Yekta tells Yavuz not to respond. Pars and Metin leave the room. When did Yekta show up, Pars asks, is he the only lawyer in Istanbul? Metin thinks he’s planning an ambush. The moment he sees Ceylin is involved, he inserts himself. [ah, Metin, ah… that ambush is for you!] Pars asks if Ceylin knows Yekta is Yavuz’s lawyer.

Goksu brings a ballistics report. Pars goes to Ilcey. The gun found at Zafer’s burial site, doesn’t match any of the bullets in his body. The gun was never fired. We have no murder weapon, Ilgaz says. Maybe Zafer bought that gun. Ceylin laments, my father kidnapped a man [make that two men], bought a gun and I never see him again, like Inci.

Footage will be reviewed. Maybe they will search Yavuz’s house. Ultimately, they might have to release Yavuz.

Footage is reviewed showing Yavuz going to the hospital. He could have had time to kill Zafer. A timeline is proposed. He killed Zafer after he saved himself. He went home to clean up. After that, he went to the hospital.

Metin remembers Yavuz was at the hospital the same time Cinar was. Pars says that’s enough to issue a warrant to search Yavuz’s house. Eren tells Ilcey that Metin has stressed this case as a priority. He’s doing it specially for you [and really for Cinar and himself]

Merdan comes home to find Cinar in sad state. The kid cries guilty tears over Zafer. Merdan tells Cinar to pull himself together or they will all go down. Your father set the world on fire for you. If you keep crying like a baby, you’ll make a mistake. You’ll go to jail for the rest of your life. Merdan loses patience, yells and yanks Cinar out of his seat.

Yavuz’s house is searched. A gun is found next to his bed, but another was hidden in a wardrobe. It’s sent to ballistics.

Ilgaz helps Ceylin get ready for bed. This woman can’t even dress herself. She wants Ilgaz to stay with her. She’s weepy, he comforts her. Now they make it seem Zafer was the world’s best father. I was under the impression that things were not so rosy growing up in the Erguvan family. Whatever.

Yavuz is brought to holding. He complains. Metin is lurking and listening. Yavuz proclaims his innocence. He says Eren could help him prove it. Eren says it’s too late.

Yavuz says he has a hidden camera at home and that’s why officers couldn’t find it. If you get the recordings from the day Zafer was killed, it will prove my innocence. But don’t let anyone see the recordings, they are embarrassing. Someone is trying to frame me. Yavuz gives Eren the exact location of everything.

Metin bolts. He leaves his phone on his desk and leaves the station to catch a taxi. Eren comes to see Metin. He’s not there, so he calls and finds that Metin’s phone is on the desk.

Metin enters Yavuz’s house and looks for the evidence. Eren shows up and I think he senses someone is in the house. He draws his gun. Metin has to hide. Eren looks around. He goes to the wall with the camera.

No escape for Metin so he bashes Eren over the head from behind. Eren gets a shot off before he passes out and hits Metin in the arm as he’s leaving. Ilgaz tries calling Eren and Metin but there’s no answer.

Cops show up at Yavuz’s. Eren is ok but he’s ticked the bad guy got away. Eren’s bullet can’t be found which means he hit the guy.

Metin is at home tending to his wound.

Ceylin wakes up in the middle of the night and goes to her mother’s room. She checks her breathing and becomes hysterical. She calls for Ilgaz---my mother is dead! Everyone comes running including Gul.

 

secrets #50 part 2

Merdan tells Metin he found the man who gave the passport and gun to Zafer. He’s going to say Yavuz took the gun to kill Zafer and was scared. Merdan thinks Metin wants revenge on Yavuz. Not so. Metin says if anyone is to pay, it’s the real killer. He says that Yavuz didn’t only ruin him and Zafer but he took money as well. He was a dirty cop.

Metin says his biggest concern is his children. Cinar is important but so are Ilgaz and Ceylin. If the truth comes out, they will turn on each other. I can’t let that happen.
Next morning, Ilgaz tells Ceylin the bullets match the gun from Yavuz’s house. Dirt on the gun matched that in the woods. Pars is going to arrest him.

Metin is cleaning his wound. He finishes just before Eren enters his office. Metin asks if he’s okay and Eren seems surprised when Metin checks the spot where he was hit. Eren says the recordings were missing from Yavuz’s house. He asks, what if he is innocent? It makes no sense. He asked us to take the recordings.

Eren says he shot the guy. He thinks he hit him in the leg… or maybe the arm. They couldn’t find any blood. Metin leaves to take Yavuz. Eren throws his napkin in the trash and spots the bloody bandages in the can. Uh, oh.

Yavuz pleads with Metin. I’m innocent, you know I couldn’t kill anyone! Metin replies, sure, you didn’t kill anyone, but you did destroy their honor, dignity and joy for life. Isnt that murder? You destroyed their hopes and futures.

Before Ilcey leave, Ceylin makes her family download a locator app on each of their phones.
Ilgaz tells Ceylin that Yekta is Yavuz’s lawyer.

Tensions in the courthouse hallway. Ceylin parks herself directly across from Yavuz and gives him the death stare. Recognize me? I’m Ceylin the daughter of the man you murdered. Take a good look so you won’t forget me. Ilgaz asks her to calm down. Yekta accuses her of threatening his client. Typical Ceylin.

Someone is following Derya again. Pars calls Derya as he drives. She doesn’t answer. He worries.

Yavuz is taken away in cuffs. He shouts his innocence. It’s a conspiracy!

Cuneyt asks Yekta why he let Yavuz be arrested. Let the people have their show, Yekta replies, at the end I’ll take the stage like a true artist.

Ilgaz thanks his dad for his help in the case. Ceylin gives Metin a very heartfelt thank you. Now I have another father, thank you Metin Baba. She hugs him. Her hand is on his arm and Metin gives a slight wince. Eren notices that and also notices a blood stain on Metin’s jacket.

Yekta watches from a distance and smirks, their last moment of joy. They will soon be enemies. Relationships shattered, worlds destroyed, lost friendships. Sadness and drama. The winner will be me. Always me… Yekta Tilmen.

Ceylin continues to praise Metin. Eren is stunned. He can’t look at anyone. Metin excuses himself. Ilgaz thinks his father looked embarrassed. [It’s guilt—for once, Ilgaz got it wrong.] Eren gives an unenthusiastic answer and excuses himself.

Eren chases after Metin. Can we talk. They keep walking. Eren tells him, your arm is bleeding. Eren brings him to the restroom. He asks, when did this happen? Metin asks him to be direct. I’m asking my boss what happened to his arm, Eren replies. Metin lies. I was in the garden. A nail was sticking out of the wall, I tripped and hit myself. I’ll show you, he shouts. You want proof?

Eren stands silent. Metin continues to rant. Who are you to question me in a bathroom? How dare you! What are you accusing me of? Eren looks very upset and confused. And we see someone was in the bathroom hearing all of this—Neva!

 

secrets #50 part 3

I think Eren is ready to chase after Metin as he leaves the court, but Pars calls him. DA Derya is in danger. Notify the team. Pars says he’s on the way to Derya’s house.

Derya is cornered by a couple of cars. I think this is Ogul’s family A man (maybe this is his father?) goes to her and signals to roll down her window. He’s unhappy about the accusation. He wants her to write a better one. He is demeaning. Write like a man, be careful, don’t chip a nail. Derya has been keeping cool, looking straight ahead. Then she turns to him and utters one word—"asla” – never. Let’s not break any hearts, he replies. Stubborness is a bad habit. It’s harmful. We wouldn’t want your car to become a coffin—like it did for your husband! Think of your mother and siblings. Don’t let your departure cause them suffering.

Neva heads straight to Pars but he’s not in his office. Ridvan says she can leave a message. She doesn’t. Neva calls Pars. He’s about to take it when he hears gunshots. He drives towards the sound.

Metin walks down the street, recalling the last words Ceylin said thanking him and also Eren’s questioning. He’s anguished. He mindlessly walks into the path of a car.

Pars arrives on the scene and pulls out a gun. He cautiously approaches. There’s a wounded man sitting on the curb. Derya’s holding a gun and checking another man who is lying in the street. Pars asks if she’s ok. Yes, she says, the father got away.

Ilgaz brings Ceylin tea. Are you ok, he asks. I have a feeling inside I can’t explain, she says, an indescribable peace. The killer is in jail. Otherwise, I’d be angry and desperate. I feel I can breathe. I owe a huge debt to your father. I have to repay him. It’s nice to have people to support you, it’s not familiar to me.

Ceylin wants to go home. He wants to take her. She says no. She’s in control. She wants to walk. He’s insisting to take her. She insists she needs to walk.

Ilgaz sends Yavuz’s statement to Pars. He rips out the notes he made about “the father of all problems”. He takes another look at the crumpled note and gets uneasy. He grabs his coat and leaves.

