Notes from the couch . .

PREGNANCIES

We got the answer to several questions tonight but not how Cecilia's belly ballooned literally from #86 to #87. She was calling Ignacio at the beginning of the episode (and he wasn't answering) and then trying to hide from him later.

Imelda, who never looked pregnant, delivers a healthy baby boy. Her parents want to take her to a private hospital and then take her home with them. She says no and insists on staying with Fernando. Earlier, Olimpia offered to loan them money for Imelda's delivery. It looks like Marco came to the rescue unknowingly covering her delivery when he left an envelope with money under Martina's pillow.

THE PARTY

Olimpia appears at Gabriel's for some advice from her "lawyer" before she goes back to Morelia not realizing that a party is going on. She is quickly informed it is a birthday party for Martina and . . . Martina is very proud to add and an engagement party! She enjoys showing her ring to Olimpia. The two start to snipe at each other (and will do so repeatedly during the episode.) Olimpia quickly decides it is better that she leave.

OLIMPIA'S STORY

Paula goes to see Olimpia. While she is waiting to see her, she overhears Olimpia berating her private detective for not being able to find her daughter. She has been trying to find her for five years. What is so hard??? She stops talking when she sees Paula and threatens to throw her and the whole Iturbide family out if she mentions what she heard to anyone. Paula assures her that she won't and that she knows what it is to lose a child. Paula offers to listen to her and Olimpia tells her how after several failed attempts to have a baby she finally got pregnant. Then she found out that her husband had been cheating on her. After the baby was born, he made it clear that the baby was the only one of them he cared about. Her anger grew and grew. So, she decided to take revenge on him. She took the baby to an orphanage. The loss destroyed her husband. He had a heart attack eventually and died. She was left alone and went looking for her daughter who, she found out, had been adopted. She started looking for her but even with all of her wealth she has found nothing. She wants to ask her daughter's forgiveness. Paula tells her how sorry she feels for her. Paula then asks what Martina has to do with all of this. Olimpia informs her that Martina never loved her brother but she did love the only man that Olimpia ever did: Gabriel. That is why Olimpia cannot allow her to be happy with him.

Later Paula tells Rogelio why Olimpia hates his mother so much. She would like to help her and get Olimpia and Martina to reconcile. Rogelio warns her that would cause gigantic problems and if Martina were to find out that she were in contact with Olimpia, that would be the end for her. They agree nobody says anything to Martina.

FERNANDO GETS THE SKINNY ON IGNACIO AND OLIMPIA

Fernando talks with Martina and tells her that when he heard her say that it seemed that Olimpia and Ignacio were both out to destroy the family, he began to wonder if they were conspiring against them. He gets Fidel on the case. Fidel finds out that for the last fifteen years Olimpia has been sending Cristóbal Ruvalcaba (Ignacio Iturbide) monthly payments of a substantial amount. Five years ago the amount of those payments greatly increased.

ETERNAMENTE Page two

VIOLETA REVEALS SHE IS A CREEPY PSYCHO IN DISGUISE

Paula brings Rogelio a piece of mocha cake as a snack for him to his workplace. He is happy to see her. He kisses her. He is sorry he cannot visit but the office is a madhouse. She understands and leaves. Violeta, she of the hot to trot pants, makes her way to Rogelio's desk and has to remark on the cake! Is it his birthday? Rogelio says it isn't his birthday. His wife brought it as a threat. Violeta offers to put it in the refrigerator. He thanks her. Only a few steps away from his desk, She doesn't drop the plate but gleefully smashes it with the cake to the floor. Immediately she is apologetic. She feels so sorry! She takes this as an opportunity to go out and bring Rogelio not just a slice of cake but a small mocha cake colorfully decorated AND a cup of coffee. She tries to get him to take a break with her. He has no time but does finally take a bite and tells her to help herself as he returns to work. She nibbles on a piece of chocolate frosting smiling as she devours him with her eyes.

José Juan (from now on known simply as JJ) tells Rogelio that he wants him to meet with the new investors in Morelia so they can see their facilities tomorrow. Rogelio thinks that is great and will take Lucas with him so he can see his friends. Rogelio asks Paula is she wants to go. She can't because Jazz needs a vaccine booster. Rogelio is leaving at 7 so he can meet with the investors at noon. Little does Rogelio know is that JJ has asked Violeta to go with him. That all leads to a big surprise when during breakfast, the doorbell rings at Rogelio's house. It is Violeta!!! Rogelio asks why she is there. She explains that uncle JJ says she was to go with him in case he needed something. Paula incredulous asks WHAT???? Rogelio says it is not necessary. He has it all under control. She says she is here on her uncle's orders. Seeing there is no way to get rid of Violeta, Paula makes a big deal of kissing Rogelio goodbye and he willingly goes along with it. It is so excessive, Violeta turns her head at one point. Micaela blesses Rogelio and they are off. Micaela looks on the situation knowingly.

EVERYTHING ELSE

Cassandra accepts Eva's friend request. Eva is happy she remembers her.

Martina gets disoriented while waiting for Imelda to give birth. As she is sitting in the waiting room with Gabriel, she asks him why they are there. He brushes it off as a joke but we know it isn't.

Cassandra and Ignacio are enjoying a relationship defined by being two adults with no ties to anyone.

That is all I got. Please add anything else I left out.

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, fabulous headings and a marvelous recap of a very interesting episode. I read every wonderful word with eager anticipation.

You captured Violeta to perfection with “…she of the hot to trot pants.” 😊 When she “nibbled on a piece of chocolate frosting smiling as she devoured him with her eyes” I laughed out loud. Such obvious and unwanted salivating. Does she not notice Rogelio isn’t the least bit interested??

After the way she acted the other day, Olimpia having had a child was not a shock. In true telenovela fashion, I am sure her daughter is someone we know. Paula was so sweet and kind to her. Too bad she is hell bent on revenge against Martina. Olimpia, you can’t get someone back who wasn’t yours to begin with. That ship sailed long ago…

This is the second time Martina has gotten disoriented in the last few days. A very bad sign.

So sweet of Marco to give Martina the money. I enjoyed their phone conversation. We finally got to see Paco Luna (is his name Chuy here?). I like the actor so much; I wish he had a bigger part.

Fidel comes through with the “goods” once again! Smart, resourceful, and honest, I have no doubt he’d uncover who Olimpia’s daughter is in no time.

My heavens, yes, Ceci “blossomed” overnight! I also had no idea Imelda was so advanced in her pregnancy; that was quick!

Although I didn’t understand their dialog, I got the impression Cassandra is getting a bit more entrenched in their relationship than Ignacio is. I think he still cares for Ceci and I’m growing increasingly alarmed by the fact Cecilia seems to be utterly miserable. I thought their relationship was dead and buried (as it should be) but now, I’m not sure.

“Micaela blesses Rogelio and they are off. Micaela looks on the situation knowingly” was exactly right! Looks like Paula is going to make sure Vi is shut down before she starts. Good for her!

Olimpia asked Paula not to tell anyone and Paula went and told Rogelio. I bet if she wasn't the protagonista, she'd be in trouble for this. I dislike the fact she immediately starts going on about how she wants Olimpia and Martina to reconcile. She has good intentions but their relationship is none of her business. Olimpia and Martina are the only ones who can decide what happens. Besides, it's not clear what it was that Olimpia did to Martina but Martina is not a forgiving person I imagine. For someone who has messed-up more than once, you'd think she'd learn to be a bit more forgiving, but it doesn't appear so from what I saw in the next episode.
So Violeta is most probably mentally unstable. Why do they always go for this angle? Is it the only thing they can think of? She ignores obvious hints that are more like huge signposts and will make up a story in her own head, which makes her very dangerous. So it's enough for her that a man is attractive and she goes and pursues him. It doesn't matter that the subject of her affection isn't interested. I wonder what her uncle meant when he said her childhood was hard. I mean, he definitely must have put effort into raising her so she had some stability. Or do they mean to suggest that her father leaving her made her into a person who can't actually distinguis fiction from reality? This feels more an inherited problem than a result of being abandoned maybe. Or is it possible to develop this kind of problem when you are a mentally stable person? I bet she used to invent things as a child, things that had nothing to do with reality. Maybe it's a way to cope, but there has to be more to this than 'my father left and so I'm in fantasy land'. I had a classmate who used to lie about inconsequential things non-stop. I have a feeling she hasn't changed to this day because she was like that from an early age. Violeta is even worse. She will lie to herself as well as others.
Olimpia doesn't take rejection well.It must have been an extraordinary fit of anger for her to go and leave her child at an orphanage. Is it anger or depression? Recently in my country there was a woman who killed her children because she was suffering from post-partum depression. Iyt feels like a strange explanation for abandoning your own flesh and blood just because you wanted to punish your husband. I mean, what about maternal instincts?

