MINAS #38 TINYCAP Part 1

Very brief…apologies for any misinterpreted interpretations and/or any spelling errors. Something to get the conversation started.

In the aftermath of the fiery explosion, the mad doctora comes upon Emilia and her companions in the hallway, screaming, wild eyed and buck toothed.

As a colosseum show featuring lions eating Christians wasn’t available, Roberta and Fidel get comfortable in the safety of their car, happily watching innocents burn to death.

Sebas is singing in a café; Miriam is there. Then, Valerio calls him and tells him of the inferno.

The hideous doctora is in her office collecting papers. The bad nurse who helped her gets a hypodermic needle in her neck for all of her loyalty. The doctora runs out with her paperwork.

Orlando arrives among the screams and he and Leo run toward the building as the window explode.

Emilia, Danilo and Aleida start down the hall when there is a blaze of fire and a partial ceiling collapse; Emilia is separated from them. It appears Danilo and Aleida have no choice but to try and escape without her.

Sebas arrives and asks Leo where Emilia is. Leo is back in the ambulance where Sebastian reams him out saying this is his fault.

Roberta and Sara meet; Roberta seems to have told her what happened; Sara seems legitimately confused and to be fair, upset.

Zaira calls Gael, she seems to be having a premonition. Later, Nico’s babysitter shows up but I’m not sure what she says. Zaira is in tears as Tigre comes in.

MINAS #38 TINYCAP Part 2

Gigi questions Jen as to whether she is in a relationship with Orlando. Jen deflects and denies. Gigi is relieved and tells her daughter how much she means to her. Back at the house, Addled asks Teresa where “she is”; I had to laugh as she said which one? As on cue, Miriam shows up in tears…

Leo manages to make it out of the ambulance. Sara shows up as all the building windows are illuminated in flames. She holds him back as he screams for Emilia, the love of his life. Sara doesn’t seem to realize that people are being burned alive; no one even casts a glance in her direction as she screams for help.

A few minutes later, Leo is back in the ambulance, Sara hovering over him as he asks for Emilia. She seems to cry in sympathy and he grabs his side and stumbles out of the ambulance. Good heavens man, get a grip.

The manicomio is now charred; Leo sees Sebas and a fireman carrying out a stretcher with a body covered with a tarp. No he screams.

Orlando and firemen are in the building as is Ezequiel who casts a swarthy eye about. Leo walks in the hall, Sara ten steps behind. Emilia is alive Leo screams to Sara and then the lawyer. He walks up to a wooden door.

Ezequiel calls Roberta telling her the hospital is burned to a crisp; she smiles, pleased as punch. Aroused, she and Fidel make out. I think I’m going to be ill.

Joaquina tells Marijo something is wrong.

Nico’s babysitter showed up at Zaira’s but I didn’t understand what she said.

We see Addled undressed in Miriam’s room (in shorts, my eyes may not recover). Gigi catches Addled sneaking back into the living room where he was supposed to be sleeping. She takes a whiff and the jig is up.

Leo had collapsed on the floor in front of the door. He screams for Sebastian to open it. Emilia is dead Sebas screams at him as they go back and forth..

Leo and the lawyer walk through the scorched debris. Leo picks up the bar Danilo had used to break into Emilia’s room. Leo hits Ezequiel when he starts being his nosy, annoying self.

OMG, Joaquina shows up, finding Sara in the ambulance. Where is Leo? Sara tells her Emilia isn’t alive. On cue, Leo stumbles toward her. Fidel arrives on scene and Leo decks him, then held back by Orlando.

Gael and Marijo talk when Gael sees Emilia. Alas it is just an apparition. Confused and inconsolable, Gael runs into Marijo’s arms.

More nonsense with Addled, Miriam and Gigi. Miriam holds Addled’s hand and tells Gigi they are going to get married.

Orlando and Fidel exchange words as Leo stalks off.

Roberta appears and asks Gael Sanchez what he is doing there.

Sebas enters a still smoking corridor and sees a charred arm poking out from under a blanket. The poor victim’s hand is clutching the gold medal Emilia gave him. He falls to his knees crying. Leo comes in, it’s Emilia Sebas says, inconsolable, grasping the necklace in his hand. Leo also is on his knees…both brokenhearted. Ezequiel walks in on the scene…

ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS #106 Part one

Nots from the couch . . . and there are plenty!

1. As Micaela, Blanca, Paula and Lucas are listening at the door, Martina tells her sons that she just found out about her illness after having taken many tests. If she could have spared them the pain her diagnosis was causing them, she would have. What is coming will be difficult but she will try hard to not forget them.

2. Imelda is back living with her parents. Her father gives her his lawyer's number for her divorce. He wants to buy her that house. She tells him to slow it down. She needs to see what her finances are like first. All she wants is to stay at their home with her kids until she figures things out.

3. Rogelio is beyond upset. When comes out that Paula knew about Martina's condition before he did, he asks her why she didn't tell him. She tells him it was out of respect for Martina's decision to tell her sons herself.

4. Fernando tells Marco and Luis that this is too much for him. First, Imelda asked for a divorce and now this with their mother. Luis tells him he is not alone. He has them.

5. At breakfast, Lucas tells Martina that he doesn't want anything to happen to her. She tells him that he can help her with word and memory games as well as puzzles which makes him feel better. Fernando announces that he and Imelda are getting divorced.

5. Martina's sons and Paula decide that she needs to get a second opinion and they talk about everything she should do and that they can facilitate as if she weren't there. Martina listens and looks on in horror and puts a stop to that. She has not lost her will and trusts her doctor. She says that the only good thing about her condition is that someday she will forget about how they treated her about this. She tells Micaela she wants Melitón to take her to a warehouse of hers that she is thinking of turning into a library.

6. Before work, Imelda calls JJ and tells him how very uncomfortable she felt with what he did. He apologizes and they agree to start with a clean slate.

7. Rogelio talks to Fernando at home about the JJ situation. He tells Fernando to allow him to take care of it because he knows that Fernando wants to solve everything by fighting. He had a right to be upset but JJ is their partner. Fernando agrees to let him handle it but he warns him of more of the same if JJ continues to be their partner.

8. Melitón takes Martina to the warehouse. It is dark inside so Melitón lights a candle he finds and tries to guide them through the junk and possible rats with the light on his phone. The place is old and packed with stuff but Martina has visions of what a nice library it could be if it were renovated. Suddenly, Martina is transported somewhere else and is disorientated. She quickly leaves and on her way out, knocks the candle into a trash can. Melitón is left locked inside with a fire and no way to escape.

ETERNAMENTE Page two

9. Paula goes to see Imelda to tell her that Martina has Alzheimer's. Beatriz says she knew something was wrong but never expected this. Imelda truly wants to help. Paul encourages her to bring her children around to see Martina.

10. Blanca sees an add on a bulletin board at school for an interior design job. She takes the phone number.

11. Felipa and Micaela see Martina alone at a table in the garden tending to a plant. Felipa asks where Melitón is. Martina asks what about him?? She came and went alone in a taxi.

12. At the same time, Melitón has been rescued and paramedics are loading him into an ambulance. A paramedic calls Felipa and tells her that her husband was in a fire. He was unconscious and was being taken to the emergency room for smoke inhalation.

13. Ignacio is at home, on oxygen and doing breathing exercises. Cass comes in and say she talked to his doctor who said that he discharged Ignacio with the stipulation that he was no longer responsible for his medical condition. Ignacio says the doctor gave him exercises and all of the equipment. He promises to do everything the doctor told him to do. He wants to see his son. Cass says to talk to Cecilia who went to the hospital to see him and found he was discharged instead.

14. Micaela puts a still confused Martina to bed. Micaela asks where Melitón is. Martina doesn't know any Melitón. Felipa comes on and tells Micaela about Melitón. She is going to the hospital.

15. Rogelio is in his office watching the sand in an hourglass on his desk. (Is he wondering if his life is "Like sand through the hour glass of time . . . Sorry, I could not resist) Fidel comes in and he tells him about Martina. Fidel starts to cry. Fidel is at a lost for words. Rogelio says that is okay because he is his brother and he knows he feels like he does. Fidel hugs him.

16. Ignacio calls Cecilia. He wants to see Camilo. She agrees to bring him by later.

17. Chuy turns in a report to Marco who is very pleased with his work. Marco tells him that when his hotel on wheels business gets "rolling" (sorry, I couldn't resist that, either), he wants Chuy to be the assistant director of his company. Chuy cannot believe it but will be up for it.

18. Felipa goes to see Melitón in the hospital. He is conscious and seems to be okay. He is worried abut Martina. Felipa says she got back home but she was strange. Melitón says she was strange at the warehouse, too.

19. Paula shows up with new clothes for Melitón and also the good news that hew is going home. She is going to take them both back with her. Melitón tells Felipa that Paula is always so good to them; not like Imelda.

ETERNAMENTE Page three

20. Cecilia brings Camilo over to stay with Cass and Ignacio for a short time while she goes to get things done at the school. Ignacio is so happy to see his son that he says he could stay for six months. Cecilia laughs and tells him not to take advantage of her but in the future, maybe Camilo could spend longer times with them. She also tells them to not let Camilo sleep too much or she won't be sleeping tonight.

21. Micaela fills Gabriel in on what happened with Martina and Melitón. She tells him that Martina was agitated when she came home but is asleep now. He tells her that Paula called and told him that Melitón had smoke inhalation but was okay and would be home soon.

22. Martina awakens and Gabriel is there. She is tired and hungry. He invites her out to eat so they can spend the afternoon together.

23. Honorio gives Marco the good news from his cousin that they can use the property for parking the hotels on wheels. He tells Marco that it is important that his relatives know all of the benefits this business will bring to their community. He also has another cousin in Playa Azul who is interested. Marco is excited having Honorio work with him.

24. Martina tells Gabriel that her children acted just as she thought they would and she put a stop to that. They wanted to decide it all for her. Luis bothers her because he wants to come live back home. She asks about Andrea. Gabriel says she is going out with someone. Martina is disappointed that Luis and Andrea couldn't get together. Gabriel says they cannot force them.

25. Martina thinks back to Hipólito telling her he was so grateful her parents had accepted him as her fiancé. Their hands slightly touched and she pulled hers away.

26. Martina asks Gabriel if Melitón ever got home. She thought she left him at the warehouse. Gabriel says he is coming home with Felipa and Paula.

27. Melitón arrives at La Villa saying he almost ended up like a roasted chicken or a pressed chicharrón taco. He asks how Martina is. Micaela says she came home talking nonsense but then woke up as if nothing had happened. Paula advises them not argue with Martina but just to go with the flow.

ETERNAMENTE Page four

28. Beatriz says to Imelda that it is unfortunate what happened to Martina but she feels like this a sign that life is putting everything on a silver platter for her to be the president of the foundation. She also wants to get Ignacio to help her create her new foundation which she will name after herself. She wants Martina to pay for every time she humiliated her.

29. Fernando comes to visit the kids. Imelda tells him she will not change her mind on the divorce. He says they both have to agree. She knows that is not true. What he did to JJ was the last straw. She tells him that she will never deny him access to the kids.

30. Blanca has a job interview tomorrow.

31. Melitón tells Honorio what happened in the fire. Some kids were passing by and noticed it. They called the fire department. Honorio says he could have died. Melitón agrees. They do not know that Martina has heard the whole conversation and is upset.

32. Martina has tea with Honorio, Micaela, and Melitón. She apologizes to Melitón. She admits having put him at risk and assures him it won't happen again. Melitón says no worries because it is all over in his mind. Martina also wants to express her gratitude for all of their loyalty, affection, goodness and devotion before the disease takes her over. She only has one favor to ask them all and especially Micaela. She asks them to maintain her dignity and always to make sure she is wearing her butterfly pin. They all toast to that with their tea.

33. Rogelio is in a bad place. He tells Paula that when he heard what Martina had to say, his hair stood on end. And now with Melitón's experience, he is feeling such a heavy burden. She wants to help him. That is why they are a couple. He agrees but there are some issues that sometimes one partner would rather not discuss with the other and vice versa. Paula looks puzzled but honors his desire to be left alone giving him time and space to think.

34. Fernando checks in with Martina. She had a good time going out to eat with Gabriel. She asks him why he is giving up so easily on his family. He tells her not to worry. He will make sure that Imelda and the kids don't end up distanced from the family.

35. Lucas's dog reappears!! Lucas tells his dog about his going to Mexico City this summer and asking his dog to be a friend to Jazz.

36. Gabriel asks Luis why he ever let Andrea go. Luis says it was out of fear of not being able to make her happy. Gabriel advises him to think about what he really feels and do what his heart dictates but not to hurt his daughter.

37. Martina gets an envelope with what looks like a brochure inside.

38. There is a board meeting at the Iturbide Company. Ignacio appears and tells them he has accepted doña Martina's offer to become part of the Iturbide Company by selling his company so he can buy extra shares to become a voting member of the board. Fernando is upset he is the last to know. (WAH!!) Ignacio tells him not to be so bitter. Ignacio adds that they are going to unite to maintain and make the Iturbide Company grow. Gabriel welcomes him to the company. The others follow.

39. Martina visits a "rest home" dedicated to caring for Alzheimer's patients to see her friend Celeste who is a resident there. An attendant tells her that her that Celeste's children brought her there to live to keep her safe. Celeste thanks Martina for coming and starts to complain about the attendants stealing things from her room. Martina is shocked when she realizes that Celeste thinks that Martina is her mother.

ETERNAMENTE Page five

40. Honorio tells Micaela how Martina told him on the drive back from the "rest home" that her friend thought that she was her mother. He thinks that Martina has something planned because she notified all of her children that he wanted them to come to supper tonight.

41. Martina has the whole family assembled at the supper table. She announces a decision. She is going to live at a "rest home" dedicated to people with Alzheimer's. She doesn't want to put anyone at risk anymore.

That is it for me. Please feel free to add anything I did not include.

ETERNAMENTE

One of these days my typing/numbering will be perfect but today is clearly not that day.

My thoughts on this one:

I felt sorry for Rogelio with Paula looking troubled when he asked to be left alone so that he could have some time and space to think. Why should he feel guilty for not telling her everything? Talk about smothering. That kind of "togetherness" would send me screaming into the night!!! LOL

Melitón sure recovered quickly with no oxygen or even a nebulizer in sight.

Beatriz is nuts.

It was good seeing the dog again especially since somebody mentioned how he had disappeared recently. We could say the same about Chuy. I think that Diana wondered if we would ever see him again.

Fernando never gets any better or more likable.

More mañana!

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, this glittered like gold; solid, shiny, and sensational.