Ceylin calls. Aylin answers. Ceylin is alarmed, where’s mom? Is she home? She didn’t answer her phone. Aylin says she’s with guests who came to give condolences. She scolds Aylin that she hasn’t downloaded the location app. Aylin tells her to calm down. Parla’s phone is too old. Ceylin says she will get her a new phone. Gul says this isn’t normal for Ceylin. Aylin thinks Ceylin isn’t well.

Ilgaz goes to Yekta’s office. Lacin sees him pull up in his car. Cuneyt tells Yekta that Ilgaz is here. Yekta smiles—did I win the lottery? The secret will come out earlier than expected. Let him in.

Yekta greets Ilgaz. I’m surprised to see you here… but I’m proud. It’s a pleasure, welcome. Ilgaz wastes no time—how did Engin know that Yavuz killed Zafer? He didn’t, Yekta replies, it’s not possible because Yavuz didn’t kill Zafer. My client is innocent. Innocent? Ilgaz says Yavuz has blood on his hands and sold his professional honor for money. He’s corrupt.

Being greedy does not make a murderer, Yekta replies, he did not kill Zafer. Ilgaz notes that Yekta is always so sure of himself, but this is too much. Yekta says, there’s meaning to my words. Ilgaz replies, then you must know who did it. [he’s walking right into that one.]

Yekta answers, I hope you find out, savcı. You’re an intelligent man with keen instincts. That will lead you to the real killer. Ilgaz takes this to mean Yekta doesn’t have proof. Yekta says, I can’t tell you who the killer is, but I can prove Yavuz didn’t do it. If you want me to, come with me.

 

secrets #50 part 4

Eren and his team have arrived at the scene of Derya’s incident. Eren is barking orders to everyone. He’s impatient.

Pars asks Derya if she is okay. He tells her she needs to make a statement. She’s ready to go. Pars asks her if she’d like to go to a hospital. She says she’s fine, the ones who need the hospital are going.

Pars calls out to Eren but he doesn’t respond. Pars yells at him. Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed? You look so angry. Pars asks Eren if he’s okay, did something happen?

Ceylin goes to the cemetery. The flower woman rushes to her. These flowers will make you feel better. Ceylin buys flowers.

Metin is at his wife’s grave (looks like she was 49 when she died in 2016). Forgive me for not coming, he says, soon I’ll be by your side. He thinks. No, I want to be by your side, but I can’t. I used to pray a lot. I prayed I’d be buried next to you. We could reunite here. But I can’t contaminate your resting place with my sins. I’m so ashamed… of what I’ve become. He breaks down.

The AG is with Derya and Pars. He tells her security protocols have been activated. They will find Izzet and his 7 children. He wants Derya to reconsider protection. She says there is no need. She says the indictment is ready. The AG leaves.

Pars thinks she should wait on the accusation. Wait until Izzet is caught. When he’s behind bars, you’ll be safe, he says. And be a coward, Derya replies, I will not wait. I’ll file immediately and not change a word. I don’t want to hear you are scared. Pars admires her attitude, but he says sometimes we should be scared. She hits send.

Neva is waiting for Pars outside Derya’s office. They talk about Derya’s incident. Neva can hardly believe she shot those guys. Pars says, in this business there’s no difference between men and women. She defended herself like a lion. Neva tells Pars to pause his admiration of Derya for a moment. She has something important to tell him. They head to his office.

Ceylin is at Zafer’s grave. She talks to him. Puts flowers on his grave. You can discuss if you want.

Ilgaz and Yekta drive. Isn’t this too much a coincidence, Ilgaz asks. Life is a series of coincidences, Yekta replies. Then how is it there’s a video from Engin, Ilgaz asks. He also said though you won’t find it, the truth will come to you. And after that, a citizen informs us of a situation in the forest. Then everything is on a fast track, as if someone was manipulating things. What do you think, Ilgaz asks.

Not everything adds up in life like it does in stories, movies and soaps, Yekta replies. Life is inconsistent. There are always unanswered questions. We call it coincidence, fate, and life. Secrets shield answers, Ilgaz says, they are obstacles. Clandestine plans and personal gain.

I know you love this business, Ilgaz says, you picked up where your uncle left off. It’s revenge of the Tilmens. Yekta is amused. According to your theory, I’m the man who trapped Yavuz and the man defending him. Maybe life is inconsistent, Ilgaz replies. I can’t see the forest for the trees, but when I do, I’ll catch the wolf.

Pars emerges from his office and is ready to take off somewhere. Neva chases him. I’m in a rush, he tells her. I gave you the information, she says, now I’d like you to explain. Pars explains about Eren going to Yavuz’s house and someone entered before he did, etc. It’s relevant because Metin accused Yavuz of being dirty. Pars says he has to find out if the person who entered the house before Eren was Metin. Are you happy now, Your Honor?

Ceylin arrives home and Lacin is standing outside. She’s there to give her condolences. They go inside and Lacin gives condolences to Gul. Gul asks if they caught the killer. Ceylin nods. She assures her mom he’s going away for a long time. Lacin brought a gift and Gul gives her a hug.

 

secrets #50 part 5

I liked Zafer, Yekta says. It’s a shame, he died young. I wish I could have known him better. He was a lot like you, you’re both decent, honest men. Hard working and stubborn. Girls fall for guys who remind them of their father. Ilgaz says nothing.

Yekta remembers the last time he saw Zafer. It was the day before his death. He was upset and threw Ceylin out of the house. That’s when he thought Cinar was the killer. Cinar was released from prison and Zafer was very upset. He was in my office and very angry. He broke the cup of tea he was holding. I was scared he would hurt the poor kid. But it happened to him instead. That’s life… we don’t choose who lives and who goes to heaven.

Yekta continues, I think he dropped Yavuz off the morning of the day he came to my office. The day after Cinar was released. You wouldn’t kidnap a man for all that time and just let him go. He didn’t get anything in return.

Ilgaz stops the car on the side of the road. What are you insinuating, he asks. Be clear. What’s your game? Yekta grins, just memories. I added a few comments. [Because Yekta loves the sound of his own voice.] Why are you so angry, Yekta asks. Ilgaz continues driving.

Ilgaz and Yekta come to the place where Zafer held Yavuz. Ilgaz asks, why are we here? Yekta gives a timeline. Zafer gets here at 8a and releases Yavuz before leaving at 9. Suppose he goes home. Do you know where he lives? Ilgaz says nothing. Yekta says, you’ve been upset about your wife’s father, it makes sense you miss details. Ilgaz asks Yekta to focus and says he’s losing his patience. Yekta says lets get in the car and see how long it takes to get there.

I’m guessing Metin is at his lawyer, Rahmi. He asks, what if I wanted to put my house in Defne’s name? What’s the process? Rahmi wonders why he wants to do this now. Are you sick? We can find a doctor. Metin says his job is dangerous and he’s getting older. Rahmi says if it makes him feel better, write a letter and I’ll hide it. Metin will do that tomorrow and he asks Rahmi not to let Ilgaz know.

Ceylin makes halva. Aylin wants to take over. Ceylin shoos her off. I want to do something for Dad, too. I couldn’t do anything for Inci. I want to feel pain and cry. Or be angry.

Lacin comes into the kitchen. She came in for water. She has a question for Ceylin. Does Yekta have anything to do with your father’s death? No, Ceylin replies, what could he have to do with it? The murderer is in jail. Lacin says she saw Ilgaz at Yekta’s building today. She can’t help but suspect Yekta.

Ceylin thinks Ilgaz must have been there for something else. He wouldn’t see Yekta. You were probably confused. Lacin says she didn’t speak to Ilgaz. She was leaving and he was arriving. Lacin says maybe I was wrong. Ceylin admits it affected her to hear Yekta was the killer’s attorney.

Pars sees Eren outside the station and stops him. Why are you so upset? I’m busy, Eren replies. Pars tells him to come up with a more creative excuse. Like he doesn’t feel well and is going to the doctor. Eren says he’s really busy. Pars says, drop it. We have something urgent to do. Eren tries to beg off but Pars snaps at him.

Eren remains tense. Pars asks him to sit. He doesn’t. Pars says, tell me what I need to know. Eren replies it’s nothing important. Pars asks, do we know who took the hard drive? No. Any suspects? No. Pars replies, really? He yells—Eren! Pars closes the office door and says, your friendship and loyalty are admirable, but don’t keep things from me. Pars presses, I’ll ask again, was Metin injured by a nail?

 

secrets #50 part 6

Eren says he doesn’t know. He swears he would tell Pars if he did. All I know is he has a wound on his arm. I found bandages in his office. Too many for an injury from a nail. Also, before I even showed him, he knew where the bruise on my head was. That’s it, now you know.

Pars asks, would you have told me if I didn’t confront you? Eren says he would have investigated on his own first. I wanted to be sure of what I’d say and then I would have told you. Pars sighs and says he would do the same. Both men are troubled.