ETERNAMENTE

Diana, I agree that this was a very interesting episode and also quite an enjoyable one. Yes, Cassandra seems more taken with Ignacio than him with her. She isn’t saying much but that smile says it all! Yes, we need more Chuy! Then there is Violeta. . . I hope she is in and out in a couple of episodes. Could we be so lucky?

waterlily, interesting comment about post-partum depression but in Olimpia’s case, I am voting for anger. Olimpia has been nasty to everyone, not just her late husband. Maybe she is a sociopath?

Eternamente

Jarifa, thank you for capturing every moment. It was a great way to start my day.

First,I loved Marco putting the envelope with money under his mother's pillow . This young guy is continuing on his hero's journey . I read online that he and the actress playing Blanca are dating , so those sweet love scenes are real.

There must have been a big time jump even though there were no words on the screen to indicate it. Several months obviously passed. Ceci blossomed and Imelda had her baby.

This show seems to be getting darker and sadder. Martina's disturbing confusion is sad. It will make Olympia's vengeance futile if Martina no longer understands what is happening . I am sure that we are going to see Gabriel stay loyal to her . He seems quite fragile, too.

Clever Fidel is a great detective . Eva should tell him that she knows Cassandra.

Throwing strange Violetta into the mix seems odd. Will we find out about her" rough " childhood ? Dropping that plate with the cake like a spoiled little girl who wants something she cant have. Rog feels obligated to put up with her because she is his boss's niece . I am glad Paula gave him that big kiss in front of Vi...A visual for Vi to absorb.

OT...There are a lot of new shows in development .
" Tu Vida es MI Vida" with Susana Gonzales and Juan Soler .

" El Amor no Tiene Receta" with Daniel Elbittar and Claudia Martina.
I started watching the Turkish dizi " Amor Prohibido" on Uninas...wow.

Eternamente #87

Gracias, Jarifa.

Fidel needs to tell Rogelio about his discovery now. Rogelio will need to see his lawyer immediately thereafter or Fernando will screw this up again. If Rogelio doesn't take the reins in time it could all go down the crapper.

Waterlily, I agree with your reaction at Paula's intentions and I also cringed. Olympia is totally unforgiving, as the reason was something from 40 years ago or longer. If Martina still had all her marbles she would fight back just as viciously. I have said many times that there are unforgivable acts in this world including those of narcissistic parents who emotionally destroy their children.

Olympia discarding her baby in revenge for a marital infidelity was over the top and has come back to bite her where it hurts. She must envy Martina for the fact that her sons still love her despite her narcissistic abuse. All her money couldn't buy that.

I still have to catch up to the rest of the evening's shenanigans.

Eternamente

Thanks for your “notes” that fill in the missing pieces(for me), and are a great read.

When Martina ended up in her old bedroom I was relieved that the doctor said stress. But life has been good for her lately and the hospital scene was upsetting. She’s so close to real happiness, but will she even realize it.

My screen had months later before the birth scene. But Imelda never looked that pregnant and poor Cecelia is huge. She also seems to be back in Morelia so Ignacio will definitely find out about the baby. I have a feeling they will end up together. For some reason Cecelia loves him.

Violeta is something else! Paula seems aware that she’s after Rogelio, but is Rogelio? At least Lucas will be with them, but she has already won over Lucas.

Olimpia’s news was a shock. Give your baby away because your husband has been cheating on you! She should have given the husband away. It’s odd that she seems to like Paula.

I thought it was a sweet scene when Honorio was on the bed with the children.

An enjoyable episode. Sneaky Violeta the only downer.

Liz

ETERNAMENTE

Susan, it does look like there are some possibly interesting shows in the pipeline with old/new favorites. Thanks.

As for Violeta, it was mentioned was that Violeta’s father abandoned her and nothing about her mother, so I think that is the rough childhood they were referencing which is rough enough. Since I just labeled Olimpia a possible sociopath, I could continue to play Dr.Analysis and say maybe Violeta craves male attention in all the wrong ways but that would be too generous on my part. I think she is just a spoiled bratty b.

ETERNAMENTE

Urban, you are right about time being of the essence with Fernando telling Rogelio what he has found out. How many episodes will it take when all it should take is a phone call?

Liz, thanks Liz for seeing the “months later.” That makes it better. As for Martina, “She seems so close to real happiness, but will she even realize it.” I think you called it. It sure is not looking good. Honorio with the kids was the best!

Tierra

Good morning Tierra fans, you'll have to forgive me but today's report is going to be super short and sweet. I'm not friends with the word 'sick', I do not hang out with it or allow it space in my life but it's tried to enter by force anyway this weekend and thus I spent all of yesterday sleeping.

I woke up this morning and did watch the episode but I have no energy for taking formal notes or developing a recap so here are the bare highlights:

Valentina and Bernarda argue over Regina's relationship with Clemente and Vale recommends mom let Regina decide for herself, which is odd because Vale has already tried to decide for Regina. Regina decided that if her mother won't support her relationship with Clemente she will leave home and she does during the night when no one can stop her. She shows up in the middle of town, looking like Adriana's next victim but luckily Trejo sees her first and calls Clemente over to help. Bernarda goes into town with a gun like a crazy lady determined to force Clemente away from Regina! Big dramatic fight ensues and Bernarda tells Clemente that Rut raped her!!! Bernarda will never let Regina be with the son of Rut and Regina says she won't come home if mom won't give Clemente a chance, but Clemente thinks Regina should return home, as much as he loves her he doesn't want to come between her family, they need each other!!! But he's not giving up either. Regina runs off and Vale follows.

Regina does run into Adriana who is happy to try to recruit the girl, even after realizing she's deaf, but luckily Vale shows up and drags Regina away before much can happen. The seed is sown though, if Regina needs help and an escape from home, Adri will take care of her....sigh.

Cris and Geno (as Nany calls her and I'm going to too) go on their fake date to make Suzy jealous but it works a little too well, especially on Geno's part, and now she's thinking she's jealous of Suzy.

Esteban and MT are settling into running things together and Esteban is eager to go out into the stables and talk more with Bernarda, who wasn't there of course, because she was in town totting a gun around the square. This was kind of funny, when they asked Cris where Bernarda was and he gives his typical nervous non-answer and Santos comes up and just says the reasonable, she had to deal with an issue with her youngest daughter. Esteban is very curious to meet Bernarda's daughters. And when MT walks away, Santos is able to plant the seed with Este that Marcos shouldn't be trusted.

An irate Clemente goes straight to daddy and accuses him of being a raptist!!! He gets his a$$ beat for his troubles but Trejo comes in and breaks it up eventually.

More happened I know, but that's what I got for today, sorry! Hope everyone is having a better day than me!

Eternanente

Liz, you nailed it . Olympia should have given her cheating husband away instead of her baby . Knowing her story, I now have absolutely no sympathy for Olympia at all. A mother cares for and takes care of her children. She doesn't use them for revenge . An awful person in fashionable clothes and big rose pins. I think she is softer toward Paula because she makes her think of her daughter .

Paula is an empath who tries to understand and help everyone who wanders into her orbit...except bratty Violet ...but who knows ...maybe she will befriend her and help her find a nice young hombre .

OT...I discovered a new favorite song . It's an old song but new to me ..." Por Amarte Asi" By Christian Castro.

