Quote for Turkish ep #30: "Putting something together after you broke it doesn't make it whole again." - ibn Rushd (Averroes)
Umut calls Eren. Serdar is nowhere to be found.
Pars wants Cinar brought to the crime scene. They realize Ceylin will be informed. Pars says they’ll tell her they are looking for a witness and try to keep her sidelined.
Pars invites Neva to dinner but she’s going out with Cuneyt. I think in Turkish he mutters that Cuneyt is using her, or something like that.
Very subdued dinner at the Erguvans. Ilgaz calls Ceylin. She turns her phone over. Gul stares at her. Ilgaz calls again. Ceylin excuses herself and goes to her room to take the call. Gul gets up from the table and I think she will try to listen in.
Ceylin tells Ilgaz her mom and sister went to his house. He knows. He asks if she is going to their house. Yes. He says he will go there if she wants him to. Ceylin tells him to bring a blanket and some clothes. She’s having a wardrobe delivered tomorrow. It would be nice to start settling in.
Gul is in Ceylin’s face when she opens the door. You’re still seeing that DA. Ceylin tries to make excuses. Mom, he found out later, just like us. He had no knowledge of or connection to what happened. If he knew, he wouldn’t keep it a secret. Gul asks, are you trying to convince me or yourself?
Ceylin shrugs. Gul says that’s right. No connection. Theres nothing to say about that. You put in so much effort to understand and forgive him, so I will believe you. You can forgive him, or you can try. Say he will be your husband and that will continue. There’s a chance you’re not afraid of having that awful last name. I understand. But I won’t do it. You’re an adult, I can’t interfere. You wouldn’t listen anyway. But do I want this? Never.
Gul continues, I want to know if this will extinguish your desire to punish them? I’d hate to hear later that you don’t want him tried because he’s your husband’s father. I’d erase you from my life if you did. Every one of them will pay… one by one. You are to stay out of my decisions. I consider any member of that family my enemy forever. And don’t bring that DA over my house with the excuse he’s your husband. Don’t expect me to look at him. I hope you can respect that. [how does that feel, Ceylin?]
Ilgaz packs. Metin knocks on his door. Ilgaz tells his dad about the house. Metin is surprised he’s still with Ceylin. But I don’t know for how long, Ilgaz replies, until her anger gets the best of her. [start the countdown clock.]
Eren pulls up as Ilgaz leaves the house. He asks if it’s forbidden to see him at all. I’m not here to pass info, he says. They get in Ilgaz’s car. Ilgaz laments, I didn’t even know if she’d look at me this morning. I thought I’d lost her, that she’d never speak to me again. And would we shame her for it, Eren asks in reply. No, we would not.
Ilgaz says his head was spinning when Ceylin said, “let’s go home.” The idea of her forgiving me makes me happy. Eren says, she loves you. And she’s shown it by being brutal, Ilgaz replies. Eren answers that Ceylin may be brutal, but she could never hurt anyone. [I think he’s wrong about that, but we shall see.] It’s unnatural to her. She loves you very much. She can’t live without you.
What can I do, Ilgaz replies, I don’t know if our love is enough to save us. I see the hate in her eyes. I told her about my father’s suicide attempt and she immediately petitioned for his arrest.
Eren says Ceylin also filed a complaint with the General Directorate, and the communication center, in hopes Metin will no longer serve. She’d literally burn him to death if we let her. What will you do, Eren asks. It’s not right, you’re so patient. Ilgaz says he will do what it takes to keep her calm. If she gets mad, he will love her even more. [Where is your self-respect, Ilgaz?]
Ilgaz arrives at the house and Ceylin pretends she’s asleep. He covers her with his blanket. He sits next to her and says, “seni seviyorum”—I love you.

Ceylin gets up the next morning and finds a nice breakfast table set out on the balcony. Ilgaz comes and pours the tea. She’s grouchy. It’s cold, she complains, let’s go in. He thought she made the balcony so nice—the flowers are beautiful. She clicks a no. She hates them and wants to get rid of them.
Ceylin’s phone pings. Pars has asked for Cinar’s transfer. She asks, is this another operation to kidnap Cinar? Please don’t do this, Ilgaz replies. There was a discrepancy in the statement and the number of bullets. What are you preparing me for, she asks. You said you wouldn’t interfere. You started this, Ilgaz answers. Even if I did, she says, don’t say anything. I’m going out. [leave now, Ilgaz, while you have a shred of dignity left.]
Snarky breakfast talk at the Tilmen house. He mocks a gloomy Lacin. He tells her to smile more, for the benefit of her facial muscles. Better than botox or collagen. She retorts, you could start by talking to me less in the morning. You can sit at a different table. Or leave the house. Whenever you do, I smile a lot for some reason. He laughs then says he doesn't appreciate her arrogant, reckless, and defiant attitude.
Cuneyt arrives and breaks up the nasty repartee. He tells Yekta that Pars requested a reconstruction of the crime scene. There was a discrepancy about the bullets fired. Yekta thinks Cinar was lying.
Crime scene. Orders are given. Pars wonders if they should contact Ilgaz. Eren says he gave strict orders not to. Pars asks Eren if he brought body armor because when Ceylin finds out, she’ll kill us. And speak of the devil, Ceylin arrives.
Pars explains to Ceylin that they might have missed something. If we reconstruct the crime, new details and evidence might emerge. He asks Ceylin to stay calm and not to interfere. She looks at Eren. He asks, would you let a possibly innocent man go to jail? He asks Umut to take Ceylin aside.
Furniture is delivered to Ilcey’s toxic love nest.
Back to the crime scene. Ceylin is worried that Cinar might try to escape. Eren assures her. She asks him to find the location of Cansu’s phone.
Cinar arrives. It’s a tense moment when Ceylin and Cinar see each other.
Ilgaz worries about where to place the furniture. Heaven forbid it upsets precious Ceylin.
Cinar begins to explain the order of events as he remembers. We see the flashbacks as he speaks. Ceylin listens intently. He describes the struggle for the gun. And then the gun went off. Ceylin tries to keep hold of her emotions. Cinar says that was the point he started bleeding. At first, he thought he was shot. Then he passed out. When I opened my eyes, he says, Zafer was lying next to me. And the rest is in my statement.
Pars says one of the bullets went through the armpit and struck the wall. That’s not enough to prove the murder charge. But there were two other bullets to the chest, proving lethal. It’s possible that somebody else shot him from the other side. From a higher angle. But you say there was only one gunshot?
Ceylin can’t keep silent any longer. What’s going on here?! Pars says they’re doing their job. He tells Umut to get her out of there. Pars continues. He asks Cinar, if you were unconscious, who fired the other two shots? I don’t know, Cinar replies, but it wasn’t me.
Ceylin paces. Is this a joke, she asks Eren. We are doing our job, he says. You’re trying to fabricate a third person, she replies. We are just searching for the truth, he answers.
Yekta covers his nose and mouth as he enters Serdar’s place with Cuneyt. The place is a mess. He calls for Serdar. The idiot is sacked out on the couch just wearing shorts. For God’s sake, open a window, Yekta implores. Yekta gives Serdar a couple of wallops with a pillow. Cuneyt finally wakes the slob and Yekta says to get him a robe.
Yekta questions Serdar. There are things you didn’t tell us. And unfortunately, not only do we know, but so do the cops. Serdar stutters…what…do they know? What do they want? Yekta comments on how Serdar is wide awake now. You’ve been summoned to testify, he says. They got Cinar to show them the spot where Zafer was murdered. I wonder what the police know that we don’t, and what’s this about testifying?
