Things are really moving right along.
LUCAS/ROGELIO/PAULA Lucas is having a hard time getting used to life at the Iturbide house after his mother's death. Imelda decides to poison Lucas further against Paula. She tells him that Paula is pregnant and if he thinks he has not been getting any attention now, things will surely get worse. He is suddenly hostile against both Paula and his father calling them liars. He tells his father that he was lying to him when he said he loved him more than anything in the world. How will that be possible when he has another child? Rogelio says he will love both of them just as much, not one will be better loved than the other. Lucas thaws quicker with Rogelio than Paula. Paula tells Rogelio it would probably be a good time to send him one of the videos Erika made for him. Lucas plays it and it improves his mood. He decides he wants to go to the cemetery thinking it will make him feel closer to his mother. He lets Paula take him. He is surprised when he doesn't find the feeling he was looking for at his mother's grave. Paula explains that is because his mother is not there. She lives in his mind and in his heart. She tells him about losing her own parents and how she finds a connection to them in a song, in seeing something in nature, etc. She thinks it might be that way for him.
FERNANDO/XIMENA Ximena wants to resign after the incident with Beatriz. Fernando tries to talk her out of it but when she hears Rogelio telling him that she should resign, she follows through. What she doesn't hear is Rogelio saying that the reason she should resign is that she will be the one that will be hurt most in the situation. Fernando sees her again in a children's store where he buys something for Ava. They are attracted to each other. That night he goes to see her at her apartment but gets cold feet at the last minute.
MARCO/ROGELIO/HIS BOSS Marco has his appointment with Rogelio and tells him his hotel room on wheels plan. Rogelio says it sounds like an RV. Marco says int is n a way but this is different. HIs hotel on wheels would meet the traveler when he arrives and pick them up. There would be a driver and teh vehicle would be fully stocked with food, etc. There also would be set routes for the vehicle to travel. Rogelio says they would need a market analysis to be done. Marco sounds like he is disappointed to not get an automatic green light on the project. Rogelio tells him he has so much going on that he would like Marco to give him a little time. Marco acts insulted. At the garage, his boss hears him talking about the project with Chuy and he is interested. Marco wants to give Rogelio a bit of time to think about it. His boss wants to strike while the iron is hot before somebody else steals the idea. He is going to start looking for investors. He believes in Marco.
MARCO/BLANCA Marco is continuing to pressure Blanca to get married. He promises her that he will support her dreams. She tells him not to pressure her. She mentions to Paula that Marco has proposed. Paula asks her what she is willing to put up with to be with Marco. Blanca answers absolutely everything. Paula tells her not to lose sight of her dreams or education. Blanca assures her that she will not lose sight of herself. Blanca manages a cute way to tell Marco she accepts his proposal with the help of some fortune telling birds in the park. They get married the next day after hiring a couple of street vendors to be their witnesses. They go to the family home and Marco tells his mother that he wanted to to do things the right way with Blanca, so he married her. He hands his mother their marriage license. Martina is not pleased.
IGNACIO/IRMA/CECILIA Cecilia is surprised when Irma shows up all ready to go into her place. Irma took the extra key and is keeping it. She only wants to make dinner for her son. Cecilia asks her what she did with her clothes that are missing. Irma is insulated that she is calling her a thief. Cecilia tells her she will not be coming into her home. Irma insults her and leaves. Cecilia gets the lock changed. Ignacio has another therapy appointment and is disappointed that his therapy isn't having quicker results. Hs mother is still upset and he is still angry. The therapist tells him that it takes time. Every time he modifies his behavior, others have to change theirs to respond to it. His mother is getting to experience with what it is to deal with him as an adult and she doesn't like not being in charge. The therapist adds that as long as his self esteem depends on others' opinions of him, he will always be unsatisfied. She suggests that he take slow breaths when he feels angry and count backward from 100. He gets to try out that method when he gets into it with Cecilia about his mother. He starts defending his mother and blames Cecilia for the problems she has with her. Cecilia stays out of arms reach from him and tells him his mother is disrespectful and a gossip. Cecilia does not feel comfortable in her own home. Ignacio responds with "She's my mother." Cecilia agrees and says that is why this whole thing is strange. It is not normal . She leaves. Later, Ignacio apologizes. Cecilia tells him she is afraid that he is going to lose it sometime with her and she will end up getting hurt. He promises that will never happen. They kiss. Irma is at her new place talking to an empty chair where supposedly Ignacio is seated as they "both" eat supper.
