is moving out the next day with Paula after another run in with his mother. They want her aunt and Blanca to come with them. Since everyone is leaving , Martina decides she is moving to Mexico City. She is also going the next day and will take Micaela and Honorio with her. They will spend some time at the country house first before making her final move. Imelda's mother Beatriz thinks she should stay on at the Villa Morelia. She could have it all for herself. Imelda isn't interested if there is nobody to boss around. Imelda and Fernando blame Martina and Rogelio for the familial mess because she has always favored him and allowed him to do whatever he wants.

MARCO tells Luis he is having a hard time now that Blanca is ignoring him. Luis tells him to leave her alone and give her time to regain her strength.. His lesson is to learn to take care of those you love because love is very fragile. Marco tells Paula that Rogelio has been like a father to him and he wants her to convince him to stay at the family home. If she doesn't , he will never have any use for her. (Really??? What jackassery!) He is also upset that Blanca is moving with them. Later when he is with his novia, he throws a classist tantrum at a motorcycle racing event when they have lost HIS entry form. In anger, he jumps on his motorcycle and goes racing away and crashes on the road.

That is it for tonight. Please add anything I left out.

ETERNAMENTE

I am actually glad that it looks like Imelda is going to tell Paula the truth already but will it all be derailed because of Marcos’ accident? Sure hope not. Paula is in a crazy making situation.

ETERNAMENTE

Thank you for the fabulous recap Jarifa.

"MARTINA is having a hard time keeping everything and everyone under control" was exactly right! What is a controlling mama to do when everyone wants to flee the nest?

My first thought when Imelda went snooping was that the picture was definitely Hipólito and Ignacio. I'm sure her devious little wheels are spinnning in overdrive. She is unbearable.

As a physician, given the situation, (Paula not knowing Erika is Rogelio's ex or that Rogelio is Lucas' father combined with the fact she is in love with him as you noted), I think Erika taking Paula on as a patient would be considered unethical; or at the least, highly inappropriate. To be honest, I think she and Rogelio are far better suited than Rogelio and Paula. Paula is too good and too pure for him. How do I feel about Rogelio? Not a hater but not a fan. (Right Darcy?? :))

Is Martina softening a bit toward Paula or am I delusional (very possible LOL)

I thought I saw most of this but didn't see Marco crashing. He's an ass but I hope he is all right.

El amor invencible, Capitulo 78

Part 1 of 3

In case we didn’t like it the first time around, we get to see Leona dump Gael all over again, while he just sits there, THANKING her. She does say that this doesn’t mean she doesn’t love him, she just can’t get over what he has done… Booooo
She actually says she fantasized about reuniting their family, but she just can’t because his fear was bigger than his love. She will talk to their kids about it and to his kids, too, she wants to keep being part of their lives. All that Gael does is cry and say he loves her, even as she pulls away.

Now alone, Leona is still crying, when Oliver sees her. They share a moment and then Josefa, Camila and the kids arrive and Leona asks for a hug from all of them. As Oliver and Danilo leave, Gael arrives to tell them he has made a decision: he never paid for being an indirect accomplice of his father’s, he can’t live with this guilt, be worthy of his kids. He should have went to the cops about his father many years ago, but never did.
Therefor he has decided to turn himself in, he has covered for Ramses for so many years, if he speaks up now maybe the wheels of justice will start turning and Ramses will get caught.
Everyone protests but Leona, who at first looks shocked, but then kind of … proud? If this is not a heroic move than I don’t know what is.
She does say that Gael doesn’t have to do this for her sake, and Josefa begs him not to do it, too, but Gael has made up his mind. They are strong women, they will be fine on their own. Besides they have Matias, David (barf), Benja, Cristobal, Theo. Nobody will change his mind, not even Leona. Besides, they are getting a divorce.
The kids take this badly, AnaJu can’t understand why he’d do this now, when they have a chance at a new beginning, Kika is afraid she and Oliver will be all alone, they no longer have their mother, Leona will leave, too and he will go to jail.
But Gael needs to make amends, he’s caused too much pain to so many people.
Leona says that if Josefa allows it, she will keep living at the house, be with the kids, but she repeats he can’t do this for her. Geez, have you considered that maybe he is doing this for HIMSELF, too?
Josefa is afraid this will ruin their family, but Gael is doing it to heal them and to bring them all closer together. He hugs his kids.

Columba has another plan to destroy Leona, this time with poison. Whateves …

David tells Benja about Lola and Jerm being in jail, while Jacinta goes to visit her daughter. They both cry, Lola apologizes for everything she has ever said and done to her mother. She begs her mother to help her get out of jail, while Jerm looks on from his own cell. He tries to make Jacinta feel guilty, so she puts him in his place: a good father would have never exposed and exploited Lola like this. Jerm does make a point when he says Lola chose her own path.
Lola keeps apologizing to her mom, Jacinta says what she is living now will change her. Flor arrives to ask Jacinta to leave for now and she does, after telling Lola to pray, God will help her. She and Flor go, both very sad, while Lola sobs.

El amor invencible, Capitulo 78

Part 2 of 3

In case someone forgot about what Ramses did to Calixto, we get a very telling reminder: Cal in the middle of a bed, arms and legs cut off, while Ramses tells him this is what he gets for what he tried to do to AnaJu. Calixto looks shocked beyond belief.
His hands still trembling, Ramses offers Cal a sip of his whiskey. He tells him about Lola being in jail, but he knows she didn’t have any part in AnaJu being taken. Cal sees Ramses’ tremor and remembers changing his pills, thought bubbles “die” while actually smiling lightly. Nice to see mutilation didn’t change his core values.

AnaJu is still crying over Gael going to jail, feels there is no need for that, she has forgiven him and wants a life with him. Leona can’t believe he’d do this, either, but understands he wants to show them all he has changed, he’s a better man, one who actually deserves their forgiveness.

Gael tries to make Josefa and Camila see what he’s doing is to redeem himself in his eyes, too. He’s spent years thinking about those poor women, seeing their faces everywhere. But he was too scared to act. He even put his own daughter at risk. Josefa says he couldn’t have done more, Ramses would have killed him. (THANK YOU!) But Gael thinks he should have killed his father instead. He wants to send a message to all those women who suffered because of his silence. And when he comes out he hopes everyone will be able to see him with love and respect and he will be able to look at them with dignity. AnaJu listens to the conversation from behind the door.

Itzel comes to visit Benja at the hospital with a huge care package. Cute kissing scene.

Gael continues his farewell tour with AnaJu. She overheard him and her heart is breaking over his decision. Gael is sorry to do this now when they have a second chance, but no, he’s not doing this because of her past accusations. Never change, keep being who you are, he adds. AnaJu tells him she wants to help women who have been traumatized, but she needs his help to do it. Gael is sure she will be able to do it on her own, she has taught him so much already, ever since she was born. AnaJu is so proud of him, she understands he’s not perfect, but he’s trying to be a better person. And then she says “I love you, dad”. Gael is crying, AnaJu is crying, I am probably maybe crying (definitely). They hug it out!
Leona sees them from outside with an odd look on her face. Could it be she finally SEES the man Gael has become?

Gael then talks to Matias, who is the only one not trying to convince him to give up on his plan. To the contrary, he understand and is very proud of him. Gael apologizes for not being a better brother while they were growing up. Matias says he has worked through it, he has thought him a coward for many years, but now he understand the type of power Ramses had over him. But his love for Leona and the kids have changed him. Gael asks Matias to be there for the family while he’s away, Matias says they won’t need him because Gael has taken care of everything already. And they will all be here, waiting for him to get back.

In the next scene they are all together, one last hug from everyone, with Leona waiting for Gael to finish. Oliver is taking it particularly bad, he calls for his father several times, while Gael, accompanied by Leona, walks away, crying. So much crying today.

El amor invencible, Capitulo 78

Part 3 of 3

When they arrive at the police station Gael turns himself in as a silent accomplice to his father’s many crimes: human trafficking, killing Marena’s family and so on and so forth. The press just happens to be there (inside a police station) and they jump on him with questions. Gael says his father is a criminal and his two accomplices are Calixto and Columba. And he has covered for him for many years, he’s now here to fess up. Ramses says the video and calls his son an imbecil.

Matias tells Josefa and Camila that their lawyer thinks it will be a speedy trial, they need to get Gael back with the family. Matias gets a message letting them know the company stock is plummeting, too.

Leona and Gael are at the station. He asks her to take care of their four kids, he loves them just as much as he loves her. She will never abandon them, she promises, and remembers a moment many years ago, while they were teens. And now he is proving once again that he can take charge and take care of everyone. This is the biggest proof of love he could have ever given her. She will miss him so much.
Some cops arrive to arrest him for covering for organized crimes. Gael says that when he will be free, he will finally be the man she deserves. They hug and it’s a tight, soulmates hug.
Then Gael is taken to a cell, where he runs into Jerm. He hasn’t forgotten Jerm’s part in AnaJu’s ordeal, so he pushes him around a little bit.

Leona has come to see Benja, who is still with David, telling them what Gael has done. They are both surprised, Benja understand why he did it, but thinks it’s unnecessary. And he never even got to talk to him before. David promises to take him to see Gael as soon as possible, after all he will always be his bio father (how noble of you to remember).
Benja wonders why Gael would do this now. Leona explains it was a proof of love, he did it after she told him they needed to break up. David is surprised when he finds out they are divorcing, when Leona looks at him he actually smiles, hope reborn all over his stupid face.

Flor comes to tell Jerm he is being transferred to a real prison. Lola asks what will happen with her, but her situation hasn’t been decided yet. How sad she didn’t choose a better path, Flor says. After she leaves, Lola remembers several moments in the past she was nasty with her family and cries some more. At home, Jacinta is crying, too, her daughter destroyed her life.

Matias tells Camila the proof against Gael is serious, especially since all the dirty money was in his name. Ramses covered his tracks very well, now the police are looking into figuring out if Gael gained something from the transactions. Besides he told the cops that he was the one who forced Leona to transfer all the money back to Ramses. Camila suggest they contact Marco, he can testify in Gael’s behalf. She is very afraid of Cal, Columba and their father, they are all still free.

Leona is slowly going to her car in a dark parking garage (oh, boy!), wondering where her driver might be. Sure enough, he’s dead or unconscious, but Leona doesn’t have the time to act, because Columba appears out of nowhere, dressed as a nun and threatening her with a gun.
Leona accuses Columba of what happened with Benja, they are both mothers, how could she? It was her choice to become Ramses’ ally, she sold her soul just as much as she sold all those women. She has no humanity. Columba says men don’t humanity and Leona assures her that Ramses has been using her all this time, he loves nobody. But no, Columba says she was using him, it was her intelligence that helped him gain his power. Leona asks if it was all worth it, lie to Gael, lose her family. Columba says Leona is no better, she hurt all those people, too, and she didn’t even have the courage to finish with her revenge plans.
Leona points out that Columba’s kids love her, and she managed to finish with Ramses’ empire. Will she put her unborn kid in danger now? Columba says there is no more baby and once again threatens Leona with her gun.