You were on fire with “Rogelio is in his office watching the sand in an hourglass on his desk. (Is he wondering if his life is "Like sand through the hourglass of time” and Marco tells him that when his hotel on wheels business gets “rolling”. THRILLED you could not resist. 😊 Perfect. Both.

Martina is in such treacherous waters but yet is processing and thinking very clearly in her lucid moments. A Memory Care facility is indeed the best place for her. She will receive round-the-clock care from medical professionals, trained to handle any and every emergency. Her family can lavish her with their love, spending time with her but as her sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren, not as caretakers.

“Fernando never gets any better or more likable” is exactly right! Is that in his contract?? 😊 And yet, Mica was once again comforting Fernando, her hand on his shoulder at the dining room table. Perhaps she sees what is invisible to me.

“Melitón sure recovered quickly with no oxygen or even a nebulizer in sight” was a miracle! This could have been a disaster of epic proportions.

So great to see Chuy!! I am so happy things are going well for him and of course for Marco!

Several sweet snippets including Meliton and Felipe; Ignacio cooing to and enjoying his son and being brought back into the family fold. I don’t trust JJ for a NY minute.

“He agrees but there are some issues that sometimes one partner would rather not discuss with the other and vice versa”. I believe that not every thought needs to be uttered; not all things should be shared. Sometimes we need to be with our own thoughts, seeking our own internal counsel.

“Beatriz is nuts”. Amen.

Imelda’s flats with buckles were tonight’s fashion fave. No kitten heels tonight…

I find it verty hard to listen to Martina going on about how she is happy her illness will make her forget how her children treated her when she herslef never seemed to care what they wanted and they had to do what she thought was right. I find her complaining here irritating. Why is it that people do to others what they wouldn't want those others to do to them?
Paula should have told Rogelio Martina actually threatened her to make her keep quiet. 'respect' sounds like such a generous way to put it.
Paula is pushy in general I think. She always goes and wants people to talk to her about their issues and as nice as it might be, sometimes it takes time for a person to open up. I mean, she ran off to another town without talking to anyone so maybe she should stop insisting Rogelio has to tell her something.
When Ignacio was talking to Cas, I found myself wondering if his sudden outbursts of anger and frustration won't still be a problem. There's something in his behaviour that I still find unsettling.
It was weird when Rogelio said to Fidel 'say something' when he told F about Martina. I mean, what does he expect Fidel to say? When he said it's fine because he believes F loves Martina as much as Rog does. It's like he wanted F to be properly upset by the news.
It's funny to watch Imelda being upset by her mother's behaviour when she herself was exactly the same recently and when I am almost certain she hasn't changed all that much in that respect. It's like she just got slightly more sense and now knows what's good for her.
I find it rather tragic that you end up having to leave your own house and move somewhere because you are losing your ability to function. It might be because I hate changes but ithis feels like such an impossibly hard thing to do. What would be even worse for me is having to be surrounded by strangers and only having a room for myself. But I suppose once the illness takes over, a person can forget to worry about things like that.

"MINAS DE PASION":
Diana: Thank you very much for your recap of last night's episode. Psycho Roberta & her cronies really want Emilia, Adelia & Danillo dead SMH.

Big question is who's body was underneath the sheet ?

Steve Boudreaux

Minas

Thanks so much for your amazing recap, Diana.

I especially loved "As a colosseum show featuring lions eating Christians wasn’t available, Roberta and Fidel get comfortable in the safety of their car, happily watching innocents burn to death" and "We see Addled undressed in Miriam’s room (in shorts, my eyes may not recover)".

I have decided I don't care at all about Míriam and what will happen to her. Sorry, but Gigí took her side, said her baby will have everything she wants and she does... This? Ugh. You can have him, gal. These two deserve each other.

Once again, Sebas went above and beyond to try to save Emi, while Leo did nothing.

Just to add something to my previous point: The necklace thing happened in the OG as well, slightly altered (a bad nurse took the protagonista's necklace and wore it, without her permission). Why do I mention this? Well, because it was the galán who saw a burned body with the necklace and identified it as the protagonista. Seeing Seb do just that just made me more angry with Leo. If Emi doesn't end up with Seb at the end, I'm going to be EXTREMELY disappointed.

Minas
Emilia isn't dead, of course, so I wonder what happens now. But they seem to have decided to ruin Leo's character beyond repair. I kind of wanted Sebas to give him a good punch.
At least there'll be no more of that hospital because I was sick of it.
Roberta seems to think Lorensa is dead. I wonder what the doctora thinks of her pals setting her workplace on fire.
But now we'll have scenes of agony while everyone will mourn Emilia.
The weird thing is that I'm not sorry for Leo, like at all. I don't know how they are going to make this couple make sense.
I can't believe Miriam's stupidity and lack of gratitude. If they mean her to end up with Seb, someone must have hated this novela and hated having to write its plot because Sebas deserves someone better. Better alone than in bad company. Miriam has no self-respect at all.
Now how long before E recovers? I hope that when she does, she will take her child and leave with Seb. Leo can stay with Sara.

Eternamente

Thanks Jarifa, a great recap and I love reading about some of the conversations I missed!

I was sure Melitón was a goner. And had no idea how he was rescued until I read your recap. The same with Martina hearing the conversation and realizing what she did. Now the rest home makes more sense. But I hope they stick with the original plan of getting married and living at the villa.

Beatrice was really horrible. Like mother like daughter. I think JJ will really move in on Imelda when he learns she is separated. That partnership will have to end.

Ignacio seems to be turning his life around. So will his past wrongdoings remain hidden forever!

The best scene was Martina in the kitchen with the staff making a toast with the teacups.

When Fernando was holding his crying baby I wondered how that set must be. I wonder if all the babies are there at the same time. I can’t imagine!

Liz

MINAS

Weirdo, "Once again, Sebas went above and beyond to try to save Emi while Leo did nothing". So depressing but so sadly true!

Thank you SO much for that information about the nurse taking Emi's necklace! As you noted waterlily "Emilia isn't dead, of course..." and she would have no reason or inclination to "plant" it on someone else.

I didn't want to see one more scene of the "hospital" either waterlily...

Are Aleida and Danilo still alive??? Where will they go, what will they do? Emilia must surely know she will likely not survive another attack by Roberta, who will never rest until she is dead...

I can't wait to see what happens...

Diana

Minas

Dear Diana, thank you for the tinycap which was not at all tiny . OMGahhhh. You should get a medal for watching that awful mishmash of despair closely enough to recap every horrific detail. Que?Que? What ?

" wild eyed and bucktoothed" made me laugh outloud. I will be thinking about it all through my very busy day .

The writers must be on something because each episode gets more and more bizarre.

We know that Em survived . Did Nick actually see her? Did Fidel's wife and Dan survive ?

What are the writers doing with Miriam????...makes no sense . Now she Is sleeping with Addled in his family home and tells Gigi that she and Addled are getting married.
Absolutely ridiculous storyline . Hate them all. Do not care anymore.

I feel sorry for these actors because they all seem to be doing their best with these bizarre storylines and words.

ETERNAMENTE

Diana, glad you enjoyed my attempt at humor which usually happens when it is ate and I am tired. Anyway your "A Memory Care facility is indeed the best place for her. " is right on. I was glad she came to that realization after putting Melitón at risk. Since I love following the evolution of language no matter what the language , I found it interesting that they were using the term "rest home" and qualifying it with "for people with Alzheimer's". I haven't heard the term "rest home" here in decades and most examples of "nursing homes" have changed rather recently into "rehab centers" and "memory care facilities". "I don’t trust JJ for a NY minute." Nope, he certainly didn't try to defend what he did on the phone. No matter Violeta is like she is. Was it nature or nurture in her case or a combo platter special?

waterlily, "Paula is pushy in general I think. She always goes and wants people to talk to her about their issues and as nice as it might be, sometimes it takes time for a person to open up. I mean, she ran off to another town without talking to anyone so maybe she should stop insisting Rogelio has to tell her something." Well put. The person Paula should be relentlessly pushy with is Eva. She knows she is hiding something. As for the Rogelio/Fidel scene, "It's like he wanted F to be properly upset by the news." I felt that was sort of odd, too.

Liz, "The best scene was Martina in the kitchen with the staff making a toast with the teacups." I totally agree. It seems that even though Martina has been a hard task master, she and her employees have developed a certain affection and appreciation fo each other through the years. "When Fernando was holding his crying baby I wondered how that set must be. I wonder if all the babies are there at the same time. I can’t imagine!" There are so many babies and now little kids. I wonder, also, how they manage to "wrangle" so many little ones. I do not think I have ever seen a novela with so many. Yes, I expect JJ to be like a barracuda with Imelda. He clearly has to go but it is hard to imagine Rogelio doing that with him being a partner. Maybe now with ignacio on board with his money, it won't be a problem.

Time to run errands. It is a delightful day out there!

Minas

I enjoyed reading all the comments. We're all so mad at the writers. Are they drunk or something? That is my best explanation.

Just to clarify, Diana, I meant the necklace plot line is what happened in the original. But if they added the necklace, they must have added that as well and as you wisely noted "she would have no reason or inclination to "plant" it on someone else."

Waterlily, "The weird thing is that I'm not sorry for Leo, like at all. I don't know how they are going to make this couple make sense." ITA! I also can't feel sorry for Leo.

I also totally agree with this: "I can't believe Miriam's stupidity and lack of gratitude. If they mean her to end up with Seb, someone must have hated this novela and hated having to write its plot because Sebas deserves someone better. Better alone than in bad company. Miriam has no self-respect at all."

Diana, I also can't wait to see what happens. I hope they manage to find a way to redeem Leo but I doubt it...

I am also wondering about Aleida and Danilo. My best guess is that they survived and they'll help Emi.

Susan, I agree that Diana deserves a medal for recapping this. She did us all a great favor ;)

LOL "The writers must be on something because each episode gets more and more bizarre."

ITA with "Absolutely ridiculous storyline"

Thank you Jarifa for your always wonderful notes from the couch!

Wow, that was a scary situation with Meliton. I can understand why Martina might want to go live in a home but it seems too soon too. Maybe there is a medium between keep her out of dark dusty room and away from fire and going to the home?

It looks like I'm in the minority but I understand Paula. I mean yes, of course, you don't need to tell your spouse everything and you should have space, but this isn't just any old everyday problem. This is a life altering, devastating issue and Paula knows it, it would be very hard to watch the person you love be hurt in that way and be helpless to do anything. Of course, I understand Rogelio's need to be left with space too, but I don't blame Paula for being upset and since she did leave Rogelio and give him space when he asked, regardless of how she felt, I think she handled it well.

Is Ignacio just going to mend his ways and ride off into the sunset - reconciled to family and with Cass? I don't think I like that and not even because I want to see him punished. I don't necessarily, but I don't like the narrative it seems to suggest that a man can be dangerous and violent and over come that so easily and live happily ever after with a different woman - Cass even suggested as much, but I think that's a dangerous message to send.

Eternamente #106

Gracias, Jarifa. Like sands through the hourglass, these are the Days of Our Lives...

I have to wonder whether a Memory Care Facility wouldn't be counterproductive because of its lack of familiarity to its residents. Or is that meant for them to make their minds work harder? In either case it's evident that Martina can't live independently.

When Meliton couldn't get out of that warehouse I was also sure he was a goner. That would have been too tragic for Felipa and her children.

Beatriz did a 180 through this story. She went from being a voice of reason to Imelda and now is just as toxic as Martina was at the outset. Imelda did sound sincere when she told Paula she would help.

Everyone who comes from toxic families has a combo plate situation. We get treated badly in any number of ways often unknown to others as in What happens in the family stays in the family so everything or almost everything is kept from "outsiders" who might judge, interfere, or try to initiate an intervention. Going to a mental health professional as an adult doesn't fix this completely because the adult child can't fix all the emotional damage from childhood even if s/he understands it intellectually. Ignacio is unlikely to get much better than he is right now, which his mother's suicide contributed to. Not sure about Fernando, either. Rogelio can because he has Paula who is substantially more understanding now than she was earlier. He also has the motivation of wanting to be a good father.

Marco gets the La Esperanza update that Santos is back on the ranch from his man, and takes off in a hurry as he is sure Santos now knows everything. I’m guessing everything is the beat down on Cris? Marco grabs a gun and takes off for Esperanza!

Vale is settling into her new job and everyone is happy with their new boss. She discusses with Pepe that he hasn’t taken a single day of vacation in 2 years, and Pepe tells Vale how he can’t afford time off as his mom is still sick. What’s more the doctors now say there is nothing they can do for her. Vale promises to find a way to help him, she’s sure MT will give him some time off to be with his family. Pepe thanks Vale and says what a great friend and person she is.

Bernanda and Regina show up to Trejo’s office to give Bernarda’s statement but Rut enters and starts insulting Bernarda for having a daughter with the boss! Rut wants to interrogate Bernarda himself. He is hostile and Trejo looks uncomfortable but doesn’t contradict the boss.

Santos and MT argue about how best to deal with Marco. MT wants Santos to calm down and Santos wants to go for the jugular. Neither sees Marco off in the bushes cursing them both!!! He hates Santos of course and MT has earned his ire by rejecting him! He takes aim and it’s hard to say at whom but Vale sees him about to shoot and runs in front of the bullet screaming NO!!!! (She’s kind of in front of MT but the bullet hits her side closest to Santos, so….)

Bernarda gives her statement to a very argumentative Rut while Trejo looks on. Bernarda tells him she had no reason to kill Esteban and he should leave her alone and look for the real killer. Rut says she’s the best suspect he has but Bernarda suggests he’s covering for someone. (Notice the look on Trejo’s face here! Priceless! He knows this could be it). Rut continues until Bernarda gets a horrible feeling in her chest and tells Regina something is wrong. She tells Rut she was at the ranch all day when Esteban died and there are many witnesses.

MT holds Valentina as Santos runs for help. Santos runs into Pepe and asks him if he saw anyone. Pepe who most certainly did see Marcos says no and Santos tells him to look around. At this point, Pepe doesn’t know that Vale was shot, will he tell the truth when he finds out???

Vale lies in MT’s arms as her sister begs her to hold on! It doesn’t look like either Santos or MT saw Marcos and unfortunately Vale doesn’t name her killer. MT cries and begs and reminds Vale that they are the daughters of Esteban and they are strong. Stay with me!! As much as she tries to stop her, a scared Vale is intent on saying goodbye. I couldn’t really hear her very well (the actress did a good job of just sort of mumbling and gurgling her words as she lay dying) but I know she said something about how even with all her love for Santos she couldn’t make him love her the way he loves MT. She asks MT to take care of Santos, to promise her she will. MT promises but says Vale will be there too!!! Vale says her love for Santos is going to die with her.