Perhaps odd Vi is looking for a father figure.

I have no idea how the writers are going to wrap this up.

TIERRA

Darcy, thank you for your wry and witty recap, despite feeling poorly. You captured all the highlights perfectly. You are a real trooper for doing this.

I didn’t think Bernarda’s revelation would come out in such dramatic fashion but did it ever! Clemente has seemed like a nice young lad but not very exciting. His strength and courage as to how he handled his father’s abuse really impressed me. Also, his maturity in dealing with wild, raging (and rightly so) Bernarda. “Clemente thinks Regina should return home, as much as he loves her he doesn't want to come between her family, they need each other!!! But he's not giving up either”. A man after Regina’s heart.

Trejo saved the day and I think this is not the last time.

Regina is in imminent threat of danger from Adriana. I also fear she will look to Adriana’s lure as there is no way she is going to resume her life back under Bernarda’s roof with her heart broken. At least for now.

The “date” was sweet, with jealousy and fur flying. Sweet Cris seemed as though he was a bit in shock…

At least Santos has been able to tell Esteban of his mistrust of Marco. Now if he would only have a heart to heart with Maria Teresa!

Jarifa, "Since I just labeled Olimpia a possible sociopath, I could continue to play Dr.Analysis and say maybe Violeta craves male attention in all the wrong ways but that would be too generous on my part. I think she is just a spoiled bratty b". Am smiling away...loved it!

Liz, thank you for reminding me about the scene with Honorio and the kids on the bed, it was one of the highlights!

waterlily, I know Paula has good intentions but I was sad she told Rogelio about Olimpia so quickly...Yes, Urban Olimpia is "totally unforgiving".

Susan, thank you for the heads up on the new shows! I couldn't find anything on Susana's new show but will keep looking. Wouldn't a Susana/Daniel pairing be amazing??? Maybe next time.

Minas

I apologize for today's lack of recap; I'll try to watch + recap both #19 and #20 tomorrow. At best, I'll have recaps for both; at worst I'll have highlights for #19 and a recap for #20. Thank you for your understanding.

Eternamente

Gracias, Jarifa. Have I told you lately how much I'm enjoying your daily couchcaps? They brighten my afternoons. I missed watching most of last night's epi. I've been wondering if Violeta would bring the same old tired tricks or do something novel. When I read your subheading "Violeta Reveals She is a Creepy Psycho in Disguise," I laughed out loud. You sure do whip up delightful prose.

I had written off Ignacio, but since he's not really into Cassandra I have renewed hope for him. Cecilia is still tugging at his heart. I guess we'll know for sure in how he acts (rage or understanding?) when he discovers she's still carrying the baby.

Tierra #40

Darcy,
you got the important stuff. Feel better.

I think that Cris will end up with Genoveva. She is the confidante and underling to Maria Teresa just as he is to Santos.

I blanked on some of the dialogue but I get the feeling that there will be major trouble between Marco and the Jackal.

Adriana just earned perhaps the second worst Karmageddon to come for her attempt at recruiting Regina who is obviously the most vulnerable of our characters. We know that potential tragedy lurks beyond her. I'd love to see Bernarda blow her away for this, but the reclusorio feminino is the likely fate unless Grim kills her first.

Bernarda needs a shrink for her inability to manage anger and her issues about men. Any rape survivor would tell her that. If she kills Rutilio -- which we know she wants to -- she would likely get the book thrown at her in this town.

It seems likely that Trejo has reached the breaking point with Rut. I can't imagine how horrible it is to find a man so viciously beating his own son whose only crime is not wanting to be a brute like himself.

Finally I have a question: How old is Maria Teresa supposed to be?

The issue is with the dates on Lucia's grave: 1963-1996 It doesn't jive with the photo showing MT and her mum. The actress is 33, so if MT is 33 she would have been only three when her mother died. She looked older than that in the photo.

"ETERNAMENTE":
Niecie: This Telenovela should have at least 120 episodes overall. Any chance Unvision will run through the whole gauntlet of remaining episodes ?

"TIERRA" EPISODE#40:
UA: Sounds like Cris will end up with Genoveva, I agree with you on that one. Adriana will get her Karma in the end assuming half of the cast doesn't get killed off by then.

Darcy: Get Well Soon ASAP.

"MINAS":
Weirdo: Looking forward to seeing your recap of this week's episodes including the photograph screenshots too.

MINAS - Comments and a few pitiful notes

Weirdo, please, never a need to apologize! You are so kind to provide all that you do.

Your recaps are wonderful and we are appreciative to read your always marvelous words whenever you are able to do them.

I was really tired yesterday but here is what I think I recalled...

Mau survived the fall, as we knew he would;Leo and Emilia worked in tandem to save him. Rats... Roberta has a momentary pang of conscience and asks Emilia for a fresh start which Emilia refuses. The bullies came after Nico in the classroom after the teacher stepped out. Nico pushed the lead bully who fell on the floor and hit his head. He too will survive. Seb fills Emilia in and she is devastated, thinking she failed her son. Tigre goest to Roberta's for a little confrontation.

Highlights, lowlights, comments, recaps, all are so helpful but again Weirdo, when and IF you can do them...:)

Diana

Tierra,

Darcy, thank you for going above and beyond and bringing us a great account of all the drama while under the weather.

It looks like an unlikely hero has emerged...Trejo. He is becoming a father figure to Clem and Regina.

Esteban is interested in meeting Bernard's daughters . hmmmm.. Is that because one or both of his girls is\are his?

Adriana is a viper. The actress isnt shy about her wardrobe on screen . She has been in more more revealing clothes than any of the other actresses.

Looks like Chris and Gen have found each other.

Minas

Diana, thank you for the recap.

I dont understand the dialogue , but I observed the visual.

Fidel sent the same ramera to Orlando in his office. He took her somewhere to teach him to dance!!!! Meanwhile back at the ranch , Jenny was actually bunny hopping with Mau . " I'm glad you didn't jump" sex. Okay.

Leo looked forlorn the whole episode. When Roberta was talking to Emi with Sara behind Emi after Mau was talked off the cliff , Leo put himself between Emi and Sara. Then, as Mau was being checked by the EMT, Sara and Roberta were giving Emi the stink eye and Leo put his jacket around her shoulders ...but Emi removed it.

Seb talked To some woman about Nick pushing that little bully. Then, Seb gave Emi a big hug. Sign me up for Seb. ......but....no...because....you know ....Leo and the puppy dog eyes and always giving up his jacket.

Some younger guy with long black hair in a ponytail was talking to Fidel and Adel . Adel looked confused .

Leo had a heart to heart with Orlando . So sweet . Two guaypos sharing .

Adel went to see Miriam and hit his head on the ceiling light ...highlight of the episode. They argued and Miriam hurt her leg ????

Fidel and Roberta shared some champagne and kisses. Uff

MINAS

Susan, thank you so much for all the juicy details!

How could I have forgotten Orlando...dancing, hawt as well you know and his deep convo with Leo "two guaypos sharing" indeed!

Mau has no respect for Jenny and she certainly has none for herself. How she, or anyone could possibly choose crazy, needy Mau over Orlando is unfathomable.

"Sign me up for Seb. ......but....no...because....you know ....Leo and the puppy dog eyes and always giving up his jacket". Huge, longing sigh from me...

Diana

Tierra

Thanks for the recap, it included all we need to know! I hope you are feeling better.

I think I would have known Marco was a sleeze when I was a teenager! I didn’t realize Santos had warned Esteban. Let’s hope he takes it seriously.

It was sickening to watch Adriana try to recruit Regina. I was so relieved when Valentina showed up. I never thought she might go back to her! Let’s hope not.

Clemente was great and so was Trajo. Clemente needs a decent father figure in his life.

Cris and Geno were cute together. I hope they become a couple.

Liz

ETERNAMENTE

Niecie, glad you are enjoying the notes. Anyway, how long is Cecilia planning on waiting to tell Ignacio about the baby? She should have told him already or moved out of town and never told him. As you noted, he still has feelings of her. Should be interesting.

