Currently not watching anything, I just wanted to say bravo to Juanita and novelera for being able to keep up with Telemundo's crazy scheduling and to dondi for recapping double episodes.
Great job patio! There’s not much for me to add.
Yekta is a wounded animal and will become extra dangerous.
Eren, Pars and Derya were eating İskender kebap: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C4%B0skender_kebap
Cut: Aylin bought back Gul’s wedding ring. She left it in the kitchen for her mother to find and then she put it on her mother’s finger. She didn’t want the connection to her father to disappear. Ceylin warns Parla about Hakki and tells her to spread the word among her friends.
I’m glad that Ceylin made it plain to her mom and sister that Zafer was going to kill Cinar. Crazy Gul says “so what”. Ceylin says, I’ve seen up close how hate consumes you. Hatred can blind you. I don’t want to go through that. Nothing was cut from that scene.
There was a song cut. Ceylin staggered away from her meeting with Cuneyt and Neva and we also see Ilgaz working on his van.
Song: Yalan Dünya/World of Lies - Neşet Ertaş

Merdan, Ilgaz, Pars and Eren were playing Okey: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Okey
Thanks for giving us the cut scene, dondi. I WAS wondering about that game. It sort of reminded me of Scrabble with the wooden tiles and I also thought about backgammon, but the pieces were square.
Yekta finds Cuneyt in the office. No Ceylin. Cuneyt admits he lied and now he lies again. He says Neva is the one who’s sick. He knew Yekta wouldn’t have allowed him to go and come back.
Maybe this was a cut. I go back and forth and sometimes I’m confused: Yekta has a flashback. Ozgur comes to him asking about Serdar’s phone. Yekta takes it out of his desk drawer. They try to figure out Serdar’s password with no luck. Yekta realizes the phone is very important.
Ceylin runs from the building, to Ilgaz out on the street. How did you know I was here, she asks. You’re timing is impeccable. If it wasn’t for you, Yekta would have caught us. You followed me, right? You saved my life.
Ilgaz says he was scared. [and he’s angry, too.] I should get used to the way you do things, he says, but I can’t help but wonder how far you are willing to go. But you saved me, she replies, thank you for being curious and following me here. He says it’s his duty. And it’s become automatic when it comes to her.
Unfortunately, Ceylin and Cuneyt did not find the phone. But Ceylin says she found a bomb.
Cuneyt goes straight to Neva, who welcomes him in.
Ceylin was able to take compensation paperwork from an advertising company with HQ in Romania. They couldn’t complete work for him and Yekta requested a 10 million penalty fee as stated in the contract. Long story short, Yekta is laundering money—“kara para aklamak”.
Pars says the documents they have are legal, they need proof. Ceylin says she’s going to investigate. If she can prove Yekta committed a crime, they can get a warrant and maybe find Serdar’s phone. Ilgaz is worried, but Ceylin can’t be stopped. He’s going to give her a ride home.
Pars can’t tell if Ilcey is back together or not. Eren explains that Ilgaz followed Ceylin and let her know that Yekta arrived and brought her back here. He asks Pars, if something could happen to your loved one, would you sit and wait?
Song: Uzunlar/Bright Lights (like the high beams on your car) - Evdeki Saat

Ceylin asks Osman to meet at her office.
Ilgaz, Pars and Derya have breakfast at an outdoor café. Pars and Derya have a little back and forth about what they eat and Ilgaz can’t help but smile. Ceylin arrives. They talk about how to handle Yekta. Pars says this is above the DAs and the AG. I’ll make a long story short—Ceylin has found the connections to the black money. Now she’s going to meet with Osman as part of her set up of Yekta.
Serdar calls Cuneyt about the phone. Cuneyt blows him off. Serdar realizes someone is tailing him.
Ceylin enlists Osman’s help. She wants Osman to put a bug in Yekta’s ear. Tell him we know something he’s done and we’re closing in. Say just enough to scare him into action.
Osman sets up a meeting with Yekta. It’s important they speak in person. Osman arrives at Tilmen and tells Yekta he overheard Ceylin talking about bankers and money laundering. She mentioned your name. Yekta blows up. How dare they name me for such a crime! He goes on and on and even says Ceylin should be committed to a manicomio for a couple of years. Osman’s mission is accomplished. Did you notice the look Osman gave Yekta’s assistant?
Yekta makes a call to Haluk. We need to clean house. Find 10 good machines and send them asap.
Osman gives Ceylin the update and she starts the wheels in motion.
Financial crimes police are staking out Tilmen Law. They see the big boxes being unloaded.
Pars and Derya are getting closer. He tells her a story about his aunt. Eren comes in and informs them of the activity at Tilmen. Notify Ilgaz.
Pars finishes his coffee and turns the cup over in the saucer. Let’s read our fortune. Too bad we don’t hear it. Coffee fortune telling: https://coffeeaffection.com/coffee-fortune-telling/
Eren gives Ilgaz the update. Ceylin and Lacin are there. Ceylin asks Lacin if she is ready. She’s more ready than ever.
Yekta asks Haluk how long it will take to do this job. Haluk says it depends on the amount of paper. He had a job that took four days. And we see that there’s a lot of paper.
Lacin shows up at Tilmen. Security tries to stop her but she makes her way up to Yekta’s office. He’s surprised and dismayed to see her. She must speak with him. He tries to get rid of her. She leaps at him, gives him a huge hug, and begs him to forgive her! She can’t live without him… you mean the world to me…. I don’t know how I can live without you… I’ll talk to Ceylin, I’ve changed my mind. [Scenery chewing at its finest.]
Yekta looks confused at first. Then he gets angry. I’m busy! I have no time for this nonsense! Get out! She continues to beg— I’ll die without you! He screams at her and she faints. He goes to get help.
Ilgaz lets the others know that Lacin is on her mission. Eren has doubts she can get the job done without Yekta suspecting. She’s so sensitive. Pars has more faith. He says Lacin has been scorned and we’re told to fear those who’ve been scorned. He thinks she’ll get the job done. The AG is on his way to the station, too.