Eternamente 22/23

Gracias, Jarifa. You caught all the important stuff.

I think Rogelio's discomfort is mostly from never having thought of the possibility of this situation. Since Erica's name was a curse word in the household and he didn't know she was pregnant when she left this didn't seem to be anything he had to tell Paula about. He also didn't know about Martina's threats. This also sounds like he never brought any other girlfriends home to meet his Momster and he is finally getting a look at who she really is.

My guess is that now Martina is looking to move closer to him and Paula with the ultimate objective of taking their child.

Marco is a spoiled brat for thinking he can blackmail Rogelio out of moving. It's time for him to grow the hell up.

Fernando complains about being second best? Dude, you aren't even that. You aren't even smart enough yo recognize that your wife is either frigid or repulsed by you.

More later.

ETERNAMENTE

Thanks, Diana. ITA about Rogelio. He needs to be tempered. I couldn’t believe that he still was pushing off telling Paula the truth about him and Erika. Looks like Imelda could beat him to it. As for Martina, she told somebody ? she was tolerating Paula because she was carrying her grandchild. So much for any real affection except as an incubator. She made me laugh having bought all the color neutral baby clothes online. I am surprising myself when I say I enjoying the slower pace of this novela. It was a nice break when the kids came out to sing to Paula. Let there be more musical performances to help balance out the double episodes.

Invencible

First, my favorite line " I am probably maybe crying (definitely.)" Loved that so much ...and ...me,too.

Cher Adriana, I couldn't wait to read your take on this episode. Your detailed of all the tears, fears ,and heartache was outstanding. WOW WOW.

So, The writers said to themselves , " Well, we have emasculated Gael at every turn of this tale which is almost over , but what else could we do to him while he is still recovering from getting shot in the leg and out of commission as far as rescuing his beloved daughter....and still wearing a boot and using crutches ???? Hey.....jail !!! OMG....I. Can't. Even. Did he contact his attorney ? Does he know how long his sentence might be?

Also, I can't even look at holier than thou Leona anymore . Is there a reason that following all the drama and trauma of the last few episodes she is all dolled up with her hair in yet another glamorous hairstyle looking like Marilyn Monroe after dropping Gael out of the blue like a potato that's hot???

The young actors are great , and Daniel seems to have gotten very close to them, so everyone's tears seemed real . The young actor playing Oliver is amazibg. There is a cute video on YouTube of him playing the guitar while Daniel sings. They seem very close. There is also a video of all the teens dancing on stage with Daniel at one of his concert.

AMOR INVENCIBLE

Adriana, what a lovely swan song for your final recap of this novela. Your comments were exceptional...

Thank you for infusing your wry wit including "Nice to see mutilation didn’t change his core values" which made me laugh out loud.

"Gael is crying, AnaJu is crying, I am probably maybe crying (definitely)"; I'm right there with you. Before this ends, I hope we are able to see Gael in one scene where he is not crying copious tears. He has cried a river and more.

"Josefa says he couldn’t have done more, Ramses would have killed him. (THANK YOU!)" indeed! Someone comes to his defense.

"Leona explains it was a proof of love, he did it after she told him they needed to break up. David is surprised when he finds out they are divorcing, when Leona looks at him he actually smiles, hope reborn all over his stupid face". I felt nauseous. And what was worse than David's eyes lighting up with hope? Leona's barely inperceptible smile as she looked at him knowing the impact her words would have. Why Leona, why??

If Gael's actions don't prove he is galan worthy, I give up. Yes, Leona was proud but watching the children's grief was heartbreaking. Just as his relationship with them turns for the far better, he leaves.

More later.

Diana

INVENCIBLE

Thanks, Adriana, for giving us yet another wonderful recap. I enjoyed your commentary especially.

Invencible

Diana, everything you just wrote ..yes !!!! That look that passed between Leona and David was disturbing . She has no regard for what Gael is doing . I am so done with this show. I no longer want Gael with stone cold lioness Leona. He deserves so much better . Leona and David should be together . They can be perfect people and spend the rest of their lives scolding other people about their faults. I do not want to see any more scenes of Gael groveling at Leona's tiny, spiked heel feet crying his " mia culpas." That slight smile Leona gave David after delivering the divorce news made me feel that she is righteously happy Gael is going to jail and she will never love him or really forgive him . Leona is too damaged to ever recapture her teenage love for Gael. She tricked him and the writers tricked me into thinking that Gael and Leona were soulmates. Only Gael believes that now. Please release him , Leona . Set him free. You stopped loving him 15 years ago and no amount of excellent kisses, or flowers, or Eggos or , or slow dancing, or jailtime will ever be enough to bring back your teenage devotion . Gael is still teen Gael dreaming of love on the beach, while Leona lost teen Mar a long time ago. There was something about the look on her face throughout this whole episode that told me that Gael cannot reach that heart of stone. Leona, Don't stand there smirking next to your hero Dave and let Gael continue to hope for your love. That is just plain cruel.

Speaking of sufferibg, I cannot look at those scenes of Cal. I don't want to watch anyone suffering . What is in those pills that Cal switched with Ram's heart meds .
Oh, and Col dressed as a nun . Sure . The writers are pulling out all the stops and jumping the sharks. Surf's up.

ETERNAMENTE

Urban, interesting idea on why Martina is now moving. I can see her refusing to be denied access to her grandchild and having a plan to take it. Marco was totally disgusting trying to pressure Paula. Maybe his accident, if he survives, will knock some sense into his thick head.

Invencible

Adriana, thanks so much for recapping yet another infuriating episode. I really enjoyed your amazing recap.

"Nice to see mutilation didn’t change his core values" was too funny and true!

I can't believe what the writers are doing to Gael. Jail time? Really? What unnerves me is that Leona keeps saying that he should have stopped Ramsés, when she saw perfectly well what happens when you try to stop these people: her family got murdered when she went to the police. So, how exactly was Gael supposed to stop him, since she has said it herself, Ram has people in the police, so he couldn't go there?

Almost zero screen time of Jacinta with Matías and of Flor in the last episodes. Instead we get everyone hating on Gael and Gael sobbing while Superhero David gets all the action and Leona keeps on being annoying. ¡Ya basta!

I'm SO over this show. 2 more episodes and then adiós.

I can recap the Gran Final on Monday. I just want to make sure this ends soon! Lol!

AMOR INVENCIBLE

"So, The writers said to themselves , " Well, we have emasculated Gael at every turn of this tale which is almost over , but what else could we do to him while he is still recovering from getting shot in the leg and out of commission as far as rescuing his beloved daughter....and still wearing a boot and using crutches ???? Hey.....jail !!! OMG....I. Can't. Even".

Susan, that might be THE definitive statment of whatever puzzling, provacative and (frankly) putrid thoughts were going through the writers heads in terms of Gael's story arc.

I'm very perplexed about Matias' comment that Gael would be home soon. While I'm hoping we are thrown a bone that Gael gets out of jail before dotage sets in, some sort of miracle would have to occur for that to happen.

Diana

AMOR INVENCIBLE

Weirdo, enjoyed your comments especially "So, how exactly was Gael supposed to stop him, since she has said it herself, Ram has people in the police, so he couldn't go there?"

Thank you for offering to do the finale but Rgv Chick had volunteered and in fact is already preparing it! :)

Diana

Invencible

Diana, oops! I didn't see that! I'm pretty sure RGVChick will write an amazing recap on the Gran Final. I guess she must be preparing herself psychologically! Lol!

AMOR INVENCIBLE

Weirdo, yes, Rgv Chick's finale is sure to be sensational!

I'm girding my loins for whatever foolishness awaits. I had a sliver of hope at one point which has pretty much evaporated but it would be wonderful if the script gets flipped at the last moment.

Diana

Invencible

Dear Chickie, you are a brave soul to bring us the finale recap for this rough sea of love and revenge.

I feel rather beaten up by the writers . They seem to have gleefully kept us guessing as to which Prince will finally win the revenge soaked princess as the dragon breathes fire on everyone . I feel like I traded my cow to the writers for a handful of magic beans , and when I climbed the beanstalk all I found was David. He wanted to save me , and I passed on that and asked him for directions to Gael's gazebo of dreams . Then, I washed up on A distant shore , but there was no gauzy curtailed bed in sight , but lots of seaweed and jellyfish. I did not sign up for this revenge fest . " Drowning in the sea of love where everyone wanted to drown" with Stevie. Help.

Eternamente

Loved your notes Jarifa, thank you!

Yep Diana, I don't hate him just not yet impressed. One thing I noticed last night is that Rogelio went from yelling at mom, to extremely nice to mom, to yelling at mom from scene to scene to scene! It always cracks me up with TV shows show two people fighting in one scene and then having a totally normal conversation the next day as if nothing happened.

Everyone moves out! LOL That's one way to squash the drama though I'm not sure it will work. I don't know about Martina trying to steal the baby, She's definitely mean and controlling but I am not sure she's actually wicked/criminal. I see some hesitation in her and I get the impression that she's truly afraid to lose her sons - the dream of Rogelio screaming at her definitely revealed some of that. It might be a red herring but all these moments of indecision and pause of Martina's have me thinking that she might end up on the path of redemption instead of the road to evil crimes.

I hope Marco isn't hurt too bad, I really don't want to see them go the 'character ends up handicapped and finally learns to grow some character' route. There are more ways to grow up and become a decent person than just experiencing a tragedy!

I like Blanca's new friend.

Eternamente

Jarifa, thank you for the great report from your couch .

So, everyone is moving out all at once . okay. That leaves Felipa and Hub to take care Of the mansion and the two remaining single brothers , and I suppose Marco will be in the hospital . I like Marco, young and dumb and now mooning over Blanca.

The poetic brother with the glasses had a really odd fantasy standing next to his sister in law of holding her (their???) baby . This poor guy is obsessed with his brother's wife.

Darcy, I think Martina will be redeemed, but crazy Imelda ...never. What was up with her holding a butter knife and pointing it at Paula while lecturing her about something ? And what a snoppy snoop she is , and she has Fernando jumping through hoops just so she will sleep with him.

ETERNAMENTE

Darcy, I agree that Martina might be redeemable. After some of the beyond toxic mothers we've seen recently, Martina seems like a walk in the park. No nurturing mother she! :)

"As for Martina, she told somebody ? she was tolerating Paula because she was carrying her grandchild. So much for any real affection except as an incubator" made me smile Jarifa. OK so her heart is still the size of the Grinch's!! LOL...

"Fernando complains about being second best? Dude, you aren't even that" was great Urban. So, so true...

Susan, yes, Paula's sweet BIL is smitten. He deserves someone special but he needs to "snap out of it" or it will really be uncomfortable for everyone.

Diana

I re-read past pages, and I saw this:

"Could he [Gael] go to prison since he didn't go to the police immediately after finding out that Ramses was a trafficker?"

Beth S, you got it! That's the best telenovela guessing skills I've seen, alongside Liz's prediction that Clara made Silvano dump Flor!

