Wow! This dizi just gets more and more complicated. Dondi, thanks a million! I loved your snark about happily ever after, to paraphrase, there won't be a HEA because this is a dizi. Yes, these are darker than telenovelas.

What confuses me about the whole Merdan and Seda conversation is that, when his character was first introduced, it seemed to me he'd been in prison for decades. And Pars was searching for the records on his crime so as to, IIRC, embarrass Ilgaz with it. Of course, then Pars briefly turned into an ally. I guess the conclusion is that he still pulled strings behind bars and the child was cared for. Thanks, Lucio, for your theory about Merdan having adopted the boy's father, the one that he presumably loved more than Metin!

So...what was Merdan in prison for, killing the man who beat his wife to death? Yekta faked a paternity test so the child, now dead, was adopted by Merdan? Speaking of that boy, is he autistic? That rocking sure looked that way. So, is Merdan pretending to be the little boy's bio dad? He said that he was his father, but then he said that Defne, Cinar, and Ilgaz would be the boy's brothers and sister (Merdan's grandchildren).

I'm also confused about the guns. The gun that matched the bullet with Engin's DNA on it was found in Niyazi's apartment? I thought the gun that killed Engin and then was placed in Ceylin's hand and fired twice was left at the scene to incriminate her. How can a gun found to belong to Niyazi have fired the bullet found behind the birdhouse?

That power failure at the lab and Eren's grim expression in the car were head fakes for Viewerville.

Why do people not actually a principal in a trial still wear those robes with the colored trim in Turkey? Yekta?

Also confused about what happened at the hearing (trial?). Ceylin gave her testimony and was ordered to protective imprisonment. When Eren brought the new evidence, I thought the judge simply rescinded the protective custody until the trial. But the whole cast behaved as if she'd been acquitted. Later on a date was set for a trial. April didn't work for someone there and May was chosen. So, Ceylin still is going to be tried? If so, why did the whole family behave as if she'd been cleared? The judge said they'd investigate the Niyazi angle, but there's still a court date in May.

Ceylin, Ceylin, you need to stop hiding things from Ilgaz.

How the hell did Engin record what was on the flash drive and realize he'd be dead when it was delivered. The expression on his face when he saw Niyazi overpowering Ceylin was pure joy, thinking he'd been saved. He died two seconds later. When did he record that video?

I spent some time looking up libreto when the word was used in the episode. Dondi used checkbook and that's probably right. But the word means notebook and also the lyrics of an opera. What was in my mind was little bankbooks that no longer exist (or do they in Turkey). Showing my age here, but when I earned money in high school for babysitting and another part-time job, I had a little bank book. I put the cash into the bank and a teller wrote the amount in my bank book and stamped it somehow. I think the accounts the kids opened were to launder thug's money. Not sure what you get in Turkey when accounts are opened.

Again, a million thanks for all your hard work and for helping us make sense of this convoluted plot, dondi!

Secrets

Thanks for the kind words and comments, novelera.

There’s a lot to sort out in each episode. I’m always worried about getting it right. I appreciate all questions, comments, corrections, and clarifications. I wish we had more friends on the patio. Maldita sea, Telemundo.

Merdan was in prison when he was introduced. IIRC, his sentence was 10 years, but it seemed he got out early. Metin always uses words such as “abandoned”, “disappeared”, and “left” when talking about his father. His father would come and go throughout his childhood, missing most of it, whether because of prison, dirty work or whatever else. Some convos with Metin and Merdan were edited out.

I did some vocab research, too. In Spanish, Cinar said “las libretas” – the notebooks. Libreta de cheques is a checkbook and libretas de ahorros is a savings book. Telemundo chose checkbook for the English caps. I suspected it wasn’t quite accurate, but I went with it. Laziness on my part. In the Turkish, Cinar said, “hesap cüzdanları”, literally “account wallets” Passbooks, savings books or bankbooks would be good translations. Lol, “The Art of Translation”! Yes, novelera, that’s what we got back in the day for our little savings accounts.

Niyazi’s gun killed Engin. The one that Niyazi placed in Ceylin’s hand and fired twice was Engin’s gun.

This is what I’ve gathered about Turkish lawyers wearing tunics: The Turkish Bar requires all lawyers to appear in court with a tunic. It’s supposed to symbolize equality of the law. Lawyers like Ceylin wear green collars and DAs like Ilgaz wear red. Tunics don’t have pockets or buttons. A cultural thing. Buttoning up your jacket in front of someone can mean you take orders from that person. I’ve noticed this when watching “Mafia” dizis. They always button their jackets when appearing before the boss.

I think you’re right about Ceylin needing another hearing, but I think it’s just a formality.

It looks like Engin planned for everything, even beyond his own death. I wonder how many recordings he made to be delivered in that event. I want to know how the reporter got it.

Ceylin continues to annoy with her secrets and lies. She doesn’t appreciate Ilgaz. Does a man like him exist in real life? I’d like to meet him.

I can have a short recap up this evening.

Secrets

Thank you so much, Lucio. I don't know how you manage to make sense of the twists and turns. You have my admiration.

Very interesting interpretation of Merdan and Gorkem.

Are you watching the Turkish eps? We probably are missing content in Engin’s video, and it could be about Zafer. Turkish ep #22 ended with “But even if I’m dead, I’ll continue to surprise you” and Turkish ep #23 began with “You can ask for help from whoever you want". Ceylin was upset and maybe it was more than just seeing Engin. Crappy editing. One reason I prefer the original vs the edited import.

Yekta sure looked good sitting in the back of the police car. Can’t wait to see him in a cell. He’ll wiggle out of it somehow. I’ll enjoy it while I can.

secrets

Thanks, dondi. That was a real "duh" moment for me. Of course Engin had a gun. It was the one Ceylin was holding on him right before Niyazi shot him with the gun he had. Until Ilgaz found the bullet behind the birdhouse, it looked like he was shot with the gun left at the crime scene.

secrets

Recap up soon. It's a long one. I included most of Engin's video because I thought it was important. I don't blame you if you say TL;DR. But it's there for the record.

Secrets #46 part 1

Quote for Turkish ep #23: "I bear the wounds of all the battles I avoided." - Fernando Pessoa

Lacin is about to go to the courthouse when Ceylin arrives. Lacin asks if it is true, could Yekta have killed Engin? It seems to be true, Ceylin replies. Lacin says she thought about the possibility, but she would tell herself to stop. A parent wouldn’t kill their child! She is distraught.

Yekta signs his statement. Pars wants to bring Lacin in for questioning about the money she withdrew. He’s going to have Eren take Yekta down to the holding cell. Yekta objects. He wants to wait in the office or the hallway. Pars insists Yekta must go.
Yekta whispers to Cuneyt, call Lacin and have her explain about the money.

Eren fills Pars in on Derya’s case. The commotion continues in the hallway.