Tierra – part 2 of 3
Cris wakes up and Remedios and Suzy are relieved to see it but just as Cris says not to let Geno see him like this, Geno shows up urgently seeking Remedios’s help with Vale. She doesn’t know exactly what happened but she knows it’s serious and Vale needs her NOW!! Remedios runs out telling Geno to stay with Cris as Cris is in the other room protesting. Geno enters the room and sees Cris all banged up. Suzy enters too and Geno misinterprets, but they clear it up quickly and Geno is relived that Cris is still her man. Cris wants to know what happened to Vale but Geno doesn’t know, she only knows she’s hurt.

Bernarda wants to leave the station, as this is pointless but Rut tries to twist her statement into an accusation that Bernarda is refusing to be questioned. Trejo speaks up, much to Rut’s chagrin, he points out they can’t hold Bernarda there, she signs her statement and leaves the police station.

Remedios shows up to help and Santos begs her to save the already died Vale; but she tells him what he already knows, it’s too late. She says Vale is now resting at the side of her father like she’s always wanted. (What a cop out sentiment! She was a young woman and the writers didn’t need to kill her!!)

The workers have gathered around Vale’s body now and MT demands that someone look for her sister’s killer! She orders Pedro to get the police. Who could have entered and shot without anyone seeing something!!! Pepe is looking very uncomfortable but not offering any info. Everyone is appropriately shocked and upset but it gets worse of course when Bernarda and Regina arrive home to find their daughter and sister dead. This is too heart breaking to describe and as Bernarda and Regina grab ahold of Vale and wail. A also crying Santos tells Bernarda that Valentina stepped in front of a bullet meant for someone else….I’m not sure if he named himself as the intended target or not.

Marco shows up at Camila’s for a roll in the hay and an alibi, surely. He is armed and Cami is very uncomfortable but tries to hide it. Like usual, Cami asks too many questions but Marco might be losing his edge because he actually lets on that he’s upset over MT’s rejection but he’ll work it out, whatever it takes, he will get what he wants.

Norma tells the book club girls that Adriana is out!! Before they can criticize her she informs them that she caught Adri about to sleep with Rut! What’s worse, she is a dangerous person and a criminal – but Norma won’t say what crimes she’s being accused of. The book ladies are quick to agree and even suggest they ‘knew’ a woman like Adriana couldn’t be a decent widow! God save them all from women like her!

Tierra – Part 3 of 3

More scenes of Bernarda and Regina inconsolable…and this is hard to watch and recap. Have I mentioned I HATE that they decided to kill off Valentina???

Rut tells Trejo to invent evidence to incriminate Bernarda. He doesn’t look like he wants to, will he? It’s unclear to me in this conversation if Rut really wants to convict Bernarda or if he just wants it to look like he’s making progress to get the mayor off his back, but Trejo points out that there are too many witnesses to Bernarda’s whereabouts to incriminate her. Rut leaves, and Pedro must have interpreted ‘Get the Police’ as run to the police station because he bursts in a minute later!!! (I would have ran to the house and dialed 911, but to each his own) Trejo needs to go to Esperanza immediately, Vale has been shot!
When Trejo gets there Bernarda makes sure to tell him that this happened because she was detained in that pointless interview! If she’d been at the ranch, she could have protected Vale!!! She says he better find the person who killed her daughter, if he doesn’t get justice, she will!

Rut and Grim discuss Adriana. Rut wants to defend the respectable lady but Grim tells him his ‘lady’ was a prostitute in the city. Rut gets filled in on Adri’s role in finding women for their business. Rut is impacted but he still orders Grim to leave Adri alone. Grim warns Rut will regret defending that slut.

Geno calls the house for an update, and Nani gives her the bad news about Vale. Nani, who barely knew Vale but must have a compassionate heart completely loses it, and after hanging up Geno goes to the next room and gives Cris the news before losing it herself. Cris sits shocked for a moment but then starts crying himself.

MT gets off the phone and tells Nani that they are coming to bring Vale’s body and just when they are wondering how to go on, that traditor Marco shows up to comfort MT!!!! And I just can’t! I am so disgusted by this!!! Luckily MT doesn’t let his fake condolences go too far and instead confronts him about Chacal nearly killing Cris!!! (You go girl!!) Marco tries to play dumb but MT finds that hard to believe since Marco knows every move Chacal makes. Marco acts offended that MT doubts him and of course tries to imply it’s Santos’s fault (Isn’t it curious that as soon as Santos gets back this happens? I wasn’t even here!) Grief appears to have sharpened MT’s mind as she responds that this is exactly the point, every time something happens at the ranch Marco isn’t there! What a coincidence! MT breaks up with him!!! Marco tries to play it off as her just being emotional and leaves to give her space but definitely didn’t accept the breakup.

Remedios tries to comfort Bernarda. This is of course impossible at this moment as she says she doesn’t want to live in a world without Valentina. Remedios is understanding but she reminds Bernarda that Regina needs her and she’ll have to find a way to go on for Regina and for her own sake.

Clemente shows up in the police station to give Trejo more paintings, and gets the news of Vale’s death. He is rocked and offers to go with Trejo to return the body to the hacienda.

Marco really has no shame and even shows up to give his insincere apologies to BERNARDA!!! (There is no anvil big enough for him!!!) Bernarda tells him she doesn’t believe a word he says and sends him packing!!! Go Bernarda!!!

Santos is crying over Valentina and saying he will never forgive himself. There was a conversation earlier with Santos and MT debating which of the two the killer was shooting at when Vale got in the way, but either way, Santos blames himself and doesn’t do anything to stop the tears when Cris comes in to sit in shock with his brother.

(One haha moment in a depressing, dark episode) Rut shows up and says to Adri’s back ‘Hola Violetta!’ (Adri’s prostitute name!!!) She startles and drops her glass but then tries to cover. Rut says don’t bother, he knows everything and he doesn’t care!!! He wants her by his side, they start kissing….gag me!

***Note – my broadcast kept flickering off and on sporadically last night so I may have missed some dialog. Also I may have been just too disgusted with Marco to pay close attention to whatever his jackass self was saying. I am really disappointed that our story went in this direction but not really surprised. It’s an easy out if you ask me and it taints the Santos/Maria Teresa love story from my perspective. They did such a good job of building up this complicated love triangle where everyone actually cared about and respected everyone else and the only way they could come up with to resolve it was to kill off Vale?? I am not a fan!!!

Thanks Susan! "The writers must be on something because each episode gets more and more bizarre" had me smiling in vigorous agreement

Weirdo, I think the writers have taken leave of their senses. Let's hope it's not a permanent lapse :)

Darcy, thank you for a great , detailed recap. I had to turn this episode off . I couldn't stand watching Bernarda's grief after all she has Been though in her life . ...devastating . The writers made an awful move when they decided to kill off Val, but when Bernarda watched her walk away smiling , you knew what Val's fate would be . Sad.

I hope we see a lot of anvils for all the pain the villains have caused the innocents.

Thanks, Jarifa. Another super job. We've all been so spoiled with your recaps. "(Is he wondering if his life is "Like sand through the hour glass of time . . ." -- lol! Add me to the bunch who are tickled that you couldn't resist.

Sorry, but Meliton was an idiot for lighting a candle in the warehouse in the first place.

Wow, Ignacio smiled, at his son. He is super fortunate that Cecilia and the Iturbides are full of forgiveness. I hope he's wizened up and won't back Beatriz's plan against Martina.

Imelda wants to help the family with Martina? This I got to see. A test will be what she does about her mom going after Martina.

Yay! The dog is back.

TIERRA

Darcy, your recap was amazing, every word. Your heartfelt reaction was perfectly reflected in every inspired word.

“Vale says her love for Santos is going to die with her” had my eyes misting. The senseless death of a young, vibrant, intelligent, and loving woman. Bernarda heartbroken; Maria Teresa and Santos immersed in grief ;he in guilt and torment.

“She (Remedios) says Vale is now resting at the side of her father like she’s always wanted. (What a cop out sentiment! She was a young woman and the writers didn’t need to kill her!!)” was beautifully stated and I completely agree.

Bernarda has ostensibly blown a hole through Rut’s accusation that she murdered Esteban. I doubt Trejo is going to lie for Rut…

“Pepe thanks Vale and says what a great friend and person she is”. Clearly touched, will his anger and horror at his angel’s murder translate into him telling Santos he saw Marco running away? This is gnawing at me too Darcy although I fear as he hasn’t spoken up already…

I feel immense sadness that someone so good, so beloved and respected has been sacrificed to clear the path for Maria Teresa and Santos to be together. There had to have been another way. I also feel the specter of Valentina will always be with them.

Darcy I enjoyed your take on Paula. One of the fun parts of this site is that we get to read so many different viewpoints and opinions. Ignacio is problematical for me as well since I feel that he is working hard to keep himself on the straight and narrow when it comes to being violent. I do not see any happily ever after assured for him and Cass because of his past but maybe he can make it with a lot of support from his newly found brothers. I see him as a continual work in progress and if Cass if willing to run the risk? but does she really know how violent he can be? That is the problem. I feel there are Ignacios IRL out there who have never taken the time or had the chance for any kind introspection. Maybe the therapist sessions might open the possibility of therapy for somebody who recognizes himself/herself in Ignacio. Another PSA?

Urban, "When Meliton couldn't get out of that warehouse I was also sure he was a goner. That would have been too tragic for Felipa and her children." Yes, having a wife pregnant with twins in the plot plot saved him. Funny but so true. Your analysis of toxic families was fascinating and made sense.
Niecie, so glad you have been enjoying the recaps. This has been fun one to recap. "Sorry, but Meliton was an idiot for lighting a candle in the warehouse in the first place. " ITA What I couldn't undestand was why he didn't bring a flashlight or two along. He must have had an idea where they were going. As for Imelda, "A test will be what she does about her mom going after Martina." Exactly.

Thanks Darcy, you went above and beyond with having to recap such a sad episode. I agree that the writers took the easy way out. They had a love triangle and Santos had declared he wouldn’t come between the sisters. But I could think of other ways to resolve this.

Pepe really seemed to care for Valentina and I wonder if he will eventually tell.

Marco gave me the creeps in this episode. I thought he looked regretful when Val was shot but he was probably just upset that he missed his target.

There were two scenes I missed. I never saw Rut with Adriana and Clemente with his drawings. I don’t know if they weren’t shown here or I fast forwarded through them along with the commercials. So thank you for filling those in for me.

I believe I prefer telenovelas with out the senseless killings. And it was bad enough when Esteban was killed, but someone young with their whole life ahead of them is so much worse.

Great job, Darcy. You captured all the angst.

So Valentia became the story's sacrificial lamb. This does not surprise me. There would have been no easier way to resolve this issue short of Valentina changing her mind and deciding to become a nun, which would have been ludicrous. When Caridad Bravo Adams was alive her triangles were always resolved by death. See Corazon Salvaje, Bodas de Odio, Abrazame Muy Fuerte, La Esposa Virgen, and the other versions of these.

Having gotten that out of the way we had all been wondering whether Marco was her sperm donor and learned that he was not. Would he have offed himself if he had been or gone completely mad? That would have been so operatic it would have been worthy of Giuseppe Verdi.

Rutilio was more blase than I gave him credit for so we'll see where he goes from where he was at the end of this episode. I guess we'll also find out whether Pepe has any vestige of a conscience.

ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS #107

"Everyone Is In a Crisis Except Marco!--OR--Rogelio Starts to Cook Up a New Future for Himself"

Page 1

Notes from the couch . . . There were one too many scenes tonight. My head felt like a ping pong ball going back and forth.

1. Nobody in Martina's family wants her to go. They can hire help to be with her 24/7. She will consider none of their suggestions. She explains that she cannot risk putting any one of them in danger. Marco says that will never happen. She reminds him it already did with Melitón. She has made up her mind. Gabriel wants to talk to her alone.

2. Gabriel tells Martina that it hurts him that she has made another decision without him. She makes it clear that she still wants to marry him and spend time with in this new stage of her illness where she needs to feel safe. He says he can do everything for her that they can. She refuses to be burden to him. They know how to handle the illness at the rest home. She and Gabriel will have a different kind of marriage. He finally tells her that if that is what she wants, he will support her. She thanks him. They love each other.

3. Lucas talks to Regina about his grannie. She promises to help him in any way she can. They love each other a lot.

4. Luis tells Marco he just cannot take anymore. (brother #3 on the edge) First, it was finding out that Andrea has a novio and now his mother's illness. He is planning on coming home to live to be close to her. Marco turns into the brother giving advice, for once in his life , saying some times things happen that are so are so overwhelming , that the only thing you can do is accept them and face them. Marco says all their mother is asking is that they live life with her the best they can knowing that nobody knows when her mind is going to fail her. Luis doesn't like that. Marco asks for his phone. He also tells him that when he fell off of his motorcycle, he learned that the only worthwhile things are things you can earn. The time has come for Luis to either fight for Andrea or go out with somebody else. He signs Luis up on a dating site on the spot. Luis has to laugh but disagrees with Marco's description of him that he is "an author open to fun."

5.Paula goes to see Martina to try to a talk her out of going to the rest home. She talks about what her family has meant to her. She tells Martina that they all need her. Martina thanks her but she has made up her mind. Martina doesn't want to see any sad faces. She only wants to remain strong for her family not as some sick woman. Martina thinks that Paula can help the others understand her decision. She asks her to support her. Paula says she will never stop surprising her. Paula knows that even with this decision, Martina is protecting everyone. She sits next to Martina and lovingly caresses her head.

6. Ignacio tells Ceci that "if he could turn back time.. ." he would never have hurt her like he did. He asks her to forgive him. He was a monster with her. She has no idea of how sorry he is for everything that happened. She didn't do anything wrong. She thanks him. She has never heard him talk like that. Ignacio says he will get going before Ricardo comes back. Ceci says she doesn't have a relationship with him but he is a great guy and a good father so Ignacio doesn't have to be worried. Ignacio wants her and Camilo to be able to live happily in peace, only that. Ignacio leaves.

7. Rogelio wants Paula to talk Martina into staying. She says that if the same thing happened to either one them, they would want their decision to be respected. Rogelio understands but Martina is doing it to protect them, leaving the home she loves. That discussion leads Rogelio to the dark place he is in. He doesn't know any more what he wants to do with his life; what he wants to be. He cannot find himself. Paula can understand and appreciate him feeling lost. Rogelio says that is why he needs to be alone to find himself and to see and feel what he is missing. Paula says that is fine but she doesn't want him cutting her out. She doesn't want to feel excluded.

8. Ricardo tells Cecilia he knows what it is dealing with an ex, but through his own experience, he can say that it does get better. She tells him that talking with Ignacio was strange but he did apologize. Ricardo says she doesn't have to forgive Ignacio to move on. Cecilia says she needs to learn how to trust again. Ricardo says he is wiling to help her with that. He is just about to kiss her when Luis comes through the door. Ricardo decides it is time for him to leave. Since it is Luis's last night there, they decide to get a pizza like on their first night as roomies.

