vuelve, secrets, telemundo

Just a heads-up about the new novela, Vuelve a Mí, that will start THIS MONDAY. It will open with a two-hour episode (9-11 PM), so on Monday there will be no episode of Secretos de Sangre. However, on Tuesday, Secretos will return at the 10 PM time slot, and Vuelve a Mí will occupy the 9-10 hour.

I suspect that William Levy fans already know that he will be starring in Vuelve a Mí, but I thought I'd mention it just in case. Among those joining Levy in the novela are Samadhi Zendejas, Geraldine Galván, Kimberly Dos Ramos, Ferdinando Valencia, Ximena Herrera, Rodolfo Salas and Laura Flores

OT/Vuelve a Mí

Thanks for starting this discussion, Juanita.

The only plot I could find for Vuelve a mí is this one by Forbes: "The drama, set in Ciudad de Juárez and Ciudad de México, follows Nuria, a woman of humble means, who begins a relationship with Braulio (Ferdinando Valencia) without knowing he is one of the owners of the company where she works to support her son and sister. The lives of the main characters begin to intertwine after the tragic kidnapping of Nuria's son Andrés. And when she least expects it, Santiago (Levy) enters her life to become the great love of her life and the pillar that keeps her hope alive."

I'm definitely interested. Although I won't be able to recap - at least not until Minas de Pasión, the La Patrona remake, ends on Univisión - I'm recapping 3-4 times a week for that one.

I remember Samadhi Zendejas as Circe, the annoying, Diego-obsessed gal in Falsa Identidad. It'll be fun to see her as a prota. Plus it'll be my first novela with William Leny - I know I know, I should have watched one sooner :)

I'm excited to read the recaps ;)

vuelve

Thanks for the info, Juanita. I know there's not that much excitment for William Levy on our patio. I will take a look at it. I can't commit to recapping, I might want to take a break after Secretos is done.

Secrets #92 part 1

Quote for Turkish ep #51: "I don't know how to love less, and it's because I love you so much, I won’t get hurt.” - Didem Madak

Derya is terrified she might have another miscarriage. She couldn’t stand it.

Ilgaz and Eren time the ride back from the cliff—17 minutes. Eren rounds it up to 20. It’s not a short trip. Someone must have seen her before she went missing.

The manager, Rahmi, rushes out to meet our guys. He lets them know all the cameras are repaired and working. He mentions the officers inside and says, we are helping as much as we can.

We see some of the thorough work forensics is doing. Ilgaz asks Goksu if there’s anything yet. No, still looking.

Eren is already talking to the makeup artist who worked with Ferda that day. Ilgaz walks over. I did her makeup, she says, so hearing about this feels strange. We were together about 2 hours. Ilgaz asks, did you notice anything that stood out? She was very sad, the woman notes, I’ve never seen such a sad looking bride. She had bruises everywhere. Her neck… her chin…

We see a flashback. The woman tells Ferda if she keeps crying, she will have to redo the makeup. This is supposed to be the happiest day of your life. Smile. Ferda looks at her phone. There are a lot of texts: answer your phone. I will come pick you up. Are you available? Ferda? You will come with me, won't you? I can’t do without you anymore. Ferda shuts her phone. End flash.

I covered the bruises with layers of concealer, the woman says, she was in bad shape. Ilgaz: did she tell you who hurt her? I didn’t ask, the woman replies, I couldn’t ask. She wouldn’t stop crying and didn’t say much. Eren: while you were together, did she argue with anyone? No.

Ilgaz: did her father or brother enter the room? I don’t even know who the brother is, she answers. Ilgaz: do you know if anyone else entered the room? Her mother and aunt. Eren: what about the groom. He didn’t enter, she says, no men entered while I was there. Ilgaz: when did you finish with her? Around 5p. I remember because I had another wedding.

The questioning is done. The woman hopes they find the killer. We are sick of hearing about women being killed. [ITA]

Eren thinks Ismail told the truth and the makeup artist confirmed it. Ferda’s father and brother beat her. Ilgaz says, let’s find out if one or both were involved.

Ceylin encourages Derya. Don’t think that way. Going through something terrible once doesn’t mean it will happen again. You should see this as a chance. I don’t just mean the baby. This is a chance for you to heal, for you to become a new Derya. Think like that so you won’t be held back by the past.

Derya replies, I don’t want to be haunted by the past, but what if this is no different? What if I lose my baby? What if I lose Pars? [uh, oh.] I wouldn’t be able to take it. I’m so tired. Ceylin says she understands. She knows Derya is scared. I understand you experienced a great loss. It’s normal for your mind and heart to be on guard. Part of you is trying to keep from getting hurt. But nothing is going to happen to Pars [uh, oh again]. Nothing’s going to happen to anyone. [3x uh, oh]

Ceylin continues, you’re also different, Derya. People change and you have, too. You’re stronger and braver now. And I’ll always be by your side. No matter what, I promise to be there whenever you’re scared. But promise me… I won’t tell anyone about the pregnancy, promise me you’ll think it over. This child is also Pars’. Think of him before you decide, okay? Think well, take time. Then no matter what, I’ll be by your side. Teary Derya says thank you.

secrets #92 part 2

Ceylin tells Derya she has to go. Derya leaves. Ceylin’s phone rings. It’s Tolga. He couldn’t get the footage she asked for (regarding her mediation case). They wouldn’t agree to hand it over. Ceylin tells him to go to the station, she’ll handle it. Ilgaz had the bride’s fam come in for questioning.