Serdar swears he told Yekta everything. I’m not hiding anything. Yekta grabs him by the neck. Listen cockroach, I know a liar when I see one. [takes one to know one.] Swearing won’t make me believe you. Tell me what you did and happened that day or I’ll stick you in a hole where you will rot forever! Do you understand?! Yekta lets go of Serdar and must wipe his hand off on the couch. Lol.
We get the flashback. Zafer and Cinar struggle. There’s the shot. Both are on their backs. Cinar passes out. Serdar approaches. Zafer is still alive. Serdar takes the gun and places it in Zafer’s hand. Zafer is too weak to resist. Serdar pumps two shots into Zafer’s chest. Then he puts the gun in Cinar’s hand.
Ilgaz is fixing up the house when Ceylin blows in like an ill wind. [countdown to blast off!] Damn it! Damn it! It wasn’t enough to try and stop you, she shouts at Ilgaz. Now everyone from the courthouse to the police force are trying to save Cinar from prison.
Ilgaz asks what happened if she cares to talk. You’d find out even if I didn’t tell you, she snipes, your friends are conspiring to cast suspicion on a third person. They say there are 3 bullets and that they found new evidence. Cinar fainted after he pulled the trigger. They were investigating the other two bullets. Ilgaz tells her to calm down and gets her some water.
Ceylin takes a sip from the glass and smashes it on the floor. She’s frantic. I’m sure he’s going to get out of it. He’ll claim self-defense. Cinar won’t be a murderer because there’s someone else protecting him. It’s going to happen again!
Ilgaz says Eren and Pars wouldn’t do that. I remember you saying the same about your father, Ceylin replies. I said your father wouldn’t do that but people are people. We are all biased towards our loved ones. We’ve seen it before. And we’re talking about your brother.
Ceylin is relentless in her attack on Cinar. She blames him for Inci’s decline. He killed her father. He’s a professional liar, etc. Ilgaz stands there watching the “woman he loves” unravel. She continues, want me to tell you what happened? She tells her version of how Cinar will get away with murder. It goes on and on, ad nauseam.
Ilgaz asks, what do you want? Do you want someone to pay for what happened? Will that heal your pain? Will it? Think about it. You fell for it, Ceylin replies, now you have hope that you can save your brother. I didn’t say that, Ilgaz answers. Ceylin begs to differ.
I see you don’t trust me anymore, Ilgaz says, you don’t believe what I say. You claim I’m innocent, that you don’t blame me, but you do. The rage in your eyes hurts me. Ceylin declares, you’re to blame, too. Your father, your brother, all of you. She storms off to the kitchen. Am I wrong? Cinar, who killed my father, is trying to escape and you’re not doing anything about it! She yells about not being able to find glasses in the cabinet.
Ceylin’s ravings continue. Yay! Ilgaz finally picks his last shred of dignity off the floor and quietly leaves that manicomio. She comes back into the room, and he’s gone. Ceylin spots the house key on the table. She picks it up and goes after him. [run, Ilgaz, run.] She catches up to him on the street and holds out the key. What is this supposed to mean?
Your request to have my father arrested, I’ve still got it. I’m going to take it to the courthouse. Do you know what you’re saying, she asks. There’s no way you could even live with the fury inside you, he replies. Every time we’re together, a fight breaks out for whatever reason. You’re upset with me. You can’t differentiate between me and my family. This isn’t working.
Ceylin has the nerve to say-- you’re abandoning me at a time like this? I can’t stay, Ilgaz replies, I love you very much but I can’t stay. The anger in your eyes is killing me. I love you very much, too, Ceylin cries, what are we going to do? He hugs her. She tells him she’s not doing this on purpose. I think of your father and Cinar and then I’m back where I started. I remember everything they did to him. [but not that he kidnapped and tried to kill Cinar]
It will never end, Ilgaz says, no matter what I do, it will never be the same. Maybe what we are trying to do is impossible. Maybe you’d get better if I gave you some space. I don’t doubt you love me. He says her subconscious does everything to keep him away. She says ok, let’s get divorced.
She goes back into the house and starts trashing the place. Ilgaz cries in his car before he drives off. She cuts her hand, and we are briefly transported 6 months ahead again. We see that bloody knife.
Yekta is questioning Serdar. He can smell the lies coming out of his mouth. It’s irritating, he says, it disgusts me, and it’s beginning to severely inconvenience me. I can’t get over it. Serdar swears again he’s telling the truth. If I killed him, they would have found my fingerprints. Would I have come here if I killed him? You think I’m crazy? [we think you’re extremely stupid.] I would have escaped and Zafer would be rotting. Would I put myself in danger?
Yekta bangs on the table. Be grateful I’m a merciful man. If I weren’t, I’d use methods to make you talk. Don’t squander the opportunity I gave you. The consequences will be dire.
Eren and Pars arrive back at the station. Ridvan gets out of a police car and calls out to Pars. He gets tongue-tied and calls him “Parscal” a combo of Pars and fiscal. [In Turkish he called out, “Sars Pavcım” instead of “Pars Savcım”.] I think Eren is trying not to laugh here.
What did you call me, Pars asks. Ridvan apologizes. Did I ask you to come, Pars replies, instead use the phone — Graham Bell. Ridvan turns to go, but Pars calls him back. Yes, “Parscal”. Oops. Pars asks for the report and Ridvan hands it over. He gives Ridvan a homework assignment: write three pages of my name, with nice penmanship. Anything else, poor Ridvan asks. Yes, move to a small town. Go. Eren says everyone is off balance, even Ridvan. One question Eren can’t resist, what does “Parscal” mean? Pars warns him.
Umut brings a report. All three bullets were from the same gun that shot Zafer. Pars wonders who’s lying. And Serdar is still MIA. Pars has a thought—did Metin edit the footage when he hid the evidence? Maybe we should take another look at it. Metin didn’t know that Serdar was following him.
A guard comes for Cinar, he has a visitor. Cinar doesn’t budge. He says if it’s Yekta Tilmen, I don’t want to see him. Nope, it’s Ilgaz. I’ll ask once, big brother says, and you’re going to answer. How many times did the gun go off? Cinar swears it was only once. Ilgaz mentions the other bullets.
Cinar realizes it sounds ridiculous but he’s telling the truth. I just know about one bullet. Ilgaz asks, what about Serdar? We can’t find him. He got out of jail and disappeared. Do you know anything? Who is he with? Cinar is puzzled. Serdar? Answer my question, Ilgaz replies.
Pars and Eren eat and look at video. Eren spots something and starts choking. Pars slaps him on the back and starts the Heimlich maneuver. Eren stops him. He’s okay. Pars says he was scared. A beloved uncle of his died like that. Eren says he was about to meet Pars’ uncle.
Eren continues, I saw Serdar’s car and the food got stuck. They see him following a bus. We’ll catch him and make him talk.
Cinar tells Ilgaz that Yekta came to see him and asked if he needed a lawyer. He turned down the offer. Ilgaz turns to go. Cinar asks about the folks at home. Ilgaz doesn’t answer and leaves.
Ceylin comes to the station looking for Eren. Umut says he’s researching something with Pars. Ceylin asks Eren to see Serdar’s statement. They have to tell her that Serdar got out of prison and he’s disappeared. Pars says they found out he was following Zafer and Cinar.