EVERYTHING ELSE
Ximena gets a message from her bro. He knows she isn't woking at the Iturbide company any more and wants in on the good severance pay she must have been given. He will be in touch.
While visiting Irma with her mother, Imelda finds the Hipólito letter (?) in Irma's bedroom.
Fernando tries to make nice with Imelda. He brings Ava the baby bracelet Imelda wanted and her a handbag he thought she wanted. She find s it "funny" compared to the one she sent him pictures of. There is no pleasing her.
Luis moves out. He tells his mother he is not angry with her. He agrees to come home for dinner for a while. Andrea comes over the first night and their is romance.
Paula tells Ulises that she will not be able to help him with the new project because she is pregnant. It seems that her pregnancy has finally dampened his last hopes of getting back together with her.
Martina is insulted that Paula didn't tell her about being pregnant. She doesn't care that Paula wanted to wait until after her first trimester. Paula is always causing problems!
Rogelio talks to Albert Jensen about his air transportation plan. Mr. Jensen tells him that his planes need to keep flying to be maintained. He likes Rogelio's business values. Rogelio takes him on a tour of the company.
Lucas tells Martina that Imelda told him that Paula was pregnant. She tells Imelda that she better watch herself because nobody is going to hurt her grandson.
Please add anything I left out.
Marco thought doing things the right way meant marrying as soon as possible? And I don't understand why Blanca all of a sudden changed her mind. If you 'have to think about it' or 'need time', how is it a good idea to marry in such a rush?In Marco's case it felt more a case of it's wrong to just live together if you aren't married.
Rogelio mentioned to Paula Lucas wanted to be sent to a boarding school. Paula's response soounded like it would do him good, but did I miss a no in there? Because it makes no sense for her to want to send him away.
Imelda thinks Fernando loves her and so will not be unfaithful. Love isn't infinate and it's easy to wear it out if you try hard enough. But I can't believe Imelda's stupidity. Why treat your husband like that?I can't think of a single likable quality Imelda has and she wants all the attention to be on her. Who could possibly tolerate her enough to want to give it to her? She seems to like showing her scorn to people she doesn't think are of use to her. Will she be one of those characters who all of a sudden see the light? I can't imagine it now because there was nothing good to see from the start. But she should be smarter when it comes to Fernando. It's no good when you are both dumb and vain. It was funny when she said to herself she needed to think of better things to say to Martina.
It appears Ignacio is damaged goods in this telenovela because the best way to make sure he doesn't hit you is not let him approach. That's no life at all.But I feel sorry it's like this if they will redeem Imelda. Ignacio at least loves his mother and feels something for Ceci. Imelda most probably loves no one. I can only imaginehow she would poison her daughter's mind if the girl later turned to someone else for comfort or just happened to like some other person.
Gracias, Jarifa.
These episodes show why living with your parents after a certain age is a seriously bad idea.
Paula's preferred timing of her pregnancy announcement is highly understandable and Martina has no right to demand instant notification. She was totally out of line to get on her case about this. Paula and Rogelio need to realize that if Lucas heard this from Imelda they need to look at how this happened. Imelda snubs Paula and insults her at any opportunity and that flag is redder than her hair.
One thing omitted: Eva and Fidel talked on the phone about that night's dinner. It was evident that she doesn't know him well enough to know his favorite foods and she seemed unaware that pregnancy puts the kibosh on alcohol.