Ilgaz and Eren question the waitstaff. [There are several of them. I won’t distinguish between them.] From what I could tell, parents of the bride and groom were always present. They were constantly asking me to look after the guests. Eren: are you sure they never left? I saw them by the door, welcoming guests. I didn’t see the mother or aunt.

Ilgaz: what about the bride’s brother? He and his friends were always coming and going. I think they were drinking. We found several empty bottles. Ilgaz: what about the groom and his friends? I saw them there (he points). There was a crowd of around 7 people. They asked for glasses, that’s how I know. They also did a lot of drinking.

Ilgaz: do you know if anyone left the venue for 20 minutes? The staff talk among themselves. It’s hard to say… Can’t remember… we were always busy. Eren: when did you take the cherry juice to the bride’s room? The mother made the request in the afternoon. I delivered it.

We see the flashback. The bride’s mom asks the waiter for the cherry juice on the table. Bring it so I can give it to the bride. Get a big, unopened bottle. We like to share it. The waiter leaves. The mom looks a bit troubled. End flash.

So, I got her an unopened bottle of juice. Ilgaz: did you see her drink it? I assume so, since she entered the room. Ilgaz says to have the waiters sign off on their statements at the station.

Merve unrolls her plan for updating the pool hall. Tugce and Parla are there, too. She makes her pitch to Cinar—color, motifs, drawings on the wall. A few plans to choose from. We see that lurker sitting and watching them, eating those damn seeds [does he eat anything else?].

Cinar thinks it’s a risky move. He doesn’t want to lose the current clientele. It’s a good design, he says, but I think it will fail. It’s nice for young people like us, but look around. We’re underground. No young person will want to come here. Parla supports Merve’s ideas. She says she’d spend time here.

Tugce pipes up, sure you would Parla, you’re his girlfriend and you get everything for free. You have his full attention and care. What are you talking about, coy Parla answers. Girlfriend? Cinar goes over to Parla and stage whispers, she’s jealous of us. He puts his arm around Parla and addresses Tugce—you’re jealous of us! Tugce and all of viewerville roll their eyes at Cinar.

Cinar tells Tugce she should work on herself. She snaps back, thanks, but I’m happy as I am. In fact, the reason for my happiness is obvious—single and happy. Period. [I love Tugce.] She tells Merve to pack up. They [the two idiots, Cinar and Parla] want to stay in this dive. The lurker picks his seeds up off the table, puts them in his pocket and leaves.

Ceylin goes to the Kaya house to talk to Metin.

I guess Cinar and Merve have come to a compromise outside the pool hall. He tells her she can find replacements for the tablecloths and a warm color paint for the walls. Tugce’s still a little miffed. She snarks at Cinar, are you trying to be a dark prince with boyish good looks a la Merdan Dede? Will you bring this place from tradition into the future?

The convo is interrupted by Merdan’s men dragging someone into the pool hall. The guy is struggling against them. Please stop, don’t do this! I’ll work for you, don’t hit me! Cinar tells the girls they should go. Parla is worried and asks what will happen to that man. Cinar says he’ll tell her later… go now.

secrets #92 part 3

Cinar asks the men, do you bring people here without consulting me? One explains, Merdan used to help the poor in all of these neighborhoods. But that bastard… he was stealing! What should we do? Cinar answers, how should I know? The other man asks, if you don’t have the answer, who does? The captive asks to be let go.

Ceylin needs another favor from Metin. She mentions her mediation case. The venue won’t give us the footage from where the fight took place. I was hoping you could get it. Metin will do it. Let’s make this official, Ceylin says, so I can stop asking you for favors. You’re unemployed but want to work. Maybe you should make a wage. I’d love to work with you.

Metin smiles and laughs, I’d love to work with you, too, but you don’t have to pay me. Ceylin won’t hear of it. She must compensate him for his work. He agrees if it will make her feel better. She asks, how should I address you? Chief? Metin Bey? Metin Bey is fine, he replies. Ceylin walks away and Metin calls out to her. Is there something else you wanted to say? No, she answers, nothing. Ceylin’s demeanor says otherwise.

Eren and Ilgaz leave the venue in the hands of Goksu. She says whoever cleaned the place was extremely thorough. I’d have them clean my house. Ilgaz wants Eren to speak with the cleaner. Rahmi comes out and Ilgaz asks why the cleaner wasn’t there today. Rahmi says Nur Hanım wasn’t scheduled to work this afternoon. Eren asks for her number or address.

A van arrives at the venue. A nervous looking guy gets out. He has a bandaged hand. Ilgaz stares at him. Ilgaz asks if the bride’s family is at the station. Yes. He tells Eren to call the cleaner.