Invencible
So how did you all like the episode? Enjoyable, wasn't it?What was this supposed to be?I don't get it.All I can think of is that Gael is so affected by that constant refrain of 'you should have' that he sees no other way of paying for staying silent. Ana ju is right about him being able to help in that charity. I mean, what good would it do if he spent many years in prison and didn't get to see his own kids? I'm pretty sure that the vistims' families would want to see Ramses in prison and not Gael. This was such a bizarre twist. My eyebrows kept rising till there was no more space for them to rise any higher.
And Leona with her,'it was proof of love. He did that aftershe told him they needed to break up with him'. So apparently she still thinks it was for her? Woman, you are not the centre of the universe and thank God for that. I hope Gael does find someone who can love him and then Leona and David can both be miserable seeing him being happy because I get the impression they think he only deserves suffering and that there isn't a punishment big enough to satisfy them. I wonder which writer wrote Leona's character. Were we meant to hate her? Because my sympathy for her has run out for sure.
Susan, Just wanted to say your comment made my evening. Maybe all we can do is make fun and be sarcastic because these writers deserve it.
Weirdow, you and I should be friends! I wanted to jump through my phone screen and straight into the telenovela. I'd have told Leona what a selfish and stupid person she has become because I'm sick of playing nice.

Eternamente 22/23

I do not envision redemption for Martina. Let's not forget she tried to trick Paula into signing divorce papers with a forged signature on them. That should have been more than enough for Rogelio to disown her and move out of the country.

Imelda definitely can't be redeemed. I don't know how I feel about her mother.

Luis needs a little makeover, starting wit contact lenses. Paula can find the right woman fir him.

Eternamente
What is up with Marco? 'Convince him to move out otherwise I won't help you anymore? His attitude must be the result of Martina always not taking his mess-ups seriously. What was it that he helped her with? I hope Paula won't give in. He was also displeased that Blanca was leaving. So things should stay the way they are because prince Marco said so? And now he even doesn't want to leave Blanca alone. I just...can't. He really wasn't sorry enough I think.
I believe Martina said something about wanting to make her kids regret not valuing her. She can't give up the control she has and wants everyone to regret making her do so. So she is always a victim.
Poor Luis. The only good thing is that he doesn't seem to be the obssesive type who would act on his feelings. I hope he ends up with Blanca. He is the only one I like.
What is Erika going to do? She talked about it not being easy to forget him as Rogelio is so 'lindo.' So would she do something to ruin their marriage just to get him? Has it occurred to her he doesn't love her anymore?
I wonder if they really are going to make paula's daughter have some kind of condition. dDo they do this often in Mexican telenovelas?
Ididn't fully understand whatwhere they got those singing kids. I thought I heard theyheard that they had some sort of scolarships? One of them has a scolarship from a charity that Martina is involved in?
What is wrong with Imelda? She hates Paula's happiness? Why? Just because she married Rogelio? Imelda doesn't even love him!The girl is just making herself miserable for no reason. A house of her own, a marriage to an Iturbide...All she wanted. Even if she isn't living in the Villa, she still is lucky. In the end it's even better because she can't be so stupid as to think Martina would let her be in charge even if she had married Rogelio. Careful what you wish for.
I kind of wish Rogelio and Erika would end up together because I dislike them both even though I am not sure why.

Thanks, Jarifa, great notes from the couch.

Marco seems to be someone that wants what he can’t have. After being not so nice to Blanca he now seems to be wanting her, or at least wanting her to want him again.

I couldn’t believe Imelda waving her knife at Paula and blaming her for everything. She is eaten up with jealousy and wants to destroy Rogelio’s marriage. I guess she still wants him. I also think she is fueling Fernando’s anger at his brother and Paula. I have to laugh at the fact that Martina brought Imelda into the family and now Imelda is trying to destroy the family. I’m sure
the picture she saw was Ignacio with the dad. She will come across his picture at home and have her fun with that secret.

This show is a nice relief from the murder and mayhem of Invencible!

Liz

Invencible

Thanks, Adriana, that was great. Not much blood and gore!

I feel bad for Jacinta and hope she can be happy with Matias. I hope Lola gets prison time and they don’t let her out just because she wasn’t that involved.

I guess Gael lived with the guilt of not doing anything and this is his way of paying for his lack of action in the past. But I hate it for his kids. And Leona will continue to live in the mansion. Hopefully Gael gets out soon. I’d like him to be with Leona just because he loves her so much. But she does not come across as someone deserving of so much love.

Only 2 episodes left and no true love for Flor and Clara will keep being her narrow minded self. They should have shown less torture to fit the other stories in!

Super job, Jarifa.

I'm thinking that narcissistic battle-axe Martina will find redemption. She seemed heartfelt when she told Fernando that when his kids come, he'll see he loves and wants the best for each one.

I could've sworn I saw Imelda take an olive from the serving bowl, eat it, and put the pit back in the bowl. Eeooh!

Alone with Rogelio after the med exam, Erika gives Rogelio an additional warning about Paula's condition. She should've shared that additional warning with Paula too. I don't think Erika means Paula any physical harm, but Erika is biased plain and simple.

What an entitled a$$ Marco is.

Invencible

Gracias, Adriana. I know this was painful to do. I applaud your ability to craft a searing recap out of Gael's turning himself in.

I never imagined this, but I'll be there tonight to see what's in store. Gael was an abused son suffering from PTSD, but there is a price to pay for living in a luxe glass mansion with servants with your eyes closed for so long. I've asked myself, what could young Gael have done? No easy answer. Maybe talk to his Uncle Apolo and his mom about what happened that horrific night and flee with Apolo to France or to some remote jungle where Ramses wouldn't find him? But then he couldn't have watched over AnaJu. It's crazy that Josefa and Apolo just found out about the trafficking after Leona turned up. Josefa, sorry but you kept your eyes closed too and Gael suffered for it.

ITA the little smiles between Leona and David that they can now be together, at this tragic turn for Gael's kids, was so wrong. I blame the director.

So the stock for the beer company has plummeted, and Josefa, Camila, and Matias need to figure out what to do. I imagine Leona will come to the rescue.

ETERNAMENTE

Susan, I agree there is no hope for Imelda. ". . . and she has Fernando jumping through hoops just so she will sleep with him." Now that she is pregnant he might jumping through hoops for nothing.

Liz good take on Marco "Marco seems to be someone that wants what he can’t have." He is a mess! I am glad that Blanca is being taught how to care for herself which now means avoiding him. Too bad the dolt can't get that through his head. I am also enjoying a more traditional novela.

waterlily, yes, you were right. Martina has a charity foundation that gave some children scholarships to the music school. As for Imelda, my y take is that Imelda saw herself as the next Monarca when Martina died since she would be the wife of the family's first born and would have access to the Iturbide money, villa and also their influence in Morelia and beyond. Being the wife of Fernando doesn't quite check all the boxes in her plan for power.

Niecie, thanks for pointing out the olive incident. I missed it but it would not surprise me because it is all about Imelda being for only Imelda. Yes, Marco is an entitled a$$. I guess it is too early in the novela to have him die. : (

ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS #23/24 Part One

Thanks to everyone for all of your comments, discussions and extra info.

MARCO'S ACCIDENT

The novia calls for an ambulance and an unconscious Marco is brought to then hospital. The whole family comes. Magically, Erika appears and helps them get the initial information on Marco. After they run tests, it turns out that Marco is diagnosed with a crushed spinal cord. He may not walk again but they will not know until he goes through physical therapy which can be done at home.. Marco is angry and collapses into self-pity. Blanca who has watched over him on the sly hiding from Martina at the hospital, tells him it is going to be his choice whether he is a victim or fights back against his circumstances. The novia comes by to tell him she is going to California for a race and will be gone four months. He breaks up with her. Earlier at the hospital, the novia gets a slap from both Martina and Blanca for being who she is and for her attitude. Marco is released and goes home where he want to be alone.

IMELDA THWARTED AGAIN

Right when Imelda is going to show Paula the photo, Paula gets the call about Marco's accident. She has to leave for the hospital and Imelda is left putting the photo away in her handbag.

PAULA'S DECISION

Paula tells Rogelio what Marco said to her about not moving out. Rogelio says it is not her responsibility. Later, Paula tells the family that she thinks it would be better, with Marco's situation, if she and Rogelio did not move out and that the family come together for his benefit. Rogelio goes along with her idea. Fernando agrees not to move either and Imelda is angry. She feels like nobody cares about what she thinks or wants. Her mother thinks she should learn to love her husband because he is crazy about her and a good man.

FIDEL TO THE RESCUE

Fidel renegotiates the deal that Fernando messed up with the Colombians. Later with a mask hiding his identity, he takes video of Ignacio at the illegal delivery of gasoline. Earlier, Fernando told Ignacio he couldn't take care of the delivery for the second time. Later, Imelda tells Rogelio that she thinks that Fernando is doing business with Ignacio. Rogelio calls Fidel to find out where Fernando go his house loan from.

CECILIA CAUGHT

Rogelio hears from Imelda that Cecilia is being funded for her half of the school by Ignacio. Rogelio tells Paula and they go to see Cecilia. Cecilia admits that Ignacio funded her and that it is only temporary and that she will pay him back. Paula is irate that Cecilia LIED to her knowing she did not want Ignacio involved. She used to have the utmost trust in only three people who she was sure would never lie to her. They were Cecilia, aunt Eva and Rogelio. Rogelio makes excuses for Cecilia lying (maybe himself?) but Paula is not buying them. She leaves and Rogelio tries to find out how much money Ignacio gave Cecilia so he can replace it. Cecilia is not sure about that if Paula is not on board.

LUCAS

Lucas is being bullied at school for being from the USA and for not having a father. He stands up for himself resulting in a fight. The principal tells Erika that she will handle the bullying. Erika wants Lucas seen by the chool psychologist because she has a very serious illness. The principal will take care of it.

ETERNAMENTE Page Two

ROGELIO DIGS HIMSELF A DEEPER HOLE

Rogelio goes see Erika because he wants to find out more about his son. That same morning, Paula needs to talk to somebody and cannot find anyone. Thinking of Erika as a friend, she gets her home address and goes to see her. She has a real surprise when she sees Rogelio's car parked outside of Erika's house. She goes in and Rogelio makes up this story about how Erika wanted to talk to him because she will not be able to be Paula's doctor any more because she is ill with cancer. Erika agrees and Paula is all concerned saying that she can count on them to help her or help out with Lucas. Paula tells Rogelio she thought he was having an affair with Erika when she saw his car.

IMPOSSIBLE ANSWERS IN AN ENVELOPE

Felipa and Melitón get the results of their tests from the fertility clinic but cannot understand them. They agree to make an appointment to have the results explained to them.

PSYCHIC MARTINA

Martina has a really bad feeling just when Mario has his accident. Later, she has a nightmare where her mother warns her that "HE" is near and wants to hurt one of her sons. Martina is confused when she wakes up. Which son??

