This will be a quickie.

Parte 1 de 2

I’ve been wondering for a long time why some of the guys wear those long suit jackets and the rest of the time the regular ones.

The intolerable Inspector Jefe Turgut Ali Duymaz del Consejo de Jueces y Fiscales gets Ridvan to open Pars office.

We see that Pars has gone down a rabbit hole of grief after the funeral. His place is a mess. Ilgaz, of course, is at work.

Ceylin shows Aylin written proof that the only Doctor Cetin in Turkey is the one Osman found.

Somehow Eren, recently shot twice in the chest, is up and around. He and Ilgaz come to rouse Parse.

Yekta spins his fable to the reporters at the courthouse: Burak was an angel and Ilgaz killed him.

Turgut Ali (hereafter TA) grills our three guys, saying that they didn’t prove Burak was guilty, and the real killer is probably still out there. Ilgaz and Eren are suspended. He says he’ll investigate the killings also.

Ceylin tells TA about how honorable the men he’s suspended are and that she’s the lawyer for Ilgaz.

TA tells Derya she’s in charge of the crimes in the well. Hmm. He’s been the nicest to Derya. Interested in her?

Our Team is in the car driving away from the courthouse. Pars blames himself. Eren wants to shoot Yekta (not a bad idea). Ilgaz stops the car and tells them they have to fight for their honor.

“Yekta goes on and on” about his defeating Our Team when Haluk looks at him like he’s a bug and reminds him that he’s in mourning and to please leave.

Ceylin tries once more to talk sense into Gul. Now Gul is mad because Ceylin hasn’t caught Serdar.

Our Team gets together to investigate. There’s a knock on the door. The rest of the gang come in: Tugce, Merve, Tolga, Parla, Cinar, Aylin, Osman, Metin, Gul, and Merdan. Gul actually gives Ilgaz a small smile. She’s had a personality transplant

Rifat begins the first of several meetings with TA, saying that no one involved him. Derya rolls her eyes. Then TA puts him in charge of the investigation of the murders at the mansion.

Parte 2 de 2

Ilgaz gets out that same old pizarra (blackboard) and Our Big Team volunteer for assignments. Gul will look into the secondhand clothes from 2012. Metin, the official car. Tugce will look into social media for Baruk. Merdan will look into the knife. They decide there’s an informant in the police. Tolga will see if he can find this out. Merdan changes his mind about the knife and says he’ll look into Yekta. Osman will look into the knife.

TA tells Derya he doesn’t want her to contact the 3 amigos. She tells Umut to let them know.

Tugce chews out the kiddos, especially Cinar, for keeping quiet about Serdar. Eventually Cinar speaks up, and the receipt for the drone from Serdar’s garbage is presented.

TA comes to dinner at his Auntie’s house. Whoa! Haluk is there and hugs TA. TA calls Haluk Uncle and, when they are alone, reveals that it was Haluk who pushed for TA to meet with Yekta.

TA accuses our three of working together. He’s not exactly neutral in what he’s doing, is he?

Mehmetcan tells Eren that Burak visited him and asked if he recognized him. He also asked if he remembered what happened. Eren realizes that this is why Mehmetcan was moved and then spared.

Tugce finds some ex of Burak by digging deeply into social media. Several times the Big Team chuckles about Tugce showing her future police chops.

Rifat shows TA “incriminating” videos about Ilgaz and Eren. TA gets a look at what an incompetent he is when he babbles excuses, but puts him in charge of the investigation anyway.

Our Team find out how Burak got the mansion. He was a reporter and learned about the heirs fighting and that it was empty.

Serdar sees the cops coming to his mother’s house, lights and siren. He runs.

Burak’s ex doesn’t know much. They met at a gym. He was a physical fitness nut.

Gul has come to Lacin’s because they’re going to the bazaar (to investigate the 2012 clothing). She sees Yekta in an upstairs window and pointblank asks Lacin what he’s doing there.

Our Team is looking for the bullet casing outside Haluk’s mansion. I wonder why such a mission doomed to failure is even shown when Ceylin sees some kind of hole inside the fence. She calls Derya, as the assigned investigator. [Hmmm. Could Rifat have given Yekta another bullet casing because he couldn’t find it. Could Our Team be that lucky?]

Serdar has tracked Yekta down. When Yekta tries his usual BS, Serdar tells him they’re in the same boat; and, if Yekta doesn’t hand over a fake passport and $$$, then he’ll turn himself in and tell all he knows about Yekta’s dealings. Yekta is given until 4PM the next day.

I had a big question and forgot to write it into the quickie. We saw Haluk and some pallbearers moving Burak's body with the green flag on it. How come he got the body when Pars had to wait what seemed like weeks on Neva's?

When Eren took a shot seemingly to the heart, I'd forgotten all about the flash forwards of him alive and feared this TN was too sad for words. But, yay!, Tugce didn't lose her dad and he's even back to work pronto.

Color me surprised that evil Burak is now gone. But thank goodness. Haluk is grieving, but it seems like he's human enough to eventually understand that his grandson was a psychopath. He at least is sick and tired of Yekta.

I guess it's good for the good guys that the missing bullet shell is in Yekta's possession. Surely that security camera means this will be revealed one day. If I were the bad guy I would've tossed the shell away never to be found.

Dondi, I'd been wondering why a great guy like Eren doesn't have a love interest. Ha! His wife is the writer. ;>

Rats! I usually watch very late. I'm a night owl anyway. But last night that miserable reality show ran over past 9PM. I thought maybe they'd just skipped the Thursday episode of Secretos de Sangre but after FF a bit I found it. I also watch later in order to skip commercials on my DVR. Sadly it cut off at 11PM, as it's programmed to do every week night. So now I'm thinking I'll need to see the last part before watching tonight. Something key was just about to happen when disaster struck. I presume I can find it on Telemundo's web site where I've gone in the past when there was, say, a power outage.