Metin meets with Derya about the case. He thinks the girl could already be dead. Derya is incensed. A 16 year old girl! What kind of mind or religion allows such a thing? [Turkish] How easy it is to kill! These parents raise their sons like kings. Men who turn into monsters when they don’t get what they want. Metin agrees and will assign a team. Derya will request a search warrant for the house. Maybe the girl is not dead, maybe she’s kidnapped.

The commotion is finally over. Pars tells Eren to bring Yekta to holding. His eyes light up with pleasure. Don’t laugh and do your job, Pars says. Of course, Yekta won’t go easily. He asks Cuneyt if he’s called Lacin to come. She’s on her way.
Eren locks Yekta in the cell. [Yes!]

Ilgaz arrives at the courthouse. Eren tells him Yekta is downstairs. Pars is going to question Lacin next. Ilgaz shows Eren the envelope Ceylin received. The flower of objection. What is this, Eren asks. That’s what Ilgaz wants to know. It was given to Ceylin.

Eren says, did you ask Ceylin? No, Ilgaz replies, she’s hiding it from me and avoiding the subject. Yekta was detained, this was Ceylin’s greatest wish, and she’s not here. Who would call Ceylin by that name? Eren says it’s someone she knows, and he thinks that “objection” is a good description for Ceylin. Ilgaz thinks, could it be Engin? Ilgaz wants to see Yekta.

Pars goes to the AG about Derya’s case. He’s concerned about Derya’s safety. The AG thinks to send guards to watch her office. Pars has another idea. He asks that the case be transferred to him. He can deal better with those types. The AG agrees.

Lacin tells Ceylin about her prison visit with Engin. He threatened me. Ceylin asks, was it about your relationship with Murat? Lacin is surprised she knew. What did Engin want? Money, Lacin replies, 100.000. I was desperate. I gave Murat the money so he’d leave it where Engin wanted.

Lacin says life is unbearable without Engin. Ceylin feels the same way about Inci. There’s only one person responsible for this, she tells Lacin, it’s Yekta. I want him to be punished. You want that too, don’t you? It could happen with your help. Ceylin suggests that Lacin lies. Don’t say you gave the money to Murat for Engin. It will seem that Yekta wanted the money for the hitman. [ah, Ceylin, ah!]

Are you asking me to blame him, Lacin wonders. Isn’t he already guilty, Ceylin replies, didn’t he protect Engin from Inci’s murder? He tried to frame my BIL. He destroyed my relationship with my father. He sent me to prison for killing Engin. Doesn’t he make you suffer every day? He blew up a building so no one would know his degree is fake. He’s dangerous. He will do anything to benefit himself. Someone has to stop him.

secrets #46 part 2

Lacin asks, are you sure he will be arrested if I testify? Probably, Ceylin answers, and you want Yekta to be punished too. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have told us about his degree.

Yekta insults Ilgaz’s skills as a lawyer and tells him he should go back to the DA’s office. He adds, once Lacin gets here, she will tell Pars everything and I’ll walk away. During this conversation, Ilgaz gets Yekta to say that Engin gave the “objection” nickname to Ceylin.

Gul calls Ceylin with the latest crisis. Aylin won’t open the letter. She won’t let anyone take it. Ceylin says to call Osman and she’s on her way.

Parla and Cinar get notifications on deposits to the fake bank accounts.

Ilgaz tells Eren it was Engin’s envelope. Eren thinks it could be an old envelope. Ilgaz says the doorman handed her the envelope. Engin prepared something. Why deliver it now, Eren asks. Ilgaz is more concerned that Ceylin keeps secrets. It’s hurtful, he says, I feel like a stranger in Ceylin’s life.

Maybe she’s waiting for the right time, Eren replies, maybe it was an apology. No matter what, don’t you think you’re exaggerating? Ilgaz says Ceylin hasn’t changed. She’s trying, but she can’t change who she is. There’s a part of her that often makes mistakes. Eren says she didn’t make promises. You accepted her as she was. Ilgaz asks Eren to keep this to himself.

Ceylin arrives home and Zumrut is outside waiting on pins and needles for the results. Ceylin tells her to go home, and she’ll let her know.

Aylin still won’t open the envelope. Osman tries to reason with her. Ceylin talks to her sister. Aylin is scared. It will change our lives, she says. She asks Ceylin to open the envelope. It’s Osman’s baby. Aylin tells Osman, we’re getting divorced.

The AG tells Ilgaz he will be rehired.

Lacin does what Ceylin suggested. She throws Yekta under the bus. She withdrew the money at Yekta’s request. That’s all Pars needed. Cuneyt knows this is trouble. Lacin asks if Yekta will be arrested. Pars says the judge will decide in a couple of hours.

Pars questions Eren on how much money a hitman makes. It’s in the ballpark. Pars asks Cuneyt for his opinion. Yekta had nothing to do with this, he replies, your accusations are baseless. Pars laughs at the cliché response.

Eren tells Ilgaz Pars will request Yekta be remanded.

Ceylin texts Ilgaz about Osman’s baby.

Gul and Aylin argue about the divorce. Mostly FF>> for me. Ceylin will handle the divorce if Aylin wants it.

Ilgaz asks Pars to see the statements. Pars asks, in what capacity? Your career changes are dizzying. Ilgaz smiles, as Ceylin Erguvan Kaya’s lawyer. Pars puts on his snarky hat, prosecutor by day, lawyer at night… Ilgaz interrupts, I filed a request and I’ll defend her until I get an answer. Pars says he’s requesting Yekta be remanded.

Are you sure, Ilgaz asks. You’re hard to please, Ilgaz Bey, Pars replies, only you have the truth? Only you are perfect? I could give you the following line from the Turkish or the Spanish, but the English cap says it best: “Now get your ass off that high horse and come down to our level”.

Cuneyt visits Yekta with the bad news. Lacin said you wanted the money. Yekta is livid. She betrayed me. She got her revenge. We need to find a way to get me out, he tells Cuneyt. Don’t let them issue the order. I’ll never go to prison. It’s time to talk to your girlfriend. Have her do what it takes. How can I ask Neva to do that, Cuneyt replies. Yekta reminds him, I didn’t I tell you to get close to her and start dating so you wouldn’t be alone in life! Hurry.

Ceylin is about to look at her laptop, when Osman knocks on her door. He wants her to intercede on his behalf with Aylin. More FF>> material.

Ilgaz notices Cuneyt approach Neva in the hallway. He follows and sees them go into her office.

secrets #46 part 3

Cuneyt asks for Neva’s help. He tells her if Yekta goes into custody, he will be fired. She’s not sure what she can do. Is this a request, she asks, or an obligation? I can’t make you do this, he replies, but I didn’t have to help you. I did it voluntarily. Neva, I really need your help.

Pars comes walking down the hallway and sees Ilgaz. Are you spying on Neva? Put aside your anger and resentment, Ilgaz replies, and I’ll tell you. Cuneyt and Yekta may have asked Neva for help. Yekta will do anything to avoid prison. We need to keep Neva from making a mistake.