You have to find him, Ceylin replies. We are looking for the same thing, Pars tells her. She says no, you’re looking for a killer, I’m certain that Serdar is a witness. The only thing we have in common is finding Serdar. I want him to testify that Cinar killed my father.
Ilgaz arrives at the station. He tells everyone that Serdar has a fake social media account. He’s been sharing pictures. It’s hidden. Cinar said this. I thought you weren’t getting involved, Eren says. Ilgaz doesn’t respond. He writes down the account: @thekingofdenzi.
Ceylin comments to Ilgaz—that was fast. You let me go and immediately got involved in the investigation. Eren and Pars make excuses to leave the room.
All I’m doing is searching for the truth, Ilgaz says. Not with my emotions, but with logic. With my will to seek justice. Are you sure, she responds, are you serious? You told me just two hours ago. That no matter how much I love you, and even though my heart and conscience want it, my subconscious is pushing you away. Now, please think with your subconscious. What if you just want to save your brother and father and are using my anger as an excuse? Is that why you broke up with me? Is that why we can’t be together?
Ilgaz takes a step towards her and she moves back. She puts her hands up. I’m not upset, really. I don’t blame you, I’m trying to understand. Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if Inci and me were in the same position. What would I do? I’m trying to understand and it’s breaking my heart.
They hold hands. Only the truth will heal our pain, Ilgaz tells her. We already have the truth, Ceylin replies. Ilgaz notices the bandages on her palm. He leaves the room to find Eren.
Eren and Pars look at Serdar’s account. They try to get some clues of his location from a pic. It’s frustrating. They share their frustrations with Ilgaz. Ilgaz says to find his IP address. Pars says if it’s a foreign country there are privacy rules, etc. He tells Eren to get in touch with the app administrator.
Pars leaves and Eren asks Ilgaz what’s going on. He thought things were good between Ilcey. He’s disappointed to hear they broke up. Ilgaz makes a slight turn of subject. Cinar didn’t fire the other two rounds. If I can prove it, I’ll get Ceylin back. If I can’t I’ll lose her for good. [it might be good if he loses her.] We need to find Serdar asap.
Pars returns to Ceylin. There’s nothing useful, he says. Ask Yekta, she replies. Do you think he’d tell me, Pars answers. He probably has a plan. The only way to scare Yekta is to tell him that you told us he took you there. No, she responds, you promised. Pars notes that in the meantime, Serdar enjoys his vacation.
Ceylin says let him think he won. Let him be overconfident so we can catch him. Once we have Serdar’s testimony then we will know who sent him… Yekta. Pars wants to know Ceylin’s plan. One step at a time, she replies, first let’s find Serdar. Pars says it’s a deal. She knows this is hard for him and she thanks him.
Eren stops Ceylin as she leaves the building. He has the info on Cansu. He cautions, don’t get in trouble. Ilgaz sees this and asks Eren about it.
Ilgaz stops Ceylin. He wants to go with her when she questions Cagdas. She wants to go alone. Ilgaz says Cagdas could have something to do with Kemal’s death. He’s on the run, this might not be easy. She’s ticked, you can go as a DA and I’ll go as a lawyer. We can go separately. He grabs her arm. He’s worried about sending her to a man who’s on the run. He could stop her [I guess with his DA powers]. She gives in. They leave in his car.
Pars asks Eren if Ilcey broke up. Eren says they did but they didn’t. Ilgaz told him they need to find the real killer so he can get Ceylin back. Pars says, how many steps on the as-Sirat must we take? [the razor-edged bridge one must cross to get into paradise. If you fall, you fall into hell.]
Umut enters with King Serdar’s GPS records. The cemetery, Ilgaz’s house, the hospital. And—the crime scene at Belgrade Forest. Pars concludes that Serdar took the body and buried it. Pars wants a search warrant. His family… his workplace… get statements. Eren asks if he should inform Ilgaz. Go ahead, Pars replies.
Serdar reads messages from Merve. He starts to type, I’ll tell you where I am if you don’t tell anyone. I miss you. Then he erases it.
Tugce and Parla contact Merve. Has she heard from Serdar? She answers no, but she’s got him. He was about to text her but he changed his mind.
Eren reports the Serdar findings to Ilgaz. Ceylin notes this is the first time they’ve worked together but have different goals. Serdar is just a witness. He’s trash, but he’s not a murderer. Ilgaz keeps quiet.
Serdar is taking selfies at the gym. Cuneyt has someone watching him and reporting back.
Parla and Tugce wonder what’s going on with Serdar. Tugce gets a notification. Serdar’s selfie. Tugce notices the temperature posting in his pic. It’s the same temp as in Istanbul. Tugce says they need to send him a “special” text message. Something to catch him.
Ilcey arrive at Cagdas’ location. Cagdas asks who’s there. Your lawyer, Ceylin Erguvan Kay… uh… Ceylin Erguvan. Don’t worry, we are only here to talk. Cagdas asks, who is he? Ilgaz Kaya, DA. Cagdas is alarmed. Ceylin says that Ilgaz just wants to make sure Cansu is okay. There are no police. Open the door.
Ilcey are in. Cagdas says why would he harm the judge who got him out of jail. Thank God for Judge Kemal. May he rest in peace. Ilgaz asks him where he was last Tuesday. He replies, that was the day after we ran away. We came straight here and haven’t gone anywhere else since. His friend and his brother can confirm.
Ceylin asks Cansu, how will this work? Will you run forever? You have to divorce first. That’s what the law is for. Cansu replies, if I even mention divorce, they will kill me. They will kill both of us. Ilgaz says they can get an order of protection. Ceylin says she has rights. No one can force her to stay married. You can live freely.
Cansu says it doesn’t work like that. [Antep rules] There are tons of divorced and separated women who get murdered by their husbands or boyfriends with a knife or a gun. They do it in front of everyone and no one says anything. There’s no other answer but to run. Ilgaz says as a DA, he can protect them. Worried looks from Cansu and Cagdas.
Ilcey leave. Poor girl is scared to death, Ceylin notes, she was forced to marry someone she doesn’t love. Ilgaz asks Ceylin to send Cansu’s divorce petition to him so he can do what’s necessary.
Ceylin tells Ilgaz that their petition is going to be presented today.
Ilcey arrive at the courthouse. Ceylin says she’s leaving. He offers to drive her to the office but she says she’s going home (mom’s house). Are you moving back that quickly, he asks. She says it’s the opposite, she’s going to make the new house into a home. She loves it. She’ll take her things from her mother’s house little by little. She gets out of the car. He watches her walk away.
Ilgaz asks Ozge to come to his office. She has some files for him to review. Later for that, he says and asks, who is Judge Duygu’s secretary? Iclal. Ilgaz says to call her. Ozge leaves and Ilgaz types, “Istanbul (113) Family Court”
Ceylin comes to see Neva. She says, you told me if I ever needed anything. I have something to ask. Neva invites her to sit. Whatever you need. Ceylin begins, we’ve all been through a lot. It hasn’t been easy. One way or another, everyone’s received their share of punishment and they still do. But you know who’s never been hurt, who’s always laughing and who toys with people? Do you know who looks at all this and enjoys it? [Okay patio, all together now…] Yekta.
Ceylin continues, in order to find my balance again, Yekta needs to pay for every one of his sins. He needs to suffer the consequences of his actions or I’ll lose my blind faith in justice. Neva wonders what she can do for Ceylin. Ceylin answers—Cuneyt. Neva is immediately uncomfortable.