Let’s say we’re right, Pars says, why would Metin do something like that? Eren explains that Metin was working for Yavuz when Yavuz was messing with Zafer. Pars replies, you think he took part in the crime and is covering it up? We have to find out. Eren asks how Pars found out about this. You were talking in the ladies’ room, Pars answers, you should have checked if there was anyone in there. Neva overheard. Thankfully it was no one else.

Ilgaz and Yekta arrive at Yavuz’s house. Yekta asks, what do you think? A long drive. Two hours. If we include traffic, Yavuz would have arrived home around 1130. Where was Zafer at that time? He might have left the house, Ilgaz replies. He pawned the gold, found a car. and drove to the cemetery. Yavuz was admitted to the hospital around 3p.

Yekta continues, so I ask, could he have found Zafer, killed him, and buried him in the forest in three hours? His condition required hospitalization. Does it seem possible? Mr. DA, Yavuz didn’t kill Zafer. He might have had help, Ilgaz says. That needs proof, Yekta replies. Which is why, when the time is right, I’ll have the evidence to prove he was home during that time.

What kind of proof, Ilgaz asks. He called the pharmacy from his house phone, Yekta says, because his cell was taken by Zafer. Yavuz left a message on the pharmacy answering machine. Later an employee delivered the medicine here. We have a witness. This is worth thinking about. Yekta says he will find his way home and walks away.

Ceylin goes out on the street and hands out the halva she made. Aylin says this isn’t Ceylin. She’s not well. Gul says leave her alone, this is Ceylin’s way of dealing with the pain.

Pars is looking out the window when he sees Metin arriving. He calls Eren over. Did Metin change his clothes? Yes. Keep this between us, Pars says, nobody else should know. We should investigate.

Ilgaz arrives. He tells Pars and Eren they have the wrong man. Pars replies, how can you say this? The case is closed. We found the murder weapon at his home. And the dirt came from the forest. Ilgaz says that means the gun was planted. Somebody else is the murderer. Ilgaz explains his theory. And adds, why would a police chief keep the murder weapon in his house? He’d know how to get rid of it. The murderer is someone else.

And we are out.

Excellent recap, as always, dondi! You cleared up some things that baffled me. Loved "make that two men" about Zafer's penchant for kidnapping people. And also Amen about things not being so rosy at Erduvan household.

They have sort of explained what happened to Zafer. Yavuz having framed him for smuggling contraband, probably what Yavuz had done himself, twisted Zafer's soul up. They've alluded to his having been a different man before he went to prison. Can't remember the sentence, but it was a good part of Ceylin's childhood IIRC. So he becomes a bitter man. And Gul egged him on about Cinar's having been released (can't remember the reason - to await trial - he's the son of the police chief?). This was before anyone knew Engin was Inci's killer.

I'm a little confused (what else is new?). I didn't see Metin take anything from Yavuz's house, but there was a mention later of the disk for Yavuz's camera being missing. I also don't remember seeing him plant the weapon that killed Zafer while he was there.

I think Metin left the front door open after, I think, he picked the lock. I think that's why Eren came in suspicious.

I don't think Metin is going to survive this dizi. That putting the house in Defne's name and the conversation with his dead wife at the graveyard sure sounded like a man who doesn't expect to be around for grandchildren. Early on they said that he didn't think much of Cinar because his shiftiness reminded him of Merdan. And then he decided to go whole hog to make it up to Cinar.

I'm enjoying the dance of Derya and Pars. He keeps wanting to protect her because that's the kind of man he is. But she keeps showing she doesn't need it. Although she's a bit foolhardy not to accept police protection.

In the dictionary next to the word sociopath there's a picture of Yekta.

Does Ilgaz also know about Yekta's fake law license? I can't remember if Ceylin ever told him. SOMEONE needs to out the guy.

I think it's kind of sweet that Gul and Lacin have made peace with each other. They are both grieving mothers. Hating Lacin won't bring Inci back, and Engin certainly paid for what he did. I believe that's why he arranged to be killed. He did love Inci and would have been willing to get away with it. But he wasn't willing to spend those years in prison.

The truth is beginning to emerge. Two hour episodes are exhausting but make events unfold fast.

Other happenings: Pars takes Eren to his favorite menswear shop - looked like a commercial - to get a suit and a tie to have Tugce enrolled in school. Eren and Tugce go to school and get her enrolled. Later Ozlem shows up with the police at Eren's house and drags Tugce home.

novelera, thanks for reviewing Zafer's history. Metin went into the basement and retrieved the hard drive. And you could be right about Metin. This is a dizi, sooner or later, someone likely to die.

I'm enjoying Derya and Pars more than I'm enjoying Ilcey right now.

Yekta's fake diploma went away somehow. The case was dropped. Maybe he paid someone off.

Lucio, ITA, 2 hours are exhausting. Thanks for mentioning the other happenings. I haven't had much time lately to check back to the Turkish eps.

If they are going to give us 2 hour episodes, why don't they give them to us uncut and with the original soundtrack.

Secrets #51 part 1

Ilgaz says Yavuz was telling the truth. His only link to Zafer was the kidnapping. Pars counters, wouldn’t someone who was kidnapped and risked being exposed, have a reason to get revenge? Why would he even release Yavuz, Ilgaz replies. We don’t know if he did, Pars says, maybe he escaped.

Ilgaz insists it doesn’t add up. Whatever is going on was skillfully woven together, but it’s collapsing. We believed Yavuz was the killer. None of us questioned it. Ilgaz thinks of Ceylin. She found peace, imagine if she discovered it was a mistake. She’s not well. We need to find out who is framing Yavuz and why. Please keep this from Ceylin.

Pars says ok. Suppose that in the emotions at the time, we made a mistake and locked up the wrong man. How did you come to these deductions? Your reasoning is very specific.

Ilgaz turns to Eren. There’s a chance the killer took the hard drive. Pars thinks the person who took the drive might have been trying to cover up. Eren adds, maybe there was something in the video he didn’t want seen. Pars says they shouldn’t jump to conclusions about the killer taking the drive.

Killer or thief, Ilgaz says, let’s call my father. Eren looks at Pars. Pars tells Ilgaz, even though the person who died is your FIL, the case is mine. I prefer to keep this quiet. The fewer people who know, the better. Ilgaz answers, Metin conducted the investigation. There are details he knows. Pars says those details can be shared with us. Let’s figure it out first.

Osman shows up to see Parla. Aylin doesn’t want to let him in. She hasn’t forgiven him. He says his daughter needs him. She gives him 10 minutes. Parla is sleeping and Osman wants to wait. Aylin tells him to wait outside. An argument starts. Gul sends Ceylin to quiet them. The shouting continues. Gul comes. Ceylin threatens Osman with a restraining order.

Ceylin feels dizzy and faints. Call an ambulance.

Pars gets word that Yekta presented evidence that Yavuz was at home at the time of the murder. The judge hasn’t examined it yet but in the morning, Yavuz will give his statement. We’ll have to investigate all over again, he says to Eren.

Gul calls Ilgaz. Ceylin is in the hospital. He tells Pars and Eren and quickly leaves.

Pars says, we’re in so deep, how do we get out? Eren asks, how do we tell Ilgaz about Metin’s injury? Pars answers, Ilgaz says the murderer entered the house. Tell me, what does that mean? His father is the killer. Oh, God, please don’t say that, Eren replies. Pars responds, Allah aşkına, we have to say it. We can’t hide it. It’s his father. He has a right to know.

Pars continues, what if the wound is really from a nail? What do you think would happen? We’d be falsely accusing Ilgaz’s father. I think Metin wanted to exact his own punishment on Yavuz. He wanted revenge for the past. And the situation presented itself to accuse him of Zafer’s murder. Eren says that makes sense. Neither man can believe Metin is a killer.

Derya calls Pars. Izzet was caught and he’s being brought to the courthouse. She’s taking his statement. She asks Pars if he’s coming. Of course he’s coming. No one points a gun at a DA, he tells her, much less you. Pars tells Eren he will be back tonight. We have to resolve this case without Ilgaz involving anyone else.

Yekta tells Cuneyt they are coming to the end of the adventure film. And the star always has an exciting role to play. Suspense…excitement…you never know the fates of the characters. But it always ends the same way. The bad guys are defeated, the truth is revealed, and Yekta Tilmen always wins. The end. He tells Cuneyt, pick up Yavuz from jail tomorrow and give him my best. I’ll break my diet and treat myself to a good meal.

Cuneyt and Neva spot each other. They are both done for the day. Neva steps aside for a moment to speak with Pars. She asks for an update on what she overheard. Pars says he’ll tell her when he’s sure. Forget what you heard, he says, I’ll do my job. He looks in Cuneyt’s direction. Don’t keep him waiting. He’s curious about our discussion.

Cuneyt asks Neva if everything is alright. Yes, it’s fine. She doesn’t say more. Are you asking me to dinner, she says. Yes, he is.