The guy with the van looks increasingly nervous and Ilgaz doesn’t take his eye off him. Ilgaz thinks about the tire tracks and connects them to the van. Eren looks at the van and the guy, too. A potential suspect. The guy sees them looking and he quickly gets in the van. Ilgaz tries to stop him from leaving with no luck. Eren and Ilgaz hop in their car and chase him along with a cop car. They drive on a dirt road.

Eren manages to cut the guy off. He jumps out of the car and starts running through the woods. He’s eventually caught. I didn’t do anything, the man says. Eren cuffs him.

Ridvan enters Pars’ office and says, I was notified about the line. What line, preoccupied Pars asks, metro bus? Rail? Ferry? Ridvan says it’s the phone line used to call Ceylin. It was a burner phone. As expected, Pars replies, check the number and see if it was used with another line. Ridvan says he did that and it wasn’t. Pars says he’s signed and sealed everything on his desk. Take care of the rest. I’m going to the station.

Ceylin and Tolga meet Ferda’s family at the station. They are concerned about being called back in. Arif says, we named the culprit and you let Ismail go. Izmet (the brother) saw him. Izmet says, he was wandering around. The mom (Izram) cries. Tolga says if Ismail was let go, then DA Ilgaz knows something.

Izmet shouts, what does he know? His parents tell him to calm down. Izmet insists, that bastard was at the venue! Do the DA and Komiser know that? Why was he released?! Ratfet happens to be nearby and wanders over to stir trouble. Don’t you have an office, counselor? Are meetings with clients held here? Should I get you coffee or tea? Meet in my office instead?

secrets #92 part 4

Ceylin keeps her cool and tells Ratfet, we are here because DA Ilgaz wants to question them. The Rat snarks, is this a waiting room? The officers are hard at work [he left out: unlike me]. There are important documents everywhere. Why are these civilians here? You’ve turned this place into Ali Baba’s Farm (a children’s song). [I’d love for Ilgaz and Eren to walk in on this and ream this rat.]

Ceylin tells everyone, let’s go get coffee. The reporters spot them as they leave the station.

Goksu searches the van. She finds hair, possibly a woman’s hair. She also finds a wire for a bride’s braid. Ilgaz wants the van brought to forensics for a thorough examination.
Rahmi tells Ilgaz that the guy they caught was subbing for someone. He’s only been working there for 4 days. Eren finds out this guy is a fugitive. Ilgaz asks, what was the charge? Theft. You mentioned necklaces, is that what he stole? He has a long rap sheet, Eren says, kidnapping, harassment.

Ilgaz thinks this is the guy they’re looking for. Eren says, and just to steal a necklace… What Goksu found suggests she was moved in this vehicle. He was here on the night of the wedding and had the car keys. Either he killed her or helped move her.

Tolga checks to see if Ismail’s file has been uploaded so they can find out why he was released. Arif says he hopes there was a good reason to let him go. Otherwise, I won’t be able to keep her brother in check. [maybe the brother killed Ferda?] You will stay calm, Ceylin says firmly, you can’t do whatever you want.

The file is up. Tolga says Ismail was in a hotel in Sile, waiting for Ferda to run away. Damn that bastard, Arif declares, rapist! Izmet jumps up, see, I told you he was there! He was released! God only knows the lies he told! Izram starts sobbing.

Ceylin tells Tolga to skip the details, why was he released? The hotel cameras show him entering the hotel and he didn’t leave until the police came. He was there. Maybe he snuck out, Izmet insists. Don’t you have any common sense? His father gets him to calm down.

Tolga continues, he listened to music all night. There was a noise complaint and the staff confirmed that he was there. There are witnesses. Is that it, Arif asks, he didn’t do it? Izram asks, so my daughter committed suicide? Ceylin answers, as far as I know, she didn’t drown.

Izram asks, how did she die? She took pills, Ceylin replies, someone could have forced her to take them. It’s believed she was forced to consume them. Izram cries for her daughter. Ceylin says, we need to stop focusing on Ismail. Pretend he doesn’t exist. Imagine someone wanted to kill Ferda. [the brother looks more and more suspicious to me.] Did she have enemies or owe anyone money? Think about it.

Yekta is surprised and ticked to hear another lawyer is in with Haluk. And yes, surprise, it’s Omer! He got there early. Haluk tells him he should thank Omer for explaining everything very clearly. Yekta takes credit for planning it this way. He tells Haluk, one of our suspects committed this murder. And soon we will find the real killer [cut to Omer].

Haluk says, that’s not all. The surprises keep coming for Yekta. He explained what’s going on at the company. Who’s looking into my assets? Who’s having me investigated? Is it DA Ilgaz? Omer says that’s right. Haluk says he suspected that. He asks, whose idea was it to sell the business in Pendik? The house in Bodrum was appraised. Who did this? Was it my CFO? Tayfun, my general manager? Omer says that’s right, it’s Tayfun. Yekta is flummoxed.

secrets #92 part 5

I didn’t expect such a thorough report from you, Haluk says, your bad reputation had stained your name. You’ve obtained a list of suspects and sought to take care of the jackals who made the most of my absence. You have enough to deal with, Yekta replies. Document everything, Haluk asks, bring it to light. Find those who seek to destroy my assets. It’s up to you to destroy the wolves. As you wish, Yekta answers. Haluk leaves. Yekta looks at Omer and tries to process what just happened.