9. Cass tells Ignacio that the time has to come for them to consider being parents. Ignacio says that nothing would make him happier than having a baby with her.

10. Marco tells Blanca that he doesn't like his mother's decision but he will respect it and take advantage of any time he can spend with her to make her happy. He asks Blanca that he and she only focus on the good where his mother is concerned. She likes that. Her interview is tomorrow. He is going to work on his proposal for Playa Azul. She says he was always a go getter, but he now is more serene, strong and more mature. He remembers Rogelio telling him he wasn't prepared but now he is ready to go for it with all he has for the two of them.

11. Martina gives Fernando the divorce papers Imelda sent over to the house. Fernando will do what he can to keep her grandchildren near her and the family. Martina tells him if he loves Imelda, fight for her. She wants to see him happy.

12. Paula wakes up and Rogelio's gone. She goes to call him but stops herself. Rogelio has been out shopping with Pedro for the restaurant. Rogelio tells Pedro he wants to cook something. He promises Pedro he will not disappoint him. Pedro gives him his first rule : order and cleanliness. Pedro will be watching. The kitchen is all his. He gets a text from Fernando reminding him of a meeting. He texts him back that he cannot make it but he is certain that he can handle it all on his own.

13. Lucas watches a video of his mother telling him that she will always be with him. He wishes she were there to explain about his grannie and what he can do.

14. Cass notices that Ignacio is not doing what he should be to recover from his lung injury. She offers her help. He gets snippy and tells her he doesn't need her feeling sorry for him or anybody telling him what to do. She says she does not feel sorry for him and she has no intention rescuing him, but everyone needs a hand once in a while. She is there. She hopes his attitude is better when she returns.

15. Fernando goes to see Imelda complaining that she didn't give him the divorce papers in pesosn like he asked her to. She says she didn't want to get to the office late. Well, he also is in a rush. For the first time, he is running a meeting on his own. She makes a sarcastic comment asking if "Mr. Rogelio" gave him permission. Fernando will not take the bait. He seems pleased that Rogelio has allowed him to do this because he trusts his judgment. He knows they didn't have a good marriage but wants them to divorce in peace. She thinks the sooner it is done the better. He looks at the monetary amount she is requesting and tells her she is never going to get it. His kids will never want for anything but now that she is working, she can pay for her own expenses. She calls him the "ex- machista." Now it suits him that she is working. He agrees.

16. Martina tells Honorio to get ready to take her to the rest home and Micaela to pack up her suitcases because she doesn't plan on returning tonight.

17. Pedro thinks the dish that Rogelio prepared looks extraordinary. He tastes it and brings it out to a customer to try. The customer finds it so very delicious and asks who made it. Rogelio says he did. The man says he likes it because it tastes like something his granny would make. Pedro jokes saying he better watch himself or Rogelio will take over the place. Rogelio agrees laughing. Rogelio is happy but then adds that the hard part of the day has come. He has to go to work. Pedro says he is welcome anytime he wants to recharge his batteries. Paula calls. She misses Rogelio. Fidel calls next telling Rogelio that Fernando did a fantastic job in the meeting. Rogelio smiles.

18. Micaela is upset that Martina is leaving. Martina reminds her that she put Melitón at risk. He didn't do anything wrong. Micaela explains to Martina that living in this house with her, Martina has become like a sister to her. She has become a life-long companion for her. She doesn't want her to go away. Martina hugs her. They both cry. Martina says she is going to try to not forget everything she has done for her and how much she loves her.She only asks that she be what she has always been; a mother to her children. Micaela says she sees them as the children she never had and she loves them. Martina thanks her for doing everything she couldn't at the house. She is her "dear Mica." They hug again and Micaela kisses her on the cheek.

19. Marco tells Honorio he wants to talk to his cousin in Playa Azul so they can close the deal ASAP. Honorio gives him the phone number.

20. Eva has gone with Cass to the doctor to get the results of medical tests she had done before actually getting pregnant. Eva says having a baby will change her life for the better. Eva may be tired but she is happy.

21. Blanca gets the job. Marco calls Honorio's cousin.

22. The doctor tells Cass that after viewing the results of her medical tests, she won't be able to get pregnant due to the fact that she has scars in her uterus due to a previous infection or surgery. The egg will not be able to implant. She is sorry.

23. Cecilia hears that Luis has some messages on his phone and is nosy. As she sees photos that girls have sent him from the dating site, Luis comes in and looks at his phone. They both end up laughing. Luis says Marco made him do it.

24. The director of the rest home offers to give marina a tour. Martina hears an agitated patient pass on by. The director explains she has a bad personality and is very much alone. Martina doesn't have to talk to her.

25. Fernando thanks Rogelio for letting him run the meeting. Rogelio says that Fidel said he really distinguished himself. The only thing that Fernando has to complain about is having to still deal with JJ. Rogelio says he did a good job separating his business life from his personal life at eh meeting. Fernando fills Rogelio in about Imelda wanting to rush the divorce. He thinks that JJ has something to do with it. Fernando wants JJ out. Rogelio says they can't just kick him out. Fernando knows that but if the other shareholders agree they can make JJ sell his shares. As soon as Ignacio is on board as a voting member, he will call for a vote.

26. Cass tells Ignacio that she found out from Eva that Martina has Alzheimer's. She sees his response and says that she thought that Cecilia must have told him. He snaps back that maybe she doesn't think as much as she says she does. He explains she is talking about HIS family and as usual nobody told him anything. He is just a big ZERO to him. Cass won't put up with his bad mood because he isn't feeling well. He tells her to leave his business to him. She says that if he wants to be all alone in his life all she can say is " Bravo." He did it. He tries to apologize but she isn't having it. She doesn't think he is ready for a relationship yet and let alone with woman like her.

27. Imelda itells Rogelio that she s aggravated that Fernando is asking for a description of her job with all of the details. She refuses to be intimidated. Rogeiio asks her to do whatever any other employee would. As her brother-n-law, he asks her to give her marriage another chance. She tells Rogelio to stop trying to rescue everyone and to mind his own business.

28. Paula tells Cecilia about Martina and how things have been rough with Rogelio. She says it goes beyond Martina's diagnosis. Cecilia says it sounds like a mid-life crisis and all she can do is support him. Paula says she is. Cecilia asks what else is bothering her. Paula is still having memories of being with that woman. Eva told her she was somebody who took care of her but never talks about her. Paula needs answers.

29. Fidel, Fernando, Rogelio and Gabriel meet. Fernando asks Rogelio if he has spoken about Ignacio's return to the company. He says hasn't because they do not need his approval. Fernando doesn't agree. Fidel says things going better than ever. Gabriel thinks it would be a good time to hand over the shares that Martina gave him to control now that she is at the rest home. Gabriel himself has made other plans. He doesn't know if Martina agrees about the shares but he will ask her.

30. As Luis moves out, he gets some photos from the dating site. He remembers Marco telling him to fish or cut bait with Andrea. He accepts a contact from a girl. He goes to meet her at a cafe and doesn't see her. He leaves.

31. Paula asks Eva what Norma's last name is. Eva is clearly aggravated and says she doesn't remember. She says it seems like it happened in another life. Paula says it happened in this life and she needs to know why she is remembering her. Eva finally gives it up: Norma Ayizpe.(?) Paula start searching online.

MINAS #39 TINYCAP Part 1

Weirdo, I know Tuesdays are very busy for you so I put together a basic recounting of events as I perceived them, sans dialogue.

Leo and Sebas are immersed in grief, standing/kneeling by what they believe to be Emilia’s body. Sebas clutches the necklace in his hand as Ezequiel looks on.

Gael gives Roberta a little lip, telling her Nico is his family. She calls her goons to escort him off the property as she raises her one eyebrow. Gael scornfully warns them not to touch him.

A distraught Tigre gets a call from Sebas. How is Emilia he asks? The answer is direct – she is dead, Sebastian laments. Tigre is open jawed impactada and cries as Zaira hugs him.

The annoying love triangle of Miriam, Gigi and Addled is no more. Gigi kicks Addled out and asks Miriam if it was all for the money. Gigi stands with her arms folded and her head held high.

Zaira calls Gigi and tells her Emilia is dead. Gigi is shocked and saddened “what” she manages to get out.

Roberta gets a text with the picture of the corpse’s arm and necklace. Roberta gets all warm and fuzzy and smiles and shows Fidel. She is looking forward to the funeral of Emilia Sanchez.

As Emi’s body is wheeled out of the building Leo walks alongside, Sebas prostrate with grief. A shaken Orlando and Joaquina are there. Leo cries to Sara; “Dios” he rages and then puts his head on the covered corpse.

Gael and Marijo are together when Roberta slithers into the room. Marijo starts to leave but she is told to stay. Mi amor the forked tongued snake begins…your mother is dead, she died in an accident. It’s not true Gael cries! She is alive, “mama, mama” he yells running from the room. Marijo tries to go after him, Roberta holding her back; but Marijo finally shakes her off.

Everyone is gathered, Leo, Tigre, Zaira, Seb and Gael. Sebas hands Tigre the necklace and he holds it sobbing. The doctor comes out and I believe he confirms the body is Emilia (?)

Nico runs out in the yard screaming that it’s not true. “Mama” he yells as Marijo hugs him.

Gigi visits Addled and tried to put him on the spot about the fire, phone recording…he stutters for a moment but then grabs the phone. I believe she tells him no more of HER money. The divorce is on!

“Maldita” Tigre cries. He and Sebas vow vengeance.

Roberta is at Gigi’s and she and Sara talk. Sara seems sickened but I can’t translate the dialog. I think she is going to go along. Gigi shows up and Roberta greets her warmly. Gigi preens.

Leo is in the dark recalling the mine collapse and their kisses, making love as he stares at the sky screaming “Emilia”.

MINAS #39 TINYCAP Part 2 (Last)

There is a white casket as everyone gathers to pay their respects. Graveside, Nico runs into Tigre’s arms who upbraids Roberta. Roberta tries to defend herself but Zaira puts her in her place. Roberta spits out Em murdered her son. She calls Nico to come with her as Tigre says THEY are her family. Leo stands there and does and says NOTHING. ☹

Aleida and Danilo are at some sort of hospital/hideout. The camera pans and we see a badly burned Emilia bandaged and comatose. Danilo talks to her and he and Aleida have several conversations from here on, but I can’t translate. We see a flashback to Emilia, engulfed in flames and Danilo and Aleida managing to extinguish them. Is she alive Aleida mutters? “Yes” he says. They are struggling to breathe in the smoke and Emilia coughs. I believe he puts the necklace in Emilia’s hands (so I can’t account for how it ended up where it did).

Tigre is prostrate over the flower laden casket and Nico calls out to Leo for comfort.

6 semanas despues…There is a beautiful headstone on Emilia’s grave as Leo kneels, flowers in hand, grief stricken. Nico joins him with a hand drawn picture. His colorful mixed bouquet of flowers is put next to Leo’s white ones.

Emilia is still in the hospital/hideout with a bandage covering her head. Aleida murmurs softly to her, stroking her leg…

Sara and Jenny are talking when Sara seems to be sick, sitting down. Have you seen a doctor Jenny asks; are you pregnant (mentioning Leo)? Sara stares silently recalling her being with Danilo.

The monitor comes to life and Emilia has woken. “Hola” Aleida says as the doctor comes in.

Emilia’s death is still giving Roberta much joy as she meets with Addled and Fidel.

Back at Emilia’s grave, Leo, Nico and Joaquina talk as Sebas arrives. Sorry to interrupt he begins but Leo welcomes him warmly. Nico stands in the middle of both men holding their hands. They talk about the fire…

Emilia is hyperventilating, touching the bandages on her face, in great distress. Aleida takes a mirror off the wall and hands it to her. She starts freaking out but Danilo and Aleida take the bandages off and show her. Her face is indeed scared as she recoils in grief…

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, what a seamlessly written, flawless summary. I’m in constant awe of your ability to communicate so much with crystal clarity.

I’m so happy Martina stuck to her guns and made the move; it was the right decision. The natural inclination is that family want to keep their loved ones close, to watch over, to protect. But the person who is affected has every right to choose what is right for them. Martina will have her every physical need attended to. Her family can be with her to provide their unwavering love and emotional support.

“Ignacio wants her and Camilo to be able to live happily in peace, only that” spoke volumes. Ignacio’s vulnerability was so touching. He knows full well what he lost with Cecilia and takes responsibility for it. And yet, in the next breath, he takes his anger and frustration not knowing about Martina out on Cassandra. I have to say I agree with him in being hurt no one told him. He may well be always on the outside looking in. The truth is that while the brothers wanting to accept him as one of their own is genuine, when there is grief, they close rank, unintentional as that may be.

Imelda and Fernando should go their separate ways. Theirs never seemed to be a real love story, indeed at best, they seemed to civilly coexist with little warmth or passion.

“Rogelio says that is why he needs to be alone to find himself and to see and feel what he is missing”. Good for him in having the courage to let go of the reins at work, putting his faith in Fernando. He seemed in his element in the kitchen, perhaps this will be his future, his passion.

I’m not sure where Paula’s story with “Norma” is going or what the big secret/reveal will be.

Marco is really evolving and maturing and I enjoy every scene he is in. Blanca is always delightful.

I couldn’t help but smile at Marco’s calling Luis "an author open to fun." Luis and “fun” seemingly don’t compute, but that could change. 😊

The most loyal and steadfast person in this has been Gabriel. Quiet persistence and determination. And utter devotion.