Minas

Uh oh . Emi and Leo both had a bad day. Emi hugged Mau three times and Seb twice .Leo ...no hugs from distracted, worried Emi for Leo .

Orlando and the lady of the evening are developing a nice rapport. Maybe he will end up with her . Has anyone figured out a reason he would be hopelessly devoted to Jenny?

Sara was talking to the reporter . I am sure Sara was up to no good , but I don't know what she was saying to her.

PROGRAMMING

Looks like no novelas on Univision tomorrow night. : ( We are all being pre-empted.

ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS #88 Part one

We are being pre-empted tomorrow night. #89 will be on Thursday.

Notes from the couch . . .

I was just thinking of how much time has transpired since this novela started now looking at how big
the kids are. Is it like 2 /1/2 to 3 years?

Anyway, here is what happened tonight.

OLIMPIA AND THE ITURBIDES

Fernando pays Olimpia a visit. He comes in with a sarcastic cavalier kind off attitude and when she asks him not to call her "tú", he does so anyway. Through a series of oblique questions, he lets her know that she seems so much like his brother Ignacio: wanting to be part of the family and always observing them from afar. She claims to have heard of Ignacio but to never have met him. Fernando says that Ignacio once told him there is "nothing for nothing." So, he is wondering what she expects from the Iturbides in exchange for all that she is doing for them. He finally warns her that if anyone were to do something to his family, he doesn't know how he would react. He leaves her office but conveniently forgets his briefcase. When the secretary goes to get it, he overhears Olimpia greeting her favorite nephew Ignacio on the phone. When the secretary returns the briefcase to him, he stays for a while at her desk reorganizing his papers and continues eaves dropping through Olimpia's still opened door. Olimpia tells Ignacio that Fernando was there and he knows they have an alliance. Fernando leaves. Olimpia yells at her secretary for not having closed her door completely.

After his visit with Olimpia , Fernando brings Martina up to date on what he found out about the alliance between Olimpia and Ignacio and how she lied about knowing Ignacio but then called him. She has been giving Ignacio huge quantities of money for a long time and some of the deposits are since he moved back to Morelia with his mother. Martina now knows that they were planning to ruin them all along. Fernando says they can't prove anything (like a conspiracy?) because the bank records are private. Martina wants to sell that land ASAP.

OLIMPIA AND HER DAUGHTER

The private detective has found Olimpia's daughter. She was adopted by the Iglesias family. They are a well-to-do family that owns hotels and car dealerships and paid big bucks to keep the adoption a secret. The wife even pretended to be pregnant. Olimpia has known the family for a long time. There are even photos of Olimpia with the family and her daughter. Her daughter's name is Luna and currently is married to an antique dealer out of New York. They split their time between there and Mexico City. Olimpia also recognizes the name and realizes that she is one of her customers.

ETERNAMENTE Page 2

Olimpia arranges to meet with Luna under the guise that she is trying out a new business strategy. Luna finds it odd that the owner of the company would just start meeting with customers. Olimpia says she is meeting with the best of her customers. That still doesn't seem to fly with Luna. Olimpia notices that Luna is pregnant. She is ready to deliver any day now. The baby will be named after her mother: María Eugenia. Luna turns down any food or drink and asks Olimpia to make sure she gets her next catalogue.

Paula runs into Olimpia who tells her all about the meeting her daughter but how she didn't tell her she was her mother. Paula invites her out for coffee to continue the conversation. Olimpia turns her down wanting to only sleep after such a stressful day but thanks her.

In the meantime, Cassandra calls Olimpia to tell her that their whole jewel safe itself was stolen from their new boutique in Morelia. Cassandra is dreading her reaction but is surprised to find a mellow Olimpia who tells her to just call the insurance company and let them handle it. Due to the city of Morelia's own security recordings, the police have a clear image of the thief and he is soon arrested. He is a part of a jewel theft gang and had infiltrated the remodeling company working on the boutique. All of the jewels were retrieved.

ROGELIO AND HIS TRIP TO MORELIA

The business meeting in Morelia is being held at Rogelio's friend's Pedro's restaurant. Whenever they start talking and mention Paula, Violeta has a coughing fit making her the center of attention. The businessmen arrive and they have their meeting.

Pedro has invited Rogelio, Violeta and Fidel to a special supper. Little does Rogelio know is that Paula has decided to join them as a surprise. As soon as Paula arrives, Violeta suffers from a supposed allergic reaction to the nuts in the food and makes herself the center of attention once again. Paula sees right through her.

Paula and Rogelio spend the night at a hotel in Morelia . The next morning, Rogelio gets a text from Violeta that she is going back to Mexcio City on the bus. Paula, Rogelio and Blanca drive back together.

ROGELIO AND HIS TRIP TO THE PARK

Rogelio takes Jazz to the park. Micaela and Honorio come along with Maraca and Ada. At the park, a man gets hit in the head with a soccer ball. Rogelio, the soccer players and a woman with a baby stroller all attend to him to make sure he is okay. The woman leaves and mistakes Jazz's stroller for her own. When Rogelio gets home, Paula has to tell him that the baby he brought home isn't Jazz. What happened???

EVERYTHING ELSE

Cassandra and Eva manage to get together even though it is for a very short time. They discover that they both have a connection to the Iturbide family. They promise to get together again.

Melitón seems to be suffering unknowingly from what I will call: (in my role of Dr. Analysis) sympathetic pregnancy nausea (Is there such a thing? Could he be a walking talking pregnancy test for Felipa in this case? I found this so funny) as he tells Felipa that maybe it was the tacos he ate. She thinks not and tells him that she THINKS (not knows) that they might be pregnant but will have to see the doctor to make sure. He ends up fainting. The godparents will be Micaela and Honorio.

ETERNAMENTE Page three

Martina is getting married in two months. When Micaela gets sad about things changing between them after the marriage, Martina tells her that things will never change. They will always be together. Imelda is all excited about helping plan the wedding.

Carmelo dies and all charges against Fernando are dropped.

Cecilia visits Ignacio. He asks for an explanation when he sees how pregnant she is. She apologizes and knows she should not have hidden her pregnancy but she was afraid and needed to stay away from him. He asks if that was not selfish of her. She tells him she is so sick of him once again playing the victim. He is a violent man always planning revenge. She had to protect the baby from him. He always told her he was going to change but he never did. If he ever does change, then maybe they can talk. Ignacio tells Melitón to take Cecilia wherever she needs to go. He stands alone with tears in his eyes. He then buys a cradle.

Please add anything I left out.

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, every recent episode has been a fascinating short story in and of itself, and this was no exception. Your recap was a sharp, reflective mirror of everything that transpired, good, bad and everything betwixt and between. Your narrative has been exceptional and impeccable.

“Melitón seems to be suffering unknowingly from what I will call: (in my role of Dr. Analysis) sympathetic pregnancy nausea (Is there such a thing? Could he be a walking talking pregnancy test for Felipa in this case? I found this so funny)” had me laughing away too Jarifa! If Felipe thinks she is pregnant, she must be!

I was worried as to what would happen when Ignacio and Cecilia finally met. I wrongly thought he would be overjoyed. His ice-cold demeanor likely helped Cecelia to calmly explain that “…she is so sick of him once again playing the victim. He is a violent man always planning revenge. She had to protect the baby from him.” The hard to hear but unvarnished truth. Keeping his emotions in check, he politely dismissed her but was clearly rattled and upset. I had a smidgeon of hope for these two, but I see that evaporating. The cradle admittedly unnerved me. I don’t think he has any intention of being parted from his child for a moment. A bad omen for what is to come.

Olimpia has a bad habit of keeping her door open…

Olimpia goes from having a very bad day thanks to Fernando, but things start looking up at her meeting with Luna. I have a bad feeling that Olimpia is about to encounter some bad karma. We shall see.

Could Vi have been any more annoying?? The coughing, the faked food allergy (wouldn’t she have needed an Epipen? I saw none in sight). Hopefully she got on the bus to nowhere.