Episode 14: Notes; Part 1 of 2
Advisory: This is what I can write down during one viewing. Will end if there is insufficient interest.
Maria Teresa stopped Santos from leaving to sleep in the truck. They took the room. Santos teased Maria Teresa about the situation.
Aldo demanded that Genoveva call him when Maria Teresa returns no matter the hour.
Chris went out for a beer and tried to get a date with the barmaid. No deal there yet.
Maria Teresa was apparently asleep in her clothes on top of the bed. Santos took the pillow from the other side and put it on the floor, then laid down. She opened her eyes, looked at him, and smiled.
Valentina pounded on Santos' door the next morning and had a petulant expression when there was no answer.
Santos got coffee for Maria Teresa who thanked him for giving her the bed. He said they would be on their way shortly.
Valentina was even more petulant at hearing that they were out all night. [Little girl, go back to the wading pool. You aren't ready for any deep dive.]
Trejo's latest guest in the cellblock threatened him, knowing that Marcos was involved.
Clemente was studying a book on sign language as Norma entered with fresh juice and older poison that Adriana gave her about Maria Teresa.
Maria Teresa and Santos got back and told the staff they had sold everything and that the money would be shared with them. Valentina looked as though she had swallowed vinegar.
El Chacal and Marco had a disagreement.
Genoveva told Maria Teresa about Aldo's call. Maria Teresa called him back as everyone went off to work. Valentina did not leave to accompany Bernarda and got nosier than ever with Santos about the previous night's sleeping arrangements. [Santos, you need to get a restraining order.] Valentina and Santos argued but he was not direct enough.
Aldo was in a conference room as Maria Teresa explained the problem getting home the night before. He was told by his colleague (or lawyer) he could not leave the city for a reason I forgot.
Marco threatened the imprisoned man with the implied death of his family in front of the man's own young son. [He's already earned a nasty Karmageddon this early om the tale.
Remedios tried to convince Santos that Maria Teresa was not for him because... her father. He denied interest with something on the order of Rhett Butler's “I'm not a marrying man,” but Remedios wasn't buying it.
Episode 14: Notes; Part 2 of 2
Advisory: This is what I can write down during one viewing. Will end if there is insufficient interest.
As Marco left the police station with the child Camila spotted him from across the street.
The ranch employees picked fruit as Santos announced they were going to buy more hens. Regina steered Valentina away from this.
Trejo gave Maria Teresa some BS about providing security before steering her to the cellblock. She recognized the man in the cell as one of the ones who had attacked her.
Regina and Valentina talked about a book in which a woman made her lover jealous by flirting with another man. This seemed to pique Valentina's interest.
Maria Teresa looked the man in the eye as he spoke anything but the truth. Maria Teresa then went to Rutilio and told him that this man was lying, He tried to gaslight her into believing that Santos was responsible for the attack.
Santos made a deal with a man named Teo for 30 hens and arranged for delivery.
Clemente told Trejo he was going to Esperanza but Trejo gave him a contrary order.
Maria Teresa went home to find Marco. She told him about the sale and her plans. He pretended to be happy about this. He definitely has other ideas about her.
Rutilio and Trejo reviewed their experiences of Maria Teresa before going to the cellblock.
Camila stopped Clemente on the street and told him about seeing Marco with the child.
Marco went to Teo and ordered him not to sell the hens to Maria Teresa “because she is a thief” and added the charges on which her father had been arrested. The man seemed to comply.
Adtiana and Irasema (her sidekick) came to make another loan offer and issue a dinner invitation. During this Irasema made some cutting side comments and a tasteless joke about Maria Teresa being dirty from work.
Bernarda and Valentins argued over the latter's disobedience. Valentina is still determined to pursue Santos [while getting on our last nerve].
Adriana told Marco she was at Esperanza looking down on Maria Teresa for working with her peóns. Marco said he did what it took to cause her to lose everything.