Gabriel should be used by now to Martina's decisions. She consults no one. In this case it was up to her to decide, but I would be irritated if I were Gabriel because they were planning to get married and this does change things quite a bit, especially given that their plan was to live together.
Why are they pushing this idea of Ignacio having another child? Camilo is still just a baby. Why don't they talk about how hard it is to look after two kids at once? It's all very well for him to want 10 babies when he isn't living with Ceci and only ocasionally looks after his son. I don't trust him not to get mad even at his child and I think this is why I don't like this idea at all. It's like Ignacio's anger is there still, bubbling under the surface. At least I find it hard to believe it's all over. He feels desperate to have a child just so he could have a family of his own. Casandra did say at one point she can't stand his 'berrinches' and I wonder when her patience will run out. Is the message here that he only needed therapy and a different partner? Cecilia told Casandra not to make the same mistake she did and told her to help him I believe. I mean, Ceci tried to help so where is that mistake she was talking about? The only mistake I can see is that she stayed with him for too long. Or is our duty now to save violent men no matter what? It doesn't help that I can't comprehend why a woman would want to be with him. Even now he isn't very likable.
How exactly does Paula feel excluded? I just don't get it. It's a bit funny that once again it's Paula who goes to Martina and starts badgering her to stay. 'what I want to be when I grow up'. That's the question. I actually doubt Paula can really understand Rogelio here because she, like Lucas, knew early on what she wanted.
Why do they all tell Luis to 'fight for Andrea'? She is dating someome else! The same goes for Fernando. Or is now only required for one side to be in love? I am starting to think this telenovela should have had fewer episodes because things are starting to feel slightly absurd. Imelda still can't resist insulting Fernando. Why does he even love her? If he still does, that seems almost unhealthy.
Martina finally told the obvious: that Micaela was like a mother to her kids. In one of the first episodes, she basically told M to know her place when Micaela said something about Fernando. It's a nice change, but I do wonder why Martina is surprised other people are disrespectful towards staff members when sheherself could tell things to her own staff that were very hurtful. So what she said about Clotilde applies to her as well. Get off your high horse, Martina.
Did Ricardo tell where his wife had gone?
How old is Paula supposed to be?

Episode 60: Part 1 of 2

Rut and Adriana [in dominatrix wear] kissed under the tree.

La Esperanza was once again in mourning. Nani whispered to Maria Teresa that Valentina was with her father. Maria Teresa cried as she promised Valentina to take are of the ranch in her honor. Everyone was in black. Santos put a white rose on the white coffin.

Norma bumped into Marco in town. He commented on her problems with Rut. She told him that Rut and Adriana were lovers. He had not known that.

Bernarda and Regina arrived, crying profusely. Bernarda stood by the coffin and said “You don't deserve to be here You should not be dead.” and then looked up and cried to heaven “Why? Why?” Regina put Valentina's favorite doll among the flowers and hugged Bernarda.

Nani led the prayers. Clemente entered with flowers. He embraced Bernarda and Regina. Pepe looked on from another room, drinking tequila from a flask-sized bottle.

Rut and Adriana were in her bed [We were mercifully spared the build-up to this]. He was talking about the river and they began planning how to rid themselves of Marco.

Valentina's coffin was put into the ground near her father's grave. Pepe threw in a white rose, followed by Maria Teresa, Santos, Bernarda, and Regina. The latter two kissed the roses before releasing them. Two men began covering the coffin with earth.

Trejo was in his office looking over papers when Susi entered to denounce Adriana.

Maria Teresa went home and sat down on a bench on the porch. Santos sat with her and she spoke of feeling alone. She was determined to find and punish the guilty. He told her to count him in. She asked him to come back as foreman and he agreed.

Adriana and Rut had breakfast and he talked about someone having killed Valentina. Adriana was shocked. Irasema came in as Rut left and Adriana told her about Rut now knowing all. She was now looking to do away with Grim.

Santos told Maria Teresa he would be taking care of the animals until Bernarda was ready to work again.

Susi told Trejo about her escape. He told her not to leave Puerto Bravo in case he needed to talk to her again. Rut came in as she was leaving. He took Trejo's notes and Trejo knew he was up to no good. [In this day and age such interviews should be videotaped.]

Clemente was with Regina, who was crying. She told him how close she and Valentina had been; they had been more than sisters. She was overwhelmed with grief. He told her she would need to be strong for her mother. Bernarda entered and thanked Clemente for being there for them. She hugged Regina.

Tierra de Esperanza 10/24/23
Episode 60: Part 2 of 2

Cris was recovering slowly. Genoveva brought him food They talked about everything that's happened and Cris did not regard any of this as coincidence.

Santos told Bernarda he came back to work at La Esperanza. She said she'd had enough sorrow for three lives. Both cried. He told her he would do anything to relieve her of this sadness. She told him to seek happiness because he deserved it.

Norma and Clemente talked about this. He explained to her that something illegal was going on by the river. He implicated Rut in that and Norma would not believe this. Clemente declared he would get to the bottom of this because this hurt the woman he loves and her mother.

Adriana was drinking wine as Marco entered and confronted her about Rut. He demanded that she leave the ranch, saying that this was disrespectful to his father.

Clemente went to the office to help and took his place at the desk. Rodrigo arrived and Trejo introduced them. Clemente began typing up Susi's interview.

Adriana and Irasema freaked out about Marco and Rut knowing what they now knew.

Trejo and Clemente explained the killing of Valentina to Rodrigo. Remedios arrived to tell him about Adriana.

Marco entered Maria Teresa's study and demanded to know why she took Santos back. It was sorrow, not weakness. He tried gaslighting her again about Santos being a mujeriego and saying that Cris was following in his footsteps. Maria Teresa did not look convinced.

Norma went to Bernarda's house to pay her respects and promise her help. Despite her previous recent interactions with Clemente Bernarda did not seem to have changed her mind about men.

Marco finally told Maria Teresa he would give her space and prepared to leave, saying he was in love with her and had trouble keeping his distance. She told him this statement was imprudent. [In fact he tried cutting her off more than once when she was trying to stop him altogether.]

Norma also reminded Bernarda that Regina needed her. Bernarda told her that if Clemente hurts Regina she would never forgive him. Norma told her that he never would and that he loved Regina.

Remedios told Rodrigo that all the women in Puerto Bravo were in danger. Rodrigo then decided to see Rut. As he and Trejo left the office Clemente told Remedios that every time he learns more about his father he becomes more afraid to know him.

Another verbal round of territoriality happened between Santos and Marco as the latter tried provoking the former as he left the ranch.

Minas
Thanks, Diana. These last couple of episodes were hard to understand because everyone is sobbing.
I'll briefly mention that dialogue between Sara and R. R told Sara that now she must know what R is capable of. Sara says she does and adds that her own son ended up being shot. R denies this. Sara at first says she knows what R came to ask her but says it's impossible. R says she doesn't want to withdraw her support for Sara's dear papa so Sara better think of how she'll help her because she doesn't want Leo to be an obstacle. Sara somehow has come to the obvious conclusin that Leo loved E, whether they like it or not. R tells her he will have to forget her and Sara can become his greatest support and he will love her again. Sara can't promise anything but guesses correctly that R wants them to get out so that they won't mess with her plans.
Sara tells her mum, who is happy because R invited her to give a speech at an event, that R is no one's friend and that she 'doesn't forget anything'.
Apparently Aleida's family had helped Antonio financially when he was studying at uni and had financial troubles. If I understood correctly, the doctor cam from very far to help them. Danilo leantthe money Aleida needed. I'm guessing she means to pay for the place? Danilo calls E phoenix and was inspired by her heroism because she was the first one who tried saving Aleida. Welcome our candidate nr.3 who fancies E. He even has a nickname for her 'mi phoenix'. *applausefor being different*
Sara is back to being stupid because she is mad Leo is ignoring her. Oh really...what an independent woman.
Emilia is blamed for causing the fire in the report.
Addled's ex sends him aserenade and a note saying being with Miriam will be his worst nightmare.
Leo apparently 'tried to fight for justice' off screen but...you guessed it! He failed. So no trying to make him at least tolerable that I can see.

Eternamente #107

Great work, Jarifa.

While I have not had an Alzheimer's case in my family I've heard and read how difficult it is to deal with. Many related caregivers end up with PTSD. Martina is doing the right thing here.

I somehow think that Rogelio will end up becoming a chef.

Lucas does need to make up his mind. There is a lady out there for him.

I agree with Waterlily's assessment of Ignacio's sudden urge to be a father but he had no good examples in his youth to emulate. That's not a good place to start from. He needs more therapy but I don't think he will continue in it.

Fernando and Imelda should divorce, no question about it.

Eternamente

Thanks, Jarifa, so much was going on last night.

I felt bad for Cass when the doctor told her she wouldn’t have children. I wonder if that’s why she seems ready to end the relationship. Or she could be tired of putting up with him.

Imelda really has not changed at all. I don’t like her sarcastic comments. I’m surprised she’ll continue working there. I would not want to work with her.

I don’t know if there’s enough time for Luis to find someone else. When he didn’t see his date I wondered if it was one of the woman there and they had put a different picture on the site.

Paula needs to relax more. She’s always trying too hard with other people. Let them make their own decisions. I think Rogelio is going to leave the family business. Hope Paula will be supportive. And her questioning of Eva is annoying. I’m not sure how old she was when her parents died but it had to be at least 20 years ago. I don’t know the names of babysitters I used anymore.

If Martina and Gabriel are still getting married are they ever going to live together. I think Gabriel has a plan.

Thanks, Urban, another heartbreaking episode.

I hope Susie is somewhere safe. Rut will want to do away with her. He’s in his glory, he has the woman he wants, plans to work with her and get rid of Marco. I hope it all backfires. Although I wouldn’t mind if they got rid of Marco.

Norma is starting to be likable. I hope she brings her hubby down. After being fooled by Adriana and Rut she’s ready to do battle.

I can’t feel sorry for Pepe. He really was the worst of them because he betrayed the people that trusted him and worked along side of.

I’m not putting too much hope in Rodrigo. He knows their are complaints about Rut but still seems to trust what he says.

Liz

TIERRA

Urban, thank you for another thoughtful, superb recap.

“Adriana [in dominatrix wear]” was one of many favorites.

It was hard to watch Bernarda and Regina so brokenhearted. Still, Bernarda is a warrior princess, a pillar of resilience. As agonizing as the loss of her beloved Valentina is, we know she will survive. Regina will have Bernarda and Clemente to help her, although the loss of her sister will always be a gaping wound for both she and Bernarda.

In true telenovela fashion, the villains are turning against each other. I’m wondering who will be the first to perish (likely via murder). Grim? Rut? Adriana? Marco? The possibilities are endless. I was a bit surprised Rut’s pride and lasciviousness weren’t diminished by learning about Adriana’s past. “Adriana was drinking wine as Marco entered and confronted her about Rut. He demanded that she leave the ranch, saying that this was disrespectful to his father”. Yes, I’m sure Adriana will disappear, leaving him everything. Marco is so high and mighty; may he fall fast and far.

Hard truths are coming to light with Trejo as a sometimes unwilling participant. Still, I hope he will do the right thing when everything comes to a boil. Maria Teresa’s radar is on high alert. Pepe looks as though he is about to break.

I have a startling confession to make. Last night, I sorta kinda liked Norma. Her slightly imperious attitude with Marco struck just the right note. She was kind with Bernarda without being overbearing. Perhaps redemption from being perpetually annoying is on the horizon 😊

MINAS

waterlily, thank you for clarifying so much I didn't understand. What you supplied was so important.

I'm still unsure exactly how Danilo became embroiled in all of this. Was he hiding or did Sara pull him into "protecting" Emilia or none of the above? I saw the "looks" Danilo was giving Emilia so thank you for confirming he too is smitten. He was right in he was "inspired by her heroism because she was the first one who tried saving Aleida". He wanted to leave her on the floor but it was Emilia who made it clear she was taking her with them.

So Emilia was blamed for the fire! Wow. Roberta sinks to an even lower level (if that is even possible).

Diana

ETERNAMENTE

Diana, thanks. Excellent observation: "The truth is that while the brothers wanting to accept him as one of their own is genuine, when there is grief, they close rank, unintentional as that may be." At this point, Ignacio needs to get over himself, if that is possible. The brothers have enough on their plate. There is hope for Ignacio but he needs to continue with his therapist so he doesn't end up ruining things and then blaming everyone else. "I’m not sure where Paula’s story with “Norma” is going or what the big secret/reveal will be."This is what I have been wondering about. It has to be a biggie since they are giving so much time to it.

waterlily, "Why do they all tell Luis to 'fight for Andrea'? She is dating someome else! The same goes for Fernando. Or is now only required for one side to be in love?" You are so right. Isn't "NO, not interested." clear and definitive enough? Are they going to become stalkers, next?

Urban, thanks. "While I have not had an Alzheimer's case in my family I've heard and read how difficult it is to deal with. Many related caregivers end up with PTSD. Martina is doing the right thing here." Yes, she is. I do not think that any of her family have a clue to how difficult it could become to be with her at home and how difficult it may be eventually to even see her at the rest home.
I find her decision selfless.

Liz, "Paula needs to relax more. Who would remember names from at least twenty years ago? " I totally agree with uour assessment of Paula. As for Eva, she could have easily put an end to Paula's questions if she didn't cringe and look guilty for who knows what every time Paula brings up the subject. "I think Gabriel has a plan." Me, too.

Minas

Diana , thank you so much for bringing us every angst filled moment . uff.

Waterlily, thanks also for the information about Em, Dan, and Aleida. I am a little confused . You said Aleida's family helped Antonio . Who is Antonio?

So the three amigos are together in some hospital and Dan seems to have fallen for Em. Do we know who helped them get to the new hospital? Will Em be unrecognizable if she returns for vengeance and Nico?

I suppose Sara is pregnant by Dan, but she will tell Leo the baby is his .

Tierra #60

Norma has not fully taken off the blinders about Rut. She has all the puzzle pieces but isn't yet seeing how they fit together. I am hoping that in time she will be able to influence Bernarda to relax a bit and not see all men as monsters. Rut has to be out of action one way or the other for that.

Pepe is truly horrible for betraying everyone on La Esperanza, starting with that horrible attack early on. How many people died during that?

Marco must die and the Jackal with him.

Eternamente

Jarifa, thank you for that detailed couch report .

Losing control of your life must be very scary . I think Martina is just trying to make decisions while she is still clear thinking . She wants to protect the people she loves . Maybe Gabriel plans to live in the facility with her . Soulmates are only truly separated when one of them dies, and even then, love doesn't die. Real love stories never have endings. Gabriel seems Willing to do anything to be with Martina.

Perhaps Cecelia will end up with Luis. They seem to have a close, easygoing relationship.

I guess Imelda will always be Imelda. Too bad . She can stay with her mother, and they can be bitter torches together.

Chef Rog. Whatever.

What is Eva hiding from Paula?

Minas

I guess Daniel wanted to make it look like Em died because he took her necklace and put it in the hand of a covered dead person . Looks like Em has a new protector in Danilo and a new bff Aleida, who seems sweet and kind.

Minas
Susan, I believe Antonio (I'm not sure it's his name anymore) is the doctor who is treating Emilia and whose help Aleida was able to secure. Danilo said his money isrunning out, though. So apparently the doctor's help isn't enough or isn't included in the price of that facility or whatever it is they are paying for.

Eternamente

Gracias, Jarifa. If you missed anything I don't know what it could possibly be. Last night's epi was chockful of scenes and almost everyone in the cast got face time. Your coverage of it all was amazing and satisfying.

