Sorry, I will have Thursday's recap up tomorrow morning and Friday's recap up on Sunday.
Thanks for your patience.
Never apologize, dondi. I hope you know how much our few commenters and probably some lurkers appreciate your fine recaps and your insight into Turkish culture and geography.
Quote for Turkish ep #37: "The cowards use tricks to trap, the brave fight with their heart." - Ceylin Erguvan Kaya
Ceylin enters the hotel, goes to the front desk, and gets the keycard. Ilgaz, Pars and Eren watch the footage from a nearby van.
Ceylin is stopped by a woman who is with the bride and groom. Can you take our picture? She does, and the woman asks her to take another. Then she is asked to take a selfie with them. [that’s a weird ask]
Next, Ceylin heads to the elevators. It takes a while to get one that she can ride alone with the cop. She gets out at the 6th floor and her phone rings. It’s Aylin, who complains to her about Gul eating all the cake [in the Turkish she ate all the dolma.] Ceylin quickly ends the call.
Down the long hallway and Ceylin enters the room. Pars says she has 30 seconds to make the drop and exit. Ilgaz hops out of the van for air. Ceylin looks around the room, then places the knife in the drawer.
Ilgaz overhears a couple of cops saying that since this is a DAs wife, just about every cop in the city is here. If something happens, we will be left unprotected. Ilgaz spots a drone overhead.
Ceylin is about to leave the room, when the phone rings. She hesitates, then answers. A disguised voice says, if you want to see me, I’m in the parking garage. Come alone and get rid of everyone else. Use the service elevator.
What to do? Ceylin thinks back. Ilgaz told her he’s scared something would happen to her. Pars told her this is the only chance to catch the killer. Ilgaz said, you’ll follow instructions, won’t you?
Meanwhile, Ilgaz calls his father. Are you still in the hospital? Yes. Ilgaz is very worried and tells Metin to go to Mehmetcan’s room immediately.
Ceylin heads for the elevators. The door opens, and Ceylin stands there. Did she go in?
Metin rushes to the ICU. Mehmetcan is not in his bed. Mujde comes back and finds Metin standing there. Where is my son? Metin calls Ilgaz with the bad news.
The elevator reaches the lobby, but there’s no Ceylin. Pars notes she didn’t follow instructions, she was supposed to take the same elevator. Maybe she took the other one, Eren says. Nope, Ceylin is not in that one either, only hotel guests.
Ilgaz flips and runs into the hotel. Eren starts yelling over the radio—where the hell is Ceylin? The cops on the floor saw her head to the elevator.
Ceylin thinks about the phone call. We see she managed to sneak out of sight of the cops, who thought she took the elevator.
Ilgaz goes to the 6th floor. Ceylin heads towards the service elevator. Eren, Pars and more cops run into the hotel. Eren contacts Ilgaz and tells him Ceylin was spotted in the hall. She’s headed to the service elevator.
Ceylin gets to the elevator and there is a sign it’s out of order. She presses the button anyway! The door opens and she gets in. just before the door completely closes, and arm comes through. It’s Ilgaz. Ceylin, where are you going? She tells him about the call. Who is it, he asks. The killer, she replies, It’s the killer!
Ilgaz pulls her out of the elevator. She argues with him. Let me go! The killer is downstairs! I have to go! He says she’s hysterical and crazy. You get in a broken elevator because someone told you to? She thinks the sign was there to keep others away.
Eren and Pars show up. Pars asks, where is he? Downstairs and about to get away, she replies. Let’s go together, she shouts. Ilgaz tells her this is all a game. No one is here. They kidnapped Mehmetcan. The elevator door closes, and it plunges to the bottom.
The taxista who brought Yekta to the house is furious. He bangs on the door. Yekta grabs a vase and opens the door. He tells the driver to be civilized. Have some decency. Give me my money, the driver shouts, because if you don’t, I’ll show you how civilized I can be.
Yekta takes out his phone and shows him the vase he’s holding is worth a fortune. He gives the driver the vase as payment. He tells him a story that it’s from Topkapi Palace and over 180 years old. Take it to the antique shop and you’ll get good money. The driver isn’t happy but he calms down. Yekta quickly closes the door.
And Yekta quickly makes himself at home. Puts on slippers, plays the phonograph, pours himself a drink and dances around the house.

Pars questions Ceylin about the call. What did the caller say? Was it a man, woman? Young or old? Ceylin couldn’t tell. They used a voice changer. It didn’t sound human. Eren says it was a set up.
Our group gets in an elevator. Eren tells Ceylin God saved her. Pars scolds her for not following instructions. Wouldn’t you have done the same, she fires back. I thought at least you’d thank me. When whoever it was told me they were downstairs, I thought it was my chance. Pars asks if they called her by name. No.
Ilgaz is angry at Ceylin. That chance could have gotten you killed! You can’t look at this so simply! He turns to Pars, how dare you ask about instructions as if you are not responsible! Ilgaz grabs Pars. He blames him for getting Ceylin involved. He threatens Pars, if anything happens to Ceylin… What would you do, Pars asks, you’d kill me? Eren has to separate them.
A team of cops arrive at the hospital along with Derya. She questions Metin. He tells her he’s not a witness. He happened to be here with his boss, and he got to the ICU afterward. Ilgaz knew, he called when he suspected something, Metin says, I came to check, and the room was empty.
Derya turns to the cops on duty. You must have seen something, anything suspicious. They hang their heads. A cop swears there was nothing. When the boy woke up, the nurse took him for a scan, we went to the hallway and waited outside. The elevator was full, so I told the nurse to get on and I took the stairs down 5 floors. Then I checked the scan room, and it was empty. I checked everywhere and didn’t see anything.
Derya heads off to look at the security video. Chief Rafet shows up. He walks past Metin with no acknowledgment.
Eren gives the order to search the parking garage. Ilgaz tells him no one is here. They called Ceylin to get her on the elevator. We took the bait!!
Umut updates Pars. Derya is investigating at the hospital with the chief.
Ilgaz asks about the drone. They are still investigating that. Eren has an update. Nothing significant was found at the hotel. But the elevator hadn’t been working for 2 days. Pars loses it and unleashes on Eren. Then he asks about the call to Ceylin. Eren says the caller used an overseas line. They were never here.
Ilgaz tells Eren they need to find Mehmetcan. Let’s go to the hospital. Ceylin pipes up, I’ll go too. Ilgaz is against it. One, it’s a crime scene, two, you’re not their lawyer, three, we have a deal. I’ll be there as a civilian, she answers, Mujde needs my support. Ilgaz says no. Ceylin persists. Ilgaz tells Umut to take Ceylin to the station for a statement and don’t let her leave until he returns.
Ceylin calls Tolga. Unavailable. She leaves a message, why is your phone off? First lesson: a lawyer never turns off their phone. Get to the hospital, Mehmetcan’s been kidnapped.
Derya and Rafet review the footage. They see the boy being taken to the elevator and the cop heading for the stairs. They forward the recording and see the boy taken off the elevator and through some doors. And then he’s brought out again and taken out of the hospital.