Vigil at the hospital for Ceylin. The doctor says she’s fine. They gave her a sedative. The doc says she’s physically fine. She didn’t hit her head. He thinks it’s psychological. She lost someone close. Serious trauma has taken a toll on her body. We will keep her under observation.

Ilgaz asks if they can see her. He says one person for 5 minutes. Ilgaz tells Gul to go. She tells Ilgaz he should go. Ilgaz holds Ceylin’s hand and says, I wish I could bring back all you lost.

Merdan asks Metin if he’s okay. Metin answers with a sarcastic yes. Merdan says that Cinar isn’t okay. He’s sleeping all day. What are we going to do? Metin grumbles, it’s better than being awake and secretly up to no good.

Pars is at the station eating his dinner. Eren tells him that Metin was at the crime scene in the forest. He was present when they exhumed the body and investigated. Then he came back to Forensics. Goksu said he was there when the gun was examined. Couldn’t you wait until I finished eating, Pars replies. Eren asks for orders. Should I examine the footage from Forensics? Pars replies, let’s see what we find.

Ilgaz tells the family Ceylin is doing okay. She’s sleeping. He tells them they can go, he will stay. Gul wants to stay. Aylin says she will stay. Ilgaz tells them to go home and rest. He will stay. Aylin says to call if anything. Aylin blames Osman for making Ceylin sick. She warns, if anything happens to her, you’re a dead man. [Uh, oh.]

Pars and Eren review footage. It shows nothing unusual. Eren tells the tech to get tea for everyone. That’s when Eren says he gave the wrong time frame. They will review the real footage while the tech is gone.

Eren gets a call from Ilgaz. Pars says not to answer. Eren says Ilgaz will keep calling. Ok, Pars replies, then make up something. Ilgaz asks for an update and Eren says there’s nothing yet. He tells Ilgaz there’s an issue with Ozlem and Tugce and paternity. Eren asks about Ceylin. Ilgaz says she’s okay. He’s staying at the hospital. Keep me informed.

Metin looks at family pics. He looks at one of his wife. He writes a letter to his children: My dear children, I always tried to live my life without hurting others and tried to be a fair, honest man and a good father to all my children. I wanted to leave behind the best thing I could for you—an honorable life. The honor of your father’s name. I don’t know if I succeeded. It’s nobody’s fault.

Voice over continues as Metin enters Defne’s room and sits by her bed. He gently touches her.

I gave a lot of thought to my decision. Don’t try to blame yourselves. I love you all very much. I tried to protect and care for you. At times, I made mistakes. Forgive me. I no longer have the strength to bear the weight I carry on my shoulders. I don’t feel I have the right to continue breathing. I entrust you to each other. Defne, my angel daughter, I’m sorry. Please forgive me. End letter. Merdan appears at Defne’s door and watches.

Eren and Pars review the Forensics footage. They see Metin there with two others. Eren is ready to say they were wrong about Metin. Pars says to wait. The others leave Metin alone. His back is to the camera, but it’s obvious he’s doing something. Allah kahretsin…

Eren is devastated. Why, Jefe? You were my mentor. I Iearned everything from you. Who made you carry this out? I don’t understand. Pars gives Eren a comforting pat. This isn’t easy for him either.

Ilgaz sildes into Ceylin’s bed and holds her. In the morning, Ilgaz wakes up alone. Ceylin is gone. A nurse says maybe they took her for tests.

Ilgaz goes down the hall and finds her in front of the nursery. Ceylin says they’re beautiful. A baby is the only thing that connects you to life. It can make a person start over. They radically change your life. A person producing another soul. It’s weird. I don’t know if I’m making sense. They grow so fast. They learn to be people. They give you purpose. Nothing could be a better reason for living. Two babies were born while I was standing here. She smiles.

She continues, while you were sleeping I felt like walking. I heard a sound. Crying. The sound of a baby, as if it were crying out to me. And I found myself here. I lost a lot in life, Ilgaz. There’s a huge void inside of me. And even though I feel it will never be filled, I think a baby might. A baby might heal me. And I only want to experience that with you. That is, if you want it too.

He smiles at her, let me ask so we do this right. If you have second thoughts and change your mind, I’ll fall from the top of a skyscraper… she interrupts, do you want to have a baby? Of course I do, he replies. Kisses.

Metin comes to Merdan. Yavuz was released. Yekta proved he was home. How? It doesn’t matter, Metin says, they proved it. I told you we should have found someone to take the fall, Merdan replies, but you did your own thing. It’s done, Metin snaps back, what do we do now? Merdan says they’ll figure something out. Metin thinks they need to send Cinar abroad. Let’s smuggle him out. He tells Merdan to set it up fast.

Metin wakes Cinar. Do you have a passport picture? No. Metin says to get a picture taken. Let’s go. Cinar asks what’s happening. Do it because I tell you, Metin replies.
Metin takes out a paper that says “title deed’ and Defne’s ID card. [According to the card, she was born in 2014.]

Makbule enters the room. She’s holding a blood-stained sheet. She asks, did you hurt yourself? He says he’s not hurt, he scraped his arm at work. Defne comes in and Metin grabs the sheet. He scolds Makbule for making a big deal.

Makbule sees the deed and the ID. What are you doing with those? Metin snaps at her—stay out of it and leave me alone! You’re always asking. You act like this is your house. Stay out of my private life! Stop gossiping! Metin storms off. Defne gives Makbule a hug.

Cinar goes out. We see Ozgur following him.

Ceylin is filling out an evaluation. She says there’s so many questions. Ilgaz tells her to answer the questions, don’t try to get out of it. The doc says she has to answer the questions before her psych evaluation.

Ilgaz excuses himself to speak with the doctor alone. He asks if Ceylin is alright. The doc says she’s physically fine. We will know more after the psychiatrist examines her. That’s why the evaluation is important. Ilgaz mentiones the deaths of her father and sister and that the family is dealing with a lot of problems all at once. The doc says when the exams are complete, they will determine a course of treatment.

Ceylin is anxious to leave the hospital. Since they made this big decision, she wants to start preparing. What do you think about getting a new house? A house that’s just ours. He agrees.

Pars tells Eren he couldn’t stop thinking all night. Crazy questions back and forth. Why would Metin want revenge for things in the past and risk a murder charge? He switched a gun out and planted it at a man’s house. He jeopardized years of service and his reputation. I tell myself I’m wrong, but I reach the same conclusion again. Eren says he went throught the same thing and came to the same dead end. I don’t know how this could have happened. What reason could he have for killing Zafer?

Merdan and a henchie have, Halil, the man who delivered “Zafer’s letter”. They are in the woods. Merdan blindfolds him. Don’t be scared, Merdan says. I’d give my life for you, Merdan Baba, just ask, Halil replies. Because of Halil’s sacrifice, Merdan promises to take care of what I assume is Halil’s family. The henchie shoots Halil in the arm.

Pars and Eren go over details of the case. Eren says he can’t even breathe. Pars says let’s hope we are wrong.

Ilgaz calls Eren. Pars says to put it on speaker. He’s at the cemetery and wants to know exactly where Zafer’s car was found. Near Inci’s grave. Ilgaz says he only came to look, maybe he will find a guard or something. I’ll let you know. Pars and Eren realize it’s only a matter of time before Ilgaz finds out. They need to act fast.

Ilgaz finds the flower woman. He has a question. Are you always here? Yes, I work every day, she replies, I feel like a resident here. Ilgaz has more questions, maybe she heard or saw something. He mentions the abandoned car. Yes, the woman recalls, the police asked about that. I saw the car. He shows the woman a picture of Zafer. Do you know him?

Her eyes widen—is that Zafer? The car was his? Do you know him, Ilgaz asks. No, I don’t, she replies, but I know he was missing from the posters. I called the number because I was interested in the reward, but no one called back. Then you saw him, Ilgaz asks. Yes, she says, I saw him, I was here when they came. Ilgaz wants to know who came. He was here with a young man. She can’t remember much but she approached them to buy flowers. They quickly walked off together. She points the way.

The woman continues, the young man left first. Then the man ran after him. He boarded the bus the young man was on. Are you sure they left on the bus, Ilgaz asks. She’s sure.

Ilgaz looks around. The bus comes by and he notes the route. 151 Haciosman Metro Kilyos. He leaves.

Merdan drops off Halil. He reminds him to stick to the script. He needs to see Dr. Melahat.

Ceylin is with the psychiatrist. She says Ceylin hasn’t gotten over Inci’s death. When it comes to your father’s death, you opened yourself up to it. That’s much healthier. A sign you’re slowly returning to your life and accepting what happened. The doc says she will prescribe meds. Ceylin asks about being pregnant while on the medication. The doc says they’re low dose. If you get pregnant, come back.

Eren rushes to see Pars. A man showed up at the hospital with a gsw in the arm. He says he’s been bleeding for two days and couldn’t stop it.

