Thanks for a terrific recap, dondi! I loved the scene of Merdan reminding his son that he loves him despite their estrangement. And the Metin actor, silent, did a good job of looking chastened for having assumed his father was just trying to run.

I enjoyed Cinar's pleading for Ilgaz to back off. They are a bit too far apart in age and experience to be that close but Ilgaz saw the love from his brother. He needs it these days.

I never connected the dots that what Fake Cetin gave that woman was the bride's necklace. When we saw him do it, I thought it was a bracelet. And it's worth the price of a car?

Nice guy Ilgaz comforts Aylin while her sister runs off to the next thing.

At last we have a name. Nizam Teven. Lying is his default verbiage. Hopefully his scamming days are over, at least for a good while. He might get off on the grifting of Aylin since she willingly gave him $, but stealing an apparently valuable necklace might put him in the slammer for a few years.

Goksu rides again! The best forensic lab technician in Istanbul gets the key evidence. She found vomit, I think, in the stitching where the sole of the shoe met the rest of it.

I was happy to see Pars being able to unburden himself to Ilgaz. These two have come a long way.

I remember Kars from Hercai. It was where Azize took her family for some years before returning to Midyat for revenge.

As I wrote before, I will not continue with daily recaps this week. But I can't think why regulars here can't put up comments about things that strike them about each evening's episode.

Nuria’s devastation over the “supposed” death of Andres, was hard to watch. How Fausto and the Captain could stand before her, lying through their teeth, was unconscionable. The Captain especially, because we already know that a dead inside psychopath like Fausto can’t feel. Fausto is a parasitic survivor, and thats his only reason for living. There’s a reason, I’m sure (or at least I hope so) why he is the way that he is, and I hope this novela doesn’t just peg him as a bad seed. I have no intention of feeling sorry for him in the least, even if it turns out that his father beat him every day of his pathetic life. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

So Santiago not only saves the day, but Nuria’s life, although, for the life of me, I don’t know why he thought it was the best course of action to just give her some words of encouragement and tell her to go to sleep. Like dude, couldn’t you make sure that someone was even home to look after her?? Like the girl just tried to commit suicide!! Looks like there will be a slow build up to the romance between between them, and I’m okay with that.

I’m glad Jacinto isn’t buying any of this, but if he isn’t careful the Captain will resign him to desk duty or a suspension. Why would Consuelo/a ever look at Fausto in comparison to Jacinto? I wonder if they grew up together and she’s just never thought of him in a romantic sense?

Martha’s entire attitude towards Santiago is really stumping me. I just don’t get it? At some point she apparently loved him, or at least cared for him, so I don’t understand why she can’t show him just the tiniest bit of kindness? Just the smell of him sends her into a tizzy……

I like Amelia, and her sadness over her marriage is appropriate, but I get the feeling that she’s about to be majorly manipulated now that Braulio knows that she wants to adopt, and the requirements it takes for her to do that. Braulio has his good moments, but then he has his BAD moments. Plus he suffers from “not Daddy’s favorite” syndrome. I don’t doubt that he loves Santiago, and Santiago clearly loves him, but the competition between them is about to come full force. I feel sorry for guys like Braulio. Apparently he has done his best (from what we’ve seen so far) for the company in Santiago’s absence, but in Roberto’s eyes he still doesn’t cut the mustard. Why? Roberto obviously knows something we don’t….

Diego and Andres do my heart good. I’m glad they’re in each other’s lives, and am very curious about how their relationship will play out. I believe someone mentioned it in another comment, but I’m feeling a Diego/ Amelia pairing.

Hi, Carmella. I haven't seen Laura Flores ( Martha) in a long time . Yes, What is up with her hatred for poor Santiago?. I guess Martha lost a baby . Could that baby have been Santiago's twin, and she hates him because he survived ? I am still trying to figure this show out because I did a marathon watch yesterday on Telemundo , but then I missed last night's episode due to a super busy day .

I like Jacinto ,especially because he is always in Fausto's face , but I don't like that Jacinto seems to be falling for obnoxious Consuelo.

I am confused about how Santiago got out of prison if they sent him there for killing his novia, and I don't understand who the guys helping him are.

I can't tell if Braulio is a good guy or a bad guy.

Diego and Andres are the bright spots in the show. I haven't warmed up to Nuria yet , but i am glad she found out Braulio was married and threw him out . i wonder how long it will take for Nuria and Santiago to get together now that he saved her from jumping .

Carmella, it's Consuelo. I know it seems like it's a female name and might end in an "a", but it's a girl's name ending in an "o".

I thought I saw a moment's regret on the Captain's face. Also, Jacinto specifically asked for a DNA test; and the refusal was a red flag.

ITA on what the hell is the matter with Martha regarding Santiago. She's said several times that she married Roberto when he was four and that she raised him as her own. A possible reason might be that she senses he'd be a better bet to run the company than Braulio. Braulio she adores, even though she can't help but see his flaws.