At last, Ignacio apologized to Cecilia and admitted their breakup was all his fault. But then he turns around and serves Casi a bad attitude. Ignacio, no one thought to tell you about Martina's illness because it will take awhile for the Iturbides to bond with you (ahem, plus Martina is not your mother). It doesn't happen overnight. (Fernando has extended brotherhood to you almost from the start.) No reason for you to bite off Casi's head.

"Martina hears an agitated patient pass on by. The director explains she has a bad personality and is very much alone. Martina doesn't have to talk to her."

I have a problem with a professional at a memory care home declaring a patient has a "bad personality." At some point sadly each patient will be difficult in their own way, so why write off someone as a "bad personality" instead of working with the behavior somehow. I felt like the director was telling Martina that she's better than that other patient. No one knows where Alzheimer's will take Martina.

MINAS

Thanks Susan! I didn't know it was Danilo who took the necklace and put it on another hapless victim.

waterlily, appreciate your explanation! I wonder where the poor trio will end up...

Liz, I agree Gabriel has a plan! He is steadfast and loyal and don't think he has any intention of going away.

"I felt like the director was telling Martina that she's better than that other patient. No one knows where Alzheimer's will take Martina". Niecie, I appreciated this and your other astute comments. Only heaven knows what is down the road for poor Martina. The director was completely inappropriate in her remarks and I felt skirted her ethical responsibilities.

Diana

ETERNAMENTE

Susan, "Losing control of your life must be very scary . I think Martina is just trying to make decisions while she is still clear thinking . She wants to protect the people she loves . Maybe Gabriel plans to live in the facility with her ." That wouldn't surprise me at all if that is what Gabriel is planning. it seems like something he would do. I hadn't thought of Cecilia with Luis but that could be an interesting pairing.

Niecie, Thanks. When the director made that comment about the other patient, it bothered me, too. If she felt that she had to say something, she could have said something value neutral. It was not her job to pass judgment on the patients. As for Ignacio, he has made an impressive start on his journey to get better and recover from his childhood, but there is a long road aead. I think that will take him a lot longer than the time covered in this novela .

Minas

I kind of love Daniel and Aleida lovingly taking care of Em. Looks like Daniel has a heart and is falling for Em even as Sara reminisces about their times in bed together. Ha....she has lost another guy to Em. ....ouch.

Diana, yes, when Dan and Aleida found Em, he took the necklace from her and put it in the hand of the covered body next to him .

Minas

Diana, yes, why did Daniel go into the manicomia to begin with ? He seemed to seek out Em. At one point, he was in Em's room dithering over the good nurse who received electric shock. Later, he came up to Em and Aleida while they were sitting in a bench outside and whispered something to them. Then, he used a crowbar to get Em out of her locked room when the fire started. Did he go there to hide from Addled who was looking for him because Dan swindled him , or did Sara ask him to go into the manicomia ? If Sara sent him there , was he supposed to protect Em or harm her or just observe her ?

At any rate, he now seems to be enamored and willing to protect Em.

MINAS

Good questions Susanlynn. Unfortunately I have no answers other than it may be a combination both; hiding and to do Sara's bidding (whatever that is!). For a split second, I thought he might be undercover as his bravery has been so remarkable but dear, sweet, clueless Orlando wouldn't have put him up to it...

It would be so much easier to follow all of this if we knew these answers but alas :(...

ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS #108

Notes from the couch . . .

Part 1

1. Gabriel asks Martina if she is ready to go to supper. He informs her that he has decided to come and live where she is. She says it is one thing that he loves her but totally another to ruin his life for her. He asks her what her suggestion is then; that they get married and he continues to live in his house? His only need is to be with her. He loves her. He will not leave her alone. Martina tells him no and closes her door in his face.

2. Rogelio tells the family that Gabriel has gone to live at the rest home with their mother. Fernando thinks it is ridiculous. Paula says the he really loves her. Rogelio says that Gabriel knows what he is doing and that he wanted them to know so they wouldn't be surprised to see them there when they visited their mother.

3. Martina writes in her diary. She tells herself to accept her new life for what it is and to not drag the love of her life her into a place which is only going to get darker and darker. Gabriel is sitting thinking in his room.

4. Rogelio and Paula are awake and thinking on opposite sides of the bed without a word between them. She closes her eyes and remembers being in the garden with the same unknown woman. Someone takes afoot of her, the woman and a little boy who's joined them. She sits up wide awake.

5. Martina is eating breakfast at one table and Gabriel at another. A woman called Denís sees Gabriel and introduces herself. She has just arrived. He says the same with him. She says they are two single people who can eat together . She asks if she can sit at his table. He says sure. She would prefer to sit with him because everyone else there is sort of . . . Martina is overcome with jealousy and taps her on the shoulder. She thinks Martina is just another woman who wants to sit with the handsome guy. Denís informs Martina that she got there first and she is warning her. Gabriel kindly informs Denís that Martina's is his fiancée. Denís doses't know how to respond to that but hopes that at least the food is good. Denís isn't moving so Gabriel goes to sit with Martina. Martina cannot believe it! She asks what is wrong with that gorgon. He says she is a little off? She tells him not to laugh. He insists he isn't laughing. She can see that he is laughing behind his eyes on the inside. He needs to order some food. She shoves what she was eating in front of him. She isn't smiling.

6. Ignacio gets up breathing roughly and puts on his nasal cannula. Cass is frustrated with what she is working on and throws her pencil across the room. She is still thinking about not being to get pregnant. She sees that Ignacio has tried to call her fours times but she prefers not to call him back.

7. Micaela and Paula both miss Martina.

8. Blanca's new boss shows her to her work space. He tells her the requirements of her first task. He takes a step closer and tells her: "Get started, cutie." As he walks away, he looks her up and down. She looks like she is just happy to start working and puts it out of her mind.

Leo is the DUMBEST Protagonist ever: Sara can have him for awhile.

Waterlily: Does Roberta have ambitions for the Presidency of Mexico in the future ? Because if she does, Univision & Televisa better make this a Super Series.

Part 2

9. Beatriz tells Fernando that Imelda told them that she is getting a divorce and they support her. She starts talking about monetary support. Fernando says any divorce agreement will be decided by him and Imelda. He makes it clear that he will never agree to the amount of support Imelda was asking for. He is sure that Beatriz must have had a part in determining that amount.

10. Ignacio tells the therapist that "whoops, he did it again" and he has managed to alienate everyone including Cass. The therapist says that this is different because now he realizes that people have distanced themselves from him. He is not the victim. He is taking responsibility for the very first time. He asks what does that matter if the result is the same. She asks him if he has ever asked himself why he pushes people away. He says no but then adds that he doesn't know why Cass wants to help him so much. Everyone wants something in exchange. He tells her about Martina welcoming him to the company and family and all he can think of is what is she going to ask of him in return and now especially since she has Alzheimer's. She says that is a serious diagnosis. He agrees and says that it hurts him that his brothers have to go through that. The therapist sees that he has begun to forgive himself and his brothers. She wants him to think about that.

11. Martina talks to Gabriel in his room. She asks what need does he have to live there. He says that he is a bit old and it is what he has decided. She sees him as being a bit of a fool. He smiles. Denís marches in his room with a flower for him addressing him as "handsome". Martina goes on the attack calling her a gorgon, Salomé or whoever she is and asking if she ever learned how to knock before entering a room. It makes Martina uncomfortable. Denís takes the hint and leaves in huff. Gabriel knows what is good for him and throws the flower on the floor. When Martina almost looks ready to blame him. he reminds her that he told her Denís was a little off.

12. When Blanca mentions she is a little tired in passing when talking to her boss about her work, he turns her chair to face him and tells her that if she is tired, he is inviting her to go sleep. He touches her face. She is suddenly self-conscious and says "excuse me!". He laughs, says it was only a joke and walks away. She is clearly troubled.

13. Paula is looking for the mystery woman on line. She would have been born around 1950.

14. Ignacio goes to see Cass at work. He is there to tell her he is very sorry for how he has treated her. He acted like an imbecile and is there to apologize. She tells him that his problem is that all of his apologies are just words and that doesn't work for her. He says he loves her. He wants a family with her. He swears he is dong all he can to change. She says the problem isn't only him. She sadly tells him that she found out that she cannot get pregnant. She asks him not to question her about it. All he needs to know is that she is not the woman he is going to have more children with. That is all she has to say. He leaves her in tears.

15. Micaela asks Melitón if there might be an envelope that somebody left for her. He says no. Melitón smiles at Felipa.

Part 3

16. Beatriz goes to visit Martina. She says that Martina doesn't know how it hurts her to see her like this. Martina smiles and asks her how is that?? Beatriz says she hates to see her suffering from this "illness." Martina laughs and says how lovely! She tells Beatriz that she doesn't look too good herself. She is looking tired , tense, like she didn't sleep very well. Beatriz insists she feels perfect! Martina asks her why he came. She says she wanted to see how she was and as long as she was here, she wanted to ask her if she had spoken to any of the ladies at the foundation. Martina says no and asks why? Beatriz says since Martina is "sick" like she is, maybe she had thought about leaving the presidency of the foundation. Martina doesn't understand why she would be worried about that. She isn't with them any more. Martina will do what she wants when she wants and with who she wants. Also she isn't "ill" . She is very well. Beatriz says she was only offering her support. Martina says the last time she supported her, she did her dirty. Does she remember? Beatriz insists she was always on her side. Martina says WAS is they key word. She won't have her treating her like a fool or with pity. Martina then adds "Poor Imelda!!" Now she knows where she got her ambition, capriciousness, and resentment from. Beatriz think she is insulting her. Martina says she is only defining her. Beatriz suggests that Martina consider the possibility that she is paying for all of the humiliations she has caused with her "illness." Martina laughs and tells her she is always so resentful. Beatriz says she is not the cause of Imelda's unhappiness and that Martina knew that Imelda wasn't in love with Fernando. Martina asks if it has ever occurred to her that Imelda got married to get out of her house so she wouldn't have to put up with her. Still smliing, Martina says goodbye, gets up and leaves.

17. Melitón brings Honorio an envelope for him that he found in the mail box. it is addressed to him. It is a love note printed in big letters. He reads it out loud. "I only dream about the day you will give me a hug. Signed: Your attentive admirerer" Of course Micaela just happens to be close enough to hear.

18. Paula tells Eva about her latest memory with the mystery woman. There was boy by playing a violin. NOW Eva remembers there were musicians in the woman' family and her son played the violin.

19. Beatriz tells the ladies of the foundation about her visit with Martina. She got so violent with her, extra help had to come to control her. She says that hat Martina's foundation is not going to last but they can join hers if they want to. The ladies want to go to see Martina first. Beatriz says that she can set up a visit with Martina for them.

20. Luis calls Andrea. She is in no mood to talk about their parents. She is doing great and is so happy with Marcelo. She asks if he has a girlfriend. He lies and says yes! of course !She thinks that is great. It is awkward and is soon over. Luis thinks he must be stupid for having called.

21. Rogelio is at work sitting in front of his father's portrait. Ignacio comes by. Rogelio invites him to have a seat. Ignacio says he is feeling better and he came by because he heard about his mother. Rogelio is on the verge of tears. Ignacio wants him to know he is very sorry and that he is here if he needs him. Rogelio thanks him. Rogelio says the situation is difficult and what bothers him the most is the uncertainty.

Part 4

Ignacio gets it because he experienced the same thing with his own mother. All he can tell him is that that things will settle down with time and he needs to trust in life. Rogelio thanks him. Ignacio says for a long time he has been managing his life very badly. Now he wants to do things differently since his mother invited him to be part of the business and of the family. He thinks it is a good time to find out what it is to have brothers. Rogelio smiles through his tears and asks if he can give Ignacio a hug. Ignacio says of course. Rogelio smiles as he hugs Ignacio.

22. Cecilia comes home to a note that Ricardo was there to see her. She calls Paula to go visit her.

23. At the market, as Honorio is talking with a vendor, Micaela starts flirting with another vendor. Too bad that his girlfriend shows up. She leaves with Honorio.

24. Felipa tells Melitón that the Cupid plan is in the third phase where Micaela is going to get jealous and that will be it. Melitón wants to know how many steps she had in her plan for him. She says none. He was easy pickens' and cute. Micaela enters followed by Honorio and she is in a mood. Felipa asks what is wrong. She says NOTHING.

25. Paula tells Cecilia about tracking down the mystery woman. She wants to know all about her past. Cecilia tells her that she is s5arting to like Ricardo a little.

26. Blanca comes in looking very tired and pale which Micaela notices. Blanca says she has been a little worried like maybe she has a6emia because she has felt like she could fall asleep anywhere but insists she is fine. Micaela decides to take a look at her. Magically Micaela knows that she is pregnant. Blanca says that cannot be. It isn't in her plans. She also has an IUD. Micaela tells her to check her calendar. Blanca says she won't but then says she will . . .

27. With a twinkle in his eye, Honorio invites Micaela out for a hot chocolate and some conchas. It his birthday. She has forgotten. She agrees to go later. He says that people usually get a hug on their birthday. She gives him hug and he thanks her. He makes sure the hug lasts a long time.

28. Blanca is in her room looking at her calendar and counting days. She suddenly realizes that she could be pregnant.

29. Micaela is going to look after Jazz because Paula is going out with Rogelio.

30. Paula ends up at Pedro's. Rogelio serves her a dish and asks if she likes it. She loves it. He tells her that if he seems strange, it is because he is having a mid-life crisis. It has nothing to do with her. It is him. She thanks him for clarifying that. He makes it clear that it isn't only about his mother's illness. There are so many changes and things going on that he feels lost. Pedro arrives and Paula asks him for the recipe for what she is eating. The men laugh. Rogelio admits she is eating his recipe that he came up with yesterday. She congratulates him.

Part 5

31. The brothers decide they are going to visit Martina.

32. Paula keeps searching for Norma Arizpe online. She finds Norma and sends her a message that she would like to see her. Norma answers her almost immediately.

33. Blanca comes to see Paula for help. She thinks she is pregnant and she is so very afraid because Marco didn't want children. It wasn't in their plans. She doesn't know what to do. Blanca isn't certain she is pregnant but she is late and she has other symptoms. Paula orders three (to be sure) pregnancy tests to be delivered. The tests arrive ASAP and it turns out that Blanca is indeed pregnant. She is worried about how she is going to tell Marco.

34. Martina admits to missing things and the food at home but tells her sons that she is fine with where she is. They ask her if she has any friends. She brings up Gabriel's "friend" "Denís" or whatever her name is. Gabriel insists she is not his friend. Martina's sons smile. Marco thinks she is a little bit jealous. Martina says no way! Martina notices that Rogelio looks a bit out of sorts. He says he has something to tell them all. He doesn't feel like his job is fulfilling him anymore. He feels strange and lost. He is going through a a crisis and he is asking himself if he is really happy doing what he is doing. The truth is he isn't. He has had a lot of changes in his life. He isn't moving out of the house but he is thinks it is only right for him to turn over the presidency of the company to Fernando. Martina cannot believe it.