In my neck of the woods, we had a WC qualifier match last night Argentina v Ecuador. It ran over by about 9 mins or so.

I like this network of investigators. Ceylin used their 'ship name', IlCey

Not exactly sure of the relationship between TA and Haluk. Maybe a close friend of the family. Probably not blood but he calls him "amca" out of respect.

I've started a Thursday recap. It will be up tomorrow morning. And hopefully I can get the Friday recap up over the weekend, too.


 

Secrets # 74 part 1

Quote for Turkish ep 42: "Whenever we run from something, we run straight into something else." - Michael Balint

Yekta makes a phone call—I need a passport asap. He gives no other details to whomever the person on the other end.

Derya and the forensics team arrive at the location to look for the 4th bullet.
Unfortunately, Turgut Ali arrives soon after. He’s suspicious that the gang’s all there. Ceylin tells him she found the possible bullet and informed Derya. Derya tells TA (thanks, novelera), now that you’re here, we can review it together.

TA asks what the rest of the group are doing there. Ceylin says she couldn’t drive, so hubby Ilgaz brought her. Pars says since he and Eren are currently out of work, they came to take in a breath of sea air. He tells Eren, let’s get the chairs out of my car. They head to the beach. Ilgaz waits by the cars.

Pars and Eren set up the chairs on the beach. Pars tells Eren he had bought the chairs for Ilgaz’s van but never got the chance to give him the gift. They were meant for use today. Eren relaxes in a chair. It’s like Miami, he comments. As if you’ve been to Miami, Pars replies. I saw it several times on TV, Eren says.

A taxista gets Ozgur’s attention while driving on the highway. He tells him the rear tire is deflated. There’s a gas station ahead if you want to put air in it. Ozgur pulls into the station, but the tires don’t look flat. He tries to use the air machine. It doesn’t work. He goes inside the station.

While Yekta sits in the car, a big truck pulls alongside, lifts the car on to its flatbed and drives away with a panicked, screaming Yekta inside. His phone doesn’t work. Ozgur comes out and no car, no Yekta.

Goksu opens the utility box where the hole was found, and she quickly finds the bullet. Derya says, take it to ballistics immediately and see if it matches the seized weapon. TA congratulates Ceylin on her follow through. TA offers to take Derya back to the courthouse, but she takes pleasure in telling him she’s got her own car.

TA shoots Ilgaz a look as he leaves. The ladies have a quick second of secret celebration. Then Ceylin rushes to hug Ilgaz.

Eren notices the cars leaving, he packs up with Pars. Ilcey brings them the good news. Pars asks Ceylin if she told Derya about Mehmetcan being questioned by Burak. Not yet, because TA showed up.

Aylin and Osman find out where Burak bought Samet’s medicine. She gripes about having to do this job with him and walks away. She gets a call from The Faker. He’s outside the hospital and wants to meet her.

Parla calls Ceylin. They are at Burak’s gym. He has a locker there, but they can’t get into it. Ilcey head over there.

Gul and Lacin show up at the second hand shop. The owner has that brand of clothing, and she recognizes Burak when Gul shows her a pic.

Ilcey arrive at the gym. There’s no parking space in front so Ilgaz drops her off. He tells her not to do anything, wait for him first.

Ceylin enters and meets the manager. He tells her he has no authority to open the locker. Don’t open it, Ceylin replies, there are probably drugs inside. He looks alarmed. Ceylin says she will report it and there will be an investigation.

The manager decides to cooperate. He opens the locker and warns, don’t involve me in this. Ceylin searches the locker and finds a key.

 

secrets # 74 part 2

Aylin meets the Faker. He hands her a box as soon as she sits in the car. He’s excited and tells her to open it. She looks somber. It’s a fancy red dress. She’s not pleased. He questions, don’t you like it? She hands him the file on the real Dr. Cetin. I know you’re not a doctor, she tells him, and your name isn’t Cetin. Who are you? Fake Cetin looks down and says nothing. Aylin continues, if you tell me why you’re lying, if you tell me the truth, I won’t leave you. I’ll stay by your side. [good grief, woman!]

I wish I could tell you, Faker replies. You wish? Aylin asks, what’s that supposed to mean? Tell me the truth! He reaches for her, and she backs away. No! He asks her to look at him and says, can’t you see how much I love you? I’m crazy about you. [how about just plain crazy.] Aylin insists on the truth. Damn it, he replies, you think I don’t want to tell you? I want to tell you everything, and build a life together, but I can’t! It’s forbidden. [this is so messed up.]

The Faker continues, it’s true, I’m not a doctor and my name isn’t Cetin. But I can’t tell you why I lied. I can’t tell you my real name. I’m crazy in love and my heart beats only for you. Trust me, my name doesn’t matter. It matters to me, Aylin replies, I can’t love someone I don’t know or a liar. She gets out of the car and so does he. She throws the dress in his face and walks away.

Ilgaz enters the gym. He’s a bit ticked that they didn’t wait for him. Ceylin says the locker was open. She gives Ilgaz the key. Cinar backs up Ceylin’s story.

Yekta’s car is unloaded in a field in the middle of nowhere. A masked man gets out of the truck with a signal jammer and puts it under the car. Yekta shouts to no avail. Don’t leave, I’ll give you money! Yekta is stranded. He’s crying… I’m laughing.

Ceylin updates Derya. They found the store where Burak bought the clothes. The clerk is a witness. She tells the DA about Burak’s news articles connecting him to the mansion. Next, they need to find the license plates. Metin found out where they were manufactured. Ceylin says they will have to depend on Derya. She adds they haven’t found out anything about the ether or the knife. It is shocking to know Burak asked Mehmetcan if he knew him.