Rafet says this is how they got Mehmetcan out, and nobody there asked who gave the order to move him. Derya says they had written authorization. What did you expect? It ordered a patient transfer. We need to find the person who infiltrated the system, pulling strings from a distance. We see the cop checking the scan room and the boy isn’t there. Derya asks to see the exit. Two ambulances leave the hospital. Which one was the boy in?
Umut and Ceylin drive. He tells her the DA was scared. She knows. You survived, he says, this job requires courage. Many people died, Ceylin responds, including the AG’s sister, the closest person to Pars. And now Mehmetcan. If I got another call, I wouldn’t hesitate to go back there and I wouldn’t be afraid. But that coward wasn’t there. He couldn’t face me. He hides and disgustingly preys on others.
She continues, my sister’s killer was a scumbag, a coward who deserved to die. That’s why I hate them all. She shares this on her social media: “The cowards use tricks to trap, the brave fight with their heart.”
Quiet and awkward silence on the drive to the hospital for the DA, AG and cop. Eren puts on the radio. Ilgaz shuts it off.
Yetka is about to take a good night’s sleep in a clean and comfy bed, when his phone rings. Unknown number. He chooses not to answer. It rings again. lol, it’s Lacin calling. She’s watching him on her laptop through the camera installed in the room. Get out of that bed right now! Now!
Lacin? She tells Yekta to get out of that house now. How dare you still be there! He looks around and spots the camera. She continues, you got my note. Didn’t you read it? Why are you still there? This is my house, understand? Only mine.
Ah, Lacin, Yekta replies, the money in the safe was mine. What happened to it? Get that money and bring it to me now. She snarks, I’ll be right there dear, and adds, don’t be stupid. Get out of that house! What a shame. You fell apart earlier than I expected. Next your memory is going to go.
Lacin has a reminder for Yekta. The government and I split your riches, right down the middle. So if the house is mine, everything in it including the safe is automatically mine. So what’s left for you? I’ll remind you… nothing. Not even if you get on your knees and beg.
Yekta says he’s running out of patience. He’s fed up with the way she’s talking to him. Becoming a Tilmen was the best thing you could have done for your own interests, but you abandoned it like a fool. Let me remind you that I am still Yekta Tilmen! Don’t force me to do anything that goes beyond your imagination. My revenge knows no limits! Get that money and bring it right now!
I don’t have to give you a cent, Lacin replies, don’t even bother to take out the trash. It’s over. She forgot to tell him—you have two minutes to get out of the house. I won’t allow you to shower there. Go. I’m watching you.
Yekta hangs up and laughs and climbs into bed. Suddenly, sirens go off. The police are coming. Yekta scrambles to gather his things and is out the front door. Lacin enjoys a glass of wine with the show.
A 112 operator receives a call. I’ve located Mehmetcan, the kidnapped boy. I know where he is, he was taken from the hospital. The op asks for the caller’s name. Burak Yildirim. She asks for his address.
Pars, Derya and Rafet are outside the hospital. Pars grumbles about the trap that was set for them. Derya refers to it as a clean, brilliant plan. That fuels Pars’ anger. Should we applaud? Give him a prize when we catch him? How could no one ask where that order came from?
Derya answers back. I tried to explain last night, why would anyone question orders? The doctor gave instructions, and the nurse carried them out. They have a few more words and Pars is done arguing. Rafet, who has been quietly listening, tells Umut he’s going to the station.
Pars has words for Rafet too. Go reprimand those cops that were supposed to be on guard. Derya warns Pars, if you keep acting this way, you will not get anything at all.
Rafet gets in his car but watches what’s happening outside the hospital. I know someone on the patio thought Rafet was a suspicious character. It shows here.
Ilgaz and Eren come outside. They’re going to the surveillance center. They checked two ambulances, but they couldn’t contact the driver of the third. Pars is pessimistic. He says the boy was taken to silence him. He’s going to kill him and throw him in a well before we can find him. Derya tells him not to think like that. There’s still hope. She tells Ilgaz she’s coming with him.
Pars continues to bitch about everything. Ilgaz tells him, let’s calm down. Let’s prioritize. Let’s deal with Mehmetcan first. Pars argues it’s all tied together. Whoever took Mehmetcan also conspired against Ceylin and killed my sister and threw her in a well! We don’t even know the connection between the victims.
Ilgaz reiterates, let’s find Mehmetcan first. Then we will look at everything else, without missing anything. We’ll analyze everything with all we got and solve the case. We must remain calm. We won’t win if we don’t. Rafet is still in his car, observing, then he goes.
Derya says the culprit is well organized. Ilgaz thinks he might have help. Maybe a doctor, a staff member, Derya suggests. Eren says it could be part of a criminal group….one that’s killing people and throwing the bodies in a well.
Pars wants to review Neva’s files. Derya says she checked up on Elif Yavas, the girl who died. She was in a car accident and escaped. She was about to testify but disappeared on the way. Pars is still venting out of frustration. We can’t even ID the bodies! They fire missiles at us, we work with spears. We’re in the Stone Age!
Metin and Haluk exit the hospital. Metin takes a good look at our group. He tells Haluk that he’s a witness and needs to go over to speak with the DAs. Metin approaches the group and asks if he can be of any help. Ilgaz says no, and he leaves with Eren and Derya.
Metin tells Pars he was concerned about Neva. The last time I saw her, she wasn’t well. She hasn’t answered her phone and I’m worried. Pars asks, when was the last time you saw Neva?
Eren gets a call. Derya rushes back to Pars. We received a tip about the boy. Somebody knows his whereabouts. Derya thinks Pars will come but he says to let Ilgaz and Eren handle it. He wants Derya to stay behind, too. She wants to go with Ilgaz. Pars is worried for her and about what they will find. He tells her she can’t go. He insists. Eren and Ilgaz drive off without her.
Derya accuses Pars of playing favorites. He involved Ceylin. She asks, is that how your sense of justice works? He explains he sent Ceylin because her name was on the note. This is not the case here. As AG, I don’t want you there. Go investigate Elif Yavas, the witness to the accident. That might lead us to the killer. Derya utters an irritated, as you wish, sir. Pars is just as irritated when he sends her off—And nobody questions my sense of justice.
Pars asks Ridvan to cancel all his appointments for the day. He’s going to the station with Metin. Haluk leaves without Metin.
Ceylin is still at the station. She’s asleep at Eren’s desk.
Pars and Metin enter the station. Officers stand and greet the former chief. It’s a little uncomfortable for Metin. Pars asks him to wait a minute in Eren’s office. Metin notices Ceylin sleeping. He accidentally wakes her up.
Ceylin asks her FIL, where is Ilgaz? He doesn’t know. Then she asks, why are you here? Pars asked him to come. Cinar comes in with tea and simit on Ilgaz’s request. Ilgaz calls Ceylin from Eren’s car. She steps out to take the call.
Ilgaz tells her not to wait at the station. They will take her statement tomorrow. She wants to know what’s going on. He repeats, don’t wait. Go home, we’ll talk later. She asks about Mehmetcan—please tell me he’s alive. I’ll send and officer to take you home, he replies, and he will keep watch outside the door.
Ceylin comes back inside the station and watches Pars and Metin talk in Eren’s office.
Pars asks, where did you see Neva? It’s been about 2 weeks I suppose, Metin replies, I saw her at the airport. Pars snaps back, you suppose? Was it two weeks or not? Where did you see her? Think about it. Was anybody with her? Was she alone? How was she acting?