Cuneyt is a good person, just a bit ambitious, Ceylin says. I think it’s the only thing bad about him. [I thought he was a womanizer?] But like everyone he’s reached a point in his life at which he wants to go far in his career. He thinks Yekta will make that happen but he’s wrong. He can’t see it now, but if we convince him, we’d be saving him from a demon like Yekta. It would really help us. I mean, help me. I’d be defeating Yekta.
Neva takes a breath. I know what you’re trying to achieve, she says, I really do. Yekta is Cuneyt’s boss and they have a business relationship which I stay out of, so I won’t do it. Ceylin puts on her pouty face. Neva continues, Cuneyt is a grown man. He knows what’s right and wrong for himself. He knows what can get him in trouble. You’re asking him to sell out his boss. Don’t you think that’s humiliating? Neva says this would be humiliating for her, too. She adds, if there is something else I could do to fix your problem, please ask. No, thank you, Ceylin replies and goes.
Iclal comes to see Ilgaz. He tells her he needs a favor—let’s keep it between us. Can we agree? She agrees. I’m getting divorced, he says. She’s surprised. Ilgaz signs a document he prepared.
And we are out.
Gracias, Dondi. Excellent recap.
Since I didn't start watching until lately, I feel like I've cheated to find out so soon that Serdar murdered Zafer. So it seems once the truth is out, Ilcey will have a chance to stay togther.
When Ilgaz left his house key on the table, after Ceylin's "hate hate hate" diatribe, I laughed when Ceylin is surprised and asks innocently "so you're going to leave me?" Mujer, yes. Who could take all that venom?
I notice Neva is often curling her hair or applying lipstick. She's gorgeous like the rest, but I'm wondering if there's a point to showing her fluffing up.
Serdar seemed to be put up in a classy suite, yet the place reeked. At first I thought Yekta would find a dead body. But nope, Serdar is just a pig.
Dondi, I forgot to thank you for the clip of Aklım Kalır/ My Mind Remains. It's a shame we're not getting the original music. I don't remember them doing that with the dizi La Hija del Embajador.
Thanks so much, dondi. Tell us how you really feel about Ceylin! It seems you were prescient. I was sort of admiring the plucky female lawyer for a long time. I'm done. I had a moment recently of wondering about Derya for Ilgaz, but it looks like it will be Pars.
Ceylin should probably not have children. Parla hasn't exactly turned out well. She took some performance enhancing thing to win a race and was involved in the scheme to launder money. Gul is borderline insane. I remember how she refused to admit that Inci had died. Her behavior is not normal. Suppose Cinar really did kill Zafer. Why would that automatically rule out her daughter being married to his innocent, upstanding brother? Gah! I wouldn't want to marry into that family.
Ceylin reminded me of my son as a three-year-old in the patio scene. Determined to be pissy no matter how we tried to mollify him. So glad that was a phase. Ilgaz prepares a lovely breakfast, and she sits there with her lower lip stuck out. I also wanted Ilgaz to drive away before she caught up with him.
Why in the world was she allowed onto that crime scene? She could have completely spoiled Cinar's efforts to recall, even re-enact what happened, with her gorgon stare.
We've seen Yekta's cleanliness fetish before. He wanted to drive to prison because he thought the prison van was dirty. He talked about hour long showers when he was released. Serdar did make a mess, but I can't imagine it was THAT bad after 24 hours.
I am still confused about what happened in the warehouse. Cinar said he started bleeding. How? Was he shot? And are we to assume the armpit shot did not hit any flesh and were the only two wounds from Serdar's shots?
Got a big kick out of "countdown to blastoff" when Ilgaz showed up at "their house".
I'm starting to love it when Eren gets amused by Pars. OTOH is Telemundo cutting everything to do with Tugce's custody? They cut the part about her mother dragging her off, but they haven't shown Eren being upset or trying for joint custody.
I definitely laughed out loud when Ridvan was ordered to write Pars name all those times, with good penmanship. Early on I hated the way he treated Ridvan; now it just seems like a bit of a joke that Ridvan doesn't mind that much.
So, dondi, what does Antep rules mean? Male/female relationships are more old fashioned there?
I have only been watching dizis for a brief time, but I'm picking up on a propensity for showing key events in flashbacks. Sometimes I'm okay with it and sometimes not so much.
Thank you, dondi356. And thanks for the song link. The last several episodes featured several sad songs.
I don't understand why Serdar killed Zafer, and in such a cold blooded manner.
There were more flashforwards in the original: Eren is banging on Ceylin's office door "Open the door!" Ceylin hides the bloody knife into a flower pot. Eren breaks the door, goes to Ceylin and says "You are arrested for homicide." and puts handcuffs on her. He walks her to the car and says "How could you, Ceylin?!" She looks at him with a stone face.
Pars brings eclairs to Derya in return for her soup yesterday. He compliments her hair. He is babbling. Derya reveals that Neva told Pars that she likes eclairs, making Pars even more embarrassed. He goes to Neva and complains that she told Derya that she told him about eclairs. Neva could barely contain laughter.
Eren meets Tugce when she finishes school and they walk along the water. They catch up and have a good time. He asks her about Serdar. She says he has read the message she sent him. Eren asks her to let him know if she knows anything about Serdar.
Novelera, Cinar was bleeding because he was recently stabbed when he was in prison. The armpit shot hit some flash but was not fatal.
Thank you Niecie, novelera and Lucio.
Niecie: “I notice Neva is often curling her hair or applying lipstick.” This is product placement advertising, slightly edited in our version. “Ilcey will have a chance to stay together.” – Ceylin needs intensive treatment first. Yekta must have a very sensitive nose but ITA, Serdar is a pig.
ITA, it is a shame we don’t get the original soundtrack. Guess they have to pay extra for the songs. All the dizis I’ve watched on Univision have kept the original music.
novelera: I had hopes for Ceylin at the beginning, too. Now she just raises my blood pressure. What a dysfunctional family she has. I’m not sure why she was allowed to stay at the scene. Is that her right according to the law? They said she had to be notified Cinar was being transported.
Remember Hercai? The culture in Gaziantep, aka Antep, is similar to Mardin. Conservative. So it’s not uncommon for arranged/forced marriages, misogyny, blood feuds, honor killings, etc. with little consequence for the perpetrators.
Lucio: Thanks so much for mentioning the cuts. I try to check back to the original, especially when I suspect something might have been edited or there’s a bad translation. I try to check for songs, too. Sometimes it’s just too much to cover. And they shouldn’t cut Eren and Tugce. They should cut the Erguvans.
Thanks, Lucio, for reminding me that Cinar had been stabbed while he was in prison.
Thanks, dondi, for explaining Gaziantep. Wow, it's almost in Syria, way down there. Every time I watch one of these dizis, and occasionally a bit in telenovelas, I remind myself how very, very lucky I am to have been born into a culture that, although not perfect regarding equal rights, offers women a better quality of life.
Quote for Turkish ep #31: "Three things tire a person the most; to forgive, to keep silent while they burn inside, and to dream even though they know it won't happen." - Chuck Palahniuk
Ilgaz hands Iclal Ceylin’s divorce petition and his. File the request and send the judge my regards. I’d appreciate it if this is scheduled asap. Iclal stares at the papers. Ilgaz asks, do you understand? She hurries off.