Pars is waiting at the station. Ilgaz, Eren and the suspect arrive. A reporter approaches. DA Ilgaz, did he kill the bride? Can you comment? Other reporters join in the questioning. The suspect is taken inside.

Pars asks Ilgaz, is that who I think it is? Yes. Is he a fugitive? Yes. Has he confessed? No. Maybe he did it, Pars says. Did you find the necklace? It’s possible he took it, Ilgaz replies, he was charged with theft. We will find out soon enough.

There’s something I have to tell you, Pars says. Ceylin received a call regarding you. The person asked for you to rule the incident a suicide and close the case. They threatened to hurt you if you continued to investigate. You should keep that in mind, but I know this isn’t the first time this has happened.

Ilgaz asks, did Ceylin receive the call while she was with me? Pars doesn’t know, he didn’t ask. Ilgaz is sure she did. She was right in front of me, he tells Pars, she was here in this office. Does that matter, Pars asks. Yes, Ilgaz replies, she didn’t tell me, but she told you. Focus on the situation, Pars says, the line was investigated and it’s a burner phone. The information suggests that it was only used once. We can’t trace it. Ceylin is worried.

Don’t tell me that, Ilgaz says, these are two average families. The killer is taunting us. I told her that, Pars replies, this isn’t the first time we’ve been threatened. I told her not to worry, but she still did. He notes the look on Ilgaz’s face and adds, that’s not a bad thing. It’s good to have people who worry about you out of love.

Ilgaz walks out of the station and calls the group of reporters over. The lurker is there watching. Ceylin, Tolga and Ferda’s family enter the station yard.

Ilgaz begins, I want to talk about a death threat I received. Someone has ordered me to close the case. Whoever it is should come forward. You know where to find me. No one, I mean no one, has the power to silence the law. We won’t permit it. That young woman did not commit suicide. She was murdered and I will find her murderer.

A reporter asks, do you have a suspect? Who do you think is trying to silence you? That’s all I have to say for now, Ilgaz responds. Thank you. Ilgaz goes back inside.

Ceylin’s group heads into the station. Pars tells Ceylin, we spoke and this is the result.
Pars asks Ilgaz if he feels better now. Don’t take things too far. Remember what you told me when I did something similar. You ended up being right in the end. Challenging them won’t change anything. Ilgaz replies, back then we were protecting a child. This is about me. Let them come for me.

Eren asks Pars, when did this happen? Pars says someone called Ceylin. They said Ilgaz would get hurt if he didn’t close the case.

Ilgaz asks to speak with Ceylin. He says, you received that call right in front of me. So you leave without saying a word and went to Pars? What’s your point, she asks. He asks why she did that. I didn’t think you would think it strange, she replies, you didn’t tell me anything when you received that note. I kept that a secret to protect you, Ilgaz answers. Well, you got back at me, he tells her. I was right there! You could’ve given me the phone, you could’ve told me!

secrets #92 part 6

Ceylin says, as a lawyer it made more sense to report it to your superior. Is that all, Ilgaz replies. Yes. Ok, what did the caller tell you, Ilgaz asks. He threatened to hurt you if you didn’t close the case. You’d be in danger. Ilgaz dismisses her… you may go. Ah, thank you for your permission, Ceylin snarks.

Yekta asks Omer, what happened in there? What did you tell him? Omer says Haluk is weak now that he is behind bars. He needs all the information he can get. And? So I told him the age-old assets being stolen story, and I made him think about it, Omer replies. Until now, Haluk has earned his wealth by taking from others. His only fear is losing his wealth. Yekta says, I know the rich man’s wealth silences the poor. Get to the point.

Ilgaz and Eren question the fugitive in the interrogation room. The man pleads, please help me. Please! Then talk, Eren says. He says, I cut myself in the kitchen. I never left the kitchen. I was getting something to eat. I cut myself when I made the food. He unwraps his hand and Eren immediately tells him to cover it again.

Ilgaz asks, if you were in the kitchen, and you have the keys, what happened? The man says the keys are always in the van. People get in and drive, it’s done that way. I didn’t do it, I swear! God help me if I did! Eren tells him, you have a ton of excuses. You have an answer for all of our questions. I don’t buy it! Start talking!

What else can I say, the fugitive answers. Yes, I was working, I cut my hand in the kitchen. Eren asks, where is the necklace? What necklace? The bride’s necklace. Did you take it? The fugitive says he doesn’t know about the necklace, he never saw the bride.

Omer tells Yekta, he’ll give you power of attorney. First, you’ll slander his company, then you’ll get your cut. Yekta is stunned. He asks Omer, how did you know what I was thinking? Omer continues, but you’re also worried about his family. There’s nothing to fear. Burak was Haluk’s only close relative. There’s no one else. Omer shows Yekta a breakdown of Haluk’s assets.

More surprises for Yekta. He smiles… unbelievable. You’re a strange and incredible young man. Joyful Yekta puts his hands on Omer, he stops before a hug and gives him a shake. Omer, you’re just like me! [and then some…]

Umut comes to the interrogation room and asks Ilgaz and Eren to step out. Umut says, we confirmed he’s telling the truth. He was in the kitchen and never left the venue. Ilgaz says to take his statement and return him to prison.