Makbule comes to see Neva. Neva asks if she’s alright. Did something happen? Makbule says no, I’ve come to talk about something important. I don’t know who else to talk to. Makbule says Cinar’s been out of it the past few days and Metin’s bed was covered in blood. He took the children’s documents, and I asked him about it. He scolded me and shouted. He was very upset.

Neva is sorry to hear this. Makbule hands her an envelope “To my children”. She found it in Metin’s room. Maybe I shouldn’t have taken it, but I have to find out what’s going on.

Cinar gets his passport photo. Ozgur check in with Yekta. Yekta says it could be a passport and asks Ozgur to keep following and find out. Yekta is pleased that Yavuz’s release has caused the Kayas problems. They are scrambling to cover their sins. Yekta mentions Merdan. Yekta says he won’t permit this to happen.

Ilgaz goes to the bus company to look for recordings from that day.

Neva tells Makbule she will keep the letter and think about what to do. She will ask Pars and call Makbule later. Makbule asks if she will open the letter. Neva says it would be an invasion of privacy. Makbule is very worried.

Ceylin is discharged. Gul wants to go to the station to thank Metin. Ceylin says she has something else to do. Gul worries about Ceylin going off by herself. Aylin takes Ceylin’s side. They have their apps on the phone. It will be alright. They say goodbye.

Ceylin talks to an RE about a 3-bedroom house.

Gul goes to the station.

Neva looks for Pars. Ridvan says he’s at the station.

Osman goes to Tilmen Law. He asks for Yekta’s help. Aylin wants a divorce. He laughs and says he will find someone to handle it. Osman says, Ceylin is Aylin’s lawyer. Now Yekta is interested. Osman says he doesn’t want a divorce, he will do whatever it takes. He doesn't want to leave his daughter. Yekta says, no one can destroy the home of a man who doesn’t want it destroyed. It would be my pleasure to be your lawyer. This is war.

Eren and Pars are with Halil at the hospital. Pars reviews the story—you killed him and buried the body, but tell me why. Halil replies, is confessing a crime, too? I’m telling you it was me. Pars says confessing isn’t a crime, but lying is. Why did you kill Zafer?

Halil says, we served time in the same prison. Since then there’s been hostility between us. Coincidentally, we ran into each other in the cemetery. We got into an argument. He fled and I followed. How did he flee, Eren asks. On foot.

Pars asks then what? Halil complains about pain, and he wants to see Dr. Melahat. She’s in emergency surgery. Pars asks again, why did you kill Zafer? Halil says he took Zafer in his car. They went to an abandoned building. He pulled a gun on me. So I pulled mine and shot him to defend myself. Zafer died. After, I buried him in the forest.

Eren asks how the gun made it to Yavuz. Halil says he planted it. Zafer told stories in prison. During a fight he killed somebody and hid the body. He said if he killed me, no one would find me. I had to kill him. Pars tells Eren to take Halil to the station after the hospital.

Eren thinks Halil’s story is too pat. Like he something he memorized. Pars agrees. He says let’s do this right. Good thing we haven’t told anyone. We would have unnecessarily affected Metin. Eren has a bad feeling about this.

Neva calls Pars. He doesn’t take it.

The doctor treating Halil comes out and tells Pars that the man inside was lying. His wound wasn’t from a few days ago. You should know, it’s recent.

Ilgaz reviews bus footage. He sees Cinar getting on a bus, and then Zafer boards and sits next to Cinar. Ilgaz is stunned. The man asks what he should do with the footage. Ilgaz is in a daze, he walks away without an answer. He replays Yekta’s words about Zafer: I was scared he would do something to the poor kid. Next Ceylin: my father kidnaps a man, buys a gun…. Ilgaz barely makes it to his car.

Metin watches Defne playing and with tears in his eyes, he hails a taxi. Take me to the cemetery.

Ilgaz is at the abandoned building.

The RE agent shows Ceylin the house. The owners live abroad. She loves it.

Cinar comes home to an empty house. He starts packing.

 

secrets #51 part 6

Eren and Pars take Halil to the station. Pars spots Gul. She walks over to them. She recognizes Halil as the man who brought Zafer’s letter. She starts, this man came to my door! Why did you bring that letter? You said Zafer was fine! Eren calls a couple of cops to take Halil away. Gul continues to cry out.

Ilgaz walks through the abandoned building. He sees the spot where Metin set fire to evidence. He remembers Metin taking Cinar to the hospital because his stitches broke. He remembers Cinar avoiding his eyes.

Ilgaz remembers a lot of things. His father shouting and demanding he return his car asap because he had to go to the pharmacy. Merdan saying he totaled Metin’s car. Cinar on the defensive, accusing Ilgaz of being like dad and not trusting. Cinar wanting to go abroad. Metin asking, can’t we protect ourselves? Cinar not wanting to attend Zafer’s funeral. Metin’s look when Ceylin thanked him.

Ilgaz is in shock. Ceylin calls. She’s giddy over their new place. It’s close to our families, too. She talks about decorating the balcony with flowers. Everyone will be so happy. Where are you? I’ll send the location. He’s pained. He can barely choke out an “okay”. Don’t be long, she says, I love you. He drops his phone and then he drops to his knees. He cries and bangs the ground.

Ilgaz calls Metin, who doesn’t answer.

Eren warns Halil about giving an honest statement. I’ll make you talk.

Pars says Metin didn’t show up for work. We can’t locate him and he’s not answering calls. Pars says he can’t ask Halil if Metin hired him or told him what to say. We can’t mess this up. We can’t get out of this hole. Eren wonders if Gul has left. What will we tell her? Eren worries about Gul telling Ceylin.

Pars tells Eren to talk to Gul but be careful. She immediately asks, who was that man? Did Yavuz send him to lie to us? We believed him and waited for Zafer. Gul wants to call Ceylin. Eren tells her to wait, Ceylin can’t know. Gul wants to tell her. She will probably want to come and check. Eren says Ceylin hasn’t had time to mourn. Please don’t call. After Pars takes his statement, we’ll likely send him to prison. I’ll call you.

Gul says ok, but she wants to wait at the station. Eren tries to get her to leave. He and Pars are here. And my husband was murdered, she says sharply, I have every right to see who took him from us. Now do your job. Eren says we care about Ceylin, we don’t want to cause more suffering. I promise to call you if we have anything. Please don’t stay. Gul finally gives in.

Ilgaz cries as he drives.

Pars and Eren go to take Halil’s statement. But Ilgaz arrives and blows right past them. Eren and Pars follow. He bursts through the door to his father’s office. He’s not there. Eren asks, are you okay? It’s clear he is not. Pars closes the door so they can all talk.

The RE agent can’t wait any longer. He has another appointment. We can reschedule. Ceylin wants to make a call before she goes.

Ilgaz has told Eren and Pars what he’s found and thinks so far. It’s devastating. Ceylin calls Ilgaz. She asks, where are you? What should I do? Ilgaz says, do nothing. I’m busy. She asks him to hurry, maybe she can get the agent to stay.

Ceylin tells the agent she will rent the place. He’s surprised she’s doing this without her husband seeing it. She says, call the property owner.

Neva shows up at the station looking for Pars. Umut says he’s in Metin’s office. Neva asks if Metin is with them. Umut says he’s not here or answering his phone.

Ilgaz sniffles, my father and brother are responsible for inflicting pain on the woman I love. I’d rather be dead than live through this tragedy. Pars says this isn’t Ilgaz’s fault. The fact you didn’t hide it is a virtue. It doesn't change anything, Ilgaz replies.

Neva knocks and enters. She has something to show them. She hands it to Ilgaz. Makbule brought this from your house. Ilgaz tears the envelope open. He reads. He’s going to kill himself, Ilgaz says. What? Everyone rushes from the office. Neva asks Pars why Metin would want to kill himself. Not now, Pars replies.

Ilgaz asks the tech to locate Metin’s phone. They locate him near the cemetery. Ilgaz says, he’s going to my mother’s grave. Ilgaz takes his car, Eren and Pars take another.

Derya arrives and sees them speed off. She calls out to Neva. They talk about getting together soon. Derya says came to see Pars about the Pinar Senturk case. Neva thinks she will probably get that case. Derya asks why Neva is at the station. Neva says she came to see Pars. Derya says she saw them leave. Did something happen? Neva doesn’t have any details. Derya says it seemed urgent. I hope they make it in time. Inshallah, Neva replies.

Defne comes home and sees Cinar with his bags packed. Where are you going, she asks. Nowhere, he replies. What about the suitcase? He says he’s going to donate old clothes. Defne looks sad. Cinar says did you think I was going somewhere? Don’t go, she cries. They hug. Cinar says he loves her. Cinar goes and Defne cries after him. Brother, please don’t go!

Yekta is getting spa treatment [lol] Ozgur calls. Cinar has a suitcase and he’s going somewhere. Yekta says he’s trying to get away. Keep following him. Take note of everything.

And we are out.

Osman asking help from Yekta? Yekta has his own agenda. He will not have Osman's best interests in mind. Silly Osman.