Lacin wakes. Yekta gives her water and sends her home with Ozgur. She sends a message to Ceylin that she’s on her way to the station. A nice long victory hug from Ilcey.
Lacin tells Ozgur she needs water but there’s none in the car. That’s a lie. He stops for water and while he’s in the store, she takes the car.
Ilcey arrive at the station and so does the AG. Lacin comes and she’s got the goods. The AG congratulates everyone. He’s sending this to Financial Crimes right away. Lacin hugs Ceylin—you’ve saved us all.
Ceylin breaks down. Pars calls it tears of joy. Ceylin asks Ilgaz to go out with her for fresh air. They leave hand in hand. Derya wipes a tear and says it’s a happy ending. Pars agrees and asks, should we leave before Ridvan comes for us? Let me treat you to a meal. She says he’s starting to figure her out.
Yekta’s been shredding paper all night long. But it’s not enough. Financial Crimes shows up at Tilmen and our guys are there to witness the raid.
A cop finds a hidden room. There’s a safe and Yekta is ordered to open it. There’s lots of cash and… a cell phone!
People are taken from the building and put into police cars. Then the big prize—Yekta is brought out in handcuffs. Yekta sneers at our group. He looks focused on Ceylin.
Boxes of evidence is brought to the station. The news is out. Reporters swarm Yekta. Why were you arrested? Will you comment? He tries to hide his face.
Yekta is brought to a small interrogation room. We hear Pars as we see Yekta slowly fall apart in the room. Yekta was taken to an office in Financial Crimes. They made him wait. He’ll be held for 36 hours. They can question him for 36 hours or they can make him wait 36.5 hours and question him in the last 30 mins. They examined the documents. They want something to corner him. This isn’t a simple crime.
We see Yekta being questioned. We don’t hear what’s being said. Finally, he’s taken from the room. He’s a sweaty mess. [Lol, did they let him use the bathroom? This is great.]
Our guys are thrilled. Pars says the DAs did not cut Yekta any slack. One after another they came in, then they sent him to night court. He will be arrested there.
Ceylin is anxious to get Serdar’s phone. The phone arrives. The IT guys will look at it. The group disperses. Pars tells Derya don’t forget about coffee. Eren wiggles his eyebrows at him. Pars warns, don’t do that, Eren.
Serdar recorded some of what happened between Zafer and Cinar in the warehouse. It’s difficult for Ceylin. Eren says he also sent messages: “the gun went off and Zafer is hurt.” “kill him.” “it’s done, it’s over. I shot him twice.” “Well done.” “I don’t work for free.”
Ceylin does her usual. That bastard killed my father for money! I’ll kill him! I’ll bash his skull in! She storms out of the room.
Eren says let me catch him and I will destroy him myself. Pars replies, justice will prevail. First, we need to release Cinar. No need to keep him in detention.
Ilgaz brings Ceylin water. She cries, he killed my father for money! He got the order from the man I once called a friend, a person who lied and believed his own lies. Pars and Eren appear. Pars doesn’t want to waste any time, he’s requesting an arrest warrant for Serdar.
Serdar gets in a car. I guess the unconscious guy in the passenger seat is the cop that was tailing him. Eren Komiser calls the guy’s phone. There’s a transmission over the radio—arrest warrant issued for Serdar. He throws the phone out and crushes it when he drives away.
One week later. Cinar is released from prison. The whole family is there to pick him up. Ilgaz says, no matter what’s happened, and after being apart so long, we’re once again together as a family. Let’s enjoy that and go home. Let’s sit together. We’re all tired, not just me. Let’s hear each other out and find a way to heal. We’ll figure it out. Ilgaz takes his brother’s bag and walks to the car and stays there.
Sweet reunion with Defne. Nice words with Aunt Makbule, Metin and Merdan. Merdan tells Cinar that Ilgaz needs time. You paid for it in prison, but your brother is here. Everything he held dear crumbled before him. He remained strong, though, he didn’t give up. He’s tired. He got divorced.
Ceylin is at a grave. She says, we paid dearly for our anger and our ambition. For an unrequited love. She’s talking to Engin! I lost my sister and father. You lost your life. Was it worth it? Whenever I think of you, my heart breaks. I was angry. I thought I was angry at you, but that wasn’t the case. I was angry at myself. I trusted you blindly… because I brought you into my life and let you hurt me.
Ceylin goes on… when you’re angry, you always look for someone to blame. I always asked myself if I’d ever be able to forgive you. I was asking the wrong question. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to forgive myself. I don’t know how to rid myself of this sin. I’m not sure because… I’m tired of thinking about it. if I ever stop being mad at myself, I might be able to forgive you, too.
Ceylin brings flowers to her father’s grave. She brings flowers to Inci and gets weepy. [Inci was born on Aug 18! Happy Birthday, Inci!]
Metin is working in the garden when Ilgaz and Defne come outside. Ilgaz’s van is ready to go. He tells Defne that he won’t be gone for long. It could be a week or 10 days. She wonders why she can’t go with him and makes a case for going along. Ilgaz tells Defne his mind needs a vacation. They can go together another time.
The whole family gathers to see Ilgaz off. He entrusts the house and all its occupants to Defne—don’t let them argue. Ilgaz looks at everyone and asks, why all this drama? Merdan reminds him it is tradition to throw water after someone who leaves on a trip. Flow like the water and safely return. LOL there’s a puff of black smoke that comes from the tail pipe when ilgaz starts the van. Auntie throws the water.
Cinar tells Metin he’s going out for some fresh air. We see he’s meeting up with Parla, who has come in a taxi. Before he climbs in he asks if her mother knows and if she’s skipping school. Nope, it’s Sunday, she replies. I told her I’d be out with friends. Cinar asks about the other girls. Parla says they will pick them up.
Ilgaz is driving along. [Song is Uzunlar again.] He stops to check a car at the side of the road with its hood up. Hello! Do you need help? Is there a problem? Surprise! It’s a smiling Ceylin. She says, there is, but I don’t know if you can help me with it. He asks, who told you my itinerary and my route? You wanted someone to stop you, she replies, so you told our closest mutual friend where you were headed. Eren.