Ilgaz heads back to Eren’s office. Ceylin peeks her head in. DA Ilgaz, when are you going to question the family? He replies, their lawyer should be the one to inquire.

And we are out.

vuelve

Thanks, Weirdo, for posting the short synopsis. I didn't see that one, but I did find a similar one that I've included on Monday's Telemundo y Más page. FWIW, here it is:
"Vuelve a Mí is a romantic drama that follows Nuria, a woman of humble means, who begins a brief relationship with Braulio without knowing that he is one of the owners of the company where she works to support her son and sister. The lives of the main characters begin to intertwine after the tragic kidnapping of Andrés, Nuria's son. In this drama full of love triangles, a mother's unconditional love for her son will become the common thread that drives the story." Except for the last sentence, the two synopses are almost identical. Hmmm....

Alas, I am NOT a William Levy fan, and I won't be watching this one.

vuelve + OT

Dondi and Juanita, thanks for commenting.

A two-hour Gran Estreño? I hate when that happens. Why do all these networks do this?

I wanted to watch La Tempestad once, but I didn't have the time. Wasn't Levy in this one?

Completely OT: Has anyone seen Sin Senos No Hay Paraíso? I'm thinking of starting this one and want to see if it's worth it.

OT

Weirdo, I watched " La, Tempestad" years ago when it was recapped at caray. It was a fun ride with William .

Vuelve

William isn't my favorite , but I will give this a try . I think his acting has improved since I first saw him in " Pasion" years ago.

Secrets #92

Thank you, dondi356.

Ceylin and Ilgaz are annoying. Ceylin shouldn't have taken the case that Ilgaz was working.

secrets

Thanks, dondi, for the fine, detailed recap. We're having a rare heat wave here in No. Califas and it's hard to focus.

Ceylin made a good point to Derya. The baby is also Pars' child, so she needs to think about him.

Yes, writers, please tell us who that seed-eating jerk is.

"and all of Viewerville roll their eyes". Yep, Cinar is not exactly a replacement for his grandfather. And the relationship with Parla came out of nowhere and there's not much brain power between them.

Pars seems a bit distracted by his upcoming wedding and seemed to hardly listen to Ridvan.

That idiot Rifat toadies to Ilgaz, almost making Ilgaz sick to his stomach. And he treats Ceylin like crap, probably following Yekta's orders.

For some reason I keep expecting the "worm" to turn. I just can't swallow that Omer is the loyal son he's trying to convince Yekta he is. Yekta is eating it up with a spoon, his eyes positively glowing at what his wayward sperm produced.

They sure are making Izmet, the brother, look quite guilty. Wonder if this is a red herring. Also, the mother asked for the juice that ended up in the bride's stomach along with the pills. Is she guilty also?

secrets

Thanks for commenting, Lucio and novelera.

"Ceylin and Ilgaz are annoying. Ceylin shouldn't have taken the case that Ilgaz was working." --yes, and yes, Lucio. It's what Ceylin readily admits, she ruins everything. She's ruining Ilgaz.

Poor Derya can't think straight now, novelera. Does pregnancy brain start this early? At least Ceylin gave her good advice. I can't wait for her to tell Pars about the baby. That will be a good scene.

"That idiot Rifat toadies to Ilgaz, almost making Ilgaz sick to his stomach." It's amusing how Rat-fet turns everyone's stomach.

I'm also wondering if Omer has his own agenda in regards to his long lost dad.

Sema loves to serve us red herring salad. She's done this with every big case our group has had. Anyone could be guilty. It keeps up the interest.

Secrets #93 part 1

Cinar tells Merdan about the man brought to the pool hall. He asks, what do we do? Tell your men to take him away or it will be a big problem. Merdan replies, he committed a crime, he stole from the needy. There’s nothing I can do. If you don’t punish him now, the place will soon be filled with people who do what they want with impunity. There are a thousand ways to punish someone. You must set an example.

Maybe I should hand him over to Eren, Cinar says. If it were that simple, Merdan answers, we would’ve turned them all over and everyone would be happy. Listen, Cinar, I didn’t put you there to keep a record of things or manage the books. You’re the head of a 50 year old organization now. I don’t represent them anymore, you do.

Cinar doesn’t get it. Merdan explains, the poor will always be a part of this world. They need food and protection. No one notices it, or they ignore it. The rich and poor keep the scale balanced. But as the rich make more they become greedier. That’s where you come in. You put a stop to their greediness. If possible, you stamp it out entirely. You take from the rich and give it to the poor. So, both sides win.

If you notice someone is taking something they don't deserve, then they're destroying the system. Your job is to put an end to that. Things are changing, and you need to keep up. That's why you need to figure out what to do. Your time is now. Do you understand?

Ilgaz and Eren question Arif. Tolga is the lawyer and Ceylin is there, too. Why is she here, Ilgaz asks. Ceylin replies, to take notes, if you don’t mind. Ilgaz tells her, if she says anything, he’ll send her out. Ilgaz gets straight to it with Arif—who beat your daughter? You or your son? Arif is surprised by the question. He looks guilty and doesn’t answer.