BAD NEWS

Rogelio and Paula meet with Erika in her office (I thought she wasn't going to be Paula's doctor any more . . . oh, well, this is a novela). She has the results from the tests that were run. Their baby has Edward's syndrome which is caused from a chromosonal irregularity which can cause severe heart, kidney and brain birth defects. They have a decision make: continue with the pregnancy or end it.

That is all I got. Feel free to add whatever else you have.

ETERNAMENTE

Jarfia, "Rogelio digs himself a deeper hole" indeed! The recap was fantastic.

Paula's insticts (rightly) kicked in seeing Rogelio's car at Erika's. It's a shame the excuse did sort of make some sense. When Paula finds out (which cannot be too far away), she is really going to feel betrayed. I'm already wondering "can this marriage be saved?" Not to mention her bff certainly hasn't been honest with her. The potential issues with her baby would be enough to push Paula over the edge as it is.

Blanca is a sweet girl but professing her love for Marco out loud in the chapel only to be overheard by Martina does not bode well. Curling up on Marco's hospital bed? A bit too obsessive; I'm worried for her.

Fidel has sort of a Clark Kent/Peewee Herman thing going on. Beyond smart, loyal, seemingly able to do everything and spy on the side...that said, he needs to ditch the nerdy duds.

Perhaps Imelda should just mail Paula the picture?? Hand carrying it around hasn't hasteneed its delivery :)

Diana

Invencible

Recap will be up later today.

Eternamente
Blanca is getting on my nerves with the whole 'I want you in my life' speech. What does Marco, the prince of motorcycles, have that she likes so much? I doubt her treatment at that support group involves having even more contact with the man for whom she nearly took her own life. Please tell me these two aren't supposed to end up together.
At first I thought Marco had pretty decent chances to start walking again, but it must be horrific to go through therapy and then learn it's all for nothing if it doesn't work. Then your only comfort is that 'I've tried', which doesn't feel like much. I have a suspicion he'll walk again.
Blanca blaming that chick was a bit much. Marco was reckless and Blanca must know it. The guy is an adult and can say no to all those 'tricks'. It's a bit odd that later she tells him not to be a victim when earlier she just slapped a girl because she thought she was the cause of the problem.
It's a bit funny to me that they keep randomlyinviting Lucas to their house. And they even took him to see Marco, which in my opinion is a bad idea. I know their intentions are good. At least Lucas is a sensible child because knowing what some kids are like, I wouldn't take them to see a man who has just suffered an accident.
In that dream Martina had, I thought her mum said 'he means you harm' so later I was a bit confused when she said he is close to your son.
Paula is a bit too nice. Imelda acused her of deciding that 'everyone' should stay. I was like did I misunderstand what Paula said? Because I didn't realise Fernando agreed to stay. It's a bit odd to me, given that he most probably won't try to help. He doesn't strike me as the type who would know what to do and would just feel awkward.
Rogelio told Cesilia Paula would leave the partnership. Is he completely sure of this? I mean, I would find it pretty hard to just give up on my dream because I don't like one of the partners. She'd have to start it all over again. If she did that out of loyalty to her husband, she'd later regret it when she learnt Rogelio has been keepingsecrets from her.
I remember seeing a girl on tv who had edwards syndrome. But she could neither talk nor understand much. She wasn't even living at home but staying at some place where stafflooked after her. If I'm not mistaken, when a child has this condition, doctors don't have the duty to save them if they are really unwell. I'm not sure what the reason for this is and I might be thinking of the wrong syndrome.
Imelda's mother gave her some good advice, which Imelda most probably won't take. But I feel sorry for her child. She is way too selfish to care about anyone else. I remember a psychologist saying she now thought saying some people shouldn't have kids is a bit eugenixy because with some help parents can manage it. I remember thinking that this would be true if we lived in a world where parents got the help they needed on time. Besides, it's far more likely that the child will end up needing help and will have to deal with problems later on. So I do think someone like Imelda shouldn't have kids.
Jerrifa, maybe you remember what the girl Lucas met at school told him? She said 'si quieres, me lo sueno' and I didn't realise what she meant. Did she suggest to beat up his bullies?

El Amor Invencible - Capítulo 79 - Viernes, 28 de Julio, 2023

Forgiveness, tears, deaths; Colu got her fingers (and more) burned with Ramsés - Part 1/4

We start with Colu, dressed as a gangster nun, with a gun (with a fancy silencer) out. Leona asks her to think of her baby, Colu says there's no baby and if she can't be happy, neither can Leona. As she goes to shoot her, Leona attacks her and runs. Wow! No helicopter David to save the day? I'm impressed!

Columba, still holding the gun, keeps asking Leona where she is. Yeah, because she'll definitely tell her. She starts taunting her about Benja and says it would be very funny if both mother and son stay blind. Leona, meanwhile, throws a soda can in the opposite direction of where she is. Colu turns and shoots a fire extinguisher. Leona comes behind her and starts hitting her head on a car, saying she can do whatever she wants to her, but can't hurt Benja (too late for that). She grabs Colu's gun and asks her "where's Ramsés?" Colu doesn't answer. Of course, the POLICE have to come and arrest LEONA. She screams that COLUMBA is the real criminal while said criminal runs away and the cops continue the arrest. Ugh!

A cop accompanies Gael to his cell. Gael says he doesn't want any privileges. The cop says "good" and gets him in. Gael's cellmates are definitely not the friendly roomie type. Some Ernesto Jiménez guy (a serial killer who kills wealthy men) introduces himself and says that in prison they don't forgive people like Ramsés nor his accomplices.

Colu goes to where she and Ram are hiding and looks in a mirror. Leona must have broken her nose, because, with a very painful "crack", Colu puts it back on its place. Ouch. She sees a weird figure covered with a sheet on the bed, she pulls the sheet and it's mutilated Calixto, who just stares at her. Colu is obviously shocked, takes a few steps back and falls into Ramsés, who asks her if she missed him. Uh oh.

Gael says he wasn't involved in his father's business. Ernesto (the serial killer cell-roomie) tells him that everyone says that to clear their conscience. He hits him and Gael hits him back. Ernesto comments that that's how he likes them, brave and very stupid and hits him again. All his roomies start hitting him. There's blood all over him. Gael, during the whole scene, looked like he didn't expect the treatment. I mean, you're in jail, Gael, what did you expect? Homemade cake and "Bienvenido" posters?

Ramsés grabs Columba by her neck and asks her again if the baby was David's; she says it was his (Ram's), but she lost it because of him. Ram says it's better that way, she's an idiot. He decides to hit her where it hurts: Leona. He tells her Leona is much better than her; she made them run away from justice, now has the company and both Gael and David chose her (Leona) over her (Colu).

Colu says that "that fish merchant" (esa pescadera) still needs to cry a lot of tears and Ram says that she (Colu) also needs to; he first asks her if she send Josefa that message to find them together. Colu admits it, she says she did it for Josefa to see that she's a better lover and his real wife. Ram then asks her if it was her who told AnaJu her dad is Gael. Colu admits it again and adds that she enjoyed "it" with David much more than with him and can understand why Josefa left him for his brother Apolo! She gets a slap for that. Is Colu that stupid or is she pretending to be? Why on earth did she say these things to Ramsés, can't she see he'll kill her? I guess Leona must have hit Colu's head too hard on the car or something.

El Amor Invencible - Capítulo 79 - Viernes, 28 de Julio, 2023

Forgiveness, tears, deaths; Colu got her fingers (and more) burned with Ramsés - Part 2/4

On to a MUCH lighter scene. Josefa, Camila and Matías talk about making a foundation for victims of trafficking and that Leona is going to help them. Matías says that for years, the head of the family was Ramsés; Cami adds that now all of them are. Josefa tells them they have to be brave like Gael.

Ram tells Colu she's just a piece of meat and he is and will always be her master. He gets a knife out and tells her to beg him to forgive her and spare her life. She, proving that she has no dignity, gets on her knees and begs him, talking to him using the formal "usted" and calling him owner of her destiny. She looks sideways at Calixto, who looks like his isn't having a great day.

Warning: annoying Leona-David scene incoming.

We see Benja asleep on the hospital bed. Leona (who is magically free and not in a police station) is at hospital with David outside of Benja's room. Apparently, she thinks it's appropriate to talk about her love life and how she loves both David and Gael but in different ways while she's outside her semi-blind son's room, who had the accident like, yesterday. David holds her hand and asks her with which one of them does she see a future? She pulls her hand away and says that she needs time and she won't rest until Ramsés pays, while David says he can wait as long as it takes and looks at her like she's some sort of goddess.

Colu continues her pathetic begging by getting up and saying she's much more useful to him alive than dead and they can flee together. Cali says Ram will betray her, Colu shushes him and looks at Ram, hopeful. He gives her the knife and tells her to kill Calixto. Colu looks like she'll do it, Cal keeps saying "por favor" and Ram tells him not to steal oxygen LOL. Colu does kill him. Thankfully, they don't show us this, just Ram's smirking face.

Lola is in jail and thinks back to her with Cal. She begs God to forgive her, she knows she did wrong things and she's truly sorry. She cries.

Colu, who has no foreign blood on her, even though she stabbed Cal to death, thanks Ram for saving her and says she'll go take a bath so they can leave. Ram is full of smirks. I'm pretty sure Colu will be dead before the Gran Final on Monday.

It's the next day.

In Jacinta's house, there's a huge fiesta for Benja, who's returning home. All three families (Jacinta's, Leona's, Consuelo's) are here. Benja thanks them and says he still remembers that moment that changed his life, he feels like he lost a part of him. David tells him to cry if he wants to and everyone is really supportive. Even Clara is less annoying than usual. The fiesta continues, with delicious-looking food. Oh and with sponsors.

Leona (after the fiesta) goes to see Gael in jail. His face is all beaten up, Leona seems worried. She asks him who did this to him.

Colu wakes up, but not in her bed. She's tied to a tan machine. Ram tells her that he remembered her saying she wanted a tan, so her took an initiative and changed the machine a bit. He closes the lid and presses a button. Colu screams that it's too hot in here, she feels like she's burning! Ram, after a bit, clicks on the button and the machine stops. We see Colu's body, she's badly burned, her skin is red. He says he'll give her one last wish; what does she want? Colu says she wants to see her kids for the last time, surprising both us and Ramsés.

Gael says he'll complete his jail time and that his beating was nothing to what he caused her. Leona looks sincerely sad, she puts her hand on the glass and Gael does the same.

El Amor Invencible - Capítulo 79 - Viernes, 28 de Julio, 2023

Forgiveness, tears, deaths; Colu got her fingers (and more) burned with Ramsés - Part 3/4

Ramsés calls Josefa; Josefa sees an "unknown number" calls her and picks it up. Ram tells her about Colu's last wish. Josefa tells him not to kill her, but to let her stay in jail. Ram says he made his choice and Josefa tells Kika and Óliver that their mom wants to talk to them. Kika doesn't want to but Óliver does.