Tugce update: she calls Eren from the taxi on her way to Oslem's house. Oslem takes the phone and says she will file a complaint against Eren. Eren hasn't been having a good day, because of you know, and said he will prove paternity and ask for custody. "See you in court!"

Ceylin fainting and later cooing at babies makes me think she's already pregnant. She has devolved to be overemotional, fragile, and dependent. What happened? It's disappointing.
I'd like for Derya and Pars end up together.
Poor Ilgaz, his family is ruining his life. It looks like Metin and Cinar are toast, and Merdan is dying, isn't he? I hope Ilgaz and Ceylin make it through this.

I'm really getting tired of the fact that Zafer probably planned to kill Cinar but Cinar's the murderer? So...it would have been better if he'd let himself be killed and thus not trespass on the Kaya honor?

Ceylin's mood swings are something. I have thought, though, that she made a good point. When Inci was killed, she was involved in defending Cinar and taking flak from her father. Now she can finally give in and cry for both of them.

Osman has walked into the lion's den. Whatever comes of this is Aylin's fault. She did say she'd forgiven him, but Zumrot's pregnancy was apparently a bridge too far. But whatever sleazy, unfaithful thing a man might do, punishing him by withholding his child from him is just wrong.

Lucio, thanks for filling in the parts about Tugce. Unless I've lost it, Telemundo cut out that whole thing about her mother dragging Tugce away.

Yep, that was a funny scene with Yekta and that thing on his face.

Yep, that was a real Godfather scene where Merdan gets the guy to submit to being shot, and he acts like he's very happy to help.

Ilgaz saw the bus video, but it wasn't exactly clear to me that he knew Zafer was holding a gun on him. In any case, Ilgaz is going to torture himself for sure. This is for sure a whole different culture. Can't say anyone in my family has done a bad thing, but I doubt I'd feel guilty if my brother or sister did something bad. I'd be sad for them but not feel like my honor was stained.

I would love Derya and Pars to be a couple. Ilcey are too chaotic for me to enjoy as is.
About Yekta’s fake law degree. He blew up the law school. Records were destroyed. There was a two-week time jump after the explosion. I am assuming they reported the fake during that time. Then there was a brief comment that a judge dismissed the case, or something like that. There were no further investigations.

ITA, novelera, I’m also tired of Cinar being called a murderer. He was kidnapped and struggled to save his own life. Extenuating circumstances for sure. What was the writer thinking? Wouldn’t a cop realize this? Metin supported his son in the wrong way.

Let Ilgaz torture himself, why should Ceylin have all the drama? I get his devastating disillusionment. He admires his father, and he loves his troubled brother. And maybe there’s guilt because he feels he should have, could have done something different to prevent it. While some people on the outside would be sympathetic to a family in this situation, there are others who are ready to speculate, blame and shame.

I have no idea where Telemundo is going to end this. If you care to keep score, we are in Turkish episode 28 out of 34 in the first Turkish season. There were 63 episodes total in 2 seasons. This dizi was supposed to end with season 2 but it still has very good ratings and they decided on a third season.

Ceylin meets the brother of the owner of the house. He knew Zafer and gives his condolences. And he’s totally on board with her moving in. He didn’t realize she was married. She says they were waiting for her father’s return for a wedding.

Eren’s driving is making Pars nervous. Eren says, Cinar killed someone, Metin who is like a father to me, covered it up, and the man might shoot himself in the head. What if we’re too late? Pars says, slow down so we get there alive. God willing, we do, Eren replies, but if that’s His will, what can we do?

Ilgaz tries calling his father. No answer.

Metin arrives at the cemetery. He gives the driver all the money in his wallet. The driver says it’s too much. It’s for your son’s wedding, Metin replies, may they grow old on one pillow. May they see the happiness of grandchildren. Protect them.

Defne calls Ilgaz to tell him Cinar left with a suitcase. She’s hysterical. Ilgaz asks, did he say where he was going? No. Defne begs Ilgaz to do something. Tell him not to go. Ilgaz assures her he will find Cinar and bring him back. Don’t cry. She cries, I’ll miss playing games, doing homework, and going out with him. Promise you’ll bring him back. Ilgaz tries not to cry. He promises Defne.

Cinar goes to his grandpa. Merdan gives him a passport and asks Cinar if he’s sure about this. He also gives him a stack of US dollars. Merdan says, my men will take you to a port in Tuzla. They have a business there. You will get into a container and wait quietly. Don’t be scared and don’t ruin the plan. You’ll be locked in as a precaution. The boat departs tomorrow morning. After the container is loaded on the boat and the journey is over, the doors of a new world will be opened to you.

Ilgaz calls Cinar, who hands his phone over to Merdan. Cinar won’t be needing that anymore. Ilgaz is angry at Cinar—how could you do this, brother?

Ceylin wants copies of the house key. The clerk recommends she should change the locks on the house for safety reasons. He will send someone to install but Ceylin says she will do it herself.

Metin stands at his wife’s grave. I’m leaving, Kiymet, with what little breath remains in my body. I bring my tarnished mind and my darkened heart to you. I’ll go with you. He takes out his gun. I’ll take care of what I’ve done, here. He kneels at the grave. You talk to God about the sin I’m about to commit. [suicide is a big sin in Islam.]

The “rescue” team arrives at the cemetery. Ilgaz shouts for his father as he’s about to pull the trigger. As the three men arrive on the scene, Metin shouts with the gun still at his head, stop! Don’t come closer! Ilgaz implores, put the gun down! Metin shouts, stay back! Leave!

Ilgaz softens his tone. Put down the gun, let’s talk. Metin says there’s nothing to talk about. It’s over, Ilgaz. Ilgaz tells his father he knows everything. I know Cinar killed Zafer and you’re covering it up.

Metin answers, to protect you. And to protect Cinar. You know I’ve never believed in Cinar. Whenever he stared into the abyss… I never took his hand. I pushed him. He wasn’t like me or you. I was scared he’d be like Merdan… and he was. And I’m to blame. It’s my fault for not teaching him better. I didn’t even do it when he was called a murderer. Instead I covered it up. I buried him at the bottom of the abyss. I didn’t hesitate.

Metin continues, he almost died because of me. When he approached me and asked for help, I said I’d only do it one time and never again because I couldn’t take it. And then he passed out. I tried to save him…but I destroyed everyone. There’s no going back, Ilgaz.

 

secrets #52 part 2

Ilgaz says, not if you do this. If you pull that trigger, you’d be taking the father I’ve admired for years. Don’t do it, Dad. Don’t do it and take my memories from me, don’t leave me like this. Metin replies, these roots are rotted because of me. You may as well be pointing the gun at us, Ilgaz says. If you die, we all die. Don’t do this! Don’t kill us!

There’s nothing I can do, Metin responds. I can’t live a life I don’t deserve. I can’t live if I can’t face you. I can’t live if I can’t hold my head high. I can’t live with this stain, and neither will you! I’d rather you mourn at my grave… than visit me in prison.

Metin pulls the trigger several times. Dad! Chief! But the gun doesn’t fire. It clicks like it’s empty. Ilgaz rushes to his father, takes the gun and holds his father.

We see Merdan at his desk, lining up bullets. There’s a flashback. Merdan watches Metin with Defne. Then he goes and empties the bullets from Metin’s gun.

Metin sobs in Ilgaz’s arms. May God punish me for my sins! Eren sees Metin’s gun was empty. Pars and Eren give father and son time to be alone. Metin cries, may God condemn me and put an end to my shame.

Ilgaz stands and reaches out his hand to his father. He pulls Metin up.

Merdan’s men bring Cinar to the port. Ozgur is following in a taxi.

Pars tells Eren, never in my life have I felt so upset and ashamed for someone. Eren says he can’t believe it. He was going to shoot himself in front of us. In my 40 years I never thought he would commit suicide. Pars says, what kind of trouble did he get into? His conscience must be weighing heavily on him.

Ilgaz recounts, remember when I was in school, and the teacher made me collect money for the textbooks? I will never forget that. We ran around in gym class and at lunch everyone went to buy simit. I didn’t have money. I was so upset that I took the class’ money and bought simit and ate it. I was just a child. I was so ashamed, I couldn’t look you in the face. I knew I did something wrong, and I told you. Without getting upset, you gave me money and told me not to do it again. You had me stand up in class and confess so I’d learn my lesson. I was ashamed and hurt, but I learned not to make mistakes. Not to lie or steal. I guess you’re never too old to learn.

Ilgaz continues, you can’t say it won’t happen to you. I don’t know if I can ever forgive you. Maybe I never will. Not you or Cinar. I’m so angry. To keep from hating you and Cinar I have to question my dignity and integrity. How could you Dad? I can’t believe it.