Surprisingly, Pars says, we can’t do that. If she decides to do what’s wrong, I’ll stop her today, you’ll stop her tomorrow, and then what? Maybe hitting the wall is what will stop her. We will observe and hope she chooses right. But if she makes a mistake, she’ll have to pay. I’m tired of getting people to do what’s right. If my sister has to pay, she will.

Ceylin’s laptop needs recharging. She needs a charger. [Anything to stop us from finding out about Engin’s video too soon]

Gul asks about Aunt Makbule. Ceylin says Makbule never liked her. And who likes her, Gul replies. She thinks Metin is fierce, he’s strange. He didn’t say a word all night. She notes he doesn’t look at you when he talks. [if she knew…] Gul likes Cinar. They are all very strange. [look who’s talking?!] But the grandfather is very sweet, [lol]

Yekta is released to see Neva for the remand decision. Pars and Yekta present their cases. Ilgaz and Cuneyt are also present. Neva gives her decision: Given the evidence and the allegations, it is decided that Yekta Tilmen will be remanded into custody. Cuneyt says they will appeal. Yekta gripes. Neva silences him. Neva gives the order to remove Yekta.

As he’s dragged away, Yekta tells Cuneyt he will pay for this.

Neva asks Pars and Ilgaz if they have anything to say. Pars tells her he’s proud of her. Ilgaz says nothing.

Ha, ha, the press is waiting with questions for Yekta. Did you kill your son? Did you hire the killer? Yekta calls it a conspiracy. They are playing a game, but I will destroy them. I’ll be declared innocent and we will meet again. Yekta balks at getting in the stinky van. He wants to take his own car. Lol.

Cuneyt is very unhappy with Neva. Did you do this to show off in front of your ex? Neva cautions him, if you do this to me again, try to buy me, you will lose me.

Yekta goes to prison. He must hand in his tie, his shoelaces, his belt and he has to drop his pants! How humiliating. He’s brought to a temporary cell. This is great.

Ceylin is finally watching Engin’s video, she has earphones. We don’t hear any of it. She takes notes. Her mother knocks and calls, she doesn’t hear. Gul enters and Ceylin quickly closes the laptop. Gul tells her Ilgaz is here, he’s outside. Ceylin asks her mom to tell him she’s sleeping. Why, Gul replies, are you separated? You said you were married, we met his family. If you give up now, I’ll lose it.

Ceylin says she loves Ilgaz, she’s not giving him up. Gul says, so if you love someone, you don’t lie to them. Ceylin goes and Gul calls after her, be nice…I like my SIL, the DA.

Ilgaz tells Ceylin that Yekta is in prison. She’s joyful. He wanted to tell her in person. He notes that she didn’t call him. She says she was busy with her family. Ceylin says she’s grateful to the judge whoever it was. It was Neva. She’s surprised. Ceylin wants to hear all about it, especially Yekta’s reactions.

secrets #46 part 4

Yekta sits in a chair, arms tightly folded. A cellmate comes over. Counselor, relax. There’s a bed over there for you, friend. There’s a pillow. I swear they’re clean. Yekta can’t bring himself to go. [let me know how much you are enjoying this]

Ilcey take a walk. Ceylin pretends to be surprised by Lacin’s testimony. Ilgaz says more evidence is needed. Ceylin is grateful to Neva for not caving in to her boyfriend’s boss. Ilgaz says he was unfair to Neva. You had reasons to suspect, Ceylin replies, she doesn’t know you doubted.

Ilgaz turns to Ceylin, when you betray someone’s trust, a person becomes more skeptical. Sometimes you view life in accordance with how you think. She may not know, but that doesn't mean I’m not upset by what I did.

Ceylin asks why he’s saying this. Sometimes I get mad at you, because you lie easily to keep a secret, Ilgaz replies. Why are you mad now, she asks and gets agitated. Aylin’s divorce, Osman’s baby, a teen who worries about everything and my father is missing! Don’t stress me out! She walks away from him.

Serdar’s gang meets with the thug. He tells them to go to the bank tomorrow and withdraw all of the money. Don’t touch a dime and deliver it to the address I tell you. If you make any mistakes, you’re dead.

Ilcey part for the night on uneasy terms. She goes to her room and hides the flash drive in the bottom of a mug that’s holding pens and pencils. She moves it to the back of a shelf. She continues watching Engin’s video. She looks unsettled by something.

Breakfast at Erguvan’s is tense. Aylin is ready to go to the notary so Ceylin can represent her in the divorce. Parla bolts from the table. Osman says he won’t agree to a divorce. Gul asks Ceylin to speak with Parla. [It’s no wonder Ceylin is angry, all the unpleasant stuff falls to her.] Parla hates her parents, no one cares about her…. She ends up getting angry at Ceylin. Recappers prerogative FF>> You can discuss.

Ilgaz tells Metin he’s going to be a DA again. Metin gives him a hug.

Derya finds out her missing girl case was transferred to Pars. She’s pissed.

The AG welcomes Ilgaz back. He can have his old office.

Derya sees the AG. She asks why her case was transferred. The AG says he spoke with Pars. He gave him the case because it involved the mafia. Derya doesn’t understand. The AG hesitates. She asks, tell me…is it because I am a woman? Say it. I’m a woman and you don’t think I can handle it.

The AG is finding it hard to justify his position. Derya tells him, if educated and high-ranking officials like you do this, if people like you take work from me, they will become more violent. Is it okay to be sexist? Must I be assigned a gender while I do my job? Why can’t you just see me as a human being? What you are doing is more hurtful than what they’ve done. I’d like to have the case back. If I need anything, I’ll come to you myself. [Brava, Derya! Standing ovation!]

Next up, Pars. She barges into his office. What are you trying to do? What did I do, he replies. How could you take my case, she asks. You had no right, just because I’m a woman! Pars says that wasn’t it. She doesn’t let him speak. Who gave you the right to protect me? You think I can’t handle them because I’m a woman? Who the hell are you? She goes on and Pars can’t get one word in. Stay away from me and my case! She leaves.

Ilgaz is in his office. Ceylin comes by. She’s there to check on Yekta’s situation and file as Aylin’s lawyer. She couldn’t log into the Family Court system. Ilgaz grabs Ceylin’s laptop to update something. Her laptop has a password and she claims she doesn’t remember it.

secrets #46 part 5

Ilgaz comes out with it—you’re hiding something. Ceylin says, if there’s something I want you to know, I’ll tell you. Don’t treat me like a child. People are allowed to have secrets. She grabs her laptop and storms out.

Ceylin locks herself in a bathroom and deletes the file.

Serdar and gang make the withdrawals. They take off to make the delivery.

Ceylin returns to Ilgaz’s office with an apology. I remembered the password, she says. I’ll file the POA while you log in. Ilgaz takes her laptop, leaves the building and drives away.

Cinar goes with Serdar to make the delivery because he doesn’t trust him. The girls stay behind. A man meets them in the building. They need room 153 to make a delivery. The man asks did Hatip send you? He gives them a key and tells them to bring it back.