Trejo came to the ranch on the pretext of getting Santos to testify about the attack, as he was the last person who had not. Santos refused. As Trejo stepped forward he deliberately knocked Maria Teresa down thereby provoking an angry response from Santos.
Jarifa, thank you for another great couchcap. We are moving along .
Imelda is becoming increasingly insufferable continuing to say awful things to a grieving child . She is heartless as she treats everyone with distain. I have to grimace as she totes her poor, tiny Ava around like an accessory and snoops at Irma's.
Irma is sliding down a slippery slope into madness . Can Igy save himself ?
Luis seems to have broken the spell of Madame Butterfly an escaped . I am fascinated by those apartments behind metal doors that look like a garage door . What is up with that? Where is this show filmed ?
Marco, tranquilo, you are moving way too fast. Oh , impetuous youth.
Ulises looks heartbroken . Surfs up , dude. Time to hit the beach with the sun, sand, and surf because Pauly seems hopelessly devote to Rog.
I love Fidel, but Eva gets in my nerves .
Thanks for stopping by and adding the extra information and your comments.
waterlily, I hate to be the one to ask it, but will Blanca be pushing a baby carriage soon, too? Looks like every pre-menopausal woman is at risk for pregnancy because nobody evidently uses birth control. As for Blanca and Marco, they are young and the hormones are running high. It is disappointing but far too common. I cannot wait to see what Martina has to say. She should be happy that at least they won't be having (more) sex out of wedlock. He tried to do the "right thing" in her world by marrying Blanca. "Ignacio is damaged goods in this telenovela because the best way to make sure he doesn't hit you is not let him approach. That's no life at all." Perfect! I think the most interesting character of all is Ignacio because he isn't your typical novela macho wife-beater. He knows something is wrong with himself and why but will he be able to heal himself enough to have a normal life? I have my doubts and that could make him a rather tragic figure.
Urban, "These episodes show why living with your parents after a certain age is a seriously bad idea" You can say that again. Thanks for mentioning the engagement party. It is sure to be something else especially with Fidel wanting Martina to be invited. "Imelda snubs Paula and insults her at any opportunity and that flag is redder than her hair." You have such a way with words! ; )
Susan, "Irma is sliding down a slippery slope into madness ." It seems that we see her go farther over the edge with every episode. She is scary. I was happy that Paula told Ulises about her pregnancy. She has to know that he has been hanging around only because of her. That has been annoying me. If she knew he still had it bad for her, why did she let him come work at the school in the first place? Not kind to him or to Rogelio. Your advice is the best: " Surfs up , dude. Time to hit the beach with the sun, sand, and surf because Pauly seems hopelessly devote to Rog." Delilah Polanco (Eva) played a similar role in "Por ella soy Eva" (which started Wed. on Unimás at 4:00 p.m. central time.) : )
Urban, thank you for the recap. I don't know what interest there is in this TN, but I am extremely interested. I wish I could help with the recap but I just don't have the Spanish skills to do so.
If there are others watching this TN please add comments to show interest. I would be sad to see Urban discontinue recaps.
Lester
Thanks, Lester. Having recently done an entire series alone I can't do that again anytime soon.
Valentina is the most annoying novela character in recent times and the unscrupulous trio of Marco, Rutilio, and Trejo almost look unstoppable. Aldo is a novice compared to them. He freaked out at the sight of a tarantula!
I am surprised but glad that Maria Teresa decided to change her wardrobe. The pink was much too Barbie.
Jarifa, no show tonight gave me the opportunity to continue to read your marvelous recaps; excellent short stories in and of themselves.
I’m now caught up after missing “only” 8 rather than 10 episodes! That said, there was so much that happened, it proves this TN is really speeding down the track with very few stops!