Roberto said why he prefers Santiago. There's a lot of recent thought about running a business in which the employees feel invested and part of a team can mean long-term success. I think Roberto senses that Braulio is all about Braulio. He knows how to cut deals, but he'd probably not let subordinates take credit for good decisions.

Susan, Martha's baby that her mother forced her to give up was a girl. We saw pink booties, and IIRC Aida said something about a daughter.

The ones helping Santiago are Tigre and Gerardo. Tigre is a kind of employee of Grupo Zepeda. He's been shown as a driver for both Braulio and Santiago. Gerardo is the plant manager at the factory in Juárez. They managed to contact a lawyer and get Santiago out of the grip of the zealous policeman who wanted to pin Caras murder on him because of his prison record.

Santiago's getting out of prison IS confusing. In the 1st episode they showed him saying goodbye to his friend Chema and walking out, after discovering that the crooked prison guards had kept his watch. Several episodes later he says that they released him for lack of evidence. What? The lack of evidence wasn't obvious at the time his former girlfriend and her new boyfriend were killed?

Braulio is a kind of mixed bag. He really loved Nuria. He's full of ambition to become President of Grupo Zepeda. He sorta loves Santiago but didn't visit him in prison even once in 5 years. Now he's sucking up hard to Amalia, not because he loves her, but because he wants her to buy the shares of the company, combine them with his own, and give him control of the company.

Devastated Ilgaz desperately tries to get a reaction from his father. He has to be dragged away so the EMTs can do their thing. Metin has 3 stab wounds to the abdomen. He is unconscious and his pulse is weak. He’s loaded into the ambulance.

Our guys stand around in shock. Ilgaz notices a pink backpack a few yards away. It’s Defne’s. He looks around and starts shouting—Defne! Cut to Defne bound and blindfolded in the back of a car.

Yekta and Omer show up at Selim’s house. Yekta demands to see him. They’re coming for you he tells the ex-groom, they have an arrest warrant and they’re on their way. They found something. Yekta adds, what do you think they found?

Selim is surprised and says there’s nothing. Gulcin is in the background looking worried. Yetka presses, they found something. Why else would they come for you? Tell me what happened so I can help you. Do you know about client-attorney privilege? There’s something you’re not telling me. That’s why I’m here.

Hakki grabs Selim by the shirt and pushes him against the wall. What are you plotting, you idiot?! You’re going to ruin us all! Selim looks stunned. He insists he didn’t do anything. Gulcin tries to intercede and Hakki angrily waves her away—worry about your husband! Hakki gives Selim a good shake, if you’re up to something this time, I’ll kill you.

Selim is stunned. Hakki tells his son to get out of the house. Now! Too late, there’s banging at the door. Yekta says it’s the police. We’re going to stay calm and keep quiet. Not a word will be spoken, understand? It’s weird the way Omer surveys the whole situation. He looks at Gulcin and her husband, she gets the creeps. He bids her good day and goes off to join the others.

Back to the crime scene. Ilgaz is dazed. He tells his friends, Defne… her backpack is here, but she isn’t. Dad… Dad went to pick her up from school. They were together. Pars asks Eren to find out if the tipster mentioned a child. Defne’s bag is handed over to a cop for evidence.

Ilgaz rushes to the ambulance and tries to get some answers from his unconscious dad. Dad! Where’s Defne? The EMT tries to get Ilgaz out of there so they can leave. Ilgaz persists, Defne is gone and I need your help! Ilgaz finally backs out of the ambulance and tells the EMT to notify him immediately if Metin talks about what happened.

Eren calls for an alert. We’re looking for a 9-year-old girl, Defne Kaya. Find her! The operator at the other end says they are reviewing footage now.

Ilgaz tries to gather his thoughts. I have to go to her school, maybe she’s still there.
Metin is brought to the hospital. Pars is there to give orders. He fills the hospital cops in on Metin and requests immediate backup. Watch all entrances and exits. Have officers everywhere. The person who did this will want to finish the job. They may come as a nurse or doctor. We can’t make any mistakes.

Cinar shows up at the hospital. Pars tells him they found Metin on the side of the road. He’s in surgery now. Of course, Cinar is very upset. He wants some answers. How is he? What happened? Pars replies, he was stabbed. Cinar asks if it was the same ones who planted the bomb. He doesn’t wait for an answer and shouts, it was them! This is your fault!

Pars tells Cinar to calm down. I called you so you could be with your father. I have to go to the station, you need to stay calm. Cinar asks for Ilgaz. Why isn’t he here? Pars blurts out, Defne’s missing and your brother is looking for her. Do you get it? Stay here. Pars takes off.

 

secrets #98 part 2

Pars calls Ridvan and tells him to seal all the records. This can’t get out. Let Derya know what’s going on. Tell her to come to the hospital. If Metin wakes up, everything he says will be important.

Ilgaz arrives at Defne’s school and speaks with a guard. Metin was there and picked up Defne. Ilgaz asks if they walked or took a car. The guard says they got on a dolmuş (shared taxi). They were alone, there was no one else with them. Ceylin asks, did you see anyone suspicious? No. Eren looks at a camera and asks if they can review footage.