Metin asks, what’s wrong? Pars tries to hold back from crying, my sister… she was killed. Metin is stunned.
Eren coordinates with other officers. Everyone will arrive at the place in 10 minutes. Eren says according to the tip, the ambulance ended up in a clinic, but there’s no sign of Mehmetcan. Ilgaz wonders why he would be taken from a hospital to a clinic. He asks who phoned in the tip. Eren replies, a reporter from the station, Burak Yildirim.
We see Ceylin walking. [What happened to the cop who was supposed to bring her home?] She’s on the phone with an upset Mujde. She assures her that they will find her son. I promise they are doing all they can. Please don’t cry. She tells Mujde, calm down. I’m going back to the station. I won’t leave until I hear something.
Metin tells Pars he didn’t know. Ilgaz didn’t tell him. I would have talked to you, he says. Pars tells him it’s a confidential investigation. That’s why. Metin says Ilgaz did the right thing, since I no longer have a connection to the station. That was the last time I saw Neva.
Now tell me everything you saw, Pars asks, I need to know every detail. Metin says he doesn’t know much. I went to the airport to pick up my boss. He was returning from a trip to Dalaman. Pars asks, were they on the same plane? Yes, Metin replies, my boss saw her. She was sitting two rows in front of him and according to him, she cried the whole flight.
Pars asks, he just volunteered that info? No, Metin answers, I asked him. I saw Neva at the airport. She didn’t look good. We see the flashback. She didn’t see me, but I called to her and asked if she was okay. She looked at me and took a cab without a word. That’s when my boss showed up. He saw me talking to her and asked if I knew her. That’s when he told me. I asked him if he knew anything else but he didn’t.
Metin laments, I wish I never let her go. I wish I asked what’s wrong, but I let her go. Pars asks about the plate on the taxi. Metin wasn’t able to see it, but he did notice the windshield was cracked. Pars asks if he saw anything else. No, Metin says, if you need anything else, let me know. I know it’s confidential, but I haven’t lost all my skills. In case you need help from the outside. Pars thanks him. Interesting that Pars calls Metin “baba” in this exchange. And when Metin leaves, he tells Pars he considers himself a like father to him. uh, oh is Pars having trouble with his hand?
Ceylin is back at the station. I think she’s trying to listen as Pars tells Umut to check the taxis that were at the airport on Sept 10 at 11a. Neva got into one with a cracked windshield. Find it and the driver. I want to know where she went, the route they took. Pars leaves the station, he walks right past Ceylin without acknowledging her. She thought better than to stop him there.
Ceylin brings tea to Pars, who is sitting at a table outside the station. Are you okay, she asks. Forget about me, he replies, are you okay? She says she’s fine. Pars thanks Ceylin. Nobody would have done what you did. It took a lot of courage, thank you. She replies, if you were to ask if I’d do it again, my answer is clear… I would.
Tolga arrives and Ceylin spots him. He signals for her to come. Umut calls Pars away. And Ceylin gets up and enters the station.
Tolga speaks with an officer. Ceylin is listening in. He asks for DA Ilgaz. He’s not at the courthouse. Tolga shows his ID and says he has a question about a file. The cop tells Tolga to wait and ask the DA when he gets here.
Ceylin sends Tolga a text. Tolga takes out his phone, he reads Ceylin’s message—First, never turn off your phone. Second, don’t look at me when I’m around. Remember, we don’t know each other. Third, find out where Ilgaz is and when he shows up, don’t let him leave. Find out if there’s news about Mehmetcan. Ha, ha, so what does Tolga do, he looks over at Ceylin.
A cop comes over to Ceylin and tells her Ilgaz gave him orders to take her home. Ceylin says she needs to use the bathroom first. She heads down a hallway and has to avoid Chief Rafet. She waits in the hall. Not sure what she was trying to do here. She was waiting in front of the Computer Crimes office. Then she walks back.
Pars is with the IT guy. They are following what Neva did that day. The video shows she went to the park, then they lost sight of her behind some trees. Ten minutes later she leaves the park, gets in a taxi and goes home. Is that all, Pars asks. That’s it. The IT guy says he identified the person who started following her when she left the park. It’s Yekta Tilmen.
We see Cinar’s friend, Burak the reporter, the one who called 112, on a bench, waiting with his camera ready.
Ceylin tells the cop she has to stop by the office to call Ilgaz. The cops says it’s not a problem as long as they are together. She tries really hard to get rid of the cop. He tells her she can make her calls from the car, he won’t eavesdrop.
Pars rushes out of the station and calls to Ceylin. He says, I need your help. I know we scared you, but if you say no, I’ll handle it myself. That’s why I want to tell you right now. I need to find Yekta Tilmen. Do you have his address?
Ceylin says the last time she saw him was at Lacin’s house. But he doesn’t know where he is staying. She knows someone who does. Pars says let’s go. She doesn't move. You’re going to tell me everything, she says. Don’t pressure me, Pars replies. Ceylin comes but says, at least tell me if Ilgaz is after Mehmetcan. Yes, yes, let’s go! Ceylin gets in Pars’ car.
The cops arrive at the clinic and Burak is on the bench across the way. He starts sneaking pictures. Eren gives instructions to everyone. Let’s grab Mehmetcan and get out. No one gets hurt.
Davut, Ceylin’s designated escort, calls Ilgaz and tells him she left with Pars. He doesn’t know where they went. Ilgaz says he’s going to kill Pars. Ilgaz calls Ceylin and Pars tells her not to answer. She doesn’t. Derya calls Pars. Ceylin tells him not to answer. He puts his phone away. They’re going to kill us, Ceylin says. There’s no escaping fate, Pars replies.
Ilgaz and Eren go to the front desk and ask for Mehmetcan Demir. The receptionist says he’s not at the clinic. Ilgaz says he was transferred at 1:30. The woman says there was a transfer at that time, but his name is Selim Icmet. Eren says he checked in under a different name. Room 2104. Our guys open the door and… it’s Mehmetcan. He’s alive.
Metin comes home. Ayten is moving in. He’s surprised she’s moving in so quickly. She tells him she doesn’t get much time off from work, so she did it while she had the chance. Metin asks if there is anything he can help with. She says that she couldn’t get the electric to work but Merdan Amca helped. Merdan appears and says it was a blown fuse. [Not sure what Merdan thinks of Ms. Ayten.]
Ilgaz tells Mehmetcan they are getting him out of there and taking him to a hospital with his mother. She really misses you. You must miss her too. The boy is listening but hasn’t spoken a word. Ilgaz continues, later we will have some questions and have a little chat. Mehmetcan utters a uh-huh and nods. Ilgaz says he’s stepping outside for a moment.
Eren shows Ilgaz the transfer paperwork. Everything was done according to procedure. The clinic accepted him and put him in this room. No one showed up for him, Ilgaz asks. No, Eren replies, everything was done remotely and precisely, like a Swiss watch. They need to find the ambulance driver. Ilgaz says there must be footage.
The question is why the boy was kidnapped. Eren says, like Pars, I thought the boy would be killed. He wanted him alive and isolated. Ilgaz says they can’t keep the boy here or send him back to the same hospital. Take him to a secure hospital immediately. Keep it under wraps.