Ozge catches Iclal in the hallway. She’s dying to know why Ilgaz summoned her. What does he have to do with Family Court? Iclal is reluctant because Ilgaz asked her to keep it a secret. Ozge sees it as a quid pro quo. Don’t I always fill you in on courthouse gossip? We’ve been friends for years. Ilgaz is my boss. Maybe something is bothering him. Iclal resists but Ozge keeps pressuring her.
Pars knocks and opens Derya’s door. They almost bump into each other and are startled. I suppose you’re busy, he says. Her hair is down and he comments it looks great like that. [Turkish] He begins to stammer, I mean… it’s curled and lush. That is…uh, I wanted to say you have good, strong hair… you will never have a problem with your hair... mashallah…
I wanted to give you this on the way to my office, Pars says. What is it, Derya asks. Eclairs, Pars replies, in case you like to have them with your tea. I don’t know if you like them, but they are bad for me. She’s pleased. Who would turn down an éclair? Pars wasn’t sure, but he’s happy she likes them.
Derya calls him out. Neva told her she told him about the éclairs. He’s surprised she told. Did you forget we are friends, Derya asks. He’s thrown for a loop and looks away. And we are siblings, Pars mutters, but it doesn’t seem to matter much. Here I’m talking about eclairs and work is waiting. Thanks, this is for the soup. He stumbles out. She's smiling and eats.
Pars heads straight for Neva and calls her out on her “betrayal”. I’m your older brother and I should be your priority! She’s just another person. I’m your older brother! What did I do, she asks. She starts to laugh when he mentions the eclairs. This isn’t funny to Pars. I was so embarrassed, he says, I was acting like a kid. That’s why I hate these things! It’s not that important, but my mind suddenly went blank. He gets up and walks out. [This was out of order from the original]
Ceylin arrives home and gives her mom a dirty look and heads to her room to pack. Gul speaks to Aylin, I said nothing--she made her choice. Will God grant them happiness? Aylin warns her to stay out of it like she said she would. I’ll keep quiet, Gul replies, but will the dead keep quiet, too? Ceylin hears everything.
Eren reports he visited the store where Serdar works. The owner comes and goes. He plans to get rid of the store. This seems to coincide with Serdar’s release. Pars asks about Serdar’s family. Eren says they haven’t heard from him. Pars thinks Yekta might have taken Serdar in. Eren agrees. Pars says he called Yekta in for a statement. Eren mentions Tugce and Parla were friends with Serdar.
[Another scene out of order from the original.] Eren and Tugce walk along the shore. He asks how things are with Ozlem. The same. He says he decided to file a paternity suit. I wanted to let you know, he says, and ask you a question.
Eren says it's about Serdar. He got out of prison, and I need to find him. I have questions. We need info on Cinar’s case. Have you seen him? Do you know if the other girls have met with him?
Tugce says no, but she knew he was released. And she realized he’s not very smart. Eren asks how. She says the idiot posted a picture. I saw it and messaged him, but he left me on read. Eren doesn’t understand and Tugce laughs at the “old man”. She explains Serdar saw the message but didn’t reply.
Eren says they must find him. He asks Tugce to let him know if he contacts her or if she learns anything. You will find him with that big brain of yours. They laugh. [maybe Tugce will be a cop when she grows up.]
Ceylin is fed up with Gul’s nonsense. She stands at the kitchen door and announces, I’m not leaving to be with Ilgaz, I’m going to start over for myself. Ilgaz and I are getting divorced. I suppose that’s what you wanted. That takes the wind out of Gul’s sails.
Aylin goes to her sister. Ceylin is too busy to talk. She throws things into her suitcase. She holds her hand up to Aylin. She says, I can’t… if I do… Aylin tells her to cry. Don’t hold it in. I won’t, Ceylin replies, it’s useless to do so. Nothing will change.
Aylin realizes her sister has made up her mind. But you love him, she says, I see the way you look at him. He loves you, too. This is hard, but you (Ilcey) are innocent in this. It’s hard to find a love like yours. Don’t you think you should treasure it? Think it over.
Ceylin says she’s dying from the pain. He doesn’t want to be with me anymore. I was an idiot. I couldn’t control myself, I couldn’t hold my tongue. Aylin excuses it because they lost their father. Ceylin says, one day we argued, and he said we should get divorced. I don’t blame him. This has been very hard for him, too. He hasn’t been able to handle it. [look who’s talking]
Put yourself in his place, Aylin advises. I haven’t said it isn’t hard for him, Ceylin replies. Ok, you understand each other, Aylin says, maybe you need to take a break. If you don’t get him out of your heart, it will never end. You’re both smart adults.
Ceylin says they might not be destined to be together. Aylin asks, is this fate or your choice? Ceylin replies, every time we try to be together, hell is released on Earth, and someone suffers. It’s almost always me. And then we both get hurt. He’s filing the request in family court. It will end in a few days. He’s a DA and everyone will jump to help him. Ceylin blows up because she can’t find her socks.
Ridvan is waiting for Ozge outside. He’s got two teas and raisin cakes. She doesn’t look happy, and he says he can get her a coffee instead. Forget the tea, cakes, and coffee, she says, things are out of control. I’m going to tell you, but don’t tell anyone. He promises.
Cut to Ridvan chasing after Pars as he leaves his office. Savcım, Savcım…please listen to me! Pars stops and says, I wonder why God put you in my life, Ridvan. Ridvan pleads, if you talk to Ilgaz, he will know I told you. He will be angry with me and Ozge. This is confidential information. Pars stops again, if it was confidential, why did you tell me? I don’t keep anything from you, Ridvan replies.
Ah, Pars says, you don’t? Ozge doesn’t keep anything from you, Iclal doesn’t keep anything from Ozge. What an organization! At this rate, everyone will know. You’re playing “Telephone”. If Yekta finds out, he’ll do a happy dance. Ridvan begs Pars not to mess with his future. [Turkish] Pars walks and says he’d rather talk to an alien, it would be more useful. [they cut Ozge confronting Ridvan because he told. She won’t forget this.]
Ceylin takes a taxi to her new house. [what happened to her car?] Ilgaz shows up. He wants to help with her bags. She can take care of it, but he grabs one anyway. She asks, why are you here? To pick up the things I left, he replies, and it’s nice to see you too. He says their hearing is in a few days. Judge Duygu will help.
She thought so. She asks, may I hug you one last time? Then she changes her mind and starts to leave the room. Ilgaz grabs her arm. He pulls her in… caresses…kisses. They are about to break in that new mattress. Song: Dinle Beni Bi'
Eren lets Pars know that Tugce is helping with Serdar. Pars calls it a day, but Eren says he’s staying to work. [Turkish] Pars quips, you’ve settled in here. Put a bed in here. Soon you will start farming. Put a pot by the window, plant onions and parsley. Agriculture.
Eren smiles and says, this is my life, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Pars says, go home! Call a friend! Eren insists being a cop is his life. [IIRC, he said that’s why his marriage ended]
Pars blurts out, Ilgaz and Ceylin are getting divorced. Eren is shocked. He didn’t think it would end up in court. He thought they were on a break. This isn’t a football match, Pars replies. [or Ross and Rachel, according to the Eng. caps]
Eren remembers Ilgaz said he would only get Ceylin back by finding the killer. Pars says to stop thinking about that and go look after your friend. Ilgaz needs one now. Eren says Ilgaz has two friends, it would be good if you came along. Your feelings towards us are platonic, but the feelings are mutual. They leave.
Ilgaz gets dressed. Ceylin sleeps in the bed. He slides in next to her and with a kiss on her head he whispers, hoşça kal, my love. He leaves. She wasn’t asleep.