Columba tells him she'll go on a long trip, but she wants him to know she loves him very much and asks him to forgive her while crying. Óliver says he forgives her. Colu asks to speak to Kika too. Kika still doesn't want to, so Óliver puts her on speaker and says they all hear her ("all" being Josefa, AnaJu, Cami, Danilo and Colu's kids). Colu pretty much repeats what she said and Kika forgives her too. Both her kids tell her not to leave, they don't want to stay without a mom. Colu cries as Ram hangs up. Óliver screams "mamá" and starts crying. The rest comfort them. (Great acting by everyone in this scene, but Marlene Favela and Sebastián Guevara (Óliver) slayed it.)

Leona says she needs to see how the father of her kids is and next time she hopes their kids come to see him with her. Gael tells Leona he loves her. She shows him a picture of AnaJu, Kika, Benja and Óliver all together. A jail cop says that visit time is over, which officially makes this the shortest jail visit ever. Both Leona and Gael ignore him. Gael tells her that she should continue her life with David, as much as it hurts him to say it (ugh). He doesn't know for how long he'll stay here and she deserves to be happy. Leona looks sincerely moved. Gael tells her to tell his kids he loves them. Leona has to leave, because that annoying cop looks like he's willing to drag her out, but leaves him the photograph after the cop says she can do that. They wave to each other and cry.

Columba keeps on crying, screaming and burning. Ram make the machine heat up even more and tells her to get used to hell. At last, she dies. Ram asks her to say hello to the devil from him. He leaves as we see Columba's still body, severely burned.

Leona tells AnaJu and Benja that their father isn't well. The conversation somehow shifts to... Food? "Hey guys, your dad is worse than ever in jail, let's go make delicious food now!" Well, they actually make delicious food... Consuleo's family, Kika and Óliver are also invited. Óliver says he misses his parents. Again, somehow, food again. Okay... Oh and Benja hurts his eye, Leona says she'll find him a skin transplant (or whatever you call that) so he can see the sea.

And here's where they made a Spanish error: "mar" (sea) can be both masculine and feminine. Most people call it "el mar" (masculine), like Leona did now, BUT people who have a special connection to the sea or live close to it (and poets in their poems) call it "la mar" (feminine). So, Leona should have said LA mar, not EL mar. Unimportant, but still... I just wanted to point that out.

In the beer company, Leona, Cami, Josefa and Matías talk to the employees. They say that the financial situation is tough, but they'll protect them. Leona speaks as the general manager and she announces three new changes: Josefa is going to be responsible for the HR, Camila for the reconstruction of public relations and Matías is going to be head of image and publicity. Everyone claps.

El Amor Invencible - Capítulo 79 - Viernes, 28 de Julio, 2023

Forgiveness, tears, deaths; Colu got her fingers (and more) burned with Ramsés - Part 4/4

David visits Gael in jail. Gael says his hate for him is justified (really now?) and that he'd hate him (Gael) too if he were David. David claims he doesn't hate him. Gael thanks him for being a great father to Benjamín and asks him to protect Leona with his life. He loves her but David should take care of her and protect her. David says he loves her too (bruh), but she wants time to decide who she wants to be with. Oh, he also mentions that Benja will visit him. Gael says Leona deserves to be happy and she'll be happy with David. He extends his arm for a handshake. David shakes it, looking at him with an odd expression on his face. I guess that's because if he were in Gael's place, he woulN'T tell Gael to be with Leona.

Leona shows Cami her office. Cami apologizes to Leona for being mean towards her and they become friends. Cami changes from "I will fight for David" to "You should be with David, he loves you" overnight I guess, because that's exactly what she tells Leona. Remember this dude Marco who we have seen/heard of like, 2 times? It looks like he'll end up with Cami. What a disappointment.

Benja enters the room where David and Gael are. Gael turns and sees him as David awkwardly leaves.

Benja talks to him with the formal "usted". Gael tells him to at least call him Gael if he doesn't want to call him dad. He says he's sorry for everything. He's grateful to David for being a father to him (Benja). Benja starts listing, again, what David did for him. Gael says he wants to help him so Leona and David stay together, what?

We get close-ups of their eyes, which are full of tears, as Gael says that the thing he wants the most is Benja to be able to tell everyone he's his dad. After all this he wants to play American football with him, talk with him, listen to him... Be his dad. He asks him to forgive him for not being there. He adds he wanted to and had to be like him, brave, when he was young. They both scratch their ears at the same time again. Benja says he needs him as well and forgives him. He calls him dad, too. They hug.

And with Gael and Benja's hug, we have the Fin del Capítulo.

Invencible

And that's my last recap for Invencible.

I wanted to say thank you to Diana, Adriana (and RGVChick) for being my co-recappers. I loved your recaps and your clever comments. I hope we can collaborate again soon!

Thanks to all the commenters as well! I wouldn't have finished this show if it wasn't for the patio.

More later. :)

Eternamente 24/25

Gracias, Jarifa.

The longer Rogelio hesitates the worse it will be when Paula Pollyanna learns the truth. How many episodes will they be apart? I predict 10-15.

Fernando moved back in to kiss up to Martina. Imelda is just as selfish and entitled as both of them which spells disaster in the long term.

Imelda hates that Paula is the logical next matriarch because she is married to Rogelio, the oldest son. He's also better-looking, more confident than Fernando, and much smarter. If Imelda is frigid it wouldn't matter how good in bed he would be.

The photo in Irma's house is a definite clue Imelda will not ignore. How will she use the inevitable reveal that Ignacio is the half-brother of Fernando et al? Will she become Ignacio's accomplice or will she rat him out?

The actress playing Jennifer reminds me of the young Ana Layevska.

The children Paula was conducting need to learn German to sing that piece.

ETERNAMENTE

Diana, thanks. : ) ITA that Blanca is still in a bad place with her feelings for Marco but it all takes time. The only good sign was her telling him that his attitude of self defeat was useless. As for Paula using total honesty to measure people’s dedication to her, she is going to come up empty with that trio. She really is on her own. I can see that “can this marriage be saved?”will be the question very soon. With the news about the baby, Rogelio just found another (albeit maybe legit in this instance) excuse to kick the can down the road. I cannot believe we just finished up #24!

waterlily, you are right. The threat was to Martina herself at the hand of one of her sons’ friends. As for the little girl, she told Lucas that soon she would have him talking just like they do. She said if he wanted, she would beat them up: in her slang vs. los pego. “Paula is a bit too nice.” You can say that again but with what is on her horizon, maybe that will change.

ETERNAMENTE

Urban, loved the “Paula Pollyanna.” A 10-25 episode separation sounds realistic to me. I agree that Imelda is not going to just stand by knowing what she does. She will be on the move.

INVENCIBLE

Thanks, Weirdo, for another excellent recap of yet another disturbing episode. I could not believe that Columba ended up grilled. Glad I didn’t watch! ; ) I do not know how they can top that anvil or Calixto’s for Ramsés’ very own anvil. It better be good.

AMOR INVENCIBLE

Weirdo, your finale was exceptional; your wry humor “No helicopter David to save the day?” was inspired!

Your explanation of "la mar" was so interesting!

I’ve cringed and grimaced at so much that has transpired the past few weeks (months). But last night, my emotions were in turmoil when Leona visited Gael in jail. Seeing his bruised and battered face and the tender way he spoke to Leona had me in tears. Leona did look incredibly sad and I wasn’t sure whether to wince or smile when she asked him to be “amigos”, their putting their hands together through the glass did me in. There was no doubt in my mind that these two are soul mates. For better or worse.

The dual ear tugging gesture between Gael and Benja was so sweet. I was so happy Benja could not help but forgive Gael and when he called him “dad” my heart leapt a bit.

On the other hand, David and Gael’s scene rankled. “David shakes it, looking at him with an odd expression on his face. I guess that's because if he were in Gael's place, he wouldn’t tell Gael to be with Leona” was exactly right. The angry look David shot Gael at the end was trademark David, jealous and resentful.

“Apparently, she thinks it's appropriate to talk about her love life and how she loves both David and Gael but in different ways while she's outside her semi-blind son's room, who had the accident like, yesterday” was perfect.

The ensemble acting hit a new high last night. There is one who may be a bit of a weak link which is why I will stamp my feet like a child if he walks away the happiest man on earth.

I had accepted defeat but for some reason, last night gave me some hope for Gael and Leona. So go ahead and dash my dreams Juan Osorio. Again.

Thanks, Jarifa, that was a great recap. I almost felt sorry for the blond girlfriend. She actually was the one to call the ambulance and go to the hospital and she gets blamed and slapped by two different people! Her 4 month trip is not surprising!

Rogelio and Erika had the perfect opportunity to tell Paula the truth and Rogelio lies. We all know it will be Imelda that delivers the news. Does Imelda somehow feel that if Paula leaves Rogelio will turn to her!

I think when Imelda figures out who Ignacio is she will go to him. I don’t know if she’ll blackmail him or what, but she’ll use it to her advantage. Although she did tell Rogelio about Cecilia and Fernando so I could be wrong. I do wonder why Fernando loves her, she has sure made his life miserable.

Lucas is a real sweetheart. But it’s strange how most of “the family” are so loving towards him and he just feels like part of the family. Wait till he learns he is!

I wonder why they gave the baby such a devastating disease. They could have given it something that could be fixed at birth. And I wonder what Paula and Rogelio will decide to do. I hope Martina doesn’t blame Paula.

Thanks, Weirdo, for this great recap and all your previous ones

I hope we saw the end of the really psycho killings. Hard to watch. Although I did enjoy Leona banging Columba’s face into the car. I was impressed with her getting away awhile at gunpoint and ending up with the gun. I bet Columba wished she had turned herself in when the cops came.

It looks like there still might be hope for Gael with Leona. And, yes, it seems Marco might be Cami’s future!

A lot needs to be tied up Monday!

Admittedly, in order for me to really follow any telenovela, I really have to watch every scene.

"Lucas is a real sweetheart. But it’s strange how most of “the family” are so loving towards him and he just feels like part of the family. Wait till he learns he is!" Huh? Liz, thank you - I had absolutely no idea!! Apologies to anyone who mentioned this as my memory is mostly junk and I am (and will be) so wrapped up in Amor Invencible, there's just too much for me to process.

I'm not crying ...you're crying . uff

Weirdo, thank you for this excellent account of all the crying , dying, lying and for all the time you devoted to all the other recaps you provided . Loved the info about "el mar" and "la mar." The writers have been clever in their many callbacks to "mar" , including the name Mar. I love the sea and the shore.

I have a lot of thoughts about this episode , but I will have to let them simmer and come back in a bit. Real life calls.

Eternamente

Jarifa, thanks for the treat. I liked the way you covered the slaps:

"Earlier at the hospital, the novia gets a slap from both Martina and Blanca for being who she is and for her attitude."

This didn't endear Blanca to me. She fell in into the same old trap of always blaming the woman. The blonde novia had done the right thing trying to get Marco to act right. Cold of her to take off for four months without even promising to visit, but they were f*** buddies, no more.

Ironic that Fidel's mask let Viewerville see his gorgeous eyes without those glasses.