As she leaves the house, Aylin calls Ceylin. Mom’s going crazy [what else is new?] She said the rolls [in Turkish it was sarma] burned and the house smells like smoke. But I don’t smell anything. She threw out a whole tray. Ceylin snaps at her sister. I don’t have time for this, I’m very busy. We’ll talk later. Aylin replies, you said that yesterday and never called. Ceylin says she’ll call, just watch mom.
Osman tails Aylin.
Ceylin has brought Pars to Merdan’s place. Merdan welcomes them. I hope you’re here for a good reason. Ceylin tells him they are looking for Yekta. We thought you might know where that snake is hiding. Merdan wonders what makes them think he knows. She replies, I thought you were still in touch. You said so on my birthday.
Pars wants to get to the point, where is Yekta? Merdan admits he knows where Yekta is because it’s his duty to protect his whole family.
Burak takes pics of Mehmetcan leaving the clinic and put into an ambulance. They are taking him to a place where he and his mother will be the only ones on the floor. Ilgaz says to notify his mother and lawyer.
Ilgaz sneaks up on Burak. Who are you and what are you doing here? I’m Burak, he replies, I called in the tip. Ilgaz wants Burak taken to the station for a statement. Don’t get the wrong idea, Burak says, I’m just chasing the news. Ilgaz says to take his camera.
Tolga calls Ceylin while she’s riding in Pars’ car. [The contact name in her phone is bıldırcın – quail.] He tells her they want Mehmetcan’s statement. Ceylin exclaims, they found him?! She catches herself. We’ll talk later. Pars asks and she tells him Mehmetcan was found. He asks, how did you know before I do? Who told you? Then Eren calls Pars with the news.
Pars asks Ceylin, you’re not that family’s lawyer, are you? I’m not, she replies, but there’s more to it than just being his lawyer. His mother and I have history. That’s why she called me.
A delivery man with flowers is looking for an address outside Ceylin’s office building. Aylin takes them. Osman is watching from around the corner. The flowers are for her from that slimy Cetin.
Yekta is shaving. His face and hands are full of lather and the water has stopped working. He goes to the store owner to complain. The owner says the water will be back on tonight. Yekta gripes, am I to stay like this? You’re a big boy, the owner replies, you’ll figure it out. Yekta keeps complaining. The owner says he’s free to go if he doesn't like it.
Pars and Ceylin arrive at the store. Is this it? Maybe he’s upstairs? Ceylin is pleased Yekta that ended up in such a place. They enter the store and Ceylin says they are looking for Yekta. Pars identifies himself as the AG. The owner gets up immediately to show the way.
Yekta laughs when Pars and Ceylin enter. Look who’s here! What brings you two here? You missed me so much you came to visit? Pars gets to the point. You met with Neva two weeks ago. Why? Yekta says that was a private matter between us. She called me and wanted to meet. Yekta tells Pars, ask your sister. It would be rude if I exposed her secrets.
Pars grabs Yekta and gives him a good shake. Start talking, you bastard! Ceylin has to pull him away. Pars shouts, you’re the last person to see Neva. You met her two weeks ago. Why? Yekta has no idea what Pars means by “last”. He says Pars is committing a crime. You can’t treat me like this, he says. Pars goes after him again. Ceylin shouts for Pars not to take the bait. Yekta says he’ll sue. If you suspect me of a crime, take me in for my statement.
Tolga shows up at the hospital. Are you taking his statement? Not officially, Ilgaz replies, the doctors have to examine him and then we will speak to him if the doctor allows it. The doctor comes out and says Mehmetcan is doing well. But he doesn’t think Ilgaz will get much info out of him. Don’t pressure him. Our psychiatrist will accompany you.
Everyone enters Mehmetcan’s room. The psychiatrist says we are going to have a little chat, okay? This is the DA, the other is a policeman. The man over there is your lawyer. They found you and took you to your mother.
Ilgaz explains, the police were looking for you for two weeks. You didn’t return home after school. Somebody stopped you. We need you to tell us who detained you and where you were taken so we can catch them. Tolga looks especially interested in Mehmetcan’s answer.
And we are out.
Thank you, dondi356.
Ceylin hasn't learned anything. She already followed a killer - Engin - on her own and the result was a disaster. And what was she going to do with the killer in the garage? Alone, unarmed? Only one thing, get in trouble.
Good to see Yekta one step behind Lacin.
Our team has been duped twice this episode. They better shape up!
Thanks for the song link.
Thanks so much, dondi, for another terrific recap. I'm starting to think the theme of this season of the dizi is "suspect everyone". That's what I'm doing, with the definite exception of Ilgaz. Kaan Urgancioglu has now risen to be one of my favorite dizi actors. Someone here said he was a villain in one, but I didn't see that one. He's always the smartest guy in the room. He has impeccable ethics, sometimes verging on obstinacy. But I like that about him. I also liked his going after Pars after quite a while being patient with Pars erratic behavior. Ilgaz can only accept so much behavior out of his code of honor.
Yes, indeed, that new Chief Rafet is more and more suspicious. Where did he even come from? Why didn't the estimable Eren get the job? Rifat's default expression is a scowl.
OK, I know it's standard in any kind of mystery plot for the main villain to come up with baffling actions. But that whole caper of moving Mehmetcan kind of seemed ridiculous to me. How could anyone arrange all those ambulances and genuine seeming paperwork?
Of course I'm also suspicious of Tolga. He seemed to make eye contact with Mehmetcan in an odd way...telling him to keep quiet?
So, so satisfying to see Lacin outwit Yekta at every turn!
They've also showed some closeups of Huluk looking cryptic. Another suspect?
Pars has managed to alienate Derya, and she wasn't best pleased at his using his AG authority to "protect" her from going with the team.
Is Burak just an over-zealous reporter or is there more to it? He was the one who leaked the fact that there was a survivor from the well and where he was hospitalized. That is just inexcusable, and I wish someone would call him on it. I was glad to see Ilgaz take his camera.
Yes, Pars' hand is definitely twiching. I keep expecting him to go down with a grand mal seizure from all the stress and grief.
Ayten seemed a lot less suspicious in the moving-in scene. Merdan has his eye on her, but maybe she's just a nice person. Is she too young to be a love interest for Metin?
Thanks, Lucio and novelera.
Lucio, IMHO Ceylin will be like this until the end. But will it be a bad end or a good end?
novelera, I also think highly of Kaan U. He was great as the baddie in Kara Sevda/Amor Eterno. I saw him on Netflix in "Love 101" and a movie "In Good Hands." There's going to be a sequel to that movie. He was in an episode of "Jack Ryan" and had a small role in an English film, but I haven't seen either of them.
Also enjoying Lacin getting the better of Yekta.
Just like in the first season, the plot is set up for multiple suspects.
Friday recap coming now.
Ilgaz asks Mehmetcan who took him and where he was taken. Mehmetcan looks at all the faces around him. Does he linger a bit on Tolga? Does Tolga give him a slight signal? Is it only my imagination? Mehmetcan finally answers, I don’t remember anything.