That is it for me tonight. Please feel free to add anything I left out.

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, you deftly guided us through tonight’s events, your skillful writing and sharp powers of observation on full display.

Gabriel is so loving and staunchly supportive. He was not going to be put off, making a statement of his devotion by moving in despite Martina’s annoyance. I so enjoyed Martina’s overt jealousy over Denis and I suspect Gabriel did as well. But I really had to smile that “Gabriel knows what is good for him and throws the flower on the floor”. A wise man realizes when enough is enough. 😊

Speaking of not so wise men, “Ignacio tells the therapist that "whoops, he did it again" was perfect! Cass is right; Ignacio always apologizes after the fact but never learns from his many mistakes. He continues to spew and speak before he thinks, doing little to alter his behavior. He is an expert at alienating others and decimating rather than building relationships.

Martina refused to let Beatriz run roughshod over her! She put Beatriz in her place; now only if she would stay there! Beatriz lying to the group saying Martina was violent was despicable.

Instead of Blanca worrying about how Marco will handle the news about her pregnancy, perhaps she should first decide how she feels about it.

Ignacio’s therapist’s beautiful pink silk shirt tail blouse was lovely but Meliton and Felipe’s matching (in different colors) aprons was tonight’s fashion favorite.

Loved Felipa and Meliton moving into the next phase of their plan to get Mica and Honorio together!

Rogelio is clearly completely preoccupied, primarily on his midlife crisis. I am all for Rogelio finding himself but wish he’d waited a bit before springing his news about making Fernando president. No time is a good time but Martina has barely moved and is still coming to terms with everything happening to her.

MINAS #40 A FEW FLEETING THOUGHTS #40 Part 1

I am very tired so the dialog was even more over my head than usual. Please correct anything I got wrong and kindly add what I missed.

Danilo holds a mirror up to Emilia who, seeing her burned face, recoils in horror, shaking and crying hysterically. Aleida tries to comfort her but the doctor is forced to give her a sedative as Danilo and Aleida cringe.

Gigi is holding a rally and Zaira approaches her telling her of Emilia’s passing.

Roberta crawls in on her belly as Nico and Marijo look at pictures of Emilia. She holds out her hands, demanding the pictures. Visual pictures, proof of Emilia’s existence are obviously now forbidden. After she leaves, Marijo envelops Nico in a huge hug.

Orlando and Fidel meet, Orlando in tremendous discomfort as usual. I believe Fidel wants Orlando to convince Leo to sign some papers.

Leo and Sebas commiserate at Emilia’s grave.

Roberta is dedicating a park (in her own name; the vanity I lament ☹). Fidel and Addled are there, Addled cutting the ribbon. Gigi gives an impassioned speech about women.

Nico’s former tormenter approaches to say how sorry he is that his mother died. Roberta intercedes with her resting beyotch face. Then his father approaches telling him to respect Nico, a far cry from his previous behavior. All the fawning respect obviously due to La Patrona of course.

Orlando and Leo brainstorm which translates to very little.

Emilia dreams of Nico, pushing herself up and managing to get out of bed while Aleida sleeps next to her, unaware.

Nico has a nightmare. He envisions Emilia pushing him on swings and then flying a kite. Leo and Mau are in his vision but as he tries to run to them, Emilia drags him away. Nico runs for his abuelita, crying.

Emilia has escaped and takes some clothes hanging on a line, working to wrap herself up, on her way.

Sebas and Leo are talking as Sara shows up. What is it he asks not in a loving fashion. Sara doesn’t beat around the bush - I’m pregnant she says as he stares.

The dynamics at Nico’s school have changed as he is being treated with respect now rather than disdain. Nico looks up and sees a face bandaged Emilia crouched against the wall of the school. He stares not knowing who she is (at the moment) but before he can react, a school officer hustles Nico into the school as Emilia hides behind a pillar.

Leo is nonplussed at Sara’s news, finally saying OK, OK. Hardly the response Sara was likely seeking. It’s my child, my decision she leaves him with. He looks grave.

Diana

MINAS #40 A FEW FLEETING THOUGHTS #40 Part 2

Danilo and Aleida get dressed quickly and are off in hot pursuit of Emilia. They conclude Emilia is likely on her way to find Nico who is staying with La Patrona!

Marijo and Gael meet and hug as there are cat calls in the background. She fills him in on all of the problems. She tells him goodbye and leaves as he looks after her, upset.

Zaira tries to cheer up a still jobless Tigre, reminding him of their son and his grandson. She is so good to him, she perches on his lap and kisses him, she even manages to make him smile. Leo arrives and I believe he offers him something (consulting?) relative to the mine.

Fidel and Addled are meeting when his staff interrupts with important news; Addled has been served with divorce papers! As Addled leaves, Fiel erupts in laughter. Ass.

Danilo and Aleida are inside the police station when she sees Orlando and her face mirroring acute pain, quietly cries “my son!!” She tries to run to him but Danilo holds her back, and as she tries to cry out, has no choice but to put his hand around her mouth. Orlando and Ezequiel end up in the office right around the corner where they listen to their conversation but I didn’t catch what they said. Aleida is beside herself as Danilo tries to calm her down, reminding her about Fidel’s part in the fire.

Back at the dark tower, Joaquina and Nico are having a moment of fun when Marijo comes in for some comfort and a hug.

Sara tells Jenny she is pregnant and Jenny is ecstatic! Sara isn’t quite as enthused but Jenny doesn’t listen and can’t wait to be an aunt. Addled walks in to darken the moment.

It appears that Emilia has almost made her way onto La Patrona’s when a car comes careening up and hits her! Oh, the driver is Leonardo!

Diana, I want to thank you for your amazing recaps this week. I can do Thursday and Friday. :)

I would have enjoyed Martina's jealousy a bit more if I liked her even a bit. It annoys me she tells Gabriel he can't live there and yet complains when her sons want to decide things for her. Then she is of course jealous. It was irritating to watch her.
i don't like Beatrice, but it was interesting to see that Martina's response to this being a punishment was that Beatrice is resentful. But has Martina ever thought she was wrong to treat Paula and Erica the way she did? Blanca? She never apologised to them. She was luckyPaula and Blanca didn't send her to the devil and instead did what I can't imagine anyone doing: tried to please a control freak who didn't respect them. Has anyone ever put monarca in her place, I wonder? I seem to be unable to forgive her, especially as she keeps doing the same over and over and because the writers made Paula go out of her way instead of moving out or just putting Martina in her place. Here we go again with Martina not being happy Rogelio does something she doesn't approve.
So what is the message here about Blanca's contraceptin failing? Marco doesn't want kids. Does it mean she does? And what about her studies? This is what i'd be worrying about.
I want that plotline with Luis and Andrea to end now because I know I won't like what they have planned for these two. Luis really acts like a fool. The same goes for Ignacio. Casandra said the statement of the evning. I wonder how much therapy he'll need to actually start changing his behaviour instead of saying sorry every time and then doing the same thing over and over.

Minas
Orlando is supposed to convince Leo that the fire was Emilia's fault. Good luck with that. But I still would like to know why he hasn't left.
I'm not sure what Orlando and that other guy were talking about. But apparently Fidel has some of those contraband camiones around and so needs Orlando to send some men. Orlando promised to send two teams or something. It was this that made his mother realise Orlando was involved in his father's shady dealings. Against his will, of course, but it doesn't matter much in terms of damage.
Roberta wants to send Marijo to Ireland. If she tries to escape, the Sanchez family will pay for her disobedience. R also forbid her from telling this to Leo. And this is where I most probably will have to cover my ears because she will not tell Leo anything.
At least Leo talked to tigre. That's about the only useful thing he has done in...what? The entire show? I can't remenmber him doing anything special in general. Oh he got some info on his mum so that's two things he has done.
I imagine it's too early for Leo to recognise E. But that reencuentro means the writers, for reasons unknown, will follow the usual plot. I wonder if there are any women on the writing team. But then again, invencible is about female empowerment and there a guy slept with another lady and it was all 'men are men'. So I sometimes wonder if even women realise men don't have to just be given a pass for every stupid thing they do. Mecxican telenovelas would turn anyone into a feminist, if only just out of frustration they cause.

Minas
Oh I meant vencer! I keep mixing up these two.

MINAS

Thanks so much Weirdo! I look forward to reading your surely amazing recaps!

waterlily, thank you for all the information. So, in the course of overhearing that brief conversation, poor Aleida learned Orlando is mixed up in Fidel's dirty dealings. Orlando knows better, he needs to stand up and just refuse to do Fidel's bidding. He'll be a marked man but I don't know how he can continue to cover for loathsome lizard Fidel.

Marijo banished to Ireland?? Well I guess that's better than killing her which Roberta wouldn't hesitate to do.

Yes, Leo talking with Tigre was a small step forward.

I really like Danilo and Aleida teaming up with Emilia. Can't wait to see where they go from here.

Diana

Eternamente

Thank you Jarifa! You catch every moment and evert twist and turn from your comfy couch! You have done so much work bringing up daily recaps of this and we appreciate you so much!!!

I'm a little bummed that Blanca is pregnant since we didn't want kids, but I have at least one nephew who was conceived when my sister had an IUD so I know it's possible. Did they need EVERY child bearing age woman to have a baby though?? That said, I'm betting Marco will be thrilled when he finds out. I don't know why, I just have a feeling....even if he isn't thrilled I doubt very much he'd leave Blanca no matter what she decided.

I wouldn't assume Martina never apologized just because we didn't view the apology. I think the nature of the relationships and the closeness of the family speaks of reconciliation. Paula completely adores Martina and Blanca seems to too, I don't think you get there in the land of 'she never even apologized!' Plus, she apologized easily and readily to Melton when she realized she'd endangered him, I see a woman who has learned to humble herself and I assume the other apologies happened even if I didn't see them. But maybe I'm wrong...

Ignacio is definitely a work that needs lots of progress but I think it's a good sign that he actually listens to his therapist. He might make 1,000 more mistakes before he truly gets it but I do see that he wants to be better. It was heartwarming watching the hug between Ignacio and Rogelio.

Diana, it didn't occur to me Mari's other option might have been worse. What a madrastra: you either go abroad or die. That second option makes the first one lookattractive even But Leo seems to have abandoned her. He said more than once she can count on him I think but I wonder if he would even do anything if she told him what's going on. Where does Leo live? Could she go live with him?.

MINAS

Waterlily, I put nothing past Roberta. Mari is strictly an annoyance. Yes, Leo has certainly let Mari down but then again, he refuses to open his mind to the reality his mother is a cold blooded maniacal killer.

Did Leo ever get rid of his apartment? I don't know, he may be living there. Even if he had wanted Mari with him, Roberta would never have allowed it. She wants her out of sight and out of mind. Contemptible.

Diana

Minas

Diana, thank you so much for taking the time to give us a recap.

Waterlily ( wish I chosen such a lovely name ) thanks for the information.

I was thinking about how odd this role must been for Livia Brito. The Emilia character has been under siege since the very beginning of this novela...drugged, raped, injured and trapped in the mine, threatened by an angry mob, sent to a manicomia where she was drugged and almost electric shocked , burned ....yikes. It kind of puts Your own challenges in life Into perspective.

Hmmm ...Rob is exiling Marijo to Ireland . Seems a random place to send her to. ???

I am most fascinated now by the unexpected partnership of Daniel and Aleida to protect and support Em.

One of Roberta's minions shuffled Nick into the school building as Nick was starting to go to Em ...call of the blood for sure.

I noticed that when Sara told Leo that she is pregnant , he seemed to be struggling with that hard math trying to calculate his last bunny hop with her . I think she lied that they bunnyhopped that night he got drunk and passed out in the bed before she could get his pants off . Leo turned and walked away from her , and as he was vigorously rubbing his face ,he moaned " oy...wow."...not exactly the response you want to the baby daddy .

Seb and Leo seem to have formed a friendship in their mutual grief over the loss of the love of both their lives. Web had his arm around Leo at one point. I love Seb.

So...what is Leo going to do with the "stranger " he just ran into ? I hope our new hero Danilo and sweet bff Aleida find Em. Where is this story headed ??

I am finished with useless Orlando .

I hope Leo wakes up and does something . If Seb senses that the masked stranger is Em , he must be her soulmate. We shall see where the writers are going to take us.

Minas

Isn't Leo living in that house he bought where he and Em had one happy noche together ? I thought that is where he and Orlando met to talk . ( p.s. That is all these two guaypos do....talk. )

ETERNAMENTE

Diana, thanks. "Loved Felipa and Meliton moving into the next phase of their plan to get Mica and Honorio together!" This goofy plot was so welcome last night in the midst of all the angst. I found it cute that Felipa had come up with a plan and was not leaving it to chance. Poor Melitón realizing that Felipa didn't need a plan to get him. "Beatriz lying to the group saying Martina was violent was despicable." Beatriz gets just worse and worse. Like so many of these women Martina and Imelda included, Beatriz needed to be out of the home in the workplace achieving something for herself and not stuck in some gilded cage.

waterlily, "So what is the message here about Blanca's contraceptin failing? Marco doesn't want kids. Does it mean she does? And what about her studies? This is what i'd be worrying about." It is going to be really interesting seeing how this all comes out but iI expect that he will have a change of heart. It would go with the continual baby flow in this novela. ITA that I would be worrying about her studies, too.

Darcy, thank you for your kind comment! "I wouldn't assume Martina never apologized just because we didn't view the apology. I think the nature of the relationships and the closeness of the family speaks of reconciliation. Paula completely adores Martina and Blanca seems to too." I so agree with your assessment of Martina. Just because Martina isn't warm and cuddly doesn't mean that she hasn't shown any love and respect to anyone even if we didn't see it.

Tierra de Esperanza 10/25/23
Episode 61: Part 1 of 3

Rodrigo confronted Rut over the prostitution ring. Rut first pretended to know nothing then decided to blame Trejo for incompetence over Susi's statement. Trejo looked at Rut, then Rodrigo, perhaps for a clue.

Maria Teresa sat at her desk and flashed back to her father telling her she needed to get on with her life. That was when she almost married Aldo. She remembered her first encounter with Valentina, then her last. As she heard Valentina's voice in her mind's ear to make Santos happy he entered asking what Marco was doing on the ranch. Maria Teresa said he was offering his help. Santos told her he did not trust Marco, then left her to her thoughts.