Ilgaz asks, did you beat her because she didn’t want to get married or because she tried to run away? No answer. Ilgaz continues, why was Selim better than Ismail? Arif answers, like I said, Ismail is very poor, and Hakki Bey is a good man. He liked my daughter, and they are rich. She’s my daughter and I can do as a please with her. You should think about that while you bury her, Ilgaz replies.

Izran is questioned. Did your husband or son beat her? We don’t hear an answer.

Cut to Izmet admitting he beat Ferda. Flashback. Izmet is awakened by a noise. He finds Ferda sneaking out of the house. He drags her back up the stairs. Aunt Sultan comes out and tries to stop him. Izmet throws Ferda into her room and hits her. Arif holds back Sultan and Izran from interfering. The women finally break through and stop the beating. Izmet threatens to break Ferda’s legs. Sultan shields Ferda and begs Izmet to stop.

Later, Ferda confides in Sultan. I don’t love Selim. Sultan tells her to be quiet, your brother will hear. I barely managed to save you. Ferda begs, do something. Save me. I feel like I’m dying inside. I’ll die without Ismail. Sultan says, I’ll do whatever it takes to keep them from hurting you. They won’t make you cry anymore. My little girl… Sultan hugs her. [Sultan seems more like a mother to Ferda than Izran.] End flash.

Izmet says, I wish I hadn’t hit her. A little late for that, Ilgaz replies. Eren asks about the gun. What gun? Eren tells him they saw it in the video. Do you have a license? Ilgaz asks, why did you bring a gun to the wedding? To fire it into the air, Izmet says, my friends brought it. They gave it to me. Eren lectures, have common sense! Do you know how many people die due to stray bullets each year? Does that make you more of a man?

Secrets #93 part 2

Ilgaz says he will press charges for the gun. He asks, you were gone for 20 minutes, where did you go? Izmet swears he didn’t go anywhere. He just went to the restroom. Then he adds, I was at the door talking to some friends. Alcohol isn’t allowed at our weddings. We drank in secret at the door.

Back to Arif. He says he didn’t leave the venue. You can ask my friends. I was always with Hakki.

Izran says she was at the hall and went to check on Ferda. Eren asks about the juice.

Flashback. Izran brings the juice into the room. Sultan needs to go back to the hall for a moment. Izran pours the juice into a glass. End flash. She says Ferda had nothing to eat or drink all day. Ilgaz asks if Ferda drank the juice. Izran doesn’t know. She filled the glass but didn’t see her drink it. Then she left the room.

Eren explains that someone spiked the juice with sedatives. You need to help us find out who did it. Try to remember if anyone entered the room after you did. She doesn’t know. Ilgaz asks if anyone in the family takes antidepressants or sedatives.

Ceylin writes in her notebook and puts it where Tolga can read: how do we know she didn’t take the pills?

Izran doesn’t know about sedatives. Tolga asks the question. Ilgaz answers, no capsules were found in her stomach. Someone added the contents of the pills to the juice and gave it to her.

Omer shows Yekta the recording of Ilgaz’s talk to the press. He asks if he should investigate. I can look into the complaint, the lawyer, the suspects, the judge, the evidence, and I can get a report ready for you. I’ll also find a way to get involved as a lawyer.

You learn quick, Yekta says. You’re amazing, Omer. Do you plan to clone yourself? First, we’ll deal with Haluk. We need to provide everything to him, or he won’t give me POA to oversee his assets. That’s more important.

Omer says he can manage it all. You don’t know me well enough yet. I can watch 3 shows at the same time, in their original language, without any subtitles and summarize each for you. [Maybe Omer is an autistic savant?] Yekta smiles and says, that’s great—you can handle both cases. But be careful, he warns, don’t lose the goal.

Ilgaz is sure Ferda’s family is hiding something. Eren agrees. Ceylin asks Eren and Ilgaz, aren’t you going to ask about Cetin? Eren gets his picture, and they take it out to the family. Do you know this man? Take a good look. Arif remembers him but doesn’t know who he is. Maybe he’s from the groom’s side.

Aylin meets Selcuk out on the street. She wants to settle the money issue, or she will be in trouble. He tells her there’s no reason to panic. No one has asked about the house. Someone did, Aylin replies, Osman is unemployed, and he needs money. He wants to sell the house. I avoided the topic, but he will ask again. He wants to see the deed and I don’t have it. I need the money! Do you have it?

Selcuk says he doesn’t have the money. There is no money. What do you mean, Aylin asks in disbelief. You said you’d get it. Selcuk tells her to calm down. Do you think I’d show up without a solution? There’s no money but there’s a car. [The car he got from his other victim.] What am I going to do with this, Aylin asks, I don’t have a license. Don’t drive it, Selcuk says, if anyone asks, say you sold the house and bought a car. Cars are worth as much as houses nowadays. [is Aylin so stupid to fall for this?]

It's not my car, Aylin says, what do I say if they check the plate? Selcuk loses patience. I’m trying to help you, calm down! I came all the way here and I’m doing my best because I love you. You’ve been shouting since I got here. Stupid Aylin backs off and apologizes.

secrets #93 part 3

Selcuk complains, you asked me to get a passport and I did… then you wanted your money back. This isn’t a child’s game. He gets a phone call. It’s from Jale [is that the other victim?] Look, he says, it’s a call from Ankara. Duty calls. I have other responsibilities. I have to go. Keep calm. Be patient, I’ll call you.