Ceylin asks, were you going on vacation without me? I get that you’d want to go after what’s happened. But it’s not right for you to leave while I’m heartbroken. Don’t you agree? I get it now. I can’t do it without you. Don’t you get it?
Ilgaz says he gets it, but he wanted her to have some time to realize it. I figured such a smart girl would find her way. Besides, I didn’t know you wanted to go on vacation. You didn’t ask, she replies. If you want to vacation with me, you’ll have to pay the price, he answers. She says she’ll pay. Roadside kisses. Ilcey is back!
Cut to seaside wedding setting. Lots of guests. Family and friends are there. Pars is looking at Derya. Eren comments, you said I’d get married next but you’re going to beat me to it. Pars says he has nothing to say to that. Eren replies, I hope God sends us each a good woman. Inshallah, Eren, Pars responds, we’re not there yet so keep your distance.
Pars makes his way over to Derya. He tells her, I hope you catch the bouquet.
And here comes Ilcey. The happy couple walk to the wedding table to lots of applause and shouts of congratulations. Hmm… Gul does not look happy. Pars and Eren are the witnesses.
The officiant starts. Do you Ceylin Erguvan, daughter of Zafer and Gul, take Ilgaz Kaya as your husband? A resounding “Evet!” from Ceylin. Applause. Do you, ilgaz Kaya, son of Metin and Kiymet, take Ceylin Erguvan as your wife? Another strong, “Evet!” More applause. [Why does Gul look so unhappy? Is it because Zafer isn’t there or is it something else?] The witnesses shout their “Evet” in unison. And Ilcey are husband and wife once more.
Lots of applause. Defne throws flower petals. May your love and respect know no bounds. Ameen. They actually played the Turkish song, Dinle Beni Bi'. The book is signed, and Ceylin gets the marriage certificate. There are shouts for Ceylin to step on Ilgaz’s foot. He moves it, and she says she won’t do it. [she doesn’t have to, she’s already the boss in this relationship.] Gul is still looking sour.
Ceylin tells Ilgaz, this is the last one. We won’t divorce again. Never, Ilgaz replies, I promise to only leave you when I draw my last breath. [Uh, oh. I never like hearing this in a dizi.] Kiss.
Oh no… we go 6 months into the future again. Ceylin with the bloody knife. Eren arresting her. She’s photographed, examined and samples are taken. Flash of Ilcey’s second wedding. Eren asks her to write her confession. She’s done quickly. Eren tells Umut to check with her.
Eren reads the confession and asks, what is this? He tells Umut to put it in the file. Eren sits across from her. I hope you’ll tell me. How did you do it? She doesn’t answer. He asks again. She casts her eyes downward. No answer. He asks, how did you kill Ilgaz Kaya?
There’s a bunch of flashbacks, flash forwards, and faces of the characters. It ends on Ilgaz.
And we are out!

This was the end of the first Turkish season.

Thanks so much, dondi. You got an episode full of events and a real shocker of an ending.
I think the scene you mentioned about Yekta taking the phone out of his desk drawer was a cut. I only remember seeing Serdar's phone after the cops found the secret room with the safe.
It was nice to see that Osman did NOT betray Ceylin. They sort of made us wonder, given that his car crapped out on him right before Yekta offers him a fancy car, a new house, and vacations in luxury hotels.
You could definitely save some keystrokes by pasting in "Yekta goes on and on" at regular intervals. I loved how Lacin played him; she's been overdue for a win.
I get a lot of pleasure out of Reza teasing Pars about Derya. The two of them have this back and forth down to a science.
Another cut and paste opportunity: "Gul does not look happy."
I'm still a bit confused about why Engin was so intent on making Cinar look guilty. Was it that making Cinar look like he'd killed Zafer would strengthen the case against him for killing Inci? He's a habitual killer?
So, what we see from now on will be Season 2? I doubt it will be proven that Ceylin killed Ilgaz, but why did they have to kill him anyway? I think I'm ready for a TN happy ending. All those flash forwards with the bloody knife were, I suppose, meant to make us think Ceylin had killed Yekta or Serdar.
Again, thanks for another terrific recap, dondi!
Forgot to post the quote for Turkish ep #34: "When a chord breaks, the harmony ceases forever." - Yahya Kemal Beyatlı
Thanks, novelera.
It was nice that Osman did the right thing. I know he cheated on Aylin, but I don’t take him to be a villain.
“You could definitely save some keystrokes by pasting in "Yekta goes on and on" I could also save some keystrokes on Ceylin and Gul.
“I'm still a bit confused about why Engin was so intent on making Cinar look guilty” I think I remember an enraged Cinar threatening to kill Engin. He was on the hitlist. Maybe Lucio remembers.
There are 29 episodes in season 2. It finished in May 2023. They are supposed to film a third season but I’m not sure when that will start and air. I’m trying hard to avoid anything that’s a spoiler for the second season.
We have a “6 month” gap to fill in season 2 to find out if Ilgaz really is dead and if Ceylin really is a killer. I don’t want to believe he is dead. How can they have a third season without Ilgaz? Sema Ergenekon has written happy and unhappy endings. This dizi seems prime for an unhappy one. I hope I’m wrong.
Recap will be up tonight or early tomorrow.
Thank you, dondi356.
Yekta was finally brought down, but the whole money laundering business wasn't very intriguing.
Cuneyt's info about Serdar's confession lifted a weight off Ceylin's shoulders. She started to act more relaxed with Ilgaz. Unfortunately she needed Cuneyt's confirmation to believe that Serdar was the killer and not Cinar.
Why did Engin order to kill Zafer? It was before he was a suspect. Maybe he was already collecting his blackmail list, so killing Zafer was a good addition. Such low regard for life. He and Serdar too.
Thanks for the song links. I started looking for Toygar Işıklı, and he composed soundtracks for Kara Sevda, Kara Para Aşk, Fatmagul and Cesur ve Güzel (Amor valiente.)