Two menacing men are demanding to see a DA, (not sure which DA). Ozge tells them the DA will see them when he’s available. One angrily replies, you said that yesterday. He gives Ozge a slight push aside to get to the door. Ridvan comes running down the hall—what’s going on? The angry man asks, who are you? Get out of my way! And he gives Ridvan a bigger push.

Ozge speaks up. You think we’re cowards because we’re polite? That’s enough! Get back! She tells them, the prosecutor will say, “when I write the indictment, it’ll be uploaded. If you don’t leave now, you’ll make matters worse. I’ll call Security. She calls out, Security! One man says to the other, let’s go, we’re making it worse. They walk. One says, if she weren’t a woman, I’d be giving someone a lesson.

Is Ridvan giving Ozge a turned on look? She notices. He tells her, you look so cute when you get feisty. She shoots back, if only you ever got feisty.

Derya is discussing her pregnancy over the phone with her doctor. She doesn’t know how far along she is. She took an at home test. I can come in, she says. Can we do it this weekend? I’d like to have everything done by Monday. Ridvan enters her office and gives her the rundown. Metin was stabbed and Defne is missing. Pars wants you to stay at the hospital in case Metin wakes up.

Our guys look at the schoolyard footage. Metin arrives, speaks with the guard, takes Defne. This is hard for Ilgaz to watch. Silent tears. Ceylin places her hand on his back. Eren asks to see the footage from other cameras.

Metin and Defne cross the street. Metin flags a dolmuş. Eren asks Ilgaz if they usually take one. Ilgaz replies, only if Defne is tired, they normally walk. Eren asks to switch to another camera. He spots something and asks the director to zoom in. The dolmuş is for Sariyer Hasdal. Eren calls it in and also gives the plate number. He gives an order to stop the van and driver.

Pars comes to the station. Rat-fet tells him they learned Metin boarded a dolmuş and they have the plate. Pars tells him to gather the team to meet him in the Missing Persons office.

Parla, Tugce, and Merve come to the hospital to support Cinar. He tells the girls to stay at the hospital and let him know if anything changes. He leaves to go look for Defne.
Yekta and his clients arrive at the police station. Before they enter, Selim slips Omer a flash drive and signals to be quiet. Omer scratches his neck.

Pars tells Rafet to question Hakki and he will question Selim. We need to find out if they are involved in Defne’s disappearance. Rafet tells Pars about the stomach fluid found on Selim’s shoes.

Ilcey and Eren arrive at the station. Umut says the plates were checked and the dolmuş was not registered on that route. He says they are checking another route, but haven’t heard yet. The plates could be fake.

Ilcey and Eren look at footage from the highway where Metin was dumped. They see Metin being thrown from the dolmuş. Eren asks to zoom in to see if Defne is inside. Looks like no one else is inside. Ilgaz wants that dolmuş found asap! Eren has transit authority issue a red alert.

 

secrets #98 part 3

Ilgaz asks Ceylin where she dropped off Metin. Mecidiyekoy, at the metro station. Ilgaz says to follow the bus and clear the Mecidiyekoy station. Ilgaz calls Cinar. He asks if Metin is out of surgery. Not yet. Cinar doesn’t tell him he left the hospital.

Cinar returns home where Merdan is panicking from lack of information. Cinar delivers the bad news about Metin and Defne. Grandpa is horrified. He jumps up from the couch. Cinar asks him to sit and talk. Merdan tries to push him out of the way. Cinar tries to reason with him. You can’t go. Cops are outside.

Merdan pushes past Cinar. He doesn’t care about consequences. Let them shoot me if they want! The cops at the gate stop him. Merdan is determined to go. The cop gives a warning and puts his hand on his gun… don’t take another step or you’ll be considered a fugitive and treated like one. Merdan attempts to leave again. Another cop says they are just following orders.

Cinar tries to calm the situation. He asks Merdan to come back inside to talk. Merdan shouts, I need to see my grandson! Take me to the station! He opens the door of the cop car. What are you looking at? My son is dying and my granddaughter is missing! Take me to my grandson now! Merdan gets in the car.

Ilcey and Eren watch the footage from the Mecidiyekoy station. Metin heads for the stairs and someone bumps into him. Ilgaz says to rewind and slow it down.

We get the flashback. Ceylin drops off Metin. Metin is bumped by some guy whose face we don’t see. The guy lifts Metin’s cell phone, takes the card out and throws the phone in the trash. Next, we see Metin arriving at the schoolyard. He talks to the guard. Defne is tired from PE so Metin decides to take the dolmuş. Metin realizes the dolmuş has changed the route and he asks the driver, why are you going this way? End flash.

Our guys at the station notice the dolmuş turning off the route, too. Eren says to check for cameras on that street. The IT guy says there are no cameras in that area. Ilgaz shouts for the name of that street. He leaves the room and Ceylin follows. Everything is a blur to Ilgaz when looks around. He calls out, is Selim here yet?