Ceylin continues, Burak is a murderer. There’s plenty of evidence, witnesses, and recordings that prove it. If Ballistics confirm the shell came from Eren’s weapon, the shadow over Ilgaz will be lifted and his innocence will be proved.

Derya is a little worried. I know we’re fine, we’re strong, but I feel like we are falling into a bottomless pit. I feel like we are doing something illegal. [welcome the world of Ceylin, Derya.] I can’t shake the feeling we are working in vain. We can’t let that happen, Ceylin replies, the lives of the men we love are on the line. Someone wants to tarnish their honor. We have to remain hopeful.

Ilgaz calls Ceylin. I think we know what the key belongs to. Tolga learned of a house registered in Burak’s name, which has been rented for the last 3 years. However, that’s a lie, the papers were forged. The key probably belongs to that house. Ceylin will meet up with him.

Goksu rushes to Anil with great news—the bullet was from Eren’s gun! This confirms Ilgaz statement. Goksu wants to send it to Rafet at once. Anil says to send it out to multiple people, DA Derya and the homicide detectives, so it won’t be ignored or go missing.

Ilgaz opens the house door with the key. Be careful, don’t touch anything. The three amigos make their way through the dark. It’s empty. Ilgaz finds a locked door and breaks it down. It’s Burak’s HQ. There are license plates and computer equipment. A gallon of ether. Clothes hanging. Pars spots pictures on the wall. Burak pasted the victims faces over his own family’s picture.

 

secrets # 74 part 3

Derya meets Rafet at the house. TA shows up, too. Derya fills him in and says this will be over soon. TA asks, who found the house? Derya replied, I did, thanks to the information Ceylin provided. Everything was done legally as it should. We see our crew watch from a distance in Ilgaz’s car.

Cops have come to free a panicking Yekta. He’s not very grateful, and yells at the cop. I almost suffocated on my own breath! [they should have left them there to suffocate] The cop says we were notified, and we found you thanks to this good man. Yekta asks for food or water. Lol, the cop gives him an almost empty bottle of water. Yekta is disgusted at first, but he must really be thirsty—he gulps down the remaining ounces. [what was the point of this kidnapping?]

Ilgaz has a sleepless night, worrying about what will happen now. Ceylin offers encouragement. Today will be an easy day. You will give your statement like the brave man you are. We found everything we needed to find. You’ll be back at work tomorrow.

They cut a sweet little scene with Tugce sending her father off. Eren looks nice in a suit.

Derya picks out a tie for Pars, one that matches her clothes [lol how sweet]. Pars tells her he couldn’t have survived this without her by his side. A hug, and Derya leaves a little lipstick on Pars’ cheek.

Ilgaz, Pars and Eren enter the courthouse to meet with TA. Yekta is already there. Ridvan lets him know the 3 men are outside his office. TA takes his sweet time responding. Our gang waits nervously. Derya refers to TA as an odd man. She thinks this will take a while and goes to get coffee.

Yekta gets a call. I think it’s Haluk calling for an update. Yekta tells him to come to the courthouse for the decision. Ceylin goes over to him. She says, your last minute visit won’t change anything. Yekta answers, you’ll never understand why some show up at the last minute. I love to score the winning goal at the last minute. Ceylin replies, it’s over for you this time.

Ceylin asks, why are you bothering Lacin? Why are you visiting her home? Yekta replies, she had some shame and insisted I stay with her. That’s my home now, too. Lacin can’t live without me.

Ridvan comes out of the office and says TA won’t be taking any statements today. The initial statements were enough. You will have to wait for his report. Eren wonders why TA called them in. Pars says it’s likely he will tell them they are fired.

TA emerges from his office and walks down the hall without saying a word to anyone. Everyone follows him outside, where the press assembles. Reporters ask, Special Prosecutor, have you come to a conclusion? Was Burak really a killer? Did DA Ilgaz kill him on purpose? Will they be fired?

Ladies and gentlemen, TA begins, I’ve finished writing my report. The details are confidential. But I’d like to share some facts with you. Pars thinks this is going to be bad for them. Haluk arrives on the scene.

 

secrets # 74 part 4

TA continues, what I initially believed when I first arrived and the conclusions I’ve come to, show me my initial assertions were correct. This wasn’t a waste of time and I’d like to note that I’m very happy with the results. Based on the footage found at the house registered to Burak Yildirim, we have determined that he pushed those he held into killing each other and that he killed the sole survivor of this deadly battle, Judge Neva Seckin, by strangulation.

Furthermore, all evidence found in that home confirmed that he’d taken the lives of 10 individuals all of whom were innocent. If he had survived, he would have been sentenced to life in prison.

Yekta turns to Haluk and claims that the evidence is false. A fabrication!

TA says, on my way here, I was certain that the AG, the DA, and the Inspector, carried out their duties with great care. Then you must wonder why I came here. I had to silence those who slandered us and who were receiving special treatment. I’m not the least surprised by my findings. AG Pars did not abuse his power and the other parties committed no irregularities. DA Ilgaz did not break any laws during his arrest of Burak Yildirim.

It’s not always easy to find the truth, TA concludes. Some do it behind a desk and others do it in the field. Don’t ask me why a DA was taken into custody, why a gang paying out bribes was quietly arrested, why Komiser Eren broke up a father-daughter relationship. They went the fastest way to the end goal and did it correctly. I’m proud to have my colleagues reinstated and I hope the city is grateful to have such honest officers. Thank you.

Eren turns to Pars, should we celebrate? Yes, Pars replies, and I hope this won’t happen again. Ilcey hug.

Yekta gripes to Haluk. Turgut Ali was supposed to be our man? Wasn’t he supposed to accept our objections and invalidate the evidence? What happened? Haluk tells Yekta to shut up. You heard it. Burak was called a murderer. They set everything up to justify themselves. Now everyone will believe Burak was a murderer.