Serdar sees bags full of money. He’s starting to get ideas. Cinar has to pull him away. Cinar doesn’t care about the money. But Serdar says, we can take some and run away. It’s your chance to go abroad. Cinar pins him against the wall. How many times did we talk about this? We promised we wouldn’t get the girls in trouble. Hatip will kill us!

Serdar doesn’t hand the key back. He tells the man he has to pee. He heads back to the room.

Ceylin comes back to find Ilgaz and her laptop missing. She calls him. He turns his phone off. [Ha, they both changed the contact names on their phones to “sevgili” – dear or darling.]

Ilgaz has brought the laptop to Eren. He wants to recover a deleted file. The laptop is Ceylin’s. Eren makes a face. Does she know? Otherwise, it’s illegal. [gasp!] Ilgaz says she gave it to him to check it out. Since I have it, let’s look for it. I’m sure she’s hiding something that will get her in trouble. Eren reluctantly agrees to help.

While Cinar waits for Serdar, the girls come in. They were worried. Serdar appears, he returns the key and they all leave.

The IT guy looks at the laptop. He’s having some trouble. It’s old, it’s full, it’s slow. He restores the file. Eren asks Ilgaz if he wants him to leave. Ilgaz says stay. The video starts and they are startled to see Engin.

Engin apologizes for the production values. You’re a lawyer so you are familiar with these things. I could either agree to staying here after quietly submitting to the police or I could shoot myself. As you can see, I chose the latter, as fitting for a Tilmen. In other words, as the son of the devil’s lawyer, I choose to go down in infamy.

He continues, I poisoned myself. In order to have the death I’ve designed for myself, I need to get out of here. It will be your average shooting, but once I get out, I’ll make sure you witness my death. Right now, that’s my greatest amusement. I imagine different scenarios every night, but they all end in the same way. With you. In fact, I’ve been successful and you’ve avoided being a primary suspect, which is why you are able to witness events now.

Engin says, it’s a strange thing to plan your own death. Not everyone can do that. Prison is a strange place. You meet people with incredible minds. Now, I’m very curious. How long has it been since I died? How did you feel? Who was upset? Did you attend my funeral? You should have, we’ve been friends for years.

His questions continue, have you experienced as many problems as I think? Let me take a guess. You feel as relieved about my death as you are upset about me avoiding punishment. You were probably arrested too. I hope I get to see heaven someday. I’m dying to see it!

secrets #46 part 6

Now, I want to thank those who helped me. I hope you let them know. First I thank my aunt for the book. My mother for paying the hitman. Yes, I used my mother. My sweet father transferred the funds. Did you know my mother and the driver, Murat, are lovers? Anyway, they’ve all paid for the choices they made.

Speaking of paying, I just remembered, I was only able to pay half of what the hitman wanted. I’m sure you can put the rest together and pay him off. You can get that from my father. He must be very sad at my passing. I wonder if he celebrated after my funeral. I think I deserve a celebration, don’t you? Tell him to be proud of his son.

It’s strange to talk about it knowing I’m going to die. Yes, you’re surprised. I know you weren’t expecting this. But I’ve gotten you out of trouble just so you can focus on a single problem. The mother of all problems. Do a little research, you’ll find out what it is. You can ask anyone you want for help. And if you’re still with the DA he will help you, too. I’m done now. Goodbye my friend.

Eren says that was insane. He poisoned himself and had someone kill him! How many people we have chased because of this idiot! Ilgaz can’t believe Ceylin kept this from him. [really? It’s obvious she doesn’t want Yekta released from jail] Eren asks Ilgaz if he knows of some plan. No, he replies, they probably have some unfinished business. Ilgaz leaves with the laptop.

Ilgaz calls Ceylin. He tells her to wait in his office.

Cinar stares at Serdar hoping he didn’t make a mistake. A police checkpoint is up ahead. Serdar panics, He makes a turn and a cop calls it in. Cinar realizes that Serdar stole money. [of course he did!] Now everyone in the car panics. The cops are on their tail.

Ilgaz barges in on Pars. He hands over the laptop. I ask that you watch this video from Engin and act accordingly.

Ilgaz enters his office. Ceylin asks where’s my laptop? It’s with Pars, where it should be. Why? He answers, are you going to keep this up? I watched Engin’s video. Ceylin asks, what gave you the right? How did you get it?

You gave it to me, Ilgaz replies, do we have to argue about it? We can argue about this, but not your lies? You lied to me and the authorities! You know he didn’t kill Engin. You watched in silence while he was detained. You used me! You lied to me! You betrayed me! What would you have done if he was sentenced? You’d be happy? How could you let that happen? How could you think I’d allow it!

secrets #46 part 7

Wait a minute, Ceylin interrupts, you’re defending Yekta? He tried to send me to prison for murder! He’s done everything to humiliate me! Yes, I wanted him to be tried! That man is just as guilty as Engin for Inci’s death. We are talking about the worst person in the world! He committed many crimes! He has a fake diploma! But because we can’t prove it, he can kill anyone without a care! [She goes on… I can’t]

Did I say he was a good person, Ilgaz asks, do you think I believe that? But this isn’t the way. You can’t do this, it isn’t right! According to whom, she asks. Why is your truth mightier than anyone else’s? [lol, Pars said something similar] That monster will get out and I’ll be his first target! Is that fair?

She walks out. She stops. She turns back, she doesn’t move. She tries to calm herself down.

The cops are in hot pursuit of Serdar and the gang. Everyone asks him to pull over. The cops block him in. Tugce tells everyone to keep quiet. We’ll be taken to the station. Don’t say a word till we get there. Serdar flashes the money he stole so Cinar sees.

A cop tells them to get out of the car. The car gets searched. He asks Serdar why he drove away. We changed our minds where we would go, he replies. The cop orders a breathalyzer.

The trunk is searched. There's a big black suitcase. It’s unzipped a little for us to see. Uh oh. The cop calls the boss over. The boss calls it in--we found a burned body in a trunk.

And we are out!

secrets

Before I begin my comments, I want to say that I will watch tonight, but will be gone for the rest of the weekend. For over 25 years a group of friends and I have gone to an excellent Shakespeare festival. There are usually 3 plays, and we see them all: a matinee and then an evening performance on Saturday, stay overnight, and then an evening performance Sunday night. We're seeing King Lear, The Taming of the Shrew, and a non-Shakespeare play entitled The Book of Will.

This is to say that I probably wouldn't put up any comments on Friday's episode until Monday.

Fantastic recap, dondi! I appreciate especially the whole text of what's on Engin's flash drive. Lucio seems to have caught onto the fact that there was a lot more on Engin's video. I just thought what we saw the night before about "more surprises to come" was it. That was some HUGE reveal.

And now I understand Engin's smile as he looked at Niyazi over Ceylin's shoulder. I thought he was expecting to be saved. Nope.

And, yes, it is SO sweet to see Yekta behind bars. I'm pretty sure he'll be back there again, if not dead, before the dizi is over.

Eren is such a sweetie. He's watched the video but tries to make excuses for Ceylin, to try to save hers and Ilgaz's relationship.