Rogelio versus Fernando -- If I heard it right, Rogelio didn't want to upset Martina by letting her know about Marco's accident, but Fernando had already alerted her. The brothers started to argue, but the family calmed them down. This was realistic.

I'm with Imelda's mother. I do see some humanity in Fernando, dumb and hot-headed as he is.

So sad about Paula's baby - and even worse when she learns about Rogelio's deception. As someone said earlier (sorry I forgot who!), Rogelio is facing things he never imagined. But he's got to rise up and handle this to put Paula in a good place.

Invencible
Weirdow, I loved your comments.
I remember watching this while being away and thinking they either cut a scene from the recording I was watching or something because Leona being arested and then being at the hospital in the next scene was odd. I somehow also thought Oliver and Kika would have more questions about where their mother had gone. She just said she was going away whle sounding devastated and scared and they were satisfied? Why add extra episodes if you are going to leave some weird gaps?
I'm still baffled there were women who liked David after watching the whole thing. I think I'll go and read some comments just to annoy myself even further. But it's baffling how they don't find him as irritating as we do. He saves Leona but he is also so jealous, self-righteous and judgemental that his good qualities don't outweigh the bad ones.
At least they made Leona shot Calixto in his privates, which was a nice contrast from the usual 'I'm so innocent' thing these female leads always have.
But why did they have David say all those lovely and reasonable things to Camila if they had no intention of doing anything with this? I'm starting to think someone wanted him to be with Cami and then some crazy person, who was clearly drunk on mezcal, said no.
At least Leona now sees Gael does suffer for...not overcoming psychological abuse and being willing to die. But I doubt she cares about him enough, regardless of all his sacrifices. She seems to think the entire world has to and is willing to help her without her having to repay the kindness or care about others. I haven't forgotten that scene with her and Consuelo at the hospital. These short scenes somehow are the ones that make her so insufferable.

Invencible

Well, my thoughts about this episode have been percolating while I did some chores .
I don't know where to start . I rewatched the episode on the bigger tv screen ...and fast forward through the torture scenes . uff

So, the writers said, " Okay, Gael has been dropped like the proverbial hot potato by Glamor Barbie and is now in jail minus his boot and crutches (?) But still limping in his low profile stone washed denim jacket. ...hmmmmm.... what do we do to him next? Okay ...let's put him in a cell with several big guys and let them beat the romance right out of him . " Some of those big guys were whistling as Gael walked into that Hornets nest, so he is lucky, I guess, that they just punched and kicked him . Gael and I are both grateful that the writers didn't go ....there .

That scene of seeing Gael from behind walking toward Leona . Sometimes just the way someone walks tells you something . Then, as Leona and we see that handsome face battered and bruised ...oh my . As Gael talks to Leona,I kept thinking that his scenes in these last two episodes should be in Daniel's next Demo Reel . Wow . The voice . The expression on his beaten face . Defeated . He seems to have thrown in the towel With his Mar. ( or whatever he used to mop up his blood besides his denim jacket). He is taking himself out of the running for the grand prize....exclusive rights to the sea and Leona. Maybe the writers are actually helping Gael complete his hero's journey by sending him to Hades . Will they let him escape this abyss and have a good future ...maybe with Leona ? They have shown the flashback of that first teen kiss on the beach so many times, but I can't remember if it was ever in Leona 's mind. I dont think so. I think all those flashbacks were in Gael's mind. Both he and David cling to their image of Mar , and neither seems to accept the fact that Mar is long , gone and never coming back
.
What really bothered me about this episode was the joyful , food filled welcome home party for Ben and the happy fish fry while Gael was bleeding and bruised in a jail cell with 5 or 6 very angry men milling around him Lying on the floor.

Are Martias , Marco, and the lawyers trying to get Gael released ?

Invencible

Great comments as always. I'm never disappointed by the patio, but by the telenovela itself though, definitely!

Jarifa, I agree, I don't know what they'll do to Ramsés. At this point, everything is possible.

Diana, "The angry look David shot Gael at the end was trademark David, jealous and resentful" was spot on. After everything Gael's done, David still hates him. He just claims not to.

Liz, I think we'll have to see another psycho killing; Ramsés's. It better be nice! And I agree, lots of things need to be tied up on Monday.

Susan, ITA with "What really bothered me about this episode was the joyful , food filled welcome home party for Ben and the happy fish fry while Gael was bleeding and bruised in a jail cell with 5 or 6 very angry men milling around him Lying on the floor." I mean, you have a party the same day Gael is suffering in prison to "clear his conscience" because of his psycho father? It was definitely irritating.

Waterlily, I agree with all your excellent comments as usual. I think you've taken "you're thinking what I'm thinking" to the next level, especially with your comment on Colu's kids. Great minds think alike :) And yes, Leona is definitely insoportable.

I have LOTS of things to say about this episode. I'll write them into a separate comment because this one is already slightly long.

Invencible

Where to start... So many irritating things and some OOC things IMO.

The writers have serious beef with Gael. So know they make him go to jail and get beaten up, to have all the mental-psychological-physical abuse combo. I'm disappointed. If they didn't want Leona to end up with Gael, why make him so likable? They could have made them his father's accomplice or something. This is way worse.

Colu's death was pretty creepy and not what I expected. And her asking to hear her kids was very OOC. Colu hates them.

Speaking of OOC, Camila. She got over the break up and is a fan of Leona-David overnight? Really? And we're also supposed to like her ending up with someone who we've only seen once or twice?

Leona is becoming less and less likable. David is still as annoying as always.

The nice family scenes were so random. They were in desperate need of fillers and added this, which didn't make any sense at the time.

Lola makes no sense. She magically realised her "Cali" wasn't good and she magically repented overnight? Is she related to Camila by any chance?

Ugh. I wonder what the Gran Final will be like. We can actively hate on it on Tuesday. I'm so happy this is ending.

They should announce a second season as a Halloween trick on "trick or treat". Thanks... I'll give you a mega pack of candy instead.

Invencible

Well, I am playing a game where I have to complete a chore to earn a few minutes to come to the patio.

Random thoughts :

Col's last cruel act at the end of a lifetime of cruelty was calling her kids to ask them to forgive her while she moaned and groaned in agony as Ram roasted her like a sandwich in a panini press. Lovely last memory to leave them with. Ugh

Speaking of Col, that scene of Leona weighing maybe 100 pounds soaking wet and six inches shorter than Col easily turning the tables on Queen of the Amazons , Zena , Warrior Princess and smashing her face a couple times into the rear car window breaking her nose. Beanie time again . Good Girl power. We have seen Col pulling Gael around by his jacket , wrestling with him in bed before he snapped out of his fantasy of her being Leona , and multiple wrestling matches with Ram ,and that one epic wrestling match with drugged Dave. So...sure...Supergirl is able to get the better of armed and dangerous ( and jealous and crazy and evil ) Col. No problemo.Suspended my disbelief agaih.

Thank you Jarifa for another truly fantastic recap!! I'm a little late to the party, just now getting a chance to watch actually but I read the recap first.

Martina had no business slapping Jennifer (that's the girlfriend's name, I think) but Blanca should have slapped her twice!!! And not because it's was her fault, Marcos was responsible for his own choices. But because when Jennifer and Blanca were talking in the hospital Jennifer was completely rude and dismissive of Blanca, she basically told her she should forget about Marco and worry about keeping herself alive, grabbing her arm and saying something like this injured arm shows just how fragile your life is...and then Blanca said but this arm isn't fragile at all and slapped the girl!!! I'm anti-violence and I've never hit anyone in my life but that chick was asking for it and I actually think it's a good sign that Blanca fought back instead of running off crying. Maybe Blanca shouldn't have confronted Jennifer in the first place, but Jen was just plain cruel to Blanca when she did....the surprising thing to me is that Jennifer didn't slap back.

Invincible

Weirdo, thanks for all your recaps. Your sense of humor and detail are outstanding! I'd forgotten my post about Gael going to jail possibly, thanks for mentioning it.
Has there ever been a protagonista so disliked by viewers? Not the actress ( I can think of a few I never care to see), but the character. She could have been a much more likeable person and still out for vengeance.
The sadism, the torture is beyond the pale. What is going on with the producer and Televisa?? It's too much.
Speaking of torture, burning is a painful, horrible to die, yet no screams from Columba after her phone call to the kids?
Ridiculous. She had a chance to escape when she was on her knees in front of Ramses - a quick headbutt in his "privates" would have brought him down in a jif. You can bet Leona would do that!
Overall, the show was okay, but it's not on my rewatch list. I did enjoy Leticia as Josepha -she brought a bit of class and dignity, same with Juan Soler. I saw him in La Otra, and have been a fan since.
I hope this novel isn't a harbinger of darker, less sympathetic leads, etc. in shows to come.
Thank you to all the recappers and commenters, too

Gracias, Weirdo. Super recap. That was an awful night of TV watching, but your choice detail and wit made for an entertaining recap. Too funny: "gangster nun, with a gun"

I looked away a lot during this epi. Tough seeing Gael go through all of that. I feel like no one was there for him. All the Torrenegros felt so bad, so sad, blah blah blah, but do Josefa, Camila, and Matias get that Gael was taking this hit as a stand for the whole family? Will we get a scene where Josefa visits and asks for forgiveness for not noticing Rameses was a cruel, sadistic father that led to this point?

Gael should take some comfort in David still being so jealous of him. If Leona's love for him [Gael] was dead, David wouldn't be like that.

I'm glad Columba got a chance to say bye to the kids, for their sakes.

Interesting outcome where Leona is with David but serves as a mother to Oliver and Kika. I guess we'll see.

I never imagined a TN named Invincible Love would have more tortures than a narco TN.

ETERNAMENTE

Liz, you asked a question I have been wondering about myself: "Does Imelda somehow feel that if Paula leaves Rogelio will turn to her!" It does make you wonder as she also has given him info on the side about all sort of problematical situations involving Ignacio and Cecilia/Ignacio and Fernando. She really is a wild card!

Niecie, glad you enjoyed my "slappy" descriptions. LOL I also agree with Imelda's mom. Nobody married Imelda off. She could do far worse than Fernando, who does love her, in her search for money and power. "But he's (Rogelio has) got to rise up and handle this to put Paula in a good place." is so true. Looks like his character is going to be "forged in fire" due to his own choices. H has a loooong road ahead of him.

Darcy, ITA that the novia got what she deserved. I was happy that Blanca finally stood up for herself. The novia had no right to grab Blanca's arm. She tried to physically intimidate her. " . . . the surprising thing to me is that Jennifer didn't slap back." Me, too. Chalk one up for Blanca.

Invencible

I just woke up, time yo respond to more comments!

Beth, thanks! I agree with all your post. Leona is being too annoying for a protagonist and yes, the torture is a bit too much for 9PM. I usually don't have problems with some violence, but this is too much.

Speaking of torture, Niecie, "I never imagined a TN named Invincible Love would have more tortures than a narco TN." IKR? Too much, especially in the last episodes.