I panicked and thought it was the right thing to do, Metin replies, and then Cinar… I never meant to damage your reputation… or my honor. Well, you’re going to do it now, Ilgaz tells him, you’ll pay the price as you should. By living your shame in pain and being punished not by running. You’ll suffer every day. Wherever you sent Cinar, find him and bring him back! Then with the last bit of honor, you will turn yourselves in and confess. Just like you taught me. Don’t make me take you to the police station. I can’t deal with that shame.

Metin asks, what will happen to you? We’re trapped, Dad. She (Ceylin) is going to hate me till the day she dies! How can I ask her to love me or take my last name? How can I look her in the face? How do I tell her? Ilgaz tells Metin he has until tonight.

Ilgaz asks a favor from Pars. My father intended to commit suicide here and somehow get Cinar out of the country. He told me Cinar left the house, but he can’t board a plane. He’s going to find Cinar so they can turn themselves in… with your permission, of course. With what little dignity they have left, they should turn themselves in. I’ll understand if you’re against it. Pars agrees to it.

Ilgaz asks Eren to stay with Metin. Ilgaz is so upset he pukes.

 

secrets #52 part 3

Ceylin replaces the lock on the door. A neighbor comes by. Ceylin had borrowed the tools to do the job. The neighbor lets her keep them. She looks so happy. Too bad this won’t last long.

Ilgaz is at his mother’s grave. He’s not dead, mom. But in my heart, he’s dead. He and Cinar shot themselves. They shot me and the rest of us. Though there’s no grave, I buried them both. I no longer have a father and a brother. All I have left of you is Defne.

Ozgur watches Cinar. The men open the container. It stinks. A man explains they use this when “something comes up.” Don’t be scared, don’t make noise. Hold tight because it will be bumpy. Cinar is given a bag of food and a flashlight, and he’s locked in.

Ozgur reports to Yekta. Yekta asks if he’s on the boat yet. Not yet. Yekta says get the container number and text it to him.

Osman brings Yekta documents with Aylin’s assets. Divorce is inevitable, he says, all I want is my daughter. Yekta explains that custody and divorce cases are long and contentious. Details are important. All your embarrassment will now become our trump card. Osman says nothing.

Yekta asks, you think it’s cruel? You say she’s the mother of your child, and she tells you not to worry. It’s a lie. Playing by the rules is boring, Yekta says, I play dirty, and I don’t let anything stop me. And at the end of the road is a glass of champagne. Yekta laughs, I don’t hear you refusing to play. Think about it and make your decision. Osman is in. Yekta says let’s have coffee. Tell me about your marriage from the beginning.

Ceylin goes home and gathers her family. She tells them to come, she has a surprise.

Defne runs to Ilgaz as he comes through the front gate. Where’s Cinar? Let’s talk inside, Ilgaz says. Inside, Makbule tells Ilgaz that Cinar took all his things. How can a person donate everything they have without keeping something or buying something?

Ilgaz tells Defne she was right. Cinar packed everything and planned to leave. She asks, is he going to school? Will he come back? Ilgaz says he will probably come back. Or we will go see him. Dad went after him, so we might not see him for a while.

Makbule didn’t know this. She says it must have been a last-minute decision. Defne cries, my dad left without saying goodbye? Without giving me a kiss? Ilgaz hugs her. What’s going to happen to me, she asks. My brother and father left. And you just married Ceylin. I’ll be all alone. Ilgaz says no. Defne asks if she could live with him. With you and Ceylin? I’ll never abandon you, Ilgaz replies, I promise you.

Eren and Metin go to Merdan’s place. Metin says Merdan knows where Cinar is. Eren asks, his grandfather is involved too? I’m going to go crazy. Look what happened under our noses. Because of you, I’ve lost faith in life, he tells Metin, I always admired you. I saw you as a father and Ilgaz as a brother. The scar on my head is nothing compared to the one on my heart.

Metin and Eren enter Merdan’s office. Metin asks, where is Cinar? Merdan plays dumb, he’s probably out having fun. Metin says it’s over. Merdan looks at Eren. Let’s speak plainly, Metin says. Where is Cinar? Ilgaz knows. Everyone knows. Merdan says to follow him.

Osman tells his story. I am assuming they were at a vacation place in the summer. Osman says, at the end of the summer Aylin wanted to stay. I said I would come on the weekends. I knew she wasn’t well. She wasn’t sleeping. She took pills.

One morning, Parla and our son, Deniz, left the house and went to the pool. Aylin didn’t hear because of the pills she took the night before. Nobody was at the pool. Deniz fell into the deep end. He couldn’t swim. Parla called for Aylin, but she didn’t hear. Parla jumped in but couldn’t save her brother. Osman cries.

Yekta looks sympathetic [or is it just his wheels turning?]. He says a child’s death is painful. The wound never heals. He puts his hand on Osman’s shoulder. I understand your pain. My condolences. He asks, then what happened?

Osman says, everyone showed up at the pool. Ambulances. Aylin didn’t even get out of bed. Then she got depressed. I don’t think she’s gotten over it yet. She’s not her old self. Osman says here are the medical reports. She received a lot of treatment.

This is hard, Yekta says, but you’re not alone. Yekta Tilmen is by your side. They have wrecked you, but enough is enough. This is an incredible story and it’s good for us. Osman asks if this will harm Parla. If anyone is to blame, it’s her mother. Yekta agrees, the mother is to blame. A mother who couldn’t care for her two children. We are not criticizing poor Parla. After what I do, she will be begging you not to divorce.

Ceylin excitedly shows her family the new house. She says this is the only thing keeping her alive. It’s giving her purpose. Like a regular person. She takes them on a tour and points out the most important room… the baby’s room. You’re pregnant, Aylin asks? No, Ceylin replies, but I hope to be soon. Gul is happy to hear it. Aylin looks upset.

Ceylin worried they would think it a bad idea. Gul says if Zafer was alive he’d approve. She says they would talk about it and thought Ceylin would never get married. He thought you would give us grandchildren. Aylin looks unhappy. [maybe a little jealous?]

Makbule chases after Ilgaz. I know Cinar, she says, this is his fault again. He has to go to jail. And where will my brother be taken? What did he do? Did Neva mention the letter? Ilgaz says she brought it and he read it. He covered up Cinar’s mistake. He confessed everything. Makbule can’t believe it. What did Cinar do? How did Metin cover it up? I’ll tell you, Ilgaz replies, but I have something to do first.

Aylin tells her mother she doesn’t see Ceylin’s behavior as normal. Gul asks Aylin why she is angry. Aylin says, we put up with all of Ceylin’s actions at home. If she makes a mistake, she’s supported. [like being thrown out of the house for defending Cinar?] But I have to agonize to get any support.

Gul doesn’t understand what she did wrong. Think about that, Aylin replies, about why you make me feel like this. I understand Ceylin, but if I were doing this you’d call me crazy. You’d say it’s too soon and worry what would others say. See how everyone supports her?
Gul says Ceylin is fighting through the pain she feels. What should I do? Deny her support and tear her apart? All I want is a little understanding, Aylin whines, understand me too.

Pars enters the courthouse. Is he having trouble with his hand? Derya walks up to him. Oh, yes, he remembers she called him. She realizes he has a lot on his mind now. We talked about managing the case together, she says, but whenever I need you, you’re not around.

Pars replies, when things start overlapping… She interrupts, I’d ask what it’s about but I’m sure you’d lie. He asks, do you mind if we talk later, maybe with a different mindset? The conversation is getting off track. It’s not productive.

Derya tells him Neva has been assigned to the Pinar’s case. Will you be indifferent to her too? I understand you’re keeping something from me. I’m curious what could be more important than a sibling? Pars snaps back, don’t worry, I think about my sister plenty. Derya asks if this has anything to do with Ceylin’s father. He tells Derya to stick to her own cases. I appreciate your interest, but for now it’s not necessary.

 

secrets #52 part 5

Pars tells Ridvan to make a Turkish coffee, a double, make it strong. And keep everyone out of my office. Neva knocks and enters his office. Did you find Chief Metin? You still call him chief, Pars replies. She asks, he didn’t hurt himself, did he? Ilgaz stopped him, Pars says.

Change of topic. Pars knows Neva has the Pinar Senturk case. He says, be careful. She knows. What he really means is she shouldn’t take the case. She objects. She can deal with it.

Neva wants to go back to the current topic. Pars doesn’t want to talk. It’s too much. He says, give me space to breathe. You’re not the only one who suffers, she says. I had to make a ruling today. I sentenced a stepfather to 63 years for sexually abusing his stepdaughter. The girl is in pieces. Her fear and anxiety will always be present. Pars says he’s proud of her. Other judges should follow her example. Neva says, talk. She deserves to know.

Ceylin and her family clean the new house. Ilgaz sits by the shore.

We see Eren driving with Metin and Merdan.

Ilgaz arrives at the new house. Ilgaz calls Eren for an update. We are headed for Cinar now. He’s supposed to leave tonight. Ilgaz says let me know when you catch him. He tells Eren he’s about to have the hardest conversation of his life. Her world is in shambles and I’m going to destroy it more. I don’t know how to tell her. Eren has no advice to give.