You didn’t kill Ferda, you didn’t stab Metin, and you didn’t kidnap Defne, Pars says. That’s what I’m saying, Selim answers, I had nothing to do with it. Pars asks, so why did we find traces of Ferda’s vomit on your shoes? I don’t know, Selim replies, maybe I stepped in it. Sure, Pars says, it was on the shoe itself, not on the sole.

Pars slaps the table. I’ll make your life hell. If you had anything to do with Metin’s stabbing and Defne’s kidnapping, I’ll make your life hell. Selim looks scared. Yekta labels that as a threat.

Ilgaz bursts into the interrogation room, pulls Selim out of his seat and pins him against the wall. Where’s my sister?! Where’s Defne?! Everyone tries to pull Ilgaz off Selim. Yekta says, stop this, this is illegal! Selim claims he doesn’t know. They finally separate Ilgaz from Selim. Pars tells Eren to take Selim to holding.

Yekta scolds Ilgaz, that was wrong, DA. Ilgaz goes after Yekta, I’ll show you what’s wrong… He has to be held back [that’s too bad]. Yekta cries out, he’s trying to kill me! Ceylin shouts at him to shut up and leave! Why should I, Yekta replies, because your soon to be ex wants me to? Pars steps in, as AG, I order you to leave!

Pars asks Ilgaz to calm down. How can I, he replies. My sister is missing, and my father is dying. It’s easy to say but put yourself in my position. Look me in the face… would you be calm? No! We don’t know how Defne is or what she’s doing. My father is dying, and I can’t even be by his side. Don’t ask me to calm down. Ilgaz takes it out on a chair on his way out of the room.

Ilgaz sits on a bench outside and thinks of Defne. Ceylin comes to sit next to Ilgaz and puts her hand on his. We’ll find her, she tells him, I promise. Ilgaz needs a hug and Ceylin gives it.

Eren and Pars talk. Pars notes that Ilgaz isn’t well. We have to support him. He’s capable of anything now that he’s being tested. He won’t consider the consequences. I risked myself for my sister, but she died. We can’t leave his side now, let’s keep a close eye.

Pars asks about the surveillance footage. Eren tells him about the dolmuş that changed route. We know the name of the street and there are no cameras there. We are going to investigate. Ilcey return and Eren asks Ilgaz if he’d like to go with him.

Cops bring Merdan into the station. He’s accompanied by Cinar. Ilgaz asks Cinar why he isn’t with their father. He asks why Merdan is there. Merdan replies, I have something to tell you. The officers brought me here, I didn’t run away. He asks to speak with Ilgaz alone. Ilgaz asks Pars if that’s okay. Pars says he’s going to touch base with Rafet, he’s questioning Hakki.

Tell me what I need to know, Merdan asks. You’re not getting involved, Ilgaz replies. The police and I will handle this legally. Merdan answers, Defne is my granddaughter, my flesh and blood. God knows how much I love her. She’s my confidant. If anything happens to her, I’ll burn the world and kill myself. You’d kill yourself, too! We’d be devastated! Now, tell me what I need to know to find Defne. I will find her! Defne is in danger and we’re wasting time. Tell me. Ilgaz struggles with this.

Eren sits with Ceylin. She tells him Merdan Dede is here to offer his help. We both know how he intends to help. He may use illegal means. It’s possible, Eren says. What does that mean, Ceylin asks, you’re not going to stop him? What should I do, Eren asks, that is between them, and this is about Defne. Shouldn’t he help?

That’s life, Ceylin says, it makes you do what you don’t think you’ll ever do. Desperation makes a person do it. Eren answers, he hasn’t done anything yet. How do we know if he refused help? I don’t understand you. Shouldn’t he save his sister? That is what I mean, she fires back.

Ilgaz and Merdan leave the office. Ilgaz orders the cops to take Merdan home. No matter what happens, even if he’s ill, don’t let him escape. Ilgaz tells Cinar, let me know if Dad wakes up. Don’t leave his side, is that clear? He turns to Eren, let’s visit that street. Ceylin says she’s coming along.

Yekta visits Selim in holding. Tell me what happened, he whispers. Did you kidnap the DA’s sister, you idiot? How could I kidnap his sister, Selim asks, look at where I am. Drop the act, Yekta growls, who are you trying to fool? Yekta grabs Selim’s hand. If you didn’t do it, someone did it for you. You’re crazy, Selim answers, let go. Yekta tells him, maybe you lost your sanity, morality, and shame, long enough to stab the DA’s dad and kidnap his sister.

And we are out.

Thanks, again, dondi. I really appreciated your details about what was going on at the metro station. I thought I heard Eren or someone saying something about "someone" buying a phone. But it must have been about taking the sim card from the phone.

Whatever happens, poor little Defne is going to be traumatized because her family are involved in public safety and justice.

I'll be amazed if Omer isn't revealed as a really awful person. At the beginning I thought he would be there to get even with Yekta but looks like he's just making Yekta accomplish more. I hope they let us know what's on that flash drive tonight!

Pars thinks fast, getting cops to the hospital so the usual TN stereotype of the villain putting on hospital scrubs and a face mask to do in the patient who knows too much.