Ilgaz is looking at the chart related to Ferda’s case. [I see the mother’s name is Hicran, not Izran in the translation.] Goksu comes to see Ilgaz. The hair found in the car belonged to the bride. Eren arrives with more news. The cleaning lady is in the hospital. She slipped on a wet floor and hit her head. Ilgaz says they’ll question her when she’s better.

Ilgaz notices Ceylin waiting in the parking lot. Who is she waiting for? For me, Eren replies. Why? Eren shrugs and says, she wants to talk. I’ll have tea with Ceylin when I’m done here.

Ceylin gets a call from Metin. She asks, are you here? Okay, I’m coming. Ilgaz watches her walk away.

Parla arrives home with Tugce. There’s an urgent knock at the door. Parla answers. A man from the gas company says there’s a gas leak in the neighborhood. Please shut the valves. Hurry. Parla shuts the door and runs. Tugce thinks it’s not an emergency, there’s no gas smell.

Metin shows Ceylin the video. The manager is harassing the player’s wife. When Aydin found out, of course he wanted to beat him. Ceylin wonders why Aydin didn’t mention it. Why keep it a secret? The victim is his wife. Metin says, unfortunately, in our country [not just in Turkey] the victim gets the worst of it. You know that.

Ceylin agrees. The woman is always blamed. Metin knows the deal, “a man wouldn’t do that if he wasn’t provoked. If she hadn’t been shaking her butt, he wouldn’t have done it.” Stupid excuses like that. I saw it many times during my career. In fact, the victim’s family would keep it a secret. If there’s a rumor, they try to bury it. Sadly, this is how it works.

Ceylin replies, yes, but she was dishonored. Metin says that’s probably why Aydin lashed out. He’s protecting his wife. People would talk. Ceylin thanks him for getting this so quickly. Tricks of the trade, he says. She asks his opinion, do you think Muhsin (the manager) has done this to other women? Probably, Metin replies, people like him don’t stop until they get caught. Ceylin and Metin will try to trap him. Metin sends her the video.

Another bang on the door and Parla opens. It’s the gas man again. Parla tells him she shut the gas and opened the windows. He wants to come in and check.

Ilgaz crosses Ismail off the board. He’s frustrated there’s no suspect. He asks Eren if they ran a background check on the guests. Eren says yes, there were a few suspicious people and we’re calling them in. Did you go on social media, Ilgaz asks. IT is getting it ready, Eren replies.

Tugce is sure there’s nothing wrong with the gas. The gas man comes back and says everything is okay. Parla sees him to the door. He turns to her with a menacing look. Listen, very carefully. Tell your aunt to stop her husband. DA Ilgaz needs to close the case, or we will put a stop to him. Understand? Parla is frozen. The man leaves and she starts to have a panic attack.

Ilgaz comes outside and asks his dad what he is doing there. Metin tells him he’s working a case with Ceylin. Ilgaz is happy to hear it and he tells his dad to keep an eye on her.
Parla calls Ceylin. What? Why are you crying? I don’t understand. Stop crying and tell me what happened. Ilgaz and Metin walk over. Ceylin tries to understand Parla.

secrets #93 part 4

It’s nighttime, Ceylin is with everyone at her mom’s house. Ilgaz said there’s nothing to worry about. You’ll have two officers watching the house. This has nothing to do with us. This is about Ilgaz’s case. Gul is upset with Parla for opening the door to strangers. Ceylin tells them to keep calm and take care. She asks Osman to stay. Aylin is not thrilled. Ceylin says the cops have the sketch, they’ll find the guy soon.

Gul wants Ceylin to stay. Don’t go to the office, stay so we won’t worry about you. Ceylin says thanks but she will take care of herself. She warns her family—don’t open the door to strangers. If you see anyone suspicious, notify the officers.

Eren and Ilgaz are outside Gul’s house. I don’t think they are two normal families, Ilgaz says. Eren talks about the “gas man” scaring the girls. A bastard. The guards arrive at the house.

Ceylin asks Eren to take her to her office. Ilgaz does not want Ceylin to go to her office. He tells her to stay at the house. They argue. Ilgaz threatens to detain her if she doesn’t go home. She says it’s unfair, but she’ll go home if he doesn’t. Ilgaz says he wouldn’t think of it. He’ll stay with Metin. Eren takes Ceylin home.

Yekta proudly brings Omer home for dinner. Lacin is very surprised. Yekta is feeling frisky, he sneaks a kiss on Lacin’s neck while she’s cooking in the kitchen. She jumps—what are you doing? A kiss for old times sake, he replies, I wanted to thank you. What’s the matter with you, she asks, why are you so happy? You invited Omer, you took his coat, these affectionate gestures. Last time I invited him, you wouldn’t sit at the table.

Yekta pours himself some wine. Lacin, it’s like you don’t know how much I value your opinion. I’ve thought about the Omer situation, and I’ve decided to take your advice. She can’t believe it. He says, I realized there’s a huge void inside of me [yes, he’s missing a soul]. I opened my heart to my son. I’ve fully embraced him. It feels great. I can’t thank you enough for bringing us together.