The carriage mix up notwithstanding (I'm confident the baby mixup will be rectified in the next 10 minutes of the next epi), Micaela and Honorio are going to make excellent godparents.

I liked Imelda bringing her baby over to Martina rather than her mother.

Martina’s beautiful navy silk blouse underneath her blazer as another fashion fave.

I was surprised Violeta went back to cdMX all of a sudden. Why is she leaving just because Paula showed up? I mean, she seems not to be the kind who cares a wife is around. Would she have coughed so much if Paula hadn't been mentioned? I don't remember how the whole alergy talk started. Was Paula mentioned beforeshe told them 'I'm alergic'.
It was funny to me that Eva mentioned her niece is married to the oldest Iturbide son. It just reminded me of people who meet with someone after a long time and start telling them only the best parts of their life. Eva's conversation with Casandra didn't have that annoying feeling those bragging competitions usually have, even if she had meant to boast.
Ignacio seemed to want Ceci to tell him she didn't hide because of him. Or does he like torturing himself by asking her to tell him what he already knows?
If I understood correctly, Carmelo was shot by the authorities. But did they have proof he was the one transporting drugs in that truck? I didn't understand why all the charges were dropped. I only remember they discovered Fernando's signature on the documents was falcified. But did they have anything against Carmelo specifically? I can't stand it when such details escapeme. Business dealings and who did what are so hard to keep track of for me.

Thank you Jarifa for your wonderful informative recaps. I watched both episodes late yesterday and got caught up. As always I appreciate you informing me of what I missed and or didn't pay attention to.

One thing I want to say about Monday that caught my eye was CeCe comparing the struggle of a single mom vs. single dad with that dad from her music school... it seemed like there could have been something there.

I too was surprised Ignacio didn't just jump for joy upon realizing that his child is alive!!! I think it felt it though, you could see it after Cecelia walked out and he was alone to process.

Watching last night, it struck me how happy Martina seemed to be to see Blanca and how this family has just found a way to accept each other. The good, the bad, and the ugly, even Imelda; they just find a way. Of course, you could make a very good argument for why people shouldn't have to accept the vast majority of what some of the family members have done but they accept it anyway, and in a way, it's kind of heartening. A picture of having a family that will accept you with all your weaknesses, mistakes and even serious character flaws.

I was so sure that woman in the park was getting ready to steal the baby!!! I was yelling at the screen, but they didn't hear me of course. It wasn't until Rogelio got home and there was another baby in the stroller instead of an empty stroller that I considered it could have been an accident. Hopefully it was and will be a quickly remedied one. It would have been too a elaborate scheme I guess, to bean an old man in the head just so you can steal a baby.... dangerous and painful.

Minas

Diana, thank you very much for your kind words. I've been having some rough days.

Thanks to Diana and Susan for their recap of #19. ¡Mil gracias!

Since today is another hectic day and we're pre-empted, I'll post a recap tomorrow. I hope it's worth the wait ;)

ETERNAMENTE

Diana, thank you! As for Cecilia and Ignacio "I had a smidgeon of hope for these two, but I see that evaporating. The cradle admittedly unnerved me. I don’t think he has any intention of being parted from his child for a moment. A bad omen for what is to come." Seeing the cradle being delivered was particularly troubling. I wonder if he will be going back to his therapist. Let us hope so. As for Violeta, "Hopefully she got on the bus to nowhere." She is so very annoying. I was happy to see Paula made the trip to make a point.

waterlily, there was no discussion. As soon as Violeta heard Paula's name she started coughing. I see that and her "allergy" to nuts just as Paula arrived as nothing more than childish attempts to focus all attention on her. She might as well be ten years old. I do not understand the Mexican legal system, so I will not even try to comment on why Fernando was still charged even though it was proven that he didn't sign the shipping authorization and they knew the culprit was Carmelo. Why did Carmelo's death suddenly free him of all charges? Your guess is was good as mine.

Darcy, thank you for mentioning the following "One thing I want to say about Monday that caught my eye was CeCe comparing the struggle of a single mom vs. single dad with that dad from her music school... it seemed like there could have been something there." "Watching last night, it struck me how happy Martina seemed to be to see Blanca and how this family has just found a way to accept each other." I noticed that, too, when Blanca was seated with the whole family and Martina had nothing snarky to say to her. It was "A picture of having a family that will accept you with all your weaknesses, mistakes and even serious character flaws." Thinking back, they all have been very tolerant of Fernando and him losing the company. It is hard to believe that a family IRL would be so accepting of somebody who had run them into ruin.

Jarifa, thank you for all the news from the couch.

I must not have been paying attention because i missed a lot of this episode....well, I get easily distracted lately .

What was the point of Violetta being introduced if we were not going to see her actively trying to seduce Rog. I guess we were supposed to see how clever and creative Paula was at blocking young Miss Messed Up from her hombre.

I like the way everyone in the family takes turns taking care of the kids. That's the way it was in our bigger extended families when we got together . I wonder if it is still common for generations to live in one house in Mexico.

Teleovela coincidences : Olympia 's daughter is her client and O knew the family who adopted her . Really? There she was hiding in plan sight.

They keep throwing stuff at us....now Rog brings home NotJazz. What next?

Surely Felipa is pregnant if Meliton is the barometer . And Ugh buys a crib. Yikes

They have been shoeing that single father lately , so he will probably!y end up with someone.

OT....Weirdo , I hope things calm down for you soon. Real life can be stranger than the fiction we watch.

Darcy, hope you are feeling better.

Fernando Colunga is starring with Marlena Favela in a new telenovela " La Maleficio.."

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, as you agreed with me that "Seeing the cradle being delivered was particularly troubling", my anxiety is increasing. Still enough time for much unwanted mischief. And worse.

waterlily, for a cold, calculating husband stealer, Violeta had no game at all! As Jarifa noted, "she might as well be ten years old".

Darcy, I also thank you for the very astute observation about CeCe and the father. To be honest, I thought the character was peripheral at best and clearly I didn't pay enough attention.

There are so many questions looming but the most burning one for me is Ignacio's fate.

No show tonight. Drat.

Diana

ETERNAMENTE

Susan, I am a huge Marlene Favela fan. If only there were more hours in the day, "La Meleficio" would be on my "to do" list. I haven't seen Counga since P&P.

Diana

OT

Thanks everyone for the well wishes, I am not feeling better yet but I am not feeling worse either so there’s that! I guess if I have to deal with that ugly ‘sick’ word I am glad it’s now and not two weeks from now when I will be on vacation!

Eternamente

Thanks, Jarifa, last night was a busy episode. So much happened.

I was sure Jazz had been kidnapped and Rogelio had an empty stroller. That happened in a previous telenovela. So I’m glad it’s hopefully an easily solved mix-up.

I am impressed that Fernando thought about a connection between Olimpia and Ignacio and put Fidel to work! By Carmelo being killed they won’t be able to prove a connection between Ignacio and him. Not enough to get Ignacio arrested anyway. And I want him out of the picture. This is not looking good for the baby, or Cecilia.

Violeta was almost funny. In what world do people cough when the wife’s name is mentioned. And Paula shows up so she fakes an allergy and takes the bus home! Not too experienced in being a home wrecker!

It was sweet that Blanca wanted to visit the family. And that Imelda seems to be choosing them over her own parents.

I wonder if Eva and Cassandra’s friendship will lead to some discoveries that will help the family.

I’m so glad Felipa is pregnant. And a fun way to announce it. But with Olimpia’s daughter also pregnant this show should have been named “babies galore”.

Liz

OT

Susan, thanks.

Darcy, I didn't see your post about not feeling well; I hope you get better soon :)

Eternamente

Thanks, Jarifa.

Paula and Rogelio have been put through the wringer in their early married years. Hoping the woman made a mistake and does the right thing, but I'm not sure if there was actually a baby in her own baby carriage. I kept wondering through that soccer scene why she was sitting so close to them on the bench.

Kudos to Fernando for spying on Olimpia. But he needs to also tell Rogelio what he found out.