Aylin is elated over the flowers from Cetin. The doorbell rings and she rushes to the door. She deflates when she sees it’s Osman. He arrives with simit for breakfast. I’ve already eaten, she tells him and is ready to close the door. He slides right in. Then I’ll have breakfast alone. She asks him what he wants.
Osman talks about Parla’s schooling. The schools are too expensive for him. Aylin insists he find a way to pay. You know how much I make, he says, do the numbers. Of course I want her to go. He adds, you’re renting the house, could you pay part?
Aylin gripes, you want me to give you the little money I have? My father is gone, Ceylin’s not around. Who do you think pays the rent? Osman says he also pays rent. Aylin tells him to find another job. If you have time for breakfast, drive a cab or something. It’s not easy to find a job, he replies. That’s your problem, Aylin responds. Parla wants to study and if you keep her from studying, we will have a problem. You weren’t a good husband, be a good father.
Osman says he’ll figure it out. He asks for some tea so he can eat the simit. Aylin goes to get the tea and Osman swipes the card from the flowers. When Aylin returns, he asks her about the flowers. She says she bought them for herself.
Pars leads Yekta out of the store. Yekta complains all the way to the car. [I’m actually finding Yekta amusing now that he’s down and out.]
Ozge tells Derya they know who was responsible for the accident. A famous singer. He turned himself in afterwards. Ozge hands Derya his statement. He hit a car. I was drunk and panicked and left the scene. When I learned I caused the deaths of a father and son, I hid. It was on the news. I couldn’t deal with the pain of destroying a family. I decided to make it right and turn myself in. I want to serve my punishment and never have my songs played again. I deserve to be forgotten. Orhan Utsak.
Mehmetcan’s doctor says he expected this could happen. He asks the psychiatrist for her opinion. Likely post traumatic memory loss. It’s common. Ilgaz says it can be cured. We’ve dealt with this memory loss due to head trauma before.
The doctor says they will begin treatment and run tests. The psychiatrist adds it’s possible the boy feels psychologically pressured. He might never recover his memory. Or it could take a long time. No way to know. Ilgaz asks them to do what they can. Mehmetcan is our only witness. The doctors start planning the treatment. Tolga comments, I guess he won’t be giving a statement. Ilgaz looks at Tolga and quips, you’re a genius. [I can’t figure out what Tolga is thinking. They make him look suspicious.]
Osman leaves the office. He looks at the card and says, I don’t believe this jerk. [unfortunately, Aylin does]
Ozge is trying to pry info from Ridvan. She says, I won’t tell anybody. Ridvan says he doesn’t know anything, but his look gives him away. And it looks like something serious to Ozge. She asks, is she dead? No answer. Derya is walking down the hall and she sees them. Ozge asks, is judge Neva dead? Ridvan says yes. Ozge gasps and starts to cry.
Derya calls Ozge. Did you get bad news? Derya tells both of them to come to her office. She reprimands them for gossiping. How could you Ridvan? Ozge says she forced him. She saw Neva’s name all over the file with no explanation.
Derya also reminds them to keep their private life separate from the job. Justice comes before anything and anyone else. If anyone heard what you were talking about, many people could get hurt. Ozge explains, but we all love Judge Neva. If this was any other case, I’d agree, but she’s one of us. Derya replies, she was my friend, too. Confidentiality is the key to this case. We can’t afford to be blinded by pain. Get back to work. Don’t cry in the hallway.
Cinar sees Burak in the station. They’ll talk later.
Yekta is brought in. Pars goes with him to Eren’s office. Ceylin isn’t allowed in. She takes a seat across from Burak. He tells her he saw her post and liked it. Who are you, she asks, how do you know me? I’m Burak, a crime reporter. We all know you. You even have a nickname. He says whoever upset you, you made them pay. Once I find them, she replies, that’ll be nothing compared to what I’ll do. She asks, what’s my nickname? The storm in heels, he answers. They laugh.
Tolga calls Ceylin. He’s ticked she hasn’t answered his calls. Because you have terrible timing, she says. He tells her they were unable to get a statement from Mehmetcan. He doesn’t remember. The doctors said it could be permanent.
Yekta complains about the stuffiness in Eren’s office. Pars will not let him open a window. He asks Yekta if he needs a lawyer. Yekta laughs, who better to represent me but myself. Pars asks him to start. Yekta gets cute and Pars slams the desk. Don’t play games! Start talking. Pars’ hand is shaking.
Yekta starts, two weeks ago I woke up to a phone call from Neva. She said she wanted to meet and I needed to keep it a secret. I couldn’t turn down a judge, so I said yes. We decided to meet in the park. I showed up before her. She was a mess. It turns out that when I was arrested, Neva’s bastard boyfriend, Cuneyt, abused my trust and stole from my company.
Yekta goes off track to complain about this. Pars quickly gets him back on track. That fool Cuneyt took the money to the safest place he knew, Neva’s house. Neva found out and asked me for help. She wanted me to take the money. It was my money, it was stolen from me. We made a deal. We agreed to meet at the same park at night. She never came, but I was there. You can check.
Pars asks if Yekta spoke to her again. She never called, Yekta replies, I couldn’t get in touch. Now I’m wondering, where’s my money? Pars asks, is that all she said? Was she followed? Was she afraid of somebody? Did you notice anything? Yekta answers, like I said, she was a mess. She couldn’t stop crying and seemed very unhappy.
Pars says he doesn’t care about what happened between Neva and Cuneyt. Give me something to work with. Yekta doesn’t have anything else. Pars is upset. Yekta wants to go. Pars says Yekta will stay until the statement is filed. Yekta complains he hasn’t eaten… I’ll take tea and tost. Pars tells Umut to take Yekta to holding and feed him.
Ceylin asks Pars if he got anything from Yekta. No. Yekta complains about his treatment. He talks about his missing money again. Burak listens. Is it yours or did you steal it, Pars asks. We can investigate.
Osman goes to the florist to find out who sent the flowers to Aylin. Osman has to fork over some TL for an answer. The florist remembers the guy. He was elegant. He bought the bouquet and paid cash. He gave us the delivery address and left. The florist says the flowers cost 1,600 TL.
Burak is called for his statement. But first, Ilgaz asks Ceylin why she wasn’t answering her phone. She says Pars was watching her. He asks her if she’s going home. She thought he might want to take her statement before she left.
When I discovered that Mehmetcan was alive and in the hospital, Burak recounts, I rushed there. How did you find out, Ilgaz asks. I can’t reveal my sources, Burak says, Turkish Media Law Article 12. Let’s call it an anonymous report. I spoke with Ms. Mujde at the hospital. Eren asks, you interviewed her? Not exactly, Burak responds. I struck up a conversation and made her think I was there for my sick mother. Lying comes with my line of work.
Burak continues, I saw that Mehmetcan was regaining consciousness. His mother was happy. After that, I went to the cafeteria. Then I went to the parking lot to get my bike. There were 3 ambulances and there was a child in one of them. I followed it. They took the kid to the clinic. I asked for the kid’s name, but they couldn’t tell me because I wasn’t a relative.
I got a call from the newspaper, Burak says, about an abducted child. They told me to take a look. It was the same clinic, I knew I was in the right place. He says he snuck in through a back door at midnight and found the kid. And I made the call.
