I ended up on the phone all afternoon and haven’t watched yet. I will watch and comment in the morning! We don’t have episodes on Tuesday and Wednesday this week so plenty of time to discuss today’s episode.

Darcy: Looking forward to seeing the full-scale discussion recap of yesterday's episode.

Do we know why Univision isn't airing episodes for Tuesday & Wednesday of this week ?

Vino

Steve, same reason they normal pre-empt, FUTBOL!!! LOL

So, what I liked about yesterday's episode: That patterned shirt the Gracie had on!!! LOL That's about it....

They should have named this Vino el ridiculousness, or Vino el traveling around in circles and getting nowhere!!!

I am tired of hearing David tell Gracie and Lil they need to leave!! David either kick the heifers out already or zip it!!! Talk is cheap! Carito is a grade A idiot for coming back, grade AA for coming back just because Miguel asked her too, and grade AAA for telling Juan and Perla that she plans to tell the truth!!! Jeff Foxworthy should stop by and bring her a sign!!!

David yelling at Fernanda for failing the test when he KNOWS she studied for it is mean and unproductive. She obviously has test anxiety and telling someone they shouldn't be anxious is oh so helpful! Add to that, telling her you should be thinking about nothing but the test as if life worked that way!!! Given how effective her father is, I personally think she has one or two reasons to be anxious, add dear Tia Gracie to that and she should probably be on high alert....but some people are just bad test takers and yelling at them to not be nervous and concentrate isn't going to help anything...sigh.

Marta proves once again she's unrepentant, by laying into Lil and taunting her about how Brain is still into her and Lil must not be good in bed!!! I guess I don't need to go on another I hate Marta rant though, so I'll go back to work instead, that will my boss happy! :)

Vino. Great comments as usual, Darcy! I have to say, since I'm spending both this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon at the dentist (such fun!), I'm just as happy there's no novela episodes to miss. Getting back to Vino: The writers certainly didn't look into how college admissions work in the U.S. Standardized tests are supposed to be one of the factors admissions committees take into account, along with high school grades and participation in school activities (at some schools). In fact, there's a movement to make the test count less because they unfairly disadvantage lower income students. At worst, if Fer doesn't get into a UC, she could go to her local community college (along with Tano), and depending on how she does there, after getting her associate's degree transfer to either one of the Cal States or a campus of the University of California. There are a lot of safeguards built into the US system.

Darcy: Monday's episode was nothing but a whole bowl of HOT AIR. That's the classy way of putting things.

SpanProf: Interesting to see if BujiFern goes to the University of California-Berkeley, assuming she passes her exams of course. I cannot imagine her going to a local community college with Tano.

Did you see the look on Juan's face when Perla greeted Carito at the door ? LOL! That means Creepy Mark will be coming back sometime soon.

Vino. Steve: Of course if Fer is planning on running the vineyard someday, she should be aiming for UC Davis.

Interesting info about college admissions SpanProf! I never even applied to a university as a high school student, I probably could have, I had good grades. But for whatever reason I don't remember now, I had it in my mind to go straight to community college, which I did. I think the community colleges take whoever fills out the app and pays the fee, but it's not a bad route and definitely less expensive! I got my AA and then transferred to Cal State Fullerton. I never needed to take out a loan until getting to Cal State and if I had gone to locally to Fresno State instead of Fulllerton, I probably would have graduated without a single penny of debt!!! But of course, I was young and needed my independence so I wanted to go away to school and live in a dorm....ie. pay student loans....lol Live and learn!

OT. A couple of my siblings started their college careers at a community college. They had excellent teaching and then did well at 4 year universities. Where I taught, at a very good state university in Illinois, there was a research study on students who started out at a community college vs. those who started as freshmen at our school. Cc transfers did just as well if not better in their junior and senior years as those who started there as freshmen.

OT

My favorite teacher I ever had was an Accounting teacher at community college. He also had his own accounting firm and was in a band. He made plenty of money with his other business and taught because he loved it. He was fantastic at it too! He had a knack for explaining things so clearly and making them easy to understand. I never even read the text book in his class, didn’t need to. Learned it all in lecture! I would go home, turn straight to the homework problems and that’s it. Got an A on every test and every assignment and it was 100% what he taught me none of my own studying.

"VINO":

SpanProf & Darcy: Gut feeling that Creepy Miguel & Carito will be endgame.

Just a Jesse Stone-esque hunch!