Violeta is strange and annoying. We know she won't steal Rogelio, so what will she do? Get her kicks harassing Paula?

Disappointed in Ignacio. He's incapable of seeing things from Cecilia's point of view. The psych can't do much if he always insists on blaming others. Cassandra, good luck with him.

OT

Darcy, I wish you good sleep and rest.

Tierra de Esperanza 9/26/23
Episode 41: Part 1 of 3

Maria Teresa accepted an invitation from Marco when Bernarda returned with her daughters. Marco greeted Bernarda rather casually before kissing Maria Teresa at his departure. Maria Teresa asked Bernarda if everything was alright. Bernarda requested time off for the next day to deal with a family emergency. Mr offered help if needed.

Clemente did not reveal the cause of the fight as Trejo escorted him toward help. He only said that his father was a disgrace.

Adriana seemed amused as she talked about the desperation of some women. She told Irasema about Regina, telling her that she was deaf and perfect for this [as we flies on the wall head for the vomitorium]. Irasema was shocked at this. Adriana said that when the deaf girl shows up she'd hand her over to Grim and this would not be her problem. Adriana had no conscience because this was to avoid their own possible bad end.

Valentina told Santos about what happened he said she and Regina had not handled it correctly. They should not have lied. She was afraid that if they did not fight back nothing would ever change. This ended in an argument.

Genoveva seemed interested in Cris but there was no progress. Nani seemed on the same page as we are about Genoveva and Cris.

Trejo and Clemente ended up in the saloon with a first-aid kit and a full bottle of tequila. Clemente said his father's actions were unforgivable and asked Trejo for a loan so he could take Regina and Norma out of town.

Work went on normally at La Esperanza. Genoveva brought special cold drinks and talked with VvCris about the friendzone issue. Santos teased him and Maria Teresa arrived.

Norma met Adriana in the café and told her tale of woe about the problems of Clemente and Regina. Adriana called Bernarda ordinary and uneducated. Norma changed the subject and said her marriage seemed to have improved. She thanked Adriana for her advice. [Naïveté is so ridiculous in a woman with an adult son.]

Esteban joined Maria Teresa and the others in the fields. Santos suggested that he go to help Bernarda.

Trejo told Clemente to go home and rest. The young man did not want to go home; he wanted to be alone. Trejo said to call him if he needed help. Camila saw him in the street and asked what happened. He said he had fought with his father but did not go into detail, just saying that he did horrible things.

Regina told Valentina about a job offer but Valentina did not like this. Regina explained to her that she wanted to leave because Bernarda would never accept Clemente. Valentina saw the the reason for this, speculating on whether he was her brother.

Adriana called Remedios a faker and threatened that she and her snob friends would spread the word that she was a witch. [If only...] Remedios could not believe the others would buy this nonsense.

Episode 41: Part 2 of 3

Santos told Maria Teresa about Bernarda's issues with Regina's novio. Maria Teresa realized that Bernarda was very controlling and because of this the girls did not appreciate having a mother.

Remedios was not phased. She told then she never pretended to be what she was not “unlike you.” As she left Constanza called her a witch.

Bernarda was talking to the horses when Esteban arrived. She did not want to talk about her problems but he persisted, saying he'd be there to help.

Maria Teresa told Santos that Marco had lost a sheep. Samtos was rather blasé about this. Maria Teresa told him that because he was with Valentina she was free to be with anyone whom she wanted to.

Esteban was surprised that Bernarda was single despite having two daughters. She said she needed no one. He responded that children are a blessing but unpredictable. He said she was available if she needed parenting advice.

Norma arrived home to find Clemente packing a suitcase. She was horrified when she saw his face and asked what happened. He said that Rut was evil. She demanded an explanation so he told her what happened and what he found out. She was shocked out of her Victorian mind.

Bernarda told Esteban that all would be well with her girls. She asked about his situation and he told her he was alright but was upset that he had trusted someone he shouldn't have. He wanted to meet her daughters.

Norma would not believe Clemente. He told her that they should leave town together. He did not want her to be alone with Rut.

Maria Teresa told her father the produce was almost together and ready for delivery. He thought she was working too hard and that he was concerned about her lack of a love life. She should be meeting new people!

Norma refused to believe her son, saying she would talk to his father. Clemente told her that Rut would only lie as he had many times in the past. He finally headed toward the door saying he could not stay. She cried and begged him not to go. He said he was leaving and she should call him if she changed her mind [He should have said “come to her senses.”].

Santos obsessed about Maria Teresa trusting Marco. He was also worried about Bernarda's family situation. Cris went on about women being mysterious.

Clemente went to Camila who applied some of Remedios' salves to his face. She offered him a place to sleep if he needed it [No, not in her bed].

Norma got on Rut's case about what he had done to Clemente and demanded the truth. He tried gaslighting her again with evasion and lies and gave her an evil look.

Tierra de Esperanza 9/26/23
Episode 41: Part 3 of 3

Maria Teresa was getting ready for her date with Marco, saying he was a good person who made her laugh. Nani told her she had to have time for herself.

Rut said Clemente didn't know what he was talking about. Also that Bernarda was loca. He then got nasty with Norma, accusing her of disloyalty. He started breaking things and getting insulting. It looked like he was going to start hitting her. She cried.

Cris looked through Remedios' shelves for a potion to solve his problems.

Bernarda tried to talk to the girls. Regina got up and left the room. Bernarda tried to get Valentina to talk to Regina. Valentina told her mother that she couldn't take any more, that if she were not more forthcoming with them she would end up alone. She left.

Remedios tried to explain that these problems can't be resolved with potions. Cris thought back to kissing Genoveva as he was told to be patient.

Maria Teresa went to La Soltera alone and dined alone with Marco, who poured his own potions.

Cris went to the hacienda on the pretext of getting some mint tea. He enjoyed some light flirtation with Genoveva before leaving.

Marco told Maria Teresa that he is different since she arrived. He proposed a toast to La Esperanza and to themselves.

Adriana went to Rut's office and it looked like he would spill the beans to her.

Maria Teresa said it felt like things were falling into place. He started telling her she was beautiful and moved in for the kiss that might kill her resolve.

Thanks Urban,I enjoyed reading your recap. It sounds like Regina is ready to go to Adriana’s, and maybe Valentina too.

Clemente’s good deed to Camila has payed off for him. I hope they put their heads together and figure out at least part of what is going on.

So the woman of the town haven’t know Adriana as long as they’ve known Remedios. But they take her word over someone they’ve always known. I’m anxious for them to find out the truth about Adriana. Especially Norma, she deserves to be a lonely prude at the end of this series. Clemente looked awful, but apparently it’s ok for a father to beat his son.

At least Irasema was shocked at Adriana telling her Regina was perfect for the so called job. Maybe Irasema will help her(Regina)when the time comes.

I hope MT wakes up to the truth about Marco soon. I don’t know how she can find him fun! Hopefully he’ll leave the produce, etc. alone since he has assess to the river.

Looks like Cris and Genoveva are going to dance around each other, neither believing the other is interested. I wonder if Bernarda and Esteban will hook up? I wonder if they did in the past? We know she likes him.

TIERRA

Urban, your well-chosen, wise words were a dazzling display of sense in an episode that lacked none.

“She was shocked out of her Victorian mind” was sublime.

I’ve knocked Norma for her gullibility and much more but today I condemn her. Her treatment of her son was unforgiveable. Here the poor boy has her uppermost in his thoughts and concern asking “Trejo for a loan so he could take Regina and Norma out of town”. And what does she do? She sees Clemente’s battered and bruised face yet when he tells her what Rut did to Bernarda and she doesn’t believe him! Further, she tries to prevent him from leaving. I’m done with her.

Trejo patching Clemente up in the bar drew some interested looks but I had to smile. Pure Trejo.

Valentina is shrewd and kind and I am hoping she is able to prevent Regina from taking off from purgatory and going into hell.

I wish Bernarda had opened up to Esteban…

The Roomba looked so out of place, I had to laugh.