If this was a telenovela, Osman would absolutely not be the father of Zumrot's baby and he and Aylin would fall into each others arms in relief. As you said, dondi, dizis are more tragic.

Why do Aylin and Parla continue to live with Gul? Osman had a very nice apartment and I thought they would have moved back there.

Neva...Yay! She needs to dust slimy Cuneyt off her shoes. It's only a matter of time until he's as unfaithful to her as he was to Ceylin.

Gul may be nasty, but she's right in this case. Osman is very repentant. Parla needs a father, especially now. And I think Aylin should forgive him.

"Anything to stop us seeing the whole video." Yep!

Yekta thought he could drive himself to prison. Entitled much? For once I'm glad to see the dormitory style prison conditions. Yekta needs to be surrounded by criminals.

Metin gives Ilgaz a big hug. Pfft! He's only affectionate now that his son has back the status position?

So we now know the thug is named Hatip. Serdar could have gotten all the kiddos killed. If I understood his conversation with Cinar in that room with the money, he was planning for the two of them to run off, leaving the girls to face the wrath of the mafia.

Whoa! Looks like Zafer is back. I suppose we'll get a flashback of Serdar digging him up. IIRC we saw him watching the burial. Not sure how or why he dug him up.

Once again, MANY THANKS for all your hard work on the recaps, dondi.

Thanks for your comments, novelera. Enjoy the festival with your friends.
I have a busy weekend so my Friday recap probably won't be up until Sunday night.

Secrets

Thank you, dondi356.

There is a variant of this show shown in Spain, dubbed into the Spanish of Spain, called "Secretos de familia." They don't cut out pieces and keep the original music, putting Spanish subtitles of the songs. They have the same episode numbers as Turkish. So, like you said, the beginning of Engin's video was the end of #22 and the end was the beginning of #23. So obvious that the content of the video was withheld from us, especially because Ceylin acted so strange.

Yes, Yekta's booking was satisfying. And his reactions just added to that. Mid-series mini anvil.

This whole plan of Engin to assassinate himself, with Ceylin as a witness is hard to believe. Why kill himself when he could run away? How could he plan to have Ceylin present during his murder? Beanie time.

Looks like the games are over for the gang of drug traffickers / money launderers. Silly kids. For a couple of hours of excitement, they are in real trouble now.

"The mother of all problems" - Engin must refer to Zafer. Engin's arc seems to be ending, time to investigate and have drama related to Zafer.

OT

Since I started watching telenovelas in 2020, I have a big gap of previous telenovelas, so I have a quick question to ask you guys that have been watching prior to that.

Basically, I wanted to ask if anyone knows if there's a telenovela (of any country, Turkey included) that its main plot is similar to this: two women -one rich and one poor- go to give birth in the same hospital but their babies are accidentally switched. The rich kid lives with the kind poor family and the poorer kid lives with the snobbish rich family, without anyone knowing about the swap. Many years later the two families meet again and after some time learn about the swap.

It might seem weird to ask for a novela that I don't know if it exists or not giving so many details, so here's the (short) story: this was an "original story" in my country. The writers claimed that "they didn't re-make any foreign story". This sounds SUPER sketchy to me, because the plot screams it's a telenovela, it's not my country's script style at all and it won't be the first time some writer steals telenovela main plots and claims it was "their idea".

If anyone remembers anything, please tell me. Thank you.

OT

Weirdo, I put "telenovela babies switched at birth" into Duck Duck Go and immediately came up with a Turkish telenovela entitled Paramparça that seems to have that kind of plot. You can find more info about this one at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parampar%C3%A7a_(TV_series). (I'm afraid you'll have to copy and paste that URL, or just do a search on the telenovela title.) I suspect that there are a number of other telenovelas using this plot device, but I can't think of any offhand. You might give Duck Duck Go or Google a try.

secrets #47 part 1

Quote for Turkish ep #24: "How many lies have been told on earth; in words, in writing, in pictures, or in silence." - Yusuf Atılgan

Ceylin replays events in her mind. Awful things Yekta has done, her coercing Lacin to give false testimony, Ilgaz reprimanding her. She goes back into the courthouse for another round with Ilgaz. Ilgaz says, why do you think we have laws and sentences for each crime? To serve justice. Can a sentence be unjust? Is that moral? That’s one of the principles of criminal law.

Sometimes justice can’t be served, Ceylin argues. So what do we do, Ilgaz asks, jail a man who didn’t kill his son? Is that just? Worse, you’re defending the mistake you made. Whoever did this will pay, but he (Yekta) didn’t kill his son.

Ceylin doesn’t want to talk about it anymore. She gripes, it’s my fault for coming here and thinking you’d understand. We need to talk, Ilgaz replies. Ceylin refuses—what’s the use? We get back to the place where your truth rules. It’s not my only truth, Ilgaz states, but that of the law and society.

Ceylin has had enough, and she heads for the door. Pars comes in. He’s on his way to submit the video to the court so Yekta can be released. He senses this is a bad time for Ilcey. But he has a question for Ceylin, how did you find the video? The doorman gave it to me, she replies, an unknown man gave it to him in an envelope.

Ilgaz tells Pars to submit the video asap, he can question Ceylin later. Pars snarks—is Ilgaz her lawyer or a DA? Another question for Ceylin, when did you get it? It’s important since Yekta can claim that he was wrongly imprisoned. He will say this is your work. Don’t let him accuse you of tampering with evidence. I’m giving you a heads up so you don’t call me a traitor. Ilgaz answers, it was today. Ceylin is surprised. Pars is skeptical. Was it today or days ago? Ilgaz repeats it was today. We watched it and brought it here. Pars accepts that.

Pars asks about the big problem Engin mentioned. What did he mean? She shakes her head. Pars says he needs to know if it concerns the law or the case. Ceylin says she’s trying to figure it out. Pars goes. Ceylin turns to Ilgaz, you lied for me. Ilgaz is silent, he doesn’t look at her. She thanks him. He leaves.

Serdar is searched. They find the money he stole. The gang is loaded into the police van. Merve wonders what the cops found. A corpse!

Ceylin returns to her office. She looks at her calendar. “Call. The ship should have an arrival date.” The boat is arriving on Wednesday. She calls her mom. Dad’s ship is arriving in three days!

Ilgaz sees the AG. He wants to start working immediately. The AG “recommends” that Ilgaz be more careful in his job. It’s hard to establish and maintain a balance.

Cut: Cuneyt sees Yekta. He tells him Seda returned to Izmir. Yekta blows up. He didn’t tell her she could go. He asks what Cuneyt’s been doing. Did you appeal? I have to get out of here! He rips into Cuneyt for not doing his job. I need a miracle! Yekta shouts about the crowded cell, the dirty conditions, the stink of the people, bad food. No air, no sleep.

Cuneyt sees the warden to ask for special accommodations for Yekta. Being older and because of his profession, he should have an individual cell. This isn’t a hotel, the warden replies, there are rules. First, the temporary cell, and then we consider age, profession, crime. A clerk enters the warden’s office with a court order pertaining to Yekta.