Ilgaz is working on his van when Eren and Pars arrive. Eren scopes the situation and reports back to Pars. Snarky Pars calls him Eren 007 and tells him he needs to work on his espionage skills. Did you attend Spying 101 and Secret Missions 102?
Eren reports that Ilgaz is in the van banging away with the hammer. Pars is alarmed and jumps out of the car. Take the hammer away! Eren says to calm down, he’s just fixing things. Pars thought Ilgaz was having a nervous breakdown. Eren says they need an excuse to distract him for a while.
There is a very nice scene with Eren and Pars offering to help with the van. Beers are opened.
Ceylin wanders around the house with a glass of wine. She looks an Ilcey pic from a happier time.
Metin sits out on the balcony and spots Defne heading out to the van with her pillow and peluche. She cuddles up with Ilgaz.
Next morning, Ilgaz and Defne leave the house together. He offers to drive her to school but she says she’s meeting a friend. Defne asks if Ceylin is still mad at him. Yes.
Derya calls Ilgaz with bad news. There is another victim—Cagdas Muhter.
Ceylin is making tost when the doobell rings. It’s Defne. Did Ilgaz bring you, she asks? Nope. I came by myself, the girl replies. Defne likes the house. Ceylin asks how she got there. Defne answers, I checked your address on my brother’s phone and I followed the road. You looked at his phone without permission, Ceylin asks. What was I supposed to do, Defne says, he wouldn’t give me your address. She adds that she’s familiar with this street, it’s her brother’s favorite.
Does anyone know you’re here, Ceylin asks. No, they think I’m at school. Ceylin says she’s going to call them. Defne stops her. I’m not in danger, you’re not a stranger. You’re my SIL. Ceylin realizes the tost is burning.
Merve calls Parla with news on Serdar. He mentioned a place and told me to go there and ask for him. Let Tugce know and bring bathing suits. Serdar said we can get together and have fun. Parla worries about getting caught. We found him, Merve says, I can’t go alone!
Ceylin and Defne eat. The girl hadn’t had breakfast. She says her father and aunt don’t talk to each other and her father hardly leaves his room. Defne has a question. Are you mad at us? Who told you this, Ceylin asks. Ilgaz told me, Defne says, I wanted to live with you, but he said I couldn’t.
Why did you want to see me, Ceylin asks. To apologize, Defne replies. So you’ll forgive my father and brother. So you won’t be mad at us. Will you still be mad if they apologize? Ceylin says, I love you very much, but I can’t do that. The adults are handling this. It has nothing to do with you. Defne asks, do you still love my brother? Ceylin doesn’t answer that. She says it’s time to go.
Neva invites Cuneyt over for dinner and a movie at her place. [Ha, Netflix and chill? Do people still say that?]
Ceylin walks Defne home. Merdan is in the yard. He quickly tells Defne to go inside. Ceylin acknowledges Merdan and starts walking. He calls to her. You’re mad at Cinar, Metin and me. God knows you have the right. But what blame does Ilgaz have? What did he do to end up destroyed? He doesn’t fit anywhere. He’s sleeping in the van. Don’t do this to him. He doesn’t deserve it. Ceylin looks sad. She replies, we are all suffering very much. She leaves.
Ilgaz shows up at the crime scene. Eren says there were no firearms or sharp objects. They had dinner and went to bed, he was dead when they woke up. Ilgaz goes over to Cansu. She’s being treated and she’s in shock and can’t speak.
Derya is there too. Ilgaz asks if Cagdas was poisoned. Derya says it’s possible. The ME is on his way. Ilgaz thinks there is a connection between the cases. He asks, did you speak with the family of the boy who Cadgas was accused of killing? We did after Judge Kemal died, Eren replies, that family is a mess. The mother died of a broken heart after her son’s death. The father became ill. He was working when Kemal died. The sister is paralyzed.
Ilgaz says someone was very upset that Cagdas got out of prison. The judge, a committee member and Cagdas are dead. Ilgaz becomes alarmed and thinks of Ceylin. He calls her. Derya and Eren wonder what Ceylin has to do with this.
Ilgaz tells Ceylin to come to the courthouse. Cagdas was killed. If the murderer is getting revenge on those who helped Cagdas out of prison, you’re in danger.
Parla searches for her swimsuit. Aylin thought she was done with swimming. She questions Parla thinking she’s up to something. Parla takes off. Aylin shouts after her. If you’re up to something, you’ll be sorry!
Yekta waits with Rivdan in Pars’ office. He asks why Pars called him in. Speaking of Pars, he makes his entrance. He gets right to it. Your client, Serdar Deniz, was released, and we can’t find him. Do you know where he is? Yekta says his job is to defend him not babysit. He asks why they are looking for Serdar. Pars replies, we suspect he may have killed Zafer Erguvan. Not what Yekta wanted to hear.
Ilgaz arrives and asks Ozge if Ceylin is there. No. What about Pars? He’s interviewing Yekta.
Pars says they are finished. Yekta nervously asks how Serdar was linked to the murder. He’d like to see evidence. This is his client. Pars answers, your client is missing. Your POA was for a previous case. Find your client and make a new POA. Then I’ll gladly give you access.
Ilgaz enters Pars’ office. He asks to speak with Yekta. I know you tried to represent my brother. Yekta laughs and says he couldn’t help himself. You left him there. He didn’t even have a lawyer when he testified! Pars clarifies that Cinar refused one. You scared him so that he forgot his rights, Yekta replies, when I think about what you did for Ceylin, I pity him. He’s your brother, Ilgaz!
Ilgaz blows up. He grabs Yekta and pushes him against the wall. Yekta asks Pars and Ridvan to intervene. Pars calmly invites Ridvan to breakfast and they leave the room.
Yekta shouts at Ilgaz to let him go. Ilgaz tells him to shut his dirty mouth. I’m ashamed to deal with a non-lawyer like you, he cautions, stay away from my brother, my family, and most of all, Ceylin. Yekta warns that this is a crime. I’ll sue! Do it, Ilgaz dares, what are you waiting for?
Ilgaz holds Yekta tight. I know what you’ve done. I’ve let you get your way for too long. From now on, you better be careful. Ilgaz lets go and leaves. Once Yekta regains his senses, he calls out to Ilgaz in the hallway, see you in court! This isn’t over yet! You’ll see!
Aylin calls Ceylin and tells her Parla cut school. She was acting weird this morning. She went to one class and left. Ceylin says to keep calm. Maybe she’s at the movies. Aylin thinks they can use the locator app. Good idea. Ceylin will check and call back.
The girls are hanging with Serdar by the pool. He jumps in. There’s a table full of drinks and snacks. What is this place? Parla says she checked the menu, and everything is expensive. Isn’t this too much for Serdar? Tugce is grossed out by Serdar.
Serdar comes back and they drink. Merve asks Serdar, you didn’t know Cinar was arrested? He says he didn’t know. Tugce pipes up, you were always with him, even called him brother. What happened? I was in prison, Serdar explains, I had no way of contacting him.
Tugce gives the girls a look. She sends a message, their location, from her phone. Then she groans, mom! Mom! Tugce gets up to go and the girls go with her. Serdar asks what’s happening. Merve says Tugce’s mother is sick. She thanks Serdar, gives him a peck on the cheek, says I’ll call you. Tugce whispers to the others, let’s go before my dad gets here.