Well, the first season was pretty good. Tough job to keep it up in season two.
Thanks, Lucio.
Ceylin does seem calmer, but IMHO, she's never going to change. And we know something big is waiting for us 6 months down the road. The wolf changes its coat but not its nature.
Yes, Toygar Işıklı has written scores and songs for some of our favorite dizis. I have some of his work on my "dizi playlist".
ITA, season one was good. Looking foward to season two. If they keep up with the two hour eps and edits we will be done quickly.
Recap coming shortly.
Quote for Turkish ep #35: "Yes, a man can lie by being silent." - Stefan Zweig
I will assume we are in the present time and Ilcey recently got remarried.
Ilgaz meets Eren at the morgue. Ilgaz asks, who is it? The ME removes the sheet from the body and Ilgaz is stunned. Eren looks very sad. We don’t see who it is but looks like it’s a death that will have a big impact on our main characters.
We go back 24 hours. Eren and team arrive at a potential crime scene. There was an anonymous tip about a body in a well at an unoccupied house. The well is opened, and it looks empty.
Ilgaz wakes Ceylin with music, flowers, a gift, and kisses. Did the birthday girl decide to sleep in today? You’re not going to work? Not a bad idea, she replies. The gift is a beautiful gold necklace. Ceylin wants to have a dinner party to commemorate Inci and celebrate her birthday.
İyi ki doğdun, Ilgaz says, ve beni buldun. (Glad you were born and found me.) I think you found me, she replies. He won’t argue. Kisses lead to birthday sex.
Song: Kördüğüm/Deadlock – Hümeyra

Pars is driving with Derya. He gets the invite to Ceylin’s dinner. He tells Derya, we’re going. She says she wasn’t invited. But I was, he replies, and if I was invited, you are too. They are our friends. If we are happy, they will be happy too. She asks, so we are going to announce that we are together? He thinks it’s a great idea. But we just started dating, she answers. He says they should do it… he adds—if you don’t mind. He kisses her hand. She doesn’t mind.
Pars stops to buy baklava. He asks do you want walnut or pistachio? [make it the non-lethal kind]. Derya laughs. Are we really bringing baklava to a birthday party? Pars says it’s to celebrate Ilgaz’s promotion to AG. Derya reminds him it’s not official yet. Did the confirmation letter arrive? Pars says he’ll get one with walnuts. [I’d take pistachio] Does anyone know what happened to AG Melih?
A diver is sent down the well. A body is found.
Ceylin is looking for scissors. She goes to the kitchen drawer and takes a knife. [possible murder weapon?] She cuts a tag off something. Ilgaz takes the knife from her and puts it on a shelf. Where will we put this stuff, he says, it’s been days and we haven’t settled in.
They are back at his place. I’m the one who wanted to move here, she says. But it wasn’t because you wanted to, he replies. You felt sad when you thought Defne would be alone with my aunt, so you sacrificed yourself. I’m not so kind, she answers, rent price went up and I wanted to settle here. It’s a beautiful house, where we will live happily ever after. [don’t believe it] Then she complains of doing housework.
Ilgaz finds she’s been looking at his case files. He’s pissed. This file has something to do with Yekta’s case. She says, you bring the file home and ask me not to read it? I’m nervous. We put that man behind bars, and he was there for a week! He was released! Not sure but it sounded like Yekta confessed and then he snitched on others involved.
Ilcey strike a deal. They won’t meddle in each other’s work, they won’t bring work home, and won’t talk about work. Even if it is about Yekta, he asks. Yes. Oh my, a close up on the knife when they leave.
Yekta is trying to land an important client. Unfortunately, the man has a migraine. Yekta drives him where he needs to go. "Yekta goes on and on" about why the man should dump his current lawyer and hire him, while the poor man suffers in the backseat.
Pars puts the baklava out on his desk. The box is very sticky. Ridvan enters, he’s all smiles. Pars tells him to take the baklava to Ilgaz. Once his promotion is official, we’ll have some. Pars complains about the sticky box again. Ridvan just stands there and smiles at Pars. Pars tells him again. Ridvan places a letter on top of the baklava.
What’s that, Pars asks. Ridvan says a new AG has been appointed. Pars starts to read, “Dear Pars Seçkin, you have been appointed as a member of the Office of the Attorney General of Istanbul, in accordance with Article 904, dated September18, 2022, and the Counsel of Judges and Prosecutors.” Pars is dumbstruck.
Boxes of files are delivered to Ceylin’s office. Well… they are delivered to the sidewalk in front of her office. Aylin says they are the files for the supermarket case they asked for. [is Aylin working for Ceylin now?] Ceylin is upset, she only has 3 days to prepare.
Aylin tells Ceylin she should go upstairs. Mehmetcan’s mother is there waiting for her.
Ilgaz arrives at the crime scene and Eren fills him in. There’s a crowd of onlookers and reporters ask questions. No comment. Eren says there’s more than one body in the well. Ilgaz wants to keep the people as far away as possible. A live person is found in the well. Ilgaz spots a drone overhead. Umut leaves to take care of that.
Mehmetcan’s mother cries to Ceylin, it’s been 10 days! There’s no trace of him, no one has seen him! Where is my son?! I hoped his awful father kidnapped him, then at least I’d know he was alive. Ceylin says she questioned his father again and again. He was at work at the time. The mother sobs, bring me my son’s body.
The person who is alive is a boy about 12 – 14 years old.
Metin drops Cinar off at the police station. Metin gives his son advice. Don’t meddle, don’t offend anyone. Cinar goes in and asks to see Eren. He’s told Eren is at a crime scene. Cinar says came to ask about the cafeteria job. Eren Komiser knew I was coming. Do I start right away? Do I need to talk to someone? The cop asks his name. Oh…. Chief Metin’s son. Follow me.