Yekta asks if Haluk is giving up. We shouldn’t accept defeat, he says. I’ve saved my most valuable card for the end. Do you want me to play it? Use it, Haluk replies, use everything you have!

And we are out.

What a pleasure to recap a 1 hour episode!

It was a fun episode. The gang united and with a purpose. Nothing can stop them.

I remember those chairs in Pars' trunk from season one. He still hasn't given them to Ilgaz! It must have been obvious to TA that they were making fun of him, in a respectable way, of course.

It was so much fun seeing Yekta's adventures.

From the beginning I didn't understand why Ilgaz even had to make a warning shot. The suspect was shooting, the officer was down. If Ilgaz did not shoot, the suspect would turn and shoot Ilgaz. Just that situation alone warrants the use of a deadly force - whether the suspect was innocent of anything else or not.

Gracias, Dondi. That was such a fun one, and I'm glad you caught a break with the single episode. When I watched, I didn't understand Pars and Eren relaxing on the lawn chairs, but what a hoot.

I don't know who set up Yekta, but it was a joy seeing him captive and going loco in the chauffeur-driven car he had luxuriated in.

The TA actor reminds me of Teller of the Penn and Teller magicians. And TA was just as quiet as Teller, before he announced his clearing of Ilgaz and Eren. Seems like TA would like to get to know Derya better.

So Gul and Lacin got involved in investigating Burak, with the old clothes. I'm surprised Gul pitched in to help.

I gave too much credit to Haluk. He's not looking at the facts at all but being manipulated by Yekta.

Thanks so much, dondi. You cleared up some things I didn't understand. I appreciated your including all of TA's remarks to the press. What a surprise twist that was! I guess we're meant to understand the scrupulous care he took to distance himself from the 3 amigos so there could be no question of his cooperating with them.

Yes, the Faker might be "just plain crazy". Looks like Aylin is a lot like her mother. Just when you think she's all in on something, she surprises you. Throwing the red dress was perfect! I think we'll probably see the reason the Faker has for hiding his real identity. Sounded like he was trying to hint at being part of the Turkish version of the CIA.

Thanks for writing about the "signal jammer". I had no idea what the guy put under the car. Also loved: "he's crying..I'm laughing". How can they ever come up with a punishment harsh enough for Yekta?

I got a kick out of Cinar's grin when Ceylin came out of the gym telling Ilgaz that the locker was open. For once her rule breaking got them the evidence they needed that Burak had a hidey-hole.

Anil is definitely onto Rifat. He made sure the bullet casing evidence didn't just go to him. Will we get to see his faking one for Yekta?

As I've said before, My TV fits in an entertainment center with doors, so I miss details. I did not notice the pasted on faces of the victims.

I can't imagine who would have had the money and resources to take Yekta away in the car his dirty dealings got him. Probably another flashback in Viewerville's future.

As you said, dondi, the Yekta actor is doing a great job. I especially loathe the way his head moves sort of convulsively when he's gloating. "Lacin can't live without him!" He's a complete sociopath, as we could have gathered from his complete lack of love for Engin.

Haluk is delusional. I suppose we're meant to understand that losing all the rest of his family meant he clung like mad to the one he had left. Wasn't there a hint that Baruk actually started or caused the fire that killed his family when he was 12?

I found some videos online of the Eren actor Ugur Aslan singing. He seems like such a charming and talented guy.

I thoroughly enjoyed Yekta’s wild ride. I was thinking Merdan might have done it to keep Yekta away from the action while the team got TA to reinstate them. Yekta is always interrupting! Merdan seems to have power to pull off things like that. IIRC, Merdan even changed his “assignment” to Yekta. Anyway, it was fun to watch. The Yekta actor is indeed excellent, but the character makes me crazy! Great recaps and comments! You are very much appreciated as you help us make sense of it all!

Secrets #75 part 1

Haluk gives Yekta the go ahead to play his trump card. Yekta warns it won’t be easy. No matter the war I wage, I always get my victory. Let them think they won for now. Haluk replies, [Turkish] I’ll keep an open account for you. I lay out all my possessions, my wealth, my life, everything I have! Just don’t send me to the next world with this problem. [what a carrot to dangle in front of Yekta!]

The three amigos come to see TA. He welcomes Pars as the owner of the office. He thanks Ridvan for his services. Pars thanks TA for being fair, transparent, and honest. TA says he was backed into a corner with a few pieces of evidence. He asks why they were at the crime scene.

Ilgaz replies it was like TA said earlier—we do field work. The house couldn’t have been an easy find, TA says. The door wasn’t forced open. You must have found the keys. He calls their methods questionable. TA has nice words for each of them and he says he hopes he never sees them again, but he’s always available for tea or coffee. They laugh.

TA leaves them with some advice. Some of your issues could be due to your Chief of Police. I suggest you look into it. He tells Eren he should be ready. A letter from the Ministry of Internal Affairs could be on its way. Eren nervously asks why. TA replies, you may be ready to be Chief Inspector Eren. It’s about time you were promoted. TA leaves.

Ozgur lurks around the station and signals Cinar to come over. He says he’s here to help. Cinar shows a spark of intelligence and says he wants no help from him or Serdar. Adios. Ozgur pulls him back. Hear me out. Serdar ruined both our lives. I caught him. Cinar tries to leave again. Ozgur says that Serdar plans to leave tonight. He’ll disappear. He’s getting a fake passport. Someone will meet him at his place at 4p.

How can you be sure, Cinar asks, how do you know? I have my connections, Ozgur replies. Cinar asks, if you have connections, why are you here? Ozgur says he made his father a promise. I closed the store, and he will pay my debts. I have to pay everything off before I get in trouble. That’s why I can’t go after that guy. But I thought you’d want to make him pay.