Surprises certainly, some of them welcome; others, not so much. Erika deceased; Marco and Blanca married; Lucas’ mind being poisoned against Paula; Luis out of the house (huge relief); Ignacio “rising” through the ranks through any means necessary; Paula AND Eva pregnant, Fernando and Ximena storyline out of the blue and finally, the unnerving “Irma is at her new place talking to an empty chair where supposedly Ignacio is seated as they "both" eat supper”. Irma is a sick, twisted, and demented individual. While she can’t claim exclusive credit, her allowing Ignacio to be beaten without interfering has earned her a warm and toasty berth in Hades.
Martina still fueling the fires of hate and resentment…At least some things are consistent! 😊
Jarifa, thank you so much!
Diana
Thanks, Jarifa, i didn’t have time to read and comment today but now I have free time. But I do look forward to this show and was disappointed that it’s not on.
Imelda is something else. It seems like Fernando talked to her about making comments, but I doubt it will do any good. And they way she tossed his gift aside, unbelievable. Did her parents just let her have her way in everything and give her whatever she wanted! I really want Fernando to leave her for Ximena. I feel like Imelda deserves that. She’d be very hard to love.
Poor Cecilia had to back away and leave the house when Ignacio got mad at her. That’s no way to live. I wonder if this marriage will make it.
What surprised me was when Imelda saw the letter she tossed it back in the box. I was sure she would open it.
I’m still enjoying Eva and Fidel. Blanca and Marco not so much. And his bus idea really does sound like a camper.
I wonder if Martina’s romance will help her leave her adult children alone. She is being a good grandma to Lucas. I guess she’s not allowed to have much to do with Ava.
Liz
Thanks, Urban, you are going above and beyond. I am still watching this show but there’s too many bad guys. And the people that know how they are don’t tell others. And Valentina gets on my nerves. She’s so obvious in her devotion to Santos and he just seems so much older than she is. He really needs to put a stop to it.
I imagine Marco will have men attack the ranch again. I hate that as they all are working so hard.
Liz
Diana, so glad to read your comments . Missed your presence and your words.
Liz,I thought that sneaky snoopy Imelda put the letter into Ava's diaper bsg.
Thank you Susan, I appreciate your kind comments!
Loved your "Iron Butterfly" regarding Martina. Perfect!
Diana
Susan, knowing Imelda it would make more sense that she took the letter. I think I was so surprised she didn’t read it I may not have been paying attention!
Liz
Liz, it was funny . She was carrying Ava around and wandered info the bedroom snooping and immediately picked up the letter. I remember wondering how she was going to stuff it in her skirt while holding Ava. Instead, she out it into the big diaper bag. Imelda needs a wake up call about being nosy, egotistical, and rude to people and a big anvil at the end .
Thanks, Jarifa. Super job. I've lagged behind, but your stellar, snappy recaps got me up to speed.
Blanca might as as well join the trend and get pregnant right away. Not! But honestly, Cecelia is doing one smart thing by not getting pregnant by Ignacio.
I'm not taken with Eva, but she and Fidel made me laugh out loud the other night. I wish she would stop slouching or look like she's slouching. Maybe it's wardrobe?
Niecie
Diana, glad to hear you are all caught up and back on the patio. I am looking forward to another very entertaining week. I haven’t been disappointed yet.
Liz, wouldn’t it be nice nice for Martina to be less obsessed with her childrens’ lives since she has a romance of her own? I don’t know how all of her sons were still living at home with Martina nosing into their person lives all the time. It would be interesting to find out how Imelda got to be so sour and bitter at such a young age unless she was just born that way.
Niecie, glad that the recaps have kept you caught up. I wonder if anyone won’t be pregnant by the end of this. At least Felipa should be for a pleasant surprise.Fidel and Eva are certainly good for laughs. We need more humor than just the staff with Martina judging every breath everyone takes.
Urban, thank you so much for your notes.
"Valentina was even more petulant at hearing that they were out all night. [Little girl, go back to the wading pool. You aren't ready for any deep dive]" had me smiling in appreciation!