Pars tells Derya he was surprised. He thought Ilgaz would be appointed. He senses Derya is not happy about his promotion. She says she’s just shocked. Of course, I’m proud of you, she adds, but I don’t know how this is going to work from now on. Pars is slow on the uptake. She explains, we’re not DAs anymore. Now you’re my boss. Should I start packing my things? Of course not, Pars immediately says.
Derya continues, it’s impossible. We work in the same courthouse. Pars says it’s possible. We can keep our love away from our work. Hay Allah, he notes, I bought my own celebratory baklava. He tells Derya to take one. She asks if he told Neva yet. He hasn’t had the chance to call. I’m still surprised myself. Derya asks if Pars will wait to surprise her when she returns from vacation. No, he says, I’ll call her now. Derya excuses herself. Pars picks up his phone but decides not to call Neva.
The boy is taken to the hospital. More bodies are pulled from the well. The ME says they have started to decompose. Ilgaz orders protection for the boy in the hospital. And tell everyone not to talk about the case if they’re not working it. Whoever did this thinks the boy is dead.
Too many people are gawking at the crime scene. Ilgaz wants this wrapped up asap. A body is moved and a knife falls. It’s bagged and handed to Ilgaz.
Ceylin leaves the office to do more work on her pending case. Aylin gets a text from someone named Cetin Sarioglu, “The day broke when you opened your eyes… life is meaningful when your lips blossom into a smile… I’m glad we breathe the same air. Good morning.”
Yekta’s sales pitch has failed. The man says, you’ve lost your dignity and you’re coveting someone else’s earnings. It’s a shame. Once you lose your honor, there’s no getting it back. I’m sticking with my lawyer. The man hands him 200 TL to cover the car ride.
No more bodies were found at the crime scene. Ilgaz thinks this might have been a family. Two men, two women and a child who’s still alive. Search missing persons for reports on a family. There are no fingerprints because the bodies are in bad shape. Ilgaz reiterates, no leaks. Examine the area thoroughly. It couldn’t have been easy to bring all these people here. Someone must have seen or heard something. Find out where the tip came from. Take the bodies to the morgue and guard them.
Ceylin pays a visit to the opposing lawyer, Zeliha. She complains about the ton of files Zeliha had sent. There’s not enough time to read them all. So instead of working, you came to chat, Zeliha snarks. Ceylin came to say she’s asking for an extension. There’s a young man working in the office who is listening in.
Zeliha mentions there will be a new judge on the case. She’s not bothered by anything because her client is innocent. Ceylin says that Zeliha’s client sold expired products. Chicken, beef, sausages. People fed their families. They got food poisoning. She should be grateful no one died.
Zeliha answers that the people should have been more careful to check the dates. She always does. Ceylin doesn’t want the extension anymore. She won’t eat, sleep or drink. She vows, I’ll read every file and beat you at the hearing. Ceylin leaves. Zeliha tells the young man to leave.
Osman has a talk with Parla. She realizes he can’t afford the tuition at her preferred school. Ceylin calls her and tells her to come to the office and bring Merve and Tugce. We have work to do.
That young man from Zeliha’s office seems interested in Ceylin.
Yekta leaves with others people in a van. He’s disgusted by it. I think this is work related.
Pars checks out his new office and opens a window. He thinks it still smells of AG Melih’s cologne. Pars says he feels like Melih is about to walk in. We have to change a few things, right Rivdan? Yes, Ridvan replies, you have new subordinates, and they can handle it, savcım… I mean başsavcım. Pars says yes, but it will take some time to get used to it, won’t it, Ridvan?
You can stop wondering, Pars tells him, wherever I go, you’re coming with me. [Look at how pleased and proud Ridvan is…lol] Pars tells Ridvan to get the paintings from his former office. We need to make the place our own.
Ceylin calls Ilgaz. He hasn’t been returning her calls. She refers to him as the new AG and says, everyone must be congratulating you. He tells her he just arrived at the courthouse and hasn’t heard anything. She thinks the confirmation letter is there waiting for him. Has Ozge called you, she asks. She’s so excited to be the wife of the AG. We’ll celebrate two things tonight.
Ilgaz passes the AG’s office and sees Pars and Ridvan fixing up. He tells Ceylin he will call her back. Ilgaz knocks on the door. Tebrikler, başsavcım. Ilgaz is very gracious despite his disappointment. They shake hands and Pars thanks him. He offers Ilgaz the baklava. Ilgaz knows Pars will be a good AG. Thank you, Pars replies, I hope I don’t disappoint you.
Ilgaz is about to leave when he remembers that he reports to Pars now. He tells the new AG about the case at the well.
Cinar leaves the station and some guy who’s hanging out front (is he with the press?) notices him. He asks, what happened to you? Cinar has cut his hand on some glass. The guy gives him a bandage.
Ceylin is speaking with Ilgaz again. She’s arriving at the station. Ilgaz has told her that Pars got the promotion. I guess she’s just disappointed but she sounds a teensy bit begrudging to me.
Ceylin is snooping around on Eren’s desk and he catches her. You found a mass grave, she asks. He’s ticked. If any other lawyer did that, they’d be banned from this office and I’d press charges, he tells her. She asks, have you caught the killer? Eren says he can’t talk—orders of DA Ilgaz. If it’s Ilgaz’s case I don’t want to hear, she replies, we have a deal. We will not meddle in each other’s business. Eren smirks, we’ll see how long it lasts.
Ceylin asks him if he’s bought her a birthday present yet. He hasn’t had the time. Tell me what you need, he says. I’ll tell you, she quickly replies. Put some pressure on the head of Missing Persons. That’s the best gift. He’s sick of seeing me.
Eren thinks and asks, you haven’t had any leads on Mehmetcan yet? Ceylin jumps up. Did you find a child there? Wait, slow down, Eren cautions, you’re going to get me in trouble. Eren and Ceylin get calls at the same time. The boy is Mehmetcan! Eren is reluctant to share any other info but Ceylin says the mother is her client and she’s been looking for him for 10 days. Eren says he will tell her in the car, but it’s confidential information.
Ilgaz informs Pars that the child has been identified and the parents are coming. He’s going to the hospital.