Hmmm. Did Selim give Omer that flash drive because he happened to be there or because he thinks he's a better lawyer than Yekta?

Merdan did the right thing by getting into the cop car. Of course, if he'd been anybody else's father/grandfather than who he is, it probably would have gone differently. I have a feeling Ilgaz went along with Merdan's plan.

Novelera, thanks so much for answering my questions. I am being drawn into this show . I have seen the young actor playing Andres in several shows, and he gets better and better.

William seems a little sleepy , but Jacinto and Diego have plenty of spark to hold my interest.

The actress playing Amelia was so evil in " El Camino es Amarte" on Univision.

Kudos to Pars for keeping it together on the job and with Derya and for Ilgaz.

I want to see how Omer behaves when no one's around.

I'm wondering if the bride's murder was a crime of passion or cold and calculated. Stabbing Metin in the stomach three times and kidnapping Defne guarantees high news coverage. So how could the DA's office fudge an investigation even if it wanted to?

Well, it looks like the prediction that Andrés might be adopted by Amalia could take place. Amalia did come to an event that I think was in Mexico City. They did say that the children would fly from Aguascalientes for this event. Like all locales in telenovelas, sometimes it's hard to figure out where they are. Of course, when in Mexico City they love to show the Angel of Independence, a monument built in 1910.

Braulio made an attempt to get Amalia back by saying he'd be OK with adopting a child. Amalia rejected this and said she'd go forward with the divorce. But, if she wants Andrés, or another child badly enough, who knows? I'm rooting for Amalia and Diego to somehow find each other

So, Jacinto stole some kind of paper from Crooked Captain. Didn't make a lot of sense. I think it was that there was no DNA evidence, but who would they have matched it to? I would assume that whoever the child was traveling with would have been a blood relative. And that Fausto decided to say it was Andrés. Why didn't Jacinto speak up before the very sad burial, with Nuria wailing at the top of her lungs?

As I predicted, Consuelo is shown over and over riddled with guilt but never saying anything. Of course she now believes Andrés died because Fausto said so. Oh, right, she knows how honest Fausto is and swallowed the tale. IIRC last night he said something about Consuelo's hands having blood on them. Too stupid to live.

Yes, Susan, looks like Telemundo broke a major rule: the male protagonist has sex with someone other than the female protagonist. Of course, in years past the guy might be convinced he had sex with the "other woman" because he'd been drugged and woke up with her in his bed. That was a pretty steamy scene with Santiago and Liana, including a bra removal. I don't think it's possible they didn't "do the deed" considering what we saw.

it sounded like Diego and Celia never got married, I think she said he never gave her a ring, it was just about her being pregnant.

it looked like Amelia moved out, she took her suitcase anyway, even though Braulio offered to move to the guest room. I got the idea the party at the foundation was a trial run to see if they would open a branch in Aguascalientes.

I was kind shocked by that hot steamy sex scene, lol. Santi was really into it as far as the scene goes, and then he tells Lianna to not make too much of it. Oh well Lianna! That was just 5 yrs of pent up sex deprived libido for Santi…… at least he’s honest, lol.

So Braulio has never seen Andres? I can’t recall, but I’m leaning towards “not.” How else would he and Amelia adopt him. I love, too, how Andres took to Amelia. Such a sweet, loving boy thanks to Nuria. I’m definitely rooting for Amelia and Diego to hook up! But that will be very hard for all involved once Nuria gets Andres back.

Chelo is truly a dumb chick. I thought I’d die laughing when Fausto said that she’s lucky that she has him to love her! He’s gonna gaslight the poor girl for a long time to come! And she deserves it!

Martha surprised me too. She really does care for Santi—— enough to hide evidence that she believes will incriminate him. Maybe she’s not so bad after all…….

Ilcey, Eren and a team of cops drive to the spot where Ceylin dropped Metin. Ilgaz directs them to split up and search apartments and stores. If there are cameras, ask for video.

Rat-fet, who’s been questioning Hakki, updates Pars. It’s the same story as before—bride disappeared and later was found dead. Pars asks, did you pressure him about the kidnapping? Yes, of course, Rafet replies, he said he wouldn’t do something so heinous [what he really said in Spanish and Turkish is: you can’t urinate on the wall of a mosque].

Pars says whoever killed Ferda is directly linked to Defne’s kidnapping. Is there anyone else we can question? Rafet mentions CnC aka Fake Cetin aka Nizam, and gives Pars the rundown on his scams, including Aylin.

Pars says this sounds like a morning TV show. He wants to know why Nizam hasn’t been sent to the judge yet. Rafet replies that DA Ilgaz asked for further investigation. And did you, Pars asks. Rafet says someone probably did. Pars blows up and tells Rafet to look into it and take him to the judge. It’s amazing to me how the Rat thinks he’s unfairly treated. After Pars leaves he mumbles, you can all rot in hell.

Pars calls Derya for a Metin update. He’s still in surgery. He tells Derya not to overexert herself. [I feel so sorry for Pars.]