Ilgaz asks if he saw anyone visit. No. Ilgaz tells Burak he will stay here while they verify his story. If it checks out, he can go.
Derya comes to Eren’s office and says that Elif Yavas’ death has nothing to do with the accident. Pars asks where Rafet is. Get him. Pars vents his frustrations again. He says he’s not mad at anyone of them, he’s mad at himself.
Pars gets the idea to hold a press conference. Maybe they will find witnesses that way. Eren doesn’t like the idea. With all the meddlers, our phones won’t stop ringing. Pars says so be it. It’s your job to answer them.
Ilgaz would like Pars to think this over. Let’s not do anything we will regret. Mehmetcan is with his mother now, we have time to think. Pars says we will only give partial information. There are leaks anyway. Ilgaz thinks it’s dangerous. Where is Neva, Pars asks. In the morgue, waiting for us to resolve this so we can bury her. Pars walks out.
Derya notes that Pars isn’t well. He gets worse every day. He attacks anything that stands in his way. We are watching him lose his mind and there’s nothing we can do about it. He’s also forgetting his job. I called him to verify a file and he didn’t answer. He’s not answering calls from court. I understand, but he has other responsibilities. He’s the AG. He’s going to lose everything, not just his job. I’m scared.
Pars calls Ridvan and tells him to set up a press conference at 11 or 12 tomorrow.
Ilcey are going home. She’s laughing over a video on social media. Ilgaz isn’t paying attention. They pull up to the house and Ceylin suggests kebap for dinner. His mind is elsewhere. She says she’s hungry. How can you act like everything is normal, he says. You normalize everything. I almost lost you yesterday because you didn’t think. You almost died! And we haven’t even talked about it.
I’m not dead, am I, Ceylin replies, let’s move on. He gets out of the car and marches into the house. She follows. Awkward silence for a moment and Ceylin says, fine, let’s talk. I admit it. I made a mistake. I was impulsive. I’m guilty on all charges.
Ilgaz blurts, I was scared, don’t you get it? I want to spend my life with you and have many children. If you had gotten on that elevator, which you did despite it being out of service, what would have happened if I wasn’t there?
But you were there, Ceylin says, and I’m here. Nothing happened. There are a million outcomes in life. A vase could fall on someone’s head while they walk on the street. A bus could hit you when you wait at the stop. Should we live in fear of what will happen?
Is that the same, Ilgaz asks. This is not day to day life. He is furious. You’re impulsive, you think you’re invincible and that you know everything! It isn’t the same thing. Okay, she replies, it’s all about me again. ‘Ilgaz goes on and on”… after all this, you haven’t learned a thing… you flaunt the law. She tries to ignore him while preparing something in the blender.
Pars is at a restaurant. He’s been drinking and looks very depressed. Eren calls to tell him that Yekta is telling the truth. Should we let him go. Pars pauses before saying, let him go. Eren says that Burak is telling the truth. There are pictures in his camera that corroborate what he said. Should we let him go? Pars says let him go too.
Eren asks if there’s anything else he can do. Any orders? Pars says no, you can go home, too. Eren says to call any time if he needs anything, but Pars isn’t even listening to him. We see that Eren is in the restaurant at another table. Eren asks the waiter to bring rakı and roasted chickpeas.
Cinar is hanging out with the girls. Tugce tells a disgusting story about a guy who sneezed all over the place. Burak shows up and Cinar introduces him. It looks like Parla has instant attraction. [I thought she was sweet on Cinar?] Cinar tells them that Burak saved a child’s life today. Burak hands out beers but Tugce tells him they (she and Parla) are underage.
Burak says he’ll get them sodas or teas and he goes over to a vendor. Tugce makes a face. Cinar asks what’s wrong? [I’m not sure what’s wrong. Is Tugce suspicious of Burak?] She says, should I remind you this has happened before? We see Serdar lurking behind a tree.
Ilcey sulk. She’s in the living room, he’s in the bedroom. Ilgaz plays the song, Sar Bu Şehri, on his phone. Ceylin comes to the bedroom as Ilgaz is undressing. She apologizes. Make up sex.
We see Eren and Pars at the restaurant.
Ilgaz watches Ceylin sleep. He drinks rakı.
Pars gets up from his table and he almost falls. Eren is there to hold him up. Are you okay, he asks? Pars says yes and asks, how did you know I was here? Eren replies, your driver told me. Pars asks if he was here the whole time. No, Eren lies, I just got here. Pars pats Eren on the shoulder and stumbles out of the restaurant.
Next morning Ceylin wants to make sure with Ilgaz that they are okay. He thought he showed her how they made up. Wasn’t it enough? He asks, please don’t cause me any more grief. [Ilgaz, we have 26 Turkish eps to go. There will be more.]
Eren calls Ilgaz. Neva’s car was found. It was completely incinerated. Meet you there.
The forensic team starts to work on the car. Eren tells Ilgaz the fire was deliberately set. Rain put the flames out. We’re looking for fingerprints. We found a big suitcase in the back. There are clothes. IDs are found. Akin Yanik… Rasim Ozbek. Eren says, we’ve identified all the victims.
Once again, Aylin gripes to Ceylin about Gul. She made three trays of buns but says she only made one. I saw them. She hid them. Ceylin is a bit distracted. She tells Aylin she will talk to mom, but now she has to go to a hearing.
Derya comes to see Pars in his office. He called for her to assign a new case to her. She understands that he wants her to stop helping Ilgaz.
Eren and Ilgaz bring clothes from the car to the crime lab. They compare the clothes found to the ones the victims wore. They are the same sizes. If the killer chose them and followed them, he knew this.
Pars holds his press conference. Four bodies were found in a well. One is the president of the court, Neva Seckin, my sister. The crowd buzzes. We’ve identified the other victims and an investigation is underway. The police are on high alert, and we have a lot on the killer. Very soon I’ll be informing you of their detention. Ceylin and Tolga are watching in person.
We see Rafet watching in his office. He doesn’t have a positive reaction to it. Pars continues, I ask the citizens of Erenkoy… that if you come across anything suspicious, if you witnessed anything suspicious, please notify law enforcement. We see Yekta looking at the conference on his phone.
Pars takes questions. A reporter asks, are you going to release the names of the other victims? We see Cetin watching the presser on his phone in his car. He quickly puts the phone away when Aylin gets into his car. Osman runs after the car when it drives off.
More questions for Pars. Have you identified the victims? Is this why you are not telling us? Pars says the victims were identified. Burak asks if it could be connected to organized crime. Are you sure they acted alone? I don’t know if they are acting alone, Pars answers, but I know it’s a fool who thinks they are smart. He warns the killer—I’m after you. Haluk is watching the presser from his office. Pars continues, I will catch you soon. You will spend the rest of your life in prison. That’s all. Have a good day. The camera focuses on Ceylin, Tolga and Burak’s reactions.
Metin comes to Haluk and sees he’s been watching the presser. Haluk asks him, is that the AG you spoke with? Yes. Haluk asks what it’s all about. We don’t hear an answer.
Ilgaz is fuming over Pars’ presser. Eren exclaims, we couldn’t control Pars! Now our phones won’t stop ringing! Why did he do that? How could he release that information without consulting me, Ilgaz grumbles. I hope this press conference doesn’t provoke him (the killer), or we’ll have more bodies.