That spark in Cinar’s intelligence is extinguished. That bastard won’t get away, he promises, don’t worry. Ozgur opens his jacket to reveal a gun in his waistband. Don’t go unarmed. You might need it. [oh no, Chekhov’s gun?]

Cinar calls Parla. The girls are thrilled about their victory over Burak. Parla’s mood changes after the call. She tells her friends they are going after Serdar. Cinar knows where he is.

Everyone is back where they belong. Ilgaz in his office, Ceylin visits. Eren gets his gun and badge back, to Rafet’s displeasure. Pars enjoys coffee in the AG seat with Derya

Gul calls Ceylin. She wants to invite everyone over the house for a celebration dinner tonight. [Gul looks happy. Has hell frozen over?]

A guy comes to Serdar’s hideout with the goods—the passport and a big bag of money. Serdar complains about his fake name. A gun is in the bag, too, just in case.

A man comes to Merdan’s place and shows him Serdar’s passport photo. He says this guy asked for a passport. An urgent request. He’ll get it around 4p. Where is he, Merdan asks.

Serdar is about to take off, when Cinar and the girls show up. Serdar says he’ll give them money to let him go. He digs in the bag and pulls out the gun. Serdar starts ranting. Parla shouts, you killed my grandfather you idiot! Serdar answers back, your stupid grandfather was going to kill Cinar!

 

Secrets #75 part 2

Cinar pulls his gun and Serdar fires. Fortunately, the gun wasn’t loaded. Cinar takes the gun and orders Serdar to kneel. Tugce wants to call Eren. Cinar stops her. [dondi shouts—don’t listen to him Tugce!] Cinar orders Parla to call Gul. Merve as a voice of reason—you can’t kill him! Call the police! Cinar says this is why we are doing this. Call your grandma! Parla takes her phone out and we see a crumpled paper fall out, too. [Chekhov’s paper?]

Gul is cooking in the kitchen. She asks Aylin for help. Osman comes with items from the store. Parla calls and cries to her grandma, I have something to tell you. Gul hears Cinar in the background. Parla puts the phone on speaker. Cinar tells her, I have your husband’s killer! Come here and decide his fate. I’ll send the location. Gul is stunned. [is it too much to hope she calls the cops? You bet!] Cinar holds his gun to Serdar’s head and threatens to kill Serdar.

Gul shows up with Aylin and Osman and Merdan. Merdan yells at Cinar to stop. Wow, Gul is speechless.

Suddenly we are at the celebratory dinner. Half of the participants, the ones who met with Serdar, are not in a celebratory mood. Parla looks like she’s on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Defne picks up on the vibe. She asks if they are fighting again. No one is speaking to each other. Cinar says that’s not the case. Merve says they are hungry.

Ceylin asks where’s Aylin. Gul nervously answers, she spilled food on herself and is changing. Eren notes that Cinar is wearing a turtleneck. Aylin returns and Gul asks her weird questions about the stove. Is everything alright? [Something is up.]

There are comments about TA. They didn’t expect him to be so fair. Eren says when he heard TA was from Ordu, he figured he was related to Burak, and he would put them through hell. Ilgaz is thankful for the work everyone did, their impeccable work. We were successful. You are my family. I have a beautiful family.

Ceylin proposes a toast to those who laugh, cry, share your woes, keep your secrets. Goodbye to our problems. I welcome our “dear family’.

Switch to a couple of boys at the city dump. A cop car shows up. The kids found something.

Ilgaz asks for Merdan. He hasn’t arrived yet. Metin says he wasn’t answering his calls. Cinar says he’s probably busy. [I can guess] Ceylin speaks to Parla, but she doesn’t respond. Her face is all red.

Gul sends Parla to the kitchen to get more bread. She breaks down in the kitchen. Cinar gets up to get ice. He asks if she’s okay. She’s not, she’s scared. What happened was terrifying.

Flashback. Cinar is holding Serdar. Aylin shouts at Serdar and so does Gul. Parla attacks him and Serdar is able to grab the gun away from Cinar. Osman makes a move. There’s a shot and it looks like someone hits Serdar over the head. Lots of shocked faces. End flash.

Cinar tries to comfort Parla and encourages her to be strong. Eren calls Cinar—where’s that ice? Tugce wants to go to the kitchen to check. Ceylin tells her to sit. The doorbell rings and Tugce wants to answer it. Ceylin says she will go.

Merdan has arrived. He’s surprised to hear Ilgaz asked for him. Merdan feels a bit dizzy and tells Ceylin he skipped lunch.

Now Pars notices that the young ones look a little stressed. Tugce blames it on school. Pars says that’s nothing, life can get worse. Ilgaz agrees and tells them to keep up the good work and don’t get into trouble. [too late]

 

Secrets #75 part 3

Merdan enters the dining room. Tugce tells him he should wash his hands before he sits down. She will show him where the bathroom is. He looks confused. Gul offers to take Merdan. When they are out of earshot of the guests, Gul asks, what happened? Is he alive? Yes, Merdan replies, he’s fine. He’s awake now. Thank God, she says, if something had happened to him I'd never forgive myself. What did you do? Where is he? Merdan says, don't worry, he's safe.

Rafet is in his office, eating and watching La Liga. Barcelona v Valencia. Umut enters his office and says a body was found at the dump. Rafet asks if there were witnesses. Umut says no. There were kids there who called it in. Rafet is more interested in the crappy meal he ate and the game than he is in the case. Umut tells him he will send a team. Rafet asks for Eren. Then he leaves the office.

Merdan comes back to the table and the nervous guests look for a sign that everything’s okay. Gul gives a hidden message—everyone’s here and we can celebrate. Everyone’s fine and our wounds are starting to heal.