Ilgaz sees Ceylin’s family leave. He goes to the door and rings the bell. She answers and gives him a hug. He apologizes for not being around. She understands he’s a busy DA. She raves about the house and what she will do with it. He remains subdued. She shows him the kitchen and notices he looks glum. She thinks it’s about her cooking skills. She takes him upstairs. And finally… the baby’s room.

Ceylin says, I can’t tell you how good this place makes me feel. I feel full of hope after my father’s passing. Maybe I’m clinging to this place to keep from going crazy. But I’m grateful I have you in my life, Ilgaz. Being with you, dreaming with you, is the best thing in the world right now.

The house tour continues and Ilgaz’s suffering increases. She finally stops running her mouth. Don’t say you don’t like it, she asks him. I like it, he answers. Then why haven’t you said anything since you got here, she asks. She notes he’s sad. But she goes right on talking about the house, like she’s avoiding. She wants to go out and buy paintings. Ilgaz stops her. He asks for a hug.

Eren arrives at the port. Merdan takes them to the container. Locks are broken. It’s been opened. Eren checks it out. No Cinar. But his stuff is in there. Merdan makes a call.
Ilcey sit on the couch in the candlelight. She talks about making halva and understanding the need for tradition. It makes the process easier. People should experience pain and anger. Ceylin says Lacin stopped by, she didn’t look well. I felt bad for her. She hates Yekta, who doesn’t? She needs to be rescued from that man.

Ceylin mentions that Lacin saw him at Tilmen Law. I told her she was confused. The doorbell rings. Dinner is delivered. She continues to talk of wonderful plans for the future, including their families.

Ilgaz starts to tell her. She shuts him up with a kiss.

Metin questions Merdan’s men. You locked him in. Did he evaporate into the air? If this is a trick, you’ll pay. Eren calls Metin back to the container. There’s something he needs to see. There are signs of a struggle inside the container.

Merdan is angry at his guys. He slaps them and shouts. He threatens.

Ilcey eat in silence. At least Ceylin is eating. She notices. He says he’s not hungry. She says ok, tell me. What is it? What’s wrong? Didn’t you like the house? That’s not it. Then what?

Ilgaz gets a call from Eren. Cinar is gone. But he was taken by force. There was a fight or something. He’s not here. Ilgaz says he’s on his way. He tells Ceylin it’s about a case he’s investgating, he has to go. You’re a DA, she says with some annoyance, I guess I’ll have to get used to it. He walks out when she’s in the middle of a sentence.
Ilgaz calls Eren. Tell Pars to come. I asked him to trust my father to find Cinar. Eren tells him to relax. Pars will likely say he knew we wouldn’t find him.

Ilgaz shouts at Metin, where is Cinar? He asks Merdan. No one knows. Pars arrives. Eren fills him in. Could be Cinar’s been killed. Ilgaz reads everyone the riot act, then he goes to Pars, who tells him not to worry, we will wait. We will investigate and find him. Be patient, it will be like you said.

Ceylin curls up on the couch and looks at pics of her dad.

The investigation continues. The group looks at footage from the port. There was a black car with plates covered. Someone took Cinar by force. Pars asks who? Ilgaz thinks it was Metin and Merdan. Pars says if it was them they’d have the key. They could have opened the door.

Ilgaz is now leaning towards his grandpa. They can’t run plates. Eren says maybe they can check highway cameras and surrounding areas.

Ceylin calls Ilgaz. He doesn’t answer.

They look at footage of Cinar leaving the house and notice Ozgur following him. Who is he? Ilgaz thinks Merdan will know, and he gets ready to go. Eren says that Ceylin called him and he made something up but… how long will you avoid the subject?

Ilgaz says he can’t tell her, she found a ray of hope while she mourns her father. She’s crazy about the house. My brother killed her father, my father and grandfather covered it up. She will hate me and my family and she has the right to spit in my face! [I’m getting tired of this]

Metin asks Eren if he found anything. Eren shows him a pic of Ozgur. Do you know him? No. Metin asks about Halil. He gave a statement and he’s not changing his story. Pars is keeping him in custody.

Ozge gives Halil’s statement to Derya and says Pars is keeping him in custody. Derya questions this. Ozge says that Ridvan said Pars was at the station all night with Ilgaz. You can ask him. Derya thinks it’s better if Ozge asks. Ozge gets embarrassed. Derya says it’s okay, we’re only human. Just keep it professional. Let me know if you discover anything new.

Neva is in Pars’ office. He says, Eren, Ilgaz and I watched video all night, and nothing. Pars says he’s going back. She asks if he’s been taking his meds. He gets annoyed. She gets annoyed. He tells her don’t worry, I’m keeping my promise. But what we are dealing with is unreal. The more I think about it, the less I can digest it. We are talking about Metin. She asks if Ceylin knows. Not yet.

Ceylin tends to new plants on the balcony. She thinks of calling Ilgaz but puts the phone back in her pocket.

Ilgaz shows up with Eren at Merdan’s place. He chases everyone out. Merdan says he’s investigating but he has nothing. He sees that Ilgaz and Eren don’t believe him. I know you are upset and angry. But I have nothing to do with this. I don’t know where Cinar is or what happened to him.

Ilgaz shows him Ozgur’s picture. Who is it? Ilgaz still thinks Merdan is behind this. Merdan says he’s not one of mine. But I know him.

Yekta and Yavuz are in Pars’ office. My client is very upset, Yekta says, the reputation he built over years is ruined. We are going to sue for false charges. Furthermore, the police made a big mess of this. Do you agree? Pars says to give him time. I’ll think of something.

Yekta says Yavuz was accused of this crime and even you were confused. In short, we are suing all the officers involved in the investigation. Pars asks, don’t you have any complaints about me? You complain about everything else. The birds in the sky, the fish in the water, the flies in the station.

Yekta laughs May I ask if something is bothering you? We might be able to help. Pars barks, stick to the subject at hand. Do you have anything else to add? Only that we are not suing you. After all, you only carried out the investigation using the evidence you were given. We have no complaints if you do your job well. Pars warns him to watch it. Yekta laughs again.

Ceylin is washing dishes. [she’s becoming a real homemaker]. The doorbell rings. A man delivers paint. She starts painting the walls. She stops to call Ilgaz. Where are you? You said you’d help paint, but I have already started. Are you going to fix that lamp? I fixed up the balcony.

She asks, why aren’t you saying anything? Why do I feel I’m doing this alone? You were supposed to come over yesterday. Is there something more important than us? Are you running away from me? He remains silent. Ilgaz?

Ilgaz finally responds, don’t you think you are overdoing it with the house? She’s taken aback. I thought you’d be as happy as me, she replies. It’s just… so sudden, he says. I’m not sure, Ceylin. She asks, why are you not sure about living with me in this house? What the hell are you talking about? Where can I meet you? We have to discuss this now.

Ilgaz asks, are you finished? Drop what you’re doing and go home so we can meet and talk.

And we are out.

Thanks again, dondi. Another really well written recap. And I'm with you all the way. So tired of all the ranting about the whole family being ruined. And I saw the likely big split between Ilcey over the "murder" coming all the way. Sigh.

Interesting that Ceylin said they could walk to both their families houses from the apartment.

I found Metin's scene with the taxi driver touching. And I wonder how many U.S. taxi and/or Uber drivers would turn down a lot of money. And I liked the wish that the couple would grow old on the same pillow.

Cinar has his faults, but it appears he was very close to Defne, perhaps because he's closer to her in age and still a bit of a child himself.

I remember reading either in a recap or a comment that we didn't see the fact that Yekta's lack of a law degree was brought up but he squirmed out because of the fire having burned the records.

A bit OT, but I was wondering if some telenovelas on Telemundo are delayed because of the writers' strike. If they are members of SAG/AFTRA, they would not be writing episodes.

That was good advice the locksmith gave her about changing locks. I did the same when I moved into my house. One never knows who the previous owners might have given keys to: painters, cleaning persons, repair people.

When Metin pulled the trigger without there being a bullet, I was thinking of the movie Taken where Liam Neeson's character tells the snotty French guy that he should have noticed that a loaded gun feels differently than an empty one.

The pills issue has come up before with Aylin. She was trying to give them to Gul after Inci was killed. Aylin was hard to feel sympathy for last night. She couldn't just join in with her sister's happiness in the new place and the possibility of having a child?

Hmmm. Your recap, dondi, corrected an idea I had. I thought Yekta was going for full custody of Parla after a divorce. But then he said Aylin wouldn't dare go through with one (presumably after he bullies her about her drowned son).

This is mostly a crime series, but this episode they turned to telenovela style - overdramatic. Ceylin suddenly reaches "making a family" high, while Kaya family all cannot bear the guilt, when in reality, Cinar did nothing wrong. They need to add a cool head to this bunch, maybe Derya?