Yekta asks for Omer’s opinion. I bet you know more than I do right now. Omer says he only knows what he’s been told and that’s the same as Yekta. [when will we see what’s on that flash drive?] But he adds, I doubt that they were involved. I don’t know, it’s just a thought. I don’t think it’s any of our business… unless you’re upset about Metin and Defne.

Yekta says this isn’t about being upset. I don’t like being caught in the crossfire and I don’t like having a target on my back. This wouldn’t be an issue if we were watching this unfold [on TV]. We are in the front row. If there’s a fire in the theater, we’ll burn.

Rafet takes a statement from Nizam. First, Rafet goes over his scams and how he got away with them. Rafet takes another look at Nizam’s file. Mashallah! You’re married and you have 3 kids. And you’re from Antep.

Nizam doesn’t appreciate the reminder. Rafet asks, were you raising money by saying your son was sick? Nizam says his son was actually sick, but then he got better, thank God. Rafet asks are you playing me? Don’t annoy me or I’ll nail you to that wall [would like to see that].

Ilcey continues searching. She gets a call from [certified idiot] Aylin, who wants to know what happened with Cetin. Ceylin gets annoyed at her sister’s stupid call and snaps. I can’t worry about Cetin now. Metin was stabbed and Defne was kidnapped. We’re looking for her. She hangs up. Aylin brings the shocking news back to Gul and Osman. Let’s all go to the hospital!

Cinar and Merdan return home. Merdan asks for Cinar’s phone and makes a call. Find Zulkuf, the dürüm (lavash bread wrap) seller. Have him come to my house, like the old days. Cinar will meet with him. Cinar asks, who is Zulkuf? The dürüm seller, Merdan replies, he’s very good. The meat is light and he’s fast with the delivery.

Cinar questions Grandpa--things are falling apart and you’re thinking of dürüm? Merdan explains, Zulkuf is a dürüm seller, but he only takes special requests from special clients. Merdan points to himself and continues, he understands the relationship between the dürüm and the client’s satisfaction. Merdan moves in close and whispers, documents, weapons, bombs. He knows who knows who. A friend or a foe. The world’s black box. I’m sure he has something to tell me.

 

secrets #99 part 2

Why are you having him over, Cinar asks, cops are outside, isn’t it dangerous? Merdan replies, the people who put a bomb in a DA’s car, who stab his father, and who kidnap his sister are risking it all. If a wolf walks freely through the house and warms itself with our fire, he’s ready to devour us. Wait here so they don’t stop Zulkuf when he arrives.

Ceylin found a camera on a store that has video of the street. They were spotted. By the look on her face, the footage is upsetting. It is. We clearly see Defne being held by someone while she struggles and bangs on the window. I couldn’t tell if Metin was struggling with another person in the background.

Ilcey leave the store. He’s trying to hold it together. She’s figuring out if she should reach out to him. Eren says he’s taking the recording to the station. They can use facial recognition to try for identification. Ilgaz wants to search all streets leading to the highway. Defne wasn’t on the dolmuş, so that means they left her in another place.

Umut calls Eren. The dolmuş was found in Belgrade Forest. Ilgaz asks about the driver. No driver. Eren asks, do we go or do we send a team? Ilgaz says take the bus to Forensics and then he will go to the station to review the footage.

Ilcey get in her car. He’s in shock and she needs to remind him to buckle his seatbelt. He asks for water. There’s a bottle she already drank from. He doesn’t care. Did you see how scared she looked, Ilgaz asks, how could I fail to protect my sister? This is my fault. Allah benim belamı versin - May God punish me.

Ilgaz fights back tears. If they hurt her, I’ll never forgive myself. I wonder if she saw Dad in that state. If she saw him being stabbed. Ceylin puts hand on Ilgaz and assures him that they will find Defne and she will be fine.

Zulkuf shows up and Cinar runs out to meet him. My grandfather had a sudden craving for dürüm, he explains to the cops. If you are hungry, I can get some for you, too. Cinar searches his pockets for money to pay… oops… Zulkuf will have to come into the house.

Merdan opens the door. Zulkuf holds out a bag—I have your order. He enters the house and closes the door in Cinar’s face. [love it.] Cinar is ticked, he sits on the stairs. Damn your order and Zulkuf, Grandpa.

Rafet brings Pars the info on Nizam and says, he can’t be charged, no crime was committed. [I’m not sure why but I guess that’s because the victims dropped the charges.] Pars asks, has he been violent? Has he been reported? Rafet says there’s no history of violence. He only goes after money. Pars says to run him through the system and find out if he’s ever been tried or sentenced.

Zulkuf emerges from the house and marches straight outside without even looking in Cinar’s direction. Of course, Cinar is dying to know what happened. What did he say? Merdan shrugs, he said we need to wait. He’s going to look into it. He’ll tell you if he hears anything. You’re my eyes and ears, I can’t go out. The cops won’t leave the door. Go to the hospital and stay with your father. Don’t trust anyone, they might want to finish the job. Zulkuf will find you wherever you are.