I've only watched here and there and missed all but last night's episodes this week. To be honest, I only know the lead character's names so have a lot to catch up on.
I really like Santos and Maria Teresa. Santos has a million dollar smile and I find him very attractive. He seems to be a "real" galan, very rare these days...
Diana
UA, Diana, Jarifa, SpanProf, Darcy, Liz & Co.,: I'm assuming y'all heard about the passing of David Ostrosky ?
Steve Boudreaux
Okay, I am in. I usually just have this show on because it is on before " Mujer." However, it recorded instead of Mujer on Friday ,and I watched . I love the scenery and the buildings and the colors ...that bright blue door at the hacienda. I have to suspend my disbelief regarding how clean everyone and everything is . I picked a lot of potatoes and sweet corn as a kid. Also, I get a kick out of the duena wearing those necklaces as she toils in the fields . And I was confused seeing them carrying eggs out of the vegetable garden . Does Valentine
Do any work ? I like the galan except for his deer caught in the headlights stunned look. What kind of ranch is it ? What crops do they raise ? What kind of orchards ?
I hate seeing Tomassi playing old and sick.
The fiance (ex??) Looks like he might burst out of his sportcoat at any moment.
Episode 15: Notes; Part 1 of 2
Advisory: This is what I can write down during one viewing. Will end if there is insufficient interest.
Maria Teresa stopped this from getting worse and calmly told Santos he needed not to lose his temper. She knew that Rutilio and Trejo were dishonest and said she would deal with that.
Adriana was obviously confident she could fleece Maria Teresa out of her lands and get her out of the area. Marco contradicted her about the latter and Adriana warned him he had to watch out for the company Maria Teresa keeps, emphasizing that Aldo was nothing like Santos. Marco still did not see her point.
Valentine bugged Chris about Santos and was put out at his answers.
Maria Teresa and Santos argued as they got to the police station. He refused to allow Rutilio or Trejo to accuse him of anything he hadn't done. They followed Trejo to the cellblock. Santos grabbed the criminal inside and threw interrogation questions at him. He would not answer them. Maria Teresa tried to get Santos to calm down and release him. Trejo finally ordered him to stop or he would be locked up. Maria Teresa turned Santos' head to face her and got him to calm down. Trejp led them toward an office and stopped Maria Teresa from following Santos inside.
Clemente was seated at the desk and he asked Santos questions about Regina. Santos warned him to watch out for Bernarda.
Maria Teresa demanded to know how long this would take and Trejo was not having it.
Santos and Clemente talked more about Regina and Bernarda before a cop named Uribe came in to interrogate. It was dark before Santos and Maria Teresa were able to go home.
Rutilio and Marco talked about them with Rutilio speculating on whether Maria Teresa will be another of Santos' conquests. Marco denied that, saying that Maria Teresa is different.
Clemente told Norma about his day and his growing opinion that Maria Teresa is a good person. Norma was not buying this and looked completely unwilling to believe it. She also told him to stay away from “those kind of people,” asking how else could these horrible things have happened since Maria Teresa arrived.
As Santos and Maria Teresa said goodnight to each other and she went inside Valentina showed up saying she was worried about him. He said he was alright and why was she determined to cause distrust between him and Maria Teresa. He also warned her not to be out alone at night. “I'm not alone; I'm with you,” she replied. He saw her home. >[We are miraculously spared from seeing her kiss him again.]
The next morning Bernarda and Remedios talked about Valentina. Bernarda was concerned about her inability to get closer to Valentina. Remedios advised patience because she is now closer to Santos and could tell that he was in love. Bernarda could not believe it but Remedios told her that people can change.
Esteban woke up in Nany's place, She told him to stay in bed but he would not and got up to shower.
Don Teo came to Esperanza to tell Santos he would not be selling to them because he doesn't do business with crooks. He had his rep to consider in view if Esteban's arrest. Santos tried to tell him about the gossip mill but this ended in a stalemate.