Lacin is skeptical. Are you serious? Yekta says, yes, I thought that maybe, if you agree, we can give Omer a room here so he can live with us, and we can all live happily together. What do you say? Lacin says yes, I’m glad to hear you say that.

We see Omer sitting at the table and hear Lacin say she’ll get the large room in the back ready for Omer. We can even bring in a desk. Yetka thinks that’s great. Lacin brings something to the table, and she looks at Omer. It doesn’t seem to be a happy look. Omer just continues staring straight ahead.

Eren brings Ceylin home. Flashbacks recall important Ilcey events. Ceylin offers to make dinner for Eren in return for information.

Metin explains the situation to Merdan and Defne. Defne is excited to hear Ceylin is coming home. Don’t get your hopes up, Metin tells her, Ilgaz is staying with us. Don’t ask him too many silly questions or he will get upset.

Ilgaz arrives at Pars’ house and is welcomed in. Ilgaz stands at the door, I just want to update you on the situation, I don’t want to take up your time. Pars insists he come in. Ilgaz sees that dinner is on the table. Pars says Derya is in the bathroom, they haven’t started yet. Pars talks about combining two households—it’s not easy. He goes to get Ilgaz some water.

Eren and Ceylin start dinner. He asks if they can call Ilgaz to come up later. No, she replies, that was my only condition… that he stay downstairs. Eren says she’s cruel.

secrets #93 part 5

Ilgaz tells Pars, they don’t want us to find out what they are hiding. Or the murderer is someone influential, Pars replies. It’s possible. This is upsetting, Pars says, Ceylin was scared when she told me about the threat. I wasn’t worried because I thought nothing would come of it. But she was right.

Was she really scared, Ilgaz asks. Of course, she was, Pars responds. I know she’s fearless, she’ll run into danger. But everything changes when your loved ones are targeted. She was worried something would happen to you. She’s in love and that’s how she shows her affection. Isn’t there any other way, Pars asks. Stop hurting each other.

Ilgaz ignores that and says, I should take all necessary precautions. Go ahead, Pars answers, we don’t want to regret not doing so later. Ilgaz is going. Pars wants him to stay for dinner. Maybe some other time, Ilgaz replies.

Merdan sneaks around the house. He locks the front door and shuts all the lights. Grandpa has a plan…

And we are out.

secrets

Thanks again, dondi! I really needed your recap tonight. Some things seem to go right past me and I wait for your explanation.

I really didn't understand the video Metin showed Ceylin, and that it was the manager who had been in the video. THIS is why the star player said the team had to choose between them. We could see that the manager was an SOB while Ceylin interviewed him, but now all the pieces fall into place.

I keep enjoying how the writers have had Merdan evolve (at least in Viewerville's eyes). At the beginning he seemed like a "bad hombre". He poisoned someone. And his background was so sketchy that Pars was having poor Ridvan search for records about him...back when Pars was feeling in competition with Ilgaz. Now he's Robin Hood! I really like the actor.

Aylin gave Parla at least 75% of her genes. Neither one has an ounce of good sense.

I noticed that Selcuk looked worried as he walked away from Aylin. I can't fathom why he was at the wedding...free dinner? I suppose we'll have to wait for a flashback to learn why.

I don't really understand why the cleaning lady is in the hospital.

I can hardly wait to see what Merdan is up to. He can't leave with the ankle bracelet; but, as you said, dondi: Grandpa has a plan.

secrets

Thank you, novelera.

The harassment situation is difficult. It’s interesting how societal issues are often discussed on the show.

ITA about Merdan. He was an interesting character from the start, well written. I think the actor is great. The special baklava didn’t bother me too much… hey, it’s a dizi. He didn’t target an innocent person.

“Aylin gave Parla at least 75% of her genes. Neither one has an ounce of good sense.” Yes, I groan when these people come on screen. It’s a chore to recap them.

“I noticed that Selcuk looked worried…” Maybe he senses his time is coming. I can't wait for Ilgaz and Eren to get a hold of him.

“I don't really understand why the cleaning lady is in the hospital.” Maybe someone contributed to her on the job accident. Or it’s just an accident to delay getting an impactful statement.

Grandpa’s plan: I can’t be 100% sure, but I think he’s locking Ilgaz out of the house, so he has to go upstairs to Ceylin. It could work if Ilgaz has no key, and he doesn’t knock at the door. I suppose Ilgaz could try calling or texting Metin. We’ll see.

Secrets

Gracias, Dondi. Everything I needed to know.

Listen, Cinar, I didn’t put you there to keep a record of things or manage the books. You’re the head of a 50 year old organization now.

Merdan sees something in Cinar that I sure don't. He's a sharp fox. I guess his judgment is clouded by his love for his grandson.

Ilgaz and Cinar so physically close but so distant. Maybe Ilgaz is an unbending stick, but I'm on his side. The little things he does, like serving tea and staring out the window at Ceylin, irresistible.

Aylin is in deep denial. She just can't be this dumb. A mother can't afford to be this dumb.