Rafet calls Eren. Aylin shows him to the kitchen so he can take the call there. Eren tries to throw something in the trash, but Aylin stops him—it’s full, it stinks. She’ll take care of it. It looks like clothes are in the bag.

Rafet asks if he’s interrupting because he heard a woman’s voice. Eren says he’s at a family dinner. Rafet has an assignment for him. Eren tells him he’s still out on leave. You wanted to get your job back, Rafet replies, your badge, and your gun. Do you know how many murder cases we had while you slept? Eren reminds Rafet he was in the hospital. Rafet is a bastard.

Ceylin asks, where’s Osman? He wouldn’t miss a night like this. Aylin says he couldn’t come. Nervous looks between those who were at Serdar’s place. Defne notices that Parla looks sad. Ceylin asks Aylin about it and Aylin says she argued with Osman. Don’t bring it up, we’re getting divorced.

We see Osman in bed. He was shot in the arm and he’s not doing well.

Yekta makes it back to Lacin’s house. Lacin opens the door for him and asks what’s that smell? Where were you? Yekta is short with her—don’t ask… don’t ask! You smell like garbage, she says. Yes, he replies, I was at the dump! I wasn’t there by choice. Yekta takes off his coat and his hand is bloody. Lacin is alarmed. Yekta says it’s nothing. She wants to tend to it. Yekta wants to take a shower first.

Eren was assigned the body at the dump case. And it’s Ilgaz’s turn to be the DA. Tugce asks, who died? Eren answers, why do you care? It’s confidential anyway. Those who were with Serdar start to worry. Some of the guests say it’s time to leave, but Gul insists that everyone stay for dessert and tea.

The kids lead the cops to the body. It’s Serdar. We get a brief flashback to the incident.

Ceylin tells Ilgaz she wants to spend the night at her mother's house.

Lacin takes care of Yekta’s hand. She wants to know how this happened. He says, remember that incident that led to my last hospitalization? They are back. I thought they were homeless fools, but they represent the other party in one of my cases. They threatened me and wanted me to quit. I refused. They beat me and left me at the dump.

Yekta continues, they locked me in a container and said it would be my final resting place. Lacin is worried. Will they continue to threaten you? Yekta says he doesn't care. He will never give up. I’ve devoted my life to this career, and I won’t give up! I’ll have them imprisoned the first chance I get! Lacin tells him to call the police. No, he replies, I won’t let anyone say that Yekta Tilmen was humiliated. Let me handle it. Please don’t tell anyone. [does this have anything to do with Serdar?]

 

Secrets #75 part 4

Ilgaz and Eren arrive at the dump and are stunned to find Serdar.

Gul and Aylin are worried when Ceylin says she will spend the night there.

Ilgaz calls Pars and tells him that dead Serdar was dumped at the dump.

Aylin has that flashback to Serdar’s place. She acts nervous around Ceylin. Ceylin wants to throw away that bag of garbage. Aylin shouts—stop! Ceylin wants to know why Aylin is so nervous. She grabs the bag and takes it outside.

Gul tries to get Osman to eat. He can’t eat. He’s shivering.

Aylin tells Gul that Ceylin took the black garbage bag. Flashback. Gul stuffs clothes into the bag--Merdan said we have to put our clothes into this bag. Everyone puts their clothes in. Aylin has Osman’s bloody clothes. End flash.

Aylin goes into the girls’ room. She tells them Ceylin is spending the night. We have to stay calm.

Ceylin looks for her mother and almost walks in on Gul and Osman. Ceylin wonders if everyone is going to bed. Gul tells her to go upstairs so they can sit and talk.

Ceylin goes to the girls’s room. She asks again, what’s going on? You thought I wouldn’t notice you were acting strange? You were nervously staring and signaling each other at the table. Merve says they’re just tired. Nothing’s wrong. Tugce thinks they are all still processing what happened with Burak. Ceylin is proud of everyone. They worked so hard. And she thanks Gul for opening her heart, forgetting the past and forgiving.

Cinar is looking at his neck in the mirror. It’s red. He has that flashback to Serdar’s place. Metin comes to his room. Cinar quickly wraps a hoodie around his neck.. He tells his father he has a lot of tension in his neck. Metin tells him to put on something warm. Cinar quickly slips on the hoodie.

Metin says it was strange at dinner. But it’s over now and everything is fine. It’s important to be a family. We’re a big family now. Merdan walks in on the convo. Metin gets up to go check on Defne.

Cinar closes his door and asks grandpa, tell me that bastard isn’t dead. Merdan answers, he’s alive, don’t worry. Merdan looks worried.

The investigation goes on at the dump. Eren speaks to the kids who found Serdar. They say they found a girl’s body there last year. Eren says he will take them to the station for statements. He assures them there’s no reason to be afraid.

Ilgaz calls Anil over for an update. Anil says that Serdar was hit hard. There are signs of internal bleeding. There’s also an injury to his neck and shoulder caused by a sharp object. A blunt object was used on the back of his head. But he needs to do an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. He estimates the time of death was 3 or 4 hours ago. Ilgaz says to take the body to the morgue.

Ilgaz wishes they could have caught Serdar before he died so justice could have been served. Eren calls this divine justice. He was killed because he killed. Eren asks Ilgaz if he has any ideas who did this. He doesn’t. Eren notes that Serdar had a lot of enemies. It will be a long investigation. Will you give Ceylin the good news? Ilgaz admonishes Eren.

Next morning, Pars heads over to the station to meet with Ilgaz and Eren about Serdar’s case. He has a cute exchange outside the courthouse with Derya. He brings tost for Ilgaz and Eren.