Episode 15: Notes; Part 2 of 2
Chris and Valentina talked about chickens, etc.
Maria Teresa and Santos searched through the study while talking about toxic gossip. They found a source named Francisco Torres but he had already drunk the Kool Aid.
Esteban's doctor told him he needed rest and blood pressure medication. Nany wanted to tell Maria Teresa, but Esteban did not want her to.
Maria Teresa then thought of an alternate plan. Later (or the next day) she watched others harvest produce as Genoveva went around with a juice pitcher and Valentina shooting daggers with her eyes. They somehow got some hens so there were eggs to collect.
Esteban collapsed into a comfy chair, looking like he had a headache. He took a pill.
That night Maria Teresa went inside, satisfied with the day's work.
The next morning Clemente tried to leave early for work and Norma tried to stop him. She failed to do so and complained to Rutilio who acknowledged that their son had behaved strangely of late. Norma was annoyed and seemed to blame him, but Rutilio dismissed this.
Things seemed to be going well at Esperanza as Chris and Santos looked around in satisfaction, commenting on their great employees. Maria Teresa arrived and Santos walked off with her, causing Chris to speculate to himself about them.
Clemente left a note for Regina but Bernarda saw him walking away. She reminded him she did not want him around that area and told him to take his investigation elsewhere,
Aldo visited Esteban, talking about Victor whose name Esteban did not want to hear. Aldo said he was looking for evidence that Victor framed him. Esteban got up from the breakfast table and collapsed on the floor.
Marco sneaked up behind Bernarda and shocked her with a grab. After a momentary resistance she accepted his kisses. [WTF?]
Adriana and Iresema came to visit Maria Teresa bearing white-dusted pastry [Arsenic?] Maria Teresa got a call from Aldo about Esteban. She said she would get there ASAP.
Bernarda pushed Marco away, saying they had too much work. He did not show his displeasure and left.
Clemente had left Regina the drawing he did of her. She was pleased and Valentina was impressed.
Maria Teresa told Adriana she had to go to the city to see her father. Adriana tried to get her to trust the running of the ranch to her but Santos arrived just in time for Maria Teresa to ask him to take care of it.
Marco got a call that caused him to say “Well done” as the car carrying Maria Teresa stopped. Maria Teresa told Marco where she was going. She thanked him for his help. Adriana smiled smugly.
Bernarda walked over to the rives, took off her shirt and jeans, and swam.
Santos worried about Esteban and was talking to Chris when Pedro arrived, his face bloodied. He had been stopped on the road, beaten up, and the truck stolen with all the goods he was driving to market.
Thanks, Susan. I am with you on Maria Teresa's sudden wardrobe change from that disgusting hooker pink to the more appropriate blue jeans and western wear, but what woman who works on a ranch leaves such long hair hanging down in that kind of heat? It's hugely impractical and also doesn't look right with a Stetson; Valentina is the worst offender.
I agree that Valentina's only purpose in life is to chase Santos and I wish he would be more direct with her about cutting it out. I don't know how old Valentina is supposed to be but I'm sure Santos was working the ranch before she was born. Since Bernarda has probably been overprotecting her all along she has some responsibility for this obsession.
Norma also annoys me with her outdated clothes and her attempt at infantilizing her son. She is also rather stupid about other women.
Urban, thanks for the excellent recap.
It was tremendously helpful in not only explaining exactly what happened but I now know who some of the other characters are.
"He also warned her not to be out alone at night. “I'm not alone; I'm with you,” she replied. He saw her home. >[We are miraculously spared from seeing her kiss him again]" was exactly right! Valentina's sole purpose in life is to salivate over Santos. Not that I blame her but she is far too young for him; he should have put a stop to her infatuation long before this.
I was really surprised Bernarda is smitten with Marco; it's obvious they've been together before. I wonder if that cold water swim cooled her ardor. Marco is hawt but perhaps she'd be better off channeling her defensiveness toward herself.