Eren and Metin discuss the missing girl case. It’s back in Derya’s hands. They hope it’s not a homicide.

secrets #47 part 2

The gang arrives at the station. Serdar tells them, remember what we talked about. We’ll tell the same story. Eren and Metin see them from the window and are shocked. They are even more shocked and upset when they find out the reason.

Metin orders, separate them and we’ll find out what happened. Call the parents of the minors. Notify the juvenile DA and the child specialist.

Parla has a panic attack, don’t call my mother! She’ll go crazy! They say they will call Parla’s aunt instead.

Metin takes Cinar for questioning.

Ozge asks Ilgaz if he will take her back as his assistant. Derya enters his office. A deal is made. Ozge will work for both until Derya finds a permanent assistant.
Eren calls Ilgaz. Come to the station asap and bring Ceylin.

Cut: Angry Eren questions Tugce. She says they’re innocent. They have nothing to do with the body. He asks when did you become such friends? She says she knew Parla from school. The others she met at the dinner, and they decided to meet again.

Metin is beside himself. What do you mean you don’t know who the corpse is? Does this have to do with Zafer? Cinar doesn’t know—do you really think so? Metin asks, how did that body get into the trunk? Did it fly in by itself? Cinar has no idea.

Metin shouts it’s the same old thing. He asks, what were you doing with Tugce and Parla? We wanted you to be friends, not hide a body in a trunk! He grabs Cinar by the collar and lifts him from the chair. Do you enjoy making me suffer?! Cinar goes to the door and calls out, get me out of here. I have the right to be questioned like a human being.

Eren and Pars look at the body. Practically ashes. Pars thinks it was someone short or maybe a minor. Eren agrees. He asks about the coroner. A cop says Hilmi died yesterday, and everyone is at his funeral. Eren tells the cops to check what they can in the meantime.

Metin calls Eren for an update. It seems to be someone short or a minor. A gender? Nope. The body is totally burned. Eren tells him they are checking all they can.

Ilgaz picks up Ceylin. He tells her what he knows. Ceylin says they (the kids) just recently met. When did they become close enough to hang out together? Ceylin says she suspected something was up with Parla. She gave her chances to tell but she never did. Ilgaz thinks Ceylin should call Aylin. This is serious.

Aylin throws Osman’s stuff into the street. Gul argues with her. Dad’s coming back, he won’t let you divorce. Osman comes home and asks what’s going on. She swipes the house key from his hand and slams the door in his face. Ziver comes out and comes over. Osman tells him Aylin wants a divorce.

Yekta is released. He wants to take a long bath. He asks Cuneyt how he got released. New evidence. They found out who ordered Engin’s murder. But he doesn’t know who yet. The DA says there’s something Yekta needs to see.

Eren calls Ozlem but Fatih picks up. Come to the station, your daughter will be interrogated. Pars is with Eren. Eren tells him Tugce was in the group and that Tugce’s legal father doesn’t know he’s the bio dad. Pars grumbles but says he will take that into account. He’ll be careful. He says to let the minors wait. Get started with the adults.

The juvenile DA had an accident, so Pars says he will take over. Everyone else is involved and Engin’s case is closed, so he has time.

Ilcey show up at the station. Ceylin says she will be Parla’s lawyer. Pars welcomes Ilgaz back to the DA ranks. Why don’t we start where we left off?

Ceylin meets with Parla. Parla cries in her arms.

secrets #47 part 3

Metin tells Ilgaz that Cinar is the same as always. He says, “I don’t know”. Ilgaz asks if Metin knew Cinar hung out with Serdar. No, he says, you think I would have allowed it? He doesn’t listen. Ilgaz says Cinar told him he wasn’t friends with Serdar anymore. Remember when he came home beaten? He said he fought with Serdar, so I followed Serdar. But I didn’t do it for long. Metin replies, Cinar is an adult, you can follow and forbid but he doesn't listen.

Ilgaz thinks Cinar is hiding something since he got out of prison. Why does he insist on leaving the country? Metin has no answer, he doesn’t even look at Ilgaz. Ilgaz thinks he’s hiding a secret or crime or both. Metin says it’s that generation, they can’t handle trouble. He excuses himself to go to the crime scene.

Lacin has prepared a meal. There’s music playing and she’s drinking wine. Yekta quietly comes into the room and sneaks up on her. He grabs her—I’m back. I’m here with you now. She gasps. He asks did you miss me? Are you happy to see me? He plants an unwanted kiss on her. He wants Gonul to get rid of his suit, he’s taking a long shower. Then there are things to do.

Ozlem and Fatih come to the station. Fatih wants Tugce released but Eren says she has to give a statement. They can see her.

Ceylin says she knows what’s going on. She’ll tell but first she wants to talk to all the gang. She’s going to represent all of them. All of them, Ilgaz asks. Yes, is it a problem? No, Ilgaz replies, but Serdar had cash on him. He probably stole it. So what, Ceylin answers, he still has a right to a lawyer. Eren warns them about Tugce’s father.

Lacin talks to Cuneyt. Are you sure Yekta knows I testified, she asks. Yes, he replies, Yekta was remanded due to your statement. She worries—he’ll kill me. Cuneyt asks, did you give a false statement? She admits it. Engin asked me to withdraw money, Yekta had nothing to do with it. What is he going to do? Cuneyt says stay calm, don’t worry.

Lacin goes straight to Yekta. I didn’t mean to make that statement, but when I was about to go to court, Ceylin stopped by and confused me. She said you killed Engin. She was sure. It’s all her fault! Yekta asks, why did you withdraw that money? Engin asked, she replies, but I don’t know what for.

Yekta walks out and Lacin follows. Where are you going? What are you going to do? Say something. Do you forgive me? He answers, let’s go to the courthouse. The DA wants us to see something.

The gang is interviewed. Everyone sticks to the story. Serdar decided to go to a party that he wasn’t invited to. He asked Cinar and the others to go.

Parla says the party was in Atasehir. Cinar and Serdar went to check it out first. We waited in the car but got worried when they didn’t return. Merve called but they didn’t pick up. We went to look for them.

Tugce says the party was on the 16th floor. Fatih interrupts Tugce’s interview. He feels it’s not proper. Eren says it’s by the book, the child specialist is there, and Ceylin says she will intervene if necessary.

Tugce continues the story. Cinar was in the hall alone. She’s not sure, but the party was fake or called off. Cinar said Serdar was in the bathroom.

Serdar says the room was empty except for bags. There was money inside. I told Cinar we should take them. I swear he said no. [Serdar admitted he took the money]

Parla starts to get upset during her session and needs a break. [Eren gives her water and waits a bit.] Parla says they were stuck in the elevator. Eren asks, how long you inside. About 10 minutes.

Cinar talks about the traffic stop. Serdar decided to turn and that’s when I knew he took the money. Then the cops caught us. Eren asks, did you know there was a body in the trunk? I swear I didn’t know.

secrets #47 part 4

Everyone claims they knew nothing about the body in the trunk.