Forensics examine the dolmuş. Ilgaz and Eren show up to take a look. A blood spatter is being analyzed. Ilgaz finds Defne’s scarf under a seat. He reaches for it but Goksu reminds him it’s evidence.

Vigil at the hospital. A doctor comes through the doors and asks for relatives of Metin Kaya. We get the typical TN/dizi doctor speech. Surgery is over, he’s in the ICU. The next 48 hours are critical. He lost a lot of blood and many organs were compromised. We will do everything we can. Cinar asks if he can see his dad. Not yet. Everyone’s upset. Cinar cries. The girls encourage him to stay positive.

Zulkuf shows up at the hospital with a dürüm delivery for Cinar. He holds the bag out to Cinar—your order, and he leaves. Tugce can’t believe Cinar ordered food. Cinar moves away and unwraps the wrap and reveals a gambling chip. He pockets the chip and hurries out of the hospital. The girls follow.

Cinar yells at the girls to stop following him. They are curious and they insist to know what’s going on. You grabbed the food and left with whatever that was, Tugce says. Cinar shouts, I’m looking for Defne! I’m looking for my sister! He gave me something that has to do with her. Stop bothering me! Please stay here and don’t tell anyone about this. Call me if anything happens. I’ll tell you later. He takes off.

Ceylin comes to see Pars. He asks about Ilgaz. He’s not well, Ceylin replies, he’s trying to cope. He’s barely keeping it together. It’s all he can do to find his sister. We don’t have many options either, Pars answers, this isn’t good. We have to help Ilgaz. We have to support him.

Pars says he’s been going over Selim and Hakki’s bank accounts. There are no large transactions. But some deposits are duplicates. Both father and son work as security guards, but they have saved up a lot of money. Pars intends to ask about this.

Ilgaz and Eren return to the station. Pars asks about the dolmuş. Nope, still examining. They start going over Selim’s statement. Selim said he stepped in Ferda’s vomit. That he didn’t do it. He had nothing to do with the kidnapping or the attack. He claims he was home.

Ceylin asks, what about the father? Pars says he’s sticking to his story. Didn’t see anything, doesn’t know anything. And Nizam turned out to be a big conman. He takes advantage of women and rips them off. Sometime a little, sometimes a lot. He says, I hope Aylin didn’t lose anything. Ceylin closes her eyes and sighs.

Ilgaz wants to question Selim again. Pars thinks he should with him.

Merdan turns the chip over in his fingers then gives it back to Cinar. Give it to Ceylin, he says, she’ll know what to do. Why Ceylin, Cinar asks. I’ll give it to Ilgaz. Merdan says to give it to Ceylin because we have attorney-client privilege. Ceylin will give it to Ilgaz. Do what I ask and don’t get involved. Don’t put Ilgaz in a compromising position. We can’t be the source. Merdan warns Cinar not to stray from the plan. If he finds out, he won’t let Cinar leave the house.

Ilgaz doesn’t want Pars in on the interrogation, but he has no choice. Pars shoves the bank statement under Selim’s nose. He asks, where did this money come from? I work hard, Selim answers. Pars calls BS. Selim says there are a lot of rich people where he works, and they tip well. He banks it all. Omer pipes up, that makes sense, given your penchant for gambling.

Pars asks, what kind of work do you do? You own the house you live in. You bought it 5 years ago. You own a car. There are two other people living with you. You have 878,000 TL in the bank (31,327 USD), and a 1,500 sq ft lot in Izmit. You can afford that with your tips? Yes.

Ilgaz calls Selim a liar. Where did that money come from? Yekta interjects, how do you know? Ilgaz snaps back, I know! You were involved in Ferda’s murder, and you helped dump her body. You know about my sister’s kidnapping and my father’s stabbing. And you know about the bomb placed in my car. You can deny it but I’ll reveal the truth! Ilgaz leaves the room. Selim sure looks guilty. He’s clearly hiding something.

Ilgaz asks Umut for Selim’s phone records. Anil comes to the station. The necklace belonged to Ferda, and we know why Cetin and Sunat’s prints were on it. Selim’s prints got on it when he put it on Ferda. But we also found prints belonging to Yakup Shaldiran. The best man? Ilgaz wants Yakup brought in immediately.

Cinar shows up at the station and Ilgaz sees him go to Ceylin. Cinar gives her the chip. It’s a link to the people who did this to us. But you found it and you’re going to give it to Ilgaz as a lawyer. Ilgaz enters the office and asks Cinar, how’s Dad? Out of surgery and in the ICU. Why didn’t you call, Ilgaz asks. He can’t speak to anyone, Cinar replies, he’s still unconscious.

Ceylin interrupts, can you talk about this later? I have something to say. She holds up the chip. As Merdan Kaya’s lawyer, I’d like to enter this evidence into the file. Ilgaz takes the chip.

Ilgaz walks Cinar out of the station. He’s angry and asks Cinar, does no one understand what I say? Why are you interfering? Grandpa and I have a deal. Why do you put yourself in danger? What was I supposed to do, Cinar asks, wait around like an idiot? [if the shoe fits.] We know what happens when you take over.