Ilgaz says there were no witnesses. We don’t know if he was killed at the dump or left there after he died. Rafet barges into Eren’s office. He’s surprised to see Ilgaz and Pars. He asks, what happened at the dump? I left the report on your desk, Eren replies.

 

secrets #75 part 5

Rafet says he’ll go read it now. Pars stops him, chief, we need to talk…not, now… in the courthouse. Be in my office in an hour. Pars tells the guys he’s suspicious of Rafet after TA’s comment. I’m going to fire him. Ilgaz thinks they should be careful, Rafet could be the informant. Ilgaz leaves to bring the news to Ceylin.

Aylin brings breakfast to Osman. She can’t wake him. He has a fever. She calls her mother. He needs a doctor. Aylin starts to panic. Gul reminds her that Ceylin is in the house. They remove the covers and there’s a lot of blood in the bed. Ceylin calls for her mother and sister. Gul leaves the room. Ceylin asks about breakfast, she’s starving.

Haluk has summoned Yekta to an empty office space in a high rise. “Yekta goes on and on” about how busy he is and doesn’t have much time, he’s sorry the reporters are a bother. Burak is innocent. He was the perfect young man. They fabricated evidence. I’ll never give up! blah, blah, blah.

Haluk has finally heard enough. I don’t care about the press. I know the truth. That’s not why I called you here. I love tall buildings. They make me feel better. Probably because I can see the horizon. You might be hurting, but if you look at things from above, the pain doesn’t disappear, but you will be able to see those who inflicted the pain. You will be able to destroy them, and your heart will be relieved.

Yekta looks a little concerned. Haluk says this place is 450 square meters. Is it enough? You will fight against them in every case they work. If they make a complaint, you will argue against it. Are these 450 meters enough to crush them and take their peace of mind? Yekta says it is enough. Haluk holds up the keys. Congratulations on your new office space, Tilmen. He grabs the keys in his fist and adds, but you only work for me. Yekta nods and Haluk hands over the keys.

Ilgaz brings the news to Gul’s house. Serdar…. Ceylin interrupts, did you find that idiot? Yes… Ilgaz replies, but he’s dead. Gul freaks out. That can’t be! That’s impossible! No, Serdar can’t be dead, she cries. The others are in shock. “Gul goes on and on” He can’t be dead…No! No! Aylin and Ceylin try to calm her.

Ceylin asks Ilgaz, what happened? Who’s responsible? Ilgaz says the investigation is ongoing and it’s confidential, but he will tell because it concerns them, too. We think he died yesterday afternoon. His body was found at the dump after it was reported. That’s why Eren was called. Tugce asks, you’re going to investigate the case? Great… the culprit won’t get away with it.

How did he die, Ceylin asks. Ilgaz thinks he might have been beaten to death. We will know more once the autopsy is done. Gul is still very upset. Ceylin would have preferred prison for Serdar, but she says it’s one less idiot in the world. She comforts her mother, Dad’s soul can finally rest in peace.

Cinar pours breakfast tea at the table. He’s wearing a turtleneck again. Metin passes through the room and sees the news report about Serdar on TV. Cinar rushes into the room and gasps. Merdan comes into the room, too. He looks puzzled, his eyes meet Cinar’s.

Ceylin notes how affected the girls are about the Serdar news. I understand he was a friend for a while, and that you’re in shock, but should you really be so upset? Besides, if he was still alive, who knows what trouble we would make for us!

Gul is still upset. Ceylin doesn’t understand her mother’s reaction either. Aylin says, if he’d been taken to court, he would have confessed and begged for forgiveness. He would have gone to prison. Mom probably feels it was an easy out. Ceylin agrees on that point. Ilgaz has to go, and Ceylin says she will go with him. She tells Gul not to be sad.

 

secrets #75 part 6

Ceylin tells Ilgaz she wants to see Serdar… so she can spit in his face. Ilgaz says no way. He tells her to focus on her own work. Don’t give into the anger inside you. He’s dead. He’s gone. Ceylin says she will use her right to be happy. She feels like a weight has been lifted from her. I hope he’s in Hell, she says, I hope he burns in a fierce fire. I hope the demons feast on him. I hope they slam him against the wall again and again! I want him to die again and again! I don’t know why Ilgaz looks so surprised at this outburst. He asks her if she’s done. She smiles and laughs, I’m done.

Cinar chases after Merdan as he takes Defne to school. Do you have anything to say, he asks his grandpa. [stupid… why does he ask in front of Defne?] Merdan tells him to gather everyone at the terrace in an hour. Defne asks Merdan if he has a secret with Cinar just like they have. He tells her no, she’s his only confidant.

Back to the upset at the Erguvan house. Parla sobs on her mother’s shoulder. Gul rants, he said he was fine…that he was alive and well. Did he lie to me? Tugce comments, look at the position that idiot Serdar has put us in. [how about that idiot Cinar? If only he had told the cops.]

Merve jumps up and says she’s going. She declares, regardless of what happened, he was my friend. Tugce responds, he was a murderer! Merve replies, what he did was wrong, but he didn’t deserve to die! He shouldn’t have been killed like that! Tugce says, you should have thought about that before you attacked Serdar. Maybe I have a guilty conscience, Merve shouts and leaves. Parla continues to cry loudly.

Gul tells Aylin she’s going to speak with Merdan. The phone rings. They hesitate to answer.

Merve leaves the house and Ceylin, who is still outside with Ilgaz, calls out to her. Merve just keeps walking. Ceylin notes the girls have been acting strange since yesterday.
Yekta makes a condolence call to Serdar’s mother, Kerime. She’s wailing over her son’s death. He tells her that Serdar was his close friend and client. He loved Serdar dearly. I don’t know if I’ll get used to him being gone, he says. As someone who has lost a son, I understand your grief. That’s why I’m here to help you. I want to punish and make the person who killed Serdar pay, asap!