The ME enters Eren’s office. He says we wanted to notify you first. He puts a picture on the desk. A family that went missing two years ago. Ilgaz takes out the pics of the victims and matches them to the family in the picture. Father, mother, older sister, older brother, brother. A family.
Eren says, a family, but not a real family. Not blood related, Ilgaz notes, their ages don’t coincide… but they are similar and so is their appearance. He’s creating a family.
Some boys play soccer before the school bell rings. One kicks the ball into the nearby woods. The bell rings and the others leave the kid to retrieve the ball. They leave his backpack and head to classes. We see the ball in the woods, but not the boy.
The police lines blow up with calls…. confessions, accusations, weird stuff. Boxes of files are brought into the station. It’s overwhelming. Umut has something—a tipster claims to have seen Neva at a salon. Eren says send a team. Umut says it’s impossible, they don’t have the manpower. Eren says to check the security cameras in the area.
Ilcey drive. Ilgaz says they need to help Pars. He’s in bad shape. Ceylin says she noticed it at the press conference. I like how he took on the killer, I saw the fire in his eyes. It was impressive. He was so upset, Ilgaz notes. Ceylin says that makes sense. Ilgaz agrees but adds that Pars needs to calm down before he makes a mistake. Ilgaz has a sixth sense feeling something terrible is about to happen.
Ceylin wants to talk to Derya about it. Ilgaz asks, do you think they are a couple? Ceylin is sure of it. They held hands for a second at my party. These eyes are never wrong. Ilgaz isn’t as sure. Ceylin thinks it over and says, if there was something between them, it probably ended after what happened to Neva and after he was named AG. But it’s a good idea to talk to Derya. She gets along with him better than you do right now.
Ilgaz shoots her a look. Don’t look at me, Ceylin says, you have it up to your neck with the AG. Ilgaz says, you all should be grateful you have me. If anything were to happen to you…
They arrive at the courthouse and Ceylin asks, what would you do if something happened to me? Ilgaz is not in the mood for joking. Not a joke, she replies, I’m curious. What would you do? I would die, my love, he responds. She smiles and says, I suppose no one loves me more than you do. I love you very much. A hug in the car and they hold hands going into the courthouse.
Ceylin has a hearing today. Ilgaz asks her if she has time for lunch. Maybe, she replies, let me know when you are free.
Ceylin speaks with Tolga by phone and gives him instructions to go to Ilgaz’s office while he’s with the AG. Take pictures of every file you can find. Tolga is shocked. This is a crime. Ceylin doesn’t care. She says, do what I tell you and don’t ask questions.
Eren has a brief conversation with Ridvan about Pars.
Ilgaz meets up with Eren. Eren tells him about the stylist tip, but they have no one available to investigate. The phones are ringing off the hook and although tips are fake, they must be verified. They head to Pars with the latest findings. Eren hopes Pars is in a better mood today. Tolga sees Ilgaz and Eren enter Pars’ office.
Eren unrolls a poster made with the victims. This is the Oyak family, he begins, they died two years ago. The killer is trying to recreate this family. You still support that theory, Pars asks. Yes, Ilgaz replies, it’s the best we have until now. This was his family, and it appears he lost them. Pars asks if it’s known how they died. Yes, Ilgaz answers, the family was murdered by point-blank gunshots to the chest. Except for the father. The evidence points to him committing suicide.
Pars asks, Neva is the mother? Yes. Eren points out the relationships. But why choose Neva, Pars asks, why not someone else? What’s the connection? Ilgaz says they are looking into it. It makes sense when you look at their ages and appearance.
Derya has a question. Is the murderer part of the Oyak family, or someone unrelated to them? If he’s making a family for himself, it would mean he’s a member of that family, right? Ilgaz clarifies, either his family was murdered, or was murdered right before his eyes. Maybe he was never close to this family. Maybe he misses his family or maybe he caused their deaths and regretted it. He probably experienced some trauma, Eren adds, that’s got to be why he’s doing this.
Pars says okay, let’s go with this. He asks, what’s going on with the distant family members of the Oyaks? Eren says they checked the registration office. The only members of the Oyak family are the five people in this picture. But we did notice something that Missing Persons didn’t catch. The brother had a twin, but there’s no record of him. We don’t know whether he’s still alive. Derya wonders if he could be the suspect. Ilgaz says it’s possible.
How do we find him, Pars asks. We know no other kids lived in that house, Eren says, but we do know that the father has a brother. [I thought they said there were no other relatives?] Eren produces a picture. He reported the family’s disappearance to Missing Persons. We are looking up his information. He hasn’t had a proper home address for over a year.
Ceylin is in the courtroom. She claims her client has been verbally and emotionally abused by the defendant. I think it’s her boss.
Pars asks, what if our theory is wrong? The family thing makes sense, but it doesn’t mean it’s true. What if the killer isn’t trying to recreate a family? Ilgaz answers, but the question is what they were doing in the same well after two years. Pars says he’s just trying to think of other possibilities.
Derya says, we found two bodies in Ankara that were buried in the same place. There was a time difference. And we thought both murders could be connected. Turns out the killer saw someone bury a body there and when the police couldn’t find it, he buried his victim there, too.
There’s a coincidence for you, Pars says. So what are we thinking, Ilgaz asks, what’s the theory? Pars says let’s forget the family aspect for now. Let’s ask why they were murdered. He becomes visibly upset. Why were they killed? The others look at each other as if they don’t like where this is going. Maybe they borrowed money from the wrong guy, Pars says. We don’t know. Maybe they got mixed up in something shady!
Pars calms himself. As you know, Neva had money she was trying to get rid of. Ilgaz says she asked for Yekta’s help then didn’t show up. If she had, she would have gotten rid of it. Pars suggests, maybe she changed her mind or somebody else knew the money was there and she was attacked. We have to find who wanted these people dead. Who were their enemies. Ilgaz says it’s not necessary. Pars fires back, so is getting hung up on the wrong theory!
Ilgaz asks for one reason why the theory is wrong. Make your case. Pars says the family was shot. None of these victims were shot in the chest. If this event caused trauma, the killer would employ the same method and try to recreate exactly what happened. Ilgaz says it’s not about how they died but why. He asks, do you disapprove of me or my idea?
Pars turns to Eren for his opinion. He’s reluctant to get in the middle of this. He says both are possible, but the family theory is more likely.
Ceylin’s witnesses testify. And she has a lot more evidence to back up the claim. She asks the judge to take this case to trial.
Ilgaz asks Pars if he knows any of the victims. [other than Neva, of course.] Eren says they asked the victims’ families if they knew Neva. They didn’t. Pars still complains about the family theory. He wants Ilgaz to prove it. Only then I will tell you that you are right. Ilgaz needs to leave before it blows up. Eren rolls up the poster and goes. Derya excuses herself to go, but Pars asks her to stay.
Eren tells Ilgaz he’s going to investigate the stylist’s statement. He advises Ilgaz, don’t let this get to you. We know that he (Pars) is not well. We will solve this case somehow. Ilgaz says to let him know if he gets a notice in the same age range.