Yekta looks like he might vomit in the van. They are at a stop, and he gets out to speak with another passenger. He asks, excuse me, director, can you review my matter? The man looks at paperwork (it says lien list) and finds Yekta’s name at the bottom. They do things in alphabetical order. Yekta argues, but if you start the other way, I’d be first. He turns the guy’s paper upside down in his hand. Then there’s a commotion. One of the van passengers is chased out of the building by an irate man .
Ceylin meets Mehmetcan’s mother, Mujde, at the hospital. Eren is with them. Ilgaz shows up and asks why Ceylin is there. It’s the child she’s been looking for. Ilgaz tells Ceylin she can’t work a case that he is overseeing. Ceylin says it’s a coincidence.
Ilgaz tells Eren to speak with Mujde and tell her she shouldn’t contact anyone for her son’s sake. He tells Ceylin she did her job and now she should walk away. Ceylin wants to take this conversation outside the ICU.
Ceylin gives Ilgaz the details. Three years ago, my friend, Mujde, contacted me. Her face had been disfigured. Mehmetcan was 10. I took them to a shelter, then I helped her with a divorce. Mehmetcan is a brilliant child. He’s good at his studies and at soccer. He’s a diabetic. So when Mujde told me he was missing, I looked for him everywhere. I can’t just walk away. Why is his life in danger, she asks, what is his connection to the other bodies? I need answers. If someone needs to walk away, it’s you.
Ilgaz says he can appreciate all of that. You’ve done all you can up to this point, but you can’t protect her anymore. This is our job. It’s a big case and that child is our only living witness. I was the DA assigned. The police and I have been charged with his protection. I’m not transferring the case. She insists he will.
Who am I talking to now, Ilgaz asks. If you are standing in front of me as my wife, then I’m sorry, I won’t recuse myself. His life was entrusted to me. It is my responsibility. But if you are here as a lawyer, don’t use that tone and tell me what to do.
Ceylin delivers a low blow. Are you upset because Pars was promoted instead of you? Are you using this case to heal that wound? Ilgaz says no. I started this case and I’m going to see it through. And when you get angry, you don’t think twice about offending everyone. Don’t do it. He walks away.
Ilgaz touches base with Eren. The mother knows nothing. What about Missing Persons, Ilgaz asks. They don’t have any leads, Eren replies, but I still requested their file. He adds, I also asked about a missing family. A similar case was reported two years ago. But it’s completely unrelated to this.
Eren continues, they found the boy just in time. There are signs of assault all over his body. Ilgaz asks if Eren warned the mother. Yes, he told her the boy would be shot in the head. He said it that way to drive the point home. Three officers have been assigned for protection. Ilgaz says let’s go to the morgue. Then he needs to stop at the store. Eren says he has to shop for Ceylin’s present, too.
Aylin calls Ceylin. The girls are at the office waiting for her. Ceylin says to put her on speaker. She tells them Aylin will give them files. Go through them quickly but carefully. They don’t understand and neither does Aylin. The supermarket files, Ceylin says, give them each two files. They need to be done by tonight.
Tugce asks, what are we looking for? Give us a hint. Ceylin replies, look for anything about beef, poultry, dairy… note the delivery and sale dates. Highlight anything you think is important. Got it? Good. You’ll be working with me as soon as school lets out. End call. Aylin distributes the files and goes to make tea.
Ceylin buys a flower bouquet and goes to the new AG’s office. He’s on the phone with the governor. She tells him, we’re not in the same class anymore. Now you speak to governors, district directors. I imagine you are following protocol in your role as AG. Allah aşkina, Pars replies, I’m still shocked. She asks, why? This is a good thing. Enjoy it. Congratulations.
Pars offers her some baklava, but it’s finished. She says she wasn’t going to eat it anyway… she doesn’t like it. He realizes something is up. She says, I came to ask you for a huge favor. [I think we know what she’s going to ask. It’s trouble for Pars right out of the gate.]
The ME gives an update. They are not done cleaning the bodies, it will be hard to get fingerprints. We are running DNA tests. Ilgaz asks if they have an age range, even if it is an estimate. He has one but he doesn’t want Ilgaz to be ticked when it changes. One of the men appears to be 35 -40. The other man is younger, likely mid 20s. One woman is mid 20s and the other could be about 30.
Ilgaz tells Eren, let’s review Missing Persons cases. If this isn’t a family, that changes everything. The ME says even if they are not in the system, they can check if the victims are related to one another. Ilgaz asks how soon can you tell the cause of death? Maybe tomorrow.
One of the women had a watch. It’s engraved: With love, for my granddaughter, Melis Yilmaz. Eren says no one with that name has been reported missing. And since half the country has that last name, it’s going to be difficult. Ilgaz says to narrow the search to Istanbul and that age range. They talk about investigating the watch. Ilgaz says this name cannot be leaked to the press.
Derya is an excellent DA, Ceylin tells Pars, she’s brave and ambitious. She can handle this case. Is Ilgaz the only DA in this courthouse? Call Ilgaz and tell him you took him off the case. Give it to Derya. You’re the AG, Ilgaz can’t say anything.
You are like a flood, Pars replies, you’re ruining everything again and dragging me down with you. Stop. Ceylin says she doesn’t want to lose her client. I came to you first.
Pars says that Ilgaz was working when he went to the crime scene. It’s his investigation. Ceylin argues. He asks, are we in elementary school? Are we children? You didn’t know he was a DA when you married him? When there’s a conflict, you need to yield. You know the law, better than I do. Ceylin admits it but thinks it’s very unfair.
Pars says that child is their only witness. If he’s killed, you would die of regret. We need to be careful. That’s exactly why I’m here, Ceylin exclaims. You know me, you know I don’t miss anything. Pars knows and says, four bodies were found in the middle of Istanbul. Today’s my first day on the job and I’m already being put to the test. Now you are asking me to cut off my right hand. I can’t do it. Ilgaz is thorough and motivated. If I take the case from him and give it to Derya, it will cause a problem.