Kelime continues to wail. Yekta hands her a POA to sign, so he can get to work, and they can go to the morgue. The notary will be here soon.

Ceylin meets with Lacin at a restaurant. She can’t believe that Lacin let Yekta back in. That man is a walking lie machine. You believed he was sick. Lacin says it’s different this time. Ceylin is 1,500% sure that Yekta paid off the doctor. Do you have a second or third opinion? Lacin does not. Ceylin says, you’re not an idiot, I don’t know why you’re doing this.

Lacin checks her phone. There is a message. Who is it? Lacin begins, Omer lost his mother a month ago. Before she died, she told him Yekta was his father. Ceylin is surprised, but not really surprised. Omer looked for me, Lacin says. He was really looking for Yekta. You know he was living at the hardware store. I didn’t want him to see his father in that dump. Ceylin doesn’t understand.

Lacin continues, imagine you are 25 and just found out about your father but the man is a mess. Omer doesn’t deserve that. He grew up without a father [maybe a blessing since his father is Yekta] and his mother recently died. Doesn’t he deserve a home? Maybe he will visit my house. He could have dinner with his father there. He could have his own room and stay sometimes.

 

secrets #75 part 7

Wait, Ceylin interjects, let’s say this man exists and he’s Yekta’s son. How do you fit into this? I want Omer to have a family, Lacin replies. Are you sure you’re thinking about Omer, Ceylin asks. Are you back with Yekta and putting up with him so Omer can be reunited with his father? Yes, Lacin answers, why else?

Ceylin pauses…look…you’re obviously putting him in your son’s place. In Engin’s place. I know this is hard to hear, but you’re trying to create a new family for yourself. [Whatever happened to Murat?] Ceylin gets up from the table. Yekta cheated on you. Even though he’s lied to you many times, you forgive him. For what? How do you feel? What is your purpose in life? You’re trying to satisfy your needs, not Omer’s.

Ceylin leaves and gets a call from someone named Arda. The man is distraught. He asks for Ceylin’s help. My wife and daughter are missing! Something happened to them! Help! Ceylin says she’s on her way.

Eren is at the crime lab. He speaks to Anil while Goksu is focused on her work. How are the wedding plans going? In the Turkish Anil says, as if there is a chance. Eren replies, it is not known when a person will meet his fate. The men laugh. [wait, what? Anil and Goksu are a couple? Or is Anil just sweet on Goksu?]

Ilgaz arrives and wants an update. Anil found GSR on Serdar’s finger. Goksu adds it was on his finger and his clothes, He probably fired a shot. Ilgaz notes there was no gun at the scene. He asks, did you find any gunshot wounds? Anil says no but there were neck wounds. He will know more when he does the autopsy.

Goksu says they found DNA under Serdar’s nails. Anil adds there were hair strands in his hands. Goksu is going to test those. She says there were blood splatters, but they don’t belong to Serdar. Eren says it’s thought that he was killed elsewhere and left at the dump. Ilgaz wonders whose blood was at the scene. [we know Osman was bleeding, so was Yekta]

Aylin takes care of Osman. He’s doing better. She starts to cry. Why are you crying, he asks. Serdar is dead, she replies, he’s dead. What are we going to do? We’re doomed!
Ceylin arrives at Arda’s house. The door is open, the rooms are disheveled. Signs of a struggle. There’s blood on the floor. Arda is slumped on the kitchen floor. He’s sobbing. There’s blood in the kitchen.

Arda cries to Ceylin, my wife is gone. My daughter is gone. My family is gone. You found the house like this, she asks. Yes, he replies, I got back from a trip, and no one was home. There’s a lot of blood! Where’s my wife? Where’s my daughter?

And we are out.

 

Secrets

Fine recap, Dondi. Friday's epi is a sea change from Thursday's when everything was upbeat. Now, I feel like we're in Crazy Town. Thanks for all the details, loved all your commentary. This made me laugh: That spark in Cinar’s intelligence is extinguished.

Everybody running to confront Serdar, without alerting the police, ugh. What a mess. Of all of those confronting Serdar, I'm so sorry Tugce was there.

The best thing for Ilgaz and Ceylin would be to turn their backs on both their families.

Poor Osman. I don't think bed rest cures blood loss and bullet hole-induced infection.

I don't get why Arda called Ceylin instead of the police, but I guess we'll find out.

I also got a big kick out of "Cinar's spark extinguished" and "Chekhov's gun"! You get four gold stars for "Gul...has Hell frozen over?"

Merdan...I wouldn't mind him on my side in a tough situation. I'd bet the farm he didn't kill Serdar. My money's on Yekta.

It was so sweet what Ilgaz said at the family dinner. Poor guy doesn't yet know about the Serdar stuff that ruins their enjoyment of their victory. And he doesn't know his idiot brother threw away the opportunity to turn Serdar over to the cops.

Parla...Pfft! OK, that was a traumatic scene Cinar set up, but she is making things worse by looking a total mess.

That lazy jackass Rifat calls Eren (chest wound) from his well-deserved days off to do Rifat's job. Loved when he showed up the next day and Pars told him the crime scene report was on his desk, which he'd apparently not seen.

Osman is slotted right into the TN/dizi pattern. He gets shot and develops an infection and high fever almost immediately.

Actually Ilcey would have been better off if Serdar got away. Their happiness and triumph at discovering Burak as the killer will be short lived.

So Yekta gets a whole high rise for his efforts to ruin Our Team? Haluk isn't as smart as we thought he was. He's backed a very poor horse.

Lacin, Lacin. That whole thing about her trying to recreate a family with a Yekta's unacknowledged child is nuts. And, yes, what about Murat? Why didn't she track him down instead of inviting the Devil Incarnate into her nice home?