Eren checks his messages and takes off. He calls Ilgaz. Ceylin comes to see Ilgaz and he tells her they located Serdar at a hotel. Hotel Takir, she asks. Yep. Parla was just there, Ceylin says. Ilgaz says Eren called, Tugce told him.
Ilgaz and Ceylin drive. Ceylin calls the girls stupid, and Parla is the stupidest one. Why would they go see Serdar?
Eren and Ilcey arrive at the hotel. The clerk takes them up to the room. Serdar’s things are there but not Serdar.
Serdar is in the back of Cuneyt’s car changing into clothes. Where are we going, he asks. You’ll see. Serdar says those girls are his friends, they won’t tell anyone. They came because they missed me. I wanted to treat them. He thinks about it. Let’s say I made a mistake. Can you forgive me? Stop talking, Cuneyt orders. Yekta will decide.
Ceylin says she’s going back to her office. Ilgaz asks, what about Cagdas? Someone is out for revenge, and you could be a target, he tells Ceylin. Do you want me to confine myself, she snarks. Eren asks if this is really serious.
Ilgaz explains that Ceylin was Cagdas’ lawyer, and he was released thanks to her. She says don’t worry. The killer uses poison, and I won’t accept food from strangers. Do you think I need protection, she asks. Eren and Ilgaz answer in unison—yes! Ceylin puts her trust in her police friend.
Inci calls Ceylin. She’s at the office. Ceylin asks Eren to take her. She tells Eren that Parla and Tugce must be punished. Eren says no punishment. They only wanted to help. Why did they meddle, Ceylin asks. Sounds like someone I know, Eren replies. Ha, ha.
Ozge brings Derya a file from the AG. The case of Yesim Hayren, sister of Cihan who was murdered in 2020. She was in her third year of nursing school when she dropped out. Derya wonders, could she be using poison? She has medical knowledge. Derya calls Ilgaz to tell him.
Ilgaz says that Yesim suffered a stroke. How could she get around without calling attention to herself? Derya supposes Yesim could be working with someone else. She wants to visit Yesim Ilgaz wants to go along.
Eren drops Ceylin off. He asks her if they could go somewhere to talk. She answers no, I’m happy at home, thanks. Eren replies, when you asked me for a ride, I thought we were good. But okay, thanks. Ceylin says she was joking. Truth is, I feel like I’m going to explode. If you take me out, we can talk about what’s going on. I won’t refuse. This makes Eren happy. Kraliçem, you pick the place and order whatever you want.
Ilgaz calls Eren. He wants a team to follow Ceylin.
A tearful Inci asks Ceylin, how is Cansu? She’s fine, Ceylin replies, but Cagdas was murdered. How did it happen, Inci asks, is Cansu okay? Yes, she is. Ceylin tries to calm Inci and goes to get her some water. She leaves her own open bottle of water on the table.
Inci asks, when will Cansu return home? Does her family know? Ceylin says, she’s at the hospital. She isn’t well. She wasn’t mentally stable. Inci suddenly says she has to go to the hospital to support her friend. She bolts out the door. Inci is weird. And we get a shot of Ceylin’s hand on her water bottle. [could Inci be the killer or killer’s helper?]
Cuneyt arrives at the courthouse and Serdar panics. Someone could see me. Cuneyt barks, do what I ask, and wait here!
Cuneyt walks over to Yekta. He says Serdar is panicking. Yekta says that fool may have killed Zafer. Cuneyt asks, should we turn him in? Why would I turn in my toy, Yekta replies, Cinar is in prison, Ceylin and Ilgaz broke up. Should I hand him in? Never! I love to have them looking for him (Serdar) in vain. So why did we bring him to the courthouse, Cuneyt asks. To scare him, Yekta answers. It might loosen his tongue.
Serdar is afraid to get out of the car. He cautiously comes to Yekta. What the hell are we doing here? Yekta tells him he has to give a statement. Now Serdar is really panicked. No…I’m not. I have nothing to say. You didn’t do anything, Yekta says, you have nothing to fear. How’s that, Serdar replies, I buried that man. Please, I’ll be blamed!
Yekta assures Serdar that won’t happen. Let’s tell Pars what happened to poor Zafer. That way, this will end. Cuneyt, take him inside. The DA is expecting him. Serdar objects as Cuneyt leads him away. Wait, Yekta says, I think he has something to say. Yekta warns Serdar, this is your last chance. Speak now. Serdar hesitates for a few seconds then admits, I fired those two bullets. I killed him. You idiot, Yekta growls, get in the car now! Cuneyt hurry! Start the car!
At that moment, Pars exits the building. He spots Yekta in the car, calls out and walks over. Where are you going? Let’s have some tea inside. Let me ask your runaway client some questions. Step out or I’ll think you’re kidnapping this man. Pars calls Ridvan, send an officer to the courthouse. Yekta tries to play it off as if he was bringing Serdar in like he promised. He’s all yours. I found him in record time.
Ceylin is about to open and drink her water. Her phone rings. It’s Aylin. Parla is home. Do you know where she was? Ceylin apologizes. She forgot to call.
Derya and Ilgaz arrive at Yesim’s house. The father answers and lets them in. The father coughs and he takes a hit of oxygen from a tank. He tells Ilgaz, you arrested him, but the bastard was released. We know, Ilgaz replies, and we’re here to see how we can help you. Please catch him, the father says, if he’s not guilty, then find the murderer. Derya and Ilgaz look at each other.
Derya asks, do you live alone? I live with my daughter. Derya asks if she’s home. Yes, he replies, do you want me to call her. Ilgaz says yes, we’d like to talk to her. He calls. Yesim doesn’t come. Are you sure she’s home?
The father calls again. We see someone walking in a room, hiding clothes under a mattress, putting on a sweater and going to sit in a wheelchair. Yesim “wheels” herself out to the living room.
Ceylin mops the floor in her office. She picks up the water bottle. We get flashbacks about the poisoning cases, Cagdas, Cansu, Inci, Ilgaz warning Ceylin. I’m not sure if Ceylin drank any of that water.
We jump 6 months later again to a crime scene. Cops are searching in a dumpster and out on the street. Looks like a body bag is taken away.
Eren brings Ceylin to the “Forensic medicine institution, Istanbul regional directorate” He orders her out of the car. She sits and he gets angry—I said get out! Move! There’s blood on her clothes. Eren gets a call from a DA. Yes, I have her.
Eren hands Ceylin off to a med tech. The suspect is yours. Umut will bring the files. Get started, there’s no time to waste.
Umut shows up with the files. Something is troubling him. He says bloody fingerprints were found inside the dumpster. They are Ceylin’s. Eren is floored, literally. He sinks down.
The tech starts examining Ceylin and a cop takes pics.
Back to the present. There’s a knock at Ceylin’s door. It’s Metin. Can we talk?
Ilgaz and Derya listen. The father says first her brother, then her mother. I got sick after that. Yesim couldn’t cope. The doctors said she was depressed. She became ill. She had an infection in her spine. She walked into the hospital and left in a wheelchair. Yesim avoids everyone’s eyes.
Derya asks if there is any treatment. The father says he’s reached out to several doctors in the country, nothing can be done. When Cihan died, we all died with him. The bastard destroyed our family. Ilgaz says that Cagdas was murdered. The murderer is dead, the father asks. Yesim doesn’t immediately react. Then she looks at her dad and says, thank God!