I coveted Adriana’s long dangling daisy earrings.

“He started telling her she was beautiful and moved in for the kiss that might kill her resolve” was the perfect description of that cringeworthy scene.

Liz, I so hope that the lost baby plot is quickly resolved. I have a feeling Paula will make Rogelio pay for it even if Jazz is quickly found. “Babies galore” had me laughing out aloud. Perfect! Who is left? Cassandra, Blanca, Ale, Aunt Pati?

Niecie, as for Violeta, “Getting her kicks out of annoying Paula?”, thay might just be enough for Violeta. It was so that she was on the bus going back to Mexico City. I probably say this every couple of weeks but I think Ignacio is a lost cause.

Susan, thank you for reminding us about “El maleficio.” If only I had more time . . . “They keep throwing stuff at us” They sure do but the saving grace is that these subplots don’t last too long (here is hoping Violeta will give up soon like on the bus) and keep me wondering what is going to happen next.

Tierra

Thanks Urban! For every detail, especailly today when I don't think I paid enough attention to any details.

Diana, I don't want to defend Norma because I don't like her, but I think that when you come home and find your son beaten to a pulp and telling you that your husband did it and 'oh yeah, by the way, he also raped the neighborhood vet!' then you should get a few minutes, maybe even a few days to just be in shock and react however you want. Besides I think she did believe Clemente, she was just too horrified to process it. It seemed clear later when she confronted Rut, that she did believe Clemente. As for begging him to stay, yeah that's pretty bad but that's also her helicopter mom default, if you're in shock and you're not processing you are going to produce your default reaction. That said, I still don't like her and I doubt she'll be any better when her few days are up.

It is nice that Clemente has Camila to turn to, but I doubt Regina will like it. I don't like that Regina is still thinking about seeking out Adriana but I am not surprised I could tell that Adriana made an impression. Then there's the question of who is Regina's father? If it isn't Rut, it could be Marco and then we are in a scenario of the wicked step-grandma selling her into prostitution - or at least trying to. If that happens, then Marco is almost assured to be Adriana's eventual downfall. This may be true even if Regina isn't his, if Marco truly cares about Bernarda as much as he claims to.

Eternamente #88

Great work, Jarifa. This story is moving right along.

It would be a good thing for Cecelia to get that single dad. Is he the father of Lucas' novia?

If Olympia's long-lost daughter rejects her that would be an appropriate fate for a woman who has been working on destroying a family.

Violetta is a narcissist and I think Paula will call her out on her BS in a few episodes. She got out of Dodge before it occurred to anyone that she was faking the allergy. Anyone with a real allergy would have asked the waiter about the ingredients of the food.

Ignacio will fall. Hard.

Finally, if Martina and Gabriel's wedding isn't for another two months how fast does Alzheimer's progress?

Tierra #41

Gracias, amigas, for your comments and insights.

You'd think that the sight of Clemente's injuries would have sent Norma running for the first-aid kit, wouldn't you? She failed right there. She does not want to face the fact that she is married to a monster. There have been small hints about her parents having benefitted from her marrying Rut but are we ever going to hear any more about that? Was she sold to him for all practical purposes?

Finally, when Marco and Adriana fall, what happens to their proprty?

My recap for #20 will up in an hour max. ¡Finalmente!

Thank you for another excellent account of our unfolding story .

I must admit that I am not paying as much attention to this show as I am to the shows before and after it. I think I just can't stand the fake farm . Every time MT dropped dejectedly to her knees in that field and poked around with some little tool while folks in the background poked around with various rakes and shovels, I cringed . Tractors and planting equipment are used for planting acres of crops that will be sold for profit . I remember Destilando Amor where we saw workers in real agave fields. Also, milking machines are used for herds of cows when you are selling milk .People do not milk herds of cows by hand . uff It just made me shake my head and throw my beanie on the floor . I am not strong enough to suspend my belief this high.

Anyhoo, Camila is beautiful and kind. Didn't Clemente help her in the past? I wondered at that time if we were going to get a May\Decenber storyline .

Adriana is disgusting , and I hope her anvil hits her hard .

Santos always looks a little sleepy to me .

Chris and Gen seem to be destined to be together . He is very laidback , while she is ultra perky .

Wonder how long before MT wakes up and smells Marco. This actor knows how yo bring the cringy ooze , but I am still confused about his seemingly tender mood toward Bernarda and who the father\fathers of her girls is\are.

Minas de Pasión - Capítulo 20, Martes, 26 de Septiembre, 2023

Everyone's current objective: make Emi look bad - Part 1/3

Tigre, who apparently loses approximately 5 brain cells per second, goes to Roberta's house, obviously uninvited, to attack her for ruining his life. Leo and Orlando (why is he here?) run to them. Leo pulls Tigre aside.

The kid whose head Nico hit accidentally is actually the annoying miner dude's (Ramiro's) kid. Uh oh. He's at hospital, the doctors say he'll be fine. Emi visits the kid, which causes Ramiro to explode with anger and scream to her that she should look after her son. She tells him she wants to speak him privately, which he declines and keeps shouting. His wife and the doctor from previously tell him to calm down. Emi leaves the room but Ramiro chases after her (yikes!)

Leo calms Tigre down. He's forced to walk out defeated. What a well-thought out plan! Now Roberta can play the victim and whine that she has to go rest. Marijó, who also came to see what's that noise, tries to tell Leo about Roberta's blackmail, but Orlando, who accompanied Tigre out, comes back and she doesn't say anything.

Things get heated between Emi and Ramiro. Guess who's there to take a live video of their fight? Sara's reporter, who kinda looks like the other annoying woman in the police station. Did they run out of actors? LOL

Gael tells Zaira he doesn't want her and dad to get divorced; she says that can't happen, because they're not married and kinda whines about Tigre not marrying her.

Emi tries to defend her son while Ramiro decides that whining to the reporters is the best way to go. He says Emi and her father have hit him too. Emi says "why don't you tell them you harass me only because I'm a woman"?

Zaira reads her taroot cards. I managed to catch she found the devil and the gold in her cards. Marijó calls Gael and tells him his dad isn't well (ya think?), he arrived drunk in their house "para reclamar las cosas" (to claim the things? Does that make any sense?) Gael thanks her and tells his mom about it and he'll go to search for him. Zaira tells him to sit down. Honestly, I'm with her.

Berta shows the live video of Emi and Ram to some random maid. When Jenny comes, she shows her it too and starts some delusional crap about divine justice. You know what would have been divine justice, Berta? If something fell on your head while you were saying this to make you shut it. Jenny just cries and whines that Mau tried to commit suicide for Emi.
Parenting 101 by Berta: she hugs Jenny, says "well, the important thing is that he's fine now" and then "there must be a solution, perhaps she [Emi] can leave town". Wow. I'm impressed.
Jenny leaves and Berta cries and says she wants to help her daughters but can't because of her annoying beliefs- I mean, Adalberto. There's a thing called "divorce", Berta.

Sara sees the live video too and laughs her butt off.

Zaira and Gael also see the video. Gael admits he knew about Nico getting bullied. Zaira screams at him for not saying anything sooner.

Seb sees the video también.

The epic fight continues; Emi says her son was bullied by Ram's kid and adds that many kids get bullied but don't talk. Ram whines to the reporter about Tigre hitting him because of a "joke" - Emi says "what you call a joke is harassment" and says that this problem, the harassment in the mines, needs to be solved. Mau pops up and takes Emi away, while shouting to the reporters. I hate you Mau, but thanks.

Sara plays the "you can always talk to me as a friend" card. Leo doesn't look like he buys it. I mean, kind of hard to buy it when the woman is kissing your cheek. Sure, very "friendly". Geez dude, can't you be more brainy when it comes to your mother?

Everyone's current objective: make Emi look bad - Part 2/3

Adalberto goes to see Míriam. They have a fight. He calls her "tontita" (silly) and she tells him not to call her that. He gives her a gift, some sort of jewelry.