Ceylin realizes she’s been defeated. She gets up. Pars asks her what she wants for her birthday. Give me a clue, he says. Don’t come late, she replies.
The van finally arrives at Yekta’s job. The director jokes, maybe we should wait until tomorrow, the shift is over. Ha, ha. It’s a small restaurant. Yekta asks to see the cash register. There’s not much in it. A worker says the boss isn’t in and they just opened the afternoon shift. What should we take then, Yekta asks, your tables and chairs?
The director tells Yekta that’s pointless. I hate to teach you the ropes but sit with the cashier and collect the earnings. Yekta wants the workers to call the boss.
Ceylin’s birthday dinner. They sing. She makes her wish and blows out the candles. She has some words to say. I want you to know that I’m grateful for everything and everyone who’s made me the person I am today. [no comment] I’m grateful for those who are here and those who are gone. She looks up, I know that you’re watching me. I love you so much. My Inci, may I always stay with the man you gave me after you left. Hugs all around. Pars and Derya arrive.
Yekta is dropped off at a closed storefront. He unlocks the doors with a key and heads to the basement. There’s a tiny space. He puts his bag down and takes off his jacket. Is this where he’s living? Lololol.
Ceylin asks her sister why Gul didn’t come. You know what she’s like, Aylin replies. Aylin asks, did you invite Osman or did he just show up? Ceylin says she called him and asks her sis if she’s upset. She says she doesn’t care.
Metin and Cinar return home. Metin calls out to the group, afiyet olsun. Ceylin invites them to come. Metin bids them good night. They go into the house.
Pars asks Lacin if she’s heard from Yekta. Lacin says the last time they saw him was at the courthouse. That was the first time I saw him after the incident. His hair and beard were unkempt. He looked 10 years older. He brought this on himself. I moved to a different house and changed my number so he can’t find me.
We see Aylin looking at her phone and smiling. Osman takes notice.
Pars says an order was issued to seize Yekta’s assets. The earnings he made from the crime were also transferred. His clients took what was left. His accountant delivered the final blow. Now no one will look at him because he’s known as an informant. I’d normally empathize with people in this situation, but I can’t help but laugh. Eren finds it funny too. Merdan says he heard Yekta is taking foreclosure cases.
Ceylin asks, don’t you get chills and wonder about him? Will he just accept this? No. He hates us. What if he wants revenge and comes after us? Pars thinks that Yekta is ruined and won’t be able to rise from the ashes. [I’m on Ceylin’s side for this one]
Ilgaz agrees with Pars and says they shouldn’t be talking about him. Today is Ceylin’s day. It’s a new chapter in her life. There’s a toast. Ceylin drinks water. She tells Ilgaz she has an upset stomach…or maybe she’s still processing what happened in the morning.
Yekta plays some music. [I know this but can’t remember the name. Anyone?] He neatly hangs his jacket and tie. There’s a tiffin carrier on the table and a note: Yekta Bey, afiyet olsun. Looks like there’s soup, vegetables. Hard to tell exactly, there’s barely any light in the room. He can’t eat.
A young woman comes in. She notes he hasn’t touched his food. He says he already ate. She brings him what he asked for. The address? No, she replies and hands over what she has. She says her father asks that he shut the light while sleeping. Yekta says it feels like a dungeon when the light is off. Am I a vampire? I need some light. The girl shoots back, okay, then you can pay the bill. She takes the food and leaves. Yekta shuts the light.
The girls find Cinar. They wonder why he doesn’t call them anymore. Why are you avoiding us? It’s not that, he replies, I’ve been busy. Merve is ticked. I got you a job at the café. Why didn’t you show up? Cinar says he found a job at the police station. Tugce says, you’re not a cop. What are you doing there? He makes tea in the cafeteria.
Tugce can’t believe he wants to work there. Merve got him a nicer job. She says coffee is the future, Who drinks tea nowadays? [lol] Cinar is angry. Why the interrogation? Do I bother you? Mind your own business! Isn’t there cake downstairs? Leave! He leaves. Tugce thinks he’s at the station so he can find Serdar. [yeah, what about Serdar?]
The party is over. Everyone starts to leave. Eren says after he takes Tugce home, he will go back to the station. Aylin offers to have Tugce over for the night and take them to school the next morning. Pars offers Derya a ride. She takes it but makes it clear she’s going to her home.
Ceylin is cleaning up in the kitchen. She looks bothered. Ilgaz asks, are you mad? Yes, she replies, I’m mad at DA Ilgaz, but I’m not mad at you. He says dissociative identity disorder is dangerous. They kiss.
Eren wakes Ilgaz with a call. One of the bodies has been identified. You need to get here immediately. Ceylin wakes up and reminds Ilgaz he was drinking. She will drive him. He will take a taxi. Apparently she won that round. She drives Ilgaz to the morgue. And she’s staying put until he’s done.
This is where we started the episode. The body is uncovered and Ilgaz receives a horrific shock.

Ilgaz comes outside where Ceylin is waiting. She immediately knows something is very wrong. He leans on the car. He can’t speak or look at Ceylin. He’s in total shock. She asks, is it someone we know? He can’t answer. She’s getting scared. He barely gets the name out—Neva. Ilcey hold on to each other. [I did not expect they would kill Neva!]
Eren and Ilgaz are in Eren’s car on the street, guessing at Pars’ place. This can’t be happening, Eren says, how are we going to tell him? Ilgaz shakes his head, there’s no easy way, Eren. Eren notes, it’s his beloved sister. He has no mother or father. May God help him.
Pars leaves his house and notices Eren’s car. The guys get out and walk over. Pars asks, is this what happens when you become the AG? By your faces, I can tell you have bad news. I’m going to meet with the governor, so fill me in.
Ilgaz starts, it’s about yesterday’s case. We identified the bodies. And well… one of the victims is a woman. Who is she, Pars asks, what is her name? Ilgaz can’t get it out. He suggests they sit down. Pars says he’s pressed for time because he’s meeting the governor. Who is it? Someone important? Pars becomes concerned.