Also, "do Josefa, Camila, and Matias get that Gael was taking this hit as a stand for the whole family?" I don't think so. Gael is a misunderstood character. And so hated by the writers! When he does something wrong, he gets hate and when he does something right, they brush it off, no big deal, let's go make food now! Like, WTF!

Idea: since there's no show until Monday, why don't we write the ending we want and the ending we think will happen?

Invencible - Ending

NO SPOILERS, just my thoughts.

The ending I want: As I have written, I don't really think any ending will be satisfying, but I'll try to write the most satisfying I can with how the things turned out to be.

Leona should decide to give a second chance to David, BUT she should somehow learn of his alliance with Colu and drop him. After Gael's sentence, she should end up with him, because she understood he couldn't do a lot of things to stop his father and he already paid the price in jail.

Camila should realise she hasn't gotten over David and end up with him, whatever.

Lola should stay in jail, because she has to learn that sometimes it IS too late to say sorry. That would be another PSA to add in their PSA collection.

Ramsés should get the opposite anvil of Columba's: a slow death of hypothermia (and please, no more excessive violence).

Consuelo, her family and the kids: they're already ok. Oh and someone get a psychologist for Kika and Óliver. They need support.

Flor and Silvano should have friendly relationships.

Clara should honestly get kicked out of her house. But there's no way that'll happen so...

Jacinta and Matías should stay together. They're the only couple I enjoy (and Josefa with Apolo, but Apolo is dead now).

Did I forget anyone?

What I think will happen:

Leona and David will stay together.

Cami will probs end up with this Marco dude.

Lola will get out and be forgiven by everyone, even though she was an annoying perra for 79 episodes.

I don't know what they'll do to Ramsés, but I think it'll be violent. Because, you know, there wasn't enough violence in this show and they wanted to make sure it's isn't too soft.

Consuelo's family, the kids, Flor, Jacinta-Matías: the same things I want.

Clara: see Lola.

Invencible

Weirdo, thank you for recapping what proved to be another nightmare of an episode.

I'm afraid to make any predictions, because things have gotten so dark, but here goes.
Could Ramses be killed by Gael in a last minute confrontation? Or will Hero David come to Leona's rescue one last time and be the one to end the bastard's life?
Or, since this novela appears to have been so popular in Mexico, could they leave it open-ended, have Ramses run at the last minute, Leona stays with one of the guys, but there is a glimpse of regret on her face while the screen fades to black?

I mean, I'd love nothing more than for David to disappear, but seeing a new and improved Gael after he's out of jail and how he starts to build a life now that his father is out of the picture, is a story I would watch. Him and Leona parenting could open her eyes in ways that aren't possible now because they are all still in the middle of all this drama.
And Gael having a new love interest with Leona watching is definitely something I would be looking forward to.

Oh, well, I guess we're going to find out soon enough.

Recapping this novela has been a delight, even if the story has started to become very frustrating and hard to accept. But, as always, the Patio makes it all worth it, I guess that's why we always end up coming for more.

Invencible

Weirdo , I enjoyed reading your thoughts . I am trying to form my own. I have been watching telenovelas for years , and the only one that bothered me more than this show is " Amor Eterna" , which I couldn't even keep watching but finally watched until the end about a year later. I shouldn't have.

When this show was first announced here at caray, I knew that I wanted to watch it because I liked many people in the cast and the synopsis was interesting .As I started to watch and being familiar with both actors Danilo and Daniel, I assumed that Danilo was the galan because I had seen him mostly in galan roles and that Daniel was the bad guy who abandoned his teenage novia and had a father who was a monster . I bad just seen him as the evil, deranged villain Pedro in Herencia. As the story unfolded I wondered which love was the invencible love referred to in the title, the first love teen soulmate or the constant rescuer . Then, as the story unfolded , I noticed that the writers were giving each of these two actors the chance to be the galan .At first , and logically, David , who had rescued Mar and her son and was a loyal son and brother and uncle , seemed to naturally be the guy we assumed to be the galan. In real life, he would have been the one I wanted. Gael, on the other hand , was a womanizer married to a scary harpy living in luxury . Then , we gradually started seeing more positive qualities in Gael as soon as Leona stepped into his life. We keep seeing the look on his face at that very moment in the introduction each night . It is a look of love that seems to be a call of recognition from the past.Just one look ; that's all it took. We saw his attitude change as soon as Leona came into his life.

I wonder what the original plan was for this tale. Which actor did the writers intend to be the galan ,Leona's soulmate, the other half of the invencible love ? Was this always the way the writers intended the story to play out, or did something change when Danilo and Daniel started bringing David and Gael to life ? Did Daniel somehow change the intended character of Gael by the way he delivered his lines , his facial expressions, his body language ? If you watch him in his roles as galan, he played the role of Gael exactly the way he portrayed galans in the past. What would have happened if these two actors had exchanged roles ? Would we prefer David ?

I started seeing Gael as the galan because even though David kept rescuing Leona and her loved ones at every turn , they started showing Gael's galan like moves, words, actions. The music they played in the scenes between Gael and Leona were love themes .

I feel tricked and manipulated by the writers . I used to think I wanted a HEA for Leona and Gael with their twins , but now I do not like Leona . My mother used to say " That which does not kill you makes you strong ", but for Leona her trauma as a teen has made her bitter and vengeful . I don't think she can ever really forgive or love Gael. Gael loves Mar , but Mar died that awful night .

I watch telenovelas because in the end the evil get anvils and the good get HEAs . I don't see how the writers will end this on a positive note. There has been so much damage from Leona's revenge plans . Who is going to have happiness ?

Invencible

I have become increasingly disappointed with this novela, which is a shame, as the cast is excellent and story compelling. But it seems to have lost its way somewhere in the middle. I always felt Gael was a redeemable galán in hiding. This may be because of the overwhelming skill and charm of Elbittar, but I also thought Danilo never really had a chance to win me over due to clumsy writing.

Leona was likable enough early on and then became vindictive and hard and never softened up. Someone has suggested she was irreparably damaged from her trauma, a valid point. Yet, her singular (and self-centered) focus on her kids appears to have closed off any genuine empathy and sympathy toward others also traumatized by Ramses. This was a turn-off for me.

I thought it unfair to Gael to have expected him to have fixed this, although perhaps reaching out to Apolo might have helped, but Gael was emotionally abused into helpless submission by his father. Recently, he certainly has shown compelling remorse and courage. His character has improved; Leona’s character seems to have deteriorated.

Too bad we didn’t get more Apolo! I felt his character was underdeveloped, and Soler is a magician! What a waste!

There were many valid PSA’s. I liked the Silvana/o story, especially the explanation for the daughter using the doll. I think it was probably educational for many viewers. The informational videos that Consuelo did were also good info as well as modeling with her husband how to teach kids about sex. The trafficking storyline was very powerful. However, some of the scenes were excruciating to watch. I know trafficking is harrowing, but there’s a difference between a story with some crime it and an excessively violent crime story. This novela veered very far from entertainment for me.

There are many telenovelas and dizi that I revisit from time to time. Sadly, with some of the more recent Univision offerings, it has been all I could do to stick with the novela to the end. Scenes of children being emotionally tortured (Mi fortuna and Mi camino come to mind, as well as this one) and gruesome anvils leaving nothing to the imagination make me vow never to rewatch them.

As I mentioned, I often revisit stories, even those with some serious anvils like Destilando amor, because the anvils don’t come to mind when I see the title. Recently, Si nos dejan, was great without bloody, gruesome anvils: a classy novela! I also liked Amar a muerte, and have rewatched it several times. When I see the title, I think of the final scene with the cempazuchitl path and feel hopeful that the characters have found peace. It gives me peace, too. I like to feel good at the end of a novela.

In short, I am so glad this is almost over and will never watch it again. What a shame as the actors are very talented. I don’t even want to make a prediction of how it will end, because nothing can redeem this story for me. All I am feeling is immense relief that it’s nearly over.

The recaps and discussion did make watching this novela bearable. Many thanks to all of you for helping us keep up with the twists and turns of the plot!

Leona/Marena defeated mis Columbia as a Power ranger.
I like Leona, she's only human after all (I am not objective because I really like A. Boyer), but I don't like what writers did with the whole storyline after Apolo's death, especially with Leona's character. Their original plan was probably much better than this " Give the viewers what they want by Osorio".
For me last 10 episodes were "How to ruin excellent novela in just a 10 episodes 101".

G.G. Cantu and Marlene Favela will be Televisa winners as the best villains.
Sorry for my bad English.
Big thanks to all recappers.

Imelda thinks she is all that and a bag of chips so I have no doubt that she thinks if she can get Paula out of the way she can swoop in on Rogelio. Beatriz would be the one person who would tell her this is ridiculous and she would have even a worse time with Martina.

I don't even want to know what she would do to Lucas.

AMOR INVENCIBLE

Weirdo, thank you so much for your thought provoking questions. It has engendered such interesting discussion.

Astute, thoughtful possibilities have been raised by you, Adriana and Susan. Babachita and Anon, the same to both of you (and welcome).

What I think will happen: The chemistry between Gael and Leona was so combustible in their jail scene, I think either they will end up together or she will be by herself with her children. I now feel David and Leona will not be together. Something will happen where Leona will once again to lose faith in David. I have nothing to back it up but a gut feeling.

And Anon, I agree. I think Cantu and Favela will win awards for their performances. I'll add Boyer to that as well.

As improbable as it may be, I would love to see Leona and Gael together, with all their children, being the family that they should always have been. Happiness for Jacinta and Matias; continued bliss for Consuelo and Cristobal. Happiness for Flor and Camila in whatever direction life takes them. That David find a new purpose for his life rather than chasing the elusive dream of Leona.

Restored sight for Benja and a continued closeness for all of the children including AnaJu, Kika, Oliver and Danilo. A gradual return to the fold for Lola.

In the end, it is love that fuels us; that sustains us. It may be love of a partner, children, parents, friends. A love that sometimes consumes, sometimes comforts, sometimes encourages. But is consistent, loyal and unbreakable born of a bond forged in the heart.

Wow, guys! So interesting comments!

Adriana, "seeing a new and improved Gael after he's out of jail and how he starts to build a life now that his father is out of the picture, is a story I would watch" I'd watch that too! I also loved your prediction that maybe Gael will kill Ramsés. That would have been a nice plot twist.

Susan, I also watched this because of its star quality cast and interesting description. But I was very disappointed.

I wonder what would the Gran Final be like if the creators of the show wrote it? Would it be different?

Yes, "tricked and manipulated" indeed.

Babachita, "I have become increasingly disappointed with this novela, which is a shame, as the cast is excellent and story compelling." Me too! If I have time, I'll quickly re-read the recaps to see where the writing on the show started going downhill.

"there’s a difference between a story with some crime it and an excessively violent crime story." is spot on.

I actually disliked almost all the PSAs. I think a novela can't have too many of them and especially not in the way they were written. Many were "written" almost too PSA-ish instead of part of the story. Show, don't tell is key here IMO.