Ceylin watches them from the window. Ilgaz continues, Dad is in the hospital. Defne is missing. You’re looking to make a name for yourself. [Turkish] I’ve already cut myself enough, and I’ll continue to cut myself. You should be looking after Dad, but you’re trying to be a hero. Cinar replies, he’s my Dad, too. Defne is my sister, too. Forget everyone else, I won’t stop now. Cinar walks away. Ilgaz gets in a cop’s car and they leave.

Eren comes back to the office and asks, where is Ilgaz? He left, Ceylin replies. Cinar found something that could be a clue. He probably went after the evidence. Eren asks, what did Cinar find? Ceylin doesn’t answer. She’s upset. Eren can see she’s mad. He asks why. Isn’t it obvious, she answers. Merdan came in and he spoke with Ilgaz in private. They argued for a while and Merdan had an idea. He had Cinar talk to Ilgaz and now Ilgaz is gone.

You’re right, Eren says. But you saw Chief Metin. Defne can’t be found. We’re scared something will happen to her. We need every piece of evidence. Can’t you see? Of course, Ceylin replies, but didn’t I go through something similar? Aren’t I going through the same thing now? I’m worried too. Worried about Defne. I’d do anything to save her… but the problem is DA Ilgaz’s unbreakable judgments. [and that stick buried somewhere in his body.]

Ceylin continues, I felt miserable, too. I chased after any evidence that would give me hope. What was I met with then? Ilgaz’s honesty and penchant for following protocol. What’s he doing now? Chasing after a piece of evidence he obtained illegally. So when your own blood is involved, nothing else matters?

I don’t have an answer, Eren says, but people will only understand pain when they go through the same. Now that he can understand your pain, you should talk to him about that, not your resentment. Maybe then… She interrupts, maybe I’ll feel better. Yeah, sure. She wipes away tears. Anyway, I hope he finds Defne soon, I don’t care how. That’s all I want.

Ilgaz goes to Ferda’s house. Ismet answers the door. Ilgaz asks him, where did you gamble? Ismet replies, I told you… at the café. Don’t lie, Ilgaz shouts. Arif comes to the door. Who’s that yelling? Ilgaz asks again, where did you gamble? Ismet swears it was at the café. Ilgaz shows him the chip. This is a link to whoever killed Ferda. Did you gamble at the casino this chip belongs to?

Arif looks at Ismet. Your mother is so heartbroken she’s bedridden. If you know something, don’t keep it to yourself. Whoever hurt Ferda needs to be punished. We’re responsible for this and this is our sin to bear. Don’t keep silent.

And we are out.

A lot of my own questions were answered last night. First, no, Braulio has never met Andres and he’s really going all out——far out—- in order to convince Amelia that he’s totally on board with this adoption thing. She’s really beginning—— if not already—— swayed. She even allowed him to throw some kisses in there! Not yet Amelia! Please don’t give in yet! Meet Diego first!

Speaking of Diego, his ex is a trip for sure! Women like her seem to see green only, and tend to use their children as leverage. I want to give her the benefit of the doubt, and since we don’t know what’s really happened between her and Diego over time, I can’t be that mad at her. Her presentation is not a good look though, and Diego is a genuinely good person…..

For a moment there, I thought Martha couldn’t be all bad, but then she attacked poor Aida about having a thing for Roberto, and rubbed in the fact that Roberto chose her and not Aida. But then, a couple of breaths later, she cries and tells Aida that she didn’t mean it, and that Aida’s been her best friend yada, yada, yada….what misunderstanding is on that phone???? And why has she been so reluctant about telling Roberto about a child she gave up for adoption? Doesn’t make sense.

Seems Chelo is starting to revert to form and finding a backbone where Fausto is concerned? Let’s see how long that lasts, but I do hope she gives him a run for his money. He’s such a lowlife….

Braulio and Lianna??? Hmmmmm……..Seems Santi and Braulio go for the same kind of women? And speaking of Santi, I really, really, really hate his hair! He needs a post prison buzz cut or something……

I think the phone retrieved from the car of Santiago by ?? at the time of the murders, has some messages to someone from the competition where Santi is offering money for info on sales strategies, of course Braulio has seen it and is advising Martha, who gives the phone to Aida to get rid of.

Fausto said something to the Captain the other day about when he returns to the force and the Captain will be taking orders from him??? Also, it doesn’t seem like Fausto is the least bit afraid of the guy that he owes money to. He is even going to give him a good amount of interest, so he obviously has something up his sleeve…..

So was Rosendo the guy giving Santi the side eye at the clothing store? He seemed to be tickled pink about who Santi really is, and how they’re going to keep his identity undercover. I’m still way confused about how Santi was set up and that darn phone! It was a series of texts, right, that has Martha thinking Santi is at fault? But anybody can get a hold of a phone and send texts, especially if they were setting Santi up. Plus, was it Santi’s phone? Cause he doesn’t appear to be the least bit concerned about a phone he had 5 yrs ago that could incriminate him. Like I said, I’m confused, and a little bit lost, so I hope a few things become crystal clear soon………