Derya shows Engin’s video to the Tilmens and Cuneyt. Lacin gasps.

Ceylin thinks the kids are telling the truth. Stupid adolescents who thought they were going to a party. A conspiracy or a coincidence. Eren nods, someone might have used them. He says there must be a camera.

Ilgaz says it sounded like they memorized a speech. Did they make it up? Ceylin questions him, is it just because they made sense and stories match? When would they have rehearsed, Eren adds. Don’t you think Parla would have given them away? Ilgaz says it could be a lie based on facts or they are omitting something.

Engin’s video ends and Lacin has to leave the room. Yekta follows. She’s distraught. Our son committed suicide. Why? Because your son was sick, Yekta replies. Who would embarrass themselves like that? He was so useless he planned his suicide. An imbecile who killed himself to escape from the war. Engin was weak.

Who drove him to it, Lacin asks accusingly. That’s easy to answer, Yekta replies. You say my son was doomed because of me because I didn’t love him. But look what you did. Your affair hurt him much more. He couldn’t take it and killed himself. [wish that was the case for Yekta.] Yekta tells Lacin, did you hear what he said? “He’s like a second father” because you were lovers. You hurt our son more.

Yekta returns to Derya’s office. He asks if the laptop is Ceylin’s. She thinks so. He asks if she knows the dates of the videos. She says to ask Pars.

Yekta and Cuneyt leave. Yekta vows yet again to destroy Ceylin. He tells Cuneyt she saw the video but allowed him to be incarcerated. She manipulated Lacin. Cuneyt can hardly believe it. He wants to go report this asap. We could end her career. Yekta laughs, you lack vision. I want to drag her through the mud and destroy her! Even if it’s the last thing I do! [I think Yekta and Ceylin are each other’s “white whale”.]

Footage is viewed to confirm the gang’s story. It matches the statements, but no one got near the car. The body was already in the trunk. Pars asks Eren to run the plate. Find out where the car was before and after. Question them again.

Ilgaz gives Ceylin the update. She asks him if he thinks Pars will let the gang go. Ilgaz replies, what do you think? She thanks him for the info and leaves.

Derya is speaking with her sister when Metin comes to her office. They investigated the house in the missing girl (Pinar) case. They didn’t find blood, but they found footprints. I had the security cameras checked, Metin says, some guy, Ogul, was carrying her to his car. She was unconscious. Do you know where he took her, Derya asks. She orders him to check records, cameras, and run the plate. One more question—was she unconscious or…. Metin says if she’s asking for an answer based on his experience, it would be a sad one.

Ceylin speaks with Cinar. She tells him the body wasn’t planted while they were in the building. He asks, so when did it happen? Can you answer that, Ceylin replies. No. Really. He swears. You don’t believe me anymore?

I always believed you, Ceylin responds. When no one else did I said, “This kid did not kill my sister.” I saw inside you. I saw your struggles. I believed you, but right now I can’t. How could you do this? How could you involve my niece? What was Parla doing with Serdar who is still on trial for drug possession? She’s a minor! You should have protected her? Wasn’t Inci’s death enough?

secrets #47 part 5

Cinar is ashamed. He starts to talk. Ceylin shuts him up. Forget about us, but shouldn’t you protect Parla in Inci’s memory? Tell me why? You’re right, he replies, please forgive me. It’s my fault. I beg you to forgive me, I don’t expect you to. But hear me out. I swear I knew nothing about that body. Neither did Parla. None of us knew. Ceylin is disappointed. She leaves.

Yekta and Cuneyt go over the notes of Engin’s message. They focus on the “problem”. [they keep changing the translation on this. First they said “padre” of a problem in Spanish with Eng. Trans “mother”, now they translate it as “a pickle”. Original Turkish “I left you a father like problem”. So maybe Lucio was right when he said this was about Zafer.]

Just like the rest of us, Yekta wonders what that meant. He says sometimes the truth is right before our eyes and we don’t see it. We must figure it out before Ceylin. Cuneyt reads it again adding, [Turkish] if you don’t find it, it will find you. Your DA could help.

Ceylin comforts Parla. She’s disappointed in her niece. She lied to her and now she’s in trouble. Parla worries what will happen. Will I go to prison? Ceylin doesn’t know, but she’ll do her best.

Ziver and Zumrut show up at the Erguvan house. Aylin answers. Ziver says they have come to have tea. Aylin lets them in but not before she gives Zumrut the “if looks could kill” treatment.

Ceylin wonders what Pars will do. Ilgaz thinks he will issue an arrest warrant. Ceylin says Pars and Ilgaz think alike.

Pars tells Eren he will issue arrest warrants and the minors will go into custody. Or maybe temporary cells will be better, he says, it goes against the law, but stress makes people come up with solutions and our job won’t be so hard. Let your friends know. Tell them not to worry, there are no bad intentions. You are here and they will be safe. Meanwhile, we will find out about the body in the trunk.

Ziver says Osman told him about the divorce. Gul pipes up that Osman was lying. Aylin says it’s true, they are divorcing. Ziver says every marriage has its ups and downs. Aylin appreciates the concern, but her mind is made up. Before he goes, Ziver asks Aylin, is there someone else? Should I scold Osman? Did he do something so low? Aylin replies, better to ask your wife, she knows more than I do. Ziver stammers a goodbye.

Gul is upset that Aylin made that comment. Did you have to say that? Yes, Aylin replies, it’s only the beginning. You should be glad I didn’t go further. He just came to snoop. If he’s dying to find out he should ask his wife. Ziver deserves to know.
Ceylin calls Aylin about Parla, but she asks if Parla can sleep over with her. Aylin gives permission.

Ilgaz tells Cinar he will be detained. Ilgaz says, I know you’re hiding something. There’s a dead body and no one believes the story. The truth always comes to light. You got minors involved. Cinar swears he has nothing to do with the body. Okay, Ilgaz replies, but something is holding you back. Let me help you. Cinar shakes his head. Ilgaz says he will find out.

Ilgaz tells Ceylin he thinks Pars did the right thing. If one of them talks, it will be over soon. Ceylin tells Ilgaz about the “sleep over”. You never change, he replies. You and Cinar are alike. How so, she asks.

He shouldn’t have involved Parla or Tugce, Ilgaz says, he shouldn’t have gotten involved himself. But no matter what we do, he looks for trouble. He makes mistakes out of spite. Just like you. You can’t stop lying and hiding the truth.

Maybe accepting us the way we are terrifies you, Ceylin replies. Nobody wants to be wrong. Everyone longs to change… but we may not know how to do it. A known evil is better than an unknown good. Not knowing what you will become is terrifying. It’s scary because failure burns you.

secrets #47 part 6

Eren tells Tugce he’s staying and will work through the night to solve this. We’ll get through this together, okay? Tugce gives him a hug and cries. Uh oh, Fatih and Ozlem walk in on this. Fatih threatens to beat Eren. Ozlem warns her husband, he’s a cop. Tugce spills the sopa, what cop? He’s my father and I was hugging him.