Seb tells Emi all this is Leo's fault and makes an offer; they can leave town with him. Emi says no, they didn't do anything wrong. Seb tells her to think about it and leaves. Nico, who was listening to this, just runs upstairs crying.

Back to Adalberto with Míriam, she tells him that dignity can't be bought with some jewelry and that this doesn't change the way he treated her; either he treats her better or he finds another. Míriam wins more sympathy points when she doesn't take the gift. Adalberto just leaves. Geez, girl, dump him already!

Nico pretends to be asleep but is actually crying. Emi hugs him. He says he doesn't want them to go to jail. Emi promises him they won't go, she knows he didn't want to harm him [Ram's kid] and says they'll go talk to him (are you sure that's a good idea?)

It's the next day.

Sara, who still has the picture of her and Leo on her desk, talk about not getting over it, has a visit by Seb, who angrily shows her the video and demands she tells him what she had to do with this.

Leo visits Emi and tells her he wants her to forgive him, he was jealous. Emi says she and Mau were only friends, they were never together. He says he's very much in love with her and he has never fallen in love with anyone else like this before FF--> Emi forgives the guy and the have cute protagonistas moments.

Seb says she and la Patrona were the only ones that knew about Emi going to the hospital. Sara says it's not her and he should go talk to la Patrona, but he won't because he's scared he'll lose his job. She says something else I didn't catch.

Emi and Leo go to wake up Nico, but instead of Nico they find a note saying he doesn't want to cause more problems.

He actually goes to the hospital to see his bully... Oh noes...

Seb gets a message from Emi saying Nico is lost. He tells Sara (why?) and she just laughs and says he should go help Emi find him.

Jenny apparently still wants to marry Mau. Okay. She's just stupid. Sara arrives and tells her about Nico. Jenny is actually worried (geez, that goes VERY against the OG Julia). Sara says some tonterías about taking advantage of the opportunity. She asks Jenny what does she want the most? Guess her response. "To marry Mau". Shocking. Sara says more tonterías about fighting for him and some egoistical crap and leaves.

Emi and Leo search for Nico. Seb is also searching. No luck. Emi and Leo hug.

Nico goes to his bully's hospital room. He says he didn't mean to hurt him and has brought him a gift, some car toys. He says he wants them to be friends. The bully says he's sorry and adds that his dad will hit him if they're friends? WHAT?

Zaira and Gael are getting treated differently because of Tigre and Gael's prison sentence. Zaira stands up for themselves.

There was some Tigre scene I didn't catch.

Mau calls Emi and says he needs to tell her something he had to have told her years ago (uh... Mau... WTF dude. You legit expect her to forgive you?) She tells him Nico is lost and Mau volunteers to help.

Everyone's current objective: make Emi look bad - Part 3/3

Roberta gives some money to some priest. Then, she gives up THE most ridiculous moment of the show so far: she says she thinks los Sánchez are possessed because of La Cueva del Diablo 😂😂😂 LOL what?! She legit tries to convince him they're possessed and tells him about Gael "abducting" Marijó, Tigre and Emilia's "violent episodes" and Nico "almost killing" another student. At the killing part some women behind them gasp. Nice to see things being kept private. Although Roberta wasn't exactly being discreet. FF-->

Emi and Leo go to the police station by car.

The previous women are gossiping about Emi. Rob is all smiley and mumbling something. Since her vocabulary is basically 10 words, I assume she mumbled "and that's why you shouldn't mess with la Patrona, you filthy Emilia Sánchez!" or something similar.

Zaira, Gael, Emi and Leo meet up. Gael tells Emi he knew about the bullying and he's sorry. Emi says she's sure it has to do with Roberta. Zaira and Gael go to talk with her. Uh oh.

Sara hugs Leo, who's talking to Orlando, pretending she's worried and wants to help. She randomly decides to KISS Leo, who gets the usual galán paralysis. Emi of course pops up behind them and sees this.

And with Emi's cara impactada, we have the Fin del Capítulo.

Minas

Weirdo, Wow..thank you for that detailed recap.

I am confused as to why Emi was mad at Leo and he apologized . Was she mad at Leo because he was jealous of Mau and all the hugs Em gave him after helping Leo pull him up from the ledge?

Hmmmm...Is Mau actually going to tell oblivious Em that he raped her six years ago #math? Yes, he actually should have told her and gone straight to jail. Em has evidently blocked this event from her mind and doesnt realize that the guy she has been hugging and worrying about is her rapist . ugh

Sara is a slippery snake smirking and plotting to get Leo back . She is taking advantage of the common, innocent custom of greeting friends and family with a hug and a kiss to say hello or goodbye . Some of my students used to do this when they entered the classroom . Sara uses this custom to smarm all over Leo and Leo is doing that slow galan reaction . Why can't these guys give these mujeres a little push .

Guaypo Orlando seems to be everywhere all the time . I guess he and Leo go way back and are besties.

Minas I think I overdosed on stupidity watching this episode. But that scene with Roberta telling the priest Emilia's family is possessed...I have no words. I suddenly thought as if I had walked into the wrong show. This comedy was so weird. And now we'll have to suffer through a bunch of narrow-minded women believing all this stuff. These telenovelas sometimes really overdo the parts with stupid servants and ignorant small town people.
Zaira is a heroine of this episode for leaving tigre. Leeo might be cute and all that but he loses a million points for the galan paralysis moment and for believing his mother and signing those papers that M asked him to sign. And this is our galan? Really? Sebastian's connection with Nico is what I like the most actually. They try to push something similar with Leo but it just feels forced and made-up.
If Emilia does leave, how will Roberta get her gold?
I somehow can't get over the stupidity of the priest. If he believes this crap, the twon urgently needs a different padre.
Weirdo, thanks for recaping this. Btw reclamar apparently also means to complain. They usually say it when the person who is complaining is complaining to the wrong person or at least they think so.
La patrona mumbled something along the lines of 'if only you knew I'm the devil here and that I only work for myself'
Oh and Marijo again started saying something then unsuccessfuly pretended this wasn't what she meant. She was about to tell Gael was freed not because Roberta asked her to go to the police. But she changed her mind. I can't stand this.

MINAS

Weirdo, your sharp, witty tongue in cheek comments could not have been better. “Everyone's current objective: make Emi look bad” and had me nodding vigorously in agreement. You relayed every nuance and every overt action to perfection.

Tigre, who seemed kind, smart and supportive initially has morphed into drunken, bitter and revengeful. Shame.

Mau who was always drunken, bitter and revengeful still walks the path. Uh oh…as he is so very anxious to speak with Emi, I have a feeling a massive amount of (bad) tea is going to be spilled.

My hero of last night was Nico, who set aside his fear and summoned up the courage to visit and forgive his tormenter! Now knowing the kid is “actually the annoying miner dude’s (Ramiro’s) kid” (which I didn’t know Weirdo, thank you), I wonder if he put the kid up to it or if the kid is just mean and nasty, a chip off the old block (?)

“She randomly decides to KISS Leo, who gets the usual galán paralysis” was wonderful. Sara, Jennifer and Roberta all seem rather predictable. Jennifer is just pathetic. Again, I cannot overcome my disbelief Orlando could ever be interested in her.

“I hate you Mau, but thanks”, 😊 HA!

Diana

Minas

I don't know the Spanish, but in English when you " claim" something , you are indicating it is true but not actually proving it is true. Ex : " He claims he is the best dancer in his family. " Meaning he is saying this and maybe it is true, but maybe it isn't. Language has so much nuance. Even tone of voice or facial expression can affect the meaning of a word .

I am having trouble warming up to Emilia and feeling sympathetic towards her . She seems cold to me instead of troubled and tragic. I think it is the way the actress is interpreting this role.

Minas

Ha " I hate you Mau but thanks" Yes, Diana that gave me a giggle, too. I'll bet it would be fun to have lunch with Weirdo ..lots of smiles and giggles , I think.

If Mau spills the tea, it won't be truthful tea because it seems Mau thinks that encounter 6 years ago (#math) was consensual .If he brings it up to Em is it going to spark her memory or was she too drunk to really recall the exact details ?