Rut continued to try to gaslight Trejo and/or Rodrigo. Trejo said he's a bit slow on the computer and wrote everything by hand to start off. Rut kept interrupting him, finally declaring that two deaths have occurred there was no progress in the investigations. He then demanded everything relating to these cases and relieved Trejo of duty be firing him. Rodrigo watched this carefully [We hope he is of the same mind as we]. He then insisted that all this be resolved quickly. He wanted Adriana detained; Rut said he would take care of it.

Santos and Cris talked about Marco and Rut and that they were in cahoots. Rut was looking for any pretext to arrest Santos. They needed to get proof of the conspiracy.

Clemente was typing away when Trejo returned to the office to retrieve his personal stuff. He told Clemente that Rut had fire him. Clemente said that Rut was covering up for Adriana because they were lovers. Trejo was removing a trophy from the shelf when Rut came in. He asked Clemente what he was doing there and he replied that he was visiting “mi amigo, Trejo.” Rut said he needed to be alone with Trejo. When Clemente closed the door behind him Rut said “I had to sacrifice someone or we'll all end up in prison.”

Santos was becoming weary of all the troubles and sensed that something else was going to happen. He was Home and his job was to work the ranch and protect its people. He now needed to find Valentina's killer.

The women of Puerto Bravo were shunning and/or castigating Adriana. One threw her coffee onto her dress, saying that they had no use for husband thieves.

Trejo wanted to know whom Rut was protecting. He was sure he was not the one. “You won't end up in prison; you'll end up somewhere else” Rut said. “You don't know people and what I'm capable of.” “Yes, I know.” Rut continued in his condescending manner, saying it was better to keep silent about what he knew and that this situation was temporary.

Maria Teresa buried herself in organization and paperwork to distract herself from her grief. Nani disagreed with this, saying that thinking of the good times would put the right memories in the proper place. Maria Teresa was especially disturbed by Valentina's dying words, sure that she could not comply with them.

Rut went back to his office and before he could catch his breath Adriana barged in with her Damsel in Distress act. He suggested she go home and wait for him but she said they should maintain appearances. He agreed that they should not be seen together. He asked if she knew she had been denounced and handed her the document She looked at the front page, then handed it back without having read it. He told her not to worry, then made a phone call.

As Trejo carried his stuff out he explained to Clemente that his father had accused him of “not being able to maintain order” in the town, especially with reference to the two recent murders. Clemente and Trejo knew that Rut abused his power and Trejo said there was little he could do about it. Clemente said they had to find out who killed Valentina. Trejo looked a little apprehensive, as he was certainly aware of the risks.

Tierra de Esperanza 10/25/23
Episode 61: Part 2 of 3

Montage:

--- Santos gave the workers a pep talk
--- Bernarda and Regina put fresh flowers on Valentina's grave (Headstone said Valentina was 23)
--- Things were normalizing at La Esperanza
--- Adriana and Rut were in his “office” at night about to desecrate a couch in the public room on the ground floor
--- Clemente tried to question Pepe who not only would not talk, but was still drinking before 5PM
--- Marco – while drinking after dark – crumpled up papers and tossed them aside in his living room.

Days Later:

Bernarda and Regina waited in the clinic. Regina was wondering what would happen if the surgery didn't work. Bernarda was sure it would. Regina wished that Valentina was there with her because she was the stronger of them. Bernarda said “You are as brave as she was” and that she was there with them, taking care of them.

Susi was in Rut's office with him and Rodrigo. She identified Grim as he appeared in the square. Rut used a police radio to order the arrest. When the uniformed cops grabbed and cuffed him he shouted back “Damned traitor! This will not end here! You will pay!” Rodrigo looked quickly at Rut, then outside again.

Santos told Maria Teresa that all was well. Maria Teresa was satisfied that healing was in progress. She told Santos that she had broken off with Marco after Valentina's death. She had never loved him because...[you know the rest]. However, after all that has happened, things were different now.

Rut and Rodrigo went out to the police car and Rut verbally accused Grim of white slavery. Rodrigo commended Rut on solving this. Rut said that Adriana was at the police station and that she was one of Grim's victims. He talked as though the case was almost wrapped up but Rodrigo insisted upon speaking with her.

Regina was wheeled into her hospital room, still out like a light from the anaesthesia. Bernarda kissed her.

Trejo visited Clemente who told him that nobody could identify any suspicious movement in town or near La Esperanza on the day that Valentina was shot. Therefore that the killer haed to be someone who had free or easy access to the property. Trejo looked like the gears and wheels were in motion.

Santos and Cris were concerned about the cows, some of whom weren't eating. They missed Valentina and now Bernarda and Regina who were still in Mexico City. Santos had to tell Maria Teresa and Cris asked about the more personal stuff. Santos admitted that they still had feelings for each other but after all that had happened the situation had changed. He was sure he couldn't do anything to revive their relationship.

Maria Teresa and Nani were having the same conversation.

Tierra de Esperanza 10/25/23
Episode 61: Part 3 of 3

Norma brought ice water and thanked Trejo for helping Clemente and hoped that justice would be served. She was leaving to see her lawyer and thanked Clemente for opening her eyes about Rut.

Adriana lied her slutty arse off to Rodrigo about not knowing what Grim was when she had fallen into his trap. He did not look like he believed her.

Santos did not see Pepe yet and Pedro(?) said he saw him drinking and he had been like this ever since Valentina died. He had been going on about how she didn't deserve this. Santos told them all that though they all missed her life had to go on and the good things needed to continue.

The first sounds Regina heard was the clicking of the abacus on the doctor's desk and Bernarda telling her she loved her. Regina signed to her mother that she had a pretty voice.

Maria Teresa continued the pep talk and all went off to work. She thanked Santos and we see the signs that all with soon be well between them.

The Jackal strode over to Marco's hacienda, followed by Rut and Rodrigo. Rut told Marco he was to come to the police station about Grim.

The traffic noises in Mexico City were a bit much for Regina. Bernarda told her that when they get home she will love the sounds of weather and animals. [I recommend getting her a sweet, purring kitten or two.]

Cris approached Genoveva as she was cleaning the porch floor. She scolded him over his dirty boots. However, things between them looked optimistic as they talked about going dancing.

Santos found Pepe on a bench, drinking. He said to come with him and he'd make him coffee to help sober up. Pepe finally found his conscience. He said he knew everything and was threatened if he talked. However, when Santos started asking him about it he got up and left.

Marco denied any knowledge of Grim's activities, saying he bought artwork through him; that's it. Rodrigo dismissed him and left the room. When the door closed behind him Marco demanded an explanation from Rut.

Maria Teresa recommended to Genoveva to deal directly with men because sometimes they need a push,

Rut told Marco that Grim had not disappeared as they had told him to and that the women who escaped denounced him. Marco asked why he didn't do away with them and Rut said he had no way of doing so with Rodrigo breathing down his neck. Cris, Remedios, and Santos had helped one of them. Maro decided that they had to do something about him.

Thanks, Jarifa another excellent recap.

I really liked Rogelio and Ignacio hugging after Ignacio was very sympathetic to him. But I worry as the brothers don’t know the full extent of what Ignacio did. Maybe they’ll never find out.

I knew Beatrice was gossiping about Martina but didn’t realize she was telling such awful lies. I wonder how her story will end. I thought Imelda was seeing her mother with new eyes but I wonder if that was just a one time thing. Will she ever see herself in her mother?

If anyone gets Martina out of the rest home it will be the brazen lady going after Gabriel.

How could I have missed the matching aprons!! But Felipa really has planned out this romance in the making.

I think I was the only one that believed Blanca wouldn’t have a baby. I know this baby will end up wanted and loved. But enough’s enough.

"TIERRA":

RGV Chick: I think the Gran Final might be set for Monday evening at 8:00 PM CST because I've got a feeling Univision might've cut the Gran Final into different parts.

Not sure, but we'll find out.

"TIERRA" EPISODE #61:

UA: Howdy from the Alamo City. Good Job on the recap of last night's episode & seeing the previews for tonight's upcoming episode, I hope Crazy Marco doesn't kill Remedios.

TIERRA

Urban, another spectacular summary! I am so very appreciative. Finally, things are starting to percolate, not quite yet ready to boil, but close.

“Regina wished that Valentina was there with her because she was the stronger of them. Bernarda said “You are as brave as she was” and that she was there with them, taking care of them”. I believed that as well. Outside of Bernarda being overly protective, she has been an excellent mother. I’m still smarting that Valentina was sacrificed, I still feel there was another way.

The bigger the hypocrite, the bigger the cross. The outsize cross on Marco’s table had me shaking my head. My head and heart tell me few prayers were said in that unholy abode.

“Trejo looked like the gears and wheels were in motion” was perfect. I’m glad Rut fired Trejo, he is finally out from under his thumb. At least for the time being. He’s gained financially for some misdeeds but I hope in the end, he isn’t sent to prison. Clemente needs him.

Rodrigo seems to be putting the pieces together, but is he intuitive enough to know he is in grave danger?

Grim is the obvious sacrificial wolf but others will follow. It seems Rut will definitely defend Adriana over Marco and given the fact she also detests him does not bode well for Marco’s future. The question is, who will strike first and fiercest??

Pepe is perpetually soused. Perhaps he will spill the beans if he has a rare moment of sobriety??

Thanks, Urban, love reading about this the next day. A nice retell of all the action. And a review for me!

I’m glad Regina can now hear but think how much nicer it would be if her sister was there. I hate when they kill off innocents.

I hope you are right in your belief that Rodrigo didn’t believe Adriana and was looking doubtful about Rut in the 3 way conversation with Trejo. I thought he was buying what Rut said. I was so mad that he didn’t tell Rut to give Trejo a chance to speak. He did kind of look at Rut when Grim was yelling traitor. I hope Grim spills everything and implements all of them. But we’ll probably lose one a day till the end.

I hope MT meets Susie and the girl that helped Clemente and realizes they’re not Santo’s girls. Norma needs to get to know them so she can learn how to judge a person’s character. It’s not by the airs they put on!

The Jackal is probably the meanest looking of the baddies but they are all cold blooded killers. Although maybe Grim isn’t a killer.

I’m surprised Pepe is still alive.

MINAS

Susan, thanks so much.

"I am most fascinated now by the unexpected partnership of Daniel and Aleida to protect and support Em". I am as well! I can't wait to see what they do...

I was going back and forth as to whether the man who guided Nico back into school was a school official or Roberta's goon. I chose the former only because he seemed to be wearing a blazer but I'm still not sure.

No spoiler but it seems obvious as to where Sara and Leo's relationship is headed...surely he will swallow what she fed him hook, line and sinker.

"Useless" Orlando is right! I had such high hopes for the dreamy detective.

Rodrigo seems like one who plays the long game. He's gathering data before striking. He wants something he can get on Rut. He also knows that Santos could not have killed Esteban no matter what lies come out of Rut's mouth.

Marco is near the edge at this point. He will likely make another attempt on Santos' life. He has to sense by now that Maria Teresa doesn't trust him as she used to. Now one has to wonder whether he could marry Maria Teresa and permanently conceal the secret that he killed Valentina. Not that this will happen but is he that much of a psychopath?

Urban, thank you for every detail asvtgese, chickens cone home to roost.

Rodrigo , go get 'em. I hope the evil ones don't try to eliminate him.

Thank you Urban excellent job as always!

Perhaps it’s because I too am still smarting over Vale’s death, I found myself distracted wondering what it would be like to hear for the first time as an adult. For example, would you recognize words? If you’d never heard them before you wouldn’t know what they sounded like. But then Regina can read lips so she’d know that way but I would think she would still have to learn the sound of the words and learn how to speak herself rather than just start talking. Maybe that’s why she’s signing and not trying to talk. I also noticed Bernarda told Regina that their home would always be Esperanza so I guess she is no longer thinking about leaving.

Ordinarily I wouldn’t be down with the whole town shunning one woman, but Adriana deserves it!!

Whoever goes down first I hope Marco’s fall is steep and painful! No quick, easy outs for this dirtbag!! Clemente is putting two and two together and Pepe isn’t going to be able to keep quiet, if Trejo turns too that will be the tipping point I think. I agree that Rodrigo is onto Rut as well! Two more nights! It’s time for fireworks!!!

Tierra #61

It probably would take some time for someone like Regina to learn how to speak. A cochlear implant patient will hear things differently from a person born with normal hearing ability. Regina is facing a learning curve steeper than that of the child in this video.

Three episodes to go and much still needs to happen. I for one want to see Regina and Clemente get their FPS as well as Santos and Maria Teresa.

ETERNAMENTE

Liz, thanks! "I think I was the only one that believed Blanca wouldn’t have a baby. I know this baby will end up wanted and loved. But enough’s enough. " ITA but I wonder if the writers had as a goal to have as many pregnancies and babies as possible. Are there any women of child bearing age left that haven't/wanted (Cass) to have a baby? I admit that I have gotten a kick out of the babies in the different scenes being held, fed, etc.

Super job, Jarifa. "whoops, he did it again" - lol.

Kudos to Deniz! Realistic that she would hit on hottie Gabriel the moment she saw him. I got a kick out of Martina shooting her down.

I was surprised Paula's dream included a little boy. The plot thickens...

Meliton has been annoying me, but I love that Felipa has a master plan for hooking up Honorio and Micaela.

It would've been satisfying to see Martina apologize to Paula and Blanca, like we saw Ignacio finally admit his faults to Cecilia.

Urban, I thought the finale was Friday but after reading your comment about 3 episodes I looked it up on Zap2it and see that it is showing a Monday finale, and a 2 hr finale at that!!! I wasn’t expecting that! I don’t know if you want to recap Monday since it’s the finale or if you want me to since it is a Monday. If you would like I will recap but if it is 2 hours I probably won’t be able to post anything that would do justice to a finale recap until late in the day on Tuesday. Maybe not until after work.

I wasn't surprised that Blanca was pregnant . The writers just couldn't resist . Marco has Bern my favorites character since the beginning , and I am sure he will be excited and happy to learn that he is going to be a daddy .

All these babies must be getting expensive. I think that is why we have so often been seeing strollers with blankets covering them ( and no baby needed ). Ha.

I have read that in homes for elderly, for every 7 women , there is one hombre ! Lots of competition for old hombres . I used to teach from a reading textbook that had a chapter entitled " Who Lives Longer?" It stated that at birth , baby girls are biologically programmed to live 7 years longer than baby boys ....hence the 7 to 1 statistic in the later years .

ETERNAMENTE

Niecie, after thinking about it, I think I confused my Whoops! with Oops! Glad you got a laugh out of it. I sure hope Paula manages to talk to mystery woman Norma sooner rather than later.

Susan, thanks for the stats. It sure explains this situation but how depressing that men are genetically programmed to live a shorter time. I agree that Marco will most likely welcome the pregnancy.

Darcy,
let's share. You do the first hour and I'll take the second.