I am also glad it's ending and I will certainly never watch it again too.

Anon, I agree that the writers messed up with Apolo and Leona (and not with just them!) Cantú and Favela were indeed amazing!

Diana, I wholeheartedly believe in gut feelings. I hope you're right and Leona doesn't end up with David.

I have to say that "In the end, it is love that fuels us; that sustains us. It may be love of a partner, children, parents, friends. A love that sometimes consumes, sometimes comforts, sometimes encourages. But is consistent, loyal and unbreakable born of a bond forged in the heart." sounds so poetic and reminds me of the beautiful quotes you used in your recaps. This and Susan's "grief is the price we pay for love" quotes are my favourites from Caray so far.

Diana, Amiga , you are one of the reasons I keep coming back to caray . As Adriana wrote, you are one in million.... always have been through all the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune on the screen , here on the patio, and in real life . I am so happy to know you and be companions as we laugh and sometimes cry at these wild rides while helping each other suspend our disbelief . We have had some oddly philosophical conversations over the years while discussing these shows. Who knew ? Thanks for all the positive vibes your comments always inspire. One in a million.

OT

Since I started watching telenovelas in 2020, I have a big gap of previous telenovelas, so I have a quick question to ask you guys that have been watching prior to that.

Basically, I wanted to ask if anyone knows if there's a telenovela (of any country, Turkey included) that its main plot is similar to this: two women -one rich and one poor- go to give birth in the same hospital but their babies are accidentally switched. The rich kid lives with the kind poor family and the poorer kid lives with the snobbish rich family, without anyone knowing about the swap. Many years later the two families meet again and after some time learn about the swap.

It might seem weird to ask for a novela that I don't know if it exists or not giving so many details, so here's the (short) story: this was an "original story" in my country. The writers claimed that "they didn't re-make any foreign story". This sounds SUPER sketchy to me, because the plot screams it's a telenovela, it's not my country's script style at all and it won't be the first time some writer steals telenovela main plots and claims it was "their idea".

If anyone remembers anything, please tell me. Thank you.

OT

Weirdo, I never saw a telenovela with that storyline that I can recall. However, I have read of a couple true cases of babies being switched accidently at birth and the babies were raised by families that weren't their true families . It raises questions of the effect of nature vs nurture.

OT

Weirdo, plot you mentioned is similar to " Nuevo rico nuevo pobre" telenovela from Columbia.

OT

Susan, nature vs nurture is a big subject indeed!

Anon, thanks so much! You've got it! It's pretty much the same story with few changes!

Who will be watching Tierra De Esperanza?

Invencible

What I found unbelievable is that Consuelo and Cristobal, with all their empathetic, insightful, non-judgmental and kind advice, didn't stress upon Marena/Leona that Gael was just a kid and nowhere near equipped to "deal with" his father. What was he supposed to do? Run back into the burning building with his baby daughter in his arms? He definitely wanted to. But he was physically restrained by his father and his father's minions. HE THOUGHT SHE WAS DEAD! So how could he fight to "keep his family together?" Even Adrian/David thought she was dead. And how could he have fought for her and the babies before the fire? Ramses would not have hesitated to shoot them all down, including his own son, like sitting ducks in a carnival game.

I know, I know ... if Con and Cris had somehow convinced Leona that Gael was not to blame, there wouldn't be a telenovela. But they could've at least shown them telling her all this and trying to talk some "Innocent Gael" sense into her. Then she could have ridden her white horse to rescue him, too.

AMOR INVENCIBLE

Thank you for your kind words Weirdo and Susan...

I'm beginning to fear the passionate and unbreakable trust and belief the lead couples used to share is a thing of the past...I yearn for another Pasion, an Amores Verdaderos where true love triumphs and there are true joyous, happily ever afters.

Weirdo, I couldn't think of any example where babies were switched at birth but am happy Anon was able to supply one for you.

O/T

Weirdo,
the novela I saw about the nature vs nurture issue was Mundo de Fieras where Cesar Evora played a pair of identical twins who were adopted by two different couples. They were the polar opposite in personality but the evil one had been in a nasty accident as a teen, which could have been a factor. Then there is Tres Veces Ana where the identical triplets had three different personalities. The normal one was the one who was separated in childhood from the other two.

Check both if these out on Vix if you can.

Diana, times have changed , and telenovelas have changed . Maybe people don't believe in lasting love and devotion anymore.

I rewatched the episode . Gael said " Perdoname" to Benjamin 6 times in that Last scene . Those two actors really made it feel like a memorable father and son moment .It was an amazing scene with Gael's battered face and Benja's bandaged eye
making a stark contrast to Leona's flawless face, hair, and outfit.

OT
Weirdo, check out Quién es Quién? One of my all time faves. Telemundo, Eugenio Siller. Separated twins, one raised rich, one poor.

Tierra de

Yes, I plan to watch . Giddyup.

Hello anonymous friends. Like (as I am sure you all would be surprised to find) I am sure many people, I have been watching and sometimes enjoying, sometimes not, this telenovela with you and I wanted to thank the people that provide the recapps and the people that comment.
My thoughts- Daniel Elbittar is the new leading man that Televisa desperately needs. ENOUGH with Gabriel Soto and Sebastian Rulli and David Zepeda and all of the others we have seen way too much of.
Danilo Carrera I always thought gave me "frat boy" vibes qnd I never liked him. This show has done nothing but confirm that for me.
Marlene Favela should do more villains.
Juan Soler ages really well. Perhaps it is an Argentine thing.
I did not buy either Ramses or the actors interpretation of him.
He was just too over the top monstrous. All they needed to do was give him a mustache worth twirling and a black cape and we would have Mexican Snidely Whiplash.
The young actors portraying Marena and Gael's children have bright futures before them. The young actress playing Lola is annoying in her second major role where she plays a character that is totally different yet somehow manages to be just as annoying as the first one.
Those are my final thoughts. Thank you for letting me express them! :)
I too will be joining in for Tierra, but I am not sure about this.
I take private Spanish classes at my home three times a week with a woman who has become my friend (we gossip about telenovelas for an hour, then I have my lesson, and then we talk about telenovelas for another hour :)
She has been watching Tierra and said she is very disappointed in it and it's ratings have plummeted.
I begged her to not tell me any more and explained about this little community here that I was hoping to watch it with. I gave her the link to this web page and showed it to her and she said she thought it was a great idea and that she would like to check it out too (she would be a great person to do recapps because she loves telenovelas and is fluent in both languages, even though I think she watches most programs via satellite through Mexican channels).
But if you get a comment from a poster named Iris Marielos (she goes by Irma english speaking people) , that is my Spanish Teacher! But we shall see.
Thank you again everyone.

OT

Quien es Quien is Awesome! A+ for ability to mix drama with comedic relief!

I plan to watch Tierra

OT

Urban and Anon, thanks for the recommendations! I'll definitely check them out!

OT/Invencible/Tierra

Anon, hi! I enjoyed reading your thoughts! I especially loved "The young actress playing Lola is annoying in her second major role where she plays a character that is totally different yet somehow manages to be just as annoying as the first one." Lol so true!

I hope your teacher will be joining us! And to you and all Anons, please write more often! We have many readers but few commenters and we would gladly accept more! I started out as a reader myself, with my Spanish vocabulary being 5 words lol. We want to hear your thoughts!

I will not be joining the Tierra patio, because I've heard that it's pretty disappointing. And after Invencible, I don't think I can take another disappointment!

OT/ Invencible

Quien es Quien is a remake of one of my all time favorites Amor Descarado. Jose Angel Llamas does a great job playing the two roles and I just like him a whole lot more than Siller. Also Barbara Mori and our very own Calixto have major roles in that one. I'd recommend checking it out! The humor is also there.

Ive finished Invencible a while ago and I did enjoy it, a good story with great acting that turned a bit ... mediocre in the end. I feel like they didn't really know what to do with these characters. Its been a while since Ive been so immersed in a novela world. I like that about novelas, you get sucked into that universe and forget that this is just a made up family with made up houses. A lot of novelas nowadays dont take me into the story like that anymore.

Loved reading all of the recaps! The commentary is what makes me come back here again and again.

Invencible

Well, patio peeps, this is your last chance to place your bets on how this show will end . Our last voyage together in that tiny boat on the beach that Gael liked to stare at while daydreaming of his Mar. #sigh The last episode will reveal how the writers decided to end this tale of tossing and turning on the sea of love ....and revenge . " Come with me, my love, to the sea, the sea of love . I want to tell you how much i love you..." Which Ken will Surfside Barbie finally choose ? It's the last stanza of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. #albatross #dramamine

Time to assemble your snacks and beverages . I am going with Eggos and berries and yogurt.

Invencible

I'm going with popcorn and a beer for our last voyage. Hopefully all the tearful scenes are over now and there will be much cheer for the good guys' HEAs. If Surfside Barbie chooses neither one and instead starts long-warranted therapy, that would be fine with me.

Invencible + OT

First of all, Lurker, thanks for your comment! And ITA with "A lot of novelas nowadays don't take me into the story like that anymore."

As for snacks and drinks for the Gran Final, I think I'll go with crackers and homemade lemonade. The drink has to match the telenovela ;)

Damn, Vencer was postponed? Ugh. I guess I'll watch some older novelas until the Gran Estreño. Has anyone seen Soledad? It's a pretty old novela (1980) but hey, Christian Bach and Edith González are sisters there, so now I have to watch it, lol.

OT

“Coming soon or . . . NOT!!!” had me laughing. So true.

Invencible

Niecie, A beer seems fitting . After all, these folks are in the beer bjz.

Weirdo, When you are given a lemon, make lemonade. How fitting.

I am watching an old Azteca telenovela " La Mujer De Judas." Viktor Gonzales , (Cal) is in it playing a galan with coal black hair and no personality and poor kissing skilz. Daniel is the bad guy and doing a fine job of playing an arrogant, young player.

AMOR INVENCIBLE and OT

Weirdo, I applaud your choice of beverage for tonight "homemade lemonade. The drink has to match the telenovela ;)". Great choice.

Niecie, popcorn and a beer sound good and Susan I love breakfast for dinner (or an evening snack) so Eggos sounds delish.

I am having a shot of courage with a side of anxiety. Think this is going to be a nail biter. Ramses capture/death will likely monopolize some of the time.

I am beyond disappointed Vencer isn't coming now either. I'm undecided about Tierra but will probably give it a shot...

INVENCIBLE

Well, it's an aperol spritz for me, as I'm in Milan on Holiday. I hope I get to watch and if I don't, I'll check out highlights on youtube and read the recap.
The bigger question is will we open a bottle of champagne when El Fin arrives? I highly doubt it!

Weirdo,

That plot is one of the many tropes used in more novelas than I can recall up through the end of the last century and into the 2000s, mainly in Televisa and Rede Globo novelas.

INVENCIBLE

So is this novela worth watching?

I cut loose after 10 episodes but am now wondering if it is worthwhile since there isn't anything else, IMO, airing now.