Ilgaz is distraught. Pars… it’s Neva. Neva? What are you talking about, Pars asks, Neva is out of town. She’s vacationing with that idiot Cuneyt. Don’t be ridiculous. Eren says Neva returned to Istanbul nine days ago. Cuneyt got into a fight with someone and hurt them. Neva left him. Cuneyt is in custody now. We’re also looking into those involved in the fight to find out if payback was a factor.
Pars can’t process this. He says, if Neva returned, she would have called to tell me. If she was back for days, she would have called. It’s ridiculous. This didn’t happen. It can’t be Neva. You’re wrong.
Ceylin checks in with Ilgaz by phone. Did you tell him? We see that guy from Zeliha’s office watching Ceylin from his car. Ilgaz tells her they are at the morgue now. I don’t think he fully understands yet. Ceylin totally gets what Pars is going through. She says, stay with him. Don’t leave him for a second. Ceylin gets in the car and leaves and that creepy young guy follows.
Ceylin enters her mom’s house. Ceylin has come to pick up Aylin. Gul is making tons of dolma. Aylin is ready. She’s all dressed up and has garish red lipstick. Ceylin notes this It’s a new dress and Parla’s lipstick. Ceylin says she’ll drop her off at the office. Then she’s going to the courthouse to check on Pars. Remember Judge Neva? She was found dead. There’s that creepy young guy in the rearview mirror.
This is awful. A long walk down the hallway and Pars has to lean on the wall. He whimpers, God knows how many times I walked this hallway, more than 100, but is there a chance, Ilgaz… that they are wrong? No matter how small, is there a chance we are wrong? Eren komiser?
Ilgaz places his hand on Pars’ shoulder. Pars takes a few more steps and stops again before entering the room. He sees a bit of hair from under the sheet. Her hair is brown, he says with desperate hope, this is not Neva. Ilgaz... Eren… he cries… this isn’t Neva. I can’t… I can’t look. He places his hand over his mouth and sobs.
The ME says her hair was dyed and uncovers the body. Pars turns to look. It’s Neva.
And we are out.
Wow! Thanks so much, dondi. You cleared up some things I didn't understand. What a shocker of an episode!
Eren must be a fantastic boss. He teases the guys about being too weak to open the well lid and they laugh despite the awful thing going on. You can see the camaraderie.
Who wakes up on the day of their birthday and decides then to have a party? In my circle of friends two thirds would have other plans.
Got a kick out of "non-lethal baklava". I guess they just wrote out the former AG without any explanation. He didn't appear old enough for retirement.
There were at least three significant closeups of knives. While watching, I wrote on a piece of scrap paper: Knives! Knives! Knives!
I noticed there's a change in Ilgaz's hair. In Season 1 it was sleek and straight back from his forehead. Didn't look like even a strong wind would ruffle it. Now it's showing some slight curliness and is a bit longer. Much more attractive. On purpose for his role as loving husband?
Ceylin just can't do boundaries. She is the sabueso (bloodhound), cutting corners to get results.
"Yekta goes on and on." Hahaha! Speaking of Yekta, I can't even say how much I'm enjoying his downfall, although I would have preferred prison. As far as his being in that van, I thought it was because his car had been seized as part of the asset seizure, so that's how he gets around now. We again see his extreme fussiness about cleanliness.
If Ceylin has hired Aylin as some sort of office manager, that's a good thing. The woman needs to get away from her toxic mother and feel a sense of purpose in her life. She definitely looks more attractive and seems to have a boyfriend.
It was so sweet when Pars tells Ridvan he's ride or die. I've never seen a TN or dizi character switch so much from one I actively disliked to one I'm happy to see. And, in this case, sorry to see suffer.
Yes, why is that boy following Ceylin? Has the opposing attorney in the food poisoning case asked him to do so? Or is he a sick stalker?
I thought it was a good idea to put the girls to work on Ceylin's case. And, whatever happened to their legal problems over the money laundering?
Thanks for letting me know that Lacin isn't living in that mansion anymore. I thought she would have gotten it, but then it was probably seized. I would have expected her to try to find the former chauffeur, but I guess not.
Such a big bombshell toward the end. Cuneyt harmed someone in a fight and is now imprisoned. And Neva came to Istanbul without telling Pars and her hair was dyed. Wow.
"Vuelve a mí", (not official), premieres on October 9 .
(according to an article in peopleenespanol as mentioned by Laura Flores -who will play William Levy's mother- in a media post).
Thanks, novelera.
Eren is a great guy. Likely because his wife is writing the script each week. I wonder if she will write love scenes for him.
“Who wakes up on the day of their birthday and decides then to have a party?” “Ceylin just can't do boundaries.” She’s a patient in search of a diagnosis.
Second season theme – knives!
“I noticed there's a change in Ilgaz's hair.” I like it, too.
Yekta’s transportation was hard to sort out. I’m sure you’re right about his cars being seized. Seems he rented a car to try to get that new client. The first van was related his lien collecting employment. I believe the one that dropped him off at night was a shared taxi, a dolmuş.
Was Neva expendable because Pars has Derya now?
It was the best and worst 24 hours of Pars' life.
Since the first season started with a murder, they had up the ante with a second season bombshell murder. I wonder if Cinar will somehow get blamed for this one, too. ;)
Thank you, dondi356.
This episode starts on Ceylin's birthday. The series also started on Ceylin's 30th birthday. So it's been one year since Inci died and about 8 months since they learned that Serdar was Zafer's killer. The "6 months later" must have been since the wedding.
It was pretty bad when Ceylin went to Pars to have Ilgaz removed from the case. What was she thinking? Glad Pars had enough sense and refused.
There has been no mention of Serdar.
Yekta plays Bach - Cello Suite on his phone. Curious what he is planning. Nothing good for sure.
Thanks for the original music links.
Thanks, Lucio, for remembering that both seasons started on Ceylin’s birthday and reminding me that’s Bach I heard.
I can’t believe that Ceylin hasn’t mentioned Serdar yet. Maybe tonight.
I fear Yekta will come back stronger than ever.