Tolga is right there listening to this convo. Ilgaz continues, families are the first thing that gives humans a sense of belonging. The killer never had that and clearly still doesn’t, so they might strike again. And Pars’ presser might have upset him. Eren leaves and Ozge comes over with some documents for Ilgaz to sign. He says he will do it later and walks away. Tolga says nothing.
Pars leans on the door with his back turned to Derya. She reaches out to touch him but changes her mind. He turns and asks her if she reviewed that file, too. She’s confused and says, you gave me a new case. I thought you didn’t want me to be a part of this one. And now you call me for another opinion? Are you asking me to launch a parallel investigation?
Yes, Pars replies, we have nothing to hide. We’re not doing anything behind anyone’s back. Just look at the case and come up with a different theory. Ilgaz is set on his theory, let him have that. But I want you to review the file and find out who would want those victims dead. Who were their enemies?
Derya says she understands, but there are other DAs. Wouldn’t they be better? Pars says, no one knows the case like you do. That’s why I think you should have it. Pars stares her down. She says she will review the file and let Ilgaz know. But please stop letting your emotions influence your decisions. He stops her before he goes. Derya… please… I need you very much.
Ozge tells Ilgaz the AG ordered us not to take on additional cases until we are done with the well murders. But we’ve received some ongoing cases from the police. I brought them. Tolga knocks on Ilgaz’s door. He asks to see Mehmetcan’s file if it’s ready. It’s not in the system. Ilgaz says they didn’t upload it. Can I see it? Ilgaz asks Ozge to bring the file.
Ceylin assures her client she will get compensation. I’ll make him regret not coming to a settlement.
Ozge brings the files. Tolga doesn’t want to disturb Ilgaz and asks if he can review the files elsewhere. Ilgaz answers, you know this file can’t leave my office. Have a look. Tolga gets a text from Ceylin: Did you get it? He answers: the DA won’t leave his office.
Ceylin spots Ridvan and some others nearby and pretends to feel faint. The group rushes over to her. They sit her down. Ilgaz gets the call that Ceylin fainted. Both he and Ozge bolt out of the office. Tolga seizes the opportunity.
Everyone is there to make sure Ceylin is alright. Derya asks if she hit her head. No. Ridvan says they checked her blood pressure, and it was normal. Pars asks if they gave her some sugar. Ceylin says she doesn’t want anything, she’s fine. She was just dizzy for a moment. She gets up. Ilgaz gives her a hug. She sees Tolga walk by and knows the job was done.
Ceylin says she’ll be late for her hearing. Ilgaz is concerned. Call me if it happens again. She apologizes to everyone, I’m sorry you had to rush here. Derya tells her to eat something. Ilgaz reminds her to take her phone. Geçmiş olsun.
Yekta is getting paintings appraised. He thinks they are worth millions. The dealer says it’s not an original. Yekta admits it’s a reproduction. It’s exactly the same. The dealer says even a reproduction would have a signature. It would be painted in the same manner as the original artist. Imitators copy art, but this is a fake. Yekta says he’s mistaken. He brought this from France. I have a certificate of authenticity. Look at it again. The dealer says it won’t matter. [Remember Lacin had taken the originals]
Yekta goes out and Ozgur is waiting for him. Time to collect. Where’s my money? Yekta says he’s broke. The painting was a fake. Ozgur doesn’t care, he wants his money. Ozgur grabs him and rants. I lost my store, my dignity and my honor. [he lost it long before Yekta] My family won’t even look at me. You’ll give me my money right now! Yekta says, let me go and I’ll handle it.
Tolga brings Ceylin the info. She says he passed the first test. There’s hope for him.
Ozgur punches Yekta in the nose. Once…twice. Yekta raises his bloodied hand. Don’t hit me anymore, I got it.
Ceylin takes notes from Tolga’s phone. He paces nervously. He’s making her dizzy. She needs time to review. She wonders if all the people in the well are a coincidence. The age, the resemblance. No way, it can’t be, she says. Could it be possible? The first family that died could be the killer’s family. Think of it as a game. Maybe the murderer is trying to create a family for himself.
And we are out.
Another packed episode. Thanks so much, dondi!
OK, Osman was unfaithful. A lot of couples face this, assuming it's a one-off, and manage to rebuild trust in each other. Osman hasn't seemed like that bad of a guy. but Aylin is acting just like her mother. Vengeance is what drives her.
Sorry, dondi, I'm a bit like Gul when it comes to Yekta. I am not amused, only want him to suffer!
I am quite confused about the car accident and the guy who caused it. For some reason I have a complete blank about that.
Was Tolga happy about Mehmetcan not giving a statement? Of course Tolga always looks wide-eyed and astonished all the time. Hard to tell if anything is going on behind that face.
Hmmm. Ceylin getting friendly with Burak. This could blow up in Ilgaz's face if she says too much. Burak's story seems to track, but I hated that cozying up to Mudje.
When "Ilgaz goes on and on" was in the recap, I thought: He's the guy I never mind going on and on. He's usually trying to get through to his careless wife.
Good for Tugce! What a change from that rebellious, angry girl Eren was trying to get close to. Eren's influence causes her to be suspicious of a random guy giving beer to underage girls.
So, apparently there's enough left of the bodies in the well to match them with the passport photos in the trunk of the burned car?
Ceylin, completely obsessed with the Mehmetcan case is putting Aylin in a bad position: dealing with the nutcase Gul. Selfish.
That twin brother finding looks very significant.
So...Ozgur's having lost his dignity before Yekta referred to his having helped Serdar bury Zafer?
Again, thanks for the recap, dondi. This is one interesting mystery.
Thanks, novelera.
I was wondering about the car accident, too. Yekta caused a fatal accident that devastated a family. He had someone take the fall for him. Is this the same accident that Elif witnessed?
I think Ceylin is too smart to blab to a reporter, but she would try to get info from him.
"Ilgaz goes on and on” lol-- I think I’m looking at everyone’s “on and on” from a recapper POV. If all I was doing was watching, I think it wouldn’t bother me as much. Sitting through long, repetitive rants from any character, and choosing what to leave in and leave out, becomes tiring. Anyway, it annoys me when Ilgaz wastes his breath on Ceylin. And Gul annoys me by just showing up.
Tugce is becoming a favorite of mine.
I’m having a hard time figuring out the looks and glances these new characters give us. They can mean something or they can be ingredients for a red herring salad.
Thank you, dondi356.
Did Mehmetcan really forget or was he intimidated to say he doesn't remember anything?
Maybe Osman is going to be helpful for the investigation. He may find something wrong with Cetim.
I didn't get the connection between the family that disappeared two years ago and the current case. How did that family even come up? Are the older bones in the well from the family? And then, it is a stretch to link the new killing with that family. It may be common in US TV series, but how common are these mentally ill types of killings? I guess I am with Pars on this.
Thanks, Lucio.
Osman is determined to find out who Aylin's new beau is and I'm sure he will do a thorough background check once he gets a full name.
ITA, it seemed like a big leap to make the connection to the Oyak family. I remember Ilgaz said to work with Missing Persons so I guess it was a big case for them two years ago. Good question about the older bones in the well.
You may be with Pars on this, and his theories are possible. But Ilgaz is the infallible hero, would Sema dare to make him wrong?