Diana
Thanks, Urban, another informative recap. I feel like María Teresa and her crew are going to be taking one step forward and two steps back for most of the show.
Bernarda has such a low opinion of men but is willing to kiss Marco. I had figured he was one that had raped her and maybe the father of one of the girls.
I thought Aldo was just going to ignore Esteban on the floor. So was surprised he called for help.
I like Clemente and hope he will get to the bottom of everything. But now I’m sure his dad regrets saying he needs to do a man’s job!
Santos needs to tell Valentina to get lost. Why would he allow her to kiss him!
Liz
Thank you Urban for your wonderful recaps!!!
I totally agree about the long hair and ranch work....I think I almost got heat stroke watching Maria Teresa muck out the stables with her hair down the other day. No way on earth would that happen in real life!!! I have long hair and during the summer I have a hard time leaving it down to go to the store, much less do manual labor.
I think Santos is attracted to Valentina....that's why he lets her kiss him. It's changed now, since he's met Maria Teresa and is falling in love but the attraction is still there. I remember from the first episode before the new boss lady came to town and Valentina was flirting with him, he definitely looked interested. Maybe just reluctant to act on his interest due to the age difference and his respect for her mother. My bold prediction is that Valentina will end up with Chris. I get a vibe from their talks. It's not interest yet, but it's definitely a connection. He isn't looking at her because he knows she's hooked on Santos and he has no chance, and she's not looking at him because Santos is her world, but I can see these two spending more and more time together just talking and being confidants and falling in love before they ever see it coming....that would be fun to watch.
I don't think Marcos raped Bernanda but I do think he's one of the daughter's father. My guess is he did his whole playboy love em and leave em thing with her but then regretted it later. He's after her because he can't forget her and she hates him because he broke her heart, but she also loves him because she just does. Not the first woman to be in love and in hate with her first love. I am so thankful I've been able to let go of past romances and have no lingering feelings positive or negative for any ex's.
I am still trying to figure out whether Bernanda really expects her daughters to go their whole lives without ever getting involved with a man - she definitely bitter and all but she doesn't seem delusional, she must know she can't keep them away from men forever.
Urban , thank you.
I guess Santos is exhibiting that annoying galan trait of waiting a couple beats before moving away from that person he shouldn't be kissing.
I don't do any work like that but I put my hair up in the summer. When the hot weather is over I get it cut to shoulder length (which looks much better with a beret).
Bernarda does seem practical in most things so I fail to see how she can expect that neither of her daughters would ever get interested in men. I guess she can't afford a convent school.
I wish the writers would tell us how old these girls are. Whether they will or not we have to find out the identity of their father(s). There was a flashback to Bernarda being raped by Rutilio so he is my Person of Interest on this.
Thank you Urban as always.
I completely missed the flashback to Bernarda being raped by Rutilio. He very well could be the father of one of the girls. Imagine the drama if he is Regina's father and Clemente ( who is smitten by Regina) is actually his half sister.
Is Adrianna Marco's step mother? Didn't she kill Marco's father by pushing him over the cliff or did I get that wrong?
I agree 100% with the comments about Valentina and her always swarming over Santos like an annoying fly?
Lester
Lester, I don't recall the flashback of Bernarda being raped by Rutilio either.
Yes, Adriana is Marco's step mother. She killed her husband by pushing him over the cliff but blamed Santos which is (one of the reasons) why Marco hates him.
Diana
Is anybody watching? I didn't see the alert about the changed time! My satellite TV schedule showed it as on at 10:00 so it didn't tape. I saw the last one minute.
ARRRGHHH!
What did Bahar say to Arif's profession of love?
What else happened?
I can't believe I missed this episode. This whole series has been absolutely brilliant, so wonderfully plotted. And the acting! And now 3 episodes from the end where everything is all being explained and resolved I missed it!