Fatih laughs. What is this brat saying? Eren wants to step outside and talk. Fatih asks if this is true? Tugce says it is. Eren is my father. Fatih grabs Ozlem—let’s go. If her father is here, let her stay with him. Ozlem pushes back. I won’t leave her here alone! Eren tells Fatih to cool down. Fatih threatens everyone. Eren has him tossed out.

The gang are in the holding cells. Ceylin tells Parla about the sleep over. But they can’t hide this forever. Ilgaz brings them something to eat. He asks Ceylin to go eat with him. She doesn’t want to leave. They won’t get into trouble here, Ilgaz replies. Parla tells her aunt to go.

Ceylin asks Ilgaz, what will happen to us? He doesn’t know. He asks, how do we stay by each other’s side? I don’t know how to be alone either. But there’s one thing I know… I won’t give up on you. I don’t know how. Some people are afraid to change, but there’s no need to be afraid. If you are willing to change, if you want it, I’ll always be by your side. I’ll help, just ask, as long as there are no lies between us. Promise you’ll try. She nods—I swear. Hug.

A cop has been reviewing Serdar’s routes. Before he picked everyone up, he was at a construction site in Beylikduzu. Footage shows he drove in alone and left alone 10 mins. later. Eren says find out who owns the site and who went in and out.

Metin and Derya look at footage from Pinar’s case. [Hmm… looks like that car went to the same construction site at Serdar.] Two men take the girl from the car. Derya says we don’t know if she’s unconscious or dead. Metin thinks it’s bad. Derya wants to go to the site. And call Ogul in.

Serdar is questioned again. Eren tells him he has a lot going against him and now there’s a body in the trunk. Be a man and speak up! What were you doing at the construction site? Where’s Ceylin, Serdar asks, I won’t talk unless she’s here. Eren scoffs, you put her niece in danger and then ask where she is? Confess now!

Metin and Derya are at the site. Something was burned. There is a piece of clothing. Metin makes a connection to the burned body in the trunk of Serdar’s car. We can check for a match. Derya finds something else a necklace that says Pinar.

Ceylin thinks about the big problem Engin left her. She’s thought of everything. She says she doesn’t have the video anymore. Ilgaz tells her to get the flash drive she hid. That’s right, she says, you remember everything. She adds, I know something will hurt me there. That’s how he takes revenge on me.

Ilcey review the video at the station. She gets upset. I’ll suffer if I solve it, but what if I ignore it, and someone needs help? It upsets me anyway I look at it.

Eren tells Ilcey about Serdar and the construction site. He may have put the body in the car there. Eren tells them about Derya’s missing girl case. The body is probably the girl. She was at the construction site where Serdar was. I’ll question him again, but he wants his lawyer. Ceylin is ticked. She wants a word with Serdar.

Next morning, it is confirmed that the body is Pinar. Ceylin asks if Serdar confessed. No.

Ilgaz goes to see Pars. Since the body was identified and Serdar is the main suspect, shouldn’t you release everyone else? Pars quips, did you become a lawyer again? A 16year-old girl was murdered. Their fate is in the hands of a judge. Ilgaz says he only asked. Pars makes another snarky comment.

secrets #47 part 7

Ilgaz says I know you’re offended, but I don’t get why you made a show of what happened and turned your back on us. As if making mistakes weren’t something human or as if something could not be fixed. We’re on the same side. We have to work face to face. Continuing this way will wear us out.

Aylin looks out the window. Ziver drags Zumrut out of the house. He shouts, get in the car! She cries. They drive off. Aylin calls Ceylin. Ziver knows everything. He’ll probably take her for an abortion. Ceylin starts to tell Aylin about Parla.

Pinar’s parents are waiting for news. This is hard for Derya. She tells Pars they haven’t arrested Ogul. He’s on the run. We found a necklace at the scene. It’s not conclusive. Pars tells her the body has been identified. It’s Pinar. Derya is very upset.

Ilgaz tells Ceylin about Pars decision. It’s going to the judge. He thinks it’s correct. A 16 year old was murdered. She says she told Aylin everything and Ilgaz says telling the truth suits her. I made a promise, she replies.

We see Fatih following Eren down the street and into a restaurant. You wanted to talk, he tells Eren. Eren agrees. Fatih wants to talk outside, without weapons. Leave yours here.

And we are out.

Could someone be kind enough to direct me to the Blog Administrator?

I would very much appreciate the help.

Secrets

Thank you, dondi356.

For the young delinquents, police are only part of the problem. I am sure Hatip counted his money and found that what Serdar stole was missing. The police should also investigate that "party" room full of money.

In Engin's video it must be "father" of a problem, translating it any other way is wrong. Ceylin's father. And the ship where Zafer was supposed to be is arriving at port in three days.

secrets

Thanks, Lucio.

Father of a problem it is! Engin also said "if you don’t find it, it will find you". Hard to believe that Ceylin or Ilgaz wouldn't think of Zafer right away. Does Yekta know anything about Zafer?

Serdar is in a boatload of trouble, maybe he will make a deal with someone regarding info on Zafer. Would it be the cops or Yekta?

Vikki, the one email I believe to be a blog administrator is rgvchick627@gmail.com. She should be able to help you.

secrets

Again, many thanks for such a fine recap and for all of them, dondi. This dizi has me by the throat. I would prefer one-hour episodes so as to make your life easier and for other reasons.

The body of poor Pinar in Serdar's trunk is a bit mystifying. My theory is that they put the burned corpse there as punishment for his stealing from them. But the timing seems odd. And, if punishment for Serdar is the case, then the same mafia that money launders also had members involved in kidnapping and subsequently murdering that girl. From what the parents said, they took her in full view of her parents, presumably to rape her. If it were forced marriage, a thing I've read still occasionally happens in Turkey, she'd still be alive.

That was such a sad scene with Lacin. Her hair was loose, music was playing, and she'd prepared a terrific looking solo dinner. Then the verdugo she'd thought she'd rid herself of comes up behind her. As a woman from a very different culture I have a hard time with the fact that she doesn't just run away from him, maybe go to Seda or to a shelter if there are such things.

Ilgaz is always the smartest guy in the room. He caught onto the rehearsed speeches by the four younguns.

Yekta is a sadistic bully. How he loves torturing Lacin. That rant about "destroying" Celin was scary to observe. I am worried the timing of the video will be discovered.

Great remark about Ceylin and Yekta being each other's white whale. A couple of years ago my book group read Moby Dick at my suggestion. Looooong. But it felt like an achievement and something crossed off my bucket list.

I guess I was way off base about the "father problem". You and Lucio are probably right he was teasing about Zafer. But what I thought it was about was Engin's own father, certainly a problem for everyone who knows him.

Looks like Aylin got a solid dose of spite from her mother (and maybe her father, come to think of it). She couldn't resist the remark about Zumrot to her husband. I hadn't thought of an abortion. I was thinking he was taking her to a train station to go away forever or something like that.

So Serdar is still going to be tried for selling drugs, as is Cinar. Looks like a lot of people in Turkey get released on OR.