The father asks how he died. Derya says poison. [does Yesim look nervous?] Ilgaz says Cagdas was released and then he was killed. I see you didn’t know. Who killed him, the father asks. God took his life, Dad, Yesim answers, we shouldn’t care who did it? Ilgaz says they are investigating. Yesim says she wants to make coffee. Derya says there’s no need. But the hosts insist. [Do you think Yesim wants to poison the DAs?]
Metin asks Ceylin if she’s been to the station. She says yes, but I don’t think you fit there anymore. I won’t let them retire you and hide what you did. I won’t let the state pay you a pension. Forget about benefits. Metin agrees. I wouldn’t let that happen, he says. It would be undignified. Ceylin says, when I think about what you’ve done and didn’t do, I can’t believe what you say.
I was told I was suspended and under investigation, Metin says, I’ll plead guilty and I won’t deny anything. When the trial ends, I’ll be dismissed. Ceylin says whatever needs to happen, will. It will be just.
Ilgaz asks how long Yesim has been like this. Eight months. Ilgaz notices crutches. Does she use them? The father says she’s tried but prefers the chair. Derya asks if she’s tried physical therapy. The father says they can’t afford it. Ilgaz looks at some meds. He asks, can she go out? Yesim comes back to the room and says she never goes out.
Derya helps with the coffee service. Yesim says she was very angry at first and then scared. I was trapped in my own home. Sometimes I go to the back door and get fresh air. Derya asks if this is why she dropped nursing school. I dropped out after my brother died, she replies. The father says Yesim loved her brother very much. Ilgaz asks about household chores. He cleans, she cooks.
Derya is about to drink the coffee and Ilgaz bumps into her. It spills. Ilgaz tells Derya he’s sorry, it was an accident. But he gives her a look to signal it wasn’t.
Ceylin opens the door for Metin to leave. There’s nothing left to talk about. He sees boxes marked “Ilgaz”. Ilgaz told me you filed for divorce. Don’t do it. It’s a shame. He would be so alone. If you let him go, he’ll self-destruct. Metin leaves. Ceylin rewinds Metin’s visit. She picks up the water bottle again. But puts it down when she sees her family’s picture on the desk.
Serdar nervously waits for his interview. Yekta is ticked. Look at me! Stop fidgeting! Get a hold of yourself and remember what you said. He tells Cuneyt to get water for Serdar. Yekta tries again. Pars is a tough DA. He won’t let anything slide. Tell him what you told me, what you first told me, down to the last detail.
Did I tell you that so you’d send me to prison, Serdar asks. Please don’t do this, I’m just a victim. [a victim of his own stupidity] Find a way! Save me! What a shame, Yekta says, you have a dull, useless mind. I’m not asking you to tell him everything. Just a bit of the story you first told me. Tell him everything except that you fired the gun twice. Omit the part where you killed Zafer.
Yekta can’t believe Serdar could take a life but gets nervous when telling a lie. He tells him to take deep breaths to relax. He really did count, “one Mississippi, two Mississippi…” lol.
Neva comes down the hallway. She walks right past Cuneyt without a word and into Pars’ office. Why haven’t you detained Yekta? Why should I, he replies, what reason? She quotes a law, protecting a criminal. Everyone is talking about you. You found them outside and brought them here!
Pars responds, Allah aşkına, Neva, don’t you know that man? It’s his game. He said “I’m handing him over to you.” I didn’t catch them at the border. Should I have said I have a feeling you’re helping Serdar escape? There are limits to what I can do.
It's ridiculous to know the truth but can’t prove it, Neva says. Here’s what’s worse, Pars replies, I can confidently say Serdar killed Zafer. Yekta knows and is covering for him. What do you mean, Neva asks, why would he do that?
He’s getting back at Ceylin for Engin’s death, Pars says, his ruined reputation. I don’t know how to label his obsession, but he wants Ceylin dead. He offered his services to Cinar. Think about the depth of his rancor. Yekta knows no bounds. Always expect him to do worse.
Pars continues, this is why I tell you to be careful with Cuneyt. Open your eyes. Look who he protects! You need to realize that! Stay away from him! She asks, what does this have to do with me? How am I involved? You never miss a chance! She walks out and walks past Cuneyt and gives him a dirty look.
Ilgaz gives the father his card. Call me or Derya whenever you want. God bless you, the man says, God bless our country and its people! Ilgaz says, if you remember anything please call us. We believe Cagdas’ murder is connected to the judge. Derya tells Yesim she can call her whenever she wants. And not just to talk about the case.
Outside, Derya asks Ilgaz if he spilled the coffee on purpose. Yes, I hope you understand I had safety concerns. You think it was spiked? Ilgaz says, it’s a shame we didn’t drink it, but I felt it was the right thing to do. There’s something wrong in that house, with that young woman.
We see Yesim standing, looking out her window.
And we are out.
Thank you, dondi356.
Ilgaz could have let divorce papers stay in his drawer a little longer. Just like the last time, things may blow over.
[or Ross and Rachel, according to the Eng. caps] lol.
Yesim is Inci, the "amiga" of Cansu. Very clever. Her "worry" about Cansu a few days ago was probably just an act to make Ceylin contact Cansu / Cagdas and follow her to find them and poison Cagdas. Today she just came to poison Ceylin.
Metin may have saved Ceylin's live. If he didn't knock she would have drunk the water. Will she or won't she drink from the bottle? They keep teasing us.
Thank you for the song link. Hercai also had several songs by Sezen Aksu.
Lucio, many thanks for confirming Inci is Yesim and explaining her plot! I thought they might be different people working together. That’s why she was so nervous when the DAs visited. Only Ceylin has seen Inci.
Ilcey is driving me crazy. I wonder how many times they will get “divorced” before this is over.
I know I’m a bad person for wanting Ceylin to take a sip of that water.
It is almost certain that Pars would have no idea who Ross and Rachel are, so that was an interesting translation.
I can’t recall watching a dizi without hearing at least one Sezen Aksu song. Cem Adrian is another artist who is a dizi staple.
Dondi, super job. I especially appreciate the detail on Cagdas, Tugce, Cansu, Yesim... as they're new to me since I started watching late in the game.
Lucio, thanks for your key addition on Inci > Yesim.
So Serdar was popular with the girls. Interesting.
Maybe Ilcey get pregnant on their way to divorce.
Marvelous recap, dondi! I was visiting a friend for a day and a half and had no chance to read your recap nor comment earlier. Barely getting it in before the page changes to Monday.
I get such a kick out of Pars. He has the fewest skills in courting a woman of any dizi or telenovela guy ever.
Something about the eclairs briefly made me think of Proust's madeleines.
I really enjoy Tugce's easy, teasing relationship with Eren. The combination of Eren's time with her plus his getting rid of evil stepfather has made her a different person.
I also wondered why Ceylin is getting around in a taxi. IIRC they even showed a blue car that looked like that in front of Gul's house.
I'm not sure if this Cagdas mystery adds anything to the dizi. Mostly, I just get confused. Thanks, Lucio, for clearing up Yesim, the supposed friend of Cansu, plotting to find Cagdas in order to (we think) poison him.
I loved Ilgaz grabbing Yekta. He's all mouth and no physical bravery at all.
Hmmm. Odd family relationships to me at least. I'd never have called my sister for help if my child misbehaved. Aylin just gets bug-eyed and unable to act.
Yekta definitely screwed up, hopefully the first of many such happenings. Bringing Serdar to the courthouse to scare him resulted in his being arrested and possibly putting Yekta himself in the soup. That sure was quick thinking on Yekta's part, saying he'd found him and was bringing him in. Gah!
